This is why Amazon is so strong and Macy's is a dying store. I will NEVER shop at Macy's again.

Macy’s advertised The North Face luggage at 50% off ($175 from $350), but when added to the cart the price returned to $350. Customer service refused to honor the advertised price. This is misleading pricing.

Macy's promotes having everything you never knew you needed, INCLUDING PATHETIC CUSTOMER SERVICE. Yep, NEVER EVER SHOPPING AT MACY'S AGAIN. Have been a loyal, platinum customer for over 20 years having spent thousands and thousands of dollars on everything...furniture, clothes, gifts, jewelry, bedding, perfume, and more.
Yesterday I spent a good hour researching down comforters, finally decided and ordered. This morning they emailed saying the two orders had been cancelled. When I called, I was told that I would not be able to shop online but would have to do further shopping in the store. No explanation, like that's it. I pressed (loudly) and was told "there is a verification issue" and flat-out will not tell me why. I have perfect credit, ZERO issues anywhere with fraud, pay my bill off in advance and even overpaid last month and have a credit balance. Filed a complaint at BBB, writing scathing reviews everywhere. I am livid.

I bought a pair of boots online, they were very uncomfortable, I brought them back to the store for a different pair or a credit and they told me that they couldn’t accommodate me, it’s their new policy? I feel like I have been taken advantage of and robbed of my money. I am very disappointed and will never be a customer at Macy's again after many years of shopping there. ☹️

If I could give zero stars I would, but it won't let me... I will NEVER shop here again. Spent over 5 hrs (no joke) on multiple calls with folks from customer service, credit dept, account management, digital services, and 'supervisors' just to attempt to purchase a suit for my 13yr old son and have Macy's honor a sale price and discount from using their credit card. Everything that everyone told me was untrue, either outright lies or incompetence and often conflicted with what the previous person told me (everything is fixed, we have inventory, we'll call you back, we can place that order and honor the discount, and on and on).
Multiple calls all with people that were VERY hard to understand and did not listen (or understand) much of what I said, and on the final call literally spoke to 5 different people none of which could actually address the issue or even seem to comprehend what the issue was. They kept repeating back the problem, but never an actual solution or any options to resolve the issue. I actually presented 3-4 potential ways to handle it, but they either could not comprehend or chose not to... It's very obvious to see why they continue to close stores, lose customers, lose sales and revenue, lose trust, receive poor customer reviews, and will most likely be out of business within the next few years. Absolutely horribly managed fiasco of a 'business'...

On Valentines day my wife and I stopped by the flagship store on 34th. I kind of knew there was going to be a bad experience because the doors were jammed half opened. We were greeted by a man wearing a mask at the door. We walked in the jewelry section and all of the employees seemed to be in private conversations with each other. We sat by the counter and no one approached. Some even seemed to walk away and avoid eye contact. It's unfortunate because I wanted to get my wife a gift and she wanted something from this store.
Department stores are not what they used to be and one by one they are going away not because of consumer shopping but because customer service has suffered so much consumers would rather shop from home. Last year we visited the same store and had a better experience. It was in different sections of this store. The store in Brooklyn closed recently and one thing 34th and Brooklyn have in common is customer service going downhill.

I have been a customer of Macy's for years. I have not had an issue with customer service until January 2026. I paid my account off (or thought I did) January 12th 2026. I pay my bills through my bank account using "Bill Pay". I have never had an issue until January 2026 when I noticed my account was not at zero and had a late fee attached. I called customer service not realizing it is outsourced to another country. My calls were dropped, I was put on hold only to have the representative never pick up the call again. I have requested supervisors only to have the call dropped. I have been working on this for weeks now. The payment I sent in January went out (from my bank) as a paper check. I have made payments this way to Macy's for a long time. The address for the payment to be sent to is correct.
The process to resolve an issue that isn't that complicated is ridiculous.

I purchased a Sterling Silver necklace for a Christmas gift. It has been worn 3 times. She put it on this morning and it’s chipped in a corner and is black. I called customer service and they offered me $20 as the return policy was 30 days. It was on holiday sale from $200 to $70. If they won’t refund me at least provide a replacement. Very dissatisfied and will not shop at Macy's again.

