I bought Nissan Pathfinder 2007. When I saw the car at the show room for Nissan dealer.
They were showing the top of line model . The salesman explained all the features comes in the car. I have selected the 2nd type as the salesman explained that the only different between top of the line and my choice is the tire size and the leather seats. I bought the car, at the delivery the salesman was explaining to me how to use the car and all the car functions. At that time I discovered that there is no compass in the car and it is SUV. I asked the salesman why, his answer was it is not required by most of the customers. I called the head office of the Nissan dealer in Saudi Arabia, to place a complain. Few days the marketing manager called me and he told me if I want to have compass I have to pay 3000 SAR extra, I was surprised and I told him all the previous SUV cars I have bought it comes with compass. His answer was, he can not do any thing for me.

In 2005 I purchased a new Nissan Pathfinder (2005 model) from an authorized dealer, Nemet Motor. Since then I have been complaining to Nissan that there was a constant squeaking and screeching noise coming from the engine belt area. I returned the vehicle several times to Nemet to correct this problem under the 3 year warranty, yet nothing was done, and the problem continued. I was told that the problem was related to dirt on the drive belt. Now the problem has gotten worse and the vehicle is practically inoperable due to the increasingly loud noise. I understand that this problem is typical in a substantial number of Nissan vehicles that were manufactured around 2005, yet Nissan continues to ignore this problem and have not issued a recall to fix this problem.

Our oldest daughter purchased an07 Sentra last year at our advice. Weve had our share of normal problems but we are having a major Problem with the 02 Pathfinder. We had a problem with the timing chain cover making noise last year in October, at 62,000 miles. Nissan fixed it. Theres nothing we did to cause it.

I have a 2001 Nissan Xterra that is had a couple of recalls fixed. One of them was the fuel sending unit molding that cracked. I had gas fumes through out the vehicle and gas leak underneath the vehicle. Nissan is now charging me 250.00 dollars to replace the fuel sending unit that was part of a recall.

It scares me to think that my vehicle could of caught on fire or worse yet killed my nephew who is often strapped in a car seat right above the defect where the leak was occurring. I dare anyone at Nissan to sit in my vehicle with the gas fumes and light a cigarrette or just rub there hands on the fabric of the seat to get some static going.

I purchased a Nissan Pathfinder in March 2002 new.I serviced and maintained this vechicle at this dealership when needed. Then in late May,2004 I noticed a burning smell on my way home from work the truck for a few days, wasn't feeling right and the clutch seemed to be slipping. On May 27, the truck broke down I had it towed to Nissan of Freehold, I was told the clutch needed to be replaced, the odometer reading was 32,158.I was told at the service center, I must not be driving the truck properly, by RIDING THE CLUTCH I explained to them, all the vechicles I have owned sinse driving at the age of 16 have always been manual transmission. The cost 1513.38 Clutch #2 original plus. The truck was 2 years 2 months old. Now 2 years 2 months later July 2006 again I felt the clutch slipping promptly brought it to Nissan now 57,645 miles. No surprise the clutch needed to be replaced at my expense once again because the warranty does not cover the cost. I was extremely upset by this time clutch number #3in 4 years I asked that someone from the corporate Nissan division come tke a look at the parts and pictures and was told nothing was faulty and again it was my responsibility for the costs.Only this time they would give me a discount how kind! This time 1,372.19. What choice did I have I need to work, and no one including corporate Nissan was willing to admit to any wrongdoing by Nissan or faulty parts, and certainly not willing to pay for the full cost. Now here we go again, I brought my truck in for emission smell and failed inspection on June 6th I dropped the truck off and was told I had an evaporation problem with the fuel line and I also needed hoses replaced and power steering flushed out, the cost 962.98. A few days later I picked up the truck and noticed the clutch again was slipping promptly called Nissan and dropped the truck off again. okay clutch number #4 23 months later. Again I'm told by Nissan of Freehold their is nothing they can do it's not under warranty. I would have to pay the full cost and probably should also replace the fly wheel like I did in 2004.I asked that they park the truck outside their lot and not to touch the truck I will have it towed when I figure out where to bring it. In the meantime of course I need the truck back for work and life's basic needs and don't know what to do, It is absurd to have to replace this many clutches I never had to replace a clutch in my other cars and only one did I ever have to replace in a Nissan 2000sx with 200,000 miles and ten years old. Is there anyone who can help me? I know Nissan is responsible I truly believe they were using faulty parts my truck was brand new off the lot when I purchased it, and cost over 30,000 dollars and have spent at least close to 7,000 in repairs in 5 years. Please contact me asap, I can't afford this again and shouldn't have to this is crazy, I drive to work am married with children and use that vechicle in a responsible manner.Thank you

