AWFUL! I hate your bank! You keep sending me messages to update my information. I already did that once after staying on hold for ages. Two months later, I got the same message again — but never received a response. I wait on the line for 30 minutes every day. I went to a Capital One Café — what’s the point if no one there can help?? The wait time is always over 120 minutes! I stayed on the line for 40 minutes, only to hear that “the line is now closed.”

Now you’re threatening to block my account? I’ve had to waste so much time trying to fix this issue. I can’t speak to a representative — just these useless robots. Please answer the call! Stop sending me messages every month asking to update my information if you don’t even have the time to process it. Honestly, this is the worst service I’ve ever experienced. I hate your bank!

My job doesn’t do direct deposit for whatever reason so I have to do a mobile deposit with my payroll check. I have been a customer for many years and never had an overdraft. I have worked for my company a little over a month right now and been paid twice. I have deposited the check and they hold my check for a week to verify funds. I keep getting different stories from anyone I talk to.

This is really frustrating when you have a bank that is supposed to have your back but yet they will do nothing to make sure you’re good. In the climate we’re in where eggs are 11 dollars and people are living paycheck to paycheck it is maddening that I have to wait an additional week for a deposit to clear because no one wants to verify the check from a multi million dollar corporation. Meaning my car payment and credit card bills will be late due to this. I’m very upset and feel this is a disgusting practice for a bank to do to its customers that have been banking with them for years.

Paid my card in full. Received an email saying that my funds could be released if I manually called to confirm the payment which I did. Matthew - who is a supervisor - told me that he was unable to do this even though I received an email saying that they would. He was not helpful at all. The funds were taken out of my bank account, but I have to wait for one week for them to be released even though Capital One took my money. Makes absolutely no sense. Also the email wasn’t true because they will not release the funds if you call so I don’t even know why they’re bothering to send the email if they can’t do that.

It took another 2 calls and have still not received the money. I reached out to the CEO a couple of times and have not heard back. Poor communication and problem solving skills.

DO NOT....I REPEAT....DO NOT open a small business banking account with Capital One. After years of banking with Capital One, they really failed in the last year. We have been unable to get access to our requested bank statements and now our funds for over 1 month and we need the capital for a group trip we run for professionals annually that departs in May 2025. Our clients have paid into our account all year and now we cannot access the funds to run our trip. As a Doctor who runs her own clinic who has dealt with numerous banks over the years, this is unacceptable and by far the worse banking experience I have ever had with a bank. We are advising all of my doctor and attorney colleagues to avoid capital one at all costs.

I have called nearly every day for a month to get customer support from Capital One and every representative, supervisor, manager, continually says the same thing.... "I will submit a request and it could take time to resolve the issue, at least 15 to 30 calendar days (which we have already exceeded), and there is nothing more we can do to assist as it is a system wide issue that is effecting numerous clients that bank at Capital One". Additionally, no one can give us a work around in the meantime to access our money to continue running our business activities. We are writing complaints all the way up the Capital One management chain through various platforms and are also reaching out to the BBB to file a complaint. We also plan to go the media seek legal representation to resolve this issue once and for all. Save yourself the massive headache and take your money to Synchrony Bank for high interest savings. They have been wonderful!

I already had a preemptive strike in place, in my process of ghosting you. I completed the ghost by deleting my AUTO PAYS from CapitalOne Checking and moved to a more impressive bank with better rates, better CS and US-based representatives.

As a 25-year customer, you lost me after your 6-day power outage in January 2025. All other financial institutions have back-up plans for these kinds of emergencies. You did not, which left customers believing how little they and their bank accounts were valued by Capital One. As far as harsh language goes, most people get a little frustrated at having to repeat their question 5 times to a Customer Service representative. The following are many reasons for your loss of customers. Poorly trained CS. CS not being able to get past language barriers. CS accents that are too thick to understand. CS talking over their customers. CS being just as rude as Capital One accuses their customers of being. So you can ghost us and in return, we can ghost you.

BTW, have you read your online reviews? Clearly, you are not in touch with your own customer base. Jennifer Garner and Samuel L. Jackson cannot help you with Customer Acquisition. Then they backtracked, and said that Adam’s vacation’s proved that I did not buy a refundable ticket. So they charge me for both tickets. I never said it was refundable and they will not hear me nor look at the receipt, which so clearly reads that it was flexible. I’ve been a customer of Capital One for quite some time now, and I am beyond frustrated with the poor service and lack of support. From the start, it’s been a nightmare trying to resolve simple issues.

Customer Service: The customer service is absolutely horrible. Every time I’ve needed assistance, I’ve been put on hold for over 30 minutes, only to receive unhelpful responses. The representatives seem untrained and unable to provide solutions to even the most basic problems.

Fees and Charges: The fees are excessive and hidden. I was charged an annual fee without being fully informed, and the foreign transaction fees are ridiculous. On top of that, my interest rates are much higher than expected, which feels like a huge bait-and-switch.

Lack of Transparency: Their billing process is confusing, and I often find myself scrambling to understand why I’ve been charged certain amounts. There’s no clear breakdown of charges, and the website is clunky and hard to navigate.

Rewards Program: If you’re looking for a good rewards program, look elsewhere. The rewards are minimal and difficult to redeem, and the program itself seems to change without any notice. Overall, I regret choosing Capital One and I will be exploring other options. This is a company that clearly doesn’t care about its customers, and I highly recommend avoiding them if you value your time, money, and peace of mind.