I ordered a perfume (Jimmy Choo) from Macy's online. Got my package, I opened everything seems good but oh surprise when I opened the perfume box I just saw a half empty bottle of bath bomb powder. I chat with, called them to let them know that someone in their warehouse is stealing from the customers replacing the cheaper things and they didn't care. I will not recommend to buy anything from them unless you want to risk it.

I was horrified at the anti-baby friendly environment in Macy's department store at the Mall of Louisiana today. We were having a visit with my son's son and his mom and grandma and the baby was upset so we found a little spot in macy's by the elevator where it was quiet to get him calm, feed him, change him, etc … Debra the Macy's employee working the furniture area upstairs apparently didn’t like the baby crying, it disturbed her quiet. So she called security and I quote “to go outside and do our visit elsewhere” even after we told her we was just there for a little bit cause he was upset. There was literally no one in that back corner of the store, we weren’t hurting anything. Wasn't even there for 30min. Just wanted a little quiet for a little while before we went back to shopping or went home.
(Please note at the time it was storming outside and freezing. We were trying to wait until the rain slowed a bit to leave.) Horrible employee or maybe just a horrible person, probably both. Don’t think I’ll be purchasing from Macy's anymore. Severely disappointed, but on the bright side JCPenney didn’t have a problem at all with us in the store just browsing and hanging out.

My son bought me a Tommy Bahama shirt for Christmas and I had one... So I took it back today (Jan 20) - it still had all the tags on it and wasn't even unfolded or ever out of the package. It was listed at $119.00 and they offered me $19. I was livid... The manager said since I didn't have the actual receipt (it was a gift) it probably went on sale for a day and that was the price they would give me - a little over 1 tenth of the list price. After spending tens of thousands of dollars there over the years (I have 3 children who helped) this was the treatment they give their solid customers. What gall! They probably do that with everything - day after Christmas they put everything on sale for 25% of the price for a morning so they can screw all their customers with returns. After this blatant rip off, I would never go back to Macy's - ever.

I ordered a cologne from Macy’s online in October 2025. The item was never delivered, and as of today, January 20, 2026, I still have not received a refund. Ordering online has been a complete disappointment. I didn’t receive my item, and I haven’t gotten my money back.

I'm a busy mom of 3, never have time for anything... esp. leaving this type of review out of my busy schedule... BUT, I'm urged to share my recent experience so everyone can be aware! They had a special sale on men's suit so I had bought it as a gift for my nephew overseas just in time for his graduation events. The ordering process wasn't easy either with the order not going through, though the website clearly showed the item being in stock. I should have stopped there and then to avoid all the hassle and losing my money & time on this, but as a long-time Macy's customer, I trusted the name "Macy's" behind the order, but boy was I wrong! The order was shipped to a friend within the states who happened to travel overseas to where my nephew lived. It was a gift, so the suit (jacket + pants) was delivered to my nephew in an unopened bag as it was shipped.
Then to everyone's surprise, when the bag was tore open, there was only a jacket, and no pants! I was so embarrassed that a gift sent all the way to overseas, that was even purchased from a well-known department store, had such significant error to it. To make things worse, I had to spend days trying to get connected to their customer service to inquire about such mistake, only to hear that I had to return the wrongly sent jacket back to them in order for them to re-send the correct item or to provide a refund. I explained the situation that the order was already at overseas and I had photos proving how the pants were missing, but they did not budge and would not cover international shipping cost when it wasn't even our fault that their order was not sent to us correctly.
To make the story short, I couldn't find someone to bring it back to the states, and I was not going to pay for the international shipping cost out of my pocket without them reimbursing it, so I had no other option, but to dispute the charge, but even without asking for further info or any proofs that I had claimed that I have, my credit card company just denied my dispute request, so I ended up not getting any refund nor compensation for all the time I had put into this, and my nephew stuck with a jacket without any matching pants for his graduation. A lesson learned for me at a high cost/time/energy... Never shop at Macy's again. Too bad they've lost a 30-year-long customer who believed the name Macy's carried a value.

