due to the economy and a single parent, i was unable to pay my creditors and was enrolled in a credit management program on or about october 9, 2008. dell was included in this program. since then, a proposal of a payment plan was provided to dell and proposed payment amount was also being send to dell. i believed that i had the dell account since 2007 and credit line of $2,500. ever since then monthly payment was provided to dell by myself until i was enrolled in a credit management program on 10/08. to date, my current outstanding balance with dell remains $2,979.18 with $35.00 late charge asssment, and at times over the credit limits charges of $35.00, billed finance charges totaled $65.00, interest rate of 27.99% annual rate. i have written to dell requesting the payment date be changed, and the payment due date is 9th of the month and payment was received on 2nd of the month, why there is still late fee charged and coorindate with my credit management, no reponse or action was received from dell. no denial was received from dell concerning my enrollment with the credit management program. i have been paying dell since 2007 and seems like no payment was reflect towards the princible amounts. i am trying very hard to pay them.

I paid Dell 11/6/09 online (in the A.M.) for 11/9/2009 due date, and was charged a late fee. Below response from cust svc says online payments take 3-5 days to post unless you pay a $9.95 same day posting fee!
Dear Ms. Wheeler, Thank you for contacting us about your account. We apologize for any inconvenience. Please be informed that on your statement dated 10/15/2009, the minimum payment of $27.00 was due by 11/09/2009. Since we received your payment on 11/10/2009 which is after your due date, a late charge was assessed as per the agreed terms of the account. There are two options for online payment: The regular payment is free of charge but posts on the account after 3 to 5 days; and the same-day payment has a $9.95 convenience fee but posts within 24 hours. As of the date of this email, your current account balance is $911.11. A $28.00 payment is due on 12/10/2009. Keep in mind however, that because interest accrues on your account daily, you may have additional finance charges assessed on your next regular statement. If you have any questions regarding your Dell Preferred Account, please call us at (800) 283-2210. Our office hours are Monday-Friday 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM CT, or email us through our website at www.dell.com/dfs. Thank you for your continued business. I am on a pre-authorized payment plan with Dell since 2006. I have paid 3,000 for my computer and printer since then. Since July/09 I have missed 2 payments but paid 2.They phone every 30-60min. every day, all day. They ask when they should schedule a payment to recover the missed payments. I always, without fail, tell them not to put a date in to make an extra payment. They say their computer will keep dialing my number until I pay them. I made a regular re-authorized payment on Oct31/09. Dell made an unauthorized payment withdrawal from the Royal Bank of Canada on Nov.4/09, which of course was sent back and a NSF fee charged because there was no money in the account. Dell has bee told repeadedly that there is no money in the account and not to do this.My opinion, it is fraud. They claim they have the right to do this. No, I do not believe the right of offset applies here. Further, they state that they do not extra accept bank payments outside of pre-authorized payments, see e.g.on paying out accounts.
Does anyone else have this problem? Anyone up for a class action lawsuit against Dell?

Opened Dell business credit account in April 2009. Purchased a few Dell products for customers. Then a few months later when trying to order a computer for a new customer, Dell states the account is closed. After calling to find out the details, they stated the account has a late payment history. I reviewed the payment histroy and did have a few late payments, but within 60 days. Nothing over the typical 120 day mark. The account is current.

I made a purchase from Dell Canada not quite a year ago (Nov 2008). I set up a Preferred Account which is a "revolving line of credit" with Dell Financial. I called 3 weeks ago to make another purchase and was told that they had to do a credit check. I work for a financial institution and know that when a revolving line of credit is set up, a credit check is done in the beginning and that is it. I questioned why they had to do another credit check and the response I got was "it is our policy". I searched the Dell.ca website and could not find anywhere where it stated that. The only information I found was that there was a "quick and easy one time credit application" and "it would be available to use whenever you wanted". So I called back and shared this information. They simply responded, "oh well it is our policy, we check after 3 months." I asked them to please show me where it stated that and no one could. I have been calling Dell for 3 weeks now trying to reach their customer service department to see if someone can answer my questions but I keep getting told that their systems are down and then they hang up on me. The only people I can get through to are sales people (how convenient). I was so upset they had me in tears, transfering me from one person to another, getting disconnected and having to repeat the story over and over. I contacted Dell Financial and the representative told me that I had more then enough money "open to purchase" on my account and she did not understand why I was being told that. She told me to call back and relay that information. I called back and relayed the information and the sales person said he would verify that information and again hung up on me. I have yet to get through to a customer service operator and I have yet to have my situation resolved or my questions answered. I was so stressed out it resulted in a migrane for 3 days. I have never been so disappointed or angry with a company before.

Several years ago I purchased a computer from Dell during a promotion and had no problems paying it off in a timely manner. This June a wanted to upgrade to a new computer and printer and called Dell Sales Dept and gave them my new address and phone number since I had moved from Louisiana to Texas.
The computer and printer were delivered and I began calling Dell when I could not get my statement. I could not reach a real person and entering my SS# did not do any good because the computer just said there was no account with that number. Finally after trying every for over 2 months, Dell finally called me and told me the statements had been sent to my address in Louisiana. (After telling them I had moved at the time I purchased the computer). I was told when the account was brought current I would have the charges they had added removed since this was there mistake and I was not the first person this had happened to. I was finally able to get an account number and paid the account so that it was current then called and asked when the charges they had added to my account would be removed. To my surprise I am now told that it is my fault that I did not receive the statement and the promotion no longer exist since I did not pay in a timely manner. They are not removing the charges as I was informed they would and i am now having to pay interest on a promotion because of Dell's mistake.

I checked out a "No interest for one year" incentive to purchase a laptop by a certain date by asking two Dell employees and two other Dell Financial Services employees whether that meant "No payments needed to be made for a full year." Each confirmed that to be the case and explained that a substantial finance charge would apply if full payment was not made when due in a year. This was fine, and suited my needs at the time. I purchased the laptop by the required date and was extended a preferred acct with DFS. The 1st bill I received was consistent with the promises made. It said that to "avoid deferred finance charges" I was required to pay the full cost of my purchase by 4/7/2010. About a month later (May 14), I received an automated phone call early in the morning saying my account was in arrears. I called twice that day, and spoke to two different people (both of whom had the last name "Smith"), who promised a supervisor would call me back in 7-10 days. No one ever called. I wrote a letter to DFS Customer Care on or about July 15th, including copies of the writings I had, with all the names and dates, and asked them to honor their promotion. No one responded. I wrote again on September 16th, this time with a cc to Dell, Inc.'s General Counsel, and received an annoying response saying the promotion was cancelled as to me because my account was in arrears! On October 2, 2009, I called the number on the letter, and after a long time got them to cancel the several hundred dollars in additional charges in exchange for my payment of the full cost of the laptop.

If we wanted our payment credited the same day, as before, we would be charged $9.95!!! Their explanation is that it is the weekend; even though it is before 9 AM and that they are not a bank.

I call dell and speak to a manager...if that what she was, and she tells my there is nothing she can do and hoped that i will continue to use dell. i let here know that the reason they are upping my rate is to avoid the credit laws that take affect in 2010. I also let here know that i had never been late with a payment. Again, she says there is nothing she can do. After that, I let her know that i will vever purchase a dell product as lond as I live and that I will no longer care if they receive the paymant late or at all and thatnked her for her time and hung up on her. RE: FRAUDULENT acct. # 6879 4501 1905 3033 548 To Dell Financial Services: In August of 2008, I purchased a computer for my brother, Joel Garson. I opened a Dell account to pay this off, #6879 4501 2906 1764 976. No Problem, until just recently, I received a notice from Dell welcoming me to a NEW account. Knowing full well I did not open a 2nd account I first thought of course, someone is using my name falsely. I contacted Dell on Sat. told that I had to wait until Monday to contact the business office even with concerns of fraud. I then contacted my brother who had indeed talked with a Dell rep on the phone on Sep. 30 or Oct. 1, the rep told my brother of a plan to insure his hard drive for about $429 for 4 years at $15 per month. My brother stated this would had to be his own bill and payment at his own address, they assured him it would. He told the rep he had asked for credit before but was turned down, they said no problem. My brother has an obvious disability, this can be discerned in a simple phone conversation, his ability to comprehend and levels of anxiety in a phone conversation are extreme. He was assured this would be fine. When I got the notice from Dell that a 2nd account had been opened in my name and then talking to my brother, I realized that fraud and deceit by DFS was apparent. My brother had never been told that this billing would be possible by creating a new account in MY NAME!!!! All of these conversations have been recorded on your end. My brother suffered extreme anxiety through this as he needed to call Dell back on Sunday and finally talk with someone to make sure that this contract and fraudulent new account in my name, unknowingly to me, is closed ASAP. I was NEVER contacted by one of your reps to even find out if I was aware of someone else even trying to open an account under my name. I NEVER put my brother's name on my account. I bought him a computer, FINAL. I see where in 2005 there was a class action suit against Dell of defrauding customers. Apparently this is still going on. My brother, under much duress, has hopefully been able to resolve this deceit by your company. I am forwarding this complaint to the San Francisco Law Firm who filed the class action suit and the Attorney General of Hawaii. Your actions reek of deceit and fraud.

