I booked a cruise through Cruises.com back in April, but due to recent events we decided to cancel. They charge a ONE HUNDRED DOLLAR cancellation fee on top of the initial $25 being non-refundable. This was not clearly stated in the information I was given during the booking process on their website. They are scamming people out of money by charging ridiculous fees that will overwhelm any potential savings you would've gotten through their rates.

Don’t do any business with this shady company. Booked a cruise November 2019 for September 2020. Cruise was naturally cancelled. Neither Princess or Cruises.com will give me back my full credit on my credit card. Looks like I’ll only get future cruise credit on the deposit I made in November 2019. Not a good look for either company at a time when people need their money back and not future cruise credit to be taken within year them canceling.

This is my second cruise I have tried to acquire through Cruises.com. The first cruise was cancelled by the cruise line due to Covid19. Cruises.com TOOK $100.00 from my cc to cancel the cruise, even though the cruise was cancelled by the cruise line. My second cruise I cancelled today before final payment, I cancelled, again due to Covid 19. And being a senior, not in my best interest at this time. Cruises.com told me my deposit was non refundable, ($250) even though the virus is still a major problem for seniors. PLUS THEY WANT ANOTHER $100.00 FOR CANCELLING. This company is a scam. I will never use them again, I'm only happy I did NOT pay final payment. Don't think I would get any satisfaction of getting a refund. All I say is BUYER BEWARE!!

This company charges unnecessary fees for doing nothing. A $24.99 fee to book. A $100 fee to cancel even when COVID-19 is causing the cancellation. Thankfully I got trip insurance from a 3rd party so I'll get the money back, but it's principal. They literally did nothing for me to justify the fees. Did I mention the long waits to get service? You are better off booking yourself than throwing money at a do nothing company.

Before booking the trip, we asked several times what was the cancellation procedure. We were told specifically if we cancel before 121 days from day of embarkation, we would get 100% and would decrease as it gets closer to the date of travel. At the time of booking we paid a processing fee of $24.99. We were told that we would have to pay a $50 deposit by Feb 14 for each travel person (total of $150). Balance due was originally mid March but for some reason was changed to Feb 28th. Because we were traveling with 5 yr old child and with the Coronavirus scare/concern, we decided we should just cancel.
We called Cruses.com on Feb 27, to cancel and was told there were a $100 cancellation fee. We argued that we were never told about a cancellation fee and that we asked multiple times. The customer service rep then tells us that the cancellation fees are listed on their invoice. My argument is that the traveling party does not get or see the invoice until after the reservation is made. At this point anyone making a reservation is committed to giving Cruises.com $100 per reservation. My question is how does one know about the cancellation fee if it's only available AFTER you have committed and made the reservation.
There were several other issues prior to the phone call on Feb 27 but we just accepted them and kept calling the correct them. Their practices are not in line with being transparent and I am sure I am not the only individual who has lost money in this manner. During the call, I suggested they pull the recorded line to hear the many times we questioned the cancellation policy and refunded amount.

Long story short they did the research and found the rep dropped the ball and set my final payment up to be paid online. Keep in mind they charged me 100 for cancellation fee. We booked a cruise on the Norwegian Dawn in April of 2019. My mom passed away in February and we just wanted to get away for a few days. The entire experience was horrific. We were told by the Norwegian agent that if NCL books the flights for you, they are responsible for getting you on the ship. Well that changed quickly. I expressed to the agent how anxious I was about flying out on the same day as the cruise but he dismissed that. So our flight got delayed and we missed the ship.
After spending two and a half days in airports, we finally boarded the ship on Sunday. It was only a five day cruise so we had already missed half of it. The staff were nothing like our other cruises. I was shocked - we were actually treated like we were an annoyance and not one NCL staff welcomed us aboard. The excursion was disappointing. We snorkeled in Costa Maya and the water was murky and very few fish. It maybe would have been enjoyable if we were 8 years old. All I asked for was some reimbursement for the days we missed the ship. Norwegian declined and brushed this incident off like it was nothing. So we wasted $3,000 and it was by far the worst vacation we've ever had. DON'T CRUISE ON NORWEGIAN!! There are plenty of other dependable, fun cruise lines!

