I request a credit increase from Wal-Mart. I was paying my bill on time even early and multiple times during the month. I received a denial letter stating no increase, but my credit limit was reduced. I had $250.00 available and I had a $700 limit. Wal-Mart reduced my limit to a point where my card is almost maxed out and that will reflect on my credit report. I now have $2 available and a $540 limit. If I did not ask for the increase, my limit would have never been reduced. This is in violation of the FCRA 2010 (data mining) as seen on the news on channel 4 in Dallas, Texas, which aired on 4/15/2012 at 9:45 pm. I never had an issue with paying my bill. I have been paying on my account with no issues.
Consumer Complaints & Reviews

I already had a Wal-Mart Credit Card and a cashier asked me if I wanted to upgrade my current card to a new Wal-Mart Discovery Credit Card. The difference is that my old credit card did not have a Discovery logo which I could only use at Wal-Mart stores, but the new Discovery Wal-Mart Credit Card could be use anywhere. Once I received the new Discovery Wal-Mart Credit Card, I started using it because the old one was no longer useful. 3 months later, I got a call from Wal-Mart collectors that I'm past due on my account. I have been current with my payments up until today, but they told me that the payments are up to date with the Discovery Wal-Mart Credit Card not with my old Wal-Mart Credit Card.
When I called Wal-Mart services, I found out that I have two credit cards with Wal-Mart. So the old card that supposed to be an upgrade was not, and so now I have to send a payment to Wal-Mart Discovery and to my old Wal-Mart Credit Card account because I apparently have two accounts and two balances. I am so aggravated by finding out that what they offer me was not what I got. I think it's kind of ridiculous to want to have two credit card accounts with the same store and to have to send 2 payments each month.

For Christmas, my mother was given a gift card. She misplaced the receipt. I went to my local Wal-Mart to see what could be done to use the card. I was treated like I stole the card. My mother is 85 years old, suffering from Alzheimer's disease. I don't have to steal a ** thing. Why wasn't the card activated at the cash register when purchased? How much profit did Wal-Mart make at our expense.

The gas pumps show a savings on gas when you use a Walmart card. The gas pumps say Walmart credit card or Walmart card. They will not give you the discount at Russellville. At all the other places, you will get the discount in all the other towns I have purchased from, but not Russellville, Alabama.

I hope it is worth a Wal-Mart credit to charge us late fees after I paid the card off two times. I hope that the $26.41 you just got from us is worth it. We are changing all of our prescriptions to another store. This is hundreds per month--trust me. My wife and I are double covered (insurance), and we have to have expensive drugs every month. I have spent tens of thousands of dollars at Wal-Mart. I hope $26.41 is worth it. Our account number is **; this is your last chance to make it right. Remember, just my core family spends $600.00 a month at this store. Is $26.41 worth it guys?

I am sick and tired of getting "Congrats etc. You have won a Walmart card. Please fill out the short survey and win your gift". This is a scam and should be against the law. First, you go through a process of entering pertinent information about yourself. And then, they want your cell phone number. Give me a break. That is like giving your SS number. It opens up more and more scam junk on your telephone minutes. Please reconsider your position on these kinds of scams, because you are getting bad publicity. I don't even finish the survey scam. This is a bunch of junk and Walmart should not be a part of it.

Victim of upsale - was not told that charges to initiate credit card was not being charged to my credit card that I used to purchase my items for 20 promotional fee to open a line of Walmart credit.
Next day, I immediately went into Walmart and cancelled the account after calling the credit card center, which informed that I could not cancel until receiving first statement where I would be charged 10% interest fee. I responded with a statement that I was a victim of a credit card scam with their fraudulent tactic to collect interest from customers when they find out the indirect way of not informing that you can not cancel and not being told that you are being billed for the initial payment.
This is the biggest scam I have paid twice. Once, with my credit card and was told I was cleared only to be billed later with more interest to be told after investigating that my card was invalid it was the same visa debit card that I used when I initiated service. I followed up by physically going to the store, paid in cash 76 on 03-30-2011 after confirming with the highest supervisor explaining that I had to pay 76 to remove any fees owed. However, I explained I was in escrow and this was showing a negative on my credit rating then and currently now. They have not removed these charges, which they can clear themselves with all credit reporting agencies upon conversation I stipulated them to do or I will proceed with legal action.
In conclusion, I am seeking legal representation on a congressional level for this scam to be handled in court on the basis of economic and punitive damages. Please respond with utter importance.

