I am a Toyota/Scion person! In fact, my whole family is! But I'm very upset about my treatment regarding the way Scion has passed the proverbial "buck" on to me. I finally heard that there was a recall of the hatch/garnish for my 2005 Scion! I was not personally notified. So I called when I heard about it and was told that in order to qualify I would have to produce a receipt that I actually had bought & replaced my hatch.

As Murphy's law would have it the receipt is misplaced and my Scion dealer in West Palm Beach had revamped their computers and all previous info had been deleted including the receipt for the hatch I had bought! With no proof that I had already replaced my garnish, which took me 4+ hours, I am now not able to take advantage of the recall. As you might have garnered from my complaint the 2nd hatch I installed also has bitten the dust. So for the past 6 years I have not been able to open my trunk. Very aggravating! I have used duck tape to hold it on all these years waiting for this recall that I can't take advantage of due to a missing receipt! Very disappointing Scion. Is there anything that can be done about this?

I am writing this letter to Toyota today due to an unfortunate event that has occurred. This is in regards to my 2007 Scion TC currently at 120,000 miles. On Thursday March 19, 2015 my motor blew 28 minutes away from my destination in Panama City Beach, Florida. I had left the previous night to drop off a friend that was going down to Florida. We performed all regular auto checks as anyone would when going on a long trip like we did. We checked the tires, windshield washer fluid, blinkers and the oil. We noticed the oil was fairly low, so while we were at the gas station we had purchased (3) quarts of oil (receipt not on hand) to add in. As we proceeded on our trip we were 28 minutes away from our destination and my oil light came on and stayed on, this has never happened. It has only blinked before and as soon as it did I would check the oil level.

So as soon as the light came on, I got nervous and told my friend “let's stop at that gas station ahead (approximately 1,000-2,000 feet in front of us) to check the oil before my motor blows”. As soon as I said that my car made a clanking noise and started smoking. I felt as if I was in a movie. Luckily, I was only driving 45mph and could pull my car into the grass median. As soon as I pulled my car in the median I opened the hood and it was steaming and my car had stalled itself out is what I assumed. At this moment I had no idea what was wrong with the car. I didn't know the motor blew. It's a Toyota there's no way my motor should blow, I was thinking in my head. My friend and I searched the road and grass to see if possibly a part or anything had fell out. I found a metal piece which was the connecting rod that at that time I didn't know what it was because it's currently in half. (Can provide photo if needed.)

So, an older man and his daughter pulled up in their minivan and asked us if we needed help. We checked the dip stick and oil level and there was no oil in my vehicle at all. The dipstick was completely dry. Once again, we had no idea what was wrong with the vehicle at the time. So, the older man suggested to add oil. I had mentioned that possibly the motor could have blown and we thought maybe the motor hadn't seized yet. He drove up to the gas station and bought a (5) quart of 5w-20 to add into the car. (Once again receipt not on hand, wasn't my concern at the time considering I was in the middle of the highway with a car that wouldn't turn on.) I am currently in the process of locating the gas station and seeing if they can retrieve a copy of the receipt for me.

After we added the oil the vehicle still would not start. He stated he had chains and a hook to tow my car which is when we towed it right up the road to Bay's Auto. It stayed at Bay's Auto and he had determined that the motor blew. At this point I had no idea what to do. He stated it was most likely due to the vehicle having no oil in it. Now, I had received the Toyota letter for excessive oil consumption problems that were being reported two days before I went on this drive.

When I came home that next day I went to Metro Toyota and they suggested that I call Toyota corporate and the Panama City Toyota. I called Toyota and told them what had happened and they assigned me a case manager. Her name is ** . ** calls me and I explain to her everything that has happened above. Also, I had explained to ** that I was planning to bring my car in to get the oil consumption test due to my vehicle consuming excessive oil. October 12, 2014 my car had 112,000 miles. Now, March 19th my car is at 120,000 miles. In a matter of 8,000 miles I have changed my oil myself twice and had the oil changed at Conrad's and at Kal’s Auto Group.

The last oil changed I performed was in February which I provided ** a receipt of the oil and filter that I purchased on January 31st from Advance Auto and had stated on there it was for a 2007 Scion. Not to mention I ONLY use full synthetic oil which is projected to last anywhere from 5-8,000 miles if not more. She tells me to gather all my oil change, oil fill-up receipts and anything else pertaining to this oil consumption issue. I gather all the possible receipts that I have. Like I stated earlier I do not have all of the receipts, which is my fault for not keeping them all.

