On the shop end of things CarShield is one of worse ones to work with. We have to jump through a lot of hoops (I deal with a a lot of warranty companies) and they will not pay fair parts prices.. They either make the shop sell the part cheaper then what they paid for or the customer has to pay the difference on top of their deductible. They do opt to send their own part but in all case so the parts have been very poor quality.
Jacob, we appreciate you sharing your perspective. We understand there can be differences in how processes are handled across coverage providers. Coverage is based on the terms of the contract, which outline how parts are priced or sourced. The parts used are of like kind and quality, and are either covered under the agreement or supported through the coverage provided. We also want to note that our administrator pays out over $10 million in claims each month. We are always working on improving the process, as we do value our repair facilities. If there are specific concerns or situations you’d like to discuss further, we’re always open to reviewing them.

I have nothing but good things to say about CarShield. I worked with Dylan. Initially, he told me it was gonna cost me $129, and I said, “My friend who referred me said $99.” He said, "I can give you my deal or some type of discount under his name.” My car is a 2019, but I've always maintained it because I'm a single woman and I’m also a senior citizen. I would always maintain it with the proper maintenance - oil changes and everything according to the mileage. Number one, I don't want to be stranded out in nowhere. We, as senior citizens, often become victims. So all of the things that CarShield offers are in regard to assistance or preparation or to repair, which gives me the feeling that I'm comfortable, it'll be taken care of. I’m down in income, so CarShield is what I need. I'm very pleased with CarShield.
Patricia, we’re so glad you took the time to leave this review! It’s wonderful to hear you had a positive experience and were able to find a plan that fits your needs and budget. Having that added peace of mind, especially knowing you’re covered if something unexpected happens, can make such a difference. I had CarShield a while before. I went back to it. The rep was very nice, and told me about the deals, what CarShield could do, and what package deal to get. They did good. Something about my car wouldn't turn on. I brought my car to BMW but they couldn't fix what was going on. CarShield didn't cover my amount for the BMW to figure out what was wrong with it. I had to pay out of pocket. I’m a little confused with that. But it's okay. It would have worked out either way, because I would have had to pay the same amount of money anyway for CarShield. I got the big package deal. It should cover a lot of things. If it doesn't cover, maybe there is a way I will leave CarShield. But they were nice and pleasant.
.Nicole, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're glad to hear that the representative was helpful and made your setup process smooth.
Upon reviewing your case, we noted your concern regarding your vehicle not being covered because the parts involved were not listed for coverage. Additionally, diagnostics are not covered when the repair itself has not been approved.
We understand that this can be confusing, and our Customer Service team is available to help clarify your coverage. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to give us a call.

Because I have CarShield now when I drive, am I not worried about breaking down. I signed up over my cell phone while I was sitting in a car. It was all done over a telephone conversation. It was satisfactory, and it wasn't a burdensome process to get through. I have an understanding of what CarShield covers and what they don't. To pay off the contract upfront would be $9,000 over three years. They did not give me any options other than just a monthly payment thing.
Donald, thank you for taking the time to share your experience with CarShield! The ONLY thing that disappointed me was that my Old Timing Chain was not reusable so therefore Carshield should have reimbursed me the $1,100.00 that I paid out of my own pocket!!!! I am on Social Security Disability. This was a lot of money for me to put out when this part is eligible for reimbursement!!! I called & spoke to many claim specialists prior to the finalized claim & they agreed with me. Unusable & No Good is the same as Failed!!!
Kathleen, we appreciate you taking the time to share this, and we understand how difficult this situation has been, especially given the out-of-pocket expense.
While we recognize your concerns, the repair facility recommended replacing the timing chain; however, there was no verified failure noted at the time of inspection. Because of that, the repair did not meet the criteria for authorization under the contract. If a confirmed failure had been present, it would have been eligible for coverage.
We understand this was not the outcome you were expecting, and we’d be glad to go over the claim with you in more detail so you can feel more confident and informed about your coverage. Please contact our Customer Service team at 1-800-587-4162 for a full review.

I think Car Shield is dumb! I am tired of hearing about it on TV. Just because celebrities are getting paid to say it is good doesn't mean it is. If I need an engine or transmission I would just scrap the car. Anything else I would just put on my credit card and give them the money instead. This to me is more peace of mind than the hassle of Car Shield. By the way, how much did Car Shield gross last year?

Carshield is a scam, a lie, total BS. They sucks from A to Z, W X Y Z all the way to the end! Don't get scammed! I had an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience with CarShield regarding the extended warranty I purchased for my 2017 Ford F-150. What seemed like peace of mind turned into a complete nightmare when I actually needed them to step up. I filed a claim to replace the turbocharger, a major and expensive repair that is exactly the kind of issue you expect an extended warranty to cover. Instead of honoring the claim, they denied it based on what feels like a technical loophole. They argued that a component connected to the turbo—the intercooler—was not covered because it is considered a separate part.
Here’s the problem: this “separate” part is physically attached to the turbocharger. It’s not something you can simply remove or replace independently. In my case, it’s essentially integrated—welded or fixed in a way that makes it inseparable from the turbo itself. Any qualified mechanic will tell you that replacing the turbo means dealing with that component as part of the same repair. Despite this, they used that distinction to deny the entire claim. It feels like a deliberate attempt to avoid paying for a legitimate repair by hiding behind technical wording. This isn’t what customers expect when they invest in an extended warranty.
To make matters worse, after denying my claim, they actually called me trying to sell me a home protection insurance plan. The audacity was unbelievable. When I brought up my denied claim, they tried to reassure me that “this time it would be different” and that the home protection plan would cover me if anything happened. After what I just went through, that kind of pitch felt completely out of touch and honestly insulting.
After reviewing the claim, it shows the specific part that led to the failure is not listed under the components covered within the turbocharger section of the contract. The contract does break down the exact parts included for coverage, along with any exclusions that apply, and in this case, the part in question falls within that exclusionary section.
We understand how this can feel frustrating, especially when the components are closely connected, and your perspective is completely valid. If you’re open to it, we would really like the chance to walk through the contract with you in detail and explain how it applies to your claim. Please contact our Customer Service team at 1-800-587-4162 so we can go over everything together.

