Ship A Car is a vehicle-shipping broker that assists both individuals and businesses with moving cars, trucks, motorcycles, RVs, boats, trailers and equipment throughout the U.S. The company has a network of thousands of carriers it uses for various shipping services, including both open and closed transport. Ship A Car has been in business over 10 years and has worked with more than 50,000 clients. It's based in Coral Springs, Florida, and is available to customers in all 50 states.
How does Ship A Car work?
To move your vehicle with Ship A Car, follow these four steps:
- Get an instant quote. Fill out a form and use the online shipping cost calculator to get an instant quote. Or, if you prefer to speak to a shipping specialist, call Ship A Car directly.
- Book your reservation. After receiving your quote, you can book vehicle transport online or over the phone. To complete your reservation, you need to sign a transport contract.
- Your vehicle is assigned to a carrier. Ship A Car assigns your vehicle to the best carrier for your route, shipping type, schedule preference and budget. Your initial payment is due. You then receive specific information about pickup and delivery times and the driver.
- Vehicle is picked up, transported and delivered. Your truck driver arrives on the pickup day, at which point you both inspect your vehicle and sign a bill of lading before it leaves. Once your vehicle arrives at its destination, there’s a final inspection and you sign again to complete the delivery. At this point, you make your final payment directly to the driver.
Ship A Car provides a checklist with tips on how to protect and prepare your car before transport. It includes steps like washing your car (which makes it easier to inspect), checking for leaks, having the appropriate amount of fuel, removing personal items from the interior and removing toll tags.

Ship A Car costs

I talked to about 10 different companies and the gentleman at Ship A Car that I spoke to, Bob, gave me the ins and outs about being specific about what I wanted because I wanted an enclosed truck. I didn't want my car to be moved on and off of it 10 times before it got to me. I knew that it had a long front end and it was low in the front. I wanted somebody not just experienced with sports cars, but also had a truck that accommodated that a little more because I didn't want to see anything cracked on it. I was picky and he walked me through, "Just listen. If you don't go with us, here's what you want to be asking for. Here's what you want to look out for, questions you might want to ask." He ended up coming through on a good price and could set it up right away.
We had a little difficulty setting it up, but that was just the space we were in with a lot of different people that they were hiring behind the scenes. I can't fault Ship A Car for that because it's just the times we're in a little. He stayed in touch with me, found me somebody, and I really like the people that I went through. They kept me up-to-date on where the car was and when it would be coming. The guy that went out to pick it up took 105 pictures of it before we put it on the trailer. That was really good. Then, when it got to me, he said, "Look it over." He gave me whatever time I needed, and the truck had a liftgate on it, so I didn't have to worry about the front end. Clearly, he had it in position to come off first. I was happy with it, and I've already recommended Ship A Car to somebody else. Overall, the car got to me unharmed, in good shape and quicker than had I gone with somebody else at about the same price.

Thank you Kelly. That is a great car and I hope you are enjoying it!

I would recommend Ship A Car, 100%, to anybody. We had a very good experience with them. The first day I spoke with our agent, Lisa, she was very impressive. I understood everything and I totally enjoyed talking to her. She was very professional. I was getting into why we were doing this and she made it personable because she always asked about my kids. I have a daughter that is in college also and she always made me feel like she was interested in what was going on too. I enjoyed her as a representative.
Ship A Car, as our broker, hired Lion Trans. The driver came and we were not impressed with him. When the driver pulled the truck up, it looked like he hit the car in front of it with my son's truck or the truck in front of it. So, it wasn't the best experience as far as the driver. Then, after he picked up our car on March the 4th, I got a phone call on March the 13th from Lion Trans that the driver had hit an overpass and totaled my kid's truck and that they don't know where it happened. He kept driving and took it to the port. We asked Lion Trans not to leave the truck. I had to get in touch with my insurance company and try to work that out. But Lion Trans left the port, took my kid's truck to an apartment building of somebody that they knew, dropped it off, snapped a picture, put the keys in the gas tank, and left it there and said that the insurance company can pick it up from there. It was in an apartment building parking lot for four days.
My insurance company had to send somebody to California to assess it. Lisa called me and was very apologetic. She was awesome and gave me any information and paperwork that I needed to try to help us. Ship A Car gave us the money back for the shipment from the port and gave us our refund of $200 because we had to pay for their services. But Lion Trans refused to give us our transport fee back. They said they did their job and didn't owe us anything.

