I am obtaining a mortgage for a house. Of course the lender wants obtain my credit scores and history. I was told that Transunion showed a credit lock on my information. I had personally unlocked the account for this purpose, but the lender still could not obtain information from TransUnion. Experian and Equifax data came through instantly. To summarize, over the past 72 hrs I have been passed around to various Transunion departments who assure me that my info is not locked in any way, and to have the lender try again. The latest insult was to have the lender, a Transunion rep, and me on a three way call while the lender tried to obtain the info. No luck. All Transunion said "have the lender try again". O.M.G.

At this point I am frustrated with TU. I check my credit report and reporting is all inaccurate and outdated. I have 2 credit cards open. One which has not been updated since Feb. and another not reported at all so it is hurting my credit. I also have medical collections that are showing up "OPEN" when it is closed and also they have re-added an account that was disputed, investigated, and removed. They also make it hard for me to dispute anything because it will only allow me to view my credit report after I call in. If I do not call in I'm unable to view or dispute anything on my credit report. Somehow when I call and get bounced around from person to person they state "there are no issues and I should be able to pull my report".

I initially applied for an account in order to check my credit prior to applying for an apartment. I signed up for the week trial, which then would automatically enroll me into a reoccurring payment scheme for $17.95 every month. The first time I checked it, I noticed a smudge on my report detailing an emergency bill that had actually been covered by the Hospital. With that in mind I kept the subscription in order to combat it later on (I was approved for the apartment, so it quickly fell off my priority list).

Fast forward to today, I attempted to log into my account and failed every time. I also tried to use the reset feature, which kept me on the same page every time. I finally called customer service only to find out my subscription was canceled awhile back, and I had been paying $17.95 every month for the past 3 months, for no reason. The operator saw the problem, I'm assuming spoke with management, and issued a refund for every month.

So, all in all they made things right and laid the blame on it being a technical problem. Still, they have the smudge reported on my account, which has drastically decreased my score and in order for me to combat it, I'll have to create a new account linking to a new credit card. All that coupled with the terribly buggy website and horror stories from other customers makes me not want to deal with them again.

The website is unclear, so deceptive. I have no idea the report requires extra fee with $29.95, otherwise I won't even consider putting my credit card info. They asked for that info and then a record has been pulled out and I have no way to cancel!!! Such deceptive. Also, later I learnt that the monthly fee will be $19.95!! If you don't cancel, you will charged by every month. Such a cheating website and service!

Like most of the cases here, I just wanted to check my credit score but did not want to have a monthly service. Also like most, I didn't know I would be charged 20 dollars after the trial. To be fair, it's one of those things that's right there but I guess most people (including me) don't see. I wish they would make the text explaining terms more prominent (not that it's hidden). Having said all this, as soon as I was notified (by my bank) that I was charged, I researched TransUnion and saw all these bad reviews, and how they don't do refunds. I called TransUnion and was pleasantly surprised when the customer service agents explained to me that they were going to issue me a refund and completely cancel my service (I only removed the auto renewal online apparently).

I too was on TransUnion site for a credit report and was charged the $19.95. I read the other stories today and then checked my credit card company's website to review recent activity and found that TransUnion had charged me this month as well. I have THE REMEDY. Each of you, and I will be too, needs to contact your state's Attorney General's office and file a complaint against TransUnion. Also, contact your state's Senator and Representative in Congress as well as your state government's officials and let them know of your experience and others on Consumer Affairs.

When companies engage in deceptive practices, you need to take action to protect yourself and all of us. Another thing, they cannot automatically charge your bank card or credit card without your authorization and full knowledge that it will be a RECURRING AUTOMATIC DEBIT FROM YOUR ACCOUNT. I also recommend getting a copy each year of the Consumer Action Handbook from the government's site - - here is the link: https://www.usa.gov/handbook. Together we can go up against all these con artists; remember to put in the effort to make things right for all of us!! Good Luck!!

Unfortunately scrolled off the bottom of the page is some fine print that says that they will charge you every month if you don't cancel. You don't accept any monthly charge or anything. When I called they refused to refund my money. Use one of the other two credit reporting agencies, TransUnion is deceptive at best!

I tried disputing information on my credit report. It stated I had to log in but when I tried it said I already had an account set up. So I called customer service to see if they could tell me my login information. Finding somebody to speak American English is the worst, most impossible task with this company. After attempting to explain the situation, no one could understand anything that I was asking. So I called back several times only to get the same exact results. The last woman I spoke to kept giving me the same runaround and refused to answer my questions. So the following month I checked my credit score and they dropped it 20 points with no negative information reported, all of my payments are on time, and I know it was done out of a fraudulent and deceitful act on their behalf because of the communication barrier. This company should not be allowed to determine any credit reporting for any person.

I have memberships with the other two main agencies as well and compare the 3 individually every 3 months. I always have to file disputes with TransUnion to get things updated and even then the online disputes are hard to track.

It is a lien that DOES NOT pertain to me. I've sent them proof of my residence, w2, marriage cert along with other paperwork and they won't remove from my file. It is clear I did not live where it states lien is, yet they won't remove. I even told them that law states that they must prove it is mine, yet they ignore my request for proof. They will be unable to prove that it is mine because it does not pertain to me. I will have to contact lawyer to clarify this. I will have them pay for any and all legal fees incurred.

I think it's funny that an agency that's suppose to protect your credit can charge your card without your knowledge. I called the same day when I saw a pending charge on my credit card. The women told me I absolutely was not charged. When the charge appeared on my card, I called them again only to be told they had no record of my first call. How the would someone cancel a free day trial? This is clearly a scam. As many have stated, thought I was paying $1 for my credit report and placing a fraud alert on my account as my identity had been stolen, and then see I'm charged $19.95. I called TransUnion, where the lady tries to give me some BS about how I didn't call within seven days. I told her I didn't need to hear the BS that they tell people, that it's clearly a scam because I didn't see anything about signing up and a seven day trial. She said because I didn't call, they couldn't refund my money since they went ahead and checked with the other bureaus to see if there was any fraudulent activity. She also said she would be glad to walk me through the process where it says what I'm signing up for.

I am a college educated person and can follow directions, I sure as hell wouldn't have used them if I saw something about a trial membership. All I wanted was to make sure I had a fraud alert on my account. Turns out TransUnion is just as bad as the person who used my information to apply for a credit card. I just wonder how many thousands of dollars they make a month off of people who know nothing about this so called trial that clearly isn't mentioned when you sign up.

I called twice that same day to make sure there wasn't a membership/subscription. They said they couldn't find my account. The third person I spoke with was a "manager," and they assured me that any membership would be cancelled. About a week later, I see that $19.95 was billed to my account.

I have twice called and they said they were experiencing technical difficulties yet the second person was able to find my information. They wouldn't give me a mailing address nor would they give me a last name or even the initial for the last name for the representatives with whom I was speaking. I had the same experience as most other people who have written here. Through misleading information I was lead to believe I was paying a one time fee of $1 for a credit check, but was automatically signed up for a $17.95 monthly service. I decided that this wasn't acceptable, so I called to demand a refund. I spent the next 45 minutes on the phone. I flatly refused to hang up the phone until I was given a full refund, two payments of $17.95. I was eventually able to get a refund for one of the payments, but I said this was unacceptable.

