    Purchased his 1st car, head light stop working. The Cadillac converter goes next costing some more$$$$. So, I just have a regular muffler put on. Then, the motor goes out, the cost for a new motor, toooo much, but got one. The list goes on and on and BELIEVE USA made and wonder why we purchase foreign cars, clothes and should I continue. It's been leaking fluid on the inside and now the transmission has been sticking for so long. Before purchasing and doing regular servicing at GM areas, screwed. But they're not doing recalls.

    I have owned two Monte Carlos. First one 2000, great car; one problem, after 100,000 miles, gauge cluster started acting strange temp fuel and volt gauges eventually stopped working. My 2005 is doing the same thing. I wish Chevrolet would address this problem and it seems that my car is not the only one. Now I am unemployed. Can't take it to get it looked at by a tech so I'm stuck with a car. I have to guess if it's running hot or if I need gas.

    The cluster was replaced 6 mos. ago new. Everything in the dash went haywire. It's doing the same again. Now this time, it starts at time... After I wait about 20 mins, then it might start. GM Corp. you MUST KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. It's very upsetting that you have NOT placed a recall to solve this problem that so many are having with this. Step up and do what's best for the company as well as all of us who put our trust in Gen. Motors... Please!

    I previously owned a 2001 and now own a 2003. I have encountered the same problems with this car. The problems are: replacing the intake gasket, radiator cleaning & replacement, heads replacement on 2001-2003 changed the motor, last week on the 2003 transmission. This is my 3rd car in my life that I have purchased and I have worked for GM/Delphi for 15 years (10 years F/T). I never in my life thought I would regret owning a GM product. This is it! I will never purchase or recommend a GM product in my life. It's like a funeral of some sort. You work for a company and you believe in something so deep until they PROVE you WRONG! It's sad because I still would like to work for my family GM but with this kind of product, it makes you look at other automobile plants. Sad day!

    Leaking on passenger floor is the heater core. Had mine done. They take out the shifter and the whole dash. Now I can't adjust my vents.

    When I bought this car I thought I made a good choice, it was roomy, spacious, but not. Ever since I had this car it’s been nothing but trouble replacing after replacement. First it was the engine I didn't even have for that long. I got that fix, 1200 job. Now it keep overheating. Took it to the car place where I got it from and they fix it but 2 months later, problems. I put in the shop, spent 245. Now everything falling apart. Passenger door can’t unlock from that side. Trunk won’t lock anymore. It just been a bummer so no more money being put into it. It’s time to hang the towel up. Steering wheel broke too. Hope this helps someone - that concerning one lol don’t do it. I’m going Mazda - I had better luck.

    I have a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. I bought it brand new in 2004. The high beam lever will no longer stay in place when trying to use the high beam lights. I took it to a Chevrolet dealership in Cocoa FL and they wanted $600 to replace the mechanism in the steering column just to make the high beam lever stay in place when activated. This is absurd on a car less than 10 years old that has been serviced and maintained by that dealership since it was brand new. The car is immaculate, 1 owner, and always driven by adults in our family. Also on this same car, when you make a right hand turn, a clicking sound comes from underneath the hood. The technician found that the housing to the starter had cracked, and thus billed me $400 to replace the starter on the car.

    My problems with the '03 Monte Carlo was the car would be running and just quit. The security light on the dash would come on and I would have to wait before the car would crank back. I was informed that it was the pass lock security system but in fact, that was not correct. I had to replace the ignition switch housing that wires plug into in the back, which corrected the problem. Hopefully, this will help those who are having the same issue.

    2003 Monte Carlo SS (48,000 ml) - I have read all of the complaints and numerous others on the web having the same problem I am having with the Monte Carlo. The problems started about 3 years ago. At first, the ABS and security lights came on. Then it wouldn't start, we replaced the battery and it started but the lights still stayed on. After a few days, it wouldn't start again. The car could be jumped and would start but when it was shut off, it wouldn't restart. We read online that it may be a passlock problem, so we had a new key made. This did not solve the problem. We also had all the wiring and grounds checked and all were in working order.