After two days ** calls me and tells me there is nothing they can do for me. She stated two of my receipts were not valid enough and I had stated “okay, even without those two receipts it still states that my car was consuming more oil than the average amount." She continued to tell me that “the techs have determined the motor did not blow due to oil consumption because they found oil on the dip stick”. Well, of course there will be oil on the dip stick, we added (5) quarts of oil AFTER the motor had already seized. She tells me I can pay for the engine tear down, or pay Toyota $7,000 to repair my Scion TC that is most likely worth $7,000 and that is all. I'm sure you can pull up the telephone conversation, I was not very pleasant with her.

She stated that there was nothing they can do and that was it. After this I called Toyota, spoke with ** and he even stated that it will not be worth it for me to pay to have the engine tear down completed since something like oil consumption is very hard to prove. I feel VERY mistreated and undermined. I don't believe I would be as upset if I knew that Toyota had done everything to help me. At the beginning of this process I knew I had two outcomes to expect from Toyota, they would either fix my car or not fix it. Now, my problem is that Toyota did not help me to the best ability that they could have. I understand I do not have all of the receipts for the oil added but is that a sufficient reason to just close the case and leave me with nothing?

I understood from the beginning Toyota may not pay for this and that is not even the reason why I am upset. Toyota did not provide me a sufficient reason to why my motor had blown. That was it, case closed. I understand you do not work off of hearsay but I am just suggesting add the pieces together. I do not feel treated as a valued customer one bit and I will spread word of my horrific experience with Toyota. I do not think I will EVER buy a Toyota again due to this. I will be sure to never refer Toyota to anyone. I hope this letter goes to someone who can take this into effect and hopefully treat other customers with more respect, understandment and appreciation.

Purchased my first Scion xB (2011, used) in 2013. Loved it. While at a routine service appointment at Central Florida Toyota in Orlando, Florida, I saw a 2014 model. After much negotiation, I drove home with it. First new car in 17 years. Everything fine from April-December 2014. Then the fuel economy starting to slide down. It was getting 23.4 mpg overall driving consistently. Then without warning these numbers starting dipping to 20 and below. I took the car to the original dealership, Central Florida Toyota. They told me it was the tire pressures. They charged me handsomely to replace a tire with a puncture and sent me on my way. The car is 11 mos. old with less than 6,000 miles.

Next fillup shows no improvement in MPG. I stopped by the Dealer who has put me off. The service manager ** has told me to do 5 more tank fill ups before talking to him. I keep excel spreadsheets on my cars and I already have all the data I need to demonstrate a problem, but Toyota seems unwilling to fix the problem. Something has changed with this car and it's not where I get gas and it's not how I drive. Toyota needs to figure it out. I AM NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER. I talk to hundreds of people over the air on a regular basis and will make sure that they too know that I am unhappy about this situation.

Engine constantly showing low on oil. Finally blew motor even with constant checking. Check with Scion on 2009 TC complaints or recalls, they claimed no reported problems. Bought a complete rebuilt motor from O'Raileys, still having same problems. I should have just junked it, instead of putting another motor in.

In Sept 2013, the engine light in my fiance's 2008 Scion TC came on. I stopped at my local mechanic's shop and he ran diagnostics and said the code showed the catalytic converter was bad. It had 79,200 miles at this point. He also stated that the EPA forces auto companies to warranty all catalytic converters for 8 yr/80k miles.

He told me to bring in to Stadium Toyota down here in Tampa, FL. They ran diags and stated that it was not the cat/cnvrtr but an O2 sensor. I called my mechanic with this news and he said it was definitely not the O2 sensor but the cat/cnvrtr. If it was the O2 sensor, he would have done the replacement and gotten the cash. Stadium Toyota insisted so I had the O2 sensor replaced for a few hundred dollars. Approx a month later, the engine light returns, I return it to Toyota and now they say it is the catalytic converter!!! I am now at 80,400. 400 mi past the warranty. Isn't that convenient???

