All around poor service. Apparently someone tried to use my debit card for an unauthorised purchase. My card was cancelled. It's been a week and Capital One have yet to get my replacement card to me. I called them on Saturday because I was to get my replacement card on Friday which I didn't get. They advised me to wait until Monday, I waited and still did not get my card. I called customer service and they had no resolution other than advising me to tell money to family and friends for cash until I get a card that might take 7 to 10 business days. I am ready to take my business somewhere else.

I have been with Capital One for over three years! At 12:30 AM on a Saturday, Capital One decided to lock my card due to potential fraud. They didn't text me, call me, or anything. They just locked my card while I was out with friends. Not only was I unable to use my card, but I was also embarrassed. I called first thing Sunday morning to explain that the transaction was made by me. They still refused to unlock my card because they stated they needed to speak directly to the banks linked to the account.

It's Sunday and the banks aren't even open! So now I have to go all of today and into tomorrow morning with no card because these people decided to lock my card even after I told them that the transactions were mine. How absolutely ridiculous; essentially, Capital One is saying they do not trust their customers. I told them the accounts were mine, they said they still needed to speak to the bank. So, they don't trust me, even though I've been using the same bank accounts for this card for three years! Do not use Capital One ever!

Secondly, I've been with them for three years and they don't even offer credit increases past 500 dollars. I have a 735 credit score, make 110k a year, and have no debt besides a car payment. Yet they never want to increase my credit. My fiancée told me they were a terrible company when we got together years back. But I had no idea of the level of disrespect they have for their customers. Absolutely pathetic company! Do not use this company ever.

Like many others, I have reached my limit with Capital One. Someone attempted to open a credit card using my personal information, which I promptly reported after receiving an alert from my credit monitoring service. Despite my efforts, after 3.5 hours and speaking with five different representatives, I had to give up. Weeks later, I received a letter from Capital One requesting "supporting documentation" for the fraudulent credit card application, referencing an *Application ID* provided by Capital One. Determined to resolve the issue, I called again, armed with this reference. However, after being transferred between eight people and spending an additional three hours on the phone, I gave up once more.

I have since decided to close my account and move on. It is shocking that a company can operate with such a level of inefficiency, where eight out of eight employees failed to grasp or address a clear fraud attempt. Instead of taking meaningful action, each representative simply passed me along with the same refrain: "That's not my department; let me transfer you." I was never given a direct contact number or a clear path to resolution—just an endless cycle of transfers. In total, I spent over 7.5 hours without any progress—no retraction of the fraudulent credit card application, no resolution, and no acknowledgment of the seriousness of the issue. This experience made it clear that the company either lacks the ability or the willingness to prioritize customer security and support.

Capital One has told me my account is closed. However after taking my deposit leaving me with a balance of $7.58 they added $40 for what they call late fees. If my account closed how is it possible to add $40 late fees when capital one a remittance transfer agent has my remittance coupon for the credits of $300 dollars and has not processed my payment before closing my account and every other day they add more fees last week $25 late fees. This week they say $40 late fees on $7.58 cents. Clear sign of fraud. Also Freedom of information act was put in place as a right for consumers to obtain records of conversations and call logs

They want all your banking information just to make a payment when you try to go on the app. It comes up somebody else’s name and they want you to illegally change the password on somebody else’s account to get into yours. They somehow had my daughter’s name on my account and wanted me to reset her account in order to get to my own. The company is a joke. I have never dealt with people that have such a little common sense in my life. Why would I go on somebody else’s account, change their password in order to get to mine? Makes no sense and sounds very illegal, but apparently that’s how they make their money getting other people to hack into somebody else’s account and when you call customer service, they know absolutely nothing.

Some time ago I changed my phone number. It was impossible to register my new phone number. It was actually a nightmare because this credit card DOES NOT give the customer an option to use email instead of phone to receive a verification code. Two years later, yesterday I was returning an item at a mall. When opening my Capital One statement on my iPad to show the receipt I couldn’t because I had taken with me my iPad instead of my flip-flop phone with me. The reason was that the receipt had been sent to me to my email address.

