I purchased a computer and printer from Dell under the 0% rate and for months I was charged interest. A few payments were adjusted but not without multiple calls for the same charges. In December 2007 I called Dell to find out the exact amount of my final payment and the payment date, the representative told me the amoount and the date of January 8, 2008 and I satisfied the bill.

In March I opened a bill from Dell with the amoount of $400 or more. They told me that I was to pay the bill on January 1. 2008 not January 8, 2008. I have talked to over 8 representatives and have written two letters. No response. Since this ordeal Dell calls my home over six times a day and it has been reported to the credit bureau and it has stopped me from getting a mortgage. It is very stressful and embarrassing.

When I purchase my computer in Oct of 2003, I was quoted 400 to 500 some odd dollars for my purchase. Before I put in my order online to try and get financing (because I was a college student with little money) I asked if I paid the account off if I were approved would that cut out the financing charges and I was told yes. I was also told that my interest rate would be a lot lower than it was. I asked these things because if I purchased the computer with a credit card I would have been better off. My first balance was $1253.10 and my monthly payment was 38.00, my finance corresponding annual percentage rate was 27.99%.

The following year at the same time my balance was $1771.98 and my corresponding annual percentage rate was 28.74% and my effective annual percentage rate was 29.20%. When I was able to pay DFS off (from lending institution) I called and spoke to a specialist, (at that time I owed under a thousand dollars on my final bill) I asked what it would cost to pay off the bill and I was quoted $562.??, I was told to hold on and they would get management and then I was told that I owed the entire amount and I asked the manager how can I be quoted a specific amount to the cent if I owed the almost a $1000 he said it was it was a revolving door of credit.

I also had trouble with Dell when it came to technical issues (I paid for a 4-year extended warranty) when I would call because I was having a problems I would have to sit on the phone with them and they would tell me what to do to try and fix the problem or what diagnostics I would have to run before the would send a technician out for service.

The consequences were financial hardship, I was a college student trying to figure out how I was going to pay off this bill, and my job was ending for the semester (worked for DSCC). The first year I paid $456 and the next year it was $432 and buy the time I had actually paid them off I had paid them over $2000 for a computer that was only worth $399.00. Financially I had run out of student loans, grant money and my job was ending (seasonal) I had to find a lending institution that would lend me money so that I could pay them off. I couldn't continue to pay them hundreds of dollars every year and hardly any of the money was going towards the principal of the loan.

I ordered a laptop a almost 2 months ago. Also ordered a keyboard, digital converter, printer. I ordered all this stuff at the same time. I used Dell financial services to pay for it. The total was 1750 (1640 was the price of the laptop). I then get a bill in the mail 2 weeks later. I am not getting the 0% like was stated in the offer, I am geting 22%! I call them idiots in india, and they of course can do nothing. (just a note, 1.5 months into this mess they called and offered 0% interest and no payments for a year, but I couldn't take it because this credit card mess was already started)

So, with that offer, I also get a flyer. I can basically order my same exact computer for 500 dollars less. I called to complain and they told me to return the computer, they would send me another (the same exact effing thing) and I would pay 500$ less. I said fine whatever to save the 500$. So I order up a New laptop with the same specs for less money.

AFter that I call their returns department. At first, they say they will take it back then I find out about a huge secret "restocking fee". So I say forget it on the return. They wont' take it back because its over the 20 days or whatever. Its 22 days. So they wont' take it back. I call back 10 times over and over becuase I can't understand anyone. Then they offer 250$ cash back to me to go on my DFS account. I say sure. 2 weeks later my account is credited (and many phone calls later to make sure they did it).

I also see in my account they just charged me 1200 bucks for the second laptop. Now when I call they have no idea what laptop I am talking about. I CANCEL the 2nd laptop order as I have accepted their 250$. That takes about 3-4 days of non stop phone calls to india. Knock Knock.. Who's there?.. UPS.. UPS who?.. the same ups guy that has been here 3 days in a row because dell told them to come pick up my computer and never cancelled the request after I cancelled the second laptop order.

When I bought it I was promised rebates by going on a website. I went to the website, its down and don't work. So I call them. I called them 31 days after I got the paperwork for the rebates. They inform me rebates (about 250$ worth) are now void. I had to call within 30 days and I was 1 day over. I explain to them it was their website. I tried from work and home and it would not work. It was the website that they gave me in my paperwork (after I called and had to ask for it).

So, after about 10 more phone calls I complain enough so that they give some of the rebates. But for less then was promised. (I still havn't had any rebates come thru). My original sales person won't return my calls. I bought the computer thru a work discount (total joke), so every time I call I get re routed about 4-5 times back and forth from DFS for EPP purchases and customer care for EPP purchases. Its like dealing with 4 different companys that can't get to eachothers information. NONE of them speak good english, you can't hear them, and you have to verify who you are every time you speak to someone new. I have made about 40 phone calls to them.

I got a credit card with 0% interest to charge it all too thinking "I will get this taken care of". Well, you guessed it, they don't accept credit cards. So, you have to do someothing called a "walk to manifest". Dell india's way of saying balance transfer. I tell them DO IT! 15 phone calls later, they figure out how. I check my statments and they havn't transferred the laptop. Just the 3 little orders. I call and ask what is going on. They inform me they can't transfer the computer because it was ordered on a seperate day. One day before the other parts, that puts it over the 30 days by 1 day so they can't transfer that. I am stuck paying them 1333.68 at 22% interest. Keep in mind I have awesome credit.

So, many many many phone calls later and about 65 emails, I decide I will have my credit card write them a check for the full damn amount. But that final amount now includes a 35$ late fee, and 35$ finance charge because they never transferred the laptop doing a walk to manifest like they were supposed to. DFS tells me I have to write the DFS account number on the check minus the first 3 numbers because their account can't process that many digits. Then transfers me around because I have a 501 account and not a 502 account because my business has more then 400 people.

I call 5 times, they say they removed it but it never disappears. I call more, finally a guy gets it done, $75 removed. I have been getting calls for almost 2 weeks from dell.. "your payment is late.. where is it and why havnt' you mailed it?" I told them the entire amount has been mailed! All they have to do is process it and cash it. They email me asking questions, I reply with the answer, then they reply asking me to verify who I am before they can give me more information. They emailed me! duh! All that days days because they take days or a few weeks to respond.

So, today they call. I can't understand a word. He is very quiet, lots of static, and hardly speaks english. I start yelling at him when I hear the dreaded words "Hello Matthew, This is Dell's Department of Collections, you have not paid your bill and been reported".. My office area seen a whole new side of me and the fbomb got yelled many times. He wants me to pay my late fee 35$, my finance charge $35, and my payment $40. I explain that the payment in whole is on its way since last week and that them 2 charges should have been dropped already as they are dells mistake in the first place!

I am lost here. I have no idea what is going to happen. I have heard this happening to people before. Dell has moved everything to india and has gone downhill totally. I have literally talked to almost 50 people from there and spent uncountable hours on hold. They made a mistake and it looks like my credit may pay. I am going to check my credit in a few months. If their name is on it in a negative way, I am calling the attorney generals office. And I am sure I am missing alot of things here. Talking to them is like talking to a wall.

I am paying interest charges (about 40$ a month!) and this is all their mistake because they didn't do that stupid walk to manifest right and didn't transfer the laptop. They are also nailing me with late fees at 35$ a wack. I just had to call my credit card company and have them cancel the check because dell still calls threatening me because they haven't received it. I am having my CC company mail another one tomorrow. But dell insisted I pay them 95$ right now using a check by phone (which they charge you 14$ for!) to keep "head above water".

I don't know where this is going to go, I never got 0% interest, havn't got rebates (their rebate site for EPP rebates doesn't work), paid fees that I shouldn't have to be paying since this is all their mistake, lost uncountable hours of my life. Financial and many hours of my time. Who knows what they did to my credit rating.

November 8th- I have developed a system of keeping track of these phone calls. I am making an outline in a notebook with each step and then typing them here when I get off the phone.

I get thru to DFS in Manilla
    - I ask to be transferred to a resoulution center that speaks English
    - She screws up and transfers me to a fax machine. I have to hang up
    - Before she transferred me she gave me her supervisors extension (brad is his so called name, odd name for someone in Manilla would you say?)

    - I call back and put in brads extension and leave a message that it is urgent I speak with him. I had to be quick because the system only allows like 14 seconds for a message.

I call back and get Manilla again
    - This woman doesnt want to transfer me and keeps trying to resolve my issue. I insist on being transferred as my last million phone calls have got me nowhere.

    - She transfers me but after 20 minutes on hold, I am forced to hang up as I have a meeting at work (20 mins is a joke anyways)

    November 9th
Brad never called me. I gave him 24 hrs. So I call him and lone behold, his voicemail box is full and not accepting new messages.
    -I call DFS
    - I verify who I am on the automated system
    - A woman picks up and I have to verifiy
    - Full Name
    - DFS 19 Digit number
    - Social Security Number
    - Mothers Maiden Name
    - Home address
    - Work Phone
    - Home phone
    - Email address
What am I doing? Applying for Dell to buy me a house!??
    - I ask to be transferred to the resoulution center that speaks English in the USA, she said ok.
    - Transferred wrong. I am now with Customer Care
    - I need to give her all my info AGAIN and my customer number
    - She wants to help me and not transfer me
    - I demand to be transferred
    - You guessed it, I got the wrong department
    - This woman transfers me to EPP Customer care
    - WRONG, I am at customer care but not EPP Customer Care but she speaks English!
    - I tell her my story and that I want a corporate dell email to send my story too (the one your currently reading). I get an address in texas to snail mail it too. (funny a computer maker doesnt have an email address.. isnt it?)
    - She says she is going to transfer me to the right place and has an extension and stays on the phone with me for the remainder of todays calls listed here.
    - The system wont take her extension and makes her put it in over and over and over and she gets frustrated. She hits many other buttons to get to a department and talk to someone.
    - We get thru! But yep, wrong deparment
    - That person then transfers us to DFS (Again)
    - I have to give this woman all my info AGAIN
    - She states that the check was good from the CC company and the surplus of $151 (and some change will be mailed to me in 10 days at my home address if I want.. YES I want)
    - I restate that the check was cancelled from the CC company and that it is not a good check, she states yes it is or it would have kicked back by now.
    - She gives me her supervisors extension for any further problems and yes you guessed it. Its Brads extension again. I inform her that that brad? is not accepting phone calls. She says sorry.

