I bought my first car, a 2014 Chevy Cruze, from America’s Car Mart on Feb 4. It had problems from the start—burning smell, weak A/C, slow acceleration, and oil issues. The turbo failed twice, the car runs hot, and the check engine light (P2096) came on. I later learned it failed emissions on Jan 28, passed on Jan 29, and they sold it to me days later. I tried to return it within 7 days, but they refused. I even had to bring my dad just to get them to push through any repairs. They take forever to fix anything, making me miss work and spend extra on rides. Now I just want the car gone and out of my name.

It's terrible when you can't tell in 7 days whether you'd like your vehicle or not especially when you've only put 160 mi on it and 60 of it was getting it home but yet you can't trade it back in for something that you really like because the 7 days are up when it's in the same condition as when I left there with it actually better condition because I put side steps on it so yeah I'm very unhappy.

DO NOT BUY HERE! You will end up paying over $23,000 for a vehicle that is worth MAYBE $5000. I signed on a tiny tablet and could not read anything. They said "Don't worry, we'll email it right over to you." A week later and nothing. Went in and asked for it. "Printer is down". Decided to make my first payment early while I was there. $20 more than I was quoted and they still will not show me the deal! I said I didn't like the car or the way I was being treated "Well you signed a legally binding contract." SHOW ME THE CONTRACT! Can we change the deal or the car? "Over 7 days, our hands are tied". THEY INTENTIONALLY WITHHELD THE PAPERWORK FOR OVER 7 DAYS SO THAT I WOULD HAVE NO RECOURSE! "Would you like to just leave the car??" After giving you over $1300 already? I bet you would love that! These are soulless, heartless, putrid people that prey on the weak. I am disgusted that I ever went here.

Three weeks ago NYS DMV sent a request to send my information over with lean information. After the request was sent I called America CarMart in Cotton Dale Alabama. They confirmed that they received the request. After not hearing anything for two weeks I called America CarMart and was told by the office manager that nothing was sent by NYS DMV. NYS DMV sent another request and CarMart stated that they received the second request and keeps telling me that they emailed the paperwork. NYS DMV still hasn't received anything and now when I call the manager is busy. Maybe I need to be late in a car payment just so I can talk to the manager.

No STARS would be the appropriate choice. They are crooks!!! Would not recommend to anyone especially if they are having a hard time because a car from them will drag the hardships until you're out of contract with this company.. I work in customer service and best believe I've made it a point to tell people to avoid this place.

I want to warn anyone and everyone that I've experienced 3 engine replacements in the past 7 months and this most recent time (second engine) which the mechanic kept my car for over 2 months and I racked up 300 a week on car rentals. Just for CAR-MART to give me my car back and have the same issue as before! I hope as you read this you know that this company is horrible!! They have no compassion and with 3 engine replacements (rigging my car) the Gm "Travis" refuses to put me in another vehicle just to repeat this engine scenario again as of today! So as I write this just know if you would like to work your ** off and throw your money away for a car that doesn't work part of the year than this is the place for you!!
Had my car for maybe 3 days and tried to tell service manager that nobody fixed anything and same issue with car! So here we go on 3rd engine replacement and it's when it's convenient for them. Keep in mind 500 deposit for rental car plus 300 a week on top of my car payment which is 250 every 2 weeks. Yes I'm still required to make payments while car is on 3rd engine replacement!! If anybody is reading this please stay away from this place. Literally a nightmare this GM has no sense at all!!

