I had my GLP1 med since 2024. I needed the prior auth, to be expected, and went on my way. Now, 2025 and all the hype of a GLP1, Express Scripts has lost utter control and EVERYONE I speak to says they needed a NEW prior auth (even when they just obtained one for the new year) for their GLP1 and EVERYONE says it gets denied with the EXACT same reason. "No baseline BMI was provided by provider".
Even on these reviews people are saying the same thing. I KNOW my doctor gave you the baseline BMI not once, not twice but all 3 times they RESENT the prior auth. I ended up missing my injections for 4 straight weeks. Mind you I have been taking this for a year now! When my prior auth was finally appealed/approved, they BACK DATED my coverage saying it was approved on 2/25/25. I have screen shots showing I was still " pending approval until 3/5 but it magically disappeared from my profile online. When I informed them via email of false documentation, and my screen shots to prove it, someone quickly called me saying it was just a typo error. I did all the things and I have even had OMADA for a year as well, which has done nothing to help me except weigh me in and let me see my data. Express Scripts, stop with the GLP1 crap. Lies after lies.

Horrible and even more horrible, Express Scripts. That's the best way when summing up this drug mail order insurance company. I merely requested that they stop automatically placing and refilling a 90 days supply prescription order. Until I needed them via the selected manual ordering process. So what did they do? They've entirely cancelled my future 3 refills remaining on the authorized prescription! I mean, how stupid does it get with their incompetence?

Absolutely ridiculous. I have been informed to change my prescription to a 90 day prescription and change my pharmacy to Walgreens and here I am with Express Scripts suddenly only filling 30 days even though my prescription is 90 days cancer meds. Meds are being approved one min and the next they are denied. No one knows their job and can give any explanation. They love to tell you to call your pharmacy or the insurance just to end up back with them and still no explanation.

Terrible to work with and incredibly adept at not taking responsibility for keeping records. I'm waiting on co-pay assistance to go through, and in the meantime they are refusing to issue my medication and now are posting balance as overdue. Their answer was "can we get you to a pharmacist to talk about how not having your medication may affect you?" Seriously?

I really didn’t think that there was a worse pharmacy than CVS out there. Boyyyyyyyyy was I wrong. This pharmacy lies to you. Your medicine will easily take a week to “process” before they ship to you. Their reps will put you on on hold indefinitely. When my doctor's office found out my insurance was making use Express Scripts he was not happy. Said they have nothing but trouble with them.

If you can avoid them as your insurance provider do. They are terrible at keeping records, as well as denied a medication insurance does cover, even with a prior authorization. The year before it was covered. The people on the phone tried to say my doctor lied and that would have been how it was approved before.... Not true.

Terrible pharmacy. DON'T LET your doctor route scripts here! My Eliquis prescription was sent here, but they don't accept the Bristol Myers Squibb card that makes it nice and cheap at my local retail pharmacy. So, I told them I'd like to return the medicine to them. Well, it takes about a month to get a return authorization, label, and envelope. Luckily, I had a little over a month's worth of accumulated extra pills, so I thought I could make it through. Then, I had to contact my doctor's office to get the prescription submitted to my local retail pharmacy. After waiting about a week, my local pharmacy still can't fill it because Express Scripts is still showing that *they* filled it. They still haven't credited my account for the return. They are slow, sloppy, and incompetent, and this has real health consequences for real people.

This is by far the worst pharmaceutical company, unreasonable delays, unorganized, horrible customer service. I am starting MS treatment and have been waiting for my medication. I was told after an unreasonable delay that I would have it by Wednesday. It still didn’t come then I find out they still haven’t approved it yet. This company needs to be shut down, and I am recommending that my employer switched to another specialty pharmaceutical company.

They appear to have eliminated US customer service, that has always been bad. Now you can't reach anyone who understands the English language. There was an issue with my online payment. After 4 calls and being transferred to the wrong place repeatedly, I'm done with this sub-par company. CVS should be ashamed.

Others have expressed the poor customer service that apparently defines Express Scripts--I am just here to add the chorus. Having just waited 30 minutes on the phone to speak to a supervisor to expedite shipping for my meds because Express Scripts completely fumbled communication with my primary care doctor (and then wants to charge me for expedited delivery for their issues), I finally hung up. You all know the game, "yes, I'll get you a supervisor" but there's no one there to help. I watched my doc enter my prescriptions into his online system more than a week ago and today I make a series of calls just to get the systems to work; Express Scripts claiming that, in fact, they have my account by no prescriptions for me (when I can see the meds on their own online portal!). It's the definition of insanity and a marker of a company that serves an important role in health and simply doesn't care.

Express Scripts is a prime example of how not to run a pharmacy service. Their abysmal accounting practices, delivery issues, and negligent customer service make them a nightmare to deal with. Firstly, their accounting practices are beyond reproach. Despite paying over $600 for my order, it was inexplicably delayed because of some ancient $10 account issue that none of their so-called customer service agents bothered to mention in the past three months of my frustrating interactions with them. How can a company handling sensitive medical supplies be so careless with basic financial oversight?
Their delivery service is equally atrocious. Emails about current delivery statuses arrive late or not at all, leaving customers in the dark about when to expect their medications. When they finally do manage to ship something, it's a miracle if it arrives on time. If "Express" is in their name, it's certainly not reflected in their service — the only express thing about them is how quickly they dodge responsibility.
Speaking of customer service, their agents are a textbook example of apathy. They couldn't care less about the issues their customers face. I've spent countless hours on the phone with them, only to receive scripted apologies and empty promises. It's clear they prioritize profit over patient care, which is downright shameful for a healthcare provider.
In conclusion, Express Scripts should be held accountable for their negligence. They've failed miserably in providing the reliable, compassionate service that pharmacies should embody. If you value your health and sanity, steer clear of Express Scripts — they're more likely to cause you headaches than provide the medication you desperately need.

Started using ES because Walgreens was charging up to 4x's what ES would charge but I have been waiting for a new prescription since 2/11/25. Now, the post office is part of this nightmare because when they came to deliver the medication, they sent it back with a note that my house is vacant. So, now I am dealing with 2 huge businesses that don't have one brain between them both. I have called ES 2x's to resend the medication and each time I was given a different reason why the "refill" wasn't sent. I have called my doctor to see if they can help things along. I doubt I will ever use them again. I would rather pay more for the meds then go through this again.