I have a Walmart credit card. I made a substantial payment (paid in full) on August 4, 2011. I went shopping on August 11, 2011 and my card was declined while I was in line. I had to get out of line, go to customer service, and call the number on the back of the card.
I did so, and the lady on the other line told me that there was a hold on my card that it would not clear until tomorrow and that there was nothing she could do. I had to pay for my now defrosting groceries with the remaining balance of the card and the rest with my debit card (which was to pay bills).
So, I went home and called 1800 Walmart to make a complaint. They told me that I had to call 1-866-611-0048 and ask for a supervisor. So this is what I did. When I was transferred to a supervisor, I tried to explain to him that I made the payment, that it has cleared my bank but it is money that I am unable to use. He then told me that the funds will be available tomorrow. This is not helping me today when I needed the groceries, and the fact that I won't be able to shop tomorrow as I have a job and have to go to work.
So, my complaint is that I can make a substantial payment (over $500) and Walmart can hold it for over a week so that I can not use it, but when I am late on a payment they are so fast to charge me a late fee. Can I charge them a fee for making me wait? I had to call and make arrangements with my electric company so that I can pay for the groceries today where I should have been able to use the card for. It's not like I can use the Walmart card tomorrow to pay my electric bill, now can I?
Where is the convenience of having a card if I can not use it? Why would I even use it if it is not even worth my time and effort? I pay my bill on time and pay it in full so that I don't get charged fees and I am still getting treated like crap!

This was a phone call made by me, dealing with a Walmart money card that I put my own money on. After telling the phone clerk who answered that I don't remember my pin number, she kept on asking me about the last time I put money on the card. I told her that I did put some when I went home to California, but I don't remember how much. I just had a cousin who died and I went home for the funeral, and I have a lot on my mind with school.
By that time, we did not come to any agreement on my card and the information she was asking me. So, I asked to talk to her supervisor and we went through the same thing. I told her when Adult Finder, a dating service, took money from my account without my permission, they did not send me a copy to see if my money was back on, but they kept giving me a hard time when I told them that I am the real guy, who was the card holder of this Walmart card. I was borrowing a person's phone at school because I don't own one and I was on hold for a long time, and the matter was not solved!

I bought a "gas card", asked for the amount to be $25.00 twice. The young male clerk did not hear me and set it up for $45.00. Upon pointing out the error, I was sent to Customer Service. No one was there for at least a minute or more. Then the young lady tried to void the card and redo it for $25.00. No luck. A few minutes into this, she went to get a manager. Some 8 to 10 minutes later, a gentleman named Michael (Customer Service Manager) showed up. He spent several more minutes trying to fix this problem. No luck. After another 3 or 4 minutes, I decided to just go home. A real pain in the **.

I opened a Walmart credit card in February.I was supposed to be given the promotion of no interest for a year on a purchase greater than $300. GE, who manages the card, did not honor that until I hounded them for months. They also failed to post the online payments I made through my bank for a couple of months, and then suddenly started doing so, but not posting the earlier payments that they had missed.
It resulted to a black mark on my credit score. They would not send a letter to the credit companies to fix that, but stated that their monthly statement to the credit companies would be adequate. I hope so. Anyway, although they did make most things right after months of nagging, my fellow consumers out there might think twice about opening a Wal-mart account. If you have one, watch that monthly statement like a hawk.