I was trying to get my receipt but Capital One was sending a verification code to my phone. All my credit cards ALWAYS give me an option to receive my verification code by email or by phone! Again this company DOES NOT give you that option! Even if I discussed this matter with them 2 years ago. Still the company today says that they only use phone. Well what about the customer's needs? I now will be traveling to Europe for a month, I don’t take my flip phone with me. How will I be able to pay the bills? They don’t seem to care even when I explained that I will be away without my personal phone. Not such a good company. Does not listen to the customer's needs!

Worst credit card in history which involves 40 years of using them. They sent me two cards; neither works at any gas stations. All my other credit cards do with no problem, and this very experienced card user has never had this issue with a card before. The Capital One customer service blew me off saying there was no record of that. Well when the error message on the gas pump displays, it indicated on both CO cards problems with the chip. No, I don't walk into the gas station; I just use another card (last time it was my Discover card) which worked perfectly. I truly regret selecting it as a card to accumulate Frequent Flyer miles.

I pay my bill in full EVERY MONTH. When I phoned they said I wasn’t utilizing my entire line of credit so they reduced it. They refused to do anything. I explained with my business I order equipment that comes out of the country when I do that I need a larger line of credit. They didn’t care. My biggest complaint is they reduced my line of credit and reported it to the credit bureau. As a result my credit score was reduced from 830. I’m very conscious of my credit score.

I ultimately canceled the card. If a person is approved for a specific line of credit that should not be adjusted especially with a good customer who pays bills on time, in full, never had a payment returned for any reason. Banks are who get customers in trouble financially. They force you to use credit. They don’t care. Then when people are so in debt they can’t get out of it then they will cancel the account and traumatize the customer for payment. I will NEVER deal with Capital One again.

Last month I found out they ruined my credit because they had incurred interest on already paid balance, which again had auto withdraw program enrolled the whole time. They reported a late payment without bothering to even call me. Shameful and inexcusable. After I called them to have them to reverse, the agent falsely promised me he would handle it and clear the issue. Yesterday I found out he did not act on it. I had to call, keep on hold for 30 minutes only to have them say them same thing. This time I asked for the full name and and a reference number. We will see what they do. I applied through my account and it changed my city and zip (I didn't catch this) so lord only knows where it wound up. Got it fixed and even paid for expedited shipping. Received the card and activated it. I decided to use it that night for an online transaction. It was denied. Weird, but maybe I typed something wrong, tried again and denied.

I grabbed my American Express and the transaction went through. I logged into my account and saw and in and out. Ok, for whatever reason they denied it, I will deal with that on Monday. Monday comes, I log into my account and see two pending transactions. I call the customer service number and what a joke - says it was never denied. Why would I make the same purchase twice one minute apart. I called the venue (halloween attraction) and the only payment they have record of is the American Express. I am playing the waiting to see if the transactions fall off. The woman at the venue said if they go through to call her and she will issue the refund. We got another credit card through a different bank for our trip so I may just cancel all accounts with capital one on my return. Also of note, my husband's new Kohl's card through capital one (that he didn't ask for) has yet to show up. I use to love my cards from Capital One, but now, not so much.

In a time of need for so many given the hurricanes, they refused to bump up my credit limit. Asking only a couple hundred dollars. I live a mile from the gulf. Also near Tampa. Both hurricanes devastated us. When speaking to first representative he transfers me to a collections agent by mistake. I’m not in collections BTW. Then next person has no idea about nature of call so explained for 3rd time. And answer is, "We don’t help you in any way during these times. But you can apply for a regular credit limit increase." And of course no answer from this agent either. You will get an answer mailed in 7 to 10 days. LOL. I said, "Meaning not approved." She had no answer. Funny. My online app told me I have a document as soon as she said what she said. Opened it. DECLINED. Garbage company.