I purchased my current vehicle from Carmart of Meridian in late June or early July of 2023. I initially went to Carmart to purchase a vehicle and had my eyes set on a white 2015 Chrysler 200S. During the test drive, I noticed the vehicle was vibrating while idling. When I brought this issue up, the saleswoman was dismissive and visibly irritated. Instead of addressing my concerns, she got the general manager involved.
After speaking with the general manager, she assured me the issue would be taken care of and gave me a voucher to have the brakes checked, which was only valid for a week or two. However, I informed her that the problem was not with the brakes but with the heavy idling. She continued to insist that it would be resolved. I then had an issue with the cost of the vehicle, and after some haggling, the general manager told me they would lower the price by a couple of thousand dollars. Believing that the vehicle would be fixed, I signed the paperwork, provided my down payment, and drove off in my new car.
Ongoing Issues and Unresolved Repairs. A week after purchasing the vehicle, the check engine light came on. I called Carmart, and they directed me to their maintenance department. However, every time I called, I was either left on hold indefinitely or, when someone finally picked up, they immediately hung up without speaking. After numerous failed attempts to reach them, I decided to drive to the dealership in person to report the issue.
Their maintenance technician checked the code, cleared it, and assured me the check engine light would not come back on. However, the very next day, the light turned back on. I went through the same frustrating process of calling repeatedly, eventually driving to the dealership again. Once more, the technician simply cleared the code instead of addressing the root problem.
This pattern repeated for weeks. Each time, they would clear the check engine code, and within days, it would return. On one visit, the technician told me the vehicle needed a new O2 sensor but still did nothing to resolve the issue. Whenever I tried to escalate the matter to the service advisor, I was met with no response or indifference.
After weeks of persistence, I was finally told, “We are looking into it; we will contact you when we find a resolution.” This was just weeks after I had purchased the car. I waited for their response, but it never came. When I called back, I was given the same runaround—left on hold, hung up on, or met with a rude attitude.
Recall Excuse and Continued Delays. Eventually, the service advisor told me that the car had an active recall that was likely causing the transmission problems and that completing the recall repair would resolve everything. She assured me that she would schedule the recall appointment and call me with the details. I waited for months with no response. Tired of waiting, I decided to call the repair shop myself, only to find out that Carmart had never contacted them about my vehicle.
I scheduled the recall on my own, but because the repair shop was already backlogged, it took additional months to get the car in for service—something that could have been avoided if Carmart had scheduled it when they initially claimed they would. When the recall was finally completed, the check engine light remained on, and the same problems persisted. Once again, I went through the endless cycle of trying to get a hold of someone at Carmart, only to be met with indifference.
Warranty Denial and Out-of-Pocket Expenses. Recently, my car started overheating, an issue covered under my warranty. I immediately contacted Carmart, but as always, I was met with delays and rude customer service. After three days of continuous calls, I finally spoke with the service advisor, who asked if I had the car diagnosed. When I told her I thought Carmart would handle the tow and diagnosis, she responded, “No, we don’t do that.” When I asked which repair shop to take it to, she told me to choose any shop and then abruptly hung up. Confused, I called back, and the receptionist—who was extremely rude—told me that Carmart did cover towing and provided me with a tow company’s contact information.
I had the car towed to a reputable repair shop, where they diagnosed the issue: broken heater hose connectors, which had been previously repaired incorrectly. The repair shop informed me that this was something that should have been covered under my warranty. However, when I contacted Carmart, they told me that because I had the repair done at a shop outside their network, they would not cover the cost—even though I was explicitly told I could take the car anywhere. As a result, I was forced to pay out of pocket and missed three days of work.
Corporate Involvement and Payment Disputes. Frustrated, I contacted Carmart’s corporate office and explained the situation. They opened a case and told me the GM of Carmart of Meridian would contact me. The next day, the GM called, apologized for the issues, and promised to get my car fixed. She even offered to take the car back and put me in a different vehicle, but I declined because I had already paid nearly two years on this one and did not want to start over on a new loan. The day after my car was repaired, I called Carmart to request a one-week payment deferment since I had missed work and paid for repairs out of pocket. I was told that it was not possible, even though it had been done for me before.
Then, I was blindsided by an additional charge—a “seasonal payment” that I had never been informed about. When I asked what it was for, I was given conflicting answers: first, they claimed it was to help with my down payment (despite me already paying $2,000 upfront), and then they changed the explanation to, “It helps people pay off their vehicles faster.”
I called corporate again, and they told me that seasonal payments were meant for people who receive tax refunds. Since I owe taxes instead of receiving a refund, they advised me to tell the dealership so they could waive the fee. However, when I relayed this to Carmart, they refused, with my account rep stating, “Corporate doesn’t run this place—our GM said everyone has to pay, so everyone has to pay.”
Final Thoughts. Carmart of Meridian has provided nothing but poor service, broken promises, and misleading information. I have paid $6,528 so far ($251 every two weeks) and still owe $12,092.63, bringing the total cost of the vehicle to $18,787 at 16.5% APR—for a car that is worth only around $5,000. This is my second vehicle from Carmart, and I was on time with nearly every payment on both. Yet, when real issues arose, I was met with nothing but delays, rudeness, and dishonesty. It wasn’t until I contacted corporate that Carmart of Meridian even pretended to care.
They are now hounding me about a seasonal payment that I was not informed of until this situation started. Stating that I owe them several hundred dollars and that they are going to tow my car. i have only been one week late and that is because of this situation yes they threaten to tow my vehicle. Their handling of my situation has been completely unprofessional, and I would not recommend them to anyone.