She did, and she was told she had to appear in person with her photo ID and social security card to, again, verify her identity. The closest physical location is over an hour away from her home-what is the point of an online bank if she has to appear in person, an hour away from her home? The account is now locked, making me unable to access the money I deposited when I opened the account until she does that. I have had an account since 2004, when it was still ING-I would have thought I would be treated better than this.

I am a victim of Jugging at Capital One Bank on Westpark & Buffalo Speedway. Beware of this specific location of Capital One Bank. I visited this branch that’s located on 3207 Westpark Dr., Houston, TX 77005 few days ago on Thursday January 30th, 2025 around 1:00 PM. The drive through refused to allow me withdraw $4,000 cash for my overseas travel for 4 weeks. The lady forced me to get the cash from the teller counter inside the bank. I parked my car and walked inside and got my cash. I walked back into my car and went to Kroger located in the same strip center to buy milk. I contemplated whether to keep the cash with me or hide it under the mat to be safe. I chose the latter. I walked out of the car, went inside Kroger, bought the milk and went back to my car.

In that quick 5 minute trip, my car was burglarized, the window was smashed, the driver seat floor mat was removed, and $4,000 cash were gone. I filed a police report (Report Number **) and the officer told me that jugging is the most common crime in America nowadays and for this incident to be this efficient and quick, it could possibly be an inside job too. The police added that no scenario is a safer option if you draw cash: take it with you inside the store, keep it in your car hidden, or go home with it. Thugs know you got this cash and have made up their mind by hook or by crook they are going to get it. Each of those options come with a price regardless.

The blame is on the bank for not having security to protect its customers on their premises. The bank should never allow suspicious persons roam around the front door of the bank and allow non-customers park their vehicles, stay inside their cars, watch the customers as they exit the bank, follow them to become victims of jugging. I saw few cars parked with guys in them but never thought they would follow me to steal my money. I thought they were customers, naively, and didn’t know they were thugs targeting customers!! I contacted the bank, filed a complaint, and shared with them my incident as stated here. They said they will investigate. I hope they do!!

For every incident like this, banks should be responsible in returning lost cash to their customers for their lack of safety/security at their locations. Otherwise, invest in employing an officer to monitor foot traffic and activity in the parking lot of suspicious people. I am furious for losing $4,000 in cash, spending $2,400 repairing the damages on my car, and not having a car for several days. Shame on Capital One Bank and any bank for that matter for not securing their locations. Capital One Bank services are difficult and inflexible when it comes to some transactions which force customers to actually go in person to the bank and putting our lives at risk. I will be closing my account with them. They are worthless and unsafe.

Please take extra precautions when you visit Capital One Bank on 3207 Westpark Dr., Houston, TX 77005. If you must go to banks in person, be vigilant and make sure you are aware of your surroundings. If you see people in a car just sitting there, make sure you check if you are being followed after you leave and call the police if you are! The bank is responsible to return our lost $4000 and the cost of car repairs.

Creating a new account, requiring lots of personal info and then the login and password stopped working and their people are no help at all. After hours on hold, I asked them to switch me back to paper bills. I likely won't shop at Kohl's anymore. The people at Kohl's were fine but this was a mistake at their corporate level.

After ignoring promotional emails, I finally decided to apply for the Capital One Savor Card after ignoring their promotional emails for years. The card itself has great perks—offering solid cashback rewards on dining, entertainment, groceries, and streaming services—but my experience with their customer service has been nothing short of frustrating.

After being approved for the card, Capital One immediately placed my account under restrictions and asked me to verify my identity by emailing a copy of my ID and a bill. I complied with their request right away, but the issue didn’t end there. Even after receiving the card in the mail, my account remained restricted. When I called customer service multiple times to resolve the issue, I was met with repetitive responses and vague timelines. They kept saying it would take 1 to 10 business days to process everything, but it’s been well over that timeframe now.

To make matters worse, their system kept rejecting my phone number even though it had been verified during one of the calls. The representatives I spoke to seemed unhelpful and robotic, repeating the same script over and over without offering any real solutions. One representative, Maria (the entitled manager), came across as entitled and dismissive, which only added to my frustration. She will ask you the back card security code which is shady. While the card’s rewards are undeniably attractive, this experience has left me questioning whether it’s worth the hassle. If you’re considering applying for the Capital One Savor Card, be prepared for potential delays and poor customer service. For me, the process has been unnecessarily stressful and disappointing.

Conclusion: If you need a credit limit above $1,000, avoid Capital One like the plague—they’re the worst! I applied for a travel card with Capital One, expecting a decent credit limit based on my strong financial credentials—over $100K in income, a 750+ credit score, and existing limits exceeding $30K. Instead, they offered me a pathetic $800 limit, which is an outright insult. I wanted to buy three family tickets at roughly $1,100 each and earn rewards, but their laughable limit made that impossible.

When I called to request a credit increase, their excuse was no more than a weak apology and a meager raise to $900. This isn’t just an inconvenience—it’s a scam! A friend with a similarly strong credit profile had the exact same experience when her store credit account was transferred to them. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of Capital One if you require any meaningful credit. Consider reputable alternatives like Bank of America, Chase, or American Express instead.

Absolutely useless customer service. I regret ever opening that credit card with them. I will definitely be closing this card out. This is absolutely ridiculous.