American AutoShield (CarShield) absolutely the WORST company I’ve done business with! I bought what the CarShield representative said was “The best coverage” for my 2014 Ram 1500 back in 2021, $120 mo. So I trusted her and Rapper/Actor Ice-T on the commercials! First year, my key fob ignition went out. Carshield contract shows it covered ignition switch, BUT since it’s called a FOB ignition, they didn’t cover it! Cost me $440 to repair!
2024, the Steering Module went out. Carshield said they would’ve fixed it, but I didn’t have the next-level coverage contract that would’ve covered it! To add, the coverage I needed didn’t exist at the start of my contract and was NEVER offered to me during the life of my contract! The $120 a month I paid was basically for towing! The part alone will cost me $2k! They play name games with parts, and I believe they don’t offer new coverage to existing customers to avoid paying to fix additional non-covered parts!
Why would they offer anything more to existing customers when they’re getting paid for NOTHING, faithfully every month? To be CLEAR, you’re NOT paying Carshield for repairs, you’re paying for false hope! Don’t allow yourself to be PIMPED out your hard-earned money! They will harass you if you’re 1 DAY LATE!!! Carshield is FIRED!! My truck is still parked, uncovered, because I no longer trust ANY warranty companies, but after 1 week after cancelling my Carshield contract, I’m now blessed with a brand new 2025 Hyundai Sonata. Last to add, The Dealership at Hyundai told me to NEVER EVER purchase TV car warranties, they’re ALL designed to ONLY PROFIT!!! So keep my Carshield experience in mind the next time celebrities appear on your television or phone and STRAIGHT FACE LIE to you for CARSHIELD!!!!
Jamaald, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We understand how frustrating this situation has been and appreciate you bringing your concerns forward.
A review of your contract shows your vehicle was placed under the highest level of coverage it qualified for at the time. There was one additional option available; however, it did not include powertrain coverage and would have required a separate monthly cost in addition to your existing policy. Plan options are typically based on the customer’s needs at the time of enrollment.
We understand this did not meet your expectations, and your feedback is important to us. If you would like to discuss your coverage or any specific claim details further, our Customer Service team would be happy to assist.

Johnny, we understand how disappointing this must have been, especially with it being your first claim. CarShield was very popular and we had seen a lot of commercials for it, which made us decide it was something we should look at. We’ve had extended warranties before on other vehicles, and the car we got CarShield on no longer had a warranty and was just reaching the mileage, so we wanted the protection. We started comparing different providers, but we didn’t even go through the full process because CarShield was the first one we looked at and the terms were favorable, so we didn't feel the need to look any further than them. The rep explained the terms and cost, and the signup process was easy. The information was good and thorough. Based on experience with a previous vehicle where we had to use a warranty, having one is important. If you have a car that still has a lot of life left but no warranty, it’s worth having. We feel protected and the experience with CarShield has been positive, and I have recommended the product.

Just like any other warranty company, the print can be defective to those of us who sometimes have trouble understanding contracts and automotive terminology. So yes much of what we need done may not be covered under the contract but much is. I've been denied or have had to pay out of pocket for most of my claims but this last claim may go in my favor. I just wish things were more clear when it comes to coverages. For instance, my daughter's car have a dual clutch. So because of that they would not pay for a new or rebuilt transmission. Because inside the transmission is a part that is not covered by the warranty. So she traded the car in for another one and she dropped Car Shield.
I have no intentions on dropping car shield because I have had other warranty company and they are all about the same. So I feel like some coverage is better than none at all. So I suggest that you read your contract to the best of your knowledge and when you come across something that doesn't sound right or you just don't understand, then call car shield and have them explain it until you do. Customer service always rank from 3 to 5 but, claims rank from 1 to 3 most times. And like I said, it's because of our understanding of the contract. This company is terrible, my husband has had Carshield for 7 years and in those 7yrs we filed 4 claimed. They honor one, of course a simple part.... They claim to put the customer at ease which is a lie, if anything they make it worse.... They don't call the customer with any documents they need if they do need any. They assume the garage should which is ridiculous because they need it to continue the process.... They lie and make you feel helpless... My husband's truck was in the shop for over 7 weeks and in that time they made everything so stressful back and forth on my part mind you having the garage to do more work to try and get out of paying, we was so stressed out with all of daily life and added bills.
We chose to cancel Carshield and let everyone know they are a scam.... Please don't deal with them or any scamming secondhand side insurance. They aren't gonna pay for anything. You will owe a lot more to the garage yourself in the end.... I plan on taking the matter further since I kept every voice clip and made sure they knew it as well.... They should be sued by all since their opening commercial States they are there so we don't have to worry.. CROCK OF SHIT. THEY TAKE YOUR MONEY AND DO SHIT WHEN YOU NEED THEM!!!!

My experience with CarShield was absolutely horrible. It feels like they're happy to take your payments, but the moment you have a claim, everything changes. My vehicle was stuck in claim status for three agonizing weeks, and to make it worse, I couldn't even get in touch with their adjuster. They consistently refused to pay the full amount for my repairs and played games throughout the process, forcing me to call them repeatedly – sometimes several times for a single issue – just to get things moving. Honestly, save your money; you're far better off without them.
We understand your concerns and appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. After reviewing the claim, there were delays related to communication with the repair facility and obtaining the required information that had been requested multiple times. There were also challenges in confirming the final approved amount, which impacted the overall timeline.
If you would like to discuss the details further or have any outstanding questions, our Customer Service team would be happy to review everything with you and provide additional clarification.

I drive a 2006 Jeep Liberty and I've got 179,000 miles on it now. I signed up with CarShield from talking to other people that's got them. They have good reviews as well. Everything's been great every time I've talked to them. They have great customer service. I haven't had any claims yet but I like having good insurance. With CarShield, you've got some security knowing that you've got it in case you need it. I'd recommend them to a friend. I checked with another company but their price was 100-some dollars a month more than CarShield so I held on to CarShield.

I am very dissatisfied with Car Shield because my claim was denied and my contract was cancelled after I paid them premiums for a year. They reported the denial and the cancellation was due to a miles discrepancy when the policy was purchased. However, if there was an issue with the miles reported at the time of the policy being purchased it should have been rectified at that time, not used a year later to deny a claim after a monthly payment had been collected.
LaMaya, we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. At the time a policy is set up, the mileage provided is based on the information given by the vehicle owner, as we are not physically present with the vehicle. In this case, the Carfax report did indicate a mileage discrepancy, which was identified during the claims review process.
To help prevent situations like this, we have since implemented additional steps during the sales process to better confirm mileage accuracy from the start. We can also assure you that the timing of the claim decision was not related to your monthly payment date.

The experience with CarShield was not what they advertised it to be. When you pay a monthly fee without fail, you should have comprehensive coverage. The the whole premise of having coverage is to have a worry free experience. My experience was scrambling to get a rental which should be car shield priority for the customer. I shouldn’t have to wait until a diagnosis of the vehicle to be approved for a rental. I should have been given a car 24 hours after towing. Instead I had to get a car at my expense! To add to that, I didn’t get any coverage on my repair.

I'm an older woman and I need my car to stay in good shape, and it gets expensive at some point. I heard a lot about CarShield. When they called me, I thought that the way that they made things seemed like a good idea, but it ended up being the worst decision I made. They were horrible. They wouldn't pay for anything. I wasted a lot of money with them and I could never get them to do what I was told. I just took them off and canceled.
I submitted a claim for my shocks and another one for my Cadillac converter. There was another one for my flex pipe and the whole exhaust system. They wouldn't do anything for me. I took it to the shop, I ended up paying out of pocket. After I ended up paying out of pocket for all of that stuff, I just canceled them. I was denied for every claim that I ever tried to come with. I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy.

