We purchased a brand new 2022 Nissan Pathfinder in Aug. 2022 for about 52k. After a year of driving it, we found that we needed all new tires. That cost about 1k. After 16 months of driving it, we found out we need all new REAR BRAKES. Yes, you read that correctly - all new REAR brakes. That's unheard of, right? So, we brought the car in and got new rear brakes. (Note: After they replaced our brakes they told us that they are warrantied for 36k miles. BUT - they are NOT under any warranty when it's a brand new car and only has 22K miles - does that make sense???)
ONE MONTH LATER, the rear brakes were making a loud screeching noise again. We brought it in. We were told that "sometimes when it gets cold your brakes will do that". Well, we keep this car in the garage, and the screeching is REALLY loud, so I don't think that's it. Then, they told us to turn our Auto Hold feature off since that was probably causing the early wear/tear on the brakes. (Auto Hold is a feature that, when turned on, it keeps the brake held down automatically when you're stopped). Keep in mind, that we loved that feature about our new car and was one of the reasons we purchased it.
Then, I put in a claim with Nissan Corporate. I was told that because the car was "functioning normally", there was nothing they could do. Well, I think they should 1.) Reimburse me for the rear brakes that we had to get with 22k miles on our car and 2.) Reimburse me for the Auto Hold feature since I can no longer use it. The woman just kept repeating "The car is functioning properly". No, it's not. There's an auto hold feature that we are now advised not to use. Guys - we have had the WORST luck with this vehicle. Just don't do it. I can't believe that I've put 2k into a brand new car that's under warranty and is a year old.

My back brakes had to be replaced at 15,000 miles! Is this normal for a 2022 Pathfinder? The dealer says it is! If I knew that, maybe I would have bought a different car! And they’re not covered by my extended warranty!

I have contacted a consumer affairs representative many times throughout the day leaving voicemails and emails. What’s worse is that I have to explain each email and voicemail that I’m in pacific time and their company is on Eastern time. Absolutely no responses, I’m never buying any Nissan products. I’m paying for a SUV that is unsafe and Nissan isn’t doing a thing about it.

I bought my first new car. A 2023 Pathfinder and I’m so disappointed. I had issues almost immediately. Car would put itself into neutral at stop lights periodically. I would not realize it and go to take off when the light turned green and be stuck there until I shifted. It would also put itself into manual 1st gear while I was in Auto Drive and I would have to shift quickly back to drive. I took it to the dealership and they sent me away after saying the issue wasn’t duplicated while with them.
On the way home the Car lost power while out shopping and had a code on the dashboard to check owner's manual. I could push the gas all the way down and the car would barely drive. I was able to limp back to the dealership and they replaced the fuel pump. My dome lights do not always come on when I open the car door but they cannot fix it. My car just recently lost power in my driveway again and said malfunction. I started it again in the morning and it was driving normal so I’m on my way back to the dealership. I will never buy a Nissan again.

