Aside from the $21.00 recurring charge they make no mention of until you wake up one morning and check your bank account and there is money stolen by this "company", I honestly have nothing good to say! I initially used this "company" or whatever you can call it to check my scores so that I could apply for a car loan. The scores I was given were completely inaccurate! I went to the dealership and spoke to the rep there at which point he asked me where I got my numbers and I told him.

My actual scores were way lower than what TransUnion told me, leading me to believe that they dropped my score. I called to have my (subscription) cancelled and the little girl who answered the call was very rude and didn't seem to understand what I was telling her. I tried back with another little girl and she was just as bad and when I asked to speak to her supervisor she dropped the dumb act and told me that her supervisor was in the United States...so where is their office??? I could get a straight answer on that either. This "company" is so shady! I do not urge anyone to use them for any reason whatsoever! Hopefully I receive my refund so that I don't have to keep going on this nonsense.

I login into the TransUnion site off the US Bank site and it show that my report was last updated 9/14/18. It also states that the next report will be available 8/13/2038. 20 years later? This is BS. Last month I complained when they stated a report "as of date" with a new update two months before the last update. We are suppose to trust accurate reporting by this company? I complained to US Bank also and they are checking it out. Why is US Bank endorsing this service to their customers via a link on their customer online account page when it gives bad info. Credit reports and info needs to be correct. This company, TransUnion is not a good choice for anyone.

Their online dispute site is a joke. I filed a dispute to get my brothers information off my credit. It wasn't anything bad, it's just doesn't belong to me. My wife even has this problem as one of her sister's stuff is on her record and it's bad. The common factor with our issues are our names and social security numbers are similar to our siblings. I don't understand why TransUnion is the only one of the credit reports that is doing this. Do they have monkeys processing their data?

The only way you could freeze your credit or deal with it is to buy their product for $20 per month on the website if not you have to call. The only reason I gave it one star is because there is no 0 stars.

So I have been checking my Credit Scores both on a hard copy TransUnion sent to me thru the mail and on Credit Karma. I noticed recently that an old debt had fallen off Equifax but not TransUnion. My concern though is I have a very small loan out with my bank and they have not update my payment I made from August but Equifax and Experian has. When I called to report that this was incorrect, the Supervisor who I could tell was making stuff up and repeating what I was saying really did not know what he was talking about. My bank reports to the Credit Bureau my payments between the 31st and the 10th of the following month. There is absolutely NO GOOD REASON why TU should not have already updated by balance and payment history to reflect correctly! Unfortunately we are stuck with this crappy business but I wish they would get their act together. You are playing with people's credit here and frankly this is causing us a lot of problems!

I have been monitoring my credit scores with the different companies including TransUnion for about 5 years. During that time I noticed that TransUnion treats the same credit activity much differently, more negatively than the other reporting companies. For example, if my debit balance increased by $300 they will reduce my score by 9 points while the other companies only 2 points. Recently, I paid off a $25,000 loan but TransUnion only increased my score by 1 point. I have consistently maintained an excellent rating with the other companies but TransUnion will not give me an excellent rating no matter what I do. They only look to lower your score by some completely arbitrary method of scoring.

I specifically went to the TransUnion website to order all credit scores and reports, as advertised for $29.95, for TransUnion, Equifax, and Experian. I clicked on "Complete Your Credit Picture". It took days for them to bill my card, and they only gave me TransUnion info, and billed me $21.95 instead. How would I even order only the TransUnion info if I clicked on the 3-Bureau Credit Report & Scores? There's something wrong with their webpage or User Interface.

I argued with their customer support, but their representatives are not too bright. I can tell I know more about computers and the interwebs than they do. But it still doesn't address the problem of why it took that long for TransUnion to clear from Pending on my bank's account history, when this does not happen for any other purchases, and why they billed me for something completely different, something I didn't even click on, something that I saw no option to click on, given the route I took on their webpage. Also, they have no accurate history of me, which made using TransUnion pointless to begin with. In my situation, I was better off trying the other 2 Bureaus and ignoring TransUnion.

In February 2018, after hearing on the news that a big box store's customers' accounts had been hacked, I logged into annualcreditreport.com to request the free yearly credit report we are entitled to. TransUnion was the first and easiest site to access, so I requested my report from them. Everything in my report looked accurate. I was satisfied and I never logged back on their website. This month, July, I happened to peruse my credit card statement, and noticed a charge of $21.68 for TransUnion. Called credit card company, and was told TransUnion had been charging me $21.68 for the past 6 months (I admit I was negligent in checking my monthly charges before paying my bill).

I immediately called TransUnion to tell them I had not signed up for anything with them, and requested a refund. A very rude manager insisted I enrolled in their monthly membership program, and that I had given them my credit card number. I absolutely did not do either, especially since I never subscribe to any monthly membership because I tend to forget I have that membership and never use it. In the end he agreed to give me 3 months' refund, and I cancelled my membership (which I am sure I did not sign up for). Do not ever request credit reports from this dishonest company! Now that I've been reading reviews, I see that they defraud consumers by enrolling them in monthly subscriptions without letting them know. Nowhere in the website is it clear that you have signed on to their services. Buyer beware!

However when I would try to update my credit reports The site charges another $29.95 to update it, so what is the $19.95/month for? I have no idea... The cancellation process seemed easy enough, but no refund for my Membership, I have to wait my month out to see if they try to charge me again. Transunion will email you. In the email you will check a box to check your credit. They charge you $1. You do not realize that this was a 7-day trial for a subscription. After that, they charge you $19.95 for a continuing subscription. The following is a quote from another... of thousands... that says this: "My understanding was that it cost $19,95 for the report, I filled in my credit card information, and received the report for my landlord. It was my own negligence in not noticing that $19,95 has been charged to my credit card every month since then for six additional months. Apparently I 'subscribed' to a monthly service, but I certainly the word 'subscription' does not stand out in my memory. It must have been in the fine print." WE ALL KNOW HOW IMPORTANT A CREDIT SCORE IS! From what I can see on this site and from my personal experience with them, Transunion are flagrantly engaging in illegal practices! When questioning a claim of outstanding debt, I was told "You should not contact the originator of the debt claim as the debt now rests with Transunion." After waiting 6 weeks for Transunion to dispute the debt and revert I called them and asked for the claimant's contact details. Transunion call center refused to give these details to me. Having only had 1 medical bill in the US in 33 years it wasn't difficult to find the source of the debt claim, it just simply involved listening to a call-hold message for almost 2 hours to get through to the first rep.

This rep was at least helpful after I had to wait so long so I didn't vent at her anywhere near as much as I wanted to. She informed me that not only had the hospital entered my personal address information incorrectly (listing a US address when I was actually residing in Denmark) there was also a charge for a subcontracted doctor which I had never been informed of during the consultation. Nobody ever noticed that the bills were being sent to a non-existent address!!! At least this rep was able to give me the contact detail of the originator of the debt who I contacted straight away. The rep confirmed bills had been sent to a non-existent address. They also had no record that I was a self-pay patient so the outstanding bill only 126 dollars rather than 315 which they were going to charge an insurance company.

