I financed a Dell computer in 2006 and have been making payments for the last three years on time and over the minimum payment that is due. The computer was originally purchased at $660 and, now, I have a balance of $1200. The Dell Finance number will not help in seeking a resolution to my problem. I do know that I have paid several times the amount of the computer.

I purchased a laptop from Dell. I received a receipt that said it was $980.00, and I was charged $1,335.00. I had several issues with this and had to have it serviced many times. I paid over $400.00 extra and consequently two years of interest on my credit card.

I bought a hard drive for my computer but we found out that it was no longer needed so we returned the merchandise. Dell was supposed to charge $49.99 for the technical support by phone to install the hard drive thing which never happened. They gave me a credit for the hard drive, but not for the technical support. We tried to contact them several times for the last two months but nobody was able to help us. Today, my account is $81.00 with penalty and late charges, when my balance was supposed to be $0.00. Thanks, Javier.

I financed a computer for $1,500.00. I am ending up paying almost $4,500.00 for the thing. I had to finally let it go to collections because the bill wasn't getting any smaller. I would send them extra thinking I was getting a jump on the next bill, but it didn't happen. I am not able to meet other bills because I want this off my credit. My car note is getting behind so that I can get this behind me.

I want to know why my bill has doubled in such a short time. I draw a disability check. I barely make my bills so there is no way I can afford to pay this. If you don't get all these charges off my account, I am having all my credit cards consolidated into one payment so I can make the payment get back on track again.

I purchased a computer in late 2006. I financed it through Dell Financial. When the first year's worth of payments were made, they put my interest rate up to an astronomical amount. I was in school online, and my previous computer died in the middle of a semester, leaving me no choice but to finance a new one. My husband had also left me after 9 years of marriage for no reason, leaving me with numerous bills to pay, promising assistance, and never living up to that promise. My financial status became difficult to manage, and I contacted my creditors to make arrangements.
I spoke to Dell on numerous occasions, many of which were due to harassing phone calls for bill payment. When I spoke of my situation over a year ago, no offer of any hardship program was given to me, no matter how much I pleaded. I paid my bills but late every month. Even though I kept in touch, they sent me to collections. My account went through several collection agencies. By that time, Dell's lack of understanding with me and my attempts to make payment arrangements ruined my credit. All of my other creditors were able to work with me. I don't know why they are so different.
Finally, after the collections agency began harassing me on a regular basis and many attempts to contact Dell about this, I was able to reach their hardship department with Dell Financial. They apologized profusely about the situation with the credit agency and took my account back with a hardship program. This still doesn't fix the problems with my credit all of this has caused. If they had done this for me a year ago when I told them there was a problem, I wouldn't be in such a horrible situation.
Now, I have a computer that the hard drive has crashed on, and that is less than 3 years old. I purchased it for $1,424.20 and have paid $1,344.75 on the account to date. I owe only $129.45 on the original price of the computer. My account balance, because of Dell Financial's way of doing business and the very high interest rates, is now $2,766.39. Not to mention, this balance is on a computer that is dead! Because I couldn't afford a warranty to extend after the first year, Dell stated they couldn't help me with the crashed hard drive without paying for technical support.
I am having a hard enough time as it is! The fact that the computer is dead is not even an issue for me anymore, as there is nothing I can do about it. The fact that I still owe $2766.39 on a computer that I purchased less than three years ago for $1,474.20 and have already been close to paid as much as the original purchase price makes me absolutely livid!
I need assistance. I don't feel I should pay any more money for this computer other than what is left on the original purchase price. Dell did not work with me when I tried to tell them there were payment problems until it was too late. I also asked them to mail me an itemized statement of my account nearly two weeks ago that they said they were putting in the mail, and it still has not arrived. I have also tried to call Dell Financial numerous times over the past week with very long hold times, resulting in disconnection of my calls. And now this morning, I got to the department I need and I got a message stating "The department you are trying to reach is in a meeting. Please call back in 2 hours!" with no ability to leave anyone a message. This is frustrating, and I can't take any more of it.

Every year, I have bought a Dell computer and paid it off during tax season as I am a CPA. (Past 3 years) I called to purchase a computer in January 2009 and asked to purchase a computer and that I would be paying it off during tax season. I was told no problem; I can pay it off early with no penalties and interest. I have now found out that I was signed up on a 24-month lease to own my computer! Dell is now saying that they charge FMV of the computer at the end of their 24-month lease with purchase price of $400 to own my computer. This is an additional $400 along with monthly finance charges.
I feel I was scammed by the salesperson. I called to resolve this issue to pay the balance I owed on the computer and for them to drop the additional $400 due to false information I was told. I specifically said I wanted to purchase the computer. First of all, I was given false information about my computer purchase. Second of all, who really determines the fair market value of the computer? I asked Dell if they were willing to lose a client over this scam and they were. They would not correct this problem. I am appalled. I am only willing to pay for the balance I agreed upon to pay for my computer.

My experience with Dell has been unbelievably bad. I purchased a computer and paid it off in full. Several months later, I received a bill for $640 and didn't even know what merchandise this was for. I had ordered nothing else! The worst part is that my son and I repeatedly tried calling Dell to straighten this out. Each time, we were on the phone for 10 to 15 minutes being transferred several times explaining our problem each time. Finally, the call was cut off. This happens each time we call. The letters I wrote begging for a response have gone unanswered and ignored.
Then last week, I got a bill from a credit agency stating the account was being turned over to them for collection. I was furious and called the collection agency immediately. They do not know what the bill is for. I explained our luck with phone calls to India to agents who do not speak English in trying to straighten this all out. This is so difficult to deal with and if I could afford it, a lawyer would be the one to contact the credit agency so this phony bill of $650 would not go against my credit. Buying from what I always thought was one of the best companies has been nothing but a nightmare and it isn't over yet. I will never buy one thing from anyone again who is associated with Dell.

Dell's website credited my transaction 2 days after it actually occurred, resulting in late fees. When trying to resolve the issue with Dell Financial Services, I was given the run-around and told to make a payment over the phone to stop the late fee. This would result in a double payment, but it would save me the $9 fee. When asked to speak to a manager, the operator put me on hold for over a half hour before she returned and told me to call back in 15 minutes. I did as she asked and placed another call only to get an operator to hang up on me after pulling my information. My husband then called and would receive the same treatment.

