We saw this beautiful QX56 Infiniti. It's a used car and a 2007. We had a 2004 in an accident, so I wanted the same vehicle. So, we bought it as well as this GWC warranty that the dealer sold. They were okay to deal with, unfortunately, the car is a lemon. We took it up to the Infiniti dealer in Roseville, had them check it out, and fix whatever needed working. I could have paid $5,000 to have it repaired but they told us to return the car.
I was going to do that and my husband wanted to do that as well. But at the same time, my husband was diagnosed with an incurable disease. So I’ll drive the car until it falls apart then I’ll buy something else. I can only have so much stress in my life and losing my husband is gonna be hard enough. The dealer that we bought the car from said that he works with GWC and he could have his mechanic do all the work. But since they sold me a piece of crap, I certainly wasn’t gonna have his mechanic work on it. Other than that, we had a little bit of warranty work done on the car and our experience wasn't terribly bad. But it wasn't fantastic either.

Sonja, I am sorry to hear about your husband and your experience with the dealership. Please know that should you require any work on covered components, we will be here to help and can assist in finding a service facility from our network of preferred providers.

The business that I bought my vehicle from recommended GWC Warranty and that was the company they set me up with. But it’s definitely not something that I was happy with. The first time I had a deal with them, the radio in my vehicle had stopped working. I took the vehicle to the Ford dealership but apparently, my plan had exclusions in it. The agent told me the radio wasn’t covered. It was very confusing because a part of the radio was covered but another part was not. They paid some but I ended up having to pay 600 bucks out of pocket.
Then the second time I dealt with them, my air conditioner had stopped working. I took the vehicle to the Ford dealership, which is a five-star dealership in Texas and one of the top ones in the country. The guy called GWC but he was told that the way that the warranty works is that they would go find the cheapest aftermarket part that they can find and then that’s the amount that they would cover. I had a $100 deductible and my air conditioner job was supposedly covered. They paid $1,500 but it cost me $2,500.
They should be more inclusive with what they cover and not just the cheapest parts they can find. Mine is a Ford so obviously, I want Ford parts. That’s what most people would wanna do with their vehicle. This claim was near the end of my warranty period too, and it couldn’t have happened at a better time. It was still covered under the warranty but then to be out $2,500. The slogan of the warranty is “No Worries, Just Drive” too. GWC even called me to say I had to renew and I told them I was definitely not gonna renew.

Jonathan, I am sorry to hear about your experience. The parts your shop requested for your A/C repair were unfortunately much higher than the part we were able to obtain from one of our reliable parts providers. We provide these quality aftermarket parts in order to help control costs both when you purchase your service contract and when you have a repair. In this case, the factory part was preferred so we were able to provide an allowance equal to the cost of the part we sources. I apologize if there was any misunderstanding, and if you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to give us a call at 1-800-482-7357. Thank you for your feedback.

We never know what could happen with a vehicle so I decided to get a service contract. GWC Warranty's reps were very helpful but more in-depth information was needed. The overall coverage is good though and I’m pretty satisfied with my experience with GWC.

When I bought my car at the car lot, they recommended that I purchase a service contract for it. GWC was at the car lot and I got a contract with them. I had several claims with them. One was with the key when I first got the car. It just stopped working. It didn't work for the vehicle, and at that point of time, I didn't have any other key. I took it to the Chevy dealership and the warranty covered one, and then I had to pay for the other one. The process was too long but it had some more to do with the dealership. It took two weeks which was way too long for just a little key. I also had another claim a couple of months ago with the AC, and GWC came in handy. I would've been out $1,100 or $1,200 by myself. The whole policy paid for itself. So, I'm glad I got it. The warranty service was good. I will recommend it just to be on the safe side because cars have problems and things happen. It'll save you a lot of trouble, a lot of time, and definitely a lot of money.

Thank you for the review, Marquette. It was our pleasure to help with your repair and we're glad that we can help provide some peace of mind as you drive your vehicle.

When I bought my truck, GWC's warranty was offered to me through the dealership. Buying a service contract seemed like a good idea at the time, so I went with it. One time, I blew up the transmission of my truck and they paid for it to get replaced. Their reps were always mostly pretty decent but it took a long time for them to get a representative to come down and look at my truck themselves. I was without a truck for three months. But for what it was, the warranty was worth it.

Thank you for the feedback, Jesse. We're glad your truck was fixed and we will certainly use your feedback to understand how we can provider a speedy claims experience.

The dealer that I bought my vehicle from was charging me for every three months for the warranty and I feel as though they were overcharging me, so I called the warranty company, GWC Warranty, myself. I had a couple of friends that dealt with GWC. Plus, some of the places that fix cars say that GWC is a decent warranty company. I talked to Tom who quoted me a price at first and I told him it was a bit too much because I’m on a fixed income. So he put a supervisor on the phone and she made it right, where I can pay it. She gave me a three-year deal and it has been good ever since. The warranty covers most of the major parts and that’s what I was interested in. I would have wanted the drivetrain to be covered but really, all I got to do is buy brake pads and windshield wiper blades. I’d recommend GWC. If you’re not satisfied with your warranty, you need to call and talk to these people. They’re good people.

Thanks for the detailed feedback, George! We hope you find peace of mind in your GWC coverage!

When claiming a repair I thought it would be easy since their motto is "No worries just drive". Well that is great till claim time comes and you find out they won't pay the full shop labor/hour fee, they only pay what they feel is right for your area and in my case I didn't know of any shops that low or trust able. Then I also find out they don't cover the cost of all the parts or items needed to properly do the repair leaving you even more out of pocket. As a result of this I had to cover about 1/3 of the bill or try to find a cheap place within the approved rate and tell them not to do the job right and on top of that would likely need to pay for a tow from one shop to the other. This left me with worries and frustration as this was my only vehicle to transport my family in. Sadly it seems I was mislead when signing up for what was to be a simple, easy plan. No worries, just drive! But there are these exceptions you will worry about that they don't tell you till it's claim time.

Anthony, I am sorry to hear about your experience. For future claims, please feel free to give us a call and we'd be happy to locate a preferred shop that operates within your contract's labor rate. Thank you for your message.

I bought a high-end vehicle and wanted to make sure I had a good warranty. I was given a couple of companies to choose from, and based on the brochure that I read, I picked GWC because of the cost of the warranty, what the warranty covered, and the length of time but they could've explained things better. Then, I had an issue with the steering wheel automatically adjusting from the settings that I had. GWC gave me an idea of what my out-of-pocket expense would be and the Mercedes dealership handled all of that. But they worked it out with the warranty company. It took about four days to complete the repair and things were seamless to me.

Thank you for the review, Robert!

GWC Warranty was the one that was available at the dealership where I bought the truck. The dealer explained what was covered and what wasn't covered. He knew exactly what was covered and he was very professional. Also, I took it to where I bought it for different warranty procedures and everything was fine. I would just have to call down there and they would take care of everything. GWC took care of me more than once and they covered everything they said they were supposed to cover. If anyone asks about GWC, I would definitely tell them to buy the product.

GWC warranty was offered to me at the dealership and we got their gold package. The dealer explained to me what the plan covered and how much it cost. My interactions with the people at GWC went smoothly and everything seemed okay as far as the claims process. My father and I own the auto repair shop where we had some work done and we’re the technicians. When we filed claims, GWC wanted to make sure that what we were stating wasn't wrong, so at one point, they had to send an adjuster who confirmed what we stated.
GWC wanted to put after-market parts though, and in certain parts you don’t use after-market as they’re known to fail prematurely. But that’s what GWC approved for, so we used after-market parts a couple of times. But they should put a factory part. I use after-market parts on customers’ cars, but there’s something that I know if I put it in, they’ll be back within three or six months, and then the customers will have to go with the factory part because the after-market parts don't last long. Nonetheless, GWC covered everything. The warranty is expired now, but I was pretty satisfied when I had it. If I would buy another car again, I’ll go with GWC.

Thanks for the review, Elias! It was our pleasure to help with your repair and to work with you shop as well.

I got the GWC Warranty for security purposes in case anything happened. But then, when something did happen, I had to jump through hoops to get things done. When I bought my car, the dash wasn't working and I got it replaced. The mileage was switched up because of the dash and I had to wait for a month and a half to get it switched back so I could get my warranty work done. Still, it was impossible to get in contact with anybody and everyone was telling me different things. I had to go through four or five people to figure out what I had to do to resolve the issue. I don’t want to go through all the hassle again of getting things done. I didn't like my experience with GWC.

Working its GWC warranty has been an absolute nightmare. My motor in my vehicle started smoking within a month and a half of owning it. After over a month of talking with adjusters (my car sitting at the mechanic this long) the company said they needed more proof and told my mechanic to take out the motor for diagnostic purposes. The inspector came out and agreed my whole motor needed to be replaced. The next day GWC chose to reject the claim due to sludge/lack of maintenance. Mind you, I had only owned the vehicle for a short time and had given it proper maintenance when it was in my possession.
The contract clearly states that the warranty will only be rejected for covered parts IF I had knowledge of this when the warranty was purchased. I did not. They are choosing to not cover a thing. And not only that, I’m stuck with 3,000 worth in labor charges for taking out and putting the motor back in. I was never made aware of the company that I would be responsible for these charges. The claims manager Ed was not helpful at all, did not seem to have any interest in helping me whatsoever. I feel completely scammed as this company has caused me more hassle than I could have even imagined.

This is my second time using my warranty for my 2005 Acura TL. The first experience was for a brake caliper. They cover the caliper. I had to pay for the pads. My power steering pump/rack was replace. I had to pay for the alignment along with the difference they did not cover in labor charges. I needed the alignment because of the malfunction, I needed the brake pad because of the caliper malfunction. This warranty is a joke.

Jeremi, I am sorry to hear about your experience. I asked our claims managers to look into your claims experience and after doing so, we can share that brake pads and alignments are maintenance items that are typically not covered by a service contract. I apologize if there was any confusion regarding your coverage.

