I bought a Nissan Sentra 2014 in June 2014. Car had 30 miles when I bought it. I drove 90 miles a day to work; mostly highway mileage. I had notice that my RPM kept going way up when driving the car, especially if I stop and had to move again. Then I started to hear a rattle noise. Lucky me I took the car to my mechanic. He told me that the transmission was bad. I took it to Nissan dealer. They confirmed that it was the transmission. I barely made the warranty. My mileage is at 59,173.

I have read all of the consumer comments on here and before moving forward with my story, I wanted to let everyone know that I am the only consumer reported whom has taken this story to network news, as a matter of fact it airs tonight at 5 central standard time on ABC channel 7 Chicago. The reporters did mention that if more people come forward with their issues regarding their Nissan's, the general public could be made aware of the unreliability and warranty flaws of this car company. Unfortunately, one of me will not be enough to bring this car company down or get a big wig, such as Carlos Ghosn to reconsider recalling all the issues experienced with Nissan Sentras. I ask all of you to please reconsider.

Ok, on to my story. This is my second Nissan after having a terrible experience with a 2008 Nissan Versa; a lemon from the moment I drove it off the showroom floor. My 2011 Nissan Sentra SR now has a deactivated air bag from sensors that went bad in the passenger seat. I went through the escalation process twice at Nissan Motor USA. I also received a claim number just to hear a few days later that Nissan will not cover the problem, even though it is a manufacturing defect. I wrote a heartfelt letter to the CEO - Carlos Ghosn requesting for assistance with this matter just to find out that his emails go to an overseas division, and is forwarded right back to Nissan USA. There is no escalation process through Nissan so my last alternative was to report it to ABC channel 7 news in Chicago. They took my story, it airs tonight and their final words were, "if more people move forward with this, it can be made into a bigger story."

I bought a 2013 Nissan Sentra, and just recently start giving me problems with the transmisison at about 82,000 miles. But today was the worst, because I had a lot of places to go to because of my work, I was not able to because the car had no power. And even though I put the pedal to the metal it was not going any faster than may be 5 to 10 miles. And as soon as started to pick up speed, if I got to a stop or a red light, same thing happened again. I'm going to the dealer tomorrow, but with everything I've been reading from other people in this site, I'm not looking forward to what they're going to say. Wish me luck!!!

Nissan Sentra 2013 - Filled car with regular gas on a Saturday. Car then would not start. Towed it to the nearby Nissan dealer. They claimed it was the fuel pump. Replaced the fuel pump. When I picked up the car, it REEKED of gasoline. Did not dissipate until one week later. Then one week later, the check engine light came on and gas cap loose light. Returned car to Nissan dealer. They said they had to reprogram the computer/chip. OK done in 15 minutes. One week later, check engine light is on again. I am furious! I drive over 300 miles per week to work and do not feel safe anymore in this car.

The mileage is great comfort, great trunk space, etc. Wonderful. Ever since the fuel pump was installed, I have had major annoyance with this. Going back to dealer tomorrow. This is the 3rd trip to fix same trouble. This stinks. Never had a car do this and I have been driving for over 45 years!! Will NEVER EVER BUY ANOTHER ONE!!!

I purchased my Sentra SR 2014 about two years ago, 38k miles. A few weeks back took in the car for the CVT reprogramming of software, apparently a voluntary recall. After they reprogrammed the CVT software I noticed the engine was vibrating more than usual. Took it into the dealer and they told me that I needed new tires, that it was not worth rebalancing the old tires. Fine, I did that. Nope, vibration persisted. I took the car back, they told me they could not reproduce the problem. The vibration persisted. One day it occurred to me try and rev the engine while in neutral, Sure enough, around 2200 RPM, there is a strange vibration. Took the car back to Coral Springs Nissan, in Coral Springs Fl. I showed them what I had discovered and they kept my car to assess.

After a full day, they told me they really didn't know what was causing the vibration. They did a data dump from the car's computer and sent it to Nissan. I was then told I would have to take my car back until a Nissan Inspector was able to assess the car's issue. The service manager told me that my car may need a new engine. I was livid, brand new car, only 38K, really a new engine? Well, the day came when the inspector was in town. I left my car... I get a call several hours later that the car was "operating normal". They claim they test drove three other Sentras and felt the same vibration.

I am convinced this has to do with the CVT reprogramming. My car was revving perfectly fine before they did this reprogramming. Now I am afraid to drive long distances based on the horror stories I have read about the CVT transmission issues. They also told me that it was safe to drive the car, that it was all normal. Wow, a 2014 car with a really bad vibration "normal operation." I am not a happy consumer. Anyone else with this issue?

This is a new 2015 Nissan Sentra S model with only 1100 miles on it. I have made two test trips in my new car to see what it would do in our mountains here in North Carolina. On I-26 north, I had the car in the economy mode of operation - overdrive - cruise control on and set at 65 mph. Car had some issues of straining while going up these mountains for some unknown reason. Engine and transmission didn't seem like it was working together in unison. Next trip was I-40 west and mostly flat all the way into Tennessee done the same exact way. Again, the straining of the engine and transmission was still noticed on this trip also.

Took the car into the dealership where I bought it new to have them check the computer and the transmission. Upon their inspection, they said that they could find no codes that would cause a problem that I should be worried about. Car mileage isn't that great right now due to this issue also. Both trips shown at 29 mpg of which I am not happy at all about this. Nissan says that car needs to be broken in first in order to receive better mileage. For a new car, the performance isn't what I expected from this high price car.

Updated on 04/01/2016: I contacted the BBB AUTO LINE for help with this issue. Thanks to them and their investigation into my complaint, I was able to get a GOLD EXTENDED SERVICE CONTRACT for 7 years and 100,000 miles beyond the service warranty of 3 years and 36,000 miles. It is a real shame that Nissan's customer quality of care service team couldn't and wouldn't do anything at all to help out on my complaint without having to get the BBB involved. It really says nothing at all about Nissan. So all of you that have service issues with your dealership, please try using this auto line for your much needed help. It's well worth the time.

1st problem. Under 35k miles. The paint job is thin. Any little piece of dust would scratch or chip the paint. They would only touch up the chips but never rectify the problem. 2nd problem. 37k miles. Then the white paint started turning a brownish tint. Still no resolution. Was told I was now out of warranty. 3rd problem. 48k miles. Key fob wasn't working. I previously had another party put in a remote starter. They wouldn't look into the problem until the remote starter was removed. Had it removed. Paid for dealership to run diagnostics to find nothing wrong. They replaced the battery and that solved the problem.

So I am now out of a remote starter and diagnostics fee all because they didn't want to replace the fob battery in the first place. 4th problem. Around the same time, my passenger side door handle starts falling off. It’s plastic. Imagine that. But again out of warranty so there's nothing they can do. 5th problem 54k miles. Transmission blew. Thank goodness for the power train warranty up to 75k. Long story short... Trading it in ASAP and I WILL NEVER BUY A NISSAN AGAIN!!!

I purchased my Sentra the summer of 2014. I drive a lot and have put 34k miles on the car. All mainly highway. November 22 of 2015 I start my car and I immediately hear a strange rotational sound coming from the engine bay. As I accelerated the noise became louder and lower as I decelerated. I work on piston aircrafts "I know that this is not a normal sound that is coming from my Sentra." I immediately took it to the dealer because I was not going to wait and see what was going to happen later on. The dealer that I took my car to has always been great with awesome staff. I drove the car with one of the service members and they identified the sound as not being normal. They gave me a loaner for the weekend and on the Monday morning I get a call. "We ordered you a new transmission, it should be here in the next couple of day." WAIT, WHAT? A NEW TRANSMISSION, that is a Huge RED FLAG.

I could care less how long it's going to take to get here. Why does a 34k transmission need to be replaced? There something really wrong with this picture. I did not trade my Chevy CRUZE for a Nissan Sentra to be told, "You need a new transmission at 34k miles." I'm happy that it is still under warranty, but after reading so many recent reviews 2013-2015 that the CVT transmissions are being replaced with less than 10k, 20k, 30k, 50k or 100k. The engineers at Nissan have really screwed up and the consumers are being screwed over. I am going to explore my options. But I know for a fact that I am going to be upside down on my next car. I'm not happy at all. Especially if I have to potentially replace my transmission again at 60k miles because of faulty engineering and spend $3700 to have it replaced. I was better off staying with my Chevy.

I took it back to Kim's Nissan and was told they could not duplicate the problem yet when I drop off the parking lot the car had the same issues. I drove it another 1500 miles and the transmission is totally gone again in this car. I filed for arbitration on the first install of the transmission and was denied. I am going to file for arbitration again. I will not trade this piece of junk in and eat the loss. Nissan should have to cover the loss... They made a piece of junk!!!

I purchased my 2010 Sentra new. It now has 125,000 miles. I began to notice certain symptoms so I took my car for diagnostics at two different Nissan dealerships. I told the first dealership I thought it might be the transmission. They kept my car all day and could not recreate the problem. They told me that there were known transmission issues on my car. They told me I had an extended warranty of 125,000 miles. When I said with my luck they'd figure it out at 126,000 miles, the service guy said they'd honor it anyway.

I later took my car to another Nissan dealership for the same issues. They also could not diagnose my problem. Again for the same issues, I took my car to the second dealership for a third time. The service guy told me if I didn't have a light, they couldn't diagnose my issue anyway. He said it was unlikely that there was a real problem and they would just take my money again and return the car the same way. He told me not to worry about it and I should be fine to drive the car. I left without having them look at the car again.

