The experience with a fully loaded GMC Yukon Denali has been nothing short of agonizing. It is disheartening to witness the lack of initiative, understanding, and competency exhibited by the individuals responsible for customer care at GMC headquarters. Despite investing $100k in this vehicle, the engine unexpectedly broke down just under a year after purchase, leaving my business partner stranded in the middle of heavy traffic on a Los Angeles freeway. Astonishingly, there were no warning signs whatsoever—no illuminated dashboard lights or engine indicators. It simply ceased to function.
Upon having the vehicle towed to the GMC dealer, we endured a week-long wait before being notified that the engine failure was caused by disintegrated metal pieces. Although the repair fell under warranty, GMC failed to provide any form of accommodation during the month-long replacement process. We were left without a replacement vehicle, a rental car, or even a courtesy ride to and from the dealer.
GMC has finally accepted responsibility for the faulty manufacturing of the engine. However, obtaining the necessary reimbursements has been a painstakingly drawn-out process. They have demanded an extensive array of documents, ranging from commercial lease agreements and rental receipts to bank statements showcasing the vehicle identification number (VIN) on payment transactions. This bureaucratic maze has unduly delayed the reimbursement process, while we continue to suffer the consequences.
The financial toll resulting from this ordeal is staggering, amounting to nearly $24k in damages. This includes exorbitant rental car costs of approximately $4045 for a similar commercial vehicle, lease payments of $1786, a significant loss of business amounting to $13,500, and countless hours—spanning over two months—spent on phone calls, document gathering, and visits to the dealer.
This review serves as a warning to anyone considering the purchase of another GMC vehicle. The incompetence demonstrated by GMC corporate employees, coupled with the arduous and disheartening experience we have endured, highlights the importance of steering clear of such substandard products and the lackluster support offered by the company. Your hard-earned money and peace of mind deserve far better than the disappointing reality of owning a piece of GMC junk.

This car looks nice but has a lot of similar issues with other reviewers. Purchased this 2015 black Yukon Denali with 45K miles. In 3 years we’ve had to fix/replace $3000 worth of repairs for the following:
- Faulty brake compressor on front brakes causes brake locking when stopping - $700 replacement with some recall coverage.
- Transmission flush due to stuttering - $500.
- Passenger seat belt buckle lock broke- $300.
- Plastic next to driver windows becomes lose and flaps above 55mph- fixed with Gorilla Glue every few months. Quote is $800 for both sides.
- Paint on hood is fading/cracking.

I now own my 4th Yukon Denali. I have decided this is my LAST! 2007, 2013, 2015, 2017. Hindsight, the 2007 was my favorite and I have never reached 100,000 miles on any of them! Yes, the technology is more each year, but not necessarily better. I have had everything from broken, cheaply made door handles, panels falling off for no reason, blurry heads-up display screen, to a jumping transmission. You would think with the drastically increasing prices of these vehicles that the engineers designing them would improve the things that current owners have complained to service providers about and document on the warranty, but it seems they don’t change anything with the newer models! They just change the appearance and make things a bit more eye appealing with technology. The transmission in my 2017 model is the straw that breaks the camel’s back for me! DONE with GMC!

Have owned my 2017 Yukon Denali for about 2 years. Was my dream car and was excited to buy it (Was not cheap). Come to find the worst choice I ever made, endless issues with the Transmission which the dealership says is normal, Shaking issues on highway which I had diagnosed by dealership, they said it was my tires so I replaced them with factory recommended, and same issues with shaking. Took back to dealership and now they say it is my shocks. I have not even hit 60000 miles yet. It has been in the shop at least two months of my ownership. I have a Toyota 4 Runner which never has had issues and a Nissan Xterra that is 230000 miles in with no issues. I believe if you maintain a car well, they last forever, but I guess I had high hopes for my first American Truck. If not resolved by the dealership soon, I am going to take my losses, and go back to quality vehicles.

I purchased a 2018 Yukon XL Denali in May 2018. In less than 18 months I have corrosion spots on my plastic grill and other trim pieces. When I took it in to my Dealer (King Chevrolet, Buick, GMC in Longmont Co). The service manager said that is caused by the Mag Chloride on the roads and they will not cover it. I explained that this should not happen after only 18 months. I also explained that this is an $80K vehicle and I expect a better product than this. After getting nowhere with the dealership I tried calling the GM customer helpline. This is a waste of time as all they do is play a go between me and the dealership.
The warranty is very clear that any corrosion problems are covered while in the 3yr bumper to bumper warranty. I have also filed a formal complaint with GMC and 3 months later I still have not heard from them either. I thought that buying a GMC Denali would be like buying a Cadillac. Boy was I wrong. I will never purchase another GM product again.

