I purchased a powertrain plus warranty for a used vehicle I bought from a dealership. This was to cover all "internal, lubricated parts". While within the contract period, the oil cooler of the vehicle failed and needed to be replaced as determined by the dealership service center, after a diagnostic workup. GWC denied the service claim defining the oil cooler as an "external" part. All other warranties this local dealership consider the "oil cooler" an "internal, lubricated part" as it is in the center of the engine, accessed only by removal of intake manifolds, fuel lines and injectors, and lubricated, as oil (lubricant) must flow through the center of the part rather than around it.
If GWC intends to veer from the mainstream definition of internal lubricated part and the exclusion of an oil cooler, it must be explicit in their contract terms. The moment a covered entity experiences failure of a part, generally considered to be covered, is not an appropriate time to exclude coverage under novel misdefinition. As an example, this warranty clearly lists oil cooler under "internal lubricated part".

Horrible! Worst customer service ever. I bought a GWC Warranty for over 2000.00. Made a claim in October 2024 and now it’s January 2025..I have had a used car less than a year. Engine needs to be replaced but they have done absolutely nothing but procrastinate and make up unrealistic reasons not to grant the replacement of the engine which is clearly part of my warranty. I have never dealt with such a scam of an organization. How do you treat your consumers like this and feel good about it? I have had to take a Uber for 5 months. Please do not ever buy a warranty from GWC.

I purchased my 2015 GMC 2500 Diesel in June 2019 and at that same time purchased a three year 36,000 mile comprehensive plan with the technology add on box. To preface my story I want it be known that I meticulously maintain my diesel truck at the dealership because their prices are fair and I have had excellent experiences thus far. With that being said all my service records are available either in my file or electronically at the dealerships that I have used. Additionally, let me state that without maintenance record showing you did your part to take care of the vehicle you’re probably gonna get a denial based on stories that I have read and heard.
With that being said, I can attest that GWC has stood behind their named breakdown policy for me. They have replaced my turbo charger, they have replaced my oil pan gasket, & they have replaced my transmission mount. The one denial I received was for some sort of heated throttle body part that was not named in the contract so coverage denied. Therefore, my experience has been positive overall. The only concern I have is that they need to upgrade their contracts to include diesel parts and pieces such as the DEF system.

We have tried to use this warranty 2 times and neither time they would cover anything. Remember to read the fine print. You have to keep very good records for oil changes and any service you have done. Even if you do your oil changes. If not you will not have anything paid for thru this company. $4000 was paid for this warranty and got nothing from them. Save your money.

I am deeply dissatisfied with the service provided by GWC Warranty. My husband holds an active warranty with GWC, and the repair costs for a covered issue totaled $800. Despite this, GWC only offered to cover $181.64, leaving us to pay the majority of the cost out-of-pocket for something that should have been fully covered under the terms of the warranty.
This is unacceptable and feels like a blatant failure to honor their contractual obligations. We trusted GWC to provide reliable coverage when needed, but their actions suggest otherwise. I strongly discourage anyone from purchasing a warranty from GWC. This situation is not only frustrating but potentially indicative of a pattern of poor service. A class action lawsuit against GWC might be necessary to hold them accountable for such practices.

We purchased a used car from a dealership, took it for a test drive, found no issues at the time and went ahead with the purchase, along with the GWC extended warranty. On the ride home we noticed a clicking sound when making sharp left turns. This was not noticeable to us during the test drive since the salesman had us taking a route that only made right turns. Thinking we would be covered by GWC’s extended warranty, we didn’t make much fuss about it.
After bringing the car into the auto shop a few days later, we were told it was a simple axle/cv joint failure, which should be covered by the warranty. A few days after that, we’re told that GWC will be denying the claim due to the issue being a pre-existing one. GWC flat out told us there’s nothing they can do. This was not a pre-existing issue to us. GWC will find any and all reason to deny your claim. If you have other options for choosing an extended car warranty plan, do yourself a favor and go with them and not GWC.

I am an active duty member of the US Navy, and purchased a used van for my wife to drive as I am about to go overseas. The dealer included 90 days of GWC warranty coverage. The car ran fine and had no check engine lights during test drive. Soon after bringing home, the vehicle had a check engine light. I took it to a GWC approved facility, and they determined a blown head gasket. GWC denied coverage, stating that it was pre-existing issue. They inspected the vehicle prior to authorizing it for warranty coverage and found no problems. I don't see how the way that they operate is legal, and I am out stressing because now my spouse has no vehicle and I am running out of time. My JAG representative on base read the contract and believes that they are in violation of it by denying this work.

Do not pay your money to this company. I bought a used Lincoln in October of 2024. Took it in because of a fuel leak and the mechanic found a lot of other issues. Somehow, NOTHING IS COVERED BY THIS WARRANTY! While fixing the brakes the mechanic noticed that the rear calipers needed to be replaced. And although they are listed under things that are covered GWC will not honor the claim. My policy also can't be canceled so I can't even get any money back. So I paid for a useless pack of paper. DO NOT GET THIS WARRANTY! They will find any excuse to not cover your repairs.

Very poor management and bad bad bad customer service including the way they treat you. I have the vehicle more than a month at repair facility AAMCO Pennsauken NJ but GWC warranty company one of the worst ever car warranty company I ever seen. I would not recommend to anyone entire USA because they worst one in entire country. I have more than 2,000 bill In diagnosis and they didn't getting the answer. The repair shop is nice enough to tell them the cause of engine failure and I personally I have a lot of knowledge as well but GWC warranty kept asking the cause of falling the motor. I guess they need to hire more train people or required more training.
Repair shop give them more than enough information to repair the car but they kept asking to keep opening the motor and increasing the bill and they don't want to cover the car. I asked them to get further assistance from the claim department. Didn't hear back anything from manager. Very stressful, very unprofessional. When you going to buy the warranty they tell oh the car going to cover 1 miles and 1 day of purchase and real world story they won't cover anything and increase the repair shop bill for no reason. I am happy to talk to their management or claims dept supervisor **.

I bought a $3,000 policy with this company almost three years ago. The policy was for 3 years or 125, 511 miles/Used/Luxury Package. I recently brought it in a little under my mileage (around 110,000) for what came to be a temperature control issue. I called to ask about what the coverage would be for a rental car, twice. Both times I was told $50 a day or up to $250. Since I had to front the money, and the hard fact that money is extremely tight, I rented a car for only three days. It came to $187. I brought my car in on a Tuesday, this company didn't approve work until the last minute on Friday. Mind you, the car was evaluated the same day it was brought in. Parts had to be ordered and by the time they came in and work was done, my car wasn't finished until the following Thursday.
In case you're not following, I only had a rental car for three days out of a week that was covered due to their policy AND their lack of speed in approval. I come to find out, this company didn't pay for the whole job. It cost $347 to fix the temperature control issue and I had to pay out of pocket $143. I finally received my check for the reimbursement today, over a month later, and it's only for $150. When I called to ask why, I was told to look at my policy and that it reads: $50 a day OR up to five days for a total of $250.
If I could insert an emoji with curse words here, I would. I told the man I was speaking to, who may or may not have been a manager liked I asked, that it was despicable. So, the conclusion is that after three years and a $3,000 policy, I had to pay $358 for a job that cost $534. What other word would you use to describe this experience??? I'm tired of people/companies acting like cow dung and it just being ok. It's not. Good luck to those of you looking at this company. Blessings, Julia

We finished a work on a customer car, since we started the diagnostic, we mentioned to the company we only take checks. So, we submitted the forms to get paid. At the end of the work, we submitted the invoice and waited to get paid, after a month of keep calling I was told they never received the form for the check payment, so I resubmitted. I waited another month, they said the check was mailed, but since I haven't received it yet, they will cancel the check and reissued another one. Waited another month and nothing, this time they said because they reissued a card payment and then they had to reissue a check, the process is taking longer. I told them I heard so many stories so far, cancel the check and pay me with a credit card, and she said I will have to wait 30 days for them to cancel the check and reissue a new one.

So I'm being told more pics is needed. At this point I request for a adjuster to be sent out. Pictures is not going to help. The axle is bad and there is no visual signs, and if there were it wouldn't be covered. If the boot is ripped or torn it's not covered, if the axle is completely broken it's not covered. But if it's bad and all boots are intact it suppose to be covered. The warranty is making all kinds of excuses to not pay. The rack and pinion is leaking fluid, they are saying that they need to see where it's leaking from. The pics clearly show it's leaking from the boot.
In the warranty there is nothing stating if the rack is leaking it's not covered. So I do not understand why they making this a big issue. This is a trusted shop they recommended on their website, and even to work with them you're giving them a hard time as well as just fixing the issue with the van. At this point, the van has been there going on 5 days and all has been is wasted time and emails. I will not pay for the axle or the rack and pinion. The vehicle will stay there until GWC fix it. It’s ridiculous that they do this to so many people and get away with it.

My car broke down on 7/27/23 and had to be towed to the dealership. They said the engine was no good and that they would replace it. I bought an expensive Chevrolet Diesel truck used at a dealership. I am a veteran, and retired public safety person. This truck was going to be my last truck I was probably ever going to buy. I have had the truck for about one year. It started to throw the check engine light and the code revealed the EGR bypass valve was going bad. This was actually a service bulletin from GM to be replaced but the previous owners did not have that done. (Not my fault.) I paid the $4500.00 for the extended "platinum," lol warranty because as this was my retirement truck. I wanted to make sure I had peace of mind as GWC says in their fish hook line, "no Worries. Just drive." Yeah.
Well I take it to my local Chevrolet dealership because they Know the trucks right? They say, "We will call the warranty company and get it figured out." I leave it a couple days and today I get a call from the service manager saying GWC said they don't cover the EGR valve or any of the parts... NO WORRIES? I should've just kept the 4500.00 dollars and placed it in an account to use when issues came up. The truck has just over 100k on it now. So I am left with nothing and nowhere to turn. I called the GWC representative. I explained exclusionary coverages and he said, "We don't cover these items." I said so when the coolant leaks into the chambers and destroys the engine I'm just out another 15 K to buy an engine since you won't cover the repairs? He said yes since the EGR is not specifically named in the contract they don't cover it.
There's a lot in a vehicle that isn't specifically identified. My plan says pistons and crankshaft but nothing about connecting rods or connecting rod bolts. So if the crankshaft decides to spit a connecting rod and the bolt breaks off is it not covered as being replaced because the specific part being the connecting rod bolt is in ink?? Makes no sense. Seems like a lawyer needs to get involved. Bottom line is this Americans. When your gut says things are too good to be true, don't fall for the sales pitch! GWC and their warranty means nothing more than taking your hard earned money to line their pockets as well as nothing more than a great tagline to make you feel you're covered.

Used car dealer said he's used GWC for 20 years and that they were the best. God helps us all if this trainwreck of a scammer is the best. Towed my 2006 SRX into garage#1 at the end of 11/2022 with a cylinder misfire in two cylinders. Mechanic said get a rebuilt engine because the warranty company would not be worth the grief and GWC will nickel and dime them and not authorize the right way to repair. He passed on taking the job. I tried two other good garages who turned down the work as well.
In December, truck was towed to a 5-Star garage with 10 bays and a machine shop that specializes in rebuilding engines. Garage #2 said the same thing about car warranty companies but they relented after I begged and took the truck in. It is now the end of March 2023. Garage#2 spent weeks trying to contact GWC and it took 17 phone calls to finally get through. This 5 star garage says GWC is the worst company they have ever worked with. Truck needs timing chain and valve job. Garage says it's a $6,000 job at a shop rate of $155/hr. GWC says they only pay a labor rate of $11 and claim the will only authorize 5.7 hrs while the garage says it will take 9.6 hrs. GWC says they will only pay $4,100 and GWC will NOT pay for oil, filter, a few bolts and 3 actuators. I have been without the vehicle for 4 months and it is still not fixed. GWC should change motto to: "Worry! Get used to walking and hire an attorney."

I purchased a used 2014 Nissan Versa Note with 134,000 miles on it on November 17, 2022. Prior to buying the car I reviewed the Carfax history report and drove the car for 25 miles in various conditions (interstate, stop and start, hilly, ect.) and found that it ran with no problem. I also connected an OBD sensor to the OBD port and ran a scan using an Android app called Torque. There were no reported scan codes that showed during the scan. I decided to purchase the car. During the contract completion process, The salesperson suggested that I purchase the GWC Vehicle Service Contract. They allowed me to do a quick internet search of extended service contracts and I discovered that, not only was the GWC contract the most competitive, but other contracts did not go into effect until after a waiting period. The GWC brochure stated “PROTECTION THE MINUTE YOU DRIVE OFF THE LOT" so I purchased it.
On Saturday, November 19, I left Altadena, CA, and drove to San Luis Obispo, CA (189 miles). On Sunday, November 20, while returning to Altadena, a check engine light came on. I still had the OBD sensor attached, so I did a OBD scan and it gave a “P0744 – Powertrain Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Intermittent” code.
The Torque App has a "clear code" function, so I cleared the code to see if there was is a real problem or if was just a “blip”. On Monday, November 21, I was back in San Luis Obispo, and I took the car to Coastal Nissan and told them about the check engine light. I also told them that I had the GWC warranty and asked them to please contact GWC first before performing any work. They told me that they would need to do a transmission diagnostic test and pull the transmission pan to see if there were metal fragments in the pan.
They found a PO744 “history fault” in the diagnostic test and recommended a new transmission, however, GWC would not approve a new transmission unless another fault code appeared. They told me to bring the car back if a new code appeared. I paid them $219 and left. That evening, the code appeared again (this time I didn’t clear it), and the next morning I drove it back to Coastal Nissan, who said they would have to run another diagnostic test ($189). GWC denied the claim stating that it was a “preexisting condition”.
When I purchased the car, I received a California Smog report. In doing some research, I read where check engine lights would cause the test to "fail". My car’s report shows that there were no OBD codes at the time of the test. So I submitted a claims appeal. After several more phone calls, I was able to talk to a GWC supervisor who told me that the transmission problem was "wear-and-tear" (or "preexisting") not a "failure." (So much for GWC's “No Worries, Just Drive”). Wouldn't any failure with a used car be "wear and tear"?
The transmission check engine light continues to stay on. I'll have to decide if I'll keep it, wondering if the transmission is safe, pay to replace the transmission, or just take my "lumps" and trade it in on something more reliable.