I'm absolutely disgusted with the CarShield claims department. I had 3 different reps promising to get back over a two week period. After okaying the work by a shop, they told me that I was responsible for $162.23 after the deductible and CS' payment. Job was $643.08-$250, CS paid $230.85..that left me on the hook for another $162.23. They it was for miscellaneous expenses.. I have immediately cancelled my contract with car shield. Endurance has a better contract, cheaper price, lower deductible, a much better website.
Ed, we appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback and understand your concerns with how the claim was handled. Upon review, there is a difference between what the repair facility charged for labor and what was verified using a nationally recognized labor guide, which accounts for a portion of the remaining balance. If there were additional costs beyond that, those charges were not disclosed to us as part of the claim.

This time, I filed it online and then I completed it through a phone call. I was told the claim process would take 24 hours, but I was able to submit the claim online and then I called them 30 minutes later to get it to where I can drop the car off at the auto repair service. I Googled car warranty companies and based on the reviews, I went with CarShield. Signing up was simple. I just called and talked to a representative, then I gave my mileage and what I wanted. Getting started with them was easy but it was a little pricey. One time, I took my car to the dealership and they put something in the notes saying that it needed a transmission. I had a claim with CarShield and there was a lot of backlash that was coming from them talking about they didn't know if they were going to be able to cover it. Then, I cancelled my warranty because I ended up trading in my car.
George, we’re glad to hear the initial sign-up process was straightforward for you. Upon review of the claim, we were awaiting service records showing that regular maintenance had been completed according to the manufacturer’s recommended schedule. I've seen CarShield on TV and I like the fact that they help people out with some of the expensive stuff. So, I signed up with them. In the beginning of the month, I found out that I could add an aluminum package to my plan, so I called in. I spoke to a person and they said I could do it. So, I told them that we'd do it, but they should move the payment from the 6th to the 20th because I wouldn't have enough to cover both. He said he did that, but I came to find out that he did not do that. Both payments ran and that overdrew my account.
They came out on Friday the 6th and it took me until last Friday of talking with people. I talked to somebody on Saturday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Finally I spoke to somebody on Friday who issued the refund. Unfortunately, that didn't help my overdraw fees. So CarShield has some reps that listen and some that are great in their jobs, but they have some lazy little punk kids that don't know how to listen.
Also, I invited friends and family to go with CarShield and they did. But after about five months, they had to do a claim and they had a hard time. They tried to do one on the motor and they were told that a part was not covered. But that part blew the motor up, how could it not be covered? Other than that, the lady that I spoke to last week was so helpful and nice. She said she could even get me a discount because I've been with them for so long. So she got me 15 bucks off and that was great. I've also used the app and I used it one time when I needed a tow. But where I live, some of the addresses can be messed up and that happened with the rep that I talked to. But she was able to get me a tow, then the tow driver and I figured it out. It was even shorter than what she put in there. So I don't blame her.

CarShield is kind of tricky. After I had bought my 2013 Cadillac, I decided I wanted to get something at the time and I picked CarShield. I just wanted to have something in case a problem came up on something major like the engine or the transmission. People kept telling me they weren't that good but I know they won't have us pay for stuff.
A few times, I had carried my car to the dealer shop and this last time, I had to pay for the the towing fee upfront, send CarShield a copy of the bill, and they reimbursed me. Before that, I had my car towed to the shop and they paid for it directly to the shop. So they switched from what they had said they would do. Then, on the things from what they would say what was wrong with the truck, they would say that it wasn't part of the coverage. For instance, they were saying that rotors wasn't covered on the policy and when I had a claim involving that, they didn't pay for it. But to me, it was covered. Other than that, CarShield's pricing is better than any of the other ones I tried. I wanted to go with Endurance once, but their advertising is false too. They say you're saving $500 but when you call in, it's different. You got to pay $400 in order to get the service started. But CarShield wasn't like that, so I'm still with them.

Wow, this is amazing all the negative reviews that I read. I am starting to see why there are so many now from my own experience. Customers work hard to try to pay for a service that they are hoping to get. I have been with CarShield for 3 years and I filed a request to have my transmission fixed. The request for service was called in on Monday, March 9, 2026, and the Service Advisor told me that CarShield told him that there was a 24 to 48 hours turnaround for an adjuster to come out to the repair facility to take a report on the vehicle. Now the adjuster came out, I was told his name was James ** and the report was given to Corey **.
Then I was told that another adjuster had to come back to the shop where the car was for another report because the first adjuster did not get all the required information. I called and did several follow ups on the status of the claim, and I know that this can take time in which CarShield told me that it can take 24 to 48 hours after the second adjuster makes his report as well. At this point, it is going on two weeks since the car has been in the shop with no approval for repair. I have been a paying customer since July of 2023 and here we are in March 2026. I have paid enough for a transmission at this point and there should be no problem approving a valid claim to take care of the transmission.
Now CarShield wants their payments for the contract, and I as the customer want CarShield to do their part and take care of the approval of the transmission repair as well. What is going on, I am not sure. This is starting to look like a bogus company. I was told that American Auto-Shield (the Claims Administrators) sends out the adjusters and the report comes back to them and then CarShield decides on the approval. I can understand CarShield needs to verify the claim but to keep going back and forth with this is not fair to the customer. This is not peace of mind, and neither is it reliable.
Take heed and note about this company and do your research. Everything is not always as it appears or stated. On the site it states and I quote: “Our Company-CarShield” that CarShield specialize in shielding our members from the high cost of automobile repairs." and then CarShield states:
“CarShield is committed to creating an exceptional experience by providing every family and their vehicles with a dependable, reliable, and affordable coverage solution for expensive automotive repairs.” I am not sure that CarShield knows what this statement means because I have not experienced this with them. CarShield has definitely not been dependable nor reliable.
"We (CarShield) Stands For Commitment. “This is why CarShield is so important. At this time of need, CarShield and its administrators are the ones that will protect you. CarShield administrators (American Auto Shield, Ltd) sends out the adjusters, and they make a report about your vehicle in the shop and covered repair items paid which puts your vehicle quickly and safely back on the road." Going on two weeks is not quick. Commitment to who because it does not appear to be the paying customer.”
“Peace of mind is priceless, so never skimp on a service you may need during an emergency. CarShield is highly rated on Google and helps drivers nationwide stay protected, saving customers thousands on costly repairs.” Peace of mind is priceless, but so far, I have not seen any of this. CarShield mentions "shade tree mechanics" but what about "shade tree warranties". How ironic it is for CarShield to say all of this and not follow through. Shame on you CarShield. CarShield may have some high ratings on Google, but the negative ratings are starting to outweigh the so-called high ratings. That is scary and can cause the customer to question CarShield’s integrity. CarShield is not protecting its customers as stated. I quoted all of this from the website because it is not as it appears. The request that I have at this point is for CarShield to follow through on all of what it states so that my car can be fixed and at that point, and then I will and can have the Peace of Mind that CarShield states.
Mary, thank you for taking the time to share your concerns and for being a customer since 2023. We understand how frustrating it can be to experience delays while your vehicle is in the shop, especially when you are waiting for updates on an important repair like a transmission.
The claims process can sometimes require multiple inspections or additional information from the repair facility to ensure the claim is reviewed accurately and in accordance with the terms of the contract. While this can take some time, these steps are part of making sure the proper information is gathered before a final decision is made.
We would appreciate the opportunity to look into the status of your claim and review the details with you. Please contact Customer Service at 1-800-587-4162 so we can assist further and address your concerns.

