I've been using TurboTax for 6 years. I have a simple tax return. Filed everything knowing that they are free. Turns out I got charged nearly 70 dollars. I was never given an option to file for free. I was beyond frustrated at this point because I filed 3 other times with other "bs" when it was actually time to submit my refund. Like I said I've been using them for 6 years. I called TurboTax and was on hold for almost 30 minutes. I asked to talk to a supervisor. He said it was quote "my fault". I will never use them again. I'd rather pay someone to do my taxes than to deal with this again.

I used to use TT online every year, as I usually qualified for a simple 1040EZ, and it was free. My state doesn't have income tax, but if it did, I'd still have paid TT to process the state return for me based solely on how quick and easy the process was. Now it's different. Being married, living in Nevada and submitting Married, Filing Individually apparently brings a requirement to fill out a small and simple form for Community Property declarations. TurboTax won't provide this for you under the free service level, which I understand, from a business perspective.

However, the site waited until the very end of all their wizards and animations and form-filling to tell me about this. Half an hour spent filling out all the stuff, going through their (completely pointless) "checking for errors" animation delays, skipping their constant nagging to pay for unnecessary add-on services, only to be told at the very end: "Whoops, you actually HAVE to upgrade now because the free service doesn't do additional forms you need to submit." The site could have easily let me know about the requirement way back in the beginning when it had all the initial details needed for it to know upgrading would be a requirement.

On top of that, even after I'd acknowledged the necessity and accepted the $34.99 fee (to add on a form that has THREE WHOLE FIELDS I had to fill out), I am then presented with an invoice that has tacked on ANOTHER $34.99 fee, which is supposedly some kind of convenience fee for letting them take the FIRST fee out of the expected tax refund itself...? Right, thanks. So now they've wasted my time and waited for me to enter all of my information (including my bank account info) before they jumped me with fees that weren't expected or even actually clear until the very end.

Oh, and I can't just cancel the return either. They have all my information, including the info from previous years (which, oh look, now they can't retrieve and populate for you unless you pay!), and I have no control over what they might do with it. Hey, if they're now trying to get extra money out of me, what's to stop them from just selling my info off? Then again, I now have a strong suspicion they've already been doing just that anyway.

Look, I get it: tax preparation *can* be a convoluted and intricate process requiring people and software who know the complicated US tax code inside and out. That costs money, sure, but I very strongly object that companies like Intuit are trying to milk the tax preparation process so heavily. Taxes are already costing us money (it's not like a tax refund represents everything we've been paying over the year), so why am I expected to help a company get filthy rich letting me fill out a stupid form and send it in to the IRS? The financial landscape has not changed substantially enough to warrant their ad-heavy, fee-happy behavior toward the basic tax returns people.

My tax return doesn't carry any of the aspects that would require the help of a tax professional; I only needed TurboTax to act as a portal to e-filing to the IRS, that's it. For a long time, it was very good at doing that, and I was always quick to recommend it to anybody who asked me if I knew of a good tax preparation solution, even to those who knew they'd be paying for the service.

Since Intuit decided to be shady by hiding their changed fee structure and free service limitations until the last minute, I'm moving on. These last couple of years have been heavily tarnished with major company financial information hacks, and Intuit made darn sure they got all of my details before they presented me with the zingers that would make me not want to use them, and worse, don't provide a means of cancelling the process and clearing out your information.

Next year I'll have need for more complex (paid) tax prep services, but because of their sneaky tricks this time, I won't be coming back to TurboTax. Who knows what kind of additional fee padding they could work into the program once the forms and numbers get thick and complicated? Meanwhile, I went over to 1040.com and e-filed with direct deposit completely free, including that additional form, in ten minutes flat. No pointless animations and constant upselling, no bait-and-switch tactics with your information, no last-minute gotcha fees. By making the process as painless and quick as possible for a free-level customer, they've ensured I'll be back this time next year when I need more in-depth paid service.

I paid for the Deluxe version to file my yearly taxes and paid the fee of 34.99. There was also attached another fee in order to e-file and establish an account to have my return deposited in. So in order to file my return which was an EZ return the cost was $70.00. Paying for turbo tax is reasonable but then on top of it to pay to have my return processed by a bank is unreasonable. The IRS sends their returns free of charge and 34.99 is not only unreasonable but appears to be usury. Criminal and will never use Turbo tax again. Beware!!!

I filed my taxes with Turbotax today (February 2017). I paid for the services, they charged my credit card. When it got to the end, it said my file has not been completed and to return in February to file taxes. If that's the case, why did they charge me? We are in February, so when do you want me to return back? Because obviously you guys don't know that it's February when it is February. I would like my money back. And why do they not have a phone number to call without having to pay 30 dollars to just have someone call me? That is the biggest rip off and biggest crap ever. I don't think they should be allowed to do this, and if this messes my taxes up, they are responsible for my money back and to fix any and every issue I might run into.

I understand paying for the Deluxe Edition, as my daughter's return (which I am preparing) deals with college expenses for my granddaughter. That's a $34.99 charge I understand. However, they're attempting to get $34.99 just for letting her take the charge off her refund seems very unfair, so I gave my Visa card number instead. Then, when it was time to file the "free" state return, which had been called "free" throughout my preparations, it suddenly added another $36.99 to the charges. Outrageous. My daughter is a low-income single parent and can't afford the state charge. I decided to leave Turbo Tax and find another company with a free state return. However, one cannot file only the state return with another company. The entire federal return's information must be entered, and I don't have the energy for this.

Yesterday I spoke to one of their reps, who told me she could offer me 20% the state charge. I declined, as I'd like the entire charge removed. Today I called back to get the 20%, as anything is better than nothing, and I was informed that, since they have my Visa number already, it's too late. I'm stuck with the entire $71.98 (Deluxe Edition plus state return). So here's the lesson for all you Turbo Tax users, never put your credit or debit card information on their site before you negotiate the 20% off. Apparently they are not allowed to give more than that, according to today's representative, whom we assume tells the truth? Who knows. I'm very, very disappointed in Turbo Tax. This excellent customer is going to find another company next year.

My husband and I made a mistake on our taxes this year. As a result his taxes were rejected and we would not be able to file them through Turbotax. We have been using Turbotax for 5 years. Not only did they refuse to give us any credit back to potentially use next year, but refused to refund us. How is it possible to obtain payment for a service that was ultimately not rendered? Taxes are stressful enough, and having to deal with this type of corporate greed is beyond frustrating. I feel like we always wind up dishing out hundreds of dollars to file our taxes through them. They can pat themselves on the back, they've lost our customer service.

Warning there is no warning in the program that if your Federal Tax Return is rejected your State Return will be rejected. I filed both returns at the same time and my fed return was rejected because some crook had already filed in my name. I had to file my Fed and State return by US Mail and Intuit will not refund my money because they say they filed the return and it was not their fault my returns were rejected. This is BS because if there had been a warning in the program about the rejection possibility I would have held off on the State Return and saved my $20.

