The prior years versions of Kaspersky worked fine, Kasperksy 11 has been a never ending battle to keep the system working and battle bugs/problems. Requires too many ports, and has had too little testing.

As soon as I installed Kaspersky I was unable to download files more than 25% of the time. I am an experienced user and know that the files I was downloading were safe but I could only get them after disabling Kaspersky. It also deleted without asking a number of file that I know are safe and that had been on my computer for years.
Worst of all it killed my email program (Thunderbird). The process would start but not the program AND the thunderbird.exe process could not be killed short of a restart. Most restarts failed and I had to use the power button to force a shutdown and then restart. Tonight I uninstalled Kaspersky (that was a trauma too) and replaced it with another program. Magic! - The computer including Thunderbird now work as they should.

My Kaspersky software was up for renewal. I received a pop-up message that it was about to expire. I went to the application and there was no 'RENEW' button as stated there would me in the tutorial. I called and got tech support and he informed that I would need to call their customer service at (877) 232-4588. I had my email address, License number and all other information. The customer service representative (CSR) informed that without an order number I would need to go back to where I bought my PC and have them help me. I have had my PC for 3 years and had no issues before this with Kapersky but apparently they do not care about existing customers. Two hours of time wasted and they have no regard for existing customers. Stay away from this product!

Unfortunately, zero stars is not an option. My license for Kaspersky is about to expire. I had to go and buy a new version of Kaspersky "Total Security" at Officeworks because Kaspersky's on-line renewal is twice the price of the retail (not discounted) version. Think about the ethics of that as a starting point!! I had trouble downloading the new version of Kaspersky Total Security. No verification email was sent to my valid email address despite several attempts. I tried trawling through the on-line help, but nothing was available. Eventually I rang the help line.
Why does Kaspersky only offer help if you are prepared to allow them to take control of your computer remotely? (They rudely hang-up when you politely decline.) This is the first rule of secure computing - don't install programs that allow remote access! Harvey Norman in Australia won't sell Kaspersky. I am beginning to understand why! I am going to try to get my money back from Officeworks tomorrow. I'll bet I have trouble doing that as well. Oh well, another $96 down the gurgler.

Very disappointed in this product. Just to be clear, in the past, a few years before I purchased the 2018 edition I have had no issues with Kaspersky. It seems that this new practice or model is just not up to standard. Pros: Some sense of security. Cons: Slows the PC dramatically. Caused internet issues. Caused issues when connecting devices through USB ports. A big hassle when trying to cancel subscription. (In my opinion made deliberately difficult so as to dissuade consumers from finding a way to cancel their renewal payment.) Does installed other programs which slows the PC even more. Products are installed all over the place, making uninstalling a real hassle. Pretty expensive for something that does not work as efficiently as your standard Windows defender and firewall.
This product is not very good at all. The cons listed are from my own personal and frustrating experience. Also note, when I contacted Kaspersky staff to help with an issue (the issue being that my iPhone could not be connected to my PC to it up) staff told me it was my fault. Even though a day before the iPhone connected with no issues as i did not have Kaspersky installed the day prior. I went ahead and uninstalled the Product and restarted the PC and had no issues connecting my iPhone to the PC.
Biggest issue is when trying to configure your Kaspersky to suit your needs, only to see that the settings or options are different to the ones presented on their help website and on tutorial videos. With some options missing altogether. Very frustrating. I cannot comment too much on other functions as i had not used it extensively, uninstalling it the day after it was installed and issues began cropping up. I haven't used any programs since and i have had no issues with viruses. If you visit safe sites and don't download from unsecure sources then there should be no need for any additional anti virus software. If you take care of your PC, running tests, doing backups and visiting secure sites, you should be in the clear. But do not take my advise on that, Seek professional advice about PC security. In the end its, your hard earned money, and you have the right to fair consumer opinion. So as to make the right decision.

