I bought TurboTax from Costco and when I got home my new computer does not have CD drive. I called TurboTax and they said no problem and they fix it. After being hung up three times and told to called another number because they said I owe money which is ridiculous. Then they said they would called back which they never did. I recommend you don't buy TurboTax. You never get your issue resolve.

I logged online to file my 2016 taxes. I selected plus because it states that federal and state are federal e-file. When everything is complete I select to have my 29.99 fee deducted from my refund. As I proceed to check-out and confirm to have it deducted I notice a 34.99 fee added just have it deducted from my refund. It's considered a premium feature. I called and stayed on the phone with them for 45 minutes for nothing to be resolved. They basically told me I had to pay the extra 34.99 to have the original 29.99 deducted from my refund which made it a total of 64.99 just to file a simple 1040 EZ form!

I explained I have used Turbo-Tax the last three years and NEVER has it charged me a premium fee to have it deducted from my refund. It makes no sense for me to pay for the premium package. I don't own a home, I don't own a business. The premium package is for more complex situations. In not receiving any of the benefits from the premium package why should I have to pay an extra 34.99 for it to be taken put off my refund directly. It's OUTRAGEOUS!! They told me to delete it all and start over. Which I did and did not change anything. In order for me to pay for just the 29.99 I had to pay with a debit card.

I explained to them how it's false advertisement, if I would have gone to the store and bought the same plus package at the store and put it on my computer thinking I could e-file and have to deducted from my refund free, only to find out that I would have to pay an extra 34.99 after I completed them. Nowhere on the packaging does it state that if I would like to pay for it through my refund would it charge me an extra 34.99. So needless to say it's completely frustrating and taking advantage of the consumer during an already stressful tax time. Definitely will look for other tax return options next year. It's crazy to 64.99 to file taxes for such a simple filing. Something needs to be done. The worst part is the representative told me this was an ongoing problem this year that they already know about. So then why haven't they fixed it!!

Filed on a new account and return was rejected due to incorrect 2015 AGI information. Filed MFJ, but the 1040A combines AGI for both spouses. However, TurboTax required individual AGI amounts, which is not easily obtained, unless you're a tax expert. Later, I remembered my old account I used for all my prior returns, so I logged in and filed again so it would automatically pull in my AGIs from last year. The first time I filed, they charged me over $70 to file. When I logged in and filed using my old account, it was free. Same information, same tax forms, two difference prices. Called and was refused by 2 supervisors for a refund on the rejected return.

I did my taxes online and at the end they ask you if you want to purchase (upgrade to) TurboMAX (by putting an add-on to your charges), but I removed it (opted out), because I don't need additional services. HOWEVER, when I see my final itemized charges, the $39.99 upgrade is included in the bill. I clicked back into the charges again and removed it and went through the whole process and the charge is still there. I had already gone through the whole filing process, so I did not want to cancel my transaction, so THE ONLY OPTION is to agree to the fraudulent charges... or cancel the whole process. I called the number on the agreement, 877-908-7228, but there was no option to talk to anybody. NEXT YEAR, I WILL GO SOMEWHERE ELSE BEFORE I EVEN START THE PROCESS WITH THESE CROOKS.

Although it seems that TurboTax's claim for free file is that if you can be covered by 1040EZ you can file for free, that was not my experience in using it. I was unsurprised and considered it fair that they put repeated ads for their more expensive options, but I could opt out of those as I began to the filing process. However, when I finally got to the end, I was told that because I had a 1099-INT, I would need to pay more to use a 1040--but that just isn't true! That is only required if the interest income is greater than $1500... and mine was $300 from a bank offer.

And after this, I found that I could not longer enter or change details about my "other income"--taxable student scholarship, and that this too would require paying over the big bucks, although this is also trivially covered on the 1040EZ. So basically, the classic tax technique of pretending to be free, but actually changing the deal available right after you have invested time with them. Thankfully, I won't fall for their ploy. I can file elsewhere. (They seem the most expensive, too!)

Don't give them your credit card number - NO REFUNDS. I left my job and closed my 401K. Because of this, TurboTax required me to purchase their completely unnecessary $38 "Deluxe" version to file my Federal taxes. Then they wanted an additional $35+ tax to file my State tax, and an additional $35+ tax to pay with the tax return. I paid with my debit card. Big mistake!! My tax return was REJECTED by the IRS and TurboTax would not refund my money for the Deluxe service which I cannot use. They want me to pay for it again!!!

They tried charging me twice for their top tier program when the filing was advertised to do your taxes free. I called them to resolve the matter and they ignored my request to refund the money. I have been filing my taxes on TT for many years and have done so due to ease of use of the software, this year, I usually file the EZ form due to not having to itemize anything. State and Federal and I have been able to get my w2 form easily transmitted electronically, at the point of sale I get this edit which says on top of the $40 I would need to pay an additional $31 to finish the state and the refund for the state would be included in my Federal refund or I could opt to wait since the state filings weren't ready yet I would come back to TT and pay to do the State filing later.

So I paid $71 and when I got my refund today, it didn't include the amount I was told on the form at POS only the federal, and on top of that they have a site where you can file the same forms for Free. Well it would be nice if they just made that option available on all the TT sites, this will be the last year I file with TT free or paid since they just ripped me off for $71, I'm done. And there is no live people to call just some online blogs, that is of little use.

I have been using TurboTax for a few years and liked the idea of being able to transfer information from one year to the next. I needed to update some personal information this year and was unable to do so. After several calls to TurboTax the situation was finally resolved but I found it unusual that it was so difficult to update my information. After finally finishing up and getting ready to file, I had to continually reject the Turbo Max, an optional additional service at an additional fee. After clicking NO I don't want this service 5 times, it continued to add the service to my bill, which I removed 5 times. In the end, I ended up with and paying for the service anyway. I called customer service to correct the forced charge and was told, "sorry no refunds". I feel ripped off and likely won't return to TurboTax next year.

I filled out my taxes with TurboTax again this year 2017. I never had a problem before, but it seems they want to get your money no matter what. First the adds are confusing you all the time, they tell you they will get more money for you if you pay extra, you will do it when you see twice the amount of refund and at the end, after you sent the Federal tax, and start the State tax, you realize that something is wrong and it was a number converted from 1000 to 10000. I wonder if it was an error done on purpose. What at the beginning was a free offer ended on almost $100 plus an amendment to fix the Federal Tax also. This is my last year with them.

We recently got notice that we were being audited by the IRS. We have never gone through anything like this before. We were relieved to learn that we had purchased audit defense through TurboTax for the past several years. Well, let me say now, we will never ever pay for this service again!!! When we got our case accountant Alan, he said not to worry, he'd fight for us, and everything would be OK. Well, after days of hard work putting together receipt packages and giving them every bit of information we could to support our returns, we were slapped with a $20,000 bill from the IRS!

When we called our representative to discuss the results, he became nasty and said he agreed with the findings and to just sign it and pay it. He offered little explanation for my questions and made me feel like we were criminals! He was very accusatory and did not "represent" us one bit! A dog would have done a better job! This is also after he had previously told us he knew our audit officer and they were friends. Clearly I can only imagine his so called IRS meeting was nothing more than a chatty time with his buddy because clearly we were not fought for in any way shape or form. He made it pretty clear he was not on our side whatsoever! When I told him he did nothing for us and we regretted ever using their service, he said to be prepared for the state to come after us too once they "catch wind". So now we're left with feelings of being threatened too and this wasn't information they thought to share with us prior???