    - I end the conversation with dell

    Calling credit card company
    - They tell me no way. The check was cancelled and hasnt been cashed as it cant be. They did a stop payment on it. When dell goes to cash it, it will be DENIED, she states dell is slow at doing this apparently
    - The CC company is now sending a new check out to the DFS address using the 19 digit account number minus the first 3 digits (As I was told to do to the first one because dfs can only process 16 digits on their pc (how stupid))

    - I had them make the check for 1181 (I subtracted the 151 from the 1333 that is about to be denied)

All that took well approx. 1.5 hrs. So I am done for today. I anticipate that dell will discover the check is bad and charge me some kind of fee for it even though its ALL THEIR FAULT for not processing it on time.

    To be continued

My problem is not so much equipment as Dells arrogant Financial group. Even though the two computers I bought were pictured with a flat screen and an old fashioned screen shows up when delivered. The salesman says did you not pay any attention the the tiny numbers of the parts.

I financed the computers with Dell Financial or citibank. The interest rate is about 29%.I was given the wrong closing date and my payments were late for a while. I sttarted out owing them $800.00 paid 40 to 50 dollars a month and after two years owed them 883 dollars. In this they increased my credit limit. I decided to buy my step son a lap top and was turned down even though I had sufficient credit line the KGB of Dell the verification department was out to protect me. I tried to call them and each time after spending hours They would listen and put me on hold and never return to the phone.

Finally I decided to pay them off. I have spent one month trying to close my account and the KGB verification department says they are following banking guidelines and trying to protect me so they cannot authorize the closing of the account even though the balance is 000.

What a crock. I hope someday to be able to close my account and I hope the worst for Michael Dell and his motely crew. One day they will run out of people to dupe.

I received a Dell Dollars coupon from Dell computers for $75. The coupon stated that I had to spend more than the value of the coupon. I spent $75.98 plus shipping and tax for a grand total of $86 and change. When checking out on the Dell website, the coupon amount was subtracted, however when I received my credit card was charged for the full amount.

When I called Dell to ask why, I was told that I could not use my Dell Financial credit card to pay the difference. Nowhere on that coupon was this stated. I have made numerous phone calls to no avail. If I was not able to use this credit card, why was it not stated on the coupon or the website.I asked Dell to credit my account and I would give them another credit card to pay the difference and they still wouldn't allow it. I have no idea what the reason is for this, but I want this taken care of.

I am basically being charged for software that I would not have purchased, had I not received this coupon. Right now I'm out hours of phone calls, and $75 I had no intention of spending.

My son bought a dell computer with 18 months no interest. In Nov. of 2007 he moved out and called Dell and gave them his new address. To this date May of 2008 they still have not sent him a bill to his new address. They continue to send his bills to my house and everytime he calls to pay by phone since he does not receive any bills they charge him an extra $10.00.

In Dec. of 2007 he owed around 1,200.00 since then they canceled his interest free loan and said it was our responsiblity to get his bills to him and now he owes around $1,700.00. He has called them several times and they said that they changed his address in Nov. but for some reason they have not sent him one bill and continue to call and harrass us. I finally told them I was going to file suit against them if they called my house anymore since we have given them his address several times. I believe this is there way of making money.

My son put himself through Air Craft Mechanic school and moved out and asked Dell to send his bills to his new address and they can't do their job so they want to punish him and make him pay 29.99% interest. This has ruined his credit.

I ask at that time would they wave the 9.18 and they told me no. The reason why Dell Financial do not want to do it, is because they want to have me get stuck with pay them the 9.18 pluse the service charge.

I am going through a divorce and can not afford it any more.

We purchased a computer from Dell in 2005. We sent a Cashiers check for the full amount. After which we even received a rebate. 2 years go by, then we start receiving phone calls from India demanding we pay them something like 87 dollars on our account. I told them, I don't have an account. This goes on for months then I start trying to find somebody who can speak english to talk to. What a rude company. I don't owe them any money, but I have been unable to resolve this. They are now claiming that I had a 60 day same as cash with a balance owed on an item that I neither ordered, nor received. After 60 days it automatically turns into a loan account. I didn't hear anything from these people for well over a year. They have turned me over to a collection company. I am turning them over to the Attorney Generals Office.

They claimed I had an unpaid account of $77, that now totals over $700, according to their collection agency. Just this morning after months of trying to deal with this I was able to get out of the person on the other end of the line that I was being charged for a Photo printer. I never ordered this printer and I did not receive a Photo printer. Resolution yet to be seen. They promise to call you back and you never hear from them.

I explained to him that my husband will be home in a half hour. after 20 minutes I let him know that I was hanging up on him. My phone has rung every 30 seconds since then.

No financial yet. Harrassment is ILLEGAL though. I will NEVER purchase with Dell again. This is a horrible experience and I have no other credit issues.

On May 17, 2008, Dell Financial made a collection call and we set up a payment for May 2, 2008 for $174.00. The phone call was recorded. The gentleman taking the call was a Lamar Jackson. He stated he was taking the funds out on April 18 and I said no that was incorrect that it was May 2. He stated that he had changed the date. On April 18, I searched my bank account and the funds were taken out incorrectly. I called back and sent a bank statement and was told by a Danielle at the office that she had received the fax and that the funds would be placed in my account on April 21.

In the meantime on my husband became ill requiring hospitalization. He was discharged on April 24. I went to get medications for him on April 25 and there was not money in the bank because Dell had not recredited the funds and this had resulted in $175 in overdraft fees on several small checks. Phoned again and sent another bank statement on April 25 and was told it would be taken care of shortly. Called back 4 times on Friday and explained that I could not pick up my husband's medication without funds. Am told by a manager, A O'bana (sp?) that he didn't care about the situation and he would call back Monday.

Unauthorized funds taken from my account resulting in overdraft fees and inability to obtain medication for husband just coming out of hospital.

In April - 2006 I called Dell to purchase a notebook through the company I am employed with. The Order was placed in the company name but I was responsible for the payment. When I ordered the notebook the sales person asked me if I wanted a Lease to Own program. I said no just a monthly payment type account. When the first invoice arrived i noticed it has lease on the invoice. I immediately call Dell and spoke with the same person. He said he had made a mistake and would correct it. I asked him what the cost to go ahead an pay that account in full was. He gave me the total and I sent a check to pay the account in full (I have contacted my bank and they will send me a copy in 5-10 business days.

The next month I received an invoice for $1.33. I called Dell and spoke with a lady who said it was for management fees. I asked why? She stated that when the payment arrived it was 2 days into the next month and fees were applied. I said you mean I have to send a $1.33 check? She said no I will adjust it and I told her I appreciated that. A year or more passed and I received another statement for a little more than that and again I called they said they said to disregard it. Then to make a longer story short, I kept receiving statements and the total kept going up. Now the statement I received on 5/01/08 is in the amount of $237.49. I called every time I received a statement, I sent short notes on the back of the statements because I knew someone would open the statement expecting a check and would read the note w/phone #. No one never called me back.

Then I called to speak to someone and got someone in India. She said she couldn't help me so I asked for a Supervisor in the USA. I was connected to Angela Moothery. She informed me I have 2 choices 1-Pay $807.69 and keep the computer or 2- pay $266.49 + S&H and return the computer. I tried to explain it was paid for. She said it was a lease and I was in default. I told her what had happened almost 2 years ago and she said I would still pay it. I said I went a year and some months without a statement. She replied that was because I ran out of money. I asked what she meant by that and she said the check I sent was used or drawn on every month to make lease payments until it was gone. I said thats crazy. Who do you know Angela that would send anyone a check that large to be held in some account to have payments drawn on. I would not have done that. I sent in the amount to pay the note book off not extend payment until it was gone. I said your asking me to send money to purchase something I have already purchased. The notebook that in the end will cost me over $2,000.00.

Then I started explaining again and was told I had two choices only. She was starting to yell I asked her to volumn down as I wasnt getting loud. She asked me if I had anything from Dell with anything to back up what I said. I replied not I only kept receiving statements. She said then you will pay. I told her I already paid for the notebook and she said again I will tell you you have two choices. Then I received a call from Dell Warranty Dept. I told the lady that I was having problems with Dell at the moment and would not consider extended warranty until it was resolved. She said what problem. I explained it to her and she asked for my account # and came back on line to inform me that I owed nothing. My balance was zero. I then started getting calls from Dell Collections. I told them what was going on and he said to call Angela back and get her to send a fax or e-mail stating she was working with me. I did and Angela said you only have 2 choices and I can't send anything as you are deliquent in your account. I said how can I be Iif I paid it in full in the amount I was given. I told he I feel that somewhere down the road someone picked up the $1.33 or the computer regenerated it and it was placed back into the lease. She said mam you have 2 choices and if it is not resolved by May 1st you will have another $29.00 late fee and $68.92 payment. I have done all I can with them.

They will not listen. I never thought this would happen. We have purchased 4 notebooks and 3 desk tops here at Berry and Berry Inc. Can you help me? Please I have fought this battle long enough. I just received another call from Dell Collections yesterday (they call every day and are usually rude)except yesterday when a gentleman said I owed the bill and again I explained my problem as I do each and every time someone calls. He said hold on then came back and said you need to call Customer Service as they can fix it for you. I see on your paper work where the account was indeed change. We don't get all your paper work here in India but I can say you should call Customer Service. I told him I had and he said I need to ask for another Supervisor that is higher up. I said how would I know? And he replied you wouldn't but I can see you owe nothing. The secretary and the owners have witnessed all that has happened with Dell. I need it resolved. Thanking you in advance.