I bought a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder and after only 40,000 miles the gas gauge isn't working right and they tell me the fuel sensor is out and will cost me $500 to fix it and it is not under warranty. I called my old mechanic (I used on my previous cars) and was told he would install the same Nissan part, for only $240. When I confronted the Nissan dealer on the cost difference, they said they charge by the job, not the hour. Nissan service is a rip off and I am not going back to Nissan for service.

Like some of the other posts I have read, the engine of my fiances 03 Pathfinder started making a knocking noise. I was told by the mechanic that the screws from the butterflies in the intake manifold had backed out and fallen into the engine. The cost would be $3000-$4000 to fix, and that's if there wasn't any other damage to the pistons, cylinders, etc... I can't beleive that Nissan won't stand by their engines or provide any solution to this reoccuring problem with many of their makes and models. Especially when that is nothing a routine maintenance schedule would diagnose. There are probably many others out there that Nissan is giving the shaft to, and that is flat out unacceptable. I can tell you one thing, if I can help it, none of my family members, friends, or anyone I can speak with will ever consider a Nissan vehicle! Such a shame for what on the surface seems to be a reputable company, but in reality it's just another large corporation that cares about the bottom line and not it's consumers. Shame on them. Please Help!!

I have never heard of the Sule Sensor going bad in a new truck. I called Customers service to see if Nissan would pay to repair my truck, they told me no. I think that there is a lot of customer out there with the same problems with their Nissan Pathfinder, this havae to be a defect in this car, because out of all of the new cars, I have owned I have never had this problem before. I will never buy another Nissan, and I will tell all of my family and friend about the problems I have had.