After asking to be transferred to a manager, I got the same speech, saying it was against their policy to issue a refund. I asked if there was someone higher than him I could speak to, and was told that the account manager was unavailable. I said that I would wait until he was available. Finally I was hung up on, and I promptly called back, went through the same process again and finally was told that, though the manager was unavailable they could give him my number and he would reach out to me.

Shockingly, a few hours later I received a call from this manager. I went through exactly the same process. Through faultless reasoning and belligerence (it is logically possible for someone in your company to override the policy and issue a refund yes or no?) I got the person to admit that it was indeed possible for someone, somewhere to issue a refund if they wanted to. I asked to speak to that person, and was put on hold. After about five minutes the same guy picked up the phone and told me I would be issued a full refund. Although I was told I would be receiving an email confirming my cancellation and refund which I have not, so we'll see.

I found a few issues on my credit report that I had questions about and tried to do the online dispute/contact form. It requested a log in and I tried to log in multiple times, to no avail. I did the "forgot password," received a confirmation of the changed password, and tried to log in again - and nothing. I found the Customer Support page where you could print the form and mail it - the page had an error message instead of the form. Nothing. I called the phone number and while it was answered quickly, it sounded like 100 people in a very small room. The operator was very polite, but clearly had no clue what he was doing and was just reading screen prompts. Ten minutes later, I had to hang up. This has to be the worst customer service I have EVER received!

TransUnion lured me in with the one-time $1 fee to see my credit score. What they did not state at the time in any clear or accessible way, is that around 1 week(+) later you will be automatically billed $17.95 as a monthly fee which there was no warning for via email or otherwise (by logging into their site) to tell you that they are charging you. I finally found out 3 months later due to a late fee I incurred in my bank account because they billed when my account balance was low (an additional $40 late fee for a service I didn't even know I was paying for!).

I go to cancel the account (that I had without my knowledge) at their website, and that feature was not readily available. I had to google search my way out of this thing and found out that you have to go through their FAQ section of the page. What adds further insult to injury is that you have to search through several different screens before you can actually submit your notification to cancel. This is a service that is supposed to help you out of debt and instead I was taken advantage of through false advertising, hidden coercion, and horrible customer service. Little did I notice that I was being billed $17.95 a month.

By the time I noticed around December, I called, but was kept on hold. By January after the holidays when I was finally able to the bottom of things, they would not budge saying I have been so lucky to be protected by their "insurance" and "monitoring" service. They do not send you any regular mail or email telling you they are charging; and there is no information on your "dashboard" after logging in at their website telling you you've been charged. In fact, the only way I knew was when I check my credit card statement. AT the website, there is no clear way to cancel the service, and searching the site does no good. I tried to purchase their online product of MY personal credit status, and again was met with a message "unable to verify identity". I called the number given to me and I received zero regard for the trouble, I answered all the very personal questions to numerous representatives in different departments I was continually transferred to.

TransUnion is not processing the removal of collection/recalled accounts accordingly and in a timely manner. I had a company called Debt Collection Partners RECALL a collection account from all 3 credit bureaus. Equifax and Experian processed the request sent on December 10th. Around December 11-15, after numerous calls to Debt Collection Partners to inquire on the updates, they stated to send it to TransUnion and they assured me they would send another update on December 23rd, 2015. Again, they sent TransUnion another update and TransUnion again has not updated their records and it's been more than 3 weeks now.

I've had to call TransUnion numerous times and explain. Each time, I unknowingly get transferred to a call center in India where they never advise me that I'm talking to someone from overseas and providing all my social security and personal information. The representatives then advised me to file a dispute on that collection record. I faxed copies twice of the documents to remove the item from Debt Collection Partners based on guidance from TransUnion customer service. I called again and they state the documents are not accepted and these are the documents sent from Debt Collection Partners. TransUnion is telling me the dispute will take 30 days to resolve until January 28th, even though the creditor recalled the collection account.

On a separate collection account that was also recalled. National Credit Systems sent electronic documents to cancel a collection account from all 3 credit bureaus. They provided me with a letter stating they are recalling and canceling that account for a collection of $215 that was erroneously reported. I paid my mortgage broker for a Rapid Rescore service that takes the supporting documents to recall the collection accounts and sends them directly to all 3 credit bureaus to process a removal. Once again, Equifax and Experian removed the account within 5 days, TransUnion on the other hand has not processed the request as of December 29, 2015.

By TransUnion not processing these requests, they are hampering my mortgage loan closing, credit scores, insurance quotes and I will have to pay a larger amount in closing costs and fees on my mortgage. It is not fair, that TransUnion is holding me hostage and not fairly reporting my credit report. They are refusing to do anything about it.

On December 30, 2015, I spoke to a TransUnion rep and it turns out that because there is an open dispute on the account, UPDATES from other creditors do not post to the account, until that individual dispute has been closed. This is absurd!!! It's a flaw in their system but apparently it's part of their business process. That's why the update to remove the $31.65 account sent back in December 10 and again on December 23 never posted to the account. They will NOT process any updates. Even though 2 updates that were sent were to remove the same collection account under dispute.

Again, the other update from National Credit Systems to remove the $215 never posted either because TransUnion blocks any updates until the other dispute has been resolved. Even though, the UPDATE will remove the disputed account. This is totally backwards!!! I feel like there needs to be a class action suit against TransUnion for their business practices. I even filed a BBB complaint against them.

With great difficulty, I found on some forums. Unfortunately the prepaid card does not have monthly statements so I never really reviewed what was being charged every month. Not a big deal since I purposely maintained only a small credit balance and used it only for things like Netflix.

Yesterday I discovered that there were two $16.95 charges on my card. Today I log into my TransUnion account (I barely knew I had an account, and had to do the whole 'reset password' thing) and to my SHOCK discovered that they have been charging me $16.95/mo for the past 15 months. So I ask my wife to do the same, and indeed she was also being charged $16.95/mo for the last 15 months (same card). I called them to ask about this and the person on the phone audibly started laughing when I got to the part about being totally unaware of any monthly subscription. She offered to refund me the last two months, but I insisted that wasn't good enough so she transferred me.

Much run-around later I got no further. I told the person I want to dispute further and asked what my next steps should be and she replied I should take it up with my credit card company, basically telling me to go away. $16.95 a month... and for what? I used the AnnualCreditReport.com site to pull up my free record of TransUnion and noticed several errors. It was my first time using the service and didn't know that once I moved on to the next report, I couldn't get back in to TransUnion to jot down all the items I needed to fix. So I called TransUnion to fix these over the phone.

The representative could not understand me. After spending 10 minutes trying to fix just ONE entry, he was so frustrated that he told me that he would just mail me a new report (5-7 business days). I did not want a new report sent to me, I wanted this one fixed. (To be clear, I don't have any kind of speech impediment and I hear just fine. On the other hand, he had a very thick accent and was difficult to understand as well as struggled to understand me.) Back when he thought I was calling to get back onto the webpage he mentioned an online department. So after we weren't getting anywhere, I asked for the online department (to try the dispute page again), but he insisted that there wasn't a dispute webpage and I just had to wait for the mail. Then he hung up.

