I brought my care in for routine oil change and rotation of tires. Was assured that all would be taken care of in one hour. Left the service center, (at least five technicians were standing around, so they were not that busy).

Upon me coming back to pick up my 2002 Tahoe, I paided the $50.72 charge, went out to my car, and realized that the tires were not rotated although they assured me that they were. I know they were not because my husband marked the left front and left back tires before we dropped the car off for service. When I went back into the center the manager assured me that the tires were rotated.

This leads me to think now that how can I be sure that the oil change($17.95, disposal fee$1.50, and Ever-wear Best additives package $24.95) was actually completed? I have been a loyal customer of this center for over 10 years and never felt this in the past with the past managers. I feel violated as a consumer and mislead by the store manager and technicians. If they did not feel like doing the work, then they should have told me so and I would have taken my business elsewhere.

I used to drive Monday through Friday every day from Lynn to Boston and back with my daughter. I'm a single mother with a 3-year-old. It's winter and hard for her to commute. I brought my car in for an oil change after running errands all morning. The guy told me to leave it and they would call me since my building is diagonal to their building. A few hours later, the man called me and said my axle was broken. He said it would cost me $400 to fix. I said I'll come get my car because they must have broken it and I would pay for the repair. He said I can't drive the car with a broken axle. I told him that it wasn't broken before. He said it broke when the guy got in. That's ridiculous.

I called Midas to come, tow it and repair it. They charged me $28? They guy at Midas (up the street at 555 Lynnway Lynn, MA 01905) told me that it wasn't broken from wear and tear. He said he doesn't know what caused it. I paid for everything and want my money back. My 3-year-old and I now take the MBTA. My parking sticker, though paid for, is now obsolete. This is because now that my car is repaired, it still feels funny when I drive it. It didn't before! So now we just run errands in it. I want to sue their pants off. They wouldn't give me the time of day. They talked to me like I was a child in front of other patrons. I want to sue their pants off!

I took my 1987 Cadillac Deville to Goodyear for state inspection and they claimed it needed about $1,000 worth of work for inspection. They said it needed rear brakes and a wheel cylinder plus other things as well. I had them do most of the work except the brakes because of them saying it needed a wheel cylinder and wanted $268 to install it. I took the car to another repair shop to see if it needed the wheel cylinder and they said no and they would not put it on. This place was Sears at the Galleria Mall in York. Sears did put the new brakes on and I took it back to Goodyear to get my inspection sticker and was told it needed the wheel cylinder and they would not put my sticker on unless it was fixed.

So again, I went to Sears and they did put the wheel cylinder on and told me to call the State Police. I didn't call; I just wanted my car inspected. Well, they put the sticker on and when I got home, my husband said it was the wrong sticker. They were to match it with my registration which was December. They put a November sticker on it and this was in December that it was inspected. A week later, the transmission started to slip. So, I checked the fluid level and it was that low, it didn't show up on the stick. I put transmission fluid in it and it was running good then.

A couple of days later, it started slipping again so I parked it in the garage and drove my other car until I could have it checked. Now, I saw that Goodyear checked the fluid when they inspected it so my husband took a look at it on 1/14/2001 and there was transmission fluid all over the place. He then noticed the lines were dripping. Here the lines were loose at four locations. This car is well maintained and was owned by my husband's brother who actually parked it on white cardboard to make sure there were no leaks. Cottman Transmission on Industrial Highway in York serviced the transmission once a year. The motor was always dry until Goodyear worked on it. The transmission lines were loosened and pulled part way off and transmission fluid is everywhere. Also, there is a vacuum hose that has been cut. You can see it was cut and now my husband can't find where it would go because of it being too short due to being cut.

Goodyear was the last place to service my car and I cannot understand why they would do this to my car. The Cadillac was taken to Grease Monkey two weeks prior to going to Goodyear. I wanted to have it checked to see if it needed a tune up and they said no, the plugs were still good. I took it to them because my husband's brother said it was soon due for a tune up. Grease Monkey on Loucks Road in York does my oil changes and tune-ups. What is so strange, Goodyear did work on my other car which is a 1995 Ford Escort and when I took it to Grease Monkey for an oil change, they said my transmission fluid was leaking but they don't repair transmissions. They said it was a small leak at the seal which to them, with the low mileage on the car, could not figure out how it began to leak. They told me to go to a transmission shop and get it fixed. I called them and asked when they checked the Cadillac for a tune up if they noticed any transmission fluid anywhere and they said it was dry or they would have told me at the time to get it looked at. Please help me in this matter.

On August 5, 2000, I went to The Tire Guys, aka Goodyear, to have shocks and struts installed. When they installed the shocks and struts, they had called me to state that the front sway bar bracket was broken and if I would like for them to replace the bracket. I said yes. They said they replaced the bracket. I paid them $512.00. It cost $48.00 just to replace the bracket. While driving the car, I kept hearing a rattle sound in the front of the car. So I took the car back to The Tire Guys on August 7, 2000 and explained the sound that I heard. I also told them my car was pulling to the left, which it should not be pulling to the left since they also were to align the car. They said the pulling was due to the tires and wanted to know if I wanted to buy new tires. I said no, the tires I have are only 6 months old. They stated that the rattle I was hearing was because their mechanic did not tighten the bolt/screw down enough on the front sway bar and sent me on my way.

On September 23, 2000, while getting new brakes installed, Brakes Express in Norco showed and explained that the bolt/screw for the front sway bar was missing. They said they would try to find a bolt to fit the bar because it should be tightened. It controls the suspension. They were unable to find a bolt to fit. They advised that I should take the car back to The Tire Guys and have them put a bolt on it. On Tuesday, September 26, 2000, I took my car into The Tire Guys and explained the situation. They were very rude and unwilling to accommodate me. They said there was nothing they could do unless I could leave the car for the rest of the day or bring it in tomorrow and leave it for the day. I explained that I did work and that I could not leave my car.

I explained if the job was done correctly the first or even the second time, I would not have to be there at all. They were unwilling to accommodate me. All I want to do is have the bolt replaced and the amount I paid to Redlands Tire Guys refunded. I should not have to take off from work again for their errors.

Goodyear Corporation has responded to a consumer class action lawsuit by saying consumers don't have a private right to sue for reimbursement in the case. The class action suit was recently filed in the state of New York against Goodyear Auto Service Centers. It is based upon Goodyear's practice of charging a $1.00 used oil 'disposal fee' to customers who bring their cars into Goodyear for an oil change.

Goodyear's 'disposal fee' is explicitly prohibited by the New York Environmental Conservation Laws.

In a recent motion to dismiss the lawsuit, Goodyear concedes that it charged the fee, but argues that consumers have no private right to sue for reimbursement of the illegal fees Goodyear has collected.
