    I've had CarShield for quite a while. When submitting a claim, anytime we have to spend any money, we got an attitude about it. But the service is always good.     I contacted CarShield through the telephone and tried to apply with them, but they turned me down. They said that the odometer had too much mileage on it at the year of the vehicle and the odometer had been turned back. I had no idea when I bought the car.

    I had CarShield before on my other car. The signup process was too rushed. They did not give me a chance to think about it. I knew I needed it, but I wanted a day to call back after I got quoted. But then I was told that the quote that they gave me then is not going to be good if I call back, so I got it. That would have been my only complaint.

    And then, the last time that I had the CarShield on my other car, it seems like that everything that was broken down was not covered by CarShield. The motor mounts were not covered and something in the engine that I thought should have been covered was not covered. But I did get it again for another car. So I'll have to see if CarShield stands by their word about getting the parts fixed.

    I've had coverage with CarShield for many years right now. I got it when I had the 2007 Grand Caravan and AAA. When I saw what it covered, I figured I'd take a chance and it saved me a lot of money.

    My radio blew out twice in my 2016 Dodge. If it wasn’t for CarShield, that would have been a lot of money. It was never a problem getting in touch with a representative. The only problem I had is with car dealerships. My one car dealer who sells used cars, he had no problem with it. Dodge, Chrysler, Ford, they had problems with it. They don't want to give up their profit or write-off.

    And the radio I just got about a year ago, that was the second one that burned out on this 2016 Dodge. So when they went to reorder the same one, they didn't make it anymore. So I actually got a Bluetooth. It's got USB input, an auxiliary input, I can have Sirius radio if I want it. My cellphone answers through it. Everything is hands-free.

    It was pretty easy to sign up with CarShield. The first time I filed a claim, they took care of everything. This last time, I had to do everything. I brought my car to the place they recommended and when I brought it out, it had a whole another set of issues that wasn’t there when I first started. I called CarShield and they told me to be firm with them. This last time was just horrible. I was really thinking about canceling my policy.

    I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the monthly Powertrain Gold plan. You might think you are covered for the powertrain, but you may not be. Read and reread and get a mechanic to read the coverage that you are getting. My transmission started giving me trouble, took to a dealer. I was told that I would be responsible for any portion CarShield did not pay. Dealer contacted CarShield and it was denied based on the warranty (some parts in the transmission are not covered). Again, please read what is covered under the warranty. This is going to cost me 4000 dollars.

    I needed a policy to cover with anything that happened with my car because the warranty on it had stopped. I knew I was going to need something to cover it because I'm a female by myself. So, I didn't want any problems headed down the road to when I need my car fixed. I got a contract with CarShield and I've been with them for almost four years. I filed a couple of claims with them and the process was smooth. So, I'm happy with that. I reached out to them to start the claim, then they contacted the mechanic's office. and they finished up the process from there. For a couple of instances, I went on and paid for the service on my Porsche, and CarShield did what they had to do on their end.

    Other than that, I noticed that got to go back and forth with the mechanic about who was going to have the better price in shipping parts. When the parts are local, they should just go with the local shop and stop trying to undercut everything or go with cheaper parts. Also, for the price I'm paying, they should incorporate the cost of the parts in. Other than that, I use their app on my phone and it's user-friendly. So far, my experiences with CarShield have been okay and I have no complaints.

    The car was repaired but it took all 7 days just before they were able to give my mechanic the approval to do the repairs. We didn't have to wait on parts or anything. CarShield only reimburses for 7 days for rental regarding my claim. For all 7 days my car waited for an approval on repairs and by the time he was able to start the repairs, which took 2 additional days, I had to pay for the extra days or return the car.

    I was interested in CarShield when I saw their commercials. I gave them a call to see what they were offering. The sign-up process was very good. The guy that I spoke to explained everything in detail. He told me the pricing. He went over everything that's on the paperwork and details and told me how my account was set up. I made a claim a few months ago. I had an issue with my vehicle. I had to call because the mechanic shop said that I would have to call first. Then once I called CarShield, then they called them to verify everything. The claim process was fast once I spoke to the guy on the phone. The person I spoke to transferred me to a guy. Then they gave me a claim number. After that, they reached out to the shop as well.

    The claim process was good. CarShield called me back to confirm if I wanted to proceed with the repair. Then I received an email and a text message saying that the process was through and sent me an email of the documentation as well. It was a smooth transition from filing the claim to getting the process done. They provided good customer service and they didn't make it harder than it needed to be.

    The CarShield policy is what I expected of that type of aftermarket coverage. Nothing was very bad. Nothing was great with it because when the car is so old, they can only cover so much. But I knew that, so there were no surprises. When I had a claim, they paid a portion of it, but there were other items that were part of the work that were not exactly covered. The paperwork that CarShield had and the paperwork that I paid were a little different, but overall, everything went smoothly.

    The claims process at CarShield was a little vigorous for me. The process is you take your car to a dealership, and they call them and file the claim. However, I had to be on three-way with them to even get them to give the place that they have under their umbrella to get your car fixed to get a claim number. The problem was they wanted to know what the exact part was, and the man was saying, if he goes in to find out the exact part, that it would be nine hours' worth of labor.

    CarShield said, “We don't have the exact part. We're not gonna pay for the labor.” I said, “How can they find out the exact part if you don't wanna pay for the labor?” This last time, I had an issue with CarShield. It wasn’t a good experience. In the end, I had to say that I would pay for the labor, although, in the end, it was the part that was covered and CarShield paid. But it was a little back and forth to even get the work that my car had been with them for a month.

    Nobody told me anything about the rental and then because I didn't have a claim number, I would be responsible for the rental. So it was a whole lot of poor communication. That was my second claim. My first claim was the same. There wasn't any problem with getting a claim number. This time, it was a problem with receiving the payment. The car was done. It had been with them for a month. The car was completed. I got there to check out, and they' said, “Oh, CarShield has not paid us.” I had to get on the phone with CarShield to get them to pay so I could get my car. It was just a headache.