I had bought an extended warranty on top of the existing warranty when I purchased my car. Any time I needed work done, I went to the dealership and was always covered under warranty. No questions asked. My existing warranty expired and I was having engine trouble. I took it to my dealership and they sent the invoice to GWC. GWC proceed to say they need me to provide service records, although I was never asked that for any other repair at the dealership, nor was I told I had to keep service records when I bought the car (although it's in the fine print of the contract that was glared over). Because I was never asked for service records, I would throw them away after some time. Not having the actual records or what service station I went to, I scrapped together what I was able to find by combing through old credit/debit card statements and calling the local oil change places.
I was able to piece together the last few oil changes, brake/pad change, tire change. As well as all the repair records from the dealership and the 1 oil change from them. I explained to GWC I didn't have the old statements and all I could get is what I sent them. They denied my claim because of couldn't produce them. I questioned that when I brought my car into the dealership for repair and was given a good bill of health for my car, then able to provide service records from that point. They couldn't give me an answer and said that they need all service records. They would not work with me in any way!!!!

So far this GWC has been useless. First experience I had a caliper lock up in the rear and all they would cover is that caliper and labor. The caliper locking up caused other things to need to be replaced such as rotor and pads and since it was the brakes you have to do both sides. none of that was covered. Basically what they would have covered was $120 and with the $100 deductible it would have saved me 20$ on a several hundred dollar repair. Second experience the rear evaporator started leaking AC. This one needs to be done by a dealer so they have a set price on labor which is about 40$ an hour short of what a dealer charges. Also had the same issue as the first where they would cover the part (evaporator) and labor (at their rate) but not all the lines, refrigerant, dye check, etc.
Basically they would have paid $800 and I would be left to cover the $1900 remaining. So instead of getting the issue fixed by my warranty I am going to pay $800 (instead of 1900) to get the rear AC capped off so only the front works. Buy this warranty if you want just know they are not going to cover anything except that specific part and labor and there is almost always other things that need to be done as a result of the issue.

In Dec. 2021 I noticed the Avalanche I recently purchased was using a quart of oil every 900 miles. I replaced the spark plugs to isolate the issue. I took the truck to shop #1 who didn't perform and diagnostics as asked. While driving one day the no oil pressure/shut off engine now warning came on. I pulled over and called to have it towed. Shop #2 found serious issues: smoking out tail pipe and heard a lot of noise coming from engine due to no oil pressure. GWC was informed and asked to have engine removed and taken apart to find the issue. I was sent to shop #3 because that shop didn't perform that type of work. Shop #4 discovered: piece of piston ring on piston, cylinder scoring, gouging and fuel wash in cylinder 7. Also discovered pieces of metal (some large) while draining the oil. GWC wanted a complete tear down of the engine.
March 3rd I received an email stating "We cannot in good conscience move forward with a complete tear down because we don't believe GWC will honor the warranty" and I should sell the truck and absorb the loss of thousands of dollars. I received a call 3/15 from GWC stating my bill was paid for and I should have the truck towed elsewhere. Knowing I didn't approve such action, I called the shop. The service manager stated he wasn't paid and even if he was I would still owe a balance. Had I towed the truck, I could have been arrested for theft of services. GWC and their adjuster have seen images and videos of the damage taken with a boroscope. The adjuster has seen the damage and has held the pieces of metal. Yet, here I sit making payments on a truck I haven't seen since December and 10 ASE certified technicians telling me the engine needs replaced but GWC refuses to honor the warranty I purchased.

In speaking with GWC, the sales rep was trying to sell me on renewing my coverage and told me that I will wish I had it when large issues happen. If I cant trust you with my current issue, why would I even consider renewing?
I have GWC on two cars which was activated as a courtesy by the dealerships that I bought my vehicles from. The coverage is worthless and confirm and affirm why I have never believed in extended warranties, especially for vehicles and have never directly purchased such coverage. Google this company and lack of coverage is more common than the reviews that state they did cover something. The hassle of time and energy is not worth it. This is my second review of this company for the same issue especially since they keep sending me reminders as if they have done something for me. It was advised by my trusted local auto mechanic shop that the Engine Oil Cooler is leaking. The part itself is leaking not the gasket. This is not caused by lack of maintenance or excessive wear and tear. They are refusing to cover it under the Powertrain Plus warranty. Reviewing a handful of other policies for high mileage extended warranty plans I see this part is typically covered.

You’d think that ‘No Worries, Just Drive’ means what it says, but that’s how they get you. I’m posting this because my experience with GWC Warranty is off to a terrible start. I bought a used 2010 Subaru Forester a little over two weeks ago, and the dealership sold me on an Essential level warranty. I figured sure, that sounds like a good deal, if anything goes majorly wrong I’m good. The Subaru had under 80,000 miles, so I figured I wouldn’t even need the warranty. I was wrong.
About a week ago, my engine had a catastrophic meltdown due to a blown head gasket, which is a covered item. I stopped the car when I saw the overheating warning and got it towed to my house, just like you’re supposed to under the warranty. A day or two later it was towed to a GWC preferred facility. The mechanic and the third-party inspector both agreed that the meltdown was due to a blown head gasket and the engine needed to be replaced. So it was a surprise when the mechanic called and said GWC wanted a full engine teardown. The mechanic is pushing back, saying it’s obvious that the head gasket blew and caused severe damage and the whole engine needs to be replaced.
I called GWC, and they said they didn’t care. GWC claimed the inspector actually recommended a teardown, despite the mechanic stating the inspector agreed that the damage was from overheating due to a failed head gasket. Given that there’s numerous reviews of GWC stating that they’re laser-focused on tearing apart your engine no matter what, I believe the mechanic.
I’m posting this for two reasons, one selfish and the other a little more altruistic. First, I want GWC to hold up their end of the bargain and fulfill the terms of the warranty that I paid for without putting me through the wringer. It’s unacceptable that they sent me to their own mechanic and then turn around and claim that their own mechanic’s assessment isn’t adequate. Second, I want everyone who’s reading this, both dealerships and customers, to think long and hard before giving GWC your business and money. Dealers, you should give your customers the best experience possible and pick another warranty company. Fellow car owners, save yourself the headache and just say no to GWC. If they make this right without making my life hell, then I’ll update this post. Until then, stay away from GWC Warranty.

I am new to the used car market warranty area but am very surprised by my recent experience. I purchased a power train warranty for a jeep from GWC. The first issue I have is a seizing front brake caliper. Apparently, due to the failure of the caliper, the pads and rotor need replacement. GWC will cover the caliper but not the pads and rotors. Seems like something that would be taken care of if the damaged caliper is the reason behind the need for rotor and pads.

I bought a 2008 BMW back in May off this Small dealer, they offered me GWC warranty stating they were top end warranty and by the looks the their pan flip and little booklet I was convinced I would be safer on the road knowing they had my back! So I went ahead and purchased the warranty. 2 weeks later I noticed my car started overheating and Shaking really hard when I came to a stop, also my engine was making a knocking sound. I took it to a nearby mechanic shop, They told me the engine needed to be replaced and some minor parts as well.
Me and My Mechanic have been reaching out to the insurance of this issue and they have not approved the request to proceed and cover my Vehicle. They, for some reason do not want to pay the fee and cover me with this, it’s been 2 months of trying to get them to approve so my mechanic can go ahead and start working on my car. Dear GWC if you are reading this Please reach out to me. This is Unacceptable!!

Do not buy into this companies used vehicle warranty **. Scam! If it’s a worn out component they will deem it pre existing. Covered first day, first mile is false advertising. Just Drive, No Worries. Well I’m worrying because this company has refused to replace the steering box on a used truck that I purchased. My essentials policy plainly states will repair steering box. Updated on 7/15/2021: Now AAMCO is unable to contact to get an approval. They were on hold for over an hour yesterday and had to hang up. They have a business to run and stay on hold for over an hour. There has to be a better way to get an approval, this entire time I don't have my car.
Original Review: GWC is requiring me to pay the sales tax on the replacement parts, the repair shop said they never heard of this before, is this normal operations? I never heard of this before, The "exclusionary" coverage was to be their best full coverage and now not only the deductible but I also have to pay the sales tax, come on.

Had to prove oil record between 2/28/19 and 12/30/19 due too much mileage. This oil change done by husband due to it being in shop in May and July 2019 too so save money. For it to be covered had to have receipt for oil, filter, mileage documentation. Could not find what they required. Claim Denied. Warranty expires in July, they keep sending me mailings to renew now and save $400. I guess my question is why...but the bigger question is how they deny so many things that are mentioned in the contract as covered, but due to lack of documentation. But they can take $1695 from me, on a vehicle they had no service records for. Save your money!

Guardian Warranty Company. This was my experience with Guardian Warranty Company. I have been in the car business since 1998 and have dealt with a lot of warranty companies. I have dealt with some really professional customer service oriented warranty companies and I have dealt with some nightmare warranty companies. Guardian Warranty Company is by far the worst I’ve dealt with in my automotive career. I have a friend that bought a car and purchased an extended service contract through Guardian. She bought the exclusionary coverage which is suppose to cover everything, except for the wear and tear items on the vehicle. One day her vehicle developed a noise in the engine, I suggested she take it to a reputable Mercedes specialist.
The shop diagnosed the noise and determined the noise was coming from the piston and connecting rod. The diagnosis was backed up by several bulletins from Mercedes. Guardian requested proof of maintenance performed on the car which was provided. Guardian also requested that the customer approve a sixteen-hour diagnostic tear down to pinpoint the failed component. Out of the sixteen-hour job, Guardian would pay one hour of labor if the problem was a covered repair. The customer would be responsible for a $1740 diagnostic fee to pay which is completely unnecessary with the exclusionary coverage considering any component that could cause the problem is a covered repair.
I called the claims adjuster and was told that they had to have the exact failed component to cover the claim and the diagnostic charges would be the customers responsibility. I don’t understand why you would force the customer to pay $1740 in diagnostic charges when everything inside the motor is covered. I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was on hold for 15 minutes and spoke to him for less than two when the call was “disconnected”. I called back and was connected to a claims adjuster again. They asked for the claim number and I provided it and then asked to speak to a supervisor. I explained that I was speaking to him and the call was disconnected. I was told no, I couldn’t speak to a supervisor and this is just how the claims process works.
I demanded to speak with the supervisor again and I was transferred to another representative claiming to be a supervisor, but not the claims manager that I was “disconnected” in a previous call. I am confident that the representative hung up on me and put a note in the system that he didn’t want to talk to me. I don’t blame him, it’s hard to argue his side with someone that is knowledgeable of vehicles and how warranty companies operate. In my opinion, this was an opportunity to get out of paying the claim. Seeing how Guardian was handling this claim, all confidence was lost in the company and I was convinced my friend was in a losing position dealing with Guardian. I decided that I would just turn in a claim to repair the oil leak from the turbocharger and begin the search for another car.
My suspicion was confirmed, out of the nearly $400 claim, they would only cover $53 dollars. Please keep in mind that I told them repeatedly what I do for a living and I know what parts and repairs are covered with exclusionary coverage. If they would treat me this way, imagine how they would treat other trusting consumers. I caution Automobile dealers who do business with Guardian, it can be detrimental to your business and reputation by selling a warranty to a consumer from an unethical company.
If you are a consumer looking for a warranty for your car, please be careful dealing with Guardian Warranty Company. We work hard to establish a good reputation as car dealers and representing a company like this can quickly tarnish your image. To any potential customers considering buying an extended service contract, if you are offered Guardian, Caveat Emptor (Buyer Beware). Most dealers will have multiple options for you to choose a warranty. I understand now why so many customers refuse to buy warranties because of previous bad experiences. I am now able to relate to their story and explain that not all warranty companies operate like Guardian Warranty Company.

I purchased a used Ford Crown Victoria in Aug 2019 and bought to Essential Warranty from GWC Warranty Comp. In Feb of 2020, my rear axle developed a major leak on the right rear wheel. Had the car towed to a shop for repair. Shop determined that the right rear axle bearing had failed which caused excessive wear on the axle, axle housing and seal which caused the fluid leak. Repair Shop contacted GWC to cover the replacement of the entire rear axle assembly. GWC did authorized the repair installation of a used rear axle assembly (had 50k existing miles on the axle). On Dec 21st of 2020, the replacement axle developed a leak of axle fluid on the right rear wheel exactly as happened in Feb.
Repair Shop followed the same exact procedure as before and provided pictures of the damage to the axle shaft, housing and seal to GWC. This was the same failure that had occurred in Feb. However, this time GWC refused to pay for a replacement rear axle assembly and would only cover the cost to replace the axle bearing and seal. Since the bearing failure (a common problem with Ford Live Rear Axles) damaged the axle shaft and axle housing, their suggested repair would not resolve the problem. GWC stated that they would not cover the cost to replace the rear axle assembly due to "Continued Operation" of the vehicle by myself.
Since the exact same failure happened in Feb and GWC authorized a replacement axle assembly, why the refusal in Dec of 2020. GWC installed a used axle assembly instead of a remanufactured one and I am being penalized for the failure of the replacement. I need my car repaired as I need it to drive to and from work. GWC is refusing to honor the warranty and only authorizing repairs that would not repair my car or make it safe to drive. GWC clearly does not value their customers, only their customers' money.

