As everybody are complaining, it happened to me too. I agree for the charge of $1 to get my credit score but being unaware, agreeing to $1 charge is agreeing to the $17.95 membership fee. I am pretty sure that no one is aware of that because they make it as a default without letting you know that you agree to what they wanted. That is not acceptable as this is going on not only to me but to everyone. Like everyone did, I called them and even spoke to supervisor but they won't be able to refund me because of that agreement they are talking about.

That agreement in their website is not acceptable. It is not clear there to be aware of the charge. If you miss reading that particular box which is automatically selected, they will get you. Beware! I didn't get my money back and so mad of what they did. I guess they really need the $17.95 that is why they cannot refund you. Oh well, they can have my $17.95 but they will have a negative feedback from me and from everyone!

The same thing happen to me. I only wanted to view my credit score. The TransUnion website showed a $1.00 offer and I looked for any additional charges, membership fees, etc... I did not want to have additional future charges or to become a member of anything. 8 days after the $1.00 charge, I noticed an additional $17.00 charge that I did not request. I called TransUnion customer service and was informed that the $1.00 charge was a part of a 7-day free membership and that if I did not cancel my membership that I would be charged an additional monthly fee.

I am very unhappy with what I view as a bad practice. I feel I was offered a very bright teaser charge of $1.00, but buried below was the very information that I wanted to be see. Maybe I would have been willing to work with TransUnion if I felt that all of my options were clearly posted, but I feel tricked. TransUnion won an additional $17.00 charge, but you lost out on the long con. That small charge is nothing compared to what the company could have obtain from my friends and family if only I felt as if honest practices were in place. This is what happen to me and my view on what took place. I hope no one feels ripped off like I do. I wish everyone the very best.

Same as everybody else - $1 turns into $17.95 due to fine print. Most companies want to remain respected; however this one will not work with you to resolve the dispute. I demanded a refund and was not heard. I will never ever ever ever ever do business with TransUnion again. This is the image they would like to have in the business world?!

I should've looked at this website before dealing with TransUnion. I must admit that much of my story is my own fault for not 'meticulously' looking over the website before submitting my order for $1 Credit Reports. I wanted to obtain credit reports for both myself and my wife, and noticed a TransUnion advertisement for $1 reports. I figured that was reasonable and began the process of signing up through their website. As I clicked through each section, I was careful to look for any extra checkboxes or forms that would sign me up for another service, as these websites usually do. Unfortunately, I completely missed the section BELOW the submit button and the small box along the margin of the page that said you would automatically be enrolled for the $17.95 Monitoring Service after 7 days. I clicked Submit.

Lo and behold, 8 days later, there are TWO $17.95 transactions on my account (one each for me and my wife). Irate, I went back to the website and found that the sneaky, conniving company placed a completely legal notice just where you wouldn't catch it. I called their customer service sternly requesting to refund my money, as I felt their company had taken advantage of me (and probably MANY other unsuspecting people). I was, of course, given the scripted answer that because the charge was a valid charge, they could not refund my money. I moved up the chain to a supervisor, and after some back and forth, I was able to get one of my transactions refunded. While still not happy, I decided it better to cut my losses and take the single refund.

I would love to find a way to get back at TransUnion, to bring their terrible business practices out in the open for everyone to see, so that not only do other people stay away from the same mistake, but ultimately that the people running this scam of a company would be brought to light and fired. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE! Get your credit report elsewhere or find a way around the Credit Monitoring. Either way, TransUnion does not deserve your business.

What Mike described below is true. 2 days ago I signed up for the $1 credit score for 7 days deal. The page clearly stated and I quote: "Your FREE TransUnion Credit Score & $1 Credit Report are available as part of a 7-day trial of our subscription-based credit monitoring service. You may cancel at any time during the trial period. At the end of your 7-day trial, you will be billed at the low cost of only $17.95 per month." So what can go wrong, right?

Well no later than 30 minutes after I signed up, I get an online banking notification on my phone from my bank that $17.95 have been charged to my account. I called the customer service which you guess it was in India and the lady gave me a runaround about how I won't get the deal because apparently I signed up with them in 2005 and cancelled. BS. I've never signed up with them for a credit monitoring service. What I did is request a free annual credit report as allowed by federal law via Annualcreditreport.com. The site would redirect you to the Transunion site where you would get access to that report.

I've never signed up for a credit monitoring service or requested my credit score with them. I've checked the legal documentation available on Transunion's website and it clearly says: "The terms of any free trial are specific only to the product subject to the free trial." Now how is annual credit report the same as credit score and credit monitoring? So seeing they weren't helping, I stopped the payment through my bank. Also to cancel, it says to call them: that's another BS. When you call to cancel, they assure you that all is good to go, your account is closed and you will receive a confirmation email shortly. Nothing. No email.

I checked the account a day later and it was still active. So via another forum thread I found where you could actually cancel online once logged in (can't seem to find that link anymore). Only then I got a ambiguous cancellation email that says "We're sorry you're canceling your subscription. Before you go, please take our survey about why you're really." What do you mean "before you go" and "You're canceling". Everything should be in the past tense since it has been cancelled or is it? So just to make sure I put a stop payment for anything that comes through TransUnion. What a pain.

Searched internet for free credit report and was directed to Trans Union. So I filled out all info and at the end was asked if I wanted to know my credit score for $1. Thought that would be great, so I filled out credit card info and printed report/score and thought that was the end. After getting my credit card statement, found the $1 charge and one for $17.95 both from Trans Union.... I called them and they told me that I signed myself into some credit monitoring membership for $17.95/mo when I wanted my credit score....

Explained to the semi-English speaking customer service rep that I didn't want that and that I never saw anything about credit monitoring/membership/trial period of 8 days/$17.95 per mo and requested cancellation and refund but was told that it was clearly spelled out and there are no refunds but they would cancel membership.... Not happy about what I was told I requested to speak to a supervisor and CSR told that she would transfer me but I would be told the same, which I was from the semi-English speaking supervisor. I am thinking they deal with this issue quite often! LESSON HERE IS YOU CAN BE SCAMMED BY EVEN A CREDIT BUREAU, IMAGINE THAT!!!

