We purchased a 2013 Pathfinder and it wasn't cheap! We have had the same issues every other person has had. Cheap interior, foam literally torn from the third row seat, Moore Nissan did nothing (previous to Benton Nissan). Visors droop and block your view. Hood acts as though it's going to fly up on the windshield. We have NEVER been notified that any of this is a recall. Air conditioner compressor went out, transmission recalled, and now the transmission has gone out. We just paid $4600 for a new transmission. Which we were told was NOT a part of the recall. VERY CONVENIENT! It's been 1 week since we picked it up, now the gas pedal stops working.

Nissan has taken a place lower than Chrysler and that is pretty low. Not happy with Benton Nissan because the manager I spoke with said Benton was not responsible for issues with Nissan. They could only give me the Consumer Affair number at Nissan Corporation. The "pass the buck" "cop out" attitude apparently radiates from the top down. Otherwise, ALL these issues would have been recalled. What a disappointment! Nissan being a terrible product. I thought I would NEVER see this day, but it is here! NO more Nissans for me! EVER!

In March 2016 we purchased our Nissan Pathfinder (from 2015). It had around 29.000 km on it. We drive about 20.000 km a year because we don’t use it for work. We pay around $500 CAD every time when our car comes in for service. Front brakes have been replaced, and battery replaced. Now it is 2019 and we have 82.400 km on our car. Our car was in for service on December 27 2018. Another $500 CAD paid. A week after the service appointment we heard a rattling noise under the hood. It got worse over time to a flapping sound and I made another appointment for the car. I was told I had to pay for diagnostic time which was without tax a $110. They told me that I could no longer drive my car and needed a new radiator rad replaced or something like that?

The part wasn’t in stock and had to be flown in from Montreal. The part cost $1198. The fact that it had to be flown in makes me think it doesn’t happen often?? Since it took two and a half hours to put it in we had to pay over $300 CAD in labor costs, two days rental car, and of course the part; a total amount of $1799! I find the maintenance cost for this car very high. Has somebody else experiences like this? Do other people think Nissan is an expensive brand in maintenance? We are thinking of trading it in and go back to Toyota. Even though we enjoy driving this car and the people at the Nissan garage are friendly and helpful, I don’t think we will drive Nissan again.

Nissan was to notify customers that the 2013-2014 Pathfinder had CVT transmission problems. They notified me to bring it in and reset the codes, but not about the transmission failure and what they were court ordered to do about it. I have 24 payments left and of course, Nissan wants me to pay the repair costs for a new transmission. I am on a fixed income. They boasted these cars, convinced consumers to abandon other dealerships for theirs only to sucker punch the customer. A low down dirty shame.

Loud noise coming from loose radiator fan. Only 46k miles. This is an issue with a car that is less than 2 years old. This seems to be a widespread issue based on customer reviews however Nissan will not take responsibility and do a recall to fix. This is my 3rd Nissan and I will never buy another.

Dealer only serviced, locally driven only. 24K miles, needed new tires, not alignment issues, buy cheap grade of tire. 34K Miles-Cooling fans, now I need to have new cooling fans at the sum of $1200 which they have quality issues with. Interior very CHEAP compared to competitive models. I own 4 NISSANS, and I will replace with other brands one at a time. STAY AWAY!

I bought a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder in 2015. We will start with tire rotations, I had to pay for them because I didn't buy the tires from the dealership (Excuse me. I BOUGHT A COMPLETE $47,000 SUV). Okay then there was a recall on brakes, I had to pay for brake shoes so recall was not free. Now, I turn the heat on and this loud rattling noise was coming from under hood, had my boss take a look and was told my fan casing had a loose screw (it was my cooling fan making the noise). I then took my car to Jones Nissan, car was not making noise. About an hour later I was told it was my cooling fan and the out the door price for repairs is going to be $887.00.

Well when I go to pick up the car I was informed that the Cooling Fan usually need to be repaired anywhere between 25,000 and 60,000 miles and it was not covered by the 60,000 5 yr warranty. What I am really pissed about is that Nissan is well aware of the defective Cooling Fan Assembly and is doing NOTHING TO FIX THE ISSUE! I am seriously considering trading this Piece of JUNK in for a Honda Pilot. Google the Cooling Fan Assembly before purchasing this Vehicle! It's not worth it. By the way I had a Honda Accord before this with nearly 0 problems and 0 repair costs. COOLING FAN. Never even heard of it until now, and I've owned 4 cars! Buyer BEWARE!!!

I am beyond FURIOUS at this point with Nissan and probably will never purchase a Nissan again. My powered rear lift to my 2013 Pathfinders tailgate broke off at the mount because it rusted which should never have happened because it's supposed to be sealed off. All I need is a new lift and 1 mount. Everything else still works! Nissan has decided to replace the entire system with a better coating for rust products and removed all the current replacement parts for my vehicle!!! So what should be costing me $300 now will cost me a minimum of $1500 without labor!!! Which is 1/8 of my cars worth at the moment!!! This isn't the only thing they are starting to do this way...

My windshield wipers had a clip near the motor break and instead of replacing the clip I had to buy a whole new motor unit for $450 even though my motor unit worked!!! This is BS at this point!! Making it too expensive to fix my car... Well not even fix at this rate. I'll be replacing all the parts making a brand new car!!! Also, Trim parts are coming off all over the place and it's only 5 years old!

I contacted Nissan about a paint defect and they did an investigation without looking at the car. Paint is bubbling and flaking off on the fender. Not from usual wear and tear... It's a paint defect. I will never buy another Nissan and don't recommend anyone to purchase one. Nissan 2011 Pathfinder should have a paint recall.

Updated on 09/14/2018: They said there was not a recall. They refused to even look at the damage... They said the warranty was up. I bought the car (Nissan Pathfinder 2011) new and it was garage kept... Why won't Nissan stand by their product? I will never purchased another and I would never recommend someone to buy Nissan. I will try to download some photos if this site will allow it.

Contacted Nissan, they refused to provide any help with the repair. NEVER, EVER BUY A NISSAN. They don’t take care of customers and cars are not reliable.

Bought our 2013 Nissan Pathfinder SV in April of 2016 with around 30,000 miles on it. By June of 2016, it needed a transmission replacement. It was still under factory warranty, so initially we weren't concerned. Fast forward to today, August 1, 2018. We have now needed the transmission replaced 4 times - twice in the last 5 months. We rarely tow and never more than its capacity. The dealership even says they see nothing abnormal that would be causing the repeated failures. We've contacted Nissan with our concerns. If we sign an agreement absolving them of all future responsibility with transmission issues. This does not even cover half of the price of a transmission replacement - which we will likely need again within the year.

When we expressed hesitation to accept that offer and asked them how they can ensure this most recent transmission replacement will resolve the issue when that is what we've been told the same thing the other 3 times, with no resolution they only respond with "This is our final offer regarding this issue." Nissan has zero interest in correcting the problem, they just want to wave a small amount in our faces and make us go away. DO NOT buy from Nissan, they do not care about their customers. They simply want to force customers to sign away their right to sue.

Nissan's staff have become combative and rude when we express our concerns that there is no guarantee the problem with the transmission is resolved. They also are denying any extension of warranty, despite the fact that they sent us a letter to extend the warranty in March of 2017. If we sign their agreement, it would nullify any previous warranty extensions.

2013 Pathfinder - First and last time we purchase a Nissan. Not a cheap car and we have had 3 major issues with it since it is out of warranty. The latest issue was the air conditioning compressor. An aftermarket part and the repair was still $1100. To top it all, since the repair, the rear a/c does not work if you are on the bluetooth. This seems to be a mystery to everyone at Nissan. What a fiasco. Not worth the trouble. Good experiences with Toyota and Volkswagen. At least the cars had over 100,000 miles on them before we had to do a really expensive repair. We complained to customer service and they are willing to pay for half of the bill but we still don't have a fully functional vehicle. Do yourself a favor and stay away! I am so turned off of the brand that I am disgusted. Next car we'll be going back to Toyota.

When car shopping, I chose the Pathfinder for the sleek look, the 3rd row seating, the backup camera and the red leather seats. It also came with heated seats, which I love! The sunroof is a nice feature that I wasn't looking for but I am happy about now. When comparing it to other midsized SUV'S with 3rd row seating, it just felt right and I still feel that way years later. I have owned my Nissan Pathfinder for 9 years and have had an amazing experience with it. Other than scheduled maintenance, I have not had to replace any parts on it and have had no mechanical issues. I drive across country often and it is a smooth comfortable ride. But I do not like that the back hatch closes harder than most other vehicles. It almost slams shut. Also, I would improve the accessibility to the 3rd row seating and modernize the body style. Other than that, Nissan got it right.

My Pathfinder LE was a 2007, and at 180,000 KM had the 'known' transmission failure where the transmission line running through the radiator degrades and bleeds coolant into the trans. I had to have the transmission rebuilt at a cost of $6,000. Vehicle ran okay for a while after that, but then began to have cooling system issues.

I'm giving it 2 stars because for the first 150,000 km it was a decent vehicle. The fact that Nissan knows this is an issue though, and chose to hide it from consumers and never has addressed it with Canadian owners is unacceptable. In my opinion, with the reliability of modern transmissions when properly maintained they should function without issue for 300-400 KM.

We have been happy overall with the Pathfinder. For an SUV it has decent gas mileage, good passenger room, and has been pleasant to drive. It has multiple LATCH systems for easy installation of car seats, comfortable front seats, has ample storage space with the third row folded down, easy maneuverability of the passenger seats. Our family of four, with two in car seats, fits comfortably. We have been a lot more mobile now that we have this car. However third row is very cramped and has little luggage space. It is disappointing to find that using the third row is uncomfortable for passengers, including children. We would have liked to see the LATCH system in the third row as well as the second. Better ventilation for the third row would also be an improvement. Also gas mileage could be better.

I have had issues with it getting stuck a lot and had to get it fixed already even though I've only had it for a couple months. I also don't like that this specific year model they ran radiator hoses thru transmission, causing the majority of them problems.

Enjoyed Nissan Pathfinder for the past 2 years as a daily driver for work and family also with travels along with being military and moving every so often. It drives less than the average person does each month and spends most time under a parking garage. But I like that it has touch start sensor, backup camera. We also got a cold weather package with heated seats and steering wheel. I very much enjoyed it, but I would like more driving modes. Parking assistance would be a great addition on but I know we only have a midline level and not a top of the line level for this make and model of car.

Not only did my fan and transmission need to be replaced on a 2016 Nissan Pathfinder with 27000 miles on it but the sensor broke under the passenger seat. Nissan will not replace it under warranty because they said that it is my fault. First of all the flimsy sensor connection is right under the seat and basically had nothing protecting it. They said something must have gotten under the seat and hit it. There is NO reason a very important sensor should be put under the seat where something can hit it and break it. Obviously there is a design flaw!

