I have a Nissan Armada which I love my truck but the boosters are bad on them. When I'm driving it goes out sometimes which is not safe. I had to check several times. When the light goes off it starts back working again, so therefore the mechanic can't tell what's wrong with. I think we need a recall on the boosters. Sunnyside can clear this up before someone lose their family and himself behind the bass booster on these truck are a refund for the truck I at least another car in the place of it. This is not faith and all please help us to clear this problem. Thanks!

2004 Nissan armada - On several occasions when I'm driving the vehicle with no warning the brakes go out, grind, make like a spring sound, and I'm not able to stop the vehicle. I'm so afraid for my family and our safety. Not to mention the innocent people that could be affected by this defect in the manufacturing and sales of this Nissan. I'm going to the newspaper, news, and social media if this problem is not recalled. Inevitably this is going to cause an accident! "Recall Nissan."

So I bought the truck in 2005 November. It's a 2006 Nissan Armada LE 4x4 fully loaded. I got it with about 18 miles on it. Now it just reached 108k about a week ago. SO FAR THE TRUCK HAS GAVE ME %100! I have taken this truck to mexico 6 times (10k miles each time) And I don't stop on my way to sleep. Only gas stations and two or three rest areas +100F with the AC on and it has never overheated on me once!!! Reasons why it never gave me problems is because I've gave it service whenever it needed it or even before it needed it. (Spark plugs, injector cleaner, air filters, oil change and oil filter) the basics.

About a month ago my truck started leaking oil from the 4x4 transmission. I believe that has a name but idk what it's called. Mechanic said it's the gasket on the 4x4 transmission that they will eventually get hot and start cracking but its normal. Plus I never use my 4x4 so I really don't care. But why risk it leading into a bigger problem? So I fixed it... I recommend this truck ONLY IF YOU TREAT YOUR CAR RIGHT! Some people want it to be the best car In the world but all you do is pump gas and drive...-___- Also I highly recommend to buy the truck first owner that way you don't get it all messed up. Some people like to abuse these big v8 trucks (5.6 v8 305hp.)

I took my wife's truck to work yesterday which is something I never do. On my way home the brake light came on and I had no braking power, while I was on the highway. There was a grinding noise and a buzzing sound. Luckily, I made it to a service station and had it checked out. They called me today saying it was fine now but are suggesting I replace the front and rear rotors and pads plus changing the brake fluid costing $850. I'm glad I looked this issue up before telling them to do the work. This is not a mechanical issue. This is a computer issue Nissan needs to address.

This site saved me a lot of money that would not of fixed the problem. I will contact Nissan to see if there is a recall or if they will fix this. If not, I will file a class action lawsuit. There is no way they can say that they are not aware of this issue. I'm just glad it happened to me and not my wife! It's a shame because other than this, it had been a good solid vehicle. Now I also have to deal with this Meineke shop that tried to swindle me of $800. I'm sure they looked this up and already knew what was wrong.

I am having the same problem that it seems every other Armada owner is having with the brake light coming on and when you go to apply the brakes they grid and have a popping noise like a spring. I have a 2005 Nissan Armada 4x4. I have had for about 2 years now and I love everything about it except for this problem. I know there has been a class action lawsuit on this issue but they were only going to give me $20.00 to have this problem fixed just because my car is a 2005. I have been told that it would cost closer to $1,000 or more to have the problem fixed. I don't want the money I just want my car fixed so it is safe for my family. I don't understand why Nissan won't do a recall on this problem considering how many people I have seen complain about the same problem. Can someone help with this issue?

I have a 2005 Armada purchased in 2006. This car now has closed to 200,000 miles. I have been having brakes locked up and grinding issues for years. Car will not move when grinding. I took it in several years ago and service stated that they cannot do anything with it unless it was on. Are these service guys idiots?! I said cannot move car when it comes on. Nissan listen to your consumers. You almost killed me. I was on highway not a road and not going 40 mph. We are talking 65 mph. Your brakes locked up abruptly. My car does not accelerate. I had to try to find a shoulder to creep into to turn off my engine so the brakes would release. Are you trying to kill us? Where the hell is the recall? This is as important as your airbag recall. I have dealt with this for so many years. Fix the issue cause it is still happening for almost 9 years now.

We own a 2006 Nissan Armada that we bought new and has been well serviced over the years. For those of you who have experienced similar problems, this class action lawsuit might apply: Banks v. Nissan North America, Inc. **. Overall, we are happy with the Armada, but it shouldn't take a class action lawsuit to fix something that clearly should be a free recall fix. He made a turn back towards his home and came to a red light, as he stopped the fire came through the floor and melted his shoes. He had to break through passenger side window, which he had put down a few inches. All doors and windows were inoperable. The Armada was completely destroyed in a matter of minutes. Thank GOD he wasn't hurt! I bought this car from AutoNation used almost three years ago. Why was I not informed about this recall?

I have a 2010 Nissan Armada SE, with under 36,000 miles on it. Today, after buying some WD40 for the rear truck to fully release, I left the AutoZone lot. When I put the truck in reverse, the transmission changed hard, then the VDC OFF, BRAKE, and SLIP lights came on. When I put the vehicle in drive, and accelerated, the vehicle took off with more torque than it normally does. Upon trying to stop, the brakes went super spongy, and came to a smooth stop, which isn't ok, when your foot has the brake pedal all the way to the floor. I have been reading everything, from the rear lift gate/tailgate issues, with that not fully unlocking, to now this dangerous issue.

I am in NY, and will be contacting Charles Schumer, and Kristen Gillibrand, the US senators from NY. It doesn't make sense, we should have to pay for a safety defect that shouldn't have this problem so early, and for some of us, with low mileage. We do need to bombard the U.S. Attorney General office, and our respective state Atty. General office, letting them know, we are contacting the US Atty General office also......

I have a 2006 Nissan Armada and it starting falling apart around the 75,000.00 mark. First of all, I am now due for what will be my 4th set of brakes. My brake light will come on for no apparent reason while driving and when you try to stop brakes make this grinding noise and makes it hard to come to a stop. If I pull over shut the car off and restart it then it resets. VERY DANGEROUS...