My STRONG advice, don't let the IRS intimidate you! If you are ever audited, do not use Audit Defense! Take care of it yourself, and represent yourself! We still don't know what exactly all the corrections were and the IRS actually sent us no fraud paperwork for a completely different person! We are in the process of appealing and representing ourselves. We are also in the process of notifying the BBB as well as the CA state EA board against our representative for bad faith.

Also, I was disappointed to see on the first page of their Form 540 for CA for personal exemptions. It shows: 2 X $109 = 222. (Instead of 218). I have been using TurboTax for several years (about 15). When I see these kind of errors, I think that it is time to go somewhere else. There is no customer service now that I can call. It used to be ok several years ago. I purchased the software from Amazon.com.

I used TurboTax (CD from Sam's Club) in 2012 and TurboTax online for 2013. In 2012 somehow the tax amount to be paid by me was wrongly calculated and there was $13 due. In 2013, they showed on CF-1040 Form an option for direct withdrawal from account for payment of taxes. However, that option was not available with City of Lansing. I trusted TurboTax and did not double verify. Now when I see their 2013 form that option is not available in box 31. After several years, City of Lansing Auditor contacted me with due amount details along with penalty and interest accrued. So, while TurboTax may be nice for Federal/State returns, be careful while filing City returns and always double verify. At least in this domain TurboTax is not hassle free.

Turbo Tax has a captive audience since they save user information from year to year. However, that does not justify how poor their product has become. Not accurate filings: I have now received 3 IRS letters saying that my taxes were misfiled. Working with a tax accountant, we were finally able to figure out what Turbo Tax had done. However, it took me 40+ hours to refile 3 years of state and federal taxes. Recently, I started a job across a state line and Turbo Tax even had me erroneously submit payments to the wrong state. Difficult to amend: Turbo Tax (even though it is an online system) does not maintain an online ability to amend past year's taxes - so you are left with either downloading old software or when the software fails (as happens often with Turbo Tax) amending returns by hand. Hidden costs: Not including the hours spent refiling, I also have had to pay penalty and interest fees for each year of misfiled taxes.

Decided to use TurboTax for Oct 15 (late filing) of taxes for a small business. Have had problems with them in the past, but figured where there was ample time to rectify any defects; since the regular filing date of April 15, I thought I would give them another try. Worked through the screens offered by Intuit to calculate Fed and State of Ca taxes. Both returns were majorly in error. There were fields in both the Fed and state taxes that indicated we had made quarterly payments. I never entered such information.

Initially, I started to work with accounting (a CPA). At this point in time all I wanted was a return that was representative and accurate. The Intuit CPA found the errors and suggested that I contact their Flub Unit to obtain a payment for the penalties that ensued (a part of their guarantee). The Flub Unit was very curt. They insisted that I had entered the numbers for the quarterly payments, which believe me if I had made them, I certainly would have remembered (On both counts... having paid them as well as entering them into the tax program). Believing that their computer program was in error, I proposed that I go through the entire TurboTax process again... thus providing them an opportunity find out where the numbers came from. No cigar. I sent an email to the Flub Unit encouraging them to get in contact with their accounting department and there was no response.

Intuit/TurboTax uses a 3rd party to process your refund if there are any charges (e.g., state or audit). You provide your information for the refund (check or bank routing number). TurboTax overwrites this refund destination in your submit to the IRS to an acct with SantaBarbaraBank (SBB). TurboTax however DOES NOT PROVIDE you with any information about this account other than a generic URL https://sbtpg.netverify.com/ which asks for an account number you have not been given. TurboTax when called starts with promise to satisfy your issue, but CANNOT DO ANYTHING about the account they established on your behalf with SantaBarbaraBank. It is not their responsibility.

How can Intuit/TurboTax be considered reliable if they force you to a 3rd party they take no responsibility for. Asked the TurboTax hotline to be escalated to someone responsible at Intuit for handling this specific issue and after multiple tries, was told only that someone would review the notes and contact me. Which has not occurred. DO NOT USE THE TurboTax feature to have processing fees paid from your return. It does not work as presented AND you have no recourse when it fails.

We had been using Turbo Tax for years with no problems... Or so we thought. Then recently we had funds in a savings account that were seized Premier Credit who were collecting for the Indiana Dept. of Revenue. When we called the DOR they said it was for failure to pay 2012 taxes of $462. Looking back on our records, we showed a confirmation from Turbo Tax that the tax return was submitted to the IDOR and funds were to be withdrawn from our checking account to pay the taxes owed.

Fast forward to this year. I try to withdraw money from our credit union only to find there is a tax levy on the account and they are seizing $237 from the account. This came as a real shock as this is the first we knew about any problem with the DOR not getting their money. The bottom line is that now, instead of owing the DOR $462 we owe them over $1100 because of penalties. A call to TurboTax offers no solution and they actually hint that it's "our" fault for not checking our bank account to make sure the funds were withdrawn. Really? I don't mind paying the taxes that are due, but I am not willing to pay the penalties for something that is obviously NOT our fault... Especially when we received a confirmation email from TurboTax for the 2012 return. This whole thing has turned into one big fiasco. I will never use Turbo Tax again.

In my case, I have social security benefits. That should have been added back in the the AGI to determine the MAGI. Because TurboTax didn't include it in the MAGI calculation, I will now owe 2015 back taxes, fees, and penalties as well as back additional medicare fees. Turbotax offers the choice at the beginning of the program to walk you through "everything" or else allow you to "choose" for yourself what you want to work on. I chose the latter since my taxes are fairly simple. The only difference that year were nontaxable rollovers. Turbotax, however, did not distinguish between my pension and these nontaxable funds, even though I had explicitly specified that my pension was taxable and not an IRA/SEP/SIMPLE. Box 2a, moreover, defaulted to the nontaxable category. This contradiction should have been flagged in Turbotax's final review.

When I called Turbotax to say there must be a problem given the huge tax refund, they said they stood by their product. I subsequently called Social Security, my employer, and TurboTax for assistance. Eventually, the IRS hit me with a notice and fine, etc. Only by going walking myself through "everything" did I discover the problem. When I informed Turbotax about the IRS, the rep was rude and completely resistant to taking any kind of ownership with the problem.

Own my own home (primary residence, no vacation property). Manage my own stocks/bonds/investment portfolio. Retired with both regular and Roth IRA accounts. I've had no problems. For cases where people have filing issues, makes me wonder if they know how to do things right and get e-receipts to assure the filing has been accepted/received by the IRS.

After sending them the corrected W-2, I received another letter saying I owe and additional $1700.00. How did they mess this up so bad? It's the weekend so I haven't been able to contact them yet. Since the last review, I did some searches on the internet and discovered the user error. It seems it IS not user-friendly BUT there is a way to submit more returns under the email we purchased under. We have to go completely out and find the product and register under the new name but under the same email. Ok. It worked and it even restored the incomplete return we started. This saved us a tremendous amount of time. Ok. I will take my part of the responsibility for this one. but wouldn't it be easier to just have an option on the home page? Wow. Still not thrilled with the program but figured it out. Only 12 hrs. Geez.