Purchase GWC Warranty when buying my used 05 Chevy Suburban. Heard some noises and figured to get it checked out. Went to the shop and was informed that my rear differential was bad and needed to be replaced. When the shop called GWC claims department to inform them that the rear differential was bad and it had metal shaving in the plate, the claims department needed more proof. Now when there is metal shaving coming from a part that obviously means that the part is bad. Furthermore I was told that GWC has a straight labor rate that they pay, and I could possibly have to pay for the remainder of the labor in which I shouldn’t be since I entrust on this warranty company. I was also told that some parts of the rear differential wouldn’t be covered. So I also may have to pay for some parts as well.
On top of that, I had to pay a $268.00 diagnostic fee for more diagnostic since GWC is requesting more proof of what part is actually going bad. I purchase the certified plus warranty which covered majority of the heavier parts such as the engine, transmission, 4 wheel drive axle parts etc. If the warranty that I have covers alternator then why is it so hard to cover a rear differential when that is a major component in a four wheel drive car. Overall I’m just not happy and I shouldn’t be stressing about this since I trusted the extended warranty to cover it for me. I have never dealt with a warranty company in which the customer has to pay for the diagnostic fee, the prorated labor and possible parts that are not covered.

Will, I am sorry to hear about your experience. I have spoken with our claims managers, and they have been in touch with your shop to explore ways in which we can help make this repair process a bit easier for you. When I bought my car, the dealer told me they have an extra warranty for it. I asked how much it was so they told me and I said that I would take it because I have another car and it was the same model but different year. The purchasing experience was good. When the dealer explained the coverage, he just told me they provide that and if I have any problems, I can call GWC and tell them. They cover parts that they need to fix. The first time I had an issue was with the alternator and I filed a claim with them. I brought the car to shop and told the people there that I have insurance. I gave the information to them and they called the insurance. GWC's customer service was good. If there's a problem, there's a claim number and they send somebody to check and inspect the car.
The insurance people came, inspect and said that they will pay for it. They replaced that, but six months later, I got the same problem. I went back to the mechanic and asked them what was going on. I was told that they replaced the alternator. However, I asked the mechanic why do I have to replace it only six months later. He then told me that it was because the alternator I had is not a good one, just one of the cheaper ones.
I called the warranty people and said that I'm not happy because I checked how much they pay for the alternator. I then paid $100 for my deductible though the part is $200 only. The car is a Mercedes so it has to be replaced with a recent part. I told them that I don't want now a cheap part, I want a good one. Finally, they put something better and it took them a day to get my car back on the road.

Thanks for the review, Javier. We're sorry you had trouble with your alternator, but we hope you can now enjoy your Mercedes for many miles to come!

GWC seems they’d cover if anything goes wrong and they're a good insurance on cars when we checked other different providers. The representative who sold the warranty to me was excellent. I was taken back to the woman who did the title work and she was really nice and awesome. She told us about it piece by piece then we took it. Then we had a claim where the car's defroster has one that was cool and another one is coming out hot. They told us we could just drop the car off or wait for it, and we dropped it off. They had it fixed right away and the repair was completed in a day. I had no trouble paying for it too. I’d recommend GWC.

The guys at the dealership where I bought my car sold me the GWC extended warranty. They said it would be the best coverage that I would get. I paid $3,000, which was a lot of money for one warranty, and the warranty was supposed to cover everything from top to bottom with anything I wanted and from any dealership that I wanted in the US. But when I went to the dealership to change my Toyota oxygen sensor, I found out that GWC only pays for aftermarket parts and not for factory parts.
Apparently, the GWC rep that I signed the contract with never worked with the dealership. I had to pay the dealership to change the oxygen sensor as GWC doesn’t cover anything but the cheap parts. That was completely unfair, so I was so pissed off. GWC also said that they just cover a regular mechanic and the set-up mechanic, and not dealerships. The part costs $450 but while an oxygen sensor like that from AutoZone would cost $97, the dealership charged more as the part they put in was of high quality. But I got a discount from GWC, so my bill was $280.
I’d like to get back the $2,800 that I paid for my warranty. I spoke with the customer service of GWC and they said that I had to call the dealer. Then I spoke with the dealer and they said they could return my money but I would only get a couple of hundred dollars because I have already used some of the money. I didn’t use anything and this car has only 2,000 miles on it because I don’t use it that much. But the dealership said I could not leave until I’ve paid the $280 bill.
This situation needs to be resolved. If GWC will renew the warranty and add dealers, then that would be okay. But if they don’t, then I’d like to get my money back because there’s a whole bunch of other companies that sell extended warranties and they do the right thing. The people at the dealership lied to me about the extended warranty of GWC. When I tried to use it, I didn’t get what they said I would get with it. I am very dissatisfied with GWC Warranty and there is no way that I will ever use them.

Marcus, I am sorry to hear about your experience. According to our records, a payment of over $200 was approved to cover portions of the $280 repair you mention. The out-of-pocket costs resulted from the difference in parts pricing and sales tax. Using parts of like kind and quality is something we do to help you conserve costs on both the service contract itself as well during the repair process. As for cancellations in regards to your contract, in Massachusetts, a contract is only eligible for cancellation in the event it is declared a total loss, stolen or repossessed. In that instance, we would then provide a pro-rated refund to the selling dealer, which would then be passed along to you. I apologize for any confusion regarding your situation, and should you have any other questions, please feel free to call us at 1-800-482-7357. Thank you for the feedback.

I usually get a call back on the same day saying if the claim was approved and they would give me a mechanic. I would tell him to pick it up and take it there. The first time, it took three days to complete the repair and the second time took a little over a week because they had to wait for a part. Things didn’t really go well and the rep didn’t do a great job. He didn’t explain the coverage much. When we bought the truck it was already messed up, so it was so stressful that we had to go and leave it, back and forth. If I was to buy the truck with a good motor, I wouldn't have wasted a lot of time. The dealer can’t just shove a car to us. I like the car to work but if it was gonna be so much problems, I would’ve never gotten it in the first place. So instead of them just receiving money, they could’ve explained things a bit better. The experience has turned to be fairly pleasant and the people that I bought the car from told me something that I was happy about so, I was satisfied with it.
The first time I made a claim with GWC, I was a little bit disappointed and they made me nervous. They told me that the places they would recommend my vehicle to were totally unworthy of them telling anybody to go to. I told them to forget it and that I’m gonna take it back to the dealers this time and pay the differential. I've been doing that and been more than satisfied with them. The service company takes care of everything with GWC, and I haven't had to do a thing. The second time I called them, I gave them to the BMW dealers that I dealt with. They told me to pick up the car and that it has been repaired. GWC has taken care of it and it took less than a week. Life would be a little bit different if I didn’t have that warranty. It has been more than sufficient and I haven’t had to any callbacks. I'm just happy I bought it. It cost me a lot but it's been working.

I always end up having to fix things on the vehicles, and I was hoping a warranty would cover some of it. The dealership I was buying the car from offered GWC and it sounded good. Everything was pretty smooth at the dealership when I purchased the vehicle service contract. They seemed to know what they were talking about. I had filed claims three times and I let my mechanic handle those. He let me know what GWC was gonna pay and not. The repairs didn't take very long to be completed. It took a couple of weeks. It was somewhat disappointing at times though when they only covered a part that was broken and needing replacement. They also seem to always want to go with the cheapest used parts that they can find. The little brochure could be a little more clear, ‘cause if it says it repairs air conditioning but it only covers certain small parts of the air conditioning and everything else, we have to pay for it ourselves.

Adam, I am sorry to hear that you are not satisfied with your coverage. We do offer several different levels of coverage, including an exclusionary option that covers more of the air conditioning components you mention. When I had a roadside assistance claim, I was told that I was completely covered and when the roadside came out, they couldn't find the call in their system. The driver had to drop my vehicle because he wasn’t getting paid on it. For some reason, it was a mix-up. He had a PO number that matched the PO number that was sent to me via text message. But when I open up the PO number, the PO number is from someone in a totally different state. It was horrible. I had to get someone else to tow my vehicle and I paid for it out of pocket. I'm a stickler for warranties, so if I can get a warranty on a vehicle, I will. I was looking for everything that I could get covered and I wasn't just gonna get the Powertrain. I wanted the enhanced one that covered electrical like the AC. GWC had better quality and they had better options, so we got the best plan that we could get. GWC answered calls and even though they were a little pricier for the items, they were good. People should get them. We also have zero deductible unlike with our other insurance but I wish there was more stuff covered in the warranty. The claims process was very quick. We took our Yukon into the dealership because the AC was acting up. When we left that same day, the claim was already filled and it was fixed. They covered all of it.

Thanks for the review, Robert! We hope you can enjoy that Yukon for many more miles to come!

I have a used vehicle and got an extended warranty from GWC. The car is a General Motors car, so it just made sense to me. The reps I bought it from were professional and cordial. They told me that I pay a portion, and the insurance will pay the rest. Whatever the deductible amount would be, that was the percentage the insurance company would cover, and then I would have to pay the difference. I would recommend them. I could always use more coverage but I felt that what they offered was fair.

I was buying a used vehicle and I know used vehicles are all gonna have problems no matter what the dealership says and how reputable they are. So I decided I would rather pay the price and nothing goes wrong, or if something does go wrong, I would have the insurance. I didn’t want to take chances and decided to get a warranty for my vehicle. But a lot of companies will not take a vehicle that’s old as mine and GWC is the first one that has accepted me, so I went with it. It was also recommended by the dealer and they told me that it was a good deal.
Whenever I had a problem, I went back to the dealer and he told me to call GWC. I filed a claim and it was a very simple process and they treated me really well. The lady that I talked to was very nice and quick about it. She asked me a couple of questions and told me that I was approved for it and put the vehicle in the shop and have it done so it wasn’t a big ordeal at all. I have recommended GWC and in fact, I’m gonna call them tomorrow to see when my policy will expire and how much it is going to cost me to re-up on it.

Thanks for the review, John! We're glad you had a No Worries, Just Drive experience and we're looking forward to helping you renew your contract!