Summary: After 2.5 hours on the phone I was able to pay the outstanding 126 dollars debt which I never knew existed as I had lived overseas for 33 years and never had to worry about credit history. The company also informed me that Transunion would be informed same day and instructed them to remove the record of the debt. 3 days on and this record is still showing against my credit score. I have called Transunion's "Delaware registered phone number" (which connects you to a call center in the Philippines) and I asked a very specific question: "How long will it take Transunion to remove the outstanding debt remark from my credit history." I repeatedly asked the same question and the representative evaded the question every time refusing to even give me an estimate of the time required to remove the remark and clear my credit score.

The reps are clearly trained to ONLY give feedback which guides you to pay Transunion to clear the debt and/or to sign up to their subscription service. They will not give you any indication that the debt can still be resolved with the originator. I am currently registering a claim with Consumer Financial Protection Bureau: https://complaint.consumerfinance.gov 1-855-411-2372 and I would encourage all parties who been treated unfairly by this company to do the same.

My initial contact with TransUnion was on Nov. 16, 2017 when I needed a credit report for a potential landlord. My understanding was that it cost $19,95 for the report, I filled in my credit card information, and received the report for my landlord. It was my own negligence in not noticing that $19,95 has been charged to my credit card every month since then for six additional months. Apparently I 'subscribed' to a monthly service, but I certainly the word 'subscription' does not stand out in my memory. It must have been in the fine print.

TransUnion did send monthly reports, but I thought they were promotional. At no time did they affirm or inform that $19.95 had been charged to my account. When I phoned the company to cancel my subscription, they said they were not able to provide an email validation or record of my agreement. I'm out of pocket $119.70. Company did not offer to return money. I blame myself for not catching it sooner on my credit card statements. Please advice consumers that it is deceptively easy to 'subscribe' to TransUnion for something you don't want. I now have concerns that this situation will come back at me and affect my credit rating.

This morning I was going through my bank statement. On 05/07/18 TransUnion took their normal monthly fee from my bank account. I have the email they sent to confirm and screenshot of bank transaction. Now to get my money back and stop them from future withdraws, they're worst than the creditors because they have access to your accounts and they will access them. I tried to get the billing department. I'm told to contact sales representative if I have question regarding billing. I will let you know how it turns out.

So I tried on Sunday and it still showed NA, so I called again, again they told me they will call or send an email to let me know when I could access my account, it has been a week and a half and no one called or emailed me. It seems to me there was never an issue with the system and they were lying. Today called and asked TransUnion to refund me for the non-service. What a waste.

First off hold times are ridiculous if you call first thing in the morning when on the East Coast. Longer holds more understandable if calling after that as more time zones would be calling in. Why not set up a call queue like many companies have to return calls in the order received. Secondly, why do I have to input answers to all questions if you are not yet open? Why not advise us to call back during business hours and state what that is, INCLUDING time zone.

15 HOURS or more I have spent wasting my time talking to TransUnion reps. They have given me the wrong information, not done what they said they would do, not called when they said they would, started a dispute in my account without my permission, dropped my credit score for no reason, the list is endless. As others have said, unexplainedly they dropped my credit score 20 plus pts in November. NOTHING was wrong with my credit.

After at least 10 phone calls to them, someone finally admitted TransUnion decided to change their scoring model and it dropped everyone's score. They did not announce it. I spoke to a government agency and they said they didn't know about it either. I will not go talk to offshore reps as they are never correct. The US reps are not any better. I question the legality of this company and think there should be a class action lawsuit. Credit scores have an enormous impact on people's lives. TransUnion SHOULD NOT be allowed to harm everyone this way.

To boot, I was able to dispute the first transaction with my bank but there's no option to do so with the second, identical charge. Very strange.

The background to this incident is that my credit score, as reported on Credit Karma dropped from 851 to 823, for no apparent reason. I wanted to find out why, so I called them on their 'contact us' phone line. This was about 7-10 days ago: I spoke to a TransUnion representative on the phone. I asked if she could tell me why my credit score, as shown on Credit Karma, had declined. She told me that TransUnion was not involved in calculating my score; that it was Credit Karma who determined my score. I advised her of my previous dealings with Credit Karma, who told me that they did not calculate scores; they just provided access to them. The TransUnion rep then told me that I should check with Equifax. I told her that Credit Karma had expressly advised me (as confirmed on their site) that they obtained their scores from TransUnion and not Equifax. The TransUnion rep then asked me to hold on and she would access my file.

She asked me some 'security questions' and told me that I had passed the security screening. She then reviewed my file and told me that there was absolutely nothing in my file that would account for a decrease in my credit score. I expressed frustration and said that I was being led in circles and I reiterated that it could only be TransUnion that had decreased my score. She then told me that the only way I could find out why my score had decreased was to access my file on TransUnion's website, and she provided me with the URL for their website. I accessed the site, and while doing so I was again asked a number of security questions, which included the provision of credit card information. I then accessed my file, but was no further ahead in trying to determine why my score had decreased. There was nothing in my file that addressed that issue.

I signed out of their site, and within 5 minutes and I received an email receipt from TransUnion, thanking me for my application for them to be my credit monitor, and advising that I had been charged $19.95. This was outrageous, as I had not intended to pay them anything or apply for anything. I was simply following her direction that I log onto their site to ascertain why my credit score had decreased. I immediately called TransUnion and a different agent answered the phone. When I started to explain what had happened, she immediately told me that she would cancel the transaction and refund the $19.95. I haven't confirmed with my credit card issuer, but I expect that they followed through. If not, I will take further steps. In any event, this interaction with TransUnion was completely unsatisfactory, almost to the point of being fraudulent, and I think you should know about it. Thanks.

After going back and studying the website... Yes I was in the wrong. I should have paid a lot closer attention to the details. This type of scam I am sure works well for them and would bet that most of their victims... I mean customers have no idea that they are paying monthly. My anger and frustration will probably reduce my ability to write coherently. Nonetheless, I would like to blurt out a few things. I was only able to see my credit score via Bank of America (some program I signed up for with them a couple years ago, I think). I wanted to complain about my credit score to TransUnion because I paid off ALL of my loans over a year ago, and when I did my credit score actually dipped. I reviewed my credit report, and everything looks accurate, so why is my score not awesome?? I did make a couple late payments to my home loan (before I sold my house), but that was almost a year and a half ago. Since then, like I said, I paid off my loans and credit card and have barely used my credit cards since (and when I do, I pay it off immediately). It's total ** that my credit score isn't at least 720.

TransUnion's website indicated that I can only contact them if I create an account first, so I did. But, first of all, they only offer a way to dispute something on your report, not to make other complaints. The only way to voice my complaint, apparently, was to call them. So, I did. I received a message that there is a higher than normal call volume, so please hold. Uh huh, so I wait a few minutes, give up and wait a few days. Again I receive this message and listen to music. After waiting 5 minutes, I give up and write this.

Another thing that irks me is that after I created an account with TransUnion, I couldn't view my credit score anywhere on their website (while logged in). It seems they wanted me to pay them money to be able to obtain information that they created about me! I still have access to my score via BofA, but I find it very WRONG that they get away with this.

We need to elect folks who care about our privacy and our right to be informed, and electing Trump and his greedy, spoiled, immoral buddies has moved us extremely far from ever obtaining common sense protections for common people. TransUnion occupies an important position in the country for everyone knows TransUnion and TransUnion is one of the 3 major and official credit reporting bureaus. However, TransUnion is not living up to its name nor it is honoring its position for TransUnion does not do the right thing when it comes to customers who are no one else but the citizens of this nation for TransUnion is already negligent, careless, uncaring and it is showing the threads of becoming corrupted.