This is the worst company I’ve ever used. A medication my DOCTOR prescribed has been denied by them FOUR times. Each time it was a different excuse and each time they said it is the doctor’s fault for filling out the prior authorization incorrectly. Also, although my doctor is very prompt with filling out ANOTHER prior auth Express Scripts takes a week each time. Every time I call, I speak to either a representative, pharmacist or supervisor I am told something different each time. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Ever. Avoid like the plague. They don’t care about customers. I feel like I’m being taken for a scam.

This is, unfortunately, the second time I have had to turn Express Scripts over to the Better Business Bureau. I am a Type 1 Diabetic who depends on OmniPod Pumps. I spent over an hour on the phone on a Friday to set up the 3-month installment program for a new Generation 5 OmniPod that communicates with my Dexcom Glucose Monitor. They informed me it was released on Friday and should be processed and arrive on February 27, 2025. On February 24th, I was notified of a problem with the shipment.
I called on Monday and spoke to a friendly representative named Kaitlyn, who looked into it and said it was because my credit limit is $500 on my card, and the total is over the limit. My total was approximately 1567 over three months. She said they needed me to authorize the 534.01, which I did. However, I was notified again that same day there was a problem. The following customer service person I talked to was not as understanding or as lovely as the first two. Her name was Kim. She told me I had said no to the mail order, which is a lie because I know it's a mail-order company. How else would I receive them?
Next, she told me it was because I had previously refilled my Dexcom at CVS. I responded with, "Dexcom is not Omipod. Why does that matter when your pharmacy is refilling Omnipod." Then she replied that sometimes, when the prescription is released, it's reversed due to insurance, and now what was a little over $1000. is now $1800. She also said that it got released and reversed twice. I wish I could switch to another pharmacy, but Teacher Retirement of Texas makes us use them with no choice or FREEDOM to choose! Now I know they can release it to billing and to be told it's going to be filled only to reverse it so they can charge retired teachers even more money.
I make $3000,00 a month from TRS of Texas, and I complained to them about this company the first time I turned them into Better Business Bureau. Still, they continue to think so poorly of their teachers that we deserve the worst medical and pharmaceutical companies. Unfortunately, I can not turn TRS over to BBB, but I will copy and paste them to my senators and legislators. I am so glad my daughter wants to be a lawyer to take on government officials and pharmaceuticals who want to do wrong by hard working Americans. When I die because I can't get my insulin pumps, I hope a successful law firm will take on her case and her as an apprentice.

Express Scripts is the worst. Constant delays in delivery lead us to start using a new pharmacy. After two months using the new pharmacy Express Scripts stopped allowing us to get more than a 30 day supply of our meds. Then after a few more months they started requiring prior authorizations for all refills, which slows down deliveries of critical medications. They should be investigated.

I'm on Insulin and am out but they are saying that it will not be sent to me overnight. This being Thursday 02-20-2025 and would be delivered on Friday 02-21-2025. Also spoke to a pharmacist and she informed me to call the department that has it and to them to expedite the order to have it shipped out today to receive it tomorrow.
The supervisor said she will follow up but cannot guarantee it to be delivered. So now I will be out on My Insulin for minimum 6 days because lack of concern for the patient's health and what to play doctor. Express Scripts was the last resort to get my insulin all my regular pharmacies were out of it and it was on back order, could not tell me when they would be able to get it. This is the reason I don't and can't trust mail order pharmacies, they don't care. I would not recommend Express Scripts at all. Accredo Specialty Pharmacy/Express Scripts delays shipping my medication because they are constantly putting my prior authorization forms and prescription referrals under an old health insurance account that should have been inactivated over 2 years ago. I have contacted the prior health insurance provider who reassured me, multiple times, that they reached out to Express Scripts to have that account closed.
This ineptitude has caused massive delays in receiving my medication in a timely manner. The last time this happened I spent over 1 month of constant communication speaking to representatives, managers, managers of managers trying to get my account sorted out to receive my medication in time. Recently they claimed that the prior authorization was submitted through my old health insurance account despite the fact that I have been using my new insurance for over 2.5 years!
They are grossly inept, unorganized and incapable of shipping an important medication out on time. I spend close to $2000 a month in health insurance and I have to call these clowns every 6 months when a new issue arises to fix a problem that is so simplistic but takes them eons to acknowledge or complete. How are they still in business when their business practices are incapable of keeping up with the most basic technology and causes this level of stress and frustration for patients who require their medication monthly?

I had to call local pharmacies to find it myself. Then it was the same med different manufacturer. I had to pay out of pocket. Twice my prescription was put in for the wrong amount of days (so it looks like i have more than I do) and I've spent literal hours trying to get them to fix it. For months this has been going on I am going to be out of my insulin Friday (it says they gave me 6 vials but really only 2 )... They might be able to fix it in the system by next week sometime then 3-5 days to ship.... Maybe. This is the 5th time in a month I've tried to resolve this. I have had Express Scripts for one and a half months now, since January 1, 2025. I have had two medications denied. First Rx I have been taking for over 15 years. It took 6 weeks for my doctor to repeatedly send in Prior Authorization paperwork and only when one dedicated employee at doctors office went above and beyond fighting with Express Scripts for two days, did my Rx finally get approved.
Second Rx, Zepbound, was DENIED due to “missing information from my doctor” on Friday, 2/14/2025. It has been under review since the first Prior Authorization documents were sent by doctor’s office on 2/5/2025. As of Friday, 2/14, four more faxes had been sent with required Prior Auth information. Express Scripts claims that they don’t have my BMI, but it was sent every time with the supporting documentation. I have been calling and messaging Express Scripts and my doctor everyday, several times a day the past 8 days. Spending all day on Friday, from 10:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. with constant contact trying to resolve before the weekend. I’m beyond despair and frustration. I was already a day behind on my weekly injection. Are they waiting for me to give up? Today is 2/16. I’ve already missed one dose and am so tired but I need my medication. I plan to be at my doctor’s office at 8 a.m. on Monday.
As an aside. Express Scripts changed their Rx criteria on 2/1/2025 and has teamed up with Omada. A weight loss tracking company ($$$) that sent me a scale to weigh myself weekly and it automatically transmits my weigh in to my “coach.” Big brother is watching. Scary stuff. The ironic part is that I have lost 44 pounds with Zepbound since August 2024. I just need to lose 16 more. But, sure, send me an expensive scale, pay a coach to check up on me and supply guidance and read up on different health topics. Plus, no medication until you sign up and then complete weekly tasks. I signed up and start my introduction with my coach tomorrow. Great, how about giving me my doctor prescribed medication now!