I don't even know where to start, this experience with GWC seems so exhausting. I have a 2008 Lexus IS250 that was towed to the Lexus dealership to have the alternator replaced. I was expecting to simply pay my $100 deductible, well the dealership ends up calling me to let me know that after speaking with GWC I would owe a balance of $700 because GWC did not agree with the labor hours or parts price Lexus was charging. After talking with GWC they informed me that they found a local shop (obviously not Lexus grade) that are more 'in line' with their pricing and if I wanted to not pay a difference to take it there. After doing the math to determine what would be the best decision, I end up paying the diagnosis charge of $100 to Lexus and then tow it again to this other shop.
Well after they perform the repairs they called me and tell me the same thing, that GWC does not want to pay all of the cost, which again leaves me with paying more than the advertised deductible. This whole experience really makes it obvious that GWC is not looking out after the best interest of its PAYING customers, but only to find ways to pay the minimum and push cost to the customer. I am extremely dissatisfied and the ironic part is that before all this happened I would refer my friends to GWC as a place for extended auto warranty. I definitely have to get back with them and inform of them of my experience. People always think of warranty and insurance companies as a scam, but never have I felt more right about that until this experience.

Edward, I am sorry to hear about the trouble you experienced during your repair. Our records show that the claim paid to the second shop matches the invoice we received from that service facility, so it is unclear to us what additional costs you were charged there. When I was purchasing the car, the dealer asked me if I wanted an extended warranty. He gave me a GWC pamphlet and told me to look over it and decide whether I wanted it to not. It was an extra $100 and I do not have to pay a copay every time I took it there. I thought that I was doing good by doing that because it covered a lot of stuff. Instead, the dealer didn’t stand behind the warranty and the car. I haven’t had a good experience with GWC at all. The calipers were bad and they fixed it but they charged me $241. Furthermore, they only did one side.
The other side was bad too, but they didn’t change it because they said it was still working. They wanted to charge me another $241 to do it. Furthermore, they said the warranty didn’t cover the rotors and the pads. I also had a fuel problem on my car that had been there four times and they kept taking the tank off the car. They told me they fixed it and gave it back to me. But then, I drove the car for a few miles for a day and the warning light lit again. I will not renew my warranty with GWC.

Sheryl, I apologize for an inconvenience or miscommunication during your repair. However, brake pads and rotors are not covered components under the terms of your service contract. As for the caliper replacement, we were able to cover the cost of the calipers that failed but since the other side had not failed, there was not a need to repair them at this time. GWC was recommended to me by the dealer. I have been with them for a year now but I wasn't very happy with how everything turned out. Most of the things that I had done weren't even covered, so I was very disappointed in the warranty itself. There was one incident that I went in for and there were a few things that needed to be done. And some of the things, based on the brochure, seemed like it should be covered, and it wasn't. The repair facility tried calling GWC and didn't get any callbacks. They basically said those were not covered. I am still gonna be calling GWC back to talk to them about that.

GWC refuses to pay for new transmission and used transmission that they said was available was a lie. Now we are completely out of a vehicle and we have the top warranty coverage. When I bought my truck, the GWC warranty was offered through the dealership. My truck had 30-plus thousand miles, so I got a warranty for it. Also, the cost of the warranty was about right and I was happy with it. I liked the dealer that I bought it from. He handed me the service contract showing what the warranty would cover and I read it.
The dealership said that if I had an issue with my truck, they would prefer that I bring it to them and they would handle everything. I had a claim for a leaf spring break and they took care of it for me. I took my truck there and I got it back two days later. The part that was needed was out of stock and that took an extra day for the repair to be completed. Nevertheless, the claim went smoothly and I was very happy with the way it was handled. In having my GWC warranty, I’m more confident that if something goes wrong, I've got something that will cover the repair cost. I told my brother that GWC's warranty is worth buying and he bought his warranty too.

GWC states they pay $70 per hour max for labor which is well below fair market. The salesman who sold me the warranty states they pay full labor costs at any "certified" mechanic at "industry standard" which I discovered is code for no they don't pay full labor costs. GWC will not pay for new or OEM parts, only for refurbished parts or some other pick and pull quality. GWC will not cover my valve cover gasket replacement even though it says they will in the contract I signed. Therefore I have a $1380 job on a newly purchased 2010 Toyota Tundra for which GWC states they will reimburse only $300, about 22%. GWC is located on the East Coast, and not open for West Coast customers after 2 pm PST. This is not worth the money I paid for the warranty and I want my money back. I can only imagine what it would take to get them to pay a claim for something catastrophic like a full transmission.

I purchased a service contract from GWC Warranty to cover potential additional repairs on the car. I chose them because of their customer review ratings and they were recommended by the dealer I was buying the car from. The purchase process was relatively simple and straightforward, and the person that helped me was knowledgeable with respect to the coverages. He explained it and it was easy to understand. He broke down the different service packages, the costing and the cost differentials for each one. It was comprehensive and in-depth and made deciding which coverage I wanted to purchase easier.
I had a repair situation that required some coverage and things went well. I gave the repairman the contract number and they handled everything. GWC responded accordingly and coordinated well with the shop. They were able to recoup the cost with the repair shop and all I had to do was pay the difference. Based on past experiences with other warranties, GWC's service is good. Moreover, they have the option of working with the dealer directly. With GWC, I didn't worry about any of the coverages that were under the package that I purchased. Their program was good and I was satisfied. I would absolutely recommend them.

My original warranty was up and the dealer where I bought my vehicle offered me GWC Warranty. The selling dealer was excellent and everything flowed smoothly. They had all the information on what plans and programs I might want to sign up for and which one matched my need. It was an easy experience. However, dealing with the rep every time I have a claim was a pain. It was like the money was coming out of their pockets. They didn’t explain what was covered and what wasn’t. They just said, “That’s not covered and we don’t cover that.” We waited four days to deal with them. They told us that they were gonna cover three quarters and they gave a depreciation value. We had to go through all the baloney.
GWC’s cost was not good with the quality of their service. We used the warranty four times on one vehicle and it was not cost-effective at all. When I went and bought an aftermarket for my truck, my truck had issues three weeks later. I brought it in the garage and they said it was due to me modifying the vehicle. I spent $100 on a guy to come over, survey my truck and it took an hour and a half of my time. So do not go with GWC.

This company is a scam. If you do plan on purchasing from them, know that they do not deem parts "broken until a point of catastrophic failure". For instance, my warranty covered every part within the engine of my car. After three months from purchase, I started losing compression in cylinder 3. 42% variance in compression and a leak down of 35%. This cylinder was immediately before catastrophic failure ie. broken piston ring takes out entire cylinder/short block etc.
I discussed the situation with GWC and they refused to cover a claim. I then asked that not if, but when this engine fails, they would cover the claim, they said most likely not due to no proof of preventative maintenance. REMINDER: I purchased this car from the dealer 3 months prior. What maintenance records would I possibly have? They fought tooth and nail till eventually I gave up and shelled out the money to rebuild the engine. Please be aware of the level of service you will receive with this company... NONE.

The old warranty on my vehicle had run out and I thought purchasing a vehicle service contract would be a smart idea in case something major went wrong with it. Also, any additional services seemed good at the time. GWC was the only thing offered and it was referred from a big car dealer where we got our car from. If they recommended GWC, then it should be good.
The dealership and their service rep that we went through dealt with my claim with GWC. The claim was for an alternator and the service dealer got it approved. Everything went well. It got fixed on a Saturday, which is understandable 'cause most of the dealerships and service people close at half a day. The only problem I had was getting a car rental. GWC would cover it, but by the time it got approved, the car rental places had all closed because it was a weekend. Nevertheless, I'm satisfied with GWC.

I’ve been with GWC Warranty for the past three years and the warranty has definitely come in handy. On at least three separate occasions on both my cars, I had been stuck on the side of the road and when I called GWC, they were able to get a tow truck to get my car. GWC has always been really responsive. The GWC people are are amazing. They help me out.
Recently though, I needed to take my car in and the reps were saying that the issue I was having was not covered. I wish I would’ve known that beforehand. The people who are selling the warranty needs explain in more detail what it covers instead of me having to call in and asking whether the issue is covered. They could also have a sheet that explains the benefits that come with the warranty. That aside, the only thing that took a while was on the mechanic’s end. They spent a week with my car. Nonetheless, the people at GWC are so nice, patient and helpful every time I call, no matter who I get. Even if they don’t know the answer right off the bat, they would check it for me. When I bought the car, GWC Warranty had a deal going on. It was fairly priced and relatively inexpensive. There was another level of coverage that had “seal coverage,” which would have covered more and would’ve been more expensive, but there wasn't a special deal for that one. If they were gonna do a deal for everything, they should have done a deal for all the various levels.
My mechanic takes care of dealing with the claims rep. He does all the stuff he has to do to get GWC Warranty to cover the issue and they would work with him well. The first set of repairs that I had was mostly for seals stuff that they denied or a thermostat where the whole unit had gotten replaced. When I called, their reps weren’t condescending, but they were not budging from their position even though a mechanic said that was how it was always done. And that bothered me.
I've had a couple of repairs that were a little questionable as GWC Warranty said they wouldn’t cover the repair, but it could’ve been that I didn’t buy the right extended coverage. There was a repair where a part had to be replaced and since the part had a seal on it, they excluded it. I was a little disappointed in that. I expected a bit better coverage, but I don’t think they were trying to screw me by doing what they said they would cover. I also recently had something happen which they covered. The warranty's quality is not bad and I’m happy with it.

Thank you for the feedback, Randy. If you're interested in upgrading to a higher level of coverage, you can contact your selling dealer to do so. Otherwise, we'll be here for you should you experience any other covered repairs!