My vehicle was out of warranty and because of price point, I purchased an extended warranty from CarShield. I've been with them for about three years and I recently made a claim. The service people submitted everything and the whole process took five days. I have a preferred mechanic where I bring my vehicle and overall, my experience with CarShield has been great. They've done everything they said they would do and I would recommend them.

I got CarShield on my 2010 Camaro and my 2017 F-150, so I've been with them for a long time. I have the powertrain because of the miles on the car, and the price for the Camaro is decent. But the price for the F-150 is not. Filing a claim is neither easy nor difficult. Their first line of defense needs to be replaced because they're the first people who try to turn you down and they give you such a hard time. But once you get past them and you get to the escalation department, they're amazing. If CarShield were to get rid of that first group of people, they’ll get better reviews.
Anthony, thanks for taking the time to share this with us. We really appreciate you being with us for so long and trusting us with multiple vehicles. I had Endurance at first for about a month until I found out that they would fix your car only up to the value of the car. And then, it was only good for so many years. I was looking at the length of time you could have CarShield compared to the other warranty places and it is a lot longer. I had a claim at the beginning of November and it was very difficult. I got the car towed out to Nissan, and they checked the car, and let me know all the things that were wrong with it. We contacted CarShield and the inspector supposedly came out in two days to look at the car, and it took him more than a week to get out there. When he finally came, it took him forever to turn in the paperwork on the inspection, and he didn't even turn in all the paperwork he was supposed to turn in. I didn't get the car back till after my birthday, which was on November 14th. So, it took close to three weeks.
Everything's been okay so far. But it took me forever to talk to anyone from CarShield. I was without a car all that time, and CarShield told me they would only cover a loaner car or a rental car for so many days. I rented a car for two days because I had to have it for the weekend and I got reimbursed for that. But I asked if they were going to cover it for two weeks and they said no even though it was their fault. I had to wait for the adjuster to get there, and then they had to send a second adjuster out to do it the right way. As to the customer service, I had to keep calling back, asking different people, and getting transferred from one person to another. I kept getting passed around, and it was hard to get anyone to give me a straight answer.

I had a CarShield policy for a little over two months at one point, and I had to file a claim. Within the timeframe, the salesperson tried to convince me between one day over the other to not honor a claim. So, I ended up deciding to move on from them because I had followed the guidelines of my policy, but he was trying to find a way not to honor the service contract. They said that the vehicle had a pre-existing condition. That was what he tried to roll. I didn't appeal it. I cancelled my policy at that point. CarShield's reputation is good based off those who are really passionate about executing the mission statement of the company.
Finoy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. A review of the claim shows that both the repair facility and your statement indicated the needed repair occurred within the waiting period, which impacts eligibility under the contract. I had an issue with my car, and I took it to the mechanic. He did his diagnosis and went back to CarShield and told them what it was going to be. They said they were going to approve half of it. There was still a faint ticking that he noticed after he fixed it and he told them he would have to take the other half of the engine off so he could fix that, too, because it was caused by the same issue. I ended up having to come out of my pocket almost $3,000 because CarShield did not pay for it. They didn't give any good reason at all, which is the reason why the mechanic backed me up and wrote a letter of support stating that they've never seen any warranty company deny a claim that has something to do with the original diagnosis. It had made no sense at all.
It was a terrible experience. I’d never do it again. I saw CarShield on a TV commercial when my factory warranty ran out. Had I known that that was going to be the case, I would have either gone with another company or wouldn't have gone with CarShield at all. I’d advise people not to do it. I was off and on with them for a few years, but this last time, it was maybe about a year.

I gave CarShield the information they needed, they told me how much it was, and they set up the payment through the bank. They were all very friendly and professional. The warranty covers the power train, because I bought an old 2005 Ford Escape, and I could not afford the whole car. Everything was very pleasant during the sign-up but there was one bump in the road. I signed up for that Endurance thing because they told me it was cheaper. Then I started to cancel the CarShield. But I spoke to a young lady who got it all straightened out for me so that I could go back with them, and they lowered the payment a little bit. I'm old and on a very fixed income. So, anything is expensive to me. But I must be satisfied with the price because I'm keeping my CarShield contract.

I had CarShield, but they didn't want to cover anything. I only got it because my boyfriend at the time had it. But they got to where they refused all of his work on his truck, too. So, we both canceled. Everything that we had problems with, with the air conditioning on mine, they kept saying it wasn't covered. My boyfriend had a problem with his transmission, and his wasn't covered. He got mad, and he canceled his as well.
When we bought this truck together, he said, “I have CarShield, so let's put the Denali on as well.” I said, “Okay. Let's just do that.” The very first time that I started having problems with it, CarShield declined it. I was, “Why am I paying all this money for a warranty that you're not going to cover anything on anyway?” Because it had 170,000 miles on it at that point, CarShield was not inclined to cover anything. I was, “Then why didn't you tell me that when I signed up?” They said, “It's going to have normal wear and tear and all this stuff. And we don't cover this, and we don't cover that once it hits a certain mileage.” I wasn't impressed. I had it for a couple of months, and I canceled it. My boyfriend had his for a long time. Once they turned around and they wouldn't cover anything on the tranny, he canceled his. This is all within the last year.
I'm not going to waste my money on something where they're not even gonna pay for it at all. It’s a GMC Denali. It's an expensive truck, even though it has that many miles on it. I'm not going to pay almost $1,000 in payments for the truck every month, and pay CarShield on top of it, when they're not going to do anything to benefit me. Don't do it.