I never purchase extended coverage plans. My gut was correct and I more than regret purchasing this plan. I was convinced by a friend to purchase the top of the line coverage from GWC. Lo and behold, I experienced an internally lubricated part within the transmission fail. The warranty is clear that all internally lubricated parts are covered. This is the case until you file a claim. Turns out all internally lubricated parts are covered with the exception of my internally lubricated part. I am on my own to cover the entire bill. I will never purchase a plan from a company who looks to manipulate wording to get out of a claim. This has been a terrible experience for me. Never Again.

I bought a 2014 Subaru Crosstrek last year that had been maintained beautifully at a Subaru dealership. The car dealership offered to sell me the GWC warranty and I bought it as I am a medical student that wouldn't be able to afford it if something went catastrophically wrong with my car. When I was driving, the car broke down and I had it towed to a preferred facility who said that the transmission froze causing two of my axles to break. GWC sent out an inspector who said that the transmission froze due to low differential fluids. The problem is that the transmission has been serviced by the Subaru Dealership within the manufacturer's recommended 30,000 miles.
It is stated in the contract that I signed that the car must be serviced as recommended by the manufacturer's guidelines and it has. Now they are trying to say that it is not covered because of the fluid being low, even though it has been serviced. This company will try to get out of covering anything, and you are better served saving your money. They are currently re-reviewing my case, and I will update this review if they decide to become a reputable company. I will be taking further steps to make sure that they follow the contract that I signed.

Updated on 09/29/2020: After finally get my vehicle repaired after taking 3 weeks calling GWC, The Mechanic shop had informed me the my truck had a exhaust leak in the manifold and it looks like due to warpage of the manifolds the bolts broke off, which is a common problem on those years of the truck, so I looked up my coverage where it sates manifolds and gaskets are covered so the shop called the GWC who said the bolts are not covered, so once again on the phone with GWC who 2 reps on 2 separate calls said that if indeed the manifolds where damaged cracked or warped that you they would pay for the repair, I would need to consent to have them taken off and they would need to send pictures of the damaged manifolds.
So I took the truck to a exhaust specialist who told me the same things that the manifolds are cracked or warped, so I made a appoint with Jumbos auto who had done the previous work that they had to fight with GWC to get fixed, for Tuesday the 29th since Yom Kippur they were closed on Monday, So I thought I had better call to confirm what I had been previously told that if the manifolds are cracked or warped that they would cover it, otherwise it would be a $1200 cost to me to repair. So now GWC informed me they called the dealer and said the dealer would assist me in the repair. So I call the dealer who said he did not say that at all.
I would have never bought the truck with the sound it now makes from the exhaust and the smell in the cab, I would have asked the dealer to fix it before purchase or bought another truck I had a deposit down on. So now GWC is telling me they will not pay for anything having to do with exhaust and they want a 3 way call with the dealer, I have no information on what the dealer said or even why they called them. Again this seems to be a business practice at GWC to try to get out of paying for repairs.
They have the opinion that since they paid for the 1st repairs after 3 weeks and the run-around that now they are not paying for anything and that this is my fault somehow, after taking Ubers to work and making arrangements for my job and travel that I really wanted this to happen. And now I have a car I spent every penny I had on that I can't really drive. It’s just not right.
Original Review: After spending every penny I had on a used truck, The dealer had pitched me a warranty which I thought was a good idea based on the mileage and year, so I did some research and even asked my mechanic who said GWC was better than mos and had a good relationship with them, and the dealer said that they were really good. So I purchased it.
I drove the truck for 2 days when the engine was making a diesel sound and a sound ticking sound, (9-8-2020) so I called my mechanic said not to drive it and they would pick it up. The shop then called and said I would need to agree to the diagnostic fee to take the motor a part S485.00, So I agreed and then he called a day later and said it was the timing chain and the spacers and the loud ticking was the exhaust manifold either cracked or warped and broke a few of the bolts off and it was leaking exhaust which I did smell in the cab same day it started running bad and making a Dieseling sound. So I checked my warranty, and it listed timing chain and the exhaust manifold. I called the dealer and he said not to worry. It would be covered.
So the shop put a call in to GWC, who did not take their word for the repairs 3 days go by while we wait for them to send a third party to inspect the damage parts and then another 3 days for GWC to review it. After multiple calls to GWC (on hold every time forever) then said it would be the next morning, then the next then they said they were waiting on report, (which I knew they already had I checked with the inspectors office) so I felt I was getting the run around, so finally the shop called me (09/17/20) and said they need picture of the cam so they sent that then they called me back later that evening and said they would not cover the manifolds but would cover the timing chain. I called GWC and they stated the inspector said the leak was due to missing bolts, the manifolds were not removed.
So I did some research on the topic and its a common problem on the F150 for the manifold to crack or warp causing the bolts to break, so they are denied the claim without really knowing. So the shop said they would need to take off and inspect, I have not slept in 2 weeks 9with the cost hanging over my head) and have had to take Ubers to work. I reviewed the warranty and it does say the manifold is covered and informed the dealer who said it was for sure covered. So now I need to have the shop take the manifolds off to inspect at my cost and repair at $1300. This is my first experience with a auto warranty company and it's been a nightmare. I spent every penny I had on the truck and really don't have the money to fix it, and basically the truck is undrivable.

Told me to call back. I do. On hold again then get message they close at 8:00 pm. So I called a tow company to get the car home. Call GWC next day. They tow the car to a a licensed auto shop. Long story short the engine needs to be replaced. The auto shop does not replace engines so call GWC.
We tow the car to Sunny’s Auto where I purchased the car because they have auto repair shop. I pay the out of pocket expense for the tow they don’t cover. Well I talked to the guy at the auto shop and he proceeds to let me know that GWC does not cover the repair because a hose busted and got liquid all over the engine and the hose is the cause of the engine failure. This is what GWC told me and the auto shop.. From first to last conversation with all of the people I talked to from GCW knew everything that went down with the car and that the car overheated. The white smoke coming out of hood, engine fried because it overheated. Remember I only had this car for one week and they don’t cover the cost because the hose busted.
What a scam this company is... I would never recommend it to anyone.... I work hard for every bit of money I make and sure do not have money to throw away on a car I have had for a week.. I have literally have cried over over because of the financial position this is putting in.. I don’t have a few thousand of dollars laying around to buy another engine... Less than 6 months ago I bought a used car from Coast Auto in Bay Pines, Florida. With this vehicle I purchased the GWC warranty. First let me say that the car lot scammed me because in less than 6 months with a car that I only use as a disabled veteran driving my disabled mom to doctors appts and to the grocery store, it already needed $1500 worth of work done to it. So I take it to the mechanic feeling good that I paid extra for a warranty. Little did I know that it was a complete waste of money and a complete scam. The car needed the camshaft sensor fixed because it kept shutting off in the middle of traffic, the transmission started missing and was found to have leaks, the U joints were bad, the front brakes were 90% gone, and the back rotors were 50% gone...all of this within 6 months driving it no more than 3x a month.
Here's where the shocker comes in, GWC would only cover the U joints. That's it! $300 out of $1500 worth of work. I say again, what was the purpose of paying extra for a warranty that is such garbage and covers practically nothing. Don't be scammed by this company the way I was. Save your money. You'll need it to pay to have your car fixed because GWC warranty sure won't cover it for you.

We bought the GWC warranty in 2017. The people we bought the car from recommended it. The auto warranty is great but dealing over the phone with people was really horrible. It was like pulling teeth to get them to fix our car. We had a problem recently where we had to take the car in at the service center that we had it at. They tried to call on our behalf and were treated rather poorly on the phone. Then we tried to call and figure out what we could do to help, and it was like we’d call one day and GWC would call the next day but would know nothing about it. This went on for about a week until we finally got somebody a little higher up or a manager who finally spoke with my husband and straightened it out.
We were getting all these warnings and when the service center put the car on the computer, it ended up with the turbo having to be replaced. GWC wanted it taken apart to the turbo before they would say they’d pay for it, which was was gonna be on our lap to pay for the seven hours of labor to do it if they didn’t cover it. And the way that the service center had to take the car apart so that they could show GWC the video of it caused other problems. The oil line got crimped and a couple of other problems arose because of that. This claim took 28 days. GWC covered most of it but wouldn’t pay for the labor at the place we had because labor was higher than what they would cover. We had to pay the difference, about 800 bucks.

Krista, we appreciate your feedback.

I purchased a GWC warranty from the dealership where I bought my vehicle. During a planned trip the engine went out on the vehicle. I took the vehicle to a GWC Warranty “recommended” shop, as I was far from home. The warranty company denied my claim stating that I failed to maintain proper care of my vehicle—proper engine oil level. That said, the engine oil was low based on the shop’s findings. I had recently purchased the vehicle, drove it for less than 1600 miles and checked all fluids prior to my trip, including the engine oil which at the time was at a proper level. The vehicle wasn’t due for an oil. The warranty company didn’t even care to investigate why the oil was consumed in less than 3 hrs of driving. Some internal engine parts must have failed for the oil to have been consumed that quick. Overall, my experience with this company was terrible. You’re best off having a car repair fund than allowing companies like this to steal your hard earned cash.

AVOID AT ALL COST! I Have a 2015 black Escalade that I purchased last year April 2019! While at the dealership they proposed GWC extended warranty. Everything looked perfect on papers and since It was my first time buying a used car I thought it was a safe option "Which Was NOT". I went ahead and bought the best and most expensive one they could offer so I'm at peace around $4000. The car had some minor problems so I took it to Cadillac dealership at least 3 times since purchased and I was told that I needed to run a general Mandatory diagnosis if I want to use my GWC warranty. It's an extra $180 each time. "That's a flat rate you need to pay"! A Hidden fee that I was not even aware of but I accepted and it was fine by me. I was under the impression that it will check all the problems that the car.
Recently My escalade had a transmission problem and I had to tow it because it looked serious. After running another $180 diagnose Cadillac sent the report to GWC and as soon as they saw that the repair will be over $2000 That's when everything started to fall. GWC denied my claim saying that it was the transmission fluid that was not changed! My car was in service at least 3 times at the dealership and had a general diagnosis every time. Not even one time someone mentioned something about transmission fluid, I just want to understand why would they do a general inspection, make me pay for it and not let me know that the transmission fluid is low or It needs to be changed. We can go to all records and bring all the people involved and not one person or one paper says that “transmission fluid need to be changed”.
GWC will try anything to blame it on you as soon as the claim is over a certain amount. I purchased the best package GWC had to offer just to not deal with these insurance denials because the salesperson assured me that they cover 100% of anything wrong with the car. I tried to reach out GWC by phone. They let you explain what's going on with the claim then leave you on hold indefinitely or hang up on you. Good luck getting a hold of someone. Sent several emails to GWC claim department. You get the same preset answers that they learn in training. My car is still at the shop not being able to do anything because I'm wasting my time going back and forth with them. I have been with no car for the last 2 weeks just trying to get my claim taken care of. Don't Purchase. It's a SCAM. BIG FLAG GWC warranty. SCAM.

Multiple sensors needed replaced, a control arm had failed, and there was an issue the rear view mirror motor. Total bill was over 2,000 dollars... GWC covered $140 for the control arm. The two garages who GWC sent me to all say they hate working with GWC. Unless you are willing to get angry, visit them in person, and push night and day for what the contract says should be covered, do not buy. If I were a lawyer, I would try to sue for breach of contract. At this point, I'm done with them. You're basically funding a call center that denies claims. Do not buy.

There were two times when I've had to go without my car for a week and a half, and even two weeks one time, because there were a lot of back and forth, like if they needed to send out inspectors and they would take long. Then after a week or a week and half of my car being at the shop, they’re like, “Oh, we’re just gonna pull the car and send it to somewhere GWC-recommended.” I find that so unprofessional. They cover everything that is said to be covered and, whenever I talk to people at GWC, it’s very good, but according to my mechanic, that’s where the problem is. He said they were very rude to him the last time I had my car repaired. But I'm not sure if that’s because of GWC or my mechanic.
Besides the long time it takes for the service, there’s always getting nervous with the whole rental car procedure. If they don’t approve the rental car because they claim it would only take a few days, but then my car is still in the shop, that puts me out a few hundred bucks. So that's a little bit of hassle. Also, I wish they covered more of the labor rate so I could take the car to an actual Mercedes dealership. A lot of places don’t do repair on Mercedes, like the electronic stuff. And then, with all the repair shops that are contractors with GWC, I haven’t really been able to find one that was close that had a solid rating or good reviews. I would rather go with an actual dealership.

I bought a used vehicle at one of our local car dealerships and it was a vehicle that had been traded in. They are one of the authorized service centers and they sold me the GWC warranty. I had to file a claim a month ago and the claim process went very well. It took a couple of days for the claims rep from GWC to go to the dealer and make sure that everything was gonna be covered. They approved everything 100%, so I just had to pay the deductible and fluids. I have a diesel and I lost the injectors. Unfortunately, the car was in the shop for almost three weeks, which was my only complaint with the whole thing. I don’t think that really had anything to do with GWC since that had to do with the local dealership. But the parts manager and the service staff of the dealership did it all on my behalf so it was really seamless and it was good.

GWC Warranty had the most coverage, so I went with them. Comparing what I expected to what I received, the coverage is a little different because they don't cover sales tax. With the other companies that I have, all you pay is the deductible, I never paid sales tax. That is the only downside, but only if there is a lot of work to do on the car. Also, it actually took them a while to get back with a response. But once they got back with a response of the mechanic, it went fast. I gave all my information to the mechanic, and then he coordinated everything with them.

The dealership that I bought the truck from sold the GWC warranty to me and the guy's crooked. I wish I would've known that at the time. After I bought the truck, I looked him up and he had nothing but lawsuits and edicts against him. He's known for selling cars with engines that blow a month later. At the time, he chose the warranty for us and said that everything was covered. Then, the engine blew about two months into it. It took a long time for GWC to cover the warranty of the engine and it was a hassle to get it all done. I had no vehicle for almost two months and I'll never buy a used car again.
Also, I still had to pay 2,500 out of pocket as they only covered 5,400. That was on top of the 1,500 that I paid for the cost of the vehicle, plus the tow that I had to pay because he said the towing was included and it wasn't. That cost over 200. Aside from that, on the first day after getting the engine, it was leaking draining fluid and they had to replace the transmission shield, which I had to pay for. That was another 200.