    I have brought the car to numerous mechanics, including the dealer, and no one knows for sure what could solve the problem. Eventually, the car would not start at all, and has been sitting in my driveway inoperable for 2 years now. I had hopes Chevy would recognize this problem and have a recall. It's a shame they haven't. In the meantime, I have a car that is useless. It seems to me that this is a typical problem with this vehicle and responsibility should be taken to correct it. Thank you for reading my review and I look forward to moving forward so this issue can be resolved.

    I replaced my third ignition switch cylinder in 2007 and 2011 and now, 2013. The cost is $728.89 each time. There is no recall on the parts. The problem seems to happen every 21 months. I am very angry with them and GM for bad parts.

    Lately, while driving home, when my air conditioning is running, I sometimes feel I am losing power and, last night, my speedometer went to zero and I was going probably 50 mph. I contacted OnStar and everything showed up fine. They suggested I take it in to my dealership, but I can't afford their prices. It looks as though I am not the only person who has had troubles with their 2005 Monte Carlos.

    I have replaced the battery, cables, and starter, and I am still having a problem with the ignition starting. After some research online, it appears to be a common GM problem with the security bypass system. This is frustrating and dangerous when I'm stuck somewhere. It also has shut off while driving on the expressway.

    I've been having many issues with the 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo. I went online to research the issue and found many complaints about the same issues with the same type of vehicle. But there has been no recalls done. Issues are with the security module, pass locks, VATS, lock systems, and ignition switch. Why has there not been any recall for this vehicle, if there have been many complaints on the same issues. Can you ask GM or Chevy to do a recall on these items? Thank you.

    My car won't start. I get the message that says “Service Theft Deterrent Module.” I have a 2007 Chevy Monte Carlo. I did a lot of research about this problem online and it seems that it is a defect on a lot of GM cars.

    I have a 2003 Chevy Monte Carlo. I have spent over $4,000.00 on this car, because of Dex Cool. I cant afford to fix it anymore. I've had the intake gas replaced twice. Then, the radiator, some hose that goes all around the motor, and now, I need a freeze plug. I have no other transportation, nor do I have any money. Please help me! I will lose my job, without a vehicle. Where I live, taking the bus is not an option.

    What a piece of crap the security system is on my 2002 Monte Carlo this is the second time this is giving problems first time repair cost was over $1,000.00 to fix doing the 10 minute key on wait trick every time I need to go to work hey GM. How about doing a recall on this problem as it is time to get a new car, GM will not be my first choice this time.

    I have a 2004 Chevy Monte Carlo. I have owned the car for about one and a half year and have had nothing but major problems with the car. In fact I have sunk more money into repairs in the past year and a half than I have paid on the car! Within the first week, I put new front brakes and rotors on and gave an oil change (no biggie, expected maintenance), but then at two weeks it was the fuel injectors and filter. Then an EGR valve (costing in excess of $500) followed. Then about 6 months later, the car started making this gurgling noise and it’s leaking antifreeze. Turned out to be the exhaust manifold. It needed fixed. It’s a result of the crappy Dex-cool Chevy uses. The Dex-cool actually broke down at less than 100,000 miles and rusted out everything (about $1500 for repair).

    Since then, I have not been able to drive the car for more than 1,000miles at a time without it breaking down. I had to have the same coolant hose replaced twice so far because it keeps popping off and I just paid $211 today to have the heater control module replaced. Besides that, the car continues making the gurgling noise and leaking antifreeze from an unknown place. I cannot even drive it and I definitely cannot afford to keep fixing it. So I am very upset! I have went broke trying to keep up on repairs and I actually had to go to a Buy Here, Pay Here lot and get another car to drive while the most expensive mistake I have ever made sits in my barn wasting space!