I have a 2007 Xterra that had 6900 miles on it when the Service Engine Soon light went on one day. I took the truck to my mechanic, Pat Settersten, owner of Cartenders to check it out. While he was at it, I asked him to change the oil and rotate the tires. Pat told me later the engine light is not a reminder type thing, like I thought it might be, but something needing servicing which is probably covered by warranty, so it should go to a dealer. He and his mechanic, Paul Gerard recommended Fred Weinberg, Assistant Service Manager at VOB Nissan. I made an appointment with Fred that evening and left the truck on the night of Jan 28. While talking with Fred, he asked me right away when the last time I had the oil changed, and I told him I just had it done. He said, before the truck had even been examined, that it is probably the oil filter because aftermarket oil filters leak and do not hold pressure, and that I shoulc now know where I can take my truck for a proper oil change. I told Fred the engine light came on before the oil change, and the truck had a Nissan filter in it at that point. He called me the next day to tell me the light was indeed on due to the problem with the filter and that the oil level was half a quart low. I asked him if that small amount would make the engine light come on and he said yes. I told him again, the light was on before the oil change. Then he said, well we don't know what's wrong with it then. (The truck also pulled to the right and VOB did fix that by aligning the front end.) Three days later the service engine light came on again and I took it to VOB Nissan to get it fixed. Fred called me in the morning to say the problem is the oil filter leaking. I reminded him for the 3rd time that the engine light was originally on before I had the oil change at Cartenders. Fred stated he saw oil seepage himself and that it would be $25 for parts and labor for an oil change. I told him OK to change the oil and filter but I would be very angry if the engine light came on again. By this time I was pretty suspicious of Fred with his hard sell oil change routine, so I called Pat at Cartenders to explain the situation. Pat and Paul went over to VOB Nissan in person to speak with the mechanic. They called me back and told me they got the situation straightened out and the truck did not in fact need an oil change but had a bad intake sensor which VOB was replacing. The truck was supposed to be ready by 4 but when I arrived at 4:30 it was not. No phone call from Fred to notify me of this. When I asked him why the truck wasn't ready he said they were having a problem. I asked him what problem. He was evasive and said we're having a problem with the problem we're having. I asked him to be more specific and he said they replaced the intake sensor but the engine light is still coming on. The Service Manager, Bert Bennett was not in the office that day, so I called him the next morning on 02/06. I told him what had been happening with Fred and he said he would investigate. He called back later to say not only was the intake sensor bad, but the camshaft sprocket assembly was also bad and needed replacing. He admitted the truck did not need an oil change or a new oil filter. Bert arranged for me to get a loaner car and when I went to pick it up, I expressed my displeasure at Fred's attempts to get me to purchase an oil change and become a regular oil change customer and considered it akin to fraud. Bert stated that fraud would be if they received money from me for an unneeded service and asked if that happened. I told him no, because I caught them in the act, thanks to my 2 mechanics who investigated the situation. Bert further excused Fred's behavior by stating there was miscommunication between Fred and the mechanic. I told him that is not possible since there was never a need for an oil change or new filter. It was just a fraudulent attempt to get me to pay for a bogus service.

I purchased a new 2006 Xterra about 1 1/2 years ago. I first noticed a rust spot under my back window. When I inquired, I was told it was a rock chip (although in a unlikely place). I have used touch-up paint 3x and the spot just grows larger and larger. When opening the back hatch, there are rusted tags where water pools. Since that time, I have noticed rust colored specks all over my vehicle, particularly on the back where water and snow would splash onto. I have taken it to a detail shop - they weren't able to buff or polish it off. Although, they were able to get the specks off with detail clay. But... then the specks came back. The car dealer and their body shop person says it is fall-out which does not make sense. I work with several other folks who have white cars (as is mine), and they don't have these fall-out spots on theirs.

2004 Nissan Pathfinder with 23,960 miles had reoccurring squeaking belts were replaced under warranty one time. I was charged for adjustment one time (later told belts self adjusting not sure why I was charged then) then good will . Saturday 1/26/08 driving heard noise. Sounded like a belt snapped and then started making a knocking noise. Drove vehicle to dealership as they are open until 1 pm on Saturday. Was told maybe Monday before it is looked at. Called 1/28/08 spoke to service adviser Elaina Arnold. She informed me she had good news and bad news.

Good news I would not have to pay it would be covered bad news I needed a new engine. Totally shocked cause I purchased this vehicle new 10/9/04 and had scheduled maintenance performed. She said they had never seen this happen with a Pathfinder. Altima's yes pathfinder no. Power valve screw fell into the engine. She said it would be covered under powertrian warranty. Was told I would get a rental car and she would call me back. Well after thinking would I have a new engine rebuilt on what cause I have very low miles on the present one. I called her back after the Rental Car Agent called and confirmed when I would be picking up rental car.

She then informed me that Brandy with Nissan had called them back and said it would not be covered under warranty and I would be responsible. Ms. Arnold gave me ref # N0128081605103 I called Nissan and spoke with Jennifer Erwin who could not locate the ref # but opened a new one for me file 6022443 said someone would get back with me no later than closing of the next business day. Wasn't satisifed with that response.

