I do not have an account with LinkedIn... Never have. So why do I have an account with them. I am retired... (6 years) from the DPH. Just recently started getting e-mails, obviously someone opened an account in my name. Notified my attorney to help get a resolution. This situation is very unsettling.

Linkedin has succumb to the hackers. Why would others even want to impersonate someone else, what a waste of time. I would say to these people, get your own life, a real one. With so many people getting their accounts shutdown because Linkedin is being overrun with hackers, fake profilers etc, that they don't know what's real anymore. So my advice is to not use linkedin anymore and don't waste your life on them. Let divine intervention handle the issue and you just go along your merry way. When a company is as mixed up, and over run as they are, you have to just move on and ignore them. If you are making payments to them, and they have blocked you off your own site, then stop paying them and move on. There are bigger things to move onto in your life/business/career.

I have written them twice to let them know that my 89 year old mother currently has a linkedin profile even though she never uses a computer, and wouldn't know how. She has a mental issue. Upon writing them I saw huge numbers of desperate people writing about being restricted (shut-off) from their own profile, hackers who have stolen their accounts and using them for - who knows. I am her POA and I will not bother to waste one more minute of my life (or hers) on linkedin issues.

I have a lot of issues with LinkedIn, but the main one at the moment is them paywalling contact with hiring managers. I'd say about 50% of the jobs that I run across online, in general - have hiring agents that cite their LinkedIn profile for contacting them. But if they are in your network then LinkedIn expect you to spend $30 a month to reach out to them. That's extortion.

I was on Linkedlin for many years but was recently banned for no reason given. All I wanted to do was change my email address and ended up getting locked out. I contacted customer service and was told I could either upload my driver's license or fill out a form, take it to a notary and then send it in. I wasn't about to upload my driver's license so I went the notary route and have heard nothing. My husband tried to help, but was told due to privacy they couldn't help unless I contacted them myself. I asked that my account be deleted but have heard nothing at all.

Gave 1 star because I couldn't do a negative rating. My LinkedIn account was banned, and I have no idea why. I received an email from LinkedIn that suggested my account may have been hacked and they needed to verify my identity. I went through the steps and provided my ID for verification and then immediately received a message that I was permanently banned. Then the painful part began.. I was unable to reach anyone for weeks as there is no way to directly contact them if you don't have an account. I had friends of mine with active accounts try to open a ticket and they were not able to submit any sort of help ticket for me or for anything else on their account for that matter. No one could be reached.

After researching all of the horrific experiences a lot of individuals have had with LinkedIn service, I tried to contact them through X, Instagram and Facebook and I finally got these canned responses: "As previously stated in the last communication, we are unable to change the outcome of the review. Your account was found in violation of our user agreement. Our policies are applicable to all the members of LinkedIn and based on that, LinkedIn reserves the right to limit the use of service for members who violate the terms. User Agreement: https://www.linkedin.com/legal/user-agreement. Due to privacy concerns, further details regarding your account restriction will not be provided."

No explanation as to what I was in violation of? I spent hours trying to read through the user agreement and had no idea what I was in violation of? And it made no sense to me that they didn't share what it was. Why the secrecy? Why not communicate to me, tell me what was in violation and allow me to correct it? From all of the reviews I've read, no one knew what they were in violation of and had no idea why they got banned.

After continuing to ask what it was that was wrong and making it clear I relied on LinkedIn for work, I finally received this response: "I apologize for the frustration regarding this decision, but as explained in my previous messages the account is not able to be restored. This is a final decision, further requests to restore access to the profile will be closed with no response. We wish you the best of luck in all of your future endeavors." LinkedIn has no service and does not value their customers at all. Why should they? They have no real competition. They do it because they can and there are no options. Hoping that another platform is created to take them off the map as I know a lot of people are very frustrated with them.

I Gave Up on LinkedIn. Since my initial attempts to use LinkedIn in 2016, my experience has been anything but awful. Time and again, I've meticulously provided detailed and accurate information, especially during my endeavor to establish a business profile. Despite all my efforts, I'm consistently met with account restrictions.