Aug 20th, 2024 I flew from Detroit, MI to Birmingham Alabama, for my grandma funeral. Issues at the counter I was not able to rent my reserved rental car, I immediately called Capital, they said they would refund my credit and I was all set. Well here we are Oct 10th, I still do not have my wedding name on my ID, and my refund was never given. I had to spend all this time on the phone today, again for them to tell me, they have not heard from Hertz so that I can get my travel credits reimburse, and I have to wait for another 3 days for my cc to come, which is too late, because I am flying again this weekend. Even after years with them, business owner and on time pays, they will not increase my $12000 limit. I am not forced to use my Amex for this trip, when clearly I just wanted to use my travel credits with CAPITAL ONE. I still recommend to others, I am just taken aback with the one sided loyalty

Phone numbers and address were changed. At that time Capital one did not shut down our virtual cards. Their answer was to keep issuing new cards. We have called every week for 7 weeks and repeatedly sent copies of drivers license front and back with a bill with our name on it. Proving who we are but the scammers were able to continue to charge? The scammers were able to also drain our checking account because it was attached to our cards for faster payment.

I highly advise no one attach their bank account to their cards with Capital One. The scammers also depleted our points. Capital One was not able to protect us!! We have been customers since 2004. 20 yrs! We are in the process of shutting down both card accounts because Capital One didn’t protect us. Their fraud department is Inadequate, to say the least. As I was reviewing, I accidentally hit the upgrade button for one of them. There was no option to confirm and I immediately received the "Congratulations you have upgraded". As soon as I saw this I called customer service to cancel, as the upgrade is not one that would benefit me. I called twice and the second time was connected to a supervisor. I was told this could not be done. The supervisor was very curt and not willing to help at all. I have had Capital One for many years but will be canceling my account with Capital One.

I’ve been a customer with them for years and almost every time I’ve had an issue with my card, they’ve been of no help. I just get a lot of “sorry that happened to you but we can’t help”. Their agents are embarrassingly poorly trained and many of them aren’t good listeners. They’ll pretend to empathize but you can tell they’re sort of dim. There’s often been times the agent I was speaking to made my issue worse (said one thing and did another), and I was left to clean up the mess myself. Sometimes I’ll talk to 2-3 agents on the same issue and get three different answers.

Capital One customer service will do everything to push the blame on the customer and not take responsibility. Their credit card perks are decent but beware if you need their assistance on issues outside of their basic script. So since they choose to restrict my account without notice via mail, email or text, I will now stop making payments in excess of the minimum amount due (over six months worth) and only pay the minimum. Plus all the credit reports show the card active and a available credit balance. Anyone had similar experiences? Also, recommendations for card companies with GOOD customer service are welcomed.

I was declined (no reason given). Apparently it was flagged as fraud in my account. No notification was sent to me to fix. I attempted to use my card this morning and it was blocked due to the fraud. All this is fine. Then I called the customer service line to attempt to fix the card. They told me they needed to verify my identity. I gave them the cell phone of the account to send a text to verify. They told me the system would not allow that number to be used.

I asked them if they could use the mobile app verification system. They told me the system would not allow them to use the mobile verification. I asked for a supervisor. They told me there was no supervisor on shift for another hour. All of these are unacceptable. They told me the only method of verification was for me to go to an open branch (closest one is 55 miles away) and show an associate my ID or send them a picture of my ID. I was in my vehicle trying to get gas using the card so I was unable to take a picture of my ID for verification. Since I was treated this way, I have closed two accounts I had with them today.

Capital One Bank Credit Card has been very unfair to me. I never missed a payment in all the time I had their card and paid off and closed my account on June 28. On July 3rd they took 133 dollars out of my account without my knowledge or consent, bouncing my account. When I contacted them I was told that two of the merchants had not sent in their bills and so I had the additional charges. I told them they bounced my account and they refunded the money back to my account July 19th. So I assumed the error had been corrected and we were even.

September 26th, 3 months after I had closed and settled my account (I thought) I get a dozen calls from Capital One in just a few days and when I answered there was no response so finally I got ahold of them and they said I owed the 133 plus interest plus late fees plus the annual membership fee prorated. I asked them why and they said I had not made any payments since June. Trying to explain that I had no account or access to my old account went nowhere. They insisted I owed the money and better pay it before it was reported to my credit record and affect my credit score.

No matter how I TRIED TO REASON WITH THEM THEY KEPT ASKING ME IF I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A PAYMENT ON THE OVERDUE ACCOUNT! Worst customer service in the history of the universe. They waited three months to let me know the error they had corrected when they withdrew from my account without my knowledge or consent was not any error at all but my fault!