I am just an example of those many that TransUnion has impacted because of its own faults and as it turns out TransUnion does not show me any portion of my credit file nor it gives any updates or alerts unless I pay its monthly subscription; those actions are unacceptable.

Meanwhile, TransUnion does play a major role in the decisions of creditors to reject me. However, TransUnion has an incomplete file about me since it only shows one employer listed and that employers name is misspelled. For a long time, TransUnion refused to give me a credit score but now that it supports the unethical Credit Torres Services- Suddenly a low credit score appears and that credit score is inaccurate because I do have positive credit lines in good standing that TransUnion has failed to list in my credit file because of its incompetence. I did tried to follow its dispute format but since I am not a paid subscriber - TransUnion refused to allow me to dispute. TransUnion unacceptable performance has been reinforced by its alliance with Torres Credit Services which has caused high rates of issues to the people and also by TransUnion acquisition of Factor Trust; both entities are fraudulent and corrupted.

Nowadays, there are all these emerging credit reporting bureaus aside from the 3 major credit reporting bureaus and it was not long ago that TransUnion was officially reprimanded and cited and although the people might not realize it- TransUnion does not hold supreme sovereignty anymore and those times when it was forbidden and unthinkable to question the great TransUnion; Those time are over- I do question the great TransUnion for it has wronged me. Therefore, I would be able to proceed if the time to hold TransUnion accountable comes. My advice for the people is to question TransUnion for that there are ways to make TransUnion to comply when TransUnion has wronged the people and it refused to correct its mistakes but I just cannot talk about them. Is it not wonderful? An entity who has the duties of guiding the people and show their transparency but instead that entity is working against the people.

They speak very poor English, difficult to understand, and read the same BS over and over from a script. They do not satisfactorily answer you, they go round in circles making you more and more frustrated. I asked to speak to his supervisor after he kept trying to sell me my FICO score instead of answering my question to my satisfaction.

After the Equifax data breach last year, we rather quickly placed a credit freeze on my credit with all three credit bureaus. We also did the same for my wife's credit for Equifax and Experian with no difficulty. However, we were unable to do the same for her credit with TransUnion via the TransUnion website. The request "could not be fulfilled online at this time, based upon the data provided." After multiple attempts to freeze her credit, we decided to call the 888 number and place the freeze over the telephone. We were able to accomplish this, but the process was extremely frustrating. No disrespect to India or the Indian people, but the Indian gentleman we spoke with was very difficult for us to understand, and apparently the same was true for him. He asked us the same question multiple times and repeated himself multiple times. He did get the freeze put on the account eventually.

Reading from a prepared script, he told me that we would receive information confirming the freeze in 7-10 business days no less than three times. When he asked at the end of the call if there was anything he could help us with, I made the unfortunate mistake of saying yes. As we had been unable to secure a copy of my wife's TransUnion credit report online, I asked if we could have a copy of that sent by mail. He then asked me what my wife's name was, and my wife's Social Security number at least two more times each, as well as having me provide our mailing address again. He then asked to put me on hold. After a minute or so, he came back on the line and asked me what MY Social Security number was. I told him I was not asking for any service for myself, just my wife. He then said, "OK, is there anything else I can do for you?" Much the wiser at this point, I said there wasn't and thanked him for his assistance.

I would note here that the information we provided over the telephone was the EXACT SAME INFORMATION we had provided online on multiple occasions with no success. I must say also, that I am not particularly confident we will receive what we requested by mail in 7-10 business days. I decided it would be appropriate to send TransUnion an e-mail to their customer service department to relate my experience to them as unsatisfactory and to suggest they not have people in India (or in any other country) trying to help people in the United States with this type of important transaction.

After several minutes of searching, I realized that there was no avenue to provide this type of feedback to TransUnion via e-mail. Therefore, I must conclude that TransUnion has no real interest in receiving feedback from consumers. I cannot imagine ever wanting to purchase a product or service from them in the future (other than requesting they take the freeze off my credit, which will cost me another $7.50). TransUnion should be embarrassed that something that takes literally minutes online with Equifax and Experian cannot be accomplished with TransUnion without considerable aggravation.

It must have been the Equifax breach, in fact. I don't clearly recall what I signed up for with TransUnion, but do I know that, whatever I signed up for, it was supposed to be complimentary (free) owing to the circumstances surrounding my data having been potentially compromised. Evidently, I gave them a credit card number (as one sometimes does to create an account).

I just discovered that they've been charging me $21.70 (after tax) for several months. I called and had the membership canceled and the charges (inclusive of tax) reversed. The customer service representative seemed to have had prior experience with calls like mine. What an awful experience, and what a huge waste of time. Also, tip of the hat for the irony associated with having my credit card wrongly charged in connection with my asking for a credit report after I'd been told that my personal identifying information had been potentially compromised.

When in and read through my options, which is exactly one, I was left with the impression this was doing a month trial. However, it automatically signs you up for a recurring monthly subscription. Grew up on the internet and am privy to most of the scams, but I admit whoever programmed this is a marketing god.

So after feeling a 19.95x4 sting to the credit card, I decided to unsubscribe to their wonderful services. Went to the website and tried to stop my subscription but there is no way to do this via the same portal which I started it. You have to call in and ask. Their customer support agent was difficult and had difficulty with the baseline of communication. But after dealing with a full day of these requests, it’s hard to blame them for the bleak disposition. I was reminded that I made a mistake and I would have to pay for those mistakes. The behavior is predatory, they are targeting people that have poor credit and their website is built to be misleading.

After several calls to TransUnion and my Creditors; Transunion is still not reporting my monthly payments made to the creditors. This is on several accounts. Not just one. Transunion is manipulating credit scores. Something must be done about this. Transunion blames the creditors for not reporting but payments are posted to Experian and Equifax. Capital One even sent me a posting of when they reported to Transunion. If you're late on a payment it's ironic how fast they become then.

I wanted to upload a document to support my dispute so the lady emailed me a link to the same website that got STUCK!! This morning I got a POSTCARD!!!! From Transunion advising that, at my request, it has placed a 90 day Alert in my credit file. It says on its website that it sends the Fraud Alerts to the other credit reporting agency. I never requested it and I don't want it. I previously complained that I couldn't get my credit report from it or any of the credit agencies. I think this Alert will just about kill all my credit. Bang. Done. Alert equals no credit on top of what Equifax has done to mess everybody's credit up.

To top it off, I cannot create an account to contact them and cannot contact them otherwise because they can't verify my identity. Of course, nobody is available by phone. Complete stonewalling. Goodbye all credit for 90 days unless, of course, Transunion is putting Alerts on everyone who is trying to get a copy of his credit report because it is unable to provide reports to all of Equifax's victims within the time limit. So now I have a Fraud Alert and can't get it off my report. Transunion still hasn't sent me a credit report.

I completely agree with everyone who wrote a scathing review here about the ongoing $19.95 per month fee. I called the customer service agent who was rude and also seemed quite trained to give me standard responses like I had chosen this option (though there is no option to choose other than "run report"), that I was informed in advance that the charges were recurring, blah blah blah. His delivery was just so rehearsed and he had no sense of surprise when I brought this up, so obviously, this scam, as well as the fee, is a recurring event.