Today is 7 days since they received the prescription, and they still haven't even shipped it. They say allow 3-5 days for shipping. The inefficiency in most insurance systems is problematic at best. Express Scripts seems to find a way to compound the problem, making it more difficult to receive the medicine the physician has deemed necessary for treatment. About three days out, I started checking to make sure the script was on track and if there was available tracking information. Couldn't get tracking info but was still stating the prescription would arrive by the 6th. Today is the 6th and the script hadn't arrived. Called and was told it shipped today and would take 7 days.
Their focus to me was speaking to the pharmacist to make sure I knew the consequences of not having this medicine. I know the consequences! An insurance company who outsources their customer service to save money is genuinely the worst to deal with. People rely too much on life-saving medications for that to be delayed or denied by crappy service. I just overlooked a call with one of my patients who was made to repeat her issue to an express script rep over a handful of times. This rep was not listening and not trying to assist in any way whatsoever. After making her repeat herself for the 8th or 9th time, she requested a supervisor, and instead of transferring her to a supervisor like she asked, he transferred her back into the general queue. She ended up hanging up in frustration. New process for pre-authorization for GLP-1s going through a 3rd party called Omada Health. This required my doctor to request pre authorization 3 times, my pharmacy calling 3 times to try to get approval. A delayed response for coverage just for them to send me a stupid scale that I don't need. It has been over a month and I still cannot start the medication. Customer service doesn't not help, let the doctor know that there is another hoop that the patient needs to jump through, and is completely redundant. My doctor asked all of the same questions that this stupid app made me answer. This is just another way insurance companies have found to deny coverage to needed medications.

Long story short.. I was approved for Zepbound in August 2024.. With one refill until November 2025. When I went to pharmacy to obtain refill in January 2025, I was told the prescription was denied. After a dozen phone calls to my doctor, pharmacy, and Express Scripts, I was advised by Express Scripts that all PAs (Prior Authorizations) have been automatically expired as of 12/31/2024. (What)? Really. I was advised that my company implemented a new plan in which employees using specific medications must be part of the Omada Health plan. Again, What? Never received notification of this. I then joined Omada and completed the steps required (four weigh ins and four communications with a health coach)...And was still denied. This time, the excuse was that my doctor did not send in a specific BMI document (although the clinical questionnaire was completed successfully).
I've had to deal with Express Scripts for years (ever since Medco was either bought out by Express Scripts... Or my company moved plans to Express Scripts.... I can't remember which). I've had issues with obtaining Ambien for similar reasons. They seem to think they know my health/body better than my personal physician.... I try my best NOT to have any prescriptions automatically mailed to my house because Express Scripts is so unreliable. Then, when calling the 'call center' on 29 Jan 2025, I went round and round in the system for 38 minutes one time and over 60 minutes the second time. And then they wonder why the clients/patients are so frustrated once they do finally get to a 'real' person. I am sure the reps are tired of customers raising their voice in frustrations.

God, I pray you read the reviews before sending in your scripts like I unfortunately didn't! This has been the biggest nightmare of my life!! Please don't believe anything the first person you talk to on the 800 number because they tell you that you'll have your medications in 7 days. Hahaha. The only reason I sent all my scripts to them was because my local pharmacy has been on backorder for the last two months. And here's the thing that blows my mind, after 45 minutes of my doctor's time telling them why I took it, they overided his reasons and decided not to fill it! I actually talked to the pharmacist working on it and read him just a few things off of my MRIs such as severe chronic compression fracture on 3 of my vertebrae. My entire spine is messed up and I deal with severe chronic pain but that didn't make a difference!
They also have my other controlled substance which I'm out of today so it looks like I'm getting ready to go through withdrawals after taking them for years. I was told they were filled and ready to be shipped then when I just called they said they were filled this morning and couldn't tell me when they would be shipped! The middleman of the middleman. When you have used before Walgreens or other pharmacies, you are very surprised by the service level of Express Scripts. Getting a prescription refilled online, forced me to contact my doctor, and they say that it takes about 7 days to get a prescription refill but in reality 10 business days is a strict minimum. If you ran out because of the slow process, you can get your prescription expedited which still takes time and an extra fee. Also dealing with their IVR is a pain in the butt, calling Walgreens pharmacy and you get a life person in 3 minutes but with express scripts I spent 12 minutes with a machine and I had to repeat myself to an agent that I had a hard time to understand.

The people answering the phones are incredibly rude and impatient. The last "insurance specialist" I spoke with at ESSDS gave me a bunch of excuses and then left me hanging so 3 days later, I still have no idea what the status is of my medication (that I am currently out of and need to be able to function and work). The noise in the background is like a new year's eve party, there's hundred people laughing fooling around, talking absolutely so loud you couldn't possibly understand a conversation. Am 78 years old, it's not like I don't know what am talking about. The customer service people only help so much, then when they realize you're so pissed off from all the incompetence they start playing you, there's no doubt in my mind that's what they are doing, ask for a supervisor and you're in their domain after being on the phone 14 mins or more it's game on.
They put you on hold and wait another 10 mins if at all to come back, and if you're stupid enough not to figure out there is no supervisor they will play you for as long as it takes til you do figure it out, AND OH NY THE WAY THERE SI NO SURVEY AT THE END CO THE NIGHTMARE TRYING TO RESOLVE WHERE YOUR MEDS ARE. THEY couldn't answer any questions where are your meds but they keep repeating the same bul prompts they are taught, and no one can speak clear english, they can't pronounce your medications. So you can't talk, to them about anything important, they read from script, anything pass the script, it's a living nightmare.
I spend two 14 minute conversations and still have no answer to when or if my blood pressure meds area on the way or my blood thinner is coming. I would rather slide down a pole of razor blades than put myself through this nightmare again. Total waste of time, total time being played. If anything happens with trump being elected please don't allow our companies to use overseas people for anything. Communications are extremely poor and the people don't care. It comes across as a joke to them. Seriously. They don't care if things get resolved or not. You ask 4 times, "Where are you located," and finally they answer vaguely "Asia" ....I STILL AGER 1 Half hour on the phone with Express Scripts I STILL don't know if the meds are coming or not. It's such a good idea.
I am disabled and live in the country to have my meds delivered but you can't count on express scripts anymore to be competent enough to deliver at all. You could die in the meantime waiting. Very poor incompetent company. At one time maybe a 5 months ago it was a good company, not anymore, DON'T USED THIS COMPANY. IT'S NOT WORTH YOUR TIME OR MONEY AND VERY UNDEDEPENDABLE