Have contacted Nissan several times with no response. Controls on steering wheel no longer work and a month ago horn no longer works. Both front seats have extreme wear to upper corner on left driver’s side and on the right passenger side, ironed on patches. I am assuming from sliding off the seat when getting out of the vehicle. A seat should last a much longer than that. My driver window motor went out at 75,000 miles. Two air control knobs to the right will only work with covers off and have to use your fingers to adjust with the little black knob. On the back left passenger window all the paint has come off of the metal. (Funny thing is... not happening on any other window... just that one.)

Back latch will not open unless you crawl into the back of the car. Back glass will not open at all any more. My thermostat just went out, and yesterday my windshield wiper fluid no longer squirts out from front or rear. I now have 113,000 miles on my car and I am the only owner. I seldom have passengers and I am totally upset with the quality of this expensive ride. I have had on at least 3 different occasions emailed Nissan with no response. I have NEVER in my life had so many things fall apart on a car. I bought this car with only 6 miles on it back in Nov of 2005. And the worst thing about it is the fact... it is now paid off and not worth crap because of everything wrong with it. Nice waste of over $50,000 not including all the interest paid...GRRRRRR.

    Updated on 09/17/2015:

Still NO response from NIssan. In the meantime of all the other things that have fallen apart on my vehicle I just had a new set of front and rear brakes along with rotors replaced in 8/2015. I also had to have a tie rod replaced as it was broken and I had never known it. My brake light keeps coming on at different times which means.... YOU CANNOT STOP!!! The brakes grind to a halt and I have to pull over, turn off the car and restart it. This is a death trap! I am now finding myself looking at my dash very cautious every time I go to apply my brakes to make sure my brake light is not on to allow myself time to stop.

What is it going to take for Nissan to get the point of a horrible vehicle... DEATH??? Then a few days ago I noticed a light flashing on my instrument panel. I thought it was for the seat belt. I looked in the manual and it is the airbag light that constantly flashes... WTH now??? I tried some things I found online of how to possibly reset it and no luck. So great. AIRBAG ISSUE NOW ALONG WITH THE BRAKE ISSUE... I am sure in a death trap now. Then tonight I went to press the unlock button so I could get out of the car and it would not work. I had to grab the little lever and pull it out so I could get out of my car. Then I went to use my keychain alarm to lock it and it did nothing.

2007 Nissan Armada: I have the same complaint with my brakes as other consumers. The brake light comes on, the brakes start grinding and you can't stop easily. Once you finally stop and turn the car off and restart it, the brake light goes off then stops normally again. You don't get any warning at ALL; this is very serious. Repair shop told us that they couldn't tell us what was wrong unless the light was on when we brought it in. It came on and we took it in and they told us that it was the delta sensor in the Power Brake Booster and that the whole booster had to be replaced. Found part at NAPA for $219.00 plus core and about 4 hrs to change. Then we were told that we had to take in to reset the ECM so that the sensor and ECM will communicate again, another half an hour.

We own a 2007 Nissan Armada, purchased in early 2008 from the original owner. The vehicle has been a dream for us, no complaints up until two years ago. Aside from the occasional need for repairs, which were minor and fully covered under the extended warranty, we had no issue whatsoever. In early 2013 we had an incident while driving in a parking lot where out of nowhere, the brakes seemed to lock up on their own. It was as if the e-brake was stuck suddenly. Fortunately we were going slow but the whole vehicle shuddered and grinded. The only solution was to park the car, turn the key off and restart the car.

This issue did not happen for several months, but the second time it happened, I was on the freeway. I was able to pull to the shoulder and turn the car off to reset, but suffice it to say, I was quite alarmed when this happened. Again, we were safe (me and my 3 children) and it was during the day, in good weather, but of course the thought ran through my mind of how bad it could have been.

The techs at Nissan say they haven't heard of this problem and can't troubleshoot since they can't replicate the problem. Other issues we've had all seem to be electrical (also surfacing in the last two years) which makes me wonder if it's all related to an electrical system issue. None of the problems I list have been corrected by service since they are all intermittent: Backup camera feed cuts out, sunroof will not close automatically, drivers side window will not close or lower automatically, drivers side window gets stuck, brake light goes out for days and then suddenly starts working, "key in ignition" alarm sounds with no key inserted. With all this stated, we are still looking at purchasing a new Armada when the time comes (which might be soon if all these issues are too costly to repair).

The brakes Nissan does know about - when I went to sign for the truck they had a document (which I still have) which stated that Nissan had completed brake work on the truck. Since then the brakes (front) go out while driving, and it seems to be a pressure related item. Once this happens I shift the truck into neutral, turn it off then back on. The computer resets and pressure is back at the front brakes. I took the truck to Nissan in Gulfport MS and they asked me to bring it in when this happens again. The only way to pull that off is to drive with no stopping pressure to the brakes and hope you do not crash trying to make it to Nissan. I have not made it there yet.

Bought a 2008 Armada. My roof console fell down and almost injured my passenger. Took it in and after several back and forth conversations with the dealer they finally agreed to fix it, only to have it fall down again. My door handle on the back trunk is coming off again after being fixed by Nissan. My front door is off track and makes noise when closed. The slip brake light and vdc is onset for no reason. The brakes have went to the floor along with the traction or stopping. Leaking in back window, which by the way never opened. Scary, unsafe vehicle.

