    I had a relay go bad in my control box for the pool equipment. The guy from Competition showed up on time. Competition called promptly after the service request was originally reported to American Home Shield. They had a pretty good window that I was able to work into my schedule. They took care of the work. The guy gave me some education and taught me what I was looking at. So, it's very helpful and I really enjoyed their work.

    I've also made a claim against my air conditioning, and I just found out that American Home Shield caps refrigerant for air conditioning units at $10 a pound. On the new refrigerants, the refrigerants are much higher than that. So, I'm going to be the one coming out of pocket $60 to $100 per pound on units that have five or six pounds on them. I had used it multiple times on this property and I'm enjoying the overall experience.

    I would 100% recommend American Home Shield’s service. The air conditioning went out just out of the blue. The guy who came found out it was only the thermostat, but he was Johnny-on-the-spot. He was out here as soon as he could be. He was so professional and nice. He not only replaced the thermostat, he went out and checked the Freon in the system and made sure it was good. He checked the filter, too.

    We called American Home Shield and reported our air conditioner that quit working. They processed the claim and gave us the name of the company. They said, "This is the person's name. They'll notify you in one business day. But if you want to call him, you can call him,” which we did. The tech asked where we live. We told him we live in Clovis. He said, "I'm going to be in Clovis tomorrow. I will come out tomorrow between 12 and 4 o'clock.” He called us at 11:00, came out and within an hour or less, had climbed up on the roof and determined that something had burned out or broken. He was gone for about half an hour then came back with a part and fixed it. He was very prompt and we were very pleased. It was a hot day, so we were very grateful he got out when he did and got it fixed.

    We were in extreme heatwave in the Northwest. So, I cannot blame AHS that it took about 12 days for someone to come out from the time of the request for service for the AC. And the quality of repair work by Clean Air was topnotch. It couldn’t be beat. The only thing is it is difficult to say no when you've had a bad experience with a company and AHS wants to force you to work with them again. Clean Air told me that I could request them. But I have not had that experience working with American Home Shield where they'll let you not work with someone you don't want to.

    Electrical-wise, the techs that came out recently did an all right job. The only disappointment I had was, I have a diaper pail that has a bag in for my cat litter. I had noticed that they had thrown an old receptacle that they replaced into that instead of taking it with them and disposing of it the correct way. I also had plumbers out here last week. I had a leak coming from the bathroom up on the third floor into the kitchen. Supposedly, they fixed that. But the problem is I got a big bubble in the one area that it was coming down, and then there's another site where they cut out drywall. No one from AHS called me to get that repaired.

    My AC unit was not working at all and it had gone out a few times. So, this wasn't the first or second time someone had to come out to look at it. Submitting a claim to American Home Shield was simple with the automated system and the wait time has gotten better if you have to speak to someone. But I still wasn’t clear on what exactly I had to pay for out of pocket. I thought that what the contractor had to do was included and it was not. So, I had a big out-of-pocket expense. I would recommend people to shop around and get as much information as you can as far as your out-of-pocket expenses. Because AHS replaced the unit and paid for the unit and the labor but I had over $1,900 out of pocket that I had to pay still, along with you having to pay your $100 for people to come out. And that's what I have to check. Because they were supposed to reimburse me for the $100 because this is the third time somebody came out.

    My AC wasn't cooling. The tech replaced the capacitor. I liked that it was a very fast response. We also had a power outage so that put the appointment back a day. Even so, he was really good. I wish AHS would give me a choice to select who is going to repair my problem. I don't really know who's going to be my repairman until the claim happens. Also, my deductible cost me $125 and I thought I had a $75 deductible.

    I did this claim over the phone 'cause I couldn't wait four days without AC as hot as it was. If it was going to be a long wait, I was just gonna hire somebody to fix the AC. But it turned out to be a fast claim so I didn't have to cancel it. I found out online that there is a spot that if I schedule the claim and my unit starts working again, I can cancel the appointment.

    Every time I've called AHS, their service had been fantastic. They'd get somebody up there to take care of stuff and I'd have no problems with it. And if there was a problem, I'd call back and then have it redone again. Recently, the microwave went out and we submitted a claim. They have ordered it and the techs had to put it in this morning.

    The motor in the AC unit wasn’t working. It would come on but wouldn’t cool at all. The repairman changed the motor on the fan, cleaned it up thoroughly and flushed something out of it. He explained why it went out. He was quick and every time he came in, he put his booties on. American Home Shield has been good except the first time, I didn't know about the freon part. They came out and fixed the unit but I had to pay the thing twice for the same problem. That’s why I didn’t want Island Breeze because they came out and did fix it a little bit but then I had to do another service call. AHS tried to give me Island Breeze again but I didn’t want them.

    The condenser in the attic was leaking and it came through the kitchen ceiling and the bathroom ceiling. It made a mess. I had two guys from Greenway Home Services come out. The first one said the drain tube was plugged. That lasted two days and it started leaking again. Then, the guy who came out today said the condenser in the attic is tilted. But one guy can’t do it because it’s heavy so they have to come back and have it level. The people that AHS has sent out to do work seemed pleasant and nice and, except for this claim, they usually fix the issue on the first try.

    We actually had a gas leak. And that night we realized that, we called Atmos. It was in the middle of the night so we had to get them to come turn it off. And then they said that we would need to get a plumber because they don't go inside, which I thought they would because they're the gas company, which is not. I called American Home Shield Thursday. And then the contractor was out on Friday. They just pretty much kept to themselves but still told us what they were doing. And they just determined that there was still a leak, but they couldn't find it because it was inside the walls. So, we would need a company that specializes in gas leaks to come out to find it. They called me yesterday, so they are coming this afternoon. They would let me know when they are gonna come out. I'm already stressing out the whole situation. So, being able to call American Home Shield, having them find a company for me to come out, takes a bit off me.

    We re-up with AHS every year. There's no other place I would go to. The customer service is awesome and everybody they've ever sent out has been epic. It's been a really good experience for us. The hot water heater went out completely. The tech from A+ Heating Cooling & Plumbing went above and beyond. He was having a really busy day and he still came well after closing hours. It was 9:00 when he got here and he fixed it all up for me. Also, he brought everything that he could possibly need. There was no fixing the water heater so he replaced it.

    Everything's lovely right now with AHS. After investigation, both of the heating elements and the thermostats went bad in the water heater. The techs replaced the thermostat and the heating elements in both, the top and the bottom. They had the parts available and were very professional in what they did. The job was quick, very little interruption to my household, and to pay just only a $100 deductible was a whole lot better than $1,200. I would tell others if at all possible to get AHS because the others that I've investigated do not go to the extent. AHS does.

When the AC wouldn't turn on, the tech came out and he looked at it. I told him that the fan would kick on, but the compressor wouldn't. He looked at it and it was a capacitor.     I like the fact that when something breaks, I can call AHS and they send somebody out to take care of it. Recently, the tech that came out for our dishwasher was great. He was the same guy both times. The first time, he came and diagnosed it, and then they had to order the part. The part was in pretty fast. So, he came back out, repaired it and explained everything to me. Everything’s been great since the repair.

    I've had three call-outs so far. The first one went well and the AC was taken care of. The last one was electrical and it turned out being relatively simple. The one in the middle was with the water temperature and pressure. In the master shower area, initially, I would get quick, hot water with good pressure. Now, I have to wait a minimum of 10 minutes to get any hot water at all. On top of that, the water pressure is poor. The individual that was sent out thought the problem was pre-existing. I got a call from American Home Shield saying that because of that, it wouldn't be covered.

    Then, AHS said they would have somebody else come out. I told them that if it's just pre-existing versus not pre-existing, I don't know if it really matters if they send something out. All that really matters is what they define as preexisting. I'm not too happy with this claim in the middle because I have not heard back and the issue still has not been fixed. The technicians have been pretty quick and punctual with the timeframe. But AHS should close the loop on the second claim and let me know what's going on pretty quickly.

    We didn't have all the keys when we got here and the locksmith did some work around, took the extra effort, and made it happen. We were happy with him. The goal was to have all the locks the same, and that's what happened. They did the front door, the back door, the shed, and the garage. When he was done, we had one key that did all of them so we're not like carrying around four keys. That was much more convenient.

