About EasyCare Warranty

EasyCare is a vehicle service contract provider that helps cover certain repair costs after a manufacturer’s warranty expires. Its plans are typically sold through dealerships rather than directly to consumers. Coverage, pricing and overall experience can vary depending on the contract and selling dealer, so it’s important to review the details before purchasing.

Pros
  • Multiple coverage levels available
  • Offers additional vehicle protection products
  • Plans are typically transferable
Cons
  • Customer reviews are mixed, with some complaints about claims and service
  • Quotes are not available online
  • Sample contracts are not readily accessible

Our editor’s take

EasyCare may be worth considering if you are looking for an established provider with a range of vehicle protection products and generally strong industry ratings. However, its plans are typically sold through dealerships, which can make them less accessible than direct-to-consumer options available online.

In some cases, dealership pricing may be higher due to markups or financing structures that bundle the cost of coverage into an auto loan. Comparing quotes from multiple providers can help you find the best value.

What is EasyCare?

EasyCare has been in business for over three decades. As an extended auto warranty provider, it offers a range of vehicle protection and financial products. The company works with dealerships and automotive retail partners to sell its coverage. Available products may include theft protection features such as component etching, appearance protection, tire and wheel coverage and paintless dent repair.

EasyCare also offers RV protection and guaranteed asset protection (GAP) plans for some vehicles. GAP coverage helps protect you from financial loss if your vehicle is declared a total loss and you owe more than its value. Some lenders may require or recommend this coverage, and it’s often offered through dealerships or lenders.

EasyCare availability

EasyCare warranties are primarily sold through dealerships, and eligibility depends on factors such as vehicle age, mileage and condition. Coverage is generally available for qualifying vehicles purchased through participating dealers. EasyCare offers protection for a range of vehicles, including gasoline and electric models, as well as certain trucks, depending on eligibility and modifications.

The company also offers options for some commercial-use vehicles, such as those used in route work or light-duty business operations. However, coverage for certain uses, including rideshare services, taxis, snowplow vehicles and emergency response vehicles, may be excluded or limited depending on the contract.

EasyCare coverage and plans

EasyCare offers multiple warranty plans that range from basic powertrain-level coverage to more comprehensive protection for a wider range of vehicle systems. Some plans also include coverage designed for electric vehicles, though covered components vary by contract.

Like most vehicle service contracts, EasyCare plans have exclusions. These typically include damage caused by accidents or environmental events, aftermarket parts, interior materials such as carpeting and upholstery and wear items like brakes and windshield wipers. Cosmetic issues, including paint, lights, convertible tops and minor noises such as squeaks or rattles, are also commonly excluded.

Certain plans may include coverage for electric vehicle components such as the drive motor, battery-related systems, cooling systems and other high-tech or electrical components. Coverage varies by plan, so it’s important to review the contract for specific details.

EasyCare coverage limits

EasyCare does not provide extensive details about its plans online, and most information is available through participating dealerships. Like other vehicle service contract providers, eligibility is typically based on factors such as vehicle age, mileage and usage.

EasyCare primarily focuses on dealership sales, and coverage is generally purchased through a dealer at the time of vehicle purchase. According to company representatives, a limited number of plans may be available outside of dealership transactions, but availability is more restricted.

EasyCare cost

Because EasyCare warranties are primarily sold through dealerships, it may be difficult to get a quote without contacting a dealer. Some customers have shared their experiences online, reporting prices ranging from about $1,200 for a 5-year/100,000-mile plan to $3,750 for certain vehicles.

These figures are generally in line with industry averages, but dealership pricing can vary. In some cases, costs may be bundled into an auto loan, which can make pricing less transparent. Dealerships may also receive compensation for selling these products, which can increase the buyer’s total cost.

EasyCare does offer plans with zero deductibles, though availability and terms vary by contract, so it’s important to confirm details with a dealer.

EasyCare benefits

EasyCare offers a range of benefits that may be included with its vehicle service contracts. Many plans include features such as roadside assistance, rental car reimbursement and trip interruption coverage, though availability and limits vary by contract.

EasyCare policies

EasyCare warranties are generally transferable, often for a fee of around $50, though the process may need to be completed through EasyCare or the selling dealer. Public information about cancellation is limited, but many contracts allow cancellation within a short period, often around 30 days, for a full refund. After that, refunds are typically prorated based on time or mileage.

Like most vehicle service contracts, EasyCare plans typically do not cover damage caused by theft, environmental events or misuse. Modifications are also commonly excluded, including nonfactory audio or technology components.

FAQ

How does EasyCare work?

EasyCare sells its warranties primarily through dealerships, often at the time of vehicle purchase. Repairs can typically be completed at licensed repair facilities, though some customers choose to return to the selling dealer. Before repairs begin, the repair shop must contact EasyCare for authorization. Once approved, EasyCare will pay the repair facility directly for covered repairs, minus any deductible.