Bumper was slightly bent downward after I hit the truck. “It was a Very Scary Moment!” Lucky, I was not hurt. But the passenger in the other vehicle did claim the next day, injury! Prior to this accident my Armada has had problems with the brake system. The VDC, Slip, Brake indicators lights coming on And At times I would brake and hear a grinding sound on the left front side. I have turned off the truck and the computer resets and it goes back to a normal operational state! Nissan Has ignored my and consumers complaints on this braking system malfunctioning! And Nissan is AWARE of these brake system problems! Something has to be done. I DO NOT WANT TO DIE IN A VEHICLE ACCIDENT OR KILL SOMEONE!!! What To Do?? I know one thing. We bought a Brand New 2010 Nissan Armada Platinum in January 2010. A few months ago the paint started failing. I have taken the car to the dealer and they told me to take it to the Nissan authorized body shop in the area. I did this and the body shop told me that the Clear Coat had failed due to bad paint, improper paint mixing or poor paint application. I had the body shop send the quote, pictures and diagnosis to the dealer and they gave me the runaround (Team Nissan in Oxnard, California).

I called Nissan consumer affairs and lodged a complaint about it. After a month I got the complaint upgraded to a regional complaint (Whatever that means). After a week or so Nissan in North America declined to help pay for the new paint job. Does anybody out there think that it is acceptable for a 4-year-old car to need a new paint job? This car is one of the most expensive Nissan badged cars out there and it needs a paint job when it is 4 years old. Really? There are many other Nissan paint complaints on this website and others. Maybe we should all get together and sue Nissan for continued "negligence in their painting process". They must be well aware of the problem and are choosing to ignore it. NEVER BUY ANY NISSAN.

After I bought the Armada I've been very happy with everything except the brake indicator comes on and sometimes when I brake it shakes and grinds and sounds like the whole thing is coming apart. I did some research online and I'm not sure where I found it but it said that the problem was with the on board computer. And by restarting the engine that reboots the computer the noise stops. This has only happened a couple of times, a garage in Oceanside California suggested I replace the entire front end for 3400.00. I just pull over and restart the engine. The second problem is with the rear alignment. It seems to go out of alignment easily. I had to replace the rear tires after only 6 months of wear because I wasn't aware of the problem. I couldn't find any Nissan dealer that would admit this was a problem with other owners. This website is not the only place I have found these complaints.

They replaced the struts under Warranty. I had to pay to have the rotors Ground & replace the Brakes. I had 23,195 miles at that time. I now have 25,985 miles and heard same noise again, took it to the Dealer & they found Front Drivers Side Caliber Frozen & Rear brakes. Now Rotors. They said replace. I asked why not grind like they did on the Fronts in Jan 2014. They agreed to grind Rotors & replace the Brake Pads at my cost again.

I really believe that there is an issue with Brakes on the Armada. I paid for Full Coverage Bumper to Bumper so I would not have to pay out of Pocket but it seems that wear & tear is Not Covered. I understand that But if it is a Cause because of Defective Parts or Engineering, We as Customers SHOULD NOT PAY. Very Frustrated. What happens again in a few months? Brakes Again.

2004 Nissan Armada Throttle Body - Even though my husband said don't buy the Armada the first year out, I had to! Wanted it and loved it till last month. I just perused many reviews and see that most complain about the brakes. Nissan did under-engineer them for the size and weight. They replaced my rotors free the first time. OK. I had to pay the next time out of pocket. They work fine with an occasional weird awful grind thing that happens after I am parked. I have to stop, turn off and restart.

But here is MY BIG COMPLAINT. I have gotten all my oil changes and service AT A NISSAN DEALER so my car should be great! Right? So far... Last year -$1000.00 to repair long ac line to back unit. This spring - $1000.00 for new power steering hose and new radiator (which they screwed up and I leaked transmission oil all the way up to Maine from NJ. Do not go to Windsor Nissan). Last month - service engine soon light... Told it needs new catalytic converter... $3000.00 plus. So, I said I would speak to my husband, drove out and 1 hour later I was broken down on side of road. Gave car to our mechanic we use for our business needs and he says... THROTTLE BODY...another $1000 plus maybe.

So DCH Nissan diagnosed my car, saw catalytic converter come up and stopped? An hour later I break down? Our mechanic also will have to charge us for extensive hours spent on the phone with Nissan support who also didn't tell him to replace the gas pedal sensor? He found that out after changing throttle body, and also breaking down on side of road. They should have told him somewhere in those 4 hours to change the other sensor too. So I will have to pay him for the extra 4 hours?

Yes I have 155,000 miles BUT I have my Nissan maintenance book stamped with almost every service in there done at the proper time and have consistently changed oil at 3500 miles and I should have made it to 200,000 easy. Nissan customer affairs is in a phone dialogue with me now. DCH Nissan in Freehold, NJ never responded to my email. What will Nissan do for me? Will I buy another Nissan? The ball is in their court. ANYONE ELSE HAVE THROTTLE BODY ISSUES?

I bought my 2004 Nissan Armada new and have, like most other Armada owners, dealt with random braking problems over the years. When the brake warning light comes on by itself, you can expect not to have much braking power due to the antilock system turning on randomly. If you turn the truck off and restart it, the problem will go away. It will randomly happen at any time regardless of weather or driving conditions. A mechanic friend of mine studied the problem and tried realigning the steering wheel via the computer settings and the problem was fixed for over 2 years. Now it is happening again so I will try having the steering wheel adjusted again. Also the VDC Off, Brake, and Slip lights will all come on randomly. This doesn't appear to cause any noticeable changes when driving the vehicle but something is not quite right if lights randomly come on like that.

I think Nissan should address this problem instead of pretending like it doesn't exist and acting like they've never seen or heard of the problem before. They know good and well there are safety issues with the Armada brakes but evidently not enough people are complaining for them to issue a recall. I would encourage all Armada owners to let your voices be heard before someone gets killed due to no braking power.

Its natural to let up off the brakes when you hear the popping and grinding to prevent further damages to any other part of the system, but could be great risks involved. Fortunately we have not been in any accidents nor caused any. I have changed out all rotors and brakes, manually checked for leaks in and around the calipers, cylinders and booster. Everything is dry and tight. Clearly this is some type of computer error. Nissan needs to address this problem regardless of how long we all have been owning our Armadas at no cost to us.