    For my claim with CarShield, I had the owner of the transmission shop call, and they took it all by their selves and worked it out. But they didn't come close to paying the whole bill, but it sure saved a lot of money. I had a $100 deductible, and that was fine, but it cost me $1,000. I paid $1,000 so $100 went to my deductible and $900 went to the part that they wouldn't pay. They did what they said they would do to an extent, but I went to a place that a transmission was like 5,500, GM wanted over 8,000. CarShield has a list, and if the broke down part is on the list, it looks like they do a good job paying. The only problem is sometimes, I think it should be on the list but they say no.

    My factory warranty was running out so I needed another one. I went with CarShield based on the commercials. In any event, whatever I needed, I got it fixed, but I still needed more work done because it was like a partial thing. I only got one side done. But nevertheless, eventually, I was able to get the whole thing corrected permanently.

    Recently, the check engine light was on. The dealership that I was going to couldn't find anything with it no matter what they did. They assumed that it might be the secondary battery. Before that happened, I had to change my main battery. The following year, when I took it to the dealership and I was having an inspection, they were saying that I needed some minor repairs like some spark plugs. Those things, I got covered because it was my catalytic converter. I had to come back at another time because they had to get the parts, but the warranty was excellent.  

    After I got that done, then the other battery might have been acting up. But when I went back to the dealership, they couldn't confirm or say it is, because they were saying it might be, but when they did the diagnostics for it, it was showing that it was negative.

    I went to another dealership, Abeloff. They found it right away. It happened to be the battery. But I had to pay out-of-pocket because they said that they do not accept CarShield as coverage because they've been having problems with them. When I was trying to get reimbursed for it, I spoke with somebody from CarShield. They said, “We don't do batteries.” My experience with CarShield so far, with the exception of the battery, has been good.

    CarShield had to replace the transmission in my car twice and it’s working properly now. But they did not do what they advertised and I ended up paying $629 to C&C Automotive downtown. I’ve worked with C&C before and like their service. CarShield initially told me that C&C was not a recognized dealer, but C&C told me they had worked with CarShield customers before. I stayed with C&C and they completed the repair. One other thing is that I received about 10 different phone calls with conflicting information about what I owed. One person said I owed $1,000, another said that wasn’t correct, and others gave different amounts. It was a constant barrage of calls. Other than these issues, I haven’t had other problems and their online tool is easy to operate.

    CarShield was awful. I had it for about four years and never had a claim. When I put in for a claim, it took close to nine weeks to fix my car. The Cadillac dealer said the issue was the front differential for my transmission. They had the part, then they sent it to CarShield and told them they got a part. It took CarShield forever to call back and tell them that, “We're not gonna use it. That’s too much. We're gonna get our own part.” CarShield decided to pick up the part and send it to the dealer. It took the dealer two days to fix my car, which sat in the Cadillac dealer for close to eight weeks. That service is horrible.

    When I called customer service and talked to them, they acted like they couldn't do anything. They had to wait. They kept giving me all kinds of excuses and they kept procrastinating with the whole situation. The claim shouldn't have taken that long. If it was done in two weeks, or three at the top, I would have given them a better rating, but the waiting took forever and I wasn't satisfied. However, I’m still with CarShield because I still have my truck, and until I get rid of it, I’d stay with them. I don't think I can go to another place and get a warranty with the mileage, so I'm not gonna leave them.

    I thought CarShield was the best one to be with, but I hadn't had anybody but them, so I don't have anybody to compare it with. My technician's been handling my claim, but in terms of coverage, I thought I had the top policy with CarShield, but I don't. My policy was supposed to be 129, and they knocked it down to 109. I thought I was getting the Platinum instead of the Gold. They don't cover a lot of stuff like electronics, then when my motor was messed up, they only covered two valves that were bent. I needed a motor, but they wouldn't pay for the whole motor. So, I had to pay for the rebuilt motor.

    The first contract I had with CarShield was $109 a month, then I called to cancel it because it was getting to be too much. They knocked it down to $69, which was great, but I don't know if I have the same protection that I had before for $109 as I have for $69. That's a question I'd like answered and I've called CarShield twice. I would like to get a copy of what is covered under my contract. It's been about three months, and I've never received it.

    In terms of claims, they've had to change a tire twice for me. About two years ago though, I had a claim and it was denied. It was something about the automatic brake system, ABS, and it cost me $240 to find out it wasn't covered. I took the car to the dealer to have them look at it and that's when they came back and said, “No. You owe us $240.” CarShield won't pay for it.

    CarShield's reputation was good. I've had my auto warranty with them for about five years. The only thing is I had to have some parking sensors put in my front bumper. When I took it to the place that took CarShield, they said, “They're gonna send their own sensors. They're gonna be aftermarket. They're not gonna be original equipment.” I wanted the Lexus sensors put in, so I had to pay outside the program to get the quality sensors that I required. Had I known that CarShield was going to send their own products, and we didn't know what kind they were going to be, I may have thought twice about it. CarShield worked well with me. The only issue I had was that the sensors they were gonna put were the ones for $19 on eBay. The sensors from Lexus were $220 a piece. Other than that, the experience was fine.

    My first time putting in a claim was for my son's Accord and I didn't know how to do it, but CarShield's handled it great. At first, I took the car into the dealership. I had some stuff done for my son's car and it was going in for regular maintenance. CarShield refunded me. I didn't know the engine was covered until I checked the warranty for CarShield. Their guy called me back and he said that next time I can get the dealership to put in the claim for me. He also said since it's my first claim, they're gonna reimburse me and they sent me a check for my son's engine.

    My son slept behind the wheel when he was coming home from work at 3 o'clock in the morning, so he got in an accident and his car was totaled. Everything was covered, but I had to cancel that CarShield account. We're getting ready to get another car though. I'll put his other car back on it for CarShield 'cause now that the Accord is taken off, there's only one account on it, which is great. But I'm waiting till my son gets another car so we can put that new car back onto the account.