On a long distance trip, my car began to decelerate. My engine light came on. When I got to my location I had the code read, "P0744 Torque converter clutch circuit". John from Nissan consumer affairs blew me off and said the warranty actually ended at 120,000. I argued that I was within warranty each time I bought in my car with those symptoms that turned out to be transmission related. He said if they couldn't diagnose the problem, it didn't matter. He got nasty and told me he was the highest authority in all of Nissan and that there was nobody else to appeal to.

I was about to purchase a second car. I wanted what would have been my third Nissan in a row. I have now gone, "Team Honda" instead. I was really reluctant to go with another type of brand, but it's been a whole week and all is good. I have already successfully stopped a friend from purchasing a Nissan. Sadly, I still have to get the Sentra fixed. I really think Nissan should treat their customers better.

He stated Nissan is aware of the problems and they AREN'T doing anything about the transmission because they can't seem to narrow or troubleshoot where the problem is in the transmission. I have had my car for 2yrs and this is crazy to think about replacing the vehicle. When you replace the vehicle, they are going to add the balance into another car which is NOT fair. My car idle up going into second gear and airbag light is on for the passenger seat and no one is in it. It is making a ticking sound. I am so pissed off right now, it is crazy. I live in Missouri. I purchased a new 2015 Nissan Sentra. The stereo has not worked properly since the car was delivered/purchased. The radio stations are fuzzy and the satellite radio cuts out constantly. I took the car back to the dealership and reported the issue within the first week. The car has been in for the same issue more than 5 times now, over 5 months. First, I was told that everything checked out with the diagnostic. I brought it in again a few days later. Service manager says "Ok, we've had a few that we had to replace the head units in, but that usually takes care of the issue." This should have been a clue. I waited 2 weeks, the service manager at the dealership ordered the wrong replacement head unit. Another 2 weeks, they replaced the head unit. It was SO LOUD!!!

The ringer and message tones were so loud and would run us out of the vehicle. The stereo volume was amplified about 4x the normal and still has the same problem. Sales manager says he'll get another replacement head unit. 2 weeks go by, no call. I go into the dealership and ask where my new head unit is. 2 days later I receive a call, no new replacement on the way. They want to try other remedies through tech support.

Seriously!? 2 weeks to find out that they could have just called into tech support. The dealership has to reprogram the unit. Volume level corrected, reception issue still not resolved. Next, the antenna was replaced. I returned an hour after picking up the vehicle, reception still cutting out. Next step, all wiring from the head unit to the antenna replaced. This is the last time that I allow the dealership to repair the vehicle. I parked the car and requested that Nissan repurchase the vehicle. They've damaged the headliner and scratched my steering wheel (which the dealership has agreed to replace). My brand new car no longer feels like a brand new car. The stereo in question was purchased as part of a $3000 upgraded sat/nav/stereo package.

I have already reported the matter to Nissan customer relations and arbitration. They escalated the matter to the repurchase department and after a week came back and said that they would not repurchase the car, but that they would honor all warranties. My next step is to contact lemon law attorneys in my area. The law here states 3+ times in for servicing the same warranty repair is a lemon. I have documentation showing 5 and another appointment next week. When I asked the dealership service manager what they are going to do next, he shrugged his shoulders and said they would call Nissan tech line and ask them, when I brought the car in. Good grief! I now, no longer even want them to replace the car, I just want out.

Nissan said, "It's a safety for the transmission," but there has to be a problem because it's not normal when a semi passes you on the freeway! It is also not safe to be driving 80 miles an hour and then your car dropped down to second gear to 65 mph! At one point I can only go 50 miles an hour?? The car has 90,000 due to work traveling, but still, I do not expect a car, 2 years old, for the transmission to go out. And, Nissan said it was not their responsibility and offered no assistance in repairs - It's a $3500+ fix. I'm not happy with Nissan and will probably never buy another one. I was told by Colby my car has low compression in cylinder #2 and the engine needs to be replaced at a cost of $7686.00. I was instructed by the Nissan dealership to contact Consumer Affairs for assistance since it was unusual that a vehicle with 21K miles needs a new engine. On 3 September 2015 I spoke to Mark in the Consumer Affairs office and was assigned a case number. The next day Megan called from the same office and I explained to her my situation.

She simply read from a script, repeating over and over again, that my vehicle is out of warranty and Nissan would not assist me. She did offer me a discount of $500-$1000 if I was willing to purchase a new Nissan vehicle. Why in the world would I spend my hard earned money on another Nissan knowing this company does not stand behind their product? I have a 2007 Nissan Sentra that I bought 3 years ago. I take care of the car like I should. Over the past year I have had endless problems with the car. First I had 4 flat tires within 2 months, the battery died on me 4 separate times. The last time it died it turned out that I needed a fuel pump replaced. I also replaced the battery. The brakes were also replaced. The air condition also blew out randomly one day. These are all problems that could've just occurred. I had a trip to Chicago, a 5-hour drive, that I was preparing for. I had an oil change right before. On my way back I started smelling oil, I was 2 hours away from home. My speedometer had froze at 0, once on the way up here and another on the way back. I stopped to put in gas and the smell of oil was stronger. I decided to call my mechanic so I could go asap as soon as I got into town.

The car started making a weird noise so I decided to pull in a gas station when the car just "rolled". It wouldn't accelerate anymore. It was undrivable. I had to call a tow truck to get it the nearest mechanic. There they told me the transmission was out. While I was waiting I looked up transmission problems with Sentras and found that the warranty had been extended on CVT transmissions. When I called to the dealership near the car shop they denied it at first. I called the dealership in Lexington, where I lived, and they confirmed what I found. I then called back to one in Indiana and said yes it was true if my car had the CVT transmission. My car fortunately was under warranty.

Fast forward 3 weeks later, my car was at the dealership and I had to get a rental, which neither Nissan or insurance will pay for, and I am back in a rental. Why? Because the dealership in Indiana called me to tell me that the transmission mount was broken but they didn't have the part and that it was safe to drive a 1.5 trip back home. I picked up the car today and on my way back I smelled oil. I went straight to the dealership in Lexington and they told me the drive belt was completely broken and was severely leaking oil. Now I have a rental for almost another week and another $2000 out. I do not know if there is anything I can but clearly Nissan does not make reliable cars. As soon as I get the car back I am selling it.

So all that work later and another diagnosis by someone I trust yields a 2000$ fix of a burnt valve. How expensive will any further praises be! That's 2011 Nissan Sentra with 105,000 highway miles.

I purchased a 2013 Nissan Sentra and after only 40 thousand miles and less than 3 years the transmission went out. They told me there would only be 15 thousand miles warranty left on the new transmission they put in the car not the 60 thousand miles that was on the original transmission which I thought was horrible. If this transmission does not last you will have to put money out of my own pocket. Plus I have seen on this website lots of people that received extended warranties on transmissions that they had replaced in their cars. I was told it was a case to case choice.

What the heck is wrong with my case? I am very upset that they have a defect in their transmissions and are not recalling them. They won't do that because they know that they have to replace them all and give the factory original warranty. I will so research via internet before I purchase another car especially a Nissan. I also am leasing a 2014 Nissan Sentra and it has 5000 miles on it and already clunking sound when shifting from park to drive. So you know there is a major problem.

I bought a Nissan Sentra 2.0 SV 3 weeks ago in Campinas, Sao Paulo, Brazil and the radio with Bluetooth is a very old version. The bluetooth does not accept recent cellphones. Only cellphone which are not produced anymore so you can receive. You will need to use the cellphone to make calls, which results in fines, if the traffic guard catch you. If Nissan sells a model 2015/2016 you expect to have a bluetooth which is updated to new phones. The Nissan SAC informed me that they cannot do anything. With other words it my problem, when you buy a Nissan 2015/2016, I did not expect this from a car company like Nissan. Before you buy a Nissan Sentra 2.0 SV you need to check first whether your phone is compatible to the Bluetooth, otherwise you will get a car with an old bluetooth system. Also the headlights are not very bright and had to change them with Neon lights. It is very very dangerous driving this car at night with the genuine headlights.

Bought a 2012 Sentra from a Nissan dealer on May 28, 2015. Initially I noticed that a front tire kept going low. Next I hear a rattling noise when I accelerate and I get a banging sound when turning the wheel. I have had the car 6 weeks and have been back to the dealer 4 times. They agree that the tire keeps going low and say that it needs front struts. They also claim to have checked exhaust hangers saying that was where the rattling noise was from. To make a long story short to date they have repaired nothing. The car still rattles, the struts still bang, and the tire continues to go low setting off the sensor. Now they say I have to wait until they have a loaner vehicle so that they can fix the car. That's the dealership and I have only 2 weeks to use the lemon law in my state.

Next I have a problem with Nissan Finance. I had to go online to find out about payment information because Nissan has yet to provide anything. I sent a check on July 5, the payment was due July 12 and did not clear my bank so I called them. Hold time wasn't bad, only about 30 minutes. However I was told by the person that I spoke with that I was assigned a paperless account which was news to me. That's why they didn't send you a bill and maybe the reason my payment hasn't been processed, she said?

Anyway they are suppose to be sending me a billing statement which could take up to 45 days. In the meantime I'm told that I can make payments online or by phone at a fee of $12.95. Yes, Nissan charges a fee to make a payment on your Nissan vehicle new or used even when Nissan screws up the account to begin with. AT this point this car has been nothing but a problem both with the dealership and Nissan finance. (NMAC) I have no intention of waiting 2 more weeks for them. I'm calling an attorney today. DON'T BUY A NISSAN.