But it was damaged too much and it didn't hold, and so I contacted the people back. It was on the weekend. We had to wait until Monday but he came out and took care of it right away.     Home Shield was supposed to send me a brochure or copy of a contract and I haven't gotten anything yet. I had to ask my son what to call and how to call and stuff. Also, I thought they're 24-hour and 7 days a week but if something breaks down on a Saturday, I have to wait two or three days to get it fixed and I don't like that. I had an AC issue that happened on a Sunday and I thought they would somebody out that evening. But the contractor, Mike's Clean Air, called me early Monday morning and they came out that afternoon. I was just kind of disappointed because I had to sleep in hot weather. And the tech couldn't fix the issue that same day.

    There was a code that had been coming up on my oven. The last guy that came out said that there was a motherboard that's on the front of it. He said that that panel had to be replaced. With the age of the stove, he said he would almost recommend replacing it because it was gonna keep having problems. I told him I needed it fixed then 'cause I was selling the house that day. This guy was a senior tech that knew more and he said the other guy missed it. But AHS has fixed my sink, my lights, and different things. They also replaced my hot water heater and a washer a while back. But I kept asking the different people that I talked to about the dryer, "Can I get coverage on just my washer-dryer while I'm renting?" Nobody has told me whether you can get the policy just for the washer-dryer.

    I called American Home Shield and told them I needed to reset the water heater every day. When water gets heated too much, it has to reset because of safety issues. They sent technician on site and looked at it. The only response I got back from American Home Shield was we needed a second confirmation. Everything is perfectly fine with the interaction, the customer care and the technician. We know things are not normal because of covid. It's hard to find people and set an appointment. The plan works pretty good but everybody has to be clear from their end what the problem is and what are the next steps.

    Having a home warranty reduces concern about major bills if something goes wrong. I recently submitted a claim for my Samsung refrigerator. It's a notorious problem with their design of the defrosting mechanism inside the refrigerator. It clogs up with ice because a little metal tab doesn't do the job it's supposed to. The coil freezes up and creates an ice dam where it's supposed to be dripping down into a tray. The tech American Home Shield sent knew what to do, did it very quickly and solved the problem.

    I was disappointed with AHS at one point. In July, I submitted a claim, and they told me, “It's gonna take two to three weeks before somebody looks at your AC problem.” And I said, "Wait a minute. I'm frying here in the house. And you're asking me to wait three weeks?". They said, "Well, that's the only thing we can do." I wasn't happy so I got somebody on my own. I paid from my own pocket for that. Also, every time I submit something, they say that it's not covered in my policy and the rep cannot tell me anything until somebody diagnoses my issue and finds out what's the problem. Other than that, my second experience was very good. They did not wait that long to send somebody. The tech described the problem and he said he will submit it. He's waiting for American Home Shield's approval on that. He provided excellent service. He was a professional guy.

    American Home Shield's service, getting stuff worked on, and getting things looked at have been really spectacular. But the incidentals of things that are mandatory to do a repair should be covered as well as the labor and the main components. That totaled up to be 1,800 for me out of pocket to get the air conditioning unit fixed. I'm not very happy about that. I'm a disabled vet and that took nearly all of my savings that I had built up.

    The other thing is American Home Shield is utilizing people for customer service that have absolutely no clue as to what's going on, except for reading off of the paperwork that's given to them to answer a question. I almost have to demand that they call the vendor to get some answers. When customer service does call, they ask the wrong questions. I would have to go back after the phone call and correct everything that they were supposed to ask with the vendor myself.

    When they can answer a question, they try to prolong my agony and almost refuse to escalate it up to a manager as I asked them to. Because they don't understand the question, they don't understand what I'm asking. Even though I explain it to them six times, they keep reverting back to, "This is what the installer says that you need to have. And it's gonna cost this much money," instead of, "You need to call the vendor and find out what the cost is gonna be for this because they made a mistake and they shouldn't be charging you an additional 500 or $600."

    A lot of times, you can't even understand the calls. With one call I had, I heard chickens in the background. In another one, I heard roosters crowing in the morning when the rep trying to talk and there were kids in the background. That was very unprofessional for a company that's as large as American Home Shield. Customer service speaks very broken English and they don't understand simple questions. I also never got a call back from a manager at stateside.

    Overall, American Home Shield has been very effective in getting the repairs done. There have been some challenges in trying to make sure that we get the proper repair guy to be able to come out. But in the past three times, there has not been an issue at all. The washing machine that we have is manufactured by Bosch, and it's kind of a higher-end machine. Among the people in this area that are employed by American Home Shield to work on washing machines, there are only two companies that work on them. We found that out when they sent their first technician to come by, and he was unable to do anything. So, we've had to be very specific about letting them know that it’s the Sears repair person and the repair company that has the qualified technicians to repair the Bosch. Once we were able to get that information across they were able to schedule Sears to come.

    The AC would kick on for a maximum of 45 seconds, and then it would shut off for 30 minutes. And would repeat this cycle indefinitely. During the day, it was impossible to keep the house under 78 degrees. But then at night, it would drop a little bit if it got colder out. It turns out that there was a clog in the system. The interaction with the tech that AHS sent was a pleasant one. He was a very pleasant person to talk to. He was very professional. He even showed me how to unclog the system so I could do it myself next time. 'Cause it wasn't a big thing, it was something that would happen every few years anyway. We haven't had any issues with the AC since. It's been flying colors.

    We had a refrigerator leak, and the guy that came out through American Home Shield got us up and running very quickly. When I was told I was going to pay 75 bucks, that sounded like a scam. I don't know anything about owning a home but every time a guy came to my apartment to do something under the sink or with the toilet, it was always certainly over $100 every time. I said, "The 75 bucks, it’s just fake. That means they’re gonna come out and that's what you're paying for 75 bucks is they're gonna come out and talk to you. And then that's the beginning of a process. Then the next visit is what costs the real money.” But this was $75. The guy came out and he fixed the thing.

    The guy couldn't get hot water to do some part of his fixing. He said, "Oh, you know what? I don't think you guys turned on your hot water heater yet. It's okay. I know how to do this stuff." So, he turned on my hot water heater. He went, "You probably don't want this. You probably want that. This is good." I was like, "I don't know what the hell you're talking about. But I will blow out my house if I tried to do what you're doing.” He's a nice guy. He was talking about the hike behind my house. He said, "There's a beautiful hike here." We started talking about Stephen King because he said there's a thing up there that looks like Pet Sematary. It was fun. It was like who the hell talks to their repairman about novels? It was really enjoyable. I walked away with a running refrigerator and my hot water whatever thing was functioning now, which it wasn't before. He did a great job. I'm very happy with the whole experience.

    RMB came out and put a new garage door opener. This claim with American Home Shield was a walk in the park. My previous one was a nightmare. It was for an oven wall combination, and they ended up buying me out. I sent in all the information. The offshore customer service was a joke. They told me several times the check was on the way. I finally called the people that did the paperwork on doing the cash out. I'm not prejudice. I know why they offshore to do stuff but I never got a straight answer from them. The people at the appliance center were all very forthcoming and truthful.

    AHS finally did send a check. It was the wrong amount, after they'd been expressively told what the amount was. My receipts justified that. It took me about 65 days and 9 hours on the phone to finally get paid. It was a nightmare. This latest claim was really easy and a good experience. There are terrible stuff about Home Shield, yet they're still rated one of the more highly ones. So, that tells me all the other ones are even worse.

    The air conditioner wasn’t blowing any air. Frog Pro Services was excellent. The man who came out explained what he was doing. He checked and made sure everything was in working condition and explained to me that they needed to get things done on time. Even the owner of the company called me just to follow up. He said, “I just want to check and make sure that you were satisfied and that everything got covered.” I said, “Yes. Thank you. I appreciate you.”

    However, it was a jerk that came for my shower. He didn't even fix it. I'm still pissed about that because they charged me a service fee that I still haven't gotten back. He lied and said somebody came out in Central Ohio Maintenance. They were coming out to fix whatever the converter is in the wall. The guy would have had to put on a whole new shower thing because the knob that turns it on broke off. He also told American Home Shield that we had a family friend try to fix it and took pieces with him. But there were no pieces missing. It was cracked and it just broke completely in half. That was why AHS denied the claim and we had to pay out of pocket for that.

    He didn't even have the decency. He said, “I'm going to order that part and get back with you.” Then American Home Shield didn't even call us to follow up to say, “Hey, your claim is being denied because the contractor said, X, Y and Z.” They didn't even follow up with us. Right now, with the way that I feel about my shower and having to come out of pocket about $450, I'm very dissatisfied. That was ridiculous. If I paid for a home warranty, I shouldn't have had to come out of pocket like that.