Like others said in their reviews, it's not very clear that you'll be charged because the message is off to the right and in a small font with some stock image of a customer service rep so it doesn't look like a menu item. I also think I clicked on this link because I thought I was getting a free report that I'm entitled to once per year so it's extremely misleading. It's my fault for not seeing this (and waiting so long to notice!) but the way they handle these matters is atrocious and they probably get a few hundred dollars from each person before the account is canceled so they could easily make a good revenue stream with a scam like this.

Haven't even tried to contact them and after reading several other reviews, it's not an easy process. Even when you read it, it states nowhere that the subscription is attached to the click here option. It goes through the process of taking your information then asks for your credit card number...which directly states next to it that it’s used to get your credit score and they cannot find your score without it.

There is no "checkout" process nor does it let you know in advance you will be spending $19.95 for what you are doing. I phoned them less than an hour after trying to get my credit report to explain that it in no way states what you are subscribing to and was unable to receive my money back. The guy couldn’t do anything to resolve my question, the whole call was useless. When I questioned that because they show my Depth as 2 years, he changed his answer to "It's how long it will take you to pay off your loans." Since there is a definition on the website that conflicts with that, I just said, "Let me talk to someone else." I got his supervisor. She proceeded to explain that the credit score has no meaning, and cannot be used for anything. I asked why I need their service. She said, "So you can know what your score is." But why? What does it tell me? What action should I take based upon the score? She started talking over me and interrupting me.

TU has actively caused significant financial loss, embarrassed and humiliated me publicly, and caused extreme emotional duress. My scores with all CRA's are in the 750's. I have been saving for a new car and have about a 60% down payment based on a 2017 leftover with all the dealer incentives. My credit union has the best rates going at 2.25% and a .25% discount for auto-pay bringing the loan amount down to 2%. The dealer incentives for using your own financing is roughly $8,000. Essentially a $32K car for $24K.

I fill out all the loan apps online and go to the credit union the next morning to speak to the loan officer and let them copy all of my ID, paycheck stubs, etc. I am told by the credit union that TU has refused to provide them a report. We try to call TU together and they have us stuck in voice mail jail for over 2 hours trying to get through to a person. They kept hanging up on us. Then they say I have a freeze (which was never requested) on my credit report and I need a pin they allegedly mailed out in 2004.

I go home to look through an old lawsuit where TU had refused to remove inaccurate information. I never received anything. There was a letter around that time that TU sent to my attorney which I had in my file stating they had a credit alert on my account based on the fraudulent line of credit opened. From 2004 - 2008 I was fighting with TU (and the other CRA's) for falsifying information on my report. It was a complex matter involving 10 different names entities, one of which was TU. My file was put into "special handling" by TU and I was told I was labeled a trouble-maker because of their haphazard way of conducting business. At that time, they kept hanging up on me, refused to talk and a lawyer was the only way to get resolution (unfortunately - he retired).

Flash forward to now, TU is still claiming they won't talk to me because I am in "special handling" with a fraud unit. They kept hanging up on me, refused to provide information on how to unlock the account, refused to reset any stupid PIN number and said essentially I am SOL and they refuse to provide any information to any bank and that I better get used to paying 100% cash for anything I want. They did confirm I have excellent credit and that's "too bad" at one point in the calls and I demanded to speak to a supervisor.

I was told to hold on and they hung up. The whole thing was absolutely crazy. During one call, they wanted evidence I was me - so they asked me 20 validating multiple choice questions to identify where I have lived, who I do business with, etc. Even though they believe I really am me, and my bank has copies of all my ID, driver's license, passport (and even a fingerprint from when I opened the account) - they will not release my report to underwriting.

In the meantime, I am so embarrass because I signed a retail receipt with the intent to purchase the new vehicle and pick it up yesterday and have my downpayment check and the loan check for the full amount. The bank and I coordinated it not expecting the delay. I am now humiliated that I had to call the dealer to tell him my saga which sounds like a load of crap and that I didn't get the loan because I have bad credit or something. I also told my boss (the CEO of my company) to expect a call from the bank for employment verification on the loan. When he asks about the new car, MORE embarrassment. On top of that, I lost the deal on the leftover. So what this means is that once TU decides to release the info, the same car will cost me an additional $8K when all is said and done.

I think TU should be paying that difference since it was their refusal to work with anyone and give us the runaround. Here's why I don't believe there was a freeze every placed on the file - I opened a line of instant credit at a department store in 2015 by filling out a form at the cash register to get a discount special on what I was buying that day. It went through in 2-3 minutes with nothing more than a drivers license and it was a really strange experience because it was such a large credit line. Obviously, TU gave a less secure line of credit access at that time. I really think the way they do business is horrible, they do not work with people in any regard. Hanging up, disconnecting the call, constant transferring to frustrate the consumer for hours seem to be a design to make the consumer go away.

First, you have to understand, 'credit lock' is a TransUnion product they charge for - and that they have manipulated their website to steer you away from a 'security freeze', which is free. Of course, after the breach/debacle with Equifax, Transunion is ready to pounce in predatory fashion and ONCE AGAIN exploit the consumer's misfortune by ensuring you are NOT ABLE to get a security freeze (one again, your right to completely free security).

They have completely blocked EVERYONE's ability to complete a security freeze online, a process that takes seconds to complete. At the end of this process you will receive a message to contact them via phone. Once you call, you will guided through the security prompts and in the end, you will be informed they are (once again) unable to process your request and you will need to talk to a representative... After which you will transferred to a busy signal.

*** Remember, if you can't place the security freeze you are completely entitled to, your only option to protect yourself is to purchase TransUnion's Credit Lock product... Funny how that works. FYI, ignore the mis-information ALL of the bureaus/CRAs are promoting on a Security Freeze. They are easy to do. AND - you can apply for credit at any time - just be ready to provide your pin to the creditor. It's that simple! Next, rinse and repeat, over and over again. I have literally attempted to get this done dozens of times over the 4 days since the Equifax debacle was initially reported. Way to go TransUnion! Another clear cut example of the corruption that exists not only with your relationship to the financial institutions, but as an individual corporation with WAY TOO MUCH power. Transunion electronically authenticated and verified my identity via it's website, "www.MySmartMove.com". Transunion electronically requested my credit card payment in exchange for credit report. Transunion electronically accepted my payment via the Transunion MySmartMove website. Transunion electronically determined the validity/ authorization of my payment. Transunion electronically notifies Consumer after transaction is complete that it provides NO RECEIPT to the Consumer for the payment they have already made.

Transunion, allegedly, electronically determined the individual third party's identity requesting my "private and sensitive" credit information as worthy to receive it. Transunion electronically approved the validity of this individual's request and acted upon it. Transunion electronically approved of, and carried out, the transmission of my "private and sensitive" credit profile coming from an electronic request from an individual with no pre-existing account. Transunion delivered my 'private and sensitive' credit profile to the other party's email address immediately.

At no time during the receiving of this request, aiding in this request, encouraging and promoting of this request (and those of similar nature) for profit, pulling, gathering, assimilating, validating, accepting payment for, and /or transmission of my 'private and sensitive' credit information, did Transunion demand ANY physical verification from this private individual, nor from myself. Yet Transunion is now demanding physical proof from me in order to learn what they have reported about me.