I took it to the dealership, of course they said there was nothing wrong with it. I took it 2 more times as I was trying to prove to them there was something wrong with it. Still they didn't do anything. Finally one day I was driving to work when my car stopped speeding, the fastest it would go was 35 mph!

I was on my way to work, I turned around and drove it to the dealership with my hazard lights on. Finally they saw what was wrong with it. At 10k they changed the transmission. But the problem is still happening! I have taken it in there many times now and of course they keep saying there is nothing wrong with it. This car is unsafe! I bought a brand new 2015 Nissan Sentra in Feb 2015 at Metro Nissan in Redlands, Ca. In 5 months I've realized the transmission is not running well. As with other complaints. When I come off the freeway it starts jerking as if I popped the clutch, it's an automatic BTW. It has also done this when simply leaving a parking lot. Also when accelerating from a stop the transmission is really rough. As if there is no 1st gear. Also when I put the car in reverse sometimes, not all the time, it clunks really loudly and rough. No rhyme or reason. Took it to the dealership today and of course everything is fine. No codes showing up. Running smoothly. So I guess I'm lying.

Another common complaint. The airbag light goes on and off periodically while someone is sitting in the passenger seat. According to the dealer a shift in weight will cause this and is normal. Hmmm. That's never been normal in my Honda, or Chevy. But they today recalibrated it. My running lights have never come on while the light sensor is on auto. According to the dealer there now on and there's nothing wrong with the sensor. But for 5 months they have never been on. Interesting. Why not just admit that you obviously had to do something to the sensor to make sure your lights now come on when they're supposed to. That is in fact if they are on.

I'm picking up my vehicle now. I will update everyone. I do have the extended warranty. Thank goodness. But it's disappointing to think that I'm probably going to have serious issues with my brand new car. I actually love it. However based on my experience and these complaints on this website, I would not recommend Nissan at all. And I'm going to educate myself on the lemon law just be safe. I was told when I purchased my vehicle that in order to lemon law the car it has to be seen at the SAME dealership for the SAME issue 3x.

Purchased this car new Oct 2014. Noticed a vibration issue when I got home from dealership (live about 100 miles from dealer). When I drive in normal mode at a steady speed of 20, 40, 60 or 80 kilometers an hour there is a distinct vibration felt through the steering wheel, through the accelerator pedal and the chassis. You can also hear a noise from the vibration. Worse in ECO. Dealer replaced the transmission with not even 500 km on the odometer. Made absolutely no difference as vibration still there. Worse on cold days. The vibration can be alleviated somewhat by driving in sport mode.

Took the car to another dealer - they agreed the issue was there and followed up with Nissan Tech Support. Tech Support reviewed the data that the dealer recorded (from the diagnostic tool) and stated the transmission was operating properly. Of course they never took into account the tool doesn't record or notice noise or vibration).

My take is that the engine and transmission are not properly matched ie: at a steady speed of say 60 kilometers an hour in normal mode the rpms are only slightly over 1000 - they need to be about 1300-1350 to smooth out whichever one is vibrating. Will take the car back to the dealer to see if they can adjust the computer to put out more rpms at low speeds. This issue has been extremely aggravating - the only reason I bought this car was the great experience I have had with my 2008 Sentra (base model) that has had no issues whatsoever. At the least the new Sentra should have had at minimum the 2.0L engine. Anyone else with this problem?

It continued, I knew this was not normal. Called service again, took car back, drove with them in the car.... Said they didn't feel it. I told them I'm going to keep coming back. 3rd time, took the car... Finally a service adviser said "I FEEL IT." Ok now to find out. So they then said it was the software and that it needed to be reset. I want to say they called it the EPC or EPU, something like that. So it got "fixed". No it didn't.

Continued to do the shudder, jutter, whatever you want to call it. 4th time at dealer.... Reset the software again. 5th time at dealer TODAY.... So they said they were bringing a engineer from NISSAN out.... Oh also this past weekend, the car started making a funny noise. Ok so they now are saying it's the TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE and that they replaced the software. If it doesn't work to take it back, next step would be to replace the transmission. This is not good. Paying this amount of money for a brand new car, and possibly needs a new transmission with less than 10k miles.

Whenever I gradually increase my speed from a crawl or stop up to 40 miles an hour, the transmission will suddenly shoot from 2000 rpm up to 3000 rpm and then back down to 2000 rpm. I am nervous that this is the beginning of a much larger issue. I have taken the car back to the dealership and the service dept. informs me that the car checks out fine and that this is typical with the CVT transmission in the 2014 and 2015 Sentra's, because it is a two stroke engine as compared to a four stroke in the Altima's. It is annoying as hell.

I have been back to the dealership twice and get different opinions with everyone I speak with. While at the dealership the 2nd time I test drove another Sentra SR and it had a minor jump of 250 rpm's at 50 mph. I was told if I was truly unhappy with the car, I should open a case with the Corporate headquarters. I like everything about the car except this problem. What are my options?

After leaving SeaWorld in San Diego on 12/20/14, my wife had our Sentra start lurching on the freeway. She called me (I was ahead of her on the I-15 in our Pathfinder) and we got off the freeway in Escondido. As we left the freeway, she heard a bang in the engine compartment. My adult daughter and my two granddaughters (ages 22 months and 7 months) were in the car with my wife. My 83 year old (heart patient) father, my future son in law and my 3 year old grandson were in the Pathfinder. We were all now in a darkened parking lot in Escondido; not a great area to break down. I drove the lurching Sentra to a restaurant parking lot and called for a tow truck, as I thought the transmission went out. My wife drove everyone home in the Pathfinder and I stayed in San Diego with my brother.

Mossy Nissan said that a manifold sensor was missing, that I must have removed it or that my mechanic removed it and that I needed to replace the entire manifold for over $700. This is because they said that since the sensor was missing, they had nothing to turn in for the warranty. I told them that was the point; the sensor must have fallen off on the I-15. I asked them to follow the logic; why would I work on a new car that's under warranty. I told them I wouldn't, I would have it taken in for warranty work.

Nissan North America was absolutely no help. The part was on back order and 3 1/2 weeks later, the manifold was replaced. Mossy Nissan called me to tell me the repair would be done the next day as the manifold came in 'early.' The next morning, my work phone had a voicemail from Mossy saying that there was a 'drivability issue' with the Sentra. They were supposed to call, but didn't (once again). My wife reached them two days later. The lady on the phone said our car was 'in transit.' My wife asked where our car was going and the lady told her that it was on the way to their dealership. My wife told her "honey, you've had my car for almost a month, what are you talking about?"

The lady then corrected herself and said that the transmission went out. I'm angry because I diagnosed that 4 weeks ago on a darkened Escondido street with 3 grandkids along for the thrill. Mossy finally called and said that the transmission is under warranty and that if I contact Nissan North America and open a claim, that they would recommend that they pay for my rental car.

Total cost after discount for the manifold will be $459 when it should be under warranty. Cost of the rental will be between $300 and $400. I support my three grandchildren, my adult daughter and my wife and couldn't afford all this. I had to borrow the money from my father. Now I have to fight to have his money returned. The price of not purchasing another Nissan product; PRICELESS!

Lemon 2010 Nissan Sentra SR - I bought the car brand new. I heard a knocking noise and took it in and the dealership said they had to replace the engine. What? This was a brand new car. I bought a brand new car so I would not have to deal with any mechanical issues. Not even a year later, I hear the knocking noise again and take it in and they inform me that the engine needs to be replaced again! I complained and Nissan extended the warrant. My warranty expired last week and guess what? My car died twice while I was driving 55 mph. Just died with no warning. Luckily, I did not get hit by anyone and had to shove it into park and restart it.

I took it into the dealership and they informed me that I need a new transmission and torque converter (sp?) - $3,300! I complained to Consumer Affairs and I'm asking them to buy it back. Meanwhile, I have proceeded with a Lemon Law attorney because it is obvious that I got a lemon. The most ridiculous car I have ever had. If you are considering buying a Nissan, then educate yourself on the Lemon Law because you are going to need it. Anyone else have the same problems??

I purchased an older used 2002 Nissan Sentra SE-R. While the offer was too good to pass up on, I did my research on it and am mechanically inclined and it is a far, far more problematic vehicle in comparison to some of the Nissan's I drove from the late 90's. The SE-R engine, as well as the normal 1.8L have several serious glaring issues such as sucking up loose screws from the intake manifold, inhaling loose materials from the pre-catalytic converters, and even less serious things like defective fuel pressure regulators. While these issues are fairly easy to fix, Nissan did not properly recall or publish information about them and the effort they put in to fixing it over the following 10+ years clearly shows by the reviews here. These are not safety hazards and therefore no recalls were issued, simply service bulletins.

Overall, unless you know a lot about mechanical work and can deal with downtime, unreliability and/or expensive repairs, you should not be buying a Nissan Vehicle from their near bankruptcy (2000-2001) without properly doing a lot of research and review reading. The amount of issues I had with my 1997 Maxima SE over the period of 9 years was a mere fraction of the things I've uncovered after 3 weeks of owning this 2002 Nissan Sentra SE-R.

I put the car in reverse and started backing down the driveway. Everything was fine when all of a sudden the car turned off. I tried multiple times to brake and it wouldn't stop. My car went down the driveway which is situated on a hill and hit a utility pole. Once the car bounced off the pole, it came to a stop. I placed the car in park and tried to restart the car.