I purchased a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder SL in 2014. Since the car was initially purchased it has been in and out of the shop for transmission issues. Yet again, the transmission is failing this time due to the mileage (117K) they are refusing to replace what is needed. I would understand if it was something that was new to break...this is 4 times. I went to my local dealer who said they could do nothing. I next figured I'd try calling Nissan Consumer Affairs for help and they also turned me again. So now I've turned to Consumer Affairs and will also contact my local BBB. I have a 15 page vehicle history report that shows how many times this truck was in and out of the dealer. including around a dozen recalls which 2 are still outstanding. On Friday, August 11th, I received a call from a woman named Bernice from Nissan Corporate. Immediately upon answering the phone, Bernice appeared hostile. I asked if I could conference my husband in, as he has been the one communicating with Nissan throughout this process. Bernice told me no, that she could not permit that. I was not given a reason why. Unfortunately, I experienced head trauma as a result of the accident, therefore I would have preferred for my husband to recount some of the details. Much of the information that Bernice had was incorrect (i.e., location of the accident, mileage of my car).
Throughout our call, Bernice continued to be condescending and appeared quite impatient with me. She then informed me, that since I already got the car fixed (as Nissan told us to), that I had no case and that Nissan would not be liable for any damages I had incurred. I am unclear what the purpose of her call or so-called "investigation" was at this point. She demanded to know why I had the car fixed, and I asked what other option a person would have if they needed to work. As a result of this faulty fuel pump, that we now know is a known issue on my car, I experienced this ridiculous and unnecessary accident. Consequently, I now suffer with memory recall, as well as driving anxiety. I no longer want to drive this car around, as I feel incredibly unsafe with myself and my children in it.
This process has been a nightmare, through and through. The level of unprofessionalism from Bernice was astounding. In addition, YOUR dealership, knowingly let me drive off the lot with a faulty fuel pump. I stalled in the middle of a 4 lane road within minutes after. New Nissan Pathfinder has serious issues that can get you seriously hurt. They are coming with a bad fuel pump that will have your car switch gears on its own. N to D from N to 1st. It will stall in the middle of the road with your family in the car. My wife was in an accident because of it.
Nissan does not want to do anything about it because the Nissan dealership fixed it like we were told to do. With no option of another car and it being unsafe to drive we had to get it fixed. We were told to take it to the dealership and in doing so now they say there is nothing to investigate. One of the dealers said this has been an ongoing issue. That they have been replacing fuel pumps in the Pathfinders.

I used to be a Nissan Pathfinder lover. I used to have a 1985 and 1998 model of the Pathfinder. The 1985 one ran 350,000 miles, and the 1998 one ran 250,000 miles. Now, I have a 2013 pathfinder. I had a transmission problem and I repaired it at an auto service center, called Z-Atlanta, who bought a new transmission and replaced it in June 2021, and I picked up the car on June 4th. Unfortunately, the new transmission had the same problem in November 2021. Z-Atlanta and the Nissan dealer at the Gwinnett Place mall gladly repaired it again with warranty. I paid for a general service and towing fee and pick it up January 13, 2022, after Z-Atlanta picked the car up from the Nissan Dealer on January 10, 2022 and finalized.
Last November, the transmission of the car had the same problem. I brought the car to Z-Atlanta and they reported it to the Nissan Dealer on December 20, 2021. But the dealer said it is out of warranty, which was calculated from the first repair date, June 04, 2021, instead of the second repair date of January 10, 2022. If the warranty is calculated from second repair, the transmission should have still been in warranty. As a result, we were unable to repair the car due to the hefty fees, so we ended up throwing away the car altogether. It was a complete waste of money, and I am extremely frustrated with the lack of service. Do not buy Nissan.

I bought a 2022 Pathfinder in June 2022 with 4 miles. At about 30 miles the collision light would come on when I hit a bump in the road. I took the car in to be serviced after having my car for 2 weeks. The Nissan dealership had my car 7 weeks. During this time, a nissan engineer worked with the dealership to get the problem corrected. Once my car was returned to me me, the collision malfunction light would randomly come on. The car was taken back to the dealership and kept for 3 weeks. My car was deemed a "lemon" and has been bought back by nissan.

I purchased a new 2022 Pathfinder on 9/14/22. On 9/27/22 the vehicle had a substantial roof leak. Leak damaged entire headliner, visor, all dome and visor lights were dripping water, driver's side seat was soaked as were all driver's side door electronics and carpeting. Submitted Claim on 9/27 and Nissan Consumer Affairs was not helpful at all. They would not respond unless I called the dealer where car was purchased from and complained. They would then have to call a local rep, who would then have to call Consumer Affairs and inform them that they needed to respond to me. Long story short new car with under 1,000 miles on it needs to have much of the interior replaced and upon my request to have it swapped for a different vehicle Nissan has denied my request.
I also requested a trade "incentive" to get into a different vehicle which Consumer Affairs agent agreed to and then 1 week later after I heard nothing back from them on "incentive" amount, I was forced to reach out to dealer again who had Consumer Affairs call me and that is when they informed me they misspoke and could do nothing for me. They would replace headliner and visor but not seat or electronic door components that were wet. If I wanted those replaced I would have to pay for them. And that I needed to send them a copy of my registration to prove that I owned the vehicle that they were authorizing these minimal repairs on. It has been 3+weeks without this new vehicle being properly dried out so I can only imagine the mold growth that could be within the areas that were wet (and I am to trust a service technician to remediate any mold or mildew when repairs are completed).
The dealer this vehicle was purchased from informed me that if they were to work a trade with me for another vehicle that they could not and would not sell my car on the lot and would send it to auction due to the amount of water damage. Consumer Affairs and Nissan were terrible and never again will any of my family or friends be purchasing another Nissan product of any kind.