I purchased a Dell desktop computer in January and then a laptop in February, using the Dell Financial Services credit card. I was talked into that as I would qualify for some added coupons and bonuses. I then paid off the desktop but after just a week, the keys on my laptop started coming off. I notified Dell and followed their return policy within their time limit.
I then purchased a Sony laptop paying cash. There were some extra charges on my account that were finally credited back to me after a month of hassles and phone disconnections from their international customer service (India). I started receiving monthly charges from Dell's credit card protection services. I had no idea that I had a credit card protection account. After many frustrating calls, they finally canceled my protection plan account but refused to credit back the previous late fees and monthly charges on a balance that was finally credited back to me by Dell.

I confirmed with Dell Finance that they would take the money out at the end of the 0% period. Whoops, apparently no such conversation took place so "we put you on a high interest repayment." They replaced faulty key board with different color as they didn't have the appropriate color in stock. Battery died just after warranty ran out. I contacted them, "tough luck." Charger unit failed just after the warranty ran out, contacted them, "tough luck." The Video card has failed now, just contacted them; LOL, "tough luck." I still owe $1000 due to Dell Finance having a laugh at my expense. I now have the most expensive foot stool I've ever owned.
I regularly update my 2 household laptops every 2-3 years. What a good customer they have lost. Just purchased my wife a Sony, I hope their laptops are okay and I hope I get a service that makes me want to stay with them. I am just frustrated with the lack of correspondence, also the feeling that I was intentionally misled and the fact that I so wanted to buy their Alienware Laptop next but alas, we live and learn.

I have excellent credit, have a Dell Preferred account, and over the past 20 years have purchased at least 10 computer systems from Dell. Needless to say, there has always been some problem with the order that takes forever to get straight. Last January, I ordered a printer, some extra ink cartridges and photo paper from Dell. The printer came but not the ink cartridges or paper. They were on backorder. Dell contacted me 4 times by e-mail, asking if I still wanted the order and each time I said yes.
Eventually they just cancelled the order without notifying me. They have been sending me invoices for the amount due for the past 6 months. I have contacted them (by phone and e-mail) at least 10 times to explain that I never got the order. The Financial Services people say they can't do anything - I need to call customer service. The Customer Service people say they can't do anything - I need to call Financial Services. Needless to say, I have paid and now they have filed a claim with a credit bureau (for $26). I have all the records and have to explain to them each time what's going on because they don't have a clue. I'm not paying for their mistake. Next step for me is the Better Business Bureau and a lawyer. I now believe that incompetency is the foundation of Dell's business model. I can't believe they can afford to lose customers like me with such poor performance on their part.

I had purchased my computer from Dell. But I now have to deal with Dell Financial Services which has the highest interest rate I have ever seen on any of my credit cards. They attach a $39 late fee monthly and will continuously raise your credit limit so you will get deeper and deeper into debt with them. If you are late, you receive a call from someone located in India and not in the U.S. and it is impossible to deal with. I purchased my computer in 2003 and it cost me a little over $1200. Well, now according to them I owe over $2000 and have paid monthly at least $25 over the monthly payment.
I looked into it and that was when I noticed they had raised my interest rate from 24% to $29% and I also noticed the attached late fees when payments were not late. Each time I ask to speak to someone from billing, they don't deal with that and it's always a different department. They give me a number to call and lo and behold, I can never get a live voice. All I get is an automated line stating press 1 for account balance, etc. I have attempted to press "0" for a live person, but it will never connect. Heed my warning, everyone: never buy anything from Dell.

In April 2009, I ordered a new desktop; it arrived and I hooked it up - works great. Well, a week or two later, another desktop arrived. I talked to Dell and they said I have to return Computer # 1 (now running happily in my office). I jumped up and down, screamed and they agreed to accept # 2 back. I got my bill, which is for 2 computers. I paid over half of the bill and wait for the credit to catch up. It is now July 9, 2009. I have made numerous calls to Dell to straighten this out. I have actually overpaid Dell and should be receiving a $150 credit. I thought I had it fixed in mid June.
I have been receiving collection calls from Dell, sometimes 6 times a day. I just talked with Dell and it is not their department... that they can only see the purchase in April and that I am overdue, and why am I not paying them, they asked. After 10 minutes, the phone disconnected and they didn't even return my call. They have all contact info for me. I have had all the fun I can stand here. Although I like the computer, I doubt I will ever deal with Dell again.

I ordered a Dell Laptop computer, based in part on your recommended lists. Dell Financial Services takes on the billing. I think this is a rip off, as they make more money from periodic charges than from the sale itself. No reason they should bill me from DFS instead of Dell itself. Sure enough, on a phone call, they talked about monthly charges, etc. I objected and insisted I would not pay for anything beyond the cost of the computer. I got some static about this. They would allow only one payment at a time, leaving them the possibility of dinging me with monthly extra charges.
I wish you would indicate this in your reports. I have been a CU member since about 1938 or so.

I have had a Dell Preferred card for 2-1/2 years. Over that time, I have never missed a payment, have almost always paid much more than the minimum, and they have raised my limit several times. Today, I received a letter informing me that they had closed my account due to delinquencies to Dell in the last 13 months, too many credit inquiries, and too many accounts opened in the last 24 months. I have never been late on a payment to Dell! I have opened two other accounts in the last two years, hardly "too many". As for too many credit inquiries, how many is too many? They stated that this was also based on my credit report. When they issued my card 2-1/2 years ago, I was in the middle of a bankruptcy and they didn't have a problem with my credit rating then! I got the card to begin with to help reestablish my credit, and have maintained a perfect payment history since then on all my accounts.

I purchased a Dell computer system under a 9-month 0% interest plan. I received my second bill and noticed interest being charged. I called Dell who told me that the system I bought was not eligible for the 0% financing despite being told during the time of purchase it was. This is the classic bait and switch financing and dishonesty Dell has been famous for. In 2003, I purchased a Dell system and fell victim to this at the time too. After going ballistic on the customer service rep, she put in a request to categorize my system under the 0% financing. I'm expecting all finance charges to be credited and not to be charged interest for the next 7 months. I'm filing a complaint because this is bait and switch Dell financing practice that is supposed to stop. I read that Dell was fined $3.3 million last year because of this type of dishonest practice.

I asked what about the difference in the drives, she said nothing. My wife has been out of work for four months. We paid all of our bills on time but one, because of the rotating due dates (illegal) I ask you. So we put our credit cards on hold. Sure our credit hurt a bit, but I continued to pay Dell. Now they close it. Well ** them too. We paid for them for seven months. My credit limit was $3500 and my current balance is $998.26. Good luck, Dell.