We have not had a credit card fraud claim in 20+ years and when we needed them to help, they failed terribly. We recently created a claim and somehow they changed the amount of the claim (I sent a screenshot of their online form showing the correct amount of the claim), and when I called they created an "exception case" for the remainder of their incorrect amount.

And apparently, sending the screenshot of the correct amount of the claim did nothing, and when Capital One claims communicated with the company who failed to refund over $500 of our returned merchandise, the claims person concluded "we had already been refunded for the amount of the claim" even though we clearly showed we had already deducted the amount the company had previously refunded from our claim. We have hours and hours into trying to get our funds back for returned merchandise, and sent all requested documents, plus more, for clarification. This is exhausting and the disorganization and/or fraudulent actions of the company continue due to Capital One's claims incompetence.

Updated on 10/23/2024: I have three credit cards, my primary checking account and primary savings account with Cap One. I started a new business and applied for a business checking account. I was immediately denied with no explanation. I was sure I would receive another email detailing why it was declined but never did receive anything else. I went to Chase Bank and immediately opened the account with no issue. About two weeks later, I received the claims check for hail damage to my home. The check was made out to me and my wife and the mortgage company. My wife and I bank separately. We took the check to the mortgage company and they endorsed it, my wife endorsed it and I endorsed it. I uploaded it to Cap One and went about my business.

Later I received an email that said "The check doesn't have a signature or isn't properly endorsed." When I called I was initially told that everyone on the check had to be on the account or it couldn't be accepted. I was sure this person just wasn't familiar with the process and asked to speak with someone more familiar with the process. Previously, she had to find out why it couldn't be accepted, I wasn't rude or mean to her. She got someone else on the phone who said both me and my wife had to be on the same account. These things have been very disappointing when you are trying to get things done and suddenly you run into these types of issues. The 2nd person said that since they are online banking and not brick and mortar, they aren't able to do certain things.

I responded by telling him that, "I am not needing to take any cash out, take all of the time you need to clear the check." He said they still can't do it with me alone. Again I deposited it into my Chase checking account and was told they would hold it up to 10 days. That's fine with me and the roofing company. I have a high yield savings account with Cap One and will look for alternatives as well as the checking account.

Original Review: I am very sad to say that Capital One really let me down this weekend. I have my personal checking, savings and 3 credit card accounts with them. I have referred several friends to them over the years. Last week I started a new business and went online to Capital One to open a business checking account. After gathering all of the information, I completed my application and was promptly told that it wasn't going to happen. I was shocked! No explanation. They said, we know you don't want to hear this but we can't open an account for you. That's it. No one will give you any reason for the decision. I will be searching for another bank to transfer my savings dollars and personal checking. A simple explanation would have sufficed, but I can't think of any reason for a denial. It was just rude.

They said I needed to add my phone number before activating the card and they need to verify my identity as the first step. To do so, I was asked to send my photo ID and proof of residence (any statement with my name and address) via email. I complied.

After a few days, I received a call stating that the back of my ID wasn’t clear and that my mortgage statement couldn’t be used as proof of residence. Despite not having my phone number, they managed to call me—how ridiculous! I was then instructed to send a bank statement. I emailed a clear image of the back of my ID and a bank statement. A few days later, I received another call, this time requesting a credit card statement instead. But I had been told to send a bank statement just a few days earlier! So far, I’ve sent my ID, mortgage statement, and bank statement—documents sufficient to apply for a driver’s license, yet somehow not enough to verify my identity with Capital One. This is just too much. I told Capital One to close my credit card and that I would no longer do business with them. Easily one of the top 10 customer service experiences I've ever had, top 5 within the last 10 yr. I was forced into a Capital One credit card through my charge account with Kohl's being partnered with them. I already had a prior issues with Kohl's that I was attempting to sort *before* CapitalOne officially took over their accounts, and was given a number to call once my bill reflected correct charges (After returns balanced out). I did so, and it transferred me to CapitalOne's "customer service". I had the misfortune of speaking with an extremely rude and snarky individual, even after explaining way a charge on my account was wrong, who then insisted we "go through the charges and deductions together".