I am submitting this complaint to document an ongoing issue with Macy’s involving defective merchandise, an improper refund, and unacceptable customer service. On December 19, I placed an order for a brown buffalo leather Mancini laptop backpack. The item arrived before Christmas. While the appearance was initially satisfactory, I discovered a defect: a sharp metal component could be felt inside the main compartment when opening the front pocket. Given that the item cost $240, even at a sale price, I did not feel it was acceptable to keep a defective product. I initiated a return and reordered the same backpack.
As a result of the original purchase, I earned $40 in Macy’s promotional rewards (“Macy’s Dollars”). A few days later, I applied those rewards toward the purchase of a pair of Franco Sarto loafers priced at $77, paying approximately $32 out of pocket. The loafers were too large and were returned. Macy’s processed the return for the loafers before processing the return for the backpack. I received confirmation for both returns. However, Macy’s refunded only $200 of the $240 paid for the backpack, while fully refunding the $32 paid for the loafers.
I contacted Macy’s customer service to request the remaining $40 refund. I was informed that the amount was withheld because I had earned and used Macy’s Dollars. I explained that both items associated with the promotion had been returned, which should have resulted in a full refund of all out-of-pocket costs. The representative stated that this was “not how it works.”
When I requested a supervisor, the representative stated that the Macy’s Dollars had been converted into a gift card. I did not request, authorize, or receive notice of a gift card, nor do I see a gift card or Macy’s Dollars reflected in my Macy’s account. I clearly stated that I do not want a gift card and am requesting the correct refund.
At that point, the representative stopped responding entirely. The call was neither disconnected nor placed on hold. After approximately six minutes of silence and multiple attempts to confirm whether a supervisor was being contacted, there was no response. This behavior was unprofessional and inappropriate for a recorded customer service interaction. Compounding the issue, the replacement backpack I reordered arrived heavily patinaed and appeared used. I returned it and placed a third order for the same item. That backpack arrived in similarly poor condition, with heavy patina and a sticking zipper. I will be returning this item as well.
This situation reflects repeated quality control failures, improper handling of refunds, and unacceptable customer service conduct. I am requesting assistance to resolve the outstanding $40 refund and to document Macy’s business practices related to promotional rewards, returns, and customer service escalation handling.

Macy's Customer Service is HORRIBLE --- they are not from the US and extremely difficult to understand. The language barrier makes it very difficult to resolve issues. Customer Service did not care, stated I can cancel account once I pay them off. Years ago they were a good company. Very, very Disappointed in Macy's today. Not worth my time and frustration. Would give them a negative star review, if available.

Subject: Deeply Disappointing and Disrespectful Customer Service Experience. I am writing because I am honestly shocked and hurt by the way I was treated by Macy’s customer service. I purchased four (4) eGift Cards for New Year’s, but only three (3) were ever delivered. One card was never emailed to me. When I contacted customer service, they could clearly see that the card was never sent. Despite this, I was told I had to wait 7 business days for a review, instead of receiving an apology or an immediate correction. I explained that this was a New Year’s gift and asked what I was supposed to do. The representative responded in a cold and dismissive tone, saying: “So what? The person can wait another two weeks for a present.” That comment was incredibly disrespectful and completely lacking in empathy.
When I asked to speak with a supervisor, I was placed on hold for 30–40 minutes. Every few minutes, the representative returned only to say that he was “still looking for a supervisor,” yet no supervisor ever came to the line. This felt intentional and extremely unprofessional. Instead of help, I experienced rudeness, indifference, and delay. A gift meant for New Year’s was ruined, and I was made to feel as though my concern did not matter at all. This experience was emotionally upsetting and unacceptable for a company of Macy’s size and reputation. I expect better treatment, accountability, and respect.