We purchased the 2015 TurboTax CD and did our return... Then a friend asked my husband, who is an accountant, to do his. Supposedly, we can do up to 5 returns on our account. When we went to create a new return to do his friend's taxes, THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY TO CREATE A NEW RETURN... This is the most user unfriendly program we have ever used. Never again will we buy another TurboTax product.

I have called the internal revenue service and now I am going to have to mail in a form to the IRS Advocate address, because I need assistance. Where is my dang refund? I got my state one, so..??? It is ridiculous and not right at all to say the least! I e-filed my taxes the first time and that was a really long time ago to begin with. The second time, I was told to mail my copy in and I mailed in to the Texas address and nothing. I don't really know what I am going to do right now, though. So TurboTax gets an "F" for the year. We filed our taxes on Mar. 31, and I was very careful entering all our data and so on. I paid the $65 fee to TT for the filing, and had them send our refund directly to us (direct deposit). We entered the account details, my wife was watching as I did all that, she remembers distinctly that I double-checked all the account info for the refund. Well, I didn't double-check my return (before filing) so the refund went to some unknown routing and account number somewhere... We looked at the routing and acct numbers that are on the actual 1040 form and they didn't come from anything I typed... Way to go TT, you failed this year, and I paid $65 for that?

The refund was issued on April 8. The "Expert" I just spoke with said it would be bounced back to the IRS within 10 days, since details (name on acct assumedly) do not match. Then, the IRS cuts a check and mails it to you. 5-6 weeks later, you get your refund (by next year most likely). Again, thank you TT. We will NOT be using TT again! Don't they test that stuff?

Have used TT since 2008 and, while I've run across times when I didn't agree with the results and had to revise to my own version, I expect computer programs to handle simple math and transferring info from one form to another. (I'm terrible on arithmetic, so rely on calculators and programs like TT to handle the those basics.) In this case TurboTax 2014 manufactured a withholding amount of $800 some dollars on my pensions out of thin air. That created a refund, that was fictitious, only I didn't find out until over a year later! There was another item I needed to research, so I filed an extension in April 2015. When October came around, I forgot about doing the final filing. When I did remember it, I didn't worry because I "knew" I had a refund coming to me.

I finally got around to filing in April 2016, only to have IRS return the form asking for documentation on the withholding. When I checked the TurboTax file there was that fictitious $800+ on the 1040. When I drilled down, the source document was my pension and that $800 figure (properly) was nowhere to be seen. I was in shock. I was going to have to pay penalties and fees and... Oh no! So I went to town, where we fortunately have a local IRS office and spoke to them. Since I only owed about $100, my total due would likely be under $200. Not great, when I was expecting a refund, but survivable. Whew!

My next plan was to get more info from the TT file and complain to TT. The file was gone! There is no sign of it anywhere on my computer (neither a .tax2014 nor a *pdf file). I'm relatively computer savvy, so I checked EVERYWHERE! I found the program and a 2014 file for someone else that I'd done, but MY file is totally gone. How can a computer program do this? I'll never trust TurboTax again. (BTW, tried to add a copy of my Amazon order page for TT, which I downloaded from Amazon and your system said "file type not allowed".)

TurboTax failed to calculate taxes correctly when APTC repayments are required. The software seems to focus on the penalty calculation rather than the tax calculation. It does not accept Form 1095-A entry if you had ACA Marketplace coverage for a portion of a year. From this it generates IRS Form 8962, which is required to compute your premiums, and subsidies, and whether you are entitled to the APTC. It never completes this form, nor gives you an option to do so.

In my case, TurboTax finished the return and calculated a total $2,210 Tax Due without considering that I was required to repay 100% of the APTC received in 2015. I got a 12C letter from the IRS, requesting I submit a reconciled form 8962... which is impossible to do with TurboTax. I downloaded the form from the IRS with instruction, completed it, and it turns out I owe the IRS an additional $3,318 for which I had to file an amended return.

So Turbo Tax was off by $3300. Nowhere in the 2015 "Premium" package do they offer the opportunity to complete this form accurately. They do review your form 1040, say it is "done," and let you file it electronically while claiming that they will ensure all forms and calculations are accurate! Next year I plan to use a CPA to prep my taxes. Definitely less expensive than TurboTax!

Since I have been using TurboTax for the last 6 years in this state, I always got direct deposit of my federal tax refund to my CHECKING account number. This year, I had to owe. TurboTax automatically populated the payment field with my checking acct I have been using for 6 years. Somehow, my SAVINGS account was charged... The ONLY way is to change the first 3 zeros in account # to 010. Every year... same account number used... auto populated. TurboTax blamed IRS. I called and spoke on phone at least 30 minutes (they had to document my comments). IRS claimed they have had several complaints along same vein at TurboTax.

IRS gets their info from TurboTax... not the other way around. Basically, I paid Turbo a fee of 54, NSF fee from bank $30, NSF fee + interest of $25.14 to IRS. Each party is blaming other. The bank theorizes that if not enough numbers were in the account number then it was rejected by bank. If someone filled in the first 3 numbers required with a 010 instead of customary 000 that is how it got charged to SAVINGS (I never use savings). The main complaint is no one ANSWERED phone when I tried to verify. Everything was perfect BEFORE payment date. I have been going directly to irs.gov to pay. Have a confirmation and everything. TurboTax can only see the LAST 4 numbers of account. Online purchases requires a prefix of 000 for checking (in person, savings has a suffix of 01). Learned lesson... NEVER pay online from bank account. Never again use TurboTax.

The allowance of one month to claim the refund without additional fees became a problem because one is allowed only one fee free contact to determine if the IRS has deposited the money. This must be done after activation which will expire perhaps even before the deposit.

Any further attempts to determine if the money is available will reduce the amount to be received by $2.50 each time. My friend's balance will quickly deplete. The notice that I have got from IRS was due to a bug in the TurboTax software for not clearly defining and showing distinction between domestic partner and foreign partner based on the immigration status of people living and conducting business in USA. The bug would have affected all Green Card holders doing business in USA and who filed their business tax using TurboTax business software. Instead of fixing the bug and helping me resolve the notice the support staff just bluntly asked me to call IRS without wasting time discussing with her.

Got on Amazon, found the Deluxe edition for right around $45 as a Mac Download, which included both the Federal and the State, which included the e-File option which is what I love to do every year since it tells me when my Federal has been filed (via Text Message) and tells me when my State has been filed (again via Text Message). Then when the actual money is put into my bank account again I get a Text Message for both the Federal and State. Talk about service! Granted it costs nearly $30 to get that e-File option but it's well worth it because it just makes life that much easier and there is absolutely NO Possibility of my taxes being lost in the mail AND my refunds being lost in the mail. Suh-Weet! My taxes aren't all that complicated but man does it take me a heck of a lot LESS time to do my taxes using TurboTax versus doing it with all those forms and filling in the blanks and having to read what each stinking blank is and if it applies to me.

