The online store is a joke, do not shop with them. I have had decent luck at the physical stores so thought it would be a good option for an online purchase. I bought a dress, a skirt, and two shirts. None of them were of good quality, all workmanship was shoddy and the fabrics were thin and cheap. I knew they had a strict return policy so I immediately reached out to customer service to begin the return process. I got an immediate response saying they were working on the return but have not heard another word from them. I have responded to the email over 8 times asking for more information and have not received a response. Now I am over the 30 days they give for returns. I reached out again through the website and still no response. I am very dissatisfied with my experience and would not recommend shopping online with Dressbarn to anyone.

If you have a physical store to shop at, I recommend that over shopping online. If you make a return, they only give you store credit. I understood this from the beginning which was fine until I received my order. Their clothes are cheap and sizing is all over the place. I returned EVERYTHING 2x and the third time, I found 1 thing I liked out of over 200.00 spent. They allow 30 days to return. I was so burned out dealing with them, decided to just donate it to Charity. I'm sure that's what they love to hear. They got your money either way. Never again. May the force be with you if you decide to give it a try!!

I will never buy anything from this store again. I purchased a dress 2 months ago, never got an email saying it was shipped. I had to send an email asking and they said they did not have my size anymore and issued me store credit for the $60.00 I spent. I ordered another dress and they did the same thing. I had to reach out again and this time they issued me store credit for $40.00....(less than what I actually spent). How is that even correct!!!. I told them to keep their credit. Never again!!

I ordered a dress and upon receiving it, it was too small. I called to start a return. I was not aware their return policy is so very antiquated and is for store credit only. I repeatedly asked if I could receive my money back, as I had to buy another dress for my daughter's wedding, and had no more money. I was very polite, but firm. After finally agreeing for the return shipping label to be sent to me, I hung up. A week later I receive a notice that my "Subscription" was being shipped! I clicked the link to cancel whatever this is that I did NOT order, and couldn't log in because I had never created an account in the first place. I then find $9.99 debited from my bank account for what, I do not know. I have reached out to them in an email, and have yet to receive any answer. STAY AWAY!!!!

Buyer Beware! I’ve had nothing but headaches with Dressbarn. I initially purchased a kimono top. It came damaged (had snag) so sent it back. Many days wasted to finally get the shipping label. They don’t refund your money even if their fault. I had to chase down my credit. I finally decided to order a pair of pants and use my credit. They sent me the wrong size! Again had to waste so much time to return due to a dressbarn mistake. I still haven’t gotten the new credit or correct size pants. I would never buy anything again from them. The worst experience. I can’t imagine they will be around for long.

Dressbarn return policy is antiquated. Considering they are competing with a huge number of online outlets, the option to only be refunded via a gift certificate is unbelievable. Also the $9.99/month rewards club is a joke. The rewards club only covers return postage of items for which they will only give you a gift card. I have had to cancel it twice because every time you visit the site it is automatically applied.

I purchased several items from Dressbarn for my wife as Christmas presents. I ordered early due to the possibility of shipping/product delays. By the time Christmas arrived and she opened the presents, some of the items did not fit her. We contacted this hack of a company, only for them to tell us about their 30 day return policy. Actually, all she wanted to do was exchange them for the right size. Never have we experience a problem with exchanging or returning Christmas presents with any company we've ordered from. We have ordered from this company for many years. Needless to say, I will never use or recommend this business again.

I bought two pairs of pants. They sent me one pair of pants and a dress. Before I could return the dress, they made me take a picture of the dress and send it to them to prove to them I wasn't lying. They treated me like I was a liar! Then I just wanted to return the whole order because I wanted nothing to do with them at that point. They wouldn't refund my money. I just got store credit. I'll never do business with them again. And you wonder why Amazon is doing so well?! This business sucks. Stay away from them!

I find it completely ridiculous that an online clothing company has a no refund policy. Are you serious with this crap? You can only get store credit, and they make you pay to send things back, but totally bury these facts when purchasing. If you try to contact them prepare to be ghosted as if they never existed in the first place.

I purchased the items thinking I could return them as per the Dressbarn return policies, since I drive past a Dressbarn store. When I arrived there to find it was empty when I attempted to return some items. I discovered on that Dressbarn.com is no longer the original Dressbarn. Per CEO Dressbarn shoppers receive a QR code to enable box-, label-, and contact-free returns for an immediate refund or exchange.... "Happy Returns is a natural fit for our e-commerce-first strategy," Dressbarn CEO Shayan Zadeh said in the release. Sept 17, 2020. That is a lie!!
The product is NOT Dressbarn quality. I received merchandise I did not order. The return procedure is deceptive as well. One must wait until they send (after several requests) a return label. Then the consumer is responsible for any shipping costs above what is on the return label. Each separate order must be packaged and mailed separately increasing the shipping costs. To date I have received no response from Dressbarn.com if they received the items or if my account will be credited or if I have $542.60 worth gift cards or credit which I would never use on this deceptive website. (I know through tracking they did receive all my returns). I cannot imagine that in today's ecommerce world that many consumers will tolerate the deception of using Dressbarn as their name and offering such terrible customer service and policies.

I will never purchase here again! I shopped here often when their brick and mortar stores were open, but the company running their online business is a scam. I purchased a dress which did not fit, they did not have the correct size in stock and will not give me my money back only a useless "store credit". Trying to reach anyone in customer service by e-mail is a joke, all they do is respond with form letters offering you a 150% credit. Since I would never consider purchasing there again that is useless to me. To top it all off I found the same dress online at Target for much cheaper.

Beware of their "membership" that automatically goes in your cart and will reappear without you selecting it. It is a monthly subscription. It appears to purchase a free return policy - but it only purchases a "free" shipping label for returns (that you pay $10 a month for if you spend enough money). You cannot get your money back. EVER. You can ONLY get in-store credit, and since they have no storefront, you may be exchanging things forever to get something that fits. The wording of the Rewards Member Benefits appears to offer a return rather than only an exchange...but that only refers to the shipping. So unless you shop at Dress Barn like every week, this is NOT worth much and the manner in which they aggressively shove it in your shopping cart is annoying (I removed it more than once).

I ordered a few items for my mom, and four days later I was informed one item was out of stock. Since they already charged my credit card for this out of stock item, I requested a refund. Unfortunately, I did not know in advance that Dressbarn does not like to give refunds, even when it’s their fault. Instead, they give you store credit or a gift card.
The U.S. Federal Trade Commission states: If the seller doesn’t ship your order, it has to give you a full refund - not just a gift card or store credit. I see from the many reviews I’ve read, that it’s common practice for Dressbarn to accept a customer’s order and money, then notify the customer the item is no longer available, and not refund the customer’s money. Store credit is not a refund. It’s a very shady way to generate revenue and it feels like a scam.

Back in May I ordered a petite small dress and received a petite extra large in the wrong color. I used the store credit to order again and got another extra large in the same wrong color. So they made the same exact mistake twice in a row and would not give a refund even though they were the ones who made a mistake. Twice. A reasonable return policy would make an exception for an obvious store mistake. I ended up buying workout pants instead and luckily got the size and color I ordered. I will never buy from them again.

Warning all of you not to make the same mistake. I have shopped at this store for years. Their Policy has always been that if you order online you can return to the store and you get your money back. Since they closed their brick and mortar stores now all of the sudden they are saying their policy is only to give store credit. SO you give them your money, if it doesn't fit, they keep your money. They lost me as a customer, never again.