What heightens my concerns is the noticeable absence of a reliable customer support system. It's baffling that a platform as renowned as LinkedIn doesn't seem to have a straightforward channel for users to reach out, seek clarifications, or address pressing issues. I've scoured their help sections and made numerous efforts to get in touch, but to no avail. Without answers and lacking clarity on these recurrent restrictions, I'm left feeling marginalized and unheard.

The core essence of platforms like LinkedIn is to foster professional connections and opportunities. But when users, particularly businesses, can't rely on the platform's consistency or obtain requisite support, it severely undermines its very purpose. It's with genuine disappointment that I've decided to step away, hoping that in the future, LinkedIn might offer a more transparent, communicative, and user-supportive environment.

I gave them full information about my business, such as official websites, phones, emails. Government is accepted my documents, but not LinkedIn. What are you LinkedIn? Just an awful company registered by some students who don't have time to create normal support system. I even registered this time for premium as a business. But still restricted. If they will take money from my card I will sue them. LinkedIn is the worst company I've ever seen in my life!!! It seems they love bad reviews about themselves. I see there are many bad reviews. Thanks to the internet I found alternatives.

This is the second time my LinkedIn Account has been closed. I provided my driver's ID. They suggested my account may have been hacked and they needed to verify my account. It was suggested I use my phone number for authentication. But I could never log back into my account. Next, for no reason, not emailing anyone, and not having any connections yet, someone made false accusations about my character or actions. This is what LinkedIn customer service stated about me, "We've deemed the activity in your account is in violation of the LinkedIn User Agreement and Professional Community Policies. Your appeal has been denied and your account has been restricted permanently. Please see our User Agreement and Professional Community Policies for more information."

I know they asked me to sign up for premium services, but I didn't. I, Tina Marie (**) **, don't feel I violated any community laws. If I did, why don't they tell me specifically what I did wrong? I feel this is a false character defamation, or someone made false statements about me that is a business with a lot more money than me. But anything I had in my account was the truth, I would enjoy the opportunity to back up the false accusations of community violation with the truth. I did not email anyone, message, or post anything. I had a couple featured documents with information that was the truth. My degrees were the truth. LinkedIn cannot provide me with justification FACTS about why my account was closed.

Linkedin may be the worst social site around. Why you might ask would I say this? Let's look at what I see since they were acquired by Microsoft Corp., a company with poorly made products and terrible technology. They are cheap and get infected constantly. They have the worst support of any company online today, and most people don't use their programming language anymore, with only 7.7% of sites using it. Finally, most people prefer stability, and Microsoft Corp. is far from that.

So they purchased LinkedIn, and things started breaking that shouldn't. Our posts have disappeared, yet our competitors are still working as a developer; that shouldn't be the case as these are all controllers. I'm guessing the people at Microsoft don't understand PHP. They charge a ridiculously high fee for the premium account and yet give you nothing for it. Their adverting costs are three to four times that of Facebook, and they are ten times smaller than Facebook. They think they are worth it, but I tried to advertise, and for $500, I received nothing. I ran an ad on Facebook and received a 7 percent response.

Everything about Linkedin is terrible. It is just another Facebook app. What once was a professional site has turned into how many likes or comments I can get. Microsft has destroyed this company in a short time, just like everything else they touch. Like their founder, they are brain dead and haven't a clue. Yeah, they believe that he is brilliant because Bill Gates invented this MANY years ago. But, no, it means he did it first, and now they are dead last with everything today.

If you check into a company, they assume you want to follow them as well. This means you are deluged daily with anything/everything your connections want to send out. If you join a group, people are free to not follow the rules and advertise whatever they want and you get stuck with it in your profile box. People try to get rated as "Influencers" on LinkedIn and that is another nightmare of ads and posts altogether. Overall, LinkedIn operates like a typical job search site. Employers post job opportunities and applicants search for them and apply. Search results will yield thousands of results. Unfortunately, the search results are often riddled with entries that are not related or relevant to the search input. If you upload your resume, the search results will identify if your resume matches the job description. Another helpful feature is the site provides information on how many applicants have applied for a position thru the website. The site provides comprehensive information on the businesses that post opportunities. Allowing the user (applicant) to make informed decisions. One negative trait, the site does not strictly monitor what is being posted, and it allows spam posting (fake, illegal and scam job offerings). It is not my preferred job site but it does provide the necessities.