My 83 year old mother and I bought a Dell 1501. It is our third Dell. We had always had good luck with them and got just what we ordered. This time the one we called about was no longer available although we had just gotten an ad. We bought the 1501. I explained that we already had the programs we needed and had the hardware, just needed a new (notebook) because the old desktop wasn't working. They asked what we had, I told them and was surprised to learn that a program called Vista was loaded and didn't work with anything we had. I had also explained that at that time only dial up was available in our area, couldn't even get wireless on satellite. After six months of calling, hours of frustration and phone bills (a cell phone, often costing expensive minutes even though toll free), they told me that Vista wasn't designed to work with dial up. Not to mention that the $599 computer we have been paying on for almost two years (and now owe over $1,000 somehow!) is basically worthless. I was told we had had it for more than six months and they wouldn't do anything about it. All I asked was that they put XP on instead of Vista. The finance charges began soaring, late fees and fees we don't know what they were keep piling up. We had been paying on time hoping in good faith to get the computer up and running. Their finance company calls seven days a week beginning early in the morning until exactly 9:00 p.m. Some days I would time the calls every 15 minutes (needless to say I had quit answering long before). They began calling my 85 year old mother that often; even calling her at work, before work, in the evening. They got her to agree to give them hundreds of dollars she didn't have trying to save her credit record. The account (and the small business she had) was in her name at the time we made the purchase. The balance keeps going up on the computer and I've begun to think it isn't ever gong to pay off or be fixed. We had been loyal Dell customers for years buying only from them. We expected better.

I purchased a computer in late 2006. I financed it through Dell Financial. When the first year's worth of payments were made, they put my interest rate up to an astronomical amount. I was in school online, and my previous computer died in the middle of a semester, leaving me no choice but to finance a new one. My husband had also left me after 9 years of marriage for no reason, leaving me with numerous bills to pay, promising assistance, and never living up to that promise. My financial status became difficult to manage, and I contacted my creditors to make arrangements.

I spoke to Dell on numerous occasions, many of which were due to harassing phone calls for bill payment. When I spoke of my situation over a year ago, no offer of any hardship program was given to me, no matter how much I pleaded. I paid my bills but late every month. Even though I kept in touch, they sent me to collections. My account went through several collection agencies. By that time, Dell's lack of understanding with me and my attempts to make payment arrangements ruined my credit. All of my other creditors were able to work with me. I don't know why they are so different.

Finally, after the collections agency began harassing me on a regular basis and many attempts to contact Dell about this, I was able to reach their hardship department with Dell Financial. They apologized profusely about the situation with the credit agency and took my account back with a hardship program. This still doesn't fix the problems with my credit all of this has caused. If they had done this for me a year ago when I told them there was a problem, I wouldn't be in such a horrible situation.

Now, I have a computer that the hard drive has crashed on, and that is less than 3 years old. I purchased it for $1,424.20 and have paid $1,344.75 on the account to date. I owe only $129.45 on the original price of the computer. My account balance, because of Dell Financial's way of doing business and the very high interest rates, is now $2,766.39. Not to mention, this balance is on a computer that is dead! Because I couldn't afford a warranty to extend after the first year, Dell stated they couldn't help me with the crashed hard drive without paying for technical support.

I am having a hard enough time as it is! The fact that the computer is dead is not even an issue for me anymore, as there is nothing I can do about it. The fact that I still owe $2766.39 on a computer that I purchased less than three years ago for $1,474.20 and have already been close to paid as much as the original purchase price makes me absolutely livid!

I need assistance. I don't feel I should pay any more money for this computer other than what is left on the original purchase price. Dell did not work with me when I tried to tell them there were payment problems until it was too late. I also asked them to mail me an itemized statement of my account nearly two weeks ago that they said they were putting in the mail, and it still has not arrived. I have also tried to call Dell Financial numerous times over the past week with very long hold times, resulting in disconnection of my calls. And now this morning, I got to the department I need and I got a message stating "The department you are trying to reach is in a meeting. Please call back in 2 hours!" with no ability to leave anyone a message. This is frustrating, and I can't take any more of it.

I was told no problem; I can pay it off early with no penalties and interest. I have now found out that I was signed up on a 24-month lease to own my computer! Dell is now saying that they charge FMV of the computer at the end of their 24-month lease with purchase price of $400 to own my computer. This is an additional $400 along with monthly finance charges.

I feel I was scammed by the salesperson. I called to resolve this issue to pay the balance I owed on the computer and for them to drop the additional $400 due to false information I was told. I specifically said I wanted to purchase the computer. First of all, I was given false information about my computer purchase. Second of all, who really determines the fair market value of the computer? I asked Dell if they were willing to lose a client over this scam and they were. They would not correct this problem. I am appalled. I am only willing to pay for the balance I agreed upon to pay for my computer.

My experience with Dell has been unbelievably bad. I purchased a computer and paid it off in full. Several months later, I received a bill for $640 and didn't even know what merchandise this was for. I had ordered nothing else! The worst part is that my son and I repeatedly tried calling Dell to straighten this out. Each time, we were on the phone for 10 to 15 minutes being transferred several times explaining our problem each time. Finally, the call was cut off. This happens each time we call. The letters I wrote begging for a response have gone unanswered and ignored.

Then last week, I got a bill from a credit agency stating the account was being turned over to them for collection. I was furious and called the collection agency immediately. They do not know what the bill is for. I explained our luck with phone calls to India to agents who do not speak English in trying to straighten this all out. This is so difficult to deal with and if I could afford it, a lawyer would be the one to contact the credit agency so this phony bill of $650 would not go against my credit. Buying from what I always thought was one of the best companies has been nothing but a nightmare and it isn't over yet. I will never buy one thing from anyone again who is associated with Dell.

This would result in a double payment, but it would save me the $9 fee. When asked to speak to a manager, the operator put me on hold for over a half hour before she returned and told me to call back in 15 minutes. I did as she asked and placed another call only to get an operator to hang up on me after pulling my information. My husband then called and would receive the same treatment.

I was talked into that as I would qualify for some added coupons and bonuses. I then paid off the desktop but after just a week, the keys on my laptop started coming off. I notified Dell and followed their return policy within their time limit.

I then purchased a Sony laptop paying cash. There were some extra charges on my account that were finally credited back to me after a month of hassles and phone disconnections from their international customer service (India). I started receiving monthly charges from Dell's credit card protection services. I had no idea that I had a credit card protection account. After many frustrating calls, they finally canceled my protection plan account but refused to credit back the previous late fees and monthly charges on a balance that was finally credited back to me by Dell.

The printer came but not the ink cartridges or paper. They were on backorder. Dell contacted me 4 times by e-mail, asking if I still wanted the order and each time I said yes.

Eventually they just cancelled the order without notifying me. They have been sending me invoices for the amount due for the past 6 months. Next step for me is the Better Business Bureau and a lawyer. I now believe that incompetency is the foundation of Dell's business model. If you are late, you receive a call from someone located in India and not in the U.S. and it is impossible to deal with. I purchased my computer in 2003 and it cost me a little over $1200. Well, now according to them I owe over $2000 and have paid monthly at least $25 over the monthly payment.

I looked into it and that was when I noticed they had raised my interest rate from 24% to $29% and I also noticed the attached late fees when payments were not late. Each time I ask to speak to someone from billing, they don't deal with that and it's always a different department. They give me a number to call and lo and behold, I can never get a live voice. All I get is an automated line stating press 1 for account balance, etc. I have attempted to press "0" for a live person, but it will never connect. I think this is a rip off, as they make more money from periodic charges than from the sale itself. No reason they should bill me from DFS instead of Dell itself. Sure enough, on a phone call, they talked about monthly charges, etc. I objected and insisted I would not pay for anything beyond the cost of the computer. I got some static about this. They would allow only one payment at a time, leaving them the possibility of dinging me with monthly extra charges.

Dell Financial Services conned me into getting a so-called $0 APR financing deal for 2 years but started leaving interest after 1 1/2 years. They helped me set up my online automatic payments over phone, for a period of 2 years so that by the end of the term, the laptop (which incidentally cost only $750) will be completely paid off.

Meanwhile, I changed my address and updated my address with them (which they never did - so I stopped getting any more statements from them- see below for their promptness in updating info) Suddenly, I think almost after 3 years, I got a call from a collection agency saying that I owe DFS over $200. Only then I found out what had happened to my account, the amount they had told me over the phone was falling short of the total value of the laptop by something like $55 or $60. I paid a portion of the remaining amount which was left over for the laptop (the Dell guys do amazing Math). Additionally, the time was not 2 years as they had told me and calculated the monthly payments for -- it was 1 1/2 years and so interest and penalties were levied at that time totaling over $200.

After calling and spending more than 3 hours on the phone, I got one decent guy from DFS who was willing to look into the problem. Brad gave me his personal extension number and told me he will get back to me after reviewing the old documents since there was clearly an error somewhere. By this time I had changed my address with DFS 3 times and still Brad told me they were sending the details to my older address - he finally managed to change the address at this time. Unfortunately, when I tried to contact Brad at his extension again, after some time had elapsed (and I got no call), the name in the voice mail went to someone else. I left a message - but no response.

At this point I called some more to try get some info and finally gave up, since I wasn't getting any call back/info from them. Now I get a call from another collection agency/attorneys saying that I owe them $575 for breach of contract, etc., and willing to settle for $475. I am outraged by their attitude and ethics. This guy from the collection agency/attorney said it was probably their fault and was willing to reduce $100 and settle for $475 instead. I have no idea why I should pay for the collective mistakes of DFS. First, their employee set up a wrong monthly payment for me and they never updated my address even after repeatedly calling them so I never got any idea of my account till last January.

They refused to stop escalating charges/get back with any reasonable information about what was going on to resolve the issue. Whenever I talked to them, they kept saying that I owe that money and I have to pay it! I even offered to buy a new laptop from them that will cover the money I owe them (I do like their hardware, unfortunately). There is nil after-service, or customer service after getting the money. I pay monthly bills larger than the laptop and I find it outrageous that I should pay them for their mistake. I now know how this country is in such deep problems - thanks to unethical business practices aimed at making money through devious means.

If someone from Dell was/is willing to listen to the customer and do something about it, this could have been avoided and they might not have lost not just one customer. But I am going to petition my friends and former corporate (university) employer to stop buying from Dell. Incidentally, I was instrumental in getting them to get computers from Dell for the past 6 years I was with them. Their business ethics are extremely devious and fraudulent.