I am retired. I pay my bills around the the first of the month because I receive my retirement check on the first of each month. Wal-Mart charged a late fee because of early payment, because according to them, I am paying too early. They claim that I have to wait until billing cycle is over. How are consumers supposed to know this? I paid my August bill on August 4, 2010 and according to them that payment was for July, even though I had paid July's bill on July 19, 2010.
I am not behind in my payments. I have paid my September bill on September 2, 2010, and am being told that payment will be credited for August and it has generated a higher interest rate because it is considered late and now they want me to make another payment for September. I am on a fixed income. I cannot afford to make another payment for the same bill. Please help. Thank you.

My husband died 15 years ago but the credit card is still in his name. I've used the card, paid the bills on time all these years but can't get the card transferred to my name. Why not?

I bring my own bags to put my purchases in, doing my part in going green. And I go through my normal shopping and then go through the self check out lane. I normally don't keep my receipts unless I know I might need to return an item, but for everyday groceries, I throw my receipts away as soon as I get them. As I was walking out the door, a man came up to me and said that he works for for Walmart security and he needed to ask me a question and if I could come with him.
I didn't think anything of it and said okay. He led me to the back of the store with some blonde. When I got to the back, they asked for my receipt and told me that I didn't purchase my items because the lady saw me put laundry detergent under my cart. ( I was 9 months pregnant at the time and I had my 1 yr old with me also). I asked her where she puts her detergent and she didn't answer. She was very rude to me. They told me that I stole all the items in my cart. (I did not steal anything from Walmart). I told them over and over again that it was a big misunderstanding and that I did in fact pay for my items.
They told me that I needed to have someone come get my child or OCS would take her. (I called my husband and he came up there about 30 minutes later.) They gave me no information on what is going on except that I had stolen all the items in the cart, which again I did not. They ended up calling the police and had me arrested and they told me I was not allowed at Walmart anywhere in the US again. I was arrested and taken to the jail to be processed and I ended up spending $75 to make bail, on top of the almost $300 groceries that they say I stole, which I never received.
(Now I hate Walmart to begin with. The only reason I was going is because it's the only thing near us, since we live in the middle of non-civilization.) If I weren't about to have a baby, I would be doing everything and anything to fight Walmart for this, but I don't have the energy or the time to fight them. So, instead, I am doing everything to make sure this goes away quickly and with as little damage as possible. The police told my husband that if I plead not guilty at the court date, I would probably get the minimum on everything especially since its my first offense. Who would have thought that my first offense is something I am being falsely accused of?

I had been hospitalized and placed in a nursing facility on March-April 2010. Therefore, I was somewhat late paying my bills. Wal-Mart billing representatives called my house, harassing my family repeatedly even after my family told them that I was ill. I had paid my bill on-time for years. It got to the point where my sister had to bring my cell phone to the nursing for me, the call only to be treated as if I was no-one. My past amount due was $37.00. Wal-Mart that wasn't fair. I have closed my account and I will never shop in your store or online.
By the way, I made my past due payment tonight. As of now, I am disabled and can't leave my home.

This is my question. How can a person be denied a $500 credit card with this bank, the same person has a $51,000 in savings in the bank? Yes, $51,000.00 Chase bank. This is **/ignorant and arrogant on the business of this bank and the credit manager of GE Money Bank. Due to the fact on your part, now I have a negative/note on my credit because every time any bank do a negative report, it shows.
If you do not want to give credit and check for more information on the person applying for credit, my suggestion is to close the bank and stop ruining other people's credit. This really **, but it's okay because from on, if anybody asks me to apply for credit in Walmart or if any other person asks me, I will tell how ** this bank is when it comes to credit cards.