Carmart is hands down the worst place to purchase a car if you are looking for a reliable one, what they do have, is great customer service and quality workers but fail to explain the car's value and what it needs before selling, car vendors in Durant has given me information about the cars I looked into in great detail while Carmart fails to mention smallest flaws in the cars they sell. As I know car salesmen do what they do and not every one is truthful about what they give and take but they are worst at working with people when it is a place of getting a car with bad credit. I highly suggest buying a car from a stranger one on one than going to this place as that stranger is probably more truthful and honest about what they are selling and same goes for cavenders in Durant! Good luck with the experience you have and I hope anyone that goes there has a better experience than I have!

Car Mart in Corinth was the worst experience! I financed a car! Not even 2 days later it just wouldn’t crank. Not to mention I never even got at tag for it. So after almost 2 weeks without a vehicle, and calling to check on the progress of fixing it, almost 2 weeks later the final answer was they couldn’t fix it. I was reimbursed and put in a different vehicle that wasn’t any better. I didn’t even have it long enough to pay a note. It had a power steering problem and transmission was overheating, But wanted me to pay the remaining balance of the second bad vehicle I was put in. I will never go back.

Hello I am Lisa and I want to share our experience. I first was told that we were buying a service contract and was able to use it. Well that is fine right? No because when you your used like lemon car actually starts falling apart then guess what you don’t use the warranty. They tell you it is expired after they tell you it wasn’t. They tell you because the person who answered the phone was not the service manager their words were if you didn’t hear it from me it is no good. So I try to be nice and after his man plaining to me I hang up and call the 800 number to be over talked, told my husband who is on the contract has to be here and I can’t do anything.
I try to tell her I know this because I spoke to the other employees all week when Chris the service manager was not available all week, when not one call got returned and I had to return them. I said that is why my husband who works out of town is home today and it was to take the car in and get the papers signed and have it fixed. He took off to do this. He is going to leave Monday at 3 and not be back for two weeks. She then spoke over me again and again. When I ask her to hear me she refused. Then she hung up on me. Yes corporate hung up on me. I am very upset and I am very angry. They do not provide id numbers and they not help you unless they want to which is never.

On August 2, 2024 we bought a car from America's Car-Mart in Paducah. On August 7, I took the car back to them because it was smoking. I was told they had switched out the engine before selling it to me, and that it was just leftover oil and was fine. On August 10, I broke down going down the highway. It is October 5 and I still do not have my car back. We’ve been told excuse after excuse including they’ve apparently put in a new transmission 3 different times now. We’ve been told on multiple occasions that the manager is “too busy” to talk to us.
They’ve promised to call us back and have not. Even corporate emails have gone unanswered. We’ve still been expected to make payments or it’ll be reflected on our credit report that it is late. 1st payment was $600. The next two were $505. $1,610 for a car we do not even have, and to a company who is too busy to call us back. We’ve specifically been dealing with the manager Eddie **, who does not return phone calls to us when we leave him messages.
Please please share and keep anyone else from using this horrible company. Keep your money! It might seem like an easy way to get financed, but because it comes at a cost! I’m done playing nice. I had to cancel my daughter’s birthday party because I did not have a reliable car, and now I’ve missed the chance to say my final goodbyes to my grandmother. I got my car in October 2023. After 10 days of having it, it started messing up. I was extremely unhappy due to the 7-day return policy, I was told there is nothing that can be done besides pay even MORE money, $90 to get it diagnosed, then have to pay a $75 deductible to have it fixed by Car-Mart. A 7-day return policy for Car-Mart cars is not even remotely enough time to determine if the car is a good fit, let alone a good car at all. So, had no choice and got that fixed after already paying a bunch of money to get the car in the first place. Fast forward to early 2024, the battery starts messing up. I bought a new battery and it seemed to be alright. Then, a month or so later it stops working again and realize the cables were loose to the battery. So, then fixed that. Again, won’t start so I’m thinking it’s the battery.. get a new battery because of the warranty.
Anyway, here I am again on my way to work this morning and my car won’t start. Not the battery this time I don’t think, because it’s had 2 batteries and the cables tightened. So, what is causing the battery to be drained? I’m not sure. I called the Car-Mart in Broken Arrow (where I got the car) and they are the absolute rudest employees I’ve ever dealt with. I would say even more put out to help and worse than the tag offices. Which is NOT how they were when trying to sell me a car. I was told by the receptionist that if it is the alternator or possibly the starter it is not covered under the 3-year service warranty. I called at 9:30am this morning and would be told I would get a call back. I have yet to hear anything from anyone. I would absolutely NEVER recommend a car from Car-Mart. I feel absolutely taken advantage of from someone who struggles living paycheck to paycheck, and always pays on time. Every time.
I pay WAY too much money for a 2015 car that is constantly not working. It is absolutely appalling how you all conduct your business. I was warned about Car-Mart and still gave them a chance. Here is your sign to not get a car from here. An email was sent to customer service Aug 26th, like the general manager told me to do. We have been playing phone tag for a month now. I have requested a designated time for us both to call and they have refused to do that.