I booked an Alaskan cruise for 3. One person could not go, which I informed the cruises.com agent, Lachetta, about as soon as I found out (several months in advance). Between Lachetta's days off, medical leave, and messages not being returned, I finally was told that I would receive $500 back. However, I was charged a $100 change fee. After the cruise, which was very nice, I received $149 back. When I attempted to phone Lachetta several times, I never received any communication in return.
I then called and talked with a "supervisor." I was told that Lachetta "made a mistake" and she asked why I didn't cancel the reservation. I stated I had cancelled the reservation through Lachetta. When I was told there was "nothing I can do" I informed this "supervisor" that I would never again do business with Cruises.com. Her response was, "Well, I hope you'll give us another chance." He was then told we would be charged $100 cancellation fee even though the error was their fault and we had just booked it 5 hours earlier!
After speaking to the representative for 20 minutes, he requested to speak to her supervisor. They only issued $100 of the $250 and are saying they are only giving us $125. He is stating that is all it ever was and I have documented proof that it was $250 from the travel agent above what NCL was offering, total. Using that as their excuse. $150 would be the total from CruiseOne.
Today the agent first said oh it is $175, then when I did the math for him, he said, oh yeah, $125. That doesn't even match any amount anywhere. I then tried to cancel with their credit card and they want except that. I am in charge of this since their age limits their ability to do so.

I wish I had read all of the bad reviews before booking with Cruises.com. They tell you one thing and then act like they never said it. We booked a cruise on Royal Caribbean. Great cruise, no problem there. Cruises.com offered a $25 refund when we asked if they gave any perks. We were told by Nicole ** that the check would be sent to us after we returned from sailing. We waited two weeks and no check. We called but don't bother to leave a message as they don't return calls. We called again and were told we had to fill out a form to get our $25. At this point it is the principal so we went to the trouble of filling out their form. Four weeks later we called again and left a message. No return call.
When we finally reached Nicole she told us we weren't entitled to the money because we hadn't spent anything on board. That was not mentioned earlier and I told her the reason we didn't spend any money was because we were entitled to so many perks since we were diamond members. She offered $25 on another booking, but we definitely won't book with them again. They aren't trustworthy, find another place to book.

A week later the guy tells me that we should try the payment again, so I do and it declines again but takes the money. www.cruises.com says that Carnival has the money, my bank tells me that Cruises.com has the money and Carnival won't speak to me because I didn't book through them.
Carnival does tell me that I have call www.cruises.com and have them release my booking to Carnival. YAY a solution, NO www.cruises.com won't release my booking unless I agree to pay a $100 fee. My family was expecting this money to be deducted from our bill on the ship so we had no concerns. When the bill arrived the final day, there was no credit. I questioned NCL to be told there was nothing on my account that I needed to contact my travel agent. I have called my agent and asked for a supervisor. I cannot get anyone to speak to me. Returning home from a cruise with over 500 of unexpected charges has caused a big issue with our family. We saved for a long time to only have this trip ruined by crooks.

THIS IS A FORMAL COMPLAINT TOWARDS YOUR COMPANY. ON March 21, 2016. I spoke to Shannon ** (Who is conveniently out of the office this week) to discuss booking a cruise. Due to the fact that I called, I received the NO DEPOSIT package, which I understood as that money was excluded from my final payment. However, on August 1st, I was charged $500 to Cruise.com which apparently was my pay back for the DEPOSIT that Shannon said Cruises.com pays. I believed that this $500 was going toward the final payment to Royal Caribbean. After my invoice said I still owed $1500 after a few days I called Cruises.com again to figure the situation out, and explain why I still owed $1500 when I just made a $555.56 payment.
Ebony (who did not mention her last name when asked) was completely useless and was very rude to me, when I seemed confused. When I demanded to speak to Shannon who originally booked my cruise, after being on hold for 5+ minutes, I was told she was out of the office until Tuesday, august 9th. Finally, after realizing that EBONY COULD NOT HELP ME, and I demanded to speak to her supervisor, it was determined that he read straight from a script that explains the lying process of the NO DEPOSIT package, because it was clear that this must happen to many other unsuspecting clients. WES (who also didn't say his last name) told me he couldnt do anything but transfer my $500 to Royal Carribean and then still pay the same $500 back to them for the ** UP NO DEPOSIT Package.
After 26 minutes of being on hold, being told I was clueless and that everything was listed on my invoice, they kindly asked me for my credit card info, because yes every 21 year old JUST HAS $1500 laying around, $1500 they never agreed to pay. This was TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Shannon ** COMPLETELY LIED TO ME when explaining the process of the NO DEPOSIT package. Ebony was RUDE when I seemed confused about why I owned $1500 still. Wes, read straight from a script and offered no help to me, except claiming that just "handing out money to the cruise lines, would be a bad business arrangement". This cruise is supposed to be for my honeymoon. And I am thinking of demanding my money back and canceling. I need to speak to someone who is in charge of Wes. I am expecting a callback today. If not, I will continue to work my way up to get the situation dealt with.