I can't afford to pay either amount they are requesting. I purchased the notebook I wanted 2 years ago because I wanted it to last 5-6 years. I can't sleep at night. I have headaches over it. I get a sick feeling every time the secretary says, Shelia, Dell on line 1 or 2. Then I can't eat. I can't pay it I don't have it and it is unfair. I would like to check the attorney box but I can't afford one.

However customer did contact the dell representative 11/14/2005 9:40 AM and asked for to payoff whole balance and closed the account effective 11/24/2005 Since that time customer did not receive any statement regarding to pay the amount and customer is not aware that this is account still in open and not closed. Dell Company did not closed account and left open purposely. After three yaers they have sent the international collection agency to cover the cost of $5800.00

After, That international collection center is keep calling to customer and talking abusive langauge and asking some unrelated question like job title, name, address and personel information which has nothing to do with account. The customer paid this amount via Personal check in full and sent payment with memo regarding whole paid off amount $2776.93 principal amount and $23.73 interest total to paid $2800.66. After several call received the customer foreced to harrased from comapany and customer statrt to document this case and reported to BBB in Texas. Then customer set a dell case number from resoultion department and told will be resolved within 24 hours and someone will contact and none of person contaced within that timeframe.

The call was received from dell and asked us to pay ammount for computer we have bought for approx $3373.97 and paid total amount $4074.37 since they are asking another $5800.00. This is a rip off the invisual customer right and company is violation the customer civil right. We have asked the representative to why u have not contaced since three years, they told to us

It began 09/27/07. I went to the Dell kiosk in the local mall and spoke with a young man and applied for a Dell Preferred Account and when I got the results he informed me of my credit limit and also that I would recieve 6 months interest free. I was elated with the interest free part so I decided to use the Dell Preferred Account to purchase the computer. I would not have used the account if I had otherwise known the intersest rate I was actually going to be charged.

I will discuss that in a few moments.

I purchased a Dell Inspiron 1521 and the ending balance after negotiating free next day air shipping was $1394.47. So, I left the mall with my order in hand and was excited to be getting a new laptop in a few days. Well, a week passed and no laptop. I called Dell and was informed that they were out of the liquid crystal component for the screen and that it would be a few more weeks but that they would overnight it as soon as it was built.

I recieved in 10/31/07. As I opened the box I got a wiff of that "new computer smell', its a nice smell. I took it out and plugged it up and started playing around with things. After a few days I noticed that the battery was a bit lose and made a rattling sound. I then noticed that when a CD/DVD was put into the driver that the driver made a really loud grinding sound. So I called Dell and they agreed to send me a replacement machine. I recieved it within a few days (4or 5) and just put it aside for a week or so.

When I opened it I noticed immediately that the top was severely warped. So again, on the phone with Dell. They agreed to send yet another machine which I recieved within another week or so. Meanwhile I still have the other two. So I finally got around to opening the 3rd laptop and plugged it up and repackaged the other two to get them ready to ship back to Dell. The 3rd laptop never picked up speed. I know that they can sometimes be a little slow at first, but I gave it 3 weeks and still nothing. By now it is the first week of December and Dell is calling me wanting the other two laptops back. I have now consulted with a lawyer.

Then, I get an advertisement in the mail on December 8, 2007 advertising the exact same laptop that I purchased two months prior for $575.00 less than what I paid for it. Now I'm really upset. Meanwhile, I have not made a payment on my Dell Preferred Account because I am considering sending them all back and calling it quits, but they called me looking for $$$. So I made a payment of $100.00 and asked for my new balance. I was placed on hold so that the rep could "process my payment and give me the new balance after having applied my payment". I figured that it would be the original balance of $1394.47 minus the $100.00 payment=$1294.47.

She comes back on the line and states that the balance is now $1498.xx. I was appauled, how could this be i asked and she explained that the interest is not added until after the first payment has been applied. I explained that according to the guy at the Dell kiosk in the local mall, I should have no interest for 6 months. She then informed me that my interest rate is , are you ready, a whopping 23.9% and that the only way I can qualify for no interest for 6 months is to purchase a maintenance pacakage for $399.00 for a three year contract.

Now I was ******. I talked with my lawyer friend and this is when she mentioned the possibility of a class action lawsuit. So many things wrong in so many different departments of such a large company, surely this isn't only happening to me??? There must be others out there? Here it is 04/08/08 and I have sent the laptops back as of 02/18/08 and have confirmations that they were all recieved 02/20/08 and I refuse to make payments and Dell Financial Services calls repeatedly after promising that they will place a "hold" on the collections calls due to the nature of my experience and current situation.

I have failed at all attempts to get a refund. I and my credit report are at the mercy of Dell and Dell Financial Services. They have my money, I Do NOT have a laptop, and they have recieved countless hours of my time. The lawyer I was speaking with is a personal friend and said that she unfortunately at this time does not have time to take on this case. She asked if I could hold off for a few more months and after discussing things with her (that Dell would refund the $$ I HAd paid and I would revieve them within 7-10 days after they recieve the laptops)she suggested that I should just send the laptops back and get my refund and be done with it. Well the 7-10 days I was promised have come and gone 5 times over and still nothing. Again, today I found myself on the phone with Dell and its financial branch for over two hours.

These departments do not have any means of communication between one another so I have to go back and forth. My suggestion to any consumer considering the purchase of anything from Dell or to conduct business with any of its entities, DO NOT DO IT! You will get burned, they no longer put out a quality product, you can't get help from anyone there in any department, if you have a broken machine Dell is the only company that can fix it, they have no confidence in their own product in selling them for half the cost that they were just weeks prior, the list goes on and on.

If someone out there has had similar problems and is interested in filing a lawsuit I would be more than willing to participate. I would not wish on my worst enemy the trouble that I have been subjected to and forced to go through. I hope this is helpful to others.

So we sat down and decided on two computers and a gps unit. We placed the order to only receive an email 24-36 hours later requesting we call for verification reasons before they would ship. We called, spoke to a lady who verified all that she needed and said everything was good.

About 24hrs later we go online to see what the ship dates were on the units to find out it was canceled. We were never notified by Dell about the cancellation. So we placed yet another call to speak to another lady who said, sorry but you weren't declined due to financial but due to verification process but couldn't tell us why because it was confidential. I cannot imagine why it couldn't be discussed being it was our business information. Being a small woman owned corporation, I feel we are being discriminated due to the fact it is woman owned business. They say they are not required by law to tell us why they reversed the approval if it isn't financial reasons. How does a company fix something when they don't know what is wrong? We have other lines of credit and had verification issues before which pertained to the business address and was able to fax our business certificate and incorporation paperwork to validate our address. Why would this be info that couldn't be discussed? We are registered with the DNB and state, so we are very upset with the fact that Dell would be so uncustomer focused and not be willing to share our info with us.

They cost us time and money. We were approved, so we ordered, had ship dates and were anticipating the product to arrive and had installation set up to set everything up for our business and have now been charged a $100.00 cancellation fee with the installers. Not to mention we are now a week behind and will be two weeks behind because we had to take our business elsewhere and wait for the shipment and another installation date.

My wife and I liked Dell's finance option and so I called on March 20, 2008, and proceeded to order what basically amounted to over $2000 in computer and printer supplies. I was told that I was approved but would need to speak to their financial services, who then told me I needed to speak to their Verification Department. When transferred to them, we were then told we would be getting a letter in the mail so that we could finish our verification process.

When we questioned what other info they would need, they refused to say, saying only that we would get the letter, and we should follow the directions in the letter to verify ourselves in order to get the computer. They said it would take 7-10 business days.

2 weeks later, after no letter, and discovering that our order had been cancelled, we tried again. We got a new sales rep, who told us we would have to order all over again. When we ordered the same EXACT components, the order now came out to over $3000, but that shouldn't be a problem since, according to the rep, we were still approved for over $4000. Once again, the order went through, and once again we were told we would need to verify information. This time I asked for the Verification Department.

When I couldn't get a straight answer I asked for a Supervisor. The sales rep blatently refused and hung up.

I called back and spoke to another rep, who apologized for the first rep who hung up on us, and then again told us that he couldn't give us any information, but that we would get a letter.

At this point, I'm pretty angry, but he assures me that we are not being led by the nose or lied to, there really is a letter, and we would get one. No answers on what happened to the first letter.

Now it's April 2, 2008, and still no letters, and now the second order has been cancelled. I called and asked to speak to a supervisor, and was told that the Dell Dept, the Financial Dept, and the Verification Dept are all seperate areas, and one has no idea what the other is doing. In addition, we are now being told a THIRD time that we will receive a letter, with no answers on what happened to the first two, where they were mailed, why we need the letter, and if this is just Dell's cowardly way of declining us.

It's Dell that is wrong-not me-the business owner.

They stated it was a phone number they couldn't verify but it's not a phone number that my business has had nor a number that I have had personally. I asked Dell to send me a "denial" due to why they could not verify my business and they refused to do so. There is nothing that I can do according to Dell. They suggested I go to Dun & Bradstreet to fill out a business credit background but that costs $600 to do so-almost what a computer would cost!

I feel that Dell should have gone to greater lengths to be sure they are correct - they were not correct-I, the business owner is the correct one. Dell mentioned "scams" but what they have on my business that they won't tell me is just as bad as someone trying to scam Dell-I feel they are "scamming" me. I feel Dell owes me an explanation and I feel they should have accepted my business registration, sales tax license, bank account info etc.

Then, not to tell me why-just that I am not giving them the info that they need to get. I think they need to be investigated for allowing incorrect information to determine who a business is and not allowing the business to prove differently!

CC of a letter mailed to Dell:

On 3/6/2008 while contemplating buying a HDTV I was browsing your site

and found a Deal of the Day.