I love LinkedIn Jobs for the tailored job recommendations and the easy INApply feature. I have actually found a couple of jobs through it. It is very convenient to open your profile up to recruiters and tell your network that you are seeking employment. I like how your profile is shared with those you are applying with, especially since I have a ton of recommendations! If I could change one thing, it would be the same job sent to me over and over again. I get excited that there is a new recommendation and then, when I apply, it tells me "you've already applied". All in all, I often find a better quality job on LinkedIn and would recommend it.

I came across this survey ironically as LinkedIn is down tonight. Twice when checked, all I get is a blank white screen - no error message. As for a review: I don't care for how just anyone can contact/spam me, even if we have no connections in common, LI has just become a place for unwanted solicitation. They should have a feature where user can screen whether/what type of inquiries they want to receive. I don't care for their search functionality, it's difficult to find someone you have a few details about (e.g. you have a first name, location, and company, it should bring up everyone that fits that criteria, but doesn't). However, it is the gold standard of career sites, and does have a good amount of jobs posted. Networking could be better; LI should sponsor on and offline networking events! Glassdoor is better on the peer reviews and salary info, but they have technical issues, too.

While LinkedIn started as a good idea, it's not really a good place to connect because people try to add quantity instead of substance of connections. I get far too many connection requests from people who work for companies I have never worked for or are just not in my state. I would prefer to connect with people who are close to or in my home town for job prospects and as a sort of reference list.

The filtering system for looking for a job allows you to look for $40,000 & $60,000 jobs but not $50,000. If you filter for $40,000, you get many jobs that don't tell you what the salary range is. I think it should be a requirement that the company post salary or hourly pay in order to not waste a significant amount of time for everybody. I am also noticing a tremendous amount of fake jobs and fake people with fake profiles are trying to connect. Keanu Reeves was supposedly following me yesterday, but it obviously wasn't Keanu Reeves. It was a fake profile. I don't have a lot of trust in the site other than I think it has some interesting conversations with celebrity advice and the public responding. But as a job site, I don't think it works. I have to pretend like I work for the FBI just to research whether or not a job is actually legit. You also get notifications that someone has viewed your profile. But people can view in a secret mode, and you have to pay money to see who viewed it. But aren't they making money on the back end off of the fake job postings (MLM)?

This is because your own LinkedIn account starts with people you know and who know you. They have worked with you and can back your abilities. They can even refer you to positions that may not yet be public knowledge, which is needed in these competitive times. You can also look for contacts for jobs you’re applying for that your own 1st tier contacts know and could connect you to. It’s always better to know someone at the company you’re applying to! So even if you're employed but still needing or wanting to look for something better it's very helpful to have a LinkedIn account with a up to date profile for yourself. Just by keeping a profile you can be recruited by employers because companies can also search for people to be potential employees. A great benefit of LinkedIn is to be able to see if you have any contacts who currently or in the past worked for the company you are applying for a job and then reach out to that contact. For other companies, they ask a lot of questions for the application that are "automatically filled in" with LinkedIn by virtue of your LinkedIn profile. For LinkedIn and "all" job search sites, there are way too many job leads sent to you that are "so far" removed from your interest and/or qualifications... these tend to be jobs that are "way below" your qualifications rather than "above".

For the most part LinkedIn (paid subscription) is my go to Job search app. However the 2 things I find difficult & frustrating are:

    1. ability to filter for REMOTE positions (& the variations of remote, 100% Anywhere in US, State specific, partial remote etc)

    2. ability to easily filter or see which jobs posted via a Recruiter (usually same job posted by many recruiters) vs posted by actual hiring Company. While I am open to working via a recruiting agency I've found they ONLY have my interests in mind when they happen to have a position that by chance I match up with. In no way have experienced or found a Recruiter who works with ME that matches MY skills to a job. I would pay for this service, IF I could find, which I can't if it is a real thing.

What I like: ability to Quick Apply with maybe 2 or 3 job specific questions, which I find occasionally, More often I'm direct to a companies or recruiter site that even when using linked in connect to prefill, I still need to copy and paste or correct 85% of my info into. I love the Company or application insight information, ie # of applicants, salary ranges, etc.