I am now driving around in a vehicle that has no passenger airbag! I am warning everyone I can not to get a Nissan!!! I am going to contact a lawyer and see if there is anything I can do! I am leasing this and I am not up with my lease until Feb 2019! I no longer feel safe and have my children in this vehicle! Paid for repairs on 3 out of the 4 Doors. I have owned a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder for three years. I purchased it certified pre-owned. Since purchasing the vehicle, both the driver’s side and passenger side interior door handles have broken off and been repaired at my expense. Shortly after the second door handle broke, the switch on my passenger side rear door somehow jammed and the switch does not move. It is stuck in the locked position so the door has to be opened from the outside.

Most recently, I had the molding on the right top of my vehicle pop up due to a broken clip. I took my vehicle to a body shop thinking a clip replacement would not be a significant expense only to find out that Nissan acknowledges the clips break frequently so they quit selling just the clip. It is necessary to purchase a clip that performs the repair on both sides of the roof, you can't just buy one side. So the bottom line here is that Nissan is willing to make money off of consumers as the result of product quality. I ended up paying $425 dollars as a result in lieu of just paying for new clip.

I reached out to Nissan Consumer affairs to see if they would be willing to at least fix the child lock in good faith. They sent me to the local dealership to have them see if there was anything they could do. What a waste of time. My option was to pay the labor cost to have the pop off the inside of the door to just see if there was a quick fix. When the dealership called corporate to see if they would just absorb the half hour of labor cost, it was denied. Needless to say, I will get rid of my Nissan and never own one again.

I bought a brand new Nissan Pathfinder in 2013 and it had many recalls (which is normal for cars) but I was amazed at how many "normal" things broke in the car. Two door handles broke off (inside of the car) as my kids opened the door!!! And the sun visor on the driver's side (and later the passenger side) broke so it would impair my field of vision and I had to use a clamp to hold it in place. Those three things were NOT paid by Nissan... I had to pay out of my own pocket. I have never had a car that would have normal parts break off like that! Horrible and cheaply made car...

I am sure Nissan cut corners to make it cheaper and consumers are getting stuck with a low-quality car. I DO NOT recommend this car to anyone. It looks nice but FALLS APART! I am keeping it because it is paid for... I don't plan to buy another Nissan... So disappointing that the company just says the parts are "out of warranty"... I have had many cars and NONE had a door handle or a sun visor break... It is VERY disappointing!

Are they out of their minds. It’s not covered under warranty nor recalled. Not sure why when I read at least 60 complaints about the same issues I’m having. And they charged me $100 for each thing they had to diagnosis. I’ve had all my oil changes done on a 4000 basis or when needed, but because I don’t have a warranty on engine or record of service through a rip off place like Jiffy Lube. They don’t want to hear it or help me. So therefore I’m careless, with 4 kids and a single mom.

First, I will say that I was probably one of Nissan's biggest fans! This is my 5th Nissan (all purchased new): Altima, Maxima, Pathfinder, Versa and now the 2013 Pathfinder Platinum. The high quality and manufacturing of my previous Nissan vehicles was something I greatly appreciated. However, the purchase of my platinum Pathfinder has consisted of one disappointment after another... Nothing which was covered under Nissan's warranty or the additional "bumper to bumper" warranty sold to us by the dealership (now, which has since changed ownership).

My current ongoing challenge: both of my visors are broken. We were told 2 years ago they aren't covered and will be over $200 for the replacement hinge part alone+ labor (x 2 visors). I have read reviews that people are replacing these, only to have it happen again. So, we are not putting out the $500+ to replace them. I deal with the falling visor as I drive and still search for a way to "rig" it myself for safety purposes.

We have already replaced the driver's door handle which broke off, front wheel bearing (which was finally diagnosed by a small private shop after extremely loud road noise and buying new tires and having it checked by 4 auto shops). The rear bumper sensor is faulty resulting in backing into something, problems with transmission shifting (but haven't had to replace yet), severe hood vibration on the expressway (purchased and installed a hood air deflector which helps slightly). The list really goes on and on.

This was my dream car. We purchased a 40K car, buying into Nissan's quality and reliability. We purchased brand new to avoid constant repair costs and the inconvenience of running back and forth to the shop. This adds additional challenges, as it leaves our family without 1 car, while repairs are made. Additionally, the gas mileage is nowhere close to what Nissan claimed. Sadly, at this rate for repairs, frustration and disappointment... This will be my last Nissan purchase. The poor workmanship with multiple parts breaking has been disappointing enough, but the additional cost of repairs and lack of responsibility of Nissan (and the dealership) has cost them the good and loyal customers in our family. I understand there is a learning curve with new car models, but the cost penalties for the manufacturing defects should not be passed on to the consumer.

And on top of that get denial for repair even though we have warranty on it???

I bought a 2016 Nissan Pathfinder last August and the car starter in the car was factory installed and it does not heat up or defrost the windows in the winter or cool it off in the summer. It's been in the shop 4-5 times and they tell me it only starts the car to get the juices flowing, once you start the car manually the blower turns on. Was never informed of this when I bought the car and I can't go anywhere else to have a car starter put in because it's still under warranty. I don't even have 7500 miles on my car. I am very unhappy with this. Will never buy another Nissan product again because they don't want to be held accountable to fix this problem.

I am very disappointed about the way my car is operating. My sales experience at East Nissan in Charlotte, NC was great. My sales representative, Ronald **, made sure I had an excellent purchasing experience. It's the car itself. First it was a headlight. Got it fixed. A few weeks later, the other one. Meanwhile... I had been questioning my park lights working and had been assured by service staff that they were indeed working. They lied. My lights were not working. After numerous recalls, and parts not available to repair, I went in for a simple oil change and was told that I needed $1500 (rotors and brakes) worth of work done to my car. Now... I purchased my car in 2013, straight off the showroom floor... I was in love. That love soon dissolved because it was always one thing after another. So... I paid to have the $1500 worth of work done...

Since then, my car has not run properly to me. My wheels squeak, the front right tire feels like I am running over something constantly, the door seals keep coming off and one has a hole in it. When I put my car in gear, it sometimes stuck and I have to stay in place before it will move as directed. Sun visors... Oh yeah, they had to be replaced because they began to just fall anytime they wanted to while I was driving... Nissan did replace but they wanted me to pay initially... I refused. I have grown to dislike my car quite a bit. I also considered trading my Pathfinder... At the dealership I was told my car was upside down... but the bank had just told me that I had plenty of equity and worth in my vehicle now... I'm really confused and even more upset. You have hurt my feelings tremendously Nissan.

My 2008 Nissan Pathfinder has been having heating issues for about 2 years and no one could figure out why. Turns out there was slow leak in the radiator. Once my mechanic found the leak, we changed the radiator, hoses, etc. $1100 worth of work. My mechanic said he had to flush the transmission 3 times to get the coolant out but he was still not sure if the transmission would make it or not. Needless to say, 2 days later my car stopped working at a stoplight. It just would not move. Now I need a new transmission.

I just assumed I had the worst luck in the world but when my mechanic said he was having a hard time finding a used transmission I was like, "Wait a minute?? Out of all the Pathfinders out there, none of them got totaled and still had a good transmission in it??" I started to do some research and found out about the lawsuit and that thousands of other people have been in my exact situation. I never received a letter and at this time am 13,000 miles over the extended warranty they issued to all Nissans between years 2005-2010. How am I supposed to know about any of this without my car dealer notifying me?

I bought the car from Nissan, they have my information and I can prove the problem started within warranty. I have spoke with several people from Nissan North America to no avail. Not even a little compassion was given. Just a "Nope, can't help you." So I spent well over $30,000 for a car that only lasted a little over 100,000 miles. That not only seems outrageous but the fact that over 380,000 other Nissans had the same, exact issue and all they were made to do was extend our warranty makes me furious. Even if this would have happened in warranty I would still be liable for at least half the cost.

Since when did this county start letting big companies take advantage of the little people? Not only did they try to deny and cover it up, but when they were found out, they received a slap on the wrist. My local Nissan dealer was no better so I will never buy a Nissan or anything affiliated with Nissan ever again and warn everyone I know not to either. I still owe on my car so I will be spending another 6 grand at least to get it back into working order so I do not lose me any more money than I already have.

Bought '13 Pathfinder in 2015 with 30k miles. Within 3 days had it taken to Nissan for jumping/lurching and airbag light on passenger side. They did a software update to the transmission and did nothing about the light as it was intermittent. Everything is good until 88k miles. Had oil changed and mechanic (close family friend) said oil looked extremely bad which didn't make sense as he was the person who had changed our oil every 4-5k miles.

Took it to shop as it started smoking and was told it would need a new engine as the piston rings had gone bad and repair cost more than replacement. Ok no worries. I thought it stinks but that's what warranties are for. Well we got the car back and 3 days later the check engine light comes back on and now my brakes are failing. As well as needing a new alternator, new drivers side sunvisor, now I get a recall notice. Take it to Nissan again to be told I need a new transmission due to the recall. Now, luckily this has all been covered under warranty for me, but this does not seem to be the case for most people.

I have owned four other Nissans this being my fifth, and they were all great cars. It saddens me deeply to see a company this large using their collective size and clout to treat their customers this way. The 2013-2014 Nissan Pathfinders should have all been taken off the road by now due to the many safety and mechanical issues they have. I cannot see myself purchasing another Nissan after the reliability of this vehicle. I, like many others, pay well over 500$ a month for our cars and can't afford to keep fixing it when my warranty does run out. If you are considering purchasing a Nissan, I would advise to buy brand new and purchase the most comprehensive warranty you can get as you will need it. If not you will be left waiting for countless hours at dealerships and shops for your vehicle. Again, I am a die hard Nissan fan here but am afraid I will have to consider purchasing a different brand as soon as I am able.

Unfortunately, the fact that I just had to put $5,000 into the car for the intermix issue and another $1,000 for a new fuel pump is unbelievable. I couldn't stay because I had to go to work, and they didn't tell ahead of time when I was scheduling my meeting. However, they replace the accelerator fluid for me on that day. I picked up my car the same day in the evening. I got a rental car the first time.

The second time I went there is 2 days after the first service (because of the weekend). The same issue didn't resolve. I made early appointment like the first time. While I was at the service desk, a second service guy came up (the one who helped me the first time). He started screaming at me saying that I should stay there for the technician to come and do a test drive with him. He was saying that there was nothing wrong with my car and I was wasting their money and time because of the rental car they were providing and the service that they were providing. I was so confused because if there weren't anything wrong with my car, how did they fixed something the first time. He was so loud and so angry at me and made me feel like I was doing something wrong.

I agreed to stayed for 30 minutes to wait for the technician to show up and do a test drive. I cried at the waiting area to my husband on the phone and said I would never come back to do the service again because I felt so insulted. Being screamed at in front of 3 other customers and 4 other service guys. 30 minutes later, he came up to me and said that the technician called off that day and sent me to the rental car department. They called later that day and told me that there was nothing wrong with the car and my husband went and pick up my car later on.

My car was and is still doing the same and it got worse. It is shaking while I’m doing any speed limit at a stable speed. It is shaking while I’m making a turn. Yesterday, after starting the car, when I shift to reverse, the car went forward. I shut off the car and started the car again, I put in drive and it went reverse. I shut off the car for a few more minutes and turned it back on, it went normal again. It is still shaking pretty badly while driving.