TransUnion says it will charge you $1 for a credit report. What they do not clearly tell you is that you are signing up for a 7-day free credit reporting trial period. At the end of the seven days, they automatically charge your credit card $17.95 each and every month going forward. I had to call and cancel. Of course the first bill comes on the 10th day after the free 7 days is over and they tell you that you have exceeded the free period and the bill is valid and "THAT YOU AGREED TO IT!!" People are sucked in on the $1 credit report and scammed into the $17.95 a month. I called them and they gave me the runaround about how clear it is on their website...BS. Like another reviewer mentioned. The $1 trial membership that allows you to check your credit score actually signs you up for a $17.95 a month service fee. The service fee isn't described directly below the $1 trial offer so you have to look for it on the page. It also doesn't really provide you with any helpful information even if you get roped into paying for it. I think the service is shady to begin with, and then there is no redeeming value should you get stuck with the service. I received an overdraft as a result, and because I didn't check my account for a week I now have $144.41 in overdraft fees. Transunion won't credit back my account and the customer service reps were not helpful or understanding at all.

Here is my experience: I was snail mailed a letter to update my address information, and instructed to go through their website. Well I did, received the terms and conditions that I will get charged within 7 day. I tried to cancel per support chat. They said they would email me my confirmation. I did not receive it and checking my CC statement I saw the charged.

I called back to get refunded and nothing. My advice is to call and cancel, and if they need to update any information. Call the customer service toll free line. That way your address update won’t cost you $20. I feel I was scammed, go figure. I only feel like a dummy for replying to their misguided marketing... I definitely got suckered. Also the Report was hard to print for future reference. I miss the old credit reports where they mailed them to you with all the information you needed to dispute any accounts. I always end canceling it or not going to the confirmation page which is what I did in this situation. Flash forward seven months or so and my account has become overdrawn due to this company. So I called my bank to figure out what happened and they informed me that it had been going on since May. It's November for those wondering. SO I called the main branch and after asking for my info (which I really didn't want to give) then explaining that I never confirmed to this, they informed me that it was done through a subsidiary of their company and I had to call another department (couldn't be transferred). So I call them and after asking for the same information, they state the only way to get my money back is to report fraud. Not only is this complete madness, but the associate that took my call got snippy with me. I informed him that not only would I be filing a report, I would be contacting my lawyer.

I asked for the major cross-streets because I would like to come in to get my credit report. He asked for my information and that he would mail it and I would receive it in 7 to 9 days. I said, “No thanks, I wanted to pick it up today.”

I said I wanted to speak to his supervisor, and he put me on hold. Then he came back online and said I could get it from one of their offices. He started to give a street address, and very poorly enunciated ("M as in um um um Mary, I as in India..."). And at the end he told me the address in Pennsylvania. What?

I told him I was in California. Was the internet incorrect about their address? He put me on hold again, and came back saying yes I had the correct address. I asked for the major cross-streets, and he just said I had the correct address. Ok, I said I would like to speak to his supervisor. He said didn't he give me the address? I said, “Thank you, you were very nice.” (I lied, he was not going to let me talk to anyone). He put me on hold - and he answered again. No name, as a customer service person would!

I said I want to state someone should train their clerks better, and give them a geography lesson because he wanted to send me to PA, didn't answer my simple question. He said okay. I said, "You sound just like the other clerk." He said, "What?" I repeated myself. He said, "Oh no, I am his supervisor." I said, “What was his name?” He said, "Chester." Yeah, right. Well, I contacted my friend, and he took me to the office, which was only a few blocks away. Once inside, the clerk processed my request quickly. Very little office, no doubt they discussed me.

BEWARE, TRANSUNION SMARTMOVE IS RUBBISH. Let's start here: ** 440 million mistakes, 20 million significant mistakes.

Onto the criminal background process. You now realize the credit reporting system is broken, take a look at the criminal background investigation. Let's use TransUnion dumbmove. I'm sorry, forgive me, I mean SmartMove, a so-called simple, reliable, safe, credit/background check process for landlords and tenants. The only thing anyone is getting is a relatively quick and easy non-solution.

TU will ask you (the landlord) to provide the renter's name, email and phone number. You set up your account. That will prompt an email to the renter to set up his account. You have done little more than initiate the permission (CYA) process.

You (the renter) create your account and have request of you your social security number (SS#), your date of birth and your (the tenant) name and your permission and consent to the check releasing TU of liability. Then it will run that name, with if provided, or more likely without a middle name or initial, + date of birth (DoB) but this DoB does not run your real DoB. It either runs your age or your birth year. The conclusion? A result including anyone having your name and same age or birth year as a potential "hit". What? You ask? Where's the reliability and validity in that? The answer? There is none.

What you (the landlord) are NOT told is that you have to STILL do the homework and get to the bottom of a spool of guilty party name(s) who may but are likely not your applicant, in whatever fashion you deem necessary. You could have done this with a simple internet search of name + DoB + state + arrest records. The search database that TU uses does not give you any better result as you could on your own - FOR FREE (!) and nothing a savvy landlord or assistant shouldn't be already taking the time to do anyway.

For example, name + age or birth year results in a hit of a first name, last name aged X with an arrest record in X state for grand theft auto and fraudulent check writing comes to your attention. No match against an SS#, a real DoB, a DL#. nothing. You better be damn sure this is the person who submitted before you let your potential renter know he or she has a criminal record that he or she needs to clean up or get fixed. This record doesn't even BELONG to your potential renter. And there goes your 3- or 4-figure monthly rent right out the door. And possibly, if you really pissed off and insulted your applicant, a lawsuit or lesser but still irritating, a magistrate or BBB complaint.

Remember, websites for online products are not in business to provide service. They are in business to make money. and sales and product managers will make sure they make it whatever way they can. Especially when you start looking at credit reporting bureaus, agencies whatever, even with the newly-filed complaints against the BBB ratings racket, a supposed non-profit where high level leaders are making in upwards of $250,000.

