    Updated review: April 8, 2026

Updating my previous review, as they reached out and made the situation right by addressing my issues and providing an additional discount. I still believe they need to get rid of or retrain some of their staff to be more customer-centric.

    Original Review: April 7, 2026

Horrible customer service. I ordered nearly 11K worth of equipment from them, and went through over a week of issues waiting for order statuses, delivery estimates, and frustration dealing with reps who showed no care in the world about helping or resolving issues. They took my money day one, and spend over a week afterwards giving me run-arounds on status and delivery. Save the headaches and use a different distributor.

I bought six solar panels from ShopSolar and I did everything online. Their website was easy to use and the price was fair. I like the products I received but I haven't got them hooked up yet. I got all the panels up but I haven't wired them. Overall, I would recommend ShopSolar to others.

I had a bad inverter and ShopSolar replaced it after a lot of going back and forth. Because it was a DIY thing, the instructions were really difficult. I updated my batteries and I have been going back and forth with them. I had a version 1 battery and a version 2 battery. You have to find on YouTube how to make them compatible, because it shuts off. They need to supply a communication cable so it doesn't do that. There were other little things like that. They were just minor, but I bought this three weeks ago and I hope to start it up today.

ShopSolar was very supportive and interactions were really good. I had issues before and it ended up being the inverter. It took months for that to be figured out. They were relying on my inexperience and photos back and forth. A lot of times, I would get different information from different techs. When I first called about the compatibility of the different batteries, one lady said, “No, it's not compatible.” But all the websites, even EG4 people, said they were compatible. I had to go through a bunch of hoops.

That aside, the unit is an excellent system. I've been off-grid all summer, fall, and spring, mostly. I bought an extra battery to cover when it rains, so I'm hoping I'll be off-grid all the time. It's better because you're not dependent on the system. When everybody else's lights are out, mine aren't. You're not getting those big bills as well. Our bill is $1,000 to $1500 a month for electricity and it's gonna catch up because it's like in monopoly.

Overall, the unit is worth it. I like EG4. I looked at a DIY YouTube thing, and the guys there went through the EG4 and compared it to others. He really liked it. That was why I chose it. I just wish, instead of updating and getting rid of the old versions of battery, they would keep them for people like me so I don't have to go through this. In this new version, the manual talks about an inverter protocol. I’m like, “Okay. My other batteries didn't have this. Why do I need this? How do I do it?” I found that out through an independent YouTube search.

ShopSolar has been excellent and they try their best. They're so good and they're not rude. They try to explain things and go step by step. But they're growing faster than they can’t keep up. I started in 2023 with a small system and it was really easy to access them. Now you have to get a ticket. Right now, I'm going through the sales guy who must be new because he's getting all the information for me.

I'd recommend ShopSolar to a friend. But the instructions are really hard and they leave stuff out that you have to find. For example, to update the firmware on the batteries, I can use my old dongle for B1. I have to buy a new dongle for B2. The instructions don’t say that. And then I found out I don't have to upgrade the B2, but I was told I needed to. That's where they don't know either. I spent a lot of hours researching this. I tried to use my old dongle, which could have hurt the new battery."

The people that I talked to at ShopSolar were a whole lot better than anybody else. They got right back with me and I didn't have to wait for a week to get an answer to my questions. They were answered almost immediately. I had two or three of them work with me at one time. It made it a whole lot easier. Enrolling with ShopSolar was really easy. The people seem to be really good at what they do and were really helpful. The quote to the final cost was exact and a bit under budget.

I didn't expect to see it for two or three weeks, but the package was here within three days. It was amazing how fast the shipment was. The generator itself came a day later and another package with some wiring came a couple of days later. I purchased an 8,000-watt generator from ShopSolar. We're just now getting the solar panels up on the roof of the RV and run the wiring and it''s done.

At this point, I don't know how it's working because I haven't got it hooked up. My RV is one of those Mercedes sprinter camper vans. So I had to design a tip that would hold the system on to the luggage carrier rail that goes down there because the roof is a little bit rounded and it seems to be working pretty good. We're just installing it now.

We were going off-grid and we needed to have an alternate electricity source. ShopSolar’s videos and reviews of videos on YouTube made us choose them. Enrolling with them was easy. We did all our stuff online. Installation was very simple, too. There were videos. It has not been as good as we had hoped as far as getting enough energy, though. The panels do not pull in as much as we were told they would. We've had to upgrade a couple of times. It hasn't been as efficient as we had hoped on the get-go and more cost-prohibitive than we had realized it would be.

We won't do it immediately, but we are gonna end up having to pull power as a backup source. ShopSolar is great if you have the backup batteries, but these are extremely expensive. We either have to invest another 10,000 grand for backup batteries or we're going to have to swing power for $1,000. ShopSolar has been good, but they're just not sufficient for 100% living without really investing a lot of money and until solar becomes reasonable. Mathematically, it's really not a great alternative.

I bought a Jackery 5000 Plus from ShopSolar, plugged it in last night for the first time, and the power was very consistent. None of my lights flickered, it ran flawlessly, and it’s got a 5-year warranty. I previously bought another one from Temu, and it was a disaster. It malfunctioned from day one, and they just gave me hell trying to return it. When I called ShopSolar to ask questions, he was really friendly. So, I was able to talk to an actual person, which is not possible with Temu.

ShopSolar is a great company ‘cause they didn’t bombard me with extra ads, and even offered to help me design a solar system for free. That’s how you sell stuff.

I got solar from ShopSolar for my RV and shed. At first, it was just for my RV when I go to the boondock. Later, I looked for a convenient way to have power to the shed. It was cheaper to put panels, buy the battery and inverter, and generate energy on my own than running power. My main focus was things that I could do myself and not have to hire somebody to do it.

I was an electronic technician for 40 years, so electrical work is second nature to me. I never worked with solar before, but the concept and theories are pretty much standard. It was pretty straightforward and was just a matter of determining what I wanted or how much I actually needed and shopping for the components build it.

Now I’ve got solar panels on my RV and a solar setup in my shed. I got a 12 x 32-foot shed, and it’s running off of a 200 amp-hour lithium, a 1,500-watt inverter, and 600 watts of solar. I’ve had trouble with one of the batteries, though, where the battery management circuit is bad. Otherwise, my system works great.