I live in NJ - sales tax is not collected on apparel. I ordered just a shirt, which is tax exempt and was charged sales tax. I emailed Customer Service, asking for a refund of the tax with a screenshot from the NJ government website explaining which items are/are not taxable. I got a reply from Dress Barn stating that the discount code in effect had already been applied when the order was placed, and the additional charges were tax and shipping. So, since email did not produce a satisfactory answer, I called Customer Support which appears to be an offshore call center staffed by people with a poor command of English.
The “agent” kept repeating that the company doesn’t keep the tax money, but sends it to the government. So, it would appear Dress Barn is collecting sales tax from NJ residents on non-taxable items. I’m sure many people overlook it, since it’s often a small amount, which is how they get away with it. I highly doubt that money is paid to the state. I’ve never had this happen before when ordering clothing online. I’ll not order from them again.

I ordered 2 masks and a dress in March. First I got only the masks and entire order marked delivered. Contacted company. Dress arrived a week or so later - but was not the dress I ordered. I contacted support. They asked me to send a photo of what I received. Didn't hear anything back after I sent photo until May. I was told it was deemed an "incident" and would get back to me. A little over a week later he writes back saying I passed the 30 day return period. I told him it was because I didn't hear back for over 30 days when I first contacted them. I wrote a bad review on a Facebook ad and got a quick email from the company saying they would get back to me. That was in early June. I got an email today saying they are sorry my order didn't ship yet.. Do I still want it? Ugh.
The dress I got was not the old Dressbarn quality. It was thin material, no style or shape. Horrible. I believe that when Dressbarn stores went out of business this company bought the name but is nothing like the stores were. Horrible quality and worse customer support. I'm out $99 and don't want that to happen to anyone else. (P.S. After my comments on FB, they deleted my comments.. then they stopped allowing comments on ads.)

Buyer beware!!!! Scam site!!!! Do not order from this company. I ordered three pair of pants in different colors in a specific size. I received 3 pair of black pants in different sizes. One size was correct so I did keep those. I contacted customer service online with no response so I called in. I was told I would need to mail back the incorrect items with a prepaid label which I did not receive so I had to call in again the next day. The pants were sent via UPS but the label was for USPS so I needed to go to the post office, purchase an envelope and send them back.
I then tried again and ordered the pants in an olive green. A week later a black pair in the wrong size were received. Back on the phone and was told the same thing, send them back, prepaid label etc. At this point, I was done and wanted a refund. This company does not issue refunds and I was issued a gift card which is absolutely ridiculous for an e commerce clothing site. In the interim I requested to speak to someone in management and did receive a call back that day from Mo in Texas, who seemed understanding and asked me to give them another shot and he would personally guarantee that the correct color and size would be sent out. I agreed and after two weeks of waiting received the pants today. I received another pair in black and they are the wrong size again.
I called in for a fourth time and was told to take a picture of the merchandise (what?) and I would receive a label and to please return the pants. Are you freaking serious? (support@dressbarn) does not respond to emails for weeks, if at all. I am now out seventy dollars I am not going to the post office for a third time for the incompetence of a company that does not know the difference between colors and sizes. I have given this company numerous chances to make this right and they have failed miserably. Never in my life have I had an experience like this and will now be hitting social media (where they can't remove this because I know this will be taken down immediately).
I will also be contacting the BBB although I doubt this company is accredited. Save your money and your sanity, when all was said and done I contacted them via email at least 3 times (no response), spoke to 4 different CSR's, spoke to a manager twice on the phone and I still do not have the correct merchandise or any type of compensation. I do not want their gift card as I will never do business with this company again. They need to be shut down. The icing on the cake was Jason, the last CSR telling me I was not being logical. What a joke. I just hope I can save someone else from being scammed.

If you need to return or exchange an item, they will NOT credit back to your credit card - they will only offer a store credit, minus shipping charges. This might be OK if you continue to shop with them, but not favorable when you need to go elsewhere to find the item you need. In my situation, a top (which according to their sizing chart should have fit) ran small, and I wanted to exchange it. The site said there was little inventory, to order soon. To use their store credit, I would have had to wait for them to receive my return before I could order the size I needed.

I have had a very bad experience with Dressbarn Faux Three-Piece Pant Set with Sparkle Top and Sheer Cardigan. I tried the outfit on. It fit well and looked great. I chose to wear it when I attended a religious ceremony for the graduation of my granddaughter. The problem became evident on the way to the event, as the glitter that embellished the outfit began to fall from the material at an alarming rate. The glitter covered the car seat and the floor where I sat. I hoped that would be just preliminary shedding of the glitter. It was not. Glitter covered the seat I had at the ceremony.
Glitter fell from the outfit in a stream as I made my way to the reception after the ceremony. My hands were covered with glitter, which then travelled to my face as well as the glass I drank from and the hors d’oeuvres I ate. This was a true embarrassment, as my family and several strangers made note of the situation. We had to have the car detailed to keep the glitter from getting on the children’s hands as they ride in the car, knowing glitter has the potential to enter and damage sensitive parts of eyes.
I wrote to Dressbarn using the above description and the reply was that their rule states we can only return clothing unused and with tags on. No matter that the defect was not known until the material was worn. I called customer service and got the same statement. No refund, no matter how horrible my experience was when wearing the outfit. I told customer service I have never written such a negative review. The answer was they want customers to express their opinion, positive or negative. Just don’t expect a refund.

I agree with all the other one-star reviews. I placed an order online 6/14/21 and my card was charged the same day. (It was not just an authorization, it was an actual charge.) The website says everything on the site is in stock and ships same day if ordered before noon eastern time. After not receiving a tracking number over a week later, I called and was told my order was delayed but was shipping out that day. Okay, fine.
I still got no tracking number by the next day and sent an email. The reply (a couple days later) said that the item was in fact out of stock and the order had been canceled. Obviously this is completely conflicting info to what the phone agent said. I replied saying to refund my card. They replied (another couple of days later) offering me 150% gift card for exchange. I replied AGAIN saying I just want my money back on my Mastercard. Still no reply. It is now 6/25, no dress and no refund and they have had my money for 11 days on something that was supposed to have shipped on 6/14. Terrible company! Do not shop here. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS COMPANY. I purchased an overpriced pair of pants from Dressbarn. These pants looked like sweatpants with pearls on them. The quality of the dress pants I thought I was ordering at a price in excess of $100 was not what I expected. When I tried to request a refund online, my only option was to exchange the item or to get an e-card (meaning I would have to use it on THE DRESSBARN WEBSITE ONLY). This is a sign of a company that is not a quality company or one that is in trouble, making the e-card worthless.
When I asked on 5/19/2021 to escalate the issue to upper management, I was told I would receive an e-mail reply within 24-48 hours. Instead, I receive the e-mail on 6/8/2021, 2 1/2 WEEKS later. In very bad English, the e-mail said I would receive "a 25% additional, but a 50% for the troubles if I prefer". I had to call them again to get clarification of what the e-mail meant. If you complain, they will give you an e-card valued at 150% of your purchase. They will NOT further escalate nor will they let you speak to someone in management directly about the issue. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS.