I speak with a service advisor at Stadium and he says he will call the district mgr to see if Toyota would repair it for free anyway. An hour later he returns stating GOOD NEWS. Toyota will fix for free. I am ecstatic and make an appt for the next Tuesday. I bring car in on Tuesday, sit in waiting room for 1 hour and ** comes to me and says, “We do not have the parts here.” Then why did you bring me in on Tuesday and make me wait for an hour if no parts are available? Unreal. I then make appt for the following Thursday. I bring in car on Thursday and after 2 hours, ** comes for me and at this time tells me that Toyota has decided to only pay half of the cost, after telling me TWICE that they would cover the whole thing. I consider this an outright LIE!!

I wrote complaints to the service mgr and dealership mgr and did not hear back for a month or so. When I inquired as to the disposition of this problem, the service mgr replied, nothing has changed and they are paying only the half. I will assume that if I did not re-inquire, I never would have heard anything back. Then yesterday, I get a call from a customer service person at Stadium Toyota to ask about the whole problem again. After re-iterating everything, she checks all the dates and verifies everything is true, she tells me they can only cover half. Nothing about their Service advisor lying to me about covering the whole amount.

I told her that we were in the market for a new car and already had 2 Toyotas, and for the $385.00 charge, they will lose any future sales to me or my family or any of my friends, that I will convince to skip EVER looking at a Toyota again. My fiance wanted to buy a Toyota RAV4 but I asked her to wait until we hear what Toyota would do for us. After yesterday’s call, we went today and bought a brand new Hyundai Santa Fe. Screw Toyota from here on. I will pass this on to 10 friends and each will tell 10 friends, etc.

I purchased this 2013 Scion IQ April 13, 2013 at the Servco Scion in Honolulu. The first thing I noticed shortly after buying it was a sound in my front left tire. After several times of bringing it in to the Kaneohe Servco, I was told "That's hot it is" due to them not being able to fix it. Then a few months later my gas gauge stopped working and I had no idea of how much gas I had. They then fixed that. November 14, 2014 the steering wheel developed a noise. I brought it back in and after I took it for a test drive with one of the mechanics in the car with me to insure he would hear the noise (Which he then did), I left the car and was given a loaner. My car sat idle Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday due to lack of staff. I received a call from Bill (the Service writer at Kaneohe Toyota) on November 19, 2014 who informed me the steering is not good and it is going to cost about 3,000 and paperwork needs to be submitted for this work to begin. The parts then have to be ordered from the mainland.

So since April of 2013 to November 2014, I've had nothing but problems with this car which I purchased brand new. I am a 56 year old retired from the Federal Government (Civil Service) Female that has purchased almost every car I have owned from Toyota. I will say that this car is the worst car I have owned and now will never buy another Toyota. Toyota has lost my business. I'm so very disappointed and do not recommend anyone to purchase a Scion IQ. My question is, is this car not a lemon? And why am I not offered either a refund or another new car in its place?

My story began in November 2011 when we purchased our first Scion, a 2005 xB. I had always liked the looks of the boxy little vehicle but had never really given much thought to buying one. Found a good deal on a 2005, automatic with right at 70k miles. Before I continue, I am 39 years old and have been a car enthusiast for as long as I can remember. I have owned more vehicles than I could ever begin to count over the years, foreign and domestic. So, prior to the xB our last vehicle was a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer. The xB was very surprisingly roomy. Much more than the Blazer as far as head/leg room but lose some on rear storage. Gas mileage was GREAT averaging 30+ mpg. They are not powerful or fast by any means which suited my wife and myself fine. There are, however, a ton of quality aftermarket parts to boost performance and looks.

After having the 2005 for a little over two years we liked it so well that we then bought another first gen, a 2006.5, to match the first. We now have HIS BOX and HER BOX. It has been over three years now and the first xB is well over the 100k mile mark and I have never had the first issue whatsoever. No lights, no leaks, no noises, NO PROBLEMS. I have only done basic maintenance such as replacing front brakes and routine oil changes (using only full synthetic Castrol).

Our son will begin driving in the next couple years and plan on him having an xB as well. Since we have owned our Scion we have made many friends from all over the US and Canada. We have large get-togethers at least once a year. Our story of dependability is shared by many, some of whom I personally know to have over 300k miles and climbing. Also known of numerous wrecks involving these vehicles yet do not know of ONE SINGLE INJURY. These vehicles are so great that I recently sold my Corvette and are planning on purchasing a 2014 xB Release Series 10.0.