I had to research if there was a regular access URL for TransUnion for disputes. Then I noticed that my old report from last year had the web address I wanted. I was able to start a dispute, but my session kept timing out before I could finish. (It shouldn't have timed out, as I never left the page for very long.) Finally the site told me I had used up all my tries. Then I got a screen that said my request to dispute was submitted and on the same page said that my request failed (File Number **). So I called TransUnion again.

This time was worse. The first representative had me repeating words several times and spelling things over and over for maybe 15 minutes. We worked on the same entry as above and then tried one more but was getting nowhere. I finally just politely asked for someone who speaks better English. (I never do that. I am usually very patient and considerate. That is how bad this was.) I waited several minutes while he transferred me to his supervisor - who did not speak English any better, but was a little less frustrated with the language barrier. I, however, became exceedingly frustrated as I had to spend over 30 minutes spelling words over and over (words that are common in American English) and only worked on 3 entries (including the same two entries as earlier) without success.

As we approached 40 minutes and she still couldn't read back the changes accurately, I finally asked this supervisor if there was not someone else with better English skills that I could speak to. That is when she told me that she could transfer me to the United States. I agreed to the transfer. Then she got mad and told me that she would undo every change made today to fix my record and I would have to start all over! Although that was terribly rude and uncalled for, I agreed to the transfer (since it didn't sound like she had made correct fixes anyway). Silence. 30 seconds later I was disconnected. I have sent an email to customer service (not sure if it's a good email address), and am awaiting a reply.

So I asked the gentleman if he could explain to me why his agent was telling me that I could not obtain my credit report without paying. He calmly apologized to me and said he would follow up on that. Fair enough, he later transferred me to an automated phone system, which proceeded in asking me to tap in all kinds of security questions. I swear I had to answer 12 security questions before they would give me any information. Actually they refused to give me any information at all, saying I had to pay.

I also pointed out to the supervisor that the agent could barely speak English. When he was asking me to choose one of the cities I had previously lived in, he could barely pronounce them and I had no idea what he was saying. So, what gets me is this: Why do they ask you 12 security questions, then refuse to give you any information? Trying to force you to pay for something that already belongs to you, after all it's your information. This entity is deceitful and downright evil. They torture people as a consequence of their sloppy work. The errors they make cause many people a lot of grief. What they do should be illegal, it is certainly inhuman.

It connected me with TransUnion who promptly charged me $1.00 (that I did click on) and $29.95 (that I did not click on). I immediately called TransUnion customer service. I said this was an error. I had not used their service and I wanted it cancelled. They cancelled the account but said the charge would not be reversed. I contacted my credit card company to dispute it and they noted my complaint, suggesting I call back in a few days. Going on line, I see that this is not an infrequent complaint. How then is this fraud allowed to continue?

When reviewing the visa statement, we were charged $17.95 by TransUnion. We checked the previous statements, and sure enough every month for more than a year this was charged. Unlike other people who signed up for the $1 credit report, we have not. However, when security breach by Target, etc., affected our old credit card, we were offered "free" credit monitor by a company (which I do not remember) contracted by Target. Come to think of it now, was it an impostor? Not sure. Anyway, called TransUnion customer service and found out some unknown guy named ** something signed up. We have no knowledge about this person, so we closed/cancelled our account, requested for refund. We also called our credit card company to do fraud investigation and go after TransUnion for refund. Not sure how long it would take. They also cancelled our current credit card and will reissue a new one.

I don't remember seeing any fine print about starting a membership after a 7 day trial. Yet when you go to their website it does state they will charge you if you don't cancel within 7 days. Of course this is small print and at the bottom of the screen. Something you could easily miss if your browser cuts it off. They need to state these charges when you agree to the $1 fee. They ask for your money for the $1 fee, but don't state they will charge your card after 7 days. They also don't state it's $17.95 per month! Not a 1 time fee. So BEWARE! Don't use TransUnion. When I called to ask, I kept getting the runaround. Had to call multiple times and talk with 4 different people. Every time they would ask me to give them the same information even though I has a case file number that has the info on it. I did not see any type of agreement that stated my credit card would be billed every month unless I canceled. I paid consideration of $1.00 and tried the service but decided it was not for me. I never logged onto the site again and I never received an email from them ever about the service during the time they were charging me. The only time I ever heard from them ever was when they notified me that my card turned them down.

They acknowledge that I never logged on throughout this time I had a "membership." The kicker is that I used a credit card I never use and all this time they were charging me. I never looked at the correspondence because I never used the card. Finally they suspended the card for lack of payment. Only then did I realize they had been charging my card for last six months.

This letter is my formal complaint, and ask you to investigate the business practices of TransUnion. According to the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. 1681 they are required by federal law to verify - through the physical verification of the original signed consumer contract - any and all accounts they post on a credit report to assure maximum accuracy. Without proper verification by their company, anyone paying for reporting services could fax, mail or email in a fraudulent account.

They have no verifiable proof (an original consumer contract with my signature on it) to verify that the account belonged to me the first time they reported the account on my credit report. Their failure to properly verify these accounts has hurt my ability to obtain credit. Under the FCRA 15 U.S.C. 1681, unverified accounts must be promptly deleted. I'm asking them to provide me with a copy of an updated and corrected credit report showing these items removed.

Now - it is important to note that I CODE MERCHANT ACCOUNTS for My Clients and deal with VISA.NET as well as other Merchant Account Companies. As part of creating any RECURRING Credit Transaction.

1 - The Client need to be notified via Email or other method a few days prior to the Recurring Transaction with a link to Stop the Charge.
2 - The Client on the Order page needs to check - I Agree with the Recurring Charges. Directly associated with the Recurring Charges.

3 - The Recurring Charge is actually part of the Online Receipt and not a SIDE NOTE. With a statement of the Date as to when the next transaction will occur and not "after 7 days" or such.

The Merchant accounts are set up this way to prevent Charge Reversals. A company that gets too many Charge Reversals gets bumped to a higher processing rate and in some cases can be 100% stopped from further transaction. I told TransUnion - they were a Credit Protection Agency and they were taking advantage of that and abusing their position. I told them about the Rules that I have to follow to establish Recurring Transactions and told them I never received any follow up notice, no receipt indicating that I would be charged a recurring fee. They asked me if I had my pin available, which I did, before discontinuing the phone call. I then immediately called 888-909-8872. I listened to my options and decided that unfreezing my credit report on May 13, 2015 and reestablishing the freeze on June 1, 2015 was the best option offered by TransUnion. I gave TransUnion my pin and paid TransUnion's fee of $10. I have confirmed the payment was received by TransUnion on May 13, 2015.

As of May 16, 2015 my credit report is still frozen. I have been in daily contact with a company trying to run a credit check on me through TransUnion. That company keeps getting a referred message from TransUnion. I called TransUnion customer service every time the company received the referred message and the first thing customer service says is that my credit report is frozen. I tell customer service I unfroze it on May 13, 2015. I tell customer service, that I gave Security Freeze my pin, $10 and in turned received a confirmation statement that it's unfrozen. Customer service then changes their statement that it is unfrozen. The last time I called TransUnion customer service on May 16, 2015.