First my card was not working, then having to sit on hold forever to get through to someone. Card was frozen because they needed a physical address. Then 3 months later, card not working, suspicious activity. I set up for them to give me notification via text whenever there's a problem. 6 months later, I paid my statement balance in full before the due date, but was charged interest.

I wrote a letter with the proof of payment and no response. 3 months later, again I paid in full before the statement due date but incurred more late payment interest. Sent them another letter. No reply except they kept calling my home number which I'm never at because I work. I called them back and sat on hold for 30 minutes. Finally got someone but she kept insisting I was late. I told her to look at the statement due date and tell me how exactly "I'm late". I told her that I am not paying the fees and am cancelling my card. For the past 4 months, every single day someone has been calling for their $100 interest payment. I checked my credit score today, and they dropped me to the lowest category from the highest. DO NOT USE THIS CREDIT CARD COMPANY.

Customer rep confirmed. At least I thought all was fine. However I did that request because I was switching banks and didn't want to be overdraft. Well guess what? They took the payment out of my account and NOW I have a 170.00 overdraft. Called company to see if I get some of the money back from the overdraft fee. The cust. rep flat out said NO. Didn't even try to resolve the issue at all or even try to make a customer happy. Instead it was no, no and NO. I work in cust. service and if my boss hear the conversation he would of stepped in, handled and then fire me for not helping out a long-standing customer.

Worse company ever. I will never use them again or tell anyone about them. I would give zero stars. The conversations are recorded so I thought maybe someone higher up would have called me to try and resolve the issue. But nope. They did not. Never again. Their cc division is just as bad. Avoid this bank! I first want to say I worked for a large regional bank as a lender and we critiqued applicants with Capital One cards with rolling eyes. Sort of viewed as credit card for deadbeats. Or they were not too bright with their finances in the first place. I cannot say this is the case for all banks, but it looks like last chance credit. Capital One has 1.2 Stars but you are required to give them 1 star so their real review is 20% of a star quite similar to the rates they charge on their credit card and saw some over 30%. Maybe this is why they came up with the catchphrase "What's in your wallet" to make their cards look better.

They have not addressed one complaint here that I can see. Maybe they cannot read them. Good luck understanding customer service when you call because one even told me they were outside the U.S. That's not a fair statement. Let's summarize it that they do not care! I came here to vent that they cheated me out of a $750 deposit bonus using very deceptive wording in the offer. They said they really tried to make an exception since I missed it by 5 days but they just couldn't. They should say the deposit needs to be with them for 105 days. They promise the bonus within 60 days however when I called to inquire about it they were going to be over a week late in paying it. Rules that benefit them, but not me. Go with Ally Bank for better rates and service. Avoid Capital One unless they are your last chance source for credit.

I am Capital One customer for over twenty years and during this time I had to ask Capital One for help three times. It was my favorite credit card and I was spending thousands of dollars every month. One day I did buy an item on AliExpress and since delivery took several months I did not need that thing any longer, order was canceled but seller still shipped it. I did send package back to China where it came from. Since seller was not giving me credit. I was expecting Aliexpress will help me here but due to very long time past from the day I made the purchase Aliexpress closed that case and was not willing to help. So I ask Capital One for help and I was providing tracking number back to China. The seller never responded and Capital One kept me financially responsible. All they did was that tracking number was trackable on US soil but on China was not. Therefore I had to pay for goods which were sent back to seller.

Couple of years later Capital One downgraded my credit limit from 30k to 10k. I was using their card, paying on time in full. That got me upset. And very recently I was trying to get an answer from seller where is my Samsung Galaxy screen I paid $26.76 for. Seller was unreachable so I ask Aliexpress for assistance and I was told package was delivered. I got the FedEx tracking number also. The package with that tracking number indeed was delivered but to wrong address! FedEx shipment overview shows all details where the package was shipped from, where was delivered, size, weight and none of it was correct. Box dimensions 80x17x7in and weighted 123.4Lbs was delivered but not to my address! It was a cellphone screen.

Capital One gave ma a credit first and a little later charged me again and their explanation was Aliexpress provided evidence package was delivered! Why it was delivered to Chehalis, WA since I am from New Jersey? What was in that package so heavy? (123.4Lbs weight of cellphone screen?) Why was it so big? 80in by 17in by 7in is such screen on the market? I want to be respectful but I will not respect morons.

Both the cards look identical. I applied for a Capital One Savor Excellent credit for promotional offer of $200 bonus after spending $500 in first 3 months. After application I got an approval instantly and was notified the card would be delivered in mail 4-5 business days. I received the card, started spending. Never received bonus. After asking why would they not let customers know what every customer qualifies you for, the agent and the manager did not have any answer. Although they are two different cards, however their system qualifies you automatically for the one you did not intend to apply and moreover they do not let you know clearly whether you got qualified for the Capital One Savor Excellent credit or Capital One Savor Good credit. It does not clearly mention on the letter that comes along with the card in mail. I would not recommend this credit card to anyone. I was a good customer for many years despite having a high interest rate. In the past 12 months or so alone I have paid almost $4K in interest. Granted, we travel a lot and use the card as such. That is not the issue, that was our choice. Issue starts with their policies, when the feds started lowing interest rates I called to negotiate a better rate, was flat out told "we don't do that" , fine again this was our choice to use them. So my alternative was to go with a different credit card company as my credit is in great standing I could get better APR. I did, and used the new account to pay off the balance in order to close.