When someone has a legitimate claim, GWC Warranty should just step up to the plate and work it out instead of playing games. When I had to have an engine replaced, it took two months. The first place we took the car to had negotiated. They were at X, and GWC Warranty was at Y. And there was too much out-of-pocket expense that I shouldn't have to pay, especially after paying $3,600 for the warranty. I ended up getting another proposal from a different dealership which brought that bill closer to what I could live with. I wasn’t happy, but it was a lot less out-of-pocket. Other than that, GWC worked and sent their adjustor. But it took a little time. And once everyone was on the same page, the claim moved smoothly.

I filed a claim and it took me too long to fix the car because GWC has their process. They had to see and inspect the car. But I have no complaints.

My dealership gave me the option to purchase an Essential warranty from GWC when I purchased my vehicle which is the second-best warranty from that company. Had I known I was gonna have a little bit of trouble with the vehicle, I would've picked the main one. The dealer could've explained the warranty a bit more. At the shop where I took my vehicle, they specialized in a lot of warranties and they explained to me that my warranty is a bit pickier. For instance, if the shop had to disassemble the parts, one of GWC's associates needs to go and look at the work that needs to be done and see if the part is damaged.

They didn’t go over anything with me, and when I went to the dealership to get something repaired, I came to find out that I didn’t have the highest plan. That was not what was explained to me. So, I paid money for a warranty that is useless. Also, my understanding was I was supposed to get some information sent to me, but I never got anything. I ended up having to pay a lot to get things taken care of. It also took a very long time to finish, and they sent the wrong part. It was a very frustrating process.

Luxury vehicles like the one that I currently have need a vehicle service contract. I understand that being German-made, when their parts go on it, it cost more than your general or American-made vehicles. For instance, I recently had a transmission replaced and American-made transmission for the same size sedan is probably a third cheaper than a German-made transmission.
Since the dealer only offered GWC Warranty to me when I was purchasing the vehicle, I signed up with them. But had I had the opportunity to do my own and purchase my own warranty, I wouldn’t choose GWC. They are not as transparent as they could be to their consumers who purchased their warranty. They go on with their mantra, “You just forget and drive,” but that’s not really the case. The reason why I purchased the warranty was to reduce the cost out of my own pocket for expenditures and I thought I should only pay the deductible, but I have come to find out that GWC has its own methods of what they think a mechanic here locally or a mechanic at a specialized shop here can do. Then, some of the shops that carry their warranty that will be able to do the work don’t always do the work. And if they do the work, those vendors are in some of the most rural locations that you can go to.
One time, I had a radiator problem on my Mercedes. It happened on a weekend and I gotta go to work on Monday. So, GWC told me I could choose the shop. But what they wanted to do was negotiate based upon how much they wanted to pay the mechanic. Then, if the mechanic told them the price of the part, they'd say they could find it cheaper. And what it means to them is that the part could be a cannibalized part, a used part, or an OEM part. But if they can get it cheaper and send it in, then they will honor their contract 100%. But if your mechanic refuses, it would be a different story. Like my Mercedes mechanic when it came out to the transmission. He wanted to use a Mercedes German-made transmission because it provides the customer, me, more warranty. If they would have used the one that GWC sent to them, they will warrant the work but not the transmission.
In both cases, I ended up having to spend money out of pocket. For the first case, I spent additional $500, and in this previous case, I spent another $850 because GWC doesn’t tell you upfront about that. And the way their contract is written is very convoluted where it doesn’t specify everything. If you look at their contract, they have wording in big bold letters, but it takes your eyes away from the smaller print that they wrote in there. Still, they can say that legally, it's in the contract. But it's distracting when they put those big bold letters upfront. They think that is what you need to see but what their customer really need to see is how they execute those in big bold letters, which they don’t turn their heads to because if anything is sticking out in front of you, you're gonna look at that. So, their contract structure is very deceiving to the eye.
Even when it comes down to their ability to say when the mechanic should only get paid this much money to do the work is questionable. They use a system called All Data and I can get on All Data and review how much a mechanic should be able to get paid on that work. But I don’t have a sign in or log in with All Data, so it's not as seamless as they make it seem to be when you buy or purchase a warranty from GWC. Despite that, that’s the warranty that most used car dealerships are pushing towards their customers because it's fairly cheap. But it's not cheap when you actually have to go use it to get things done. It's not as clean-cut as it seemed to be. Other than that, when you're calling to find out whether they pay'd pay out on a claim, their customer service is slow. So, I ended up having to reach back to them to find out if they processed my claim, versus them contacting me and informing me about its status.

I had a GWC Warranty, check this site for reviews and found them acceptable. Had a problem with my Engine, they first took forever to get to the car to diagnose it, they kept saying it was not torn down enough. One day when they were supposed to send someone to look at it no one showed up. I spent the day there to see if they were going to come and they did not. I called and was told they ask for pictures and the car was not torn down enough.
I had spend about 300 in car rental by then, they are not quick at all. When they were able to inspect my car, I was told they were replacing the Engine as a favor, they saw sludge and did not have to, but they were helping me because they had taken so long. I was too through. They sent the first engine and it had broken parts and had to be returned. The second engine had to have the water pump assembly replace, it was leaking, then the car was released. That was September 21, 2019. Today January 31, 2020, my car stopped again making the same noise. I am again stranded. I am going to reach out to them and see if the engine came with a warranty of any type. I had the oil changed already and was about to get it done again. I am so disgusted when this site said that only had 1 1 star review, I have read several. I am again without transportation to work, guess I won't get any favors this time. I will be exploring my recourses for this matter.

I’m really grateful that we got the warranty and GWC covered at least 75%. It was still $4,000 that had out to come out of my pocket. But if not, I would be making $300-something car payments on a vehicle that will be parked until I had the money to buy a new engine. Because I was buying a used vehicle, I purchased a service contract and GWC was the warranty company that was offered. The rep at the dealership said it was a great plan but he was really pushing it. Then not even a month later, our check engine light came on. My motor mounts were broken and I needed a whole new engine. My master cylinder was getting ready to go out for my brakes as well.

My vehicle's age and mileage prompted me to get a service contract. From what I understood from the dealer, GWC maintains a three-month contract, and I thought it would be best just to stick with them. They told me the car is guaranteed for three months up to three years. They gave me a brochure and it looked good. It looked like they cover most of everything and the rep said everything was. However, I was supposed to get a rental car but never did. Other than that, they had top service. GWC Warranty looked like a reasonably good company.

We were buying a used vehicle and the warranty was a big up for my son. The dealership recommended it, so we just went ahead with it and I’m so glad we did. I would not recommend that dealer to anybody ever again. Absolutely, hands down awful. Their rep barely explained the coverage. He made it seem like GWC would cover everything including the oil changes. I’ve had several vehicles in my lifetime and not one of them has ever covered an oil change.
He didn’t spend the time to detail the three service tiers that they offer and how each tier actually differs from the last. And there really is no difference. You go to the next tier and they’re adding additional items to cover. The only reason I know it like that is because I then did my research and I called GWC directly so I could ask them because it was just sell for the dealership, and that’s their job -- to sell and move the cars off the lot. I thought the car wasn’t that old. You never know how the previous owner treated it. And because this was my son’s newer vehicle, it made sense that he had that extra protection.
Within three months of getting the car, we had our first claim. It was awful dealing with the dealership because we brought it back to the place where we purchased the vehicle, and they did not diagnose it as a water pump. Initially, they diagnosed it as the water pump but did not change it. They changed something else and charged GWC for the water pump.
On the other hand, GWC was fabulous. When I was doing my research and asking questions, I said, “Act like I’m fresh out of the womb and don’t know nothing” and the guy said, “First of all, if you’re talking out of the womb, we need to have a discussion.” He was fabulous. So far, each time I called GWC, I’ve had good experiences and they’ve even given me advice that I didn’t even think of that I should have called them for. I would recommend GWC based on our experience in the last year and a half. My son got his car in November of 2018, then November 2019 we had another issue start and GWC has been fabulous. I would recommend them.

There was a small list of items not included which I was ok with. Recently the center screen failed which means I can't actually control the bulk of the electrical features in the car. Took it to get fixed and the problem is with the central head which affects all the electrics. GWC however refuse to pay for the fix since the specific item that needs replacing is called a Telephone Control Unit and that's what's causing the entire system to fail. They claim that the Warranty is to fix parts not problems and the part itself is not covered, despite the problem being covered.
The Official Ford Service Center that I took the car to tried to explain it to them in multiple ways and to three different people however they refused to budge and rejected the payment. Long story short, I paid $2,300 for an unusable warranty that the Ford Dealer themselves believe should cover the issue and now need to pay another $2,500 to fix the problem myself. You're better off not getting a warranty and just working out any problems on your own.

I was having some issues with my GMC Acadia taking off. I went to the shop and they looked at my vehicle over. They determined that there were issues with my transmission and I needed a new one. They have been battling now with the warranty company and with the third party person that they sent out. It’s just been one thing after another and I literally have not had my car since before thanksgiving. They're trying to say that they need more completed to determine that it’s not just the gear that needs to be replaced.
I had to have my motor replaced a couple of months ago, and I had issues with that as well. It was obvious that I needed a new motor. Then the more the shop kept tearing it down, they kept finding wrong with it and that was what it needed. But the person from the third party company determined that was not what it was and that was not the problem. It was just one thing after another with the third party person that was coming out, and what they were reporting and what they were saying.
The motor eventually got replaced. I had to go almost a whole month, if not, probably longer without my vehicle, just like I’m doing again with the transmission. I have a big family, so I need my SUV. Also, the warranty only covers rentals for five days. So, it put our family in a pinch as well. It has been a hassle with everything. Once I get my vehicle back and we drive it for about a month and a half, just to make sure that everything’s good, we are thinking about canceling the service because of all the troubles that we’ve had with trying to get the motor replaced and trying to get the transmission now replaced. I just would rather go with another warranty company or just figure out how to pay for stuff out of pocket.
For the most part, minus some miscommunication with the lady I was working with at the point in time and stuff not getting sent to me when it was supposed to be emailed to me, I’m happy with the issues going on with the car. With Christmas, it has really put a damper on our financial status. I actually called them a couple of weeks ago to move my first payment date and I was very pleased with how well they handled it. They were willing to move it for two weeks for me so that I would be able to still pay it.

If they don't find it, then it is not covered. (Then I have to pay for the labor. Plus the differential is not usable anymore if it is opened.) Even if they find the differential faulty, they would only reimburse for a used differential! The mechanic did not recommend that. That was not the customer service I expected from GWC. Then, today, I just dropped off my car because I'm having some issues and I would hope that they go fast because this is the only car I have right now. Once they determine what the issue is, they said they’re gonna call GWC and have their guy come out, take a look at it, and then make sure it’s covered under my warranty. Because the vehicle was so new, the dealership covered what little cost that was coming out of pocket and even paid for the repair place to get new breaks on the vehicle. We didn't pay a dime. The dealership and the repair place are great. We're very happy and we've been relieved to have purchased the warranty.

I got an extended coverage for my vehicle because you never know when something breaks down in the car. GWC called me and told me about it, and I said, “Okay.” The rep said that we could only get one warranty and if we don’t get it, then we won’t be able to ever get the warranty again. I was not that satisfied because I had to pay $2,700 out of pocket. I had a brand new engine, and though they paid most of it, I had to pay a big lump sum of it too.

Hi Nicholas, thanks for the feedback. Please send us your VIN or Policy number so we can check into why you had out of pocket expenses. Best, GWC Warranty.

Our friend referred GWC Warranty to us and said it is a good company. Everything went well when we were signing up. They wanted me to come by and the rep just made me sign some paper. It took about five minutes which wasn't that long. I just filed a claim for my AC condenser, and it went well. Everything's working now. The only thing is I thought that it covers everything but it doesn't. In the future, I might upgrade to the premium one.

Thanks for the review Ives! Much appreciated and we are happy to have you as a customer.

When I was purchasing a Land Rover, GWC Warranty was offered by the dealership. They answered all the questions that I had in a timely manner. Unknown to everybody who was involved, immediately, there was some engine work that needed to be done on the vehicle, which GWC covered. I took the vehicle to the service providers that I wanted and they worked hand-in-hand with the warranty company. Everybody was nice and I was kept in the loop by both GWC and the service provider. They let me know exactly what was going on, how everything was flowing and got everything done for me. GWC is a great aftermarket warranty and a good value for your investments.

Thanks for the positive review, Kristopher!

I was buying a used a car so I wanted to make sure that I will have no issues as far as mechanics is concerned and the dealership told me that GWC was the best option as far as what they had available. But the whole experience was terrible. I wish I never would’ve bought anything from them, not that car or the warranty. It took forever to process the claim and I just got the car back two weeks ago. So that’s about four months that I was out of my vehicle. The car had broken down in Maryland. I went to put gas in it and then it just wouldn’t start back up. I had it towed out to the Audi dealership and they said the engine was blown. This was two weeks after I purchased the vehicle. I had to get the vehicle back out to New York, wait for the claim to be processed and then wait for GWC. They took three weeks before they went out and inspected the vehicle. It was a whole big hassle that I wish I never had them.
The dealership had also told me that rental would be covered throughout the whole entire time if my car broke down but that was not the case. But GWC only covered five days, up to $35 a day. It was about three months that I had a rental that I was paying for and that I took a couple of thousand dollars loss on. I originally only wanted to spend $10,000 to $15,000 but I winded up spending close to $20,000. And although the car got fixed, the AC is now not working and I don’t know if these guys cover that or not. I’m working on that right now as well. The GWC reps were nice and kind. But the claim itself was what the dealership was going through with GWC and they only called and asked me about what happened. GWC is like any other warranty service. You only get a certain amount and certain things covered.