In addition to getting the frozen then unfrozen statement, customer service also said the company doesn't know how to read an unfrozen credit report. This doesn't make any sense because the company checking my credit keeps getting a referred message from TransUnion.

My SSN was part of the Blue Cross Blue Shield breach, so I wanted to see which companies could provide me with a credit monitoring service. I looked at the TransUnion website and it advertised free credit reporting and free credit monitoring. I signed up and during the verification process, it asked for a major credit ("any major credit card") to verify my identity. I thought this would be okay because TransUnion is a credit monitoring company.

After putting in my information, I saw on the website and got a confirmation email stating that they charged me $1. I thought that was odd because they didn't tell me that they were going to charge me and they advertised that services were free; but I thought it was similar to how gas stations put a $1 on your card to make sure it's an actual active card.

But then I saw a $17.95 charge on my credit card account some days later. I went to my profile on TransUnion and found the charge, and it listed the charge as "auto-transition." That wasn't much of an explanation; and before signing up and after giving my information to TransUnion, I had scoured their website to make sure I didn't sign up for anything that would cost me money or that would charge me later. I remember looking everywhere on my account to make sure.

When I called TransUnion to ask about the charge, a woman told me that I signed up for a free trial that if I didn't cancel within 7 days would charge me this amount. I told her that the website asked for my credit card information under the pretenses of verification, and verification only, not for a free trial. She told me to go to the website, and I could see the trial information. I said I was signed into my profile and to please direct me to where this information was listed. She said it wouldn't be on my profile page but only on the main website. I asked her, "If I signed up for something, shouldn't it be listed on my account?" She continued to give me the same answers, so I asked for her manager.

With zero interest, he repeated the same lines, "You signed up for a free trial," "We don't offer refunds," "The $17.95 is non-refundable," and "Look at the main website to see the trial details." I told him how dishonest and sneaky this seemed to be: only asking for credit card information to verify my identity and then not listing a purchase I supposedly made on my profile account. He told me that they sent me a confirmation email. So I looked that up and read it to him. The email didn't say anything about signing up for a trial. He then repeated to look at the main website.

Luckily, I was only charged once; and I canceled my service with the first representative. Neither representative seemed to care what happened. For me, this is another sign that TransUnion is actually trying to get you to sign up for something you don't know you're signing up for. If they weren't doing this, their representatives would be trained to care if a mistake happened on their end. But it seems to not be a mistake.

This was the letter I sent to TransUnion on 3/20/15 and used to file a formal complaint with the CFPB: I am in the process of obtaining a refi loan on my personal residence. In that regard, the lending institution provided me with a copy of my TransUnion credit score and report, dated 1/24/15. My TransUnion credit score is 809 based on a scale of 309-839 (ref. attached copy. The report also listed Insufficient length of credit history under the label Key factors that adversely affected (my) credit score.

TransUnion has tracked my credit history since 1974, so that entry seemed strange. As such, I called TransUnion sometime during the last week of January. When I explained to TransUnion's rep that I had a copy of my TransUnion score and credit report that was provided to me by the lending institution, he insisted that it could not be a TransUnion score because TransUnion, he said, uses a scoring scale of 500 to 900", not 309-839 which is what I told him was shown on my copy of the report. I explained again that I was looking at information provided to the lender by TransUnion.

Undeterred, he repeatedly argued that the scoring range was 500 to 900" and that I did not have the correct TransUnion score. There was never 15 seconds that eclipsed before he interjected our conversation with a sales pitch to buy a legitimate copy of that score. He never stopped trying to sell me. He insisted that I did not have the correct information and that the only way I could obtain that was to buy it from him. He could have cared less about my questions... he was solely focused on selling me a credit score. He was infuriating. I never got to inquire about the wrong name or the Key factors. He was so arrogant and unhelpful that I finally screamed and hung up.

What started off as a simple inquiry with a TransUnion rep, has become not only an irritant for me, but has, seemingly, had quite an adverse impact on my score. I have attached copies of my January and February Discover card statements. Discover Financial Services provides FICO scoring as a standing feature of their credit cards, based exclusively on information provided only by TransUnion. My January Discover card statement, which covers the period of 1/11/15-2/10/15 shows a FICO score of 827. During this period, there was a single inquiry, dated 1/24/15, originated by the lending institution that is processing my refi. That inquiry, it stands to reason, is thus reflected in the 827 score. My February Discover card statement shows a FICO score of 777, a 50 point drop in a single month. Once again, this scoring is based solely on information provided by TransUnion.

Setting aside the 809 score that was reported by the lending institution, which may have been characterized using parameters unique to their lending protocols, we can compare the month-to-month Discover card scores, which are treated the same. I am requesting that TransUnion explain how a score could have dropped so precipitously from 827 on 1/24/15 to 777 on 3/4/15, a period of less than six weeks, during which there were no intervening inquiries, late payments, or other score-affecting dynamics.

These are highly suspect circumstances. I expect that TransUnion will determine if the rep I spoke with was in any way responsible for the precipitous drop in my credit score. TransUnion has an obligation to ensure that consumer credit data is both correct and evaluated consistent with company policy and relevant regulatory guidelines. If it is determined that a resentful TransUnion employee was in any way complicit... something that, in and of itself would constitute a profound breach of security requiring immediate corrective measures... then, I expect that employee shall be terminated forthwith. If, however, there are other mitigating circumstances that can explain the change in my credit score, I would greatly appreciate that explanation.

May 5, 2015 update and result of my complaint: TransUnion did not respond to my complaint, choosing instead to send the CFPB a generic boilerplate explanation of how/why different financial institutions used their credit ratings. Nothing was mentioned with respect to my particular charges about their employee and the possible degradation of my credit scoring by that employee. Today, I received from TransUnion a new credit report (I did not ask for it) which lowered my credit score even further... significantly further. This report shows not a SINGLE LATE PAYMENT throughout my credit history, which dates back to 1974. Additionally, there are no other intervening entries on my report that are out of the ordinary. It is becoming increasingly apparent that TransUnion management has willfully and deliberately chosen to adversely impact my credit scoring as retribution for the complaint I submitted.

If there is an attorney out there who is willing to take this case on, I will be filing for a new business loan within the next few months, at which time, I may be able to demonstrate a six-figure civil injury. I can be reached at the email address I used when I created an account at the Consumer Affairs website.

I called immediately but because it is the 8th day they billed my account and will not refund me my money. The first day of a 30 day billing and you won't even give me back some of the money? RIPOFF!!! Wow I know you're a credit agency but wow is this how you make your money!!! You should be ashamed to be making your money this way. I then was charged 2 more times at $17.95/month before I noticed the charge. Transunion cancelled the subscription when I called them but I had to press them to refund to me 1 month of the $17.95 charge. They would not refund the other 2 charges of $17.95. I have the same complaint everyone else has. I signed up to get my once a year credit report, and somehow that lead to Transunion signing me up for their $17.95 a month membership. When I learned they were taking money directly from my bank account without my authorization I gave them a call. The customer representative told me that it was made clear to me several times that this would be happening.