Unfortunately I did not pay off the balance in time to not accrue interest, so on top of paying off over 12K in balance I paid additional $300 in interest and closed the account. NOW they are charging me another interest charge of $90.00 because it seems the payoff amount ALWAYS includes the next cycles interest charge. Buyer beware, ALWAYS read the fine print because that's where Capital One will rob you. The "robots" that answer the customer "service" lines are of no help. All they will tell you steer you towards is paying off the amount. You would think they get a commission the way they just repeat "all you need to do is pay off the amount."

I was a Capital One credit card holder for about a decade, charged literally hundreds of thousands of dollars with no problem, paid all my charges, and got good service and cash back rewards. Then I had an improper charge by a merchant which I disputed. Capital One never investigated my dispute, did not accept my statement of what happened, and then ruled in the merchant's favor. It did not even make an effort to verify what I did to try to correct the overcharge with the merchant. I am dropping Capital One. I am a good customer, pay on time and never had one dispute in ten years and generated a lot of income for this bank. Not a good bank that values its customers.

There was a fraudulent charge on my credit card for $256.35, which I reported immediately, from a company called The Beauty Sandwich in Burbank, California. A couple of days later, I received a package from this company and contacted Capital One to report this. I was told to contact the company, but they do not have a valid phone number. I reached out to the company to return the unopened package that I did not order and was told via email that they do not accept returns.

Capital One says I am responsible for the charge since I received this still unopened package, and I must prove I did not order it by providing evidence. I asked what kind of evidence, but they will not tell me what to provide or how to prove it. They did confirm that the email used to order this was not one of the three I have used and would not give me the email used or the ISP where the order was placed and refuse to contact my ISP. I have no idea how someone is supposed to prove a negative or provide evidence when you don't even know what the evidence is supposed to be. I know I am going to end up paying this bill, and I currently charge around $20,000-$30,000 a year on this card and have had it for 20 years. I will be obtaining another card from a different company, and Capital One will no longer be receiving a percentage every time I use this card.

I tried to pay my bill with the Los Angles Department of Water and Power (DWP). To facilitate this payment, I paid off the balance on my Capital One Savor Card. This took several payments from my bank, as the company keep adding to the balance. I paid in excess of the $6000 credit limit. Then I tried to use the card to pay the DWP. Capital One denied the transaction, then restricted my account so I I have) available credit. I called customer service and no one was able to explain why this had happened. I was told I needed to wait 7-10 business days for someone to contact me. I then received a letter asking me to call "Customer Fraud Prevention." At this point, I discovered that my other two Capital One credit card accounts (which had nothing to do with the transaction at issue) had also been restricted.

The person who answered the phone and the person who claimed the call had been "escalated" to but had no more authority than the first one (her name is supposedly Gia), both told me my word that the transaction is legit is not good enough. They demanded I end them a copy of my DWP bill to prove I owe the amount I was trying to pay. They could not point me to a provision in the cardholder agreement that authorizes Capital One to delve into my private affairs before making a payment I want to make with my available credit. I was trying to use the card to make the payment so as to improve my credit. It was not worth dealing with Capital One.

Unfortunately, my request was declined, and I was informed there was nothing they could offer. Despite my long-standing loyalty and clean record, Capital One chose not to accommodate me. If $1,000 is easy-come, easy-go for you, skip this review. Capital One's customer service is terrible. I had a dispute regarding a $1,000 charge at Walmart. I spent countless hours trying to get Walmart to honor their stated terms, but it was futile. My last recourse was to dispute the charge, which I did. Capital One took Walmart's word that my sale was legitimate and charged me back after initially crediting me. There was no communication from them about this. They just charged me $1,000 without requesting any information or verification from me. I had to discover this on my own when I called them about the issue. They provided a link for me to submit documentation, which I used extensively. I spent hours crafting documents from emails, self-notes about calls to Walmart and the content of these conversations, photos requested by Walmart, and screen captures of the product page showing their stated terms. Hours upon hours.

After submitting everything, I was informed that it would not be resolved until two months later. I called about two weeks after submitting all the documents and was told the dispute was still ongoing, and that Walmart had up to two months to respond. In the meantime, I was advised to just hang loose. So I called today, the designated day to find out if my dispute had been resolved in my favor. What did I find out? That it was resolved in my favor two months ago, shortly after I submitted all those documents. WHAT!? Why wasn't I notified at that time?...No clue. I asked for an email or a letter by postal mail so that I could have it for my records; I don't trust this won't come back to haunt me after my experience with them. I DO NOT TRUST THEM.

The clincher? THEY SAID THEY CANNOT PROVIDE ANY DOCUMENTATION - EMAIL OR LETTER - SAYING THAT MY DISPUTE WAS RESOLVED...IN MY FAVOR. They simply can't do it. WHAT!!??...That's the most whacked-out thing I've heard in a looooooong time. I spent HOURS AND HOURS AND HOURS of my valuable time either on the phone with them, on the phone with Walmart, and/or making notes and documentation about all this. I see there is a class action lawsuit for exactly this and see on Facebook you did the same to many other people. I immediately closed 2 Cap one cards. I redirected my recurring charges on my third Cap one card and will close it ASAP.