It was a 42 Phillips LCD HDTV. I
attempted to purchase this item online, having had two very favorable
transactions with your company in the past. During checkout I discovered
that my Dell Preferred Account was $63.00 short of the total for the
purchase. I was rereouted to Dell Financial Services where I was denied
an increase for that amount for my account. It was then suggested that I
call a sales agent to see what could be worked out.

I spoke to Meghan (extension *******) that night. She told me that I
should be able to apply a payment to my Dell account online with a same
day payment option for a $9.95 charge that would hit the account by the
next day and she would then place the order for the HDTV. I went through
the process of making the payment and checked the appropriate boxes. The
amount of the payment was withdrawn from my checking account the

    following day.

About an hour after I had seen the withdrawal from my
checking account I got a call from Meghan saying that the payment had
not posted, and she was unable to process the order. Both of us assumed
that the payment would be reflected on the account by the end of
business or first thing on Monday morning (3/10/2008), so she said she
would wait until then and process the order through.

By early Monday afternoon the payment still had not posted. I call Dell
Financial Services where I was told by the CSR that even though I had
paid a $9.95 fee for a payment to be immediately applied to my account
that those payments still took 3-5 days to process, but they were then
backdated to reflect the payment date. After receiving this answer I
spoke to a supervisor there who owned the problem, refunded the $9.95

fee and got with Meghan to ensure the order was placed.

    I spoke with
Meghan after my conversation with DFS. She told me during that
conversation that the backdating situation was untrue and that she had
never heard of such a thing ever happening. She also stated that the
overnight payment option was something that the sales reps were
    encouraged to use.

The first lie made to me by Dell was made by the CSR that initially
answered my call at DFS about backdating online payments.

At this point I was frustrated, but understanding. There are glitches
when computers are involved, and the CSR may not have known all the
details of a procedure. Living in India rather than the US and doing
business in English which was obviously not her first language
    can be difficult.

Meghan called the following day (3/11/2008) to tell me the order has
been placed. She also offered an apology for the problems. She explained
that I would receive an automated call with the tracking number and the
shippers information. I did receive that call, but the shipper was

    identified as Eagle.

I was forced to call customer service at Dell
again after searching the internet for a shipper of that name to be told
by the CSR that the shipper was actually called CEVA Logistics. I got
the URL of their website and was then able to track the progress of the
    shipment.

That entire headache could have been avoided had I been able to pay the
balance of the order by debit or credit card, but your system does not
allow for split tender when using a Dell Preferred Account. I do so love
the irony of a technology company being outdated. It gives me such faith
that my computer will keep working for another year.

On Thursday March 13th, 2008 the tracking information showed that my
television had arrived in the local CEVA hub. It had now been seven days
(5 business days) since I initiated this process. I was told by CEVA
that they would be unable to schedule my delivery until Tuesday March,

    18th.

Making it an additional five days, three of them business days,
that I would have to wait for delivery of an item that was supposed to
take from 3-5 total business days to arrive. (We are now at a total of
12 day or 8 business days, if you haven't been keeping count)

I took the day off on 3/18/2008 to ensure that I would be at home when
the delivery was made because CEVA was unable to give me a time that the
delivery would happen. I waited all day at home. At about 5:45 p.m., I
called CEVA to inquire why the delivery had not been made. I was told by
the gentleman I spoke to that Dell had shipped them the wrong television
and it would be several more days before they would receive a

    replacement.

CEVA had been trying to get into contact with me all day at
my work telephone number, which was the only one provided to them by
Dell, but due to the fact that I had to be at home to wait for a
delivery I was not there to receive the call.

After the most recent call with CEVA I was back on the phone with Dell
customer service. I was told by them that according to their records
everything was in order and I should have received my television by now.
At the time I was unaware, but the Dell CSR was correct. I called Meghan

back to see if there was anything she could do to help:

    A: because I
could understand her, she did not have a thick Indian accent and B:
because she was the only person from Dell that actually seemed to care
that mistakes had been made and a situation was developing.

The shipping mistake was made by CEVA. Somewhere in their process there
was a labeling mistake. I found this out on 3/20/2008, but only after
calling CEVA myself after waiting 24 hours to be contacted by either
Dell or CEVA to let me know what the situation was.

Alice at CEVA explained that they had made a mistake. She got into
contact with Dell to start the process of having a replacement
television to be sent out and advised me to call Dell customer service
again to verify that I had not received the original television and I
would not be responsible for it. I did so, and was told a note had been
made on my account reflecting that information. I was also told I would
receive a call with the new shipping information.

This morning 3/24/2008 (Were now at 18 days, 12 business days total
wait on an item that should have arrived in 3-5 business days.) I got a
call at work from Dell. I'm assuming he was from Dell customer service
because he, much like the majority of Dell's employees, was not
located in America and had a thick Indian accent. I was told that my new
television would be shipped out today through DHL and would be in my

possession in no more than 48 hours.

I then asked for the tracking
number so I could verify this information for myself. At this point I
have a good deal of reasoning to not trust anything that I'm told by
either Dell or CEVA. After checking online with DHL I come to find out
that the tracking number I was given was the old tracking number from
CEVA, not a DHL tracking number at all.

This is the second blatant lie that I was told by Dell, and the third
time I was lied to in the process of this transaction.

Order number in hand I called Dell customer service again to get the
correct tracking number for DHL. The man I spoke to this morning told me
that he had no record of a new television being shipped out at all nor
of a call being made to me today by anyone at Dell, and it would be at
least Thursday March 27th before the process could be started for a
replacement for the one lost by CEVA to be on its way to me because the
policy was to wait for 5 business days before a replacement would be

    re-sent.

When I pointed out to him that the last confirmation of the
location of the television was on 3/11/2008 when it was shipped from
Dell, well over five business days before the date of the conversation
he said I was correct but there was nothing he could or would do to
expedite the process. When I asked to speak to his supervisor I was told
that the phone system was having some sort of glitch and I would need to
call back in thirty minutes. He then told me that if I had a complaint
that I could speak with his supervisor but he would give me the same

answers I had already gotten if I called back in thirty minutes.

When I asked the csr to give me the address and the name of the
executive in charge of Customer Service at the Dell corporate
headquarters I was told that he did not have that information. I asked
again for the address information, was told again that he did not have
    it.

This leads me to the third and fourth times that Dell has lied to me
outright over the course of this ordeal. The third when I was told by
the earlier caller that claimed to be from Dell and was able to give me
information about my account and prior shipping information when I was
told that the merchandise that has already been billed to my account

would actually be in my possession within 48 hours at the latest.

    The
fourth and final lie to date was the CSR telling me that he did not have
an address or a name that could be contacted at the Dell headquarters.
He said this to me while seated in a Dell call center, in front of
a Dell computer, on an internal Dell network with an internet connection
available, and he then told me that his supervisor would not have the
    address information either.

From jump this purchase has been a frustration. To date I have lost
eight hours of vacation time, close to 15 hours of my personal time
being on the phone with Dell agents, waiting on hold for Dell agents or
the shipping company. I have been repeatedly lied to by both Dell and

    the shipping company.

I have waited for 18 days, 12 of them business
days, for an item that has already been billed to my account. I have
made a payment on that account already for an item I do not yet have. I
have been offered no more than a perfunctory apology from Dell or CEVA
while being told that there is nothing that either company can or will
do for me to help get this toxic waste dump of a mess cleaned up.

As of 5:22 pm est 3/24/2008 after three more calls to Dell I have been refused expedited shipping of the television and told that in an earlier conversation I refused to have a replacement television sent out at all. Another lie from Dell. Why should I be surprised?

I purchased a laptop from Dell in Jan. of 2007.For the entire year of 2007 I was unable to use the computer because it consistently caused me problems. I financed the computer through Dell Financial Services and continued to pay for it throughout the year. I had to cancel an online real estate appraisal course due to the defective laptop which has since been returned to Dell.

I received a refurbished laptop from Dell this year. I have contacted Dell Financial Services and Dell Corp. seeking reimbursement for the finance charges placed on my account for the year 2007 since I did not have use of the laptop and do not feel I should be billed finance charges for something I was unable to use. I have sent various emails, letters and made phone calls but no one will respond to my request.

Furthermore I tried to cancel a service warranty extension since I am fed up with Dell and I was told that I cannot do that since I purchased it in Jan. of this year. I see no reason why they cannot cancel and refund a portion of the money charged for same.

On 3/17/08 I received an email from dell inc. stating I needed to call the verifications office to verify my order.

I did so and the man on the phone said there was a problem with the system and had to delete my account and for me to go back online and resummit my application, but that I was still approved for the $2,000. So I went back online and resummited the form and it came back for me to contact the verifications office once again,I contacted them and this time the lady I spoke to said they had to decline me at this time, and that I would recieve a letter in the mail as to why

.I had been approved twice for the amount, and now, they claim to see nothing in their system that pertains to that.I went to my credit report and they have also put 2 inquiries on my credit, and called them back and they said they could not take it off, that I would have to deal with that on my own!I also have the printed order form in which the order was confirmed, and was awaiting shipment.

They have no knowledge of that either.I have the emails, and printed forms from them, for evidence. If they cannot give me the credit I was approved for, they need to have the inquiries taken off my credit record.I went back to dell.com and check to see if they had changed anything pertaining to this, and they still have my order as confirmed, and awaiting shipment details, thay would not let me speak to a supervisor, and sent me from sales rep,to sales rep on the phone for over 2 hours. And to no dismay,I now cannot get the computer system I had ordered, because of a mistake on their part, that they claim to have never happened. In their systems they now have me down as ordering a product from them, but with no payment method!

And now is on my credit record for no reason, and needs to be taken off!I have the copy of the order, which says the order was confirmed with the dell prefered account as payment method, and the email stating this also.Dells sales practices are beyond ridiculous, they get the consumers hopes up,accept them and then turn them down. They are very rude, and make you look like a liar as though you made it all up.I have tried to call back, but now I cannot even get anyone to speak with me about this matter, and tell me I need to contact the credit reporting agency because they cant do anything for me now.