Thank you for all of your kind words! I really enjoyed working with you both! You were both so patient and lovely to deal with. It is easy to see why your kids are turning out so well, having such dedicated parents. I wish you all only the best!
Sincerely,
Lisa Spiegel

I had a 2008 Toyota 4Runner shipped for about 531 miles from Indianapolis to Charlotte, North Carolina. My sales associate at Ship A Car was named Lisa and she was very sweet. She was very personable and didn't ask me to leave any reviews, but she seemed genuinely interested in me. She didn't try to upsell me and was upfront in letting me know there might be unexpected costs. The costs ended up being a little bit more than what I was quoted for because I had some personal items in the car. But from my understanding, the company couldn't control that and it was up to the transporter who ultimately decides to transport the cars. They're able to not charge you extra for whatever is in your car.
I also had an issue with the merchant that they worked with to have my car delivered. They were not upfront about how they wanted the payment, so it was a little bit off to me. They wanted it in cash, but I would have preferred to do a credit card payment. They said there would be a 1 to 5% small additional charge but it turned out, when I was getting ready to pay the person who delivered my car, it was going to be 15%. The drivers said that they didn't carry any change. So, I paid with cash. But I expressed my concern about that to my Ship A Car, Inc. agent and she told me that she would be getting in touch with them to touch base with them because that wasn't what they told her.
For the pickup in Indiana, I live on a pretty busy residential street and they don't necessarily do door-to-door if they can't do it. So, they had to pick up my car at a different location, an AutoZone parking lot, then they had to drop my car off at a Walmart parking lot. It's not a big deal and I got my car in the end. But it was not what I was expecting from what they advertised. Also, I was advised by my Ship A Car agent to take pictures before my car was dropped off with the person who was going to ship it to me, then take pictures of it afterwards. I was also told that they had the driver who's shipping the car for you look at the car, and they note-take any damages before they pick it up and have the person sign-off on that.
So, I already had damage to my car which was peeling paint, but there was no flat tire or anything missing out of my car during delivery. Plus, I was paranoid, so I put an Apple AirTag on my keys, which they left in the car. So, I knew my keys weren't taken out of my car and I could track my car the entire way. So far, I've not noticed anything wrong with my car since they've dropped it off and it's been about a month now.
I would use Ship A Car again if I was planning on shipping my car again. With a lot of companies this day and age, it was a bit of an older workforce and they could use a little bit of a less sketchier website. But other than that, they're a pretty good service. For a company I've never heard of and that I pretty much found on Google, I was pleasantly surprised with the service and overall happy with their level of customer service and their care. Even though it was a little bit of a last minute when they let me know my car was going to get picked up, throughout the entire process, they were attentive to me. Even though they tried to be a little bit hands-off when they finally got someone to pick up my car, they were still checking in on me. And on the day that my car was supposed to be delivered, they made sure to call and see how my experience went.