    I have a 2002 3.8 Monte Carlo SS. I am currently having problems with my ignition. When I try to start my car all the instruments turn on but the engine does not start. I attempt several times to restart the vehicle, but I still have the same problem. Then I put the car in drive and returned it to park position several times. After about a few minutes the car started. I have been having this problem for awhile.

    I have 2004 Chevy Monte Carlo that I loved the most. But today, June 8, 2010, at 12:45 p.m. after I got back from the car wash and parked my vehicle in the garage and tried to make extra clean in to body and tires, I noticed that some green liquid dropped from the upper front in the passenger side. So, it might be Dexcool problem or something, I don't know. I worked at Ford Dealer and today is my day off, so I will try get my vehicle inspected. I love Chevy products and so does my husband. The mileage is 80,575 miles.

    I have a 2005 Monte Carlo purchased from Pinegar Chevrolet. My head lights and all other light flash from dim to bright. All dash lights dome, and anything pertaining to lights. I have had the car in the shop there on several occasions, they tell me that it is preforming ok that it is normal for the lighting system to perform in that manner. Well, it started doing this 2 years after I bought it, now if this is normal why did it not act this way sooner?

    I have contacted gm in Detroit, but to no avail. I am petrified to drive the car especially at night. The lights seem to do this when a lot of current is put on the motor. Like when I turn on the defroster at high speed, they flash constantly. Pinegars have seen this happening, but can tell me this is normal. I may be a woman, but not a stupid one. I need to know what my next step is. Thank you.

    My 2005 Chevy Monte Carlo's speedometer, while traveling at 55 mph, pegged out at over 100 mph, then would not go below 50 mph. While researching the problem on the Internet, I find that this is a common problem and at least one class action suit has been won against GM. I believe that GM should stand behind their products and replace the speedometer. It will cost over $1,200 to repair the problem that GM has been aware of for years.

    This morning, I started my car (2001 Chevy Monte Carlo) and the security light started flashing. And it disables the engine from starting. Please help me I'm 19, my dad passed away and my mom works. I have no other way to get to school but that car. I have a new born baby brother, that I take car of while my mother works, and has to go to the doctor for everything. So please email/call etc. everyone that owns a car of this model who is having same problems.

    I have a 2001 Monte Carlo, and it is having electrical problems, stemming from the hazard light button. I have researched the problem online, and found that most owners of 2001 Monte Carlos are having the same exact problem. The turn signals work intermittently, because their wiring travels through the hazard button first, and that there is something wrong with it. People, including myself, have brought the problem up to GM mechanics, and they said they can not find the problem, so there must not be anything wrong.

    In November, my turn signals wouldn't work, no matter how much I played with the hazard button. When I got home, I parked it, and went inside my house. When I came out 3 days later to go to work, my car was dead. I took my partner's car to work, since it was a Sunday, and she wasn't going anywhere. The next day, I tried to jump start my car, but it wouldn't hold any juice, and the little juice it did get was used when I took out the keys. Once I had turned the keys to off and taken them out, the car started clicking, and all of the gauges started twitching for no apparent reason. I disconnected the battery, so it wouldn't cause any more damage, and went to look up the problem. It turns out that a whole lot of people have had the same problem with their hazard button, and with killing the battery, with the clicking, and twitching.

    I found out I need to change the hazard button, so I went and ordered one on my next paycheck, $44.66, not a bad price for a GM part, and was told there should be some in the warehouse, and that it should only take as long as shipping takes to get to CA from the east coast. I have waited 3 weeks since I ordered the part, and there still is no ETA on the parts, even getting to the warehouse, and I feel there should be a recall on this issue, considering all that is happening with everyone's car. I just want my car working again. I have to replace the switch myself, because I don't have the money to take it into GM, and I can't get a replacement car or rental for the same money reasons. .