I received my March bill, and the deferred interest has now become principal. I do not see a disclosure to that effect. I called the company, and a person located in India told me that this is the case. How can a company charge interest on interest? To my knowledge, that is not allowed.

Dell Finance is charging an interest currently of 24.74%, and if this is truly the case, the company gets 49.48% on the deferred interest balance, or more. As the Fed has lowered interest in the last few months, how can a company like Dell rip off the consumer? They take this on their balance sheet as earnings, and I as the consumer cannot take it as interest paid. Where is the accounting offset? I will need your help to get an explanation on this practice from Dell Corp. This account is in good standing, and I had never been late prior. But refuse to pay interest on interest Your help is appreciated.

I recently called to inquire about why I am still being billed. I have no documentation regarding the lease as all they have sent me is the bill which we have paid, no questions asked. I left a message with the sales agent with no return phone call. And have spoken with several people. I think I was transfer 6 to 7 times during the course of trying to get the issue resolved. I purchased a DELL desk top computer on line about 2 years ago. At the time I made the order, I entered a shipping address and a billing address. All was well for the very first month; I received my bill at the correct billing address, sent DELL my payment, and life was good. From then on each month I would wait for my invoice which would not show, so I would call DELL to be placed on hold for an average of 30 minutes just so I could get the problem rectified. The person would tell me they would take care of it. The same thing the next month, and after 3 to 4 months I would request a supervisor. One I remember said her name was Susan Hernandez, yet she spoke with a very thick East Indian accent. I explained the problem I have had over the past several months; she too assured me she personally would take care of it...she did not! Nor did Mark Smith or Kevin Jones. I would pay going off an old invoice I had already paid, but that proved to be a mistake because I would not get credit for my payment with out the proper invoice number.

I have attempted to call DELL many, many more times to try and get the problems solved yet again with either the same results or being left on hold for greater than 30 minutes. Because of DELL'S ignorance and incompetence, I have been turned over to a collection company.

Our company recently received notice that we owe $1,017.77 on a Dell Finance account. This notice took me completely by surprise. I pay all the bills and keep all the records for the company, and I paid the Dell bill for the equipment ordered (a computer and Quickbooks POS system) in full on September of 2005. After calling the Dell Customer Service number and spending nearly 2 hours on the phone with a couple different representatives, one being a Resolutions Team representative, I was able to better understand what had happened with the payment I sent Dell in Sept. of '05. The full payment of $1982.67 was received by Dell 14 days after the 60 day same-as-cash date. Evidently, once the 60 days passed without payment, the account transformed into a term loan. Over the past 2.5 years, the monthly minimum payments were made by drawing on the payment we made, and interest was charged on the unpaid balance (with no provision made for the $1,982.67 payment we had made). As a result, it appears we now owe $1,017.77 for a charge that was paid 14 days after the due date!

Dell never informed us that this conversion to a term loan had taken place. The $1,982.67 should have immediately been applied to the total cost, and we should have been sent a statement for any interest accrued for the 14 days late. I do remember receiving a statement with a $0 balance due from Dell Financial Services sometime in '06. I phoned Dell at that time to inquire about the statement. I was misled. I was told that is was customary for Dell to set up a business Loan account for regular business customers for ease of payment. I said I was not interested in a business Loan account and never agreed to have one set up because we pay our bills in full. I was told that there was a $0 balance on the account, and I could just ignore the statement. What I have been trying to obtain from Dell is some explanation of why they didn't apply the late payment immediately to our account instead of evidently putting it in some non-interest bearing account and drawing the minimum payments from it in order to maximize the interest charges on our account. This does not seem legal.

I was able to get Dell to reduce the balance due to $887.77 and assure me that after this payment was received, the business Loan account would be closed.

I bought Dell Computer in Dec. 2002, with the first payment to made on Jan. 2, 2003. I get paid on 1st of every month, so they set payment up so I could not make it on time. I was called by Dell and yelled at for no payment in Dec. 2002 when I just received my computer. I told her that ,and then after being treated so badly she connected me over to someone else who told me my payment was made, and I was not late. I told Dell that I was concerned about my payment, and could I make direct payment from bank or use credit card. I was told no, but he could change my date; so I said the 8th, as it would have time to get there. Dell told me only on the 1st or 15th do they accept payment; he set it up for the 15th. I asked if I would be charged, and he said no, but since I was a new customer I may get a extra invoice for Feb. and to just ignore it. Send my payment, and there'd be no charge for changing the date.

From that moment I had a Nightmare from Dell calling me all hours everyday and night, telling me I paid nothing on it. I said I had receipts in hand. They sent it over to collections, and I was harassed even more. They told me I would never have credit. I would never be able to buy anything again until I paid them off. They tried to trick me with giving my bank account number and settling for $379.8,7 but when in fact they were just going to take two payments out which would only settle the Collection agency. I asked for a letter first to be sent to me with the amounts and then a pay off at the end of 2 payments.

Now after all these years I just received a summons to sue me for full amount plus court costs. I have been harassed from the moment I bought the Dell Computer. They have mentally abused me for over 2 years until I filed with Consumers and Attorney General's Offices, plus disputed Dell with my credit companies. Dell should know that they sold me a computer knowing I only made like $579 at the time, then fixed me so my payments would be late every month--knowingly putting my payment the following day I got paid. Even with post marks they still put late fees on me. Calling me everyday harassing me--very nasty people to do any business with. I tried to fix the problem, but there is no fixing the problems; they are just out to get anyone they can--telling me I never made any payments. I have all my receipts.

I have printed receipts, and statements on my bank account of the payment. One morning I wake up with a phone call from a collections agency wanting $56 dollars from my Ramen Noodle fund. Knowing that I paid this, yet concerned about my credit, I called Dell Financial Services in order to resolve the problem. No resolution was found.

I went through two supervisors, two managers, only to get to another supervisor who told me there's nothing he can do. Now, perhaps I'm young and naive to the world of business. However, as far as I was aware- customer service is intended to help the customer. After much debate he once finally got them to send him a new hard drive since his had crashed. Then when there were more problems he was told his warranty was expired and that he would have to pay to get anything else done.

I called and called and finally got a person on the line who said she would transfer me to someone to help me. So I got a voice mail. I left a message and this person called me back to tell me that it was not her job. But I was in tears by that time and she felt bad for me and said she would see what she could do. S

he did finally get a link for me to contact. Even within her own company she could not find the person for me to talk to, but she did at least try. I received a statement from Dell after his death, even though it was charged to his account each month, and I found a number to contact.

After going through a number of people one finally told me that I needed to speak with a Melissa Contreras and I proceeded to leave her a voice mail........twice. She never returned my call.

I called again and talked with someone else who said she would email Ms. Contreras and have her contact me. She never did after weeks. In the meantime, the other lady emailed me and asked me if I had any luck with my attempts so I emailed her back and told her what was going on and the lady's name. She then emailed her and her supervisor about my situation and I finally got an email from Ms.******** who was very negative and told me that she needed dissolution papers since he had leased it in a company name.

My husband had no company, he had tried to start one at one time but there was nothing to dissolve and I tried to tell her this. I asked her what I could do and what I really needed, but she never told me. She then told me she would not talk to me any further until I sent in some dissolution papers. I asked her for her supervisor and I did get an email from him and he said I needed to contact the state for papers. There are no papers and I don't know what to do. I cannot afford an attorney as I am dealing with all this and grief from my husband's death.

It is so frustrating and I don't know where to turn from here. The first lady I spoke with told me to contact an attorney to find out about any business as I told her that I had been through all his papers and there was nothing about a business.

I emailed the supervisor and told him that I would see what I could do, but I don't know where to turn next. I feel so overwhelmed with all that has happened, I had to move right after my husband's death, I have been ill since then, and I am at the end of my rope! I have made SEVERAL calls and written SEVERAL e-mails to Dell in an effort to resolve this issue. I have spent countless HOURS on the phone trying to speak with different people or being on hold with Dell to no avail.

Is there a timeline that companies must follow to credit accounts after items have been returned? Dell is telling me I am accountable for the interest that is building from this purchase. How can I get them to credit my account the cost of the TV PLUS interest?

I purchased a Dell desk top computer for Christmas present a have regreted it ever since. I started by looking on the internet to see what they offered. I then went to a Kiosk and talked to a salesman about what I wanted. He pointed out a few things and offered me what I thought was a good deal. He offered to finance it through Dell Financial, a 9 month same as cash deal. I said sure, and proceded to let him do the paperwork. Then he told me to fill in my social and my mothers maiden name. I told him it was a present and where to ship it and where to send the bill.

About two hours later, I got home and got on my computer. I found out that the order had gone through via an email message. The only thing was it was shipped to the right address but the bill was also going to be shipped to that address. I called Dell and was told it was taken care of. Of course since it was late on a Friday, I really didn't believe what I was told. The next day I call Dell again and told them that the billing and shipping address should be different. They told me that my social and mothers maiden name had been applied to the person that was going to get the computer and that she would be getting the bill.

They told me that it was not acceptable and I needed to talk with Dell Financial. I tried calling them but found out that they were closed on the weekend. The following Monday, I called and was told it would take two to three bussiness days to straighten things out. I told them I didn't have that much time since it was already the 17th of Dec. I called Dell Custumer Support.

They said they needed to cancel my old order and start all over. I spent about an hour with them redoing the order and fixing the credit and shipping issues. I was told it would be shipped the next day and it would be delivered on the 20th. The first order was to be delivered on the 21st because she had to work on the 20th and would not be home.

I said fine, just deliver it, we'll deal with it. DHL showed up on the 20th and left a note saying they were there. She called them and was told they would be there between 8 and 12am. She waited until 1230 and had to leave. During the hours of 1030 and 1200 she called DHL a number of time to find the status of the shippment. She was even told it was not on the truck and they didn't know where it was. At 1230, she got in her car to leave, just then DHL pulls up and drops off computer.

