I had a head on collision with an older Ford 150 truck. I was driving a Ford Sport Trac 2005. There is major damage to my truck. The whole front end is a right off. I was driving 60kms straight down a major city road. The impact was dead on straight to my truck; no air bags went off. I have worries about if I were to get into another accident driving a Ford, if I may be driving a highway and have a head on collision, will the airbag deploy?

I was driving in my 2002 Ford Explorer XLT on the highway and someone ran me off the road. My SUV went off the cliff, crashed head on, and flipped six times. The airbags did not deploy. My SUV was totaled. My back was broken and I had serious head trauma. I had to be airlifted by helicopter to the hospital due to the seriousness of my injuries. I had to have complete reconstructive back surgery.

My back was crushed so severely. The doctors had to cut me open in the front just to get the crushed bones out. Because they feared that if they took the bones out from the back side, they would shatter, fall into my spinal cord, and leave me paralyzed. They then had to flip me open, cut me open again on the back, and build me a back out of alloy implants and pins surrounded by a cage for support. I then had to go to rehab before I could be discharged to go home. I had no medical insurance because I couldn't afford it, so now I’m left with $300,000 worth of medical bills. Ford won't even so much as return a phone call. Every time I call, they say someone will return my call. They never have. I still continue to call.

The vehicle was travelling faster than it was supposed to going around a curve. The driver swerved to keep from hitting an animal. The passenger tire got caught between the soft sand and the asphalt when the car tried to get back onto the road, causing it to flip over when the driver tried to get back on the road. The passenger door popped opened. The seat belt did not restrain the passenger, and only 1 of 6 airbags deployed... the side curtain on the driver's side, not the steering wheel's.

My 16-year old son lost his life due to massive head trauma. The driver was severely injured, lived, but still have more surgeries to go. The driver will not be able to work for at least 2 years, and nothing can compensate for the loss of life especially a 16-year old. I understand the accident was the driver's fault. However, this vehicle was purchased because it was supposed to be safe, and I feel that it did not do what it was supposed to do under the circumstance. Why is there a handrail in the front of the vehicle instead of the side... that handrail did a lot of damage.

I was involved in an accident on 7/11/05. I was stopped at a light and a guy slammed into me. He was (an eye witness reported) going well over 70 and slammed on his brakes at the last minute. I was driving a 2004 Sport Trac; the back got slammed in and the front is about crushed. No airbags deployed; if they had I might have fared better. Trying to get information on the airbags is near impossible, I am learning. I did find out that the vehicle has to be going about 15 mph. So although the impact was great, they did not deploy. Can someone tell me the safety of this because I can't figure it out?

On January 15th my wife had returned from a short trip from the grocery store in our 1999 Ford Expedition. She had been home for about 45 minutes when I noticed the smell of smoke. I looked out the door to the garage and saw flames coming out from under the hood near the windshield. I quickly took the keys and tried to crank it to get it out of the garage and away from the house. Fortunately it did crank and I was able to get down the driveway about 40 feet.
I tried to put the fire out with a fire extinquisher but it was too far along. The fire department arrived and put the fire out but the vehicle was a total loss. Back in the garage, I noticed a puddle of brake fluid from the hole burned into the master cylinder. I have no doubt that this fire was a result of the cruise control de-activation switch. Our cruise control had stopped working about 4 or 5 months ago. I called the Ford dealer where I purchased from and they had no idea what I was talking about.

Two days later Ford announces the recall which does not include any Expeditions but the 2000 model. I'm sure this problem is in all the early model Expeditions (1997 thru 2002). I feel very lucky that I caught mine in time to save my house and family.

I was traveling in my Ford Explorer behind a cement truck when he slammed on brakes. I was only going about 15-20 mph and hit the back of the truck. The impact was enough to damage the whole front end, crack the frame and ultimately cause the insurance company to total the car. The police officer and several mechanics looked at the car and were shocked that the airbags did not deploy. The car was severely damaged. I was severely bruised and had muscle pain from the accident and sought medical attention.