That would narrow down the results and make them more relevant and helpful for me. Whether or not you're seeking a job though, LinkedIn is great for professional development because you are able to follow organizations and people you are interested in, thereby receiving updates from them. I've been able to connect with various people through the messaging system and the suggestions for fixing your profile are helpful as well. I think the only types of people who can benefit from LinkedIn are executive professionals. It appears that the new look of LinkedIn was done for executives who thought they were creating it for everyone, but sadly, executives are all too often disconnected from the real world. They post way too many fake ads and scams, and they allow these scammers to post spam. So let's say you're looking for something part-time, work from home, LinkedIn will propagate 50 or more so called jobs that are all from the same 2 or 3 "employers" in your area, and most of them are foreign corporations. These employers only offer surveys or polls to complete, where you get paid up to a couple dollars for each completion. And these surveys can take up to one hour or longer, plus keep in mind that you'll still need to pay taxes on that, where you may earn $10 for 4 hours of work. These aren't jobs when they pay less than a person earns in servitude.

In the two months I've been back on LinkedIn, I only found one job near my home that I was eligible for. I have a professional background with a bachelor's degree, and I have a lot of transferable skills. So what does that tell you about LinkedIn? LinkedIn just dumped a ton of money into revamping their website and services. You would think with all of that money spent, their IT people would have made it simple on users of where to send verification codes (eg email or cell phone). But that was too tough for them. You get a chose between one or the other, but you make that choice when you're logged in. So if your phone is lost or your email compromised, they don't give you a choice of where to send the code to when you attempt to log in.

To add insult to injury, LinkedIn thinks they are the new Facebook now, so they made it impossible to contact them directly. You can find their mailing address if you search long enough online, but no phone numbers. Well, you'll find two phone numbers, but LinkedIn has them set up to not accept phone calls. So all you'll hear is the same outgoing VM on replay.

If I was considering on paying one of these employment search companies for additional help with my search, I would NEVER pay LinkedIn. When a company goes over and beyond to avoid direct communication with their customers and the public, it shows not only a lack of transparency, but also a lack of business ethics. It also means you'll be experiencing a bit of a nightmare when you are ready to stop payment.

I had lots got foreign people from certain countries trying to connect with me. I discovered one day when I looked at who's logged in. It was not just me logged in. It would be different iPhones and locations besides Durham, NC where I live. Every time I logged into recruiter like the location would change from my Durham location to unknown location. Also happened when I downloaded Recruiter Lite on my IiPhone. Location would be a different city besides Durham. SO scary. I was harassed by foreigners online. Computer hacked. I could tell my iPhone was hacked. Always hot whenever I made phone calls. Things became physical. People figured out or took advantage of where I lived.

Started being physically stalked, harassed and followed around town to gym, grocery store, mall, get nails done. Anywhere I went. Beyond scary. There is some sort of racket going on when you connect to people on Linkedin that some IT people are making money off you. They somehow connect thieves up to your account so they can look at who you contacting. Possibly download all your connections without you knowing it. I feel I was also preyed on by companies I seemingly worked for. They are nuts. They could have just paid me for the access rather than dealing with me. Rather than stealing and terrorizing me for 2 years. I got confronted by some folk where I went. I think I needed to be on my computer for these criminal activities to take place. It's taken me a few years to believe this is true. I didn't want to believe people could be this cruel and evil.

I believe it's Americans (American companies or any company) and foreigners are somehow selling this racket to them. It took me a while to realize this scam and racket. I have talked to my family many times what I thought was happening. Welcome to 2020 and the world of the internet and all the criminal activity and stealing you can deal with. I think when you look for a job it is smoke and mirrors. I believe that someone has presented this scam to companies and I guess in some way cheaper than just hiring a good recruiter and buying the yearly recruiter lite rather than monthly. I still do not get why anyone would do it. I don't know all the details but this is what I know so far. I just started working for a IT staffing company. Added their profiles. After week looked in my location details....2 other locations opened and it won't give location name. You do the math.

Have called cops and gone to councilman in Durham locally to get help only to be turned down. I fear for my life because I'm a woman and being followed and harassed at some places I go to. I leave my yard and immediately I got dozens of cars and F150 trucks and all kinds of trucks following me like I'm the President. Apparently these are important people following me with power. How I got myself in this ridiculous mess I do not know. Some horrible person has sold me to the highest bidder for free Linkedin privileges on my Linkedin recruiter account. I'm a good recruiter but so are tons of more people. I don’t have a 100k connections just almost 16k. The world has gone crazy. I leave this message as a warning of what's happening in social media, the dangers, greed and evil that come with it.