The incorrect charge? .59$. Fifty-nine CENTS. He was arguing with me over fifty-nine CENTS that was incorrectly charged and was refusing to remove it from my account and told me I would have to go to the store to sort out the problem - all the while telling me there was "maybe a charge I forgot about" or "forgot to return something". If a company is willing to argue with a customer over returning them .59$ it's absolutely pathetic and the worst kind of customer "service" there is. I wasn't asking for 59$, I was asking for barely half a dollar's worth returned to me.

I already planned to no longer shop with Kohl's after this incident, not that I shopped there every couple of years. But this entire argument over returning .59$ to me seals the deal. If I'm able to I'm closing my account through CapitalOne, if not I'm at least cutting up the card. It's bad enough I was forced into an account with them, I at least know I'll never willing do so in the future.

It kicks me out of the app. It absolutely sucks, we have three credit cards with Capital one. No balance on any of them, since this has become an issue. Avoid this bank at all costs. I regret opening anything with them and REFUSE to recommend them to anyone. I originally got my car loan with them (huge mistake) and the interest rate was in the high 20s- I asked to refinance after a year of making my payments 100% on time due to not being able to pay it down with how much interest they were charging, and they wouldn’t let me. So I refinanced with another company and am now at a 4% actually paying off my loan. Then I opened 2 credit cards with them (again, huge mistake) and they are awful to work with.

I have made every payment on time since 2018- I needed to postpone a payment due to a financially rough month, and they barely gave me any options and the lady wasn’t accommodating whatsoever. I would understand if I missed a payment, was late on one or didn’t even make payments every now and then, but for someone who’s made 100% of payments early for the past 6 years and to not help them once, is crazy. Please save yourself the headache and go with a different bank.

Beware of the interest charge they would apply to you if you accidentally missed one payment. I accidentally missed one payment to my credit card Savor One in August. It was roughly $870. The due date was on 8/9 and I paid in full on 8/13. Over the course of 5 days that incurred 57 dollars interest charge on an annual interest rate of 29.9%. I called them asking for a reason why the interest charge being that high but no one could answer my question. Without any clarification, I decided that okay I would just let it go and make sure that I don’t delay my payment next time. So I accepted the ridiculous amount of 57 dollars interest charge and took it as lesson learned. Then it was what happened in the next month that frustrated me so much that I decide to close my credit card account with Capital One. It turned out that there is something called residual interest charge in the following month credit card payment.

It was another 40 dollars interest charge occurred on an amount of 1220 dollars that was still running as a continuation of my August late payment. I did not miss any payment in September but they still apply 29.9% annual interest on 1220 dollars which was not even my credit card bill amount! I am utterly confused and frustrated in terms of how and why that was even happening! You missed one payment of a small amount and they penalize you for two months in the roll. I have decided to close my savor one credit card account with them and have no plan to open any future credit card with them ever again. Hope my experience will help you avoid experiencing any unnecessary frustrations with their credit card terms.

I have to make this review. This is not the bank to work with at all. It is better to go to Community Bank or ask for money somewhere else. I have only 1000 dollars left to pay for my car now and Capital One is planning to repossessed my car after doing it the first time and I am need this car. They send me an email about payment plan and long-term payment but only to tell me to give them more money.

Plus they have add interest on my account by themselves so that what I owe them keep increasing. This is really a scam bank and all this loan they pretend to give you. I have pay the amount from 23000 to 1000 and now they have added interest instead of 1 dollars and almost nothing, I see the interest keep increasing instead of decreasing. This is not a bank to deal with honestly, all they want is that you keep paying them money and they manipulate the interest because they will repossess your car even if it was left one dollars in the account. Community banks, there are other banks you can work with.

Do not sign anything with this bank, they miscalculate what I owe them and never want to adjust the fees. Do not take refinancing with this bank for anything except it is a 3 % percent interest if not they will manipulate the fees in the system and call you to overwhelm you about payment. I am in a condition where I need the car for treatment and lost my main income and they send me an email about options for payment plans. I spoke to the representative and he tell me I do not qualify I have to answer questions and then say yes that I should give them money that same day if not I can not qualify for a reduction in interest and later payment plan.