When I disputed it and asked where are my email, or mail notifications of all the attempts to make me aware of the membership he changed the story and said it is on the website in fine print. Then he changed his story again and said it isn't in fine print on the website, it is made very apparent that that will happen. He said if you go through annualcreditreport.com it wouldn't have happened. (which is where I went) I told him I would be bringing all these unauthorized transaction up with my lawyer, then agreed to refund me on just the latest transaction. I will not be able to get the previous months money back at all. Since they are government affiliated there isn't anything I can do about it. Do not go with Transunion!!

I called to get my personal information changed as most of it was wrong or very outdated. They didn't even have my name spelled correctly. The person who answered the phone and was trying to help. I could not understand anything he was saying. He was obviously spoke in very very poor English. When I asked to speak to his supervisor he asked why do you not understand me. That was a loaded question I refused to answer and again ask to speak to a supervisor.

It was the same situation with the supervisor but I could understand her for the most part. She spoke so fast asking me questions that were all over my report which is very lengthy. She wasn't real patient in waiting for me to find the info she wanted. In the end I Think we finally got it straightened out but only time will tell. But doing so was like pulling teeth.

One, if there is as much outdated information and just flat out wrong information (like my name) we are in trouble since they are the main credit reporters many merchants, landlords, insurance companies etc. go to. They had my employer, as I did work for, in 1992 and went bankrupt in early 93. They showed they verified this info on 09/11/ 2014. I worked long term for 2 different companies beginning in 93 until 2005. Two, if they are there to help you they need people answering the phone you can clearly converse with. By the time I got off the phone with them I had to have a shot of Jack to calm my nerves. :)

Whether I will be charged for this consumer abuse, as obviously many have, I will have to wait and see. At no point did they say there would be a charge. Besides the obvious misinformation on my report it really irked me that I couldn't speak with someone that was understandable. On something as important as what they do there is no excuse for that.

I signed up for monthly credit monitoring as I was trying to rebuild my credit. When I was working with a mortgage broker we discovered that there was a big difference between my Equifax score and my Trans Union score. He said he had never seen that much of a difference before and that I should contact Trans Union to ask. After many phone calls a return call was made to me. The woman who returned my call was pleasant but could not answer my question, said scores come from logarithms. That does not help me at all. And if the computer is making the decision what my score is someone has to enter the information in the computer that gives it the parameters.

I had to go that day when I was talking to her as I had a meeting. My phone broke shortly after that so I could not call her back. Then I called in to cancel my credit monitoring as it was doing nothing for me. About a month later I went to go in to pay for one credit report with my credit card and I was denied. I called in and was told very rudely that I no longer have privileges for online services with Trans Union and was not given a reason why. The person was so rude that I just hung up. Now when I apply for credit I go to companies that use Equifax for their reports.

I have no idea who Trans Union is or how to contact them. I audited my monthly Visa statement and found a recurring charge for $17.95 per month and I've never ordered anything from Trans Union. Who are they and what service do they offer? Update: After several hours of navigating through phone menus and talking to 3 different reps. Here is the scam:

Mistake #1 They promise you a current credit report for $1. If you are dumb enough (like me) to enter your credit card info they automatically sign you up for a "free" 7-day service to "monitor your credit". Mistake #2 You have to contact them before the end of the 7 days to cancel or this fabulous service turns into a monthly subscription for $17.95 per month.

Mistake #3 Not watching my Visa statements close enough. I noticed this $17.95 and figured it must be an alias for a restaurant or a credit card clearing service for taxis, or something similar. It wasn't until I put all my transaction into Excel and noticed every month for 13 months these scammers have been charging me to "monitor my credit". $233.35 is what they took me for.

Trans Union refuses to give me a refund even though they admit that I never accessed my personal credit monitor that they set up for me. How could I use it if I never knew it existed? They told me a supervisor will call me back in one or two days. I'm going back on the road tomorrow so that does me no good. More to come...

Apparently I subscribed to a monthly credit protection service costing $16.95 per month. I remember doing no such thing. In fact, it is so unlike me, I know that I didn't, not intentionally. The only thing I know is that I did want a credit report at one time. I have been charged for 7 months, yes, my bookkeeping is that lax. When I discovered it and tried to cancel, they want all kinds of personal information, which I don't want to provide to an agency that has been charging my account without my express permission and knowledge. They insist I created an account, I insist I didn't. And they can't "prove it to me" because they "can't send emails."

I know it's their website, I believe it is misleading, possibly purposefully so, because who is really concerned whether someone else is checking their credit report? If you fill out their webform and check a box, they've got you, no "Next," no "I confirm," no "You will be charged on a monthly basis." I've been unfortunate enough to have been conned and everyone has been stolen from, and nobody had the good sense to check my credit rating beforehand. Cons and thieves don't really care. Interestingly, despite my paid subscription, I never got notification from Trans Union when my credit card had been compromised. So now I understand why Trans Union does business in this tricky and underhanded manner (in my opinion) - probably nobody wants their service.

This company lacks transparency when it comes to purchasing their services. It is not made clear on their site that you are purchasing a credit report and THEN they start to automatically charge you monthly ($16.95) for the continued use of their site. It really surprised me when I learned that I was being charged again. I did not receive a receipt, but when I went onto their site (thinking oh, I thought that I was being charged for a one-time service, maybe I have it for a year at $16.95) I realized that I was being charged monthly.

I called Customer Service who would not refund me for the automatic renewal, despite it never being clear I would be charged in the first place. Customer service told me there was no avenue for me to provide feedback (I at least didn't want this to happen to anyone). Customer service informed me that I was alone in my situation (implying that it was solely my mistake). After hanging up I thought I need to verify if other people have this problem. I felt the need to warn others from using their services. Evidently I was not alone in my complaint.

I received a 4 digit cancellation number. They would not cancel my order right away, but in a month's time I would receive notification of cancellation. I said, "I will not be charged again before it is cancelled, will I?" And he assured me that no I would not. My trust level for this company that seems like all they care about is to take your money is quite low and I am curious to see if indeed they will attempt to charge me again. Please do not use this service.

This is a brief description of my experience with Trans Union. I filed a more detailed review with the Better Business Bureau (Chicago). I requested a $1.00 credit report from TransUnion on February 26, 2015. On March 22nd, I discovered TransUnion had deducted $17.95 from my account on March 13. When I called their customer service, I was informed that I had enrolled in a monthly credit monitoring service. The 1.00 was a trial offer which, if I did not cancel within the 7 days, would be a monthly subscription to their credit monitoring service @ 17.95. I informed the Customer Service rep ** that I was unaware of this, she pointed out where it was on their website.

I informed her that it was in a spot where people could easily miss seeing/reading it. I told her I did not want the service and to cancel it and I wanted a refund of my 17.95. She told me they could not refund the 17.95 and they would cancel my enrollment/subscription on April 12th. I told her that if I waited until April 12th that would give them the opportunity to take another 17.95 from me. Therefore, I wanted the cancellation to be effective immediately. She stated that she cancelled my enrollment that day (March 22nd) and my confirmation email would be sent by email within 24 hours.