Their email tells me they NOW require the following from me: Physical copy of my state identification card. Physical copy of my social security card. Name, address, phone number, date of birth – ALL information I have already provided and Transunion approved, without ANY physical verification whatsoever, as sufficient to permit someone else to view my credit profile, at my expense. And to add insult to injury, Transunion penalizes the Consumer with a 30+ day waiting period for the same information they transmitted via email to an individual, of whom they have NO physical proof of identity, after the CONSUMER has paid for the report they deny them access to! When you are applying for a house, you don't have 30+ days to find out what WRONG INFORMATION they provided. The Consumer could wind up homeless in that time.

Transunion refuses to electronically provide me, the subject of its credit report, with the same exact information it electronically transmitted a mere 48-hours ago to a complete stranger after charging me $35.00. Transunion say in response to my confused query when I cannot find my access to said report: "THE REPORTS WILL BE MAILED VIA US MAIL DUE TO THE "SENSITIVITY" OF THE REPORTS WITHIN 30 CALENDAR DAYS OF OUR RECEIPT OF YOUR REQUEST AND VALIDATION OF YOUR IDENTITY." [emphasis mine]

Yet... Transunion 'validated my identity' electronically in 2 -3 minutes online when Transunion PROFITED from doing do. Transunion then transmitted my same 'private and sensitive' information to a complete stranger in under 10 minutes - with NO PHYSICAL PROOF WHATSOEVER, who was not a company or even affiliated with any company and did not have a pre-existing account with Transunion. Transunion is impeding even the possibility of the Consumer defending themselves against mis-information provided by them in their flawed reporting either purposely, negligently, accidentally or otherwise.

Transunion’s “Anti-Consumer-For-Profit-Policies,” deny the Consumer, the Subject and the Purchaser of the report the right or any ability to dispute incorrect and negative information provided by Transunion in a timely manner. Transunion's refusal in this matter jeopardizes ALL Consumers using their MySmartMove.com service the ability to acquire necessary housing without undue prejudice, hardship and cost. They deny the Consumer even "the right to know" if Transunion has committed libel (defamation) against them during a critical transaction.

Transunion's avarice is an open and notorious threat against Consumer Safety and Confidence. They operate www.MySmartMove.Com with an obvious intent to harm the public-at-large, without conscience, while profiting from that same avarice for as long as they can get away with it. To begin with, I am filing a Complaint with CFPB and my state Attorney General. They are manipulating Consumer Protection Laws to gain an unfair advantage and grossly misusing their role as a Consumer Credit Reporting Bureau.

Transunion is a for-profit company yet reliant upon public trust and governmental oversight. By directly profiting from their abuse of the Consumer's Right and NEED to know, their disingenuous machinations risk disastrous consequences for unwitting individuals, groups and families alike who are dependent upon proper and correct reporting by this company for life sustaining necessities, i.e. housing.

The real estate clause, "Time is of the essence," is essential to the fair and equitable outcome of any proposed real estate transaction. Transunion short circuiting the rules for their own profit; aggressively and unfairly penalizes the Consumer. Here in Washington State, that clause is implied in every real estate transaction. Yet Transunion denies the Consumer paying for the report any chance of fair or equitable outcome or even an opportunity to deny negative mis-information provided by Transunion regarding the Subject and Payor of the report. Transunion is acting in Bad Faith towards the public. This harmful service and website should be served a "Cease and Desist Order," shut down and made to refund all Consumer monies it has collected in BAD FAITH, immediately.

P.S. After the credit application, they advertised credit monitoring and 'Get Your Score' for $1.00. I thought that was a good deal. I saw my report and all of the inaccuracies including that it was missing my address from the last SIX YEARS, which is kind of important to a potential landlord. My score was good, but that is beside the point of the incorrect and important information they were providing about me that was UNTRUE. Anyhow, they informed me via email after I paid that they do NOT provide Consumers with a receipt for their purchase and that I was supposedly offer a chance to print one - which I was not. Then the next email informed me that the $1.00 service I signed up for was only for 7 days and that I would be charged $19.95 per month! Incredibly horrible ethics by Transunion.

I asked what they showed and they told me I had to pay for it. I went to the TransUnion site to pay a one time fee of 9.95 and it started asking too much info for me to transmit over the internet AFTER I gave my credit card info. So I let it go. Then my discover card showed a 19.95 RECURRING fee from TransUnion a few days later. This is out and out FRAUD! I clicked on the ONE TIME CHARGE and the system put me in recurring payments without my authorization.

Having worked as a fraud agent for a bank I know recurring charges can be impossible to get rid of, in many cases, unless the company cooperates. I called TU, mad as a hornet, and threatened to call the FTC if they did not correct this. I think I still will, because TransUnion is suppose to be the pinnacle of integrity. Even more than banks. Charging that kind of money to find out your credit score is obscene. I am sure they are making millions off it though.

I was pretty happy with that until I was until I purchased a car. After that my TransUnion score went 60 points lower. They also reported that I had a card closed that wasn't closed. My other two scores have stayed the same or gone up. I have written a letter to them about the closed account that's not closed and stated that my score has dropped exponentially. Of course there's really no one you can speak to about this and there's no explanation.

Now I need a loan to pay down credit card and it is very difficult for me to get one because for some stupid reason every lender wants to use Transunion. I feel that it is incredibly unfair that we have no say in our credit or our scores or why they are what they are. When it's great, it's great and there's no issue. But I would love an explanation as to why my score has dropped to the point it has. I'd probably not make this a big deal, if it wasn't just Transunion. I have some hard inquiries and one delinquent account for $1200. That's it, no late payments, cards and car loan in good standing. Clearly I am not the only one with this issue. TransUnion offers monthly monitoring on their website with “UNLIMITED updates to your TransUnion Credit Report and Score”. That is a direct quote from their site - caps and all. The monthly fee is $19.95. The unlimited report updates appealed to me. I can be a bit OCD at times and I liked the idea of having up to the minute data at my fingertips. The price tag of $19.95 per month didn't sound all that unreasonable considering I was going to get “UNLIMITED updates to your TransUnion Credit Report and Score”.

Before I pulled out my credit card I figured I should read a review or two. I found what I was looking for on a site called moneyunder30. The review had all the information I was looking for, but with an added bonus. If you use the link from the article you can get all of the unlimited refreshes for just $9.95 per month. Yep - it's the exact same TU service for half the price. I decide to go for it since it's only $9.95 and the TU site indicates I won't be charged until after my free trial. Another direct quote - "You may cancel your subscription at any time during the trial period without charge." What have I got to lose, right? Well the answer to that question is $9.95 plus tax.

Within 47 seconds of my subscription membership that includes my unlimited refreshes I discovered that TransUnion is a big, fat liar. You will not get unlimited refreshes of your credit report. You will get a daily refresh. "Your TransUnion Credit Report and Comparison Report are available for refresh once every 24 hour period." I shouldn't have to explain to a huge company like TransUnion that there is technically a difference between daily and unlimited. I mean, they are trusted with very sensitive information. Information that if not accurate and very particular could have an enormous negative impact on our lives.

Be afraid, folks. Very afraid. Because I did have to try and explain the difference between the product I subscribed to and the service they delivered. You might be wondering why I even bothered trying to call and explain. Why not just cancel online? The option is there and I was well within the trial period. Turns out the trial period must only last 11 minutes because that is about how long it took for TransUnion to charge my card for the first month.