I will never order anything from Dressbarn again. Their prices are a little higher for the same quality of clothing that I can get at a lower price from other places. I don't mind paying more if I get good customer service. And that's where Dressbarn fails miserably. Dressbarn charges shipping on all orders plus shipping on returns and only issues store credit - no getting your money back after paying shipping both directions and a higher price on the article of clothing.
Plus Dressbarn made sure returning an item wouldn't be easy. I had to create an account to see my order info. Under the order history for my account there was no return portal to be found anywhere. Finding their return policy and how to make a return requires an extensive search only to discover you have to call customer support to get a return label generated - without postage paid, of course. If you threw away the packaging your order came in you're out of luck. Returns must be shipped back in the original packaging within 30 days.

I always liked to shop at the Dressbarn stores and was disappointed when they closed. For one thing, their styles became focused on skinny jeans for teens rather than clothing for mature women. I believe that their online inventory is from all the closed stores. There are few sizes available and the clothes don't seem like new styles. Their quality has gone downhill. I ordered a pair of girlfriend jeans and didn't get a refund but a credit. So, I exchanged them for another size and was told they're not in stock about two months later. They had the nerve to give me another store credit instead of a full refund. It's their fault that the item is out of stock. I reached out to return the item only to learn they only refund you with "merchandise credit". I do not want merchandise credit as I refuse to ever shop their store again.
I contacted customer service (which is a joke) for a return label and do not believe I should have to pay for the return considering it is a) inferior quality and 2) it reeks of someone else's perfume. So it's been a week and absolutely NO resolution. I asked if they could explain to me what they constitute a "limited exception" as far returns go. Not a single person at Dressbarn can answer that question! Moral of the story: DO NOT BUY ANYTHING from these crooks! They are selling junk clothing at high prices and will keep your money. Just do yourself a favor and shop elsewhere.

Little did I know when I ordered that the only form of refund that can be obtained is their store credit. The dress was thin and flimsy. Despite that fact, They keep your funds no matter what. Be sure you like what you’re ordering because you can’t get your money back.... You can just order more of their products.

Customer Service is very pleasant while they lie to you about getting your items to you. They suck the money out of your account the moment you order but, then your order often comes in drips and drabs. Maybe they're just extra busy the holiday season. But, two things: They ought not get your money until they SHIP, and they shouldn't lie about shipping. If their warehouse is a holiday cluster-truck and they're having a hard time, I'd rather KNOW that they're truly trying to get things unscrewed instead of being left up in the air with a bunch of charges on my credit card. I have quite a bit of outstanding merchandise I'm waiting for now and for all I know, they're going to take my money and run. In their defense, they're teaching me to not impulse shop. Nothing is worth this. Save your money. Do NOT join their VIP program. It's not worth anything if they don't DELIVER anything.

I have contacted customer service and was "promised" that the other 2 items would be shipped by 11/30 and I would get a tracking number. Still have not received that tracking number and have reached out to customer 2 more times since with no response. I ordered two dresses on August 6th for a wedding I was attending at the end of September. My card was charged and I waited a few weeks and nothing arrived, no email updates, nothing. I called only to be told that the dresses would not be arriving until the beginning of September because they were a “pre-order,” which had not been mentioned anywhere when I ordered the dresses. Okay, fine. Not ideal, but still left me enough time to try them on before the wedding. I called on September 16th to check on the status of my dresses because I hadn’t received a single update, email, or my dresses that I had paid for almost 6 weeks ago. I was told by a very unfriendly customer service rep that my dresses were OUT OF STOCK and would not be back in stock for two weeks.
I explained how frustrated I was with this process, as it was my first with Dress Barn, and asked that they refund me immediately. After being told that wasn’t possible, the woman transferred me to the “returns department,” where I was promptly hung up on. I gave up. You can have my $50, Dress Barn. Then three days later, without an email or follow up from the customer service rep, the dresses appear - hmmm, so not out of stock? They were ill fitting and cheaply made. I returned immediately. Let me end this by saying I NEVER write reviews, but this company so clearly has NO idea what they’re doing that I felt the need to share my experience. The item I ordered was very pretty and good quality but did not fit properly, so I contact customer service for instructions to return it. I was emailed a shipping label, which would cost me an additional $6.99 to return it and returned the item.
Almost a month later I saw I was not refunded for the item, so I emailed customer service. The response was, "Oh, yes, you are eligible for a refund. We will do that now." So watch for refunds. However, I was only refunded HALF of what I paid. They charged DOUBLE for the return shipping. We found a few at Dress Barn and ordered them. We still have not received them. We have since ordered from another company. We waited patiently for a significant amount of time and did take into consideration that the company may be short staffed due to the virus and company changes.
However, after contacting the company several times with no results and passing a reasonable amount of time to receive an order or for the company to refund us the purchase amount if the order could not be processed we took our business somewhere else. Especially in this case, when the product we ordered was not only something of vanity but of necessity as well. We searched online and found a company BLING ME A BOX, that we made an with. We not only received the masks quickly but they were very nice quality and were exactly as we viewed them to be from the photos shown. I would recommend them in the future.

I wear size 10 petite and that is what I always ordered from the Dress Barn website and had no problem finding them. Our DB store did not carry petites.
So, the "new" website is still called "Dress Barn," carries NO Roz and Ali, not even one, carries no petites, and carries almost every dress I ever bought from Dress Barn, including the ones I bought for less than half price before the previous closing, and all of the prices are outrageously high on the EXACT SAME CLOTHES (they have very few new styles) and I could not find one thing from Roz and Ali. (FYI, Zulily online does carry Roz and Ali at reasonable prices). I also loved the "Secret Agent Pants," no longer available.
I contacted customer service by email as they were saying "higher than expected volume" on the phone lines, they ignored my questions about Roz and Ali in their reply, said they "hoped" to be offering additional sizes eventually (I assumed this was my answer about petites). It is NOT the same company, that is for sure. Their current prices are ridiculous, Roz and Ali were their best brand (even they said so in their closing, hence the new name of the website as Roz and Ali, not Dress Barn). I love to shop online, and I normally have a fairly standardized fit, and I really liked the BOGO and other sales Dress Barn had regularly, along with the seasonal Clearance Sales. Purchased two pairs of jeans from Dress Barn online. Jeans did not fit, of course they change their sizing or styles from one year to another. Tried to return the jeans to my local Dress Barn. They would not take them because I purchased them online using PayPal. Tried to find a return label on their website, could not find it. Sooo, packed the jeans, went to my local PacMail to return them and paid $17.00+ for shipping. Dress Barn received the package, but deducted $6.95 from my refund. Guess they never bothered to look at the label to see it was not their return label!! Contacted Dress Barn and they are willing to refund $6.95 which they should not have taken in the first place. Horrible business. Will never shop there again!

Do NOT shop at the Dressbarn in Winter Gardens FL. The staff this Saturday were disrespectful and insulting. To top it off, I ordered 2 shirts online on a Sunday, I needed them for an event on the following Friday so thinking shipping would be fast, I had them sent to this store, which is the closest to where I live, about 30-40 minute drive. Loved one of the shirts so much that I decided to go the Wednesday before the arrival date to try them on. The staff that day were amazing, I explained my situation and they were very helpful. Found me tons of items to try and ended up buying like 10 items more. I was assured that when the online order arrived, I would be able to return the shirt I re-purchased.
To make the story short, the staff the following Saturday were HORRIBLE! Rude to say the least... At the end they would not return my money, only a store credit, because I paid with PayPal. Of course that the only place that states this ridiculous return policy is on the receipt inside the package so there's no way for you to know this specific fact until AFTER you spend the money and get the items! I have contacted their corporate office in regards to this incident and they have not responded yet. Terrible experience!