I am truly upset for what you did when it came to paying for the parts for my truck. Now you advertise you only pay 100 dollars for your deductible, now Pep boys says you argue about the cost of the part they needed to fix my truck. So you decided to make me pay for most of it. Now the total cost was 172.55 and I paid 85.19 plus my deductible and the total was 185.19 I paid out. The cost of the part they needed was too high so I had to pay some of it and I think that was petty on your part because of what you are saying on TV and what you did to me is a lie. CarShield is charging people way too much for the deductible and the insurance, which is why I left them. Most repair costs typically range from around $500 to $800, and you have to pay $500 of that, while the coverage only contributes $100 to $200. The consumer isn't happy with the cost of the deductible. We understand the price but in comparison to some other companies, like Endurance, that’s a little bit too much.
Cornelya, we understand your concerns regarding pricing and deductibles. Our coverage plans and pricing can vary based on the age and mileage of the vehicle. My husband had CarShield on his car, and I decided to take it out on my 2019 car that's paid for. However, I canceled it in January. My car is a 2019. When I needed some service on the car and that I needed shocks, they said that that was cosmetic. I realized then that I didn't do enough research with them because I didn't know what they paid. I was going by what my husband said, but he also said that they wouldn't cover something for him. I was paying $90 a month, and if anything happened to my car like when a motor goes out, I would just get another car because a motor cost $6,000 or $7,000. I wouldn't want to put a new motor in a 2019 Santa Fe. I just feel like I didn't do enough research on CarShield.
As far as their sign-up process, I was rushed through it. I wanted some time to think about it, and their rep told me that it wouldn't be that price on another day if I didn't do it then. So, I just signed up for it. I shouldn't have because that $90 that I'd pay for it every month, I'd never know when my car is gonna break down but it may cover it and it may not. Cosmetic problems has to be done by owners. They just do the higher-priced issues that you have with your car.

At the time, my warranty was expiring and when I contacted my warranty company, they said I couldn’t renew until I repaired it. And that made me look into CarShield. I saw them regularly on TV and thought I should hurry up and put a warranty on the car before something breaks.
When I signed up with CarShield, I called and asked for the service. Whatever they offered, I accepted. I needed another warranty, so they didn't pressure me. I took my car to the Chevy Genesis dealer and told them I had CarShield. They told me to get rid of it right away because of the experiences they had, and they said they don’t use them. That’s where I take my car for service, so I canceled CarShield and went back to my old warranty company. I thought CarShield was going to be a good warranty company and I didn't have a bad experience with them. It's just that my dealership said that they didn't deal with them. I'm still going through an experience with CarShield, and it's not been good. I'm in the process of trying to get them to pay my claim. It's going on three months now, and I still don't have a yes or no. They've declined the claim several times for no reason at all. The last thing they sent me were receipts that already showed that the work has been done on Carfax, but they wanted me to go out and get receipts. It clearly says on Carfax that I had an oil change, but they said that they needed the receipts. They needed proof of my proof. It seems like they wanna prolong everything so I continue to pay the monthly fee.
I got started with CarShield after my mechanic referred me to them because I have 178,000 miles or so on my car. He said he has a lot of people that uses CarShield that he has referred. He said, “Well if you you're gonna keep the car, then you might as well have some insurance on it and some protection." So, I agreed, and I signed up for it I don't know if I signed up with the right company or not. I was with them for a few years before, and I turned in a claim for a $1,000 claim, and they denied it. So, I canceled and I was without it for a few years, and then I just signed back up.
This most recent experience has been going on for almost two months. I've spent the amount of money that I could have had my motor replaced on a rental car. I could have just bought it myself and been done with it. I’ve spoken with every single person that they will allow me to speak to. I call about every day. They keep telling me that they need more and that it's declined because there are gaps in Carfax, but there are no gaps in Carfax. There were originally two of them because my mechanic had an older software so it didn't report to Carfax. So, what they told me is they needed the receipts for the past few months because that didn't show up on the Carfax. I just showed them the receipts that I got from my mechanic, and it seemed like everything was good. The oil change was done every 10,000 miles, and then they finally just came back.
The first time that somebody has called me was Tuesday of this week. It was somebody from underwriting, and they said they need receipts for new oil changes. These oil change receipts that they're asking for were already reported to Carfax, so I don't know why they needed it. I just sent those receipts in the day before yesterday. They were supposed to be back within 24 hours. They never called me back except for that one time. So, I called them back and they said it was gonna be another 24 hours, which goes into today. If they don't pay the claim, then they put me through all of this crap for nothing, and I'm now out $7,000 for nothing because they don't wanna pay the claim. As of right now, any time I hear anything about CarShield, it makes my skin crawl. It's that bad.

I have two cars and when I called Carshield to add another car, they couldn't give me any kind of deal. That really irritated me. I was trying to give them more business. The lady from CarShield explained to me that the power train for my car would be covered. When I went in depth and asked her about specific things, such as my radiator and items to that degree, she explained that those things were covered as well. Those are the things that make my car operate. I wanted to make sure that if those go out, I will be getting assistance. However, I did not feel like I was able to achieve the coverage that I was looking for, so I let it die out. I let them fizzle out this month because my radiator did go bad and they did not cover it. They said they only cover the water pump. The water pump wasn't what needed to be changed. So, at that point, it was no good to me.

Got a rental. Three days later after back and forth had it fixed. Car and part sat for three days. Rental was supposed to be covered by the time it was fixed. My deductible and extra I paid for rental. If they would just have fixed it like they did it would have all been covered three days sooner. They paid half the bill. Told me I was responsible for the rest. when I first bought my plan I was told I only pay my deductible.

I have a 2018 Chevy Cruze and I was looking for coverage to get a replacement for my vehicle because the replacements are expensive these days. I don't have any money to pay the repair shop, which can be costly, so I decided to get a warranty. CarShield had a promotion in TV shows and on radio that they’re the best coverage, there's no deductible, and they will cover 100% of the cost. I signed up and I pay monthly, but I didn't get the coverage I wanted. There's no security. They always say that they're gonna fix something and they never do it, and the promotion that they have never comes true. They have bad service and I'm unhappy.

In July, 2021, I purchased a used car with low miles and in rather good condition from a reputable dealer; however, without purchasing an extended warranty. I joined Car Shield for car repair protection in case repairs were needed. After three months of owning the vehicle, I began experiencing various mechanical issues over a short period, including faulty electrical wiring and a defective engine oil sensor. In addition, a replacement radiator hose. I took the car to an established dealer of my car's make, in this case, a Chrysler dealership. Every time the dealer called Car Shield, the dealer was told these parts were not covered. Furthermore, the dealership's advice was to drop Car Shield because the experience with other customers was the same. So, I did and never referred to them again. Buyer beware.

Getting the coverage from CarShield was easy. They went through what they do and what's covered and what's not, which the average person doesn't know about cars. And when they tell them, "Well, we cover this and we cover that and timing chain and all of that," the average person doesn't know all of that. They don't know where a timing chain is in a car. They don't know if a car does have a timing chain. But see, my husband was a mechanic. I know some different things. So, they named a lot of things that that cover.

The gentleman who signed me up was nice but what he told me wasn’t transparent. It's not true what they tell you. They made it sound like any time you take your car to the shop, it will be repaired. All the shop has to do is submit the invoice, and CarShield will handle the rest. But that's not the way it works. My car had to go in the shop for something minor, and it wasn't covered. CarShield responded quicker than the other companies that I contacted. I also had them before when I bought an Audi Q7 Diesel SUV. The car had it on a program, and so the dealership was able to transfer it over. So, I just kept it. This time around, I've got a Hyundai Genesis, and I called CarShield to sign it up. Everything was good. The reps seemed professional and polite. I was happy with them. I've read through some of the policy because I'm gonna put out some money to do the suspension on those cars.
One of the complaints with my car is they're a little bit stiff-riding because it's a heavy car and it really holds the road at high speeds. It's designed for European or really big roads. The policy had the details in it. You could not do certain things to the engine performance. You couldn't do anything with the computers. I read through all of that and I'm satisfied that I can do a little bit of what I need to do on the suspension without violating their rules. So, I'm good to go.