Dell Financial Services conned me into getting a so-called $0 APR financing deal for 2 years but started leaving interest after 1 1/2 years. They helped me set up my online automatic payments over phone, for a period of 2 years so that by the end of the term, the laptop (which incidentally cost only $750) will be completely paid off.
Meanwhile, I changed my address and updated my address with them (which they never did - so I stopped getting any more statements from them- see below for their promptness in updating info) Suddenly, I think almost after 3 years, I got a call from a collection agency saying that I owe DFS over $200. Only then I found out what had happened to my account, the amount they had told me over the phone was falling short of the total value of the laptop by something like $55 or $60. I paid a portion of the remaining amount which was left over for the laptop (the Dell guys do amazing Math). Additionally, the time was not 2 years as they had told me and calculated the monthly payments for -- it was 1 1/2 years and so interest and penalties were levied at that time totaling over $200.
After calling and spending more than 3 hours on the phone, I got one decent guy from DFS who was willing to look into the problem. Brad gave me his personal extension number and told me he will get back to me after reviewing the old documents since there was clearly an error somewhere. By this time I had changed my address with DFS 3 times and still Brad told me they were sending the details to my older address - he finally managed to change the address at this time. Unfortunately, when I tried to contact Brad at his extension again, after some time had elapsed (and I got no call), the name in the voice mail went to someone else. I left a message - but no response.
At this point I called some more to try get some info and finally gave up, since I wasn't getting any call back/info from them. Now I get a call from another collection agency/attorneys saying that I owe them $575 for breach of contract, etc., and willing to settle for $475. I am outraged by their attitude and ethics. This guy from the collection agency/attorney said it was probably their fault and was willing to reduce $100 and settle for $475 instead. I have no idea why I should pay for the collective mistakes of DFS. First, their employee set up a wrong monthly payment for me and they never updated my address even after repeatedly calling them so I never got any idea of my account till last January.
They refused to stop escalating charges/get back with any reasonable information about what was going on to resolve the issue. Whenever I talked to them, they kept saying that I owe that money and I have to pay it! I even offered to buy a new laptop from them that will cover the money I owe them (I do like their hardware, unfortunately). There is nil after-service, or customer service after getting the money. I pay monthly bills larger than the laptop and I find it outrageous that I should pay them for their mistake. I now know how this country is in such deep problems - thanks to unethical business practices aimed at making money through devious means.
If someone from Dell was/is willing to listen to the customer and do something about it, this could have been avoided and they might not have lost not just one customer. But I am going to petition my friends and former corporate (university) employer to stop buying from Dell. Incidentally, I was instrumental in getting them to get computers from Dell for the past 6 years I was with them. Their business ethics are extremely devious and fraudulent.

I received the computer on the 14th of May, coming to find out that there was some major problems with the software within their system, even when knowing when the quad processor is much faster than the dual core processor. Being visually impaired, it was difficult for me to do the task for trying to resolve the issue with the unit. In trying to resolve the matter with the company, I was trying to make them understand that I was visually impaired, it was like talking to a brick wall and this unit was still under manufacture warranty. The company waited until the 21 days expired, and still knowing that I don't have a working unit, which is just still sitting in the living room.
In having a conversation with many of the folks, who, for some reason, don't know what they are talking about. I was still receiving the run-around with the company. Finally giving up after 6-8-09 and knowing that the company would still give me the run-around with the unit. Forking out $1400 for the unit and it is still not working. And have wanted to return the unit back to Dell for a replacement or the charges taken off the account. Right now, I'm at a loss as what to do at this time. Here are the following express codes, as the many times that I have dealt with these folks at Dell.
It is in my understanding that the company uses refurbished parts, which is the most of the cause with many of their defected products, and with the many unqualified person who are underpaid, with no training when it comes with computers or any other products that is made or supposed to be made. I would consider this action of theirs as a violation and a breach of their contract with their customers.
The computer has slow processor, a broken GGA/HDMI adapter, a damaged mother board, still not replace and other damages. When the unit starts to boot, it makes a 5-second high pitch noise.

I have made some mistakes over the years, as new parents we accumulated some large bills and we got behind. We started out $33,000 in debt about 2 1/2 years ago. We looked for help and came across a company called Money Management International, who we have paid a set fee (lower interest rates) for 2 1/2 years and have lowered our debt to about $18,000. Dell financial was the only company not willing to help out and join the plan.
Since this has occurred, my wife has been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and we know have mounting medical bills. We have a car payment. All in all I will be debt free from the car and all the other credit card bills in about 2 more years at the current plan. Dell however, has turned a $1491.46 computer purchase on 02-12-07 into $2476.95. So, after 3 years I still owed them $1,000 more than the initial purchase amount. I need help badly! Is there anything I can do to stop them? I talked to them on 6/21 and after 3 years the best I can get them to do is lower the interest for 6 months to 9.9 %. But all this will do is enable me to lower the amount by around $250.00, after which the interest will again go up to the 22% it's at now and the same problem is likely to occur?
Please help, it's killing me. I believe I have already paid the worth of the computer back to them. I don't have all that info right now but I'm working on putting that together as well. Please help! I want to be contacted by an attorney! Please help!