Nissan is very much aware of the defective transmission in their cars and they uses the dealers to assist them in not taking care of the problems. The dealers reports that if you choose to have car service by someone else and not Nissan they will refuse to fix the problem with your car. I just experienced it with my local dealer not trying to help consumers but assist Corporate Nissan to not assist customers whom had oil changes at other shops instead of their dealership.

It's under the 3 years, but over on the mileage. They are not good quality. I called Nissan because dealership could not do anything, and Nissan will not do anything to help with this repair. In 2018 purchased a Nissan Pathfinder because it had 4x4 and we needed it for our climate as we live in a very snowy area that gets 20+ feet of snow a year. The first storm we had the 4x4 did not stay engaged. Took it to the dealership. Was not only told something was not wrong, I was sexually harassed. Filed a complaint with Nissan. They did nothing but recommend a different dealership 125 miles away. Found out the dealership by our house sold us a brand new vehicle with a broken coupler. Fixed it. 4x4 still didn't stay engaged.
Over the next 4 years took the vehicle in at least 3 times a year for the same issue. Nothing. Finally Jan. 28, 2022 (almost 4 years of ownership) a Nissan Corporate mechanic told me that the vehicle is "not a true 4x4 and the 4x4 is to only be used to get out of jams." When asked why they sold these vehicles as great for snow and off roading he told me they don't advertise that anymore. He said "the drivetrain protects itself and will not ever stay engaged in 4x4. The only potential true 4x4 Nissan sells is the Armada. Everything else is not a true 4x4". Nissan is putting everyone on the roads (and off) in danger by allowing these vehicles to be sold and driven in chain control and dangerous conditions. DO NOT BUY A NISSAN thinking it is 4x4!

I’ve had many Nissan products with mostly positive experiences. At the end of April, I purchased a new '22 Pathfinder. The sales experience was terrible, from the salesman gloating about my trade right in front of me to the finance manager stating “why would you trade to save only $100 a month?” then the sales manager telling me that I’m only complaining because I want free stuff! Things don’t end there, the car needed new wiper blades at 200 miles (which should be covered under warranty), dealership said that it was a special order part and would get in later that week. (It’s been two months… I had to buy my own wiper blades) Then the tires were so over inflated they popped causing me to have to replace them. (Dealership did not accept liability for not doing proper PDI so that was money out of pocket) Then at 5 weeks old, it stopped recognizing its own key.
The key could be in the cup holder right next to the push button (no other key on the key change) and still the car is saying “no key”. Two dealerships blamed me for the key not working, replaced the battery, and sent me on my way. At 6 weeks old, the car stopped filling up. No matter what I tried, it would stop at 5 gallons. Brought it back to two different dealerships. One says that the fueling system needs replacing (parts were never ordered), the other says it’s my fault for pumping gas wrong. I called Consumer Affairs with all my evidence and proof asking for a buyback. Of course I’m told "we are not interested" and that’s it… After 11 Nissans this is what loyalty gets you. Terrible customer service and a big middle finger because you ask for a buy back on a 7 week old car with 2,200 miles on it.