If you find a need to call TransUnion, do yourself a favor and take a sedative first. The representative I spoke with genuinely did not have a clue about the product I was attempting to cancel or the information in my account. Eventually he assured me the subscription was canceled and a refund had been initiated. I'm not going to hold my breath.

If you are considering paying $9.95 or $19.95 for daily report refreshes from TransUnion - don't. Just go to TrueIdentity. It's part of TransUnion and they give you the daily report refreshes for free. Seriously, like no credit card required free. The exact same report in the exact same format provided by the exact same company. One last thing, please don't ever pay TransUnion for your credit score. It's not a FICO score, it's a Vantage score. Knowing your Vantage score isn't going to help you. I'm pretty sure they just have an intern spinning a Wheel of Fortune style board and whatever it lands on is your Vantage score.

Back in December, I reported to TransUnion that my Social Security had possibly been jeopardized and also froze a credit card from my credit union. They were polite, helpful, suggestive and so I opted to continue credit monitoring once the 2 free months ran out. Recently, I received a mail that their mail was being returned and to call and update my address. I struggled with the questions, but influenced them to just update my current address and advised them I wasn't requesting any information at all. The lady tells me they never got a payment method, but continued my service for March, April, May, June and July... wanting payment for 5 months and to update a payment source. Okay... that's fine. Out of 3 dozen letters or so, not one pertained to owing money or having a debt.

That's not even the issue, though. I call today with a simple question, "Is this account holder services number that has been calling me legitimate or know scammers?" After 20 seconds of silence, this lady, barely speaking English, tells me I have to answer questions before I can have a credit score or report. I tell her, "Okay, but I don't need any of that. Go ahead with the questions." After 30 more seconds of silence she asks, "What is a previous address" and "Who is a previous employer?" This is after I confirm my member ID, SS#, date of birth, email address, phone number and current place of residence. I'm 34. I've lived a few places. No lie, I ran through every single address since I was 11 years old. I gave the names to every place of previous employment. 60 seconds of silence, then, "What was a previous address?" "Tell me where you're currently employed."

Politely, I mentioned that I've been self employed for years, but have tax records and tax ID number. I just have no business name. I don't run a business. I flip houses. She tells me, "I can't give you a credit score or credit report without previous address." Again, "Ma'am, I do not want those. I know my score. I get letters from you every time there's a credit report change. I don't need a report, or any account related information at all." So after another very long and awkward pause, I mention a date I had just submitted a payment for the last 5 months, and the exact dollar amount. I answer all questions about this payment, what bank it was from, the card type... everything. SHE ASKS ME FOR MY CARD NUMBER.

I tell her I don't feel comfortable giving that to her considering that odds are I will never, in my life, gain access to the account first off... and secondly that it's a strange thing to ask someone to give when "security" seems to be impenetrable selling point in the first place. I ask her, "Theoretically, and nothing to do with my account, say I am calling because I'm interested in knowing the benefit from this extra credit monitoring." She tells me, "A free annual credit report and credit score." "Well obviously I'm notified of changes as well. Also quite obvious, my credit report would contain my credit score, would it not? Something everyone is entitled to a free copy of not only yearly, but also each time an inquiry is done. At this point, I am only interested in discontinuing this service and preventing any more monthly charges from occurring."

Her response after a minute goes by and I check to confirm she's still actually on the line? You guessed it. "Without the correct answers to the questions, I cannot discuss your account with you or make any changes." So long story short... not only am I paying for an essentially free service that I have absolutely no access to, I am stuck paying 10 bucks a month to TransUnion and, if I were to stop payments through my financial institution, they would continue to provide this completely useless service and proceed to accumulate a debt for who knows how long? I feel scammed by the very people I turned to with the sole purpose of preventing others from scamming me. Not only that, but apparently by default you agree to marketing and having information solicited unless you uncheck a box on a website that you can't get access to anyways. It's crooked, scandalous and seems to have become the standard practice these days.

Last month, I received an email notification from my credit monitoring app (which is not TransUnion) that there was a big change to my credit score. When I logged in, I discovered my Transunion credit score had dropped 57 points in one day. My payment history was at 100% for the previous 18 months (which was is far back as the system monitors) and there were no derogatory remarks. My Equifax and Experian credit scores had remained the same, only my TransUnion scored had taken this drastic and unexpected dive.

I called TransUnion to try and get to the bottom of the issue, and after an hour and a half of struggling to understand the representatives with whom I was speaking, it was revealed that my TransUnion credit had dropped due to an old light bill that I had paid off in 2011. The account had been paid off and closed for SIX YEARS and Transunion just now decided to drop my credit score almost 60 pts- essentially dropping my credit score a second time in a form of double jeopardy- because of a $300.00 light bill that had long since been resolved?? I had asked the representatives why was my score being negatively impacted again if my score had already suffered from the initial time of delinquency and had since been resolved? They responded that TransUnion has the right to report this information for 7 years.

So basically, it appears that TransUnion noticed my consistency in repairing and maintaining my credit score over the past several years and decided to dredge up an old piece of negative information just to sock it to me one last time before it expires in a few months. That's the only explanation. This old, closed account is on the brink of extinction from my credit report and TransUnion dug it up in order to drop my score 57 pts in one day. TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY, I declined TransUnion's credit monitoring service - which the representatives kept trying to push on me. I explicitly stated I would never purchase any service from Transunion after this experience, and TransUnion would never receive a dime from me. Well... I checked my online bank statement today and there it was... a $19.95 recurring charge from TransUnion for a credit monitoring service...

I called them up and was more than livid. I demanded my money back; which they promised to refund in 5-7 business days. But here's the weird and unsettling part: I never gave Transunion my card information for them to charge me in the first place AND the card they used was a newly issued card that I just received a little over a week ago, several weeks AFTER I had called them. How did they get access to my new card info without my permission??? I'm seriously thinking of getting a lawyer to help me investigate this further. There's definitely something seriously wrong with TransUnion's practices.

I am stuck not being able to do anything with TransUnion. I have now spoken to four agents about my identity's theft, two of whom I could hardly understand even when I asked them to speak slowly and clearly. Each asked me a series of security questions to confirm my identity. Each got to the fourth question, which I could not answer "correctly." None of the answers had anything to do with me; rather, it appeared to be based on information related to the identity thief... Stymied, I was then read the same script by each of them, telling me to obtain my TransUnion credit report and then call back. I said, "It's in my hand and I still have no idea about this question! It's about the criminal's activity!" Each of them then read me the exact same speech again and would not help me any further...

For some reason the first agent had put an Armed Services freeze on further credit activity. It's an extended freeze available to military personnel only. I am not in the military, never have been. The other agents would not change that freeze unless I answered the mystery question correctly. I insisted again it was "none of the above." They remained immovable -- "Obtain your credit report." Good grief... So I altered course and tried to use their online dispute module. It wouldn't allow me to enter any more info than name and address, saying I had already begun the dispute by a different method. Yep, via phone, which of course was blocking me... It is truly nightmarish trying to work with TransUnion. It's so bad it seems as if they're staging a parody of the worst kind of customer service hell. Oh, by the way, I don't feel at all comfortable telling a subcontractor employee in a third world country my social security number, but they give you no choice.