What is that saying, Caveat emptor, let the buyer beware? It doesn't only apply to you as renter proviso but a service proviso. Be sure as a TU dumbmove, sorry, SmartMove customer you know what you and your potential customer are getting for the money. Do you really need scads of (possibly inaccurate and if so, not necessarily a predictor of rent payment reliability) credit history or a auto payment or bank ledger of past paid rents.

This company is horrible. I put a freeze on my credit because someone had tried to use my identity. I wanted to stop it before they did any damage. I went to all three agencies and did everything online, then called less than a hour afterwards to make sure it was done correctly. I asked to have copies of everything sent to me. I confirmed all my information. I called Trans Union because I didn't receive my pin or any letter at all. First they said I had to wait longer. A month later I called again and they told me all my information was mailed to another address. Not the one I gave them online or the one I repeated every phone call. They won't tell me what address it was or why it was sent there but if I want the information, that they sent to wrong place, I have to mail them copies of several documents and wait for them to review it and decide if they should give me my information. Not only was the man I spoke to rude, I could hardly understand him, he would let me speak to anyone else and he threaten to hang up on me more than once.

I tried to get my credit score online so they had me give them all my information including my SIM before asking me to pay $16.5 dollars which I didn't accept. Now I am afraid they would use my information to steal my identity. I accuse Transunion.ca for any mishandling of my personal information and advise everybody to not use their "services". I don't know how credit cards such as American Express take in consideration their false credit report.

This is our credit profiles that this company is in control of! And they couldn't care less about you! We were trying for MONTHS to get our free annual report and unsuccessful. The website said error and call an 800#, so we did. They said we couldn't have one because we already got one online and pretty much too bad you should have printed it. Yet, it was never received. Finally after 8 weeks of calling, we were able to find someone to talk to that sent us the report. (Mind you, there is only one # that you can actually get a human to talk to you, albeit someone with a terribly strong Indian accent.) So, we FINALLY get the report in the mail and we try to make disputes...We are told "No, you cannot dispute that." After talking to literally 4 other people who claim to be the supervisor, I FINALLY get someone who speaks CLEARLY without a strong accent and she in fact says she will send the dispute. Now, we will see if it happens! The other two agencies, Experian and Equifax, both dispute the issue and it was removed from my reports...but this company seems to make up their own "laws" about the Fair Credit Reporting Act!

I had to call, they verified some information... then they told me I could now sign in and get my report. 19 days later they charged my credit card $16.95 and tell me that the only way I could have been charged was the fact I filled out the information online. Correct, I did fill out the information online... However, I did not get my report unless I spoke with them because they were having difficulty with the online application. That being said, I had explained to the person that verified me, I only wanted the annual FREE report. Not at anytime did this person say I was being locked into some darn Credit Monitoring Service that I did not want. Had she told me that, I would have cancelled the service. Their way of getting your $16.95 is to have you call in so they can activate and then charge you without telling you, and saying you are not due a refund..... I'm being very nice right about now.

I was a victim of identity theft, and immediately filed a police report and initiated security freezes with all 3 bureaus. In my state, crime victims are entitled to a "free" security freeze. When I filed, however, I was charged $10 by all the bureaus and told to submit my police report and documentation when I could. I mailed everything in they asked for. The other 2 bureaus were quick to refund, but nothing ever came from TransUnion. I finally called them and they said that because I didn't submit the police report at the same time as filing the freeze, they would not give me a refund.

However, the police department took a few days to even get me a copy of the report - do you think that I should have waited several days to start a security freeze, and just hope that the thieves wouldn't ruin my credit in the meantime? The CSAs at TransUnion had terrible attitudes and were very "whatever" about my refund. I filed a complaint with the state Attorney General and FTC. I think TransUnion is doing whatever it can to defraud crime victims of the filing fees.

In MA, we are allowed free Credit Reports each year from all three bureaus. Trans Union is the only one that gives consumers a hard time. Deliberately put wrong info on report, so personal info will not come up to print out the report, this allows them to give you the phone info on calling the 800 number where you are told to order by phone and it will be 4-8 weeks before it arrives. Instead of report arriving, you get a letter stating they want to charge you a fee. This is one of the worst companies in scamming the consumer. It's hard to believe they are allowed to handle your personal information. They seem to like to cheat disabled, seniors and low income. I refuse to put myself through it. What I wanted I got from the other 2 bureaus that had info. Both are well handled, make it easy to get your info and have the correction info on file from the choices to get the report and print. Do not expect much from this Co. What a mess up.

I will let the Gov office know that Trans Union is pulling scams on Consumers. This is a horrible company. If you are having issues, get a lawyer. They are handling personal info on you. Other sites you can put in your info and reports come up. Trans Union info is all wrong on purpose. They make you wait several weeks to send you a bill. It's all a scam on you to get money. They ignore the states that offer you the free reports and pretend they do not understand. Do not waste your time with this company. It so badly ran it's not worth it. I hope the local cities and Federal Gov looks into their scams. Good luck. I shall be letting mine know so they can handle from their end. They do not like Consumers being cheated in MA.

On May 9, 2013 I ran my Trans Union credit report and score on myFico.com. My score was 785. On June 11, 2013 I ran my Trans Union credit report and score again on myFico.com. I noticed my score had dropped 70 points to 715. I reviewed my credit report and was outraged that one of my lenders was reporting me as being 120 days late. I knew this was wrong, so I promptly called the lender. The lender said that I was NOT behind. In fact, I had NEVER been behind AND I had a $0.00 balance with them for several months. They said they would get the invalid information removed from my credit report. After speaking with the lender, I also called Trans Union and filed a dispute.

On June 18, 2013 I called Trans Union to check the status of the dispute. They told me that my lender agreed the negative information was erroneous and it had been removed from my credit report. Later on the same day, I ran my Trans Union credit report and score from myFico.com. I found my score did not return to 785, even though the invalid information had been removed. I called myFico.com and asked them why my score did not go back to 785. They told me it was because my TRUE late payment on an entirely different account from 2008 was now hurting my score as where it wasn't hurting my score before the negative information was added on June 11, 2013, and subsequently removed.