Just purchased 2016 GMC Yukon Denali 67k miles. 2 days after purchasing notice the hard shift into first and second gear. Terribly rough ride. Get up to 60 mph shaking and shudder like rumble strips. Rough idle. Took into dealer. We are still under 30 day warranty. They replaced the transmission temp sender to fix the hard shift. To fix the shudder they replaced the control valve on the transmission. They replaced transmission fluid to help with both. Lowered tire pressure to address rough ride (husband already did that and it didn’t help).
Told us rough idle was normal and this vehicle has “loopy idle” and this is normal. Husband could see caked on dirt residue from leaking both rear shocks. Dealer says shocks not leaking and nothing to do with our rough ride complaint. Now on a 1200 mile road trip and hoping to get back home because all shaking etc still evident and then trading it in ASAP. Never a gmc again. (We had a ‘03 Yukon XL for 17 years and it was a great vehicle.)

First of all I want to say that this is a magnificent vehicle! Bold, Beautiful, and state of the art technology. My disappointment comes from the fact that, despite the impressive size of the SUV, the width of the front doors is much less than they were on older models and the width of the bucket seats is more narrow. I am 6'4" 210 lbs and I ordered a new Denali with all the bells and whistles that I wanted, all the time thinking this big boy would be accessible to me. Well, it's not! I have to back into the seat, then spin around to drive. When I position the seat for driving, my left shoulder is rubbing the area behind the door.
The door on this "large SUV" is so narrow I have to maneuver myself to exit the door. I almost feel claustrophobic! The bucket seats are so narrow my hips and my legs are fixed on the raised outer area of the seat! Again, Why? there is a massive center console with far more space than anyone would ever need, and yet GMC chose that over comfortable seats!
Look, I could understand if this were a compact or even a Sport vehicle. But it is a Large Sport Utility Vehicle! One should expect it to be spacious! But I can access my wife's 500SL better than I can my Denali! I paid $75K for a big vehicle only to find Hobbit sized doors and seats! Hey GMC engineers! Go back to the drawing board, dig out the specs from the 2000s and correct this fatal flaw!

I recently purchased a 2016 Yukon Denali with 25,000 miles on it. Bought extended warranty to make sure I was covered. The sales man told me that the owner smoked but not in the car. The car had 1 owner and bought from this GMC dealership so they "knew him". I have a new born and a 6 year old and I'm a non smoker. They guaranteed me the smell would come out. Lie. I bought all kinds of air purifiers etc and it still smells like smoke. This should have been my first clue that this dealership was not to be trusted.
Then the horrible shaking started at 80. It's so bad that my daughter threw up after a long road trip. The dealership is now telling me that I have to buy all new tires in order for the shaking to stop. My tires are new. It's all a run around. I have been up there more than 5 times for this shaking and they are telling me it's a balancing issue. My tires were balanced with one of their fancy balancing machines and it still shakes. My next call is to an attorney. I do not have peace of mind driving my family around in this death trap.

Very nice vehicle. Has been very reliable and affordable. It is a 2007 Yukon with 150k miles. I have only had to do routine maintenance and low cost repairs so far. I would hop in and drive anywhere in it.

I have a 2015 Onyx Black GMC Yukon that I purchased brand new for $60K. Now 4 yrs old and 66K miles my hood and roof are fading away through the clear coat. Been back and forth from the dealership (Brickell Motors) to the GMC customer service with no help from either side and each one blamed the other. I've seen a lot of these black SUVs with the same problems. Surburbans, Yukons, Tahoes, etc. I also took it to 2 body shops and there said it’s a paint defect from the factory. There has to be some sort of recall on this paint problem.

I have owned 6 Suburban/Yukon SUV's over the past 20 years. I have ALWAYS LOVED my trucks, UNTIL 2015. Mt 2015 Suburban LTZ ($76,000) was an absolute piece of junk!!! Transmission problems, air conditioner problems, and the suspension COMPLETELY failed. NONE of these issues were covered by GM as they were over the 36,000 mile warranty. I traded it in for a brand new 2018 Yukon XL Denali 4x4 (lost my butt because they knew it was garbage), and now I pay $998 a month for a vehicle that I cannot drive without having a migraine. Keep in mind that in 45 years I have NEVER had headaches. Now I am having to be treated with prescription meds to help control the headaches.
My vehicle has a vibration that at take off, 40-50mph, and 60-70mph. While we are at it, lets not forget the shuttering when it is in V4. They have balanced the rear driveshaft and replaced something on the exhaust, both of which did absolutely NOTHING to help the problem. I have always been a LOYAL customer, but this is absolutely it for me! GM could care less that I sacrifice to be able to afford such a truck and now have debilitating migraines as a result of the vibration and shuttering. The service technician even tried to initially pretend that he didn't hear anything. After I made him so mad that he was shaking, he admitted that they know about the problem but do not have a fix for it. GM no longer makes quality vehicles, nor do they stand behind anything they make.