    The icemaker controller was making ice even after I cut the control switch off. American Home Shield dispatched Perez Appliance Repair. The tech was very courteous and very professional. He checked out the unit and told us what part he needed. He reinstalled a computer panel that was causing a problem and the icemaker seems to be doing well. Sometimes, just calling people in right away may cost a lot out of the pocket and AHS covers as far as securing the work needed to be done. It's a monthly fee to cover and have you insured at all times and we recommend that to all our friends.

    I had a leak. Then, I have double sinks and neither stopper was working. AHS sent out the plumbers who repaired that and stopped the leak. So they did a really good job. In a way, they did a little bit more for me than they were going to be paid for and I really appreciated that. But initially, AHS was going to send someone out that didn't have a real good Better Business Bureau report. So, I asked them not to send that person and to send the people that came since their credit bureau report was really good.

    I also had a washer issue going on where the techs had to order different parts and come back different times, but they got it done and they just kept coming until everything was completed. Aside from that, whenever I had claims, AHS had been prompt and they'd let me know who was coming. I would recommend them and I redid my subscription with them because the things that I've had done cost more than what I would have paid for the yearly maintenance fee.

    If we call, American Home Shield will tell us who is gonna be the service company. They also provide us the phone number, so if we don't hear back from that company, then we can call them ourselves. Recently, we requested for service and the repair company called us ahead to see what the problem was. They asked us to take a picture, so that they knew that they would come with the part instead of coming, checking out the issue and then having to come back another day with the part, which some people do. This repair company was very good. They came with the part and it was fixed immediately. It was the housing in the pool heater. We have the very nice package where we have to pay extra, but we get a lot of things covered. Some things won't be covered, and that's what people need to really check on the fine details of what their policy says.

    The dryer was banging and the contractor looked at it. The drum had cracked and they ordered another one. The guy came to put it in and noticed that the drum that they had just ordered had a dent in it. So, they had to reorder it and they did it the following week. Everything is working great now. I like the claim processes that goes on with American Home Shield although there are times where it could be a little bit better. They should call and follow-up. That didn’t happen a couple of times.     I had an issue with the water heater and it happened on a weekend. First, American Home Shield told me someone was going to come. It turned out that they weren't going to. Then, they sent someone out who said that there was no problem with the water heater. I believed the water heater needed new elements Finally someone took care of it. He said the backup line was clogged up. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that there's not going to be another issue because the tech that came said he had never seen a backup the way it happened with our unit. When he unclogged it, he got totally wet.

    This past weekend, I had lunch with another individual who has American Home Shield and their refrigeration unit went out. They needed a new one. She said that they've had other problems taken care of but Home Shield refuses to replace their refrigeration unit. It's $6,000 and Home Shield only gave them a credit of 2,000. My warranty says that if there's a unit that goes out, it will be replaced. I'm happy with AHS.

    I was a little concerned at first when I realized that my refrigerator couldn't be rehabilitated. I called to report that and the person who answered the phone spoke such poor English that I was not able to understand what she asked me. When I finished with that call, I felt upset and helpless. However, Wright Appliance in Mineral Wells, Texas called me and said that they spoke with American Home Shield and that they were working on a resolution for my issue and getting me a replacement. I felt better.

    A few days later, I received a communication asking me how I wanted to finish up the deal, whether I wanted to get the replacement that they chose or if I wanted to get a gift certificate or a check for the amount that they had determined. I thought they were treating me fairly. But there wasn't anything that showed me what amount of money they were willing to pay. I went on to the next step after that, saying I chose to check. It showed the amount and I decided that that was a very fair amount. Overall, aside from the experience I had with the first woman I had contact with, it has been a satisfactory experience. AHS had Wright Appliance call me and my experience with them has been very satisfactory. I would recommend them. They've chosen wisely in getting Wright Appliance to be their repair representative.

    The oven fan was making a noise and needed to be replaced. CK Appliance came out and they ordered it through American Home Shield. At the beginning of August, it was available, then it was pushed out to the middle of September. Another thing was an issue with my stovetop. One of the burners wasn't igniting and CK Appliance came out. They thought it was one piece and they ordered that and it came in a week. They came back and fixed it and it turned out it needed an additional part. They submitted that to American Home Shield and it took American Home Shield a week and a half to even submit the part for ordering.

    I kept calling them asking what was going on and customer service said they would get back to me in 24 hours. But no one ever got back to me and I never heard anything. I found out two weeks later that the part didn't exist anymore. It wasn't available so they were going to offer me money to replace the stovetop and said I’d get an email. I never got that email and I still haven't gotten that email. They dragged it out so long that I couldn't even get it replaced. What made it worse is that I'm moving. I ended up having to give the people who were buying my home a credit rather than just getting those fixed and replaced through my American Home Shield policy.

    Up until this, I was always okay with American Home Shield. They always send people out to do the service. But they really don't help you. They replaced my microwave, which was not the easiest product process. They just said, “Here's money. Go find your own product.” When you sign up, everyone's all great in the sales department. But when you call customer service, everything is a call center so they generally don't have the resources. They're doing the best they can with what they're being told. But you have to speak to a supervisor and there's not a supervisor. You just can't get the information.

    I called American Home Shield and I spoke to an agent. They sent a lot of information. They sent an email and a text. The tech came out because the thermostat was saying 74, but it was 82 degrees. But the dude didn't explain what he was doing or what the problem may be. On top of that, I work at night, so I had to go to work. He was still here when I went to work. He did the thermostat and checked the unit outside. He checked the front and downstairs. He did a lot. He said he was doing something to the control and that was it. He did what he could and he just left. I'm hot as hell. Make sure that the tech communicates with you.

    I have a two-story house and I have one toilet at the top and one at the bottom. A company came and they checked the toilet in the bottom that was leaking. They said they did whatever they could but couldn't figure out how it leaked. I called Home Shield and told them that I found out how the leaks happened. They said that when a Rooter guy comes, I was to let him know how the bottom one was leaking. The Rooter guy told me he would try to do the best he could to take a quick look at this toilet. He looked at the bottom toilet and removed it. He replaced the old one and secured it more against the wall so there is no more leak. He then went upstairs and took care of the toilet there that also had a lot of issues with leaks. He took care of both my toilets one time and right now, everything’s functioning great.

    Home Shield is great but they have some concerns. If something looks slightly damaged, they try to fix them first. If they can't fix them then they will replace them. But there are some things they do not replace. I also wish Home Shield has some satellite offices somewhere around the area, so they will be familiar with who a good contractor and a bad contractor is. Another complaint I have about Home Shield is when I went on the email, there was no phone number. I like calling Home Shield and placing my service order. I had to go all the way to the end of email and found the number. Thank goodness I can call them direct.

    Home Shield can say, "Do it by email, which is a lot quicker," or “Call this toll-free number so and so, so you could place your service orders out." That would get more requests that way because there are a lot of seniors like me who do not like to be looking through the computer device. Other than that, I tell people about Home Shield and the houses that have them. I have some have good expenses here but I have no problem with my home warranty because I trust them and that's why I have them on my house.

    Our house has three air conditioning units, and there was a 5-ton that wasn't working. American Home Shield sent out Air Dynasty and they were professional. The initial defect in the unit they said was the evaporator coil was no longer working, and AHS would cover that. The unit's five years old and they said they had to bring it to code. By the time that was done, it was gonna be $2,300 then there was a long conversation about replacing the condenser unit as well. The prices that Air Dynasty was first quoting were exorbitant and I ended up paying and getting a new unit from them. I got frustrated. It had been two weeks since we had air conditioning, and I just wanted it done.

    I have no idea what American Home Shield is paying in this, and Air Dynasty said, "We would not give you this new unit for this price if you weren't working through American Home Shield." I have no way of corroborating that though. One of the problems with these warranty companies is you don't have very much transparency of what cost they're covering. You also have no way of vetting whether or not who they send out is reputable. I've had other calls with American Home Shield for my electrical box. They come in, I pay the $70 fee, and done. For the air conditioner though, I am not convinced that there is any value.

    I've had to go through them three times now for my air conditioner. We have Puron and the per pound cost for refrigerant to buy it is six to seven times higher than what you can get if you're to source it yourself. I have no way of proving this, but I always wonder if the price is so high up, whether or not there's some type of kickback mechanism. I've dealt with three different air conditioner people now, and they've all charged either $50 or $60 per pound, where online I could get it for $9 to $10. I don't know why there's such uniform pricing in the refrigerant. These guys are supposed to be independent contractors.