So just because invalid and inaccurate information was added to my credit report (and subsequently removed), my credit score has been negatively impacted by 49 points. If the invalid and inaccurate information had NOT been added to my report, my TRUE late payment on a different account would NOT have caused my score to be lowered.

This is a SCAM. I want to file a lawsuit, but I've read that consumers don't have a private right to act (can't sue) for violations under the Fair Credit Reporting Act for damages. If there are any lawyers reading this post, I have ALL documentation including all credit reports, scores and dates. It's very clear by looking at the credit reports from all 3 dates that nothing on my reports changed - besides the invalid and inaccurate information being added and subsequently removed. What if my job just happened to check my credit at the time in which the invalid information had been added to my report? I would have been FIRED. What if my insurance company had checked my credit at that time for their annual review? My rates would have skyrocketed and they would not have gone down even AFTER the information was removed.

What if I was in the middle of buying a house when this happened? I WAS. I put a $6,000 non-refundable deposit on a new construction house AFTER I was pre-approved on May 9, 2013. However, my score is only good for 90 days with that lender and my house is supposed to be complete on Sept. 3, 2013 - nearly 1 month after my score expires. So that means my lender must run my credit again on closing day, which means I'll be paying a higher APR AND a higher PMI rate, which will cost me more than an additional $100/month for the next 30 years. All because a lender put invalid and inaccurate information on my report and artificially lowered my score. To make matters worse, I have no "private right to act."

This, my friends, is a total and complete scam.

For the last few years, I have not been able to acquire my TransUnion report online. I am ALWAYS asked stupid questions that I have nothing to do with - which house did you live, AK, LA, IN, OH? Umm, no, none of those. I called them last week to try and get the information corrected and I could not understand the discussion. I thought the fellow asked me how he could help me. I asked him to remove an address they have on their report because I have never lived there; there is a shopping mall at that address. He then told me it was done; he was going to send something to me and he needed my credit card.

Um, why, I thought this was free? I have no idea what he was saying. I could not understand his severe accent but he was getting agitated with me for not giving him my credit card number to verify my identity. He had my SSN and my credit history on his screen. I answered all his questions. How would having my debit or credit card number help verify my identity? He told me my card would not be charged. I told him he did not need it then. His voice rose and he needed the card to verify my identity. This went on and on for 48 minutes. I checked my phone log.

I started getting freaked out and tried to tell the Indian fellow, "NO, you are NOT getting any type of payment to verify who I am." I called back to try and have someone else check my account to make sure the first person did not get angry and steal my information. He may have said he was going to do this; I seriously could not understand his extreme accent. The next fellow was a little easier to understand and he told me the first guy sold me some subscription. What? I never heard that ever nor did I knowingly agree.

The second fellow apologized and said he changed my profile information, you know, the information that allows you to access your account? I went back in to try and file a discrepancy report, all the validating questions were regarding school loans. I have never had a school loan so no, each question was, no loan. I was not allowed to access ANYTHING. I called them again. Again I got an Indian who waddles through English and interprets at will. Now I am freaked out. I would like to speak with someone I can understand.

I asked the fellow, "Where is TransUnion's call center?" He said, "TransUnion is an American company." "Okay, where are YOU? " "TransUnion is an American company." "I UNDERSTAND that, where is the call Center, not TransUnion Headquarters?" "All TransUnion calls are routed to INDIA, do you have a problem with that?" "No no, I am good, ALL TransUnion calls go to India?" "TransUnion is an American company and all calls are routed to India; do you have a problem with that?" "No, I can't very well, can I?" I lost my patience at that point and was freaked out. Then, when he went into details about how awesome my credit is, I REALLY freaked out. My credit is horrid.

I am not keen on giving my information to people who are actually located on my continent. I am upset about this because those SSN numbers are our lives, everything affects them, the smallest things hurt them and the larger things can stop your life in its path and make it difficult to live happily. Somehow it seems to me, since our SSN is for American tracking information, why is it monitored on a different continent and country?

My Chapter 7 bankruptcy discharge order is dated December 2011 and TransUnion still does not have it on my credit report. While Experian and Equifax are raising my credit scores due to paid off "credit rebuilding" unsecured loans and charged off accounts due to the correctly reported bankruptcy discharge, TransUnion is reporting a Chapter 13 ongoing bankruptcy, delinquent accounts and claims the Federal Government never reported the Chapter 7 bankruptcy discharge to them. This was odd, considering the other two agencies seemed to receive it just fine and dandy.

I called TU and got India. I could not log on to their site because they said I had the wrong information on myself. I now have to fax dispute to add the bankruptcy to my report and maybe I will hear back from them via snail mail in up to 30 days. To clear up my website log on ordeal, I must send them a copy of my driver's license. I complained enough and am actually able to email a copy to them, though I wonder if that will work at all.

I am pretty sure that they only understood 50% of what I said as I got transferred yet again and ended up talking to someone who tried really hard to speak plainly and understand what I said. After discussing my Chapter 7/Chapter 13 dispute for the umpteenth time, this person said that maybe she should dispute the Chapter 13 occurrence on my report in addition to requiring the Chapter 7 discharge papers. Gee? Ya think? Considering that's what I told the person 4 transfers ago.

I talked to approximately 5 people to get very little resolved. When I asked for a supervisor who spoke clear English, I was transferred to a supervisor in the tech services department who was actually nice but couldn't help me do much since he was the IT guy.

This company needs to be investigated by the BBB and shut down. Banks need to smarten up and not use them as most of their information is highly inaccurate. And if my info is highly inaccurate in the bad way - imagine how many people's information is highly inaccurate in the good way - as in they actually have poor credit but TU hasn't gotten around to adding the bad stuff yet. I signed up with TransUnion Credit Monitoring Services. Each month, I pay the $14.95 plus taxes to monitor my credit and keep tabs on my score. I recently applied for a mortgage. I pre-qualified based on my income and self-reported credit score. When the lender started the process for pre-approval, the amount and interest rate were much different than what I was prequalified for. My lender actually provided me the Kroll Factual Data report they use to determine risk. Much to my surprise, the scores listed by TransUnion, Equifax & Experian were almost 100 points less than the numbers represented to me on my TransUnion account. Note that I ran my credit in February 2013 to get my latest score and rating.