Well, I decided to get a new computer for personal use. We had already bought a desktop from Dell in the past and figured it wouldn't hurt to have two computers. So my husband and I ordered another from Dell. I told the lady I talked to from a foreign country, I am sure, what I wanted to do with the computer. She said, "sure, no problem" and told me the computer I'll receive will be perfect. Well it arrived and I quickly found that I couldn't do anything with it, like gaming, because the operating system was wrong. So after about a week of me calling them (Dell), they told me I would have to send it back and they would send me another one.
Well when it arrived, it was a totally different computer altogether but it has worked good for now! That was not the end of screw ups. It had been about a month and I noticed that 2 payments were coming out of my account for two different computers, so I tried getting answers from both Dell and Dell Financial. They both kept pointing the finger at each other so for about 6 months, I was forced to pay for a computer I no longer had. I finally had to stop all payments to get the right answers, which it did! Instead of getting all my money back for the other computer, they took it off the principal of the computer I had and told me that this would not affect my credit, which was flawless. I have been a Dell customer since June 05. In June of 2008, I made a purchase for a laptop and charged it on the Dell preferred card. During the purchase, I asked the sales rep to update my address and phone number since I had moved. I specifically told him that from now on I want all correspondence sent to me via this new info. The sales rep told me all my info had been updated. He also told me that my monthly payment was $15/month. I actually paid $1040 by December and I checked the balance on my Dell card when it was zero. I therefore stopped paying.
In June 2009, I checked my annual credit report and so that I was$ 22 behind my payments at Dell. Immediately, I sent the payment via bill pay. I then called Dell to find out why I was never advised of the late payment. This is where my nightmare begun. The sales rep did not update my info as requested and Dell still had my old info. I then told them that I had moved. I told Dell that I had sent the payment even though they did not contact me as required by law and all I wanted was for them to remove that late payment from my credit report. They refused and said that it was not their job to contact me nor update my info.
Dell is ridiculous. When you call, they take you through all these prompts. I got hanged up on 3 times by the reps in India. And after holding for one hour when I requested to speak to a manager, this rep by the name of Priya told me that none was available and hanged up on me. I never received any account information or account number confirmation from DFS and so I called several times to inquire about this and when my first payment would be due. I was consistently told that it could take up to 8 weeks to get my first statement.
When I recently (6/12/09) purchased an accessory from Dell, I was asked if I wanted to place it on my DFS account. Before I agreed, I asked the sales agent why I had not yet received a statement as yet. She again assured me that it could take a while. She asked me for my DFS account number so she could check my credit in my DFS account in order to charge the new purchase to the account. I told her I did not have a DFS account number as yet, and again repeated that I had not received any correspondence from DFS. "Not to worry," I was told it should arrive any day now. So in order to access my account, she needed my full Social Security Number and my mother's maiden name.
I reluctantly obliged (not wanting to give my whole SS number over the phone to a sales agent), but I also wanted information on my DFS account. The agent told me that giving that information was the only way they could access the account to give me that information and place the new charges on my account. She placed the new charges on my account and again told me that a statement should arrive soon. I was told nothing about late charges, but was told the accurate amount that my charges were--and only the charges. Unknown to me, there were also late fees and finance charges already accrued.
The very next day (a Saturday), I received an automated call informing me I was overdue on my DFS account and that I owed $67.14 in overdue fees and finance charges. This was my first notice of this and my very first communication of any kind from Dell Financial Services. I have disputed these charges and paid off my full balance for the purchases only (less the finance and late fee charges). I am awaiting resolution form DFS. I still have not received any monthly statements from DFS and was told I should check with my post office about missing mail.
I responded that it would be an incredible coincidence, with all the hundreds of pieces of official mail and bills each month that my husband and I have successfully received in the last 2 months via the US Postal Service for the 3 businesses we own and manage (we do not have online billing for our credit accounts), that the all 3 pieces of correspondence DFS says they send (a welcome package with my account information and 2 monthly bills) were the only bills the US Postal Service supposedly did not deliver. I am very eager to close my DFS account, but must wait for the resolution of these charges. I have no idea what this has done to my credit score as I have already been sent to collections by DFS. I do not know what effect closing this account will have on my credit score, but from what I have learned from others on the web, DFS does not resolve these issues easily. But I will take my consequences and close my DFS account ASAP.

I bought two Dell computers between 2005 and 2006. I have paid twice over and my bill still goes out. I have talked to them. They said I was late on my payments and wasn't making the highest payment so my bill kept going up. I know that they are being dishonest and I feel like there is nothing that I can do.
I am beginning to feel that I will be paying for these stupid computers forever. I don't know where to turn. Someone please help. After 3 or 4 years, I am still making payments. I am making 100 dollar payments and it really doesn't appear to be going down. I will never go through this company again for anything.

I bought a Vizio HDTV and the extra warranty plan from them. In May, we had a storm here and afterwards the TV would not play again. When I called, I was told I would have to get in touch with Vizio. When I questioned them about the extra warranty, I was told it was not in effect until December. I then asked if I could just cancel it at which time I was told no, I needed to have done that within 30 days. I now have a 32-inch HDTV that is not working and neither Dell nor Vizio will take responsibility for it. I would like to know if anything can be done about this type of scam.

I am being harassed for 1 and a half years to pay for a repair that never took place. I called Dell when my laptop expired, and was told I need a motherboard, and had to return the laptop. I set up for an RMA. I was giving my SSN for a credit account, to cover the charge for convenience, and "nothing will happen", unless I approve the account using the coming material in the mail.
By the time the repair info and credit account material arrived, I had already bought a replacement laptop on eBay, which I am still using now. The broken laptop (8500) still sits on my shelf in the garage. So, I shredded the Dell information, and forgot about it. Two months later, I get dunning messages from Dell to pay $498. I called Dell many times, trying to straighten it out, and only got runaround.
Then the calls started coming, averaging 6 calls per day, for a year. I bought a phone line logger, and recorded many of them. One of the recordings was from Michael ** from Dell Financial Services, who agreed that I had a case, and they will close me out and not bother me, but the corporate office kept on hitting me with other bill collectors to this day, and my credit rating is tarnished by this one and only negative report on it. They are saying I now owe them $782.93.
Since I refused to pay even a token payment (because to make such a payment, in my words to him, was tantamount to agreeing that I owed the money). I was not economically damaged, except for the 3 phone recording devices that I bought. My real damage is personal stress, sleepless nights, and work time lost over this deal. Also, my perfect credit rating was damaged.

My issue is with the charge to my daughters Dell Preferred Financial Account for the data recovery service Dell sold my daughter on March 18, 2009 and subsequent late fees. When offered the service, she was given a "guarantee" that her data would be recovered, no conditions or exclusions were given. However, after purchasing the service, the error message that was given to the Dell Service representative by my daughter when trying to run the utility sent her indicated a corrupt file and the representative stated there was nothing that could be done to recover the data and that the operating system would have to be restored. Not wanting to do that, my daughter took the computer back to college with here where a friend was able to get the system booted to the point where her data files could be recovered. After doing so, he then restored the operating system herself and now all is well. I then requested a refund to her Dell credit card for the full amount minus the shipping charges for the utility they shipped her. I thought that was a fair charge. Since then I have been told multiple times that the account would be credited to but no avail. I was given two case numbers. On April 1, I was told the account was credited the purchase amount on March 28, but would take 3-5 business days to appear on the account. On April 2, 2009, a new statement arrived showing the original amount. I called Dell again and was told by the support group that they had authorized the credit only. Dell Financial could actually issue the credit. Since then, I have called the following numbers multiple times: 866-497-2661, 877-577-3355, 800-283-2210, 800-624-9896, 800-624-9897, 888-236-3355. I have spoken to a Gary **, Satish, Neil **, Ben, Margarita, Shaw, Angel and a few I could not understand.
On June 3, 2009, when calling 888-257-6372, I spoke with a Patrick who told me there was no record of the March 28 credit, but he was finally able to give me an Internet Confirmation Number authorizing the credit for the original amount of $129.00 as of June 3, but could do nothing about the subsequent late and finance charges and directed me to Dell Financial. I have also had multiple email correspondences to Customer Resolution with a Saranya, Senior Support Resolver from Dell Resolution Expert Team and Anton, also a Senior Support Resolver from Dell Resolution Expert Team with limited or no success. Finally, my daughter was able to get the finance charge and late fee for one month credited, but was duped into paying the June 2 charges with another credit card. We have been dealing with this issue far too long. It is a disgrace!