I never received any account information or account number confirmation from DFS and so I called several times to inquire about this and when my first payment would be due. I was consistently told that it could take up to 8 weeks to get my first statement.

When I recently (6/12/09) purchased an accessory from Dell, I was asked if I wanted to place it on my DFS account. Before I agreed, I asked the sales agent why I had not yet received a statement as yet. She again assured me that it could take a while. She asked me for my DFS account number so she could check my credit in my DFS account in order to charge the new purchase to the account. I told her I did not have a DFS account number as yet, and again repeated that I had not received any correspondence from DFS. "Not to worry," I was told it should arrive any day now. So in order to access my account, she needed my full Social Security Number and my mother's maiden name.

I reluctantly obliged (not wanting to give my whole SS number over the phone to a sales agent), but I also wanted information on my DFS account. The agent told me that giving that information was the only way they could access the account to give me that information and place the new charges on my account. She placed the new charges on my account and again told me that a statement should arrive soon. I was told nothing about late charges, but was told the accurate amount that my charges were--and only the charges. Unknown to me, there were also late fees and finance charges already accrued.

The very next day (a Saturday), I received an automated call informing me I was overdue on my DFS account and that I owed $67.14 in overdue fees and finance charges. This was my first notice of this and my very first communication of any kind from Dell Financial Services. I have disputed these charges and paid off my full balance for the purchases only (less the finance and late fee charges). I am awaiting resolution form DFS. I still have not received any monthly statements from DFS and was told I should check with my post office about missing mail.

I responded that it would be an incredible coincidence, with all the hundreds of pieces of official mail and bills each month that my husband and I have successfully received in the last 2 months via the US Postal Service for the 3 businesses we own and manage (we do not have online billing for our credit accounts), that the all 3 pieces of correspondence DFS says they send (a welcome package with my account information and 2 monthly bills) were the only bills the US Postal Service supposedly did not deliver. I am very eager to close my DFS account, but must wait for the resolution of these charges. I have no idea what this has done to my credit score as I have already been sent to collections by DFS. I do not know what effect closing this account will have on my credit score, but from what I have learned from others on the web, DFS does not resolve these issues easily. But I will take my consequences and close my DFS account ASAP.

Since I refused to pay even a token payment (because to make such a payment, in my words to him, was tantamount to agreeing that I owed the money). I was not economically damaged, except for the 3 phone recording devices that I bought. My real damage is personal stress, sleepless nights, and work time lost over this deal. Also, my perfect credit rating was damaged.

On April 1, I was told the account was credited the purchase amount on March 28, but would take 3-5 business days to appear on the account. On April 2, 2009, a new statement arrived showing the original amount. I called Dell again and was told by the support group that they had authorized the credit only. Dell Financial could actually issue the credit. Since then, I have called the following numbers multiple times: 866-497-2661, 877-577-3355, 800-283-2210, 800-624-9896, 800-624-9897, 888-236-3355. I have spoken to a Gary **, Satish, Neil **, Ben, Margarita, Shaw, Angel and a few I could not understand.

On June 3, 2009, when calling 888-257-6372, I spoke with a Patrick who told me there was no record of the March 28 credit, but he was finally able to give me an Internet Confirmation Number authorizing the credit for the original amount of $129.00 as of June 3, but could do nothing about the subsequent late and finance charges and directed me to Dell Financial. I have also had multiple email correspondences to Customer Resolution with a Saranya, Senior Support Resolver from Dell Resolution Expert Team and Anton, also a Senior Support Resolver from Dell Resolution Expert Team with limited or no success. Finally, my daughter was able to get the finance charge and late fee for one month credited, but was duped into paying the June 2 charges with another credit card. We have been dealing with this issue far too long. It is a disgrace!

I spent the next few years trying to deal with the financing. From charges that they did not advise you of to charging you for making a payment to payments that they did not credit as they advised they would. Then try to deal with their collections from out right harassment, refusing to identify themselves to calling repeatedly at your place of employment even after being advised not to and calling at improper times and when you have specifically asked them not to call. I even had them calling on Sundays. This account was supposed to be settletd over 2 years ago, after having to involve an attorney, and I just found out that they never listed the account as paid off. Go figure.

I then got another call right away and actually got through to a live person and when I tried to explain what was happening, he hung up on me. I called 1-866-522-9291 again and discovered the message number was no longer valid (?) but discovered you can get a live person by pressing ###. I contacted Dell Tech support (I talked with someone of foreign accent and I stayed on the phone with them for almost 3 hours) We could not understand each other. Big language barrier. I was then connected with another tech support technician and they were located in Tennnesse.. (yes, finally someone within the U.S.) They walked me through by shadowing and fixed the computer. I believe it was 2 months later the computer crashed again. Once again I contacted Dell tech support and was connected with a call center from overseas. Big language barrier once again. I was then connected with a tech support technician in Texas. I was on the phone with them for 2+ hours. They fixed the computer and advised me that if it happened again, Dell would replace the hard drive for free. The computer crashed again but it crashed after my warranty had ran out. (After 1 year) I contacted Dell tech support and they advised me that since the warranty had ran out that I could purchase another 1 year warranty for $100. I told them that I was informed that if the hard drive had crashed again that I would be sent a new hard drive. They would not honor it. I had to take it to an outside source and had it fixed. It cost me $100+. The computer then crashed again 3 months later. I contacted Dell once again and they told me that they could do nothing about it since it was out of warranty. I told them within a year and a half it had crashed 4 times that something was defintely wrong. The only thing I did was unplug it because the weather was to be bad. When I plugged it back up it would not come on and has been down ever since. I also told them I was no longer able to pay the amount due each month ( I could pay something but not the amount due ) due to my hours at work was cut and unforseen expenses that had arose. They told me that the $39.99 was the late fee and there would be a charge of $39.99 processing fee each month if I did not make the amount specified. I again pleaded that I could afford $10.00 a month but they said that they could not work with that. I would be charged $39.99 late fee and $39.99 processing fee each month. I told them it wasn't even working and could not afford to get it fixed and I couldn't afford to pay $45 a month. They would not work with me at all. They told me I shouldn't have bought it if I could not afford it, I told them when I bought it I could. I had again told them my hours had been cut at work and we were having to pay child support (when we have joint custody of the children) and that was what was taking alot of our money. They said that they would note that, but I was still obligated to pay. I told them I WOULD pay but couldn't afford the $45 but could pay $10. They said they couldn't accept it. They would not work with me at all! They told me I should get another job. I said I would if there were any jobs out there to get! I understand that I have an obligation to pay and can afford to pay $10 not $45 and to see if they would cut the late payments and processing fees which added to $79.98 a month!!! Which is crazy!! They would not help me at all and said if that was it good day! They hung up.

Dell billed me for three charges amounting to approximately 500 on my dell preferred account in the month of February that I did not purchase. The only reason that I even knew this happened was when I went online to check my balance and I was over the limit. I never received an email of these purchases which I have with ever other purchase that I made. To top it off they have yet to send me a statement with those charges on in for the month of March. When I try to pull of the bill for March it is unavailable. When I contacted them about the error they insured me not to worry and that they would handle it. They sent me out a fraud affidavit form which I returned to them. I never heard anything. During this time I was locked out of my account online for and also customer service was locked out as well so I was unable to review my account or make payments. In the letter that they sent along with the fraud affidavit it stated that during the investigation I would not be responsible for making any payments. I was under the impression that once they settled everything my account will go back to normal and I could make payments again online. I kept getting harassing calls from the collection department that my bill was passed I never answered the calls as I was told by a rep that I could disregard the calls since my account was being investigated and locked. Finally after trying to get in touch with the investigator assigned to my case I decided to go ahead and pay them because it was beginning to get aggravating. So one day a guy calls telling me that I am responsible for my charges although the account was being investigated. So out of frustration and not wanting the negative effects on my credit rating I made a payment for 172 dollars and some change. Now this was supposed to be a check by phone. Next thing I know I get a statement in the mail from my bank for insufficient funds fee of $35.00. Confused I went online and checked my checking account balance. Just as I had thought I had about $800.00 in there. I contacted the bank and they told me that the funds were trying to come out of my savings account. To be quite honest I don’t even know my savings account number. Well that's when I found that they added extra zeros to my account to make it enough digits. Again I contacted them and they acted all nonchalant. Finally, around a month later they began to remove some of the fraud charges off of my account one in March and one in April. So I get my bill in the mail on yesterday and I had an extra 400 on my bill. Come to find out it was deferred interest on a purchase that I made back in July. First of all it was supposed to be no interest for 12 months and it has been almost ten. I called them and they told me since I feel behind on my payments I was kicked out of the promotion. Now I’m upset. I pay my bill on time I’ve had this account for over two years and have never been last additionally I was only late because of the investigation locking not only myself but also dell customer service out of my account. On top of that if they had tried taking the money out of my checking instead of my savings it would have been paid. Keep in mind that my account is current as of now. When the investigation ended I made 3 payments back to back to catch things back up. The worst part of this sad ending is that they have not removed one of the charges from my account that I’m claiming saying that it was a valid charge. I requested them to give me the order number and the item purchased. The guy told me it was for a warranty. So he transferred me to the order department. I gave them the order number and my name and they informed me that my name was not the name on the order. They refused to tell me who made these purchases on my account. It's obvious that someone got a hold of my personal information or dell billed the wrong person because I still have my account card in my possession. They say it was a purchase for a laptop 1501 warranty. If they look at the records I have never purchased a laptop. Also there should be away for the to match up the express service code on the laptop to its right full owner and bill them instead of me. They also refused to remove the interest.