Seeing that this location has a 4.6 rating, I hope my experience was a one-time deal. I bought my car in May and it started running hot in August. Since I purchased the extended warranty, I had to pay for a diagnostic from a certified mechanic and then $75 to have the mechanic of their choosing fix my car. When I got my car back from their mechanic the first time, I took it on the highway and my coolant started to boil...I only drove it for 10 minutes. So, they towed it back to the mechanic.
When I got it back the second time I drove it a little further because I had a 7-hour drive planned for the weekend and I wanted to test the car out. Not only was my coolant boiling but there was smoke coming from under the hood and when I turned the car off the fan kept running for a good 5-8 minutes. So again it was towed into the same mechanic.
At this point, I was done and decided I am not going to keep this 'lemon'. When I called to let them know, I was not offered another vehicle or even an apology for the problems I was having with the vehicle I was sold. I do not at all recommend purchasing a car from this location. There were a couple of people there that treated me with dignity and Kudos to them. But the people that should have treated me with dignity didn't care enough to do so. Worst car buying experience EVER!!

Sure they basically approve anyone. But for a lot of money. What you get you pay twice for what it’s actually worth. The most recent car I purchased is slowly falling apart. I purchased it not realizing the washer fluid reservoir was completely cracked it half. I called and the GM said no worries, we will replace it at no cost to you (as they should) after 3 weeks and me having to call them multiple times and follow up because I was told over and over “first thing tomorrow morning” my appointment day finally arrives because the week before I was told they had the part and set an appointment. I show up for my appointment (missing work might I add) and I’m told they never received the part from Car Mart. They had to wait until 9 am to call CarMart when they opened. So I left to go back to work. Car mart told the shop (when they finally were able to get a response) that the part would be sent over that morning. It didn’t show up.
So the shop calls Car Mart yet again and apparently the part has been “misplaced”. I’m guessing just like every other time I talked to them he was lying. I’m guessing it was never purchased to begin with. Absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional. So luckily the car shop was great and ordered the part themselves are going to contact me again to set up a new appointment next week. Car Mart in Harrisonville MO is definitely the worst communicating, don’t care about the customer - just the money, unprofessional, most frustrating car dealer I’ve ever had to deal with. Not looking forward to the next 4 years being stuck with them and their huge price tag.

Worst experience ever, literally paid/pay big amounts of money and they took my car because I was late 35 DOLLARS. This place has no compassion. I am a whole college student trying to start the semester and I wake up to my car being gone. I called the site and the manager BRANDY TOLD ME she put the tow order in that morning because of 35 DOLLARS. After I literally paid 350 DOLLARS THAT MORNING they never contacted me, email or nothing, even after I gave them my number multiple times on a prior occasion.
While on the phone they were very spiteful and patronizing when their whole pitch is that they are “understanding” and “keeping people on the road”. And now they expect me to be able to pay 400 DOLLARS to a tow company that’s 50mins away from where I stay because of “miscommunication”. How is that fair at all. I am a STRUGGLING college student. I’m not getting help from anyone, no parent, grandparents, etc. and when I would try to explain my situation they literally hung up in my face. I really hope Karma come around on them this is HORRIBLE and a borderline SCAM.
Update: I had to keep calling to get towing information. I first contacted them around 1:50 and didn’t get the towing information until 4:13 the towing company closes at 4:30, charges by the day and is almost an hour away from where I’m staying and close. So even if I could muster up the money I still wouldn’t be able get my car and would have to wait even longer, all over 35 DOLLARS. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. SAVE YOURSELF THE STRESS. Spoke to three women on the phone and no one cared and BRANDY EVEN HUNG UP IN MY FACE