    CarShield is one of the ones that is the most advertised though I first became acquainted with them five years ago.     Their warranty was expensive, against better judgment I decided to give them a shot, first experience, took my car in for an AC problem and they found an oil leak during inspection, from day one with the adjuster, they are trying to find a way to get out of honoring the warranty. Ultimately they denied the claim and with no evidence at all said it was an existing condition. I wanted to sue them but it would probably cost more than its worth. Do yourself a favor. Don't waste your money, better off putting it in the bank and when you have an issue pull from that!

Contract cancelled.... 4 days later they are withdrawing monies???     CarShield told me I had bumper-to-bumper coverage but that's not what I got. They said they didn't do a catalytic converter. They said I needed one on my car. So, I had to go out of pocket over $2,000 for that, plus still paying them monthly fees. That was disappointing because with what I had bought from Ford, my car was covered bumper-to-bumper. I asked CarShield, “What is covered? Because I thought that was a part of the engine. And if the catalytic converter wasn't running, so how was I covered?” It was a misunderstanding. If I recommend them to a friend and tell them, “They are great,” that person would be stuck with something like I was.

    CarShield didn’t honor my contract. I paid faithfully for years believing that if my vehicle ever broke down, I would have peace of mind knowing repairs would be covered. That turned out not to be the case. My 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee overheated in extreme Arizona heat. I immediately pulled over and had it towed to a repair facility. At no time was the vehicle driven while overheating. Despite this, CarShield’s administrator, American Auto Shield, denied coverage, claiming ‘neglect.’ They also refused to send an inspector after the vehicle was moved, even though the contract specifically provides for inspection. This left me with no fair evaluation of my claim.

    CarShield also failed to provide a rental vehicle, which the policy clearly states should be provided during repairs. As a result, I have been without my Jeep for more than a month, while continuing to make loan and insurance payments on a car I cannot drive. They offered me only a partial settlement that would not come close to covering the cost of repair, and only if I signed away further rights. In my opinion, this company takes money up front but avoids responsibility when it matters. Consumers deserve to know that CarShield did not honor my contract and left me stranded and paying out of pocket.

    Based on the details received from the repair facility, it was determined that the vehicle was operated while in an overheat condition, which led to further damage. Unfortunately, continued operation under such conditions is specifically excluded from coverage under all of our contracts.

    That said, in an effort to assist, our Claims team approved a credit related to the initial head gasket failure, which was identified as the root cause. However, we are unable to authorize any further coverage for the additional damage resulting from continued operation.

    Right now, it’s not looking good with CarShield, and I’m not really satisfied. I was under the impression from what they said on TV that they were gonna fix whatever I need fixed, but now they say the electrical part is not covered. My driver’s window won’t go down and I need a new motor, plus they said my wheel drums are going bad around the brake point. I don’t even remember them saying anything about that. The biggest problem was the transmission slipping and an oil leak around the oil pan, and I can’t get that fixed either.

    I’m 72 years old and on a fixed income, paying $89 a month. I’ve paid every month, but now I can’t even get my car fixed and I can't get no information. My car has been in the shop going on three weeks now, and when I call CarShield, they don’t know nothing. I need my car to get around, so I asked if I could get my money back, but they said no. I’m out of money either way I go.

    My car was getting a little bit older. I thought I might need to get extended coverage just to cover the cost. I signed up with CarShield, but it was not a very pleasant experience. I'm very dissatisfied.

    It was my first time to do an extended warranty and I was trying to get information first so I could make a decision. CarShield gave me quite a reasonable deal and at the time, I didn't know that it was a good deal. I wanted to shop around and get back to them. When I got back to them, they would not give me the same amount. They wouldn't offer me the same policy.

    I asked them to send me the information so I can go through it before I sign anything. But they were like, "Why would you wanna do that? You either take the deal or you don't." I would like to understand what I'm signing up for. And then another rep said that if I come back, then things may have changed again. So, I signed up only to figure out that I signed up for the wrong thing.

    I called back and said this was not what I wanted. They added $100 on top of it. Up to now, I feel like I was really made a fool. I still want the one that I had requested and not the ones that they sold me at the price that they gave me, because that's what I thought I was getting.

    The way they advertise themselves, I thought they were very up to par. But I wouldn't recommend anyone unless I give them the warnings first of what not to do.

    I didn’t have an extended warranty on the car, so I looked into CarShield and thought it was something I need. The price was reasonable, but maybe six months after I got it, I needed some work done. I went to the Chrysler Jeep place that I usually go to, and they told me that they did not accept CarShield. I was the one stuck looking for a place to take it, but they referred me to another dealer in my area and said that they take CarShield.

    When I called them, they said they accept it. I had to bring my car in so they could assess it and see if CarShield would pay anything to get it fixed. After they looked at the car, they told me what was covered under the CarShield brand and what I’d have to pay for. I agreed and let them fix the car. CarShield paid the amount they were supposed to pay and then I paid the balance.

    I was very satisfied because I got the work done and I have never had another problem with it. Now, I have another dealer that I go to. I don’t even go back to my old dealer anymore because if you need service, you need service now, and it saves me being disgruntled. When I bought another car, I signed up for CarShield automatically. I have CarShield on my latest car, and I’ve told other people to get it.

    The lady from CarShield was pushy when I was signing up with them. I'm poor and vehicles break down no matter how young or old they are.     My car is a 2001 model, and I got a very good deal when I bought it used. I had seen CarShield in ads, and since the car is older and I had no car payments, I thought I should pay monthly. The sign-up process was easy, and their representatives are professional and friendly.
    What I didn’t realize is that CarShield covered some things I would have thought were accessories. I didn’t file a claim for the motor for the electric windows and went ahead and paid for that, thinking it was more like maintenance. But, when I looked at the list of things they sent, I realized it was covered.