Somewhere around 21500 miles, with the whole family on the truck, we were doing around 30 MPH and was approaching the light. When I hit the brakes, we heard this grinding noise and the braking power is much less than normal. The Brake light was ON, which only lit up when the safety/foot brake is pressed. But when I checked, the safety/foot brake was indeed released. Good thing we had sufficient distance from the car ahead of us and we were able to stop just in time.

We pulled over and tried to look at each of the tires for any obvious signs that could have come loose... nothing. We restarted the engine and the brake light went off. The brakes seems to operate normally again. However, from that time till now, we have encountered the same problem at least 3 times. I brought it to the dealership and they said they found nothing wrong on the braking system. Reading on this forum, looks like we are not alone. My transmission expert with 40 years experience found where Nissan had this very same issue and recalls on 3 smaller Nissan SUVs and with the same model # transmissions. I called Nissan Consumer affairs and they tell me yes it may be the same model number transmission and yes it was an identical problem that caused the transmission to fail but since the Armada (of the same years as the others) was not included in the recall, I have to bear the cost to the tune of $5,900 for a brand new transmission. The dealer said that there was nothing that they could do. I called Nissan Corporate. I voiced my concerns that substandard materials had been used. I also stated that a vehicle that was only 3 years old, and costing that much should not be experiencing this type of problem.

Nissan Corporate did not acknowledge that they had used sub standard materials, and said there was nothing that they could do. After researching it, I found others on the post that I am stationed on experiencing the same problem. I also found a website/blog full of people experiencing the exact same problem. Not long after the back upper console fell, I notice gaps in the front upper console. A few weeks later, it too fell down. I didn't bother wasting my time with Nissan because they would not assume responsibility for their sub standard pieces. I also had an issue with my braking system. Upon going downhill, or when driving in the rain, my brakes would lock up, shake and grind.

My truck would keep moving. I went to a local brake chain and had it fixed. Currently my truck is 5 years old, and the paint on the hood has started to fade. My husband who also owns a Nissan Titan has the same fading issue. I am not going to bother wasting any more time trying to reason with Nissan. They refuse to take any kind of responsibility. Therefore, they have lost a loyal customer. I will not purchase another Nissan until they improve on their quality of vehicle and customer concerns. I will just wait on the class action suit when it comes along.

Then both front window motors go out.

I don't know about anyone else, but that has never happened to me before with any car I've owned. Maybe, I'm just unlucky, but the final straw was when my wife was driving about 30 mph on a rainy day here in California and the side curtain airbags deployed all of a sudden with no accident happening, just flat out deployed. It seems I've found some information about recalls on the airbag sensor, but unfortunately, my 04 armada isn't included even though it has the same problem.

I've seen multiple post about this airbag issue with similar incidents about airbag deployment without an accident due to their faulty sensor. I've contacted the nissan corporate office and guess what?, they want me to pay for the diagnosis of their sensor that they know is faulty. There are no guarantees that they would even fix the issue. Let alone pay for new airbags, sensors, and along with that new seat belts due to the fact that the pretensioner for the seat belt are completely locked due to airbag deployment! This vehicles don't cost pennies. We the consumers pay top dollars, therefore Nissan should take full responsibility for their products... Or do we all have to get together and file a lawsuit against Nissan, would that solve the ongoing problem?... Just a question.

Lift works sometimes, brake light comes on and a very noisy stop (turning off and restarting vehicle corrects this problem), and transmission that feels as if it is slipping at times. I would think Nissan would attempt to correct these problems since it appears that from the first model year of the Armada (2004) to present, the vehicle has some serious issues. I called the manufacturer and they said they would forward my complaints. Guess what's in my mailbox weekly now. Promotions to buy another Nissan.

I'm so surprised by these reviews. I drove a 2006 Armada that I bought new. Loved it! 3 years later when my lease was up, I bought a 2008. I will say my brake booster box went out in my 06. It wasn't under warranty but my local Nissan dealership said that it should not have gone out that soon and they covered all the repairs. 2 weeks ago, I was broadsided by another car at a high speed and my 2008 Armada flipped. My car was completely totaled. After crawling out the window, I walked away from the accident. The frame held up amazingly. After my insurance totaled my car, I bought another one. I now have a 2014 and I can't imagine driving anything else!

Ever since I bought the Armada, I started to have problems within one year. It was shaking and started to shake and the brake is not functioning and making noise. I was informed that it was the braking system. I was in the highway and the brake was malfunctioning and I have to slowly move to the side and turn off the engine and restart the car. At first, the brake will work and then it was malfunctioning again. The company knows that this is an ongoing problem with this model and they never fix these parts which is making it unsafe to use. I have it checked again and was informed of the same problem and it cost me over $900 for the parts and labor. My issue is that the company knows that this is an ongoing problem but they never replace these parts which is making it unsafe and high cost for repair. I will never recommend anyone to buy this car or any NISSAN cars at all.

But though is happening more and it is dangerous, the service center said it is normal that this happened to these trucks, but now reading and looking on the internet, notice this is a HUGE problem that Nissan is ignoring.

I was in an accident on August 19th 2013. I had rear ended a Ford truck that was pulling a metal trailer. I was driving a Nissan Armada 2010. We were in stop and go traffic traveling about 8 to 10 mph. The accident was my fault. Putting my coffee into the cup holder, I looked down for a moment and rear ended the trailer. Upon impact the airbag deplored which was startling in itself. After that happened my face was numb and I was very shaken. I started smelling gases which I know were in the airbag. That after a minute I was smelling smoke as though something was on fire. I was frantic. Looking around it was the airbag. I immediately started to hit the airbag to stop the fire.

After the emergency vehicle came and looked at me, I was very shaken but very relieved at the same time that my children were not in the vehicle. My 5 year old son has asthma. My vehicle so full of smoke he would have been rushed to the hospital. Many of the respondents to the accident said they had never seen an airbag do that. When my husband met me after the accident, we called an attorney. They advised my to contact Nissan, which I did. Amber with Nissan was the first person I talked to. She was very surprised to hear what happened. She also said she had never hear of anything like this happening. She gave my case top priority and would have someone contact me.