It's like I'm driving a 12-year old BMW, not a 3-year old Yukon Denali. Twice, I've had to pay to replace faulty electrical wiring to the dashboard and sunroof. $900+ each time. The latch broke on the center storage compartment. Rather than a $50 fix, I have to replace the whole lid for $700+ bucks. An LED light burned out on the rear light. Is it a $30 fix? Nope! A $731 replacement of the whole assembly. Someone smashed my driver side mirror. $950+ replacement. The is the FIRST and LAST GMC I will EVER buy. EVER.

Purchased 2016 Yukon Denali back in June and wish I hadn't. The first complaint was the rough ride and all they did was rebalance the tires...still rode rough. Took it back again and they changed the transmission fluid due to vibration. Still riding rough, this time after having the SUV for 3 mths it seems that the magnetic ride control for the front is stuck and rear is leaking. They don't want to cover even though it was the was the first complaint I had. I guess they wanted to wait till the 30 day warranty was expired and they are considered like your breaks as a wear item and is not covered with my extended warranty. They offered to help but I feel that if you want to help, you can take care of the entire bill. This will be my first and last GMC and that dealership.

I purchased a used 2015 Denali in July 2018 with 70K miles. This was my dream vehicle and took months to find one with the exact interior/exterior color I was looking for, so when the dealer called and told me he found "The One" I couldn't have been more excited!! Then I drove it off the lot. 3 days after I purchased the vehicle the shocks on the right side were broke and had to be replaced. 2 months later, the radiator was leaking fluid causing the vehicle to run hot so the radiator replaced. A few months later, fuel injectors replaced due to major jerks in the vehicle when accelerating (diagnostics called it misfires). Next, left side brake light went out, $800 to replace. A few weeks later, in the shop AGAIN due to the car shaking when accelerating at 20-50 mph and feeling like I was driving over rumble strips constantly. Transmission flushed and told it was fixed.
9/10/2019 (97k miles) - Back in the shop because the flush didn't work and transmission is still shaking and getting worse. It's the most uncomfortable ride, it feels like my seat is on vibration mode. It shakes so bad. Oh, and now the RIGHT side brake light is not working so I'll guess we'll go ahead and knock that out while we're there. :) Prior to purchasing the GMC Denali I owned 2 Toyota 4Runners (2009 & 2014) and a Toyota Camry (2013) and NEVER had to take them to the shop for anything other than routine maintenance. I've only had this vehicle a year and it's been in the shop at least 7 times. I will NEVER purchase another GMC. It's been one thing after another and I have to pay $750/month to drive the piece of crap! Plus repair costs!

This is the worst vehicle I have ever owned. Within 6 months of owning our 2016 GMC Denali, malfunctions began. Now at less than 3 years old and 60k miles, the following has occurred: Transmission failure twice, overall electrical malfunction including display illumination failure, audio/entertainment system glitches (radio volume getting stuck randomly on highest volume setting), tail light malfunction, and now the motor to the sunroof has died. The transmission is defective (second time) and the A/C had to be repaired at year 1, then completely died last year. These are all problems that we are having to pay for repairs on because GM says we should have purchased the extended warranty for. We did not expect to need an "extended warranty" for failures like this on a vehicle 3 years old and purchased at $70k+. I do not recommend this vehicle!!

I paid 75k for a brand new vehicle, off the showroom floor. I thought This would be the last vehicle I ever Buy. Since I purchased This vehicle I have Taken it in multiple times due to the ticking noises when accelerating, even took a video of it. I have The right side volume controls stop working off and on and not registering any devices such as phone, music etc. My back seats shake, you can hear them and see them vibrating through rear view mirror. When driving 65 or higher in speed, it feels so rough in the front as though every road is very bumpy or rough. Of course you take it in and they find nothing wrong with vehicle and make you feel as though you are going crazy!
I’m only wanting to be able to enjoy this vehicle especially knowing how much I paid For it. These problems were not there when I first Purchased it and now I have Driven 15k miles and things are happening. This vehicle is a dream when running properly with no issues. Smooth and quiet and really the luxury experience. I drove a Infiniti and Jaguar prior and this has really been a new experience with luxury. If anyone else has experienced any of this or has solutions please share.