Original Review: June 29, 2016
I booked through Cruises.com to save 75 over the Carnival site. I was concerned we would need to cancel for work reasons when I booked, and very specifically asked about cancellation fees. The lady I booked with said there was no cancellation fee, and only the cruise line cancellation policy would apply, and that the booking fee of $25 was non-refundable which I would lose. So I took her at her word, and placed a higher "refundable" deposit with that assumption.
Today I called to cancel, and the lady I spoke to today mentioned that there is indeed a $100 cancellation fee to Cruises.com, and that it said so on my invoice. Of course, once I went back and checked my invoice, that was indeed the case right below the cruise line cancellation policy. Of course the invoice comes after booking so... Maybe I shouldn't be as shocked as I am, but considering how specific my questions were when I booked I am still extremely disappointed. While they were quite friendly on the phone, blatant lies or really wrong information don't exactly sit well with me.

After reading the details, I qualify for the special military rates, reduced rates, free spending up to $200 and a free spa treatment if I upgrade to a balcony or suite. It was my understanding that I would receive those discounts with a deposit of $24.99 down and final payment received by December 7, 2012 for Royal Caribbean cruise in February 2013. When I booked, there was an icon that you clicked for information and when I clicked it indicated "Prepaid Gratuities" I booked the cruise believing that there were prepaid gratuities but when I got on the ship, I discovered there were no prepaid gratuities. I could have had a better price with [competitor], without the gratuities being paid, but I thought this was a better deal. Their website is very deceptive, and I will never book through them again. I had to pay all the gratuities myself which added about $75.00 to my total bill.

I booked a cruise with a special offer of prepaid gratuities plus onboard credit. I called to verify before booking. 2 days later, confirmation comes with a note for prepaid gratuities or onboard credit. I complained to "customer service," but I got no satisfaction. I received $140 onboard credit, but gratuities are $168 for the 7-day cruise--only out $28, unless you include the promised $140 onboard credit.
I booked with this agent instead of directly with the cruise line, because of the great deal. Caveat emptor, and get it in writing before you pay.

On 7/21/09, I spoke to Cruises.com salesperson "Morgan" regarding a Carnival Cruise. I specifically asked if the excursions to go whale watching were available. He asked me if my purchasing this cruise was contingent on this availability. I said it was. He put me on hold to check. He said he could tell me that the ship was definitely offering this excursion, but they would not tell me how many spaces were available until I completely paid for the cruise. I stated that since he told me it would be offered, I would go ahead with the booking. I paid in full.
I later was told by the Carnival excursion desk that whale watching is not offered during the summer months (not until December) and that if my agent had called them, they would have given him this information. I also asked about other details such as our dinner seating: I requested the late seating. Morgan indicated no problem with this and yet Carnival has us listed as "early seating waitlisted." Carnival told me that this is because the late seating is booked. They told me they could not assist me further because I was working with an agent and had to go through him.
I contacted "Morgan" the afternoon of 7/21. I was connected to voice mail. I stated I had an urgent problem and requested a call as soon as possible. It is now 7/22 at the end of the business day. I received no follow-up call. I continue to only get a voicemail message when I call Morgan. We are sailing in 11 days. It is reasonable that problems need to be solved now.
I called Cruises.com and asked to speak to a supervisor. The woman who answered, "Jenny," told me she is a supervisor. When I questioned this, she said she said she takes care of problems. I asked to speak to her supervisor. She said she had none. I stated, "I believe that there must be someone higher I could speak to." After considerable struggle, and receiving condescending and argumentative responses, Jenny stated that she would connect me to her "manager."
When I asked why she did not do this in the first place, she condescendingly began an "explanation" regarding the difference between "supervisor" and "manager." She finally said she would transfer me to her manager. After being put on hold for three periods of time, she asked for my telephone number so the manager could call me back (she once referred to the "manager" as "he" and then "she" which causes concern whether this person truly exists). I have received no return call.