Even though I have yet to even have my order proccessed, I have already had a very negative experience with Dell Financial Corp. On April 23rd I visited the Dell website to price out a laptop for my wife. After about two hours of spec'ing out the machine, I finally had it configured just the way she wanted it. I did however have a question about color availability so I called and talked to a man in sales named Tyler. He was very pleasant and helpful in answering my questions and even offered to help me get my computer ordered. I politely declined, telling him that I wanted to do a bit more browsing on their website and I would then order it on-line. At that point, he sounded like I had just kicked him in the teeth. After hanging up the phone, I realized that he probably worked on a commission basis, and since I had done exactly that myself in the past, I decided to call him back and place my order with him after I had checked everything out. At that point he informs me that Dell has a 12 month no interest loan available. I usually pay cash for everything I buy, but figured if Dell wanted to let me use their $$ for free for a full year, why not finance it and pay it off before the 12 months was over. I placed my order with him, got approved by Dell Financial Corp(or so I was informed) and figured I was all set to go. I even recieved a confirmation email from Tyler thanking me for my business, and another shortly thereafter from Dell Financial telling me I had been approved for X amount of $$, along with an assigned account # to reference. On the 25th of this month, I recieved another email from Dell showing the status of my order as being "cancelled." I called my buddy Tyler to ask what was going on and he tells me that it appeared that D.F.C. couldn't "verify" my financing. I was unclear as to what he meant by that so when I asked him for a clarification, he tells me that DFC had attempted to call me but got a recorded message saying that my number was no longer in service. I told him that was rediculous as my telephone # has always been in service. I then reminded him that he even called me at the # I provided on three seperate occassions(he also asked me for it about 15 times during the order process). He then asked me if I had a different phone # than the one I provided to him. Since I don't, I became even more curious as to what the heck was going on. He says that DFC called the telephone # that was assigned to my social security #(I never knew there was such a thing). When I ask him what number they were calling he reads off a # that I had three years ago at a location almost 300 miled away from where I currently live. So instead of letting the right hand know what the left hand was doing, they just decided to go ahead and cancel my order. Tyler gave me the direct # to DFC and I call only to get someone with very broken english who is virtually impossible to understand. I did however get that she was informing me that I provided a them a non-existent phone # so my account could not be verified. After explaining the situaltion to her three or four times, she puts me on hold for about 3 minutes, comes back on the line and tells me that I will need to wait 10-15 business days, at which point I will receive a decline notice from them that will also explain their appeals process. I asked her why she couldn't just call me back at the # I had given them on numerous occassions and verify me over the phone and she just says, "we can't do that". Sooooo....now I have to wait over 2 weeks, appeal, and when verified, re-submit my order to Dell. I was told initially that I probably wouldn't receive my computer until the beginning of May, but now it appears that it will be closer to June. I'd like to just cancel my order, but unfortunately, Dell is the only company that will let me build a computer exactly the way I want it.

I had ACCC pay Dell each month based upon my monthly statement that I received from Dell. I thought the due dates were the same each month. I have constantly paid Dell each month thinking Dell was paid on time. Recently, I was contacted by ACCC to inform me that they could not get Dell to give them a pay off amount for this account. I then called the Dell customer service to try and find out why, and that's when I realized that I, along with my monthly payments to Dell from ACCC, had paid Dell a lot more than what was owed on my account in December of 2006.

When I asked the Dell customer service why, I was informed that my account had been paid late from 2006 to date, only being paid on time when I made an additional payment to Dell separate from my ACCC payment. Despite my efforts to make sure you were paid, I have been charged an abundant amount for late fees, which in turn has caused my account balance to be more than what it was in 2006. I have paid my Dell account each month on time by the statement I had in December of 2006. My payment was dispersed to Dell from ACCC in check form the third day of each month by ACCC and credited to my Dell account on the 10th or 11th day of each month. I never knew the billing cycle of Dell, therefore I could have never known the correct due dates. Even if I had known, I could not change the dates that the money would be theirs to pay Dell. I am requesting that Dell remove all late fees and finance charges from my account from December 2006 to date. I could understand if my payments for the past two years were more than a month, but this was only days and I had never missed a payment.

Since then, I've been hit with Billed Finance Charges for every month I've had a balance on the loan. Due to my limited income I can only pay the minimum payment, and in so doing the interest eats up the majority of the payment. I get the charge which has steadily increased my loan to over $1500. I have since paid a total of $1800 to Dell and my loan balance isn't decreasing. It wasn't until just recently that I found out from Dell that the only way to avoid the finance charges is to pay the loan in full, which is not clearly marked on their monthly statements and it takes a basic interrogation through email to get them to tell you.

On September 19, I submitted a letter stating that I was willing to pay the balance of $1601.65 in full but not the interest. I was not advised over the phone of any such arrangement and I did not get a contract stating that the interest would be charged like this. I did not want to jeopardize my credit and wanted to make this debt clear.

I advised them that if they went to my credit report with this balance, I would not pay anymore. They did do this. I advised them that I would return the computer to them and they did not want that. I've ordered about 5 items from Dell where 3 of them arrived with one problem, but after a call I got the issue resolved whether it was to send back the item or to wait until a tech went to fix it. I've been making on time all my monthly payments. Today, I tried to order a camera over the phone. They took my order and at the end they told me that I needed to call the financial department to confirm with them my order (first time this happens). They gave me the phone number and the order number so I could confirm it.

I called the number they gave me, and an automatic service asked me to enter my Customer No ID. So I did, and I was told (for 3 times) that they couldn't find it. So they put me with a live person. I gave them all the information (name, name of business, address, account no., telephone no, etc). I told them that I was required to confirm a purchase I just made and gave them the order number. They put me on hold for a period of 10 mins, and after that, the person came back and told me, in resume, that she was sorry but my account was on hold for verification purposes and that she could transfer to customer service so I can make other payments arrangements to buy the camera and that at the moment she couldn't give me any more information.

I insisted and asked her why if I made all my payments on time, etc. But I couldn't get an answer. I checked my e-mail and I even received a confirmation for my order, but when I logged into my account, there was no pending order. So I went and placed the order online and everything went through. I received the acknowledge e-mail and the confirmation e-mail, but that was it.

Then I logged into the Dell financial website and saw a red rectangle saying that my account was blocked. I cannot even check my invoices, my payments, nothing! I

made another call to try to get more information, and they put me through 6 different departments and couldn't get any information. I believe I have the right to know the reason why my account has been blocked, since when and when it will be unblocked.

I have tried many times in the past few months to settle this with Dell; however I have only been able to reach a call center in India.
I purchased a laptop from Dell in April of 2008. I was having intermittent problems accessing the internet from the first day of use. I constantly had to shut down and restart the computer in order to get it to work. In September 2008 the computer was not getting an internet connection at all. After spending 1hour on the phone with my internet provider, it was determined that it was an issue with the computer and not the internet connection. I spent another hour on the phone with 3 different dell representatives and it was determined that I need to reinstall the hard drive. I have knowledge of computers and have done this in the past many times on my own, but I agreed to pay the $69 fee so the person can walk me through the process anyway. After saving all of my data, I reinstalled the hard drive and the computer worked fine for about 2 weeks. Then I started having the same problems all over again with the intermittent connection to the internet. In December 2008, I had no internet connection. I went through the same process I did in September, calling my internet service provider and then Dell. This time, after 2 hours on the phone, it was determined that my computer was not recognizing the internet connection. I was again told that I need to reinstall my hard drive. I explained that I already went through this process 3 months prior and the problem was not solved by reinstalling my hard drive. However, I am a graduate student and it was the end of the semester and I had to take an online final that same night. I needed my internet connection. I was then told that it would be around $130 if I wanted her to help me. First, I asked why it was $69 in September and now it was $130. Second, I told her that I knew how to reinstall the hard drive and I didn’t need to pay the $130 for her help. She then continued to tell me that I couldn’t just put the disk in and reinstall the hard drive because in her words, “there are certain drivers that you will need me to install for you, that you don’t have access to. So, I believed her. I agreed to pay the $130. I saved my data again, put the installation disk in the drive and reinstalled the hard drive, doing all this while the girl was on the phone. I was explaining to her what I was doing step by step. When the process was complete, I told her I was done and was waiting for instructions from her on how she was going to install these “drivers. She then said, “Ok, you’re done. I was shocked and asked her what about these drivers she was supposed to install. Since my internet connection was restored, she now stated that she didn’t have to do anything. At this point, I was furious and told her that I did not have to pay $130 for what I just did. When I asked her why she told me I was going to need her help to do this, she then said that it was my choice to use her “help and she didn’t force me. I then told her that I would follow up with the financial department because she was tech support and was not going to discuss financial matters with me. She then stated she was going to put a notice on my account that I would be asking for a refund and it should not be given to me. At this point I hung up on her. I then began my unsuccessful 3 month quest to speak to a manager at Dell. It turned out that even after I reinstalled my hard drive, the same problem with the internet connection came back. Finally, in January I took my laptop to Staples and for $40 it was fixed. It turns out that many Dell computers have the same problem with custom configuration. I have not had an issue since I took it to Staples in January. In my attempt to resolve this issue I absolutely refused to pay this bill, but now because of this, I have ruined my credit. I finally paid the bill last week because of the 7 phone calls I was getting every day. In the last 3 months, I attempted to contact Dell headquarters in the United States but there is absolutely no phone number listed anywhere. Every number I called was to a call center in India, and in my attempts to speak with a manager, I have been hung up on, put on hold for 20-30 minutes at a time and I have racked up an enormous phone bill in the process.

