Beth of Roxbury NY (06/10/08) I have had an excellent experience with EcoQuest. I have many of their products in my home and love all of them. From what I have read, it seems that individuals are having issues with their independent business owners not with the actual company. I know for a fact that if something goes wrong all you need to get is an RMA number from the company before sending it back, and they will replace or repair whatever is wrong. They have been very good about this with me. If your dealer is not treating you right, then you should call the company directly to request help or to ask for a new dealer. They can be reached at 800-989-2299.

Andrea of Social Circle GA (06/10/08) Since I purchase the air purifying machine in the late 90's I have had constant problems. It has never worked for longer that a month at a time. I sent it back while it was under warrenty to be repaired. They would send it back again only working for a small amount of time. I would call time after time...operators were very rude and were never any help. Now I have this exspensive machine that when working does a wonderful job, but NEVER works.
the cost of repair would over time be enough to replace it with a new one. I can't afford to repair it anymore. If there is a class action suit against this company please contact me. Robert of Mt Holly,, NC May 29, 2008
Robert of Mt Holly, NC (05/29/08) I purchased an Ecoquest Model FreshAir 2.1 from this dealer approximately 7 months ago. The first unit delivered worked for only 3 weeks and then the front control key pad failed to function. The dealer sent me a second unit, Not a new one, but one returned from another prospective customer that didn't want it. This unit was dead on arrival. It wouldn't even turn on.
The Dealer replaced the above unit with a third unit. This unit operated for 2-1/2 weeks and then completely shut down. The fan quit running, the ozone lamp shut down etc. The dealer gave me an RMA number and I, at my expense, shipped it back to Ecoquest for repair. I also called the Ecoquest repair center. I asked the Customer Service Rep. if they could assure me that when repaired this unit would at least run as advertised. The very curt response was that all she could guarantee is that the unit would be operational when they shipped it back to me. The returned repaired unit failed in less than five weeks with the control keypad becoming non-functional. I again called the dealer, and received the usual pep talk of how great the units were and how he would arrange for me to ship it back again for additional repairs.
I plainly stated that after spending 749.00 for the unit not counting the cost of shipping back for repairs, I didn't want the unit period. I wanted my money back. As stated I've only had the use of the Ecoquest for 10 weeks out of the seven months I've had it and it has been nothing but a constant source of aggrevation. My wife and I are over 70 years old and the 800.00 (Purchase + Shipping) we spent it had worked, would have been a good investment. We no-longer have any faith or belief that this unit or any unit from this company will ever work properly or keep from draining our limited resources.
The Dealer informed me neither he or the Company, Ecoquest would or couldn't refund our money but only let us keep shipping the unit back at our expense for more repairs. This to us is totally unacceptable and certianly in our thought process not an ethical way of doing business. IE: You buy something. It either works or if it fails you get it exchanged. If the second unit fails you give them one more chance. After your third bad experience you take it back and get your money back. We've given it four chances and are now told SORRY, we can't refund your money. So Much for Business Ethics - So much for Honesty - Damage not counting the aggrevation and frustration to us is the loss of the 800.00 we paid out of our Limited Social Security Income for a product which supposedly had a three year warrantee and satisfaction gaurantee. Kelley of Kathleen FL (04/29/08) I love Ecoquest products. There are so many individuals who refuse to follow the instructions on the units. I have an ecobox I love it. My home is 1200sqft it covers a 1500sqft area. I was told to put it on a high shelf 6ft and up. It works very well. My daughter and I are very asthmatic and my whole family has allergies. This unit has not only gotten rid of the allergie problems but helped asthma issues all together. The fresh air is to my undrstand at first it puts a strong ordor out but eventually fades out when it eliminates all that junk in your air. We are all used to breathing bad stuff all the time. I can only hope that those out there who knock these product give a try first and follow instructions. I also have a laundry pure I have had nothing but great progress from this unit. My clothes are so clean and my son doesnt have allergies like when we used laundry detergent.
I will recommend anyone to try the ecoquest products they are awesome. I know many individuals that use their products and hear nothing but great things. Please also understand that ecoquest is the manufacturer not the business owners Nancy of Gaithersburg, MD April 26, 2008
Nancy of Gaithersburg MD (04/26/08) HELP! We are SO SICK! On April 16th, 2008 a contractor who was working on my house installed an Ecoquest Fresh Air Living Air Purifier. I immediately noticed that all of the flies (about seven) he brought in the house with him were dead that night on the floor... I was thrilled, no need to go buy a fly-swatter! On April 17, 2008 our purebred Ragdoll gave birth to five healthy kittens. On the 18th, the first one died. I couldn't determine why, but I was also suffering headaches, dizziness and coughing, so I turned the unit off. I decided I was being silly and turned it back on on the 20th. That night we came into the house to find another dead kitten. I called the installer in tears. He came to my house and assured me that there was nothing about the purifier that would kill animals... so we left it on. However, I brought the mommy cat and her 3 kittens up to my bedroom off the main floor.
The next morning my nine year old daughter and I had splitting headaches and horrible respiratory problems, but we had a school field trip which I had 'been selected' to attend, so we dragged ourselves LATE to her school, and I slept on the bus, and through the entire performance which is completely unlike me, and was very embarrassing to me, but I felt so awful I couldnt stay awake. When we came back home, our own respiratory problems immediately got worse, and my daughter started having asthma like symptoms, and I had trouble with my vision. That was the 21st of April of 2008, and when I went looking for our cat, we found her dead, but still warm. Searching the house, we found that our beta fish and my daughter's hermit crab were also dead. The three kittens were still alive in my closet.
At this point, I grabbed the kittens and we vacated our home. I called our vet and they recommended a necropsy report, but I was too scared to re-enter the house to retrieve the dead cat and the kittens in the trash until the evening of the 24th. I buried our beloved cat and took one of the kittens to the VCA hospital. On April 25th, my daughter and I were so sick again that she didn't go to school, and I started researching this air filter, only to find out it emits ozone, which is a toxic gas when it combines with air, and that it has been proven to cause respiratory problems in children, the elderly, and person's who supposedly have a 'weakened immune system'.
I have since called the Animal Poison Control Center, and the Human Poison Control Center. I have a carbon monoxide monitor in our home, and we have electric heat, not gas, but I also asked our neighbors if they had used a defogger without our knowledge. They both said No. I am considering calling the Fire Department to have a Hasmat team come and determine the levels of ozone, or poisoning in our home, becuase something is killing everything under four pounds, and making us terribly sick. Please contact me if you have any more information.