To whom it may concern I am somewhat dissatisfied with my first claim experience after registering with Carshield 3 years ago. The process should be expedited after the claim is made there's no reason for my car to be in the repair shop for 1 1/2 weeks without it being approved. After calling customer service 3 times I was told the inspector never showed up to the repair shop the day he was scheduled which delayed the process even more. Thankfully the delaer provided me a loaner car to get to/from work and other places or else I would have be inconvienced to the highest degree.
What happens if I didn't have a loaner car for that extended period of time does car shield cover transportation charges? If not this is why the claim process should be expedited especially for non major repairs. I had a 2013 Jeep and its transmission started acting up. I saw CarShield on the TV and I got their extended warranty. Whenever I had a claim, I called them, then I took my car to a mechanic, and they'd call CarShield about the problem. Sometimes I would be the one calling but the garage place usually did that. The last time I had claim was when the oil filter housing cracked twice on my Jeep and they replaced it both times. The mechanic had it for two weeks and CarShield didn't really help with the process. I kept in contact with the dealer more than anything.
My car was in the shop a lot. I also had the upper and lower manifold gaskets put in it, but that still didn't stop the problem. Every time you would put it in reverse when it was cold, it would stall out and they couldn't figure out the problem. They more or less just kept throwing parts at it and it was nickel and diming to death. So I traded it in and now, I have CarShield on a 2016 Chevy Cruze as I transferred the policy over to it. I like that CarShield has been prompt. When you call them, they don't let you hang around a long time and they usually get right on it. The only downfall was they were using bad parts. The dealership I had it at the last time wanted to put their part in it and CarShield wouldn't pay for that. It costs a little bit more, but you don't have to put two of them in. I don't know how long that one will last because I don't have the Jeep anymore, but that part is known to crack.
Thomas, thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed overview of your experience. We appreciate you explaining both the challenges you faced with your Jeep and the positive interactions you’ve had with response times and transferring your coverage to your Chevy Cruze. Regarding parts, repair facilities are able to discuss options with you, including using their preferred or dealership parts. If there is a price difference between the approved part and the alternative selected, the customer would be responsible for covering that difference in cost. We understand how important quality and longevity are when it comes to repairs, and if you ever have questions about a claim or parts authorization, Customer Service is always available to review the details with you and provide clarification.

CarShield is the worst place you could ever get a car warranty through. I saw them on TV and I thought they were legit, which was why I got my warranty from them. That was the first time I ever had them. When I call, I get transferred multiple times and they never call back. Each time I call, I have to start over, and nobody seems to know what they’re doing. I filed a claim, but they kept nitpicking and then said they probably won’t fix the car after it’s torn apart. I canceled my service and went somewhere else.

This company is a fraudulent, deceptive company! A SCAM, DON'T JOIN! I have had a contact for 6 years, paying, just shy of $8,000. I didn't have any claims until recently. They denied the major repair claims even though they state in their literature and contract they cover transmission and coolant systems. They do not list any part numbers in the contracts. So, what they do is deny claims stating they don't cover that part!! There are no parts listed in the contracts! They just make it up and deny claims because they don't want to pay for the repairs! Not only that, when I called customer service on two different occasions from 2 different repair shops to find out why the claims were not covered they stated there were no denials!! Outright lies!! I took the car to 2 different repair places, a dealership and repair shop.
Part of the reason I moved the car because I thought the dealership wasn't being honest and they didn't turn in the claims for the radiator and transmission. Then the second repair shop called me and told me they had denied the claims for the radiator and transmission. I called American Auto Shield and they lied again when I called to find out why they denied the claims!!I was told there were no denials!! I know for a fact that both places did turn in the claims for the radiator and transmission. I'm out the almost $8,000 and a car, because it's too expensive to have it fixed. The reason I joined car shield was for the expensive repairs like the transmission. There is much more to this awful experience! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!
Nikki, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We understand how stressful and overwhelming this situation can be, especially after having coverage in place for so long and facing major repair concerns.
Upon review, the information provided by the repair facility shows that some of the engine components needing repair are not listed for coverage under the contract, and the transmission parts identified were also not included as covered components. At this time, the claim remains pending while the Claims Department waits for additional information from the repair facility to help confirm the cause of the issue.
We know this has raised a lot of concerns, and our Customer Service team would like the opportunity to walk through everything with you and provide clarity. Please contact Customer Service at 1-800-587-4162 so we can address this with you directly.

I did everything online to sign up and then CarShield called me and got the rest of the information from me. It was easy. I got the gold plan and they told me that once I download the app in whatever area I'm in, anybody that takes CarShield can do the repairs. I recently had to file a claim and I didn't know that they were waiting on a service receipt from me and I had just figured it out. I thought I uploaded both pages of the document three days ago. But I didn't know that when you're uploading, it only let you upload one document at a time. I just saw that today so I had to upload the second page to it.
Larry, we appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. We understand how the document upload process could cause some confusion, especially when submitting multiple pages. Claims can sometimes require all requested documentation before moving forward, and we’re glad you were able to identify what was missing and get it submitted. Absolutely Non Responsive to my Claim. Waste of Money. Too many hoops to jump over. Dealers in my area don't or want accept Car Shield as warranty coverage. Had vehicle problems where vehicle couldn't be started, moved, etc. Had to have towed to my regular mechanic. He said he couldn't do anything that on;t a Ford Dealer could diagnose and fix problem. Call CarShield because my local dealer doesn't honor Car Shield. Keep in mind I had to have vehicle towed to any vehicle maintenance facility. Talked to Car Shield Rep and she advised to take to Midas Muffler. Before I had vehicle towed to Midas I call them, based on Car Shield's recommendation. Neither Midas could help me. They both referred me to the Ford Dealership.
I had my vehicle towed to the Only Ford Dealership in Greensboro, NC. I was aware that Green Ford may not honor Car Shield however I felt that Car Shield would reimburse me for the repairs. Later the Service Manager did get an approval code but after all was said and done Car Shield DENIED CLAIM. No Explanation, NOTHING. So I'm out $ 3,000.00. If your vehicle can only be repaired by a dealer and the dealer doesn't accept Car Shield what's a customer of Car Shield to do. Tow your vehicle x number of miles to a dealership that does accept Car Shield. Absolutely Ridiculous.
James, thank you for taking the time to explain what happened. We can certainly understand how upsetting and frustrating this experience must have been. We do want to clarify that the contract requires prior authorization before repairs are completed. This allows us to verify the cause of failure, confirm part and labor pricing, and review other required details before approving a claim. If repairs are performed without that authorization in place, the claim may not be eligible for payment under the agreement.
If you have any questions or concerns about how your claim was handled or how the contract applies, our Customer Service team is here to address them. Please call 1-800-587-4162, and we’ll be glad to speak with you.