Here's where I believe TransUnion misrepresents & misleads its customers. The numerical credit score it lists is a "personal credit score". FICO (Fair Isaac, Beacon 5, Classic 04) pulls scores from TransUnion, Experian, & Equifax that are not "personal credit scores" and they are not scored the same. Thus what a lender sees is not what you see. So the number TransUnion is reporting to me, that I am paying for, is completely different than the number TransUnion is reporting to FICO. When I called to cancel my subscription, the representative kept repeating the script, "The scoring we are reporting to you is a personal score with a grade that represents your credit." There was no explanation as to the different score sent to FICO or why I am not allowed to see that score.

Also mortgage lenders, credit card companies & auto loan lenders do not use personal credit scores but FICO scores. These companies selling monthly subscriptions are not reflecting the credit scores that lenders look for and are confusing the public. When I called Kroll Factual Data, the representative said he hears the same story countless times each week. I am paying for a service under the belief that the scores reported to me are the scores reported to lenders. This was incorrect. The scores reported to me are worthless, literally. Lenders do not use them and if you attempt to show these scores with your credit report, you will hear something like this... "A consumer credit report has a different formula than a mortgage credit report so the scores would be slightly different."

Credit scores & lenders are the only group that have such unyielding power & influence yet are held to no standards regarding full disclosure, formulas & the overall disparity among credit reporting agencies. It is scary the amount of money lenders make off credit reports per monthly subscriptions, interest rates that lenders fall into based on the scores and the multiple partner arrangements the credit reporting agencies (Equifax, Experian & TransUnion) have with credit card, mortgage and auto loan companies.

I almost signed up for one of their trials, but ran away when I scoured the site for how much it would cost me later. Couldn't find it. I would recommend everyone do that same thing. Run. I went to the other 2 companies immediately afterwards and had a very pleasant experience - getting what info I wanted within minutes. Since these jokers are playing with our information, they need to be held to a very high standard - just as they do with our credit ratings.

I just received a decline to raise my credit limit by $2,500. The reason? Trans Union is saying my credit score is 649. They say that this is due to serious delinquency, proportion of balance to credit limits, time since delinquency is too recent or unknown, too few accounts paid as agreed, and too many inquiries last 12 months. They wrote that if I have questions regarding my score, I can contact Trans Union Consumer Relations. I logged on and the only option was to purchase one of their several plans to look at my score. However, I know they must give me a fee report.

After going through a government link after much researching, I found the link to the legally mandatory free report. They asked me to fill out a form, which was not working properly; it was all misaligned. It failed once. Finally, I got to my report. At quick glance, I saw not a single report of delinquency or any other issue, so I tried to print it. The site crashed my entire computer (a rare occurrence nowadays). Once I restarted, I attempted to return to the site. I could find the site that wanted to get me to spend money, but when I found the one I was on, I got the following message: “We cannot proceed with your request at this time. / Explanation: Unfortunately, we are unable to process your request based on the information provided. / What to do: Please click here to return to annualcreditreport.com and order your Personal Credit Report by phone or mail.” They did not include a number. The declining credit card company gave one to me though.

I called 1-800-888-4212. The recorded voice gave me lots of ways to spend money but did not have an option to talk with a live person or any information on how to dispute a claim. The confusing message went around and around trying to sell me several Trans Union product/services. They tried to sell me via a long recording - their credit score report not once, not twice, but three times before they agreed to send me a mailed copy of my credit report, which is not what I wanted. Then, they disconnected me.

I ask you, is this okay? These corporations have my financial fortunes in their hands but give me no easy way to fight them when they are wrong. This corporation is trusted to accurately report my financial responsibility but can’t keep their own website in working order. How dare they? How is this, in any of our minds, okay? How do we, as Americans, accept the power these financial companies have over us, milking us for money while providing no service to US, just a service to other financial corporations? In fact, isn't this a serious conflict of interest? The more often they can collect a negative ding against us, or incorrectly report a negative ding, the more likely we will pay for their service to let us know they have dinged us.

Americans, are you perfectly okay that Trans Union, and the other credit reporting agencies, can hold our financial well-being hostage? Are we okay that it is up to us to prove our innocence somehow, God knows how? Is it okay that we must figure out how to protect ourselves and our family’s finances by journeying through a mystifying labyrinth purposefully constructed to keep us helpless and powerless so we are forced to pay the very same companies to help us that are also hurting us?

I need help. Am I the only one shaken to the core by the sheer wrongness of all of this? This is a giant I can’t fight alone - they are too powerful!

I know that I called and cancelled all of the credit companies’ services, when I got the first charges on my credit card. I just got a new phone that I guess has newer features keeping track of my spending. Today, I got a message telling me that Trans Union charged me $16.95. As I remember, companies like these charge on a monthly basis. Trans Union is one that I know for a fact I cancelled on Oct. 13th, 2012. I sure wish I would have known that I have been paying $16.95 a month for a service I cancelled and do not use. What a waste of money.

Of course when I called to cancel for the second time, I realized that the company outsources their phone calls. The person I talked to, I could barely understand, and all they did was try and tell me that I could have a complementary service and then it would be at a discounted rate. What do these people not understand when you say, "Cancel my subscription!" especially after informing them "I cancelled my subscription in October. Why am I still being charged?” I don't even think that there is any way that I can get my money back for all of those months. Unbelievable!

Today, I was turned down by a respectable organization, Chase Manhattan, for failing to answer the credit questions provided by yes, you guessed it, TransUnion. I rung Chase Manhattan to explain there must be a mistake and was told "Nothing we can do." After 4 transfers and I getting angry, the Chase organization finally told me the problem must be with the TransUnion data. Chase gave me a number to ring and sort it out. This I tried to do! Of course, TransUnion has off-shored its work to Bombay (I know this as I have worked with the Indian companies and got him to admit it). I explained the issue, and he told me he can help but first I must pass the identity questions to prove it was me! This made me even more angry because of course I failed the questions because their data is inaccurate!