I purchased the deluxe version from my "big box store" as in previous years, installed according to the usual process, and entered my tax information as in the past 20 years. Surprise, trying to fed efile I got an error message that my browser was not secure. I contacted my expert PC service person and he worked on my PC for about an hour without success. I called Intuit and was on the phone for about 1-1/2 hours without success. I printed the fed and state returns and had to mail them! Trying to efile the state the software required me to pay about $39 when the page said state efile was 19.99. I smell a scam somewhere. I will no longer be using TurboTax but will purchase a different software like TaxAct or Block's. Bye bye TTax!

Once I was in the app doing my taxes and realized it wasn't free. The app would let me go back to the free version. After 2 hr messing with this I hit OK. Worst mistake. I called the next day. They told me to call back after I received my refund so I did. Was on the phone 48 minutes for them to tell me I couldn't get my money back. After a bait and switch I had only 1 deduction. TurboTax offers a free way to file your taxes online but, when I attempted to do this, you end up having to buy the software and they (TurboTax) decides what level of the software you should purchases. Now, I have been my own taxes for approximately 30 years. (I usually use H&R Block tax software, but for some reason it would not allow downloading the premium package on the business package.) I called and spoke with someone from H&R Block and they tried to assist me with the issue and to no avail, they decided to refund my money.

On February 5, 2017, I decided to try after what I thought was careful research regarding the product. I proceeded to the TurboTax software because they advertise that it is free. You are required to start your tax filing process and by the time you are finished entering the appropriate information a screen will pops up stating which software you should buy. So it's not FREE AS IT IS ADVERTISED!

So, against my better judgment, I decided to buy the $55.00 package and complete the filing of my taxes. When you enter your credit card information the correct price, in my case the $55.00 package, when you hit submit you are charged for an additional package that you did not request. I called the TurboTax people immediately, informed them of the error and I was told that if I submitted my taxes there would be nothing they could do. Fortunately the CSR I spoke could see that my taxes were not filed and stated the transaction was pending so I should not have a problem. After the CSR kept me hold for a long period of time stating she was contacting the appropriate parties within the company, eventually told me that I would be charged for the transaction and no monies will be returned to me. The CSR did not even care that I was charged more than I authorized! I did get in touch with my bank the same day and informed them of same.

I was informed that they will try but sometimes when you hit submit (it will be something to the effect of a no refund policy or something), there may not be anything that can be done. Also, to top it off, I do not even have access to the software as of the date of this complaint to you. I believe... no I am positive that this practice by TurboTax is prevalent and people are being cheated out of hundreds dollars with the fraudulent way they cram extra money onto your credit card. PLEASE HELP!

So then I said, "Okay I'll pay it," and then use the free version to continue. Yeah right! I got so far into the process and what do you know? If you don't want to pay more money then they continually tell you you're going to start over "from scratch," and this phrase is repeated multiple times. Tell people that what they're typing is worthless and see how many clients you lose is the game I guess. So now I tell every single soul I know about how they like to take advantage of people who have no clue why they even typed in their name or information.

I have done my taxes using TurboTax online for the past 3 years (since my 2014 taxes), and I will NEVER AGAIN go back to paying someone to do it for me. I'd rather do it myself and pay NOTHING. I used to pay a professional tax preparer $40, then $50, then $60, going to the same person to make it easy, but then it doubled the following year to about $160. That's when I decided to check out TurboTax.

Some people gave bad reviews because they assume that if they don't get the advertised $0 filing fee, etc. that they have been conned. Every tax situation is different, and some tax situations require that you pay a fee, i.e. business taxes. For personal taxes and simple situations, just don't opt in for the options that require payment, simple as that! Do it yourself and you don't have to pay anything. Now if a professional tax service charges you less to get the SAME THING done, go for it! Go do it somewhere else!

I was doing my taxes via TurboTax. When I started I put in free-Plus. I finished and was trying to send them and a message came up that I needed to upgrade to the Deluxe Edition. I tried to go back it said I needed to delete and start over to get the free/Plus edition. I called them and asked why is making me pay for the Deluxe ed. All I got was the runaround "Are you on the account." I told them it was mine and my husband's. They said "We can't talk to you." I'm like "My name is on the return and I just talked to someone else yesterday." She continued tell me I wasn't on the account. I told her that wasn't right. It is a joint return and I've been using it for years. All she had to do was tell me to go to the account settings and add my name. Instead she said "No I can't talk to you."

I didn't want tax advice. I just wanted to know why they were charging me more and she just kept saying "I can't talk to you" like they didn't want to address the price change on the web page. I hung up are that because she wouldn't explain to me the higher price and why I couldn't go back. I have no deductions. Just 2 w-2's. That's it. No dependents. Nothing. I only needed the 1040 ez one. I don't think they want you do get it free. I'm not going to do them with them next year and maybe removing my information this year and going somewhere else.

I like using them. They seem to be very easy, complete and helpful. However I had to pay them over $100.00 and could not seem to find a way out so I had to agree to let them deduct it from my little tax return. They did a nice job however it was definitely not free as advertised and they also did my State return and I could not seem to decline them doing so. I could have done my State return for free on my state website as I have always done. I guess some is my fault since I'm not real computer savvy. I could not find the right thing to click on to exit and decline them filing my State. Plus they added almost an addition charge of 40.00 at checkout, not at all sure what that was for. I will most likely use them again however I will be a lot more careful about with I'm paying for before I complete it. I was I guess too tired to keep trying to figure out how to decline the additional charges.

Guess what, it has processed my fees at the upcharged amount of $111.00. So I call CS and after being put on hold for an hour waiting for a supervisor to approve the refund for the premium service, I'm told that my request has been denied! What?!? I logged online to file my 2016 taxes. I selected plus because it states that federal and state are federal e-file. When everything is complete I select to have my 29.99 fee deducted from my refund. As I proceed to check-out and confirm to have it deducted I notice a 34.99 fee added just have it deducted from my refund. It's considered a premium feature. I called and stayed on the phone with them for 45 minutes for nothing to be resolved. They basically told me I had to pay the extra 34.99 to have the original 29.99 deducted from my refund which made it a total of 64.99 just to file a simple 1040 EZ form!

I explained I have used Turbo-Tax the last three years and NEVER has it charged me a premium fee to have it deducted from my refund. It makes no sense for me to pay for the premium package. I don't own a home, I don't own a business. The premium package is for more complex situations. In not receiving any of the benefits from the premium package why should I have to pay an extra 34.99 for it to be taken put off my refund directly. It's OUTRAGEOUS!! They told me to delete it all and start over. Which I did and did not change anything. In order for me to pay for just the 29.99 I had to pay with a debit card.

I explained to them how it's false advertisement, if I would have gone to the store and bought the same plus package at the store and put it on my computer thinking I could e-file and have to deducted from my refund free, only to find out that I would have to pay an extra 34.99 after I completed them. Nowhere on the packaging does it state that if I would like to pay for it through my refund would it charge me an extra 34.99. So needless to say it's completely frustrating and taking advantage of the consumer during an already stressful tax time. Definitely will look for other tax return options next year. It's crazy to 64.99 to file taxes for such a simple filing. Something needs to be done. The worst part is the representative told me this was an ongoing problem this year that they already know about. So then why haven't they fixed it!!