It took me 2 times of pushing the start button before the car would start again. Called Nissan dealership and the Nissan headquarters. They finally sent someone out to test the car which was probably a month or more after I reported this issues. Just got a call yesterday to say after testing the car Nissan couldn't find anything wrong with car. And on the day of the incident the car was working properly. Tell me how they know when they weren't in the car. I guess someone has to die before they take blame for selling defective cars.

Bought a brand new 2008 Nissan Sentra. Brakes/Tires are the responsibility of the owner and driving conditions. But most other equipment should be warranted by the manufacturer especially when you trust them and put in thousands of dollars. I've had all oil changes done according to service schedule at dealerships.

    Minor issues:
    - Entire bottom was rusted. Saw it at the 1st service around 3K miles. Dealer said that's normal and most cars have it. Really, for a brand new car?
    - Breaks started squeaking at 30k miles. Mechanic said that the pads have 70% life left but the rotors are uneven. Got the rotors resurfaced.

    - Passenger visor cover broke thrice. (I've stopped fixing it). The plastic is cheap and hinges delicate.

At 65K miles, exhaust sounded like a motorcycle. Dealer wanted $125 just to look at it. Contacted Nissan - typical response to contact dealer. Went to local mechanic to diagnose the issue. He jacked up the car and showed me a small hole in the pipe connecting muffler to the rest of the exhaust and said it's a common issue with manufacturing. He in fact worked for Nissan a few years ago. The rest of the pipe is completely rusted. Went to the dealer. He quoted $600 just to replace the muffler + extra for any other issue he finds.

I got a new muffler installed for less than half at a local mechanic. The car runs smooth, but I'm afraid there are more repairs to come. One good thing is that the engine runs smooth. If Nissan wants to maintain a reputation, it must stand by its product and fix flaws arising from engine/exhaust. I'm buying a new car this month and it's not going to be a Nissan.

Even on the paperwork after this 4th time, it was stated that both cars have the same issue. There's one relatively minor issue that I think should be fixed for free by Nissan: the plastic wheel covers, all four, have partially peeled. I saw people complaining about the same thing in Florida, so it's not CT weather-related. And the black paint also on all four wheels has been replaced by a rust cover--street salt could be the culprit used to justify that, but if no other car of mine has any trace of rust, I can only think it was a bad paint job.

This is my second Nissan Sentra. One is an S (2007) and the other an SL (2009). Both were bought new at Maroone Nissan in Pembroke Pines (Miami), FL. I have never had any serious problems with either vehicle; they are extremely reliable cars, just normal wear and tear, brakes, batteries, etc. BTW, I also own a 2011 Nissan Versa with 40k. My biggest gripe about all three cars are the low tire pressure lights which drive women crazy (my wife and daughter). My workaround? I removed the bulbs from the instrument panel and now the light never comes on.

As I read the articles, I am convinced that a) People have no idea what they are talking about, or b) They are taking their cars to idiots to repair. Some folks have a short between the seat and steering wheel, if you get my drift. Yes, the Sentra is a noisy and cantankerous engine. Its not from solid lifters as some wing nut suggested, but its because Nissan used a timing chain and not a timing belt, so it does clatter. The mufflers and exhaust are perfect, not sure where the criticism of the rust came from. I agree that their tyrannys are not the best, I personally don't like the rubber band CVT, but no failures. I changed the fluid in both, used Mobile 1 synthetic ATF and a new filter, good stuff. Changed the plugs on both cars at 100k and they were white, could have left them in another 100k. Changed the hoses, belts, and flushed and filled the cooling system (installed one of those Prestone reverse flush kits on the inlet heater hose).

One car has 101k and the other 122k. I have never been inside either engine. I use Mobile 1 5/30 all the way, changed the oil every six months on both. I live is south Florida and its hotter than Hades here so any mechanical issues or defective paint problems would be exacerbated. One is silver and one is white, both have the tan interior. No problems about the paint (you have to wax the car twice a year folks). My daughter drives one and I drive the other. I also own a 1999 Infiniti G45t (a Nissan product) with 256k! I will keep driving Nissan. Sorry.

After a couple months, I went on a business trip for a few days, and returned to find that the battery was dead again. Dealer looked at it and said all was fine. STAY AWAY from this piece of crap at all costs. We currently have 8000 miles and have had it back to the dealer 4 times for recalls and I'm looking returning again for another try at fixing one of the same recalls. The passenger air bag signal went on at 461 miles. The dealer tightens a loose connection. BINGO it's back. This time Nissan identifies the issue and does a general recall. Last week the same issue warning light comes on and doesn't go off. So here we go back to the dealer again.

The rear brakes begin grind on stopping. Almost sounds like need brakes - this at 3300 miles. Dealer says couldn't find anything, cleans drums and sends me on my way. At 4460 miles a different dealer identifies the problem per Nissan tech spec and calls for replacing the drums. Replacement drums are on Quota based on the dealers status with Nissan. At 5245 miles and over a month the drums are replaced. This is coming from a Nissan family - 2 Pathfinders, 1 Sentra (2010) and Infinity. So unless you have friends or family at the Nissan dealership you like to visit or you just like to hang around dealers waiting for repairs stay clear of this heap of warm ...

In March of 2013, I bought a brand NEW 2013 Nissan Sentra. The car was always in the shop for an issue. Once it hit 12k the brakes were grinding and there was a loud noise when I would go into reverse. Then I had to slam on the pedal before the car would stop. I worked my up the ladder and got a guy from corporate to come down and look at it. He did confirm that there was an issue. They "fixed" it until a week later. Now if the car sits more than 12 hours, the brake pedal will lock up (it's a push start) and you can't start the car. Then I still have to slam on the brakes before it will stop. Also when I slow down the car it rattles. This car is crap and Nissan hasn't helped in getting it fixed. I'm trying to get it bought back but they say it is not a safety issue... I want this junk car gone and into something that is safe.

A day later it comes back. They had the car all day and told me "Oh, we found the problem and we fixed it." That had gone away for a while, but then I had a clunking noise every time I turned the steering wheel. The tire pressure monitoring system does not work. Now I have loud squealing noise when I put the car in reverse and I have to press the brake pedal to the floor before the car stops. The car has about 13k on it and I have had more problems in a brand new car than my last car. I'm a college student and can't keep going to the dealership to get a car fixed. The car is unsafe to drive and I have filed a complaint with Nissan Consumer Affairs and the Attorney General. I now have a representative from Nissan going to look at the car on December 12. I own a 07 Sentra with a 2.0L engine. Just an FYI to everyone out there hearing rattling noises from their engine, especially during acceleration and when cold - you ARE NOT CRAZY - your modern Nissan 2.0L engine, believe it or not, is equipped with "solid" lifters as opposed to "hydraulic" lifters which every other modern car on earth has. There is NOTHING WRONG with your engine so no worries. Hard telling what engineers were thinking here, but a solid lifter I imagine was used to give the engine a bit more power. However, the issue with these is that they are inherently noisy and need adjusted over time - which NO ONE owning this car is going to do.

For sake of super simplicity - Imagine a solid lifter as a piece of metal fitting inside let's say metal cylinder. When the lifter is adjusted correctly, it fits in the cylinder with just a tiny bit of space around it allowing it to move up/down. The noise comes when the lifter isn't adjusted or spaced correctly allowing it to slap a bit against the metal surrounding it causing a pinging or rattling - the faster the engine is revving, the faster the rattle - thus the increased noise while accelerating. As you may know, metal contracts when it is cold - thus creating even more space for the metal to slap around, making even more noise. So again, you are NOT CRAZY, it is even worse when engine is cold. When the engine heats up a bit and the metal expands, you'll notice it's not as bad as the space then decreases. Hot vs cold weather has a big influence on this as well.

This is where your noise is coming from. There is NOTHING wrong with your engine and it is not blowing up. It's just the way they chose to engineer it. Nissan has done a HORRIBLE job explaining this to people - worrying people all for a tiny bit more power to the engine. There's not much you can do to make it stop. The lifters would need adjusted, and WILL fall out of tolerance again. You could change to hydraulic lifters, but this would require a change in valves and camshaft and any other headaches this may cause. Not worth it. So best to call it your mobile sewing machine and turn the radio up. Premium stereo in this car is pretty good and drowns mine right out ; ).

*Before hard core mechanics and engineers contact me about my theoretical lifter explanation, bugger off. It's the simplest way I could think to describe it on a forum post. I'm fully aware of its mechanics.

They told me to go to the dealer and have the dealer diagnose the problem and give Nissan USA the report with the cost and the person who I spoke with. When I got to the dealer, the service person told me that the mechanic can't get spark plugs 1 and 4 out because they were threaded wrong.

I asked him how he knows without taking them out. His response was that he is absolutely sure this was the case with considering the fact the head gasket is going and leaking coolant could corrode the spark plugs from the inside and seize them. Then he tells me that his dealership will not be responsible if the plugs break inside the block; I would have to pay for a new engine. He said I need to get the plugs out on my own before they diagnose the problem.

When I got the car back, the mechanic at Nissan dealership didn't even tighten the screws that hold the coils down and screws 1 and 4 vibrated off. I had to pull over and put them back in. I took the car back to my mechanic and he had the spark plugs out, in front of me, within 4 minutes. The head gasket should last for the life of the engine and shouldn't "wear out" at 89,000. I called up Nissan USA and they refused to help. Nissan made a bad product and will not fix it and screw the customer. This company's business practices are bad and the customer always gets screwed.

    1. There was significant low frequency vibration. This was not noticeable when test driving, but after 15 min or so on the highway, the low frequency vibration is quite noticeable to the extent of causing discomfort in the abdominal region.