I have never once had a problem returning any item, I have never once had a problem with any customer service representative, everyone I have dealt with was polite and wanted to make the customer happy. The clothing fits true to size (which I can't say for many other places), the styles are fresh. I always find something when I shop with Dressbarn. They have great sales and monthly coupons sent out via mail, email and text. I would have given 5 stars but I do prefer to shop for clothing made in the USA these days.

I went into a Dressbarn store and 50% of the store is plus sizes... about 35% of store is regular sizes and a small 15% petite sizes... The same styles in the plus size cost $5 to $10 more. This is discrimination to plus size women. They sell more plus sizes than regular or petite so the argument that it is a specialty size is not that accurate, they are taking advantage of plus size women... This is appalling!

On 4/4/18 while traveling for a conference I used the hotel laundry facility to do a load of laundry. I was traveling light and had brought a black and tan pair of Dressbarn pants knowing that I could mix and match for the week. Both pairs of pants shrunk causing me to take a cab to a local store and spend money purchasing new pants to get through the remainder of the conference. On 4/5/18, I called customer service to return or replace the pants. I explained that there was no indication on the tag that shrinkage may occur and was very disappointing that the product had let me down. I was read a scripted response from a call center employee and she was unwilling to deviate from her script to offer me any assistance. The return policy states that returns can be made within 60 days (I purchased them on Feb 19th) so, I am well within the 60 days however, because they had been worn and the tags removed, I was not able to return them.
I asked for them to be replaced and again referring to her script, she was unable to help me. I asked to speak to a supervisor. The "supervisor" which come to find out was not, read the same script. I tried to have a reasonable conversation but it is hard when employees are scripted. After a very frustrating conversation, where I was told there were NO supervisors available "because they are all in a meeting", I was told that I was going to be put on hold "probably for a long time" while she waited for a supervisor, she was rude.
Finally a woman named McKaila came on the line. She was not able to assist and made it clear that the call center does not have any authority to truly assist the customer. This is shameful, Dressbarn must empower their employees to provide customer service. It was very clear to me that this call center was nothing but an automated center in which the standard is NO. I will not support a company that does not care for the customer and employs low paid, low impact personnel to read scripts to people vs. talking to the customer and standing behind their products and service. This whole experience has shown me what kind of company Dressbarn is and I will make sure I inform my friends and network what a poorly run company this is.

I took them back to the store and explained to the person helping me that I had tried them on twice and realized I was not happy with them and wouldn't wear them. She had a distrustful attitude toward me from the get-go. The first thing she asked, in not a very nice way, was if I had worn them. I told her I had not. She then said she could not take them back because the tags were off. I had a receipt and I did not see how I could not return them if I had the receipt.
She then informed me that it was on the back of the receipt that the tags must be on the item. I told her it never occurred to me to read the back of my receipt and she informed me that was my contract!! I need a contract to buy a pair of pants!!? She picked up the pants again and said, "you didn't wear these???" The manager followed us around the whole time and when we didn't see a dress to buy my girlfriend's grandmother for Mother's Day the manager met us at the door and stood in front of it and said "May I help you." I told her the plus size really didn't have what we were looking for and as she opened the door for us she got close up on me and looked in my bag that I had bought at another store assuming with her actions we had stolen something and put it in my bag.
Me and my girlfriend was so embarrassed but being the peaceful people we are we didn't cause a scene but I did call the store back and talk to the manager and kindly told her I will be calling her district manager and corporate office on Monday morning. My girlfriend literally cried in the car on the way home because every holiday we get her grandmother and my mom which is now deceased a dress from Dressbarn. I have been a loyal and active customer of Dressbarn for almost 10 years. What happened today was the only bad experience I have ever had at Dressbarn. I have never had any problems with the store I shop at in Laurel, MD, but today was so surprising and made me rethink the value they place on customer relations.
I bought a top for my mum with couple of other garments and tried to return the top, which was NEVER worn (obviously so) with tags and receipt intact, only to be told that the return cannot be processed as it "appears" to have been worn because it smells. Customers try on garments in stores and I'm sure some wear heavy perfumes or have body odor. We normally just pick a clothing off the rack that we like. I did not know when it became a requirement for DB that customers smell clothes before buying otherwise they will be unable to return due to the smell of the garment. I find this preposterous as I was at a loss.
Bear in mind that it was even confirmed by customer service after calling to make a complaint that my record shows that I am a very active customer with little or no returns. I sometimes do exchanges only for size changes. I have a Credit Card with DB that I pay on time on, and even take visiting family members to shop there. Just within these past 2 weeks, my sister and mum made purchases to the tune of almost $500. It is so unfair to be looked in the face and told you did something you didn't do especially when your record even speaks for itself.
I definitely will no longer be shopping here again. I will pay off my credit card with DB ($180 or so) and close the card. I honestly do not want to have anything to do with a store that treats its loyal customers like trash. My mother still loves the store. That is the only store she gets all her garments from when she is town with me, which is rather unfortunate. I waited for over 30 minutes this morning for the store to open up and quite frankly, the store manager, who I believe did not do her job well, really messed up my day. She readily and gleefully gave me her name to call customer service. I guess it is because she probably knows the company's customer service wouldn't do anything, which was exactly what happened.

I bought items from two other stores through their websites at the same time; their shipping fees were also free; but I received those items within 7 days of order. Gladly I wasn't in any hurry for the items; however, I didn't like the dresses and had to return them. Here's where the problem began.
With the shipping return label that is provided there is no way to track the package further than post office, because that package is passed onto another shipping company and that tracking number is not available to you. I mailed the package back on May 1 and still have not received my refund. In contacting customer service, I was told it takes at least 30 days to receive a refund. The problem is after a few washings the stitching around the neck, sleeves, hem, etc. started unraveling. Rather than pay extra money to a seamstress to repair the tops, I gave them to a thrift store and cut my losses. I had no receipts to return the tops to the store. My last purchase at DressBarn was skinny jeans, that I love, but I'm concerned the jeans may fall apart after a few washings. Sad to say, I doubt if I will buy any future clothing at DressBarn. I walked into a meeting today and, as usual, someone commented on my outfit. They LOVED new black wide-leg trousers and the cream colored shirt with black bows on it. My response, Dress Barn! My colleague said, "Seriously, that is all you ever say. You should be a spokesperson!" While I may not be spokesperson-worthy, as someone who works in publicity, I know that it is uncommon for people to reach out with positive feedback about any given company. With this in mind, I thought you may want to hear from literally your number one fan.
Since discovering Dress Barn in 2013, I have quickly moved from a casual customer to someone that spends an average of $400 a month at your stores. The majority of my shopping is done in the White City store in Shrewsbury, Mass. But, I also shop from time to time online and in the Charlton, Mass. store. In the work place, I am know as someone who is very fashionable and constantly am asked where I shop. I can't tell you how many people I have sent your way, as some still don't realize how fashionable your clothes are. So, I wanted to Thank You and let you know all the reasons why I love Dress Barn.
1. The style. Your clothing has come a long way. DB has been on point for so many of the new trends. 2. The sizes. I attached photos of me that I have posted over the years rocking your clothes. One shows I went from a 24 to a 16 and I LOVE that you have sizes for everyone and don't discriminate. When I was a 24, I could still get very cute styles that didn't look like they were made by my grandmother. 3. The quality. The quality is amazing. I am a working mother that commutes three hours a day. I have three kids, a dog, two cats and a guinea pig. I don't have the money or time for dry cleaning. I wash your clothes over and over and they look the same. 4. The price. Back to my life. I have a job that requires me to dress nice, go to meetings across the country and sometimes formal events. You have amazingly priced clothes for everything.
I used to shop at other stores and have switched completely for reasons 1, 3 and 4. First, the clothes are way overpriced, most don't work for business women and if I wash them, they FALL apart. The last two items I bought outside of your company had the hems fall within 2 wears. (This happens at many stores. This summer, after I lost weight I was excited to try JCrew. I paid $125 for a skirt and after one wear the hem fell and the lining shredded.) 5. The service. The ladies that work in the stores are always very pleasant and helpful. And, they treat me like they care - always hanging my clothes neatly to be sent home. That is my ramble for today. Again, thank you so much. I really love your brand and thought you should know.