Nothing is more frustrating than having absolutely nothing you called about being taken care of. They can't tell you it's against the law or other companies wouldn't do it. The fact that TransUnion and Equifax for that matter are allowed to remain in business is criminal. Last year I applied for a credit card and was denied based on TransUnion's reporting of my credit. When I investigated by paying for their "service" if you can call it that. There were several inaccuracies that I had to deal with. Fast forward to 2 days ago when I am making preparations to attempt to get the same credit card so I can switch banks. Equifax reports me as being in the excellent range where TransUnion has me in fair bordering on poor.

Again I find inaccuracies in my account. Not only that but my credit score dropped 12 points since last year. There is no reason for that as I have not taken on any new debt, don't have any debt, sorted out the inaccuracies they caused, closed a line of credit, and continued to use my credit card like normal for just about everything. Also both company's customer services representatives are rude, barely speak English, have no ability to explain or do anything and are obviously far away as the connection is very poor.

I hope this company stops auto-signing people up to their services because I never wanted their services for anything but free, which is why I went on to AnnualCreditReport.com to get my FREE credit reports. They assured me this would not continue and the charges would be reversed. That did not happen, I then called Capital One whom was the credit card that was being charged, Capital One was very professional and assisted me on getting reimbursed from the fraud charges.

It is now 2017 and I'm STILL being charged via TransUnion monthly for a subscription that even their own records indicate I've cancelled. Capital One has had an ongoing investigation as to these charges and we have now blocked the company from being able to further charge my card. I find out something is going on and called TransUnion. They tell me about the 90-day alert on my file and the online profile created using my ID. I tell them this is fraudulent and they tell me they'll place a "freeze" on my account using a 6-digit PIN to unlock. Supposedly, only I can make changes to my account or unfreeze, but ONLY if I have the PIN number.

I called back one week later and find out that "someone" called the day after I put the freeze into effect, and the freeze was lifted. I asked "How was this done without the super secret PIN?" The fraudster told them they didn't have the PIN (the one that was placed the day before) and the TransUnion India staff proceeded to ask them identity questions. That's all they had to do was answer the questions. Easy to do when you have already had access to the online profile with contains all your personal data. Oh, yeah, and the fraudster also requested a free credit report be sent to them at their address in ANOTHER STATE, which TransUnion happily complied with. I was confused so I called TransUnion and the lady that I was speaking to on the phone just kept rambling in circles because she did not know the answer. She kept trying to explain that all agencies use a different vantage system to score the credit score which does not make sense because your score should be similar to each other across all three credit reporting agencies.

When I explain to her that that is confusing and does not make any sense all she did was sound like a broken record and could not answer my questions and cats rambling in circles. When I ask if I can speak to somebody else she could not answer that simple question and put me on the phone with somebody they can answer my questions and that is the reason I am totally unsatisfied. A lot of people complain that TransUnion steals from you but it very clearly says you must cancel with 7 day or you will be charged the monthly subscription. I've signed up for it 3 different times and never had an issue. Moving on, I decided to keep the subscription and 6 months later I immediately got an email for TransUnion noticing me of a new inquiry... I froze access to my report from the website right away and contacted the person who pulled it. It turns out it was Kia financial for someone who applied for a car 1000 miles away. The only reason they didn't get the car is because the awesome person who pulled the report suspected fraud because all the addresses in my history were from California and when he asked the couple "where have you lived" they obviously didn't say California and they were denied. Thanks to TransUnion I found out with 1 hour of applying and was able to freeze it so that those people couldn't go to the next dealer.

I've been using it for 2 years now and love it. I recommend it to anyone. The only thing that I really want people to know out there is that you can get it for cheaper. After having it for 6 months I tried cancelling because 18 dollars a month is not much but it counts for something and the rep on the phone offered me a lifetime price of 9.95 be if I kept it... Shady scheme but I guess you can't blame them with rivals like credit karma... so I stayed. The other times I subscribed I cancelled after a month so I think that's why they didn't offer me a lower price. Just something to think about. I hope this helps.

So my wife calls and they said you have to call another #. I know that's lie because my mom cancelled her account with same phone number. I can't believe a credit place doing this.

It's based on NAME match. Are you kidding me? This was told to me by a SmartMove representative on the phone. I evicted someone and almost didn't rent to two different individuals because of the inaccurate info. I just got off the phone with a Superior Court in CA regarding a list of EIGHT felonies associated with my applicant to find out that NONE of them were associated with the social security of the individual. I paid off all of my student loans debt with CIBC a year ago and have letters of release to prove that. TransUnion Canada falsely reports that I still have outstanding CIBC student loan debt. This false report was on my statement for months providing wrong information to creditors. A month ago I submitted a dispute form indicating I have "no knowledge" of that account and providing letters from CIBC that clearly state my student loans are settled in full. Today I paid $21.95 to see update on my account and that false debt from CIBC student loan is still showing on my credit report. If I can be the victim of false information being placed by TransUnion Canada on my credit report so potentially can others as well.

Furthermore, two weeks ago I called TransUnion Canada dispute center to check if they received my dispute form and supporting documentation and they said they did receive my documents. The dispute representatives have such strong foreign accents - I asked them where they are located, they said they are located in India. I find it absolutely unacceptable that somebody from foreign country has full access to my personal and confidential credit information. One thing is to get outsourced tech support but having somebody from a foreign country snoop around in my personal credit information that's just plain wrong. TransUnion Canada is incompetent and unprofessional. They put false information on people's report and our credit suffers because they are either too lazy or too incompetent to fix their mistakes. I agree with other commenters that TransUnion is a scam and must be closed down!

I am applying for a security clearance and have to be able to correctly report any accounts that maybe outstanding or any credit issues. I went to annualcreditreport.com to get my 3 credit bureau reports and was able to get Equifax and Experian however TransUnion says I already received my free report and refused to provide it. Even though I know I did not receive it ever I needed to get the information urgently so I click on a link on their site and agree to pay the $1.00 to receive my report as well as enroll in their credit monitoring service. Three days now have passed and the report is not available due to a technical issue and you are unable to log into your account to cancel the product, and must call them to cancel.

I am unable to just cancel apparently. After calling twice and being transferred each time, I have to listen to why I should stay for 10 minutes and then get "disconnected" when I ask to cancel anyways. Guess the phone lines overseas get cut off when you ask to have your account cancelled. I will be trying back again once I have gathered by composure to try and cancel again.

I cannot believe that this type of practice is allowed by the FTC, and this service is used by institutions such as Barclays and Apple for credit services. This type of predatory practice is criminal at worst and acting in Bad Faith as best. I would hope that none of you fall for this scam and will read the other one thousand + bad reviews on this organized crime ring called a credit bureau. I will read reviews from this day forward, but I thought I was safe with "reputable" company like TU. I will make sure that I do not do business with any company that will do business with this organization. If they care about their customers they will not use such a disreputable company.

They never send you an email confirmation that you are signed up with them so you have no real receipt or anything you can use to fight what they have done to you. Guess I will just have to wait until they bill my CC, and use that as my receipt if my 3rd attempt to cancel my account fails. I will be also filing a complaint with my State Attorney and the FTC for this type of criminal practice. Oh and I know they have already sold my email because I never receive junk mail, but now I am receiving junk mail every hour from a different company telling me my CC's have been cancelled due to fraudulent activities, and then trying to get me to sign up for more credit monitoring from other companies.

This product is really bad and I am shocked this is allowed to happen and is apparently endorsed by States that use TU to rate insurance and companies such as Apple/Barclays to grant credit for their products online or in stores. I cannot stress this enough. DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT! I wish I could provide a receipt to be able to be a verified buyer, but since they do not send any email confirmation I am unable.