Days later no phone call so I call back to see if there was an progress. Still nothing for hours so I contacted the attorney again. We had setup an appointment for Friday that week. Finally late that afternoon Nissan called. After talking to a man named Lucas he wanted to start an investigation on my vehicle. Through our conversation he made it very clear that it was not their fault I had an accident and it is custom for an airbag to deploy even in a fender bender if it hits the sensor just right. I told him that I understood that but I didn't think it was ok that the airbag started on FIRE. He never seemed to care what I was saying to him.

After a month long investigation they said everything happen with the safety system in the vehicle worked the way it was designed to do. That still was not my concern. It was the fire that happened to the airbag. When I said this again to Lucas it was as though I had never said one word before about the fire. He said he would need to talk to someone else about that. I was taken back by this. The fire from the airbag was my only concern. My children being in an unsafe vehicle, if I would have been in a worst accident and passed out not able to stop the fire wold I still be alive??? Or would the safety system built to protect consumers burn us alive?

I didn't ask for much from them. I want a vehicle that I felt safe in. That I wouldn't worry about my next accident and if me or my children would lose our lives because of a fire in one of the seven other airbags in this vehicle. Just want some help because Nissan doesn't care at all about the consumer or the lives that they risk.

Why is it taking so long for Nissan to recognize its failure. I can tell you this. My next vehicle will not be a Nissan, sad to say. On June 19, 2013, my kids and I were driving out of town to an appointment. I was on the highway going 70 mph with no problems and or warning signs. As I was slowing down to make an exit, the brake light came on and my truck started making a loud grinding noise. It sounded like it was coming from the front. As I applied the brakes my SUV still rolled forward, ultimately stopping.

Panicked and shocked, I pulled over, and placed the car in park. I called my husband to tell him what had just happened. I reluctantly (because I was so afraid to drive it) drove it over to a mechanic who told me he found absolutely nothing wrong with my Armada and heard no sounds. I drove the truck back home (we were at least one hour away from home) and had no other problems.

A few weeks later, I experienced the same exact problem, out of nowhere, the brake light comes on, the loud grinding sound, after the brake is applied. The car still rolls forward, finally stopping. I pulled into a "Do Not Enter" section of a because I was experiencing brake failure during 5 o'clock traffic!! Again, I was scared and shocked that this was happening. I turned the car off and turned it back on and had no problems.

What just happened?! This situation is so scary! It's so random!! Of course, I was pissed!! I called the Nissan dealership and was told to bring it in and let them take a look at it. Before I could get it back in, this NASTY situation occurs again!!! I was closer to SEARS automotive, just as it happened. I pulled in, told them about what just occurred, and they said they'd look at it. Once again, they found nothing wrong, and heard no sounds!!

My SUV gets a regular tune up, oil change, brake check and tire alignment. I have an appointment with Nissan. Hmm... what are they going to find? What I've learned is that once my vehicle has been turned off, it's reset. Come on Nissan!!! We pay a lot of money for your vehicles!! I've owned a 2008 Armada since July of 2007 - it was one of the first ones that rolled off the truck. Initially, I loved it. We've driven the car a lot (over 150,000 miles), but we've always been on time with preventive maintenance. This car has had the brake issues that many have mentioned (indicator lights, grinding, and loss of braking power). It cost over $900 to repair. The rear overhead console fell off and broke into pieces. The front console is about to come off as well. The dealership wants over $3,000 to fix both.

I found the parts online for about $300 total (just the plastic console - all the other parts are still working). I've also had the radiator spring a leak and had to do extensive repairs to the cooling system at about $800. Finally, I've had to repair the lift gate, the lift gate glass, have the VDC computer reset and replace the front brake pads about every 25K miles - basically every year. In my opinion, this vehicle is extremely high maintenance and somewhat dangerous. Once I install the overhead consoles, I'm trading it in. Nissan has made a lot of money off me. This is by far the worst experience I've had with a vehicle. Good luck to those that keep it. It's just not worth all the headaches.

Every time I take my car to get the brakes checked, they can't find anything wrong. I feel like they think I am a crazy person obsessed with my brakes. I am so pissed. Nissan ought to be ashamed of themselves and the NTSB for letting this go unresolved. They should be forced to do a recall. The noise got louder and we brought it in again but this time the mileage was above 80,000, which is when warranty expired. This time they mysteriously figured out that it was the exhaust manifold that is cracked and it will be at least $1400 to fix the driver side. And, if the passenger side is also cracked, it will be another $1400. I understand that sometimes there are problems with cars that mechanics have a hard time figuring out.

However, the cracked manifold is a very common problem with this car. If a problem is a common one that is a result of a design flaw, it wouldn't that be one of the first things a mechanic would look at when trouble-shooting. The fact that Nissan discontinued using the same manufacturer for their manifolds because of common problem really should have made this the first thing mechanics look at. We contacted Nissan and after getting the run-around for 30 days, they came back and said they will not back up their product. If you are considering a Nissan Armada, think again.

On 8-15-2011, I was operating my 2006 Nissan Armada and I was traveling at highway speed when I noticed that my brake light was on. I tested the brakes and I immediately heard a grinding and popping noise, as well as noises indicating that the ABS was activating off and on. The pedal was very soft and my braking effectiveness was severely diminished. Had I needed to make a sudden stop or been expecting my brakes to react normally, I would not have been able to stop at a safe distance. I pulled at the side of the road and visually inspected the brakes but found no issues. I checked the brake fluid level and saw that it was fine (just below the max mark and well above the min). By this time, my brake light, VDC off, and slip light were all illuminated. I shut the vehicle off then restarted it. The three lights were still lit, but the brakes were reacting normally. I then took it to Gabe Rowe Nissan in Rocky Mount, NC and left it there. It was after 5 p.m., so I could not speak with anyone in the service department at that time. Please note that on the date of the brake failure, I was driving at 65 mph on HWY 64 by pass (full access control highway) on a straight and level surface, on a clear and sunny day.