I told the lady at the counter that they must have fallen out at home or in my car that I would look for them and bring them back. The lady said that they could not take them back because even if I found the tags, they were not still attached to the garment and it was policy not to take them back unless the tags were still attached. I explained to the lady that the tags had fallen off the item when I tried them on in the dressing room the day before and that the lady who cashed me out said it wasn't a problem and just scanned the price and threw the loose tags in the bag with the item.
This very rude lady then told me that all employees reattach the tags before a customer leaves so there is no problem with returns. I was so upset at this point! This rude person was basically calling me a liar! I again told her that the lady did NOT reattach the tags and that I walked out of the store with them like that. She pushed the item back at me and said she would not accept them without tags. I felt so disrespected as a customer. Once getting to the register with my items I noticed glue across a pair of shoes I was looking to buy. The sales associate offered to clean them and then said she could order them to another location. Upon swiping my card she stated that a debit card could not be used. After quite a bit of back and forth I stated I would purchase the items myself online and she angrily voided the transaction.
Several days later a charge showed up on my card from this store for a purchase I never made. I called the manager who rudely answered and would hardly let me speak, telling me that if I had any concerns with a charge I would need to show up there in person with my receipt. When I could finally explain what happened she said that I could not speak directly with the associate, Ms. **, but that she would talk to her give me a call back. When the manager called back she used a much sweeter tone and politely told me that yes, a transaction had been made, but that was as much as she was going to say and to call customer service if I had an issue.
After 3 days of speaking with different customer service representatives I finally received a call back from a supervisor who informed me that the charge made with my card was used to pay off another person's Dressbarn credit card. I am still waiting for the charge to be reversed.
In addition to this, I have received an email that the item I ordered online was incorrectly canceled due to technical difficulties with their fulfillment center, but if I wanted the item I could just re-order it online. I have received an apology email, but only offering 20% off coupons is nothing for all of the hassle and time that I've wasted, especially when the same discount is already offered for anyone to use online. It's such a shame to have so many negative experiences within the past week, when I've always enjoyed shopping at other Dressbarn locations in NY.

Dressbarn on kings highway is a horrible store. Not only did I encounter identity theft, where they charge me money for items I never purchased. But mostly I have a problem with the employees at that store. They are very nasty, don't want to do their job and talk to you like a piece of **. They don't see a respectable customer cause they are too blind.
After I tried on a couple dresses and hanged them back up on the hanger, the Russian short haired, fat lady came up to me in front of other people screaming why I didn't take them out of the dressing room. After I took the time to hang them all up and leave the dressing room in a good shape. Then, the cashier started looking at me up and down and then told me to go stand over there; far away. I suggest the owner of this store, carefully watch the employees, how they are treating customers. No wonder when you walk in the store there are very few people shopping. I threw the clothes on the counter and left very upset and vowed to never ever step foot in a store like this.

Loving DressBarn. I can't say enough about this place. The staff was very helpful. They help me find shirts when I want them to. They know me by name and all around just a great place to go. I recommend them to everyone I see because they don't always know that they carry more than dresses there. Capris are wonderful along with their shirts. This location is in Great Northern Mall upstate New York.

I use to always shop at the Elmhurst store in IL. I shopped here for 4 years and every time I went in there people knew me by name. I went in the day before Mother's Day to purchase a dress and all I can say is they are horrible now. I asked where my sales girl was and mentioned her name and they said she was the manager and she's gone. So I decided to give my favorite Dressbarn a chance. No way, no how huge mistake. They are racist there you won't get help if you're black. They think you're doing something bad if you ask to do layaway. And the worst of the worst are a loud mouth woman named ** and a very incompetent southern woman I was told was new manager. Dressbarn you made a huge mistake. I will never shop at Elmhurst again. The sad thing is I heard others complaining bout the service too.
Thankfully I have ** from Bloomingdale still and I will shop with her. Elmhurst get it together and train your people and get rid of loud mouth **. No one cares all about hearing all her problems. So annoying. Horrible experience and you better believe I am going to tell all my friends how racist ** is and this ain't over.

My review is not just for the Dressbarn that I visited as I have visited others as well. I understand that employees do not make the decisions about the facilities as it relates to having a restroom available, therefore is not against any employee but against Dressbarn for not having one. This needs to be fixed as I had an emergency and having to leave to go to another place for the facility was where they received my money.

I shop the Grove City, Ohio and the Jeffersonville, Ohio Tanger Outlet Dressbarn. I find both extremely bright and clean, merchandise always in good order and nicely displayed. I am greeted when I come in the door at both places. Help is offered and they will check other stores if I cannot find my size in the item I like. They ask if I have a coupon to make sure I did not forget if I do. It is a delight to shop BOTH of these Dressbarns. I also shop the out Dressbarn at Lodi, Ohio a couple of times a year and find it the same way. I do not understand other complaints on other Dressbarns. Come shop the ones I do!!

I was in Dressbarn in west Springfield buying a purse and happen to see a few nice outfits I wanted to buy but at that time I did not have the money. So I came back when I was more prepared to buy them. And when I returned to the store I really needed to use the rest room. I said to the clerk before I shop, "I really need to use the restroom. She said, "We don't have one," and I said, "You don't???" She could see I was in DISTRESS!!! And then she said, "We don't have a public bathroom!"
I was there to shop in your store and I can't believe in an emergency like that I was unable to use the restroom. I didn't just come in off the street to use it -- I am a paying customer and have shopped in that store with very good luck!!! Anyway, I left. I was very, very angry and went to Kohl's!!! I did use their restroom and barely made it, by the way!!! And too mad to go back to Dressbarn, ended up shopping at Kohls! I hope the clerk finds herself in a case like that. Then maybe she will know how it feels to really, really need to use the restroom!!! Signed... very angry and disappointed!!!

I called customer service and was told it could take up to 10 days. That is unacceptable in this day of advanced technology. Checks clear fast. The most you ever wait for a credit to your bank card is at most 2 days. They still have not resolved this. The best part is the cashier never looked at the back of the card to see you could not reload the card. Please be aware not to use any Gift Cards at Dressbarn. Terrible customer service.

I went into my local DressBarn and received the worst customer service possible. First, I was the only customer in the store at this particular time, yet not greeted. There were TWO associates working at approximately 3:00 pm on a Tuesday. One was on the telephone with a customer that wanted a skirt not in the Florence store. She made a second call to locate the skirt. I was at the counter before she finished the second call and made the third call. She, however, made the call with me standing in front of her with my purchase in hand.
The other associate came to the counter three times while I waited. She addressed me when my leg gave out to offer me a chair while I waited. Eventually, while she folded sweaters on the back counter in front of me, she asked if she could help. I told her no I'd continue to wait for the associate on the phone. When the associate finished her call she then directed the other associate to help me. No thank you Dress Barn!