    I've been pretty happy with American Home Shield so far. They had the best value for the price point and their enrollment process was simple. I had my house rekeyed, which was very easy. We also had a plumber come in, and we've had a dishwasher repairman come by. Everything has been pretty quick. The people that have come over have been professional. The only one that didn't fix it himself was the dishwasher repairman, but he found out that there was a leak. So, then I called the plumber to fix the leak. It ended up being exactly what he thought was the problem, so it worked out.

    I've had American Home Shield for years. I moved from a different city, had them there and never had a problem with them. But I had one problem out here because I moved to the country. When you're in the country, a lot of the people that are going to come give you service have to travel from an hour to an hour and a half away. Dealing with some country people, their schedule runs a little bit different. American Home Shield still finds somebody to come work on what I need, but it sometimes takes a little bit of time to get with some of the people. But the process with American Home Shield is easy enough. If I have multiple things like three plumbing items versus if it's just one item, then I get online and knock it out real fast. You can put multiple claims if it's in the same area. If it's just the garage door won't close, I don't need to call them. I can just go online and knock it out real quick.

    They're always helpful and send me something either text or email and tell me who is assigned to the claim. Most of the time, the people are good about calling within the next day or the same day. I only had one person from the country who said, "No. You can't call us. We still need to process it." A week later, they finally called me. I also learned early on not to get in and try to fix anything if you're going to call American Home Shield because if you open something up, they're not going to fix it.

    One of my sons just bought a house and I told him to use American Home Shield. Most of the time, they fix everything. I've had electrical, an AC, a garage door and appliances that went out and they all knocked it out. Sometimes one contractor comes out and says, "Here's what's wrong. We need to order the part," then a different guy comes out. The first guy that came out said, "I'd recommend you spend extra money to get it all tuned up," and when the next guy came out, he said, "No, you don't need that." I've had one try to sell me stuff we didn't need. There was one negative experience with American Home Shield out here in the country. When we first bought the house, there were several plumbing issues and on some of them, they said, "We're not going to cover that because the contractor said it was due to owner neglect." We had just bought the house, so we haven't neglected anything.

    My mom has always been able to call American Home Shield. She has dementia now so she can’t manage those things but she never had any difficulty with submitting a claim to them. They've always made it very simple for her to have someone come out, which was the whole reason we got them in the first place. AHS has been good for us. It makes things a little easier. Getting contractors in Idaho is not easy. There's not a lot of choices and when you get ahold of somebody, they're extremely booked. AHS cuts through the middleman and you get a lot of local people that you may not have thought about or had experience with. It’s been a great experience with the contractors. They’ve explained things when they’ve come out as to what they thought was the issue and explained choices. So, it's always been a positive contact.

    This policy came with the house that I purchased and when I had the problem, AHS called up right away and set up an appointment. The plumber was very professional. He got it done. This is the first incident and the first time I'm ever using a home warranty. There was a leak from the upstairs bathtub. So, PHD Mechanical came, tore up the sheetrock, got in there, found the problem, patched it up and fixed it. Now, there's a continuation on it because American Home Shield has to find someone else to come and patch up the sheetrock. AHS set it up with the company and I talked to the rep this morning and he told me to send him a picture. And I did so they know what they're looking for. The guy said that they would do a rough patch on the sheetrock but they wouldn't sand it and come back for a second one. I asked what I was supposed to do about that. That doesn't complete the job.

    The guy said that for $85, they’ll come back a second time. It has to be sanded and he said that they don’t do that. It still leaves me with having to pay for paint. Paint is different although the service should still cover that too because if you want to put it back the way it was, it should be put back the way it was. But eliminate the paint, I'm still stuck putting a second coat myself, which I'm not a professional or I have to pay $85 for him to come back for the second coat. But then, I would still have to sand it and then paint it. So, I'm not happy about that part because that doesn't complete the job. The sheetrock place is saying that the warranty does not cover that. When the guys came, the service was exactly what they said they were going to do. They spackled the hole and I have to pay to get the next spackle done and then paint. So, I'm not happy with that.

    It was day three of moving into our house when the toilet decided to run overnight. The bowl completely overfilled and caused some serious water damage in our house. So, we wanted the contractor to come out and see what was going on with the toilet. They replaced something in it and apparently, there was some blockage deep down in there and that was what caused it. So, they were able to figure it out and fix it very quickly. There were two individuals and they were very nice, professional, and efficient with getting everything situated.

    We had a rekey done and the individual that came on site was very helpful. But the person that I spoke to on the phone, not through American Home Shield but one of the contractors that they use, was miserable to deal with. He was just perhaps an older generation and confused about things. Because he emailed me by the wrong name. Or he called me, but I never had a phone call or a voicemail from him. Things like that, that just as a customer, are not very pleasant to deal with. But the biggest benefit is we feel a bit better, God forbid something's wrong with some of the stuff in the house. We bought this house thinking there was nothing wrong with it, and we were just going to move in and be able to live happily. But now, we're in a construction zone because of what happened. So, it gives us that extra peace of mind. And I'm glad that I had the opportunity to still call and upgrade our coverage after the fact, just in case something else were to happen.

    Water was leaking on my kitchen floor again. The tech said the reason that kept happening was that the air unit was unleveled. He flushed the lines out and got the water to stop leaking. This was the fifth time someone came out but no one else mentioned the unit being unleveled. Right now, I have to get somebody else to look at the unit. The tech made recommendations to American Home Shield and when a gentleman with American Home Shield called me, he said the unleveled unit wasn't something they covered. I'm not sure what the issue is this time or if in fact the other techs never noticed that the unit was not leveled. I'm in the process of redoing my floors. I don't want to ruin my new floors with the same problem later. Other than that, my claims with American Home Shield before were fine.

    The washing machine-dryer was not working. The contractor replaced the motor in the washing machine. However, it's not working at all. American Home Shield told me that they would give me a refund for the washer and dryer combo. But what they gave me costs a whole lot cheaper. I couldn't find a washer and dryer combo for that price. Other than that, the claim process is good. As long as AHS does what they say they would do, it's okay with me.

    I've had two services done in a one-week span. One was my water heater. American Home Shield replaced that. And I covered whatever the cost were to get it up to code for the state of Los Angeles. The other claim, I’m not too happy, because they denied fixing the issue. They said that they couldn't fix it because we caused the issue. But it's an issue that happens to the condenser, which is for the AC unit. Why would I want to damage my condenser? So I have to find another solution. They should try to find another solution to fixing an issue like the condenser. It's inside a cage, so how could I damage it? Maybe get a different technician that might give them a lower price. Because the technician said it would cost $8,000 to fix, which I highly doubt. Maybe the technician is not as honest as we think he is. Also, AHS should have better contact. Instead of through emails, maybe a phone call to tell me why they are gonna deny it. And maybe offer a second opinion.

    I had a problem with my garage door opener. The company that came told me that the whole unit had to be replaced and I had to pay an additional $350 to replace it. I called American Home Shield and they told me that the claim was actually denied for faulty equipment instead of wear and tear. I explained to them that I'm not sure how it could be faulty after it's been working for 24 years. They agreed to send another company out to my house. So, I had to pay for another service fee. That company fixed it with no problem within 15 minutes.

    AHS could get better vendors that can come out right away. A lot of times, it takes a week before they can come out. Once they come out and they say, “Well, we need to order parts”, they have to make another appointment to come back out again. It's frustrating. I had a couple of times where I had problems with my water heater and I ended up replacing it myself because I can't be without hot water for that long.

    Every one of the contractors AHS has sent out has been good. They're real efficient and good problem solvers and they don't take very long to fix the problem, except for this one company that came out for the AC. They replaced the compressor and we had to pay $500 for the Freon plus the $100 deductible. Then, the next year, the AC went bad again and it turned out that the first company put the wrong compressor in. The right compressor had to be put in and we had to pay another $500 for the Freon. But we shouldn't have to pay the Freon another time. It wasn't our fault that that company put in the wrong compressor. But the contractor we recently had was Ideal Services and I specifically asked for them. They're good and they came out within a day.

    For our recent claim with AHS, the dishwasher stopped working in the middle of a cycle and it didn't sound good. The tech could have come out the same day. He called that afternoon after I submitted the request. We just weren't home. So, he came the next morning. However, there was nothing he could do. He said it wasn't financially smart to fix. It would probably cost way more to fix it than it would to buy a new one 'cause the motor was seized. Then, there was something else that he said he would have to repair as well. He said by the time he does that, it'll be a new dishwasher. It was also so old, he couldn't get parts for it. He just said he would submit that and then we would have to go to the next step.