Sorry to hear of the few people with bad experiences as I know for a fact that they are a minority. The Scion xB has been rated as the most reliable vehicle on the road and for good reason. Over all the years and all the vehicles the Scion xB has proven to be the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. Unique looks, dependability, functionality, and safety... the xB has it all and I would and DO recommend it to anyone looking or considering. We have become a loyal Scion family.

On 10/18/14 our 2006 Scion XB back door garnish broke. In doing some online research we found that this is a common problem with this model and the repair is covered under a warranty enhancement/Extension of Warranty Coverage for Back Door Garnish Loose or Broken (warranty policy bulletin no. POL 13-01). We contacted the closest dealer McGeorge Toyota Scion 9319, W Broad St. Henrico, VA 23294 to get it repaired under this warranty and they stated it was nothing they could do under warranty to repair the problem. We mentioned the previously stated warranty and they were persistent in letting us know that the warranty will not repair this problem. We went back to the internet for some help with this no warranty repair problem. Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. website had all the information on this problem.

Upon reading the first bit of information it stated: Owner Notification Letter Mailing Date - The owner notification will commence in late March, 2013 and will be mailed over several months. We never received stated notification letter. We were the second owners of this XB which we purchased from Haley Toyota of Richmond 3600 Lonas Pkwy Midlothian, VA 23112. I am sure this was a slight oversight being we were the second owners. We would like to get this repair done as soon as possible under the warranty extension. I also read that Scion is advising you (the owner) of this Enhancement to the Warranty coverage to assure you that we stand behind the product. This is the part that is a joke and a crock of it! We need some assistance on what to do next in getting the door repaired? We proceeded to contact Scion. We went back and forth.

I wanted to know why there was a time limit on repairing a defective part they knew they had from the beginning. They replied in so many words that a warranty has it's limited and ours had expired. In other words we had to pay for the defective part they knew would happen later rather than sooner. Not even a compromise on they supply the part and I supply the labor. We'll be looking to purchase another vehicle in 2015 and I can assure you it definitely won't be a Toyota!!! Do not purchase a Toyota because they will not stand behind their product when the consumer needs it the most.

Last weekend my ~1 year old Scion FR-S dies completely out of the blue on the 405 while my eight month pregnant wife was driving it. This is a car that is just over one year old, was bought new from this dealer, and is still under warranty. We get it towed to this service center Saturday. Eddie ** tells us: "We'll know what's wrong by the end of the day!" and "We'll cover you for a rental. Just call us Monday morning!" Monday morning comes around. No word about what is wrong with the car. All calls to Eddie go to voicemail. No calls are returned. I walk to the service center and find Eddie. He says he is still "waiting on authorization from Japan". He tells me he will not offer me a free rental. I'm late to work and have to rent a car from Enterprise to get to work.

The next day Eddie tells me that they will not cover clutch repairs under warranty. I have never abused my car, and in previous warranty services have reported clutch/transmission issues which they failed to investigate properly or fix. They tell me that if I want the car fixed under warranty I have to authorize a tear down of the transmission. They provide no quote detailing how expensive this tear down will be. They say that if they find the problem after the tear down is the clutch they will not cover it. If the problem is in the transmission and is a covered by warranty they will cover it. I ask them about the other possibility, if they tear down and find no issue with the transmission. They say in that case I will have to pay for the tear down (again, not provided with any estimate of tear down cost).

I decline based on the fact that I have never abused the clutch, and we have experienced and reported previous clutch/transmission issues (and have recorded video evidence of this prior to service where they "could not reproduce it" happening) it does not seem reasonable that I should be liable for paying for investigatory work to determine what is wrong with my car under warranty. I decline to authorize the tear down. When they refuse to negotiate or provide further information, I am force to tow the car to another dealership for service.