Associates looked it up and could not find where my friend bought it at their store and I explained, my friend could have bought from another store, could she look it up. After another sales associate told the other associate, yes she could see other store purchases, the associate chose not to and to me to the receipt from my friend and then come back. Not sure if this is going to be addressed, since I've asked that a Sr. Manager call me to discuss the nightmare that this one order has become, but at least I will feel as if I have exhausted my resources. On 10/2/14 I placed an order (**) with Dress Barn online, for the simple reason that the store that I frequent did not have the items that I was looking for. BEFORE placing the order, I contacted customer service and asked if I would receive my order by 10/10 since I was leaving for a business trip and I was assured that the warehouse would ship within the next day...WAY before it was scheduled to close. I place the order and ask to have it shipped to the store (#2824), since I was going to be in that area for the weekend.
On Friday 10/10, I contacted the store and asked if my shipment had arrived - obviously was told that it had not. I contact customer service and ask where the order was and was told by Lauren that it will arrive on 10/13. I explained to Lauren that on 10/12 I was leaving for a business trip out of the country and I needed these clothes for this trip. She proceeded to have another order overnighted to my house for Saturday delivery - it wasn't the whole order, but at least it was something. I then asked her to inform the store that my original order should be opened and the brown skirt held for me, with the remaining 2 items either sent back to the warehouse or put in their inventory.
I receive an email from Dress Barn stating that my order was ready to ship FEDEX OVERNIGHT STANDARD (order **). I ask Lauren (who was amazingly helpful) to transfer me to her manager as I want to give her the much deserved accolades. I get Britt's voicemail... I ask her to call me back as I wanted to speak with her about my order and about Lauren. No response... crickets!!!!
I get an email on FRIDAY NIGHT that my original order shipped "ground standard" and will be sent to the store. *SIGH* - I'll never see these clothes! Saturday 10/11 - No order, nothing on my doorstep! *Sigh* On the bright side my trip is postponed to Wednesday night. Sunday 10/12 - I call the call center and explain my plight to Michelle (I think it was her) who tries to find the clothes that I need so that I can pick them up. She finds the pants in a store in Brooklyn (Kings Highway), which is not a problem as my sister lives in Brooklyn. I ask that the store is contacted and the pants are held in my sister's name NANCY and that she NOT be charged for the pants. "No problem" I am told - I ask my sister to go to the store to pickup the pants... When she gets there she is told that they cannot release the clothes unless they are paid for! *AAARRRRGGGGHHHHH*
Monday 10/13 - I get an email telling me that my 2nd order has been cancelled... WTF? My first order should be at the store. Well store 2824 is 130 miles away from me (I have an apartment in Manhattan for work). Around 9:00 AM I FINALLY get a call from Britt (claims she is a manager) and proceeds to tell me that she was very busy calling other customers back who had my same problem with the warehouse... I guess I was last on the list - I explain my dissatisfaction with Dress Barn and while I may have been rambling (I felt that I was entitled since it had already been 11 days since I placed my order) Britt is extremely condescending... telling me that she gave me the courtesy of hearing me talk, and that I should extend her the same courtesy - really!?!?! She also tells me that she is going to send me a gift card for my trouble - WHERE ARE MY CLOTHES? You are sending me a $50 gift card so that I can walk into your store and buy more things (I never spend less than $200 in your store). I tell her that I hope that the same chimps that run the warehouse aren't the ones sending out the gift cards...!
Still Monday - I call the call center (yet again) and explain that the UPS tracking number that Dress Barn sent me is not a valid number.... where is my order. Amy tells me that it was sent FedEx... so why did I get a UPS email with a tracking number?... She doesn't know. This has now become a very bad Abbott and Costello routine. Amy calls the store and tells them to OVERNIGHT my package to my NYC address. Bonnie (the store manager) calls me and asks if I want the package overnighted to me. YES!!! Please send it. I need it by Wednesday. She sends it out, I get the package that same day - calls me and gives me a tracking number. I'll have it by Tuesday. FINALLY - the long awaited order. Tuesday night Amy calls me back (yes my friends, there is someone at Dress Barn who cares for her customers), I tell her that I did indeed get this package... The clothes are all in the wrong size! I look around for Ashton Kutcher as I feel as if I am getting "punked"... Where are those cameras????
Now here I am sitting in the lounge at the airport, composing this email when I know that this too will fall on deaf ears (or blind eyes!). At least I can copy and paste this in the review page that you want me to fill out about my recent experience with Dress Barn. I finally realize why this store is called dress BARN - because you hire chimps to run your warehouse, your managers treat customers like animals... and you expect US - the paying customer to be thankful that you deigned us to enter your BARN.
I love the store in the Crossings Outlets in the Poconos and I encourage you to take a trip there to see how Bonnie, and Pat treat customers. They are the most amazing sales reps that you have. I can confidently go to the store and try on clothes and ask for their opinion... and they will tell me if something is flattering or not. I just wish that your managers could take a few lessons from these ladies, as they know how to treat customers. In the hopes to hear back from you - but I know I won't.... I extend my warmest regards.

I shopped at Dress Barn in Dedham, MA twice in July 2014. None of the total five associates that I saw fit the classy vibe that I think Dress Barn wants to project to its customers. Other chain stores do not have associates that are so 'bottom of the barrel' as the Dedham Dress Barn location. They were dressed and groomed slovenly. One was frankly scary with all her tattoos, and the rude, disinterested responses to customers did not make for a pleasant shopping experience. There was no one to open the dressing room, no one available at the cash register, and I had to call out and wait an additional 5 minutes before anyone showed up. In retrospect, I should have left and taken my business elsewhere, because it went downhill from there.
They did not have in stock the color and size dress that my daughter wanted for her upcoming 88-year-old grandfather's wedding. But they said that they could order it and it would be shipped free to the store within 5 days. Two days later, on a Thursday, I received an email that the dress was out of stock and the order was canceled. I looked on the DB website and confirmed with the online chat person that the dress my daughter wanted was in stock, and the chat person said that they actually had 4 dresses in that size and color. Because I wanted them to honor the DB $5 coupon I had originally used, I had to call and place the order. I asked that customer service woman if the dress was in stock, and was told that there were actually 12 in her size and color. Amazing - they had no idea about their inventory - in the span of of less than 3 hours I got a quote that it was zero, then four, then twelve...
Considering the canceled order and concern about getting the dress in time, I asked to have it sent my home instead of the store and requested they waive the expedited two-day shipping because of the hassle I had already been put through. Was told that they could not waive the expedited shipping charge, but that they would minus the standard shipping rate, so I ended up paying an extra $6.38 to have a 2-day delivery. Considering it was Thursday night, I assumed it would arrive by Monday at the latest, and hoped for a Saturday delivery.
So here it is, Tuesday evening, and the item tracking says that it is New Jersey (we live in Massachusetts). I called customer service and complained that I paid extra with the assurance that it would arrive in 2 days, and it was now 5 days (3 business days). Was told we would probably get it on Wednesday, which would make it 4 business days. They call this expedited? And they had the audacity to charge me for it? We can only hope it arrives before the wedding, and that the order is not messed up.
Thanks for making this such a miserable experience, Dress Barn! This is not how to provide good customer services - from the staff in your stores, to the customer services that do not know what is available in stock, to your shipping of items. You have lost my business and I will use all sorts of social media to let others know about my experience.