About a month prior to this incident, I had noticed the brake, VDC off, and slip light were illuminated, but had no braking failure. When I shut the vehicle off, the lights were no longer on and the brakes were still working properly. I called the Nissan Dealership and was told that the lights could have been activated because the break fluid was low or it was getting close to the time to replace the break pads. I checked the fluid level and it was fine (same as mentioned above). A few months prior, I had the rotors resurfaced and the pad replaced on the front brakes, therefore, I knew that these brakes were not in need of replacement. I checked the rear brakes and rotors and did not see that the pads or rotors were in a condition that would require replacement. I figured that it was a computer glitch and I continued to drive the vehicle. My wife did tell me, after the brake failure, that she had noticed the same three lights illuminated in the past but they would shut off after she restarted the car.

I conducted some research online and found that this was not a rare or isolated incident. I found out that Nissan had issued a Technical Service Bulletin (NTB06-040). This 22 paged document covers some of the failures with the braking system. It states on page 2 that if error code C1179 is stored, a re-program of the VDC is required. This re-program is supposed to fix the breaking issue.

I also discovered that a class-action lawsuit had been filed in California against Nissan for a braking issue similar to what I, and many others, have described. You can read the lawsuit here: **. More can be found about the re-programming procedure in this court document.

I also found out that many consumers have reported similar breaking issues on Consumer Affairs. See the following link for further reports: **.

Nissan Armada forums described similar issues with brake failures and warning lights. Many took their car to a Nissan Dealership only to be told that a problem could not be found. The following link displays over 25 pages of forums related to the issues with the Nissan Armada: **.

The following link shows multiple pages of brake failure similar to the one that I experienced: **.

This thread details a crash that occurred due to a brake failure on a Nissan Titan (same platform as the Armada) where the driver was injured: **.

Finally, I found over 40 reports of similar brake failures filed with NHTSA under various brake related sections (**). You will need to change the component section in the search to the various braking options to find all the listings.

On 8-16-2011, I contacted Gabe Rowe Nissan via phone and spoke with Kim. I told her of my experience and she advised that the problem would be checked. I was later called and informed that the error codes had been pulled and a failure was found in the VDC module, which would need to be re-programmed. I assumed that this conclusion arrived in conjunction with the Technical Service Bulletin NTB06-040. I was told that the price for my services would be approximately $130. I agreed to have the re-program completed. At around 5 p.m., I contacted the dealership and spoke with Kim to see if my vehicle was ready. She informed me that it was and then told me that my bill would be less than expected. They did not have to do the re-program because this repair had already been done in the past. I was told that the only service performed on the braking system was the addition of the brake fluid, which she stated was really low. I advised her that I had checked the brake fluid and I knew that it was not low prior to leaving the vehicle. I was not satisfied with what had been done and I told her that I would want to speak with the service manager in person when I arrive.

Upon my arrival, I spoke with Rick. He began to tell me that a diagnostic test was completed on the braking system and that code C1179 had been found, which would require a re-program of the VDC module. He told me that when he tried to re-program the system, he found that this process had been done some time in the past. He told me that the brakes and brake lines were inspected and they all appeared fine. Due to these facts, he concluded that the brake fluid was the culprit of my problems. He again told me that my brake fluid was low and that he had filled it up. I told him that I had checked the brake fluid level and I found out that it was about an inch above the minimum level indicated on the reservoir and an inch below the maximum level (about halfway in-between). He continued to tell me that the fluid level may have triggered the warning lights, especially under hard acceleration or hard turning. I informed him that the problem began while traveling at a consistent speed, in a straight line, on the highway. He continued to tell me that the fluid level may have caused the warning light. I then asked what would have caused the brake failure, grinding/popping sounds, ABS activation, and soft pedal that I had experienced. He then told me that he had not been completely informed as to the total problem that I had experienced. He said that he could contact the Nissan Tech Line and see if they could come up with any suggestions to diagnose the problem. I told him that during my online research, I found out that a faulty Delta Stroke Sensor had been diagnosed as the problem for these types of braking issues and warning lights. I asked where in the braking system this was found and he told me that it was in the brake booster. He continued by stating that he would contact the Nissan Tech Center and see if they could help in diagnosing the problem. He told me that I could take the vehicle home with me and bring it back when he found out more information. I told him that I felt the vehicle was unsafe to drive and I also told him that I would leave it there until the proper repair could be made.

On 8-17-2011, I was contacted by Rick via phone. He informed me that he contacted the Nissan Tech Center in Tennessee and it was concluded that the brake booster needed to be replaced. I asked how this conclusion was made and he told me that the tech center reviewed the error codes and the problems that I had experienced. Rick told me that the booster needed to be replaced, which included the Delta Stroke Sensor. I asked if it was the booster or the Delta Stroke Sensor that was faulty and he told me that since the system operated normally after shutting off the car, it was the Delta Stroke Sensor. I asked if only the sensor could be replaced and I was told that the two were an integrated unit that could not be separated. I was told that the cost of this repair would be approximately $750. I agreed to the repair and I was informed that the part would be ordered, and would probably not arrive until Friday 8-19-11 after lunch time. He advised me that he would try and have it installed that day, but if he was unable to, the job would be completed on Monday, 8-22-2011. Please note that the vehicle mileage was 118,542, no warranty.

On Monday, 8-22-2011, I was contacted and informed that my vehicle was ready. The repair bill was $752.34, which was paid in full on that date.

On 9-5-2011, while driving my vehicle under normal conditions, I noticed that the brake, VDC off, and brake light were on. I had no braking failure on this occasion. It was after 5 p.m. so I could not reach anyone at the service department at Gabe Rowe Nissan.

On 9-6-2011, I took the vehicle to Gabe Rowe Nissan and Rick performed a diagnostic test to troubleshoot the problem. He informed me that he pulled the code C1142, which was the brake pressure sensor. He told me that the rear pressure sensor would need to be replaced. I agreed to the repair and I was told that the part would need to be ordered.

On 9-19-2011, I was contacted and told that the pressure sensor was in and the repair could be done.