I’ve used Linked-in recruiter for a few years. I purchased job slots and a recruiter license which we have paid tens of thousands of dollars for. LinkedIn makes it very difficult to share resumes with hiring managers. This year to streamline things since I am very busy and downloading and saving every resume to my desktop just so I can email them to a hiring manager (I’m HR) is time consuming, I shared my personal login and password so that the manager could scroll through the resumes and just let me know who they would like to interview. I received emails from Linked-in making me feel like a criminal for doing that. I was told I needed to pay more money to be able to “collaborate” with others. I was also told that, me and the hiring manager needed to go through a process of resetting our login information and then report back to them when we are finished so that we come off their violation list.

“In order to successfully collaborate within the tools while remaining compliant with LinkedIn's Service Terms you would need a Recruiter License. Each purchased Recruiter License comes with 20 Hiring Manager licenses. The Hiring Manager licenses empower your staff to review profiles and provide feedback to the assigned Recruiter through a shared project folder.” I’m very disappointed, it seems LinkedIn charges a lot of money to get applicants through job postings, then makes it difficult to get these resumes in front of the people who need to see them and charges even more money for what should be built in to the system. I won’t be renewing next year.

I have just recently started my own company and blindly fell sucker to the "free one-month trial" for LinkedIn Premium so that I could more easily monitor the views that I was getting on my LinkedIn profile. I provided my credit card information and selected the option in my subscription settings to receive notification that my "free one-month trial" would be expiring prior to being charged the full annual subscription fee. I never received any notification. Fortunately, I annotated the date by which I needed to cancel the subscription in my calendar; however, my premium subscription cancellation procedure did not cancel my "free one-month trial", and I was charged the full annual fee exactly one month (mind you, not 31 days) after my trial began. I also did not receive any receipt or authorization of the charge via email.

My attempts to contact LinkedIn either by phone or live chat have been utterly futile as they also were on the day that I tried to cancel my Premium Subscription. Based on my month-long assessment of the Premium subscription, it offers no additional benefits to the basic subscription for which there is no charge--those of you who may get sucked it to the "free month trial" are therefore forewarned. The most upsetting aspect of this entire experience is the fact that there is no viable customer service. All of my online research has indicated that email requests are never answered and that it is the worst way to try to reach customer service, even though their recorded phone messages advertise email as the most optimal method of communication.

I did find numbers to the corporate offices, which, according the the online reviews, have resulted in reaching a live person in the past. Those numbers no longer appear to provide a valid mechanism for speaking with a live person. LinkedIn boasts a 600 million plus subscription membership. However, this membership is clearly too large to support anything that remotely resembles customer service. I can even get a live person located in the United States when I call my credit card company.

While the basic service that LinkedIn provides is useful for establishing and maintaining business-related contacts, I would suggest staying away from the Premium subscription service or anything that requires a credit card for a "free one-month trial", particularly if you are not in the business of recruiting. If you find yourself thinking that you can simply contact someone at LinkedIn should you need help in canceling a subscription, you will later find yourself very frustrated when you can't speak or electronically communicate with a single employee of LinkedIn. I still have a 4 year old account which is filled with misinformation, which leads me to believe someone else got into that account and changed some of its content. Linkedin has no customer service and nothing that even resembles customer service. I tried to log in using every email address I have, and tried all phone numbers I have had for the past 20 years, no avail. So, I have to let this misinformation be "out there" on their excuse for a website because they refuse to allow me to contact them.

Even though I was using Sales Navigator to contact prospects they canceled the service saying I was being too active on the site. If the site is being advertised as a way to develop professional contacts and it's supposed to help you develop sales however when you use the site they cancel the services, isn't that false advertising. Are they conducting fraud on their users?

Any job interviews or ultimately the job I found came outside of my actions on LinkedIn (my connections outside of Linkedin). I researched on LinkedIn, used videos, etc. I received responses from only a few recruiters or headhunters thru LinkedIn. I was told later on by 3 recruiters I have gotten to know that they really only used LinkedIn to get lists, etc. They don't really respond to inquiries or messages. In addition, a lot of the connections I have say the same thing. Basically those looking for job are at the bottom of the list. The outcome of Linkedin Premium is much different than the sales pitch. I have confirmed this with many, many friends. I had an online chat with LinkedIn rep after cancelling my Premium and they could have cared less.