By not honoring your promotion, you probably made $20 from my $500 worth of charges. However, you will not get any more charges from me. Over the past 10 years I charged about $20,000 per year on my capital one cards giving both you and me a healthy cash back. It's over. Due to your lying and bait and switch stunt, I will never do business with Capital One again. I am also posting on Facebook and recommending and recruiting for another class action lawsuit. It is only through email, so if you miss that email and it passes midnight on the day it was due, there is a $40 charge they impose on a monthly basis. They are unwilling to work with you on this matter. They only send the email 5-6 days before the due date. The next notification you receive is to inform you that your payment is overdue, and you have been charged—that's all.

Other companies do a far superior job by notifying you the day before or on the due date. Additionally, if you opt for cashback, you need to be aware of the fine print. There are exorbitant interest charges on cashback and until your full balance is paid, even if not all of it is cashback, interest is charged as though it were. They said they couldn't lift it but it wasn't canceled. They don't understand restricted versus canceled. Four different agents just kept pushing me to open a new account but you can't open a new account with a restricted card. It was the worst circle with everyone. I canceled the account. To which they said, no more charges would go through. It was restricted so they wouldn't go through anyway. I am canceling my other 2 cards and the car loan I was just approved for from them. I would never give them business again.

After Walmart dropped Capital One, I received a bill from Quicksilver. It took some time to determine that it was for Walmart purchases. This bill had a partial credit card number for a card I did not receive. I called to say that I had not received it, so they cancelled it and sent another which I also did not receive. Finally, I called to pay the bill and cancel the card. I asked to pay everything that was owed. Next I received a notice by email that I was being charged a late fee and another bill. I, at last, discovered what the bill was for and agreed to pay it, but asked for the late fee to be waived under the circumstances. They completely refused to do so, saying they didn't have that option and that I had reached the ultimate level of appeal. I am very dissatisfied with Capital One's customer service!!!

Capital One Credit Card Review. I recently had a disappointing experience with Capital One regarding their annual fee policy. After being charged the annual fee in September, I decided to close my account and requested that the fee be prorated or waived. Unfortunately, they refused, citing ineligibility without providing any flexibility or reasonable explanation. When I escalated the issue to a supervisor named Jean, the interaction worsened. Jean was incredibly impolite and displayed poor customer service skills, refusing to provide her last name for accountability purposes.

The lack of professionalism and unwillingness to work with customers on reasonable requests like prorating fees made the experience frustrating. I expected better from Capital One but would caution others to carefully review their policies before committing to a credit card with them. This experience has left a sour impression, and I wouldn’t recommend their services based on the lack of customer care.

I lost my Capital One Mastercard, and called it in a day later. No one had used it, they stopped it immediately. I was told I would get a new card in 7 to 10 days. Two weeks later, no card had arrived. At that point, I began to move all automatic charges over to my AMEX card. Two weeks later, I had suffered complaints because of auto-payment refusals to my "vendors" (aka it's a personal card, so cable, cellphone, Netflix, SiriusXM, the garbage service, the local gym...) I had been moving everything over to AMEX. I finally called CapitalOne and they said they had no record of my asking for a replacement. But they did freeze my card, including my auto-pays.

This caused a world of problems. They finally sent me a card. By then, I'd moved 95% of my bills over to AMEX. I filed a complaint that I had been scammed on the web by a company, I never received any products from that company. They had me send in documentation - putting me in the defensive position of proving I got nothing. That's hard. I lost. I appealed, pointed out that AMEX also was part of this transaction (I split it up on two cards, I was suspicious of the deal). AMEX got my money back. CapitalOne ruled in favor of the scammer. I'm out $1,000. I appealed, sent a copy of AMEX's decision, CapitalOne still ruled in favor of the scammer. The only reason I will keep this CapitolOne card is to use in the very few places that they don't accept AMEX. Otherwise, I'm done. CapitalOne will drop the ball, every time.

Small issues here and there with them declining online purchases with Ticketmaster, but after a quick call to their customer service department and them texting a verification code to my phone for me to give to them, the purchases were allowed to go through. Then this past week happened. I was making purchases for Christmas at a large retailer in town. The purchase was declined. Usually Capital One will send me a text asking me if I just made a purchase. This time no text, so I called customer service. The agent texted me a code that I repeated to him on the phone. He lifted the restriction and said that the purchase should now go through. After hanging up I took my receipt back to the cash register to pay and my card was declined for a second time.

Upon calling Capital One customer service/Fraud department I asked to speak to a manager. Once connected I was informed that in order for my account to become unfrozen and reactivated, I would need to send a copy of my ID/Drivers license via a link that they would email me, and it would take 1 to 10 business days for my documents to be reviewed. WTH!!! So in the meantime while I wait for Capital One to review my documentation and unfreeze my account, (because of fraud that is not happening), all of my automatic payments that I have been making for years to the same companies are not getting paid due to this company's stupidity and it's inability to conduct themselves professionally.

Have lost all trust in this company and will be taking my business to a company where the managers/employees make better customer service decisions and place their customers first instead of making them feel like criminals. I would call and state that I never used cards and this one time the operator put me on a three way call and the company I never heard of knew more about me then I did. I pleaded with Capital One that not mine. They refused to listen. I canceled my card and since they held me hostage to scam purchases I over paid the limit. I was sent a cheque for $3.71 which is still on my fridge and refuse to cash out. Out of nowhere I get a call from Capital One demanding payment. I explained, "I don't have your card and haven't had your card for years and to this day." They have now affected my credit score. They claim I have card and I said I would never get another card ever from Capital One.