    2. The CD radio that came with it was junk. Just out of warranty, it seems just about everyone I talk to verifies the CD stops working, and soon after one side loses sound.

    3. The spring tensioner in the sun visors broke, leaving you with floppy visors that you need to either pin up, or remove/replace. Replacement visors are pricey considering their cost should be minimal. This is a known issue so you would think Nissan would make the replacements available cheaply to keep customer satisfaction rather than try to make a few more dollars. All the money they spend on advertising wouldn't affect sales in the long run as much as little things like that to keep customers happy.

I just cannot believe this is Nissan's customer service. I had considered the purchase of a Toyota and Hyundai, but I went with a Nissan because I really thought it was a reliable and better brand. I was so regrettably wrong. After reading the comments posted, I feel I have a lemon sitting in my driveway. I'm $407.00 out of my pocket and 2 1/2 years of more payments to make, yikes! I just wish I could get some satisfaction. This was my first and will be my last Nissan purchase. Even the dealer said it was premature for the muffler to completely rust out; however, unfortunately that didn't help me.

2002 Nissan GXE Sentra - I saw on the computer where there is a recall on my car. The interior and exterior lights flicker and there is a burning smell due to a foam insulation under the hood. Nissan said there is a recall on that year and model, but it does not include my VIN. I said I am reporting the same problem so you need to include my VIN. Nissan said I must take it to the Nissan dealer and pay for a diagnosis and Nissan will decide if I will be reimbursed for repairs. I cannot afford that. My car only has 47,000 miles on it. So what do I do? Just drive it until it catches on fire?

I have a 2001 Nissan Sentra GXE with 85,000 miles. This car was hardly driven as you can tell by the mileage and year. I change my oil religiously every 2800 miles and have followed the maintenance guide to a T from the manual. About a month ago, I took it in for repairs because my service engine light was on. Long story short, I don't want to repeat what's already been said about this model and their problems. So far, I have spent in the past month $2268.66 for blown head gasket/new radiator, $860.00 for mass air flow sensor and timing valve control sensor, $150 for broken oil dip stick. The repairs I spent on this car last year included $430 for replacing lower control arm right hand side, $275 for replacing wheel bearings. I took the car back to the dealership today because the SES light came back on. Now, they tell me I'm getting another code P0430 catalytic converter which needs to be replaced for $1200. Are they freaking kidding me? Only 85K miles! I had a Honda Civic with 130,000 miles and didn't have any of these problems! BTW, it had all the recalls done to it. Help!

I purchased my 2004 Nissan Sentra new from McGavock Nissan in Lubbock, TX. The first problem was the low tire warning light kept coming on, even though the tires were not low. We took the vehicle in and instead of wanting to fix the light from coming on, as the tires were never low, the dealership tried to sell me $100 worth of nitrogen to fill the tires. What difference that would have made I still can't fathom since the tires were never low, but eventually they fixed the light problem.

The next issue we had was the rear drive shaft was defective. We then received the recall on the airbags. We took the vehicle in on a Saturday, but the dealership didn't have time to check them. They said only one person could look at them and tell if they were included in the recall and he was busy. So after 2 hours of waiting, we left (of course they don't take appointments on Saturdays).

The latest issue is the transmission has gone out. McGavock Nissan wanted $4,500 to replace it but that is more than the whole car is worth! Honestly, that is 1/4 of the original price of the vehicle! After speaking with Nissan corporate office, they said they won't help because all maintenance was not completed at the Nissan dealership. Nissan said they couldn't verify the work was done properly. I explained to corporate that Lubbock has one dealership that is open only 1/2 day on Saturday (next closest location is 105 miles away) and the vehicle is used for traveling out of town every day (somebody needs to give Nissan corporate a map so they have some concept of the miles between towns around here).

McGavock service department was no help at all and basically laughed in my face for expecting Nissan to help. Funny thing though, when I called corporate offices at Nissan and tried to get help with the repair, they asked about all the service that had been done at the Nissan house and did I know I still had a recall for my airbags that needed to be done. I told the young lady that yes I knew that and that I had tried to get the recall completed but was unable to.

When the young lady called me back to tell me they were denying my request, she mentioned that the recall had miraculously been done between the time I first spoke with her and the second time. That would have been hard to accomplish since the vehicle had not been at a dealership to be serviced on the date the young lady said it was completed! Apparently, a "record" showed up and reflected that the recall had been done when the vehicle wasn't even in the state, much less the town on the date in which this recall was to have occurred. I told the young lady at corporate this and needless to say, she was very disinterested about hearing it. Honesty and integrity is not to be found in this very unprofessional and unethical treatment of customers. No more Nissans for my family.

Here are the problems with my car (2001 Nissan Sentra):

It acts like it wants to die or does die when I come to a stop or when I first start my car. (Brakes do not work when the car dies, and that scares the living hell out of me.) I have to put the car in park really quick, so brakes do work. I had coil Ignition, battery, alternator, and MAF replaced. The car did not take to it, so I had to put the old one back in, for the mechanic to say "You need to take it to the Nissan Dealership and have you car reprogrammed."

I had diagnostics done, and I got the same answer every time: "Nothing is wrong with your car; it shows no history of your car dying or that anything has ever been replaced." Also, the car starts to shake when driving 55 or over, and it had tires replaced due to losing air and coming off rim. I also believe it leaks coolant, because I have to put more in every 3 months or so.

Further, it has new oil dipstick, due to the last one breaking; and it getting stuck, I wasn't able to check oil. And the Check engine light is on, and it has new brakes and brake pads.

I heard from many people that Nissans were good cars and that if something did go wrong, it was small and usually cheap to fix. So I figured, OK, I'll buy one. But really, I ended up putting more into the car than what I have paid for it; and I am scared to drive my car, thinking what's gonna happen next. I can't afford to keep repairing things, and nothing fixes the problem. I am basically throwing money away. I do not recommend buying a Nissan. And if you can afford to buy another car, do so now.

In four years, I've had the cap of my oil dipstick break off twice, leaving the stem in the tube and making it very difficult to remove and replace with a new one. This is very much a design flaw with the dipstick and a metal dipstick should be made available as a replacement. I mean, who has dipsticks break like that? Which led me to a google search on the subject. When a website listing shows for 5 ways to remove your broken dipstick from your Nissan Sentra shows up on top on the list, I'd say there is a problem with this product and many complaints are out there. I'd pay double price for a metal dipstick not to have to deal with this again, however, the parts store said there isn't one available. Someone please make one!

I am still angry, I wrote a letter to Nissan and again I received a boilerplate letter brushing me off with more B.S.

Since I have had this Nissan Sentra back to the dealership four times for the fuel filler tube breaking away from the body of the car; my gut feeling is that there is more to my exhaust problem than the B.S. rhetoric with which they have tried to shut me up. I've had 3 ETBs (Electronic Throttle Body in which the TP Sensor is a part of) replaced on 7/12/09, 12/07/09 and 5/12/10 and two ECUs (Electronic Control Unit the computer) replaced 1/9/09 and 11/19/10. I've had the Idle Air Control Volume reset 4 times on 8/23/08, 7/28/09, 4/24/10 and 12/21/11 this was explained to me as a software update for the ECU.

I believe there are major electrical and/or mechanical and/or engineering problems with my Nissan Sentra SE-R, which may be the result of the ECU and/or the ETB being faulty, which then leads me to believe both Nissan the maker of the car and Hitachi the maker of the parts are at fault. This problem first occurred in 2005 when the car was still under warranty, but the dealership failed to fix it properly then and 16 tries later, it still doesn't work, breaking down on me for an 18th time yesterday. Due to research, I have found at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and other Nissan and car forums, I believe many other Nissan Sentras as well as possibly Nissan Altimas, which have the same ETB (Nissan Part #1611K-AE01BRE) and ECU as my car are experiencing similar problems to mine. Yet Nissan and Hitachi fail to recognize there is a problem, fail to issue a recall and fail to diagnose a fix for the problem.

Right now, my car is currently at Nissan again and needs a new transmission (which is covered up to 120,000 miles because of all the issues with the new transmissions) and needs something with air flow replaced, in which the mass airflow sensor (MAF) in your Nissan vehicle measures the amount of air going into the engine

If the MAF sensor sends the wrong signal to your car's computer, because of dirt or other contamination around its sensing elements, your engine will be fed with the wrong amount of air/fuel mixture.

I did bring the car in at about 50,000 miles, complaining of the engine, in which they said there was nothing wrong with it. I also took it in to have my exhaust fixed. They would not cover the exhaust. I have also had to have everything with my heating system fixed.

About a month and a half later, I took it back because the brakes were not stopping the vehicle fully and it was also squealing. When I took it in to get checked, I was advised I needed to get a brake flush, which I paid out of pocket because it was not covered by my warranty. Within two weeks, the brake flush and the brakes were still making noise.

I took it back in, then I was advised the brakes need to be adjusted, luckily, my warranty did cover this service. I allowed about a month to pass, then I took it back in because it was still not stopping completely and it was still making noise. I finally got very frustrated and asked to speak to the service manager. I explained all that has been going on, so then he has the car checked and he stated that he would test drive it himself to make sure it was running smooth. The car literally ran smoothly for about 48 hrs and then back to the same problem, at this point, I am blown away with the lack of knowledge and horrible service skills they are applying to my vehicle. I then decided to file a claim with regional, which of course it got nowhere, they stated I needed to take the car back again to be checked up. I could not believe it, this is ridiculous I told them they have my records on file and I had brought the car in a total of 9 times within a 5-month period and it didn't change. My car at the time (1998 Jeep) died on my birthday in 2008. I went to Ron Bouchard's Nissan which at the time was located in Lunenburg MA. I looked at the 2005 Nissan Sentra 1.8 that I now have. It was a decent car, had one prior owner and low mileage. There was some staining at the visor on the driver's side. I was reassured that they would clean that up before I get the car. They had no idea what it was from supposedly. We ended up getting two cars from the dealership.