    I first heard about CarShield through my brother-in-law some years ago. I've been hearing about them from quite a few other people as well. They said they were good. It was good to get them because I have flat tires and stuff like that. I said, "I need somebody to help me change this tire." I decided to go ahead and reach out to CarShield.     The first time I filed a claim, I was not that familiar with the process and it seemed to a lot to go through. I didn’t know where I was taking my car and I didn’t know what the process was.     I called CarShield when my car failed the emissions test to find out if the part they were referencing would be covered under my policy. They confirmed that it would be covered. I also asked if Bob Bell was a service dealer that they recognize as a licensed dealer, to which they said, absolutely. So I brought my car to Bob Bell. The rep said that I should have Bob Bell call CarShield before they do any work. Bob Bell looked at the problem and had to keep the car for the diagnostic tests, which took almost a day to run to identify not only what the problem was, but exactly where it was located. They called me and told me that the problem is the rotary arm, and they could fix it because they had the part, but they'd have to have it for another day.

    Bob Bell said they already called CarShield andCarShield said that, I know, that the service is covered under my plan. I said, okay, thank you. So they called me back to confirm if I wanted them to go ahead and proceed with the repairs. And they said they had not yet heard from CarShield, but they knew from the previous conversation that there should be no problem. So I said, yes, please, because I need my car. They said, no problem. I mentioned about renting a car for the meantime but they said that I shouldn't have to because they're gonna try to have it done by that afternoon.

    So I asked CarShield if they would cover the rental car, and I was told no because they weren't gonna have my car that long. That's not the understanding I had of the policy, but okay. That was the last conversation I had with CarShield. When I called to find out if my car was ready, Bob Bell said yes and they told me that CarShield reminded them that I had a $250 deductible, which would be my part. I said, okay. The Bob Bell rep said, they're taking that off of the part of the bill that's covered under emissions. The maintenance part of it would not be covered. I understood that, so I'll pay the difference. When I got the bill home, I realized that CarShield hadn't paid anything. CarShield called me to say that they haven't heard back from Bob Bell. I was surprised and the lady was very nasty with her response that they didn't get a callback.

    I explained that according to what Bob Bell told me, once CarShield gave them the go-ahead to fix my car and that everything was set because they fixed it, CarShield told them that I had a $250 deductible. They confirmed with me that I was able to pay that. I paid the difference on the maintenance fees that Bob Bell had to do. The rep said that none of it was covered because Bob Bell wasn't supposed to do anything until CarShield got back to them with authorization. Well, that's not what the other CarShield rep told me at the beginning. The rep continued to tell me that I can't get any of my money back. The lady was very rude. She could have at least given me an explanation or used a tone with me that was friendlier than what I was getting. Her tone was more of I was annoying her for having to question a few things.

    The next day they sent me a survey. I did a terrible survey on them because I told them all of this and that I really wanted somebody to contact me and advise me why I should keep paying this policy. The next day after that, I got a phone call informing me that I could file an appeal and they would send me the appeal information. So I went online and filed that. It’s supposed to take 7 to 10 business days, but I have not heard anything back at all. It’s been two weeks. I laid out $1,100, and it's not a whole lot of money, but I still would have liked to have the difference of what I had to pay on that one part.

    I bought the policy of CarShield because I have a car that's now five years old. We only had 30,000 miles on it. But I thought, if I need a big repair, I'd have a problem. I didn't want to take any chances.

    I remember the person I talked to was really nice. They did all they can to get me a good rate. If they didn't, they made me feel like they did. Yeah, I was very happy with that.

    Well, It’s fine, it works. I read the policy just the other day. I went over it a little bit and I know I have that $200 deductible. And I don't think I'm gonna have a problem ever, hopefully. I only drive 300 miles a month. I'm old. I don't go out at night. And so, I'm not even that concerned.

    My car's almost six years old and all my guarantees have dropped off. I don't know if the big things have dropped off because I only have 30,000 miles on it. But I just assumed that they dropped off and I didn't want to be stuck with a big bill or something. If it breaks down, I wouldn't be able to pay a big bill.

    If I have a flat tire, I can call. I didn't really get into it that much. Because like I said, I really hardly ever have trouble with a car. I don't go far from home, and I don't drive far anymore. Years ago, I did. I'm 83 years old. I'm on death row.

    I've had four claims in 10 years with CarShield. Usually, I take the car to a shop. They do the inspection and see what has to be done. They contact CarShield for the approval. Once approved, we get the job done. My last experience was not the best, though. My car was overheating, and it resulted in having to change the radiator fan. CarShield will only approve the amount if they ordered the part themselves as opposed to my mechanic ordering the part locally. If the mechanic was to do that, then my out-of-pocket expense was very high.

    So I went along with the program and said, "Okay. You can order the part. Send it to the mechanic shop." They send the wrong part, so I was held up for a day. They sent another part again. After three days without the vehicle, they finally decide to let the mechanic order the part and let my deductible remain the same. That was three days without the vehicle and it was an inconvenience.

    Prior to that, they were good, but as far as a car rental, what they're paying, you can't get a rental for that in Brooklyn.

    When I just got CarShield, my transmission went down. I called them, and they told me to take it to a dealer who’ll look at it and diagnose it, which I did. I called them back and told them which dealer I was taking it to. I took it there and got it fixed in one day. I don’t have any complaints. I only pay $89 a month. Other companies are telling me get off it and go with them because CarShield won’t pay for a lot of things. I haven’t had that problem. I’ve been satisfied with them.     I have a Range Rover and the transfer case went out. When I bought the contract, CarShield said everything was covered. I took the car to a garage and the total was going to be $7,800. When we turned the bill in, CarShield said they would pay for the labor but the tranfer case was not covered. I said, "Well, I see in the front here it's all listed.”

    The guy said I better read my contract because further back in the contract, the transfer case isn't listed as being covered. Sure enough, it lists transfer case on the front page but deeper in the contract, transfer case wasn't listed. Out of the $7,800 they will pay $2,400 which is the labor. It's a mess and I would never deal with them again.

    I didn't dig deep enough to see what their ratings were on service. Later then, after I ran into this problem, I started scoping it out on Google, and they are seemingly noted for finding loopholes to not have to pay things.Talking with them is great until you get down to the nitty gritty of what they're gonna pay. That's where the problem comes in. They sound good, but the production end of it is not much. The last person I talked to got nasty too.