To date, I have not received the email confirmation and, in fact, my account does not show that the cancellation was ever processed therefore, there's a risk that they will take another 17.95 from me next month. There are other details to this situation and my conversations with ** and another Representative ** which have been included in my review to the BBB. But the important facts are in this review. I don't understand how a so-called major credit reporting agency can be allowed to continue subjecting consumers to deceptive advertising practices and delay tactics and useless customer service.

You are WAY better off paying for a single full credit report and skipping the completely shameless online service experience that is tantamount to a street performer tricking you out of dough. 2 stars because I did get my credit rating. I was trying to freeze my credit online. The answers to the security questions were mostly "none of the above" or had misspellings so the answers to choose from were inaccurate. I answered a question incorrectly (the name of my street was misspelled in their choice) so had to call customer service per their pop up window to place a credit freeze. I was told I should buy a credit report from them so I would have known they misspelled the name of my street. Seriously? Of course they ask you for your social security number and credit card number immediately.

I explained that I wanted to complete the process online but was told it's impossible to go back once their system locks you out. Never mind that it's their own fault. So I had to place a security freeze online. All six people I spoke to over the phone had THICK Indian accents so were difficult to understand. I went back online to make sure the freeze was in place and couldn't even verify THAT because I'm still locked out. I called back to verify and tell them again that I want to be able to use the website and I'm told that once you place a freeze over the phone you can only unfreeze it over the phone.

Now I'm stuck calling Trans Union for anything I want to do. The website is VERY difficult to use compared to Experian or Equifax. The only thing Trans Union wants is to sell people credit reports and scam them into buying more. That this company is even allowed to treat customers so rudely and provide such poor customer service and stay in business is ridiculous. I will never order anything from them again. I will only deal with the other 2 reputable companies.

Trans Union led me to believe that my charge would be $1 and then deceive me by elaborately concealing that there will in fact be a $17.95 monthly charge. This fraudulent practice must stop. The Customer Service representative that I spoke with apparently did not understand the word "no" or the phrase "I am not interested in your 'service'." Both said repeatedly.

Like most people, we are held hostage by these three credit reporting agencies that serve no one except their own best interests with their impossible algorithms. I sold my home - and wondered why on earth my credit score dipped substantially - it doesn't make sense. Like others here - I paid $1... that's all it said... $1. It didn't say $1 and later on $17.95 a month. I filled out the pages long form - and assumed there would be a page denoting the small print of fees but there was none. A reasonable person would then assume, it's like what I was led to believe... $1 and goodbye. When I clicked to go to the last page, it simply said thanks and gave me a limited report that offered nothing more than what Discover card gives me for free each month.

I then get charged $17.95 a month later. I try to log on - click on 'forgot password' so I can attempt to cancel whatever it is I purportedly purchased - and the link is dead. Customer Service of absolutely no help. I told them I didn't want their 'service.' What's the point of it?! What service? Credit monitoring? Come on. I look at all these complaints. Everyone has been tricked by the same trick - small/hidden print, lousy customer service - and they continue to operate unabated.

Is there going to be something done about this, or is this just going to be a sounding board for people to whine on. FIX THE PROBLEM. And while you're at it, since I am held hostage to Trans Union and their ability to take my personal financial information and supply it to others based on rubbish - how about creating something where people can actually see how this algorithm works, instead of just saying it's 'complicated.' I pay all my bills on time, have one credit card that I use with a high balance - and you would think I've been running a racket my whole life. This is ridiculous.

Received my "fun money" account statement and realized TU had been charging $17.95/mo. ($53.85)! (Yes, my fault for not catching sooner, but since I didn't know about the service and never used it, how would I know?) Called TU. When first customer service rep refused to assist, I asked to speak to her supervisor. She "placed me on hold" which was a disconnect. I called back and second customer service rep finally agreed to refund one $17.95 charge. Not good enough. I asked to speak to her supervisor and got him. He finally agreed to refund the second of the three charges when I threatened to report them to my state's Attorney General's office. It's an outrage that a credit reporting agency can get by with these types of tactics when they are one of three of the only games in town. I will still report them. How is Trans Union recommended by the US government and utilized as one of the THREE major credit reporting agencies?? It is apparent that this company conducts poor business practices, uses deceptive techniques, and provides pitiable customer service. As many others, I was unknowingly duped into the recurring monthly charges when I obtained my "Free" $1.00 credit report. This occurred while I was in a military transition assistance program (TAP) course. During the finance presentation, the instructor recommended we review our credit report regularly. The course allowed us access to Wi-Fi to view job announcements, etc. So I googled "credit report" and went with Trans Union as they are recommended as one of three major national credit bureaus by USA.gov (official government website). It was a one-time access to which I received an email with a receipt and order confirmation/account access. There is absolutely nothing in the email that indicates a monthly recurring charge nor is there any contact info in case I knew of the charge and wanted to opt out.

After noticing the charge on my Discover card, I promptly disputed and Discover recommended I call Trans Union at 800-493-3292 to have them remove the charge. Discover stated that if I had a problem getting a refund, to call back and open a dispute. Upon calling TU, they stated that I had to of known because it was on their website and I signed up for it. My internet access at the class was limited so I did not see the disclaimer. Fast forward today, going to TU's website from my PC, I now see a disclaimer in light gray print at the bottom which is easily overlooked. It is obvious that TU purposely does this so the consumer will not notice. Even though the gray print states you can cancel anytime, they do not put a phone number or contact info to cancel. Furthermore, there is no contact info in the email receipt they sent me. They make it difficult at best to cancel.

The customer service rep at TU stated they would cancel but would not refund. That was unacceptable for me so I challenged her that their service was unsatisfactory and that I wanted a full refund for a product that I did not use (returned merchandise unopened will get you a refund at any reputable business). I also stated that their business practices are misleading and deceptive to which she argued with me about it being very clear on the website. I countered that if they were on the up-and-up, they would put it in the email with a means to contact them. She continued to force her view that they disclosed all information (even though it was in the form of a Where's Waldo challenge). Her argumentative nature and seemingly unwillingness to assist reinforced that TU's customer service is reverse of any reputable org- "we are right and you are wrong so deal with it." She finally stated that they would refund and that if I tried to access Trans Union in the future, I would have to pay the 17.95.

No worries, I will NEVER go through TU again. Furthermore, I am filing a complaint with the BBB and will contact my Congressman’s office. If Trans Union was genuine in their business practices and desired to provide an honest service, they would fully disclose the charges in the email receipt as well as reveal a notice on their website that is not camouflaged at the bottom (I don’t even recall the disclaimer so it may not have existed).

I looked at their website and clicked a button on top of which it says "Get your credit report and score". Well, this reads "one time" to anyone who reads it. Following that there is a sign-up process, and on the first page of that sign-up they put a little banner that actually looks like ad saying that you are signing up for a monthly service. 95% of people signing up wouldn't pay attention to it as it looks exactly like ads that other sites put on the sides...