Although it seems that TurboTax's claim for free file is that if you can be covered by 1040EZ you can file for free, that was not my experience in using it. I was unsurprised and considered it fair that they put repeated ads for their more expensive options, but I could opt out of those as I began to the filing process. However, when I finally got to the end, I was told that because I had a 1099-INT, I would need to pay more to use a 1040--but that just isn't true! That is only required if the interest income is greater than $1500... and mine was $300 from a bank offer.

And after this, I found that I could not longer enter or change details about my "other income"--taxable student scholarship, and that this too would require paying over the big bucks, although this is also trivially covered on the 1040EZ. So basically, the classic tax technique of pretending to be free, but actually changing the deal available right after you have invested time with them. Thankfully, I won't fall for their ploy. I can file elsewhere. (They seem the most expensive, too!)

State and Federal and I have been able to get my w2 form easily transmitted electronically, at the point of sale I get this edit which says on top of the $40 I would need to pay an additional $31 to finish the state and the refund for the state would be included in my Federal refund or I could opt to wait since the state filings weren't ready yet I would come back to TT and pay to do the State filing later.

So I paid $71 and when I got my refund today, it didn't include the amount I was told on the form at POS only the federal, and on top of that they have a site where you can file the same forms for Free. Well it would be nice if they just made that option available on all the TT sites, this will be the last year I file with TT free or paid since they just ripped me off for $71, I'm done. After finally finishing up and getting ready to file, I had to continually reject the Turbo Max, an optional additional service at an additional fee. After clicking NO I don't want this service 5 times, it continued to add the service to my bill, which I removed 5 times. In the end, I ended up with and paying for the service anyway. I called customer service to correct the forced charge and was told, "sorry no refunds". I feel ripped off and likely won't return to TurboTax next year.

I filled out my taxes with TurboTax again this year 2017. I never had a problem before, but it seems they want to get your money no matter what. First the adds are confusing you all the time, they tell you they will get more money for you if you pay extra, you will do it when you see twice the amount of refund and at the end, after you sent the Federal tax, and start the State tax, you realize that something is wrong and it was a number converted from 1000 to 10000. I wonder if it was an error done on purpose. What at the beginning was a free offer ended on almost $100 plus an amendment to fix the Federal Tax also. This is my last year with them.

We recently got notice that we were being audited by the IRS. We have never gone through anything like this before. We were relieved to learn that we had purchased audit defense through TurboTax for the past several years. Well, let me say now, we will never ever pay for this service again!!! When we got our case accountant Alan, he said not to worry, he'd fight for us, and everything would be OK. Well, after days of hard work putting together receipt packages and giving them every bit of information we could to support our returns, we were slapped with a $20,000 bill from the IRS!

When we called our representative to discuss the results, he became nasty and said he agreed with the findings and to just sign it and pay it. He offered little explanation for my questions and made me feel like we were criminals! He was very accusatory and did not "represent" us one bit! A dog would have done a better job! This is also after he had previously told us he knew our audit officer and they were friends. Clearly I can only imagine his so called IRS meeting was nothing more than a chatty time with his buddy because clearly we were not fought for in any way shape or form. He made it pretty clear he was not on our side whatsoever! When I told him he did nothing for us and we regretted ever using their service, he said to be prepared for the state to come after us too once they "catch wind". So now we're left with feelings of being threatened too and this wasn't information they thought to share with us prior???

My STRONG advice, don't let the IRS intimidate you! If you are ever audited, do not use Audit Defense! Take care of it yourself, and represent yourself! We still don't know what exactly all the corrections were and the IRS actually sent us no fraud paperwork for a completely different person! We are in the process of appealing and representing ourselves. We are also in the process of notifying the BBB as well as the CA state EA board against our representative for bad faith.

In 2013, they showed on CF-1040 Form an option for direct withdrawal from account for payment of taxes. However, that option was not available with City of Lansing. I trusted TurboTax and did not double verify. Now when I see their 2013 form that option is not available in box 31. After several years, City of Lansing Auditor contacted me with due amount details along with penalty and interest accrued. So, while TurboTax may be nice for Federal/State returns, be careful while filing City returns and always double verify. At least in this domain TurboTax is not hassle free.

Turbo Tax has a captive audience since they save user information from year to year. However, that does not justify how poor their product has become. Not accurate filings: I have now received 3 IRS letters saying that my taxes were misfiled. Working with a tax accountant, we were finally able to figure out what Turbo Tax had done. However, it took me 40+ hours to refile 3 years of state and federal taxes. Recently, I started a job across a state line and Turbo Tax even had me erroneously submit payments to the wrong state. Difficult to amend: Turbo Tax (even though it is an online system) does not maintain an online ability to amend past year's taxes - so you are left with either downloading old software or when the software fails (as happens often with Turbo Tax) amending returns by hand. Hidden costs: Not including the hours spent refiling, I also have had to pay penalty and interest fees for each year of misfiled taxes.

Decided to use TurboTax for Oct 15 (late filing) of taxes for a small business. Have had problems with them in the past, but figured where there was ample time to rectify any defects; since the regular filing date of April 15, I thought I would give them another try. Worked through the screens offered by Intuit to calculate Fed and State of Ca taxes. Both returns were majorly in error. There were fields in both the Fed and state taxes that indicated we had made quarterly payments. I never entered such information.

Initially, I started to work with accounting (a CPA). At this point in time all I wanted was a return that was representative and accurate. The Intuit CPA found the errors and suggested that I contact their Flub Unit to obtain a payment for the penalties that ensued (a part of their guarantee). The Flub Unit was very curt. They insisted that I had entered the numbers for the quarterly payments, which believe me if I had made them, I certainly would have remembered (On both counts... having paid them as well as entering them into the tax program). Believing that their computer program was in error, I proposed that I go through the entire TurboTax process again... thus providing them an opportunity find out where the numbers came from. No cigar. I sent an email to the Flub Unit encouraging them to get in contact with their accounting department and there was no response.

Intuit/TurboTax uses a 3rd party to process your refund if there are any charges (e.g., state or audit). You provide your information for the refund (check or bank routing number). TurboTax overwrites this refund destination in your submit to the IRS to an acct with SantaBarbaraBank (SBB). TurboTax however DOES NOT PROVIDE you with any information about this account other than a generic URL https://sbtpg.netverify.com/ which asks for an account number you have not been given. TurboTax when called starts with promise to satisfy your issue, but CANNOT DO ANYTHING about the account they established on your behalf with SantaBarbaraBank. It is not their responsibility.

How can Intuit/TurboTax be considered reliable if they force you to a 3rd party they take no responsibility for. Asked the TurboTax hotline to be escalated to someone responsible at Intuit for handling this specific issue and after multiple tries, was told only that someone would review the notes and contact me. Which has not occurred. DO NOT USE THE TurboTax feature to have processing fees paid from your return. It does not work as presented AND you have no recourse when it fails.

We had been using Turbo Tax for years with no problems... Or so we thought. Then recently we had funds in a savings account that were seized Premier Credit who were collecting for the Indiana Dept. of Revenue. When we called the DOR they said it was for failure to pay 2012 taxes of $462. Looking back on our records, we showed a confirmation from Turbo Tax that the tax return was submitted to the IDOR and funds were to be withdrawn from our checking account to pay the taxes owed.