March 2013, Toyota Scion sent a letter to all Scion XB owners stating that there was a potential problem with the loosening of the Back Door Garnish. If your vehicle had not experienced this condition, no action was necessary. Toyota however did not classify this as a recall which it should be. The letter was to offer a "warranty enhancement" program ZTW, good for 7 years from vehicle date of sale or one year from the announcement of the program March 13, 2013 to March 13, 2014 regardless of mileage. Therefore if you experience the condition outside their narrow confines, you're out of luck and looking at a costly repair. Obviously, Toyota knows there is a defect and should have issued a recall. I have a 2006 Scion TC and yes the back hatch is broke... however... I went to go get an oil change and they printed off suggested maintenance according to mileage and manufacturer. I noticed it said Cabin Air Filter, I asked the gentleman helping me, "Is this what I think it is... a filter to filter out what is coming into my car?" At that time he said, "Wait let me double check your car... it may not need or have a place for one." He came back and informed me there was not one there... matter of fact he could see by discoloration of where it would have held the filter... It has never had one.

I then go to a gathering and come into a conversation with a person... just so happens they have same exact car... and his car was missing it as well. What are the odds that the person I run into has same problem? I have a feeling there are many more like that. To summarize, I've been driving around in my car for going on 9 years basically inhaling whatever comes out of someone's tailpipe not to mention the children and babies I have carried around in my car. I'm not certain on if I may have some type of medical condition from.this as well as many more who may. Not to mention my seat belts. It looks like an animal has been chewing on them.

I have a 2004 Scion XB. The power door lock on the driver side frequently does not unlock when it's supposed to. I can't unlock it by pulling on the lock,or by my key fob. Occasionally the switch on the door unlocks it, but I have to hit lock, unlock 6 to 10 times before it might work. I have had to climb out the passenger door several times, which is pretty embarrassing when you're in, oh, say, a shopping center, with lots of people watching! What I worry about is what if I get in an accident and the doors don't unlock? That's a deadly scenario. Or if there's a fire. Or I get trapped in water. All of these are potentially deadly circumstances. I know there are lots of other owners with this same complaint and Toyota does not think it's a safety issue so they refuse to fix the lock or issue any warnings or recalls.

I have/had a 2012 Scion XD. I was traveling at less than 30mph when the car in front of me stopped unexpectedly. I hit the brakes and unfortunately was unable to stop in time. I rear ended a midsize SUV. The air bags deployed and a fire erupted in the engine compartment before I was able to get out of the car. Before the Fire Dept. could arrive the entire car was engulfed in flames. I was able to get out just fine, with the loss of replaceable items and the car itself. However, something doesn't seem right that a minor crash would result in a fire. The damaged sustained by the SUV was bumper damage, no body damage resulted whatsoever. As for the Scion, it is kind of hard to tell exactly due to the fire, but the hood is only slightly bent and I noticed no damage to the fenders. Is this a defect or a one off incident? Has anyone else had a similar issue? I have contacted Scion, who has opened a claim on this. We will wait and see, in the meantime I hope no one has a similar issue, especially if the doors were jammed.

They had to rebuild the engine... basically from all the carbon build up around the pistons. Now the car runs like it always should have! HORRIBLE!! On top of that... while in the care of Frontier Toyota, the service department removed and replaced all the aftermarket parts that were on it, with stocked parts. Even the custom leather back seats!! I have many complaints filed, asking for someone to assist me in this act of theft and fraud. PLEASE, if anyone can direct me or refer me to anyone else that can help me with this matter. 2006 Scion xA Airbags did not deploy - I was in an accident on a freeway last week in which I was rear ended by a car and pushed into the back of a truck. It smashed up the rear and front of my car, totaling it. Neither the driver or passenger airbags deployed and judging by the damage, I believe in all rights they should have. I've contacted an attorney and learned that I can have the airbags inspected by an expert but it would cost $3,000 to $5,000 out of pocket. The driver of my vehicle and I suffered whiplash and bruises to various areas on our bodies. I'm very upset and disturbed that the airbags did not deploy. If the accident had been any worse, I wonder, would I have been killed as well due to the failure of this safety feature.