Using this warranty to get my car fixed has been terrible. The dealer asked me if I wanted this warranty. I see that they pay for a lot of good stuff but they don’t pay for towing. They don’t pay for diagnostics and the contract said they pay for “starter” but somehow I'm still paying for a lot of the starter. The customer service for this company is just not like PMC. PMC had everything paid for and they even made their own tow truck arrangements for me. I only had to make one call. With GWC I was constantly on the phone!

If my vehicle needs any work done, it is expensive so I got a warranty for it. I’ve used GWC in the past that's why I decided to work with them this time. The enrollment process is very simple and everything went fine. But so far, I have filed two claims with them and certain parts of it weren't easy. My vehicle wound up needing a lot of expensive work done and GWC was turning down things that I knew were covered. They were trying to tell me it wasn’t covered when it was right on the policy. I had to go back and forth with them until they finally determined that I was correct and that it should be covered. After that, they got everything approved fairly quickly.
But here’s the problem. Every claim that you put in goes against how much they will pay out against the value of your vehicle. So if you bought a vehicle at $13,000, you’re doing warranty claims and the warranty is for three years, your vehicle is going down in price every year. If they put out $7,000 for the claims and your vehicle in two years is only worth $9,000, you only have $2,000 left that you can put under their warranty, and nobody said that.
When you’re buying their policy, you would think whatever goes wrong in three years that’s on the coverage list gets covered. But that’s not true. I still have two and a half years of that warranty left but very little left to spend, coverage-wise. If I would’ve known that ahead of time, I would’ve thought differently about it. In fact, I’ll guarantee nobody knows it because it’s in fine print hidden down in all the paragraphs of legal stuff. It was something that was easy to overlook and I’m in the car business but I didn’t know it was on there. So I started reading through my policy and I found it but it’s not right. It’s not just GWC too. There are other warranty companies and it's not right what they are doing to people who do not know about it.

I missed 1 oil change when I first bought my car in March 2017. Due to lack of Maintenance Records IE Oil Changes, they denied the claim. This is not my fault as I had the oil changed 3 times after that first missed 1. I even called and had them confirm that as long as this wasnt DUE to the lack of maintenance, and the part was a covered component, they would cover the claim. So I had the Tear Down of the engine done at my expense of $1200. Timing Chain Tensioner failed, which is a very common problem with this engine. This lack of maintenance records to deny my claim is a cop out and sad. I thought an issue I had no control over would be covered, but even then, they found a way to deny the claim.

When you buy a used vehicle, you cannot say for certain that the car is in good condition so getting a warranty was a way of reassuring myself that if anything happens, at least I would have something to fall back on. The GWC Warranty reps were all nice, whether I’m speaking to a lady or a guy. They were all professional. I'm very satisfied with the package. However, the claim process was a bit daunting. It took a lengthy time to give the dealer the go ahead to fix the car.
When I called it in, my understanding was they approved it, and then when I relocated the vehicle from New Jersey to Maryland, they said that they were gonna send a technician to come and look at it. The technician looked at it and said they need to tear down the car. From then on, they needed to look at the rear panel. Then, they said they wanna do something else, and then they said they wanna do something else. It took almost two to three weeks for the warranty company to be satisfied as to whatever they were looking for. Other than the process, I was satisfied with everything that took place. The process just took too long.

When I filed a claim, at first I was nervous because I didn't know what was wrong with my car. It just stopped running. The first thing I did was panic because it was just something you will not know. And then I said, “We can call up or check the warranty company to see if this is something they'd cover,” because I had no idea. It was my first time doing stuff like that. You have to stay on them to do their job. They will attempt to not cover warrantied repairs. I had to call and insist on speaking to a supervisor so they would send an inspector to examine my vehicle. The inspector found that they were actually responsible for the repairs. They did cover repair cost, however, it was a very disappointing and frustrating experience.

Hi Gerrit,
Sorry for your experience. This was a claim that was delayed by incorrect information supplied by the shop regarding a differential claim. The shop originally stated to GWC that and axle seal failure cause the differential to run out of fluid. We denied the claim due to the seal not being a covered component. After speaking with the customer(Yourself), who insisted that the damage was not due to a seal, but rather an internal failure. GWC ordered an inspection on the vehicle. Once the vehicle was inspected, we were able to verify that there was no lack of lubrication failure to the differential. We subsequently approved the claim and authorized the shop to move forward with their parts.
The shop also incorrectly advised the customer that GWC was inspecting the vehicle 4 days before the decision was made to order the inspection. If GWC had been supplied the correct diagnosis and failure information from the shop at the onset of the claim, the claim would have been approved in a much shorter time period.
Hope this helps, and again we are sorry for the delay.

I got a 2010 vehicle from a Mercedes Benz shop that dealt with foreign cars. Someone mentioned that I should get a warranty, which was what I did. The dealer went over the engine and some of the heavy-duty things. When we finished, I decided to go with the essential plan. GWC's reps have been very nice and helpful. However, I thought purchasing the warranty took a little longer than usual. I got it one day and had to wait a month before it took effect.
When the vehicle was being worked on, the shop handled most of the activity with GWC. The contract indicates that they will only handle the rental charges for five days, but I didn't think it would take that long to repair the vehicle. My rental charges were over $1,200. The shop is trying to help me recoup some of that money though and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I get more than $175. All in all, however, my experience with GWC was pretty good.

On Friday, July 19, 2019 I (Stephen **) purchased a used vehicle (2006 Ford F-150) from GPS Auto (623 W. Chapman Ave., Orange, California 92868). At the time of purchase I also purchased the GWC Powertrain Plus used car warranty for ($1,680.00).
On Sunday, September 08, 2019 I drove the warrantied vehicle to the Ontario International Airport located in Ontario, California. The day was dry but hot, the outside temperature was in excess of 100 degrees. The trip to Ontario was the longest drive I had taken in the vehicle since the purchase. After arriving at the Ontario International Airport the vehicle transmission failed and had to be picked up via AAA flat-bed and taken to the Ford dealership (located at 33301 Camino Capistrano, San Juan Capistrano, California 92675 (949) 487-3015).
My vehicle sat at the Ford dealership until Monday, September 09, 2019, when the dealership’s mechanic’s bay opened. Ford mechanics inspected my vehicle and discovered that a transmission seal had popped out of the transmission’s hydraulic pump. (Note: there was no physical damage to the transmission seal and the seal appeared to be in good condition (pictures were taken by Bob ** who is the head mechanic at the Ford dealership). The Ford service mechanic concluded that the seal rupture was caused by a worn/faulty hydraulic pump which, according to the terms of the GWC’s Powertrain Plus warranty, is a covered repaired.
On Wednesday, September 11, 2019 prior to any services being conducted on my vehicle, GWC sent their adjuster to the Ford dealership to examine the damage to my vehicle. Their adjuster concluded that the damage to my vehicle was caused by a ruptured “seal” only and thus GWC has refused to honor my warranty repair claim; because, the “GWC adjuster” claimed the damage was “only to the seal” which is not covered by the terms of my warranty.
I called GWC’s claims customer service line at 1.800.482.7357, and spoke with a man by the name of “**” (he would not provide a last name nor any other identifying information). I explained my situation but was told by ** that, “the GWC adjuster determined that the damage to my vehicle was merely to the seal”; ** also stated that the GWC adjuster received a document (allegedly signed by a Ford mechanic) stating that the transmission’s hydraulic pump seal rupture was the cause for my vehicle’s breakdown.
After speaking with ** I contacted the Ford dealership and spoke with Bob ** (the head mechanic for the Ford dealership) and told him what the GWC claims adjuster wrote in his report. Bob ** then called down to the mechanic (a 30+ year veteran Ford mechanic by the name of Mike), who was doing the repairs to my vehicle, to ask again about the cause of the damage to my vehicle, and to inquire about any document(s) which GWC alleged were signed by him (Mike). The Ford mechanic (Mike) was adamant as he reiterated his findings (that the seal rupture was caused by a fault in the transmission’s hydraulic pump) and stated that, “he did sign a document for the GWC adjuster, but that document did not indicate that the extent of my vehicle’s damage was only a seal.
The Ford mechanic (Mike), who is a 30+ year veteran mechanic, stated that he believes the transmission’s hydraulic pump is old and worn, and once it got extremely hot the housing expanded thus causing the seal to rupture. The fact that the seal itself is undamaged and appears in great condition is proof that a “seal” failure was NOT the cause for the rupture. The Ford mechanic insisted that the “pump” must be replaced otherwise the seal will likely rupture again.Based on the Ford dealer’s findings the repairs should be covered by the GWC warranty.
Before concluding my conversation with GWC’s **, I asked him to provide me with copies of the signed documents, and any reports, notes, photos, and test results obtained by the GWC adjuster. I also asked for the GWC adjuster’s name, information and proof of his automobile experience. Stan refused to provide me with any information claiming “he did not have the authority and I would have to speak with a manager”. After speaking with GWC rep ** I called Ford again to inquire about the alleged “signed document”. Again I was told that the damage to my vehicle was caused by a faulty transmission hydraulic pump.
I called GWC again and this time spoke with a man named “**”. I argued my case pointing out, “** informed me that GWC has a signed document from Ford but the Ford mechanic denied signing any document that stated the damage to my vehicle was only the seal”. I informed ** that I would need a copy of that signed document. (To the contrary Ford’s mechanic [Mike] was adamant that the cause of the damage was the faulty transmission hydraulic pump.)
** continued to insist that GWC would not cover the repair costs for my claim, so I asked for reconsideration…** stated that there was nothing more to do and that there was no way to appeal the GWC’s decision. I stated, “There has to be some way to appeal the claim”. I then asked ** for copies of “all” the reports, photos, and any pertinent information gathered by the GWC adjuster, but ** stated that GWC cannot provide me with that information.
At that point I informed ** that, “if there is no way to appeal GWC’s decision to deny my repair claim then I’ll just have to hand the matter over to my attorney”. When I said this **then said, “let me speak to someone in management”. He put me on hold for a brief time then returned on the phone line and informed me that the management agreed to send and adjuster back to the Ford dealership, and if the Ford mechanic can show the GWC adjuster the damage to the transmission’s hydraulic pump that caused the seal to rupture, then they would reconsider my claim.
On Tuesday, September 17, 2019 GWC’s adjuster made a second visit to the Ford dealership. I do not know what the extent of the exam was on that day, but the result was the same, GWC is refusing to pay my repair claim based on “their” adjuster’s opinion. I sent more than one email to GWC requesting communications via “email” so that I can have documentation “in writing”. I also asked for copies of all information, gathered by their adjuster, which pertains to my claim. GWC has not provided me with the requested information and they refuse to communicate with me via email.
Arguments in support of my repair claims: In accordance with the terms of my GWC Powertrain Plus warranty I feel that GWC should pay the full cost of repairs, less a $100 deductible, based on the following facts:1.) A difference of opinions between Ford’s 30+ year mechanic and GWC’s adjuster (whose experience has not been established) is not grounds for GWC to refuse payment on my claim.
2.) To my understanding, the GWC adjuster did not do necessary tests that may prove the Ford mechanic’s theory, that the seal rupture was caused by the transmission’s hydraulic pump’s housing expanding, due to extreme heat, thus causing the seal the pop out. This reasoning is consistent with the conditions prior to the seal rupture. NOTE: I drove the vehicle, continuously, over 70 miles, to the Ontario International Airport (located in Ontario, California), in temperatures exceeding 100-degrees (which means the transmission hydraulic pump would have been considerably hotter).
3.) If there is no conclusive evidence to determine the cause for the damage to my vehicle, it does not release GWC from their responsibility to honor my repair claim by paying the full cost less the $100 deductible.
4.) I have not been provided with any written documentation, nor any recordings, photos, videos, or reports of any kind despite requests made for “all” information pertaining to this matter.
NOTES OF INTEREST: I checked the Better Business Bureau for any complaints against GWC and discovered that they have NUMEROUS complaints filed against them, many are current complaints filed as recent as this month (September 2019). I also checked the ConsumerAffairs website and discovered current complaints and reviews as recent as September 2019. With the number of customer complaints lodged against them, I do not understand how GWC is still allowed to operate here in the state of California or in any U.S. state for that matter. This may be a class action matter.

Hi Stephen,
I apologize for your experience, however, the only failure shown to us was the front pump seal, which is not eligible for coverage under your Powertrain Plus VSC. We were called out a second time to verify a pump failure, and no failure (other than the seal) was verified.
Per the contract’s terms and conditions, it is up to the customer and repair facility to demonstrate a mechanical failure to GWC Warranty - we do not diagnose vehicles at all.
Again, apologies but unless the shop can demonstrate the mechanical failure of a covered component, we will not be able to extend any coverage.
Regards, GWC Warranty.

When I was buying my GWC Warranty, everything was explained well, but a bit more than $100 deductible fell in my lap. I was responsible for the diagnostics of the blown motor. I dealt with the service garage where I purchased my vehicle and they did the contact with GWC. Apparently, GWC wanted to put a used motor on a truck that had 35,000 miles on it. They put in a reman crate motor and unfortunately, it lasted about 1,300 miles, so they're in the process of putting another motor in. If the truck had 100,000 miles, I would understand a used motor, but the truck has low miles. They went over and above the call of duty to delay the process longer than it should have been delayed. GWC took care of the problem, but they were a little slow. Their process was upsetting.

My vehicle was at over 100,000 miles so I thought it would be a good idea to purchase an extended warranty on it rather than being sorry in the end. GWC Warranty was recommended by the dealership and the purchasing experience was good. With regards to the latest claim I made, I spoke to three agents. I had to keep on calling back and forth to have the situation sorted out and the claim exceeded five weeks, which was not the best experience. I was in a rental for over five weeks, and that came out of my pocket.
I took the van to the garage and they told me one thing. Then when I spoke to the company, they told me a totally different take on the whole situation. They said that they had to pull down the engine to have a look at it. I gave the go-ahead, but they still didn't find the problem. Then they wanted the whole engine to be torn down and for me to pay for it. It was a back and forth situation and it was so drawn out. They sent several people out for this one issue. The warranty company would usually deal with the garage, which was also part of the problem. I thought of doing that but it would not make any sense because it would have started over at the very beginning again, which would have exceeded the timeframe. I think that if the client tells the warranty company what was happening, then they should suggest that the owner take it to a garage that they deal with all the time. All in all, it was a very unfortunate experience.