Fast forward to this year. I try to withdraw money from our credit union only to find there is a tax levy on the account and they are seizing $237 from the account. This came as a real shock as this is the first we knew about any problem with the DOR not getting their money. The bottom line is that now, instead of owing the DOR $462 we owe them over $1100 because of penalties. A call to TurboTax offers no solution and they actually hint that it's "our" fault for not checking our bank account to make sure the funds were withdrawn. Really? I don't mind paying the taxes that are due, but I am not willing to pay the penalties for something that is obviously NOT our fault... Especially when we received a confirmation email from TurboTax for the 2012 return. This whole thing has turned into one big fiasco. I will never use Turbo Tax again.

I chose the latter since my taxes are fairly simple. The only difference that year were nontaxable rollovers. Turbotax, however, did not distinguish between my pension and these nontaxable funds, even though I had explicitly specified that my pension was taxable and not an IRA/SEP/SIMPLE. Box 2a, moreover, defaulted to the nontaxable category. This contradiction should have been flagged in Turbotax's final review.

When I called Turbotax to say there must be a problem given the huge tax refund, they said they stood by their product. I subsequently called Social Security, my employer, and TurboTax for assistance. Eventually, the IRS hit me with a notice and fine, etc. Only by going walking myself through "everything" did I discover the problem. When I informed Turbotax about the IRS, the rep was rude and completely resistant to taking any kind of ownership with the problem.

I paid the $65 fee to TT for the filing, and had them send our refund directly to us (direct deposit). We entered the account details, my wife was watching as I did all that, she remembers distinctly that I double-checked all the account info for the refund. Well, I didn't double-check my return (before filing) so the refund went to some unknown routing and account number somewhere... We looked at the routing and acct numbers that are on the actual 1040 form and they didn't come from anything I typed... Way to go TT, you failed this year, and I paid $65 for that?

The refund was issued on April 8. The "Expert" I just spoke with said it would be bounced back to the IRS within 10 days, since details (name on acct assumedly) do not match. Then, the IRS cuts a check and mails it to you. 5-6 weeks later, you get your refund (by next year most likely). Again, thank you TT. We will NOT be using TT again! Don't they test that stuff?

Have used TT since 2008 and, while I've run across times when I didn't agree with the results and had to revise to my own version, I expect computer programs to handle simple math and transferring info from one form to another. (I'm terrible on arithmetic, so rely on calculators and programs like TT to handle the those basics.) In this case TurboTax 2014 manufactured a withholding amount of $800 some dollars on my pensions out of thin air. That created a refund, that was fictitious, only I didn't find out until over a year later! There was another item I needed to research, so I filed an extension in April 2015. When October came around, I forgot about doing the final filing. When I did remember it, I didn't worry because I "knew" I had a refund coming to me.

I finally got around to filing in April 2016, only to have IRS return the form asking for documentation on the withholding. When I checked the TurboTax file there was that fictitious $800+ on the 1040. When I drilled down, the source document was my pension and that $800 figure (properly) was nowhere to be seen. I was in shock. I was going to have to pay penalties and fees and... Oh no! So I went to town, where we fortunately have a local IRS office and spoke to them. Since I only owed about $100, my total due would likely be under $200. Not great, when I was expecting a refund, but survivable. Whew!

My next plan was to get more info from the TT file and complain to TT. The file was gone! There is no sign of it anywhere on my computer (neither a .tax2014 nor a *pdf file). I'm relatively computer savvy, so I checked EVERYWHERE! I found the program and a 2014 file for someone else that I'd done, but MY file is totally gone. How can a computer program do this? I'll never trust TurboTax again. (BTW, tried to add a copy of my Amazon order page for TT, which I downloaded from Amazon and your system said "file type not allowed".)

From this it generates IRS Form 8962, which is required to compute your premiums, and subsidies, and whether you are entitled to the APTC. It never completes this form, nor gives you an option to do so.

In my case, TurboTax finished the return and calculated a total $2,210 Tax Due without considering that I was required to repay 100% of the APTC received in 2015. I got a 12C letter from the IRS, requesting I submit a reconciled form 8962... which is impossible to do with TurboTax. I downloaded the form from the IRS with instruction, completed it, and it turns out I owe the IRS an additional $3,318 for which I had to file an amended return.

So Turbo Tax was off by $3300. Nowhere in the 2015 "Premium" package do they offer the opportunity to complete this form accurately. They do review your form 1040, say it is "done," and let you file it electronically while claiming that they will ensure all forms and calculations are accurate! Next year I plan to use a CPA to prep my taxes. Definitely less expensive than TurboTax!

But, we both felt like there was something wrong so instead of going through with it I told her that I didn't feel comfortable going through with it and decided to pay someone else to do it. A month later I look at my credit card statement and they charged me. I did not authorize them to continue with the transaction and they charged my credit card. I called and the lady refused to let me speak to a manager and kept asking me how they got my credit card number. I was so furious with trying to get out of refunding my account and the problem didn't get solved. Pay someone else. They were off on my taxes and they will take your money anyway. I was never prompted to pick a product to file with. I have since found out that TurboTax always selects how you chose to file last year (no prompt or option on how to file). After reviewing my filing I found out that TurboTax charged me $104.99 for something I could have filed myself for free on the IRS website. What a racket! I will never use this service again and have contacted some of my friends in the Bay Area who work with press agencies and tv stations to add to the many complaints they are currently collecting against TurboTax! TurboTax is a complete waste of time here. All it asks is if you had health coverage all year. Once you answer yes, it says that is all they need and you are "done". From this they generate IRS Form 8962, which is required to compute your premiums, and subsidies, and whether you got the correct credit if you were qualified. It NEVER completes this form, nor gives you an option to do so.

In my case, Turbo Tax finished the return and calculated a total $2520 REFUND all because of Obamacare. I got a letter (12c) from the IRS, requesting I submit a RECONCILED form 8962... which is IMPOSSIBLE to do with turbotax. I downloaded the form from the IRS with instruction, completed it, and it turns out I OWE the IRS $1230. For which I had to file an amended return.

So Turbo Tax was off by nearly $4,000. NOWHERE in the 2015 "Premium" package do they offer the opportunity to complete this form accurately, or even warn you. And yet they review your form 1040, say it is "done", and let you file it electronically while claiming that they will ensure 8962 is accurate! Second, this company begs and BEGS you to upgrade your membership and spend more money on useless things you probably don't even need. It threatens you with the possibility of an audit and will only protect you if you spend your hard earned money.

Third, this company has been found to be spending millions of dollars on KEEPING THE TAX PROCESS COMPLICATED. Do you think it's bull that you have to pay your taxes AND be frustrated? So do I. TurboTax wants to keep this nonsense going on, when other developed countries have workarounds and tools for citizens, and I find this completely devious and scummy. Since I have been using TurboTax for the last 6 years in this state, I always got direct deposit of my federal tax refund to my CHECKING account number. This year, I had to owe. TurboTax automatically populated the payment field with my checking acct I have been using for 6 years. Somehow, my SAVINGS account was charged... The ONLY way is to change the first 3 zeros in account # to 010. Every year... same account number used... auto populated. TurboTax blamed IRS. I called and spoke on phone at least 30 minutes (they had to document my comments). IRS claimed they have had several complaints along same vein at TurboTax.