With TurboTax you just click on whatever you need to know if you need to know. No more digging through those stinking IRS Pamphlets and then finding out later you need to go back online to find the one you don't have. Some people say that the $45 for the software with both Federal & State and the e-File for both comes to $45 plus the $30 ($29.99 actually) which is a total of $75. Heck that's chump change for the ability to avoid the huge headaches of doing it with all them stinking IRS Forms. $75 is well worth saving me all that time and hassle. Some people may not feel that way but the way I look at it is, my time is worth more than $75 just to stay in compliance with the law. No brainer if you ask me.

The answer to my question I had a link to click on until I remove it so I followed the instructions, went to the review step, went through it again, clicked on remove the premium package and then try to submit it and it was still on there. I attempted to try it several times, had no luck in removing the additional charge. I got frustrated and just submitted my return.

When I signed in everything I had typed was erased and now it won't even let me make a comment anymore, it won't give me the option to comment. Customer service is terrible. I waited an hour for a call-back for a simple question about something in the software that was not clear and I work in technology. It's difficult to go back and review or edit information if you don't do your returns perfectly the first time. At least twice when I tried to review my return in progress the software asked me to re-enter info which I had already entered resulting in a doubling of the numbers. Sheesh!

For your money, you are forced to review obtrusive pitches for another level of security which is an additional $59.95. Also, bogus 'predictors' gauge your likelihood of being audited. For example last year despite the 100% guarantee of correct computation, and a 'low' chance of being audited both my sister and I got demand letters from the IRS after using the software.

Our situation is much more complex now - 1099s from more than 10 companies, investments, rental property, K-1s. What was I thinking? I opted in for the more expensive "Priority" package - talk to us sooner and get help if audited. I tried to call yesterday - after multiple attempts, their online message said they are bogged down and cannot respond now. I tried again today - left my number for a call within 20 minutes. Nothing. Called again and left my number. Then again with my cell phone.

Finally, they called my cell phone. After 30 minutes, a very inexperienced phone rep said to delete my info and re-enter it correctly. If I could delete it, I could have figured it out myself. Now on hold for 54 minutes. Still waiting. Difficult to use the TurboTax system. Difficult to follow their logic. Easy to enter info incorrectly. And impossible to get good online help.

It was completely unclear what exactly I was supposed to send to the various tax agencies - Federal and states. When I called TurboTax they were very friendly but completely unable to help. "Just send everything," they said. When TurboTax learns to create neat, separate files, that have exactly the material you need to send, no more no less, I think we may return to this product. I filled out my taxes after I clicked the deluxe edition, paid my fees, bought 2 state taxes & the audit defense offer. I ended up spending $169. That was the figure it presented me with after spending 5 hours filling out all the documents. After I filed it told me there was a 1040a form used instead of the deluxe edition. The 1040a is a free form but they charged for the deluxe form.

I called and received no support from the manager or any help, just repeated no's. I didn't mind paying the state forms or the audit defense form, but I did mind paying for something I did not use. The software never alerted me I could reduce my payment. Deceptive tactics, faulty software, poor support. My feedback didn't matter to the manager because the company had my money. I felt very slighted to say the least. Never again.

During my recent tax preparation, I used TurboTax 2015 online. While using the program I noted that there were things happening in the background that made changes to the refund/balance owed amounts that could not be identified. I spoke at length with a technical help desk person at TurboTax (The TurboTax "help desk office" is in the Philippines and the person spoken with was an engineer, not an accountant - this was beneficial). The helpdesk person agreed that there were issues and that the program was making assumptions based on the program asking inaccurate questions about dependents and partners / common-law and spousal support issues in the initial set up and configuration when starting the tax return. The issue appeared to be resolved and my wife and I net filed our taxes. We also then saved a copy of the return as a PDF to our computer.

The next day my wife wanted to see how the paperwork compared to her numbers, what she found was shocking. The TurboTax program had erroneously assumed I was a "co-owner/business partner" (never asked that question at any point during the set up and review stages) on her return and identified her as "Mentally infirm and in need of support" as a dependent of mine even though the question of her as a dependent was never asked!

I spoke with another representative, again they were in the Philippines, and this person would not get a supervisor or other manager to come to the phone. The only response I got was a one liner "We can do nothing. You must call the revenue department and re-file an amended form"... If this is how they reply to a customer who needs assistance due to a TurboTax Program flaw then you have to assume you will have the same response from them after you need to use the TurboTax Audit defense that you paid for... TurboTax, a flawed program with very poor technical support. Class action lawsuit comes to mind if there are any lawyers out there willing to have a go.

I had a 1099-misc that caused me to have to pay $78.17 for Federal and state returns and then it was done wrong and I had to do an amendment, which I got back a notice from the IRS stating they needed more information to file it. Add a couple more $$'s for postage as an amendment has to be mailed and went to the IRS and State. This was all done with the help of their customer service reps.

Why it was wrong? Their new program is autonomous and I got so shook up over the 1099-Misc that I neglected to put in the SSA-1099's. I indicated we were retired and they never questioned that that income wasn't in there. Well they said it was fine and when I looked it over it looked OK so I paid the exorbitant fees and filed it. Then I looked at it again after I filed it and saw that it was missing vital information, our Social Security income. Obviously they need more training or a better program. I contacted them via email and asked for my money back several times as I felt their service was a rip off. I requested a supervisor. I was basically ignored. I will never use them again. I also would suggest this is not a good program for seniors, they have no real red flags in it to catch missing items.

There were several upsell offers I had to reject to get to the end, but no, I hadn't made a mistake. Then I opened another tab and did some more searching online. I found some support forums and a blog.

There also seems to be some confusion in between similarly named TurboTax Freedom Edition and TurboTax Free Edition. So it's now two months later since I filed, and they've gone into my savings account and withdrew $29.00 more dollars in which I will be disputing and no longer using their product. I was on hold on the phone for almost 2 hours, but that's the least of their problems. It's amazing, a dishonest, lying company like this profits.

I have filed my tax returns on February 28th 2016 through TurboTax online service. It's now March 30th, I am yet to get my federal tax returns, it's been almost more than 40 days now. Over that yesterday, I got an email from TurboTax that IRS is taking time on your federal tax returns so they can't wait any longer and told me to pay their commission of $136 which at first they were going to deduct this amount from my tax returns.

I don't what happened but I am pretty sure TurboTax must have messed out my tax return filings while submitting it to IRS and now they are asking me to pay them their commission. This is insane. I am filing my tax return since last 4 years, I never had such problem. This time it was my fault to choose such a lazy tax filing agent TurboTax. Never in my life I will use this service again. If anyone can help me here as I think I will never get my tax returns this year. Should I re-amend my tax returns in a hope to fill out the details correctly this time? To be clear there is not a single contact number on TurboTax website where you can call and speak to an agent. This is really frustrating.

However, when I went back to work with it, it hadn't downloaded. I bought it at Staples and have been working with it. It is user friendly, however, when I got to filing, it hung up on the Federal Carryover Worksheet and kept cycling back for a State/Payer ID for Massachusetts from a W-2. The W-2 does not have that field. I searched the IRS, no state ID. I searched Google and I finally made up some numbers. When I entered numbers on a line with no information I was able to file my taxes. I am not a particularly happy person. I also found that Intuit charges for filing a state tax return. I can understand charging for a second state return, but not for 1. I regard this as an unacceptable fee and will go to some effort to avoid an additional $25.