Last year my experience with Kaspersky Total Security was very positive. It didn't slow down my computer, ran quietly in the background, and did what it was supposed to do. I liked the interface, and the customer service was very good. I recommended it to all my friends, and I also renewed. Well, this time around (2019) it has been a horrible experience. It screwed up my computer so completely that I thought my laptop was dying. It froze constantly. Whenever I tried to do something I'd get that spinning wheel cursor (I use a Mac) and I'd wait, sometimes 5 minutes, for it to stop. Then I'd do the next click and it'd do the same thing. I practically had time for a shower just waiting for pages to load.
I had to force close programs, and force shut-down constantly. When I turned it back on I never knew if it was going to start, or how many times I'd have to try and restart before it took. It was really a nightmare. I reset PRAM/NVRAM, I reinstalled the OS, I ran hardware tests, ran disk utility. I booted in Safe Mode. Any possible solution that I found on the internet, I tried. Then I thought, 'well, let me try replacing the hard drive.' So I did that. Same problem. At that point I figured something was terribly wrong with my laptop and was about the take it to the computer guy.
Then I remembered when I was doing my research about the best antivirus programs a year ago, that some people wrote that some antivirus programs can actually wreak havoc on your computer. Hmmm... one last attempt before I spend what is likely to be a lot of money... I uninstalled Kaspersky and voila! My laptop is just fine. Back to its normal, unprotected self, and I am back to researching anti-virus programs. I took it off my Android, too. There are still 217 days remaining that I paid for, but oh well. Just so you know, I don't usually do reviews, but this has been such a horrible experience. Maybe it will work for you, maybe it won't. Enter at your own risk.

Have you all read on reputable sites that Kaspersky has hacked U.S. intelligence community computers? They have a real problem with the fact that they have strong ties to Russia. So, I am skeptical of them to begin with. So, I had system resource problems and began uninstalling programs. When I uninstalled Kaspersky Free Antivirus, not only did it leave most, or maybe all, of the folders and files in my program files but I could not delete them. I tried LockHunter but it couldn't unlock them or delete them even when it said it would delete them on restart. I finally went into safe mode to delete them. Thank God I know how to do that but I'm wondering if they can use the files left on computers to track users' information. I would not put that past them. I had the same thing happen with Avast. Do they have any Russian ties?

I have been Kaspersky customer for many years but usually used 1-year subscription for my PC. Last time, in November 2017, I have renewed Kaspersky Internet security but have chosen 2 years package. First year of usage suddenly I have started experienced some troubles with Windows starting up - my laptop often required restart just to make Windows running. I never thought that it has some connection with antivirus that I have bought however my Windows software is original and purchased from authorised distributor. But second year of Kaspersky subscription started from very unpleasant things.
First, in My Kaspersky profile it was shown that I have no subscription at all and secondly my laptop has been shutting down and/or restarting every time when Kaspersky was trying to run database update or to scan my PC. I checked setting but haven't find anything abnormal. So, I complained to the CC of Kaspersky and asked to fix this issue. Now, more than one month I waste my time by writing/replying to the company. I have spent time to retrieving some system reports and providing them with extra info. Nothing has been repaired yet.
My laptop still gets blue/black with stripes screen and gets shut every time when it tries to update or run Kaspersky. I have paid money but my PC stays unprotected and getting faulty. And nobody does anything to fix it. I requested their company to return me amount paid for second year of subscription so I can purchase another antivirus software but they just ignore my request. I don't know if anybody else faces such problems or it is just me being so unlucky. Whatever, but I surely will never go for Kaspersky antivirus anymore.

I was a loyal Kaspersky Antivirus customer for the past decade, plus formerly, I had recommended what I felt to be a superior product to many other individuals, and a few organizations. Increasingly over the past decade, however, I was concerned about Kaspersky's tendency to usurp my right-of-choice relative to control over its self-serving and invasive marketing tactics, and my computer property. Additionally, I found it increasingly frustrating to locate accurate account information (including previous purchases and proof of Opt-Out requests for not participating in auto-billing) on the Kaspersky site, or its authorized retailer, Digital River. Product 2018's near-expiration marked the watershed moment when I went shopping for a competitive product, and made the switch. And I am wholly satisfied with my decision to do so (Bitdefender Internet Security 2019).
Kaspersky should step up their Customer Service game (in particular in light of prevailing privacy concerns of their North American customer base), and lose their invasive, nagsome near-expiration marketing strategies. For the last two weeks of the customer's paid-for license, the customer's computer is beset with intimidating messages displayed in glaring red-is-for-danger, "There's a problem with your license", and daily popups indicating "Renew now"-- all of which the customer is powerless to disable. Since this issue has been a reported issue with Kaspersky products for each of the 10 years that I was a loyal customer, I/"one" must conclude that Kaspersky is arrogantly indifferent to the concerns/needs/rights of their paying customers. In a globally competitive market, why should I/"one" continue to pay for such an experience? Answer--I no longer do, and neither do my referrals.