    I kept CarShield for a whole year and paid $90 a month, but it never paid anything on repairs on my car. My car kept overheating and I had everything fixed every time it would overheat. Eventually, it damaged the motor and CarShield was only gonna pay a certain amount toward a motor. They won't replace the motor because they said the car kept overheating. That wasn't my fault.

    Different things kept making it overheat. The water hose broke and that made the car overheat. Another time, the hose popped off of the reservoir and the car overheated. I had no control over that and I took care of everything every time it would overheat. I had cooling fans, hoses, and reservoirs done, but nothing was ever covered. I paid for all of that out of my own pocket.

    A lot of places won't even accept CarShield because they have a hard time getting the claims. I can see why now that they just don't want to deal with them. I asked where I was taking the car if they would honor CarShield and they said they did. So I thought I would go ahead and take out the warranty. But nothing was ever covered. The only time I ever used it was for the towing to get my poor car to the shop. $90 a month for a year is a lot of money I put out just to be covered for towing. That was expensive. You would expect when you get a policy that you're gonna have some coverage on things.

    When all of that started going wrong and my car needed a radiator, I didn't have a policy at the time. I paid $909 outright for a radiator, so I thought I'd better get CarShield. I thought most of what would have to be done in my car would be covered. But when I started looking, nothing, nothing, nothing. I never turned in claims because when I looked under the policy, whatever I was having done was never covered. They cover hardly anything that I ever had done on the car, except when it finally came to the motor.

    They were nice and I could see their side of it. I was even gonna cancel one time and they lowered the deductible for me. I appreciated that. But I feel like I should get more out of the policy than what they're doing. I went ahead and dropped the policy and with my experience, I wouldn't do it again. I would have to have some policy that would cover more out of fixing up a car.

    My warranty ran out on my car. It's a newer car, a 2016, with the electronic stuff. I have a touch screen and a lot of it is electronic stuff and computer-generated on the cars now. I know it's expensive when it needs to be repaired. That's the main reason I was interested in the program. I also want to help reverse some of the cost of my repairs.

    The process was easy. But there is a stipulation, so you wanna make sure you look over all the stuff and make sure you get the level that you need. Don't let them oversell you. They didn't really try to do that because I told them exactly what I wanted. The rep told me three programs and he suggested the middle tier one because it covered everything that I needed. He went over the whole program with me—what it would cover and how much it would cost. Then he explained there's a 30-day waiting period before they will cover repairs. The rep explained everything really well and then I signed up. It gives me peace of mind to know if my computer stuff decides to go that it would be fixed.

    I had a claim where I had to pay part of it because the car is a Volkswagen. Of course, a Volkswagen has to have a Volkswagen part. I should have thought about that before I bought the car. I had my ignition key repaired because it kept on sticking. The total bill was $900 and I ended up having to pay $220. But CarShield covered the majority of that. The dealership charges more for labor, which I totally get. Every place charges different. The part had to come from Germany because it's a Volkswagen.

    CarShield called me about three years ago and asked me to join them. The salesman told me about the plan and how much it would cost. I figured my car was old, so I was willing to pay the $100. He convinced me to get it since I didn’t have extended warranty. Now I have an issue with them and I’m not happy at all.

    I got a Toyota RAV 4 2013, which I took to Toyota to check my oil. They told me to come back after I drove it for 1,000 miles. I did that, and they checked it, and it had no oil. We called CarShield to make a claim, and they sent someone to take pictures and check it. They sent the motor to Toyota, but they didn’t get anyone to sign for it. Now, the motor had been sitting there for the whole weekend, and anybody could have taken it without anyone knowing.

    In the meantime, I didn’t have a car, so I had to rent one. They only give you 14 days from the time that your car is in the shop until you get it back. I was thinking 14 days is long enough for them to get the motor. I even waited three days to get a rental car. I called CarShield and asked them how much I could get for it, and they said up to $100 a day. I got a rental car from Enterprise for $50 a day and kept it for extra seven days. I know they're not gonna pay that much, so I paid that portion. That was $323.

    It turned out CarShield didn’t even allow the $100 a day. They allowed me $37 a day. I thought I’ll get my $50 back per day for my 14 days and get my lump sum back to pay off my card that I used. No, no, no. The young man told me that I got a car that costs more than what they allow. I argued with him and said that if it says $100 in my plan, it should have been $100. I went over the 14 days, but I knew I was responsible for that so I paid my portion.

    There's a lot of misinformation that they give to people, and they shouldn’t do that. I dropped the car off on June 21, this was during a holiday weekend, and didn’t get it back until July 21. I wasn't happy about that. Somebody even called me and tried to get me to change companies. She said CarShield was under some kind of investigation and they got lawsuits. I just said that I would just deal with them because they did do the motor. I just wasn't happy with any of it.

    I first decided to get Car Shield because of their ads and guarantee to be their car if things stared to break down as cars can do after 10 yrs and I really like my truck and do most if not all the maintenance. After I enrolled in it, the next year I had an oil failure so I called and then put my truck in the shop, they said that that pump was not covered, even after talking they said that pump was not. The next year I had an electrical problem in the dash. I called and they don't cover dashboard electronic issues. I was hot. So I stopped paying and quit their plan. A few years later I was called and then sales person said that the new plan would cover everything that the old plan did not. I said no and they kept lowering the price. And gave me a good price for my second car with low miles. I was stupid and said yes. $99 for the truck and 119 for the 2016 Honda. Then 18 months later I had a problem with the 4 wheel dr.

    I called and put and the agent was very rude to the shop I put it in then he denied the claim and said that as that it was not covered. I called and the agent / manager said that he saw where in the contract that the module was covered but he had to get it approved and 4 days later an agent called me and said that I had not driven my truck past the the supposedly begin contract mandatory miles. So it was not covered. So I told him that I want to close my account. And I had the auto pay dropped also.

    Having rental assistance as soon as calling in the claim was one of the reasons why I purchased a CarShield policy. When I had to put my car in the shop in 2020, CarShield provided me with rental assistance right then and there. Now, the policy has changed, and they require you to rent the car which is inconvenient. I submitted a claim two weeks ago after dropping my car off to have the transmission replaced because it was slipping. They told me that I have to rent the car myself and submit a reimbursement which is a whole another process.