The question I failed is where I have lived in Canada, a reasonably easy question but not to TransUnion. They have two addresses in their system. It's the same house number, same postcode, same address but different towns - one being my local area name and the other under my city. Both addresses are the same, but in their system of things, I lived somewhere else. Of course when asked where else I have lived in Canada, my answer is nowhere else! I tried to explain this to Transunion, but I wasted my breath. I have to put it in writing(!) proving who I am for them to change their inaccurate data.

Armed with the error, I rung Chase back and answered the 4 questions given to me and I was approved for credit. The sad thing for Chase and this TransUnion company is, of the 4 questions asked, 3 were wrong in their answer. Yes, 3 out of 4 data questions were wrong. I answered them wrong and got approved. Chase, you need to dump using this company fast; they are completely out of date and they should not be used.

P.S. TransUnion, I will not be writing to you to correct your errors. I do not use quill and pen any more. If you cannot use email like everyone else, then I will not sort out your errors. All post their issues and then maybe the companies that use their services will get the message. You are losing customers because their data is wrong!

As of now, they have not corrected anything on my report.

Today when I tried to log in to the online site, I got a screen asking for a security question/answer & password. No matter how many times, browsers and even different computers I use, the page just reloads asking for my password. When I called CS (after all the prompts), they told me to try it again but still no luck. I agree with almost all the other complaints on this site that if our quality of life is to be determined by our credit, then there should be regulations and laws about how things are reported and corrected.

I said I had not and that I was trying to buy a vehicle and this showed up. The other 2 credit unions don't show me as being deceased. I asked what could be done. They want proof of my social security card, my driver's license copied and 2 pieces of proof to show that I live at my current address, and a form 2548 from Social Security which is a form for disability. When I asked how long this will take, I was told 3 to 4 weeks.

I did this with them 2 years ago. At that time, they only wanted a copy of social security and the form 2548. I did that and now once again I am showing up as deceased. When I asked how this could happen, they said one of my creditors must have reported it. I am angry and frustrated. I am reported as dead and there doesn't seem much solution. I am hesitant to send so much personal information, but if I do not, no vehicle loan.

In July, I received a call from Discover Card indicating that they were suspending my account because 13 derogatory accounts had just been posted to my TransUnion credit report. Some of the accounts were as old as 2006 and several were in collection. None of these accounts appeared on either my Experian or Equifax reports, only TransUnion. As a result, TransUnion lowered my credit score by 200 points to 559 which also stalled my mortgage refinance as I was no longer considered credit worthy.

I disputed the charges with TransUnion who agreed to investigate. The largest of the derogatory accounts have been removed but I have had to call TransUnion repeatedly to get them to continue investigating the others. How can they post detrimental information based upon name alone? If they had checked the social security numbers, they would have seen that they didn't match. Their carelessness is unacceptable and may end up costing me $1,500 if I have to extend the rate lock on my mortgage refinance. They perform a critical role in the credit granting process and need to take that role more seriously.

According to the offer, I would get a "free" credit report. However, when I pulled the credit report, my credit card was immediately charged $29.95! I called TransUnion only to find out that the "free" credit report was not a benefit of the 7 day free trial! So, I had no choice but to accept the charges. I told the representative that I definitely wanted the 7 day free trial cancelled!

Seven days later, my credit card was charged $16.95! I called TransUnion to find out why my credit card was charged that fee. I was told that I didn't cancel the 7 day free trial so the fee was charged. I explained to the representative that I definitely requested the 7 day free trial be cancelled! She said it was not indicated in the computer! I tried to appeal to logic! Why would I pay $29.95 for a credit report that was supposed to be free and then intend to accept the program after 7 days for another fee?! Her only response was to go through all the benefits of the program and when I told her no, she offered the program to me for only $9.90 a month! I was ready to explode! I told her to cancel the program today and I don't want to see another charge on my credit card!

Also, I still have not received my rewards on the app that initiated this whole mess! In addition to this, the card I used was my debit card and without help from my family, my account would've been overdrawn! I will never do this again! I believe this 7 day free trial offer is used to charge an account for something the consumer doesn't want!

Also, I had paid all my other accounts as agreed (even up to 13 years ago) and now it is showing too much credit which is negatively affecting my account score.

They asked me to send in information and they would remove some accounts to help me boost my score up which I did and now they send me a letter stating quote, "TransUnion will maintain a record of positive credit information (i.e. accounts that were paid and have no negative history) for a period of twenty (20) years. This retention period benefits most consumers by recognizing their previous involvement with the credit granting industry, even when the consumer has limited or no current credit history." **? So, I phone these yodels and say this is ** because I am better off having a negative report that drops off in 6 years than having too much good credit! This is fraud. They told me one thing in terms of being required to sign on for a membership at a monthly cost and being able to later cancel the membership. But their practice is quite different in that they make it just about impossible to cancel the membership. I have invested more than an hour so far in trying to contact them to cancel my membership to no avail. They are clearly intentionally obstructing the process. One gets the impression that either there is no way to cancel this membership or it is so difficult and extremely time consuming to do so that they are quite sure the vast majority of people will just give up out of frustration and lack of the enormous amount of time it will require to do so.

I repeat: this is fraud. They need to be confronted and forced to reply to what they are doing. They are treating the public - people who are contacting them for a credit report, simply because there are times when one absolutely needs to get one's credit report - with disdain and disrespect. When I noticed that Trans Union was still reporting the judgment on my credit report on 3/5/2012, I sent Trans Union the Notice of Disposition from the courthouse which proved the judgment was vacated; and I asked Trans Union to remove the judgment from my credit report. On 3/12/2012, I received a letter back from Trans Union which stated that they verified the judgment was accurate, and they refused to remove it.