We are new to Highmark/Express Scripts and can only give them a 1 star review. The reps we spoke with do not seem to be able to find exactly where your new Rxs are in the process. That makes it difficult to expedite an order once it is in the loop. People we spoke with gave incorrect answers and were lost once you asked something that is off script. Even the Supervisor. In addition, the normal process times are very slow so plan on giving them week’s notice when you send in a new Rx to ensure that you get it in time.
Expediting was horrible. Example: My wife paid $26 for expedited shipping. It is now 9 days since we were charged and it still has not shipped. Every time she calls to find out the status the ship date is pushed out. Also do not use automatic refill. I was told by Express Scripts that it does not start processing until the day the you would run out. Example: It starts to process on the 90th day after the previous shipment of a 90 day supply. In other words you won’t get it in time. It is better to go in 2-3 weeks before and manually refill it online. We were very disappointed in the service as compared to Geisinger mail-order who was very good. I had Express Scripts several years ago and they used to be good. We will be switching to Rite-Aid for our Mail Order business.

I have had to use Express Scripts for years because they are the mail order pharmacy for my Medicare D plans. I use them instead of local drugstores because most of my meds are $0 cost through ES and $10-$25 locally. Also they will send a 90 day supply and some drugstores limit you to less. But you pay for that saving in aggravation and hours on the phone. Sometimes you can go to their website and order a refill without talking to them, in which case the only problem is waiting 7-10 days for it to arrive. But if you need help from a human, you are in big trouble.
Here is some of what happens: 1 It takes several minutes to get through the auto attendant to an actual person. 2 When you get a person, they are in the Philippines, can't speak conventional English, don't understand what you are asking, and you can't understand half of what they say. 3 The rep knows only what's on the screen in front of her, is not familiar with drug names, person names, US locations, etc. 4. They get confused and put you on hold for several minutes while they try to read the notes in your record, ask others for help, or go to the bathroom. 5. They contradict what you were told a week ago when you called to check on a med, can't find a record of previous calls.
6. For anything even a little detailed, they have to transfer you to someone else, where you start over explaining what you need. 7. They will tell you a med is ready to ship, and then several days later call or text you to confirm your address, even if you only have one address on file. 8. If the med is a Schedule 2 substance like amphetamines, several more days will go by while a pharmacist ponders whether they should fill the order. You won't be told about this holdup unless you call again to find out whether the med has shipped.
9. During the day you can ask for a supervisor to expedite things, but supervisors encounter the same delays you do, waiting on hold to talk to someone and move things along. Their entire operation is designed to save money by using bottom-rung untrained staff and delaying as much as possible in the hope you'll give up and go to a local drugstore for your med.. As the sign says on the gates of Hell, Abandon hope, all ye who enter here.

I have to honestly say Express Scripts is the absolutely the worst prescription pharmacy I’ve ever encountered in my entire life. For this to be a part of Medicare it’s rather pathetic how none government officials has not stepped in to end this madness patients experience. I’ve never heard of a pharmacy that takes 7 days to process patients medications and another 3 for shipping. Who does that? I began having only two medications through Express Scripts just to familiarize myself, worse mistake I ever made. The one was on back order a while, every other pharmacies I use process patients' medications whenever the medication comes in stock automatically fills the medication. Not Express Scripts, patients have to continue calling them to inform them to fill the darn medications, if still out of stock patients has to continue calling day after day until finally in stock, most absurd rule ever.
If you have a prescription for a 90 day supply with 3 refills, while this was out of stock, couple weeks into it I call to check on the status just to be told my provider has to submit a new prescription, now remind you the one was submitted weeks prior. Had to reach out to my provider to send another script for some unknown reason, that was done and she called to find out what the heck is going on and why? Lord behold no one knew what she was even talking about and indicated no new prescription needed to be sent, now they’re sitting on two separate prescriptions of the same drug.
The one they began using, remember 3 refills and that one still on file. Many do not be aware if and when 0 refills are left. I was alerted approximately 12/29/2024 my prescription will be processed on 01/07/2025 it’s because it’s on auto refill. Check my portal to find out the status, still indicates the 7th…by the 10th did not alert its in process and when it would be shipped out.
I teleported Express Scripts to get an update, I be darn, told I have no refills and the last was delivered 10/2024. You think the morons had scene enough to call me. Tried telling me they sent out text messages informing me of no refills and my doctor has to issue a new prescription. I never received any of those messages, read off the telephone number, never even heard of that number, read off another number, how in the heck can you be so dumb and send it to my darn landline? Lastly read off my cell number which the same cell they’ve been submitting messages to from day one, all of a sudden they try and run this game on me? My brain works very well.
Was told when speaking to the rep a new prescription needs to be submitted, reached out to my doctor and within a hour she alerted me it was done. Next day I called back to check status, was to doctor hasn’t sent anything and they had tried sending a couple messages and failed to go through, claimed they also submitted a request and never responded, nothing but pure lies. I thought about it and realized I have that one prescription on file still.
I inquired about why can’t that be used if it’s not even expired? Rep so called checked and continued telling me I would need a new script, still not making scene why it can’t be used. I gotten so angry I had to end the call before I say something I’ll regret. Decided to call back many hours later just to be told the same bull over again, their very good at repeating the same crap over and over, have not one bit of sympathy for patients at all, your doctor still has not submitted a new script. Inquired about the old one again just for no changes.
Waited a couple days to call back for update, here we go again, same, same crap, the phone line was so staticky could not understand anything, 5 minutes trying to hear and the rep stated she will telephone me right back, oh I sure had her read back the telephone number, it was correct and I sat awaiting on that call back that never happened. 1-2 hours gone by still nothing.
Once again I’m calling back and had to go over everything again, this rep tried telling me they made numerous attempts to contact me and the call didn’t go through, now I see that’s now there lie and sticking to it, most ridiculous crap ever, again tells me there still awaiting on my doctor to submit a new script, of course through all this I’m out my medication, I asked again why can’t the one on file get used? She checked the system and says good question, puts me on hold a couple minutes. Comes back to tell me that prescription can be used and don’t know why it wasn’t and why I was told numerous times it can’t be used I needed a new one. This was to good to be true, you can’t trust anything they tell you, all they do is just lie and notice they do not document the important facts there supposed to, they will leave out much information to make it seem as we’re stupid.
I finally received a text stating my medication is in process, the length of time to process and delivery will be about 8-10 days, I’m already out of medication, you think they would offer a better solution since it was there screw up? Oh of course not, I had to request for a one time free 1 day courtesy shipment. Was given a very hard time for them to even except it and give it to me. Took much of me indicating all the crap I underwent. Finally agreed and stated I will receive my 1 day shipment. Just know I did not receive a text with that update of course, if I happen to call back to check, trust me, it will not be documented in the system anywhere.
Thank god I do not use this pharmacy for any other medications, down to only one and it’s only because my local pharmacy never has it in stock, none of my locals. As many complaints that patients submit, it’s a shame how people are treated, just because ones are disabled and low income, we don’t deserve this.