I parked my roommate's 1998 Ford Explorer in the driveway. The car had been running perfectly fine. About five hours later, a neighbor rang the doorbell and when I looked outside, the Explorer was on fire! Fortunately I was able to put out the fire with a hose (probably a stupid idea to get near the car considering the battery exploded...let alone the fuel line housed in the engine compartment), the fire truck arrived and doused the car but it was already totaled.

The car is a total loss. The engine is completely fried, and the "security latch" that is supposed to undo the hood latch didn't work, so the firemen had to pry open the hood with a crowbar...mangling the hood. My roommate now has no vehicle.

I was traveling approx. 60 mph in my 2002 Ford Explorer when a car pulled out in front of me. I slammed on my brakes but struck the vehicle at an unknown speed, EMS estimated 40 mph. My vehicle sustained $6,600+ in damage to the front end. Neither the driver nor the passenger side airbag deployed. The EMS driver said it was typical of a Ford. The EMS driver and the wrecker driver said given the damage to my vehicle, both airbags should have deployed.

$6,600+ damage to my vehicle. I have neck and low back injuries. MRIs revealed 2 bulging disc in my neck and 2 in my low back. My 15-year old daughter was in the passenger seat and sustained injuries to her right shoulder. An arthrogram is scheduled later this month to determine what is causing her pain and limited range of motion. I have been trying to research the internet to find information on airbags that failed to deploy in other Ford Explorers but have not had any luck.

I was involved in a car accident (2000 Ford Explorer Sport) where I hit the driver side back end of the car (speed 35 mph). The hit caused the car to flip three times sliding into a fire hydrant. The end result was the car was on the hood and I was upside down but none of the airbags were released. During the months of Aug-Sept 2003, Ford had a recall on Explorers. People keep saying that I should file a complaint because the airbags did not release. Also, since the part that was on recall had something to do with the ability to brake and I could not take my car into the dealer to check for the recall part (the accident had occurred 11/15/2002), I just wonder if there is reason for me to file a complaint or what to do about the situation if anything.

On July 24, 2000 I was on my way to work at Northern Kentucky University where I have been employed for 11 years in my 1996 Ford Explorer. The Saturday before I had the front tires replaced at Sam's Club in Florence, Kentucky. They were Goodyear tires. I also had my oil changed every three months at QuikStop in Florence, Kentucky.

It was around 8:20 a.m. I noticed I was losing power because a semi truck was really pushing me. I pulled over to the side of the road. At this point, my truck had a little bit of smoke under the hood. I got out of the car and took my cellular phone. I called my office to let them know I would be late and also asked Shirley to call the local fire department.

Other people from NKU stopped to assist me, but while I was on the phone the Explorer was breaking into flames, starting from the driver's side underneath. The NKU photographer and his wife were on their way to work and stopped to help me. Joe Ruh had his camera and shot several photos of the fire. It was a major fire. The Explorer was destroyed.

When I called Airport Ford in Florence, Kentucky and spoke to Arlene, she stated that Sam's Club probably did something to my car on Saturday when the tires were changed. Since this was a leased vehicle Safeco paid off Huntington Bank and stated to me that the cause of the fire could not be determined. All the firefighters I have talked to tell me every fire has a starting point.

I would love to share my photos on the web so others driving Ford vehicles will not be hurt. If I had stayed in the vehicle I would be dead. No one wants to reimburse me for my new tires. Airport Ford has dropped me as a customer after eight years and three Ford vechicles. I am very disappointed in how I was treated.

I am very thankful I got out of the car but the next person might not be that lucky.

Bought a new 2001 Ford Explorer Sports Trac in November 2000. Truck has a rattle/vibration at 1500 rpm and a whistle in the air intake at 2300 rpm. The dealer (Goodbrothers Ford, Randolph MA) tried omn two occasions to fix the problem. Their master technician "Tony" went for a test drive with me and confirmed that, yes indeed, I did have a problem with the vibration and whistle. He consulted with Ford to find an answer. Ford made some recommendations, which Tony implemented. However they did not solve the problem.