The XB has only 84,000 miles and has been trouble-free up to now. We've had regular oil changes and inspections done by our 20-year trusted service garage. The car has always had a soft pulsing engine sound when running, which we assumed was normal for this vehicle. But lately, the sound began to get slightly louder; plus this week, suddenly, all the ABS/trac/brake lights came on and stayed on. Since we had to go to the dealer for a possible recall of the power window master switch assembly anyway, we asked them to check out the sound and the lights. The switch was indeed bad and is being fixed, but we were appalled and incredulous when they reported a bad water pump and a corroded electronic cable harness and hub, requiring $1,500.00 to replace! We are having that work done now, not knowing any alternatives; and we are hoping Toyota will reimburse us for at least some of that awful cost. I had my car (08 Scion XD with Toyota's 100,000 mi. Platinum Extended Warranty) serviced on 5/3/12 at Sansone Toyota in Avenel, NJ. I didn't receive any of the repairs that were covered under warranty, but was persuaded into a brake service and windshield repair at my expense. My request included fixing electrical problems and checking the engine area for anything that could be wrong. My car was about 100 miles from the 100,000 mile warranty limit and I informed the service manager that I was hearing a sound and noticed a leak under the car. I put the request in writing b/c Sansone overlooked my first request to fix the electrical issue with the dome lights in the past.

I was sent away to wait for parts to be ordered and was told that nothing was wrong with my car. On 6/6/12, my car broke down and I had it towed to Gateway Toyota from a local mechanic. The odometer read 101,277, so I called Toyota Extra Care and explained what happened b/c my warranty had only expired weeks ago. They told me to have it towed to Toyota b/c the warranty was in the "grace period" and there was a shot they would cover the repairs if they were included in the warranty.

The mechanic told me I needed a water pump, which was included in warranty, but Extra Care wouldn't cover it and there was no such thing as a "grace period". I paid $600 and called corporate for partial assistance. My car overheated 5 minutes after I left Gateway Toyota. I took the car back and was told that I needed a new engine! I received no help from Toyota and believe that they were negligent more than once. I am appalled! I was deceived by Extra Care's customer service representatives and am highly unsatisfied with the quality of Toyota's service departments. There must have been something wrong when I took my car in a month earlier!

Keep in mind that this is a solid state piece of electronics with no moving parts, that catastrophically fails with no warning. I could understand a mechanical failure due to driver handling in a low mileage vehicle but in this case, I was incredulous, especially since my previous Toyotas have been hassle free for ten years at a time. Anyway, $1034 was quoted to repair, and outside time warranty. Great. I called Scion customer service (not the dealer) and they are picking up 75% of bill. This issue has shaken my confidence in Toyota and I may consider selling it early and moving on before more 'surprises', but the customer service folks came through and at least redeemed the situation to my satisfaction and the brand somewhat.

My 2008 Scion xB power steering failed on 04/12/2012 at night while leaving Publix. The steering wheel would not turn left or right despite operating perfectly fine when I parked the car to go to Publix. This car is in mint condition with only 47,700 miles on it. I bought it in June, 2008. I noticed a weird indicator on the dashboard and checked the owner's manual. The manual stated to take the car immediately to the dealership. I called World Toyota in Atlanta, GA, but they were already closed. I called a tow truck to have my car towed to my house.

I called World Toyota on 04/13/2012 from work the next day for an appointment on Saturday, 04/14/2012. Today (04/14/2012), I had the car towed from my house to World Toyota in Atlanta, GA. Brian at ** is the service contact. Brian told me that the ECU (some sort of computer device) is no longer working and needs replacing. I was told the cost would be about $1,068 to repair and the car would not be ready until possibly Tuesday.

This steering failed with no warning like a typical car where it is low on steering fluid and makes the typical noises when steering. My car drove like the day I bought it up until I returned to it from Publix to head home. The cost of the repair is annoying considering the car is in mint condition (VIN **). No one has any explanation why a part that is not even kept in stock could just fail with only 47,700 miles and only a few months from its fifth year of ownership. What really galled me is the possibility that this could have happened to my wife while driving around 70 mph on Georgia's interstates.

I bought Scion TC on 8-8-09. About 3 months into owning, I discovered the driver seat had white spots left on it when I brought it in for service. They said they would clean it. About 3 days after cleaning, the white spots returned on the left side of seat only. When I brought it back again for oil change, I made mention on the bottom seat as well as the side seat that seemed to have frayed mark.

On third visit, I got an attendant who seemed to care and was more helpful again. They cleaned the seat. Again, a few days later, I had the same problem. When I brought the car back again, side seat was worse and starting to rip. They then said that they would replace. I had a new seat cover put on. Soon again, the bottom seat had white spots on the left side, and the side seat has white section looking like it is fraying. When I brought the car to the dealer, I was told that white spots were from moisture that I caused by sitting on the seat with shorts after I had sweated or something.