I never visited this store before. My daughter started working there, so she asked me to come see their clothing. I went by twice and purchased some items. I went again in April 2013. My daughter was working that day so she helped me pick some items and also her manager Abby (I didn't know that was the manager until the next day) helped me by getting the dressing room ready for me. After being at the store for a while, I was trying out an outfit and Abby walked behind me and said, "She is still here?" referring to me. I didn't understand why she said what she said. I continued to try other clothing. Meanwhile my daughter was helping other customers. She would come and check up on me and ask if I was doing okay and if I needed help with anything. When I was done choosing the items I wanted, I proceeded to pay. This Abby lady took care of me.
When I finished paying (I spent over $300), she asked, "Are you going to wait to say goodbye to your daughter?" I said, "Sure. I will wait until she is done with her customer." In the meantime, I went where their jewelry is located. I liked a few items so I decided to purchase some jewelry. I went back to the register and Abby took care of me again. When I finished paying, I said to Abby, "I need to get out of this store before I go broke" and Abby said, "Yes, you should because you are going to get your daughter in trouble." What!? I didn't understand why she made that stupid comment! So I said goodbye to my daughter and I left. Next day, I spoke to my daughter and she said to me that she got in trouble at work because I was there. I guess at this Dressbarn store in West Bend, WI, family and friends of any employee at the store are not allowed to come in, even if you are there as a customer and spending a couple of hundred dollars.
Now, I understand why this Abby made those two stupid comments she made while I was at the store. I did contact her supervisor and he apologized. They should apologize to my daughter and to another employee that this Abby did the same thing to her. I am on a business trip in CA but the minute I get back to WI, I am returning everything I purchased and am never going back! I don't need the disrespect shown to me and their employees at this store. They lost me and many other female friends of mine. I am extremely disappointed with the service that I received after placing an online order. Since my favorite plus-size store has recently gone out of business, I have been doing more shopping with Dressbarn. I would say that I am in the store a few times a month. With the change in weather, I was in dire need of work attire. So, I placed an order for 4 pairs of pants and a dress. I paid extra for 2-day shipping, so that I would have them for work the following week. When I noticed that I had not received my order almost a week later, I tracked my package with FedEx. It said that it was delivered and left on the front porch. I can't believe that they would have left it on the porch when there are always adults home. Regardless, I contacted Dressbarn via email to let them know that I did not receive my order. All they did was confirm my address and led me to believe that they would look into it and I would hear back from them.
Another week went by, and I decided to call customer service. Again, they confirmed my address and told me it was left at the door. I understand that FedEx said that it was left on my porch. But I am telling you that after 2 weeks, I never received a package that I paid extra for 2-day shipping. Their response was that it is FedEx's fault, and they will file a claim with them. Once the claim is resolved, they will credit my account. If I still want my items, then I can place another order. Why in the world would I ever want to place another order, only for this to happen again?!
I just can't believe that in this economy, that is the level of service that any business would provide. Would it really be that hard to expedite a new order today? And once FedEx resolves the claim, then they get reimbursed. I will never shop there ever again. I work in the women's health care field, and I will be telling every woman I come in contact with to never do business with them. After work today, I will be heading across the street to one of their competitors to purchase the pants that I wanted 2 weeks ago. I am sure that they will be happy to accept my business.

I was a loyal customer and have bought many items through the years. Not anymore though. A little back story. A friend gave me a $50.00 gift card for my birthday because she knows I love Dressbarn. On January 11 my husband fell and broke his leg and had to have surgery and be hospitalized for 2 weeks and is now homebound for 2 months On January 14th I took that card to the Greenbriar store (store # 676; manager Sheila **) Greenbriar Town Center 13015 Lee Jackson Memorial Highway, Fairfax, VA 22033 on my way home from the hospital and bought a sweater on sale, and a pair of boots. It’s where I have shopped for as long as they have been there. The total was $44 and change. The sales clerk pointed out that socks were on sale for $2/pair so I added 3 pair socks and my total was $50.84. The clerk gave me a Dressbarn Perks card and some honey money which I looked forward to using.
I saw no reason to keep the receipt or shoe box as all fit wonderfully and I had a lot going on. It is winter, we heat with wood, and my husband is in the hospital. So I burned the box and receipt. I wore boots three times and the leather (pleather) cracked where my toes bend while walking and started peeling off. So on Friday, February 10, when I was in the area I went to return or exchange the boots. I assumed that even without a receipt it would be obvious that they were damaged from poor quality, not anything my fault, and that I could at least exchange for a different style or store credit. I was ready with my honey money and reward card to buy more items.
The manager on duty wouldn’t even look at them. She offered no apology and only said that without the box and receipt I couldn’t expect anything. I gave her my honey money and threw the boots in the trash. I told her I would not be back. Ever. I then had second thoughts and retrieved the boots so I could photograph and send to corporate office. Even with all that’s going on in my life I wanted to follow through with this and give them a chance to right the wrong. I hope that this manager is not the typical. I understand there’s a no receipt, no return rule, but I also know from years I spent in retail that managers have the ability to bend the rules under certain circumstances. If this is how they treat their loyal customers, don’t be surprised when they go elsewhere. I already told my friends of the way I was treated. I am ready willing and able to continue an anti-Dressbarn campaign against this store. I can’t begin to tell you how disappointed I am. I am adamant that I will never return to the Greenbriar store again.

My 1st complaint is on record with Consumer Affairs. This is my second attempt to get help with this horrible company, Dress Barn in Clearwater, Florida, on Gulf to Bay Blvd. After my 1st complaint, I received a phone call from Karen ****, District Sales Manager for Dress Barn, Sept. 7th. She apologized (I thought) for the terrible service and the slanderous remarks from their employee, Marabeth.
Then she went on to tell me that maybe I should consider shopping at another location so I would not run into Marabeth again. It might be more comfortable for me. I explained to her that the employee needed to be disciplined for her action and this is my hometown now and thought that it was pretty pathetic for her to be telling me that I cannot shop in my own area now because they were not going to do anything about it.
Karen went on to tell me that "Shirley" is the actual store manager of the Clearwater store and I should call her if I wanted to come in to shop, just make sure that Shirley was there that day! Can you believe this! I explained that I should not have to organize my schedule with the store manager's and thought it was very unreasonable for her to even suggest such a thing, instead of just disciplining the employee. She made it very clear through the way she expected me to shop out of town that they had no problem with their employee accusing me of stealing my own clothes, even though I had my full receipt with me and accused me of stealing the money that I was returning them for just because I used a new bank card with a different number on it. She asked me what I wanted her to do.
I told her I wanted the employee to be disciplined and a written letter of apology. (I want to sue this company, but was giving them one more chance to show one ounce of character and professionalism.) Looks like we will be waiting for a while for that. Karen told me that she could not guarantee that any action would be taken toward the employee and again told me that I should shop at another location. I repeated this out loud to my husband who was sitting beside me at the time. He was appalled and could not believe what he was hearing either!
Karen went on to tell me that she would send me a letter and a coupon to Dress Barn for all the trouble that I have been put through. It gets better! In the so called apology letter, she included a gift card to Dress Barn for all of $10.! Yes, you read it right, ten whole dollars for all of my trouble, for being accused of being a thief, for the embarrassment of the slanderous remarks flying out of this ladies mouth toward me in front of people that were shopping in the store, that I will undoubtedly be running into around town. It was only worth a ten dollar gift card.
I told her on the phone on the 7th, that in light of our conversation and her unbelievable expectations that I should be the one to leave town or set my schedule to the store manager's schedule that it was quite clear that nothing was going to be done to the employee and I would never shop at Dress Barn again. I told her that I had $187.17 of clothes that I bought there and would be returning. She assured me that no one would give me a hard time if I returned them. So I sent my husband in to the store with the return. (I figured that since I am thinking of filing a lawsuit against the store, I would have no further contact with them.) He went in and guess who was there that day! Good old Marabeth!
He said, "I have a return." She said...If you have too. So It took him a good 20 minutes to return to the car because she was just that slow with her customer service, and guess what now? My refund of $187.17 is missing! It's been five days now and my bank assures me that no transaction to my account has ever been made or even pending! Now I have two calls into Karen **** who will not return my calls and was transferred to the Regional Manager, Trudy, who let her phone ring 30 times and would not answer!