However, TurboTax kept trying to enter this in as income from another employer which it wasn't. There was no way to get rid of the amount entered or edit the amount. I couldn't even bring the amount down to 0. I checked all the FAQs listed and contacted them, but no response. There were quite a few other comments about this area. None which answered the problem. I thought there was no way to get the form right so I finished it and paid but after reading through IRS instructions, I ended up having to do my own tax form so I paid for nothing. This is disappointing. I have used the cd version of turbotax for at least ten years. However using the Mac deluxe version of 2015 (bought via Amazon) I find that the cd program brings forward last years 8949 forms (which will be incorrect) then stops you deleting them. This means your return will be incorrect. Customer service wait 15 mins or more but my time is money too so don't wait.

So I switch to an internet version (via Vanguard, used to be free but apparently not now). Get charged again for the Premium version (but you seem to only get told which version you are going to be charged for after filling out the form!), have to re-enter all the data [including the endless difficulty that is involved with telling the IRS about a foreign pension - "no daniel not everyone in the world uses US tax forms!", avoid all the attempted up-marketing Intuit seems it has to do (credit cards, audit protection etc etc) and then finally get left with your data on their computer but no longer possible to edit it. Please let Intuit and TurboTax know that many of us would pay good money for a properly working product with no up-marketing. If you had to open an account, avoid buying upmarket add ons and give away so much information. Every time you spent money we would go back to trading cowrie shells!

After 3 different sessions, totaling over 2 1/2 hours, nothing was resolved other than they would refund less than 1/2 what I paid for the state. Was talking to someone who identified herself as the call center supervisor and asked for a number I could call to get a full refund.

Called the Intuit number she gave me only to hear "service is no longer available on this line." It worked fine in 2013 but reviewing last year I paid about $165 too much to WI and this year I would have paid about $1400 too little - suspect the folks in WI would have picked up on that. This was in no way TurboTax's error. I have used their tax services for 5 years and will continue with them as long as I need to file returns. People make complaints about TurboTax but it's still a bargain compared with hiring an Accountant, also, they have plenty of FAQ's and telephone support if you get stuck. I am getting much better at filing my own taxes due to doing it every year and any errors are due to not understanding the tax question correctly. If you do not understand a question call their support. They're nice and helpful.

Now TT says next year they will no longer support Mac using Mountain Lion OS or older, nor some really old Windows OS. Now, Mountain Lion isn't very old - it's just that Apple puts out a new OS very frequently. Each time I have upgraded my Mac OS there have been significant problems: some loss of data or function. I absolutely do not want to upgrade from Mountain Lion! So it looks like I won't be able to use TT for next year's taxes.

Intuit has screwed up in the past. They quietly transferred some functions from Deluxe to Premier version without mentioning it to anyone. So people who bought Deluxe had to rebuy the more expensive version, which caused so much outcry that Intuit was forced to issue refunds. So I'm hoping there will be another outcry about the need to upgrade Mac OS. For myself, if Intuit doesn't continue to support my OS, I will just have to try H&R Block software or (gasp!) go to an accountant next year.

Even 1 in 5 (Generously Assuming consumers can make mistakes not due to TurboTax's bad product) fine for using government resources would be a large sum in my estimation.

I have used TurboTax to file my taxes for the past few years and never had a problem. Even when I filed last year, I had entered the wrong routing number, but received a paper check by mail within two weeks without having to do anything. This year is a joke. I filed with them as usual, and kept checking the IRS page to see when I would be receiving my refund. I filed on the 2nd of February, and the irs page said it was sent on the 10th. When I still didn't get a direct deposit by the 15th, I had figured something was wrong and a check would probably be coming (plus the TurboTax page didn't say any problems occurred, and I hadn't been contacted via email or phone call about any issues) so I figured I'd wait for the check. I finally decided to call the irs to see what was going on, because by this time it's the 25th.

I called the irs, waited on hold for 45 mins, finally got through to someone who explained to me that my money was sent to TurboTax on the 9 of February! So I had to search all over the Internet for a phone number for them, because most don't work. I finally found one and was on the phone with someone for over an hour for her to just end up giving me a number to their "bank" they use that does the deposits, which is a company I have never heard of and had no idea would end up with my money. So I called this "bank" and they said I had to verify my account by uploading mine and my husband's drivers license and it would take 7 business days for them to verify the account. Then after that it would take 2 to 3 days for them to send a check. Then I have to wait for my check to get to Illinois from California.

At this point, I was livid. No one contacted me to say there was a problem! They've just been "holding" my money for no good reason. I hung up the phone and did what they said. Here we are on the 7th day, and the account is still not verified. I called this morning and they're telling me to wait a few more days. Why does THIS COMPANY HAVE MY MONEY? I was supposed to have this money in hand a month ago and now who knows when or if I'll even get it. I have a family to support. I need MY money. All in all, I will NEVER EVER use TurboTax again. And if there is even so much as one penny missing from my refund, I will get my lawyer involved.

I have used TurboTax for years and have been generally satisfied with the program. However, I've never had any contact with customer service until now. This year, like all the years past I purchased what I thought was the Deluxe Fed/State program. Upon completing my federal return I learned that the CD I had installed was only the federal return and that I would have to buy the state return for another $39. To say the least I was not happy, but what could I do since I had already installed the program and finished my federal return.

After buying the state program I returned to the store where I purchased the software to investigate how I ended up with only the federal return. After close scrutiny I learned that the only difference in packaging between the Deluxe Fed and Deluxe Fed/State is the word "state" in very small yellow font. Other than that, the color and design of the package is identical. To make matters worse they were displayed right next to each other on one huge display. I double checked my receipt and confirmed I paid for the program I had selected.

Realizing what had happened I resigned myself to paying extra for tax services this year. However, I wanted to voice my complaint to Intuit Turbotax and so hopefully next year they would design the packaging more clearly. After a thorough search I was unable to find a way to send feedback to Turbotax regarding this issue. I found a page of hundreds of reviews with glowing reviews, but there was no way for me to submit my own. I finally submitted a question asking to "voice a complaint".

After completing the form a phone number popped up. I called the number and waited for the robo call back. When I finally reached a live person I was basically told there was nothing that could be done. When I explained I wanted to make a complaint I was given the address for corporate headquarters in Mountain View, with no department or office. I have little faith that any letter I write will end up in the appropriate hands. I'm extremely irritated with Intuit Turbotax and even though it was my mistake I feel the packaging was misleading. I can't believe I am the only person this has happened to. The lack of customer service is astonishing. Intuit has lost a long time customer.