In 2006, I started to experience financial hardship so I obtained the services of ACCC in order to insure my Dell as well as other creditors would be paid. I had ACCC pay Dell each month based upon my monthly statement that I received from Dell. I thought the due dates were the same each month. I have constantly paid Dell each month thinking Dell was paid on time. Recently, I was contacted by ACCC to inform me that they could not get Dell to give them a pay off amount for this account. I then called the Dell customer service to try and find out why, and that's when I realized that I, along with my monthly payments to Dell from ACCC, had paid Dell a lot more than what was owed on my account in December of 2006.
When I asked the Dell customer service why, I was informed that my account had been paid late from 2006 to date, only being paid on time when I made an additional payment to Dell separate from my ACCC payment. Despite my efforts to make sure you were paid, I have been charged an abundant amount for late fees, which in turn has caused my account balance to be more than what it was in 2006. I have paid my Dell account each month on time by the statement I had in December of 2006. My payment was dispersed to Dell from ACCC in check form the third day of each month by ACCC and credited to my Dell account on the 10th or 11th day of each month. I never knew the billing cycle of Dell, therefore I could have never known the correct due dates. Even if I had known, I could not change the dates that the money would be theirs to pay Dell. I am requesting that Dell remove all late fees and finance charges from my account from December 2006 to date. I could understand if my payments for the past two years were more than a month, but this was only days and I had never missed a payment.

One of the main reasons I purchased it was because I figured I could have it paid off pretty soon since there was no finance charge. Since January 2007 I set up a loan to purchase a $1200 computer from Dell. They promised one year with no interest. I, being a new person to deals like this, didn't pay the loan off in time and incurred the full year's interest after the one year was up. Since then, I've been hit with Billed Finance Charges for every month I've had a balance on the loan. Due to my limited income I can only pay the minimum payment, and in so doing the interest eats up the majority of the payment. I get the charge which has steadily increased my loan to over $1500. I have since paid a total of $1800 to Dell and my loan balance isn't decreasing. It wasn't until just recently that I found out from Dell that the only way to avoid the finance charges is to pay the loan in full, which is not clearly marked on their monthly statements and it takes a basic interrogation through email to get them to tell you.

In September 2007, we purchased a Dell laptop with 12 mo. free financing. I paid on the computer each month and when it was ready to expire in 9/08, I received a letter stating that I owed interest from the very first of the contract. On September 19, I submitted a letter stating that I was willing to pay the balance of $1601.65 in full but not the interest. I was not advised over the phone of any such arrangement and I did not get a contract stating that the interest would be charged like this. I did not want to jeopardize my credit and wanted to make this debt clear.
Dell would not work with me anyway and continued to add interest from that time on. I felt I was fair to pay the balance in the same month that it had expired, but they would not agree. They sent the account to collections and I was harassed on a daily basis but no kind of agreement could be reached. I advised them that if they went to my credit report with this balance, I would not pay anymore. They did do this. I advised them that I would return the computer to them and they did not want that. Since this time, the computer has not worked and I cannot seem to get anyone who can repair it. I was told that we had at least a two-year warranty on the computer and it still won't work.

I've had Dell Bussiness Account since more than 3 years. I've ordered about 5 items from Dell where 3 of them arrived with one problem, but after a call I got the issue resolved whether it was to send back the item or to wait until a tech went to fix it. I've been making on time all my monthly payments. Today, I tried to order a camera over the phone. They took my order and at the end they told me that I needed to call the financial department to confirm with them my order (first time this happens). They gave me the phone number and the order number so I could confirm it.
I called the number they gave me, and an automatic service asked me to enter my Customer No ID. So I did, and I was told (for 3 times) that they couldn't find it. So they put me with a live person. I gave them all the information (name, name of business, address, account no., telephone no, etc). I told them that I was required to confirm a purchase I just made and gave them the order number. They put me on hold for a period of 10 mins, and after that, the person came back and told me, in resume, that she was sorry but my account was on hold for verification purposes and that she could transfer to customer service so I can make other payments arrangements to buy the camera and that at the moment she couldn't give me any more information.
I insisted and asked her why if I made all my payments on time, etc. But I couldn't get an answer. I checked my e-mail and I even received a confirmation for my order, but when I logged into my account, there was no pending order. So I went and placed the order online and everything went through. I received the acknowledge e-mail and the confirmation e-mail, but that was it.
Then I logged into the Dell financial website and saw a red rectangle saying that my account was blocked. I cannot even check my invoices, my payments, nothing! Imade another call to try to get more information, and they put me through 6 different departments and couldn't get any information. I believe I have the right to know the reason why my account has been blocked, since when and when it will be unblocked.

Even though I made regular payments, I was still charged a $39 to $40 late fee every month because they kept changing the due date. By 2008, I still was paying for the machine. My balance was around $900. They intentionally changed the date every month so I would be late. I still have the bills and they still change the date. When I pay early, they still charge me if the payment isn't exactly around the date it is due. My balance stayed around $900 all throughout 2008. Before I lost my job, I got my payment down by giving them $700. My balance was at $575. I was so happy.
Then I lost my job and I got into a credit counseling agency so I could consolidate my debts. Suddenly, I received a bill from Dell for $900! They told me they don't recognize consolidation programs and that the amount they were paying was always late! Totally ridiculous. Needless to say, I now owe more money than when I got into the program. My credit is destroyed. Wall Street and politicians are blaming the American people for America's credit status, but it is these greedy financial institutions robbing us blind! I don't know what to do. I will probably end up going bankrupt along with everyone else I know.

The bank account was closed, but due to a glitch in a system the bank kept sending checks to Dell and even though there was no balance Dell kept cashing the checks but the account was closed and had no funds so checks would bounce and Dell would charge me bouncing fees. I called Dell and explained the situation and was told by the supervisor it would be taken care of.
They call me 8 times a day and hang up. When I call them back to discuss the account, the minute they hear the account number they hang up. Now it's just plain harassment. They call me at all times day and night. Now they want to charge me late fees and referred the account to a collection agency. I am being charged $76.00 for something that's not my fault. But after three years of payments, never even being so much as late, you would think they could lower it. They did over a year or more ago to 27%. Wow, I have even written certified letters which they have signed for. This months statement said make bigger payments, or pay it off for better interest. I have sent so many emails, it's unreal, and get the same response, just call customer service. I did again this morning, I told them I have paid more in interest than the computer was worth, she said there is no one to talk to, just them. I told her give me a supervision, she said would get same response. Isn't there somebody, somewhere in this company? I just think it is terrible you can't even talk to someone.