Because GWC is lying to me that's why. Last 6 of my vin is **. They try to tell me my transmission cant be diagnosed until fuel pump is replaced. Exact question "how can they drive the truck with a bad fuel pump?" Really? The same way I drove it to the dealership, you don't understand that a bad fuel pump means low pressure?
Also have GPS logs of dodge service driving my truck on 4 separate occasions to diagnose transmission then they flat out lie to me that the dealer told them they cant diagnostics the transmission when the dealer rep straight up told me that GWC is full of crap. Now they want me to wait even longer for one of their inspectors to determine repair? So the Dodge dealership service department is not qualified enough to make that call? I have to be without a vehicle for even more time? Dodge can my transmission replaced before their rep even shows up. Been 2 weeks waiting on this lying false advertising company. I'm giving this till Friday September 20th and guess I will have to get my lawyer involved. Good thing all my calls are recorded and so is the dealership calls and my gps logs. It will cost them more in long run with me, but I feel like this company is counting on no one putting up a fight. Well you chose the wrong one to screw with.
Original review: Worst experience ever. This company lies to you on the phone and when you call them on the lies they refuse to provide recordings to backup their claims and call everyone else liars. Takes a week to go through work approval process. In that time they do not care if you are without a vehicle. They do everything possible to avoid necessary repairs. They try to force you to using used parts not refurbished used parts pulled off wrecked cars. I did not pay $4,000 to have junk put in my vehicle. This is a very dishonest company and search other sites for real reviews because 90% on here are fake.

When we bought our vehicle, GWC Warranty was suggested by the car lot. I was wondering why they suggested it and it was because the transmission was seriously messed up in the vehicle. They fixed it, but we had to argue and fight with GWC Warranty. The vehicle is a hybrid Cadillac and with it being a hybrid, its transmission is not a standard transmission. The pump operates the transmission and it’s attached to the transmission. It's what makes the transmission function and it’s a part of the drivetrain. With the transmission being bad, it made the pump go bad, but they told me I had to pay $1,000 for the pump. I told them that it's under the drivetrain warranty. They wound up replacing it after I argued with them, but we were out of the vehicle for a month and a half because it was sitting up there since we kept arguing about it.
They didn't even fix the problem that we took the vehicle up there for originally. When we originally took the vehicle up there, the catalytic converters were stopped up on it. They came back and said that the issue was not the catalytic converters and that the transmission was bad because it was stalling out. I said to fix the catalytic converters since it has a warranty package on it. They didn't fix it but they put a new transmission in. We have certain things that were in our package that we needed to be fixed, but didn't get fixed. Why would I buy a warranty package if it doesn’t fix what I need fixed? Moreover, I should not have to argue and fight to get something fixed that’s under my warranty package from day one.

Well, let's just say this warranty company's motto of "No worries, just drive" is a complete joke. My car has been sitting for quite some time now, not able to be touched. The mechanic/shop has went through a run around with this company and gotten nowhere, so I decided to call and see what the hold up was. First, I must say, the lady I talked to was very rude! The shop I'm using has dealt with 2 different people and made the same exact statement!
GWC informed me that they needed exact mileage from the shop and then they have to verify my contract?! First, they can clearly see I have the warranty! Secondly, the shop had already given mileage so here we are back at point A. After the shop called yet again with mileage, GWC is only going to pay $500! Never again will I purchase a warranty from this company, it has been such a headache and complete waste.

Hi Courtney,
Looks like the engine claim was called in on this vehicle on 8/29/19. We verified pricing and requested estimates from the shop. Their engine price came in less than ours, so we approved the shop’s engine with a 12 month/12k mile warranty. We covered the book time Alldata lists of 12.4 hours (versus the shop’s requested 35 hours!) at the area average rate of $95 per hour. The shop requested $100 for their rate. The claim was approved to the shop on 9/03/19. This did occur over the Labor Day Holiday which caused a delay.

And as far as submitting a claim, it has been easy on my part. I took the vehicle into the service center where I bought it from, and the lady there took care of the rest, other than when GWC called me. But the process took longer than I thought it would. It still has an issue with the motor they got the first time, so they had my truck for a little over two months.
The labor part for bringing the motor in took a few days but they were waiting on GWC to call back and authorize what she was submitting. Other than that, GWC is a really good service. It helped me a lot and saved me a lot of money, rather than me having to buy a whole brand-new motor. It would be nice though if they covered the liquids and filters other than just the main components.

A warranty came with the car. When the warranty was about to expire I received a call from GWC. They ask if I wanted to extend the policy. I knew the Xterra had a known problem with the air conditioner so I asked the sales person if the air conditioner would be covered under this policy. I was told yes, it was covered. When I received the policy in the mail I noticed that there was a higher level of coverage available that covered sensors for an extra price. I called the company to find out if I could upgrade my policy and I was told no, I did ask again about the air conditioner because I was concerned, again I was told that the air conditioner was covered.
In August 2019 the air conditioning went out due to the known problem of the actuator door. I take it to the approved auto mechanic and was told the actuator door is not covered. So $1000.00 later I pay for my AC to be fixed. If you are foolish enough to buy a warranty through GWC make sure you ask about every nut and bolt or they will loophole you out of paying for your repair. If they say the ac is covered without qualifying the parts that are and are not covered, they should pay for all parts.

Once I've seen GWC, I didn't really do much research. I liked what I saw and I actually have two GWC Warranty policies. I have one on my van, and I put one on my wife's van as well. I like the coverage that GWC provides. It's worth it. I got another year off to mine, but I would renew if I had to 'cause it gives me peace of mind. GWC is very thorough. My mother-in-law went out and got one 'cause she's seen that mine works out. My transmission went about a month or two ago. I took it to the shop and they handled most of it for me. It was like about a week and a half total by the time that I had it again. Faster would be better, but they had to literally take the engine out. They took the transmission also. Then, they put it all back in together again so it was a big job.

I bought a vehicle that I was unfamiliar with and I wanted to get a vehicle service contract for it. GWC was what the salesman offered and purchasing with the dealer was easy. I've made a claim already and I was a little frustrated with the warranty at the beginning. I wasn't aware that so many people did not accept the GWC warranty so, many service shops did not want to deal with them. There was only one provider in the area and that provider had a bit of a delay. They wanted to send an auditor out to look at the car, so it really extended the amount of time it took to get the car fixed. But, in the end, it worked out okay. They did a fine job.

I'm very dissatisfied with GWC. I didn’t pay that much when I repaired my car using EasyCare. But this time, the dealer told me GWC did not cover all the parts. If I was gonna get my car fixed, I had to pay 1,400. GWC just paid something like $2,000 or $3,000, and that’s it. The service when I purchased the warranty is fine. The sales guy sold the warranty and he did it correctly. But the thing is it’s like a surprise when you go and you repair the car, you have to pay that much. And it’s after the parts have been opened and you have to pay for it. It’s not like you have a choice to have the car repaired or not. The moment that they told us we had to pay and the moment we found out the warranty company didn't cover that much, we didn't have a way back. The only choice I had was to just pay for it.
As for the customer service and the people who talked to me to the phone, there was no issue. But for the whole procedure from the beginning to the end, after I repaired the car the first time, I don’t know if it was a dealer rip-off or GWC really didn't cover that part. The repair was for the engine. It’s electronics stuff. If GWC doesn't cover that, I really need to consider to sell the car and cancel the service. GWC is not like with EasyCare previously. As long as it was electronics stuff or anything happened to the engine room, they covered it 100%.

GWC Warranty was offered to me at the time that I purchased my vehicle from Friendship Nissan. Purchasing the vehicle service contract went very easily but I should have listened more because the contracts were very big. All in all, it turned out reasonably well. I submitted a claim because of a clicking in the engine. It was a very important issue and it took two different representatives from GWC to get the work done. Also, it took a very long amount of time, which was around two months but everything turned out well. I’ve had warranty issues before and I would have liked a little more personal contact with the representative but my dealership handled it as well as could be. I would probably purchase another warranty from this company.

The quality of GWC Warranty's service is great. Getting a vehicle service contract is typically the norm of me. If I buy a used car, I would get some type of warranty on it just to be safe. Compared to my previous warranty provider, GWC is better. I was out of town when I got the other warranty so anything that I had to get fixed was almost a hassle. Purchasing the warranty was straightforward. The rep laid everything out on the line for me, so I was satisfied. Everything was straightforward with my claim as well. I went back to the dealer where I bought the car from and they walked me through filing the claim. Then we called the warranty. I told them what the problem was. And they told me my options and directed where I could go. I then went to a transmission place and GWC handled everything with the transmission place. Then they called to verify everything with me. They handled my situation amazingly. Plus, the repair took less than a day.

He explained everything to me and he sent a copy of the contract to me before we purchase so I could look it over and see if this is what I was looking for.
The claim process could have been improved. I just recently had an experience where I had to have some front end work done which, for the most part, was covered under the warranty. I had the dealer call GWC and explain to them what was wrong, and they verified it, and they sent a guy out to inspect it and make sure what they were saying was correct. Once he approved it, which took a couple of days, then GWC authorized the repairs. The only thing I did not like was that GWC did not pay for the small parts like nuts and bolts and I thought that was pretty petty for what I paid for the warranty but it’s not something that would cause me not to renew a contract with them. It took ten days to complete the repair because they had to order parts from overseas. Overall, I’m happy with GWC. In fact, I’m intending to get ahold of them when this warranty expires to see about extending it later on after October.

I’ve had to make deals for things that weren’t even relevant. There were things that we would fight with that eventually got covered and there were things that weren’t. I’ve had my oil lines, injectors, injector harness and radiator replaced. I had my fuse box replaced and that wasn’t covered either. Also, when I was in the process to get my truck fixed, half of the time I couldn’t even get them to pay for my rental.
When I bought the truck, it was all right. The moment I pulled it off the lot, my check engine light came on. The truck had a misfire and they wouldn't cover it. The truck started falling apart and they kept saying that it was just wear. How could I wear it out when I’ve only had the truck since September? I’m very frustrated. In September 2018 we started to have trouble with the transmission, GWC told me the name of an authorized repair shop to bring it to, we needed a new transmission. The first transmission that GWC had sent over was not good, the repair shop notified GWC and had to go back and forth with them for a week in order for them to have another transmission sent over, they finally agreed to do it. That transmission was installed and it still was not 100% but the repair shop said to drive it around a bit and see how it goes. I did contact GWC right away regarding my policy being extended being it was due to them taking so long and having to send a second transmission that I didn’t even have the car to use for 3 weeks.
Long story short, today we had to have the car towed due to the transmission that we did not even put 5000 miles on, I called GWC and was told that there is absolutely no warranty on the transmission that they had replaced being I do not have a contract with them anymore. I talked to several places and the transmission should have a warranty, I understand that I may have to pay for labor again but for a new transmission is ridiculous. My first auto claim with GWC Warranty was pretty bad. When my alternator went out, I took my car to an authentic BMW auto shop where they were going to replace it with an authentic BMW alternator. However, GWC said that they would only cover $500 because they saw that there was a part out there that was worth $500. It sucked that I had to pay $500 out-of-pocket as well as for the oil changes when I paid for the warranty already. As far as the coverage goes, it was a waste of time. Their customer service has been okay though. When my alternator first went out and my vehicle broke down on the side of the road, I called in and they were able to get a tow truck dispatched to me in a timely manner. They’ve always been polite and kept a professional manner.
GWC Warranty should outline the fact that they won’t cover certain manufacturer parts. They said that it was part of their policy that they can replace your part with a new or used part. They leave it kinda broadened. It was a grey area when they said that they could replace the part with a new one from the BMW dealership, but they were choosing not to. They were gonna replace it with another part. They should remove that gray area and go into more detail about what they are willing to replace, what they aren’t willing to replace, and the amount that they’re willing to cover.

Owen, I am sorry to hear about your experience. Thank you for the feedback on adding clarity to our contracts regarding coverage on manufacturer's parts. We take our customers feedback seriously as we continue to improve our customer experience every day.

I had the regular warranty when I first bought my truck. The warranty puts me at ease to where if something major happens, I don’t have to come up with thousands to fix anything. When I went to have my service done on my vehicle, I asked the people there about warranties. They told me about GWC, and that’s when I purchased their warranty the first time. When the regular warranty ran out, I just kept buying the extended warranty. I just renewed my warranty with them and this time, somebody called me and I got a letter saying that my warranty was about to run out, so I called and ordered it again.
Wear and tear of the vehicle is my problem, but with GWC, I know my truck would be fixed if something happens. My vehicle has only been to the dealership for them to work on it, and I don’t take it to just anybody. I stay with one person so I know who’s working on my vehicle. If anything happens, I know one person that has done the job. If there are any repairs that need to be done on my vehicle, I take it to where I bought it. A couple of times my claim had something to do with the air conditioning. When I turned it on, it made a humming noise, so they fixed that. I take the truck to the dealership and if they find anything, they call it in and tell me that the warranty covers it.
The GWC warranty is really expensive. The first time I purchased a warranty, it was $2,500. This one was almost $5,000 and I put $500 down. I was gonna see if I could make the payments cheaper if I put more money down, but it would only be cheaper by $15 or $20 so it's not worth putting another $500 for that. Nonetheless, Steph the sales rep has been really helpful and courteous. I'd be at work and I’d ask him if he could call me back at this time, and by the time I got home, he was calling me back at the right time.