Now he sent my car to be repossessed for the second time though the amount left is 1000 dollars and they will receive a 700 payment from Hyundai for a refund check, the dealer even said they can contact them if they need to but all they want to do is repossession. Pay your car in cash or find a way to have no interest or really low interest from this bank because they will repossess your car without giving you a time to even recover or even find a another job. Buy cars in cash or find other banks with loans interest, these cars notes from this bank and the way they treated you is not worth it.

If I could give them a minus score I would I think this has been the worst credit card experience I've ever encountered. They are an extremely greedy company they don't really care about their customers the way that they pretend to. The interest rate is always outrageous and I don't feel that's fair being that I've had the card for 10 years and my credit has gone significantly higher since When I first got the card.

I have been extremely loyal to this company for the last 10 years and this is not what I would have expected to get from them in return. I found myself in a very vulnerable situation and reached out to ask for a little of assistance in removing the late fee because they are $40 they declined to help me in reversing the fee and of course the interest rate is not going down no time soon. There's never any offers. I'm literally at the point now where I'm just so motivated to pay this thing off and be done with it because I cannot stand credit card debt anyways and it's a trap in my opinion and they know it. That's why they take advantage of customers who are in desperate situations and rely on them for that reason.

Do yourself a favor just figure another way to pay for whatever it is that you have to pay for. The only good reason to have a credit card is for traveling purposes other than that it's not necessary. If anything you're going to get yourself in a bunch of mess that you might not be able to get out of, and put yourself in unnecessary debt.

The response was that the card was canceled, and no more transactions would be processed. Then yesterday my account only had $900, and they let a fraudulent close to 4k charge go through taking my account negative almost three thousand. This was Capital One's fault because this charge should have never gone through. NEVER! I can never take my account more than $100 negative so why for the life of me would you allow a charge that took it almost 3k in the negative is beyond me. I am now late on my rent because your account executives messed up.

When I spoke to your representative to place the claim, they said there were several charges prior to Aug 23rd from Hertz for different amounts that were not processed because the card was blocked, and a new card should have been issued which it never was. Since this is Capital One's fault, I should not have to wait 10 days to get my money back. Therefore, I have switched my direct deposit, and no money will go into this account until you fix this problem. I honestly believe I should be compensated for this screw up especially since now I am facing a possible eviction due to the incompetence.

I have requested credit line increases multiple times and one gave me a credit line increase of $100 over a year ago after making more than my minimum payment, having a 700 credit score, no collections on my credit and never being late with my credit card payment. They still reject my credit line increase.. Customer service has been the poorest. I have multiple other credit cards and they are constantly giving me credit line increases. I do not recommend getting any Capital One credit card because it’s been nothing but problems for myself.

A few months ago, I saw an ad for Quicksilver from Capital One: "Earn unlimited 1.5% cash back on every purchase, every day. Plus, a $200 Cash bonus." I applied for this credit card, and it was approved. When I received the card, I called the 800 number listed and spoke to one of their representatives about the cash bonus offer. He confirmed this to me, so I started using the credit card. In July, I called to check my balances and the benefits of this credit card; I was told that the cash-back offer was no longer applicable to my credit card. The representative I spoke to was very friendly and assured me she would pass this on to her team leader for review. In late July week, I received a response stating the offer was unavailable. So, I called again to speak to a supervisor, and she mentioned that this credit card offer was based on the applicant's credit score.

When I mentioned that I have an excellent credit score, she couldn't give me a good answer except," I do understand your concerns and issues, but there is nothing I could do for you. I contacted the CEO. Mr. Richard Fairbank, and there was no response. This is simply deceptive advertising to lure consumers to this credit card. Capital One has four different applications for the Quicksilver Master Card on the same platform, which you don't see from many great banks. I wonder how a good bank like Capital One engages in scum.

I called CO and they said to go to WM and see what happened. CO had my account locked so they couldn't look into it. After numerous calls to CO, they then turn me over to collections as I was trying to get my account straightened out. CO customer service was very rude and basically didn't want to look into the issue. Now my credit score dropped 140 points. After writing CO, I was told there is nothing they can do. The agent fee, the hotel fee, and the airfare for TACA Air. The next day we worked with Jen and agreed on the three hotels. I called Cone and cancelled the dispute and was told the dispute hadn’t gone through. Three months later when we go to the airport we are told that WE cancelled the flight!!! And it would cost $1,400+ more to get on the flight for our vacation. Having no choice we paid it. When we got back I filed a dispute on the 1,400+ charge figuring that I would have to pay the original $580 airfare and get the 1,400 back. After several back and forths with Cone I asked to speak to a manager because the people you file a dispute with cannot do anything and they just bog you down asking for paperwork which has nothing to do with the dispute.