I had to hit CtrL+alt+del and then hit shut down; but then it would be in the logging off mode until I manually switch it off!
I phoned them and they put me right to there software department where I was told I'd have to pay a nominal fee which turned out to be $120 dollars! Maybe that's nominal to the CEO of Dell but for a student, I don't think so. I ask them how is a company that provides me with a computer package suddenly not responsible for the software THEY installed? The answer from every robot employee was it is Dell policy sir that we only cover Hardware in our warranty to every one of my arguments which had the nature of : wheres the common sense in providing a product and not being responsible for all of it? Absolute drones these people were, no one was actually issuing any customer service, just adding to my frustration. I asked if I can speak to someone higher up: no you can't they all said.

I then called Dell Financial Services to complain that I was making payments on a system that didn't work. The woman was very sympathetic and said I didn't have to pay until the system was working. She stayed on the line while I spoke with technical support, but she was disconnected prior to the completion of the conversation. Techncial support didn't fix the system so I stopped paying for the system.
I started receiving telephone calls from Dell Financial Services, which were automated calls which usually proceeded to hang up once I responded. I was getting these calls 4 to 5 an hour for two to three hours in a row. Then I wouldn't get a call until the next day or a couple of days. Then Dell Financial Services had a collection company call me. I agreed to pay because Dell tech support was once again trying to fix the computer, but the collection company refused to take a payment unless I provided personal information about my husband who wasn't even on the account. I refused and we were at an impass. A few days later the collection company accepted the payment without the personal information, but they also contacted the credit bureau. At the same time I received a telephone call from Dell Financial Services and the representative again said I didn't need to make a payment until the system was working and she would contact the credit bureau. Instead I have started paying on a computer that still isn't working 100%, I have had my credit rating DESTROYED, and I have been charged numerous months of fees.

After applying online for finance charges, I was approved for $1500 and told that the terms of my agreement would be forthcoming in the mail. When the mail arrived, I did not see an interest rate. I didn't worry because I had planned to pay it off within 6 months and according to the online verbiage, I had zero 0% finance charges. I set up automatic payments online and prepaid my first payment ($23) by $27 for a total of $50. Dell accepted my first payment and afterwards sent me a separate bill not for principal, but for back finance charges. Since I had sent $50, I figured no problem, but only after I complained did DFS tell me that payments prepaid would not affect the principal, so they slammed me with late fees, which they took out of my next payment, causing a big loophole. When I received my statement for March, I actually owed DFS over $800. I complained and they resent me a new bill for approx $748 acknowledging the $100 payment I sent in Feb. They refuse to tell me how can I find out what I owe in real time so that I can just pay the bill off without being surprised with related finance charges next month.

I have an account with Dell & have purchased few items online from them & to be specific a computer, printer & just recently a camera & case in separate occassions. I cannot remember which of these products I ordered that I used my dell preferred account or if I ever used it. I have moved residence & had been updating my address from the post office & have updated my add/email/phone number in my dell account but for some reason I've never received any bill statement from them for months nor thru email alerts nor phone until now that I had to pay a late fee. I had been receiving products that I ordered & obviously if you order, it will always asks for delivery & billing add or else it won't proceed so obviously they have my address. I had been receiving Dell advertisements thru email so it doesn't really make sense that they won't send me a bill. Approximately two weeks ago, a COLLECTION AGENCY from DELL FINANCING had been trying to get hold of me thru my cellphone approximately 8 times a day- morning & night & had left a machine automated voicemail morning & night so I tried calling them back per instruction on the voicemail & more than 10times I tried & it won't even let me proceed because it didn't recognize my ZIP code number. I didn't know what was the issue because I wasn't able to get hold of them. After this incident, I decided to purchase a camera using my preferred account but won't even let me use it. So I opened my account with the username & password I had & was shocked to find out that I owe them $227 & was long overdue. I called the dell financing service & asked them if they can provide me a detailed bill statement that will show me the item purchased because it doesn't show in my account & I needed to know what I'm paying for & I told them I never received any bill so I don't believe I am to pay for a late fee. I couldn't even remember that time what items I have purchased from them. I have to go around the house to see which ones are Dell product. They are not helpful at all. Everytime I call, I always have to update my record & I called them more than 3times. They gave me another number for customer service which always ends up going back to their number/dept. This went on & on & on...It was so frustrating & I searched for another number & finally got hold of a live customer service person who transferred me to 5 other individuals who ended up transferring me back to dell financing people who were not able to help me in the 1st place. I have always been a responsible individual who makes sure I take care of my debt/credit & don't want to deal with any collection agency. My credit is my lifeline & for them to just call me to tell me I need to pay a late fee for an amount I'm not even aware I owe is a very frustrating experience. I can fully pay this amount in one time if I really do owe this. All I wanted to have is a copy of an itemized bill statement showing the purchased item & the amount & if I do owe this amount, I don't believe I have to pay for a late fee because I didn't receive a statement from mail nor email alert. This I believe is not a very hard request, I have the right to know but they gave me a ran around! Unfortunately, I still haven't resolved this issue with them because no one seems to know anything & they are very dismissive! This is very inconvenient & very frustrating. Dell won the lousiest & worst service ever. They may be a big company but they will start losing customers if they don't change & better their service.

At no time was my wife told that there would be a charge related to her call nor did Tech Support discuss or resolve her problem. They merely referred her to AT&T. In order to correct this problem, I called the Tech Support phone number given to me. By the way this phone call took 40 minutes and I was never connected to anyone who could verify that this was a legitimate charge or that it was related to my wifes call.. $ 105.93 this is for the first V305 printer which I purchased on Feb. 2nd and applied a $100.00 coupon coupon code 5812?M63P66LLT. I was told that no coupon was applied to this purchase even though I distinctly remember providing the code over the phone and noting on the coupon letter the date and confirmation# of the purchase. (see enclosed) If the coupon had been applied correctly, this item amount should be $5.93. I was told that the only way to resolve this problem was to return the printer and then order the same printer again and again appling the same coupon. You must have some record of my being sent the coupon. Just apply that $100.00 to the purchase and credit me for the $100.00. $ 95.01 I was told this was for the purchase of a 948 printer. The rep on the phone agreed that someone else purchased this printer and that I never ordered or received this printer. I therefore am enclosing a check for $144.98 which represents the correct charges plus the correct amount for the first printer of $5.93. I would appreciate it if you would amend my bill to indicate the correct amount and apply my payment to reflect a 0.00 balance. I tried to call in on February 7, 2009 to pay the account in full and was told they could not take my payment for the $1916.08 because I had a payment already scheduled for that day. They were very persitant and rude and would not allow me to pay in full but threw a fit for a future dated payment for $58.00. They then advised me to call in on Monday to talk with Customer Service as they can take off some of the additional finance charges that have accured. ( This to me tells me that they know that they are in the wrong.) Monday came and I called and got the run around for about 3 hours and was just told to keep calling customer service until I finally got them on the line. After numerous calls (got hung up on several times), and several supervisors later was given three different addresses to write a letter to and offered a credit of about $50. To me I have well paid for this computer. To still owe is ridiculous. I paid $566.00 on the account to get it back below the credit limit and just looked at the bill and now only have $90 in credit available cause they got me with another $40 charge on interest. This company is the biggest rip off I have ever seen.

I bought and returned a laptop from Dell, then bought a replacement on my credit card.
The refunded amount was less than the purchase price for an unknown reason. I have been trying to sort this out since October. Every month I get a new balance with new late fees and finance charges. I constantly get my calls dropped by DFS. I have even had Vonage place the call for me using non-vonage lines. They constantly just drop the call. I am faced with paying the fraudulent charges or with getting new late fees and charges added every month as there is no way to sort it out. I have spent literally 3-4 hours on several evenings trying to sort this out. Last month I agreed to make a payment and I still got charge new late fees this month. It cannot be possible that a credit agency in a foreign country can hold you for ransom with no accountability like this.

I received a computer catalog and called the number to inquire about purchasing a computer in2006. The woman on the phone told me a 0% financing for 18 months on a xps400 computer. She ran my credit and told me I qualified for $1500 dollars and that as long as the account was paid in full by 18mos that i would not be charged finance charges. I accepted the offer and provided her with necessary info she needed for the recorded call. I got the computer and all was fine. Then I moved to a different address and called Dell to notify them of the address change so they could send the statement. A statement never came. Instead I had people from India calling me telling me now that I needed to make a payment I explained the situation about my address change and how i was waiting for the statement to make payment because i dont like giving me credit info over the telephone. They would verify my address which always seemded to be my previous address and they would always say it was being mailed but for now that i needed to make a payment. It took three months for the statement to arrive and by that time they had turned the account over to the dell collections departemnt .Everyone in the collections dept seemed to be from India and was now informing me that my payment would include finance charges. I wanted to know how this be when i called several times to receive a statemnt so that i could pay them and my terms were 0% financing for 18mos. At that point i did refuse to make a payment becausee i wanted to speak to someone in upper management to discuss this matter further regarding finance charge that i was not responsible for. Everyone that called me was india told me they couldnt transfer me to anyone and called numerous times per day (15-20times)even on Sunday. As time went on Dell charged the account off and sent it to a collection agency. When I spoke to the collection ageny I was eager to get the matter resolved happy to finally be speaking with someone who did not speak broken english. The rep I explained the situation to said being that that the account was already charged off that there was nothing I could do be cause I signed a contract. I told him i never signed a contract and he told me being that I signed for the computer as received that that is the same as agreed to contract terms. I told them about my initial conversation with the lady and the recorded call and advised them that that was not the terms that were explained to me at all and if they just pulled the recorded call and reviewed it they will see that the terms i agreed to were not the terms that were taking place especially because i only had the computer all of nine mos at the time that this conversation was taking place. But all he cared about was trying to get me to settle and receive some form of payment from me which now at this point I was meeting them with major resistance because I felt like i had been tricked and being forced to pay for a computer which now included 18months worth of finance charges even though i didnt even have the computer for 18months and basicall i had been decieved and taken advantage of. To make a longer story shorter I did settle with this collection agent primary financial services paying $1900 for $999 computer which (dfs) is still listed on my credit report as a derogatory item. I dont know if there is anything i can do at this point. When I accepted the computer I was trying to establish credit because I never really have any major credit history and instead helped in doing the the opposite but getting me to agree to terms that were non existent and failing nor any dell staff members that were able to aid in remedying this situation.