First point is if it truly was caused by moisture, then why is it only the left side is problematic? Second, I do not get to my car all sweaty; I use it to go back and forth to work. In the morning, I am freshly showered and I have been in air conditioning all day. So, I sure not understand the dealer's reasoning, because it has been a problem early on of my buying the car.

As for the side seat, at first, I was told it was from the seat belt, which again makes no sense to me. If a person spends about $200,000 for a car, even if I did sweat on the seat, it should not get white spots. To me, it seems as if there was problem with the original material. If I try to sell the car, I will get less because of the white spots. All I am asking for is for the original problem to be fixed. As someone who has bought 5 new cars, this is the first time this problem has occurred. But the dealership's overall inability to care about my problem is very frustrating. I would like some better resolution and/or an actual answer that makes sense.

I have a 2007 Scion tC. The air bags did not deploy, and the ABS did not work! This happened in 2007. I was told nothing could be done, so I didn't push it any further. I just came across this site, so I thought I'd share my experience, and maybe, eventually, this issue will be resolved.

I was traveling on the highway, going approximately 70 mph. I pulled out behind someone to pass another car (and I gave a good amount of distance before I pulled out), when the car I pulled out behind slammed on their brakes for no reason and basically came to a stop. I slammed on my brakes and swerved to miss them. My wheels locked up even though I supposedly have ABS! I ended up fish tailing, I lost control, and I slammed into the guardrail on the right with the front of my car, completely destroying the front of the car, so that everything was pushed back towards the cabin and the engine was sitting on the ground.

I had to climb out a window, because both doors were jammed. The guardrail also left a perfect indentation all the way down the left side of the car. After hitting the guardrail, I then ricocheted back across the highway where the rear of the car hit the center median wall, and then the car spun back out into the middle of the lanes. My 2-month-old car was totaled! After all of this, the air bags did not deploy! Thankfully, I had my seat belt on!

The fire department said I most likely would have been thrown from the car if I wasn't wearing it. I was very lucky and walked away with just bumps, bruises, and a bit of stiffness. Toyota told me that I must not have hit the air bag sensors. The whole front of my car was smashed in, and I hit the guardrail basically head on! How did a sensor not get hit?

I even spoke with a lawyer. They told me that my medical bills were not high enough to make a claim, and because they weren't high enough, Toyota wouldn't do anything about it. That wasn't even the point I was trying to make by going to the lawyer. This is unsafe! And clearly, I'm not the only one that had this issue. I've been told the first couple years of the tC had airbags that were too sensitive, that they'd go off if a door was shut too hard. I think they overcompensated big time. This needs to be addressed before someone gets severely injured or worse!

Because your vehicle did not stop instantly after impact, the airbags did not deploy. I understand the vehicle was totaled, but damage is not a good indicator of airbag deployment as vehicles are designed to absorb more impact energy.” This person gave me a number to call to open a case. I called the number 2 days later, emailed them photos and received a phone call with the exact explanation, word for word that I received in the chat. Obviously, a canned response!

Is Toyota somehow exempted from testing their airbags?

I hit the deer head on. The car stopped instantly but, didn't kill the engine. As I got out of the car, the front end damage was very severe. The front bumper was split in two. The front hood was pushed into the windshield. The radiator was crammed into the engine. The car had to be flat bedded out by a tow service. My problem is, the airbags didn't come out. The estimate is $11,000 dollars of damage, and very close to totaled. We filed a complaint with Toyota/Scion. I had my oil changed every 5,000 miles. After oil change at 27,000 miles, I went to Amrillo Texas. I didn't think anything of it to check oil before getting on the road. I drove to Texas, then before we left, went to check the oil in the car, there was hardly any on the dipstick. I had to add oil to the car. I called Toyota dealer in Kansas to see what we could do since we were in Texas, in the middle of nowhere. I had to drive one hour to get a Toyota dealer to look at it and tell us what was wrong. They notated on the receipt and told us on the last oil change that it looked like the oil was very old and dark, and low. I was 2,000 miles left before needing oil change, they said it looked like they didn't put oil back in the car from the last oil change.