I then asked the dealer to contract the Ford rep to have them come out and inspect the vehicle. This is where my trouble began. Mr. Christianson came out and test drove my truck with Tony, I had been instructed to leave the truck for the day since they did not know exactly when the Rep would be coming in. I received a phone call from Kevin around 3:00 that afternoon. He told me that my problems with my truck were no worse than others he had driven and that there was nothing wrong with my truck that was safety-related so he was going to do nothing. When I explained that maybe he did not hear or feel the exact problems I was having and that it would be beneficial if we could meet and have him drive with me, his responce was rude. Anyways his job is to support the dealer, not the customer so Ford will do nothing to fix my truck.
When I asked if there was somebody else I could talk to about it, his response was, "No, I am the final word. Call Ford's 800 number if you don't like it." Of course Ford's 800 number is a joke. All it is is a glorified answering service. They take your call and e-mail your complaint to somebody. You may or my not get a response from them. Period no further action is allowed. I asked to be called back. Guess what, NO call back, no response from anybody at Ford. And at this point I have no other venue available to be to get Ford to even have a real person call me. I realize that the vibrations and noises I have aren't life-threatening, but after spending of $25,000 for a vehicle it would be nice to get some tiny measure of customer service.
I drive over 50 miles everyday to and from work. I have to deal with the vibration everyday. It is very depressing to know that for the next 5 years, until the truck is paid off, I am stuck listening to these noises. I am embarrassed to have anybody drive with me, the first thing people ask is, "What is that noise?" I just tell them, "Don't buy a Ford"

We bought our 1997 Ford Explorer Sport new off the lot. It came from the factory with 16" tires. After the recent publicity about Firestone tires, we decided to check ours to see if they were being recalled. When we looked at the spare, we discovered that it is only 15". We have made several requests to Ford Motor Company to do something about it, since our owner's manual said the spare(if equipped with a conventional spare as ours was) would be the same as the other four tires. Ford tells us a 16" spare would have been another option, and that you can't take literally what is in the owner's manual. I think they have taken advantage of us. Our vehicle only has 25,000 miles on it.

We thought we had a spare that we could use as a regular tire as stated in our owner's manual, but we have been told we could do damage to the vehicle by driving it with two different size tires at the same time.

The problem steadily has gotten worse where the problem almost occurs everytime you acceleate. I have had the computer replaced and re-programmed at least 5 or 7 times. The problem is still not fixed.

The dealership says they are working with a Ford engineer to fix the problem. An engineer within Ford Motors was contacted, and he does not have a solution to the problem. For the past year, Ford tells me just to work with the service department to get it fixed, but they don't know how to fix the problem. When you contact the head cheese at Ford, they do not know how to fix it, and just say to work with the service department.

I am frustrated beyond. I have this vehicle I pay for every month, and the fact that it is broken and cannot be fixed, and I am just to live with the problem, aggravates me even more.

I have a green Ford Explorer that has had a paint peeling problem. Two times over the last few years, January 1996 and December 1997, I have had to have my roof repainted. With some difficulty of course. In 1996, I had to pay $85.00 of my own money due to proration. The problem began again in 1997. This time the paint is peeling off the hood of the car. It seems to always be on the top surfaces. I was told by a Ford representative that it was out of warranty and they could not help me. The body shop service mgr. quoted a price of $300 to repair the hood. He said he would fix it if approval was given by Ford Motor Company.

I took my 1997 Explorer in to a Ford dealership because it had a jammed gas cap. They put the truck on the diagnostic computer (as a matter of course, I guess); the readout was that the truck needed gaskets. I denied to have the work done because I was not having any problems with the truck. They said that the truck was at the approximate mileag where it would need the work. Again, I declined.

The day after taking the truck home, I started having problems with starting and hesitation. I took the truck back to the same dealership. Again, they said that I needed the gaskets, and now, a battery as well. I had them do the work because I was going to be driving to S. California to visit my family for the holidays (400 mile trip). I had trouble with the truck en route and had to stop several times.