The warranty covered the timing chain replacement.
Original Review: Aug. 15, 2018
In November 2017 I bought a 2010 Cadillac SRX. Got talked in by the sales guy, yup very good sales guy. Initially I wanted a GMC Terrain. Vehicle came with a GWC warranty through the dealer that covers me for 2 yrs or 25,000 miles. In April 2018, I had a check engine light on. I have an OBD2 tester I bought from Autozone a few years back and I checked the code, that kept coming up as a P0017 code. Which translates to Crankshaft Position - Camshaft Position Correlation Bank 1 Sensor 'B' or possible timing chain, from Google.
I took the vehicle to the GWC warranty preferred repair facility on Michigan Ave in Canton, MI (GWC warranty is honored by only couple of mechanical shops in Michigan. GWC warranty seems to be more widely used in PA where they are from and the Eastern USA). The shop held on to my vehicle for 2.5 weeks after initially quoting they will have it done in a couple of days. After repeated contacts with the GWC Warranty service center in Wilkes Barre PA by phone they somehow got them to expedite to 2.5 weeks to release my Cadillac. At that time I was informed by the mechanic that they fixed the rear hub's communication to the onboard computer and they felt that a timing chain is needed to be replaced and GWC told them they will replace the timing chain but to diagnose if it is a timing chain, I will have to pay out of pocket $550.
When I dropped the vehicle off, my ABS light was on, and the check engine. I requested the mechanics to fix those as well as check why the passenger side seat-belt feels too short. They gave me the vehicle back and the ABS light has been off thus far, and the check engine light constantly remains on. The seat-belt was not fixed, and my receipt states I declined all recommendations, however the mechanic never bothered to call me to tell me anything. And so far many months later the P0017 code comes up almost immediately if I hook up my OBD2 scanner. I've tried resetting the code and finally gave up, because it comes back on the next time I start the SUV.
Yes GWC Warranty covers a timing chain. But are we waiting for it to break before that happens? As I understand if the timing chain breaks while I am driving down the road, I lose the whole engine. Is the warranty covering me for an engine too? So you charge me a $100 deductible plus taxes to fix the vehicle, parts/labor etc is on you as the warranty but so far in my case I see GWC Warranty having declined me coverage on my ongoing issue, and I bought this vehicle with 96,600 miles and as of this writing I have 106,600 miles and the most major repair was never addressed. The peace of mind is frankly not there knowing that a check engine light is on and my $14,000 Cadillac could blow up in any moment. And should I go through GM they do not accept GWC Warranty, and the cost to replace the timing chain is $2900 out the door. Not the type of costs one expects after even buying a used vehicle with a warranty.

Suchet, I am sorry to hear about your timing chain issues and if there was any confusion surrounding the explanation of your problem. However, a teardown of your engine is required to determine if the timing chain is the root cause of your issues. Should a covered component be the cause of your mechanical failure, the cost of that engine teardown would be covered by your service contract. As our adjuster explained, it is highly recommended to explore the cause of your check engine light, since continuing to drive your vehicle could impact any future repairs to your engine. When we bought the car, GWC Warranty came with it. I was told that they have an aftermarket warranty and there it was. When my car needed a timing chain shortly after we got it, finding a shop that would deal with the insurance was a little difficult. There was one shop that I went through and they thought it was a bigger job than they wanted to do. Instead of just telling me that, they dragged me out for three weeks. I finally found a shop that was not even on GWC’s preferred list. The shops on their preferred list are the ones who failed me. The shop that I used should be on their preferred list instead because they did the work with no problem. Other than that, if a friend of mine asks me about me working with GWC, I would tell them to do it.

Repairs are so expensive that sometimes you can't afford a car because of the repairs. So, having a warranty helps to defray that potential. I'm with GWC and speaking with their customer service has been fine. However, I've tried to get work done for a couple of times and every time I did, there's always been a clause that allowed them to escape with me paying the bulk of the repair.
I filed a claim for a power steering pump which is a typical thing that one would be concerned with, so how that wasn't covered and why it wouldn't be covered beat me. Also, the way I was told, the warranty would be something I'd pay for then it would take care of everything. I even paid the extra to have no deductible. My power steering pump service cost $1,200. The pump and the labor were expensive, and just one of the hoses was expensive, they only cover the high-pressure but not the regular hoses. My vehicle is a Cadillac. Everything's expensive and you want those things to be taken care of, but they didn't. I also did some research and found that they're not the top of the list in terms of warranty services. I'll never buy GWC again nor would I recommend them.

Tyrone, I am sorry to hear about your experience. Our records show that your power steering pump was not covered due to rust that was found during inspection. Charles, I apologize for the experience you had during your repair. However, wear and tear items like batteries are rarely, if ever, covered by a vehicle service contract, which is designed to protect against mechanical failures. Also, the service was a lot better than I thought it was gonna be. I had GWC before and I had problems with them then but it was so long ago. When I had the lower ball joint fixed on the truck, the shop was the one that talked to GWC and from what they told me, the people at GWC seemed friendly. GWC got the stuff done and over with quickly too. They did a good job.

I bought a used vehicle and I had my garage look at it. They said it had some issue but it was a good price. I wanted to mitigate my risk so I went ahead and got the GWC warranty. My mechanic dealt with the major issues that were there at that time. We got that handled as soon as I handed over the vehicle to my daughter. A bunch of the engine lights came on so I took it to a dealer. Luckily I had the warranty but I still had to come out of pocket for about another $900 for some things that had to be fixed. The only thing that GWC took care of was a deferential which was part of the main Powertrain. So it was a little bit of an unexpected cost. They only covered one thing because of the kind of warranty I got.
The mechanic that did do it was reluctant to even do anything because he said a lot of those warranty places find a way to not pay at all, but he commented that he was surprised that they covered anything. So I've got somebody like him that had more experience with it that said GWC was better than average. At least they paid something. To me, I didn't know it because I know my total bill was $1,200 and they paid about $400. So I wasn't happy one way or the other but at least what I paid for wasn't $1,200. But I would tell others to get the kind that costs more and covers more if they were concerned about a vehicle that might be a little shaky coming from a used car lot.

Thank you for the honest feedback, Gralan. If you'd like to upgrade your coverage, you can speak with your selling dealer who can facilitate that process for you.

Previously, I had an extended warranty that I had a good experience with but that one was not offered anymore. I had a used BMW and I needed to protect myself so I purchased a service contract with GWC after it was offered at the dealership. The dealers told me that they thought it was the best one and gave me a brochure as well as a list of things that were covered depending on the extent of coverage that I took.
Working with GWC's claims or customer service has been fine. They have problems from time to time and they're expensive problems. Still, the couple of times I've needed the coverage, they have been approved as I expected and I never thought they were giving me a screwing. The claims are done all through the BMW service department and I didn't have to do anything. I’m looking at replacing my car with a newer car in the next year and I’ll definitely get an extended warranty with that one which will probably be GWC. If I couldn’t have the coverage, I would have gotten rid my the car by now. If someone is in a similar position to mine, it's a good idea to get GWC's warranty.

For my peace of mind, I purchased a vehicle service contract and the people I bought the truck off recommended GWC Warranty. I've already filed a couple of claims and then I've had the mechanic filed a couple. Usually, the mechanic will call them up, tell them what's wrong, and get the ball started. They cover the majority of the issues most of the time as long as it's in the warranty, but the mechanic is a little slow sometimes. The last claim was for an oil pump and the truck has been a total disaster. So, I'm definitely glad that I bought the warranty.

They want to argue and ** you around I have been waiting for 3 months to get them to approve the broken trans and now over a month for them to ship one. They are absolutely absurd to work with and every time you talk with someone they just lie to you saying your things have shipped and will be installed. The rental car situation is also a joke... if they ever get back to you to get one I have paid out of pocket myself for that as well for 4 months battling with them to fix what they covered under warranty and are just giving me the runaround on...

I paid $600 out of pocket and GWC only covered $300 so I'm not happy right now.

I had a friend who had a major issue with her vehicle shortly after she purchased it and she didn’t have any coverage, so not only did she owe the full amount, but she also had to pay a lot of money in repairs. GWC Warranty was the only provider offered by the dealership and GWC gave me a really good deal on the warranty. They took off a couple of hundred dollars and gave me a full package for the price of a lower package. It was an easy experience to sign up.
My first couple of claims were pretty easy. But with my last one, I got the runaround because GWC wouldn’t say whether it was covered or not and it was big job. It was a huge risk to jump in without knowing if I was gonna have coverage but it ended up being covered. The repair took three or four days and the job was done before they even expected.
By the time I used up my warranty, I was ahead as far as paying back the repairs. It would have cost more money than purchasing the warranty in the long run. But then, I have to have all that money upfront. You just pay for it when you buy the car over time. It’s more doable. The warranty gives a peace of mind. I don’t have to worry so much about major repairs. It’s worth doing it.

My GWC Warranty came with the older vehicle I got. It was for a pretty good price through the dealership I was working with. The dealer was great. He laid out that what I was getting was a used vehicle and gave me the price with the warranty. He laid out the pro's and con's and explained what the warranty covers and doesn't cover. Thus far, GWC's reps have been really helpful. They answer questions and tell me what my policy has. I asked them how to go about putting the service department through for claim regarding the alternator that went on the vehicle, they were really helpful in laying out the process. I just connected the warranty department with the mechanic and they handled it all. GWC covered what they said they were going to cover. Their warranty is worth it for the peace of mind.

It was taken care of right away and GWC Warranty covered all the cost except for the deductible. Moreover, I didn’t have to deal with them as the dealership had gotten on with all of that.

When I bought my truck, my dealer sold a GWC vehicle service contract to me. Now, I'm glad I bought it. A couple of weeks ago, a wheel bearing went out and even more recently, a water pump is also out. I talked to their rep one time and she said that the truck was covered. I took it to the garage I go to and he fixed the wheel bearing. I didn't have to do anything and the rep just told me to tell the garage to call her.
However, I didn't know that I had a deductible because in the paper it said "zero deductible. GWC doesn't tell their customers that there is only no deductible if they buy that feature in their pamphlet. It says in the back that you have to pay a deductible but on the page when you buy, there are green, yellow and a gray parts which are stages of insurance. The green part says: “Zero deductible.” At the back however, it says that if the customer didn’t buy that, then they have to pay the deductible. That's a bit vague and customers don't realize that cost as a deductible until they are done having the vehicle fixed. Still, it was only a hundred bucks which wasn't horrible. My truck is a 2012 model and it has broken down twice. As long as there are no issues and GWC covers the repairs and does what they say, I'd be happy. I'm glad I have the insurance and GWC is the easiest insurance company I've ever worked with.