Two weeks later she gets a bill for one Dell Desk top computer. She notifies me that she got the bill. I call Dell again and try to straighten things out, again. I was told they would send me a bill ASAP. After waiting a couple of weeks, I had to leave for a five week business trip. Just last week while I'm in a VERY important meeting, I get a automated call from Dell Finacial that says I'm behind on my payments and they have sent it to a collection agency.

This has been the worst purchasing experience I've ever had. Part of the deal was a $200 Certificate towards any Dell product. Once I get home, I am going to pay Dell off and NEVER buy anything from them again.

I think Dell financial is a rip off. My mother was approved for $3000 credit line in sept. 2005. Purchased a computer for 12 months no interest for $600. I had automatic draft for $22 until Nov.06. She had the lost wages insurance on the account. She missed a payment in Jan 06 and that became null and void. I payed $135 in auto payments and the balance was not going down any. I called to asked why and they said that my payment was due on the 29th not the 30th of the month so she was getting charged a $29 late fee every month. I asked them about it and now they have closed the account and I cannot pay on it without me refinancing the total so that they can talk to me about the account. She owes $4000 with no end in sight without me paying me this ridiculous amount. $135 a month on $22 a month for 11 months should've been payed off. No one at Dell will even have a conversation about this.

I purchased my computer on 11/26/07 thru Dell and my Sales Rep was Earl ******* at Dell. When I received the computer, I found that I did not receive all the memory that I had paid extra for. I immediately contact Dell, and spoke to my sales rep, Earl ******* and explained to him that the computer did not have the extra ram that I had paid extra for. He told me that he would have tech support to contact me and take care of the situation. This went on from the time I took possession of the computer until Feb 6, 2008.

During the time I was waiting to have the situation solved, I spoke with Earl and his supervisor concerning my concerns about the payments that were due. I told them that I did not feel that I should be paying for something that I did not recieve, and when the problem was solved, then I would be happy to make the payments. I was told by Earl ******* manager that I would not have to make the payments until the situation was resolved and that I would not receive late fees accessed, and that Dell would not report me a deliquent to the credit reporting agencies.

Finally after week after week and months of calling and complaining that I still did not have what I order, a tech contacted me personally. He told me that some of the Windows Vista programs, that the extra ram did not show up and it was running in the background. I explained to him that when you open the properties on the computer it only shows 3bits of memory. He said that yes, that is correct, but there are times that it will only show the 3. I contacted my personal IT person and ask him to check this out concerning the new Windows Vista and let me know what he found out. He did, and the tech with Dell was telling the truth. I thanked the Dell tech and bidded him good day.

Had Dell followed thru on solving the problem, this situation would not have taken almost 3 months to resolve itself. If they would have had their tech to contact me when the situation was first bought to their attention, then all of this could have been resolved.

Today, Feb 11, I recieved a letter from the collection department at Dell Financial stating that I was 3 months deliquent. I contacted the dept and spoke with a representative. She told me that I was past due. I told her the situation, and that I was not suppose to have made any payments until the problem was resolved. She told me that she didn't have any control over that. I went ahead and made the payment, which costed me an extra $13.49 cents to pay by phone. I ask her if she could wave the charges, but she said she did not have the authority to do so, and that I needed to talk to Dell Finance, that she was in collections.

So I did. I contacted Dell at *** *** **** and spoke with a gentlemen named Jeff. I explained to him what the situation was and ask him to wave any late fees and the check fees. He told me that he would. I then ask him who to speak to concerning the credit reporting as deliquent. He gave me another number. he said that he didn't have the authrority to take care of that.

I called the number, but it was to Experian and not Dell Credit Reporting. I called back to the Finance depart at Dell and got another person, named Arindam. I tried to tell him that I needed the number to someone at Dell who has the authority to remove negative reporting from credit agencies.

I got absolutely not help from this person.. He told me that I should have been making my minimum payments, and had I done so, I would have not been reported. I told him that I was told by management that I would not be responsible to make the payments until the problem was solved.

Again the rep was very rude. He told me that because I did not make the payments as per my contract, that he could not remove the negative reporting. I told him, that it was illegal to report me when something was in dispute. He once again informed me that there was nothing that he nor anyone else could do. Basically he was telling me that they were not going to take care of any of the reporting.

Another thing, Dell knew they were in the wrong because last week, they sent me a $200 gift card, apoliging for the problems that I have experienced.

So as you can see, I have a valid and legal complaint, and by them sending this gift card, they have basically admitted they were at fault.

So I ordered a new XPS M1330 which was on sale as of 2/3/2008. At check out I decided to take advantage of the Dell Financing option basically because they promised me free financing for the first 12 months as well as a 3% discount. I have great credit and was given their lowest interest rate (not that I needed it) and was off and running. I, of course being excited about my new computer and one for the need of instant gratification, checked my status daily.

Friday 2/8 rolls around which happend to be the last business day before the estimated ship date 2/11 and all of a sudden my inquiry shows my order has been canceled?! No phone call to me, no email, just the status at Dell's website indicates that my order has been canceled. Good thing I'm impatient and persistent. I called Dell was informed that the financing group had declined payment and seeing that my order was more than a week old (not true) I would have to set up a new purchase (sale being over that would cost me another $300-400).

Aren't you all in the same company? Not being a very understanding person I got shifted around to 3 different people who did nothing to help until I reached a saleman,David D., who got his supervisor to honor the previous price and incidentally upgrade to the new T8300 core2duo chip as they were no longer offering the older chip. (Incidentally, Dave told me "this is not the first time this has happened" and "that's why I should order over the phone."

Why set up automatic approval online in the first place or for that matter ask for the phone number? If I had know I would have just used my credit card, no problem.) So I suppose in the long run I made out but it wasted about 1.5hrs of my time resetting the order and now I have to wait a month instead of 5 days to recieve my new laptop.

Would have liked to have had my new travel laptop for my trip but I guess that's not going to happen. Also when looking a the exact same configuration on line it looks like the estimated shipdate (at normal prices) would be 2/15 not 2/29 that I was told. I guess my dicounted price gets me booted to the end of the line? To top every thing off when I got home from work that day what do I find in the mail?....

Oh it's from Dell Financing... I've been approved and here's my new card. Better yet I call to give them a piece of my mind and not only are they not there, but my account has been charged for the laptop they canceled and I'm carrying a balance. This is a perfect example of the head not knowing what the body is doing.

Buyer beware of Dell Financing! I can't wait to call them on Monday and tell them what they can do with my account and pending charge!

They then changed our account from 90 days same as cash and made it a 48 month installment loan. Then each month they took $29 from the payoff we sent in back in 2003 and applied it to our new installment loan.

They never in the past four years sent us a statement. They just made the payments on our behalf for the past four years. Now they want us to pay the $500 due. That can't be legal.

I purchased a Dell computer in Dec.22, 2006. I had a problem with it in Sept.2007. Dell tried to figure out what was wrong with my computer and couldn't figure it out. Dell agreed to give me a full refund. Dell said that they were going to refund me my money in the original form of payment but I told them numerous times that I no longer had the Visa Gift Cards that I had used to purchase the computer. I had used Visa Gift Cards because at the time I did not have a credit card.

Dell did send me a check in the amount of $326.03. Why couldn't Dell send me my whole amount in a check. Dell still owes me $694.25. Dell sent the money to Visa. I called Visa and the bank where I purchased the cards and they both said that neither one can help me because I do not have the 16 digit account numbers from the Visa Gift Cards. I told this to Dell numerous times. Now Dell is telling me that there is nothing they can do but there is. They can send me a check for the amount of $694.25 and Dell can get their money back from Visa. If they cannot get the money back from Visa that is Dells problem not mine.

I told Dell over and over again that I did not have the Visa Gift Cards anymore. I had also told Dell then to just send me back my computer and they said they couldn't. I had spoken to a Dell representative at two different times. It was two different representatives.

They both told me that they would put a request in for a check for me and they both said that they would email me or call me with the outcome and neither one has called or emailed me. Now these are people that represent Dell. Pretty unprofessional if you ask me.

I had to go through a series of connections through the Dell Financial Services area of the website to actually get to these people. In September of 2001 I had returned a lemon of a workstation to Dell that was under warranty. I had made my $40 a month payments on time, through October of 2001. I shipped it back to them with the original packing as specified by the customer service representative, at my own expense. At that point my account was stated as being closed, and I received a nice letter saying as much. FAST FORWARD 6 YEARS: I get a call from a collection agency stating that I owed them $2600. When I finally got a human at Dell Financial Services, they refused to discuss the account other than I had one at one time. Their official statement was that they don't have to discuss it with me because they don't own it anymore.

I have two recourses. Settle the account by paying $2400 of an amount I do not owe and never did, or get a lawyer and fight it. All the while this will stay on my report until resolved. By the way, when you dispute something like this with a credit reporting agency, they just ask if the dispute is true or false. If Dell or the collection agency says that I owe the money, they do not have to show any other documentation to prove it. Just your word against theirs. Save those letters at least as long if not longer then your tax returns. Get every one's first and last names, and record the times of the calls. Keep all this in a fireproof and watertight container, because 6 years from now it is going to be your word against theirs.

I did get 18 months same as cash financing with the final payment having a due date of November 13th. I paid the balance of $700.00 on November 8th. I ended up having to get a cash advance on another credit card and putting it in my checking account because they have restricted payments and do not allow payments via credit card even though CheckFree does allow payments with credit cards. I paid every single payment online but for some reason they don't have online invoices. I usually didn't even open the statements sent by mail because I paid online. After paying off the account I received another statement which I did open because the account was paid off. It was a bill for the 18 months of finance charges at a rate of 29.99%. They are billing me because the promotional end date was not the same as the actual payment due date and I paid a week past the promotional end date. I have had several other same as cash promotions for things that I have purchased and never ever had one where the promotion end date was different than the payment due date. I think that they do this to catch people offguard and bill for finance charges when they shouldn't. I also had no idea that their interest rate was so high. I believe that it is actually above the legal rate for the state of Indiana.