Me and my husband got this car because of my 6 months' unborn baby. I'm very concern about the safety while driving it nowadays, but i have to get to work every day with this car. I never wanted to go back there for the service because I'm so disappointed at them and I'm not going back there to be screamed at again. My husband doesn't have time in the morning to drop off the car. I am very frustrated at this moment.

After a new radiator and transmission flush (it was flushed twice to ensure there was no more coolant mixed), it was determined the throttle sensor inside the transmission was fried due to the coolant. The part was $1,200.00 by itself. I have a family member at a dealership that was able to fix everything for $2,500.00 for about $4,000.00 worth of work. The car was running fantastic after being put back together.

After driving it with no problems for about two months, it just decided to randomly stop moving forward. She was able to drive it at about 20 mph in a 45 mph zone, but after parking, it wouldn't even shift anymore. It's now sitting at the dealership waiting on yet another verdict on what's happening. I'll never purchase another Nissan based on this experience and after learning that Nissan has taken NO responsibility, specifically stating that it's "not a safety concern." My fiancé sitting in traffic unable to move isn't a safety issue??? Thanks Nissan. We struggle to pay bills as it is. Oddly, we don't have thousands of dollars to put into keeping it moving.

After contacting the BBB and what I assume, continued support by the dealership service department, Nissan NA authorized the replacement of our transmission. Work was provided in a very fast manner, we were provided a rental car to meet our family needs and the warranty on the vehicle was lengthened to 60 months / 120,000 miles. Good on you Nissan NA, and outstanding support through Bronco Motors in Nampa, ID!

2014 Pathfinder purchase 12/31/2013 new. Currently have 12,300 miles. Tried to ignore the transmission problem, as it was random, and I figured CVT's ran like that. Almost was in an accident in June, so off to the dealer I went. They did some recall work, including the flash to fix the transmission. In the last couple months it reappeared and again very random. I took it back to the dealer whom could not replicate and no fault code. Service Consultant and tech said it has a problem but that Nissan North America would not authorize any work unless it through a code. Nissan NA confirmed the need of a code but happily provided me with an address to have an attorney send a description to represent, or something like that.

Occurred under 25mph, slowing down and the accelerating, especially in a turn. Also occurs around 40mph when accelerating through the shifting point, or whatever the CVT does. I'm afraid of the safety of my family, as well as other drivers. Should this occur when acceleration is necessary, things may not end well. That being said, the folks at the dealership have been outstanding.

I purchased my 06 Nissan Pathfinder in 2008. I was very happy with this purchase as my family has grown and it has been a great vehicle up until this point. It started with the transmission slipping and the car making a crumbly grinding noise and then when I would start to put it in drive it would barely go. I took it into the shop and the repairman told me it was a default in the radiator fluid mixing with the transmission. I am now paying 5000 dollars to have both pieces replaced as I am trying to stay away from a car payment at this time.

The warranty that Nissan reissued on these repairs is very crappy and I know it is so that they can avoid a recall. They need to do a recall on all of these vehicles and make the situation right for all of the consumers that have spent all of our hard earned money on their vehicle. I really enjoyed having my Pathfinder up until this point. I hope that the repairs last a few more years. However I will never ever buy a Nissan product again.

2008 Pathfinder with 50,800 miles. May 8, 2015, My wife ran drove down an incline and up the other side at a fast rate. The incline was enough to cause the curtain airbags to deploy. Took the vehicle to the State Farm select service center. They had it for 4 weeks trying to repair. They took the pathfinder to the dealership for repair. The dealership says the Harness for the curtain airbags is no longer manufactured by Nissan and they have sent the wiring harnesses to Aeromotive for repair. Why doesn't Nissan maintain a parts inventory for their vehicles? The Nissan salesmen tell me once the airbags deploy, the car is totaled and the value of the car is $2500.00. 11 weeks and still waiting for a repair or a decision to total from the insurance company.

What a disappointment this experience has been. I don't think the Nissan Service dept. has the experience or expertise or talent to get the job done. When I first purchased the vehicle NEW in 2008, I was given a complimentary oil change. When I brought the Pathfinder home, it was dripping oil in my driveway. I found the oil filter access cover with loose bolts, but the oil was simply because it had dripped on the cover and the "tech" did not have the sense to clean it off. I should have known then. Maybe Nissan does not have a good training program for their "mechanics".

Now, I am left wondering, is the failure of overall Nissan to manufacture parts to keep the old ones repaired, or is the service dept.'s lack of ability to perform the repairs. I am soooo Disappointed in Nissan. They do not even try to keep me as a customer. I was provided a loaner car up to $900.00 by my insurance company. That ran out after 5 weeks. Ideally, Nissan should provide me a loaner until they fix it, or convince State Farm to total the vehicle. Obviously, keeping a customer is too expensive for Charles Barker (dealership owner). Nissan for life is only a saying, not a way of life or promise for the dealership.

We purchased our 2007 Nissan Pathfinder on May 21 of this year. Today makes 39 days we've had it. On the 32nd day we noticed it was having some roughness in the transmission when changing gears. It felt like we were running over really rough roads or rumble strips. It continued to get worse the longer we drove it. Then around a week ago I put it in reverse and it continued to roll forward. I immediately drove home to inform my husband. When he checked the transmission fluid it appeared to be empty. When he further checked it and cleaned the dipstick it was a tannish colored liquid that was showing up. I went to Google and found that many others with this same or similar vehicle was having the same problem and that the problem was a leak in a radiator hose that runs thru the transmission and leaks fluids back and forth.

My husband went to check the radiator and sure enough there is transmission fluid in the radiator and it appeared in the engine as well. So now we have transmission fluid, water, and antifreeze in our transmission, radiator and engine. Nissan needs to step up and take care of this problem. It's clear that this is a

flaw in their workmanship. We were told by Nissan to bring our Pathfinder in for an evaluation and be prepared to pay 2,500.00 dollars. Needless to say we are paying a payment already on a vehicle we have had for one month. We can't afford this kind of repair. So now were stuck with a car we can't even drive.

I bought my '06 pathfinder with 92k miles for 10 grand in July of 2014. At 102k miles I started experiencing shuttering and vibrations during shifting. After a quick Google search I learned of the radiator problem and was horrified that I bought a ticking time bomb. My husband replaced the radiator for a cool $150 and we thought maybe, just maybe we could get a few more years out of the vehicle. The shuttering stopped for about 6 months and then picked back up with a vengeance. (Water had already ruined the tranny.)

It stopped shifting in April of 2015. I paid to have the trans rebuilt, and wish I hadn't even bothered. Paid 4g and have had to take it back 3 times already. Hard downshift still, even after replacing the computer in the transmission and multiple other aspects per my transmission warranty. Overheats and won't go into overdrive. This car is a real PIECE and my biggest regret thus far in life. If you have busted your butt to save up the cash to buy a car flat out like I did, look further than ANY Nissan vehicle. Car ran fine until 47K miles and the transmission and cooling system went bad due to their design flaw, which allows coolant to leak into the transmission. They repaired it at no charge due to the class action suit against them. All new cooling system and transmission. I drive the car for another 47K miles. THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPENS AGAIN. I need a new cooling system and transmission. This time, Nissan wants me to pay a $3,000 "co-pay" to get the repair done. Their contention was that the vehicle had 96K miles on it by this time. I explained, as nicely as I could, that the transmission and cooling system had only 47K miles on it.

They reviewed our case and refused to eat any more of the cost after they knowingly replaced the entire system with the same defective parts which went bad in the same number of miles. I'm sure they thought that after the first repair, I'd have long sold the vehicle and it would be someone elses problem. I keep my cars for a long time and keep them very well maintained, but they weren't expecting that. And they refused to stand behind their product. Just Google "Nissan Transmission Problems" if you want thousands of other opinions. We ended up trading it in and getting a competitor's vehicle. The service manager shocked me when she said I needed a new transmission, because antifreeze had leaked into transmission and ruined it. She proceeded to tell me I need a timing chain, u-joints, muffler clamps and that I should have taken better care of my truck. She advised I should get a new truck. The cost would be a total of 4,500.00 dollars for the repair! I left in disbelief knowing a truck with this amount of miles should not need a transmission.

I researched on the web and found that Nissan was aware of a defect in the radiator that caused this problem, not only on my truck but other Nissan models as well. They settled a lawsuit that favors Nissan, but neglected to inform any of their customers like myself with a heads up if the issue has not happened yet. I have to pay the first 3000.00 dollars of the repair and Nissan will pick up the rest. This is outrageous- the cause of the problem was a defective radiator, this should have been recalled. The service adviser did not notify me of this issue at the dealership and as of yet has not sent me a detailed estimate of the repair. This should be a safety issue since the trans could slip at some time causing an accident. Nissan Consumer affairs division has not responded with a remedy with my complaint. Worked with Nissan engineering team and replaced radio again. This time it worked on the day when I picked my vehicle from the service center but it stopped working within a week after that.

I again went to Nissan service center and this time they told me that it is not their problem, it is Nissan problem and they suggested me to talk to Nissan. I had at least 7 to 8 visits to this service center by this time.

I finally contacted Nissan customer care. They registered a case and assured that they are going to resolve my issue. I was so happy that they are going to address the issue or at least replace the vehicle. Nissan took at least 4 weeks for investigating the case and finally came back saying that the radio is not considered a mechanical problem and they can't do anything for that. It is considered as an accessory and Nissan is not responsible for that. They suggested me to go to the service center again they will replace the item.

I reminded them that I had at least 7, 8 visits to the service center. They replaced the radio at least 3 times and wasted my whole day during every visit. They still suggested me to continue going to the service center, which is really frustrating. This is a brand new car and under bumper to bumper warranty for 5 years. This vehicle was purchased at the end of 2013 in North Texas at a Nissan Dealership. After 10,000 miles the CVT started giving problems under low speed or incline conditions, shaking very violently and almost stopping on the highways in inclines while at low speed. I took the car to the dealer in North Texas, they reprogrammed the software and the problems stop for a few months. Then at 16,000 miles or so I took the car back to the dealership and I was told I have to leave the car with them for several days to try to replicate the problem (which is absurd since it cannot be replicated since it happens suddenly) and only then they will contact Nissan Corporate to see if they will approve repairs on the car.

As of today, the car has 23,000 miles and the CVT transmission is acting again under low speeds and inclines. Interesting enough, I just received a recall notice from Nissan 15V033 to fix the secondary Hood Latch and at the same time they will update the CVT Diagnostic Software on the car. I do have two Nissan cars, I will trade them for another brand as soon they fix this 2013! And I will make none in my family buys a Nissan in the future.

I then stated that this is not an acceptable response to the issue that I am experiencing and requested someone from Nissan corporate come out and look at it.

This issue still hasn't been resolved and I have only owned the vehicle for 2 years. When I initially purchased the vehicle I also had the Certified Pre-Owned inspection done so that I could get an extended warranty and since inspection and purchase have only put 10,000 miles on the car which would mean it was time for me to perform the first alignment since I have purchased the vehicle. I have also obtained the previous used car inspection from the dealership where I purchased the vehicle that also performed an alignment. It doesn't make any sense to me that something like this could happen in only 2 years.