BUYER BEWARE! I have owned two Nissan Pathfinders and have had the sunroof shatter on THREE separate occasions while driving down the highway at 110 km's an hour. The sound is like a gunshot going through the vehicle followed by tempered glass showering down over everyone inside. None of these instances were due to an impact from a rock, there was literally no one in front of me on the highway. It is due to the deterioration of the inferior glass they use to make the sunroof. There have been class action lawsuits in the U.S. for this very reason which outline the concern that has been brought to Nissan's attention. Nissan Canada does not care.
The dealership will not cover the cost to replace the parts for this, even if your vehicle is still under warranty and Nissan Canada is not interested in hearing about the problem. They simply say they understand how I feel, which is incredibly patronizing and dismissive. They will not entertain investigating this matter and will not forward my call along to someone who will actually listen. The person speaking to me just kept repeating they will not cover the cost, which wasn't even the question I was asking. I was asking what Nissan Canada is doing about this very dangerous situation.
Nissan Canada is content to put a dangerous vehicle on the road, which is a hazard both to the driver of the vehicle and those around them. DO NOT buy a Nissan vehicle if you value safety in your vehicle purchase. Nissan does not stand behind the product they are putting on the road. This will be my last Nissan vehicle that I ever purchase.

I am now having the same issue. I have been trying to get to Nissan Consumer affairs to discuss this issue with no luck. I have spent hours on the phone without even getting to speak to a live person. I have sent numerous emails with no response other than them leaving a voicemail saying that they were trying to contact me with a callback number. I took possession of a 2022 Nissan Platinum Pathfinder that I paid cash for on 8/24/21. To date Nissan has not sent the MSO to my dealer so that I can get title in my name. For 9 weeks I've had to park my new car, DMV, my insurance, no one shows ownership. I've also had to get two extensions on my temporary plates from the dealer. I'm further insulted to get the Sirius notices saying my free trial is over when I haven't even been able to drive the car. When I call Nissan they never return my calls. I've called Corporate twice with zero courtesy of a phone call. Customer service is less than able to do a thing for me.
My dealer has tried and tried to work with Nissan to get my MSO. They pass the buck from person to person and don't have a clue who can bring this to a resolve. They have put me in a terrible legal situation liability wise, a car I paid cash for that I cannot drive, and could care less. I've never dealt with a less caring car manufacturer in my entire life. To date, 10/29/21 there is still no resolve, no care to resolve and no end in sight. Awful customer service, awful corporate office, that has no courtesy to return calls, just horrible!

3 year old vehicle (2017 Pathfinder) with just over 60K kms, first time use of A/C this year and not working, rear A/C lines rusted and leaking. $150 diagnostic charge and $1,600 to fix, apparently, according to the dealer, the new vehicle and/or remaining 5 yr warranty will not cover the problem. Disappointed in the customer service and response. Vehicle needed new brakes after only 2 years with premature rusting and wear and was also not covered by warranty, had to maintain a basically brand new vehicle at $1,200 out of pocket.
New tires were needed under 50K, another $1,000 and another premature nightmare. Now these A/C lines are prematurely rusting and leaking with no coverage, to be honest I was expecting more from Nissan including better quality of materials and customer service. It appears that the materials are designed to wear and tear quickly and/or fail right around the warranty period expiry. The rear A/C lines corroding and leaking might actually be a design flaw, it's an issue that appears to frequently occur on more than just this Nissan model but Nissan will of course never admit to that. Why would Nissan worry or care about Freon entering our atmosphere due to their engineering/design??? Why would they ever be responsible or want to fix it??? Pathetic.
I wonder what's next, never thought of Nissan as a lemon but this Pathfinder just keeps on finding new problems. A/C should not fail, rust and require $1,600 of wear and tear maintenance on a 3 years old vehicle driven under normal conditions which is still within the 5 yr warranty period. In this Nissan 'Fail' summary, Nissan and customer service chooses to ignore premature corrosion of the A/C rear lines on the vehicle (a common flaw/issue on multiple Nissan models based on Internet complaints) leaving the owners to pay the bill for with no support from Nissan. Very disappointing,.. 3 year old vehicle with 63k km with premature corrosion issues and no coverage. Poor quality and even poorer customer service. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR - STAY AWAY FROM NISSAN! Never again…