Atiyah, I am glad to hear you were so happy with my service. I do my best to take care of all of my customers. I will be happy to help you again in the future. I wish you the best of luck as you go back to school and start a new chapter of your life. Thank you for your kind words.
Sincerely,

Ship A Car, Inc. reached right out to me instantly, and they hit the date that I needed. After the transaction, they were very helpful. The woman who I talked to when I was finalizing everything was excellent. She called me every time and let me know everything. And she emailed everything to make sure that I had records, even though I'm not an email type of person. But I saw them and everything was good. She made sure she called every time, did not just send a blind email. She called me and made sure everything was still good before the car was picked up. And Ship A Car, Inc. was with me through the whole thing.
I was given the courier's number and I talked to him three times. He kept me informed of where he was and when he could be here. He picked it up in California. He said that they could be there the 25th and they got there the 24th, which was nice. They picked it up at the residence of the previous owner. I had them drop it off at my place of work because there's a bigger parking lot. It's easier. He called me when he was close, and called me when he was where he wanted to pull in. And everything was great. He was a good guy. It took 8 to 10 days from the time the courier picked it up until the time I had it. I would use Ship A Car, Inc. again. The gentleman that I purchased the vehicle from called me. He used the courier because he picked up another car a couple of weeks later.

Thank you Rick for the great review you just gave us! It was my pleasure to help you get your beautiful Mustang transported, enclosed from CA-NH. I love hearing how the carriers service was too and so happy he was responsive and a good guy. If you know someone else needing their vehicle shipped give them my direct number. Thanks Kristina

I was contacted by Lisa, and she was exceptional and very personable. I talked with her on the phone, and it felt like I was dealing with somebody I could trust. It took two and a half weeks to get the car picked up. That's partly because there was a bad blizzard in the Midwest at the time and it was over the holidays, so there were not many transporters available. When the job was finally picked up though, I got a call from Lisa and she said that she had been in contact with the trucker and he wanted somewhat more money than what she had offered initially. She suggested a compromise, and I told her to go ahead. The trucker agreed that morning to the compromised price. He picked up the car that afternoon and it was here by about 2pm the next day. It took less than 24 hours to get here. I was just floored.
The trucker had a diesel pickup truck. It was a smaller trailer, and it was just one level. My car was the only one on that route, and the only snag was the trucker contacted me about 15 minutes out, saying that he was very close to my house and he was about to drop off the car. I was at work. I didn't expect him until the following day, so I had to tie up things and get here quickly. Although the communication could have been a little better on his end, he was a really nice guy. He was Russian and spoke very little English so maybe that was why he didn't want to call me. By the time I got home, the car was already in the driveway, and the trucker had the paperwork ready to go. Everything went really well, and I would highly recommend Ship A Car. I’d tell people to talk to Lisa.

Mark, thank you for your kind words! It was a challenging time of year to get the job done, but we did it! It was a pleasure working with you and I appreciated your patience. I hope we can work together again, it was my pleasure!
Sincerely,
Lisa Spiegel

I bought a car from a dealer in Virginia and I found three or four shipping companies online and I got quotes. Jonathan, the fellow that I dealt with at Ship A Car, was the only one that bothered to call me and asked me if I had gotten the quotes, which came very quickly. He asked me a little bit about my situation and what I was looking to do. Jonathan was outstanding. At first, the deal wasn't going through and I talked to him and told him I couldn't book it. He said it was fine and to keep the quote. He said he'd check with me in a day or two and see where I was at. He called back the next day to check what they could do for me.
I did put the deal together and the car got picked up and delivered here to Milwaukee. But the car that I got was a piece of junk. I fought with the dealer for a few days and they agreed to take it back. I called Jonathan again and he immediately said that he has a driver in the area. He said he'd contact me. I wanted to get the car back to the dealer right away and Jonathan called me back about 20 minutes later. He said the driver that delivered the car was in Milwaukee. He asked how soon is the car ready and I told him I could get to the pickup in about an hour. He was right on top of it and took marvelous care of me. He kept me apprised of everything, including the driver situation. We got the car shipped back and I had a follow-up email from him letting me know that the car had been delivered. Jonathan is amazing. I wish when I had my business, I had five or six guys like that.