I recently received my monthly credit card statement and was surprised to find that I was being charged a finance charge and a late fee for January's statement. I knew I had wrote out a check 1/15/10 and sent in my payment, so right away I knew there was a problem. The statement listed $0.00 for last payment so I went to my banking files and sure enough 1/19/10 on my bank statement check was electronically converted and cashed by Walmart. When I called customer service and explained the mistake, I was told to send a copy of the cancelled check to Walmart Research Roswell, GA. When I explained there was no cancelled check because Walmart converted my check to electronic payment, I was informed that I had to go to my bank and get forms from them to prove I made payment. I commute to work 90 miles roundtrip each day and work a ten-hour shift each day. My bank is not opened on weekends so I have to miss work during the week to visit my bank. This is a great inconvenience for a proven good customer with long history of good credit, shopping at Walmart.
Walmart's mistake of crediting someone else's account with my payment suddenly caused me distress and to miss work at my job. First of all, where is the hard copy record of my check that Walmart converted? That would have been proof enough that I made payment. Why did Walmart's Customer Service Department first gave me the wrong department to help me with my claim? Thank God I called back again and was shocked to learn that I was given the wrong address to send my claim to (Walmart Research) in Roswell, GA. Instead the correct address in El Paso, TX. (Walmart Missing Payments Department). This whole problem wouldn't exist if Walmart kept record/microfilm of the hard copy check with my address and name clear as a bell. Now I have to miss work at my job because Walmart didn't do their job. Their payment processing procedure does not protect their customers. In fact, there is a big flaw if Walmart's mistakes become their customers' problems. I am seriously contemplating canceling my account over the whole way this issue has been handled. I asked them again, "Where is the copy of my check that was written on 1/15/10 and electronically converted and deposited by Walmart on 1/19/10?"

Due to unrelated scam I was taken in by, my credit scores are less than desirable. For this reason, I am having difficulty purchasing a home. I have recently dove into all options to raise my credit score and was so proud of my efforts. I paid four credit card balances down to less than 35% of the credit limit, which was done solely to improve my credit score. I tried to use my Wal-Mart credit card today and was denied. I call customer service and they said that my credit line had been decreased due to my poor credit scores.
I have been a customer for 11 years and have made all my payments on time. I pay a rate of 29.99% annually, and if I would have continued to pay the minimum monthly payment, my line would not have been decreased and they would have continued to make 29.99% interest off my balance for years to come. I was informed that I was notified in writing of this, but have not received this letter yet. I'm terribly disgusted that this is the way I'm treated after 11 years of being a customer. I want to close my account, but this too will hurt my credit score. I feel helpless and when I try to do the right things by paying off my debt, I'm only penalized further. I was told that I could contact the risk department when I received the letter.

and got a Wal Mart Discover Card. I was
rebuilding my credit from a time after
open heart surgery when I had some credit problems. They sent me a Discover card with a $2700 limit on it. I just figured some of my rebuilding had kicked in. I make $38,000 a year, own a home and bought a new car in Sept. plus some other accounts. All these are in A-1 standing,no late payments, and my credit score was fairly good when i bought my car through Nissan. When I got my Wal Mart Discover card, I used it to catch up on some things I needed. The min. payment was at my highest balance ($2300) was $62.oo a month. From the time I got this card since I'd used it alot, I paid $200 or
more a month on it.
Last month I had anavailably of $455 on it, then this week
I sent another payment(12/15) of $225.00 in. My due date is around the
4th of each month, so I don't have a payment due until 1/4/09. This would have given me $680 available on it of
which I'd planned to use $500.00 for
Christmas, then pay on it like usual until around June before I used it again. I've never had a late payment, or over the limit fee, which I've never
gone over my $2700. I was shocked last
night when I went on line to check the
balance. They had dropped my limit to
$1000. A drop of $1700.
All my Available balance was gone and they now show me over limit $1385 and wantme to pay this. I will not, when I've paid $200 a month every time, and since being over limit is not my fault.
I have no idea why they would do this, nothing has changed on my credit, nothing is behind, in fact I have one
loan that is paid up thru April 09 with
a bank. My payment history with Wal Mart Discover should speak for itself.
now I have stopped payment on this early payment because now I need it for Christmas. I will resend another check before 1/4/09. If they insist on
doing this, then what can I do if they
report on my credit I'm over limit? Can I do anything about this. I know the country is in a mess, I'm not. I have a good job, I've been here 11 years, make good money and having no
problems making my payments. I have nothing behind. I don't intend to put myself in a bind simply because someone made a bad decision. I'm sure there are others in alot worse shape. I'm furious over this. What can I do? I've had a high balance for many months
and have paid this $200 well before the due date so I don't understand why
they would do this to me a week before
Christmas. It seems they let it ride until my balance got high, then dropped
my limit to make me over limit so they
could charge me overlimit fees to hurt
my credit and get even more money out of me. How can they do this. Should they at least give you some warning early on so you won't get the balance that high if they wanted to drop the limit? Why such a drastic drop $1700 on someone who had no late fees, paid before the due date and paid triple the mim. payment. This doesn't make any sense to me. What can I do? I wonder if they've done this to alot of
people or if they are picking on me and why, when I feel I've handled this
account very good.