I was looking to migrate to a new Anti-Virus/Security Software. I contacted them via their website and it was recommended that I install their "Total Security" trial and then upgrade to the full version. The trial didn't even last 3 days before I found how buggy the software was. I could not even open a normal browser window without Kaspersky on its own launching a "Protected Browser" and it was always to the exact same website.
I reported these issues and heard nothing back from them regarding this. Being ignored tells me many things as I am a Software Engineer by trade. Needless to say I decided that there was a huge lack of support and there were too many bugs/issues with it so I used the Windows "Programs and Features" to uninstall the program. I even restarted the computer.
I then installed the next on my list to try application. When it installed I received a message advising me that Kaspersky was still installed on the computer. Being told this I went to see if I could find anything on the internet regarding this... Found an article saying that there might be scheduled tasks that were not deleted, checked it out and it was not the case. Also, I did not see any files left on the computer.
I contacted them and things even became more crazy... I had to give them control of my computer and they attempted to reinstall their software (I had a new product and it prevented them from doing this, something I told them would happen). Ended up uninstalling the new solution so they could then re-install their solution to uninstall it again.
They then had me download an additional application and to have them run it while I was logged in to "Safe Mode". They then had me log back in and they said since it was not in the Taskbar it was no longer installed. As I am an IT Professional I was smart enough to have launched into the registry and found the first entry with "Kaspersky". They told me I would need to manually find and delete every occurrence. I could not believe what they were telling me. I also could not believe that they do not even have tools that will clean up a failed uninstall. As an IT Professional I cannot recommend this product and will stay away from it in the future.

Without updating any payment details prior to this and at all, over the next couple of days I received a hefty $156.17 bill from my bank. They wanted access to my computer, when I explained the computer that I am currently on Kaspersky wasn't on it, they still wanted access. Very suspicious. When I said, "I'm not going to give you access," they said, "You have to call your bank," which I did. I canceled the auto-renewal on my old subscription in June of 2018. It auto-renewed on July 1st and I was billed on August 3rd which was 30 days beyond the renewal date. When I asked for a refund they stated that I was beyond the 30 day window and could no longer get a refund. I believe this is unfair business practice as they know that if they wait until after the 28th of the previous month you will not see the cost until your next CC statement therefore not seeing it for over 30 days. I will no longer consider this company as a supplier to my household nor any company I work for from here forward due to this practice.