The gentleman on other end didn't have any information that associated me with Capital One but yet they claim I owe money to them. I'm writing this letter so Capital One cannot do the same to other people. It's amazing how Capital One can claim I own card when my personal info does not match my personal life. It's coming to have them charged with harassment over false claims. I've never received a statement ever from Capital One, I refuse to play their game. I've called the company many times and I can't even get into Capital One my account they claim I have. Maybe Capital One will see this complaint and contact me. I haven't heard from Capital One for long time now and yet it's still affecting my credit score.

Capital One promises you a card even if they don't have info on you. They find a way to ruin your credit 'cause they don't listen. Call the number with no card and watch them rip you off. Be careful giving Capitol One any info they will use against you while you talk with them and tell you that you have card and with wrong address, name, birthdate they still claim they sent you a card. I am my Mother's POA. She has had a Capital One credit card for over 5 years with no issues. At the end of November, she received a letter stating she needed to verify her birth date by early December or her account would be suspended and closed a month later. I called Customer Service and the rep could not find any notice or indication that info was missing. I was told to disregard the notice. But sure enough, in December Mom's account was suspended.

I called again figuring it was a simple process to confirm a birth date. Was I mistaken. The first rep could not solve the issue and passed me to a specialist. That specialist stated that in order to confirm the birthdate she needed to verify identity through a cell phone account. Mom is 101 and does not have a registered cell phone. Then she said we could send in a copy of her State ID, but that has expired. Then I was passed to an super-expert who said she could only go through the same process. Keep in mind Mom stated her SS# to the reps.

Not wanting to lose the credit card, we called back later and eventually spoke to a fraud investigator. Same result. Without a registered cell phone, we have to provide a valid State-issued ID. A birth certificate is not sufficient. Now in order to maintain the account I have to take 101-year-old Mom to the DMV to get an ID, and hope the ID arrives by early January so I can electronically send it to Capital One. Apparently, the only way for Capital One to confirm a birthdate on their system for an active customer is to verify identity through a cell phone account or unexpired ID. A birth certificate or expired ID will not suffice. And the CSRs didn't seem to care much at all about losing the customer.

I honestly had been pretty satisfied with my Capital One credit card for the decade that I've had it besides the ridiculous interest rate. but in September I received an email saying that I haven't made my payment and I should schedule one in the few days remaining but I knew that I mailed a check. so I logged in to the web portal to check the status and it showed that my mail payment was processing (it said they received it on the 13th and my due date is the 17th). Turns out they decided to hold that payment and charge me a late fee on the 17th and then post the payment on the 18th. I didn't have time to call them at the time but a few days later I logged back in and saw that the payment date was updated to the 13th but the late fee was charged to my account on the 17th still.

I called customer service and they kept telling me that my late fee was reversed on the 18th but absolutely no documentation showed that the late fee was reversed. Downloading an updated statement now shows that there is no fees and no credits (besides charges and payments) but the transactions online still shows that late fee and no reversal. I asked customer service why the late fee was still showing up months later and they said because the online portal documents everything even if it didn't make it to the statement -- this is logical except using that same logic then the late fee reversal should also be documented in the same manner but it isn't. Eventually the customer service agent started blaming my browser which is an incredible statement because, if true, that would mean that my browser is showing every single transaction perfectly for months and just taking it upon itself to not display one single transaction.

When I brought this up he admitted that it is likely an issue with their system and that he will recommend that they make improvements. This is a financial services company and tracking transactions is something that they'll "work on"? I'm very concerned that they are either intentionally manipulating this system to charge fees hoping that customers won't notice or they just don't have a system that can be trusted with keeping proper track of my account.

I wanted to inform the public of how Capital holds no regard for the security, safety and lives of their customers. I found myself in a situation, in where my vehicle broke down and resulted in me being stranded on the side of the highway at a very high trafficked location. I'm speaking of hardly any shoulder with eighteen wheeler after eighteen wheeler flying directly past me, only a few feet away from me stranded inside my vehicle, whooshing right by me, only a couple of feet away at an average speed of 85 miles per hour.

Earlier in the day I made a mobile check deposit in the amount of $1000, into my 360 checking account. Upon speaking to Capital One and various representatives over the phone, explaining to them my very dangerous and very emergent situation, Capital One took the following position: Capital One apologized regarding the dangerous scenario I was in, but basically wished me well, hoping I wasn't a party who was the victim of a fatal vehicle accident.

I explained to Capital One that I'm aware the request to make available a small percentage of the funds from that mobile deposit in the amount of $1000 is not a standard practice and I would not normally be requesting this authorization under normal circumstances. But I advised Capital One that I was hoping I could get escalated to an individual within their organization who had the ability to help me. I even asked them if they had other options they could explore to help me rather than my request to have only $50 be accessible to me from the $1000 mobile deposit, as this wad the only funds I had available to me at that moment.

They basically said, "Sorry, we can't assist you... hope you don't die!" Which, in my opinion, was a pretty sad position for a multimillion dollar organization to take regarding this scenario one of their long-standing customers was in. Therefore, I want to make publicly available to individuals online, the knowledge that Capital One has no regard for the safety and life of their customers. For over ten years, we have had a CapOne credit card. To help manage recurring payments and shield that card number from fraud, we have three numbers for the account. One in my wife’s name and two in my name. One of the card numbers in my name is used exclusively for recurring payments. The other for daily use. This way if the daily use card is compromised it doesn’t affect any of my recurring payments. Recently, and without notifying us, the secondary number (the daily use card) in my name was cancelled. I found out when I tried to use the card and it was declined.