    They went back and forth asking for paperwork to provide proof of knowledge of my car which prolonged the repair process. They are also sending me a transmission from the yard with 30,000 miles on it. But the junkyard is waiting for the part. I am now $800 down for the two-week rental, and I don’t have money anymore for another week. When they complete the claim, my plan is to drop it because it no longer benefits me. It’s a headache. I was so frustrated and my blood pressure was up.

    In April, my car had been sitting. The lights on the dashboard came on for some reason. I took the car to Basil Ford to get it fixed and they gave me an estimate of how much it was gonna cost. CarShield wasn't paying for any of it. Also, the place where I was at scraped off my inspection sticker and I couldn't get an inspection. From April to July, my car was sitting because I couldn't drive it without the inspection sticker. I called CarShield and tried to see where I could go that they would pay like they were supposed to. They gave me a place called JB so I went there.

    I gave them my CarShield details and they told me the same thing that Basil Ford said, “CarShield ain't gonna pay for nothing.” I happened to have a little bit of money, so I got the work done and I got my car back for $800. That was a bad experience. I am no longer with CarShield. They were saying that they didn’t cover certain stuff. When I got the book on stuff that I needed covered, the book said it was covered. The warranty seemed to be a con artist thing to me.

    One time, CarShield did what they were supposed to do. I was trusting them and I stayed with them. The next time, they didn't do what they were supposed to do as mentioned in the commercials. It all started looking like fraud. I had to pay money two times when I shouldn't have had to pay.

    I made a claim with CarShield when my transmission went out. They approved it and it's going good. But they also found an oil leak and I'm trying to get CarShield to get this approved so I can get my car back.

    It will soon be 14 days since I've had this issue because they give me a rental for 14 days. They're going to have to extend the rental because what's taking so long is CarShield sent their own transmission instead of letting the Dodge place get theirs because they could get it cheaper.

    The claim process went pretty good. I haven't really had a problem with them. It's just a lot of negotiation with the Jeep and Dodge place versus how many hours they say it takes to do something versus what they go by the book. I haven't really had a problem.

    I needed my car protected, so I saved up the money to get CarShield. I got CarShield and I called them. They sent the tow truck. And the tow truck guy took a picture of the speedometer and mileage is. He had trouble starting it. But once he had it started, he took a picture, but he didn't send it to me.

    He left the car running while he took the car to the other spot. When he dropped it off, he handed the keys over to Keystone Ford and they drove 80 miles, more or less joy riding my car. I had to pay 200 bucks because CarShield didn't pay it. They drove my car and they charged me 200 bucks for it.

    It was terrible. They handed the car back with an empty tank of gas. My oil, transmission fluid, steering fluid, and brake fluid were really low.

    I called to CarShield to cancel, and they actually offered me a lower monthly rate, which I thought was pretty cool. They were kind and thorough with their information and I found that very helpful. And I ended up purchasing another vehicle and they told me at least to try it out, get a service done to it and see if I like it before I just do away with the warranty, and they assured me that I wouldn’t be denied anything, so I’m comfortable if that remains to be true.     Car shield is the worst liars thieves ever. Car shield sold me a contract. I paid $110.99 each month for 21 months. When my engine light came on I took my car for repairs. Car shield denied my claims & cancelled my contract and refuse to give me back my money. I’m retired senior citizen on a fix income. I need $3300 to repair my car. I was also responsible for my diagnosis fee. Car shield said that they denied my claims because I had a branded/salvage title and I had gave them incorrect information but that’s not true. At the time taking out my contract I didn’t know what a branded /salvage title meant. I was unaware I had a branded title. Car shield had my car vin number. No way they didn’t know I had a branded title.

    Car shield should have done the right thing. Explain it to me & sold me correct contract from the beginning but what car shield did was take my social security money. $110.99 each month for 21 months. Refuse to pay for my car repairs and car diagnosis and refuse to refund me my money back. Car shield is a thief company and hell yes I’m taking care of shield to small claims court for a refund car shield do the right thing. Stop ripping people off. Be honest and choose to do what is right.

    I recently filed a claim and it was awful. I went with Carshield because they had a big name, and normally big companies do right by you. But this time, it wasn’t what I expected. It’s one of those “live and learn” situations.

    The customer service that I received from the young man was definitely not that great, but all the other people that I talked to, all of the other ones, the young lady and another young man too, were all polite.

    When I first signed on, I talked to a young man. I forgot his name but I’m sure he wasn’t involved with the processing. I talked to him and shared my concerns. One of the concerns was how you handled the rental thing. I explained that with my old policy before I got my new Optima, they used to handle reimbursements when you rent a car.

    The last time I dealt with the previous company, they didn’t give me my reimbursement check. I told him that was a horrible experience. With that insurer, it’s like going back and forth endlessly and arguing for nothing, because they’re hours away and there’s no one you can talk to directly. I let it go, it was only a few hundred bucks, so it is what it is.

    So, when I talked to the guy from CarShield, I told him about my experience with the last company. He said, “No, we don’t do reimbursement checks, we handle it for you.” Perfect, that works out well.

    Fast forward to June, I had an incident and talked to a young lady. She said, “Yeah, we do reimburse you.” I told her, I thought CarShield doesn’t do reimbursement checks for rentals. It's supposed to be handled directly, especially for a seven-day rental with my package, Platinum or Gold, I’m not sure. She said they only do reimbursement checks. That was one of the issues I had.

    The other issue was my motor went out, and getting in touch with someone was kind of hard, which I understand, I’m not the only person dealing with CarShield. But when I finally got a hold of someone, the guy snapped at me. They were trying to get a receipt to figure out why my motor went out. I explained I didn’t know why and that I hadn’t added any oil myself. They mentioned I had been to Valvoline to get my oil checked or serviced.