I figured I'd give TurboTax a try. Boy was this product horrible. Not only was the app constantly trying to push additional features on you at the end of entering all of my w-2s I am informed you need to pay an additional fee to file. Bait and switch at its finest. On top of it all, I still haven't received my federal return and it's been nearly 3 weeks. The IRS WMR site still says it's being processed. While using H&R in the past I would receive both my fed and state returns in right around a week after filing. Horrible experience and from what I can tell I wasn't the only one. Terminology on help screens does not match terminology on data entry screen, thus making error correction nearly impossible. When I finally got someone to call me back, the person was totally useless. I needed to have them tell me how to delete a form in my state tax return because their online help is no help, and when I tried to delete the form by clicking the delete button, it would delete and then come right back. The person that I finally got ahold of after about an hour, didn't have a clue and then transferred me to someone I knew couldn't help me with deleting a form, in the tax or audit department. After waiting for an additional 20 minutes for someone to answer the phone, I hung up in frustration. After buying the more expensive Premier software, I now find myself having to manually fill in my state tax return because TurboTax is fairly useless as far as I'm concerned. I was supposed to find this out on my own because according to Kim ID** of Santa Barbara Tax Products Group, it is my responsibility to follow up. Not that I haven't been trying. Updated review: March 5, 2016

UPDATE: I received a call from a customer service representative in response to my complaint, and was issued a full credit for the online software as requested. This is appreciated.

I would still recommend that Intuit revises its marketing strategy to make clear what the differences in their products are, UP FRONT so that you don't find out after going down the long path of frustration. A clear policy of upgrading and changing product would be a plus as well. It should not have gotten to this complaint level after several unpleasant calls, but I appreciate that they have resolved it to satisfaction. The download product is still excellent.

    Original Review: March 2, 2016

I have two areas of serious complaint with Intuit's new online product and its poor customer service: the online TurboTax products are very limited compared to the traditional download version (but they don't tell you this upfront); and Intuit is unwilling to accommodate a customer who unwittingly buys the online version (thinking it will do what TurboTax has always done), offers to pay for the difference, and is told to buy a whole new product. I have used TurboTax happily for over 20 years, and the disk/download version is a solid product. TurboTax does not tell you how different and limited the new online version is, unless you deep dive into their website to parse out the details.

For a long time veteran, it is easy to assume that it will be the same experience. The differences are significant: No form based entry or review - it is all a linear interview input, limited to ONE tax return only, and they charge extra for state and e-filing, so it is actually quite a bit more expensive just to do one return than the download version which includes free e-files and allows up to 5 different returns. They don't warn you about this as you go into their purchase routine.

You cannot save alternative scenarios of your return to analyze the best strategy calmly, as it only allows one file in motion. I like to look at them side by side, and tweak the files along the way. Its default is saving as PDF, and you have to hunt for a way to save a tax file format. The problem is that you cannot review the tax file format once it has been submitted, or confirm that it is what you need for the next year's upload. You cannot open it on your laptop after sending it, since you don't have the program on the laptop. I have wasted countless hours trying to do what I have always done in 40 minutes or so, and still don't have the solution.

This all being said, I called Intuit within a day of using the online version, to request the option to pay the additional fee for the download ($59 vs $79), essentially asking that they credit what I had already spent on the online version. The website clearly states the guarantee of "Try it and money back if not satisfied". In this case, I was not even asking for my money back, but offering to spend MORE money for what I thought I was getting in the first place. I was told that this is "NOT POSSIBLE" (Since when is something as simple as making a long term customer with a legitimate complaint not possible?).

I asked to talk to a manager, waited 10 minutes on the phone, and spoke to a manager who also said it is not possible. The only option is to BUY the download software (adding $60 to the $80 already spent for online plus state plus e-file). Avoid the online version, and shame on Intuit for its poor judgment in handling what will likely be a very large constituency of unhappy veteran customers. This was customer complaint case # **.

I used them for the first time to file my taxes. In the past I have used a personal tax company to file my taxes but thought I heard many people tell me TurboTax was free. Not at all free. I thought and agreed to pay $100 plus taxes for their service and I thought that was because I had a mortgage now. I thought it would be easy to do the direct deposit option (not knowing it would cost even more) but found out that there was money missing from the deposit.

I called TurboTax (which they don't make easy to contact them) to see what the mistake was. They made me wait for 20 minutes, plus once I was on with a Rep they constantly put me on hold for long periods of time. Finally they said these are additional fees and taxes that added up to an additional $50+ dollars. Shouldn't you tell that to your customer at the beginning, instead of behind their back? I filed my return with TurboTax. First of all, they charged me a $34.95 bank fee which wasn't disclosed until the end of the process (after you're already invested in the whole process). But apparently, I transposed two numbers for my direct deposit bank account. I called the IRS and they said it can take up to 3 weeks. So I thought the bank was holding those funds (because it had been longer than 3 weeks). The bank could verify that it was an invalid bank account number and that they returned the funds to Tax Products Group (AKA TurboTax) the day after it was supposed to hit my account. So they've been holding my money all this time, even though it was returned to them immediately.

Then, TurboTax is saying it'll take another 3-6 weeks to process a check and they're going to charge me another $150 because "THEY" have to issue the check. Screw this. I'm so pissed. I already gave TurboTax almost $200 for my return. Now they're going to charge me additional money and hold my refund longer. I should have just mailed it in.

When I reached the filing stage they hit me with the fee for the software needed to file the federal, a separate fee access software for the state and then after all that, they hit me with an additional fee to file it electronically because there was a refund. Which by the way is the software they push to sell you on during the whole process. I tried to just print out the forms so I could mail them in for FREE. Nope, can't do it. They want their fees! I use TurboTax Business to process my S Corp but then take the K-1 output to use as input into my personal taxes for which I use the Home & Business TurboTax. Here's the issue: I began my tax preparation at the end of January of this year, everything was going well... up until it was time to move to my state taxes and as is always the case at that point, I am prompted to purchase my state business tax forms. Upon reaching the state tax form purchase pop-up window I was told that the forms were not yet ready and I was given a future date of Feb 18th at which time they would be ready.

I tried back on the 18th only to be told that the date was now the 24th... and then on the 24th I went ballistic. I tried contacting Intuit and spent a whole 3 1/2 hours on the phone with various agents trying to resolve the issue and to find out what was happening. Without those forms I cannot complete my Federal and State corporate taxes and I will be fined a $200 penalty at the federal level... I don't know what the penalty will be at the state level. One of the agents told me that the forms were available and that she suspected that the problem was with my version of the software (I bought it new at my local Best Buy). She recommended that I speak with Intuit's tech services and get them to send me a new version of the tax software. But instead of putting me through to Tech Support she threw my call back into the queue for a regular agent... and there I waited another hour just to find out that the first agent was wrong.

By this time I was so angry that I was turning red. No accountability with Intuit, no integrity, only misinformation and a gross lack of concern for my situation. As of today... the day on which the state forms were supposed to be ready... again they have pushed the date out now to March 4th. I highly doubt this is accurate, based on their track record. I have no idea how to proceed. I will be hit with penalties for not having my Corp Taxes filed by March 15th. Here's my advice: DO NOT EVER USE INTUIT/TURBOTAX!

I checked my account this morning to find that no refund was there, not because of the IRS, but because the local bank that TurboTax used has taken it upon themselves to HIJACK my refund and "hold" my money. I have called this company twice and have waited for over an hour TWICE for someone to answer the phone. I do not wish nor will I pay for this unwarranted "service". I would never agree to a local bank that I have never heard of "holding" my refund for my protection. This is extremely upsetting and I do not want anyone else to experience this horrific service.