About a month ago I received a letter in the mail from Wal Mart. It was about my credit card that I have with them. I work early in the mornings and stay tired alot, so I must have misread the letter at first. The letter was saying something about my credit limit. First of all, my Wal Mart credit card is the ONLY credit card that I have or have ever had. When I received this letter and read that it was about my credit limit I assumed that it was a good letter and that they were raising my credit limit.
Part of the reason I assumed this was because my mother told me that she had received the same type of letter and that they actually did raise her credit limit. Also my reasoning for assuming the letter was a good thing was because I have had this credit card for a number of years and have enjoyed having it. When I say that I have enjoyed having it I don't mean I enjoyed it because I could run up big bills and not pay them like some people will do. I mean that it was nice when I was low on money that I could have the card to help me out. I might add that I am a handicapped person, although I am not your typical handicapped person. I am a handicapped person who goes to work everyday, lives by myself, and does the best I can to make it on my own and make an honest living. That is not always easy, which was part of the reason I liked having the credit card.
Anyway, I assumed from the first letter that I got that my credit limit had been raised. The reasons that I assumed that was because I have NEVER let myself charge even $200 at a time. I have ALWAYS kept it under that. The main reasn for this was because I pay the bill off every month when I get it, and I didn't want to have to come up with over $200 to pay out of my check, because I don't make a lot at my job. Also I have NEVER been late on making my payments on my credit card. So WHY IN THE WORLD would they lower a credit limit on somebody that tried to keep the amount charged as low as possible, had only one credit card to start with, and paid the full amount every time the bill came due?????
I wish I had never seen their credit card and would like to tell them what they could do with it, but like I said I actually need the card even though I will hardly be able to use it at all now. I was in a Wal Mart store the other day and had thought there was not a problem because I thought they would not have had a reason to lower the credit limit. I had not charged anything at all in a long time, so I thought I would put the things I had gotten at that time on my card. The amount only came to $45 and I could not even charge that amount. That was when I found out that they had actually lowered my credit limit rather than raising it. It was extremely embarrassing to be standing in the store and to be told that you can't even charge $45 on a credit card. I don't know who makes the decisions to do this to people, but they need to change the person that does this. How can this be done to me when I have always paid the card off in full each month and have never been late on it???? I know there are people out there that run up HUGE amounts on credit cards and they have multiple cards to do that with, and they never pay them off and they don't care. Makes me wonder if their credit limits were raised at the same time mine was being lowered!!!!!
The letter I received said something about collection acounts and delinquent trades in the last 12 months. I was trying to think of any trouble I would have had in this area. A few years ago I got sick and had to call an ambulance because I could not even walk to the car to get myself to a dr. I rode in an ambulance, but they did not do a thing for me, just drove me to the hospital. Afterwards, I received a bill for $140.00 I think it was. My mother saw the bill and was outraged since they had not done one thing in the ambulance to help me get better, all they did was drive me to the hospital. She was telling me I should only pay them $10 a month til I got it paid off and she was calling around trying to get them not to bill me for this since I don't make much at my job. But that was her, not me. If it had been me I would have just paid the bill and been done with it. Of course anybody that sends someone a bill wants their money and they want it all at one time. My only guess is that they may have turned me in to a collection agency, but even if they did so, and someone with GE and Wal Mart have checked credit reports and have done this to me as a result of that, that was my mother telling me to only pay $10 a month, not me. She is always telling me to do that especially with doctor bills, and I did as she said simply because if I don't do things her way sometimes I hear it from her.
On occasion I did pay them more than $10 a month, and believe me, she let me have it each time I did. But in any case, whoever did the checking on me and found this information out should have researched a little further. If they had done so they would have also discovered that I did eventually pay the bill off in full. The whole time I was paying on that bill collection agencies were calling and threatening me and I was arguing with them, all because my mother was telling me to!!! And as a result the only credit card I have has been lowered on the credit limit. I DO NOT feel that this is fair and I wish I had never heard of a Wal Mart credit card if this is the way they treat people who are just trying to do the best they can. I also do not feel that my doctor bill that I was slow in paying has ANYTHING to do with myWal Mart credit card.
Whoever made the decision to do this should know what its like to be a handicapped person and what its like to try to do the best you can with circumstances like that. They should have looked at it that I have kept the amount on the card low, have paid the amount in full each month, and have never been late on paying it. That is all that should matter, not a mistake I made in listening to my mother too much and letting her tell me what to do when I am an adult. The letter that I received says "thank you for being a valued Wal Mart customer" and that is simply a joke. If this is how they treat a "valued customer" I'd hate to see how they treat one that runs up huge amounts of bills and never pays them and never gives it a second thought!!!!!!