You can appeal a ban, but it will take at least a few weeks. Customer service will often not reply to you. Now the website itself. The website design is outdated and unnecessarily tricky to use. Many features do not work. For example, I search for a job within a radius of 10 miles within my city. It breaks for no reason. Never buy premium for this website. Being banned for any reason while having features do not work is an embarrassment. Use other sites for professional and job searching needs. LinkedIn sucks.

One fine day, I got restricted. First reason. "We see unusual activity within your account and we know it's not you that is doing this, but for the safety of our members we need to terminate your account." Reason 2. Connecting with people I don't know. Viewing a lot of profiles. Inflating my followers. I have connections that are engaging with me that have millions of followers. Are these real reasons? Do they have a flaw in their system? Do they care about long term paying customers? It's been over 3 months and nothing is sorted out yet. Every time I open a new account it gets blocked. 7 times already. Where's the courtesy towards a person that is spreading goodwill on LinkedIn. Where is the courtesy towards a paying customer. 3 years of paying them, to gain over 109,000 followers and all gone in a second. The only answer they can give is we need to protect our members. I am a group owner on LinkedIn who has been a member for more than ten years. I have more than one million members in my groups. Some of the dishonest practices that I have experienced and documented. I believe that these actions and many others that I have experienced are breaking laws in Europe and in California and other US states. They hide many postings. They are visible on the poster's computer in the discussion list but not on other group member's computers.

They remove the management function to remove group members posting thousands of bogus postings to disrupt the groups. They appear to be using Indian contractors who rejoin every day with fictitious avatars and postings designed to disrupt the groups. Members say my profile has disappeared and they get messages saying, groups, that they are members of don't exist. They limit member joining approval to ten per click. It goes up and down randomly with each click from one to ten per click. I often approve 1000 new members each day yet over the last 3 months group sizes have changed by zero or one member. They are not permitting members to join groups. Previously it was possible to approve 50 per click.

They attack groups for commercial reasons and surreptitiously remove tens of thousands of members. They block thousands of people who apply to join groups so their applications go into no man's land. They have blocked groups of words in discussions that they deem to be competing with Lynda.com. For example, if a posting had the words 'Design thinking" it would not post because they have a course in design thinking on Lynda and want to control all discussions with that term. They prevent group owners from emailing their group members or distribute the postings to less than 5% of the members in the group owner's group despite the settings of the members.

They have removed the group logos of some groups that are growing faster than they want. They have removed also the ability to replace the group logos. Six months ago they indicated that this was a temporary action while they worked on the site. They haven't given me any credible reason why this continues. They provide dishonest support. A LinkedIn engineer in "special projects" has attacked my own independent website and tried to hack into the administration. They moved discussions down discussion lists to 20th place and remove postings for their own commercial reasons. They have removed the "Like" so I cannot see who has liked a particular posting which is an indicator of which postings are visible to members. They post bogus spam postings to disrupt groups.

My business partner and I purchased the Premium LinkedIn Recruiter for 2 years. In 2017, I had to leave my company for personal reasons but still continued to pay for my share of $7K. Recently, I joined a staffing firm and to my surprise, I do not have access to LinkedIn Recruiter Corporate. I have asked for it numerous of times. I thought perhaps if LinkedIn could look up my old account and see that I hardly used it, then they may either give me a couple of months free for the Premium OR give me extra Inmail usage for my Recruiter Lite package that I recently purchased. They denied me of both.

The main reason why I am upset is the lack of empathy that was given to me and they completely ignored the fact that I was paying top dollar for their product that I did not use given some circumstances. I feel like I that the business that I gave them didn't count or matter. The rep was completely snippy to me in his response. I am really horrified by my experience.

Placed a job posting on LinkedIn recently. The wording/language about the fees was so confusing, I still don't understand what I was billed for, when after 10 days I owed them $110 just from people VIEWING THE AD! Reported it via email (no physical phone number to call them) and was told, "sorry, no refund possible". I feel like I got scammed and ripped off.