I have been trying to obtain a statement of my account for over 2 years on payment of a desktop computer from Dell Financial Services. I was promised a plan that would be feasable, and not too high. I had originally signed up to purchase a Dimension 4700 from Dell in Sept 2004 with the terms agreed as 2.99% interest intro rate for first 12 months, followed by 6.99% after for a total period of 36 months, 12 at 2.99%, and 24 at 6.99%.
I was to be paying approx $35/month as per the advertisement, but now am paying $88.25 approx per month, over a longer period of time, as they still withdraw the amount every month on auto withdrawl from my account. I am afraid to stop it because it will damage my credit record as it still shows outstanding balance on there. I am frustrated at attempts to stop this billing, and to obtain a statement of the account, and of the original contract, they can not locate any information on my original purchase, and I am afraid to stop payment on this account for fear of messing with my credit rating.
I have suffered overpayments for 1 years, payments of amounts higher then I originally negotiated with phone agent, and I had a computer burst into flames during the first or 2nd year of ownership that required they ship me a new unit, and I almost had a house fire due to it. I am afraid I am being billed for a 2nd product that was sent as a warranty claim because I purchased additional coverage on the first computer, I shouldn't have had to pay for it. They said in their contract they would provide a model that is close to the first if they can not provide the same model. Which they honoured, but I am now afraid they are billing me for it.

She guaranteed us that the account would be settled after this and she gave us a confirmation #.

When I try to contact dell I am passed around on the phone to various people and I have to give my story more times than I need to. My credit sccore has been destroyed as a result of Dell Financials inability to put the customer first and follow through on promises.

This has been ongoing pain and agony in my life and to those in my family as well. It has been over 5 years since I had purchased that computer and sent it back. Dell Computer has and continues to harass me on the telephone and through their credit agents. Dell filed a frivolous lawsuit against me in NJ Superior Court, causing me to file an Answer and to travel to Newark, NJ for a hearing, at which Dell then failed to appear. The judge dismissed the case WITHOUT PREJUDICE, and my expenses could not be recovered. Yet, Dell continues the telephone harassment to extort monies which I do not owe to them.

I see from other posts that Dell Finance has this lock on the financing they are doing. I thought I was the only one until I did a search on dell finance identification verification and came to this site. I am basically throwing all the money I can at this debt because I want to be done with Dell. Period. I will never again purchase a dell product. From what I can see, dell is choosing to get out of the financing business and instead of contacting their customers and saying... Hey, any loans you have open with us, we want you to pay them off but we are not going to extend anymore credit. Instead we will keep this credit line open and put impossible roadblocks up so you cannot use it.
[Dell has] lost a personal customer and be sure I will never recommend Dell as a business product. We all know times are hard, both for individuals and companies. Still, this is America and in times of trouble we try to pull together and help out. Not stomp each other.
The consequences for me and Dell is that I will not do business with Dell ever again, either as an individual or for any company I work with. This type of deception and pushing back on a consumer is very poor business practice. In some cases, simply being honest would work wonders. If Dell is deciding to not extend anymore credit.. say so. But for a customer service agent (actually several) of a company the size of Dell to actually say.. I cant help you and I dont have a supervisor and thats the end of it.

So over 3 years ago I purchased a computer from Dell by applying for their Dell Preferred Account. I later also purchased a digital camera on the account. I have been paying on the account ever since then, about $50 a month. I then noticed that my balance was never going down. I finally decided to look at my statement more closely and realized that my interest rate was 28.99%.
I was shocked because I didn't know interest rates could even go that high. I knew that it was partially my own fault that my balance was not going down, since I was only paying the minimum. However, I was a college student at the time and that was my reason for purchasing the computer in the first place.
Anyways, in an attempt to try to make progress on paying down the date, I decided to call Dell and ask for a lower interest rate. Since I had read that typically if you just ask for it, then it is usually granted. Well I was told that over the course of 3 years, I had been late once, and as a result, I could not be granted a lower interest rate. So now I'm at the point where I feel like I've paid way more than the items I purchased are worth, and I'm still stuck with a huge balance.

If I am to pay this fee, the original purchase of $1,600 will have ended up costing me over $5,000. This is just not right. When I try to purchase a laptop I find out that my account is on hold for Identity Theft verification. I agree to the procedures and they told me that they can not continue at the moment, and they will send a letter to me to complete the verification within 30days. I said ok.
This has happend twice already and I have waited for them to send me a letter, the second time around I clearly told them I have moved to the new address and to make sure they send the letter of verification to the new address. All they said was whatever address is on file is the one that it's being sent to...
SO today 8-21-08. I call again, after waiting another 30days for this letter. And the Lady I spoke to gave me asked me for my SSN# and such, then read to me some robotic message about we cannot verify your account and we cannot provide any other information. When I explained my situation and asked her what can I do, speak to the president? Who is it that I can talk to to fix my own identity being verified...all I got was the silent treatment, and We cannot provide any other information.
I cannot even close the account.

My father can barely work a calculator more or less a top of the line desktop computer. When my father called them back to tell them he did not purchase a computer they told him he had and that if he did not setup a payment plan they would effect his credit.
When my father asked them who bought the computer and where was it sent the representative for Dell told him it was none of his business. One thing they did ask was what his mothers maiden name was. When he answered the operator responded by telling him No that is not your mothers maiden name. Then she hung up.
After pulling up a credit report about 4 months ago on my father he realized they had effected his perfect credit rating. Without knowing who bought it or where it was shipped. Next my father contacted a lawyer who started the process my father just went through. When the lawyer asked Dell for their legal department he was flat denied. The lawyer then sent a letter to Dell stating that if they did not give us the information we had requested we will start the litigation process immediatly. A copy of the letter and a sworn affidavid with my grandmothers maiden name in it was also fowarded to the Texas Attorney Generals office. Two days later Dell sent my father a letter saying they were going to drop all the amount that he owed. LOL that he owed...
As a result he is in the process of suing Dell for the attack on his credit and the stress it induced. My father being a month from 70 years old and already 9 by passes on his heart did not need this effecting his elderly health. Plus the economic effect it had on his perfect credit score before Dell tried to intimidate my him.