I know other manufacturers that have had similar issues with control arms and cross member and have issued recalls for customer that have experienced these sorts of problems. Two manufactures come to mind those being Ford and Hyundai.... Nissan needs to do the same and help the people that have purchased these vehicles. It is not fair to all of the consumers that have had to pay to have these repairs done. I'm sure Nissan and their dealer locations have made a pretty penny off of sub-par manufacturing. I bought a Nissan Pathfinder 2006, 50,000 miles. In 3 months, it has been in the Nissan Service department. Car cranks but won't start. They have replaced sensors, fuel pump. Nissan 2006 have no fuel filters. This will be the 4th time it goes back to Nissan Service, already $2,500 worth of repairs. This vehicle has been serviced only by Nissan Service since its first mile. I paid $23,000 for this vehicle, still financing.

I am very disappointed in Nissan. I have driven them in the 90's, 200,000 miles, no problems. Buy one with 50,000 miles, every month, it is needing service. I will trade this vehicle in. Nissan will no longer exist as far as I am concerned. You must make Quality Vehicles. It is not normal for a Vehicle at 50,000 miles to have so many problems. How many more sensors, and expensive repairs$$, OR are Nissan Dealers benefiting by making faulty cars. A company I trusted for 30 years no longer makes Quality Cars. Please reconsider before buying one of these. We learn our mistakes by making them. Some can be more expensive $$ than others.

A resident of NC, I purchased a 2014 Pathfinder from Crown Nissan in Greenville SC in February 2014. I purchased there because they had the model & color I wanted and the lowest price available. After about 11,000 miles the CVT (transmission) began to shudder at low speeds, especially when climbing hills. The CVT also pulsed while cruising at highway speeds. This behavior began to increase until the CVT totally failed while I was traveling on the interstate from Charlotte NC back to Asheville one Sunday afternoon in October 2014. At 70 mph the CVT dropped out, red-lining the RPM. I shifted to neutral to calm the engine and coasted up a ramp. Fortunately we were near Statesville, NC and had the car towed to Classic Nissan in Statesville.

Since it was a Sunday, that meant spending a night in a hotel, and missing work on Monday morning. Classic Nissan verified that the CVT had failed and they replaced/repaired it within 5 days. Great service from them. After another 1,000 miles on the rebuilt CVT, the issues started again so I took the car to Anderson Nissan in Asheville. They could not confirm any problems despite the fact that I have a few videos of it acting up. After the tech had a conversation with Nissan corporate, I was told the CVT was running normally, doing just what it was designed to do, and there was nothing they could do to address the issue. The service techs at Anderson seemed to be in my corner, but said they could not get Nissan to authorize any repair.

At that point, I took to the internet and posted a few complaints to Nissan. After about an hour, I received an email from someone at Nissan who monitors their Facebook account. He said someone from Nissan Consumer Affairs would be in touch by 5pm the following day. Sure enough, at 4:55pm the following afternoon I received a call from Consumer Affairs. The conversation was short; Nissan maintained their position that the car was working properly. I asked, "if that is the case, why don't new cars behave that way right off the lot?" I also asked about all the negative comments on the internet regarding this same problem. No matter how I asked the questions the response was the same, "I'm sorry sir. The car is running properly; there's nothing we can do for you." Nissan has very carefully trained their phone staff to not answer any question or admit to anything being wrong no matter what.

Here is where the NC/SC issue arises. I asked about lemon laws and she referred me to the BBB Auto Line Dispute program. Well guess what? They can't give you any answers or advice until you file a claim. I then found an attorney site online that at least answered my lemon law question. Sadly, despite living in NC, because I bought the car in SC only the SC lemon laws apply. In SC the complaint must occur within the first 12,000 miles (NC is 24,000 miles) so since the CVT failed at 13,200 miles I was out of luck.

About two weeks later, I received a form letter from Nissan Consumer Affairs saying that after "careful consideration" and a review of "all the facts pertaining to my situation," they are not in a position to repurchase my vehicle. Amazingly enough, I never asked for that! I like the car well enough, I just want them to honor their warranty promise to me to fix my car when it fails due to design and/or workmanship problems. Simple enough - FIX MY CAR!

As a Realtor, I have ample opportunity to drive clients and other agents in my vehicle. You can imagine the conversations when we are on an incline or are merging into highway traffic and instead of a surge of power, all I get is a shuddering, jerking transmission. I do not hesitate to discuss Nissan and their lack of customer service and so far I have managed to discourage a few from ever buying a Nissan.

Seriously, this is not just an inconvenience; it's also a safety issue. With the number of similar reports of CVT problems all over the internet, you'd think Nissan would address these problems with a recall. My advice to anyone considering a Nissan - If it has a CVT transmission (and most of their current lineup does), DON'T BUY IT. They do not care about you once they have your money. Also, let me clarify: I have no issues with any of the dealerships mentioned within; only with Nissan corporate. The dealerships and service departments have been great to work with.

2007 Nissan Pathfinder: I am having the infamous transmission issue that has blown up all over the Internet about coolant leaking into the transmission fluid. Basically the transmission lines run through the radiator to cool the transmission and it cracks, causing a lethal dose of coolant to wipe out the transmission. To this point Nissan has simply shrugged it's shoulders saying, too bad, even though this is a blatant design flaw. I have owned 50 cars over the past 20 years and this is my first Nissan, which was purchased for our nanny. So either they step up to the plate and do something about this or I will never purchase another Nissan, nor will I let anyone I know purchase a Nissan and I have many employees I can tell my story to.

I am completely frustrated with my 2013 Nissan Pathfinder. A month hasn't gone by where I haven't had some issue. It started with a parking sensor error. I have had it in multiple times, only to hear them tell me it is because my car is dirty. While it continues to be an issue, I just choose to ignore it. I have trouble with radio stations just randomly changing while I'm driving. Then I began having problems with the backup camera - the picture will just roll on the screen. My most recent and frustrating problem is with the transmission. While driving down the highway I started getting this sudden (and increasingly frequent) jolt, almost like I was slamming on the brake for a second. When I called I was told to bring it in. Luckily it did it for them and I was told it was a computer issue - it was reset, and the car was safe.

A month or so passed and guess what...same thing happened. I took it back I and was told they will replace the transmission. There was a "special bulletin" that this was the next step in correcting the problem. Well, needless to say, when they drove it they had no problems so I was told to pick it up and nothing was replaced. I pick up my vehicle, get 5 miles down the road and it starts happening again!! I will never purchase or lease from Nissan if I'm treated like these problems are not real!!

In 11/13 I purchased a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder. A few weeks later I noticed the transmission slipping/stuttering. I didn't realize that's what it was because there was snow and ice on the ground and I figured that's where the stuttering was coming from. After several calls and trips to the dealership over the period of 6 months, they finally determined I had a bad trans. It was recently replaced, 3 weeks later I'm driving again and the same stuttering is happening.

Nissan knows the CVT for those vehicles are faulty, yet they refuse to replace my car. I am so angry and frustrated because I put a significant down payment on the car and I continue to make monthly payments on a vehicle that's never been optimal. Lights flicker in the car, most recently the back up camera light was on, but nothing was on the camera. That too has been replaced. My daughter hit a pole because the backup camera never detected something was behind her, the dealership said it wasn't mounted. Now I have to pay $500 to have it repaired through insurance. Additionally, while my transmission is stuttering I can only imagine what I lose in gas mileage and how it affects my brakes because I have to hit them every time it happens.

I am annoyed and frustrated with Nissan because they will not take ownership of this problem, but instead allow the consumer, me, to suffer the consequences of their negligence. Even the people at the dealership told me it was a manufacturers problem and not to blame them. They know and you know this car is a lemon and I don't want to be stuck paying for a piece of junk. I've been turned down for the buyback once and am waiting to hear if I can get the car replaced. Meanwhile, my credit is suffering because I feel trapped in my loan paying for a car that won't be worth the metal it drives on.

DON'T ever get your vehicle serviced here AND DON'T ever purchase ANY kind of Nissan. In 2005 I was the proud owner of a brand new 2005 Nissan Pathfinder. Later in that year the brakes would squeal and squeal. After numerous times in and out of service (with no offer for a rental) AND a note to the service manager that we would pursue lemon law on our vehicle all of a sudden we had a whole new brake job! Hip Hip Hooray. Now I will say that for the following 7 years things were OK with our service. We just never had a consistent service advisor. Seemed like it was a different person each time we came in. Fast forward to March of last year. Our Pathfinder, which we have ONLY had serviced at Nissan is having some trouble. My wife gets stuck in dangerous situations and intersections with our 3 children. We find out that the transmission is contaminated. So I do a lot of research to find out that this is a "known" issue with all 05, 06, and 07 Pathfinders, Xterra's and Frontier vehicles. Nissan settled a dispute and offered customers a warranty extension to 100k miles, but we were never told what the problem was and how to avoid it.

Meanwhile THOUSANDS of Nissan customers, like myself, are forced to pay $4k-$5k to fix this problem. The inner cooler seal breaks and leaks coolant into the transmission and contaminates it. This was the way Nissan built their transmission, but will not stand up behind it. Long story short, after filing numerous claims with Nissan local and international and getting local news to pursue my case Nissan basically said "screw you". So I save my money and find the most inexpensive way to get my transmission fixed. After 8 months of the car sitting I finally get it fixed. However, the battery (which I purchased from Nissan) is now dead, but still under warranty. So I am forced to go to Auto Nation Nissan and get a new battery. While I was there I decided I should get an oil change. Steven (the service advisor on hand) listens to my story again and says that, "He'll take care of me." Actually mentions that Nissan is ending their program to "comp" people when there are problems. So I said to Steven, "So you're going to take care of me on that battery and oil change right? " He says, "Yes".

Let me just mention that I said numerous times to Steven that I realize the transmission is not his fault, but that he could do a great job at keeping my business by "taking care" of my 2 issues today. Well I come to pick up my Pathfinder and I have a bill for $65 something. WHAT? Are you kidding me? They call Steven up and he actually has the nerve to tell me he told me the oil change would be $39.99. Are you kidding me? He then says he'll see what he can do. So I wait another 10 minutes and he says he can't do the whole bill and takes some off my bill. (My bill is now $39). ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I tell Steven "You have lost a customer for life and I will tell everyone I know." So here I am - telling everyone I know!! DON'T spend a penny on ANY Nissan products, repairs, service, etc. NISSAN YOU SUCK!!! There is a special place in Hell for people and companies like you. $38... That was worth it to lose a customer for life. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

I ended up paying a bunch out of pocket. Then a noise that was coming from the front of the engine got louder and louder. Come to find out there are a ton of owners complaining that the timing chain goes out anywhere from 50,000 to 100,000 miles, average around 75,000 to 85,000.

I took my 2013 Nissan Pathfinder in for service at Haldeman Nissan NJ (where I leased it). They told me that I needed 4 new tires (treadwear at 2/32, 3/32, 4/32, and 5/32) and proceeded to try and sell me them. When I looked up the tire (Continental M & S 235 R18 106t Cross contact) I found that they are rated for 65,000. I questioned why they were trying to sell me new tires when they should be replacing them as defective. They were ready to take my money and steal from me.

Then the very nasty service manager offered to prorate the one tire (2/32) and prorate the rest once they were down to 2/32.