This was to replace my current ** product scheduled to expired the end of April 2018… (Show More of Complaint). Desired Resolution. Kaspersky is at fault by not reinstating to its vendors to include its refund policy. My packaging does not have that, therefore, I am entitled a refund of $70.44 to my Financial Aid or directly to me now that we are in the 2018-2019 cycle. That purchase was made during the 2017-2018 cycle.
Consumer Business Dialog. Business Management has reviewed the case this customer had opened with support previously and we stand by our decision to deny the customer’s request for a refund. Management explained that the vendor was not authorized to sell the product and recommended they contact the vendor directly. We understand the customer purchased this license in good faith and even offered them a complimentary code, which they declined.
Consumer. Better Business Bureau: I have reviewed the response submitted by the business and have determined that the response does not satisfy or resolve my issues and/or concerns in reference to complaint # **. I kept all of my email correspondence and none mention unauthorized vendor. The emails repeatedly referred to a 30 day refund policy not included in the packaging. I gave them my school's/vendor contact information which Kaspersky did not verify. The packaging has the school’s sales sticker with the date Spring 2015. I bought the sealed envelope January 2, 2018. I started my classes fall of 2016 and Kaspersky codes were sold the same way then. One of the links in the packaging directs back to my school’s tech support to assist with installing ANY software purchased through the school’s technology department. Then 5 hours later, time measured from my first call, I logged in to my Kaspersky account to learn, if the site was working and only to discover that one can change the auto-renewal, but there is no clear and simple path on how to get your funds back or refund. After talking to the customer service again, I was finally able to get a confirmation number to get my money back and promised it within 10 to 15 days. Why not within 24 hours? So, I will monitor on how long it will actually take. I am posting this because I wasted 5 hours to get a refund, a process that should take a few minutes online and done with it. I have been in IT since 2000. I have used many different types of anti-virus and malware and security software over the years. Kaspersky by far is hands down the best out there. Real time updates. They are instantly on top of any new threats that come out and put out updates to prevent you from getting hit by the new threats. I recommend the Total Security. It gives you antivirus protection, malware protection, firewall protection, webcam blocker (to outside sources. Cough Government). It can check your email for bad/virus attachments, it can block ads/banners (which will help older pc's load webpages faster), a virtual keyboard so no keystroke virus recorders can detect your keystrokes/passwords/etc...
I have been using Kaspersky for about 10 years. I put it on every pc that I work on, or recommend it to any user I have to fix their pc where they only had some "free" anti-virus software but yet they still had many viruses on their pc. Let's face it, you get what you pay for. AVG, McAfee are crap! Norton tries to take over your whole pc and is very annoying. There are a few others that are ok, but none as good as Kaspersky.
There are some people on here saying that it messed up their pc. I'd be willing to bet that these people don't know the difference between and exe file and dll file. Their pc is probably an old POS anyway. Invite your geeky/nerdy/techy friend over and get them to set it up for you. Buy them some beer, or flirt with them. They'll take care of you and your POS pc.
And about the call service being in India, HELLO McFly, they aren't the only ones. (Why do you think Trump wants big companies to bring their business back to the US and give big business Tax cuts? If you keep charging ridiculous taxes, any company will go overseas to do their business!) Now people are giving Kaspersky a hard time because they "might" be in cahoots with the Russian Government. These people must be Democrat leftists.

I have been using Total Security for a number of years now. I use it on 2 desktop computers, and 3 cell phones. I have used it on one desktop computer that had a virus on it and I could only fix it using the Kaspersky Total Security Rescue disc. It immediately located a Trojan horse virus and quarantined it for later deletion... Voila, the computer was up and running again and no problems since that time. The frequent virus definition updates are right on & provide the "zero day" protection. That is, as soon as new viruses come online Kaspersky does a tremendous of finding them & issuing an update. I have scheduled Full Scans, Quick Scans, Vulnerability Scans & several other scans. If one reads all the instructions & information about how to use Kaspersky you should have no problems. I am concerned that other users have had numerous problems. I highly suspect that these users have not read the instructions carefully.
You MUST follow all the directions carefully. I use the Safe Money portion and also the password manager. Both function superbly for me on all devices. It is absolutely an excellent password generator & it is easy to manage. It has been several years since I first purchased Kaspersky Total Security but I renewed for 3 years in 2016. Recently there have been several media articles about Kaspersky being run by a Moscow Russia entity. There has been much mistrust about Kaspersky and that they may be involved with the Russian Government. My personal opinion is that even though Kaspersky is owned by a Russian, he can not afford to cause problems by interacting with the government to spy on the users of his software.
So far it is only speculation. If it can be proven that he is in cahoots with the government beyond any reasonable doubt then I will uninstall my version of Kaspersky and remove any residue from all my devices and find another Firewall/Anti-virus company. Until that time I will continue to use Kaspersky as I have found no better software that does what Kaspersky Total Security does. It provides an excellent VPN (Very Private Network), the Kaspersky Secure Connection. That is, encrypts anything going out from your computers or devices. Overall, for my money, Kaspersky is the best. Highly recommend!!