As a medically retired service member I use Tricare For Life and Express Scripts home delivery when receiving medications from local healthcare professionals in the Oklahoma City Metro area. On Dec 21, 2024, I called in a refill request, which was processed on the 24th. Since the prescription is a controlled substance it is important to track the package being delivered. The shipment left St. Louis, MO and went to Irving, TX completely bypassing Oklahoma. From Irving, TX the package went to Kansas City, MO again completely bypassing Oklahoma. From Kansas City, MO the package went once again to Irving, TX and again bypassing the Oklahoma City Metro post office.
The package sat at the Irving, TX post office from 05:06 on the 27th of Dec until approximately 13:20 on the 28th at which point it was processed and began the trip to the Oklahoma City Metro Post Office and eventually arriving at the Choctaw, OK post office for delivery to the final destination where it belongs on the morning of the 29th of Dec. While it is a known fact that USPS has a long standing history of slow delivery service one must ask why are prescription drugs or anything for that matter being sent on a “Tourist Route” as though the package needs to see the countryside before arriving to the final destination? There is clearly “No Reason” why the package could not or should not have been delivered to the address on the label by the 26th of Dec. 2024.
If Express Scripts is using DHL who in turn uses USPS to deliver critical medications to retired service members is this not a major reason for the lost, delayed and damaged delivery of such packages? The question of concern is “why is there a middleman involved at all?” The more people or machines that come into contact with something the higher the chance for the item to be lost, stolen, or damaged. Why put the prescriptions needed by retired military service members and their family members at risk. Express Scripts' comment by a customer service rep of “not my problem” rather says a lot about what has happened this week in this particular case. The Elf on the Shelf Tourist Route of delivering prescription drugs to retired service members says a lot about Express Scripts, DHL, and the USPS process and customer service. That is one Naughty Elf.

What a horrible company and customer service. Was told they would change my prescription shipping to 1 day. $26 extra which is no big deal. Noticed later that night on the app that it had not changed to 1 day shipping once it was ready. Called in to find out what's up. The customer service person said it was too late to change to 1 day shipping. I asked this person if it showed on the notes that the earlier person said it could not be changed to 1 day shipping for $26 and they said yes, the DID say it could NOT be changed to 1 day shipping for $26. At the end of the call I was asked to stay on the line for a quick survey. I said yes, I would love to take a brief survey. They said happy holidays. Then the call mysteriously disconnected and I was not able to leave a brief survey. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.

They will constantly tell you they have repeatedly reached out to your doctor's office and don't get a response, or they need a prior authorization (which you just got), etc. NOBODY in their company cares. I would be willing to bet that they get a kickback from the insurance company for every prescription they don't fill. They are now saying they didn’t receive it when I was on the phone with the doctor’s office when they sent it in. I’ve even had the NP at my doctor’s office read off the exact dates and times prescriptions were sent and I can see it in my online portal. The only reason I’m even using them now is because I can’t readily get the medication locally.
Now, the doctor’s office is closed for the holiday and Express Scripts is saying if they don’t get the prescription by December 1, they won’t fill it. Mind you December 2 is a Sunday! What’s worse is talking to one operators is seven more frustrating because they are like robots who literally read from a script no matter the issue. Zero ability to think independently. My doctor has had to call them to do prior authorization because their online portal doesn’t work for him, when he calls he gets the run around then I call and they say they haven’t even heard from my doctor and during all of this I’m going without diabetes medication because they can’t get it together but they’re “so sorry”. No, they don’t give any care whatsoever to patients who could end up in the hospital without this medication but what do they care as long as they’re getting their money from you right!? I think I will avoid using them from now on, I’d rather pay more than go without medication!!

I have been trying to get a medically necessary prescription from Express Scripts mail-order for 2 months. I ordered a prescription in September and they said that they needed to reach out to the doctor which they did and the doctor approved it. In October they sent me an email thanking me for the prescription. I assumed I would get the prescription shortly thereafter because it had been a month since I ordered it. They then cancelled the prescription without telling me. I had to reorder it from them. They said it would arrive on November 7. On November 6 I got an email saying it would be delayed another 7 business days. When I called them they were rude and could not care less that I did not have my medication for a neurological disorder. It is now November 9 and they claim that I should have it by November 14. Do not do business with them if you actually need your prescription drugs.

I spent four hours on the phone with them Friday night (had to miss my son's basketball game) after they inexplicably delayed my script renewal. They were sent a brand new one and I was told the delay on it would be lifted within 48 hours. Well here it is Monday morning and I have been on hold for over one hour. The cowards won't even pick up the phone! My script is still in delay mode--I am due to run out of my thyroid med. Express Scripts is without a doubt the worst company I have ever had to deal with in my life. So many people are counting on their medicines to keep them alive and Express scripts seems to take joy in sending them late, canceling them, and not sending them at all. I went through this many times with my 93-year-old father. Express scripts would always tell me that his doctor canceled the prescriptions but of course that wasn't true. They would cancel every one of his 20 prescriptions every time with no notification to his doctor or him or me. Over and over again I would have to have his doctor send send the prescriptions in. Often times Express scripts would cancel that prescription the same day. Worst company ever!