Two weeks later, I FINALLY got the car. I was told for two weeks that I would have the car "within a day or two". Come to find out, they didn't have the title to even complete the sale and give me my car. I rented a car for two weeks, SUV with ridiculous gas mileage. I also noticed that once you agree to a car, all the sales associates suddenly have no interest in you whatsoever. They acted like you're the dirt on the bottom of their shoe because you will no longer get them their commission. Oh, and in that two week period, they were unable to take the time to clean the car.

Within two weeks, my trunk latch stopped working correctly. When you use the remote, you can hear it clicking but it doesn't release. Fine. I waited so long for my car that I have no desire to bring it back. I will use the key to open the trunk. Within two months of having the car, the light burned out where you shift so at night you have to turn on the overhead lamp to see what gear you are in. I replaced the light bulb. It burned out two more times.

2009 - I need to replace the front brakes.

2010 - The brakes were absurdly loud. My family friend whose a mechanic for the town of Stoneham, MA was so concerned about the noise that he had me have the car towed to his work. Knowing I'm a single mother of a young child, he felt that both of our safety was being jeopardized. It took him several hours to get the rear drums apart. When he finally did, the spring fell out at his feet. It was completely rotted out. The same thing happened on the other side. Any hard braking and my rear brakes could have let go at any time.

In February 2010, I received a postcard in the mail about a recall. No other information was included to describe what the issue might be. I called the dealership and it was a recall on a sensor in the computer of the vehicle that triggers the "Service Engine Soon" light. It will come on and go off after a day or two and happened repeatedly. Yes, my car has been doing that good to know. I brought it for an oil change and have that fixed. I asked the girl when I picked it up what happens if the problem is reoccurring? The girl looked at me like I have twelve heads and said it shouldn't. Low and behold, it starts happening again after three months.

Today, 8/23/11, my vehicle suddenly decides it's not going to take gas. I got about $3 and some change in and the pump clicks like the tank is full. Impossible. I pumped another, maybe fifty cents, in to have the gas come splashing back out. I did some research online and discovered that there was a recall on the fuel system/storage for 2005 Nissan Sentras. I called Nissan North America and said: We're sorry, your car is not a part of the recall. They can't tell me why. No response when I asked that since my car is doing exactly what is described in the recall and stated that my car is the exact year, make, and model.

I called the dealership. I spoke with a guy named Seth who talks over me the entire time and then asked why I called. Maybe if you had listened to me instead of talking over me, we wouldn't be having this issue! She gave me an attitude because I did research before calling. She wanted to charge me $90 to simply diagnose the Service Engine light problem. She didn't even address my request for a quote on the fuel system problem.

How can my car that exactly matches the description of the recall not be part of the recall? How can Nissan not care that this is CLEARLY a safety issue? You have customers whose cars are suddenly not taking fuel and spilling it back out at their feet, and all you can say is sorry there's nothing we can do? I can only imagine what's going to happen next. Also, my windows have leaked when completely closed in the rain. My car doesn't always want to start. There's a smell in the trunk that will not go away. The tires were making a clicking noise when you drive over 30 mph. The employees are rude, the service team is rude, they give you attitude if you know anything about recalls or repeat issues with vehicles. And no one wants to help.

I've also noticed that at this particular dealership when you bring your car in for an oil change, they'll have suggested repairs listed a mile long one time; three months later there's nothing listed, three months after that the list is back again. These are serious safety issues that Nissan should be addressing. THOUSANDS of people are having the same issues and Nissan is turning their backs as if they have never heard about these problems before. Way to stand by your product and customers. Instead, you have tons of customers who petrified of driving their own vehicles. Where is the support from Nissan?

I have a used Nissan Sentra SER 2002 with a 2.5 engine which I purchased in August 2003 (still driving it today). I have had the same problem that some of the other posters have had. Fortunately for me, Nissan of Queens took care of the problem right away.

I was driving through the streets in Brooklyn one evening in February and the car just would not go above 10 mph. I contacted Nissan around 7 p.m. and told them about the problem. The sales associate I spoke with gave me his cell phone number and told me to call him when I got home. I did (it was about 9 p.m. when I finally reached home). Because the service station where I purchased my car is about 15 miles away and the one in Brooklyn was closed, I figured I'd drive home and call my mechanic in the morning.

My mechanic came out and told me that it was not the battery, but since I had only had the car since August I should call Nissan. I could see the dollar signs adding up in my head (tow to dealership, replace what was wrong and then pay through the nose for labor). Boy was I wrong! Nissan sent a tow truck (I rode with him), and when I got to the dealership, I was told that there was a recall on my car; the computer had to be replaced because the car could stop anywhere and then I would be in danger. I was worried as I had to go back to work in two days and I need my car to get back and forth.

Everything, tow and rental car were covered as there was an existing warranty on the car. Dealership had the part Fed Ex'd to them, fixed it and I was able to pick my car up on Friday in order to drive to work on Monday.

I have had the best service with both Nissan of Queens and Kings Nissan in Brooklyn. The only reason I don't use their service center is because the cost of labor exceeds all bounds of common sense. I have a mechanic who uses Nissan parts, but the cost of his labor is "working girl" reasonable. The price I paid to have my first Nissan serviced would have bought me a brand new car.

I have owned four Nissan Sentras and if they were not holding up, I would not continue to purchase this car. I believe that the posters are having problems, but if your car is not under warranty, take it somewhere else. There are many good mechanics that will find the issue/issues and you will be totally satisfied.

Nissan is well known for throttle body issues. My vehicle has history with this problem. I've contacted corporate and they've denied my case due to two reasons: 1) out of warranty 2) not enough history at dealership. My response was that I was fully aware that I was out of warranty when I called but it is the same issue that has never been corrected properly while I was repeatedly dealing with while under warranty. Secondly, they responded saying Nissan Corporation doesn't feel I have had enough work done on my vehicle at the dealership to warrant a "favor".

I am not asking for a favor! I want this vehicle repaired correctly! I have been out of a vehicle for three weeks! It took Nissan Corporate three weeks to deny my claim?! This is completely unacceptable. Nissan does not back their products! The throttle body system has given me problems time and time again. My vehicle will stall at any place at any time. The most dangerous situation was losing power and stalling on a busy highway. Gas peddle is to the floor but the car is not accelerating. The brakes made a popping noise up front when you apply the brakes sometimes. It has new rotors and disc pads, I have already replaced almost every bulb in the car. I had to push the pedal all the way to floor to get it barely move and get it off the highway. I turned the switch off and restarted the engine then it was OK.

This was not the first time this has happened to me. These cars should be reported to national highway safety board for a national recall. They are unsafe. How many deaths will it take to get action on these lemons? I will never buy another Nissan if this is the best they can do. I don't think they can ever fix the problem they have with starting the car. I would think a lot before buying a Nissan. There should be a class action suit to fix all the problems with these cars. From February 9th- February 17th of 2005 with the engine light coming on and going to trophy Nissan just for them to say that they can find nothing or the gas cap was a little loose reset the engine light. On the 17th of February of 2005, with just 3,677 miles on the car owning it only 3 months, they state that there is coolant in the head gasket. They replaced it. I also had to have a fuel pump kit put on the car as well the next year.

Ok. it's 2011, the engine light is on again and I take it over there because the car is running rough and they had to replace the advanced timing solenoid and after they did that, they called and said that the head gasket is cracked $1,300. They said they would have to send the head to see if it is warped and it is and also the block is warped and slightly cracked. Now after investigating when the car had the issue with the coolant leaking into the head that they did not pull the head to check and see if it was warped at that time, when the car was still under warranty. Now Trophy Nissan says it will cost another 2,000 but they recommend the engine be replaced for a total of 4,400. Now I believe this car came from the manufacturer this way, and the coolant leak is what caused the damage.

We purchased a 2005 Nissan Sentra on October 16, 2004 from Trophy Nissan in Mesquite, Texas. When we had the car just 3 months, the engine light came on and I took it immediately back to them to see what was wrong. It took me taking it back to them 3 times before they realized I had a problem with the head gasket. There was coolant leaking into the cylinder. Needless to say that early on, you don't think you would have a mechanical issue like this where they would have to go into the engine. Okay, here I am now, May 4, 2011, my car is sitting over at Trophy again with a crack in my head gasket. Now I believe that this part was faulty from the manufacturer. I would like to see what I can do and if I have a legitimate complaint. This car is a lemon and I believe I contacted someone a while back about this car. At this stage, I will be out of pocket, a lot of money for them to once again take my engine apart to repair it. I would like to know my options.

I have a 2004 Nissan Sentra, and about a month ago, it stalled or died, whatever you want to call it, without any warning while I was driving the kids to school. I was told that it was the battery, so I got a new one along with new cables. A few days later, it happened again and it could have caused a very serious accident. Then, I was told that it was the fuel pump. I replaced that and thought everything was finally working and then it happened two more times.

I was told about a recall on 2004 Nissan Sentra, and when I looked it up, other people seem to have the same problem that I was having, so I called Nissan and after giving my VIN number, they said that my car wasn't part of the recall. I am too scared to drive it. I guess it is going to just sit in my driveway.