Finally a manager informed me that TACA Air’s terms of service are that if you dispute a charge THEY CAN KEEP THE MONEY!!! As if you cancelled. Obviously crooked. Since we booked through Jen we never saw TACA Air’s terms. To further add insult to injury the booking and dispute took place in January and UNDER THE SAME BOOKING NUMBER in FEBRUARY LET ME BOOK OUR seats and carry on bags! And Cone backed TACA on that also!!! To my mind mind Cone participates in corporate crime against the citizens of our country. What is in your wallet???

I want to caution potential customers about Capital One's deceptive payment processing practices, which are designed to exploit unsuspecting consumers. They encourage users to input their personal debit card details, including account and routing numbers, leading them to believe this is the recommended payment method. However, what they don't disclose is that payments made in this manner can take an astonishing 3-4 business days to process.

This delay is not communicated clearly upfront, resulting in customers inadvertently accruing late fees and penalties due to payments not being credited promptly. This predatory tactic appears calculated to maximize profits from late fees rather than providing fair and efficient service. It's crucial for consumers to be aware of these practices because missed payments, caused by Capital One's delayed processing, can significantly harm credit scores and financial stability. This is a severe consequence that consumers should not have to endure due to misleading payment practices. I urge anyone considering Capital One's services to proceed with caution. Explore alternative banking options that prioritize transparency and timely payment processing to avoid falling victim to such predatory strategies.

In May 2024, I booked a rental car via my Capital One Credit Card/Capital One Travel. This was my first time booking a car with them. Unlike other rental car companies that don't require credit card information or upfront payment, Capital One required me to pay for the reservation upfront with my Capital One credit card. The price shown was identical to Booking.com ($349.02), so I decided to go with Capital One because the Capital One credit card would provide collision insurance coverage.

On the same day, 5/8/24, I received an email from Capital One confirming my reservation details with Fox Rent A Car. This was also my very first time renting a car with Fox Rent A Car, and I had never heard the name before this. Upon returning from the trip, I noticed an extra charge of $179.14 from Fox Rent A Car posted to my credit card account. I immediately contacted Capital One, but at first, I was told to call Fox Rent A Car directly. I argued that since I booked the car through Capital One, it was their responsibility to resolve this issue with Fox, not mine. And since I didn't purchase any additional options, there was no reason why I should pay more than the price quoted.

The next day, Capital One called me back to tell me they had contacted Fox Rent A Car and learned that the $179.14 charge was a "mandatory protection fee" that I had to pay. If you have ever rented a car, you know that you will always pay exactly the price quoted unless you decide to buy additional insurance or other protections. You never have to pay a so-called "mandatory protection fee," and if there is an additional fee, it's listed upfront along with other booking details and included in the total price. Capital One is either so incompetent that they weren't even aware of this additional charge or worse, they knew about it but deliberately misled me into renting a car with them. It's disappointing, given the reputation of a big-name credit card enterprise like Capital One. If you're considering doing business with Capital One Travel, you may want to think twice about it.

You have call them to first report the fraud. There’s no way to automatically do it on the app. 2. When you do call you have to wait at least 10 mins to get in touch with someone and when you do they have a thick accent so they are hard to understand. 3. It basically takes 30 mins just to report a claim but they never ask you for any evidence of the fraud. They just say they’ll investigate which again is taking their side. 4. When you do get to submit evidence they just ignore it and say it isn’t sufficient enough even if you have emails showing the fraud was committed.

Honestly I felt like a criminal working with them, it’s a debt trap and they not in business to help you. So now I have a store credit of over $100.00 to a store I rarely use. Bad business Capital One. You should have anticipated that some returns may occur as cards are being transitioned between visa and Mastercard, and planned for helping the merchant and card holder to make successful returns.