IRS gets their info from TurboTax... not the other way around. Basically, I paid Turbo a fee of 54, NSF fee from bank $30, NSF fee + interest of $25.14 to IRS. Each party is blaming other. The bank theorizes that if not enough numbers were in the account number then it was rejected by bank. If someone filled in the first 3 numbers required with a 010 instead of customary 000 that is how it got charged to SAVINGS (I never use savings). The main complaint is no one ANSWERED phone when I tried to verify. Everything was perfect BEFORE payment date. I have been going directly to irs.gov to pay. Have a confirmation and everything. TurboTax can only see the LAST 4 numbers of account. Online purchases requires a prefix of 000 for checking (in person, savings has a suffix of 01). Learned lesson... NEVER pay online from bank account. Never again use TurboTax.

My friend selected to have his refund in the form of a visa debit card, Netspend. What a scam! The allowance of one month to claim the refund without additional fees became a problem because one is allowed only one fee free contact to determine if the IRS has deposited the money. This must be done after activation which will expire perhaps even before the deposit.

Any further attempts to determine if the money is available will reduce the amount to be received by $2.50 each time. My friend's balance will quickly deplete. Another of the many clues that this is comparable to the quick loan stores on every corner in a poverty ridden area is that one of the few atm's that can be used to obtain this money is located by the county jail! First person who comes on the line is just technical, not a tax professional. Second person who comes is a tax consultant. When asked questions she asked me to wait for the CPA. Finally when I get the CPA he did not wait till I filled the forms in question which means I had to wait for another 3 hours to get to him.

Going through this hassle I finished and filed my business tax. After a week I got a notice CP282 from IRS. I called TurboTax and asked for help with regards to the notice. I was told to call and talk directly to IRS and understand the solution for the notice and then get back to TurboTax on how to implement the fix. I pointed out that TurboTax has Audit Support Guarantee promise and asked them if they can be on the conf. call when I call IRS. The staff who spoke to me mentioned that her manager has instructed not be on the call with IRS or not to call IRS.

I told TurboTax representative that I am Green Card holder living in USA for 16 years and I am running this business. When TurboTax software asked me the question if I am a US Citizen I said No, it treated me a foreign partner. The notice that I have got from IRS was due to a bug in the TurboTax software for not clearly defining and showing distinction between domestic partner and foreign partner based on the immigration status of people living and conducting business in USA. The bug would have affected all Green Card holders doing business in USA and who filed their business tax using TurboTax business software. Instead of fixing the bug and helping me resolve the notice the support staff just bluntly asked me to call IRS without wasting time discussing with her.

Then when the actual money is put into my bank account again I get a Text Message for both the Federal and State. Talk about service! Granted it costs nearly $30 to get that e-File option but it's well worth it because it just makes life that much easier and there is absolutely NO Possibility of my taxes being lost in the mail AND my refunds being lost in the mail. My taxes aren't all that complicated but man does it take me a heck of a lot LESS time to do my taxes using TurboTax versus doing it with all those forms and filling in the blanks and having to read what each stinking blank is and if it applies to me.

With TurboTax you just click on whatever you need to know if you need to know. No more digging through those stinking IRS Pamphlets and then finding out later you need to go back online to find the one you don't have. Some people say that the $45 for the software with both Federal & State and the e-File for both comes to $45 plus the $30 ($29.99 actually) which is a total of $75. Heck that's chump change for the ability to avoid the huge headaches of doing it with all them stinking IRS Forms. $75 is well worth saving me all that time and hassle. Some people may not feel that way but the way I look at it is, my time is worth more than $75 just to stay in compliance with the law. No brainer if you ask me.

After I filed, I found FREETaxUSA allowed me an EIC OF $599 for my DISABLED ADULT CHILD! TurboTax 2015 only allowed me to be Head of Household-it did not allow Disabled Adult Daughter EIC $599. It does not have a prompt for Disabled Adult EIC. TurboTax 2015 is unacceptable and highway robbery. It's worthless!!!

I created an account to pay $59.99 for my federal taxes. I spent weeks entering all the information. I had to wait for a form, however, before filing, which arrives yesterday. When I went to submit it, they had removed the $59.99 offer and nearly doubled the price! They claimed my offer had "expired". I did not see any restriction on actually filing by a date. My interpretation was that by creating the account I had locked in the offer. With dozens of hours put into providing my information, they had me locked in as a customer now so I had to pay the extortion. After haggling with them for over an hour, they reduced the price to $84.00 plus an increased state price of $32. Their business practice is deceptive and unfair. I could not file a few days ago because I didn't have the necessary paperwork. They should not be expiring promotions before April 15th and someone should hold them accountable for this!

I was told that they automatically charge what I paid last year. How can this be legal? The only thing they offered me was to erase the entire return and start over. I wasn't assured that this wouldn't result in the same charges occurring again.

After doing my state taxes it tells me this is an additional $40 (never mentioned this before). So now I'm up to close to $100.00. Then at the end it charges me a fee for around $40.00 to process it. I had the same issue 2 years ago. I don't mind the 2 stamps I need to mail the state return, but I am quite upset with their not allowing a free state e-file as they stated in their advertising! During my recent tax preparation, I used TurboTax 2015 online. While using the program I noted that there were things happening in the background that made changes to the refund/balance owed amounts that could not be identified. I spoke at length with a technical help desk person at TurboTax (The TurboTax "help desk office" is in the Philippines and the person spoken with was an engineer, not an accountant - this was beneficial). The helpdesk person agreed that there were issues and that the program was making assumptions based on the program asking inaccurate questions about dependents and partners / common-law and spousal support issues in the initial set up and configuration when starting the tax return. The issue appeared to be resolved and my wife and I net filed our taxes. We also then saved a copy of the return as a PDF to our computer.

The next day my wife wanted to see how the paperwork compared to her numbers, what she found was shocking. The TurboTax program had erroneously assumed I was a "co-owner/business partner" (never asked that question at any point during the set up and review stages) on her return and identified her as "Mentally infirm and in need of support" as a dependent of mine even though the question of her as a dependent was never asked!

I spoke with another representative, again they were in the Philippines, and this person would not get a supervisor or other manager to come to the phone. The only response I got was a one liner "We can do nothing. You must call the revenue department and re-file an amended form"... If this is how they reply to a customer who needs assistance due to a TurboTax Program flaw then you have to assume you will have the same response from them after you need to use the TurboTax Audit defense that you paid for... TurboTax, a flawed program with very poor technical support. Class action lawsuit comes to mind if there are any lawyers out there willing to have a go.

Used Turbo Tax expecting it to be -0- cost as our income was below the government threshold for free filing. Worst experience ever. We are retired. I had a 1099-misc that caused me to have to pay $78.17 for Federal and state returns and then it was done wrong and I had to do an amendment, which I got back a notice from the IRS stating they needed more information to file it. Add a couple more $$'s for postage as an amendment has to be mailed and went to the IRS and State. This was all done with the help of their customer service reps.