I purchased my 1994 Nissan Sentra new in ‘94 and registered it in CT. I moved to RI and titled it, then moved back to CT in 1998. The car was paid off to NMAC and the title supposedly cleared. I have never had need to check the title as I have enjoyed driving it and never thought to sell it or move in the last 11-12 years. I moved to ME in 2009 but only registered my Ford Explorer as I needed a 4WD and I spend the winters in CT. My Nissan remained registered in CT. In April 2010 I tried to register the car in ME and was told that Nissan still had a lien on the car. In May a deer jumped out into the road and totaled my car. I have not been able to get a response from Nissan to release the title.

They state it is over 10 years old and have no records. All operators as you have previously been told seem to be from India. In June 2010 I drove to CT to the DMV and was told I could not do anything about clearing the title until they had a letter stating "no demands on the car". I contacted my Nissan Dealer in person, Girard Motors of Groton, CT, where I had purchased the car and got no help there either. It is now December 2010 and The Hartford Insurance Agency is threatening to cancel my claim for my loss. I am not sure where to turn and I am calling CT State Attorney General's Office to see if they can help me and posting a complaint here. It would seem NMAC doesn't follow through with any help or paperwork once they have their money. I am out my insurance payment for the loss of my vehicle if this is not resolved.

And I have spent many hours "holding" on the line to no avail. If a joint payment is made to me and Nissan which The Hartford doesn't want to do since it was paid off, I am worried it will be years again before I can get satisfaction from Nissan for my insurance money. I have no extra money to pay out more legal fees and have been trying to solve this on my own.

I purchased a 2002 Nissan Sentra at Premium Nissan, New Rochelle, NY. The car was new when I purchased it and I also bought a car alarm at the same time through Nissan. Soon after purchasing the car, I noticed that the car would stall when I was either stopped at a light or driving under 10 miles an hour. I brought my car back to the dealership and asked for the car to be checked to find what the issue was. Nothing could be found.

I brought the car back with this same issue to several different Nissan dealerships without success. Attached are the records of the times I brought the car to the Nissan dealerships. One customer service person at Premium Nissan said the problem was the nut behind the wheel. I was offended that this issue was not taken seriously and no effort was made to keep the car to find out what the problem was.

I finally took the car to my personal mechanic who in an effort to find the problem kept the car for several weeks to diagnose the problem. He discovered that the alarm installed by Nissan caused the computer to go bad. Because the car alarm was faulty, it caused the car to stall at stop lights as well as driving on the highway. Since this issue was happening while the car was under warranty and I only brought the car to Nissan for service while it was under warranty, I am asking that Nissan reimburse me for the cost of the replacement of the computer, cost $1050.00.

There's no speedometer for me to know how much gas I had or how many miles I drove. I had to get a faulty wire replaced when I had the alternator replaced in '09 and this fixed the problem.

Later, I found out that is a common problem with 2000 Sentras. Also (and this is what really chaps my **). I have had to replace the dipstick three times because the top of it is made of rubber and breaks down! You just reach in to pull it out and the whole top comes off. I know this is a common problem because once when I took it to Pomoco Nissan, they had another Sentra (2004) that they were working on for the exact same reason. Whatever you do, don't try to take it out. They will have to remove the oil pan to get it out if you do.

Also, mine had a "California" emissions package on it and had to replace the catalytic converter for big bucks. If I had to do it again, I will not buy the car.

Recently, a few weeks ago, my exhaust pipe rusted completely through and disconnected from the muffler. It was hanging down and almost dragging on the road. I had it repaired by a local repair place that we deal with at work. Since I couldn't afford to replace the two pieces of the exhaust system, I had the repair place weld a new piece of pipe into place.

I contacted Nissan consumer affairs to pay for the parts to be replaced and they stated they don't cover environmental wear and tear, that I was outside my manufacturer warranty (by only 4000 miles). I find it very hard to believe that my exhaust system should normally rust through two years' time, especially when I've lived in North Carolina for the last two winters and we don't get very much snow here. I feel that Nissan has sold me a poor quality car and would not recommend anyone to buy this vehicle. I now have a rusted, cheap quality exhaust that I have to pay over $700 to replace (according to the Nissan dealership). While I'm saving that money, I have to drive a vehicle around waiting for the exhaust system to break off again.

I bought a new 2002 Sentra SER Spec V in 2002. I have kept meticulous records of its maintenance including its 30,000 and 60,000 mile maintenance which were done at Nissan Dealerships. Recently, my check engine light came on and I took it to the same dealership I bought it at. Symptoms included rough idle and loss of power. The dealership told me that I had two open recalls on my vehicle when I checked it in (was not notified of either). After several days and 3 hours of diagnostics, they told me that the ecu needed replacement, and I needed a new injector on cylinder three (they quoted me $1,800.00). After expressing my frustration over the recall and cost associated with the fix, they suggested another hour of diagnostics, which they said proved the ECU was failing (they couldn't get any communication from it).

They did replace the ECU (which was over $1,000.00) and told me I could pick it up. En-route to the dealership, they called me back to tell me that the tech had pulled it out of the garage, and that the check engine light had come back on, and that it needed a new injector on cylinder three. I contacted Nissan North America and spoke to the regional representative. He told me he would contact the dealership and submit a request to Nissan for them to cover the cost of the ECU (obviously not the problem, if it still had same symptoms after the part was replaced). I am still waiting for a decision from Nissan North America as to whether they will pay for the ECU which apparently wasn't the problem. The dealership assures me that the ECU couldn't have caused the injector problem.

I started to do some research online, and apparently 2002 Nissan Sentras have a ton of problems, and generally Nissan is ignoring it. There are a lot of loyal Nissan owners who have been wronged. I would gladly join a class suit if there is one. Hugh companies should be held accountable for their products like everyone else!

The first and second repair were covered under the car warranty. The repair again worked for a little longer that the first repair.

When hard starts started coming back again, it was happening more than the first two times. I complained that this was the third time the vehicle had been in the shop for the same repair and that the technicians did not fix the car the first time. The person said he would put in a request to Nissan to cover the charge. He told me later that the computer denied the request but that I could call Nissan directly for help.

First major problem happened in July 2009 at 86,000 miles while driving about 50m/h the engine suddenly stopped without any previous signs or warning. Luckily, I didn't have an accident since I was driving on the 2nd line. Two other drivers helped me to push the car on the side . The car got, of course, towed to the nearest shop which is close and after 2 days it was fixed by replacing a sensor and total cost of $460.

Last June at 99,000 miles the engine light came on then the engine shuts off sometimes on very low speed. I took the car to Pepboys and told me just the full engine diagnostics will cost me $299 . After two hours, they said the sensor is worn and spark plugs have to be replaced with all cost of $446+tax. Some time later they told me the car wasn't fixed and need to replace other parts and came up with new estimate of $675. I was so mad and agreed to pay that amount only if the car is fixed. At the end of the day I was informed that they need more time to find the problem and had to leave the car in the shop.

Okay, now I missed a day of work and have to rent a car until my junk gets fixed. Next day, Pepboys called me saying now they found the problem and a Nissan made sensor had to be put on from the beginning not just a universal one if I have to pay $856. Again, I was upset and accused them acting like they have no clue what they are doing but tried to stay calm and again agreed to pay only if the car is fixed. After five days, the car still not fixed and now saying new $800 computer needed and the total cost of repairs isn't worth it for this car. We came to a bargain that I have to pay only for $252 Nissan sensor. At the end, we both lost. I ended up paying also about $250 for car rental. Finally, I went to the nearest Honda dealer and got new civic. I left them my junk Sentra for $1,500. I will never, never, never, ever buy a Nissan again.

Normally, it took 3 or 4 tries. Then around December 2009, the card stopped working completely. I had to have it towed to the mechanic, and they did a full tune up. Then around February, the heat gauges started going crazy, fluctuating rapidly from hot to cold, depending on whether I was actively accelerating or if I was idle.

I took the car to my mechanic several times, and he was unable to diagnose the problem. Finally, I took the car to a Nissan dealership, and they diagnosed a broken head gasket. I had to pay $911 to fix that. I wrote a complaint letter to Nissan consumer affairs, and they responded, asking me to send all paperwork I had, proving that I had the car diagnosed and fixed at a Nissan dealership. This I did.

A week later, they advised that they were not going to cover the cost of the fix because the car was not under warranty and they never did a recall. Absurd; they knew they were wrong, and were hoping that I didn't have my car diagnosed and fixed at a Nissan dealership so they could find a loop hole out. They could have seen that I didn't have a warranty without getting my hopes up and having me send all that paperwork in.

Then a couple of months later, my car started stalling out in the middle of the road for no reason whatsoever. This happened four times in one fifteen-minute drive. My mechanic diagnosed a crankshaft sensory issue and replaced it for $160. That didn't include the amount they had to tow that piece of crap for, which is another $74! Finally, I took the car to a dealership and traded it in for a Honda Civic. Let me give anyone who has a Nissan or who is considering buying a Nissan some advice: Don't buy one. If you have one, get rid of it! (I paid close to $1400 in one year on various repairs to this car.)

The first year, the fan belts went out in the first two months. The thermostat went out the following year. The thermostat was fixed by the Nissan dealership in Riverside, CA.