GWC came highly recommended by the dealership where we purchased our truck from, and so we opted for it. Unfortunately, we didn’t even have the truck for 24 hours and the transmission went out. But we were very pleased that things went well and it was fixed quicker than what we expected. We were able to pick the truck up and haven’t had any problems since.

GWC Warranty was recommended by the car lot I bought my car from and I have been with them since June 11, 2018. My experience has been great so far. The reps helped me out when I had a claim for my transmission and it took them two weeks to process it from start to finish. They were great and their customer service was great as well. Their cost is all wrapped up in the price of my car and it works. It is also good to the quality of their service.

GWC honored some repair work I had done on my BMW. I had an issue where the backup camera wasn’t working and I took it down to Wyoming Valley Motors in Wilkes-Barre. But then I got a call from the service department and they said GWC wouldn't cover the backup camera. It wasn’t part of the warranty. So I went off the rails. I fought with these guys for two days and it was a lot of aggravation. It got pretty nasty and intense. I actually drove down to Wilkes-Barre and talked to the finance manager. I had paid $5,000 for this and they sold me this warranty. I told him that they had to get it straightened out because I was not paying for it and I wanted it done right then.
Normally, I trade vehicles every three years but this is like a 640. It’s a lot of money. So I decided at the end of the lease to keep it. But I was over the mileage so I couldn't get the CPO from BMW and the finance manager there told me that this warranty was actually probably better than the BMW CPO. I told him to look me right in the face and tell me that, and I would take him at his word. So I ended up buying the GWC warranty. I’m pretty much sold on the pretense that I bought the best warranty I could. But in the situation that I had with Wyoming Valley Motors, they said no. I guess there is a level 1 warranty and I, more or less, got the level 2. But I told them I didn't care about the navigation system. I was more concerned about the drivetrain.
For that issue, I had a real bad experience to start with but at the end of the day, GWC took care of it. I don’t know whether Wyoming Valley Motors fought with GWC and GWC caved. But at the end of the day, I’m just happy that GWC covered it and that Wyoming Valley Motors got it covered. Somebody else, who had experience with it, told me that a lot of times, it depends on how much hold the dealer has with the warranty company. The bigger the dealer and the more business I do with them, the more GWC would be inclined to cover something. When I had some issues down here in Ferman BMW in Tampa, Florida, GWC covered everything. I don’t know whether there was an issue with the dealers and GWC covered this at Ferman because they do more business with Ferman than Wyoming Valley Motors. But it's nice to get what you paid for.
In summary, I’ve had two issues with GWC Warranty and one started off unpleasant but it ended up good, and the second one was fantastic. So I’ve had a good experience with GWC and I appreciate it. I would also certainly recommend it. So far, they’ve done everything they said they were gonna do. If I had to go through this situation again, I would certainly buy the extended warranty from GWC.

I called Haynes Motor for the vehicle I was interested in, and the guy asked me if I wanted a warranty with it. He then gave me GWC. Haynes helped me out with them. The benefits was pretty winnable. The service agent said some mechanics were just too much, and they didn’t always approve their pricing. So, certain mechanics didn’t take it. My wife had it on her Volkswagen, and then when she went somewhere, they were pretty helpful with everything.
I have filed a claim once and the warrantly company was pretty fast. The mechanic gave me more problems than the warranty company did. He was kind of taking long giving me what I need to get the claims started. The warranty is a protection in a sense. The problem that I had with my vehicle was it wasn’t part of the warranty. It was more like something with the frontend. My warranty didn’t cover that so that was pretty disgusting. But, other than that, for the part that they did cover, it was a safety net.

However, when the dealership tried to contact GWC, GWC didn’t get back to them for a month and a half, which was ridiculous. I went through five quarts of power steering fluid during that time. They do not care about any damage that can occur due to non-standard equipment. Definitely never getting coverage with them ever again even though both my other vehicles are due for renewal. Was not covered because seals are not covered in their warranty, even though it was on the junkyard tranny they put in. Radio quit working - Denied claim. Win Module failed - Denied Claim. Oil pump failed - Denied Claim. They first tried to say I did not change the oil enough in the 13000 miles in 3 years I put on my truck. I change my own oil, so I sent my mileage and dates of the 3 oil changes I did on it. So come to find out, I did change it enough for the mileage, so they then said because I didn't change it every 6 months, then once again DENIED CLAIM. So basically I needed to change my oil 6 times in 13000 miles. Long story short, they keep finding reasons to deny your claim until they find one. What they are doing is criminal.

The dealership that suggested GWC seemed trustworthy, and they also didn't upcharge it a lot like a lot of other people do. They showed me what they pay for it, and what they were selling it to me for. My claims experience with GWC was smooth. The dealership where I took my car called, and they checked. But they were kind of a new dealership. And so, it took them a little bit of time to figure it out and to get it. They wouldn't release the car until it was paid. But I was under the impression that that warranty would work, and that they would work it out at some point. But I didn't know how quickly it could or couldn't work.
It was at Honda Weatherford in Texas. And they didn't get me a loaner car, but they only had the car one day. They fixed the power steering pump because it was really weak. They calculated that it was bad and then, they called GWC and explained it and then they got approval for it. GWC ordered the part from another dealership in Fort Worth and got it later that afternoon and was working on getting it finished. I was impressed they were able do all that.
Having a warranty is valuable considering I've had cars my whole life, and they've always broken down somewhere. I've had good experience with GWC, so far. And the car that I bought was in a good shape when I got it, but it ended up needing a few things. And I should have called, but I wasn't sure it needed a timing belt, and it hadn't been changed. And so, I had the fella change it before I took it over to get the power steering pump because it's sort of warrantied but only if it breaks. But if it breaks, the engine gets ruined. I know they don't cover preventive maintenance but it seemed like it would cost a lot more to the warranty company if it broke and it ruined the engine than if they were to fix it in the first place.

Thomas, thank you for the review! You're right. Vehicles do break at certain points throughout their life cycle and it's safer to have a vehicle service contract in place to help with those repairs.

Right now, I've probably passed the breakeven point with all expenses so I've been happy.

July of 2018 I purchased a BMW and GWC warranty came with the car. (Without my permission) 3 months later I started having problems with the car. It started pulling to either side and wandering all over the road. I started to hear a popping sound when I turned the steering wheel in either direction. I took it to the shop and they said it needed $12,000 worth of work done. GWC sent out their appraiser and he agreed with the shop. GWC said that they would only cover $700 of the cost.
The imminent problem with the car is the rack & pinion steering. It's covered in my warranty but GWC will not honor it. I have been without my car for over a month now. The shop wants me to sign a disclaimer stating that they are not responsible if I get into an accident. REALLY! I have spoken with my attorney and the dealership I purchased the BMW from. I bought a BMW a few years ago and I knew the water pump gets filled at 80,000 miles. Plus, BMW has the Twin Turbo system. With the amount of miles that I drive every year, I thought to find a contract just in case the water pump goes out. I purchased a contract with GWC Warranty for $2,500, but that contract was useless for me when I needed the repairs.
When the water pump failed, GWC would only pay $800 towards a used or aftermarket water pump. A BMW water pump is about $1,400 installed and BMW would never put in a used or an aftermarket part on that car. Then, there were some other issues with the car and GWC didn't wanna pay for it. My total bill was $8,900 and from that, they only wanna pay the $800 towards the water pump. It was a terrible experience. My warranty was for five years, but after two years, I traded my car in. I was still 50,000 miles below the limit of the warranty. I contacted GWC and said that I wanted to cancel the warranty, but they didn’t wanna give me any money back because I already used $800. I purchased an extended warranty for GWC when I purchased my 2012 Fl50 back in November. Started getting a squealing/grinding sound whenever AC compressor would kick on. Took truck to dealership and got a call for the service writer stating it was going to cost me 185.00 due to GWC would only pay for .3 hours of diagnostic time. I called GWC this morning and they informed me this repair only required .3 hr diagnostic time due to it fell under the sight, smell, or hearing list of diagnosis list. I informed the customer rep. that all shops charge a flat rate normally the cost of mechanic services for one hour. The rep. told me they would not pay this amount due to the fact there's no way it took longer than that and that what Alldata calls for.
I asked for a list of garages that used Alldata labor hour schedule or a list of garages that prorated diagnostic charges and was told they could not. I responded to the rep that's because it does not exist. Then spoke with manager who went on to inform me that a Ford dealership could not diagnosis an bad cylinder without tearing the motor down. Ah yes. They can using their computer. Been there done that with old truck (and after tearing motor down to rebuild it all compression test ran by computer were spot on.) I then asked if they would require motor torn down if that happened to my truck and was told yes but they will only pay up to one hour diagnostic time. So now after I should only have to pay 100.00 deductible.
I'm now out 185.00. Could have bought compressor for 245.00 dollars and put on my self and had AC recharged for 65.00 and been done in one day. Now day three without truck that won't be ready till tomorrow. GWC has no clue what repairs really cost nor do they care. The repair shop informed me that the transmission needed to be replaced. I thought that rebuilding a new transmission would be covered. NO!! What was covered was replacing my shot transmission with a used transmission that has the same miles on it as my defective one. What kind of warranty coverage is that? What are we paying for? The adjustor said if I want a rebuilt transmission, I could pay the additional 700.00, but if I had that kind of money for immediate use, there would be no need for a warranty. I am so disappointed. Once again I am stuck waiting for GWC to process a claim on my car. Despite assurances from the dealer that I bought the car from, the GWC contract is far from worry free. And don’t fall for the “pay the deductible and you’re on your way” garbage. There is so much that GWC will not cover. From programming the defective transmission they force you to use in your repair to refusing to cover the alignment after steering repairs to forcing you to pay for sales tax even though you already paid tax on the contract purchase. (Did some research there and pretty sure I am due a refund). Used their “preferred” provider this last time around to try and get something to go easier and found myself without a car for two weeks this time instead of the 5 days it took the last time. Don’t trust them or believe they care about anything but the bottom line. I have nothing against a company making money but they do go out of the way to do as little as possible.

I've been fortunate to have GWC because that would have been a lot of money. I don't know how much my next warranty will cost me but they told me that they’re going to remind me by extending the warranty the second time. I would recommend them as well.
The only issue I have is with the people that I had to go to to get my car fixed. There's always something, even right now. Tomorrow, I have to take the car to the Chrysler dealership because I've had issues with it. But I just got my car last Wednesday night when I had to get a transmission. But then, I had also just picked it up on November when they had to put another motor in it. The only holdup is the third party too. As far as GWC themselves, I've had no problem with them. They're easy and real friendly to work with. They jump on top of everything. They told me to take the car back to the dealership, to make them fix what I paid them for. The gentleman I spoke with said he had also already pulled up the warranty. He said that if the car shuts off, it's something to do with the fuel tank. And every time I start it up, it does shut off. But he said GWC covered it.

We paid a total of $5,750 to GWC Warranty to cover our car to 2020. Overall owning this car was an excellent experience since it is a reliable car, but until recently our heater went out, and we drove it to Mercedes-Benz of Bellevue for a repair. The total for the repair (parts+diagnosis+labor) was nearly $2,000, and I ended up having to pay for $1375,32.
Both the dealer and I called GWC Warranty, and the response we got is they were only going to pay for one hour of diagnosis and two hours of labor plus the parts, and the labor cost they are willing to pay was $117 as it is the city average labor cost in the city of Bellevue. What's pathetic about this company is we paid for the most expensive package they offered in 2016, and yet they only paid for just a bit over 30% of my recent repair. It is tough to believe how GWC Warranty gets returning customer by not providing the services we as a consumer paid for. The dealer didn’t explain the coverage well though. They were like, "Get them. They gonna take care of you all the way around." That was their thing.
When I had a claim, everything was smooth but the process took a while. I knew we had to go through a process but it took a little bit extra than what I thought. We had to wait for the other dealership and then they had to break the car down. When I initially called GWC, I took the car to Amica because it was a big name but it also was a big mess with them. I had a bad experience and then in the next week, my sister had a bad experience with them as well. When I got the car to Townsend and they got everything rolling. They're doing a new motor now. I've had two claims. On the first time, all I did was give the dealer my info and they set it all up. Then they called and let me know when it was clear for me to come in and bring the vehicle. Then on the second time, the dealer had to order a part so they got in touch with GWC for what they would pay. I also had to go in and pay my part. Then on the actual day the car was going to be fixed, the dealer had me waiting for GWC to send the check. That took a little time. I guess they got really busy that day. I waited about an hour from the time the dealer finished my vehicle until the time the warranty company sent the check. But still, my experience with GWC has been good so far.

I brought a powertrain warranty in December 2018 from GWC. In February of 2019 the throttle body in my 09 Cadillac CTS went bad, so I called GWC and they told me I could take the car to my mechanic for the repair. When my mechanic called GWC and told them the problem my car had, they REFUSED to cover the cost. DON'T WASTE YOUR Money ON THIS COMPANY! FiND A REAL WARRANTY COMPANY!

Jeff, I am sorry to hear about your experience. We looked into our records and spoke with one of our claims managers. The request for coverage was on the throttle body and two leaking gaskets. I purchased a 2013 Dodge Charger rt. Very nice and clean car so I thought. The dealership I got it from hyped it up saying they had been driving the car. Since getting it, I went out to look at it. Ended up getting. That was December 12, 2018. Within two weeks of me buying the car I started to smell coolant coming through the vents, so I looked under the hood. The water pump was bad and the dealership had cleaned it up so it wouldn’t look like it had a leak. So, ok fine no big deal. I paid to have the water pump and thermostat replaced. Two weeks after that I’m having the same things. I had to pull over cause my temp gauge kept going up and down. I pop the hood. Coolant is shooting out everywhere. Long story short my coolant houses had busted. Once again I paid outta pocket cause that’s not covered in the warranty!
This all happen in the beginning of January 2019. My car is now in the shop as of 2/13/2019 with the same issue so I called GWC this time and had it out in the shop with AAMCO which is saying I have blown head gaskets. They finally tear down my engine block and taking a look but this where it gets crazy. GWC is now saying if the car has extreme overheating they will not cover it which is not fair by any means. The car clearly had issues with the previous owner. I’ve only had the car for a good two months. Now I’m no mechanic but I know my basics around a engine block and there is no way possible you can make that much damage to the engine. This clearly was done before I ever came across the vehicle. If GWC doesn’t pay I will bin 3200 dollars in the hole and can’t get my vehicle till I pay half of that out.