Each time I logged onto Google, I kept getting prompts for unsafe certificates. I would take the time to click through at least 12 warning screens only to have them pop up again 10 minutes later.
When I went to my banking site, the MONEY app tried to take over for password protection and was a challenge to fight back. Based on what I have read on this site, I'm lucky that I was able to disable Kaspersky without problems. I uninstalled on all three computers; cleared it out of my downloads folder; did a disk clean-up, and lastly, did a full system search for anything with a prefix of kts or kas. Looks clean. I think it's worth noting that I purchased the program based on the VERY HIGH recommendation of what I thought was a trusted software review site. Hmmmmm... I have been using Kaspersky Internet Security on my home PC and two others that I maintain for family. All three machines run Windows® 10, both Home and Professional. I am not an IT pro, I am what used to be known as a Power User. Kaspersky's products are not for beginners. Period. If you don't know how to change your homepage in your browser, or that apps are actually programs, or if you don't know what .exe, .dll, .iso, or .bat are, then you might want to get someone that knows about computers to set up your security.
I purchased a 3 year service plan for 3 devices, and I have 131 days left. I have had only one issue with Kaspersky in that time, and I caused it myself. I knew it would break, and I broke it anyway. Otherwise, it has performed flawlessly. It updates the definitions several times a day, it runs the scans when they are scheduled to run, it blocks ad banners in the browsers as advertised, and it's not a major resource hog. But let me say this again, this is NOT Windows® Defender™. This is not a piece of software that you install and forget. You must learn how to use it. It can break your computer if you don't know what you're doing. It can lock you out of your own machine. It can wipe your data if you configure it incorrectly.
Top antivirus testing labs and reviewers have all said the same thing, Kaspersky makes excellent programs. I agree wholeheartedly. I have used AVG, Spybot, AdAware, BitDefender, and a host of small, free anti-virus programs through the years. Kaspersky Internet Security 2017 is definitely one of the best I have used. It is extremely configurable, it's relatively lightweight, and its zero-day detection rate is above 99.7% in most real-world testing. Most of the time the zero-day detection rate is 100%. Webcam lockouts, mic lockouts, real-time program monitoring, heuristic analysis of your usage and usage patterns, bi-directional traffic monitoring, parental controls, and a VPN are good add-ons to have.
There are an estimated 400 million people that use Kaspersky's products worldwide. Think about that when you decide to write a review claiming that they don't know what they're doing, or that they're a ripoff, or that they did something to your computer. It's kind of like blaming Boeing for building an airplane that you can't fly because you're not a pilot. I recommend Kaspersky Anti-Virus, Kaspersky Internet Security, or Kaspersky Total Security to anyone that is willing to learn how to use it, or that knows someone that can set it up for them. TL;DR: Kaspersky products are good. They are not for beginners. Learn how to use things before you write bad reviews.

I spent all day Friday like over 8 hours trying to reboot to my OS and it just wasn't happening. I called Kaspersky Tech support and they had no solution and then had the nerve to want to charge me somewhere in the neighborhood of $119 to connect to my computer and try and fix the problems their software had created, I was like, "Really?"
So I had no choice but to re-install my OS because when I use the restore point it worked but I was left with a OS that had a bunch of problems that were not there prior to installing this software. First my sound failed and no matter what I did upon re-installing the sound card software it just wouldn't work, my search tool would not work thereafter and most of the functions of the OS became corrupted and it turned into a nightmare.
Two days later, today I am looking at a complete wipe of all my data and doing a re-install of all and losing all of my data, music, bookmarks and files, let alone I will spend all day re-installing all my applications, games, music and setting up all the preferences for all the applications. I am very good with machine, I build machines, had no virus and never seen anything like this and I know it was this software that caused all the problems and causing my machine to become corrupted. I tried to uninstall and received a message that I was not able to since I lacked administrative rights. I contacted Kaspersky which sent me an uninstall link which I used first on my wife's laptop, and it worked however it would not allow an internet connection once removed.
I ended up resetting the entire computer from new, then it was fine. This is proof that the software designer does not like it to be removed. Further proof is when I went to run the uninstall on my laptop, it went into blue screen and has been stuck in a loop since, not a single F4, F8, F10 command will work and a Windows boot disc gives me a message that the hard drive is now locked. I have removed the hard drive and have an IT professional wrestling with it now but has been unsuccessful. All of my files and pictures are now gone and this PC has never given me a problem in the 3+ years that I have owned it. It's unfortunate situation to have to open ports to close ports. Screens in a submarine and all Kaspersky enables enough "tar" to stop leaks. Reinstall and update. Most internet programming and script vulnerabilities have some manual setting that can be enhanced. Even stopped completely and if you're not using different types of messaging, plugins and other programs. You have the ability to not use them and effectively block those problems.
Kaspersky was the only product that actually listed most all of the most current "vulnerabilities" 62,000 in the last laptop, which Kaspersky scanned out and after several hours of memory scans and defrags, new operating system and updates the product was able to narrow it down to 4 vulnerabilities each which 1,300 program files! In each! I thank Kaspersky for making it obvious and they did have the option for me to block most of those. The product uninstalls and reinstalls and updates well. Kaspersky offers more methods of containment and or elimination of most all programming exploits. Very powerful. Use what features you need and no others??!