When I spoke to CapOne they told me that they no longer allow two numbers for the same name. For “security” reasons. Mind you, when years ago I told Cap One why I wanted the third number and how I planned to use it the CapOne person commented what a clever idea. Now they want me to use the virtual card solution which requires either a PC or a Mac (I pretty much exclusively use mobile devices these days) and a limited selection of browsers (none of which I use) with their “Eno” extension installed. I am limited in the number of virtual cards, there is no way to track things by the virtual number forcing me to rely on physical or electronic receipts to return something.

So I am forced to have a Mac or PC and forced to use browsers I would otherwise not use for privacy reasons. All with limited and complex functionality. I am now looking at other credit cards that will allow me to continue my simple method to separate daily usage from recurring payments. And who will not force me to use HW and SW I would not otherwise use.

Weeks later, I received a letter from Capital One requesting "supporting documentation" for the fraudulent credit card application, referencing an *Application ID* provided by Capital One. Determined to resolve the issue, I called again, armed with this reference. However, after being transferred between eight people and spending an additional three hours on the phone, I gave up once more.

I have since decided to close my account and move on. It is shocking that a company can operate with such a level of inefficiency, where eight out of eight employees failed to grasp or address a clear fraud attempt. Instead of taking meaningful action, each representative simply passed me along with the same refrain: "That's not my department; let me transfer you." I was never given a direct contact number or a clear path to resolution—just an endless cycle of transfers. In total, I spent over 7.5 hours without any progress—no retraction of the fraudulent credit card application, no resolution, and no acknowledgment of the seriousness of the issue. They somehow had my daughter’s name on my account and wanted me to reset her account in order to get to my own. The company is a joke. I have never dealt with people that have such a little common sense in my life. Why would I go on somebody else’s account, change their password in order to get to mine? Makes no sense and sounds very illegal, but apparently that’s how they make their money getting other people to hack into somebody else’s account and when you call customer service, they know absolutely nothing.

Some time ago I changed my phone number. It was impossible to register my new phone number. It was actually a nightmare because this credit card DOES NOT give the customer an option to use email instead of phone to receive a verification code. Two years later, yesterday I was returning an item at a mall. When opening my Capital One statement on my iPad to show the receipt I couldn’t because I had taken with me my iPad instead of my flip-flop phone with me. The reason was that the receipt had been sent to me to my email address.

I was trying to get my receipt but Capital One was sending a verification code to my phone. All my credit cards ALWAYS give me an option to receive my verification code by email or by phone! Again this company DOES NOT give you that option! Even if I discussed this matter with them 2 years ago. Still the company today says that they only use phone. Well what about the customer's needs? I now will be traveling to Europe for a month, I don’t take my flip phone with me. How will I be able to pay the bills? They don’t seem to care even when I explained that I will be away without my personal phone. Not such a good company. Does not listen to the customer's needs!

The Capital One customer service blew me off saying there was no record of that. Well when the error message on the gas pump displays, it indicated on both CO cards problems with the chip. No, I don't walk into the gas station; I just use another card (last time it was my Discover card) which worked perfectly. I truly regret selecting it as a card to accumulate Frequent Flyer miles.

I explained with my business I order equipment that comes out of the country when I do that I need a larger line of credit. They didn’t care. My biggest complaint is they reduced my line of credit and reported it to the credit bureau. As a result my credit score was reduced from 830. I’m very conscious of my credit score.

I ultimately canceled the card. If a person is approved for a specific line of credit that should not be adjusted especially with a good customer who pays bills on time, in full, never had a payment returned for any reason. Banks are who get customers in trouble financially. They force you to use credit. They don’t care. Then when people are so in debt they can’t get out of it then they will cancel the account and traumatize the customer for payment. I will NEVER deal with Capital One again.

I applied through my account and it changed my city and zip (I didn't catch this) so lord only knows where it wound up. Got it fixed and even paid for expedited shipping. Received the card and activated it. I decided to use it that night for an online transaction. It was denied. Weird, but maybe I typed something wrong, tried again and denied.

I grabbed my American Express and the transaction went through. I logged into my account and saw and in and out. Ok, for whatever reason they denied it, I will deal with that on Monday. Monday comes, I log into my account and see two pending transactions. I call the customer service number and what a joke - says it was never denied. Why would I make the same purchase twice one minute apart. I called the venue (halloween attraction) and the only payment they have record of is the American Express. I am playing the waiting to see if the transactions fall off. The woman at the venue said if they go through to call her and she will issue the refund. We got another credit card through a different bank for our trip so I may just cancel all accounts with capital one on my return. I’ve been a customer with them for years and almost every time I’ve had an issue with my card, they’ve been of no help. I just get a lot of “sorry that happened to you but we can’t help”. Their agents are embarrassingly poorly trained and many of them aren’t good listeners. They’ll pretend to empathize but you can tell they’re sort of dim. There’s often been times the agent I was speaking to made my issue worse (said one thing and did another), and I was left to clean up the mess myself. Sometimes I’ll talk to 2-3 agents on the same issue and get three different answers.