The dealership looked up a quote for me and the GWC quote was cheaper and they cover more stuff than the other ones too. Filing a claim with GWC was very simple. I filed the claim with the repair shop for a specific part and they called GWC. They did the cleaning and it all worked out there. The car lot that I bought my vehicle from recommended GWC Warranty to me. I bought the vehicle and four days later, its transmission messed up. The motor messed up two days thereafter. I took the vehicle to EMCO and EMCO called GWC and talked to them and handled everything from there. Their customer service was a little slow but it was really good. At first, the shop wasn’t gonna get a new motor and they’re just rebuilding parts of it. But then they dropped the whole plan and said that shavings of the motor were hanging in there. So they had to take another side of the motor off and decided to order just another motor. I’ve been without a vehicle for about two months because I had to order a motor and it took over a week to get here. The shop went through the options to replace the transmission and they finally just rebuilt it.
GWC did a really good job of covering everything. There were a few minor details that I didn’t know about like the 30-70 on the laser, so I had to pay a little bit out of pocket on the actual motor. I also had to pay just $100 to get back to the shop. Though I had to pay almost $800 for different things with the motor, I’m really pleased. They’ve done everything that needed to be done. They called me and kept me updated with what’s going on. I’ve had really good interactions with GWC. I like knowing that if I’ve had an issue, they would take care of it. They’ve actually done the motor and transmission, so I should have a very good vehicle for a long time. I recommend GWC Warranty if you’re buying a used vehicle.

When I first bought my Mercedes, the warranty had zero deductible, had all the bells and whistles and everything was nice. The original warranty was through the dealer by GWC. The guy that sold me the extended warranty, once the original was up, told me it was the same warranty but I gotta hop on it now and if I didn't, the price might go up. I gave it a few days after the original conversation and I called back and said that I'd do it because my warranty was almost up and I didn't wanna be uncovered. So they did the breakdown again.
Then I had a situation with my car. I took the car in and the dealer contacted me. They told me I had a $100 deductible. I said that didn't sound right. At that moment, I was already there and had my car looked at so I went ahead and I paid the $100 deductible as well as the balance that was left over from the stuff that wasn't covered. When they replaced a specific part, they had one of the oils out. And the warranty only covered a certain amount. I had built a relationship with the Mercedes in Timonium to the point where they didn't even charge me for the additional oils and a couple of other things they looked out for me for. Then they told me that my warranty didn't cover this, which was strange because the last warranty covered it.
I'm not with GWC Warranty anymore and canceling was no problem, but they had a couple of people call me to find out why I canceled. I told them I felt that it was like a bait and switch. They told me one thing and then did something else. The person that originally spoke to me about the warranty before I signed called me back and said it was discussed because it was a fine print thing at the end of the conversation. For the money that I spent on the warranty, I could've put that aside and actually pay for the damages myself. On top of that, they wanted me to pre-pay when I first signed up. I kept up my end of the bargain and I felt like I was duped. I would never put somebody in the same position.

Kenneth, I am sorry to hear that were unhappy with your experience and that your contract's terms were not clearly explained to you. The $100 deductible is standard on all of our contracts and can be waived for a one-time fee if you so choose. However, our records do show a covered repair of more than $1,200. I apologize if this did not eliminate all of the out-of-pocket expenses for you due to the cost of either parts or labor. We rely on decades of data to understand fair prices for labor and parts, and our reimbursement rates are set as such to protect our customers. I'm sorry to hear that you cancelled your contract, but should you ever again require vehicle service contract coverage, we will be happy to help protect your Mercedes. Thank you for bringing your situation to our attention and we will be sure to work toward more clearly explaining the terms of coverage.

Anurag, I apologize for any inconvenience you experienced. However, the fuel pump you needed repaired is not a covered component on the coverage level you purchased. We have many coverage levels that do cover fuel pumps, but unfortunately the service contract you purchased does not. As for cancellations, we ask that you return to the dealer from whom you purchased the service contract to ensure that you receive the proper refund amount if any is due. I'm sorry for this inconvenience and if our policies were not adequately explained to you. Thank you for your message, and please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you.

I purchased from GMC and had an easy experience. I also have an old vehicle and its warranty was out. GMC Warranty was the only one offered at the dealership and in a way, I was also checking on it. I went through the two mechanic shops that deal in auto repair, informed them about the vehicle in particular, and they each had the thing to say about the warranty company. So, I went and bought an extended warranty from GMC. The dealer explained all of the brochure of the various options from a normal coverage up to an express coverage where it covered almost everything.
The minimum coverage to the extended coverage plan cost $600 and I'm glad I got the warranty. One time, I took my car to my mechanic's shop and when I turned it over to him, he called GWC to get approval to make the repairs. Then, I never heard another word back from him until it was time to come pick my vehicle up. Also, the only out-of-pocket cost was $100 activation fee which wasn’t terrible. The claim was for the A/C compressor and the repair took two days but that was mainly because my car is a BMW and the mechanic had to order the parts. Otherwise, it was within the normal range of getting a vehicle with an air-conditioning system repaired and the wait was worth it.
Everybody in my household has a BMW. It’s not an inexpensive vehicle to get repairs for because we'd be going through the dealership. But there’s so much covered in the GWC warranty that I wouldn't take a shock anymore when I take the vehicle into a repair. If all future claims go as easily as the first one I made, then I’m gonna do my business with GWC again if it’s available in the open market.

Read the fine print! We purchased an extended warranty from GWC when we bought our truck. The transmission went out and needs replacement. GWC informed us that they will not pay to have the existing transmission rebuilt nor will they pay to have a new transmission put in. They said they located a used transmission (with 98000 miles on it) and that was what they will pay for. They told me that if I wanted the existing transmission rebuilt then I would have to cover the extra cost (which is more than double of what they would pay).
Also, (according to my mechanic) the amount they would pay did not cover the complete cost to install the used one. When I asked how they based what they would cover, they said that they used the "AllData Labor Guide" per terms of my contract. When I asked if I could see the guide, they said "no" but that I could call "AllData". When I called AllData, they told me that they are a paid service and that I would have to pay a fee and sign up to access that information. Therefore the full and true terms of our contract with GWC are not found solely in the contract itself. But instead, they are held in part by a third party source that we (even before signing) are not permitted to access unless we pay a fee.

Aaron, I am sorry to hear about your transmission experience. I understand that major repairs like can make for a stressful time. As you have learned, the contract you purchased does cover parts of like kind and quality in the event of a repair. We do this to manage costs for you both when purchasing your initial contract and when completing repairs. Also, the AllData guide for parts and labor estimates is an industry standard by which most certified repair facilities abide as well, which is why we choose that source to help protect our customers from exorbitant repair costs. Again, I apologize for the issues you encountered during your repair. Should you encounter any other issues, we will be here to help you overcome those as well. Thank you for your message.

I had a little bit of trouble with the coverage and it might have been because I hadn’t done anything quite like it before. I had to move my vehicle to another garage in order to get the actual coverage, which I understand. It was pretty expensive at $90 an hour and sensed that GWC didn’t want to cover it there. It took a while to complete the repair and it was under expectations but a lot of the issue was the length in trying to get a new engine. Talking to people and trying to get the claim took two weeks. But it worked out pretty well and it was alright.

When I had the oil changed on my truck, it started creating a rattle. So, I filed a claim with GWC Warranty. I took the vehicle to the shop in less than a week then the guy there checked it out. He pulled the plug out and put a new one in there. But I came to find out that there was something inside it that messed up the motor. The warranty covered everything except for the cost of the timing kit. So, I still paid $1,100 for the motor. The guy that did the mechanical work on the truck submitted everything and he didn't have any problems. But GWC paid $4,700 for the repair and when it came right down to it, they could've gotten a new motor for $3,500. However, they said they didn't want to do that. Other than that, there was a return on the cam and there was a $100 deposit on it. The guy was supposed to come pick it up from Grand Rapids but it's still sitting at the shop.
With GWC, it feels good to have a truck. If something happens, the expense wouldn't come out of my pocket and that makes a big difference, especially if you're making a truck payment and your truck breaks down, then you gotta pay another $600-$700. I paid $1,100, but I got almost a brand-new motor out of it, so I have no complaint. I'm happy.

When the air conditioner was out a little over a month ago, I filed a claim with them and their reps wanted to argue with the mechanic. It took a lot of negotiating on the mechanic's side and GWC's reps were dragging their heels not wanting to allow any of the repair. It made me doubt if the warranty was worth it.
But we finally got things resolved. GWC paid part of the repair cost and I ended up having to pay $400 out of what it was. So, I was still happy. But if they hadn't done anything, I would have been very dissatisfied with what I got because I paid for the warranty and it wasn't cheap, so I expected it to be something I could use. I started out paying $1,800 for it, then it went over $2,000. I could've paid for my repairs with that but I invested it in this warranty so that I would have some peace of mind and something as a back-up.

GWC Warranty came through and I'm satisfied with them. The warranty came with my car. You need a warranty coming from purchasing your car. You need extended warranty and warranties that you can get because of the parts and the labor, and then when you buy an expensive car, that adds to it. I purchased my vehicle three years ago. It’s a used vehicle and my car salesman suggested having GWC Warranty for our car so we went with it. He had originally gotten us with another company and then he called me back a couple of days later. The car had 106,000 miles on it and a lot of companies weren’t after 100,000 but because this was a Lexus, he said that he got it qualified through GWC. They signed me up at the car dealership. They got it written into my loan and gave me the paperwork to sign and that was it. There was no shopping around on my part. I just followed the advice of a car salesman.
I’ve never had to deal anything with GWC until the claim that just happened this past week. My mechanic had written down the wrong mileage for the last claim. We had looked down on it. And so, the mechanic shop tried to say that it was out of warranty. I know I’m getting close, but I’m not out of warranty. So I ended up having to take a picture of my odometer and send it to somebody at GWC. My mechanic gave me the email that I needed to send the picture to. I asked them to please let me know that it had been received. And within 10 minutes, somebody emailed me back saying that it had been received. They ended up approving the claim. They were taking me out of expired warranty and they would be getting in touch with my shop to let them know to go ahead and do the work. It all went really well.
I’ve never had a problem with GWC and I wish it lasts forever. I used to take my vehicle to the Lexus dealership to do the work but they didn't want to. They just kept telling me that this isn’t covered. I don’t think they were dealing with a warranty company even though they claimed that they do. So then, when I started taking it to a different mechanic, all these things that had been building up that Lexus dealership was telling me was not covered, this mechanic got it all covered. Nevertheless, I would recommend GWC to my friends and would tell them that having GWC is worth the money. I don’t know what it’s actually costing me out of pocket per month but it’s just written into my loan and it didn’t jack my loan up all that much.