This is a copy of a letter sent to the Dell Customer Service Manger at the Home office in Dallas, Texas it was sent Registered Mail. .. no one has signed for it.

This letter will serve as a brief recap of my Dell nightmare. On November 28, 2007, I made a $100.00 on line payment: however, due to a system glitch?, $10,000.00 along with $100.00 were deducted from my National City checking account. No confirmation of my transaction was ever shown or sent to me via email from Dell Financial Services.

On December 5, 2007, a National City Bank manager alerted me to the large amount of overdrafts (23 to be exact) accrued. I immediately called Dell Financial Services.

Your representative informed me it would take seven to ten days for my monies to be returned. My bank then called Dell and requested the return of funds, to no avail. I made a call to Dell on December 10, 2007 and requested to speak to someone in the United States. Your representative Angie (#586584) was apprised of the situation. She informed me that it would be 24 to 48 hours for the return of my monies. During this conversation I requested all pertinent information pertaining to my case and the defect in the Dell Financial Services online payment system.

On December 12, 2007, I faxed Angie (per-request) complete banking details (running balances before and after the non-sufficient funds?). I immediately called Angie and left a message that she call and confirm the fax. She did not return my call.

The $10,000.00 was returned to my account on December 14, 2007.

December 18, 2007, Angie called. During our conversation, she related she had not retrieved my fax, which contained confidential banking information and my Social Security Number. Apparently, my disclosures were exposed to any Dell associate.

January 3, 2008, Angie reports $540.00 was allocated on December 22, 2007 (for bank charges). I informed her that $540.00 dollars did not cover my creditor expenses, bank and credit status, and the havoc to my business and personal life. I again informed her there was a flaw in the Dell system for on line payments. She admitted there was a problem, and I reminded her I had requested to speak with someone about this situation. Angie said she would talk to someone in higher management and get back to me.

To date, I have not heard from Angie, or anyone from Dell Financial Services.
I feel strongly that Dell should provide prompt recompense for this long ordeal, and poor

    Relationship.

Note: I have pages of emails, text files, prrof of cancelled orders, proof that my two credit cards were fraudulently used and much more. I also have my two closed credit accounts with TTCU VISA and my AMEX.

Currently the Dell Fraud department and the TTCU fraud department are both investigating. Both accounts are formally closed down due tthis copromise of my charge cards. I personally feel that Dell owes me an apology and owes me something in writing to reinstall my sense of trust. I feel like I've been robbed and violated by Dell.

Until restitution is made up to me, I can't possibly trust them with my business.

I am currently battling with DFS over a "no interest for 12 month plan" that they are now trying to collect over $1100 in interest. I made on-time monthly payments until the expiration date of 12-1-07 at which time I paid off the entire balance on line by check. When I checked my account on 12-4-07 it showed paid in full with a zero balance.

Now DFS is trying to say that somehow the payment got reversed and that caused it to be late and thus the interest penalties apply. I even received an e-mail from DFS confirming my payment on 12-1-07. All I am getting is the run around from DFS reps. I have advised DFS to either take the interest charges away or send me authorization to send the system back for full credit and I would go elsewhere. This has all just started in the last 24 hours so I am not sure what is going to happen.

My husband and I purchased a Dell product for $5500 in Aug 2004. After making 14 months of $200 payments, we called to close our account. We told the person on the phone that we wanted to close the account, and they gave us a figure of $4800. Without thinking twice since interest was over 25%, we processed a check for the amount over the phone. That was December 2005. We recently received a bill for $440.06. When we called to inquire what this was for, we were informed that the $4800 was cut into monthly payments, and the interest was still accumulating.

I searched the internet and found where the payments were made. No where in the limited statements online did I see the Payoff amount being paid. We have fought with the customer service people for a week now. It's getting to the point where I am going to contact an attorney. If they had posted the payoff amount like we had asked, the account would be closed. But they took it upon themselves to split the money into 2 years of payments just to receive the interest. After all the run around we received, it seems they were charging about 85% INTEREST. I advise all who read this to think twice--and go somewhere else to get a computer.

We are still receiving statements that show us owing DELL. We have closed the account, and now the business, and cannot afford to pay for the computer again. Phone calls, bills, what next...knock at our door? We were led to believe that the bill was paid in full after the $4800 check was cashed.

I called them to get a pay off amount and ask them to send me paper work to confirm our conversation. They refused to send me anything, saying I need to pay over the phone with a check or credit card. I send the amount agreed upon through electronic payment and it was credited to my dell account but the department that called me, who was foreign and I did not trust them without paper work, said because I sent it electronically I'm still out 600 dollars and it will be more. They refuse to close out the account over the phone. I get fraudalent offers all the time from foreign people and I did not trust who they were. I never received any paper work from them. This young man said he emailed me and I never received any email from him. I have trying to pay off my debts and dell is trying to keep me in debt. We had a verbal agreement and it should stand is they are the same company. I wanted to make sure of the company receiving my payment if they represent the company then I should be able to get the same treatment of the account being neg a payoff to close out the account. They are refusing to accept the agreement because I sent the payment in electronically.

This has caused me high stress. I have been talking to them to get me paper work for 3 mos. Then I was transfer to a mgr and he screamed at me and treated me as if I was not a customer or cared what I wanted to pay off the account. He gave me the payoff amount with no option of giving me paper work and justifed why he did not have to but he wanted me to give all my personal information to him, a credit or card or checking rte and account number. I was treated as if I was wrong with what I was asking for. I do not appreciate being treated this way and I am owed an apology as well as closing my account out.

I have non-reimbursed, invalid late charges. I set up my Dell Finance account due date, which basically occurs on the same day every month. I have it set up through my banking institution to automatically pay my bill by its due date. If Dell receives my payment early I still get a late charge. This is crazy. I have not made any charges to my account, yet my payment rose (unbeknown to me). When I made my purchases it told me what my payments would be, yet my payment increased. My balance is more than I started with.

I contacted Dell via email and telephone, and was told that they would not reverse the late charges except one as a courtesy. Apparently the lawsuit wasn't enough for them to have learned their lesson. I spoke with 2 representatives today. One could not help me because of the type of account I have, which made no sense; and the other spoke so quietly and had a strong accent that I understood nothing except that she would not reimburse me for the incurred fees. So here I am.

My balance exceeds my purchase history. According to my statements if I pay my payment too early I incur a late fee or if I pay it on its due date I incur. I don't know when they post the payment, but I am being charged extreme finance charges and invalid late fees, so basically I am not making any payments because these fees exceed any principal payments. I want my account closed and all late fees reversed. They are obviously creating fee income at my expense--and others like me.

BEWARE! I bought a Dell laptop for my niece on a 12-month interest-free account. I paid the account electronically through my credit union. On my fifth payment I noticed a late fee of $29.00 showing up from the previous month, which was April. I questioned this late charge in a letter, and Pamela from Financial Services responded that they did not receive a payment for April. I could never get ANYONE FROM DELL to ever talk to me personally so letters were my only avenue. I then contacted my credit union who put me in contact with the electronic payment service. They checked their account and it showed that it had been transferred and received by Dell on April 3rd. After that the electronic company contacted Dell Financial Services, and they said I was never late.

Several months later Dell refused to acknowledge that I had ever been charged for the late fee. We sent copies, and all they would say is I was never late. I was never late, but they kept the late fee. What upset me the most was the way they just refused to talk to me about it. My account was paid off, so they kept the $29.00. Now when I talk about buying a computer, Dell is never on my list. I'm Dell Free!

Dell sold me a system that did not meet the needs I had described. They promised over and over again to correct the situation. When that didn't happen I was promised a refund, however, they have never issues the refund. I made numerous attempts to contact Dell to resolve the situation but never could get an answer. Meanwhile, Dell Financial continues to tack on late fees and has reported me to credit agencies.

I have spent hours dealing with this issue, lost work time to try to get it resolved, and have been unable to apply for credit in several situations where I wanted to because of all of this.

I do not know now what is left to do other than take Dell to court for the serious problem they have caused. My credit is being downgraded, my family is in a state of such frustration that we don't have any enjoyment any longer. What else is there to do?

Our company recently received notice that we owe $1,533.95 on a Dell Finance account. This notice took us completely by surprise as we were under the impression that we had paid this account in full. After calling the Dell Customer Service number at 877-663-3355 and spending nearly 2 hours on the phone with 3 different representatives, we were able to ascertain the following: We made a purchase of 2 desktop computers and a UPS backup on a 60 days as good as cash? contract on 12/3/04. Payment in full in the amount of $3,737.89 was made on 4/3/05 which was accepted by Dell. Evidently, once the 60 days passed without payment, the account transformed into a term loan. Over the past 3 years, the monthly minimum payments were made by drawing on the payment we made and interest was charged on the unpaid balance (with no provision made for the $3,737.89 payment we had made).

As a result, it appears we now owe $1,533.95 for a charge that was paid 2 months after the due date! Dell never informed us that this conversion to a term loan had taken place and regardless, the $3,737.89 should have immediately been applied to it when received by Dell.

What I have been trying to obtain from Dell is some explanation of why they didn't apply the late payment immediately to our account instead of evidently putting it in some non interest bearing account and drawing the minimum payments from it in order to maximize the interest charges on our account. This does not seem legal I have written them a letter and gotten a form letter in return that addressed none of my questions. I have sent them several emails. No response.

When I bought my Dell computer (which I thought was 6 months, no financing but was wrong) I set up automatic payments to be taken out of my checking account for $300.00 a month to have the computer paid within the 6 months. The first month the payment was taken out of my account, and the second payment fell around the Thanksgiving holiday. I kept looking at my checking account, but no payment was taken out. I called Dell, and they said my account is in collections. I explained that I set up automatic payments. They have no explanation other than they want their payment.

The collections dept. tells me I will need to speak to customer service about the automatic payments. I go back to work on Tuesday the 27th, and my boss pulls me aside and says that Dell Financial has been calling her all weekend on her cell phone asking for me! She is very upset and I could potentially get fired over this.