I forwarding this correspondence along with countless complaints and claims of scams located on any online search, to California's Better Business Bureau, Attorney General's Office, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, TurboTax and the IRS. I will also create a detailed complaint and post it to every complaint board I can find. I am currently trying to call your company and I have been on hold for 45 minutes already. I will make it my business to make sure that as many people as possible know not to use your "bank" for any service. You DO NOT have my permission to ''HOLD" my money. I verified my identity at 6 AM EST. Now, I regret sending my identification to such a untrustworthy company. Release my money immediately. Ease of use is good, but questions not always easily answered when it comes to rental property and IRAs. Stocks have not presented unusual problems. Always check encryption lock prior to transmission. The rest I must print out and ask family members to snail mail, so have experienced no security issue. Reconsider limits on the number of times e-files can be used. Not all families are limited to three filers.

I have no reason to think it's not accurate. I have a home business so I use the Home & Office version. I started using it 2 years ago. That year and last year they had a deal where up to $9,000 of refund could be taken in the form of an Amazon gift card for 110% of the amount. The 10% bonus far exceeded the cost of the software, so in effect they were paying me to use it. This year they no longer offer the Amazon option. Since they already had my data from last year, which minimizes data entry, and since I was used to the software, I figured it was worth paying for. Otherwise I would have explored other options. Some of their instructions on what to enter could have been clearer but all in all it was pretty clear. I haven't had any problems with security (knock on wood).

I had some complicated investments profits and losses but when I called TurboTax customer service for help their representative walked me through the various entries, and spent almost an hour on the phone with me at no additional charges. Saves me many hours trying to compute the right numbers and entering them in the correct places. The questions guide you through the information needed on the forms and vastly simplify complicated instructions. Once you initially set up an account (for free) and choose a strong password you can securely access your records year after year. I have used TurboTax exclusively for many years, since it was only available on disk, and now available online. I find that even as the tax code becomes more complex, TurboTax's software becomes easier to use.

Software would be adequate if there was even rudimentary customer service. In the past Turbotax processed my refund promptly. However, this year I had to use the Taxpayer Advocate to track down my return. Still have not received it from TurboTax. Today alone I have been on three separate 45-minute holds because there is no way to reach customer service or track down the missing money. Never had good customer service, now it's non-existent. No customer service so no way to get questions answered accurately. Horrible, as far as I can tell they have no tracking software. I'm in the process of taking them to court to get my refund, which the IRS sent to Green Dot bank over a week ago.

Able to get a brief explanation of the tax law. I understand they have someone adding the tax briefs but they are not in-depth. It is like paying for a luxury car but only getting Honda. There two modes where they guide you or manual. You review what you want and the software chimes in where needed. I have used this software for years and feel it has gotten more complicated over the years. They have had some security breaks but who has not. Security of information is not high on corporate America list. I have worked for the IRS and every year during our yearly tax update, HR Block was on the watch list including other tax companies. Never once was TurboTax discussed. Having worked in the tax industry - I feel TurboTax is one of the better ones. You do have to read the tax briefs because it will allow you to file items you are not allowed.

She could have easily found me more deductions. Did not really go into items where I could have gotten deductions. I had to know how to calculate many things that TurboTax should have computed for me. On unusual tax items had to contact Intuit for assistance - this was a nightmare. Spoke with 3 representative until connected to someone that was able to assist me. Hope the security is good. I believe my Apple computer has good security, do not know from Intuit's end. Bought Intuit TurboTax Premier from BJ's for $55.00. My daughter is an accountant and said that for a simple tax return an accountant gets $125.00. TurboTax Premier was not totally user friendly, do not know about security. Customer service was horrendous.

The help files are NOT accurate because they are verbatim from the IRS books and do not address the SOFTWARE issues. I am not the only consumer who looks to their help files for help with their SOFTWARE, but they give almost no help in the software. Therefore, the software cannot be accurate because the user does not know if the software was accurately used for the specific question they didn't answer. Even the telephone technical support people have been of no help. Twice now I have paid to have H&R Block do my taxes because of insufficient help in this software's help files AND unknowledgeable technical support people.

Relatively easy with the step-by-step instructions, but many of the questions give no indication that a later question/page will want you to exclude a subtotal from the earlier page. Therefore, I have had to go back, deduct the amount, then put it in the subsequent page. It seems too easy for email to be trapped or lost. There is no telephone method (even if it is automated) to get a personal ID number. TWICE, I called Intuit's technical support for SOFTWARE help. TWICE I was told I had to contact the other people for TAX SUPPORT. I told them - both times - that I KNOW the TAX information, I just need to know how to get it into your software. They BOTH insisted I call the tax support people. And BOTH TIMES, the TAX people said they cannot help me because it is a SOFTWARE support question... and I got no help, wasted two plus hours, and just paid H&R Block to do my taxes.

As far as I am concerned, I merely wasted my money getting TurboTax software. Ultimately, I gave the software to my niece who filed a 1040EZ (i.e. no questions, just fill-in-the-blank) because she wanted a typed copy to send instead of handwriting it, which she was fully aware of how to do WITHOUT the software.

Turbo Tax continuously updates its programming to stay on top of any and all updates and/or changes to tax laws and policies. Its programming prompts the user to check for updates several times during use, to ensure the end user can take advantage of any last-minute changes. Turbo Tax offers free tax guidance and helped me when the IRS so-called customer service blew me off. The Intuit tax expert I spoke to helped me with an update that saved me thousands of dollars. No one could have asked for better. Turbo Tax offers two options... step-by-step prompts or 'do it yourself.' I normally use the prompt option, but find it quite convenient to go step-by-step to check my own work, as I can go instantly to any specific form and item number for review or correction. Turbo Tax is intuitive and very user friendly.

Intuit utilizes the highest level of security algorithms available in processing all tax returns for online routing, transferring, and review. I've never encountered any problem in this area (having been with time since they first released their product). Their guarantees are ironclad and I have full faith and confidence in this regard. I was unable to answer a tax question I had and went to the IRS web page... It failed and referred me to the IRS Customer Service number. I was absolutely astounded when told by the IRS representative, "We do not have a staff person available to answer your specific question, please go to our website." It accomplished nothing to advise this person that it was their own website that told me to call them. She simply repeated her statement.

Rejected and with $26K in the balance, I called Intuit Customer Service. A tax expert employed by them returned my call and in less than three minutes had me accomplish an update that came out after release of that year's Turbo Tax that I was unaware of. I was able to properly account for my charitable contribution and reap the quite generous tax refund I was entitled to! I will NEVER leave Intuit Turbo Tax!

The first time I called, I was put on hold for 2 hours and 20 minutes and was transferred a total of 4 times. Finally got through and got a code to enter. Then I called for my second filing for my daughter's taxes and they tried to have me pay more than the $19.99 fee because they didn't have the correct code. Put on hold again, person helping me was extremely rude - (Vanita), said I could pay the higher amount or she would put me on hold to see if she could find someone that knew the right code. No one ever returned to the call. I will never use TurboTax again.