Why it was wrong? Their new program is autonomous and I got so shook up over the 1099-Misc that I neglected to put in the SSA-1099's. I indicated we were retired and they never questioned that that income wasn't in there. Well they said it was fine and when I looked it over it looked OK so I paid the exorbitant fees and filed it. Then I looked at it again after I filed it and saw that it was missing vital information, our Social Security income. Obviously they need more training or a better program. I contacted them via email and asked for my money back several times as I felt their service was a rip off. I requested a supervisor. I was basically ignored. I will never use them again. I also would suggest this is not a good program for seniors, they have no real red flags in it to catch missing items.

I selected TurboTax based on this information which I have copy and pasted here: "TurboTax ® All Free(℠). Receive a free Federal return if: Your Adjusted Gross Income is $31,000 or less, OR You are eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit, OR You are active military with an Adjusted Gross Income of $62,000 or less. Note the "All Free" and "Same criteria apply for free state return(s) for any state". I clicked on this link, created an account, began filling out all my information, and 2 hours later I was ready to click the final submit buttons; but all options near the end were telling me I had to pay $29.99 for state taxes. I went back and forth for a while trying to see if I had accidentally clicked on an incorrect option. There were several upsell offers I had to reject to get to the end, but no, I hadn't made a mistake. Then I opened another tab and did some more searching online. I found some support forums and a blog.

There also seems to be some confusion in between similarly named TurboTax Freedom Edition and TurboTax Free Edition. You would think since I read everything and followed a series of links that an ethical company would have routed me correctly or warned me about an expired offer. If I was rich, obviously I'm not, I would join a class action lawsuit and personally seek compensation for the time I wasted on their website and the time I had to take to file on a competitors website. I would also support the Federal Government fining the heck out of them for using the IRS website to perpetrate false or misleading advertising. I called but got no professional, acceptable assistance. Went "back," changed the direct deposit to "mail check" and still got the $34.99 fee. Changed the State to mail it in instead of paying an EFile charge and the $34.99 went away. Clearly a glitch in the software. Now we have to be concerned about a refund check making it safely to us. I used TurboTax for about 5 years, until for whatever reason the IRS would not accept my 2014 filing. Unfortunately, I had waited until just 2 weeks before the 16th and couldn't resolve the prob in time. Took my taxes to an independent tax preparer who saved me a bunch of money in comparison to my previous filings. Unfortunately, late fees and the $200 that I could NOT get refunded from TurboTax superseded any savings and then some! There is no good reason to use TurboTax. They do NOT have customer service numbers and if you can't get back into your account, you're just screwed. There is absolutely no avenue to get back in. I've tried several times to reset my PW and every try is rejected. I really hate this site. TurboTax is a complete ripoff.

I called Jeff ** at TurboTax and he was able to track my refund. As it turned out it was my fault - I gave TurboTax an account number for the direct deposit I rarely use. This was in no way TurboTax's error. I have used their tax services for 5 years and will continue with them as long as I need to file returns. People make complaints about TurboTax but it's still a bargain compared with hiring an Accountant, also, they have plenty of FAQ's and telephone support if you get stuck. I am getting much better at filing my own taxes due to doing it every year and any errors are due to not understanding the tax question correctly. If you do not understand a question call their support. They're nice and helpful.

I click on “Let’s finish…” and it says “Let’s work on your state taxes.” I click on “Continue” and have a choice of “purchase state” or “done with states”. I click on “done…” (yes, I’ve also tried the other) and get to where it says “Let’s make sure your taxes are correct”. I click “continue”, and the loop starts all over. I've quit and restarted TurboTax several times but that doesn't fix the bug. I didn't have a problem working on the state taxes until I downloaded the latest update today. I've used TT for about 10 years without a similar problem. This loop means that I can't even file my federal return. Have other New Yorkers had this problem? If not, can I get a free replacement?

Filed my tax return this year as usual, have been with TurboTax for 20+ years. Let's just say my refund was more than $10K, and I requested an automatic deposit. After 3 weeks, I receive an e-mail for TT saying it can be found in my bank account. After a week with no deposit, I check with IRS. IRS shows they deposited it a week previously. Now I call TT to find out what is going on, using the 800 number on the e-mail they sent me to notify me of the deposit.

After 2 additional 800 numbers (the first one was not valid for this purpose), I get an operator who tells me that because of their "internal security measures for my benefit" I need to go to a secret website. I go there, and bottom line is I need to wait 7 more business days. Message: Since TT was acquired by the private equity company who now owns it, rates have been increasing and they have been finding more and more creative ways TO KEEP YOUR MONEY FROM YOU. I will never use TT again as they can no longer be trusted.

In the save option the app strongly advises encryption, so I chose that option and saved the file in four places. Guess what, some conflict between Intuit and Apple on encryption caused my files to be corrupted. After 2-3 hours with Intuit I was offered a full refund, and told to "start over and don't encrypt the new file". Holy crap, that is hours of effort to redo everything. I paid $91.98 for the TurboTax Premier software. My federal return was fine and was accepted by the IRS; however, TurboTax duplicated my dependents information on the State filing, which resulted in an exemption being claimed twice. This meant that I received less than HALF the refund that TurboTax had calculated. Being highly unsatisfied with the software duplicating error, I called TurboTax and requested a refund, which they flat-out refused to give, stating that the tax forms were "self-prepared" and that they have "never received another complaint about this issue." After several phone calls and the continued refusal of refunding my money, I finally had to call my credit card company and request a refund that way. I will never use this product again, and I especially will not fund a company who refuses to issue a refund when a product fails and a customer is completely dissatisfied.

I've always done my own taxes, and I've used TurboTax (TT) since it became available. Not perfect, but it's worked and I'm comfortable using it. So far. Now TT says next year they will no longer support Mac using Mountain Lion OS or older, nor some really old Windows OS. Now, Mountain Lion isn't very old - it's just that Apple puts out a new OS very frequently. Each time I have upgraded my Mac OS there have been significant problems: some loss of data or function. I absolutely do not want to upgrade from Mountain Lion! So it looks like I won't be able to use TT for next year's taxes.

Intuit has screwed up in the past. They quietly transferred some functions from Deluxe to Premier version without mentioning it to anyone. So people who bought Deluxe had to rebuy the more expensive version, which caused so much outcry that Intuit was forced to issue refunds. So I'm hoping there will be another outcry about the need to upgrade Mac OS. For myself, if Intuit doesn't continue to support my OS, I will just have to try H&R Block software or (gasp!) go to an accountant next year.

The 2016 edition is NOWHERE NEARLY AS GOOD. Because of unclear instructions, we made a double entry in the sales tax section. After 2 different sessions of over an hour each, the techs admitted they could not figure out how to solve the problem. Three different times we requested a supervisor, and were told one would call us. No one ever did. The final summary says everything is OK, and we can go ahead and file, but we are hesitant to file a return we know has an error in it. Though the chances of an audit are small according to TurboTax, the hassle of an audit is not worth the risk. Bottom line: we can not correct what we know is an incorrect entry, and neither can TurboTax. Don't believe the supervisors will contact you. They won't.

When all was said and done I was supposed to receive 2,232 from federal 826 from state of SC and 160 from state of NC. They sent it in and on January 19, 2016 it said accepted by the IRS. So, I figure great and I wait for the time period they said it would take to direct deposit it.