Wal-Mart Supercenter Store #397, Mcallen, TX 78503. On 11/09/08 at approximately 9:00 p.m., I tried to use a visa card which the machine accepted, but the clerk asked for I.D., (the card was properly issued, and is signed) and I offered to sign any receipts twice. She did not give me my card back at that time, but asked for a manager / managers. I talked to two other uniformed and one plain clothed manager who said that it was store policy (to refuse a credit card without additional I.D.), even after I explained the visa merchant policy. They canceled the sale - refusing to sell me approx. $30.00 of items for not showing an I.D. in violation of their contract with 'visa' *.
The manager even asked me some inappropriate questions such as where do you live, and why do you drive a car with mexican plates; I asked - what is your name / which he refused to give me. This Walmart suffers from borderitis (10 miles north of Mexico), and consistently gives poor service. 1) most of the staff is in the back, and the employees will often either not answer, or can't answer a question, ...even the greeters stare at you. Once, I was double charged for several items, and it took 30 minutes for a manager to come to the help desk in order to give a refund - no apology; another time, the cashier placed a bag, on the floor, rather than in the cart (pay for twenty, receive nineteen), More than once, the cashier has had to ask for instructions, as how to price match items. There are other walmarts, several miles away, that treat their customers with dignity though. Sadly - this may be the sorriest walmart in the walmart empire.

We bought a Walmart Debit/Visa Card, but it is the first time and last as well, since we had so many difficulties getting it activated its asked for so many requirements. We were never told we had to fax the ID we showed when we bought it wich no one asked us for any king of ID. That and also the worst of all is that we can't use the card they said it is active but it declines everytime we try using it the only time it went through was to PAY them to use their own customer service, because there is a $2 fee for speaking with them to fix their own mess. And to get a refund for our own monye, which we paid cash for, they are charging us as well.
We have to wait to get the refund for our money which is going to be alot less due to them charging us for everything, we haven't even been able to use the card for the purpose we needed it for and still we are getting less money back due to all their own charges.