    We logged in to our account online Monday morning to see if there was any update but it just said that our original request was closed. So, I called and the rep said it wasn't really closed, it's just he had come out and was done with that visit and they were waiting supposedly for the formal diagnosis from the Optimum Appliance Repair guy. Then, she said we were supposed to get an email.

    There was nowhere on the online account on our account with the original request that said, "Here's the next step, we're waiting." It didn't have any status that could have just said, "Waiting for the diagnosis." We haven't been contacted by them since Friday to tell us what the next step is, or you can't just go on there and see what the next step is. So, I wasn't overjoyed because I still don't have a dishwasher.

    The AC wouldn't go any lower than 82 degrees. The tech put a new switch upstairs in the attic where the machine is as the switch that was on there was not working right. Now everything seems to go better. His name was Brian and he was very friendly. He knew what he was doing and when I asked him questions, it wasn't a problem as he answered them very nicely. Other than that, submitting the claim with AHS was very easy. I went online, put in “I had a problem,” then I received a phone call and someone made an appointment for the next day. So, I'm very happy with them.

    We had the contractor before and they fixed my washer and one other item. We’ve been very happy with the service. But the last claim was frustrating. The air conditioner broke down in early June and we were put on a waiting list. We tried to find independently on our own and couldn't, so we stayed on the waiting list. I didn't get the email from American Home Shield saying they found someone till I was on my vacation in July. So, when I finally got back from my vacation, I contacted them and they finally contacted me, and we got this started.

    The person who worked on the air conditioner was very informative, telling me exactly what was wrong. He explained to me that if they didn't have a motor on hand, they would have to order it. They immediately contacted and said it was going to take a month. So, we’re waiting for the motor to be brought in. It's frustrating that you can't make something come faster than it can come. We’re living without an air conditioning unit for two months now. Everybody else was dealing with air conditioning units in trouble so you can only make the people that do the job do what they can do. American Home Shield didn’t provide us with fans or window units. We used what we had on hand and then, I went out and bought a few more units to have air.

    I put an order in for my washer and American Home Shield kept giving me the runaround telling me to call Sears. Sears said that they didn't do business that way and that AHS had to do the appointment. So, I told the person who answered the phone, "Well, send me an email confirming the date they're going to come out here." I don't even know if I'm on the radar for August 23rd. It was supposed to be earlier than that. He said, "Well, you should get an email from them confirming." I haven't received anything.     The microwave wasn't doing anything. Online is simpler just to put in a request. But calling American Home Shield is difficult because you get a foreign country most of the time and you can't get answers most of the time that you need. Other than that, the tech came into the house and he knew what he was doing as far as when he started to evaluate everything. He took the microwave apart, looked at it thoroughly and found out what was wrong with it. He repaired it. He warmed it up. He made sure it worked. It helped because we use the microwave a lot, and then we actually use it for a rental. So, when we have people come to visit, then it helps to have it available.

    The washing machine was clogged, and it was leaking. Also, we thought our fridge had low pressure. The guy who came for the first time was from AG. He fixed the washer. He didn't even take a look at the fridge to explain anything to us. He said he was going to come back. He filed a report saying it was fixed and there was nothing to do. We followed up and they said, "Oh, yeah. He said it was done." But it wasn't. We had him come back out again and he was like, "Hey, look. I told you it was already done." He filed the report. I called the company and they were like, "Oh, no. He said everything was fine." I said, "Well, he told us something different." It was a really bad experience with that guy. I called him and he hung up on me without giving me any info.

    We called for a second opinion. The guy who came out for the second opinion was from Premier Appliance. The guy was so sweet. He explained everything to us. He agreed that there was nothing faulty but explained why. It was a much better experience. I understood what the problem was now. Somebody at least told me everything, was very upfront about it, explained to me the process, explained why it was, and then went from there. American Home Shield is pretty good. Overall, we've had a very good experience with them.

    American Home Shield does pretty good when I call in and they try to hook me up with somebody right away. I had an incident where it was somebody that was out of the area and wasn't gonna be able to come in for a week or two. I told American Home Shield that wasn't gonna work so they went ahead and swapped me with somebody else, and I was able to get some assistance right away.

    When my icemaker wasn’t making ice, the technician showed up more or less around the time he had stated and replaced the part. It didn't take too long for him to complete the job. However, at one point, there was a faucet outside that I thought was gonna be covered but American Home Shield doesn't cover outside items. Also, I was on a certain plan where my rate was lower than what I'm paying right now. Upon completion of the year, my rate went up. I had discussed that with somebody at American Home Shield and I was hoping that I could go back to my previous rate. Somebody was supposed to reach out to me, but I haven't heard anything as of yet.

    The air conditioning came on, it was just not cold. The tech that AHS sent got out very quickly. Once we had a conversation, he was pretty much there. We had scheduled the call, but then he called me back that he'd be out there tonight. So, he came out, did the inspection after hours, which was fine with me. He did a pressure test. In the pressure test, the gauges were out of bounds a lot. He went up and inspected the air handler, saw the TVT valve was clogged. He ended up ordering parts, came in, replaced the valve, re-pressure tested the system, and it's working fine. It took a while to get the part, but I understand that that happens.

    The water heater thermostat wasn't working. Once the contractor got my claim through American Home Shield, the techs got here in two days. But when I talked to customer service, it looked like the person I had on was having a hard time understanding me. The tech did a good job though. Having the home warranty, I can get the contractors come to me, and then if one doesn't work out, then I can get another one. AHS do send some contractors that are rip off. The contractor that installed the water heater charged me $200. Once I paid my deductible, I shouldn't have had to pay anything else. I said, "I already had paid my deductible and I wouldn't have to pay anything."

    A technician came out the next day after I filed a claim for the AC unit that wasn't getting too cold. He determined that it was a little low on freon, so he put some freon in there. He said there might have been a slight leak in the drain so he checked that also. He said it wasn't severe enough to be worried about right now.

    I used AHS about three times and every time, it seems like they get the lowest bidders. So they send people that can fix pretty much nothing. When the AC broke down, the contractor said they couldn't fix it. Right now, it's 120 over here in El Centro. So I can't use that room. I have to go to Lowe's, buy a window unit, and install it myself if I want to go or sleep in there. AHS should improve their service. People can't wait for them whenever they want to.

    Our AC unit was making a loud whining noise and was not working. A guy from Xtreme Heating & Air came out on the day I had the issue and he told me what was going on. A piece of the internal motor had fallen off and lodged in the fan blade. He saw the issue and fixed it that day. The other repair person I had before wasn't able to get the lodged piece extracted so he gave me a quote for how much the set would be to replace the whole thing. In the future, it might end up getting to that point.

    The Xtreme Heating & Air guy was great. Everything is running great and I'm satisfied with the quality of work. I started hearing a noise again the following day and I was a little concerned about the longevity of the motor in the fan, but the noise stopped. I haven't heard that noise since and it's been a week. When you have a home warranty, there is flexibility if something happens. I normally get my AC and furnace serviced. I thought the service company that I use was part of American Home Shield's network. Unfortunately, they are not.

    The AC was turning on and then it was turning back off again. Initially, I thought it had something to do with a capacitor. But what it turned out to be was in the thermostat. In the air handler portion of the system, the air handler has a built-in kill switch. If the water tray that holds the condensation from the air handler, it plugs up. As this thing was running, it was plugging up so it was shutting up the thermostat. The repairman was able to diagnose that and was able to get up into a very small crawlspace in the attic and repair it. I renew American Home Shield every year. But I have another issue with them and it's with their third-party contractor that has been unresolved for coming up on a year now. I don't think American Home Shield understands that their contractor is not doing them any favors by not responding to the issue.

Back in the day, they did send out one air conditioning guy that I'll never have back at the house. He was shady and was giving me advice on how to do insurance fraud. Recently, it seemed that the screws on the underside of the tank of the toilet needed to be adjusted. A plumber fixed that. Also the shower was leaking. He fixed that as well. He was awesome.     American Home Shield sent Integrity for our air conditioning. They fixed it once on the first try. Then, coincidentally, a week later, we filed another claim, but it was a different air conditioner. On that one, they were out like the week before last, and then they are supposed to be here Monday. They did a temporary fix on it, which is fine. It's just kind of odd that it was like eight days between that. But all in all, those people are really pleasant.