The date goes by when I was supposed to receive it and it still says processing. So, I call TurboTax to find out what happened. They put me on hold and then tell me a tech will call me back shortly. They never called back. Well, I finally got a letter from the IRS saying I will only get back 1,072 federal and state of NC. I have to pay 458 now and state of SC stayed the same at 826. I am upset because I paid over 100 dollars for their service and none of it was accurate and no one ever contacted me about it. I have used TurboTax to file my taxes for the past few years and never had a problem. Even when I filed last year, I had entered the wrong routing number, but received a paper check by mail within two weeks without having to do anything. This year is a joke. I filed with them as usual, and kept checking the IRS page to see when I would be receiving my refund. I filed on the 2nd of February, and the irs page said it was sent on the 10th. When I still didn't get a direct deposit by the 15th, I had figured something was wrong and a check would probably be coming (plus the TurboTax page didn't say any problems occurred, and I hadn't been contacted via email or phone call about any issues) so I figured I'd wait for the check. I finally decided to call the irs to see what was going on, because by this time it's the 25th.

I called the irs, waited on hold for 45 mins, finally got through to someone who explained to me that my money was sent to TurboTax on the 9 of February! So I had to search all over the Internet for a phone number for them, because most don't work. I finally found one and was on the phone with someone for over an hour for her to just end up giving me a number to their "bank" they use that does the deposits, which is a company I have never heard of and had no idea would end up with my money. So I called this "bank" and they said I had to verify my account by uploading mine and my husband's drivers license and it would take 7 business days for them to verify the account. Then after that it would take 2 to 3 days for them to send a check. Then I have to wait for my check to get to Illinois from California.

At this point, I was livid. No one contacted me to say there was a problem! They've just been "holding" my money for no good reason. I hung up the phone and did what they said. Here we are on the 7th day, and the account is still not verified. I called this morning and they're telling me to wait a few more days. Why does THIS COMPANY HAVE MY MONEY? I was supposed to have this money in hand a month ago and now who knows when or if I'll even get it. I have a family to support. I need MY money. All in all, I will NEVER EVER use TurboTax again. And if there is even so much as one penny missing from my refund, I will get my lawyer involved.

This year, like all the years past I purchased what I thought was the Deluxe Fed/State program. Upon completing my federal return I learned that the CD I had installed was only the federal return and that I would have to buy the state return for another $39. To say the least I was not happy, but what could I do since I had already installed the program and finished my federal return.

After buying the state program I returned to the store where I purchased the software to investigate how I ended up with only the federal return. After close scrutiny I learned that the only difference in packaging between the Deluxe Fed and Deluxe Fed/State is the word "state" in very small yellow font. Other than that, the color and design of the package is identical. To make matters worse they were displayed right next to each other on one huge display. I double checked my receipt and confirmed I paid for the program I had selected.

Realizing what had happened I resigned myself to paying extra for tax services this year. However, I wanted to voice my complaint to Intuit Turbotax and so hopefully next year they would design the packaging more clearly. After a thorough search I was unable to find a way to send feedback to Turbotax regarding this issue. I found a page of hundreds of reviews with glowing reviews, but there was no way for me to submit my own. I finally submitted a question asking to "voice a complaint".

After completing the form a phone number popped up. I called the number and waited for the robo call back. When I finally reached a live person I was basically told there was nothing that could be done. When I explained I wanted to make a complaint I was given the address for corporate headquarters in Mountain View, with no department or office. I have little faith that any letter I write will end up in the appropriate hands. I'm extremely irritated with Intuit Turbotax and even though it was my mistake I feel the packaging was misleading. UPDATE: I received a call from a customer service representative in response to my complaint, and was issued a full credit for the online software as requested. This is appreciated.

I would still recommend that Intuit revises its marketing strategy to make clear what the differences in their products are, UP FRONT so that you don't find out after going down the long path of frustration. A clear policy of upgrading and changing product would be a plus as well. It should not have gotten to this complaint level after several unpleasant calls, but I appreciate that they have resolved it to satisfaction. The download product is still excellent.

    Original Review: March 2, 2016

I have two areas of serious complaint with Intuit's new online product and its poor customer service: the online TurboTax products are very limited compared to the traditional download version (but they don't tell you this upfront); and Intuit is unwilling to accommodate a customer who unwittingly buys the online version (thinking it will do what TurboTax has always done), offers to pay for the difference, and is told to buy a whole new product. I have used TurboTax happily for over 20 years, and the disk/download version is a solid product. TurboTax does not tell you how different and limited the new online version is, unless you deep dive into their website to parse out the details.

For a long time veteran, it is easy to assume that it will be the same experience. The differences are significant: No form based entry or review - it is all a linear interview input, limited to ONE tax return only, and they charge extra for state and e-filing, so it is actually quite a bit more expensive just to do one return than the download version which includes free e-files and allows up to 5 different returns. They don't warn you about this as you go into their purchase routine.

You cannot save alternative scenarios of your return to analyze the best strategy calmly, as it only allows one file in motion. I like to look at them side by side, and tweak the files along the way. Its default is saving as PDF, and you have to hunt for a way to save a tax file format. The problem is that you cannot review the tax file format once it has been submitted, or confirm that it is what you need for the next year's upload. You cannot open it on your laptop after sending it, since you don't have the program on the laptop. I have wasted countless hours trying to do what I have always done in 40 minutes or so, and still don't have the solution.

This all being said, I called Intuit within a day of using the online version, to request the option to pay the additional fee for the download ($59 vs $79), essentially asking that they credit what I had already spent on the online version. The website clearly states the guarantee of "Try it and money back if not satisfied". In this case, I was not even asking for my money back, but offering to spend MORE money for what I thought I was getting in the first place. I was told that this is "NOT POSSIBLE" (Since when is something as simple as making a long term customer with a legitimate complaint not possible?).

I asked to talk to a manager, waited 10 minutes on the phone, and spoke to a manager who also said it is not possible. The only option is to BUY the download software (adding $60 to the $80 already spent for online plus state plus e-file). Avoid the online version, and shame on Intuit for its poor judgment in handling what will likely be a very large constituency of unhappy veteran customers. This was customer complaint case # **.

I used them for the first time to file my taxes. In the past I have used a personal tax company to file my taxes but thought I heard many people tell me TurboTax was free. Not at all free. I thought and agreed to pay $100 plus taxes for their service and I thought that was because I had a mortgage now. I thought it would be easy to do the direct deposit option (not knowing it would cost even more) but found out that there was money missing from the deposit.

I called TurboTax (which they don't make easy to contact them) to see what the mistake was. They made me wait for 20 minutes, plus once I was on with a Rep they constantly put me on hold for long periods of time. Finally they said these are additional fees and taxes that added up to an additional $50+ dollars. Shouldn't you tell that to your customer at the beginning, instead of behind their back? If you want to throw away your tax refund use this terrible company who takes advantage of their customers!