I then called the courthouse and spoke to a court clerk, who confirmed that the court records indicate that the judgment was indeed vacated on 9/17/2010. On 3/23/2012, I decided to call Trans Union, as opposed to writing a 2nd letter. I called and spoke to a heavily-accented male representative at their call center in India. I tried to explain to the representative that the judgement had been vacated and that I had sent Trans Union a copy of the official court document from the courthouse which was signed by the judge.

Unfortunately, the representative did not understand the legal term of "vacate" in American law. His response was "You did not send in the proper paperwork." I asked him what the proper paperwork would be, and his response was "I do not know." I told him I would need to know what the proper paperwork would be, so I could correct this on my credit report. Once again, he responded, "I do not know." At that point, I asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor got on the phone, and I explained the whole situation to her. She said she would have the matter re-investigated and that I would receive a response in the mail within 30 days once their reinvestigation was complete. In total, I was on the phone for 45 minutes. I hung up, thinking that this would be an easy fix once the reinvestigation was completed.

Today, I received a 2nd letter from Trans Union in the mail. It said that they re-investigated and confirmed the accuracy of the judgment! Are they out of their minds? What method of verification are they using? They are obviously not bothering to verify at all! I dialed the call center again. I spoke to yet another representative in the call center in India. I felt like, for a few moments, I was getting somewhere. I asked the representative if he understood in the US what it meant when a judgment was vacated. He said that he did and that he understood my problem and that he would correct it. And then he added, "So we will re-investigate and you will receive our results in the mail within 30 days."

I thought I would lose my mind. I tearfully explained to him that they had investigated three times already, and each time, they have investigated incorrectly. His response was "Well, did you pay the judgment." At this point, I really was ready to have a complete breakdown, and I responded, "No, I do not have to pay the judgement. The judgement was vacated. That means I do not have to pay. That means the judgment is null and void. The court reversed it's original decision. The judgement no longer exists. Why would I pay?"

I asked to speak to a supervisor. He would not put one on the phone. I am at the end of my rope. I do not know what to do at this point. Trans Union's inaccurate reporting is preventing me from getting credit, causing me emotional grief and wasting my valuable time. It is an atrocity that a company that reports on American's credit would outsource their call center to another country with representatives who do not know what they are doing or understand American laws. I now have to wait another 30 days for them to "re-investigate," and I do not have any hope that their third investigation will be any different from their first 2 so-called investigations.

The worst part of it all is there is no end to this--no higher up I can speak to, to rectify this. I am going to write to the FTC now and the Attorney-General's office. How can this company ruin people's credit scores like this? It must be illegal. I am ready to sue them, if it is possible.

They told me that anyone can report any address to my account and report anything and that they have no way of knowing who it was since it was reported electronically and that they just assume that it is a person/organization that has permission to access my file.

When I asked to speak to a manager to complain, that’s when I was told that I was reaching a call center in India and that they don't have the same privacy rules as Canada and therefore they really don't care who reports on your file. From what he says, both Equifax and Trans Union call centers are in India. I knew something was wrong when he asked me where I was from and I said Toronto, then he asked me if that is considered Ontario. Wow! What a great country we have here.

Don't think for a minute if you put a fraud alert on your file that you are protected because these people have proven that there is no protection. I am actually going to write the address shown for Trans Union and ask them about the call center screening process regarding privacy. If there is no screening process and anyone can work at these call centers, no wonder Identify theft is on the rise when they don't care who can get access to your personal information.

Trans Union is the biggest scam for a credit reporting company I have ever seen. My trans score just dropped for these reasons: 1. Too many serious delinquencies (Reason 24). I have had one delinquency in the past 10 years; 2. Too many inquiries (Reason 22). I just did a refi on my house with my own mortgage company. They ran a credit check; 3. Too few satisfactory mortgage accounts (Reason 46). They are joking right? In the mid 90s, I had and paid off a house. I bought another one. I paid that off early 2000. I bought a third house and have been living in it for over five years. That is 20 years of mortgages by my count. What is their good number? 4. Bankcard account balances are too high in proportion to credit limits (Reason 06). Over half of my credit cards are empty. My ratio is at about 25% according to anyone in banking that is outstanding. Don't ever give the frauds in this company a dime for their reports. They should go to jail for screwing with people's credit scores. For these reasons, they tank my score.

How do they think I got there in the first place? Then to top it off, when I did request it, they wanted to charge my credit card something like $11 for the report. Free? So I called. Also, massively sucky system. You say no, - they barrage you with a 60-second commercial trying to force you to say "yes" to their damn sales pitches. Tell them to quit wasting peoples time. I would like to waste some of theirs, now.

They suck, suck, suck! Bank of America sent an update, for their error. I was never late on a payment- not once. It was a BOA error. They tell me they sent in a "fix"- but the credit reporting agencies like TransUnion take their sweet time updating the report. In order to get a copy of the report you have to give them your credit card information and they automatically sign you up for a credit monitoring service that you have to call them within 7 days to cancel. I didn't want it and only wanted my credit report but the only way I could get it was to sign up. I tried to call immediately to cancel the membership within 7 days, but Trans Union has limited hours available for you to call and cancel. I tried to call a few days later within the limited hours and was on hold for over 5 minutes and I had to get back to work.

After 7 days my credit card was billed for the service. When I tried to call to remove the charge I was on the phone for over 14 minutes and told they would cancel all future service but would not refund my money because I had entered into a contract and that was binding. What kind of legitimate service forces you to sign an intent to purchase something you don't want in order to get the information you are legally entitled to, and then makes it difficult for you to get out of paying them within their stated timeframe and availability, and then refuses to give you your money back? Most people just end up paying it, which is what they count on. I am sure most of the people are victimized into paying for something they do not want as I was. Trans Union did nothing to correct this (their) mistake. Today, December 7, 2011, I found another adverse account that I have no knowledge of. I called to complain. The other 2 credit reporting agencies never have these erroneous adverse accounts on their reports. I asked the tech why this happens, and why I have to correct it, when it's their error? I never got an answer. She just kept repeating that I could file a dispute report. I had just done that on their website, but she didn't have that info of the dispute.