I told him that I shouldn't have to pay for defective tires and he told me that was the warranty and that I could call the tire manufacturer. I asked him to call the manufacturer or Nissan corporate and he refused. He also told me that he has the same vehicle and that the tires only last 30,000. Nissan sold 130,000 vehicles last month, that's over 500,000 tires and they want me to contact Continental? I didn't buy from Continental, I bought from Nissan and they are refusing to stand behind what they sold and promised me.

So, basically they (Nissan) knows that they are selling vehicles with bad tires and don't care or wish to help. I received no help from their consumer relations people, again being told to call the manufacturer with no assistance from them. Why should I have to buy (even at a pro-rated price) new tires for a leased vehicle that I will give back in a little over a year when the tires only lasted 40% of their rated mileage? Great for Nissan because then they won't have to replace the tires when they resell it. It's almost as if this were the plan?

I have been driving Nissans for over 20 years and this is how they treat me and support their customers? While I still like the vehicles, it is obvious to me that they no longer support their customers. Perhaps, it is the new French ownership. I am considering contacting a lawyer about a possible class action lawsuit. If anyone else has the same or similar issues and would like to share their story, email me at **.

DRIVE YOUR NISSAN PATHFINDER AT YOUR OWN RISK! I am exceptionally disappointed with Nissan Motors Corp. and Poughkeepsie Nissan in NY. A couple of weeks ago, on an early Friday evening (Oct 10th), I had a horrible situation in my brand new 2014 Nissan Pathfinder. I had just come off the interstate and stopped behind a semi truck that was taking up most of both turning lanes. Once the light turned green and saw that the truck was not moving, I decided to go around it. I looked back and saw that a car was coming off the interstate at a decent speed but safe enough for me to get out from behind the semi. I hit the gas to get in the left lane. Not even halfway passed the truck I realize that the gas is NOT responding and at this point my engine has completely SHUT DOWN. You can imagine my panic as I have a car coming up behind me and a semi to my right and the light about to turn red. I immediately hit the hazards and thankfully I'm able to coast through the light and over to the shoulder safely before having a horrible accident with my daughter and her two friends in the car. I noticed that everything on the dash was still on so I hit the engine on/off button and everything else shuts off.

I hit it again and the engine turns over and everything seems to be running smoothly so I drive the car back home. Reluctantly and as nervous as I was... I HAVE to drive my SUV over the weekend because it's my ONLY form of transportation. I call Poughkeepsie Nissan on Saturday and they make an appointment for me on Monday (Oct 13th) to bring it in. I give them the story as to what happened and told them that I was extremely nervous about driving the Pathfinder. I was afraid that it would shut down again and possibly cause a horrible accident. Service department was very understanding and tried to help me as much as they could. They put me in a rental and I was on my way. They called me the next day to tell me that they couldn't find anything wrong with the Pathfinder. They test drove it for 61 miles and checked the DTC which is the computer that records any malfunction in the vehicle and it shows NOTHING. At this point Service is stumped. They call me with this information and I went in that Tuesday (10/14) and spoke to the Service Director and told him that I was NOT going to take the Pathfinder unless they found out what happened.

There's NO WAY I'm putting my life or my children's lives in possible danger AGAIN. He completely understood and was sympathetic to my situation and said that he would call corporate again for any other ideas. They called corporate for some suggestions and corporate said to check the fluid in the transmission which was clean. For the record... It already got its first oil change. The following day I get a call from the service department and they said that corporate "thinks" that it may have been the "brake switch relay." This is a mechanism that was installed into all Nissans after the Toyota mess with the gas pedal problems. This mechanism is in place to prevent the brakes and the gas pedal to be used simultaneously. It shuts the engine down for safety. Doesn't make sense to me as to how that's "safe", but I'm not a car designer. They tell me that there's nothing else that corporate can tell them and their hands are basically tied and ask me to bring the rental back and to pick up the Pathfinder. I come back in on Wednesday, Oct 15th and once again speak to the service director and plead my case that I'm NOT comfortable with corporate playing a GUESSING GAME with me and my family's SAFETY.

He once again is sympathetic and tells me that there's nothing else they can do, but gives me a number to call for help (800-Nissan-one) and to let them know what happened and what my concerns are and he also tells me that they have already sent in my paperwork to Nissan Consumer Affairs. I thank him but I REFUSE to take back the Pathfinder, so I leave with my oldest son. At this point I don't know what my options are and I'm worried and scared. I decide to speak to my sales rep. and tell him the story and see what can be done. He directs me to the GM, but he couldn't talk to me so I speak with another manager. I proceed to tell him the story and as everyone else he's very sympathetic. Since my Pathfinder is a lease, he thinks that maybe they can buy it back, but then my payments would shoot up to make the difference in what I owe versus what they would pay for the car. I ask them to just "trade" it out, but they can't do that.

Corporate is the only one with that kind of authorization. He tells me that they will make sure that corporate knows my situation and my concerns. I thank him for his time, leave and call the number given to me by the service director and speak to someone who directs me to someone that is "handling my case." I leave a detailed message for Samantha at Consumer Affairs ** and ask to be called back. I receive a call back from Samantha on Thursday, Oct. 16th and once again, like everyone else she's VERY understanding as to my situation and wants to help. I also tell her that I'm NOT getting in a car that NO ONE knows what happened and that I'm in need of desperate assistance and to please let me know what Nissan can do to get me in another vehicle if they CAN'T find the EXACT problem. She said that I can put in for a car replacement/trade or a buy back. I agree and am thankful. At that time I take the opportunity to tell her that BECAUSE of this situation, I don't have a vehicle. I'm a single mom with three kids and I'm constantly on the go with SAT classes, sports, doctor's appointments and many other errands and I need Nissan to provide me with a vehicle while this case is being looked at (she said it takes about 10 days for corporate to decide.)

Samantha then tells me that she unfortunately does not have the authorization to get me a loaner car, but that if I call Poughkeepsie Nissan, they'll have that authorization. GREAT... OK! I call Poughkeepsie Nissan and speak to the same sales manager and he immediately says that that's not true. He cannot give that authorization because they don't have any "loaner cars." He asks me for Samantha's name and direct line. I even give him my case number. He tells me that he will call her right away. Ok... I run in to the sales manger at the mall that evening (after borrowing a car from my son that goes to college), he says that he left Samantha a message and hopes to hear from her on Friday, Oct 17th. O...K... I'm patiently waiting over the weekend to hear from ANYONE from Nissan. I decide to call Samantha again Monday, Oct. 21st in the morning EST at about 9:00am. I leave her a desperate message to PLEASE call me even though I'm sure she's "busy", but that I NEED her HELP. 10am, 11,12,1:00pm... still nothing. I call AGAIN at about 2:00pm EST and this time I'm NOT a happy customer. I ONCE AGAIN, leave a message telling her to call me TODAY because I NEED HER HELP.

4:20ish comes around and STILL NO CALL. I call back, but this time I don't call Samantha's direct line. I call Consumer Affairs and ask to speak to a supervisor. A very nice CSR by the name of John tells me that he will be more than happy to help me, but that I WOULD NOT be able to speak to a manager at that time and that he would relay the message and have a manager call me within 3-8 hours of the business day. Mind you they are in central time and they close at 5:00pm so that means the following day I should hear from a manager, right?! Today is WEDNESDAY, OCT. 22nd and I STILL haven't heard from Samantha in Consumer Affairs at **. I've had my sales rep. that sold me the car call me yesterday to tell me that they are doing everything possible to plead my case, but they are ALSO coming up EMPTY HANDED.

I have NEVER been so upset in my entire life with a car company. I've owned just about every car make out there and I've NEVER been treated like this. I feel that I'm justified in asking for a replacement vehicle while my case is being looked over. It's not like I'm having an issue with a broken radio....IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE! Someone could get hurt or DIE if that happens on a major highway or at an intersection where the car is in need of responding and DOESN'T. We were LUCKY that nothing happened. I'm holding NISSAN CORP RESPONSIBLE for a FAULTY PATHFINDER and unfortunately POUGHKEESPIE NISSAN for passing the buck in helping me with a loaner vehicle. I will NEVER own OR lease a Nissan vehicle EVER AGAIN. For the record...I have emptied out all of my personal belongings, handed over the keys and left the 2014 Nissan Pathfinder at Poughkeepsie Nissan in NY. I REFUSE to drive that SUV!

Nissan decided to extend the warranty on the radiator to 80,000 miles which is no help at all. That does nothing since the defect took place from 2005-2009. A lot of customers are over 80,000. Right now I'm at 75,300 and I have another vehicle I drive. The customers that only own one vehicle will have way over 80,000 miles. After 80,000 Nissan will cover roughly half of the cost around $2,500 until you have 90,000 then $3,000. Once 100,000 and many owners are past 100,000 and will just be screwed. Nissan should just replace the radiators of the part numbers that are defective (21460 EA215).

This is my second Nissan purchase and will probably be the last if I don't get a new radiator paid for by Nissan or get reimbursed for one I may buy in the next few weeks. Calsonic made the radiators; why are they not standing behind their products? Nissan put the Calsonic radiators in the vehicles; why are they not taking responsibility either? Extending the warranty is a joke as I stated earlier. By extending the warranty Nissan knows almost all owners will be over the mileage to be fully covered for replacement. Nissan is making out like a bandit by selling the updated radiator due to their lack of concern and appreciation of their customers.

My truck's days are numbered unless I pay a mechanic $850 to install a new radiator. Why should I (we customers) pay for Nissan and Calsonic's mistake? This is nonsense. I hear of Toyota standing behind their products from friends.

I bought my 2006 Nissan pathfinder in 2009 with 30,000 miles on it. At around 65,000 miles the transmission began acting up, slipping and acting weird. So I brought it in several times. I was advised to have the trani flushed, but that didn't help and it continued acting up. So I brought it into a different shop and they couldn't tell me why it was acting up but also flushed the trani. It continued to drive poorly and one day when checking the radiator fluid we found trani fluid in the radiator. So, I googled the issue and found out about the class action suit. I was so upset because my Nissan was at 80,300 miles. Just 300 miles over the covered limit, and I had been trying to figure the issue out since 65,000 miles.

Why wasn't I ever informed of this issue? I would have had it fixed. I am still making payments on my Nissan as it sits in the driveway and I can't afford to fix it! What am I supposed to do? Nissan should be ashamed of themselves for disrespecting their customers like this! I have owned several Nissans in my life, but I will never buy another if they don't do something about this situation! I will tell EVERYONE about this and to never buy a Nissan!

At first it was mild and as the days goes on the jerking and shaking becomes more noticeable. It feels like there is a mild earthquake going on.

I call nissan and was told that they would fix it for $9000.00. That was outrageous! Nissan never mentioned that there was a problem about the transmission and radiator, and that there were also numerous complaints about these problem I am experiencing. I spend a big amount of money to have it fixed. Nissan should do something about this because it is mechanical problem by nissan and not wear and tear of the vehicle. Went directly to the agency to inquire Nissan these letters and informed it was only in the event that our van had already been a failure. Earlier this year we received a "claim form" from the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. We ignore this "claim form", since we had no problems with our van.