The first time I called Amy advised that a second letter was sent out because I obviously did not receive the original one. On my third attempt I reached Eric who advised that a second cannot be sent out for security reasons, and the Amy obviously lied. The end result is that the verification of my account can never take place, which means that I can never access my account online, which means that I have to send a check or pay with a service rep for a small charge of $13.95. Furthermore, I contact the service department via email only to be told that I needed to call the infamous verification department. In summary, I will never buy a single product from Dell again.

The original sales rep, didn't provide me with the right OS disc.. so I had to reinstall my os. Now it's in collections with Oxford Mgt. I keep getting phone calls from Anthony and Ann Parker, I originally had this settled with a dept. management program, though they didn't agree to my payments that I had set up. It turned out the gal that set up the payments was released from that collection agency. I requested my account # so that I can issue a complaint of service to Dell, which is on their site, and I was refused pending my account verification. This process continues with no one being able to give you an answer on why verification is needed when the account was already established. I never was able to use the remaining balance of my credit, which in the statement says it's a revolving line of credit, until the hold on my account is lifted. They will not provide you with any account information, Balnce, interest statements, etc. until this hold is cleared. Called on 12/2/08 to verify correct balance due on 12/6/08 in order to avoid deferred interest charges. (I was unable to access my account online, and could not pay online.) Their system was not current and did not include all payments made in November. Called my bank to verify payments had gone through the bank and deducted those paid from the amount due on current statement. Paid the remaining balance on 12/2/08 through Dell phone system to insure immediate application of payment with an additional $9.95 fee. Assumed the balance was paid in full yet consequently received statement reflecting a $100.00 balance due with a subsequent deferred interest charge of $457.00. Called DFS to inquire about the $100.00 which I could not verify through the online system. Requested access to verify the mistake by checking their statements with my bank. I also said I was willing to make and immediate $100 payment until I could verify the mistake. The woman I spoke to said she coulod give me a $50 credit to my account but could not do anything else regarding the deferred interest charge because I did not pay by the promotional expiration date. I said that was my intent on 12/2/08 when I called to get the balance due, but it was not correct, and they could not verify anything other than the information on the statement at that time. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was given to a man who would not give me his name (he was also from India). Before listening to my explanation and after putting me on hold, he offered me a $100 credit to my account but insisted that I had to pay the $457.00 fee. I explained that I thought I had paid the balance on 12/2/08 and that is why I called to verify the balance due and paid the additional $9.95 to insure that I was immediately credited the payment and therefore would not incur interest charges. He did not care. I asked to speak to a representative in America and was promptly disconnected. I then continued to call Dell phone numbers in an effort to reach someone in America but was told that I could only call the 800 number and that it was automatically routed to India. I then emailed DFS regarding the issue and was told the same script, that I had not paid the balance in full by the due date and therefore owed the additional amount and would continue to accrue interest on that amount. Five emails later, I was finally told that in order to dispute this issue with someone in America, I had to write to a P.O. Box in Texas just to request the form to dispute this issue. I have done that and am waiting for a ressponse. However, at this rate another month will go by and I will continue to be charged 23.99% interest on deferred interest even though my balance is paid in full.

I am disgusted by Dell and their lack of customer service. The way we, the customers, are treated is horrifying.
My issue: I bought my $1200.00 Dell computer almost 3 years ago and have been paying it off every single month, at the same time, every month, since the day I purchased it. I set up the automatic payments immediately when I received my computer. A technical glitch in their billing system set the automatic payment incorrectly and pulls out my monthly payment 2 days after the due date therefore costing me not only my monthly payment but also finance charges and late fees. So now, my $1200.00 computer that I have been paying for for 2 1/2 years every month (I have NEVER missed a payment) now has a $1550.00 balance. They claim that I did this, that I set the payment up this way. Why would I purposely set up my automatic payment to be LATE??? The whole point of the automatic payment is to NOT be late in order to avoid late fees and finance charges and just get the item paid off in a timely manner. Every time I call, and I have called at least 20 times in the past 2 years to get this resolved, it's as if I am put into an Indian limbo. No one records my calls so when I call back the next time to see if this has yet been adjusted or if someone else can help me, no one has any idea who I am or what my issue is. It's like I start from scratch each time I call. These Reps are rude, condescending and speak terrible English. Then when I ask to speak to someone in Management to assist me with my billing problem, I am denied my request. Aren't there Managers or Supervisors at Dell? Who is running the show? I am an excellent customer, an honest customer; this issue of mine is OBVIOUSLY an error. All I have ever wanted to do was pay for my computer and move on. Now, I want to pay off the balance of the computer itself and that is all. These late charges and finance charges should be dropped. I am sure that I have paid the $1200.00 that my computer costs by now. I don't deserve this kind of treatment and I know I am not alone. I just searched the internet and ONE website alone has over 43 pages of Dell customer complaints very similar to mine. Thank you and I hope you will help me. Dianna Collins

I called to let them know I would be out of work for only two months. But I knew I had this debt and would be paying it when I returned to work. 4. In the mean time, I have been being charged each month for both computer systems. I keep being told that I have three accounts and they are all past due. When I told them I have been paying these bills and apparently the payments are going to the old system which I thought was closed out. They will not apply my payments to the correct acct. and say that I have to still pay for the old system as well because I still have it. I told them it was not my fault that they haven't sent the return info. and I have been requesting it. Why would I pay for a computer that doesn't even work. I asked how much it would be to break my lease. The response I got was, you can return the equipment but you'll have to make the lease payments until the contract is up. What idiot would do that. And the buyout price is ridiculous. Now that my credit is impaired by Dell and the incompetent foreigners that I have to deal with, I will never again do business with Dell.

I asked for a phone number to the Soldiers and Sailors department and he stated that they did not have a phone number just a fax. I faxed a letter a while ago with all my contact information on it so we could resolve this issue but NO ONE will help and NO ONE will lower the interest rate. Bad thing is - we have faxed orders which have been received stating my husbands name and location of deployment and they say that is not enough that he needs a roster. We leased a computer from Dell Financial Services in February, 2006. In November 2007, we spoke with them about end-of lease options (two year lease with fair market value buy-out at end). They told me I had three options: Pay about $450 and keep the computer, send it back to them, or continue to make monthly payments for six more months, and keep it. We chose to continue to make payments, as we were about to start construction on a new building with new offices, and we would need new computers at that time. It seemed like a good idea to just coast for a while.
When I received a bill from them today, I started checking, because it seemed like we had already made the six extra payments. Fact is, we made eight, so I called them. The call center in India (or Pakistan) tells me that there is no six month option. I could either pay up, send them the computer or make payments indefinitely. I told them that was not the agreement, and asked to speak to a supervisor. Connected to an American voice (probably Austin), the lady on the other end of the phone told me that there was no six month termination deal, but an 18 month termination deal. I told her that was not acceptable, and that we would not tolerate having the rules changed in the middle of the day. She asked for proof of the six month deal in writing. Well, the fellow in India (or Pakistan) that made the deal never sent me an email verifying the deal, time passed, and I never thought about it again, so, no mam, I don't have anything in writing. I asked to speak to her supervisor, she put me on hold, came back, and said she would make a one-time offer, if I would agree to it and pay $108 over the phone right now, they would terminate the lease and let us keep the computer. I told her we had already paid two months more than agreed, and that we wouldn't pay any more. She said she was meeting us half way by going from an 18 month deal to a twelve month deal (all this after we paid $53.96 every month for 2 years, plus 8 more months at the same rate. $1726.72 for an $1151.00 computer). I demanded to speak to her superior. She said she had no superior to speak to. She said if I had a complaint, she would give me a fax number to fax my info to. Oh, sure. Send her a fax so she can throw it in the trash.

Here's a recent copy of a letter I composed yet again to Dell attempting to right their wrong.
Last summer between the months of June & July 2007 you replaced my laptop computer with reluctance only after hours of frustrating phone calls, allowing my warrenty to laps, constant technical help calls, repeatly sending me the wrong recalled parts, and replacing the Mother Board. Here I am a yr. later still in collections, being offered a lesser payoff settlement and still disputing the amount owed on that computer. 1st your company told me they'd never replace the product b/c in the 2 yrs I'd owned the now replaced product that I'd never complained, never asked for help or requrired assistance/technical support once on the product, b/c they showed no record. Which was odd and I disputed this by presenting saved copys of letters I'd sent and received from your company, emails to and from tech support, product replacement documents, all prooving I'd been in constant contact, made several complaints, needed constant help with the product and was unsatisfied from the beginning w/the product. After being accused of all of the above and your company being prooven wrong on several accounts your company replaced my computer because the evidence I'd supplied not only to your company but to the BBB and 3 credit bureaus was overwhelming accurate and stacked in my favor. So, I should be but I'm not surprised to be sitting here a yr. later reminding you of your broken promises. It's kind of hard to keep your promises when you can't even keep accurate records! In 1 of our many phone conversations which lead to the replacement of my computer which if you'd bother to check b/c I encouraged and asked that all my phone calls be recorded for future quality purposes, that I admitted that I had stopped payment b/c your company kept repeating "I'm sorry there's nothing we can do to help you with that problem at this time." My response simply became "then I'll quit paying on the product and when you don't get your money then maybe you'll find a way to help me." Call after call, letter after letter, email after email I was still dealing w/a faulty product and receiving the wrong replacement items which disallowed safe use of the product. Well true to my word, you quit receiving your paymentts, I started receiving calls from you and I finally got my replacement! In all accuracy I started receiving collection calls 2 months after you hadn't received a payment and @ this time my computers balance was around $600, b/c it only started out @ $844 to beging with! which as you can see is far less than the $1330.22 you're asking. The promise your company made to me which I'm sure is in 1 of those recorded phone calls somewhere and which I've relayed to The Associated Recovery System on several accounts was that you were going to bring my account current, remove all late fees, interest and bring me current to the date on the amount very last paid b/c when you quit helping I quit paying!