I have been back and forth, being told by customer service to call collections, and collections saying I need to call customer service. I have been disconnected as many as 20 times and put on hold many times. Am still trying to resolve this with Dell Financial.

My wife opened a Dell credit card; they financed her $5,000 toward the same system I ordered. Dell confirmed and sent a email stating our computer will be shipped Oct 28, '07.

When we called to find out where our computer was, Dell wanted to know what the phone numbers were to verify the account. They told my wife the number she gave was not correct. They put a freeze on her account. My wife is a housewife and has two numbers: home and cell. When we call Dell and ask for a Manager for help, the people on the line make excuses why they can't get a manager. I don't appreciate being treated like a thief. I would never treat my customers like this. I chose to buy an Apple Mac instead.

On July 28, 2007, in response to a promotional ad I had seen for a 6-month interest-free account to order a Dell computer, I called and spent some time on the phone with your sales associate, Dones Tan. As I explained to Mr. Tan, I was only interested in making the purchase at that time because of the 6-month interest-free promotion, since I would then be able to pay it off with my year-end bonus in December without incurring finance charges. I then placed my order for an Inspiron 1721 and received it in mid-August. I was puzzled when I received my first statement showing a payment due of $29.00, but since it did not indicate any finance charges had been assessed, I assumed I just needed to make minimum principal payments until I paid it off in December. So I made the payment. However, I have now received my second statement indicating that a finance charge of $17.47 has been assessed. Apparently there was a miscommunication between me and Mr. Tan; although I did mention several times that I did not expect to pay finance charges and would pay it off in December. If I had known that there would be finance charges assessed, instead of the 6-month interest-free promotion I thought I was getting, I would have waited until December to make the purchase.

    Re:Credit Application-DPA

    Dear Danna:

Dell Financial Services, as agent of CIT Bank, assists with the financing of computer equipment manufactured by Dell Inc. In the normal course of business, a customer may submit his or her credit application to determine creditworthiness, and our system then apprises the applicant whether they are approved or declined. Our process does not allow an applicant to apply solely for the promotional features such as No Payments For 90 Days or 0% Interest For Six Months. Instead, these are features of the financing program, and an applicant applies for a loan, not a specific promotional feature. When you submitted your credit application through our lender's automatic adjudication process, it was determined that you did not qualify for the promotional feature, but you were approved for a Dell Preferred Account. Since you were approved, we are not required and it is not our practice to send adverse action letters. However, when applicants are declined for a loan, we do send an adverse action notice. While you may possess good credit, our lender's adjudication process utilizes a complex and proprietary scoring model based on many factors such as past payment history, amount of credit extended, length of time of established credit, application and acquisition of new credit, and types of credit established. We understand that because our lender's scoring model was developed internally, you may be approved for promotional rates offered by other creditors. Likewise, some applicants who are not approved by other creditors may be accepted for our promotional offers. We work to ensure that the necessary information is provided to consumers regarding qualification and, although the detail of our methods is proprietary, we can say that a significant portion of applicants do qualify for our promotional features. Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter. We hope this explains and resolves your complaint.

Dell posted our check 95 days after the due date, then applied our payment towards monthly lease payments over several years leaving a balance of over $700 that will become due in 2009. We only realized that the problem existed because they kept sending statements with no money due, but a balance not yet paid.

After two years, the balance has NOT GONE DOWN. It also seems that the finance charges increase with a larger payment! We have also had problems making payments to Dell by either having to hold for more than 30 minutes or being locked out of the website.

When the computer first arrived, I recieved an error message regarding some software on the computer. Dell refused to help me with tech support that I didn't have to pay for. Their reasoning for this was that they didn't manufacture software so it's not covered. Only hardware was covered in my EXTENDED WARRANTY.

So basically unless my cpu spontaneously imploded there was nothing they would do without me having to pay by the minute. To this day, my Dell balance will not go below the $1400 mark and I usually make more than the minimum payment. Dell has made it increasingly difficult to pay on time through website issues and very long hold times.

I looked at me dell statements closely when I saw on tv where a cust was suing Dell for false ads and applying a bait and switch tactics.Customers would apply for zero interest, would get approved, make their purchases and then Dell would apply the charges without the customers knowledge. I am a victim of this underhand tactic. Dell has been compounding my balances with ineterest charges since the first year.

I have contacted Dell about this.they responded in email that the promotional plan offered was strictly based on credit report and this decision was processed by a computer generated scoring model and not negotiable.Again, this was not communicated to me nor there was a credit denial. Federal law states that i have the right to be notified if credit was denied. Dell shoul also notify me about any interest or finance charges that would be added on. The only notification i received from Dell was an approval of the credit.

It would help her out. I explained that if it would delay shipment that I would rather put it on the Visa and of course would pay it in full when the bill came. Gina took great pains to develop a relationship with me so I agreed to finance with Dell. Since the initial order I have spoken with Gina 3-4 times on the phone.

I made my first payment of one sixth of my total bill. When I received my statement for the second payment I had finance charges for the balance.

After calling Gina her voice mail said she was off for two days, I called the financial services department. They told me that my purchase did not qualify for the 6 month no interest offer.

I called Gina again and left the message requesting she call me. 4 days passed (I allowed for a busy weekend) and no phone call. I called again. I received a phone call from Jason telling me to call financial services.

I called financial services and spoke to Nathan #930-803. He also told me that my purchase did not qualify for the offer. I asked him if I paid the balance in full if they would remove the finance charge. He replied that I should send in the total balance and that they would send me a refund of the finance charges. DUH! I asked why I couldn't send the balance LESS the finance charge. He said I could, but to make sure to send a note and that SHOULD BE OKAY.

I once again called Gina and got her voice mail. I expressed my disappointment at her lack of professionalism and courtesy. Ironically my mother-in-law is getting ready to purchase a new computer and I was going to refer her to Gina. I told her this and also said she would also NOT be purchasing a Dell.

This is really poor business. Unnecessary frustration and a waste of time. If companies and the people that worked for them practiced professional ethics this world would be a better place. I had given them the proper address. Service rep at first asked me to send him the correct address on my stationary, which I refused and cancelled the order. Then, he recommended that he could transfer me to their financial department, which I refused. I then asked him about the various service contracts that I was charged for, and he offered to transfer me to yet another department. I cancelled the order.

I bought an Inspiron B130 Intel Celeron Laptop Computor on-line from Dell. Their offer was if you applied for a Perferred Credit card, and you purchased your PC you would get 18 months interest free. Which I did. 3 months later I get a bill that included all the deferred Interest and the monthly interest totally about $42.00 I wrote the company sent all my stuff that states the interest free and they now try to tell me that I was only entitled to the 3 months of interest free.

I have several items financed on my Dell Preferred Account at an annual interest rate of 23.99% which corresponds to a daily periodic rate of .06572%. I have a credit limit of $3,000.00 that I have never exceeded. Just recently I made Dell authorize the return of a piece of junk laptop at a depreciated amount. Since it was an authorized return, Dell Financial Services also issued me a refund of interest charges on the depreciated amount. In the process of returning the junk laptop, I ordered another laptop and charged that to my charge account (still within my credit limit).

When I received my statement this month, all of the transactions appear on the bill correctly until you get to the Finance Charge Summary where my balance shows as $2,235.54 and yet the Balance Subject to Finance Charge indicates an amount of $5,982.09. For the 30 day billing period covered by my most recent statement, I was charged $116.76 in finance charges when in previous months my finance charges at the same APR were only approximately $30.00. After doing some calculations using the Daily Periodic Rate, I discovered that I should have only been charged approximately $40.00 based on my balance.

I of course called DFS and first spoke with a Veronica who assured me there was nothing wrong with my finance charges and proceeded to tell me that the finance charges are computed using complex mathematical computations and that everything is fine and I have nothing to worry about. She also tells me that I was not charged finance charges on the $5,982.09 amount but on the $2,235.54 amount instead and not to worry about the large number under the Balance Subject to Finance Charge column. Now, any person with a calculator can see that I was overcharged on my interest just by doing the math. There is no way that a daily periodic rate of .06572% on $2,235.54 in a 30 day billing period equals $116.76.

Dell Computer simply cannot figure out how to bill and collect money like any other normal company in America. I have never seen so many people that cannot speak english contact our company about past due invoices. Dell's accounts receivable start calling the day the invoice is due. If they cannot reach the person who handles the bills at our company, they will call anywhere from 5 to 10 times a day. They cannot speak or understand english, so it is near impossible to really talk to anyone. They understand the words check by phone and that is pretty much it.

I puchased a desktop XP computer in June of this year and was told that I was on a preferrd customer list and could have 18 months to pay intrest free Then I started getting my bills and they showed I was being charged 23% intrest.I called customer service and after many long pauses I was told that I did not qualify for the no intrest plan.Needless to say I will never buy anything from Dell again. I paid off my bill in full.

At the beginning of April 2006, I lived in Florida and completed a credit application online at the Dell website. I decided not to order a computer. Two months later, I was notified by Dell that I had late payments for a computer that was ordered 4/17/06 and shipped to North Carolina! I informed them that I had not ordered anything from them since 2001. They then stated that someone else had ordered it in my name and had charged it to my Dell Preferred Account! I inquired about the address it was shipped to and the name. Dell informed me that they could not give me that information! This appears to be the work of an employee!

I recently purchased two computers by phone from Dell.

Without my knowledge, they sent my bill to their finance department and set it up as a loan rather then sending me a bill. I never received any further communication from them that I had a loan. When I was finally able to contact someone I found out there was an outstanding bill with finance charges.

The original cost of the computers was $2930. The final pay off $3476.66, which included 3 months of finance charges. This is an interest rate of 23%.

Dell Financial Services has charged me a 19.99% deferred financial charge without informing me in writing of this financial charge. There was no indication or instruction anywhere on the bill or the original credit application of how much or when this finance charge would be applied.