    The claim process was super easy. I went upstairs and my son went, "It's 82 degrees." My wife had a claim filed. I don't think it could be any easier to file a claim. Every experience I've had with AHS has been great and they do what's right. I wanted a new air conditioner, but again, if they can fix it, they fix it. So, it seems fair and it's easy to deal with. This is our fourth AHS warranty and I never even looked or considered anything else. We'll pay for the good service, and that's AHS.

    American Home Shield first set me up with a company that was very inadequate with their customer service. I wasn't satisfied with the timeliness of things. It was a three-day response we waited. When the technician showed up, he did not have the proper equipment on their truck to do the inspection. I live in a condo and half my unit is up on a roof and half my unit is in my condominium. There was nothing he could do because he didn't have a ladder. Not only did he claim they didn't have a ladder, but he said their highest ladder is six feet. It required just under seven feet to get on top of my roof. He said that we had to arrange a ladder on our own.

    I called the company immediately. They claimed to have been in business for 85 years, and I was quite sarcastic and not very friendly. I asked them how they could be in business for 85 years and not be prepared. They were trying to tell me I had to wait four more days. I said, “Listen. First of all, I already waited three days. Your technician was unprepared. This just is not acceptable.” They made me feel as though I wasn't prepared, for which I immediately called American Home Shield and was set up with a second company. When I told the customer service guy the problems I was having with the first company, he was Johnny-on-the-spot, making phone calls and contact with someone on a Saturday to ensure that my torture in a hot condo was not prolonged.

    The second company rocked. Right from the get go, they tried to scramble once they realized my situation. They didn't seem to be as big a corporate place as the first company, so the initial customer service with their office was phenomenal. Their response time was better than the first company and once they’d been there, they were incredibly knowledgeable. The guy that came out knew everything. He was really on it. I have some familiarity with the situation as well. So every time he spoke, I knew that he knew what he was doing. I was very grateful for that second company.

    I'm so satisfied with American Home Shield. I was really scared when I did the claim. You pay these things for a long time. It's like when you need your insurance company, they never really give you the great deal. I was a little afraid that something might go down like that. But American Home Shield backed their promise. I paid a service fee and then they took care of everything else. I got exactly what I was promised. I appreciate it.

    I have a front load dryer, and it was making a banging noise. I submitted the claim and paid the fee online, so it was super convenient.     There's a unit that seems to be low in the gas that it use every year. Somebody came and just filled up the gas and that was done. That unit uses a gas that is no longer in the market, so it's hard to find. But the other one was also low in gas and the techs suspected that there was a leak also on that one, but they couldn't find it. So, they put the gas, but also injected a UV marker. They told me it's possible that this will repeat but this time, we will have a way to identify where the leak is happening. This week, it stopped cooling completely. Hopefully, someone will come tomorrow or so and see if there's a leak and where the leak is.

    I'm very happy with this latest company that was sent here by AHS. Out of the three that have come, those guys have been the best. They really went and explain like, "Hey, this is what's happening here." The other two companies that have been here kind of do their thing and they just complain that one of the unit should be replaced, and that's it. But the guy that came this time around on this new company was really explaining everything. He took the time to explain, "Hey, look, this here, this is no longer in the market. And for this one, you see, for this reason, no one will be able to put UV on this old unit because it's extremely dangerous to put it." I finally understood what's happening on the other unit. On the new unit, he also explained, "Hey, this is a completely new unit and I see it's low in gas. When something like this happen, that means there's a leak somewhere. But there's nothing apparent."

    American Home Shield responds quickly as far as getting the technician to come when you need help and the tech would get the job done in a reasonable amount of time. Within the timeframe I had my home warranty, I had plumbing in my bathroom fixed, I got a new dryer and a new washer, and a new refrigerator. I had a contractor that I had one time before. They always do well. Because I have the home warranty, I don't have to force money out right away to get whatever done. I might have to pay a fee to get a contractor but it’s not too hard.     I've had American Home Shield for three years and I have had a number of appliances that needed to be either repaired or fixed. The only concern I have is that my monthly fee has gone up without any notice. When I first joined, I was paying $80 a month and now, I'm paying like 115 a month. No one tells me anything, it just happens and I see it in my checking account. Other than that, whenever I call for service, it's been pretty good. I had a claim for the dishwasher that was not draining and the contractor was quick, although we waited for about three weeks for the part. Also, one of the first things that went was my refrigerator. To replace that refrigerator would have been $3500 but with AHS, I'm not out of pocket for thousands of dollars and the refrigerator runs like new.

I did call the company first thing on Monday morning because we were in a stretch that it was over 100 degrees and the heat index was 108 just to verify he was gonna be able to get to me.     On 7/15, I made a request to American Home Shield to have someone come out and look at my air conditioning unit that was out. On the 20th, some guy called and came out. He was superb and said it needed a compressor. They always like to order it themselves, so I was told it would take a while to get in. But I have been waiting now for almost a full month and I called 20 times to the customer service. It’s a foreign call center and they know nothing. I asked for a manager or someone greater up to talk to me and they know nothing. The reps are sweet and kind, but they do nothing and just tell me that it's not coming in yet. Every time I call, they keep delaying and delaying it.

    When my concern went through escalation, they didn't respond. They gave me the name of the service provider, American Plumbing, Heating, and Air Conditioning Company, and after the guy came out, they didn't pick up their phone. Luckily, I got through one time but until now, I still don't have air conditioning. My wife went in for a surgery and we had to go spend a week in a hotel because we couldn't handle this house. It's incredibly the worst service I've ever had in my life from anybody any time. I've talked to air conditioner friends in town and they said they could get a compressor in a day or two. I would have just bought one from them and I would've already ended this thing. Instead, I have over $2,000 with hotel fees and discomfort.

    The first floor unit was completely broken. It would kick on, make like a loud noise, then turn off. The tech's company is perfect. But American Home Shield has to do a better job screening who they let work for them. I had somebody here in March, April, May, and June, and it didn't get fixed until July. All that four months of things breaking and things not getting fixed the correct way, which had nothing to do with Nice. It had to do with AHS. All those times people came here, they would send me complete jerks. I could name the companies that came here and they didn't do anything for me. It caused my electric bill to go up to over $4,000. I'm stuck with that bill.

    Nice Air Conditioning has been the best company. The tech was a complete gentleman. He had another person with him. He swapped out all my equipment. He fixed everything. And he made sure that when he left, there was cold air coming out of my air conditioner. Not just, “Let me see if it works. Oh, yeah, it works. All right, I'm out of here.” I had a personal phone number for him, and when I would ask him things, he would tell me and help me. Nobody else did that. He deserves all the business in the world because he knows his stuff and how to talk to people.

    American Home Shield has a plan that's much all-inclusive. With unknown expenses that can pop up at any time, it's peace of mind not having to ever worry about it, knowing that you've got the coverage. I've had to use them a lot and they've been fantastic.     The hot water faucet that I had installed took about three months. After I spoke with American Home Shield, I didn't hear from the contractor. I waited and waited. They were busy on a big job and then they finally got to me. But they did an excellent job. It just took a while. I would definitely use them on my own. I had another claim for the AC and the whole thing had to be replaced. The contractor ordered it and said that as soon as they received it in they would call me. Five weeks later, I finally called and I asked. They checked with the parts department to find out when it was gonna ship and they said it shipped about four weeks before. There was no paperwork sent with the AC from wherever it came from. So they had to figure out exactly whose unit was whose. Once they did, they installed the unit in a timely fashion even though it did break down last week. But they were out that day. It was incredible. So I was very happy.

    With COVID, everything is messed up, including shipping parts and being able to find help to work with companies. So I expect to have delays. But I have a new AC unit now and it didn't cost me a fortune. Even though there was a mix-up in the shipping and the paperwork, it was done in a timely fashion. I'm waiting now to have my ceiling fan in my kitchen installed. I received the ceiling fan today. So I just have to set up a time with the contractor to install it.

    We had a plugged drain, and the guy from TMD Plumbing routed it out for us. We also had a plugged drain in the basement floor, and he discussed that one with my husband. But it was not necessary to do anything with that one. The contractors through American Home Shield have all been really good. We have not had any complaints on them. One thing that we were disappointed in is years ago, our hot water heater claim was denied because they said, "Oh, you didn't drain the water every year." So, this year, our hot water heater went out again, and we didn't even call them. We just took care of it ourselves, and found the local plumber because we knew what the answer was going to be. We had a rental and we had Choice on that one and we like American Home Shield better. They are friendlier to work with.