On 9-21-2011, both the front and rear pressure sensors were replaced. I was told that they are only ordered in pairs, so both were replaced. The cost for this repair was $201.03. Please note that the mileage was 119,439, no warranty.

The issue that I have is that the brake failure is a safety hazard to the public and to my family. Nissan is aware of the potential problem which is evident by their tech bulletin addressing the problem with error code C1179. Nissan has failed to recall this hazard though it is a documented and recurring problem with the Nissan Titan, Armada, and Infinity QX-56 (all with the same platform).

Solution: First, I am asking for the affected vehicles to be recalled and repaired appropriately to address the potential hazards that this issue could result in. Second, I am asking for Nissan to reimburse me the amount of $953.37. I have all service receipts from Gabe Rowe Nissan on file and available.

I own a 2004 Nissan Armada and I am the only owner. This SUV is a death trap. I will not let my kids or any other family member drive it.

Little after a year, while driving the brake light comes on. I try to apply the brake nut with no luck. All I could hear is grinding and squeaking. I have to put the car in neutral until it comes to a complete stop then restart the engine and that would reset my brake. After multiple questions, the dealer told me it’s because I park the car on a slope so the oil runs back and caused the problem.

After several bad experience with the same problem, I took it to another dealer and they claimed the on board computer was bad. I spend a lot of cash for that to be changed, with no luck. Now they tell me that another computer needs to be replaced for a lot of money. I cannot afford to do it.

The next big problem is if I come to a stop and when I am ready to go, the car will not respond. The engine will rev but the car will not move.

I own a 2005 Nissan Armada, and we keep having brake problems. We had to replace all 4 rotors and brakes all at once because the rotors went bad and chewed through the brake pads we did not find any warning on this it just all of a sudden started grinding. ABS brake light comes on while driving and brakes will fail. You have to pull over and turn the car off to reset the sensor. The car also has premature break pad ware. All these problems we have had are common problems with all 2005 Armadas but Nissan won't do anything about it. Instead I get to keep spending thousands of dollars to fix everything. Not Right!!

I purchased my Armada new and maintained manufacturer's recommended recurring maintenance ($500 to $800 per service) only to have to replace the transmission, transmission cooling hoses and belts 4 years (90,0000 miles) later. And now, my oil pressure gauge is reading at a quarter low at idle and the local dealership is trying to tell me this is normal even though it was not doing this before. Further research confirmed my concerns. The oil pump is more than likely bad. After being serviced by 3 different dealerships, me spending over $5,000.00 in repairs, I still have repair issues with my vehicle.

I have a 2004 Nissan Armada, the first year Nissan made this model. I have lost all heat, can only open the rear door part at the time, but have serious safety problems. There is a small bracket on the Armada and Titan that holds the parking brake above the axle. This small bracket, even in dry climate Colorado is corroding and snapping. Once this happens, the cable wraps around the axle and dislodges the axle and differential. At 55 miles an hour, the vehicle came to an immediate stop.

A huge snap occurred and the vehicle would not move again. The immediate stop was created by the parking cable wrapping around the axle and differential. Police responding to the incident stated it was a miracle that the vehicle did not roll creating serious injury. Nissan, Inc. blew me off as did the dealership charging me $300 for a diagnosis they never performed. They told me to file an insurance claim as the damage was substantial. I moved the vehicle to a body shop and that is where they showed me the cause of the accident. The bracket weld is corroding and allowed the cable to wrap around the axle snapping it and dislodging the differential.

On the other side of the Armada, the body shop showed me the bracket involved. This side, too, showed corrected weld and bracket. The damage was $9,000 and I spent the extra $400 to repair the other side. I am tired of being treated as an idiot by Nissan and their dealers and I am concerned for the safety of all Armada/Titan owners. I am a professional driver and I have years in classes on defensive driving. A new mother may not have the driving ability to keep the vehicle from rolling and creating serious injury or death.

2005 Nissan Armada-This is the 3rd time that the air bag problem light has come on since we have owned this vehicle and they are saying we have to pay for a diagnostics tests before they will fix it again! I realize the vehicle is not under warranty anymore but it looks to me like it never was fixed before. I don't care if the air bag is the front, passenger or backseat. Obviously, there is a problem with the whole system. I also had a brake recall when I first bought the car due to faulty brakes and now the brakes every once in a while act like they are going out but I have had it checked and they can't find anything. More than $100.00 for diagnostic test to determine what is causing the light to come on. I don't really care. They should fix it.

No physical damage yet and I hope that I don't have to go there. I think they are built a ticking time bomb with this vehicle and don't want to pay for it. If anything happens to me or my family due to an air bag or break problem you can bet your life I will be filing a law suit. I hope this can be resolved without further frustration on my part since I do not feel this has been my fault at all. Please review the past repair bills with Nissan in Fresno, CA and you can see that they have worked on the air bag system twice already and the break system as well which I still can't figure out what happens when it goes out. I own a 2008 Nissan Armada SE that I bought in July 08'. I received a recall letter about 2 weeks ago in the mail stating that some Armadas have a problem with the brake pedal pin. A few days later, I took it to the dealer I bought the car from. He wrote up the paper work called a tech from the back to see if my brake pedal was one of the affected cars and the tech said, "Nope, all is good." He wrote me up an invoice and I left. That was on 3/24/10. Yesterday, 4/4/10, I was driving with my 4 year old in the back and I was coming home from Easter dinner and I went to apply my brakes and had absolutely no brake pressure in my brake pedal. It was making a loud crunching noise. They simply were not working.

I knew I needed to pull over before I was in a serious car accident. I started to slow down because I was no longer hitting the gas pedal, and found an area of the side of the rode to try and stop the car. I hit the brake pedal to the floor, threw the car in park and slammed the emergency brake down with my foot. The car stopped. I called a roadside number Nissan provided me with when I received the recall letter. I waited 2 hours for a tow truck to come and tow my car to the dealer.