Since i am a limited budget I checked Rent to Own etc but after calling Dell directly decided to buy directly from them. They said my payments would run about $37 a month. I bought my computer for my two high school age children (who are now out of high school)
I usually make my minimum payment on line and don't pay attention to my balance but today I called Dell and was in for quite a shock. They said I paid $1103.30 for my computer, $ 99.40 for software totaling $1202.70 but my balance is still $1205.00. I make my payments every month. When I asked the agent how that was possible he said it is because of my interst rate which varies between 29 and 31%.
How is it possible to have paid $1872 so far to Dell and still owe $1205 on a system that I have been paying on for 4 years and only costs $1202.70 plus taxes and shipping. I went with Dell thinking I would get a better deal and I have ended up paying an exorbent amount. I feel I have been taken advantage of. Is there anything I can do? Do they play these games with everyone or am I one of very few

I purchased a laptop computer and financed it through a business account with Dell Financial Services. In July 2008, I decided to pay off the remaining balance and attempted to make a payment on the DFS web site. However, I could not log on which I found out later DFS still had my old phone number and email address which I had changed with them months earlier. I had to make a couple of phone calls to have the information on their web site updated so I could log on and make the final payment. I was not able to log on after a period of 2 3 weeks.
In the meantime, DFS charged me a late fee and began calling me several times a day. The major complaint I have is when I answer the calls from 800-, no one was on the other end of the call. Then search this number on the internet and found out it was Dell and many people were complaining. So I called the DFS number on my statement and paid off the balance on the phone with checking account information.
After I paid off the balance, the 800- number called me again the next day and again no one was one the other end of the call even after I waited for a few minutes. So I hung up and called the number back. The person who answered the call could not find my account. I did not have the account number but I did have all the other information. He recommended I all Customer Service. After an hour later talking to 5 different people and insisting that my account be closed and to have DFS stop calling, my problem was solved. Dell waived the late charge fee and the pay by phone fee.
However, I wasted about 4 hours of my time over a 3 week period. I have purchased Dell computers for many years and as an IT consultant, recommend Dell to my clients. However, after this experience with DFS, I plan to buy my next computer from HP or someone other company.

In 2004 We opened a dell financial business account. They asked for all of my information (SSN and such) as well as my husbands since the business was ours, and also all the information of anyone that was going to be using the account, in this case my sister. we got our computers laptop and a camera and everything seemed fine, we made our payments on time every month, however, a year after the business was going we had to shut our doors, but we continued our payments on time every month. With the economy going bad we ran into some hard times, we spoke with dell several times asking for a lower payment for several months in a row but now one would help us out. at our last payment of $100 in April they had charged off the account to LTD.
Since then Doug P. from LTD has called and harrassed us stating we needed to pay $500 or more payments or he was going to garnish wages. BUT the real quicker is somehow the Dell sales department put my sister (a single mother) down as a guarentor and custodial person, meaning she was the point of contact and this was affecting her credit and they were garnishing HER wages not ours. we explained to him what had happend but he said there was nothing he could do until Dell brought the account back, I called and spoke with seven different people over the past several weeks, Theresa, Edward, Marlyn, Kate, Steve, Kyle, and Taryn.
The first person sent me a change of custodial sheet, which I filed out and faxed back to them, in seven days I recieved an email stating they could not change it because they had charged the account off to their collection agency. So I called back, the other four said that they would have a manager call me regarding this matter, in which NO ONE ever called back. in calling someone today I spoke with two different people when I finally reached Marilyn in the resolution department who then says she had to email the recovery department to see if they would retract the account from collections to change this custodial person on the account. she said she would call as soon as she knew something whithin 24-48 hours. I recieved a call within 5 hours from her stating they would not do a thing and that my sister was the point of contact and SHE is responsible for this account.
When talking to the collection agency Doug P. who is very rude and crude and harrasses us daily both my sister and I he first stated that my sister was just the guarentor of the account, but speaking with Dell two days ago they stated that she was not only the guarentor but also the custodial person on the account. I told them that I have never recieved a bill in her name it always stated the business name then my name under that and then my husbands name. I have never recieved a contract stating that she was the guarentor on the account and the sales person NEVER said that he put her as the guarentor or custodial, he stated that it was in my husband and my name and that my sister was allowed to use the account as well.
Doug P. told my sister yesterday that he was going to file for a judgement to start garnishing my sisters wages since she is the primary on this account. He threatens her telling her that she had to give dell her finanical and personal information in order for her to be responsible calling her a lier and then turning around and stating that this accoutn was taken out in fraud then if she didnt know about it, he then goes on to tell her that she better talk to her sister (me) and get her story straight. My pour sister can not afford to have her wages garnished. My husband and I and my sister has been harrassed and manipulated and lied to from this company as well as Dell. We are currently leasing a computer through Dell's lease program, as we have done with several computers in the past 4 years. In the past year, we receive constant phonecalls from Dell's collections department, usually beginning 2 days after the payment due date. For example: This month, (July), payment by check to Dell of $58.99 went out of our office on 7/16/08, 3 days past the due date. On that date, we received 2 phone calls from some foreign person representing Dell to inquire as to the status of payment. As always, they want a payment by phone with an additional fee attached, which I refuse to do. I give them the check number of the payment sent.
I then receive 2 to 3 phone calls per day from Dell's collection dogs claiming that they do not have my payment. I checked my bank, found out that the check payment in question was paid by my bank on 7/21/08, so Dell received my payment on 7/19/08, and as of 7/28/08 was still making phone calls into my office looking for my payment! This is a regular monthly occurrence with Dell however, this particular month was even worse.
I emailed Dell on 7/25/08 with my complaint and they sent me back some sort of generic response. I contacted Dell to try to return the computer and end my relationship with Dell and they informed me that I may return the computer and pay them the rmaining leas payments totalling $1,128.38. That means that we have paid $2780.10 for this computer. Granted, we acknowledge that we should receive the Sap of the Year reward for ever entering into this type of a business relationship, and we will deal with financial consequences, but we are extremely irate with Dell Financial's collections department.
We have never missed a payment, and we have paid off 4 other lease/ purchases in the past 2 years. Yet, they continually harass us each month, and when we try to speak with a supervisor, we are connected to another person with a foreign accent who is no help whatsoever. We are completely disgusted with Dell, we will never purchase another Dell product, and we would love to get rid of the computer on the lease agreement in question so as to end forever any dealings with Dell and we can't even accomplish that without being yet again victimized by Dell's financial policies.
We fear that we are stuck dealing with the pit bulls from Dell Financial untill the lease is satisfied. We are a small construction business trying to make just a living, not a fortune, and we feel totally taken advantage of by the Corporate giant, Dell. Again, we will NEVER purchase another Dell product, and we will tell everyone we come in contact with to avoid Dell products.

I purchased that from Dell and guess what...that didn't work either.
3. Now working via email correspondence must be too much for them since they now recommend that I call them and try to work through their automated phone system for customer service.