I have paid over $1800 for a purchase that was originally $1,576. I requested a payoff balance this week because the computer no longer works since the motherboard is damaged. I was told I still owe $1435.09. This is due to the exorbitant interest rates that Dell charges. Each statement I've received since 2004 lists a different interest rate so the balance has never gone below $1400. I am never able to get anyone on the phone to explain this to me from DFS customer service. I just get transferred to different departments and the phone is eventually disconnected after being on hold for over 30 minutes.

I called Dell and explained the situation and was told by the supervisor it would be taken care of.

They call me 8 times a day and hang up. When I call them back to discuss the account, the minute they hear the account number they hang up. Now it's just plain harassment. They call me at all times day and night. Now they want to charge me late fees and referred the account to a collection agency. I am being charged $76.00 for something that's not my fault. But after three years of payments, never even being so much as late, you would think they could lower it. They did over a year or more ago to 27%. Wow, I have even written certified letters which they have signed for. This months statement said make bigger payments, or pay it off for better interest. I have sent so many emails, it's unreal, and get the same response, just call customer service. I did again this morning, I told them I have paid more in interest than the computer was worth, she said there is no one to talk to, just them. I was promised a plan that would be feasable, and not too high. I had originally signed up to purchase a Dimension 4700 from Dell in Sept 2004 with the terms agreed as 2.99% interest intro rate for first 12 months, followed by 6.99% after for a total period of 36 months, 12 at 2.99%, and 24 at 6.99%.

I was to be paying approx $35/month as per the advertisement, but now am paying $88.25 approx per month, over a longer period of time, as they still withdraw the amount every month on auto withdrawl from my account. I am afraid to stop it because it will damage my credit record as it still shows outstanding balance on there. I am frustrated at attempts to stop this billing, and to obtain a statement of the account, and of the original contract, they can not locate any information on my original purchase, and I am afraid to stop payment on this account for fear of messing with my credit rating.

I have suffered overpayments for 1 years, payments of amounts higher then I originally negotiated with phone agent, and I had a computer burst into flames during the first or 2nd year of ownership that required they ship me a new unit, and I almost had a house fire due to it. I am afraid I am being billed for a 2nd product that was sent as a warranty claim because I purchased additional coverage on the first computer, I shouldn't have had to pay for it. They said in their contract they would provide a model that is close to the first if they can not provide the same model. Which they honoured, but I am now afraid they are billing me for it.

She guaranteed us that the account would be settled after this and she gave us a confirmation #.

6 months goes by after this agreement was made over the phone and I get a bill in the mail saying that I am late and charges are added to the amount. Nothing cpmes out of the phone call. 2 years later I get a bill in the mail from a collection ageny and since then I have been receiving bills from the collection agency to pay a debt that I DO NOT OWE.

I thought I was the only one until I did a search on dell finance identification verification and came to this site. I am basically throwing all the money I can at this debt because I want to be done with Dell. Period. I will never again purchase a dell product. From what I can see, dell is choosing to get out of the financing business and instead of contacting their customers and saying... Hey, any loans you have open with us, we want you to pay them off but we are not going to extend anymore credit. Instead we will keep this credit line open and put impossible roadblocks up so you cannot use it.

[Dell has] lost a personal customer and be sure I will never recommend Dell as a business product. We all know times are hard, both for individuals and companies. Still, this is America and in times of trouble we try to pull together and help out. Not stomp each other.

The consequences for me and Dell is that I will not do business with Dell ever again, either as an individual or for any company I work with. This type of deception and pushing back on a consumer is very poor business practice. In some cases, simply being honest would work wonders. If Dell is deciding to not extend anymore credit.. say so. But for a customer service agent (actually several) of a company the size of Dell to actually say.. I cant help you and I dont have a supervisor and thats the end of it.

I have been paying on the account ever since then, about $50 a month. I then noticed that my balance was never going down. I finally decided to look at my statement more closely and realized that my interest rate was 28.99%.

I was shocked because I didn't know interest rates could even go that high. I knew that it was partially my own fault that my balance was not going down, since I was only paying the minimum. However, I was a college student at the time and that was my reason for purchasing the computer in the first place.

Anyways, in an attempt to try to make progress on paying down the date, I decided to call Dell and ask for a lower interest rate. Since I had read that typically if you just ask for it, then it is usually granted. Well I was told that over the course of 3 years, I had been late once, and as a result, I could not be granted a lower interest rate. So now I'm at the point where I feel like I've paid way more than the items I purchased are worth, and I'm still stuck with a huge balance.

My father being a month from 70 years old and already 9 by passes on his heart did not need this effecting his elderly health. Plus the economic effect it had on his perfect credit score before Dell tried to intimidate my him.

I am a single mom of two; in Sept 03, 2004 I purchased a Dell desktop computer and software. Since i am a limited budget I checked Rent to Own etc but after calling Dell directly decided to buy directly from them. They said my payments would run about $37 a month. I bought my computer for my two high school age children (who are now out of high school)

I usually make my minimum payment on line and don't pay attention to my balance but today I called Dell and was in for quite a shock. They said I paid $1103.30 for my computer, $ 99.40 for software totaling $1202.70 but my balance is still $1205.00. I make my payments every month. When I asked the agent how that was possible he said it is because of my interst rate which varies between 29 and 31%.

How is it possible to have paid $1872 so far to Dell and still owe $1205 on a system that I have been paying on for 4 years and only costs $1202.70 plus taxes and shipping. I went with Dell thinking I would get a better deal and I have ended up paying an exorbent amount. I feel I have been taken advantage of. Is there anything I can do? Do they play these games with everyone or am I one of very few

I purchased a laptop computer and financed it through a business account with Dell Financial Services. In July 2008, I decided to pay off the remaining balance and attempted to make a payment on the DFS web site. However, I could not log on which I found out later DFS still had my old phone number and email address which I had changed with them months earlier. I had to make a couple of phone calls to have the information on their web site updated so I could log on and make the final payment. I was not able to log on after a period of 2 3 weeks.

In the meantime, DFS charged me a late fee and began calling me several times a day. The major complaint I have is when I answer the calls from 800-, no one was on the other end of the call. Then search this number on the internet and found out it was Dell and many people were complaining. So I called the DFS number on my statement and paid off the balance on the phone with checking account information.

After I paid off the balance, the 800- number called me again the next day and again no one was one the other end of the call even after I waited for a few minutes. So I hung up and called the number back. The person who answered the call could not find my account. I did not have the account number but I did have all the other information. He recommended I all Customer Service. After an hour later talking to 5 different people and insisting that my account be closed and to have DFS stop calling, my problem was solved. Dell waived the late charge fee and the pay by phone fee.

However, I wasted about 4 hours of my time over a 3 week period. I have purchased Dell computers for many years and as an IT consultant, recommend Dell to my clients. However, after this experience with DFS, I plan to buy my next computer from HP or someone other company.

In 2004 We opened a dell financial business account. They asked for all of my information (SSN and such) as well as my husbands since the business was ours, and also all the information of anyone that was going to be using the account, in this case my sister. we got our computers laptop and a camera and everything seemed fine, we made our payments on time every month, however, a year after the business was going we had to shut our doors, but we continued our payments on time every month. With the economy going bad we ran into some hard times, we spoke with dell several times asking for a lower payment for several months in a row but now one would help us out. at our last payment of $100 in April they had charged off the account to LTD.

Since then Doug P. from LTD has called and harrassed us stating we needed to pay $500 or more payments or he was going to garnish wages. BUT the real quicker is somehow the Dell sales department put my sister (a single mother) down as a guarentor and custodial person, meaning she was the point of contact and this was affecting her credit and they were garnishing HER wages not ours. we explained to him what had happend but he said there was nothing he could do until Dell brought the account back, I called and spoke with seven different people over the past several weeks, Theresa, Edward, Marlyn, Kate, Steve, Kyle, and Taryn.

The first person sent me a change of custodial sheet, which I filed out and faxed back to them, in seven days I recieved an email stating they could not change it because they had charged the account off to their collection agency. So I called back, the other four said that they would have a manager call me regarding this matter, in which NO ONE ever called back. in calling someone today I spoke with two different people when I finally reached Marilyn in the resolution department who then says she had to email the recovery department to see if they would retract the account from collections to change this custodial person on the account. she said she would call as soon as she knew something whithin 24-48 hours. I recieved a call within 5 hours from her stating they would not do a thing and that my sister was the point of contact and SHE is responsible for this account.

When talking to the collection agency Doug P. who is very rude and crude and harrasses us daily both my sister and I he first stated that my sister was just the guarentor of the account, but speaking with Dell two days ago they stated that she was not only the guarentor but also the custodial person on the account. I told them that I have never recieved a bill in her name it always stated the business name then my name under that and then my husbands name. I have never recieved a contract stating that she was the guarentor on the account and the sales person NEVER said that he put her as the guarentor or custodial, he stated that it was in my husband and my name and that my sister was allowed to use the account as well.