Capital One customer service will do everything to push the blame on the customer and not take responsibility. Their credit card perks are decent but beware if you need their assistance on issues outside of their basic script. So since they choose to restrict my account without notice via mail, email or text, I will now stop making payments in excess of the minimum amount due (over six months worth) and only pay the minimum. Plus all the credit reports show the card active and a available credit balance. Anyone had similar experiences? Also, recommendations for card companies with GOOD customer service are welcomed.

My decision to get that card was to utilize the balance transfer. I have excellent credit. It makes no sense. They wasted my time and an unnecessary hard inquiry on my credit report.

Holy moly, what a nightmare. It takes hours to reach a customer service rep. Finally decided I didn't need this unprofessional headache. It took weeks to get them to close the account. Then they sent several overnight letters to say I'd better re-think that because they'll never let me come back. My score is above 800 so I don't need to deal with idiots.

I just closed my two Capital One credit card accounts due to poor customer service today. Apparently I made a valid transaction several weeks ago when buying new cell service. I was declined (no reason given). Apparently it was flagged as fraud in my account. No notification was sent to me to fix. I attempted to use my card this morning and it was blocked due to the fraud. All this is fine. Then I called the customer service line to attempt to fix the card. They told me they needed to verify my identity. I gave them the cell phone of the account to send a text to verify. They told me the system would not allow that number to be used.

I asked them if they could use the mobile app verification system. They told me the system would not allow them to use the mobile verification. I asked for a supervisor. They told me there was no supervisor on shift for another hour. All of these are unacceptable. They told me the only method of verification was for me to go to an open branch (closest one is 55 miles away) and show an associate my ID or send them a picture of my ID. I was in my vehicle trying to get gas using the card so I was unable to take a picture of my ID for verification. Since I was treated this way, I have closed two accounts I had with them today.

Capitol One is one step worse than going to the pawn shop. Their offered credit limits makes me feel like they are about to go bankrupt or take your money and disappear! HORRIBLE! You could do better by buying 10 lottery tickets...and losing on all 10. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.

Horrible! After paying my 2 Capital One cards on time now I'm involved in the hurricane Helene and I called to see if they can help and they won't help. Instead they moved my pay due date even earlier.

I have had nothing but issues with the bank and the reliability of the bank is a joke. The ongoing problems using my own money with purchasing issues non stops. The bank only cares about the money and what they make off each individual customer. It's just crazy that the country allows these banks to operate without any of the guidelines that other companies have to abide by in the United States.

I am a long term customer and they charge me $29 late fee for paying on the day it was due but because I was 1 HOUR late. They can't take it off the late fee. This is ridiculous. If I could give a 0 star I would.

Capital One Bank Credit Card has been very unfair to me. I never missed a payment in all the time I had their card and paid off and closed my account on June 28. On July 3rd they took 133 dollars out of my account without my knowledge or consent, bouncing my account. When I contacted them I was told that two of the merchants had not sent in their bills and so I had the additional charges. I told them they bounced my account and they refunded the money back to my account July 19th. So I assumed the error had been corrected and we were even.

September 26th, 3 months after I had closed and settled my account (I thought) I get a dozen calls from Capital One in just a few days and when I answered there was no response so finally I got ahold of them and they said I owed the 133 plus interest plus late fees plus the annual membership fee prorated. I asked them why and they said I had not made any payments since June. Trying to explain that I had no account or access to my old account went nowhere. They insisted I owed the money and better pay it before it was reported to my credit record and affect my credit score.

No matter how I TRIED TO REASON WITH THEM THEY KEPT ASKING ME IF I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A PAYMENT ON THE OVERDUE ACCOUNT! Worst customer service in the history of the universe. They waited three months to let me know the error they had corrected when they withdrew from my account without my knowledge or consent was not any error at all but my fault!

Capital One has been our go-to for some bank accounts and credit cards for the last 20 years. We have not had a credit card fraud claim in 20+ years and when we needed them to help, they failed terribly. We recently created a claim and somehow they changed the amount of the claim (I sent a screenshot of their online form showing the correct amount of the claim), and when I called they created an "exception case" for the remainder of their incorrect amount.

And apparently, sending the screenshot of the correct amount of the claim did nothing, and when Capital One claims communicated with the company who failed to refund over $500 of our returned merchandise, the claims person concluded "we had already been refunded for the amount of the claim" even though we clearly showed we had already deducted the amount the company had previously refunded from our claim. We have hours and hours into trying to get our funds back for returned merchandise, and sent all requested documents, plus more, for clarification. This is exhausting and the disorganization and/or fraudulent actions of the company continue due to Capital One's claims incompetence.

I have deposited more than 100000 dollars to this bank. They were happy to receive the money and that was no problem at all. Until I decided I wanted to buy a car with that money. And because my bank account is “too new” I am not allowed to do a wire transfer order a cashier's check or increase the limit in my debit card. They also do not have any physical branches anywhere near me within 50 miles. They basically stop me from accessing my money… I am obviously running away to a different bank as fast as I can!

The worst bank. I opened an account to put my savings in for my baby's emergency. Now they hold my money without my permission and freeze my account, and I am not able to access my money. I tried calling, but their representatives are rude and very unhelpful. I asked them to close the account and release my money so that I can buy formula, diapers, and medicine for my baby. However, the representative was very unhelpful and did not care about my problem. I will never bank with them ever again. I don't have any money to feed my baby, and they don't care about my baby starving just because of their stupid rules. I was also told that just because I bank with them, they have every right to my money. It's utterly stupid. I will never bank with them again and will not recommend to my friends and family and everyone.