    I contacted a contractor and scheduled an appointment. The gentleman did a fantastic job but they charged me $350. But I was then subjected to this onslaught of, “Would you like to join American Home Shield? Would you like to become a member?” I talked to someone and said I was already a member. I told him my contract number and unfortunately, he had no information as to why I was charged $350.

    The next time I needed someone, instead of contacting the actual technician, I went through American Home Shield. I was told then that that was the way that I should have gone. And I'm thinking, “Well, who would know based on the website?”. The website says American Home Shield and then it shows the technicians and all of the things that they offer. And I can schedule. I did it all online but that's not through American Home Shield. It’s extremely strange that the company is sharing a website with a separate entity. If you don't know what to click and what not to click, you're scheduling services that supposedly are not with AHS.

    American Home Shield is a very good insurance company. My microwave handle was broken, and they replaced that. There are some issues with my refrigerator and they're going to show up today. American Home Shield has a very simple process and they did very good jobs. However, maybe there should be a bit more options of contractors in the area because the wait time is a little long. I waited one week for our refrigerator to be fixed then we were told American Home Shield had to order the part. The repair company said the part was delivered on Wednesday, but they have to pick it up, and then have to come on Friday. I called on Friday, and they said, "Oh, no, nobody scheduled it." They couldn't come on Friday, but that's normal for these things, especially since it is a very busy season for all the workers.

    I had a drain that was clogged up and I had a faucet was leaking. The contractor has a pending order for the faucets because they had to replace both when they came. The second one, they tried to unclog the drain. They couldn't get it all the way down with what the tech had, so American Home Shield sent a different tech out two days later with a longer snake to get the drain unclogged. Everything's working fine as far as the drain is concerned. I'm still waiting for the faucets, but they said they had to get that re-approved and everything else. It went better this time than some of the previous interactions I've had. The techs and the organization did a good job this time.

    Initially, there was a leak in a pipe above my kitchen ceiling from my drain in my shower. So, it needed a gasket around it. I called American Home Shield on a Wednesday and by Thursday, they had already told me who the plumber would be to contact, which was Priceless Plumbing. I called and the secretary said that the repair guy would come out on Monday. And he was there on Monday morning. The second issue, which happened all of a sudden, was our water heater went out. I called AHS and requested for the repair guy again and he came out. He replaced the water heater and the drain. He replaced some other parts that were old because the water heater was very old. So, he did a good job and was very neat and thorough.

    Everything is working fine. I'm just waiting now to hear back from American Home Shield to get a drywall person to come out because I have a small hole in my ceiling. It’s been about two days. I had to pay out of pocket for the water heater because I had company coming and I couldn't have guests staying at my house with no hot water. AHS is gonna pay me back some of it but not all of it. Still, they have saved me some money and I'm happy with what they are gonna pay because I could be completely out of pocket and not get any reimbursement.

    American Home Shield sent Hospitality Heating out for the AC. I explained what was going on to the person who came out and once he checked everything, he said it was low on refrigerant. So, he put two pounds in it. But I continued to have the problem. It worked good for a couple of days. Then I started having the same problem again. When they sent out another tech, he was like, "Everything checked out, and it was working fine." I explained to him that sometimes it would work, and sometimes it wouldn't. It was just blowing out warm air. The next day, it was not working again. So, I called and made another claim to see if somebody can come out to see exactly what the issue is. It’s not working every day.

    Somebody is supposed to come out today. They gave me a window from 12:00 to 8:00. I want somebody to come out, and I told them to give me a 30 minute call because I do have to run out and pick my children up from school and if they call me in between and I'm not at home, they'll just reschedule a different day. I'm still waiting on them to call me. As far as AHS, I was satisfied. Their agent was helpful.

    I was having an issue with an add-on toilet that we had. The tech did a good job. He had some experience and he knew what it was. It was a valve that my other contractors needed to put in.     When the tech initially came out, he diagnosed that my unit had a coil that was bad and would need to be replaced. He tried to put some Freon in it to get it to hold and it wouldn't stay. So, the contractor came back again with the coil and put the coil in. The part that I didn't know and didn't like was that there were parts of the AC system that AHS doesn't cover. I was out of pocket 900 and some odd dollars. Explore what your policy and what it covers and doesn't cover.

    Service Max came out to replace the air conditioning unit. It just seized up. It tripped the breaker and it was done. The whole process took about six weeks because they had to order the replacement from American Home Shield. Service Max did an awesome job. As far as AHS, sometimes, their phone support line takes a really long time when you call in with a problem. But other than that, they've been really great.

    We did a service request because we had no cold water. American Home Shield's claim process was online and it was easy. One thing I didn’t like was I couldn't really communicate with American Home Shield. It should be easier if you need to contact them. I ended up having to communicate with their contractor Kintex. They had to come three times to solve the problem because the plumber that they sent didn't know what type of plumbing I had, which I found quite strange. Being a plumber, that should be their profession. But they couldn’t figure it out. Some of the plumber's colleagues were able to help him out. They needed to change one of the filters inside the knobs. It took three weeks to resolve a problem when that could have taken a day or a couple of days. Other than that, everything is working well.

    When the AC wasn't cooling off, the contractor that came out was pretty efficient and found out the problem was my Freon. They added it right then and I had to pay $250. They said AHS only paid for the $10 of the Freon. When you have insurance, the purpose is for them to help you, not to add more cost. And that appears to be the number one problem.

    From one day to the next, I just turned the AC on and it stopped working. It just blew hot air. I submitted my claim on the American Home Shield website, paid the copay, and it happened fast. The website was very informative and convenient. AHS said I could call the company to schedule the appointment. So I called them and was a little disappointed because they said that they were busy and didn't have time for three days. They had me wait until Sunday. And then the following day, they called me and said, “Hey, we got an open schedule. Can we come today at 2:00?” They came the next day and I was happy. They were very nice, professional people, and they got it done. I wasn't gonna take my kids for the weekend because I thought my AC would be out of service.     We came home from work one evening and we had no air conditioning. The outside unit would run but the inside unit would not. The fan wouldn't come up and no air was blowing out of the vent. We called our local contractor that installed the unit. They came out and told us we needed a motor and a control board for the motor. They turned all the electricity off to the unit upstairs. Then they called us back a couple of days later and said they wanted to come out and put a temporary motor on until they could get the parts that we needed. I said, “Well, how much are those parts?” And they said, “Well, about $1,700 and they're on backorder until at least October.”

    So, we made a claim through American Home Shield. They sent TJ Morgan and the techs turned the air conditioning unit on. Everything worked. He said the control board was outputting with no error messages. He also said the fan motor was running and there were no indications that it had a problem. He checked the Freon in the outside unit and didn't find anything wrong with it. The only thing we can figure out is there’s some kind of reset switch on the unit. When the local techs turned the electricity completely off, and when we turned the unit back on, somehow that reset the unit. When we called our local company back and told them what happened, they said, “TJ Morgan's a very reputable company.” They said they would have recommended TJ Morgan.

    My dryer though is a a totally different issue. They're gonna have to buy it out because there's no parts available. It's been three and a half weeks and they still haven't fixed my dryer or replaced it like they claimed they will. I've had a couple of other claims with them that were fine. But we can't seem to settle on the dryer. AHS and I have been having that conversation since a week ago, Friday. Every time I've called, they put me off.

It took a little longer because it was a weekend, but other than that, it was excellent. I've also had other repairs with American Home Shield. I had a TV that had gone off.     What I don't like about the website when I file claims online is that I wish I could check the schedule before I pay. I go in, I pay $100, and then, on some things, it may be so far out that I reconsider. Other than that, it's fine. I get the name of who the contractor would be, their phone number, and how to reach out to them before they come out. I had a claim for the oven that North Star Appliance Repair came out for. I reached out to them several times because the part was on backorder and it took way longer than we anticipated. We pushed three to four weeks on that. We're a family of six and we do most of our meals at home. Having the oven out for that long greatly impacted our day-to-day functions at home. But North Star was nice. I have a lot of high-end appliances and AHS is a little peace of mind.

I've told a lot of people that if they don't have someone covering their stuff, they need to get with American Home Shield because I've had no issues with them. They've taken care of everything we've had a problem with. Recently, my air conditioner quit putting out any cold air. It was just a fan running. Myers Comfort Specialist of Montgomery came out and found a leak in the coil. They replaced it with a new one and it's cold in this house now. They seemed to know what they were doing and it didn't take that long for them to put the system in and get it back up online. However, I had to pay for the freon because it wasn't covered by American Home Shield which I did not quite understand. I was lucky because they only had to put five pounds of freon back in.