    Doug P. told my sister yesterday that he was going to file for a judgement to start garnishing my sisters wages since she is the primary on this account. He threatens her telling her that she had to give dell her finanical and personal information in order for her to be responsible calling her a lier and then turning around and stating that this accoutn was taken out in fraud then if she didnt know about it, he then goes on to tell her that she better talk to her sister (me) and get her story straight. My pour sister can not afford to have her wages garnished. My husband and I and my sister has been harrassed and manipulated and lied to from this company as well as Dell. We have lost time and money and health issues related to the stress this has put on all of us;

With that being said we had to wait for a letter in the mail and were to call once we recived it.To verify who hge was and in this letter had nothing but a statment to call them and verify who he was. They failed to inform us why this was going on and wouldn't even tell us if some one had tried to use his account. In dealing with this same problem they tranferd us to a bank that has NOTHING to do with dell..hung up on my husband SIX times and he was not being rude.

Now we have placed another order for a tv and wall mount for the tv. The wall mount is missing a peice of a part, so I call dell customer support to see if they could kindly and simply just mail us the missing piece. The cust. rep. informed me that the piece I was talking about didn't come with the wall mount do to the fact that the piece wasn't part of the invoice. I don't think every product you buy has a list of every piece to every part, now they do for the parts. She then tells me to mail it back to them as a return, and reorder the same item, I questioned her why they couldn't mail me what was missing, she then tells me that the item is a defected product. I persue why I would reorder a product that was defected. I then told her to put me on with a superviser and she put me on hold for an hour and fifteen minutes then hung up on me. We are currently leasing a computer through Dell's lease program, as we have done with several computers in the past 4 years. In the past year, we receive constant phonecalls from Dell's collections department, usually beginning 2 days after the payment due date. For example: This month, (July), payment by check to Dell of $58.99 went out of our office on 7/16/08, 3 days past the due date. On that date, we received 2 phone calls from some foreign person representing Dell to inquire as to the status of payment. As always, they want a payment by phone with an additional fee attached, which I refuse to do. I give them the check number of the payment sent.

I then receive 2 to 3 phone calls per day from Dell's collection dogs claiming that they do not have my payment. I checked my bank, found out that the check payment in question was paid by my bank on 7/21/08, so Dell received my payment on 7/19/08, and as of 7/28/08 was still making phone calls into my office looking for my payment! This is a regular monthly occurrence with Dell however, this particular month was even worse.

I emailed Dell on 7/25/08 with my complaint and they sent me back some sort of generic response. I contacted Dell to try to return the computer and end my relationship with Dell and they informed me that I may return the computer and pay them the rmaining leas payments totalling $1,128.38. That means that we have paid $2780.10 for this computer. Granted, we acknowledge that we should receive the Sap of the Year reward for ever entering into this type of a business relationship, and we will deal with financial consequences, but we are extremely irate with Dell Financial's collections department.

We have never missed a payment, and we have paid off 4 other lease/ purchases in the past 2 years. Yet, they continually harass us each month, and when we try to speak with a supervisor, we are connected to another person with a foreign accent who is no help whatsoever. We are completely disgusted with Dell, we will never purchase another Dell product, and we would love to get rid of the computer on the lease agreement in question so as to end forever any dealings with Dell and we can't even accomplish that without being yet again victimized by Dell's financial policies.

We fear that we are stuck dealing with the pit bulls from Dell Financial untill the lease is satisfied. We are a small construction business trying to make just a living, not a fortune, and we feel totally taken advantage of by the Corporate giant, Dell. Again, we will NEVER purchase another Dell product, and we will tell everyone we come in contact with to avoid Dell products.

I was never told there was a due date on each payment and that my payments were set up for 2 to3 days late. I foolishly didnt examine the bills carefully until last month when I noticed I had been charged a late fee of $29 each month along with my $65 computer payment. The late payments were added for almost every month, totaling over $200.

I called Dell Financial Services and their partner Check Free to get the late payments removed. After several calls to both parties, Dell removed only 2 of the payments, claiming that I should have read my bills more carefully.

I looked up Dell Financial Services on the web and found (on your web site) they had settled a class action suit in 2006, promising to change their misleading practices. Other web sites have more recent complaints similar to mine.

My 19 year old daughter bought a Dell laptop on a special XPS no interest plan. The first bill called for a minimum payment of $30.00. I set up an automatic payment of $50.00 without reading the fine print on her behalf. Turns out this revolving credit offer was accumulating interest all along and had a payoff date which must be met to avoid paying the accrued interest. However the minimum payment would not payoff the loaned amount in time to avoid the payoff. Mea culpa.

I did not beware the seller because after buying four computers and two axiums and a music player from Dell, I had put them on the friend of the family list. The special offer date expired and my kid was hit with a $500 in interest. I could have avoided this if I was aware of the consequences, but since my payments were being made automatically by my bank, I had no reason to study the monthly paper statements in a timely manner. After all, this was Dell Computers, a trusted member of the family.

Needless to say I must strongly urge everyone tempted to use Dell Financial Services to make sure they understand the terms. DSF will do everything they can to muddy the waters and steer you into a paying their astronomical interest rates.

The $500 I will have to pay is a pittance compared to what I have spent with Dell, and thought I might in the future. My computer needs extend way beyond personal use. I ordered two, double cartridges for my J740 desktop printer. That is two sets each of one, color cartridge and one, black and white cartridge; that way I would be getting a deal on the purchase! I spent $138 total for the two sets. I ordered the cartridges on my business account line of credit (which at that time had an available credit line of over $3,000) and asked that they simply include the invoice with the shipment as I did NOT want to pay interest on the cartridges and would pay the balance in full upon receipt. I received the order within the designated time frame but with no invoice. Assuming the invoice would then be mailed separately, I went on about my business and dismissed the whole thing.

Four months later I received a call from Dell's Collection Department claiming that I owed them the $138 plus four months of past-due-fees. I asked why I had never been invoiced for the charge within the normal 10-30 days of shipment and was told they had sent invoices but that I neglected to pay them. Then I asked what address they had sent the invoices to. They had sent the invoices to my business address from four years ago; yes, I hadn't been at that address for over four years. Now they didn't have any trouble knowing which address to ship the cartridges to, just the invoices. This was due, I was told, to the fact that the billing department was in a different area than the shipping department and thus resulted in the error (their error). I asked them to email me a current invoice for the cost of the cartridges only and told them I was refusing to pay any late charges because it was their error and not mine and that therefore the charges were not valid.

They sent the email. I paid the invoice immediately and in full. Then they kept sending me monthly invoices for the late fees they claimed I still owed and of course adding an additional late fee to the initial late fees each month; still I refused to pay the late fee bill. This went on for four months and then, I learned today (06/11/2008), that they closed my account and decreased my credit line to $0.00 because my account was deliquent for $39.60. They reported the incident to my small business tax ID as a charge-off and ruined my credit for a mere $39 that was their mistake in the first place.

My business tax ID and credit rating have been permanently damaged and now I will have to pay a higher interest rate if and when I do get other business lines of credit. Also, I needed to buy some additional product for my business when I found I had no line of credit available thus putting me in the compromising situation of now having to search for another company to work with, other products to research, etc. All of which are wasting my time and resources.

I purchased a computer for my son. The date I don't recall but it has been years and they keep adding finance charges on it. I pay the minimum. When I called them I get such a run a round or I talk to an unbroken english speaking person whom i cant understand. All i want to know is why the financial charges are being added on. At this rate I will never pay this off.

I just want to pay them off already and get this over with. I am afraid if i dont keep paying it they will put me in collections.

Misquoted overcharged interest rates even thought my credit is excellent. Overpaying due to interest rate disparity.

After buying 7 computers from DELL I was told I would get 6 months same as cash with my latest desktop computer. When the bill arrived, it was due and payable or minimum payments could be made. Several phone calls and emails to DELL resulted in no settlement. I had to either pay in full to avoid finance charges or could make payments. I paid off the computer with a vocal complaint to DELL about the way I, a long time customer, was being treated. No help. I made them close my DELL account and told them I would never buy another DELL computer. The reaction was OK, we've closed your account. DELL had rather lose a customer than lose the opportunity to charge astronomical interest.

I purchased a dell computer 6/7/06 for approximately $1200. At the time the online dell site gave examples of what monthly payments would be for the computer. I purchased the computer and had made sure I could make the monthly payments. Once I began paying on my computer the interest charges were so high that by paying the monthly payment the amount due on the computer almost never changed and some months even though I paid on time the total balance increased.

Because of the high interest I was paying on an account and seeing no change whatsoever. I didn't have the money to pay any higher payments at the time due to my other bills. I spent almost a year doing this before I took out a personal loan from a bank and paid off the Dell Preferred Account because there was no way I would be able to pay it off paying the "monthly payment" they used or told me I could pay when I purchased the computer.

In 2002, I purchased a home computer from Dellfor the amount of $1,200. I specifically explained that I was on a fixed income and my payments must come due on the 3rd of the month. The first month's payment came due on the 25th. I called them to remind them of our agreement. I was assured that the next month I would be billed for the 3rd of month payment.

Each month I was charged interest and late fees. This went on until the balance was up to $1,800. Each time I tried to complain, I was put on hold. When someone did come to the phone, their English was so poor, I could not understand what they were saying. Frustrated, I sent letters to every complaint avenue I could think of. Some may still be posted on the internet.

Finally, I told them I would not pay them until they corrected my bill. They, in turn turned it over to collections. The first collection agency was so rude that I just stopped trying to explain anything to them and stopped accepting their calls. They turned the account over to another company. After much frustration, I finally agreed to a balance of $800. He insisted that this would only be valid if I paid it right away. I went to my bank in Harker Heights and borrowed the money to pay the agreed upon amount, just glad to have it over with.

This agreement provided that I would no longer owe Dell anything. The next month, they again billed me, however the the bank loan department dealt with them and they never billed me again.

It left a mark on my credit which I was so desperately trying to repair.