Last month, the truck began to fail, we took the mechanic and transmission failure present. The mechanic told us that truck still had factory warranty as it has neither the 100, 000 miles and is 2005-2010 year manufacturing defects of these vans. Nissan called the agency and they would not help, they said that there was no guarantee and that it was the responsibility of the Nissan, we again emphasize, were of resolvernos and never solved anything. It had been almost a month and decided to fix the van to the mechanic and pay for our own.

I will fill it up and the gauge is accurate until it hits halfway empty, then it goes straight down to empty and won't read anything. Then, the "check engine" light comes on until a few starts when it reads that I do have gas in the car. I saw online there was a recall for this specific problem so I contacted Nissan, and was told my VIN doesn't meet the criteria required for the recall and I am not eligible. I then called the dealer to see what it would cost to fix this common problem and they obviously deal with it a lot b/c they knew off the top of their head, about $450 to fix it.

Are you kidding me? This is a known problem and I am not eligible? Why not??? I guess I'll just have to leave it as is. At least the car is running okay. I see many other people on here that have the same problem. So disappointing. Also 2 years ago my heat stopped working. I took the car in to find out it was my radiator and I needed a new one at $800. I got it fixed, paid for it, and found out there was a class action suit for this exact thing. After a TON of paperwork, at least 20 calls to Nissan and 16 months later... I was finally reimbursed. For a family with 3 kids and two working parents who live paycheck to paycheck, $800 is a huge amount. Nissan can do way better than this.

I was lucky enough to just get out of its way by coasting through two lanes and into the breakdown lane. My wife hasn’t slept in three days – she keeps recalling the truck coming down behind us and how close we were to being killed.

The person that stopped to help us informed us that his brother had this same issue with his pathfinder and that there was a recall. Well – we never received a recall notice – the truck now has 135K miles and is not covered under their class action settlement.

Called a local Nissan dealer and was told by the mechanic that our issue has nothing to do with the recall and they have no responsibility. There is an open investigation by the NHTSA regarding this issue. The Nissan service person said that the recall and the transmission failure were not related!!! Everything being reported by consumers and private mechanics demonstrates otherwise. He said our mechanic didn’t know what he was talking about. Our mechanic found that the radiator leaked transmission fluid into the transmission and destroyed it.

(Note: we have been going there over 3 years, when the car was under 80k miles!) The week before we got a service, there were no transmission issues. Then the mechanic calls and says we need a $4,400k new transmission. I googled online and found out about the class action lawsuit. An 8 year old car stops working in the middle of the freeway! What a disappointment. I am so angry. I serviced this for over 3 years at Nissan and they never alerted me to this fact and the other day I asked the mechanic if he gets this issue and he says yes all the time!!! So why didn't they tell us 3 years ago when we could have done something about it, when it was under warranty?

Now it is 111k and sitting there and we don't have a car. I am pregnant and we have $5k left, which $2k is for the birth of the baby and $3k for baby expenses and a rainy day. Now all of my money will be going into fixing Nissan's problem. I wrote a complaint to Nissan.com and will be displaying my disappointment tomorrow via phone. I also tweeted to everyone with #nissan hashtag alerting people to this. If someone had told me this before I forked out $12k on this car, I would have bought a Ford or some other reliable car. My previous car was a 1989 Nissan Pulsar and this was more reliable and never stopped dead in the streets. I was approached by a sales agent, when dropping off my broken Nissan, to buy a Nissan Altima, which leads me to believe they really like gaining from your loss.

The mechanics clearly knew and they have the duty as a good person to give customers a heads up about future problems with customer's vehicles. I will be contacting local news station and telling anybody and everybody I know that Nissan is not #innovationthatexcites, it is a waste of money! I hope to hear back from Nissan.com, but if they don't, I will tell the local news station and tweeting everyone! I will not buy another Nissan ever again. I will probably sell it with the broken transmission for $4k less and put my money into a Ford or something else. This is truly a case of they don't build things like they used to. In 2011 I also had the transmission/radiator issue but luckily that was covered under the extended warranty because it was over 8 grand in repairs. In 2013 my fuel pump went which cost around $900.00 to fix. Right after that in March 2013, I took it to Nissan for a whining buzzing noise in the engine... I had it serviced and they said it was caused by an aftermarket oil filter and a belt tension issue. That was $367.

Last week I heard the same exact noise. I decided I needed to get it serviced. The car just hit 101000. My car had been serviced at the same place I bought it for years; however, that dealer just sold it. When I called them to get the car in there for service, they said they no longer had my records. I decided to take to a dealer that was closer and a recommendation of a friend. I took it in and they said they would call me after they got a chance to look at it. They contacted me telling me that my timing chain jumped and they were unsure if it did any damage to the valves, pistons or engine. They quoted $1600 for a new timing chain. They said they had to take it apart and put it back together before they could determine if it did any valve damage.

Of course to my dismay it has been determined I need a new engine. The total for the repairs right now is $6800. I just about had a coronary. Nissan HQ that they would offer a buyer incentive on a vehicle of our choice if you can believe. I have been torn on what to do. The car has a brand new transmission, radiator fuel pump... It is meticulous inside and out because of the time and care I put into it. It would kill me to give it to this dealership as a trade so they can fix it up and sell if for 12 grand to someone. I don't know if I am making the right decision but giving it to this dealer to sell is not an option. I will not buy another Nissan again. I am disappointed in NISSAN. In several occasions back in 2012, our 2007 Nissan Pathfinder transmission would not respond (skip) while on freeway driving at over 65 mph. In several occasions we had to pull over until full power on tranny was recovered... We also noticed some weird noise but we thought it was associated with our tires and road. Our SUV had below 80,000 when those symptoms were noticed... We ignored it thinking it was something minor since our SUV was only 6 yrs old with less than 80K miles. In mid-2013, our SUV lost complete power as my wife was pulling out of the freeway with two of my kids.....

I'm glad it happened on the way off the freeway. This was the end of the tranny... SUV will not start... towed it in to a local shop where it was diagnosed to have a tranny problem. I called Nissan of Clovis in California where I purchased this vehicle brand new in 2007. I asked them if my SUV had any warranty on transmission or if there had been any recalls. They said, "Bring it in and we'll inspect it". Fixing the SUV to start again was determined by them to have no relation to tranny/radiator issues which I disagreed. They diagnosed the tranny problem to have been caused by radiator cross contamination into transmission. They said I had an extended warranty on tranny but I was still responsible for $2500 copay.

I began an online search for recalls and similar complaints/issues and at that point I found out there had been a class suit settlement in 2012 for these same issues. Contacted dealer and argued that I had not been notified about these defective radiators nor had Nissan ordered RECALLS on these models. I argued that if they had notified us accordingly, it could have saved us thousands of dollars and I had no way to absorb such an expensive repair.... Wife was pregnant and unemployed. We almost lost our home like many Americans have and had no way to cover this expensive repair. I made several attempts to get the $2500 copay waived since our SUV only had 83000+ miles, just over 3000 miles the threshold requiring this copay...

Both Dealership (Nissan of Clovis, in California) and Nissan corporate denied our request. I paid about $1300 of the $3200+ repair charges and left an unpaid balance of $1900+. Nissan of Clovis is getting their attorney involved in trying to collect this unpaid balance. In my opinion, the court system and law firm involved in the class lawsuit in 2012 did not fairly represent Consumers... Settlement resulted in a Worthless (expensive) Extended Warranty on related issues... Consumers are facing the consequences of negligence and lack of accountability from Nissan. Our losses are Nissan's Profits = bad business practices... poor engineering/design of their products and they should be accountable for their mistakes, negligence and bad business practices.

I'll be filing suit at the Small Claims court in Fresno County in response to their continuous harassment in collecting this $1900+ unpaid balance. I'll be filing two claims, one against the dealer = Nissan of Clovis in California (Fresno County) and one against Nissan Corporate (Manufacturer) for the above issues, safety, waste of time, harassment (threats) and loss on investment... I sold my SUV for less than the fair market value after replacing the tranny... I just could not rely on this vehicle anymore. Dealer gave me around 12,000 mile warranty or 1yr on the new tranny. We consumers deserve better service levels, better warranty/protection on high dollar vehicle investments... Nissan should be forced to downgrade their products and sell them $5000 to $7500 less than current prices.

A couple of weeks ago, I brought the truck back in because my transmission did not feel right. While my mechanic was checking that out and also giving me an oil change he discovered where my antifreeze was going and said that I may have a bigger problem on my hands.

So, we brought the truck to a transmission dealer and he said that my transmission will need to be replaced (still unaware of the Nissan existing issue) now going to cost me close to $4,000 for a transmission, radiator and new thermostat as well as the fluids. So, for the moment I went with the radiator and thermostat and fluids at a cost of about $900.00 - He said that my transmission is on its way out so get ready. The very next day my transmission died and I had to be towed to the Nissan dealer. On the way home, my husband recalled a notice that we received from some attorneys regarding a class action suit. He proceeded to put out the paperwork which told about the transmission - at the time we received this we did not have any bills for such problems. We never in a million years thought our not having heat in the car was even related to this.

At that point, the legal paperwork was filed away. It was not until the mechanic told us what our problem was that we realized it may be related only to find out that we would have had to submit the bills by June 2013. Why didn't Nissan send us a notice about this issue? When I questioned them, they said it must have been sent to the previous owners. Now I just paid almost $1,000 for a new radiator and thermostat and Nissan want $3.000 as a co-pay for a new transmission. I told them I could get a transmission for the same price elsewhere - so how could they call this a co-pay - I was told that a $1,000 of that was for a new radiator - I told them that I had just paid for one the day before so why would I pay you for another one. Then I was told to call the main Nissan consumer affairs. The deal has had my car for 5 days now and nothing is getting done.

I just got off the phone with the Nissan Regional Consumer Affair representative and she basically told me "too bad" I will have to pay the $3,000. Not to mention that I am paying for a rental car for at least this week. Do not know what I will do now - I do not have the $3,000 and it infuriates me that they will not honor their bad parts. How disgusting!!!!

In 2005, I purchased a fully equipped Nissan Pathfinder LE from Victory Nissan. I returned there in 2006 and purchased a 350Z Touring Convertible. The combined total for both vehicles was well over $120,000. Both vehicles were excellently maintained. I purchased the platinum warranty on both vehicle. In November of 2013, I began to experience problems with shifting in the Pathfinder. I took the vehicle to Pence Nissan to have the problem diagnosed. I was told by Katy **, the service manager that the coolant and the transmission fluid was mixing and that my transmission needed to be replaced. The total cost of the repair was $7,867.00. I was also told that my timing chain required replacement and the cost of that repair was included in the above total.

While the vehicle was being diagnosed, I subsequently learned that there was a class action suit against Nissan for the same problem I was experiencing with my Pathfinder. However, Nissan never issued a recall of vehicles that were made with this particular design flaw. In previous models, there were separate cooling systems for the transmission and radiator. In the 2005 model, Nissan decided to combine the cooling systems for the transmission and radiator into one system. Combining the cooling systems has created a significant design flaw in the vehicle that contributed to the transmission problem I experienced with my vehicle.