Tevin, thank you for your message. I spoke with one of our managers and we are currently working with the shop on the claim. If you have any questions or would like to know the status of the claim, please feel free to call us.

My vehicle was coming up at the end of the warranty and I wanted the protection. It's a BMW and it’s not my first so I know. But I've filed a claim a couple of times with GWC and I’m not 100% happy. The vehicle comes in with little things, like the lights are off or something is leaking. But for example, my car was sounding terrible and even after they've found an oil leak and fixed it, my car still sounds the same. So I’m sure there’s a deeper problem to that that wasn’t fixed. Another example is if something is happening with my car but it's not presenting itself at the same exact times that the car is being looked at, then it's not fixed. I would keep documenting it but I guess it’s not a straightforward thing. I’m also not happy because a lot of the things are not covered. They would say some of the items are covered but not the rest, and I feel like it’s been a enormous amount of money. But it's a warranty so those things should be covered.

Honey, thank you for your feedback. After reviewing with one of our claims managers, we see your vehicle service contract covered a leaking oil filter housing gasket and control arm bushings. There was an out-of-pocket cost for the tail lamp housing repair. It had a broken clip that was preventing the turn signal from operating. Assembly for this item is not eligible for coverage, and broken/missing hardware isn't classified as a defect in materials or workmanship. If you have any questions regarding your claim, please give us a call. We'd be happy to help. Thank you for your message.

I bought a used car and the dealership recommended GWC Warranty. Recently, I had some issue with the car and the dealership told me what it was gonna cost to fix it. Then I remembered that I had the warranty, so I pulled open the paperwork, went through it to make sure that it was something that was covered and it was. I just paid the deductible and the process was good. I would always recommend getting a warranty. You never know what could happen down the road. Any time you buy a car, there will always be something that goes wrong with it no matter what, especially when you buy a used car, and you definitely wanna buy a warranty with it. I would’ve spent about the same amount on the warranty so it has broken even.

I was told that the engine went and then they changed it. However, the engine that they put in didn't work so they had to change it again. They got another engine and the vehicle responded well to it. But then something happened and they needed to get something about a computer. BMW parts are expensive and GWC Warranty was right next to my BMW service department. My claims experience with GWC Warranty has been perfect. They covered everything that was already busted. Nothing I thought that should be covered has not been covered. But it's quite inconvenient that engine coils or spark plugs are only covered once they actually go bad. When one goes bad, they all start going bad. I had to make additional trips to replace them once they went bad. My service guy files the claims for me. I have the warranty in a BMW-enclosed folder and I don't even open it up. I hand it to my service department agent and he looks at it. Then, it's all on the computer.

Since then, we let the car go back. And then the company that we bought the vehicle from filed a claim on my behalf to GWC, and GWC paid it. When the claim was submitted on my behalf, I got a text message that asks about my experience. I’ve called GWC and asked them what it was regarding, and they said that the company where we bought the vehicle from called in a claim on my behalf. I told them that I was not very happy about them paying that out. They said there should be a refund on my warranty and I never received anything. First I must make clear, I am reviewing from 2 points of view. As I am both a customer and a service repair provider. There are poor warranty companies out there, but GWC is not one of them. I have read negative reviews that clearly show a total lack of understanding about coverage, as well as warranty holders making poor selections in repair facilities. We have succeeded in opening and submitting and being paid for many claims to this company. As long as the coverage is correct and the repair facilities are honest it is one of the easiest warranty providers to deal with. I have never had to wait for this company to call me back to move forward on repairs. They handle 99% of all claims on the first call.
All you need is a vin# and an honest estimate for repairs, if you try and cheat the system you will have trouble. If not, it's a smooth and fast transaction. That is why when we purchased a used car for my son we purchased coverage from them. My best piece of advice is fully understand WHAT IS ACTUALLY COVERED in your warranty choice. Do not rely on the salesman to educate you, that is your responsibility when you're spending thousands of dollars. Also, MAINTAIN YOUR CAR, oil, fluid, and filter service etc. You will hopefully never have to call on the warranty company.

Purchased this warranty on my 2011 BMW 335i xDrive and 5 months after purchase I heard some weird sounds from the engine bay. I towed the car to the shop and it was deemed that an internal piece had failed and I needed a new motor. My mechanic called the company and they wanted him to take the car apart to verify the failure, but then wanted me to pay for the labor they would only cover 1 hour because they considered it diagnostics. Which I found dumb since they were the ones that wanted him to take apart the engine and find the specific problem.
After he did such, they wanted me to call BMW and get them to fix it because it was a part they had fixed 5 YEARS AGO!! On a recall, so the warranted part was expired. I spoke with Stephen ** on the phone and he said I needed to get a receipt just to show that it was completed because in their system it didn't say when it was completed. I called back and told another manager that I spoke with BMW and they said the recall was completed on my car in 2014 when the car had 32k miles on it at the dealer and that it was out of the warranty period. He said okay and immediately called the shop to have an adjuster come out the next day to look at it.
After the adjuster came out and looked at it, he agreed that it needed a new motor as well. The next morning I called the company and they told me multiple times that the adjuster should be calling the shop soon to discuss the process of getting a new motor. 2 hours later the shop calls me and says GWC is not fixing it because they say BMW should fix it since it was a recall. Even though they already fixed the recall, so I called the dealership where the recall was done and got proof that they completed the recall and called back and the manager Stephen ** tells me that I need BMW to write that they won't fix the car since their warranty expired.
After all this back and forth my car has been in the shop for a week dismantled on their order and he comes up with the most insane reasons as to why he shouldn't fix it. First they say I need to get the receipt as proof that the recall was done because it's not in their system when it was done and now I get the proof and he wants the dealership to write me a letter saying they won't fix it??!! And while I am speaking with Stephen on the phone he hangs up on me. Very rude and disrespectful. This warranty company is the worse, they will do everything to not fix your car.

I was having some brake problems and I contacted the gentleman at GWC to file the claim. As far as filing a claim with them, it was easy in the beginning, but I ran through some trouble with them when it came to communicating with the shop that my vehicle was at. GWC seemed as if they were the ones fixing the car other than the shop. The mechanics were telling them what the issues were going on with the vehicle. But according to the GWC representative, they only felt that certain stuff needed to be fixed instead of other things. I ended up having to come out of pocket for at least 60% of the work that was done, besides the $500 deductible.
The only explanation that GWC gave was that it was what the computer on their end told them compared to what the mechanics told them. I was beside the mechanic, and I was under the vehicle and saw all the issues that were going on. I spoke to the GWC representative as well, and they spoke to the mechanics, and there was just a whole bunch of not agreeing. GWC's quality of service was pretty piss-poor. It wasn't the best experience ever. I needed my vehicle at that time, so it was pretty rough.
I tried calling to get my GWC policy canceled, and they weren't too friendly about it. They just told me to contact the dealer who I purchased the vehicle from and that they weren't allowed to speak with me about canceling it. My biggest issue was that they weren't trying to work with me. And from the mechanics’ perspective, GWC wasn't trying to work with them as well. So they very terrible customer representation.

*THEY WILL STEAL YOUR MONEY AND CRAWFISH OUT OF MAJOR REPAIRS* We purchased a Powertrain Plus policy on 04/03/2018 when we purchased our 2015 F150. The term is 36 months or 38,500 miles for $1,020.00. *This is important*. The truck came with aftermarket tires, they were Federal 35’s on a 17” stock rim and a level in the front. It had 91,949 miles on it off the lot.
About 4 months later, the starter goes out. Ford fixed it for a great price and GWC gladly paid their part, while we paid our deductible and taxes. They did not send an inspector or anything of the sort, no questions asked. We go out of town for work, and find some great tires for a good price. We purchase them, Nitto 35’s on Ford stock 17” rim. No difference. Months later, there is a chime in the rear end, so we take it to Ford. The serviceman says, “it’s great that you have a warranty, if we have to disassemble your back end and put in bearings per se, it’s $890 for just that and parts.” (The truck only has 111,420 miles or so on it.)
So we leave and a day later, my husband gets a call and they ask him a few questions, and ASK ABOUT HIS TIRES, he tells GWC that they are 35’s and the same size that was bought on the truck when the warranty was signed, the person says “Ok, That’s fine.” And they send an inspector out to assess the problem in the rear end.
Ford calls and says that our repairs are not covered due to the tire size. We call GWC and we immediately get a dry representative who repetitively says, “you have the wrong size tires, I’ll transfer you to cancellations, you won’t get anything back though”. “I am unable to do anything, want me to send you to cancellations?” My husband asks for someone in management to resolve the issue, thinking there is surely some confusion. The GWC manager that we spoke to after, cared very little about our situation. He cut my husband off multiple times and spoke over him almost every time he tried to explain what has happened. He only stated that our policy is void because of the tires and no refund can be made, that we will need to cancel our policy and take up our troubles with the dealer.
GWC does not care how long you have to work to buy their $1,000 policies, they have no compassion in a justified situation. GWC has poor management that lacks any type of customer service. THEY DO NOT inspect the vehicles that they offer to warranty beforehand, it will be on your dollar if they can get out of it. *So, with over half of our warranty still left, we will have to fix our vehicle out of pocket and file for a small claims dispute with GWC in court if we want to see any of our money.
You would think given the special circumstance of not being informed and reassured of our situation, they would honor a refund to their customers. I would completely understand if we purposely put 44” Boggers on and stripped the gears out, and THEN demanded it to be fixed...but we didn’t. Compassion for a hard worker’s dime... It’s not in GWC’s policy.

Morgan, I am sorry to hear about your experience. We have reached out regarding this same review on Facebook and can continue our conversation there. However, as we have discussed, the tire size does add additional stress on the vehicle, which is why this claims was denied. Thank you for reaching out to us.

I bought a used car from the dealer in Holly Park, New Jersey through GWC Warranty. I picked out the vehicle and the rep walked through the step-by-step procedure. He also checked out all my ratings. There were some small issues with the vehicle when I got it and he was going to take care of it for me. There was a two-year warranty left on the vehicle and I've used that. He explained that the warranty that I have left is a very limited warranty and it doesn't cover anything with the powertrain at all. When I got the GWC paperwork, they offered a contract but I wanted to know how it covered. It was $1,500 but I didn’t understand the process itself. I've only used it one time at the dealership and they did their job. There weren’t any problems with it. There are some issues with the brakes but when I bought the vehicle, I noticed that and so, he said that the brakes wouldn't be covered at the Nissan dealership. I would have to go back and see.
I've only been with GWC for a while but they seem to be very pleasant. They offered an extended warranty contract to me and I'm gonna get in touch because I need to look at that. I felt like I don't have to worry about anything. But when the time came to use it, it was useless. I had a problem with the car and I called GWC's contact number and I was told their preferred repair shop was about 100 miles from my home. That was ridiculous.
When I asked them if I could I take the car to Mercedes or to the dealer, they said I could take it to the dealer, but they would not pay. They would pay whatever they could but they would want me to take it to their preferred mechanic shop. I was not gonna pay for the tow for 100 miles to take my car to their preferred repair shop so I took it to the nearby shop and they did the evaluation. They said that my car is a Mercedes-Benz and the parts could only be replaced by the Mercedes dealer and that there was nothing they could do. I ended up paying almost $170 for that check-up. I had no choice and I took it to the Mercedes dealer.
The Mercedes dealer replaced the part and I had to pay my deductible, but then GWC did not pay the repair and just paid partially. The customer service was very awful because I was having a hard time pushing these and that button and when I talked to the rep, he was very rude. He said that was what they were gonna do, that was the choice I had and that it was up to me to take it or leave it. I would never recommend GWC. This is just a bogus plan and they don’t do what they say.

Adbur, I am sorry to hear about your experience. The out-of-pocket costs you experienced were in fact due to the difference in labor rate between your Mercedes shop and what was allowable under your contract. I purchased a 36 month extended warranty on my 2005 Chevy Corvette for $2300 through GWC, so far this warranty has been a complete disappointment, they do whatever they can to avoid claims, there is an issue with my ECM and I get a “service active handling” message that pops up and engages the brakes on 1 front tire causing the car to swerve. Very dangerous! The dealer even provided them with all of the info they needed but still denied the claim because it is an intermittent issue and it did not happen when the inspector from GWC arrived who refused to go on a test drive to experience the issue, it did however happen with the techs and they were able to diagnose the issue but GWC still denied the claim. I am still dealing with this dangerous issue today.
Earlier this week I experienced a mechanical issue, I wasn’t too concerned about it since I spent $2300 on an extended warranty. My fiancée and I purchased a vehicle and the credit union recommended we use GWC for the warranty. Reluctantly, we did. About 3 months after we purchased the vehicle, it started dumping oil and the AC went out. They refused to cover the oil leaks, which was the rear main seal and oil pan gasket, and covered the AC for about half of what the market value is. We were out of pocket $1200 for those repairs. When we bought the warranty, we were assured that it was the best available and would cover anything that happened. Now the truck is in the shop again because the fuel lines are apparently rusted out and it is pouring gas out of the top of the tank. I have found 1 shop in my area that is willing to work with them, and we are both worried that this will also not be covered.

Jamey, I am sorry to hear about your experience. It is my understanding that you have spoken with our claims department who clarified that your rusted fuel pump, fuel lines and filler neck are not covered since the issues your are experiencing are not related to a mechanical breakdown. I apologize for any confusion and thank you for reaching out to us. Should you have any more questions, please feel free to give us a call at 1-800-482-7357.