3 months past that, I look at my statement and see a charge of the $16.95 from them. They have been billing me for 3 months for something I did not even see I sign up for. I called their support and talked to a rep. I had to have a lengthy conversation and requested 3 or 4 times to refund my money back and cancel my subscription (she was initially saying they have no ability to do refunds). After all, she finally agreed and told me that she will do the refund, yet I am not sure if that is actually true. Ohhh, Trans Union, where do I begin? Had my wallet and info stolen recently. Luckily, to my knowledge, nothing serious has happened, no thanks to Trans Union. A PayPal credit card inquiry showed up on my report - called the credit card company to try to deactivate the application and fix the inquiry (btw, same thing happened with Bank of America and they resolved my problem in under 3 minutes) and discovered that PayPal's entire customer service is outsourced to India and they could not understand what I wanted and did not help me. So I called Trans Union. THEIR customer service is also outsourced to India and multiple reps told me that I could not dispute an inquiry, only an open account, despite information on their website clearly stating that I can dispute inquiries if I choose to do so. So basically they stuck me with watching my account and HOPEFULLY catching an open account before the person has an opportunity to use it. Not that safe, if you ask me.

Anyways, that was last month. Today I get a fraud alert, which is fine, except I notice one of my listed contact numbers in the alert is incorrect by one digit. So I called customer service, and the lady gives me a number for the fraud dept and says they have to change it. So I called that number. After a series of automated dialing to prove my identity, one of the options to press is, "If you would like to place a fraud alert, or *if you already have one*, press 1". So I did. Next, I get a computerized pitch to buy one of their programs with a 30 day trial. I click 2 for 'no' and the recording goes "Are you sure?" and then gives me AN EVEN LONGER PITCH on the SAME product!!! I was grinding my teeth in frustration listening to this agonizingly long sales pitch just so I could get to a representative.

FINALLY it asks again "Are you sure? Press 1 to take up this amazing offer, press 2 to decline", so I press 2. Then, the automated lady tells me "Your fraud alert has been placed. Goodbye!" and hangs up on me. Words cannot describe my rage. Why is such a simple problem impossible to solve? Why are companies that handle something as serious as credit allowed to outsource or automate customers to "support" that can't understand us? This should be illegal!!

I signed up for the $1 deal for 7 days a few days ago and decided that I didn't want to keep my subscription them. The first time I called the representative pretended not to hear me. The second representative asked for my social. After I gave it to her she go the last 2 digits wrong so when I say the correct last 2 digits she repeats the wrong social again. I again say the last 2 digits again and she acts like she doesn't understand what I was saying. After telling her that the last 2 digits were not the ones she was saying but different ones she hangs up on me. The third rep that I talk to was rude as well. I asked to speak to a supervisor who from the sound of it didn't know what he was even doing. I will never get my credit report or score from them ever again.

On 7/21/14, my wallet was stolen. I immediately canceled all debit, payment cards, and credit cards, requesting replacements. I entered fraud alerts on all 3 credit reporting agencies. No fraudulent charges were incurred. No late payments or derogatory remarks have ever been reported to my credit. However, TransUnion slashed my credit score as reported by Credit Karma from 766 to 740, possibly based on charge card companies reducing my credit limits when replacement cards were issued. Credit limits are a non-issue for me since there has never even been a monthly balance on any credit card or vendor charge card. All cards are paid in full each month. I believe the basis used for calculating credit scores is bogus game playing.

I have subscribed to TransUnion Credit Monitoring Services for 7 years, paying $14.95 per month. I faithfully update my reports and credit scores often and frequently get 3 bureau reports from TransUnion. I work hard to try to keep my credit in good standing and as of today my TransUnion credit score is 827. I was feeling pretty good about that score and went to purchase a new car tonight. The car dealer informed me that my TransUnion credit score was 672 and because of my score I would have to put $3,000 down to buy a car. When I told the car dealer that my TransUnion score was 827, he laughed in my face and told me that their info is useless. I even showed him my score on my phone and he shook his head. I called TransUnion in God knows where and talked to a representative who eventually transferred me to a supervisor. "Louis" was extremely rude and kept talking over me. I told him that I felt like the service is useless and he told me he would gladly discontinue my service and refund one month's service. When I requested to speak to someone with more authority, he told me that wasn't going to happen. I then told him I would write to the Better Business Bureau and he hung up on me.

I purchased from TransUnion reporting agency access to my credit reports from all three agencies - TransUnion, Equifax and Experian. There was a "so-called special" that would allow you to access your score and credit report for seven days for $1.00. After I ordered that, I realized that I needed all three reports so I paid an additional $29.95 for access to all three for thirty days. Since TransUnion could not charge my card for $17.95 for the credit monitoring, they stripped my access to view my report online for the 30 days in which I had already paid $29.95 for. Stating that one was dependent on the other one. That since I am not participating in the $17.95 a month that I can't access my reports although the ad said 30 days I could access them for $29.95.

The ad never mentioned that If I cancel the 7-day free trial that I could not access my reports for 30 days. I asked her to tell me where it was mentioned that one was dependent of the other and she could not and did not show me where this was mentioned. They were rude, Josh and Liane and another gentleman, about refunding me and told me I wouldn't be getting a refund just paper copies of my report in the mail. I could have gotten those for free if that's what I wanted. I have been cheated out of my money and scammed.

There are numerous reports online of people being scammed and cheated over these deceptive, misleading and fraudulent advertising practices by TransUnion! I paid for the reports on July 22, 2014 when I was charged and I spoke with TransUnion today, July 28, 2014, and they were unwilling to help me, and thought it was humorous that I was so upset about their scam. I need for Corporate or whatever location, handles these issues to be contacted. Also these businesses make it very hard to figure out who or where to file the complaint. Several people have had the same experience. We have to expose TransUnion. They are taking our money and not giving us what we pay for and getting away with it! This is really bad. Zero Stars!

I am furious with these companies that use deceptive practices to con people into giving their personal information so they can rip them off. If this happens to you, contact the Federal Trade Commission and file a formal complaint. This is the ONLY way this stuff is going to stop! I see that many others have had the same experience as me: while taking advantage of the free credit report review that the U.S. requires credit companies to provide, I clicked on an offer by TransUnion to receive my "credit score" for $1. Then, I received a report that did not even provide a real credit score (but some other number that supposedly correlates to one's credit score) AND was charged $17.95 without my knowledge, which showed up on my next credit card bill (in addition to the $1). I called the credit card company and they said I could dispute the charge after I tried to resolve the charge with the company. I called the TransUnion number on my credit card bill and after hitting "0" to get out of the menu a person answered promptly. He was real pleasant and thanked me for my subscription. I explained that this was not an authorized charge and he said that it was. I asked for a refund and he said no. I told him that I was going to dispute the charge through the credit card company and he said, "Go ahead." I told him that I wanted whatever services TU signed me up for to be cancelled and he gave me a cancellation number. How this large corporation gets away with such a con is beyond me.

I pulled my credit report few years back and seen there were some inaccurate information on my report from a collections account. I filed a dispute on these items. Some got removed but majority came back as verified. I asked for proof, of course that information cannot be disclosed. More recently I have filed for these same items to be removed on a particular day. I called about two weeks later to check the status on the dispute and was told I would have to speak to a fraud rep which I agreed with. The rep didn't even transfer me I had to get the number from her and call them directly. Once I called the number the new representative told me the dispute should be finalized almost two months from when the investigation was started.