How do I file a claim with EasyCare?

Claims are typically initiated by the repair facility, which must contact EasyCare for authorization before repairs begin. The diagnostic process is important, as coverage depends on whether the issue is included in the contract. Some customer reviews mention denied claims for noncovered repairs.

What does EasyCare not cover?

EasyCare plans have exclusions that vary by contract. Common exclusions include routine maintenance, wear-and-tear items like brake pads and wiper blades, cosmetic damage and issues caused by accidents, environmental factors or misuse. Modifications and aftermarket parts are also typically not covered. Reviewing your contract is the best way to understand what is excluded.

Is EasyCare legit?

EasyCare is a legitimate provider that has been in business for decades. However, customer reviews are mixed, and its dealership-based sales model may make it less accessible than some direct-to-consumer providers. Comparing multiple options can help you determine the best fit.

Can I cancel my EasyCare warranty?

EasyCare warranties can typically be canceled, though the process often depends on the dealership where the plan was purchased. Many contracts allow a full refund within a short window, usually around 30 days. After that, refunds are generally prorated based on time or mileage. You may need to contact the selling dealer or EasyCare directly to start the cancellation process.

2 separate occasions, I needed to use the warranty. The first was on a 2022 Explorer where the front differential grenaded. I had every receipt from the dealer oil changes and whatnot and was denied because one of them said oil pan replacement and didn't specifically list oil change. Ummm, in order to change the pan that hold the oil, the oil has to be drained, but no, they insist that it isn't a good enough excuse. ** Next is a fusion with 60k miles and had a cracked cylinder wall allowing what they call coolant intrusion, which is a problem with pre 2019 ecoboost motora due to a flawed design (which they resolved with a new design in 2019), denied immediately because the cabin air filters werent replaced at the exact mileage recommended by the manufacturer.

Since when does a cabin air filter have anything to do with the motor at all? Took hours to get ahold of someone just for them to be rude to me with a holier than thou attitude. I know the company is equivalent to the major scumbag insurance companies out there that mandate deny deny deny, but use common sense. I actually go out of my way at dealerships and abroad just to tell my experiences with easycareless warranty company so they don't waste their money as I did.

My wife purchased a Honda CRV in May of 2024. She drives 50 minutes to work and back every day, so we figured we would purchase the tire protection through EasyCare just in case life happens. One Saturday morning she was driving and hit something and her tires blew, being that she works in a hospital I did what I could do to get her to work. Saving lives means she has to be at work to do that, so I had her tires replaced that morning at Sam's (closest place I could get that done and get her to work). First off, I had sent many follow-ups emails to ask for updates.

After almost 11 weeks I call and I am told it was denied already, first time I am hearing this. They said since my name was on the Sam's invoice it was denied, proof of my wife's signature on two documents provided initially as well. My name is on the membership so that was a problem, I asked them to review it again as I provided her signature on the invoice they were refuting and also a document that described the entire day's events. Now they have reviewed it and denied it again (in one day and with a separate reason) as I did not take the care to an EasyCare service location, as I stated above and they are fully aware of. My wife works in a hospital attempting to save lives and her tires blew.

Apparently, that is not a good enough reason to not make it to an approved location. I spent $973 on the protection and now another $1000 for her to get all new tires and was expecting the tires to be covered or at least partially covered. I will continue to fight this and will never recommend anyone work with EasyCare. Customer care is horrendous and this has been a nightmare experience, luckily, we are financially in a position where this money does not stop us from being able to put food on the table but for some that may not be the case, and you will see in this story EasyCare could not care less.

Can't in contact with the company. Says my email can't be found and no call are answered. Very poor customer service. Should be able to contact someone with questions on a warranty that I'm paying for in my opinion.

I bought my 2021 Ram 3500 from a Ram dealer in Manvel, TX and was sold the Easy Care maintenance contract. Surprisingly, it covered oil changes, key replacement, brakes, and tires. When I tried to make a tire claim due to a tire separation; they didn't cover it. The oil changes are covered if you go to THAT dealership (mind you I live 170 miles away). My local dealership won't accept it because they have claims rejected on work that should be covered and named in the contract. Do Not Buy These contracts!

I couldn’t be happier with my EasyCare car warranty! I’ve had two claims on my 2017 Kia K900, and both were handled quickly and professionally. The first was for an antenna replacement that cost about $1,100, which they covered without any hassle. More recently, I had a major engine issue that required a full replacement costing $13,500. My out-of-pocket expense was only $108, and EasyCare took care of the rest! The peace of mind this warranty provides is absolutely worth it. EasyCare has truly delivered on their promise, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for reliable coverage and excellent service.

I have a 2019 F150, Easycare denied my claim to repair cam phaser. A known issue. Due to not enough oil change receipts. I changed my own oil to save money. There is no evidence of any kind noticed by mech.