I'm a 65 year old with 52 years of diabetes type 1. On my HMO plan, I was lead to believe they use Express Scripts. My Endocrinologist writes a prescription on Oct 16th 2024, After my much prodding by phone, because I was out - And sends it off to express scripts via the fax and check-up by Phone numbers provided by them to/from me during my inquiries to get the medication, because I was out of the medication and needed it URGENTLY - As of this date of review, "They" (Ex - hold the - press Scripts) now claim they didn't get it until OCT 24, although for every other day (3 or 4 days if after a weekend) I check up on it (often with a supervisors, then Managers AND then with pharmacist's help - or hindrance, depending on one's view of the matter). They continue assuring me it will be shipped soon after a short inquiry/investigation.
Last week on Friday I was told there is no previous history of me using the medication with them and they can't reach my doctor for info on the prescription (I.E. Have I used it before?) and pharmacists are overriding a Doctor's order??? And not shipping it out??? I've used it for at least 6 years, but have they not heard of samples? Drug manufacture's programs for low income? Other Pharmacies?, I even had another doctor and he retired since I started it, but that doesn't matter? P.S. I couldn't even get ahold of my Endocrinologist (She is the ONLY one in my large HMO and is overbooked, she doesn't return phone calls, and I know that because I had left messages for her to call) so I went to the office to finally got to talk to the Head nurse working for her - So that was last Friday and supposedly it's all resolved and was to be ship out URGENT that day via Overnight delivery because it is a refrigerated Medication...
On Monday eve, Yesterday, I called because there was no delivery (4:45 PM). I'm told they "don't ship on Fridays, BUT it did ship on Monday and I should get sometime tomorrow (Tuesday)... Or the next day", (I now don't believe anything by them.) PSS - Overnight takes two days after being shipped??? If I get the Medication soon, I might continue to live... Some Diabetics have died from long delays of their meds.
I am now seeking a new place to get my meds from. I will never use them again. I have to wait for them to give me THIS medication because my HMO won't allow another order to be dispensed elsewhere while I still have the alloted days of an order "sent to me" having unused amounts still left to be used. This ties me up for 3 months from getting a refill of my medication. (It's actually 84 days, they (and the drug company) rip you off a week for every 3 months supply, which ads up to be a month - 28 days - after a year's order.) - It's now 6 AM 10/29/2024 - 13 days of waiting and still counting. Going to notify Medicare next.

My provider never had an issue processing prescriptions with prior insurance but since interacting with Express Scripts the prescriptions never make it to Express Scripts apparently even though they've been sent multiple times. Then Express Scripts fails to update with the new information, so when it's time to refill, we have to start from the beginning.
It's hard to understand service reps as English is not their first language. And packages are shipped in bags so they regularly are delivered crushed and sometimes unusable. I truly believe this company was created to make it too difficult to use so we're forced to purchase our prescriptions from a retail company not covered by insured just for survival.

They take your premium, offer you nothing in return. If my review isn’t enough to warn you off this company, just read the particulars of the Federal Trade Commission lawsuit against them for inflating insulin prices to boost their profits at the expense of vulnerable patients. Beware. Avoid at all costs. Express Scripts does not manage your prescription for you. They make you do the work. They say that "they haven’t heard from your physician so you have to call your physician and ask him or her to submit information on your prescription". Another tactic is they say the pharmacy can’t fill the prescription amount or dose requirement and request you to figure out how to change the dose or frequency or amount. Finally when you the customer have complied with all their requests they will tell you they can’t ship to you. Physicians and patients are fed up with Express Scripts experience. Express-Scripts is just bad at least when it comes to filling payee's prescriptions — I'm sure they're great at overpaying their executives and share holders...I have yet to have a prescription to be filled correctly on the first try. My company switched almost a year ago and every member of my insured family has had problems with prescriptions getting filled via multiple physicians...btw every physician I'm referring to — six in total, literally say they hate dealing with this company and especially their subcontractors Senderra and Accredo....
Very coincidental that so many doctors in different practices and specialties all seem to have problems with ES. Number one problem — prior authorizations. Dr. orders prescription and ES needs prior authorization, okay sure — from who? The Dr. that prescribed it? ES? No matter who is actually authorized to provide the prior authorization, ES will deny all prescriptions, for medications known to mankind — even when ES is providing the prior authorization. It is a surreal experience — denying your own pre-authorization.
Our company used OptumRx for nine years and never had one issue getting prescriptions filled either in person at a local pharmacy or mail order. Literally every prescription my family has tried to get filled since having to switch to ES has been a nightmare. The conditions I'm being treated for have all deteriorated simply because I cannot get the medications filled in an appropriate amount of time according to my prescription guidelines from my physicians... I could literally go on and on about the incompetence or wishful neglect this company demonstrates on a monthly basis.

Like everyone else here, my experience has been TERRIBLE! First, they notify me that a prescription I am on has alternatives available which are more affordable. Great! So I notify my doctor and she calls in for the cheaper medicine. I go through 180 days on this new med and ES notifies me that it is no longer going to be a covered med effective 1/1 and recommend two alternatives. One of the alternatives was the previous RX I was using, so I notify my doctor to call in the previous med for me. This morning I get a notice that the RX they advised is a covered alternative to switch over to needs a PA or my doctor will need to submit a PA for a RX that is covered on my plan! If this alternative medicine isn't on my plan why are you suggesting it!?! Nothing but RX juggling games from them!
Next, my son has a rage side effect with an ADHD med, so his pediatrician called in a different RX. He is doing fantastic on the new medicine. ES has been pushing for my son to go back on the other medicine that caused him to rage (assuming because it's cheaper), which I have rejected doing because of the side effect. Then, with his latest refill of the RX that works, they rejected at the pharmacy. The pharmacy notified me and the doctor office of the rejection. No notice from ES at all about needing a PA. The doctor office completed the PA paperwork to get that process going. Had the pharmacy not notified us, we never would have known that ES rejected the refill.
If ES is going to move to a PA business model then just do it! Stop rejecting refills, stop telling your customers to switch their RX only to end up rejecting the alternative fill without a PA. It is a complete waste of time for me and my doctor's office. Not to mention the delays in getting medicine filled which can cause a gap in medicine coverage since ES has up to a week to review the PA's that come in from the doctors, or that they flag for a PA, and provide their response back. Finally, they need to communicate back to us when they reject our refills so that we understand what is needed to get our medicine filled.