    My AC unit would not go below a certain temperature. At one point, my house was not getting cooler. The air was still blowing out and was on auto, but it wouldn't stop. It was a little cool, but it wasn't as cool as it should have been. A tech came within 24 hrs. He initially told me he may not be able to get to me until Thursday.     The air conditioning kept tripping the circuit breaker for our recent claim with AHS. The tech added what was communicated to me as a kickstarter or supercapacitor was installed and that seemed to rectify the issue temporarily. It went out again this past weekend. But we called out a different contractor to come in and change the actual breaker rather than mess with the AC unit.

    The claim process with AHS was pretty cool. It seems like most issues happen on the weekend. I don't know if they have any contracting party to service on the weekend. But that would be a benefit. Two days without air in Texas is dangerous. Everything is done on the app. But it would be nice to speak with the rep rather than once the appointment is scheduled to contact the vendor themselves. Because we have a two-story unit so we had two AC units. So the second, the follow-up appointment, I said I wanted them to come out and look at both. But the vendor was saying, "You have to contact American Home Shield because they need another ticket." That could have been rectified had I been directed to speak to an agent with American Home Shield rather than directly to the vendor.

    I called AHS and filed a complaint. I got a work order. I had to do it four times because each time, the refrigerator would go back and have the same problem. I had four different people out here, once with Sears and then three times with Appliance Wizard. The last time they came out, they said they couldn't fix it because it's exactly the way it was the last time they were here. They said they couldn't fix it anymore. They did everything they could. They said that they were gonna report to AHS that this couldn't be fixed and it needs to be replaced.

    Appliance Wizard was good. They kept working on it but something else would come out. It'd be the same problem or a different problem. But it was always not working. The problem is I need to replace it now because I have medication that needs to be refrigerated. This problem has been going on for a month and nobody's replacing the refrigerator or repairing it. I called AHS three times to complain and they kept telling me, "Look for your email." I want the refrigerator replaced like the warranty says it will do. But I still haven't heard from American Home Shield about an email how to get a new refrigerator.

    We had a leak near the water heater, and then it ended up being from the toilet that was upstairs. I did a claim to American Home Shield and the process was easy and self-explanatory.     My dishwasher had just quit working. The contractor came out, looked at it and it was obsolete. They couldn't get parts for it so they replaced it. The process was good. American Home Shield sent us some information to select the dishwashers from a list and we selected the dishwasher. Company came out to do the install, brought the dishwasher out, and I had a plumbing issue. The tech said the valve was rusted and he couldn't do the install. So then, we had a plumbing company come out and replace that valve, and then we called back and AHS rescheduled it with someone else because they couldn't reach the one contractor that was originally assigned. So then, that contractor came out and did the install.

    I opened a service request on August 10th that included some electrical issues and a ceiling fan. The contractor worked very fine and fixed my electrical issues. And about the ceiling fan, he told me he will put some approval for the part, and once it gets approved, then he would come back and fix it. That was on the 10th. By this time, he has never communicated with me.

    Then, I opened two times the follow-up request, and every time, the next day, it'll automatically disappear. I contacted customer care service today and they gave me some feedback that some of the parts from the ceiling fan are missing and which are not being covered by Home Shield.     I ticked off the breakers on and off to make sure that it wasn't a breaker issue and the outside breaker was still functioning. At the same time, while we can run the AC through auto mode continuously, the house started to heat up in the late afternoon into the early evening. By the time I went to bed, it was 80 degrees. By the time we woke up, it was 84 degrees. The guy showed up from the repair shop next day. There was real good communication. He communicated when he first called us right before he came. He also communicated to turn off the air conditioner so that it was not on when he get here. As soon as he got there, he rang the bell and said to turn the air conditioner back on. We turned it back on and I followed him around the side of the house. The air conditioner is a big Trane. It's at least four and a half feet high. It made a noise, which is more noise that I’ve heard since the day before.

    There's a fan system separate from the AC unit outside and that was going continuously but one of the them had issues. The fan was blowing internally upstairs, but it wasn't having any effect. The guy removed a panel. Once the machine made a noise, he looked at the wall, turned off the breaker on the wall outside, took off the panel and immediately pulled the capacitor. He went to his truck, put in a replacement capacitor, turned on the power, and it fired up. He put the panel back together and was done in 10 minutes. It was unbelievable. He knew exactly what he was doing. I was really pleased with the response time. Within 24 hours from the initial call, American Home Shield had someone out there. His level of knowledge and courtesy was very high. I’m a pretty big do-it-yourself guy and didn't know if American Home Shield would ever pay off. But I'm never getting rid of them. They'll be around forever.

    In my first claim, I called someone to replace a faucet from my laundry area as it was stuck. The plumber came, cut the drywall that had pipes underneath it, and replaced the faucet. After that, he told me that American Home Shield should be sending someone to fix the drywall that was cut. But that never happened, I hadn't heard from anybody, so I just fixed that myself. Recently, the air conditioning unit stopped working during the night and we just realized that because we saw the temperature going up. When we checked outside, it was not running. In the morning, I sent in a request and someone came quickly. The capacitor was not working and it was replaced, and everything was working after that.

    There was some blockage in the AC system. Our external outlet for condensation was dripping constantly and we were trying to figure out what the issue was. The tech came and told us it was just algae buildup within the system and he cleared it out. It's working fine now. The tech was very respectful and he showed us what the issue was. He also gave us pointers on what to do to avoid that reoccurring and said it would mostly happen in the summer. All in all, the home warranty is a good thing to have because the cost when some of those things go off might be very expensive. Or you get to a situation where you get somebody that's not under warranty service that charge you an arm and a leg. It’s like an insurance, per se, and it gives you a sense of calm in case something happens, that that something is going to be taken care of. You just got to pay a deductible and the rest of it is taken care of by the warranty company.

It just took too long to get it fixed due to the parts. So, I went out to buy a small microwave unit to be able to survive those days. I did my claim to American Home Shield over the phone. Their reps are very professional and they're willing to help all the time. AHS is the best warranty company I have experience with.

    The AC wasn’t blowing cold anymore. My wife submitted a claim to American Home Shield. The guy from Collins Electric that was sent was professional. He arrived on the scheduled time when he said he was going to be here. He was a good guy. The issue hasn't been resolved yet, but there's a compressor that’s on order. Once they'll receive that, then they'll give us a call and we’ll schedule the return trip. Having American Home Shield is worth it.

    The tech was respectful. He fixed the problem, but then the next day, it started happening once, then the following day, it happened three times, and my garage is not working. That's why I called them again. He scheduled today, between 11:00 and 2:00. I would recommend American Home Shield because it comes in handy. Sometimes they fix stuff, they would be expensive, and it's helpful.

    The AC stopped cooling. It was addressed great and the contractor made a fix the same day. We had another call afterwards for plumbing. The company wasn't open on Monday. So, we called about that one and it was a backup. That was a hot mess. But with the air conditioning one, it was fine. Every homeowner should have a home warranty. You never know what's gonna go wrong, especially when you're buying an older home.

    The ice maker freezer went out and when I called American Home Shield, the rep tried to get me to KitchenAid. I called them and they said it would be a month. I couldn’t do that so the AHS rep asked if I would rather have somebody local and I said yes. The contractor first thought it was something else. Then, they realized that they had to order parts to fix it because it wasn't making ice and it was dripping and the freezer wasn't freezing as much as it should. They did a good job and they were good with communication. I called a couple of times to make sure because I’ve heard that with Covid, there are a lot of delays and things don't come. I called the contractor the next week after a few days and I asked for an ETA on the part. The rep said it had been ordered and AHS approved it. It seems like American Home Shield emails were always kind of later after I got information.

    As soon as the contractor got the part, they called me and came out to do it. The icemaker seems okay since then and it’s not dripping nor roaring although it seems like the ice is not as big. I've had American Home Shield several times and I had another company about two years ago. It was such a horrific experience but after that, this one with AHS was 1,000% better.

    Usually, when I call to get a repair, I have to wait on the phone forever. Now AHS has a callback service, which is very nice. I like that. Recently, my garage door wouldn't go up and down. Nothing would work and I had to manually do it. The tech came last Friday and looked at it then he called American Home Shield. He fixed it. I was happy with everything.