When I got to S. California I took the truck to the dealership where I purchased it. They put the truck on the diagnostic computer and it revealed that I needed gaskets, the same ones that I just paid to have replaced; my husband told them that that was not possible because I had just had the work done. The mechanic, thinking that we were insinuating that he was a liar, took my husband to the truck and showed him that the truck engine had never been taken apart, that the gaskets were the original ones, which have been discovered to be faulty and the design has since changed. The mechanic said that those gaskets had been on the truck since 'day one.'

We went ahead and authorized the work to be done, but asked for the old gaskets to be given to us. Once they replaced the gaskets they told us that they also had to replace the tensioners, because the old ones could not go back on once they had been removed. So, we had them do that as well. According to them the new tensioners started eating up the engine, they put in a another set, and they ate up the engine as well. They said that as a result, the truck would need a new engine. Originally, they wanted us to pay for the new engine in full, but we said, "no way."

After some time of letting the truck just sit there, they offered to sell us a warranty and back date it. So we bought the warranty for $495 and the engine was replaced. However, we still had to pay for other things that brought the bill to approximately $1,400. I have since asked the dealership in S. California to sign an affidavit claiming that when they received the truck, the gasket work had not been done, and they declined. The credit card company needs the affidavit in order to process the dispute for the charges from the first dealership.

I imagine that collusion will take place and I'm going to get stuck paying for work that was never done, although I have two receipts for the exact same work using the exact same part numbers.

These are pretty serious charges. Beatriz could contact the District Attorney's Office in the county where the first dealership supposedly did the work. She can also sue the first dealership in Small Claims Court to recover the charges for the bogus repair.

There is one little problem, though. That back-dated warranty constitutes fraud -- both by the dealership and by Beatriz and her husband. All parties involved might want to re-think the way they conduct themselves.

I have a new 1999 Ford Explorer XLT, less than

four months old. From day one, the windshield wipers have not functioned properly. I have had the truck in for service three times over the past three months. Last night I was trapped in my car with my three year old child on the side of a major highway for an extended period of time during a violent rain and thunderstorm because the wipers - both front and rear - stopped working.

I am getting the run-around from Ford Customer Service. I have been waiting over three weeks for the part necessary to correct this

problem, and am now being told that the part is on back order because there are more than

6,000 requests in for the same part. This means that more than 6,000 drivers are at risk for accident or injury if the wipers malfunction in the rain.

I am still without functioning wipers.

I have 3 1999 Ford Explorers. Each one of them has the same problem -- the windshield wipers

    do not work properly.

When I received the recall notices for the cruise

control and the hood latch repairs, I scheduled to have my vehicles repaired by making a

reservation for each of them. I have now been to the dealership to have the warranty

recall work repairs completed but continue to get the run around on the windshield wiper

    problems.

Because of the workload at the dealership where I purchased these vehicles, it is necessary for me to make a reservation to bring the

vehicles in and the earliest that I have received a reservation has been three weeks.

On July 22nd, three weeks after I made a reservation to get my windshield wipers repaired, I arrived at the dealership at 7:30 AM. After waiting for almost an hour, I was informed that the parts were on order but none were on hand.

I went to the service department cashier and requested another reservation to have the work completed when the part was to come in. I was given a reservation of August 16th and was at the dealership at 7:30 AM with my vehicle.

After argueing with Mr. Leon Childers, who was insistent that I leave the vehicle (I live 20 miles from the dealership), I waited in the

    waiting room.

At about 9 AM, Mr. Childers came to get me from the waiting room and again informed me that the dealership had no parts. He could not tell me when the parts would arrive, or if there was actually a fix for the problem. I have been patient up to this point but having to drive out to the dealership and being told that there are no parts when a simple telephone call would have prevented the trip is unreasonable. My windshield wipers are not working properly, turning on frequently by themselves or not turning on at all.

My wife's vehicle is the same way as is my son's vehicle. I presently have a reservation to bring in my wife's vehicle and a reservation to bring in my son's vehicle. I have traveled 40 miles round trip on 2 separate occassions to have this problem resolved. Both trips with reservations to have this problem repaired and both times with no result. I still have 2 other vehicles with the same problem that need to be repaired as well.