    I went to get my oil done, and he said, “Looks like you went to Valvoline, what was that for?” I said, “Oh, that was just an oil change.” He asked if that was it, and I said yes. Then he got a bit frustrated with me because I kept asking about the same thing. He raised his voice slightly not yelling, but more like, “Did you hear me?” and okay, we don’t need to go any further.

    With the motor, I was a little confused. I knew I had to pay a deductible and find a mechanic, which I did. The mechanics gave them a price, but I didn’t understand why they couldn’t cover the rest beyond my $1,000 deductible. I thought it would work like this. If the repair is $7,000, I pay $1,000, they cover $6,000. That wasn’t the case.

    They made it seem like they wouldn’t cover that much. They offered me about $4,000, and I said, okay, if you can find a motor for that price, I’ll go with it. But the motor they gave me had 104,000 miles, while my old motor had 160,000 miles. I realized I’d likely run into the same issue again in a year or so. That was another point of frustration for me.

    They gave me a used motor with 104,000 miles, saying that’s all they could provide under my plan. It is what it is. I took the 104,000 miles because I had to keep going to two jobs to get to, my wife’s job, and taking my mom to work, so I needed the car running.

    Then, when it came to getting the motor, I spoke to a young lady and explained I didn’t have a lot of extra money. I asked if it made sense to wait a week for my car rental, since I knew it would take time to get the motor, and I didn’t want to pay for the rental too early.

    I don’t think the price is bad. It depends on the issue you have. They could probably lower it a bit to make it more affordable, but I pay $159 a month, which works for me. If they brought it down to around $99, I think that would be a lot better for most people.

    I find it very hard to understand why a company would require a contract with an initial payment before allowing a potential customer to read the contract. I did sign up after talking at length to a very polite gentleman who I came to trust. Once the payment was accepted and we completed our call, only then did I have access to the actual contract. It didn't take much reading to realize everything in this "agreement" (contract) gave this company every reason they would ever need to deny any claim. ("Worn parts excluded") I then called them back and cancelled the contract. But even with that, after the nice gentleman assured me any refund would be "instantly" returned, that was (is) not the case. The "agent"(s) I had to speak with was anything but cordial. She spoke with a rather angry voice and so fast I could barely understand a word she said. I'm waiting for my refund.

    I've got two accounts with CarShield and I've made claims. I had some service work done on one of my trucks. But they didn't pay what they've advertised they're gonna pay and they made me turn in a bunch of more paperwork, which they should have had from day one when I signed up, such as the bill of sale of the vehicle. I was not told about that when I first took the policy out, and I didn't have to do that on the first vehicle that I insured with them.

    It took about two weeks. So my vehicle was tied up for three weeks in the service shop. They wouldn't cover all of the hourly labor. The labor rate was $189 an hour, and they were only gonna pay $150, which I was never told from the beginning and there's nothing in my documents that say that. Then they argued with the service people, who are the only ones left in this area, Tucson, Arizona, that will even deal with them. Nobody else does. All the service shops that they did have in this area had quit. So right now, I'm considering moving to a different company. CarShield is not the insurer either. It's American Auto something. CarShield is just a broker. They're a middleman, which I just found out.

    I know about CarShield, and my father-in-law uses it. So, that’s how I came up with the plan to use them also. And I also heard that the experience with them is good, and they are always on point in case of an accident, or damage, or something done to your vehicle. And they’re always there immediately if you need roadside assistance.

    So, I signed up with them over the phone. I also received the hard copy of my warranty, and I did read over the coverage. The only problem is that I set up the account on my phone, but I can’t see the coverage on my phone. So, I did talk to a customer representative, and she told me that I’ll have to view it on my laptop or my computer.

    And I had the full coverage that covers my engine. It’s a little bit expensive, but I do understand. And I try to work with it somehow because of the quality of the program that they have. So, I stick with it, but it’s a little bit on the high note. And I did the autopay, where it comes out every month.

    I feel confident having it in case something happens. And even when I was talking to the guy, he was super cool, and I told him I just needed it just in case because stuff does happen. But because I got a mechanical background, I take care of my vehicle. I know how to treat it and how to take care of it. So, I told him that it’s best to have it and don’t need it than to need it and don’t have it. So, that was my reason to have it. 

    I’ve never had to call them out to do anything on my car yet. But so far, the service has been good whenever I reached out to them or when they reached out to me. And the representative was awesome. He did everything he could to give me the lowest rate possible, and even tried to give me other discounts on other stuff.

    I am dealing with my first claim with Carshield and not happy how they work things, I have a 2018 Tahoe that I have to get my ac condenser changed and my touchscreen, I brought it to the dealership and they said it would be $2300 for everything. So I was thinking I just had to pay my $200 deductible but carshield wants me to pay $800 that’s with my deductible included because the adjuster says the dealership could get the parts cheaper and they are charging too much for labor, they told the dealership they could get the parts cheaper at O’reilly which the dealership told me they told carshield they can not get the parts from o’reilly. They have their place to get the parts and they would not be able to warranty parts from O’reilly. So apparently I guess anything we would need worked on they would go back and check to see if could get it cheaper somewhere else.

    I’m sure knowing the dealership will use their parts and not go shop around other places, it seems like they will find a way not to have to pay what they should pay, I would not recommend getting carshield if we have to pay out of pocket like this, I should just be paying my deductible, they should let the customers know that they won’t pay what they are supposed to, looks like they will try getting out of paying what they should any kind of way, I really thought they would be a reputable place and pay our repairs but apparently not so like I said before I would not recommend anyone get carshield

    Following the TV ad, I filled out something online, and somebody called me back within minutes. The salesperson was informative and gave me the information I needed based on my current needs, and I went with the offer. I rejected the offer a couple of times, but he never gave up. He explained the benefits and how it could benefit me in the long run. And I thought about it, and I sort of gave in because he was convincing enough. So, it was good.

    The cost is reasonable, but I’m not 100% happy with the coverage. And it’s necessarily no one’s fault. It’s just that the car I have, with the year and the mileage on it, it didn’t qualify for the next tier. It’s just their different categories of offers. I just qualified for the Silver category. So, that’s the only disappointing thing. I think CarShield could look at that further and develop something better for people who have an older model and more miles, and still give better coverage. But, hopefully, if I need to use it, it’ll prove that it was worth getting it.