Thank you for your kind words. We are happy to have exceeded your expectations for shipping! I am sorry that the car you had purchased was not to your standard but when you find we look forward to helping getting it transported to you. Regards, Jonathan

I was impressed with Ship A Car’s ability to get someone to do the job. You tell them your needs and they put it on the board. It goes out for bidding but they'll tell you exactly what the situation is and what your options are. Everything went smoothly in setting up the transport. The sales rep was good. There were a couple of bumps in the road about stuff not being spelled right but we got that corrected quickly. The rates are kinda high but that's correlating with the high fuel cost right now. It could have been better if there was a little more flexibility on the price. But I’ve had good luck with Ship A Car and the driver was great to work with. He got there ahead of time and answered my text and phone calls. He did exactly as I told him to do and stayed in contact with me.

Mike,
I appreciate the kind words.Communication is key, I’m happy the driver stayed in contact with you.
Let me know when you’re ready to ship the next vehicle.

Setting up my transport was fine but one thing didn't go as well. Before I gave the vehicle to the semi driver, I washed and vacuumed it. I got a call from the semi driver who told me that I needed to pay him an extra $100 to wash the car so that the shipping company would accept it. It was not in a covered transport. So any dirt would have come from the semi driver. I called the shipper who said, "Yeah. Evidently, that's the case."
The vehicle got to me incredibly dirty inside and out. If it was sitting on a ship for a week and a half, that would make sense. There were no dents or scratches but I had paid someone an extra $100 to wash it inside and out. Also, it's an electric car and I had charged it to 75% of the battery and it had a range of 55 miles. When I got it, it had been driven quite a bit because it was down to a 30% charge and a range of 20 miles. I thought the semi driver drove it to go wash it but that's a lot of range to take just to go find a carwash.

We have noted your experience for our report as part of the record. We apologize for the inconvenience this rare circumstanced has caused, and have made changes to our terms with carriers to better address this moving forward. Unfortunately the driver had to address this in order for the second carrier to accept this so they could complete the transport to Hawaii. Thank you very much for your feedback. Thank you for the opportunity to help with your transport from Virginia to Hawaii. Regards, Jonathan

I did an internet search and obtained quotes online and through some phone calls. At one point, I even used a broker service that explored a multitude of different car carriers and sent me a bunch of different quotes based on a single form that I had filled out. I ended up using Ship A Car, which was one that I came across on the internet myself. Setting up the transport was easy. I dealt with one guy, and I told him the make and model and details for the timeframe. Once we agreed on the price, he said that he had a driver who had a spot on the vehicle that was available to come at a certain time and date. The person showed up and loaded up the truck, and away it went.
The driver did their inspection, and we did our inspection, documenting it with our own photographs. They walked it all down and had a form that noted all of the different scratches and dings that were present before transport. The transport was projected to take 4 to 5 days, and it took around two days. The quote was spot on. They said it was a specific dollar amount, and that was what it came out to be. I also did have an option for extra insurance coverage.

Thanks for your kind words. Glad to hear driver was professional, detailed and made better than estimated time. It was a pleasure working you. Take care, Jonathan

Ship A Car has been good to me. This is my sixth car shipping with them now. They're reliable. There are so many companies that would take your money, and they won't deliver or they would tell you different stories. After the second time they came through and delivered, I don't trust anybody else to do it. So every time I need anything, I call them directly. The customer service is good. I have one go-to lady that I talk to. Her name is Christine. If I don't talk to her, I don't feel comfortable. So, I let her handle all my stuff. Price is also very competitive. Ship A Car is a very good company. My latest experience was good. I was looking for other people to ship my car, and I remembered that I had Christine at Ship A Car. So, I called her and she found me a carrier and got that shipped. It came on time. They waited because we weren't even there when they got there. I didn't have any issues. The driver was cool.

It so wonderful having great customers like you, Mike! I want to say “Thank you” very much for the awesome review. I think the communication is important and I feel we communicate well on transporting your vehicles. I look forward to doing many more moves for you. You have my number, call me when you’re ready for the next one. Have a great day! – Kristina at Ship A Car Inc.