    This is costing us money to have this car broken and sitting in front of our house. All I want is the part, so I can fix my car. I have paid for it, so why can't they deliver? We are thinking I may have to sell this car for whatever we can get, and get a cheap little car, but for sure it won't be GM. The problem is we don't have the money to get a new car, so we are stuck. I am also going to have to buy a new battery, and that will cost me $100, which may mean even longer without a car.

    My family has had to deal with having only one car and one motorcycle for this past month and a half. I am the only one who knows how to ride the motorcycle, and so, when the weather is bad, I have to ride in it, or hope it's a Sunday, and I can take our only other car. I have to ride in rain and fog at 10PM, because of my work schedule. I don't have proper leathers for riding in the winter, so it is very cold riding home. I work 25 miles from home, so its not a short trip. My partner is a hair stylist, so she can alter her schedule, so I can take the car, but it means losing some business and money, because customers can't get the appointment they want. I have had to call off sick, because it was pouring, and I couldn't take the car.

    I purchased a new 2005 Monte Carlo. Car has under 60,000 miles and the transmission is shot. Car is still being paid for to pay off the 4-year loan and now I am looking at $2,000 to fix it. Mechanic says his mom has same car and her trans went at 80,000 miles. It looks like they are building some bad autos. When I bought it new in 2005, it had 3-year 36 thousand miles. Sure GM won't do a thing about this problem but how can they expect us to keep buying from American car companies with products like this? I'm very nervous since we also purchased a new 2008 Silverado. Only good thing there is that at least it has 5 years 100,000 on powertran.

    I have a 1999 Chevrolet Monte Carlo with a intake manifold gasket leak. I have done research on this problem and find out that GM has known about this problem for some time. It seems to me if it is a defect on their part, they should fix it.

    The passlock 2 anti-theft system in my moms 2000 Chevy Monte Carlo is defective.The car stalls without warning,no or hard starts also.We paid $600 for a new computer and we were told by the repair shop that would correct it,but the problem still there.Car still stalls,car still dosent start right away.

    I purchased a new Chevy Monte Carlo SS in Feb. 2006. I brought the vehicle in several times for a computer problem and I'm still having the same problems. Sometimes it says my tires are flat, service engine, service engine and everytime I bring the vehicle in it's fix for no more than a week. Also when it rains ia get a good amount of water on my passenger side floor. I mean my foot is emerged in water to my ankle. I spoke to a man and he claims I've brought the car in for other reasons. I've never had any other problems with the car and I do love it but it's a lemon. I've recently moved and do have all of my receipts but the car dealer has all the info in their computer system. The dealer is Classic Chevrolet in Gurnee Illinois. I've purchased at least 5 vehicles from them and never had a problem. Please respond and help. Thank you very much!

    I own a 2002 Monte Carlo SS. Handheld remote stopped working. Door lock fuses began blowing. Battery died. Replaced battery and fuses many times. Problem persisted. Lights began flashing (interior and exterior). Replaced battery again, then replaced alternator, body control module, and mass air control sensor. Got vehicle back 2 days ago and had to be towed again today as will not start. Something is draining the battery, throwing high voltage, and frying everything under my hood. Mechanics are not trained by GM to troubleshoot and correct. It has cost me over $2000 in the past 6 months and my car is still having the original issues.

    I own a 2000 monte carlo ss with 86,000 miles.I take extreme care of this vehicle as I show it. Two months ago the lower radiator support totally rotted away. Chevrolet says that's because I drive it in the winter and there is nothing they can do about it. My car is now in the shop because the aluminum engine cradle is cracked in two places. The Chevy dealer says that is normal wear and tear even though the lower control arm was ready to break away. Nine months ago I had to replace the a/c evaporator and condensor all due to normal wear. Thank GOD I don't abuse my car. In less than 1 year normal wear has cost me $5,000 dollars. Unfortunately I can,t buy another car because I am now broke. My 1979 El Camino seems to be a safer more reliable vehicle than my new Monte Carlo.