Now, I drove it back to Kansas, took it a week later to change the oil and they put my car on surveillance at 1,000 miles. Everything checked out okay, so they said. Well now I checked my oil again, after that closer to time to get an oil change and my car again doesn't have much oil on the dipstick and very low, dark. I told my husband to take it back to the same dealer for the problem and he took it to a different Toyota dealer and it has again noted and now this dealership put my car on 2,000 mile surveillance.

Now, I am frustrated cause no one can tell me what is the problem! I am back to where I was in the first place! Car is burning oil and I have been taking pictures of the dipstick. I'm not sure what else to do! Anyone can help, let me know, or has had the same problem.

2007 Scion TC was bought on 4/10/09 with 39000 mi. I had it 2 hrs., driving down the highway. There was a loud pop noise, and the wind deflector popped up and shattered the closed sun roof starting at the edges along the tracks. Glass fell in and glass pieces with track attached flew off causing hazard to other drivers. I drove straight back to dealer. They took the car back. Once fixed, are they safe or will this happen again? I filed a report with Scion, but they did not seem to care one way or another. The defect needs to be made a recall. I've noted many, many blogs online of the same problem. Daughter is afraid to drive. I call but will another 2007 TC be the answer or a switch to another make and model?

I bought a 2005 Toyota Scion Tc and after buying it a few months down the road a recall on the moon roof was sent to me for the glass to have a protective cover placed on it and that the wind deflector could shatter at highway speeds.

Last night while driving on the highway with the moon roof closed, out of no where the deflector popped up and the moon roof blew out resulting in a loud noise causing a major distraction at night and leaving glass to fall all over me and my car. The car dealer is trying to make me pay for the damage and replacement of glass. Do to the recall is this really suppose to cost me?

Product is a 2007 Scion; the wind deflector screen in front of the moon roof shattered when opened at highway speed (65-70 mph). There are no signs of an initial impact point and the owner's manual has no warnings about using / opening the moon roof 'on the fly'. The dealer is contesting the claim saying it had to have been impacted and refuse to replace the piece ($375 parts + labor!).

The replacement cost, assuming no water damage (it has been raining off and on)is $375 parts + labor. The edges of the deflector were taped over with duct tape to reduce likelihood of water penetration.

friday may 25th 2007 my 19 year old daughter was driving my 2006 scion tc on I95 north when the sunroof shattered for no apparent reason. in a panic and shocked state, after hearing the loud boom..and glass flying in and dropping into the car on her... she pulled over to the side of the road she called me frantically. on my way to meet her on the side of the road, i called my local toyota dealership where I had purchased the car. I had asked if there had been a recall on the sunroof.they told me no. when i arrived at the dealership with the car....(cuts on my foot from the glass....and glass imbedded in my foot.) T

he service person paul, who I had spoken to earlier, told me that a tech had over heard our conversation and said there had been a warning on the sunroof wind deflector...but that my deflector was not broken and that my VIN did not match the recall he went on to try to blame my young daughter he stated that the car was still under warrantee and they would fix it for free IF i gave the dealership and excellent rating he also went on to say...they were all baffled as to how this could happen..and you know how young kids drive....

i am not so concerned about the dealership comments but rather the fact that I had never received information on this recall...or as I understand from my son..there is also a recall on the side airbags..I have never been informed about my daughter is extremely lucky that she did not loose control of the car...she was not injured....other than being scared to death I thank god for that other scion owners need to be warned

The glass deflector before my moon roof on my scion tc shattered. I do not believe anything hit it. I believe it just broke while I was driving on the highway.

While driving home from work one day, my sud-assembly to my moonroof started to shatter. Not only did it shatter for over an hour, it continued to shatter after the car was parked in my garage. I then found out that Toyota had a recall on the exact part that shattered on my car, for the exact reason. owever after calling Toyota they told me to bring my car in to be looked at. Toyota then told me that even though it was the exact same problem, they would not be liable to cover the damage bcause my car had a protective tape over the glass, and they dont know why it shattered like that. The big problem is that when the glass shattered it came apart from the car, and the glass started to fall into the frame of the car! I have two children that ride in the backseat, and thats not safe! So how is Toyota going to recall a part, claim that it's been fixed, and not even acknoldge when the problem still happens. This is a huge safety issue, what if my childs were in the car. I just want to know if anyone else with a Toyota Scion TC (2006) has also had this issue, since the recall that Toyota would not replace.