I needed a car, and they were willing to finance me after I'd been sick and had credit issues. So, yes, I did appreciate it at the time without knowing what I was getting into. There wasn't much of a selection in the parking lot to choose from (some of the cars I test drove were in ridiculously questionable shape), so I tried to select the one that was the least dirty, had the least body and mechanical issues, and had the least stench of cigarettes. The sales rep was nice, and I appreciated her help, but that's about it. Don't mean to sound ungrateful, as they were willing to work with me. But that's about it as far as I will offer gratitude and compliments.
There was no offer to clean the car up of its disgusting cigarette stench. When she handed me a key and I asked about gas (the car was on empty, just gas fumes), she went around to the back and got a beat up 5-gallon gas can and poured about 1 gallon of gas in it. Cheap and miserly! That defines Car-Mart! I drove the car to the nearest gas station and was keeping my fingers crossed that it wouldn't run out of gas. It took months to get rid of the cigarette smell. Changed the cabin filter, scrubbed and sprayed the interior over and over. It was wretched. The filth I pulled out of the fabric and carpet was disgusting. There was gunk and gook in the vents.
I had to be a few days' late on some of the payments. I have had health issues and explained to them that I don't get paid for sick time. They begin to harass you with collection calls. I had to deal with the same hateful lady every time. She'd threaten to ruin my credit score and would tell me I had to drive 45 minutes to their office to set up a payment plan. Every. Single. Time. I don't think so! Not if a payment was 3 days late!
I wish I'd never, ever bought the car from them. I am turning the car back over to them and to heck with how it affects my credit. The car simply isn't worth the hassle and stress. And the price I would have paid for it would have been outrageous. It should have sold for about $5,000, at best, due to its age at being over a decade old. No, the car was over $13,000 and had over 120,000 miles on the odometer! The cost of the car, plus financing, and any repairs that would have been required on it made the car not worth the price tag! I had expected service after the sale would be great. Nope. Not when reality hit!
You may have better luck than I did, and apparently some do. I make every effort to be understanding and pleasant in my business dealings and obligations. But this car, and the outrageous price they charged for an ancient vehicle was not worth it. I've known a few others who bought cars from them, and they regretted it very much.
They will install a device on the car to disable it if you get behind in payments, as well as GPS, to 'protect their investment.' I had stopped driving it months before they did this. Every day or so I'd go out to crank it up so that the battery would not go dead. HA. One day I went out and saw the device hanging down under the driver's side dashboard. OK...I understand why they did it. But now, it has been sitting for months just waiting to be picked up. I can't return it due to health issues. PROCEED WITH CAUTION IF YOU ARE DESPERATE ENOUGH TO BUY A CAR FROM THEM! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

If I could put zero stars I would. The worst car buying experience ever, I haven't even put 20,000 miles on it and the transmission went out after 4 months of having the vehicle, 2017 Ford Explorer. Replaced the altenator a month after I got it. Just now got it back for front differential repair and it's still making the same noises. Asked for an invoice to prove that they serviced it and the lady literally said that they don't give invoices, yet they made me get a diagnostic report before they would even service it. Don't buy from here, they give all dealerships a bad name.

I've been on hold with 7 phones with America's Car Mart home office. The line holds for so long and then it's disconnected. This company sold me an unsafe vehicle that was deemed unsafe by Highway Patrol. I expressed my concern with keeping the vehicle 7 days. I was denied a different vehicle even though it was within my 7 days. This car lot sold this vehicle needing tires, brakes AND pads. They did not disclose that they put a different motor in the car. Their own mechanic accidentally told me a new motor was put in it. Then asked for me not to tell car mart he told me that. It needed rotors, shocks. Check engine light has been on since 2 days after I bought it. The heat is stuck on and on high. The car dies driving down the road for no reason. The camera is upside down. The touchscreen doesn't work a lot of the time. It has electrical issues. Exhaust leak. It had a busted windshield that was in my view.
They did finally replace it 3 months later. I purchased the vehicle in April. Nothing but trouble out of the car and worse trouble out of the staff. Extremely poor management. Tanner and Aaron have no business managing anything. Car Mart has a reputation for screwing people over in Hot Spings. Wish I would've known before I purchased a lemon.