Nearly two years of dealing with this incompetence. Let’s start with prescriptions that don’t show up - we can blame the mail for a few of them - but not all of them. Most recently a prescription was ordered by my doctor - then not processed. Upon reaching out to the Dr’s office it was reentered and I called confirming its delivery date as I was leaving town again (I travel extensively for work), I was assured it was arriving that day by Fay. Well one of them arrived - just not the correct one. Now I have to come out of pocket again and wait hours on a CVS to fill it last minute. The best part is the one I paid for will be sitting on my porch for 3wks as Halloween children come looking for candy. Hopefully no children are harmed by Express-Scripts’ inability to provide basic timely service.
ES has a 100% failure rate over the last two years attempting to fill two very common and inexpensive prescriptions. It has cost me hundreds of dollars and hours of my time on the phone with after hours answering services and waiting in pharmacy lines (several times in other states or countries) trying to get my prescription. Their latest excuse was that “the system” canceled my prescription - and they claimed they called the doctor's office (I will be asking for a record of that call via subpoena if necessary). Express Scripts and their employees are liars, and ‘the system’ is designed to protect itself - not the patient. The system are the employees - like Fay, Amber P, and Elizabeth - all whom I’ve spoken to - all of whom are culpable for these failures. I plan to find out who countermanded a doctor’s order and hold that person accountable as well.
I realize ES is a mega company with huge market cap and a pretty big legal department. My goal is to extract my pound of flesh and make it cheaper for you to do the right thing for your customers. This is matter of principle now. I just made you my pet protect and I’m looking for some hungry lawyers who will do what they do best.

This was proven when I got my Diabetes med which cost me $128 at CVS. The problem is though I wanted to use ES but due to the oh so common glitch they have refused. I added an advantage plan that does not include pharmacy in it. It is actually geared around tricare and is tricare approved. ES has been trying to force me for many months to acknowledge I have something I don't. When logging it they push to have me click on the iI have OHI with Pharmacy. I have sent ES copies of the plan showing I do not have it.
I have contacted them by phone and the people only respond with just go to the CVS. I filed a BBB complaint and got a single call with message from a Michael ** at corporate. Since it has been so much trouble and I can't but to feel they are abusing me I have sent them a Hippa violation request to remove their access to my medical records. Thinking that is where they got the info on my advantage planned and hoping to move them forward to fixing this.
I have called back multiple times and after three weeks still has not received a callback. I could go on but the fact is ES has terrible customers service, poorly trained individuals. Discrimination against seniors and veterans like me seems to be part of the ES culture. Attached is the plan from UPMC showing medication is not covered and ES notice to me showing they want me to change., Notice the one with the DOD shows saving the dod is greyed out to save so the only option from ES is to force me off of my government plan

I wish ES's software would allow CSRs to take care of this issue without me having to escalate it every time, but to be fair, a large part of the issue is USPS. Even when a signature is required, USPS often leaves the package on my porch and notes "package handed to recipient" which is untrue of course but there's nothing I can do about it. The long and short of it is, it's frustrating that this issue keeps coming up and there should be an easy way to resolve it, but both times I've escalated the matter here, Express Scripts has fixed the issue within a day, so I give them a lot of credit for doing so.

I’ve been denied my asthma medication so many times now. I’ve been without it for two weeks now. Last time was six weeks. They want me to give up and either stop taking it or pay myself. They do not care. The Worst.

They are horrible! I fight with them constantly to get my diabetic medication which they never approve! They are unsafe and vial! I would go anywhere else if I had a choice! The FDA needs to investigate them thoroughly!

My doctor prescribed testosterone to me on 9/19/24, it is not 9/24, I have been on this medication for a while but changed my pharmacy to Express Scripts for less stress. Any gap in my meds will cause damage. I was born female. Express Scripts decides not to give me my meds because it does not align with my sex at birth. This is blatant discrimination against trans people! This pharmacy, no pharmacy at all, has the right to withhold any medication from a patient, regardless of the pharmacy's prejudices! Not only did Express Scripts cause mental and physical damage, they also have false advertising for a "stress-free prescription delivery." Not only are my meds going to be more than 2 weeks late, but I have experience emotional trauma and the absence of the meds is physically affecting my health. I cannot believe that any business would act so grossly.

My employer requires we use this company and it is absolutely the worst company. I am required to use mail order and have to fight every three months to get my prescriptions on time. They are on auto refill and get denied every month for “ordering too early” or “no refills” when their own website lists 3+ refills every time. I end up going 1-2 days without medicine.

Been trying to get a prescription refilled for 2 months now and have made 4 phone calls to Express scripts and still my auto-order gets pushed out to the next month. I have ran out of meds two times now and had to physically got to my local Right Aid and get an emergency refill. Although the representatives were polite, the process is kind of like our current government, HORRIBLE!!!!

The automated phone system has a hard time understanding what you are asking it to do, especially when you ask for customer service. It keeps saying you need help, then trying its best to not transfer you to customer service and help you itself when it's not capable of helping you. It's very frustrating. The most frustrating aspect of Express Scripts is that they keep dropping my inhaler brands. When I find one that works, a few months later they stop covering it so I have to find a new inhaler that works.
In the last year and a few months, I've had 4 different inhalers, 3 of which have worked. All 3 that have worked, they have stopped covering. I now have 2 options left, according to the pharmacist at Express Scripts. I don't know what I'll do when they stop covering those or if they don't work. I guess I'll have to use one that doesn't work or I'll have nothing to use. The only reason why I gave them 2 stars is because their customer service is kind and patient, their pharmacists are knowledgeable, and their mail order and automatic refills are convenient.