Of course I'm drawing a blank because I know under the Fair Credit Act they only have 30 days to prove that the debt is mine. So of course I mention this and the new rep informs me since I added additional information from the previous representative then the clock starts all over. So I laugh and say I didn't add any additional information. I simply asked the previous rep a question and that rep told me I would have to contact the Fraud Dept. Now this Rep is insisting that I indeed added additional information. So I asked the rep to tell me what was added which should be easy if I added the information. Of course after the rep cannot find this information he tells me that this information cannot be disclosed. Even if I was the one that supposedly gave it to you?

I get a supervisor on the phone. I answer the large amount of verifying questions they ask and then I ask my question. My first question, the supervisor says "I cannot disclose this information". I find that funny after you have made me answer a slue of personal information. Me and the supervisor talk for a bit and he's stating the same thing. Stating that I added additional information that's why it's being pushed back a little further. Once again I ask, "What additional information did I add?" He looks but he tells me he sees information about a document sent in but cannot see or find the additional information proving my point that no additional information was found. He then tells me it's nothing he can do. He cannot go back in the system and change the date. He says he understands what happens but he can't change it. He also tells me that the rep actually canceled out my claim and started a new claim the day I called to check on my initial claim and then states that only I in writing can cancel a claim. So how did the previous representative cancel my claim? Since he says it's nothing that can be done I must carry the burden of the mistake of a TransUnion employee? That's not fair, I have nothing to do with the employees they hire.

(Side Note) Keep in mind I do have documentation that the items in dispute were disputed in error from the creditor. I went to the creditor myself and taken care of the matter. TransUnion did not know I had this document and me asking what is a fax number where I can contact TransUnion was how they were saying I added additional information even tho the information wasn't added. By the way, I asked for this same fax number when I reopened the investigation. So from Day one I asked for this fax number, me asking for it again two weeks later was additional information? Sounds like they're doing whatever they can to buy the creditor more time.

After talks with more and more reps/supervisors, they all insisted that I send in whatever documentation I have for these accounts which I a letter from the creditor stating the account numbers were filed in error and do not wish to pursue these debts any longer blah blah blah. So now TransUnion finally gets the documentation faxed. By the way faxing information to TransUnion literally takes days. They have one fax machine and it's always busy. TransUnion is a big company but only give out this one fax number? I believe they are making it completely a hassle to send supporting documentation for claims.

Once again I believe they are more for the Creditor then the Consumer. I was told send the document in and I will have a outcome 5 business days later. I send the document in and wait the 5 days. Once they received the document I sent days later, they now tell me that this letter from the actual creditor which has the creditor contact information cannot be used to make a decision because the accounts being disputed are in collections. Something TransUnion knew before having me send the document in. Basically I have been getting the finger from TransUnion. I also asked the creditor to remove the items and they stated they already put the request for the items to be deleted twice now.

I know about Credit agencies using e-Oscar "Computers only talking to Computers basically" to handle all of their disputes but I faxed over documentation from the creditor themselves stating the items being disputed was in error. The new claim hasn't been denied yet and it shouldn't. I just can't get over the fact they gave the creditor more time and told me "There's nothing they can do about it" & made me send in documentation that they knew they weren't going to use. By the way, when I asked for the fax number again from the supervisor this time no additional information was added on my claim. Same question but different outcome. I believe TransUnion and possibly any other Credit agency holds only the best interest for the Creditor not the Consumer.

I tried calling Trans Union after a few year to see if they would remove my info from her file. They refuse to look at her file. I return mail to sender marked deceased. I even give them county and phone number to verify she is deceased. Soon I started getting calls and mail from yet a new collection agency. What a scam! This company boasts a 'free credit report and $1 credit score' and the 'fine' print which is cleverly hidden on the website states that after the trial period of 7 days, which is also not clearly laid out, you will be charged $17.99. Well my husband and I foolishly didn't read hard enough. All we saw was that there were two options. One was to sign up for the monthly 17.99 credit monitoring or just do a one time free report which is what we both did. Today we were slammed with two 17.99 charges. There were no warnings, no emails. I checked the only two emails sent to me - one with the $1 charge and one welcoming me to Transunion.

Furious I had my husband call to dispute the charges. He was met with rudeness and no help. They said he should have read the fine print and that the charges were legitimate. This was unacceptable to me. I called and after being told by customer service that I would not be refunded several times and asked if I had my computer in front of me to look at - very rudely - I asked for billing. He said, "We are billing." I yelled I needed to speak to someone else. He wasn't budging so I yelled, "Do you have a supervisor? A manager?" And after screaming this several times I was transferred to a more polite supervisor. I explained more calmly the situation. He said, "Let me see what I can do for you. I will refund you just this time."

I told my husband to do the same since I can't call in on his behalf. He had no luck and the supervisor he spoke with was a rude woman who said would have her manager call him in a couple days. I know that is a lie so I will have him call relentlessly until the refund is made. 18 dollars won't break the bank but the principle of the matter is at stake. This company is a huge scam and is full of rude telephone operators with zero people skills. I implore anyone with this issue to do the same. You will have to yell and scream and be rude as they are but it will work because eventually reading off of note cards and stress cards will wear thin.

Then they procure your credit card info to pay a nominal administrative fee. 7 days following the receipt of my credit report they charge my card for another $17.95 because it was just a sneaky 7 day trial membership that will convert to a monthly credit monitoring. I use LifeLock and would never need or accept a membership like this so when I saw the pending charge and called them before the charge ever went through and they explained that I should have been more observant. The representative said that I was on the wrong site for my free credit report from Transunion. They clearly know that they deceive and are even given talk tracks to differ the truth and maybe their guilt. I ask the person how they feel about working for this type of organization. They clearly knew they are stealing people's money... legally I guess. Hopefully enough people will share their experience and maybe the attorney general will see that over 70% of the monthly fees are cancelled in the first month or two because they were deceived from the start.

Charged for the seven day free trial. Called on day I was charged to cancel. Said I was beyond the seven days. This is all subjective and depends on what day you count from. Do I count the first day? Do I count the last day? I was charged today; therefore, I believed it to be the end of the free trial, seven days, and wanted to cancel. Complete and utterly useless call personnel state multiple different ways to calculate your seven day free trial, "Oh wait but then we give you 24 hours additional, but wait, not in this instance." Huh? If I want it longer then I get an extra 24 hours? Very odd. Nowhere is a date given to you of an expiration date of your free trial. You're free to try to figure that out on your own. Call center 'manager' gave the instance of what other bill do I not have to pay by the due date.

Excuse me, where was this expiration/due date given? This was the date I believed I needed to cancel the membership to not be billed, but I was wrong and if you have the power to charge me without my express consent then you can and will not get a refund. Their service is also crap. Many other credit and score monitors change nearly daily. This score hasn't changed since the first day, I do not find it credible. They also give you a score out of 990. Most other articles I read give you a score out of 900, so if you're above 850 you have very good credit. This number system does not go in line with any other available comparison so it is a COMPLETE waste. Funny how that is not told to you before you pay the $1 to find your score.