Thank you for the review, Peggy! We always try to go the extra mile to help customers when we can, and I'm glad to hear that was the case with your experience!

I wanted a warranty for my car to cover the eventuality that it would need expensive repairs. GWC was the warranty that was offered by the dealer and the experience has been horrible and I've been anything but happy with the warranty. GWC refused to authorize a warranty coverage for the work that was done on my vehicle even though it should have been authorized the first time. So, I took it to another service provider and they authorized the repair but they authorized it at the wrong dollar level. They only covered $70 an hour of labor and my warranty package is authorized to a $105 an hour. It still hasn't been resolved and I have a feeling that I'm going to get completely screwed when I pick up my car today. I'll wait 'til this warranty works itself out to see if it's resolved in my favor. If not, I would never recommend it.

John, I am sorry to hear about your experience and I have escalated this to one of our claims managers to investigate this further. This is absolutely the worst!!! I bought what was suppose to be the best warranty #GWC for my BMW 335. The guy David ** I asked over and over about the exclusions and he said they are what they are on the sheet, which wasn't too much. I read them. They were wear and tear items. So I have my first visit to BMW and crap hits the fan. They didn't cover the whole cost of the claim. They say, "You can take it anywhere. You sure can and pay out of pocket all kinds of extra cost." They don't cover all the diagnostic cost, parts beside a main part no other little parts that connect to it or accessory parts with the main item. I spent more time arguing with them to pay little bit of it than my time has been worth.
4 days now arguing with this sorry company. David ** who works for GWC is a just a yes to get the sale!!! He is salary so he could care less what he sells and screws people over with! They are like every other warranty company. Useless. I have spent days arguing with them. First claim ever. They just hide behind paperwork that obviously is very well worded vague! He said, "We have been in business for years!!!" I'm sure you are when you screw people over and take the money then not want to pay what you're supposed to pay! #crooks #GWCWARRANTY #neveragain

Joshua, I apologize for the experience you had with your most recent repair and the additional costs you feel should have been covered. In setting our reimbursement rates for labor costs, we rely on decades of experience and research of local markets to determine a fair labor reimbursement rate. Unfortunately, the shop you chose charges one of the highest labor rates in your area, which exceeded the rate at which your contract reimburses. We apologize for any ambiguity you felt existed in the components that were covered, but after researching your case, we feel that the claim paid in excess of $700 is in line with the coverage outlined on your contract. We'd be happy to walk through all of these policies with you if you'd like. You can reach a claims manager at 1-800-482-7357 x6111. I got the GWC warranty with the car that I bought and the salesman explained to me what the warranty was but it wasn’t that at all. So, my experience, at the beginning, was not what I expected it to be. When my car broke and my transmission went out, I had to come out of pocket over $400. And I wasn’t supposed to even have a deductible. And on top of that, I was told by the car salesman that there was a $5,000 budget towards the transmission and there wasn’t. I called the shop and it was $55,000 for a transmission. GWC paid $1,000 for a used transmission instead of me getting the rebuilt one. And then they didn’t really want to give me a warranty on the transmission for three months.
It was my first time to file a claim. The process of submitting my claim was fast, and I was to get a rental car too if the labor was eight hours. But my car was there for four days and I could not get a rental car because the labor was six points. The shop said it was 10 hours' worth of labor but the warranty said it was 6.5 hours' worth of labor. So, I had to borrow a car. I had kids in school so those were four days of putting me out of money and the situation put me in a bad space. I spoke to a rep during the claim process and he was really cut-and-dry. He was like, "This is what it is." I have Lincoln Navigator in the transmission and my navigator happens to be a BMW transmission. And him having a hard time finding the transmission that would pass for good some kind of warranty on it for me, was just not what I expected it to be. I wish that the warranty was explained to me a little better. Don’t let GWC be your first choice.

Tamarra, I am sorry to hear about your experience. While your shop may have quoted you some different costs and labor times, our reimbursements are based on decades of experience with these kinds of repairs and we base our estimates on fair labor times and parts costs for needed repairs. I always buy used cars and I always buy warranties on them. It's proven to be a safety net that we enjoy having on our cars. We bought GWC Warranty because it was the one that the dealership pushed and said that the most comprehensive coverage was through their plan. Also, we bought it since I don't like the surprise of having a financial hit when something major goes wrong with the car. When purchasing the service contract, we saw the brochure and looked at the coverage. We also looked at the small print and the price and bought it.
I tried to get the dealership to come down on the labor cost to see what GWC would reimburse for later cost. Since my car was a BMW, the dealership charged $150 an hour, so GWC had a cap on it. That made sense to me but I still tried to get the dealership to come on their price and they wouldn't. We got it fixed nonetheless, and GWC covered what was expected.
So far, we have filed a claim for a bunch of things. The air conditioner wasn't cooling and the engine was cutting out so the car was in the shop for three weeks. I even tried to negotiate since I just bought the car from one of those smaller dealerships so it always had problems with it. It was good that the GWC warranty did not have any kind of 30-day waiting period so they covered it. Although there were some things that they wouldn't cover that made sense, there were some things I had to pitch in some money to fix it, even though the dealership should have fixed it before I bought the car. There shouldn't have been things wrong with the car.
And while the quality of the service is good, the cost is not something I can negotiate on. It is what it is. The only thing I can do is negotiate with the dealer and negotiate on different things with the selling dealer and the warranty. In my experience, it's always been positive when I look over the life of the cost of repairs that are covered by the warranty. I typically come out ahead over the life of going the vehicle so that's why I always get a warranty. All in all, GWC is a fine company and they should keep covering the claim as I keep submitting them.

Thank you for the review, Robert! It has been our pleasure to help with your repairs, and we will be here should you require any more unexpected mechanical failures with your BMW.

I was going to another dealer and got there and things didn't go, so I went to South Deal and everything went well and right on schedule. But they gave me a pamphlet instead of explaining the coverage. When I took the vehicle in the first time, they called to ask me the reason for taking the car in and everything went from there. The claims were for the ABS light which was on and the StabiliTrak. Once they got the approval from GWC, they did the repairs the same day.

We bought a used vehicle and it was expensive, so we thought it was best to protect that investment with a warranty. The dealer that we were working with had several auto warranty providers that he worked with and when we looked them over, it appeared that GWC Warranty was the best of them overall, coverage-wise. I had the pamphlet and we flipped through it and checked everything - what was covered and what wasn’t. We had a different provider with my wife's Chrysler and so far, it hasn’t covered anything on hers. GWC is definitely better because it covered the only thing that we had on it.
I filed a claim for a collapsed lifter that was an engine issue and they covered it. It took one day to order the parts. They got them in so it was done in three days total and the repair was completed. The GWC Warranty service was fantastic. I was very pleased that everything was covered and it was done in a quick fashion. The only issue that I saw was that the hourly rate they allow for the mechanic's work is $70 and the GM dealership charges more so I had to cover the difference. But knowing that in the future, I won't go to the GM dealership, I'll go to somebody else that charges the $70 or somewhere thereabouts. I feel great since purchasing the GWC Service Contract. We took our vehicle on long trips and I was definitely more confident driving it. I would definitely recommend GWC and I would tell my friends what my situation was and how well I was taken care of.

We had bad luck recently with cars, so we wanted some additional assurances. GWC was offered to us in the dealership and so that was the one we went with. When we filed a claim, I wasn't super pleased. We called and asked if there were specific locations that we had to take the car to, that they would approve. They said any BMW Dealership. We took it to a BMW Dealership and then they came back and said, "Well, their labor rates are higher than what we approved. So, you have to take it to another one or you could pay the difference." They shouldn’t say any dealership if it was not.
Overall, they paid out maybe $1,000 worth of the whole claim and we had to pay about $700 additional, which sucks, but it is what it is. But they still did cover a good chunk that we didn't have to cover. And there was a reasonable timeframe. Once the guy got the approval from the warranty and started the work, he finished it in one or two days. He just needed us to pay our part before he could submit the rest of it and GWC paid theirs within 24 hours after we did.

I like having a warranty to help as I generally buy used cars and try to get reasonably low mileage ones for the age that they are. It helps me stay a little more comfortable about keeping the vehicle longer. I purchased a service contract from GWC for my 2006 Chevy TrailBlazer because I wanted the protection of having some of the major repairs paid for with the deductible if they occur and they were recommended by the dealership. I've had other warranty providers and the price is pretty comparable. GWC presented different options, different deductible levels, different coverage levels and matched the one that I thought I could afford and the one that I wanted for the vehicle.
My interactions have all been through the dealers. They do all the contacting and pretty much take care of it. I've not had to intervene or discuss the warranty with anybody and that's why I'm happy with it. I had a claim early on where the timing chain needed to be replaced. Then recently, an issue with ball joints on the front end that went bad. I had to wait to schedule it and it took about two weeks to get it in, but the repair was done in one day. I just left the car there and let them work on it. The ball joints in and of themselves were about $1,000, so it saved me a little money. Relatively speaking, GWC charges a lot of people for the warranty work that may or may not happen. From that perspective, the law of large numbers would seem that they're making some money on it, but it's also saving me and I'm happy with that.