Worst prescription company I've had in my 60 years of life. Am forced to use them for a full year. At 3 months in, they withheld my diabetic medicine 10 days claiming needed prescription. I shifted and dashed through many phone calls, doc requests, wrong paper, calls to them again, and finally got my medicine. 3 months later? They withheld it for three weeks. Dangerously high sugars, incompetent communications. 7 phone calls and for 6 of them they talked to me like a child about needing preauthorization. I called doctor, called nurses, sent papers saying they authorized the medicine.
On 7th phone call, already late on my medicine now, the lady said i needed their authorization form. Omg! Verging on criminal in my book. So they sent it to the doctor.. who never got it. They sent it to the wrong city. They tried again. Failed. I asked for a copy in email and then I sent it to my doc. Doc faxed it back to express scripts. Took me days to verify they got it. Then they told me it would take could take up to a Month to review. Frustration doesn't even cover my exasperation and disgust for the handling of my medicines. I only hope they don't stop filing my meds if this is read before the last fill up.
As of now, two of my meds have been archived; I still take them daily and have not been notified as to why, or even told they archived them. 1 says it is out of refills when it had plenty to get through the year. Pretty sure the other did too but I guess it's time to waste hours with people on phone at Express Scripts who work very hard to not understand you and tell you the exactly wrong thing to do the first 6 times. Yay me. Just say NO.

I am forced to use Express Scripts. A medication that I received was damaged. Due to the excessive heat each pill was stuck together. I was told they only allow dry ice when they know it will be delivered during extremely high temperatures. They offered to refill the prescription but they will not allow dry ice unless I am willing to pay 26 dollars for shipping. Terrible customer service.

If you want to spend hours on hold where you are passed around from agent to agent, department to department, receive totally different information from each and every person you talk to, while never getting your prescription or matter resolved, this is the pharmacy for you. They've wasted my doctor's time, the pharmacists time, my time, and they have no idea what they're doing. Transfer from the prior authorization department, to the pharmacy services help desk, to member services and then start that process all over again two more times while you're on the same call.
The worst part is I'm forced to go through them for approvals and overrides as they are tied to my insurance. I spent over an hour on the phone with them today, with my pharmacy tech on the line, and after over two hours and (4) separate calls, they still couldn't resolve the issue which equals no medication. How is Express Scripts still in business? This is so far beyond a customer service issue. This is an incompetence issue and a lack of proper training of their staff.

Was told medications would not be sent unless I authorize the refill. One time a medication was sent that I no longer took. Another time refill sent without authorization as I was leaving one address and going to another. Of course the customer service people stated I authorized. Absolutely, did not. Not sure as of today where the pills are. I wrote an official complaint. The email that was sent back to me regarding the complaint had nothing to do with the actual problem.

ZERO stars!! This is the worst pharmacy I have ever encountered. It's difficult to get through the prompts to talk to someone and when you do they have no clue. These are not pharmacy technicians and clearly have no medical background at all. All they can do is read to you what's in their screen. They are trying to force me to use their "specialty" mail order service for my ** injections when I used to get them from my regular pharmacy with my previous insurance. They raised my copay to $160 for a 30 day supply as a penalty for not using their specialty pharmacy and did not Even notify me this will happen. I found out when I went to pick up my medication yesterday and spent an hour on the phone with a representative only to be taken in circles and told in the end I have to use their specialty pharmacy.
I don't want to use their specialty pharmacy because when I spoke to them previously they said I would need a new script every month sent in from my doctor and I have to call for that because they don't save refills in file, and I have to call them each month to request the medication be filled. It won't be done automatically! This is unacceptable to me as I need my medicine daily to prevent blood clots. Nobody should be forced to use that type of pharmacy! I also previously had issues getting my ** refills. I have a script with them and placed automatic refills but suddenly they were skipping Fills on me and telling me it's too soon!

My doctor has been trying since February to obtain a prescription I desperately need. The forms were completed correctly and the prior authorization was denied. My doctor submitted another PA and stayed on top of the PA but was told a decision would be made in August. The PA was again denied in August for no valid reason. I submitted an appeal by fax and when I called was told there was no appeal on file. I have a certification that the fax was received. I called again and was told that the requirements for the medication had changed, and that the doctor needed to submit a new prior authorization, and that it would be approved. So now it will be another 60 days so closing in on 8 months to get medication to save your life.
My husband is a retired military officer and has given me a contact at the Defense Health Agency Office of the Inspector General. Keep in mind I have emailed, faxed, called, and written to Express Scripts, and to date, no one has replied. My doctor should have to send in one PA, it should not take 60 days to review, and it should be Express Scripts' job to make sure you get the medication you need.

One word....HORRIBLE! Not recommended. They have a 'Bot" system for help that is the worse. And when you ask for customer service, the system transfers you to another 'Bot' that keeps asking you the same thing ("how can I help you?") then it hangs up. Also, don't order from Express Scripts unless you want to wait a month to get your order. Again, STAY AWAY FROM THEM!

My job wants us to use Express Scripts, but they suck big time. They are super slow, taking like two weeks or more to get basic meds. They also have problems filling my med that I take 8/pills per week instead of 7 which is not unusual for this med. They can't get it right. They delay things to "talk to the dr" but don't let you know for a week+, meanwhile you need your meds. I'll be taking scripts elsewhere.

Prescription lost in the mail and their solution was to refill in 7-10 days AND I pay the copay again. Explanation, “it’s our policy.” After 90 minutes and speaking with 2 supervisors they authorized 7 pills at the local pharmacy providing I get my Dr to do a prescription. Unacceptable and uncaring. I hope my Medicare Part D company drops these guys for 2025.

They are the absolute worst. The "preauthorization" and "under review" crap is out of hand and get the run around when calling with hours of time on phone to have nothing resolved. I was hung up on after being put on hold only to have to restart process all over again! Ridiculous!!!

They didn't get payment I guess last time, they didn't send me anything about it. I ordered my insulin as normal and found out they double billed me! Called them and they said, "We only see one charge here." My bank said there is two charges, so I only had enough for my insulin in my bank to cover my charges, because she said, "It's a glitch, your bank posted it twice!" Needless to say they came back and took both charges, they didn't e mail - call or text me to let me know. Then when I called the lady acted like it was all my fault. The issue is, had you spoken to me about this I would have had the money in my account. Not telling me anything and taking money that I didn't have caused me an over draft charge. Acting like it was my fault? Communication is key people! Lying and saying we only see one pending charge was a total lie!

Rude, Rude, Rude. They could care less about the patients. You are better off going to a Pharmacy and picking it up yourself. Here is an Idea. Get humans to answer the phone. Our office will no longer use Express for any reason in the future.