I had a Range Rover that had an issue. I submitted it to CarShield in 2022. The service shop attempted to contact CarShield on my behalf, but nowadays I would use the little pamphlet guide that says what I have to do if I got an issue. I read and follow the instructions. It would take a couple of days for that to be processed. However, on several occasions my claims weren't covered. I've never had a claim covered, which makes me question why I still have CarShield.
If you talk to people, they say CarShield will cover and do the transmission, engine, the expensive stuff that people worry about. Unfortunately, there were transmission-related things that I submitted for that CarShield said they wouldn't cover. Also, it's getting more difficult to find mechanic shops that are reputable that are willing to accept CarShield. When I've gone into reputable dealerships and/or mechanic shops, they say, “We don't mess around with CarShield because they have a poor history of paying out. It's really difficult for us to work with, so we take the stress out of our life. We're not dealing with them anymore." I'm comfortable enough that I continue to pay for the service, but if I submitted a claim again and it wasn't covered, I would drop it.
Wayne, we appreciate you taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We understand why repeated claim denials would be frustrating and raise questions about the value of your coverage. Please know that coverage decisions are based on the specific parts listed in your contract, and not all transmission-related components are covered under every plan, even when the system itself is mentioned.
Customers are welcome to take their vehicle to any ASE-certified repair facility or dealership; however, it is ultimately up to the repair facility whether they choose to accept coverage. We recognize that this can sometimes make the process more challenging, and we take that feedback seriously.
If you’d like a clearer review of your coverage, past claims, or what would be eligible should you file another claim, our Customer Service team would be happy to go over those details with you and answer any questions you may have.

I left the parking lot of a store less than 1/2 mile from my house and was waiting on a traffic light and the car's gauge started to show overheating, I drove the few blocks home, pulled the car in my driveway and seen coolant under car. I called a towing service and had car delivered to a Dodge dealer. The inspector from CarShield came after 2 days and said the car's engine had to be broken down before OK for fix.
After a few days the dealer called me and said claim was turned down .After calling CarShield and going several people trying to find out why claimed was denied I got the answer from them. "You put coolant in car and continued to drive car." A completely false statement! I called dealer and asked if he told inspector that they said no. I called back and asked to talk to a supervisor and was told I had to give them the message and I could not speak directly with one. I told them the story and the statement was totally false. I was still denied and ask to speak to someone else. I was told no. By this time a month had gone by and dealer was looking for an 11K for replacement..
Lonny, we appreciate you sharing these details and understand how concerning this situation has been. After a thorough review and escalation of the claim, the final determination was that the failure was attributed to the continued operation of the vehicle after the overheating condition occurred. Based on that finding, the claim was adjudicated in accordance with the terms and exclusions outlined in the contract.
We recognize that this is not the outcome you were hoping for. If you have any further questions or would like to discuss the determination in more detail, we recommend contacting Customer Service at 1-800-587-4162, and our team will be happy to assist.

DO NOT USE CARSHIELD !!! I've been a customer since 2019. Many repair facilities, including dealerships, are no longer accepting CarShield because of the difficulty they experience in dealing with CarShield's Claims Service and not receiving payments for approved warranty work. Today, I called Customer Service and spoke with JOHN to request cancellation of my plan. He was extremely argumentative, combative, and refused to cancel my policy. He kept insisting I should "take a few more days to reconsider" and "not make a hasty decision". I insisted I just wanted to cancel and this was not open for debate, discussion, or negotiation. He continued refusing to cancel so I hung up.
I then attempted to remove my credit card through CarShield's mobile and web apps and neither would allow me to remove my card. I called their Payment Processing center and they're not able to remove my card either. They routed me back to Customer Service and yes, I was connected to JOHN again. This time, he accommodated my request although I'm still awaiting my confirmation email. I've alerted my Credit Union (cardholder) and they're on alert for potential fraud if I receive another charge from CarShield. Here's a link to an FTC (Federal Trade Commission) article that sounds a lot like CarShield's practice (**).

CarShield – DO NOT GET SCAMMED. I had CarShield coverage for years and never filed a single claim. The one time I did—and followed all required policies and procedures—they told my dealership I had no coverage, which was completely false. My dealership (Acura of Norwalk, CT) called CarShield directly for pre-authorization and was told I was not covered. Because of that, I proceeded with the repair knowing the work needed to be done. Afterward, when I called CarShield to cancel my policy, a representative suddenly told me that I did have coverage and that the repair should have been covered.
Since then, CarShield has backtracked, altered their records, and now refuses to pay the claim. They even told the dealership they would process it as a “claim error” and reverse it as a one-time courtesy—then completely stopped responding. No callbacks. No resolution. Even the dealership acknowledged that what happened was wrong and attempted to help because they could see I was misled. This company is deceptive, unreliable, and untrustworthy. Please learn from my experience and do not get scammed the way I did.
For this reason, we always recommend that the repair facility complete a full diagnosis and contact us directly with their findings. This ensures we are reviewing the exact failed component and can determine coverage accurately.
Because the repair was performed without prior authorization — a requirement clearly outlined in your contract — we’re unable to provide reimbursement. All repairs must be reported and approved before work begins in order to be eligible for coverage.

My name is Pierre **. I have had CarShield for almost five years. I have been paying all this time without complaints and have not had major issues with my car. Last Wednesday, my heater went dead. I called CarShield and spoke with a nice lady, Ms. Carol from Missouri. I told her that I am experiencing heating issues in my car. She told me that to go to my mechanic and they will diagnose – that my deductible is $100. She also wanted to recommend some mechanics in my area. Last Thursday, I took my car to Nissan. To my surprise I got a call from my mechanic saying the heater box is not covered by CarShield. I asked him, "Are you sure?" So I called Carshield and was told the same thing. The lady I spoke with told me several parts that are covered including heating/cooling and the heater box is not one of them.
I am not a mechanic and don’t fix cars. But, as a human being, if my arm is covered, will not also my fingers be? Are not my fingers also part of my arms. I have paid Carshield thousand of dollars over the years and now that I need you to fix my car, they are not standing behind their promise. Is not what an extended warranty for – to be there when it is needed? They might not want to hear it, but when I first spoke with the gentleman who sold me this warranty, he told me that I am covered from bumper to bumper and my deductible was $100. As crazy as it sounds, those were the words of a salesperson wanting to close a deal at all costs and I bought into it.
I had to work out a deal and paid $2800 out of my own pocket. Save yourself some aggravation. Stay away from them. Carshield hires big stars to do commercials for them. But when it comes time to pay, they find reasons not to. Their customer satisfaction really really sucks. Call your mechanic or dealership and tell them you have Carshield and hear what they have to say. They will tell you the real truth, nothing else but the truth.
Pierre, that’s certainly not the experience we want for our customers. Our records indicate that a confidential settlement was reached. We're very sorry to lose you as a customer. If you need anything further in the future, please don’t hesitate to give us a call.