When I presented the information I had found regarding the design flaw and class action suit to Katey ** at Pence Nissan, I was told that because my vehicle had over 100,000 miles on it, it did not qualify for any type of consideration because the vehicle was no longer under warranty. I requested that the dealership provide me with some type of consideration since I had purchased two vehicles from Nissan dealerships and had been a faithful customer for many years. This experience has soured me on purchasing Nissan products in the future. I expected that the dealership would extend the warranty for the repair since the problem was a design flaw and not due to my abuse of the vehicle.

Apparently, that was not the case. Pence Nissan refused to provide me with any consideration despite my being a victim of the manufacturer's design flaw in my vehicle. Any assistance that you can provide in resolving this matter will be greatly appreciated. I am requesting that my vehicle be repaired at no cost to me since the problem with the vehicle is a design flaw and not to wear and tear or my negligence.

We have bought a lot of Nissan. They called us the Nissan family. Now, with the two 2006 Nissan, we have all kinds of problems. My sister-in-law transmission gone, the fuel gauge of my wife Nissan did not work plus other little problems.

I own now a 2002 Frontier I bought in 2002, thanks God I got no problem. But my brother and my friend who own both 2006 Frontier had catalytic converter problems. The big concern, Nissan didn't stand behind his product and refuses to fix the customers problems. For this reason, I will tell my friends and families to stay away from Nissan. I am looking for a new car, it will not be a Nissan. Now Nissan is junk and customers no service.

I have had pieces falling off my car - its a cheap car with an expensive price tag!!! Trust me I wish I could trade it in but the value is crap!!! Basically they tell me they have to reproduce the issue or they cannot fix it.. This issue does not occur all the time... its random!!

I advised them to put a darn computer on and I will drive it - after a few days or a week it will occur- I told Nissan you cannot tell me all these people complaining about the same thing and its not an issue!?!?!?! I am so disappointed and the lady I spoke to was very disgruntle - I am sure she hears a lot of complaints but that is the line of work she has chosen. Customers do not like to pay for a new vehicle - have issues with a vehicle that the company refuses to identify as an issue or fix the problem. I would not be so upset if Nissan would just address the issue and recall the vehicles until they can isolate the issue!!! Feeling defeated...

It cost out of pocket $6000+ to repair, including a rental car for over a month. The mechanic told me to save all receipts, that there will be a recall for this!!! I did save and filled out the paperwork when it came out. This was February of 2013. In November of 2013, just before Thanksgiving, I received a letter from Nissan telling me my request for refund was denied due to I had 130,000 miles on the vehicle. I was upset!!! I started calling Nissan just 3 days after I read the letter, explaining my story to who ever would listen.

Finally received a call back on January 6th after leaving numerous messages. The person said they've further reviewed my case and told me to (in no certain terms) GO AWAY!!!!! This is horrible customer service!! ME, shopping the market for a new vehicle, now that I have a new driver in the family. The original reason for purchasing a Nissan was for the high rating in customer service and the quality of the merchandise!!! I'M VERY UPSET AND DISSATISFIED!!! I purchased my 07 Pathfinder new. Right away I noticed a slight clunk sound when I would shift into reverse when parked in driveway. I reported this but was told nothing wrong. I don't know if this had anything to do with the SERIOUS PROBLEMS I had later but I should have gotten rid of this car way sooner. I do a lot of driving so my miles added up quickly. In Feb 2011 at approx 90000, I took to my mechanic (since it was well past the warranty). I can't recall what prompted me to take in but found By my mechanic that TRANSMISSION FLUID HAD LEAKED INTO RADIATOR!!!! I replaced my radiator and transmission fluid was drained at a cost of $489.

I thought the problem was taken care of. Little did I know this is where the problems started. I soon started hearing a loud clunk noise occasionally when I reached a certain speed (50 mph or so). It didn't happen all the time so my mechanic couldn't pinpoint it. Then it started happening A LOT! And then all of sudden in June 2011 my car just didn't start one day. I was at about 103,00 miles. I had it towed to only shop open. Next day I got news transmission needed to be replaced. He estimated repairs to be about $4800. I declined and honestly didn't believe him because I didn't know him and thought he was trying to rip me off.

I had car towed to Nissan. Imagine my shock when they confirmed what other guy previously told me and said my repairs would cost $6613.06!!!!! WHAT????? I was still paying a hefty monthly payment of $550 so this was just outrageous to me!! After calming down and declining repairs, I had car towed home to do I hadn't clue with it. Nissan also informed that there is a warranty recall on the radiator issue but since mine happened at 90000 miles I did not qualify since it only covered up to around 80000 miles. How very convenient for Nissan!

I lived near the Mexico border. My brother found a reputable transmission shop and he gave me an estimate of $2667 to rebuild my transmission. So 5 months after car died, I towed it the 30 miles into Mexico and 3 days later I got my car back. The mechanic told me he had already repaired 6 that yr with same issue. My sister had a Pathfinder and I found out she had same issues as well. It was awful to pay my mo payment for 5 months on a car that didn't run. I didn't have an extra car and was at mercy of everyone! I even considered letting them come get it but I would be the one to suffer owing it anyways.

Around beginning of Jan 2012, I received a letter informing me of class action lawsuit in regards to certain Nissan models having transmission failure due to cross contamination of radiator fluid leaking into transmission fluid. I submitted my claim. I recently received my DENIAL letter! I was so mad. I have come to expect NOTHING from Nissan. If they would have even awarded me some kind of small settlement, I would have been a tiny bit satisfied but instead all they have left me is with a crappy car and a bitter attitude toward Nissan. I had a 2000 Altima before this and loved it. But now, I WILL NEVER BUY A NISSAN AGAIN AND WILL WARN EVERYONE I GET A CHANCE HOW NISSAN TREATS THEIR CUSTOMERS. BEWARE IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING THIS CAR. You may be one of the unfortunate ones like me to get such a piece of junk.

I got a new car today and traded that piece of junk in. At one of the dealerships I went to even the salesperson had one and knew all about the problems Pathfinders had. I ended up getting a 2013 Hyundai Accent and pray this car is good to me. I also pray for whoever ends up with my ex piece of junk and anyone else unfortunate enough to get one of these.

Same story as everyone except I think I got more mileage out of my 2005 Pathfinder. The transmission didn't fail until almost 160,000 miles. Tranny started acting up with sudden hard shifts between gears last year. I had transmission serviced (drained, cleaned, refilled) in March and it went out three weeks ago. While driving with most of my family (5 kids another adult), it started slipping and motor revving high during the slip. Then it would shift back into gear until we came to another hill (we live in the mountains) then it would slip again, rev really high and lose momentum.

Thankfully, we made it home but haven't driven it since. My husband looked at the tranny fluid and radiator coolant after I researched this online and found the mixture in both places. It is too late to join the lawsuit but I did alert NHTSB just so they would know it bit one more Nissan owner and I also contacted Nissan USA. Got a generic reply email that stated, "It is too late to file a claim. For more information, you can visit the website: www.NissanATOilCoolerSettlement.com." Well, gee, thanks, Nissan. Even though the monthly payment was quite high we figured it was worth it for the kids. Recently the Pathfinder started to shudder at or around 40 mph. So I took the Pathfinder to Aamco to check the transmission which ended up costing $250.00. Their diagnosis was that the transmission needed to be rebuilt and possible repaired torque converter and possible radiator replacement. The estimate was $2700.00 just to pull out the transmission and repair hard parts with the torque converter and radiator replacement would be additional cost. My wife and kids are now stuck without transportation. The truck is currently in the driveway as we continue to make monthly payments for the vehicle. As we cannot afford to repair it.

My 2005 Nissan Pathfinder which I bought new in 2005 started to have slight slippage problems when I was backing up and changing gears in park about 5 months ago. I then thought it was fuel injection, and/or something else. I had the transmission and radiator serviced. The problem got worse. Two months later, it's now having acceleration issues (feels revvy and gear shift into second is junky) problems and I heard a pop yesterday in the transmission. It now has 85,600 miles. I started to do research and found all this info on radiator/transmission contamination problems on this.

Called Nissan today 11/6/13. Pressed them. Not only have they now extended the warranty to 100,000 miles/10 years on the radiator, but they are also reluctantly admitting that there is a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT out of NY STATE for this problem. I filed a claim and am taking the car into a NISSAN DEALER tomorrow to have it repaired for A $2500 COPAY!!!! This is obviously not a copay problem, it is a manufacturing problem. I am hopeful that when this is resolved, I will be reimbursed by Nissan for the $2500 due to their clear MANUFACTURING DEFECT.

This is my third Nissan, I worked for the ad agency for 10 years for Nissan. If they don't make right on this, I'm making calls and taking names. Angry that I had to do SO MUCH OF MY OWN research to find this out. Not sure when they extended to 100k but If you own a 2005-2010 PATHFINDER, I would suggest you drive it immediately to a Nissan Dealer and get this repair done before your Transmission seizes. This is a class action lawsuit. I will post again once I find out how to get into that and file my claim. File a claim with Nissan if you have had these problems. They will have to make right if they lose the lawsuit.

I have a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder with approximately 82,000 miles. As of two three months, the fuel gauge has not been marking the appropriate amount of gas. In actuality it shows full when the gas tank is filled but after 100 miles the needle drops to empty. My car stalled twice on the expressway and the entire car locked. It was very dangerous and I was able to maneuver the car to the curb. I took it to a family friend who indicated that the floating device was not working and suggested that I look up any recalls for this defect on the Nissan website.

I searched the Nissan website and found that there was indeed a recall for this type of issue for the Nissan Pathfinder. However, when I called in to Nissan, they asked me to provide them with the vehicle VIN number. The customer service rep indicated that my Pathfinder VIN number did not fall under the recall. I'm not sure as to why this car was not included when the recall description was the exact same issue my car was facing. They indicated that they were able to tell which cars had this issue based on the VIN number and factory they were produced in. They also indicated that they provided a warranty extension to all other Pathfinders and since my car was over the mileage, the warranty didn't cover it.

This I didn't understand at all because I never received any correspondence indicating that my car's warranty for THIS SPECIFIC DEFECT was extended. And furthermore, if they know which cars were only affected due its VIN number, why would they give a warranty extension to the other Pathfinders???? I looked on the site and found that various other people had the same issue that I was facing and that Nissan ignored it.

The Nissan rep told me to follow these steps:

    1. Open a case (which I did).
    2. Go to a dealer and get a diagnostic (I went to the dealer and they were going to charge me $150 to tell me what I already knew was wrong. I did not go through with it and found the entire thing fishy. I also felt that they were making me go through all of this in an effort that I would go away).
    3. They told me to get an estimate and submit so that they can evaluate (Why would I have to go through all this if they already know the cost and the problem).
    4. I am afraid to go through this entire step by step process and in the end be out $150 for a diagnostic + whatever it cost to fix, which everyone knows that dealerships overcharge their customers!!

    5. I don't understand why they can't provide me the customer a voucher to go in to a dealership, get the diagnostic and if indeed the gauge is not working, replace it.

Finally, I went through and the total cost of the repair was $450, which Nissan indicated it would not cover. What everyone should be warned of is that Nissan has found a loophole in getting out of paying for issues by extending the warranty, without notifying the owners, and hope that the issues occur after the warranty extension so that they are not liable. THIS NEEDS TO BE STOPPED!