I said, "show me the contract where I had signed up for this"? Of course they could not produce a signed contract. I pulled another credit report on 7/19/2016 and found that they did an account inquiry three times. Upon my findings, I contacted TransUnion Interactive, Inc. and the customer service agent asked me for my social security number. I responded and stated that asking for my social security number is against the law. I had also stated that they are not allowed to conduct an account inquiry without my written expressed consent.

Once again, I proceeded to ask the customer service agent to send me a contract where I had signed up for this credit monitoring service. I then proceeded to advise the customer service agent that there was no signed contract and that in order to provide service one must have written consent from the individual. - Period. Having worked in the mortgage industry when a company does an inquiry, it actually lowers your credit score. I don't care what people say about this. You have been lied to and deceived.

This is against the following: The Privacy Act of 1974, HIPAA Privacy Act, Social Security Act, subsection, 208, (8) which states anyone who discloses, uses, or compels the disclosure of the social security number of any person is in violation of the laws of the United States shall be guilty of a felony and upon conviction thereof shall be fined under Title 18, United States Code, or imprisoned for not more than five years or both, The Right to Financial Privacy Act of 1978, Title 18, United States Code, subsection, 1681, section 701 pursuant to (d) and (6) regarding (3).

This review is to warn other consumers to be wary of the shady practices carried out by this business. TransUnion offers an online credit report service. However, they do not make it clear that this is a subscription based service. When signing up for the service they ask for a lot of personal information (naturally enough) - Social security, name, address, DOB, credit card details, etc. They then say that have to charge a fee of $1 to verify your credit card information/identity. What they do not make clear is that this automatically enrolls the consumer in a monthly bill cycle of $19.95 for the membership. This information only shows up in the email receipt for the $1 charge, it is not advertised anywhere on their website (www.transunion.com) or along the enrollment process as far as I can tell.

Trying to cancel this membership results in a whole host of other problems. The cancellation option is buried deep within their FAQ section and the link to cancel seems to always be suspiciously "Broken" which means the consumer has to call their service line and speak to the representative. In my case, this was an awful experience. The representative almost refused my request to terminate the membership and anytime I tried to press them I got misdirected with other statements about the "Great service" that TransUnion offers. In the end I had to get nasty and demand the cancellation and threaten them with a report to the BBB. I got my service cancelled but no refund for the hidden subscription charge was forthcoming.

I would highly advise using an alternative company for your credit report needs. To caveat, this is not an attack on TransUnion's actual credit monitoring service, I'm sure that is fine. But the lack of transparency, hidden charges, blatant misdirection of customer complaints and awful customer service make this company seem very shady in my eyes. It is called ChoicePoint Assist Property Insurance companies to raise rates; allegedly to increase the rates depending on their ratings.

As for instance, if you have multiple department store accounts, your rate will be poor and your insurance raised. If you have multiple cards your rate is poor with them and their Fair Isaac analysis found you area risk. Also if you have a gas card your rate is better (so who uses a gas card these days?). They calculated the more department store cards you have, this determines that you are not a safe driver; this is so obscured.

They took money out of my account without me realizing they were going to charge me, then it was nearly impossible to figure out how to cancel it. I had to do some research via Google! So ridiculous.

TransUnion has taken more than 8 months to report a $35,000 debt that I had paid off, and it is still not reported as paid. This has hurt my credit score. Tried calling and got a person who didn't speak English and I felt didn't understand me, and of course was no help. I am printing out the form and mailing that in. Good thing too because I found so many mistakes on their report. Businesses should stop using TransUnion as a source for information regarding people's credit history. They are too careless and weak. They don't have the technology to keep up with consumers information changes. Equifax has done the job pretty good for a lot longer. Time to give the BIG BOOT to TransUnion.

I was a victim of identity theft. The IRS had this company listed as one to contact for a credit report. I should have known anything the IRS recommended would be bad. I was suppose to be charged for a one-time use... NOT. My credit card has been billed every month since December. My credit card company would not credit my account because TransUnion showed I was using the services. This is such a scam. DO NOT EVER USE THIS COMPANY FOR CREDIT REPORTS!! I had to cancel my credit card and get a new one to stop them from charging me every month.

Ridiculous runaround trying to get a credit freeze removed. First, they say my address doesn't match the one I have on file. Hello! Not my fault! I don't report to you jerks! I send a crap load of documents with proof of address, and they send a generic letter back saying my documentation is insufficient. I try to reach somebody on the phone, and that is not even an option. So, I'm stuck not being able to my credit report, not able to lift a security freeze and not able to reach a person to tell me why I cannot do any of the above. THIS IS THE REASON CREDIT BUREAUS SHOULD BECOME PART OF THE PAST!

Most disgraceful customer experience I've ever been involved with. Indian-based call could not help me satisfy a viable dispute w/ my credit report. They did not inform me that I could create a dispute online which would allow me to auto-upload supporting documents and was then given a fax number which is the ONLY single fax number for the entire organization and received a busy signal for two hours. Sitting at Staples for 2 hours because, again, I was forced to FAX in the information! AVOID THIS SERVICE IF YOU CAN!!!

Save yourself a major headache and do not use this company for your credit reports. Called before trial period ended. Was still charged $19.95. And this was going to be PER MONTH. Called back. Was required to answer a bunch of questions, even my father's name and who he was to me. What does he have to do with anything? He wasn't one of my secret questions. All this time this girl kept interrupting me to say she couldn't understand ME. She was foreign! Last time I checked we spoke English here. I ended up hanging up and called my bank to block any recurring charges from them. Again, DO NOT USE!

I just checked on my credit on CreditKarma.com and noticed I had a poor score with both Equifax and TransUnion due to some collections on my account. I took care of them and both companies changed my report pretty quickly, however, TransUnion still kept my score poor where Equifax gave me a "fair" score. To me this makes a HUGE difference. I am -2 on the TransUnion side for getting to the next level. When I called I got a call center based in India and could not understand a word the woman was saying. Of course when you ask to have someone speak better english they keep repeating themselves because this will only make them look bad if they have to transfer to a supervisor.

I did read somewhere that TU uses a different scale when giving scores and it is done automatically. Why do they use a different scale? Shouldn't all three top bureaus use the same? Unfortunately a lot of corporations use TU to check credit scores because they are cheaper than the others! They suck and I wish anyone reading this will decide not to use them as a company for credit checks because they are a cheap crappy company.

I have twice mailed TransUnion letters via certified mail return receipts asking for an original signed contract with my signature verifying items on my report are being reported correctly. They have yet to verify and have not sent any proof. However, these accounts remain on my credit reports. Also listed on my reports is me being a victim of identity theft. If nothing is verifiable it has to be removed. After a third attempt and no response I will be seeking legal action. I am a litigious consumer and know my rights.

Transunion. I have never been so disgusted with a company as I am today. I thought TransUnion would be a place I could trust, but here I find you not only charged me $29+ - plus $1 for? AND today you have taken another $19+ from my account. I may be a disabled veteran but nowhere was it made clear to me how much the expense would be to have YOU help me update my credit information!! What a rip off you are TransUnion! Your version of "helping" me is sucking my money out every week. You have definitely helped me see how a credit reporting agency can even take advantage. So much for a "free trial" time. NOT HAPPY AT ALL.