Marabeth the (store manager,) had a ** fit in front of all the customers and started insulting me. First she said that she would not in any way give me anything but store credit and cash was absolutely out of the question. Then in front of all the customers, she wanted to know why I closed my account and told me that I could have stolen these clothes out of someone else's car and am now trying to steal their money too! I was still holding my tongue at this point and reminded her that I have a full receipt with $257.23 that should prove these are my clothes (not that I should have to), and I would be more than happy to show her my ID. (license).
She just started ranting again, how she was not going to do anything for me and reminding everyone in the store within earshot, that these are probably not even my clothes! For all she knew, I stole them out of someone's car. At that point I told here to call her corporate office and I would handle the matter right then and there. She stomped over to the phone and in a very loud voice said, "I will call someone! " I said, "thank you." Then she put the phone down and said, "Okay, I'll go ahead and return it for you. I just don't want to get into an argument about it." This after all she already said and the insults she was throwing around! After the transaction was over, she looked at me and said, "Next time we will do it the right way!" I calmly explained to her that It was done the right way. I had my receipt, a valid bank card and offered my ID, and all I wanted was a simple refund. She informed me in her insulting tone, "It's not the Dress Barn Way!"
I called Dress Barn customer service, talked to Serena, Saturday, the 4th at 2:32 and filed a complaint against the store manager and was informed that they were very sorry, there is no excuse for any of their manager's to ever act that way but probably nothing will ever come of it. She could only pass the complaint along to the district manager (Karen B. ) for a formal complaint to be filed, but if I don't hear from anyone, I can always call back. She said that Karen would call me at her convenience. I asked why she couldn't call at my convenience after all that I have been put through.
Now the attitude started from Serena, the customer service rep. I finally had to say, "You need to calm down, you are supposed to be resolving conflict, not creating it!" Then more attitude went flying. "I can't make Karen read her e-mails, or call you back, this is a holiday weekend, I can't go to her and say Karen please call this woman back! It might be next week sometime before anyone even looks at their email!"
So, Dress Barn, congratulations(!) on your top notch, insulting, condescending, scraping the bottom of the barrel staff that you have accumulated. With all of the people out of work looking for jobs, this is what you hail as your finest hour. And I am only one person who took the time to put it in writing. I can't imagine how many more need to do the same. With as many people out of work, this is what customers get to hand their hard earned money over to.Maybe the corporate office and store employees of Dress Barn should call (BP) for some (more) outstanding business advice and training skills. I will never shop at your stores ever again. Apparently you can afford to lose customers who spend 2 or 3 hundred dollars per visit. How do you treat the ones who can only afford one blouse? Your company is truly pathetic.
Now, I have over $200 of blouses in my closet and know if I try return them, I will go through all of this over again. The damages are in my finances and trusting the wrong company and my personal reputation as a law abiding, honest citizen who was accused of stealing from someone's car and accused of trying to steal the money from the return! It would be bad enough to have this happen in private, but in front of an entire store of customers and other employees. This is now my hometown; there might be people that were in that store when she accused me of those things, that I will go to church with or do business with someday who will think I am a thief or break into people's cars. This is unacceptable, slanderous and needs to be stopped! I want to see action taken against Dress Barn and the store manager responsible for this.

When purchasing two items in the store, I gave the clerk my bank debit card and said that is how I wanted to pay. The clerk urged me to sign up for a Dress Barn credit card and I said, "no". She said I would get 20% off my purchase, but I refused. I repeated that I just wanted to pay with the debit card and did not want a store credit card. The clerk said I could get 20% off my next purchase, so I said okay, but I still wanted to pay for this purchase by debit card. The clerk said okay, took the credit card and then gave me a receipt after running the card. She also gave me a pink packet that said 20% off next purchase.
Two months later, I started getting calls from a collection company saying I was behind in payments on my Dress Barn account. I told them I did not have an account and had paid for my purchases with a debit card. They argued with me then asked for the number on the top of the receipt, which I gave them. They have continued to call me, almost incessantly and have now put my phone number into an automated calling system, which calls at least 3 times daily at a cost of $.90 each time and increased my last phone bill by $147.00. When they called today and I confronted the caller with the phone charges, her response was, "Well, you are making it more by talking". I said I was returning the items unused and would be suing them for any account charges and the phone charges. She hung up quickly then. I want to sue them for this entire charade, but want to make sure I do it correctly and let the public know about the scam they are pulling.

i went into the store last winter 2006 around the months of Jan. 1 purchased 1 blouse. the sales rep offered me the dress barn card, i only accepted the card for emergency purposes since the did have dress casual attire. the sales rep told me one of the perks they we're offering with the card is that if you signed up for the identity protection plan you would receive a free paper shredder. i never used the card.
In March of this year 2007 i received a bill from dress barn for $9.95 i called to see why i was being charged since i never used the card or requested the identity protection plan. i spoke to rep JP she asked for my basic info: name, address etc.i verified the info then she stated to access your account i would need your Dress Barn account number. i paused & stated if you are offering the identity protection plan thru dress barn & have billed me you should know the account number/she stated they we're a 3rd party biller for dress barn offering the identity protection plan. this made no sense to me i adv her that i was not going to give her may account number this is how fraud happens.
i advised her that i did not want the plan i am definately not giving you the account number. she stated she could submit to cancel the info with the basic info she had. stated since i did not have the info on how the plan worked she could send me the packet and in the future if i wanted the plan i could call back. In March of this year 2007 i received another bill for additional charges. i called again advised the 2nd rep that i did not request identity protection.
I asked for a sup they adv me i had to place my dispute in writing. I wrote a letter explaining as i have here. i even mailed them the info on the plan back which i never opened because i never intended on activating the plan. After this i received 2 additional bills. They responded back after about 4 weeks indicating all charges will be removed. On Tuesday 07/17/07 i received another bill for $62.91 with late fees and past due charges. i do not owe this company any money. this is fraud. i advised them in the letter i have never! received any free paper shredder from them and i adv them in march i did not want the plan. i want these charges removed from this acct.
i have closed the Dress Barn Account due to their neglence and false information. i do not want to pay a bill for the neglence of their representative. if, i had requested the plan and just did not cancel it i would pay for the charges but, i never did nor did i receive any free paper shredder from them.