The dealer called me today 4/5/10 and stated the entire system that provides pressure to my brake pedal was shot. The car has only 16,600 miles on it. They have to take out and replace the brake booster in the car. Exactly what the recall paper said would happen, happened. But the part that makes me so angry is I took the car in right when I got the letter from Nissan Headquarters and they inspected the car. Which by the way took the tech less than 5 seconds to complete, and told me my brakes were fine.

Approx. 10 days later, I'm driving and my brakes were not there. Very scary, very dangerous. Had I not done the right thing, I would have gotten into a serious accident and me and my daughter could have been fatally injured. I am appalled by the way Nissan has handled this matter. Please contact me if you believe I have any legal course of action against Nissan North America or if I can better clarify my story. Thank you so much for your time.

I purchased a 2006 Nissan Armada SUV in 2008. In August of 2009, the vehicle caught fire stemming from the air-conditioning unit which I later found out has a manufactures recall. It was a 90 degree day and I had the air-conditioned on while I was talking on the cell phone. I begin to smell something burning and the air-conditioner stopped blowing cold air. So I parked the truck in my mother’s garage, cut the engine off and got out of the truck to look around.

At this time, I could not see any smoke coming from the car so I assumed the air-conditioning unit was just overheating and had to be serviced. I went into the house and came out approximately 5 min later to take out the trash and observed the Nissan on fire coming from the hood of the vehicle. The fire quickly spread and destroyed my garage and all its contents, including my other uninsured vehicle which was a Pontiac Bonneville. The neighbors have wood fence the deck of the house and windows and aluminum siding on the house.

After an investigation, Nissan denied responsibility for the incident even though two independent investigators hired by my insurance company found the air-conditioning unit responsible for the fire. Both the homeowners insurance and car insurance companies are suing Nissan for their incurred cost.

As a result I had to pay $500.00 deductible for both my homeowners insurance and auto insurance. I had aftermarket rims on the Armada which I haven’t been compensated for. I had an excellent condition 2002 Pontiac Bonneville which had a lot of aftermarket equipment and other valuables inside and only had no fault insurance on it at the time. I received no compensation for the car. I had to arrange for transportation to and from work every day and provide transportation to school and home for my two daughters, as well as pay for a sitter because I couldn’t take them to my regular sitter until I replaced my vehicle. My total losses are in excess of $20,000.

There is a defect in the braking system of the Nissan Armada, which is similar to Toyota. I complained well over a year about this safety issue but Nissan kept denying there was a problem. Finally, after my warranty expired, Cherry Hill Nissan admitted there is a serious flaw in the braking system and asked me to pay $1,900.00 dollars to fix it.

My issue is simple. This braking issue is a flaw that is going to kill someone. The ABS system shuts down, the VCD system fails and the regular brakes malfunction, as well. Nissan is trying to kept this issue quiet and out of the public's eye.

I have gone to various Nissan Armada forums, and have seen hundreds of complaints about this problem (and those are just the ones who found their way to the forums. There must be thousands more out there). I am going to have to pay a lot of money to get it fixed so I can sell it. Meanwhile, I can't get into the rear of the vehicle. We bought a pre-owned Nissan Armada 2004 model last July 2007. For the past year and a half, everything was good and we enjoyed the spacious ride of our Nissan Armada especially when we go on long road trips. A few months ago, all these lights on the dashboard were lit - brakes, slip, vdf, etc. and even the speedometer or rpm were on zero even if the vehicle was running. The Armada would just suddenly brake or it makes a loud thump sound which seems to come from the brakes or the transmission. The shifting of the gears then becomes off. This happened several times and what we do is stop and wait for a few minutes then restart again. Sometimes the Armada will start but sometimes it will take a few days for it to restart. We had brought this to Nissan a couple of times and they said that there was nothing wrong. They will be able to tell only if there is something wrong if they see all these lights lit up otherwise, they don't see anything wrong. It happens randomly and so when are we suppose to take it to Nissan? We can't really tell. Last July, we went to Niagara Falls - Canada side - and took the Armada for the trip. This was the first time that we took in for a road trip that far. On our way back to NJ, it was already getting dark about 9 pm, the signals and all the lights on the dashboard started to light up and the gears were not shifting and was making that loud thump sound again. The kids were getting scared and we were on the highway in the middle of nowhere and it was dark. It was pretty scary because we were running about 60 miles and we could not change lanes to go to the side of the road because the signal lights were not working and there were cars and trucks speeding by. We were also afraid that if we turn off the engine, it might not turn on again. We finally reached a rest area and just decided to turn off the engine and let it rest for a while. It did turn on after a few minutes and just kept driving even if the lights were turning on and off. We manage to arrive home safely but it was scary! A few days after we brought it to Nissan again and they said that it could be the computer/ mother board so they reset it. A few days after they did the resetting, same thing happened. So they suggest to totally change the motherboard and this would cost us $2000! It is not covered with the warranty. My question is: should they consider this a recall? I have read a number of reviews of similar problems. I think this is very dangerous. This can cause lives if the Armada's electronic functions just goes on a haywire while you are running at 60-70 miles. Very dangerous!

On 10/29/06, I purchased a Nissan Armada 2004 with 36,322 miles and a warranty of 100,000 miles. About 3 months ago, I had to take the car to the dealer because it has not power and feels like something was wrong with the fuel. They diagnosed that it was the catalytic converter, so they replaced it. Yesterday (10/2/09), the service engine light turned on. So, I went to the dealer and dropped off the car. After 7 hours, they called to inform that the engine was bad and it is not covered under the warranty because the cause of it was the damaged catalytic converter.

How am I supposed to know that and why, at that time before they fixed the catalytic converter, they didn't perform whatever test was needed to determine that the engine was damaged or not? I'm an owner-operator and struggling right now with two children and am not even able to buy medical insurance for them. I don’t have the money to fix the engine, but what is even worse is to pay $525.00 monthly for a car that is worthless. Without transportation, I cannot go to work and I can't pick up my children from school. If it is something that is my responsibility, I'll face it, but it is not.