In March 2018 I bought used Nissan Pathfinder 2015. At that time this vehicle had 63,000 km on it. I own this vehicle for 1.5 years. During this time total repair costs were $6,280:
- May 2018: $3,500 – replaced AC evaporator. There was only one OEM evaporator in Canada. When it was brought and installed, it turned to be defective. After that another aftermarket AC evaporator was installed instead.
- June 2018: drive belt was replaced again
- September 2018: radiator fan needs to be replaced. Fixing costs were just over $1000.
- August 2019: HVAC block started leaking. Fixing cost is $1,600.
I contacted Nissan in Canada and Japan. Nissan Canada replied that maintenance is key to maintain reliability. Sure, malfunctioned AC evaporator, defective radiator fan, leaking HVAC block – all of them require a lot maintenance. I am not sure why Nissan Canada lies like that. Nissan Japan offered a $100 gas card. Sure, $100 gas is going to help a lot with repair cost of $6,280. I asked Nissan to recognize this vehicle defective, but Nissan refused to do this. So, it means that this is normal Nissan quality. You decide if you are interested in such “quality”.
I also checked how customers are satisfied with Nissan Pathfinder on Consumer Report:
2017: 3 out of 5 (when I bought my 2015, it also had higher rating – it decrease over the time)2016: 2 out of 5

The paint guy said they over welded the stuff on the inside of the door and caused the metal to fail. I have replaced both visors because the hinge broke (please note dealership wanted $350 per). I have had to replace all of the door handles (all broke). The motor of the back hatch stopped working, the engine cooling fan bearing went bad. The driver's side seat motor went bad, the second row seat track stripped out of the floor. There is a mystery rattle from all doors (I have taken then apart and re sealed all the wires but it's still in one). All plastic covers fall off (everything) so I just glued them on.
The driver's seat leather is cracking and the dome light in the back just stopped working (I am emotionally broken and haven't fixed it yet). Oh and for some reason the antenna kept disappearing. I kept buying the Nissan ones to replace it, but finally bought some weird one and it has stayed on ever since. I hate it, but still owe about what it is worth so have to keep it another year. I've already contacted Nissan consumer affairs on multiple occasions and they’ve made it clear they won’t do absolutely anything. I’ve had my 2013 Nissan Pathfinder for under 6 years. It has under 120k miles and it’s been in the shop for over 20 issues, including 8 recalls - you can take a guess on how much money we’ve lost. Over the last year, with a number of calls to Nissan consumer affairs, we learned rather quickly that Nissan does not take consumer safety seriously, and they will shut down your pleas for them to look into why your car repeatedly breaks down. With a husband who is Active Duty Military and gone all the time, I have found myself on many occasions stranded (alone and with young children) with a car that decided to break while I was driving down the road.
My car currently is sitting with a bad a/c compressor (fun stuff while living in the south with temps over 100 degrees and having young children to tow around), coolant leaks from the head gaskets, a catalytic converter problem, broken sun visor etc. I expected more from Nissan. But it will take something traumatic to happen for Nissan to take claims seriously. But even then, I don’t see them doing anything. If I were any of you, I would stay far away from Nissan. They will NOT make wrongs right. I will include a list of reasons we’ve had to take our car in for repairs - I know a handful are missing.

I recommend that you test drive the vehicle thoroughly before purchasing. It pings when it shifts down to a low gear when on a hill. The dealership here in Vancouver was able to duplicate the pinging with other vehicles on the lot. Nissan has informed me that the 'vehicle is operating as designed'. Shocked that Nissan is taking this stand. Extremely disappointed in Nissan's decision to do nothing. With the transmission replaced after 6000 kms and now this pinging. If I could return the vehicle, I would in a heartbeat!