But when my car had something that needed to be fixed, they told me they only put aftermarket pieces in the car and they don't pay for original parts. So, I was surprised and I was shocked and I wasn't really happy with that. Had GWC mentioned anything about only covering for aftermarket parts, I wouldn't even have bought this warranty. I'd rather pay for my part than have an aftermarket part in my car. And that was the only time that something happened to my car.
There was a part that they did not want to cover and I was having issues with that lately and it needed to be changed. But I have to wait until the part breaks down on me. It's like the car is not going to be running in order for me to able to replace that part even though I got check engines saying the part is not functioning very well. And when the water pump broke down on me and the car was overheating, I tried to file a claim on it and get GWC to get me a new part. But they said that they're not gonna cover the original part. Everyone dealt with the claim whoever we sent it to they would call and deal with the claims so we had no problem. We like GWC so much that we upgraded the car that we just bought to the next level and it would be the exclusionary coverage instead or maybe the comprehensive. I've known them from before since I used to take my other car there all the time. I only called GWC's customer service one time for towing and the lady was nice. I gave her my location but then the person who was towing the car got something mixed up. GWC people came hours later but everything went all right and then they took the car to the mechanic. And whenever I had a problem, I will take it to the mechanic who was the same guy who sold me that extended warranty and then he will let me know what needs to be fixed. Then the mechanic will talk to GWC people personally and I never had to call them and make a claim.
I had a great experience with GWC Warranty, and I was very satisfied with the turnaround. They took care of the claims I got but my mechanic always tells me that GWC doesn’t pay the taxes. I didn’t have any deductible then later on GWC said that I still need to pay taxes. It had to come out of pocket when I paid my action money when I got my car. I have a six-year-old used vehicle. The dealer offered GWC but they misinformed me about the price of it in the first place. I told them that I don't want just the basic powertrain. I wanted the next one above it. And then, when I was reading over my contract, I found out that they sold me the wrong one. I had to go back up to them and pay the difference in price for the contract. But they also caused me to have to pay a lot of out of pocket expenses because my car has already needed to be repaired. I had to get a new transmission on my car so I filed a claim. Still, I didn’t do the process. I just dropped it off at the mechanic shop and they did it.
However, the issue was not fully covered. The mechanic found the transmission for my car and GWC is not gonna beat the price. But they found one that had more miles on it than my car did and tried to give me that one, and the mechanic talked to GWC about it. They told him to ask me if I was willing to pay the difference because they weren’t paying any more than what the part they found cost. So I had to pay the difference in between that and what the mechanic shop was charging for the one they found.
The repair took about a week to finish. Also, I still don’t even know if GWC has my updated warranty in place. The last time I talked to them, they said that they still didn’t, but the dealership said that they faxed it to them three different times. And then, after they told me that they didn’t have it, they said even if they have it, they are not gonna cover the services that needed to be done to my car because it was pre-existing before I got the upgrade. But it wasn’t. So, I’m glad I got the warranty and I didn’t have to pay for a transmission, but basically, that’s as far as my liking is going with them.

I've had good experience with BMW in the past but this time, I did not. Maybe it was the car, or it was the gentleman or a combination of both of them. While the other people at the dealership were nice, I got a feeling that this one gentleman was slippery.
Going back, I found everyone at GWC Warranty magnificent. I was told that the repair was gonna cost me personally a lot more than it actually did. I contacted GWC because I was told that the repair was about a $5,500 repair, which seemed high and it's because I was told at the dealership that it's a different part. And I couldn't believe that it wasn't a major part that was covered. I spoke to Tony and there was a woman in the GWC back office and they were very, very helpful. They made everything clear. In fact, they explained very clearly that it was exactly the same part and that the difference in price of $1,500 to $2,000 was just a markup from the BMW dealership. It infuriated me that they were making it up, that it was something else but it wasn't, and that there was a difference in the quality of the part that was what accounted for the price when that was just rubbish.
Still, the people at GWC were right because the final pricing ended up just what they said it would be, not what the BMW dealer told me. So I was very, very happy with them. They did everything that they said they would. In fact, they told me about more things that they would cover than the dealer did. And for my experience, I would buy another contract again.

Thanks for the review, Joseph! I'm glad to hear that your BMW is back on the road and that we were able to help make the repairs more affordable for you!

I have a used car and a GWC warranty came with the financial company that I went through. Then the transmission was messed up in my truck. I talked to the GWC customer service rep before the day the claim was done and after, and they were kind in both times. All I did was take my truck to the dealer, and then they contacted the warranty people through the paper I gave them. GWC Warranty paid for that, so they did their job. I have had the loader car for a little over a week now. Also, I would recommend GWC to a friend.

I was forced to purchase a contract from GWC Warranty and I've been with them for a year now. I purchased the contract at the dealership and my experience with the selling dealer was either I buy the contract or they're not selling me a car. GWC gives a bigger kickback so that’s the one the dealership uses. I used to work for a dealer and I know how it works. In terms of dealership's knowledge of the program, they were horrible. When I spoke to the claims and customer service reps at GWC, they said that my tires are 7/8 of an inch too big and the dealership could have told me that the contract I purchased doesn’t cover it.
It was right there in the contract and there was not a single thing I can do about it but it would've just been nice to know. I have a lifted jeep and because they didn’t pay the extra fee, I just replaced the entire engine in it. And because it’s lifted, the suspension wasn’t right and I had to do all the suspension myself. GWC turned me down twice. The second I got a lawyer then they changed their tone and they covered the rear end and engine.

Barry, thanks for the review. I'm glad things worked out with the rear end and engine!

My vehicle is 10 years old and it has 190,000 miles on it. There would be things that would come up and it's better to purchase a vehicle service contract than to have to pay it out of pocket. The dealership that I went to deals with GWC Warranty and our salesman explained the benefits to me. He did a very good job of showing us everything that GWC Warranty covers and doesn’t cover.
However, my auto shop of choice where I've been going for 30 years won’t deal with GWC Warranty because of the way things have gone in the past. Prior to paying by credit card where they call it in and they get paid right away, the auto shop was waiting three to six months for a check. Although GWC Warranty is contacting him and trying to work something out. And so we’ll see if the new system works better.
Then about two weeks ago, I had the vehicle in the shop and the shop happened to be one of the dealerships in the dealership group that I bought the car from. We went through and dealt with everything. The dealership called GWC Warranty, got the approval, did the work, and I paid the difference. With what’s been done to the truck already, I’m absolutely loving the quality of the service that I received from GWC Warranty.

Thanks for the review, Howard! We're glad to hear that your repair went smoothly, and we'll continue to work with your regular shop to see that future repairs can happen at that location.

When I bought a used vehicle, the dealership offered the option of whether I want an auto warranty or not and then they suggested the GWC warranty. GWC's customer service was nice when I talked to them and they answered my questions. However, the dealership had a bit of a problem when I had my car fixed. It took four days to get the repairs made and it was longer than my expected time frame. Other than that, the whole experience was good. I like the quality of the warranty service and it's definitely worth it.

When we bought the car, the dealer said that having an auto warranty is a good thing. He said a few words about the auto warranty, and although we thought we’d never need it, we said, “Okay. Why not?" So I accepted and indeed, we needed the warranty. GWC Warranty is very good, responsive and helpful. As soon as they were informed that the car has had things that are not good, they acted very quickly and approved everything. They covered everything and the quality of the warranty service is a very good thing. I like GWC Warranty and I would probably renew it.

My first experience with GWC wasn’t too good but this last time was alright. The first time they kind of screwed me over because they didn't want to pay all the labor rate. They only want to pay $100 an hour and I don't know too many shops that are at that rate. At four dealerships around here they’re at least $120. So I paid all the money for labor. But GWC helped when I had to put a radiator in my truck because that would have been a $1,700 bill and I ended up paying about $570. It's all right if the claim is exactly what they say it covers. But they don't budge any. As for GWC's reps, one guy was kind of an ** but then I spoke to another one that wasn't too bad. But I probably wouldn't get GWC again.

Taylor, thank you for the feedback. I apologize for any issues around labor rate. Unfortunately, the labor rate reimbursement is selected by the dealer who sold you the contract and we must reimburse at that rate in the event of a claim. We look forward to helping you should you encounter any more mechanical issues with your vehicle.

The vehicle is about 10 years old and we wanna play it safe and make sure that any occurrences that will happen with the vehicle within a year should be covered. So, based on the age and mileage of the vehicle itself, we purchased a warranty. GWC Warranty was what was offered at the dealership and the purchase experience for the contract was really good. I wanted to know some basics of what the warranty covered and that was discussed. It felt like a good fit.
Sure enough, within two weeks, we had an issue already with the vehicle and that was covered under the warranty. It was unfortunate that we had to experience the issue during the first two weeks of owning the vehicle but I was glad that we purchased the warranty. Some of the expenses were paid out-of-pocket but the warranty came in handy. It saved us a ton of money. And looking at the bill and what we paid for the contract, the warranty already paid itself off.
We went straight to the dealer because the car was practically a new purchase. They notified the appropriate people through the warranty corporation as well as the service department. The dealer handled everything regarding that warranty issue and I didn’t even have to call GWC Warranty to see it all. The dealer was not acting as the middlemen going back and forth the warranty office and myself. Everything was handled quickly and efficiently. We were satisfied with the overall process.

Thanks for sharing your No Worries, Just Drive experience, Andrew. It was our pleasure to help get you back on the road quickly.

I got a power steering that was leaking fluid. I just looked at the gasket and I had an over leak. When my car was at the Nissan place, their people had leaked so much oil and they couldn’t really see where it was coming from. The dealer told me it isn't covered and they explained to me why. When I’m reading through the paperwork, it breaks down what’s covered under what. The one I read looked like it says it covers gaskets and stuff. I don’t know why it’s not covered. The problem is the oil leak. Whether it comes from gaskets or not, it would blow that motor and if that happens, GWC is gonna have to end up replacing my whole motor for $3,000 so why not pay $300, $400 and fix it? It should’ve been covered under the warranty.
They told me that whenever I get the chance to clean it off and come back, they could try to find out and see where it was coming from. There's a cracked valve cover gasket so I purchased a valve cover and I gotta put it on. So, I’d do that and if there’s a cracked valve cover, clearly nobody took a hammer under there. It’s just a cracked valve cover that’s leaking oil. I gotta take the vehicle back but I got to find out where that power steering fluid is coming from. Other than that, the warranty itself is pretty good.

The dealer suggested that I get a service contract for my vehicle and I asked them if they offered any warranty. They showed me GWC Warranty's booklet and I liked what was on there. They told me that that warranty is good and that it covers a lot of things. My experience was straightforward and quick. I just signed up some papers and everything was set. When my transmission didn't shift into drive, I called their customer service reps and I told them what had happened and they told me to take it to one of the stations that they had listed.
I got to one of their listed stations and told the people there that I was filing a claim for the GWC warranty. They took my keys and told me to come back a week later. When I came back, I thought they would have it ready but they ended up taking another week and a half. But everything was taken care of and I was happy with the cost. It was a good price for all of the parts that it covers. My confidence level is way higher now and I feel that if anything happens, I don't have to worry. I can just call them for anything. I've already recommended GWC to a lot of people.