I've seen the commercials about CarShield and thought of trying it. Their price for the month which I have on automatic deduction wasn't too bad, so that helped.
When something happens, I tow my truck to the garage, give them my account number from CarShield then they call in and deal with CarShield. I wasn't too sure if I wanted to keep CarShield after the first time that I filed a claim. They didn't wanna pay at all because I didn't tow the truck. I didn't know my transmission was gone. I have an Audi Q7 and my regular warranty ran out. I heard about CarShield through advertisements and thought it was the best choice. However, it was not because they denied my claim for an engine replacement, citing a preexisting condition due to spark plug changes, which I believe is false. Despite my efforts to address this with them, CarShield refused to review the claim to see if that's something that can be overlooked. That has happened twice and I'm very unhappy about that. I have CarShield to cover the engine costs and it's not covering at all. Now, I'm left to cover the engine replacement cost myself. I haven't even received a hard copy of their contract or handbook. Given my experience, I would advise others against choosing CarShield.
Roosevelt, we appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and understand why this situation has been frustrating. When I bought my truck, another person who had a truck had told me about their experience with CarShield, and they were happy with them. I signed up as well as I like to travel a lot and I knew that my regular warranty would run out fairly quick. I wanted to have extra coverage since it was an expensive truck and I was gonna be paying on it longer than my regular warranty would cover.
It's been over two years now that I've been with CarShield, and the car vendor does the claims on my behalf. I've had one person call me about one of the claims to give me a heads-up that a certain dollar value wasn't gonna be covered. I appreciated that. I've been very happy with CarShield's coverage. I've only had one claim that was denied which was some wiring. It was deemed to be corrosion from wear and tear so I understood that. I've been happy with their customer service and their follow-ups, and I would recommend CarShield highly. They've been easy to work with.
Michael, we really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. It’s great to hear that a recommendation helped lead you to CarShield and that the coverage has given you added confidence while traveling. We’re glad the claims process has been smooth through your dealer and that our transparency and responsiveness have met your expectations, even when a repair wasn’t eligible for coverage. Thank you for choosing CarShield and for being a valued customer.

I have CarShield for two years now. I'm used to submitting a claim, from the first couple of ones I filed. I dial the number and go from there. I go to my policy, call, and get my policy number. I got the car to the shop. They had to do their analysis on it. It could take a day and a half, depending on the shop, because a lot of times they have other cars before me. Whenever the shop is done, they draw up the estimate and tell CarShield what they found, call them and see if I'm covered. If CarShield says I'm covered, which I was on the last one, everything will be in motion. Everything has been fine.
Something changed in the policy, which is the rental situation. Normal people can't go three days without their vehicle. They probably would need a rental car. Rental cars were given on the house at first. However, a lot of things went sky-high. A lot of people now don't have the money to come out of their pocket right on the spot to purchase a rental. When I had a situation and I needed a rental car, I didn't have money. CarShield granted me the rental car. Just go up there, make the claim, and I picked up the rental. The other time, I was short on funds and in a bad spot. I couldn't get the rental because I didn't have the funds. CarShield should look into letting the customer get the rental versus having them to come out their pocket and CarShield reimburses it. It can work for some people, but it can't for some.
Todrick, we’re happy to hear that filing claims has been easy for you and that recent repairs were handled without much delay. It’s also helpful to know where things didn’t go as smoothly, like the towing experience and the rental policy changes. Your feedback matters and helps us improve and better understand our customers’ needs. We appreciate you continuing with CarShield, and if you ever have questions or want to review coverage details, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

It's been a terrible experience with CarShield. I had agreed to buy the policy but after reviewing it when we finally received the policy in the mail, it wasn't what was advertised to us. There were a lot of things that weren't covered that the rep had stated would be covered. In the meantime, I got charged. When I canceled it within the first 30 days, I got charged for the first month. What happens is CarShield charges first. Then you can cancel and get a refund for that. But they charged me for the following month and I haven't gotten a refund from that.
I got the refund for the cancellation and I was supposed to get a check in the mail for the second charge. They said, for some reason, they couldn't process it with the credit card. I got such a runaround and have called several times, but I'm still waiting for that refund. It's been two months when they said it would take up to 14 days for me to receive it. There is only one number you can call. You can't speak to anyone in the accounting department. You have to speak to a salesperson. They keep wanting to try to sell me more but that's not what I'm interested. I'm interested in settling my dispute with them as far as the refund goes.
Laura, thank you for taking the time to share your experience. After reviewing your account, we can confirm that the additional refund has been issued. They called me and made me choose right then and there to purchase it. They said they could give me a deal and waive some kind of fee. I was nearing the end of my warranty and so, I figured I better get something. CarShield was the first one that popped up in a quick search I was doing and I figured I'd give them a shot. The sales reps were all polite but were very misleading. They built it up like they're the greatest thing since sliced bread and my portion of the copay was very cheap. After I got the welcome packet, I came to find out my copay is $500 and $1,000. If the alternator went out on my Jeep, it's only $300 so, why would I pay $500 as a copay? They're a waste of time and money.
John, thank you for sharing your feedback. We understand how unexpected costs can be frustrating, and we appreciate you taking the time to explain your concerns.
Coverage details, including deductibles and any applicable copays, are outlined in the service contract and can vary by plan and repair type. Calls are recorded for quality assurance, and upon review, the sales representative confirmed the deductible amounts during the enrollment call. We understand how details can still feel unclear once reviewing the welcome materials, and we’re continually working to improve clarity throughout the process.
If you’d like further explanation of your contract or have additional questions about how costs are determined, Customer Service can review your plan in more detail and provide assistance.

The first claim I filed with CarShield went flawlessly. It took 10 or 15 minutes. But for the second claim that I tried to file with my Explorer at a Ford dealership, we had some problems. They said they were not accepting CarShield anymore because of their bad business practice. What happened was when the dealership would call CarShield, they had a hard time answering the phone and wouldn't get back to them right away. There were claims that the Ford dealership had to eat because CarShield didn't pay out on it.
I called CarShield and had a conversation with them. I have the Diamond policy which covered everything and was paying $130 a month. The person at CarShield was surprised with what she was hearing. She put her manager on who immediately felt bad about what happened and gave me a discount. Instead of $130 monthly, I would be paying $70. However, it went back and forth between myself, CarShield, and the dealership. I had to pay the bill and CarShield came back and sent me a check for what should have been covered. But I still had to go through that process, which is not something people really want to deal with. It was an aggravating experience, and I was a little disappointed. I've been happy with CarShield, but the next time I make a claim and the dealership won't accept it, I don't know what I'm gonna do.