I told them I was only over by about 300 miles but they refused to help. I continued to keep it up to date on its maintenance. Then I moved to Arizona temporarily and when my car was at 119,656 miles and it began to shut down on me in the middle of the road. Luckily, I was near an AutoZone and they helped me with a couple of things including a diagnostic check. They told me that the fuel level needed to be replaced and that was the only reading they were getting; everything else checked out fine.

I immediately drove to Nissan and explained the situation only to be told that they needed to do their own diagnostic which would cost me $115, and once they were able to diagnose the problem they could tell me what was going to be needed and how much it would cost. They gave me a quote based on AutoZone's diagnostic check and quoted me $800. (Then they said, "you may want to go somewhere else to get a quote... It may be cheaper to get it done somewhere else").

I now have a long list of items that my car is doing that it should not be doing. It's so frustrating. Oh and when I was at the dealership, one of the other workers heard me talking to the person helping me and said that it may be the ipmd and when I asked her about that she refused to tell me what it was but I persisted. So he went on to tell me that the transmission was cooled by the radiator by an ATF line which cracks and causes the coolant and transmission fluid to mix which cause both to fail and need replacement. He told me that there were a lot of complaints on the internet, to have my husband look it up when I got home. So I did. He read up on the many, many complaints filed all over the internet on different sites. Afterwards he went to check both fluids and of course our radiator was full of transmission fluid. So now we have to pay about $6,000 for repairs which is not too much under what we still owe. The dealership is well aware of the faulty part and the damage it causes and yet will not fix the problem. I can't believe companies that make so much money off of their customers can't do right by them and fix the problem.

My 2006 Nissan Pathfinder experienced sudden, catastrophic transmission failure. Complete loss of motive power and needed to be towed 75 miles for repairs. Mechanic diagnosed the problem as a failed transmission fluid cooler located in the radiator assembly that allowed coolant to mix with and contaminate the automatic transmission fluid, resulting in damaged internal transmission components and a damaged internal transmission computer. No warning signs leading up to or just prior to the failures. After numerous phone calls to various Nissan divisions, including the claims administrator, I was told by Nissan that they would not cover any repairs.

If I did not sign their offer to buy it back within the time limit, the offer would be off the table - take it or leave it offer. I had to sign that Nissan would not have any claims (known or unknown, past, present or future) on the car or campaign. There was supposed to be negotiating, but there was none. It was cut and dry. Either I take the offer in writing and mail it back within 5 days and/or the offer is off.

Everything was over the phone. I sent them a letter what I wanted. It was dismissed and not even considered or talked about. I never got a recall notice in the mail and this recall was supposed to be mailed out 2 years ago in 2011. Now I'm out a car with which was good, except for the big hole where it rusted out.

We wanted to take the vehicle to our own mechanic but were assured that the dealer had already had their own mechanics review and service the vehicle and no issues were found. Within 2 months of owning this vehicle, my husband noticed we had little heat and researched the issue online. He took our vehicle into our trusted mechanic and was told that we had the same design issue as TOO many others reported with the coolant leak into transmission. He repaired the leak flushed the transmission and recommended that we drive for a few days and bring back to re-flush which we did.

He said he was hopeful that we caught the issue on time before it did any damage to the transmission. My husband contacted our dealer who did not offer any assistance to our issue. He said if the transmission failed, he would re-look at it. Well 2 months later, it did fail and luckily, we were able to get home! We are currently getting the transmission and radiator repaired at a cost of $5,000. We will be contacting our dealer. In researching, we have found that the US has settled a class action suit on this issue and must register by June, but can't find any relief for Canadians. What is Nissan doing for Canadians?

When the "auto down or auto-up" is selected, the window would not work, intermittently. I took the vehicle to a dealership and explained the problem. I had to coordinate off time at work to get the vehicle in for service. I received a call that it needed a window motor, and it is covered by warranty. I approved the repair and some other repairs that were covered by warranty. When I picked up the vehicle, I signed for it and paid a deductible for which I was told is my requirement. A few days later, the same issue with the window occurred. I called and asked about it to the rep. I was told to bring the vehicle back in.

It was a few weeks before I could work a schedule change with my boss and when I came in, I decided to wait so I could make sure that there would not be any issues. I advised the problem to the same dealership and was told at that time the previous service was performed on the passenger window motor. I advised it was the driver side door window. I was told that the technician could not fix it because he could not make it fail. I ended up leaving and used a personal day to get nothing done. A few days later, the window started again with intermittent operation. I waited many days to make sure it would be a failed condition and they could fix it, but now I am not sure I want to take it back in because I have to coordinate with my boss on the time off. I am not sure I trust this dealership.

Does Nissan know how to repair their own vehicles? Is there a preferred dealership near north Houston that has a good repair record? Maybe I can go there? The dealership in question is Streater-Smith, 333 I-45 South, Conroe, Texas 77305.

We knew nothing of the problem and continued to drive with it lurching. Finally, we took it to our mechanic and he pulled transmission fluid and found the coolant. Of course, this was after the 80,000-mile warranty. So, we had it flushed and that helped (about $1,600 later). Now, the transmission is beginning to completely fail. We are going to trade it in and buy a Toyota as soon as possible. Too bad, we really like the vehicle and the towing capability. I just bought a new, over $40,000 cost, for a 2013 Pathfinder 4x4 three weeks ago. The problem I have is that it will not stay engaged in 4-wheel drive in the lock position. You can drive between 2 to 4 miles and it will revert back to auto. I have to come to a complete stop before it will lock back in the 4x4 position; then it will again revert back to auto as before. I am told this is a gas saving feature; no, this is a faulty sensor or something that is a safety hazard. You cannot safely stop on the interstate in traffic just because you have to put your vehicle in 4x4 because of sudden drifts of snow that have blown across the road.

I am tired of the excuses from Nissan and not standing behind your product. You are all over your customers before you make the sale, but once you make the sale, it is a “don't bother me” anymore. If I want to drive around all day in four wheel drive, I should be able to do so. Don't give me the lame story that the car detects when I need it or not. I have called Corporate, and I am told they don't handle that; I should call my dealer. I have called the Nissan Tech Center Testing, and I am told to call my dealer again. Does this indicate that Nissan does not stand behind their products? The consumer is left with buying the product and with the hope that they get a good vehicle with no issues. One valid complaint is enough; you don't need a thousand and forced to have recalls to have problems fixed.

Anderson Nissan told me they were waiting on Nissan to authorize repair; the claim went nowhere. The 3rd picture shows what will happen when the seam breaks completely; the wheel well smashes up into the steering column, and the master brake cylinder is causing the loss of steering and brakes.

Nissan Regional CS Manager told me that if Anderson Nissan says it’s safe to drive, or lets me take it home, then it is safe. Anderson says they don't know if it’s safe, only corporate can make that determination. Corporate Nissan says only the dealer can decide if it’s safe. What total run around. The dealer says they recall deals with rust only; since my SUV had very little rust, it's not a recall issue? Rust or not, the exact same danger is present in mine, and there is a repair available; but Nissan does nothing! A quick Google search (Nicco forums) will reveal pictures of other Pathfinders with broken/peeling welds in the unibody. We recently bought a 2007 Nissan Pathfinder with 115K miles. After driving it for a few weeks, we noticed the transmission would constantly downshift/upshift during city driving. Going on a short trip, the transmission failed, could not accelerate, and move forward or backward. We had the vehicle towed to a mechanic we trust. After looking at the Pathfinder, he determined the cause of the transmission failure was contaminated transmission fluid. The contamination was caused by faulty transmission cooler lines in the radiator that rupture and allow the coolant and transmission fluid to mix. The mechanic recommended I call Nissan, since the ruptured radiator coolant lines had been an issue for 2005-2010 Nissan SUVs (Pathfinder, Xterra, and Frontier).

The Nissan representative indicated that since the vehicle had over 100K miles, there was nothing they could do. The Nissan service department provided two estimates to fix the issue: to replace the transmission and radiator with Nissan parts at $9,600, or replace with an aftermarket radiator and a re-manufactured transmission at $7,000. Neither option included an engine coolant flush ($120), replacement of the overflow coolant tank ($100), and flushing out the transmission cooling lines ($100). Since the vehicle has over 100K miles, I guess we will have to pay for the repair and then hope Nissan does right by owners and issues a recall, so maybe owners can recover some of the money they spent on a known Nissan defect. I filed a complaint with the NHTSB; I will never buy a Nissan again.

If I accelerate slowly, it also makes a strong sound or "clank" at 15 to 20 mph. Pathfinder owners are not responsible for manufacturing flaws. Nissan HQ knows of the leakage of the coolant to the transmission. It is not an owner responsibility. That is why they issued an extended warranty to the radiator to 80,000 miles but not many owners ever received the letter. But there is no way for us to notice coolant entering the transmission. File a formal complaint to the National Highway Safety Administration and the BBB, send letter, e-mails, call your local Nissan Distributor and Nissan HQ. I never received a notice from Nissan regarding this recall, which Nissan states is an extended warranty. I noticed that there was a problem with the fuel gauge sometime ago. Three weeks ago, I was doing research online to try and find a solution to the problem. That was when I discovered the recall. I immediately contacted Orr Nissan in Bossier City, Louisiana at 318-752-3000, since that is the dealer where I purchased the Pathfinder from.

I spoke to Mike in the service department who told me that I would have to pay to have the problem fixed because the mileage was over 72,000 miles and that it would cost me around $600.00. Had I known about the recall, it would have been within the mileage specified when I contacted them. I took the next step and called Nissan USA at 1-800-647-7261 and spoke to Rita at ext #**. Rita told me that the reason I was never notified was due to an error on Nissan's part, since they never entered my information into their computer system designating me as the new owner of the vehicle. So the notice was sent out to the prior owners who live in another state. At that point, she opened a case for me with the case #**.

I was contacted by Tim from 1-800-343-6913 ext #**, who told me that they were not going to honor the recall and make the repair because I did not have my Pathfinder serviced at Nissan. He then went on to say that if I had brought it into them to perform regular maintenance on it, that they would have found the problem and corrected it. He then said that I would have to pay for it myself. Well, I have taken it in on numerous occasions for an oil change and regular maintenance, they did not spot it on either occasion. My husband now handles the regular maintenance on my Pathfinder and our other Nissans because we cannot always afford to have a dealer perform the maintenance. But even if I had never taken it to them for maintenance, I should not be punished for servicing my own vehicle. That is unconstitutional nor should I have to pay for something that was recalled in the first place, especially since Nissan failed to notify me of that recall.

I think that Nissan should fix this problem, especially when you take into account all of the errors they have made concerning this circumstance. Clearly, nothing here can be found to be my fault! I am hoping that this email will do some good, however if not so, my attorney will be contacting Nissan USA. I have also contacted the NHTSA, as well as Nissan Global. This is really sad because all of the vehicles that my family and I buy and own are Nissans. However, after seeing how Nissan treats their loyal customers, I nor my family will ever buy another one. I just want to ask, is this how Nissan treats all of their customers?