In January 2007 I bought a Dell computer using a Dell Financial Services Dell Preferred Account. I assumed I could simply pay 1/18th of the computer price per month for 18 months at no interest to pay off the computer.
I was never told there was a due date on each payment and that my payments were set up for 2 to3 days late. I foolishly didnt examine the bills carefully until last month when I noticed I had been charged a late fee of $29 each month along with my $65 computer payment. The late payments were added for almost every month, totaling over $200.
I called Dell Financial Services and their partner Check Free to get the late payments removed. After several calls to both parties, Dell removed only 2 of the payments, claiming that I should have read my bills more carefully.
I looked up Dell Financial Services on the web and found (on your web site) they had settled a class action suit in 2006, promising to change their misleading practices. Other web sites have more recent complaints similar to mine.
I am afraid that is I do not pay all they claim that I owe before mid July, they will add on interest and blacken my credit rating.
Is there anything else I can do?
Thank you.

My 19 year old daughter bought a Dell laptop on a special XPS no interest plan. The first bill called for a minimum payment of $30.00. I set up an automatic payment of $50.00 without reading the fine print on her behalf. Turns out this revolving credit offer was accumulating interest all along and had a payoff date which must be met to avoid paying the accrued interest. However the minimum payment would not payoff the loaned amount in time to avoid the payoff. Mea culpa.
I did not beware the seller because after buying four computers and two axiums and a music player from Dell, I had put them on the friend of the family list. The special offer date expired and my kid was hit with a $500 in interest. I could have avoided this if I was aware of the consequences, but since my payments were being made automatically by my bank, I had no reason to study the monthly paper statements in a timely manner. After all, this was Dell Computers, a trusted member of the family.
Needless to say I must strongly urge everyone tempted to use Dell Financial Services to make sure they understand the terms. DSF will do everything they can to muddy the waters and steer you into a paying their astronomical interest rates.
Memo to Michael Dell: You spent most of your life revolutionizing retailing and creating a first tier brand. Why squander you life's work with gotcha financing? The $500 I will have to pay is a pittance compared to what I have spent with Dell, and thought I might in the future. My computer needs extend way beyond personal use. This is a classic battle of winning the battle and losing the war. Adios Dell. You're now on my life is too short list.

I can top the man who bought the Dell printer and has gone broke buying cartridges...I also bought a printer from Dell along with a desktop computer, a laptop, a video cam, digital cameras, digital-camera-printer, ipods, software, etc. This particular experience is exclusive to the printer and cartridges but it is necessary to understand how much money my small business has spent with Dell.
I ordered two, double cartridges for my J740 desktop printer. That is two sets each of one, color cartridge and one, black and white cartridge; that way I would be getting a deal on the purchase! I spent $138 total for the two sets. I ordered the cartridges on my business account line of credit (which at that time had an available credit line of over $3,000) and asked that they simply include the invoice with the shipment as I did NOT want to pay interest on the cartridges and would pay the balance in full upon receipt. I received the order within the designated time frame but with no invoice. Assuming the invoice would then be mailed separately, I went on about my business and dismissed the whole thing.
Four months later I received a call from Dell's Collection Department claiming that I owed them the $138 plus four months of past-due-fees. I asked why I had never been invoiced for the charge within the normal 10-30 days of shipment and was told they had sent invoices but that I neglected to pay them. Then I asked what address they had sent the invoices to. They had sent the invoices to my business address from four years ago; yes, I hadn't been at that address for over four years. Now they didn't have any trouble knowing which address to ship the cartridges to, just the invoices. This was due, I was told, to the fact that the billing department was in a different area than the shipping department and thus resulted in the error (their error). I asked them to email me a current invoice for the cost of the cartridges only and told them I was refusing to pay any late charges because it was their error and not mine and that therefore the charges were not valid.
They sent the email. I paid the invoice immediately and in full. Then they kept sending me monthly invoices for the late fees they claimed I still owed and of course adding an additional late fee to the initial late fees each month; still I refused to pay the late fee bill. This went on for four months and then, I learned today (06/11/2008), that they closed my account and decreased my credit line to $0.00 because my account was deliquent for $39.60. They reported the incident to my small business tax ID as a charge-off and ruined my credit for a mere $39 that was their mistake in the first place.
My business tax ID and credit rating have been permanently damaged and now I will have to pay a higher interest rate if and when I do get other business lines of credit. Also, I needed to buy some additional product for my business when I found I had no line of credit available thus putting me in the compromising situation of now having to search for another company to work with, other products to research, etc. All of which are wasting my time and resources.

I purchased a computer for my son. The date I don't recall but it has been years and they keep adding finance charges on it. I pay the minimum. When I called them I get such a run a round or I talk to an unbroken english speaking person whom i cant understand. All i want to know is why the financial charges are being added on. At this rate I will never pay this off.
I just want to pay them off already and get this over with. I am afraid if i dont keep paying it they will put me in collections.

After buying 7 computers from DELL I was told I would get 6 months same as cash with my latest desktop computer. When the bill arrived, it was due and payable or minimum payments could be made. Several phone calls and emails to DELL resulted in no settlement. I had to either pay in full to avoid finance charges or could make payments. I paid off the computer with a vocal complaint to DELL about the way I, a long time customer, was being treated. No help. I made them close my DELL account and told them I would never buy another DELL computer. The reaction was OK, we've closed your account. DELL had rather lose a customer than lose the opportunity to charge astronomical interest.

Because of the high interest I was paying on an account and seeing no change whatsoever. I didn't have the money to pay any higher payments at the time due to my other bills. I spent almost a year doing this before I took out a personal loan from a bank and paid off the Dell Preferred Account because there was no way I would be able to pay it off paying the "monthly payment" they used or told me I could pay when I purchased the computer.

In 2002, I purchased a home computer from Dellfor the amount of $1,200. I specifically explained that I was on a fixed income and my payments must come due on the 3rd of the month. The first month's payment came due on the 25th. I called them to remind them of our agreement. I was assured that the next month I would be billed for the 3rd of month payment.
Each month I was charged interest and late fees. This went on until the balance was up to $1,800. Each time I tried to complain, I was put on hold. When someone did come to the phone, their English was so poor, I could not understand what they were saying. Frustrated, I sent letters to every complaint avenue I could think of. Some may still be posted on the internet.
Finally, I told them I would not pay them until they corrected my bill. They, in turn turned it over to collections. The first collection agency was so rude that I just stopped trying to explain anything to them and stopped accepting their calls. They turned the account over to another company. After much frustration, I finally agreed to a balance of $800. He insisted that this would only be valid if I paid it right away. I went to my bank in Harker Heights and borrowed the money to pay the agreed upon amount, just glad to have it over with.
This agreement provided that I would no longer owe Dell anything. The next month, they again billed me, however the the bank loan department dealt with them and they never billed me again.
It left a mark on my credit which I was so desperately trying to repair.