I filed my return with TurboTax. First of all, they charged me a $34.95 bank fee which wasn't disclosed until the end of the process (after you're already invested in the whole process). But apparently, I transposed two numbers for my direct deposit bank account. I called the IRS and they said it can take up to 3 weeks. So I thought the bank was holding those funds (because it had been longer than 3 weeks). The bank could verify that it was an invalid bank account number and that they returned the funds to Tax Products Group (AKA TurboTax) the day after it was supposed to hit my account. So they've been holding my money all this time, even though it was returned to them immediately.

Then, TurboTax is saying it'll take another 3-6 weeks to process a check and they're going to charge me another $150 because "THEY" have to issue the check. Screw this. I'm so pissed. I already gave TurboTax almost $200 for my return. Now they're going to charge me additional money and hold my refund longer. I should have just mailed it in.

I used Intuit - TurboTax online to E-File this year instead of HR-Block. Out of curiosity I also did a mock entry with HR-Block online service. The results were staggering!! TurboTax upgraded my service from FREE by demand to a service that was $91 compared to HR-Block's $57 and my total returns (Federal & State) were $600 + less using Turbo. Luckily, I'll go back to HR-Block next year and regain my losses. Turbo's blow & co$t you dearly.

I've been using TurboTax software for years. I usually purchase at the big warehouse store. This year I went online through the TurboTax website. I only needed the deluxe version because I own a home and take a few simple deductions. All throughout the process of filing, the software pushes Audit defense and other products continually.

When I reached the filing stage they hit me with the fee for the software needed to file the federal, a separate fee access software for the state and then after all that, they hit me with an additional fee to file it electronically because there was a refund. Which by the way is the software they push to sell you on during the whole process. I tried to just print out the forms so I could mail them in for FREE. Nope, can't do it. They want their fees! Very disappointed in what this product has become. I used to recommend them to everyone to save money but for this price on a simple return, I'd rather pay H&R Block at my local Walmart. Goodbye TurboTax.

2015 was the first time I filed on the internet. I've always done it on paper before. Turbo boldly promotes a free edition of federal and state filing so I tried it. My taxes are simple. No dependents no deductions just the standard deduction. It took about an hour and fifteen minutes to complete it. Throughout the time they would suggest I upgrade to a deluxe edition, which I declined and always chose the free edition. At the end they said I had to upgrade to view and print my completed taxes. They were misleading and lied and screwed me over. They should be fined for false advertising. I ended up doing my taxes on paper and again lost faith in some of our businesses. If youre looking for a free edition to file don't trust TurboTax.

I am a small Chapter S Corporation and I have been using TurboTax for several years, happy with the process... up until this year that is. I use TurboTax Business to process my S Corp but then take the K-1 output to use as input into my personal taxes for which I use the Home & Business TurboTax. Here's the issue: I began my tax preparation at the end of January of this year, everything was going well... up until it was time to move to my state taxes and as is always the case at that point, I am prompted to purchase my state business tax forms. Upon reaching the state tax form purchase pop-up window I was told that the forms were not yet ready and I was given a future date of Feb 18th at which time they would be ready.

I tried back on the 18th only to be told that the date was now the 24th... and then on the 24th I went ballistic. I tried contacting Intuit and spent a whole 3 1/2 hours on the phone with various agents trying to resolve the issue and to find out what was happening. Without those forms I cannot complete my Federal and State corporate taxes and I will be fined a $200 penalty at the federal level... I don't know what the penalty will be at the state level. One of the agents told me that the forms were available and that she suspected that the problem was with my version of the software (I bought it new at my local Best Buy). She recommended that I speak with Intuit's tech services and get them to send me a new version of the tax software. But instead of putting me through to Tech Support she threw my call back into the queue for a regular agent... and there I waited another hour just to find out that the first agent was wrong.

By this time I was so angry that I was turning red. No accountability with Intuit, no integrity, only misinformation and a gross lack of concern for my situation. As of today... the day on which the state forms were supposed to be ready... again they have pushed the date out now to March 4th. I highly doubt this is accurate, based on their track record. I have no idea how to proceed. I will be hit with penalties for not having my Corp Taxes filed by March 15th. Here's my advice: DO NOT EVER USE INTUIT/TURBOTAX!

I am an extremely dissatisfied customer. I filed my taxes with TurboTax January 18th, was approved the 19th. I received an Identification Verification form from the IRS on the 12th, was verified IN PERSON at the IRS office the next day. On Where's My Refund my refund was accepted by the IRS and I was given a direct deposit date of February 24th. I was excited because I was finally out of the woods... NOT. I checked my account this morning to find that no refund was there, not because of the IRS, but because the local bank that TurboTax used has taken it upon themselves to HIJACK my refund and "hold" my money. I have called this company twice and have waited for over an hour TWICE for someone to answer the phone. I do not wish nor will I pay for this unwarranted "service". If the IRS' verification of my face and ID wasn't sufficient I don't know what is.

While I was on hold I researched your company online and found COUNTLESS instances of Santa Barbara Bank holding consumers' refunds to accrue fees and interest. This is illegal and entirely unethical. I am at my wit's end with this already tedious process and if I am accessed any fees outside of my already agreed upon fee for TurboTax and fund transfer, I will move forward with litigation. I agreed to you transferring my funds to my Bank, USAA on behalf of TurboTax, but because of this and your company's awful reputation I will no longer use TurboTax because they failed to do their research. I would never agree to a local bank that I have never heard of "holding" my refund for my protection. This is extremely upsetting and I do not want anyone else to experience this horrific service.

I forwarding this correspondence along with countless complaints and claims of scams located on any online search, to California's Better Business Bureau, Attorney General's Office, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, TurboTax and the IRS. I will also create a detailed complaint and post it to every complaint board I can find. I am currently trying to call your company and I have been on hold for 45 minutes already. I will utilize the time that your company is using to not answer the phone, to warn other consumers.

I will make it my business to make sure that as many people as possible know not to use your "bank" for any service. You DO NOT have my permission to ''HOLD" my money. I verified my identity at 6 AM EST. Now, I regret sending my identification to such a untrustworthy company. Release my money immediately. This company is claiming to protect against fraud as commit fraud themselves. I am expecting a swift and professional resolution or I will be sure that this company regrets dearly choosing to hold my little $1,363 refund hostage.

After 35 mins, come to find out my taxes have been rejected / on hold and that I will be receiving a 12C tax form in the mail. Once all the documents which the IRS is requesting has been sent it will take 2 weeks to process the forms. Once the forms have been processed and approved it will take up to 6 weeks to get my money...

TurboTax will not help me because I filed on-line and did not buy the CD version from the store. People read the fine print!!! TurboTax will not stand behind you if you do not purchase the CD and I would not even trust that. Now I am out 110.00 or so just so I can re-file my taxes again on my own and wait 8 weeks for my money. I cannot believe I was stupid enough to give them money at all. Having the ability to have the corporation input the data instead of me hand entering it is a very big plus. Navigate could be a lot better, but it is doable. Never had a problem that I am aware of to affect me. I do wished that Intuit had not purchased Tax Edge and then folded most of it into TT. Tax Edge had done very well with their software. The 10% bonus far exceeded the cost of the software, so in effect they were paying me to use it. This year they no longer offer the Amazon option. Since they already had my data from last year, which minimizes data entry, and since I was used to the software, I figured it was worth paying for. Otherwise I would have explored other options.