I visited the Mac Cosmetic counter on Monday December 23rd, 2025 around 1:46 p.m. Check register receipt and sales person number who rang that sale up. She was very deceitful. I told her that I wanted lipstick Shimmer Bronze. I trusted her thinking that would be the lipstick that she had given me. However, I never checked it before leaving the counter. After leaving, something just said check your lipstick, only to learn that this salesperson had given me the wrong lipstick, and she was very aware of what she had done, but I didn’t know right after checking out because, I trusted as a loyal Macy’s customer this what she had had given me the correct lipstick when I found out that she had given me the wrong lipstick!
I immediately took it back to the Mac counter! The salesperson kind of tall very, very ** complexion. While there were other customers at the Mac counter, this salesperson knew that she had not given me the correct lipstick that I asked her for. She then gave me this humiliating look to say that I had switched the lipstick, wrong lipstick that she had given me and it was still in the same package brand new. I didn’t even have a new lipstick like that! She then ran down to other end of the counter and was on her phone talking to someone. I felt very humiliating and treated with disparity treatment by this salesperson. She set me up for failure knowing that she had given me the wrong lipstick only for my return to be humiliated by her and in front of other customers!
She is an evil mean dishonest person who works the Mac counter! I still feel really bad in how she treated me! Who would set a customer up for failure like that! She knew she had given me the wrong lipstick on purpose! I have been shopping at the Mac counter for years! I didn’t deserved that type of treatment. I did report what she did on that day Monday, December 22, 2025 to the cosmetics supervisor, but she seem not to care either! She informed me that she would talk with this sales associates, but the cosmetic supervisor kind of question me as to the reason why I felt like she treated me that, so I went to explain to her as I have outlined in this review and she made me feel as though was lying. If I was **, then I would have been treated with entitled with what had happen to me!
All Mac customers beware of that evil Mac associate that they have working at that counter! She will put wrong merchandise in your bag only to embarrassed you with humiliation when you try to return it to get exactly what you told her to give to you! Now, I feel that I can definitely can’t trust that sales associate ever again. Moving forward, I will always check my items before leaving that Mac counter, I guess humiliating customers is what that associate does for her entertainment!
I hope that Macy ‘s talk with her about her egregious behavior and that no other Mac customer has to experience what I did from her ever again. What did that associate get out of humiliating a customer over something she did wrong! Macy’s need to make sure that they are hiring the right people to work their cosmetics department! I am still livid over what happen to me! I hope that this sales associate got her entertainment out of what she did to me! Also, while talking to the cosmetic manager I looked over at the Mac counter and that associate who humiliate me. She was looking at me smirking! How rude and disrespectful of her! I guess she does not favor **!

I was on the phone for 1:45 mins total w FOUR diff customer service reps. None of them were helpful including a “supervisor.”
Finally, I was able to place my order (but using a diff cc, thus not eligible to redeem my $40 in star points) and as I reviewed my confirmation via email, came to realize THEY MISSPELLED MY STREET NAME! So WRONG ADDRESS. After the time commitment placed, it won’t even come to the right place. THE KICKER - I call YET AGAIN, the 5th Rep tells me that “it’s too late and already out, we cannot edit the address.” OMG…. She says “if it comes to you, great. If it doesn’t, no worries, we will refund you.” OMG it was only 10 mins later and it was too late???? Ridiculous. THAT IS A NON OPTION. I need these gifts for Christmas 🎄. Macy’s itself far as in store is good, but the online purchases dealing with issues and bad situations are very poor. The way that they claim that their rules and regulations are being carried out, hurt their own bottom line and also turns the customer off from wanting to purchase from them again. Why would you not offer a gift card for a return or any item that has to be refunded for any reason when the buyer's intention is to buy more from your store or replace the item with something that they would want to replace it with?
I am not sure if I am going to use your online store again and I would advise anyone that does please review their policies. No one wants to wait 7 to 10 business days for their money to come back on their card especially if they’re on a control budget and trying to do Christmas shopping, birthday shopping or just something that they need immediately. There is no pleasantly acceptable resolve for these issues. Hopefully someone will read this and rethink how you do business online. Thank you.