Later, the back paneling some how was destroyed and caused the break system to fail and the thermostat that was previously fixed by the dealership in Riverside was not done properly and was leaking. The leak destroyed major engine parts and caused me to have a blown head gasket. The car has had problems after problem, year after year and some like the failed brake system and the back paneling could have been very harmful or even fatal for myself and my children. Being that the car has had so many problems year after year and its still under warranty, it has made it extremely difficult to trade it in so it has left me often times without a vehicle for long periods of time. I'm tired of fishing these out of the tube + they cost around 20 bucks . The Nissan Service people are total idiots. My brand-new 2008 Nissan Sentra began making an unusual noise on Thursday, August 6, 2009. Upon returning home from work, I had my husband open the hood. We found oil squirted on the engine and upon inspection of the dip stick, the oil didn't even register. This was interesting since neither the engine light nor the oil sensor light came on. I took the car to Crossroads Nissan of Sanford (close to where I work). Originally the car was purchased at Crown Nissan in Greensboro. I was told by a certified Nissan mechanic that the engine looked clean and that it appears the defect was due to the manufacturer. He stated that the warranty (up to 60,000 miles) would cover it. My car currently has 46,000 miles. Then 2 hours later I called back to check and was told that they wouldn't cover the cost of a new engine unless I provided oil change receipts. Even though the engine and all was clean (proving that we maintain our car), I never dreamed in a million years that I would have to keep the receipts showing that I purchased oil. We change the oil ourselves.

The consequence is that Nissan now will not pay to fix a car that is under warranty. This is why I always purchase American-made cars. I was personally instructed from a certified mechanic that it was a manufacturing defect. Now I have to prove that I took care of the car! Believe me, I already paid too much for the car - I take care of it. This has been a long line of defects for the car. I have already had two recalls, two busted belts in my tires, and the DVD system has had to be fixed two times. What is next?

I was driving. The road was moist. When I went to apply the brakes, they skipped and because of that, my 2007 Nissan Sentra with only 20,000 miles on it slid right into the telephone pole so hard that upon impact the pole was cracked. My windshield also cracked and there was extensive damage done to car so it was considered a total loss. After the crash, I got a letter from GEICO saying that the 2007-2008 Sentras were recalled because of brake issues. This was the fist time I heard that the car was recalled and that was in July 2008 and I never received any kind of notice from Nissan. Now, I have to start all over again. I think Nissan should be responsible for what happened since I was never notified of the recalled. My neck still hurts from it being jerked so hard and I also hurt my collar bone and wrist.

Since I purchased this car in 2003, there was something wrong with the engine. Since 2004 Service Engine Soon light comes on frequently. All the three gages go erratic (bouncing or moving up & down) sporadically at the time of full stop (especially in the morning) or while driving. The vehicle sometimes feels heavy due to no creeping. I take my car to the dealer everytime it happens, however, they have not found any problems yet. These ongoing unsolved problems give me distress and fear of driving. I believe this one is a defect, however, NISSAN does not do anything about it.

i have owned my 2003 nissan sentra se-r spec v for almost 2 years. ran great until about 6 months ago it broke down. started idleing rough, skipping. check engine light came on and was flashing. found a damaged spark plug, the gap had been smashed shut and could see where something was pounding on the plug repetedly. did some research and found out about the butterfly or power valve issue with the 2.5L engines. i removed the upper intake assembly attempting to get a look at the butterfly assembly and sure enough, there was a complete butterfly missing which is 2 brass screws and an oval shaped piece of brass about the size of a silver dollar. so where did it go? thats right, it fell into the engine. using an extendable magnet i was able to collect all of the pieces of the butterfly assembly and extract them from the engine. one of the screws was unrecognizeable, looked like a brass bb from a bb gun because it had been smashed up so bad. the butterfly itself was also damaged around the edges. i went to the nissan dealship to see about ordering a new butterfly assembly and they informed me of the recall for these engines in the 04-05 sentra spec v's. they recomended i talk to the service dept about having it repaired by nissan under recall. nissan service looked up my vin # and discovered that a new engine was recently replaced for the precat recall issue only 20,000 miles ago. they recommended that i call corprate and file a claim. so i did. i paid $150.00 to have the car towed to the nearest dealership, they waived the $96 diagnostic and confirmed that the butterfly screws did damage to the engine. it took about 3 months of getting escalated up the corprate nissan pyramid. finally i made it to the top just to be denied. they said that my vehicle was 5,000 miles out of warranty and that the recall was not for 03 models only 04-05. however it is the same exact engine, so i dont know why 03 is not covered. the fact that i had only put 20,000 on the new engine that they installed didnt seem to matter to them. i am no rocket scientist but i am pretty sure a 4 cyl engine should be able to run for more that 20,000 miles. at this point i am wondering how damaged the engine is. i was hopeing to have a new butterfly installed and have the engine put back together to see if it would run or not. nissan said it would cost $900 for a new lower intake because it was damaged BEFORE they could assess the damage to the engine. i went to the dealer and spoke directly with the mechanic. turns out that the intake was not damaged, just the butterfly was, and you cannot order just the butterfly by itself from nissan. you have to order the complete lower intake assembly. so they wanted to charge me $900 for a piece of brass?!! i managed to find a used butterfly and installed it. nissan wanted an additional fee to put the intake back together. aparantly the waived diagnosic only applied to taking the engine apart but not back together? so i said fine, charge me to put it back togehter and see if it will start. they called back and said it would not start, needs new engine. so at this point i am stuck with a 7,000 dollar blue book car that needs 6,000 in repair to install a new engine. i told nissan that i wasn't going to give them any more money and that i would have the car towed elseware for the engine install. i go to pay my bill and find the waived diagnostic fee of $96 dollars back on my bill. they said that since i chose not to have them repair the engine that i would have to pay the diagnostic fee. what a crock. i feel like i was robbed. first by corprate then by the dearship.

I own a 2001 Nissan Sentra SE/2.0. It has been paid off for over a year and it has 99K miles on it. I bought an extended warranty for 84mo/100K when I purchased the vehicle (brand new) in California (Mossy Nissan) in Dec 2000. The warranty is through Ryan. Aside from previous problems I have had with my vehicle and the Nissan Dealer (new brakes/rotors at 3k, Tires due to manufacturer's defect), my latest saga involves having Nissan perform a 90K service including a brake inspection. I was told I needed new front brakes and paid for replacement.

After having work performed my vehicle began making noise - no noise before the 90K service. I brought it back to the dealer and they said I need rear brakes (never inspected the noise I told them about). I had rear brakes replaced and noise continued and got worse. I take it back a 3rd time and am told its a transmission problem -something about a bolt or gauge... Now I'm asking why weren't these things brought up during the 90K service -- The rear brakes were supposed to be inspected and nothing was written about needing them (2 weeks later I'm paying to have them repaired) and the transmission - how does my automatic suddenly have such drastic problems.

I am in limbo with a rental car awaiting the warranty rep going to Nissan to evaluate their assessment to determine if my car gets fixed or not. I believe Nissan's multiple factory defects and poor workmanship are to blame... When my vehicle had just 3K I was told I needed brakes.. I fought that battle and had them finally admit to a manufacturer's defect which resulted in my pads being worn and rotors warped necessitating new pads and rotors. This was followed up by fighting for them to finally exclaim a manufacturer's defect on the tires (they kept exclaiming that the wear was from frequent high speed stopping that warped my tires....). I'm just not sure I want to fight another battle with Nissan for a car with 99K, but I do rely on this vehicle to drive to work.

They responded with tow truck and finally admitted to having a recall on crank sensor. While getting car serviced at least 10 cars came in on flatbeds with the same problem. None of the customers had been notified about the problem -- all had the misfortune of the car stalling out while driving almost causing an accident.

Also while getting this crank sensor fixed my car was modified by the dealer. They also had a recall on a part called an engine modulor case (EMC) because insulator foam was breaking apart, this EMC holds the engine computer and throttle cables, cruise control on some cars. The dealer did not replace the part, they simply pulled out the foam and left the engine computer unprotected. Now it has been 2 yrs.to the month and the Engine mod.case (EMC) is now rattiling and bumping around under the hood. I'm worried because the gas throttle is located here and this is the engine computer.

I have a 2001 Nissan Sentra GXE. I purchased it brand new with 12 miles on it from the dealership here. Here is my list of problems.

    1) Both my front tires blew out after hitting minor bumps in the road on two seperate occasions. I ended up replacing the back two tires also, just in case. FYI, I purchased the performance upgrade package which included these horrible tires.

    2) At around 15,000 miles, my car began to jerk and lose power when pushing on the accelerator..at 25,000 miles my check engine light came on and my car died every time I pushed the clutch in, even when driving at highway speeds. Took it in to the dealership and they did FIVE recall repairs on my car that I was never notified about. While leaving the dealership my car stalled again. Took it to another mechanic and they can't figure out the problem.

    3) My front brakes have been replaced twice and now my car only has 50,000 miles on it. By the way, my front rotors are warped.

    4) My windshield wipers won't make full contact with the windshield, thus making visibility horrible on rainy days even with the wipers on. I have replaced the wipers about 20 times since I've had the car and replaced the actual wiper arms and assembly twice. The problem keeps coming back.

    5) I wash and wax my car at least once every two weeks, I don't park in the sun or under trees...yet my paint is coming off, especially my front and rear bumpers.

Consequently, I have a car that brakes horribly, stalls every time I push the clutch in or come to a stop, has zero visibility in the rain, and whose paint is falling off in big chunks. I still have about 1,000 left to pay on this car before I officially own a LEMON! I have babied this car since day one, and have invested over 5,000 in repairs and having diagnostic tests done and nothing is fixed yet!