    Signing up with CarShield was easy. They took good care of me. The price is reasonable and was one of the cheapest compared to other places. They had the book and the cards mailed out. I was reading through the policy last week and I was trying to figure out what’s covered and not. Brakes, tires and struts aren’t covered. But transmission, air conditioner, compressor and starter are.

    However, I was only approved for six months. So here I am wondering now what’s gonna happen in six months. I asked them about that and they said that they’d redo it. I didn’t like that.     CarShield has dealt with Land Rover before. When I bring my vehicle there, they know exactly who to contact. CarShield will call me and let me know that the claim has been approved and what I have to pay, but I don't have to do much. When something was wrong with my suspension and some valves needed to be changed the last time, the service department at Land Rover told me, and I just had them call CarShield. They do keep me updated if there's more claims to be done. They also give me a receipt with everything on it. I don’t need a rental either because Land Rover provides a loaner car free of charge. As my car has gotten older, I'm still paying the same price, but I'm not complaining because they do take care of my car and I never have any issues,

    Carshield is not a protection plan, it's not a peace of mind, it's a Nightmare!! CarShield is absolutely the worst company I’ve ever had the misfortune of dealing with. I paid for months thinking I had peace of mind with their “comprehensive” vehicle protection plan. When my 2020 Ford F-150 had a covered issue, I submitted a claim — and they flat-out told the mechanic that " He don't care" and with no clear explanation kept prolonging the process. I was left on my own to cover thousands in repairs. to speak to a supervisor you have to be on a waiting list until they call you. 72 hrs latter.

    To make things worse, I had to pay for a rental car out of pocket for over 4 weeks because they refused to reimburse me — even though rental coverage was supposed to be included in my plan but after they lost the Law suit for 10 Million of Dollars, they change the policy, including mine without my concern nor notice

    Customer service was useless and unresponsive. I waited more than a month for a resolution, and all I got was a rejection and excuses.

    They dodge responsibility and stall until you give up. It’s nothing but a money grab. This company uses misleading ads to lure people in, and then abandons them when it matters most. Do NOT trust them. You’re better off burning your money than giving it to CarShield. I’m filing complaints with the FTC, the Texas Attorney General, and the BBB — and I encourage others to do the same. CarShield needs to be held accountable.

    I've been with CarShield for over 5 years and have never filed a claim. I've now needed to file a claim for my transmission. They provided a salvaged transmission for repairs on my vehicle while I protested along with the service center. The service center offered a new transmission, but CarShield declined. They stated I would have to pay the difference even though my contract says they could use a new transmission. My truck has been in the shop for over a month, and I've only been offered 7 days of rental.

    After the service center and I told CarShield on numerous 3-way calls that the salvaged unit proposed for my vehicle raises serious concerns regarding reliability, safety, and long-term value. They stood strong and would not budge, they went ahead and sent one, the service center received the transmission, and it was for the wrong make and model. Still no extension on rental. Finally get the salvaged transmission in for my make and model and now the transmission doesn't work. Still no rental extension and still no new transmission.

    My journey with CarShield began on a less than ideal note. When I initially contacted them, I emphasized a strict budget, hoping to keep costs below $150. However, I found myself signing up for a policy that cost significantly more—$176, which took me by surprise. This change was rushed upon me without enough clarification on extra charges like taxes, which I deemed essential especially given how tight finances already are, being a single father.

    The sales process didn't feel transparent. Although the representative stayed on the phone with me for an extended period to complete the sale—definitely an act of dedication—the payment agreed upon at that time far exceeded my communicated budget, without adequate explanation. 

    Moreover, the actual coverage didn't live up to expectations. Despite the increased cost, there was a noticeable lack of essential components in my package. Initially enticed by the notion of safeguarding main parts like the radiator or the engine. I wouldn't have a problem with this price with radiator in there. But they don't even have that in there, especially when it's supposed to be over 150 and it wasn't.

    While the aspect they’ve nailed is the fixed pricing, providing no fears about sudden surges, the initial prices could've included honest detailing on tax, and premium differences ought to align better, considering my package's specifics.

    In summary, navigating CarShield's unsigned route presented challenges, I hope they consider detailed upfront information exchanges in future interactions.

So far, my experience with CarShield has been positive. I've used their services twice, both times through my Subaru dealership. The issues I faced were quite pressing: electronic problems with my windows and an air conditioner fan malfunction, which gets crucial during our hot summers. Each time I visited the dealership, I only had to cover the deductible. The electronic issue alone would have cost me $1,200 out of pocket if not for the warranty.

    The first incident involved a complete failure of the driver’s control for all windows, especially the passenger side ones.     When friends compared Endurance and CarShield, both of which they dealt with, they recommended the latter. I had one friend that had both of them for enough time to be able to have some work done on each plan. I was told that the CarShield plan covers more items. I'm not positive about cheaper ‘cause I think Endurance was cheaper, but may offer less. A friend who had plans with both CarShield and another company believed that CarShield covered more items, even if it wasn't necessarily the cheapest option. After considering his feedback, I was convinced to give CarShield a try, aiming for bumper-to-bumper coverage initially but settling for powertrain coverage due to budget constraints. My vehicle is a 2019 Infiniti with 85,000 miles, so comprehensive coverage is important to me.

    The representative I interacted with was incredibly thorough and patient, guiding me through my choices considering my budget. He even put me on a friends and family plan to help bring it down just a notch. I started with a powertrain plan but was assured that upgrading in the future is possible as long as no claims have been made.     To our disappointment, CarShield primarily covered towing costs. When it came to essential repairs, such as a new engine and dealing with wiring issues, we faced significant out-of-pocket expenses which totaled over $5,000. Despite expressing concerns about the inadequacy of coverage, especially for a vehicle that had never been in an accident, CarShield didn’t provide the needed support. The requirement to submit receipts for expenses we entirely funded felt unnecessary and added to our frustration. I would rather go with Endurance. They say Endurance is way better.