Meanwhile I call back Green Gifford speak to Ms. Arnold told I call Nissan and they didn't have ref # and thought I had written down wrong. Repeated and she said it was correct. She informed that I would still get a rental car. Asked to speak to the Service Manager Mr Powell since he also had been talking to Nissan. He then informed me the rental car would not be covered since the repair is not under warranty. I said well you have lied to me 2 today. First I am covered under warranty then I am not. I have a rental car and now I have to pay out of my pocket.

His smart remark was you were not lied to you were misinformed. Then he preceedes to say if you had bought an extended warranty it would be covered. Well I have purchased 5 Nissans from that dealership over the years and have not had any major problems. I had a few choice words for him with his smart attitude. Not what someone want to hear. Meanwhile I have searched the net to find any similar problems and they are out there. Nissan is aware of the problem but they do not own up to it. Hope you can help

I bought my 2005 Nissan Xterra from this dealership. In the first few months I heard noises from the engine. I took it to the dealership and they said it was the fastener on the serpentine belt. I have this truck for the same problem and repaired at least five times in 2 and a half years. I have forty thousand miles on it and an extended warranty. I either want the vehicle fixed; or replaced. If I have to contact a lawyer I will. The car is at the dealership today; they said, the're waiting to hear the noise again. I want a dependable car; this is not what I paid for. The dealership says; this is one of the defects of the Nissan Xterra. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE

I am having what seems to be a common problem that Nissan will not recognize. My pathfinder was driving fine then started making a clunking noise then it stalled. I brought it to the dealer to be told that 2 screws in the intake manifold back themselves out and got sucked into the engine and completly destroyed it. Nissan is saying it is my problem because i am outside the warranty. But this is a huge manufacturing defect that Nissan knows about and won't recognize. They want $9,000 to put in a new motor or $5,000 for a used one that has more miles then the one I had. The car is only worth a bit more then the repair costs.

At the time of I am writing this it is Fall 2006. My wife's 2005 Pathfinder, which we purchased new, has had 13 separate problems that have typically required one visit to the dealer to diagnose and another to fix. These are the problems the vehicle has had so far:

    1) The fuel filler door broke in a way where it could not be closed.

    2) The rear driver-side window would sometimes refuse to roll up.

    3) The VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control?) had to be reprogrammed.

    4) The towing harness had to be replaced.

    5) The auto-dimming rearview mirror would not dim.

    6) Part of one of the roof rails fell off.

    7) The front passenger-side tire would rub at certain steering angles.

    8) Two panels in the cargo area buckled in under light loads.

    9) The fuel filler neck developed a leak, causing the check engine light to come on.

    10) The fuel system vent valve failed, causing the check engine light to come on.

    11) The fuel system vent valve failed again, causing the check engine light to come on.

    12) The fuel system evaporative cannister became clogged with debris under normal soccer mom use of the vehicle, causing the check engine light to come on ($623.00 if you have to pay for its replacement).

    13) A pressure sensor in the fuel system failed.

I called Nissan Consumer Affairs about the excessive number of problems, and asked them to extend the vehicle's warranty -- WHICH WOULD COST THEM NOTHING IF NOTHING ELSE BREAKS. However, they refused, apparently not caring that I will NEVER buy another Nissan.

Wasted an inordinate amount of time at dealerships waiting for issues to be diagnosed and fixed.

A screw fell out of the intake manifold of my 2002 Nissan Pathfinder and was sucked into a cylinder. The dealer mechanic states that it destroyed the piston and valves as well as gouged the cylinder walls. He says the car was obviously well cared for and there was nothing I could have done to avoid the problem and that it looked like a factory issue.

I am advised that I need a new engine at $10,900 or a used (38,000 miles) motor at $6,900. Nissan refuse to help me on the replacement because the car has 68,000 miles - the warranty is for 60,000. I cannot get through to even argue this with any of the parties to the denial of help - I've simply been told by a charming female voice (Tiffany) that Nissan has decided not to help on this. I've decided never to do business again with a firm that won't even discuss with me.