It took two months to solve the issue on Windows 10. Vista however still has the same ongoing issue. Has to do with secure money window not functioning when you go into your bank or other secure sites. P.S. It always worked just fine until updating to 2016.
All standard features as other security companies offer. Nothing really special. Has issues with Firefox, but so do other systems as well. If hacker really wants in they will get in. Operator of laptop fundamentally responsible for not being click happy & researching any questionable sites or downloads. I like most people are paying much more for the protection we are getting than we should be paying. With today's technology the price for security should be going down not up.
Kaspersky like all security software is not the answer to complete protection. Like having protected sex there is always a risk when surfing the net. A wrong or too quick click of the mouse or a poor decision without research can be hazardous to your computer's health. I can't say this enough. Regardless of whose software you are using ultimately you are the best defense against unwanted malware or problems. Be sure you do your research before downloading anything! Do not go to a website that you are unsure of, and most importantly take your finger off the mouse button and never click on anything you are uncertain of. You can't blame your software security on you being stupid.

Earlier this year I would receive almost DAILY calls from Kaspersky's 877 number after cancelling my auto renewal of their crappy anti-virus. I immediately contacted them and told them to stop calling me. In fact, I told them SEVERAL TIMES over the summer and EACH AND EVERY SINGLE TIME, they ignored my requests. This lead to me filing a complaint with both the national and state DNC lists. The state contacted me saying that they 'talked' with Kaspersky and that these scum would no longer call me. Yeah right. Sure enough, they once again have started calling me. This is getting ridiculous!!!

I received the Kaspersky Virus Scan with my laptop that was purchased for my birthday late March 2013 and the irony is despite the laptop being already crap the virus scanner can't seem to block viruses from entering the computer. I have never had this type of scanner before and would not have chosen it but it was bought for me. For years I have used the Norton Virus and will be installing it soon despite the fact that I am still under warranty with Kaspersky.
The person who bought it purchased two for her computer and mine. She has a desktop and after one use she noticed the problems with the scanner and is currently working on her computer without a scanner. It is easier in trying to avoid getting a virus by using Window Defender that has been installed on the computer than to use the Kaspersky Virus Scan. I do not recommend this product at all.

I purchased Kaspersky Internet Security at the recommendation of the clerk at Staples. He assured me that he uses it and that he received the $30 rebate without any issues. First of all, the software regularly tells me to download the most recent updates. When I tried it, it offered to sell them to me. Then it would send me a fake virus alert at least once a month. When I Googled the virus to learn about it, I only got complaints about Kaspersky creating those fake messages. Other than sending out fake virus alerts, the product just sits there as though it was dead. And of course I never did receive my $30 customer rebate from Kaspersky. The product costs $70.00. Most of the better products run about $40.
When I email them they do not reply at all. It's as though they sell an entirely fake product on a disk containing nothing more than some spyware or malware. I switched to another internet security software and now have a good product that reacts to my actions and shows real results and no rebate was needed.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus was recommended after I had a serious problem while using McAfee which failed big time. After installation, it seems that Kaspersky had cleared my machine with no problems since. I have not changed my habits and it works for me.