Realizing GMC Yukon Denalis are a rich man's vehicle but not wanting to let go of the dream, we purchased a gently used 2016 GMC Yukon XL Denali. This was not a spontaneous purchase but a seriously researched decision after 2 years. My husband was totally against it after reading reviews but relented finally. We purchased with 59500 miles and no extended warranty. Stupid? Yes. But we have money in savings. Turns out we’ve needed that money. 2 months after purchased GPS goes out. Antenna shorted out due to water leakage. A known GMC problem with plenty of technical service bulletins but no GM recall. Has to pay $463 out of pocket for repair.
Prior owner garage kept vehicle. 4 months into purchase it’s in shop due to transmission shudder that rattles entire vehicle, especially at speed of 30mph and 65mph. RPM gauge jumps with shudder. Vehicle now has 62500 miles and is not covered because coverage ended at 60000 miles. Another known GM problem with a technical service bulletin but again no recall. I have to pay between $350-500 for draining of original transmission fluid and it’s replacement with a different kind that doesn’t attract water, which is the cause of shudder. They cannot assure me it will fix it but has in other cases 95% of time. The other unlucky 5% had to have a new transmission! Still, no financial assistance from GM for known problem.
Dealerships service foreman said GMC fix was to quit putting in 8 speeds and now producing with 10 speeds. I’m so disappointed. I convinced my husband to make this purchase on good faith. We work hard for the money we make and try to make good purchases. Now we may have to trade this vehicle taking a loss because a multibillion dollar company has forgotten what doing the right thing means.

I’ve had plenty of issues with my 2015 Yukon Denali. The list goes on and on. If it’s not one thing it’s another! Allow me to indulge a little. Both pillars on each door are broken and look like they are going to fly off any moment. The valve springs keep breaking, shocks are junk, the DVD player in the back has already broke and now there is something else wrong with it. We have yet to hear back from the mechanic but was told it could possibly be a 3,000$ issue! Long story short I’m trading it in and never buying one again! Fun fact I’ve got a Acura MDX with 280k and two 4 runners well over 200k and none of which have had this amount of issues EVER!

I purchased a 2015 Yukon Denali in late 2015. Over the course of two years, I experienced my rear seats shaking, the booming noise inside the cabin, clicking in my steering column, feeling like I was hit from behind when I applied the brakes, glitches in the infotainment system and a noise under the front left of the SUV that couldn’t be identified. I loved the SUV, but hated the problems. The car had less than 20k miles when the dealer convinced me to trade my ‘15 in for an ‘18 in a great deal. That was December 2017. He swore I would love the 2018. It’s been a year now and I love everything about my ‘18 Denali. It drives like a dream. This is the SUV I thought I was buying three years ago.

The shocks/struts randomly started to go out on $80K 2015 Yukon Denali (56K miles) & my local authorized dealership said the issue was not covered at any cost/percent. Upon a searching the internet, it appears to be a widespread issue with several GM/GMC makes/models and class action lawsuits are popping up or are currently being filed. This is extremely dangerous and I am shocked that this is not covered.
I am outside my warranty now and the GMC agent did not agree with the claim that it's an known or common issue. Even our repairman said that the wheels were too heavy for the shocks which has now been fixed on newer models. My claim was denied by GM and I'm out of pocket almost $3.5k for repairs on my $80k, relative new vehicle. We are super disappointed & questioning our dedication to the GM/GMC brand - the only vehicle make we have driven in the last 15 -10 years - hoping someone can help explain this situation and provide a better resolution to make us all happy.

This 2018 Denali has annoying throttle lag and on two occasions when braking the engine has maintained its rpms forcing me to brake hard and shift into neutral. It is the second GMC product I have ever owned and came with a leaking front windshield and a rattling second row bucket seat. Doesn’t appear GMC has any quality control. BTW the first one I owned over 20 years ago came with a rear hatch door leaking gasket, I ended up with a soaking wet interior. Will be my last GMC purchase!

Approximately a year ago, I had to replace the condenser in my vehicle. Just recently while I was driving the vehicle stalled out in traffic. It was towed to GMC, and the service tech said my valve spring was broken, and the lift was not functioning properly. They further stated they had to fix the head in the engine. I am afraid that if GM doesn't fix the root cause, I'll be in the same predicament later. I'll be trading my car in soon.

I like the the size, look, and comfort of the vehicle. I grew up with a similar vehicle so it made me want one after I was on my own. The overall experience of this car is amazing! My car is a few years old but I've only had minor car work done and the parts isn't outrageous like other models. I also love that it has a sunroof, leather seats, tv system, all of the seats are easy to get out, very roomy especially when you have toddlers and car seats, also heated seats and backup indicator. Not only did it have all of the main things I wanted in a car it is better made and the parts are a higher grade for not a lot of money. I am completely satisfied with my purchase for the price. I'm always informed about recalls, had more leg room in each row than 95% of the other SUVs we looked at. But no electric break control, lights has a film over it, has no touch screen radio, cheap stock breaks. Sometimes the main back seats if you lay them down they won't come back up. I hate the fact that the back windows doesn't go all the way down and can't be rolled up from the back.