When you are ready to file notice that the MAX Assist & Defend option is the default setting and if you miss that and then click the next button to pay you will be charged an additional fee of $59.99. My total was $184.05 for the Home and Business plus the state version. In five seconds, I realized I made a mistake but to no avail, Intuit had my money and appeals did not work and were a waste of time. This is the Intuit policy: "Once you've confirmed and paid for the service, we are unable to offer a refund." The payment step is one of two places in the entire software package that cannot be corrected. For most people MAX Assist & Defend is not needed and a waste of money. Intuit got an extra $60 from me but in the process but lost my trust and my willingness to recommend their service. I have used the TurboTax service since 1994 when Intuit acquired Parsons Technology for $64 million.

Then at time of filing that was an additional charge for this service. OK, anything not to put my credit card info online. Well here is where the trauma/drama begins. TurboTax uses a 3rd party and made the mistake of not reading every word of their disclosure. When my info from last year pulled over, it dropped the last 3 digits off my account number. As of today 2/23/2016 Santa Barbara Tax Preparer Group has had my refund for over two weeks and will not release it. After uploaded them my drivers license twice, verifying they have it they are now requesting I fax my drivers license. I have found hundreds of other having the same issues.

I've been using TurboTax for many years. I've never had an issue until now. This is my first year having them take the fees out of my refund. What a mistake! I went through the whole process of doing my Federal and State. Get all the way through the process and it tells me I can't E-file my state and I have to mail it in. Then I have to wait 6 wks for a refund! I don't want to wait 6 weeks and after spending a lot of time late at night on a Friday night, I was tired and just figured I'd contact them Monday when they are open. No biggie right? So, come to find out, the issue is TurboTax didn't get the business code on the 1040 right. My Federal shouldn't even been submitted seeing as that right there raises my chances of getting audited. It was a simple fix BUT there was no way for me to fix this. It wouldn't let me change the code on the State taxes either!

So, forget it, I just went on my state's website and redid my state taxes with the proper code. E-file accepted! FOR FREE! Now TurboTax should refund my state fees 34.99! They absolutely refuse since I submitted everything. With any NORMAL company we are allowed to cancel our order and receive a refund if the product is not what we wanted. NOT THEM! If I used PayPal or a credit card I would've gotten a refund but again TurboTax refused and then the customer service rep was completely argumentative. Then the supposed President calls me and she was just as ignorant and argumentative. So that's fine. I will make sure I NEVER use this company for anything ever again. Neither will my husband or my 2 children. They chose to lose 4 customers over a lousy 34.99. I also put a post on Facebook and there's another 400 people that saw my post. Not to mention the people they told! What a horrible money hungry company!

I have used TurboTax several times before. Thus far this year, our return has been rejected 8 - you see that, 8 times. First it was the wrong PIN for me. Funny... I wrote it down as it showed up on the screen. Then it was my husband's PIN they said was wrong. Next, they said since I put my name first instead of his they couldn't take it since last year his name was first. (WTH?) Then they said it had been accepted and since it was accepted with my name first they couldn't fix it. I spent half an hour last night with a rep and she ended up telling me to wait till this morning "to let the system catch up". Well, no change today.

I'm still on hold since the customer service rep can't figure out what's going on. Yeah, I could do her job as well as she does for all the help I've been given so far. I've wasted $67 and now it looks like I'm going to have to file via snail mail and wait the 6-12 weeks I didn't want to wait this year since we need the money we're getting back. What a crock. I will never patronize TurboTax again. They take your money quickly enough but if there's a problem you're out of luck. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone!

Filed my 2015 return. Yesterday 3 weeks later I receive a letter from the IRS saying that they needed form 2651 which should have been sent when I filed. I called TurboTax yesterday. After 2 hours on the phone they sent me to another group (Tax Analyst). This morning I get this from them "I am sorry but I am not sure what the issue is. Accuracy Guarantee claims are for when and if you receive a letter from the IRS in which you were audited and incurred penalties/or interest charges. Have you received such a letter that shows penalties incurred?"

In the email there is no contact info to help me get this resolved. So I had to start at square 1 again. Called again. Told them that the customer service from yesterday sent me to another group with a new number and they closed out my issue. After all was said and done. The new customer service agent was able to get me my forms easily. My concern with Turbo Tax is that their software is not sending out the needed forms to the IRS. They should have sent the 6251 form in my case due to the chance of me having to pay AMT tax. Turbo Tax software did not. Then when informing their customer service of the glitch they did nothing to resolve the problem, just helped me get the forms they should have sent in the first place.

I bought the deluxe version because it supposed to come with State taxes. I was extremely disappointed to discover that the bundled Deluxe version I bought does NOT include State tax preparation. I have download that and pay an extra $40. I must say, it is a very well played Bait & Switch tactic with the name and packaging. You have to look at the boxes and descriptions very closely to see the switch between the regular and the bundled version. Maybe next year I'll just download the forms and do everything by hand again.

Filed my taxes with TT as I have done for the last 12 years (without incident). Received an email from TT stating, "Your refund is on its way. You will see your direct deposit within the next business day". 4 days later = NOTHING. Contact the IRS whom states my refund has been funded (3 days ago). Contacted SBTPG based on the information in the email from TT. I was routed to 3 different 800 #'s via an automated system. To finally get my call dropped 3 times and then to sit on hold for over 2.5 hours with no one ever picking up the call.

Went online to TT to see who SBTPG was and if others had issues with this organization. I found a link to the SBTPG website in which I logged in providing my SS#, refund amount and filing status. It then prompts a pop up message that says "Due to suspicious activity your account has been put on hold. Fax a copy of your driver's license/passport and we will review your documents within 7 business day". Whaaat? My "account"? I don't even know who these people are and you want me to fax what? Where?

So, I contacted TT this AM for the agent to tell me she had no idea whom SBTPG was and this appeared to be very suspicious as they do not show my account being ever being put on hold. After almost an hour and her supervisor stepping in they tell me this appears to be the Santa Barbara bank. They have nothing to do with this issue and that I need to try and contact them really? "Isn't this your vendor," I ask. They reply, "yes." "So, ME (your customer) has to contact YOUR vendor to find out why my refund hasn't been deposited as YOU stated it would be?" She then proceeds to tell me that since my refund is so large there are controls to verify identities to prevent fraudulent claims. Hmmmmm. So the ONLY fraudulent activity in my mind at this point is the fact that the IRS funded my refund 4 days ago (as of today).

The TT vendor SBTPG has my refund and now for potentially another 7 business days as they "verify my identity"? This from a customer that has used TT for 12 years, depositing my refunds into the same bank account? And, why wasn't this verification done prior to the IRS funding my refund. Who's making money here? Can you say - FRAUD!!! Very disappointed with TT as they just lost a very faithful customer.

Both returns were accepted promptly. I received my stated refund in about 10 days. At that point we just decided to pay it and wanted it to come out of refund. Then they were trying to auto tack on another 39.99 for "TurboTax Premium Bundle Services With Refund Transfer"! Total became $111 and some change...

We found out that was the transfer fee for paying with the refund. We unchecked that box and instead decided to pay with a debit card. It wasn't on the summary but we ended up getting charged for it anyway. I called and was on hold about 20 or more minutes. After speaking to level 1, I finally got a supervisor and he outright refused to refund it saying it was our mistake. He refused to let me speak to their advisors.