I have a used vehicle, so I never know what could go wrong with it. GWC Warranty is an awesome company. I did some research and they had the highest good reviews. Even though I bought a used car, I feel like they didn't look it over thoroughly because I shouldn’t, within a month, be at the shop. And I haven't had the time to enjoy the car. I'm just paying the car insurance without even driving it. But they did awesome though, for helping out with the oil leak situation. They called me and asked what's the problem, so I explained it to them. Then, they got back to the dealer and then they gave me a call to say if they can do it or not with the warranty. They ended up doing it because they're really good. If I would have picked another warranty, I probably would have gotten screwed.
However, their rep was always trying something out of you more, something that probably I wouldn't have needed. I told him, "I just want this repaired and that's it. I don't wanna see an oil leak because I'm paying that much." One thing I did not understand is that GWC only pays 100 bucks an hour or so. Mercedes charges $130 an hour. I just had to pay the difference, which came out like $500 something out of my pocket. The warranty covered most of it, but I still had to pay out of my pocket, which I was pretty bummed about because I know it shouldn't even be like that. I haven't even had the car for two months and I'm already dumping money into it.
Hopefully, that's the last time I use GWC because I don't wanna make it a habit. I wanna enjoy the car for what it's worth. I paid a lot of money for it and I don't want things to keep breaking down especially oil leak. If you have an oil leak, that's like the blood of the engine. You do not have any oil and now you're dumping another 10 grand for repairs. Besides that, with GWC, I don't even care if my car breaks down because I know they got my back. The people that I spoke to were really polite. They explain it to you really well, like I was face-to-face, not just over the phone. If GWC is available through your dealer or you can get it, the warranty pays itself off. If I can get it more, I will do it.

Thanks for the review, Kastriot!

My vehicle might have some maintenance situations that I thought a warranty would be a good service to use. GWC works well with local dealerships. I shop local all the time and we have some very good non-branded dealerships. They are more like specialists in used cars and I have a Mercedes Benz. And I've had experience with GWC before and they seemed to be very thorough in how they qualify the repair and they are very fair about it as well. I can go to any service shop I want but they have to be authorized to repair my car. I couldn't just go to the corner or to the guy that changes the oil. I have to pick their mechanics to a certain extent. I want to make sure that I'm either dealing with a brand dealership or with a company that's authorized or has the qualification. So there is some selectivity but I'm not forced to deal with their dealership, I can go anywhere in the country.
If you buy cars and get extended warranties through dealerships, they try to get you to put it as part of the financing. You really don't know what it costs most of the time, but with GWC, it was very clear to me that it was going to be about $2,700. I also knew the vehicle has to be $80,000 or $90,000. It extended a 50,000-mile warranty on to a car that had 60,000 or 55,000. At that point, I knew that if something went wrong with the air suspension system which is in this particular model, it would be worth about $2,000. And it was what happened. The repair was over $2,000 and my out of pocket was about $200. I thought it was a good deal.
I would tell a friend that my experience with GWC was straightforward. I get exactly what I'm paying for. They cover what they say they'd cover and I like that the repair shop does not start the work without getting the authorization from GWC. Other warranties will represent to cover something and then you let them go ahead and do it. And then, they say they only cover half of that because the other half didn't show up in a code or on the computer and you're stuck with a big bill. GWC doesn't do that. They validate just like an MRI at the doctor. You have to get pre-qualified before you get the MRI for it to be covered by insurance. This company does the same thing with the repair.

Young adults seem to have more issues than not so I wanted to make sure that my son was covered. It's a little more security for myself knowing that if anything happens he is protected. The seller said GWC seems to be the better of the ones that he offered. I asked initially if GWC offered an extended warranty packet at any point and the selling dealer said yes. Then the conversation began regarding the coverage. He went through the three different options that I had. Some had minimal coverage, some had a little bit more coverage and then there was one that had full coverage. He also explained the deductibles associated to them and allowed me to make my choice based on that information.
We did have a claim and we were grateful that we got that warranty. I basically followed the instructions that were given on the GWC contract. It stated to call if we had any mechanical issues. They suggested not to drive the vehicle and to utilize the tow service that was provided along with the coverage. I also got a call from one of their adjusters, asking primary questions regarding what happened, at which point he suggested we take it in and gave me the explanation of the shop needing to start the claim.
They suggested some local facilities to my area. I asked if I could take it to the dealership and they explained that that was a possibility however there was a cap on the hourly rates and parts, and I may have to come out of pocket with some other services rendered or residual based on what they would reimburse. Then I told them that I had a shop chosen. He said that was perfectly fine and to have the shop call them with their information.
The vehicle was taken to the service shop at which point they contacted GWC. I asked my mechanic if GWC Warranty had contacted them and he said that he couldn't get a hold of the warranty company. But there was a miscommunication on his part. There was an outage on 'cause of snow in Philadelphia and the warranty company was closed early. I called and that was what was explained over the voicemail. I called on Sunday the following available date and the gal answered. There was no claim then but they said to let the mechanic know to please call them and not to go ahead and start it. But that was the only delay which was a day or two. I didn't have any issues when it came to calling or getting some responses. And it was a very pleasant experience on the mechanic's side as well. I would recommend GWC.

When my repair shop spoke with a claims adjuster, he told them it was an unauthorized repair because of that and they wouldn’t pay... End of story. Very poor in my opinion, but I realize that’s how they’re trained. I called and spoke to Tory (a manager) and explained the situation. He was very understanding and said that they would cover the repairs they felt were necessary as a “goodwill gesture.” So overall, I was happy that the leadership was helpful, but wish they would train their adjusters to be a bit more professional (should have passed my repair people over to someone above him that could make a better decision).

Takes inspector 4 days until he can get to the dealership (that's 4 days without a vehicle). "Yes," says the inspector, "the transmission needs replaced." Is Guardian going to replace with a new one - NO. Will they replace with a certified refurbished transmission - NO. Where is my replacement transmission coming from you ask? A SALVAGE YARD! Statement of complaint: I bought a 2002 Volvo S60 from an individual (private party) and accordingly transferred his warranty into my name. This warranty was with Guardian Corporation.
Unfortunately, I had to have the car in the shop to repair a rear differential and a transmission. During this time, I was driving a rent-a-car so time was money. Guardian only covers $25/day for rental cars for 4 days. 3 business days after the inspector reviewed my car (6 days after Guardian had been notified) Tom told my mechanic that Guardian would cover over $5,000, but would not give her anything in writing. Then, over the next 3 days, my mechanic followed up with Tom and Ed to get official approval and she was told that all actions were waiting on the owner. After never receiving a single phone call from Guardian, I hear about this through my mechanic. I call Guardian immediately. My adjuster, Tom at ext.118 tells me that he will only cover $3,000 saying that he previously mis-stated the number to my mechanic. When I asked him to break that down, he said that he would only cover ~$800 for the transmission (a part which was replaced with a refurbished transmission by County Transmissions through Guardian cost Guardian $3,000 alone in Fall of 2008). ~$300 for the door switch, and the rest was the rear differential. I do not know these numbers exactly because when I asked for these numbers in writing, Tom refused. I requested to be transferred to the manager, Ed at ext.111, who stated that the $5,000 conversation with my mechanic never happened. I am not sure how he can make such a bold statement.
Those are all sincere frustrations that I would like resolved, but my stopping point right now is my rear differential. I have contacted everyone that I know that specializes in repairing Volvos after the year 2000, and every single person tells me that the only way to replace a rear differential on this car is to buy a brand new part from Volvo (I believe at a cost of over $5000). I am told that the used part may render my car undriveable. Tom said that he read in "All Data" that a change to my vehicle's database could get around this problem. I asked him for his source, and its reference. He refused to provide it. I have since asked Ed for the source and reference, and he also refused to provide it. However, Ed did mention that Guardian's sole objective is to make sure that every part in my car is in mechanically working order, and the software was not his responsibility. Here in lies my concern. I am sincerely concerned that Guardian is going to leave me with a used part in my Volvo, which does not drive. Ed's criteria would be satisfied because everything mechanical is in working order. When I asked Ed for a written assurance that Guardian would pay for all mechanical labor required to get my car into drivable condition, he refused to give me a verbal assurance, and he continued to state that he would provide nothing in writing.
I then asked Tom and Ed for a written price estimate with reference-able parts so that my mechanic can utilize the used parts that Tom found so cheaply ($3,000 would not cover used parts according to my mechanic). They would not give me these references, nor would they give me a written quotation. They refused my requests.
Ed and Tom both told me that they needed to check with their repair shop to make sure that they could do the work (why do they do this after they quote me? ) I followed up with Tom and Ed every day for 4 business days only to finally reach Tom when he asked, "When are you going to bring your car to Dorsey Transmission?” Without input from Tom or Ed, I had been in contact with Jack at Dorsey Transmission for those 4 days, and he, nor I, had ever been notified that I was to bring my car in.
Proposed settlements: Now I have a dilemma: At this point, I do not trust Guardian to leave me with a working car without a written assurance. Tom and Ed have never given me a written quotation and a validated price estimate to take to my mechanic beyond the $5000 vs. $3000 verbal statements. What is actually approved and why? And as a sub-point, how can Guardian get away with only paying $800 for the same transmission in the same car that cost $3,000 18 months ago? I am sick and tired of the Guardian service, and never want to make that phone call again, but Ed refused my offer to let him buy out my contract.
Proposed settlements: Option A) A written assurance that my car will be able to drive my car off the lot of Dorsey Transmission. If repairs were done, then for under $500 ($100 deductible + up to $400 in software costs more than double their estimation). If repairs were not done, or if they couldn't be completed, then for free. Option B) Instead of paying my mechanic $3,000 to fix my car, they pay me $3,000 personally to tear up their contract and never speak with them again. I will then handle my car in my own way.