I have these suggestions to Trans Union: 1. Do your job correctly, or at least correct your mistakes, or get out of this type business. The other agencies do this, why can't you? and; 2. Hire an American to answer your phones, instead of someone in India who barely speaks English, and can only read from a script that doesn't even apply to the problem. Your tech support is useless!

They didn't even spell the name of my workplace correctly and gave my occupation incorrectly and that wast just the first page out of 10. I will never use them again and will cancel all info. I contacted Trans Union as well as Experian and EquiFax credit reporting agencies concerning my FICO score in May 2011. I received credit reports in June 2011, but no explanation for a lowering of the FICO number.

I received a free FICO score from my account with Sears Solutions - HSBS card services where I have a Mastercard account **. The service reported my FICO score as 627 in March 2011. Now in Sept. 2011, it is 583.

I have missed no payments. I only have three accounts--Sears Mastercard, Chesapeake Bank and Suntrust Bank.

As I stated above, I have sent letters to all (3) credit reporting agencies and also phoned FICO, who said they have no control over the FICO number, that the number is based on the information that comes from Trans Union, and the other (2) credit reporting agencies.

If my FICO score was 627 in March, then by God it should be even higher than 627 now, as all bills have been paid ahead of schedule, not late or missed. So something is wrong and I would appreciate your assistance in getting this corrected.

There was a woman, that lived where I do, that shares my first and last name, however she has a different middle initial. I called TransUnion at the number they gave out to report disputes.

This number is routed to India, and the man I got was rude and useless. He spoke so fast, I had to keep asking him to repeat himself, and it annoyed him. I explained the issue with my name, and he said "There is no middle initial.” I told him that I was looking at a copy of the report. He said his screen didn't say that. I offered to fax it to him so he could see it. He said, “You can do whatever you want.”

I asked to speak with his supervisor and he again said, "You can do what you want", and before he transferred me he said, "He's going to tell you the same thing", he was right. Clearly TransUnion settles disputes by denying they exist. As consumers, what recourse do we have?

I am third year medical student. Currently, I have a monthly membership with one of the credit reporting bureau's so that any alerts on my credit get emailed to me directly as soon as they are posted to my credit history. The reason I signed up for such a service was because the last time I looked at my credit reports, there were numerous discontinuities which I reported and fought to get taken off as they were inaccurate reflections of my financial actions. At the time, it was the first time I had looked at my credit report in 4 years. So I guess expecting some sort of discontinuity was expected. But since then, I have been watching my credit alerts on a monthly basis.

As it so happens, the last time a civil judgement claim was filed against my credit, it came from TransUnion. I went to the courts where the case had been decided and got a letter of good conduct and clean history from the county clerk's office. After I sent that to TransUnion, the fraudulent reportings were taken off. What I would like to highlight is that the burden of proof lay on my shoulders during this procedure as TransUnion in no way helped me to clear my name. Now again, TransUnion has falsely reported another civil judgement on my credit report. Again, there are no telephone numbers provided, no name for the county where the judgement was passed, no case or docket number for me to trace the judgment. Again, the burden of proof is on my shoulders.

Now I understand that credit companies are supposed to bring forth such judgements when necessary. But out of the three credit bureaus, only TransUnion has reported these fraudulent charges on my credit reports and this is not the first time this has occurred. This is my 2nd time in almost as many months that I have to fight these false charges back. I don't expect much, but the least they can do is give me a way to at least talk to the people they got their information from so I can get proof of my innocence. In a perfect world when we (the consumers) file a dispute, usually the credit bureaus go and re-evaluate the problems. But I tried that last time and nothing got done. So I know that I need to get proof myself again, but I don't even know which county/state the civil judgement is from. I am sorry to say but that to me does not look like good business practice, it's just frustrating to fight the same company over again over a similar issue.

The first time such a fraudulent claim was reported against me, I lost my credit cards (one of which was a good standing account of 7 years). Additionally, I also had problems applying for loans as I am a student in Medical School. This time, I had applied for another credit card so that I could start another account to build my credit again, which got denied no doubt based on the reporting of TransUnion's false civil judgment. My next trimester starts in a week and a half. I have no idea how this is going to affect my loans this semester, but quite honestly, if I haven't done the crime I should not have to worry about the time. Yet I may have to face the consequences of someone else's actions, which might lead to me not getting my financial loans this trimester.

They will tell you, you are trying to cancel the internet account, but you have the mail account and vs. versa. When you get to the point of cancellation with the potential correct offshore representative, mysteriously the connection will be lost. The person will say, "Hello?", "Hello?" over and over, pretending they can no longer hear you.

After several instances of this at different times and different phones, the truth is that this is a scam. When asked why I was cancelling, I said, "Because I have tried to cancel over 5 times with no luck." They try to convince you to stay, but all I want is out! I finally received a cancellation #, but my credit card is still being billed and I am still receiving notices when something on my credit changes 3 months after cancelling. I am so ready to contact my attorney. If they bill me one more time, consider it done. I am researching how to have this company investigated for fraudulent practices. I am still being billed for a service I do not want and was told was cancelled. I have spend way too many hours on this and zero looking at my credit score!

I looked into the credit reports I had from trying to get a professional license and found that the exact behavior that the settlement is for is continued after the close date; if that makes sense. I guess what I mean is that the last date for failing to report a bankruptcy discharged debt as such was May of 2009, while after that the major credit bureaus are reporting some such debts as open, charged off, owing, late, etc. We have bankruptcy papers along with dated credit reports to show this. Somebody logged into the system using background information and SS# from me and changed my username and password. The real problem is that TransUnion posts the full credit card numbers for all my accounts on the annual credit report unlike the other two credit rating services. The theives were able to get all my accounts right from TransUnion and cash advance from my cards. This is crazy. Why don't they just X out some of the numbers so that an impostor can't get the full account information. It was also ridiculously easy for someone to access my information. The same thing just happened to a colleague on TransUnion.

    (1) I have a loan in good standing and the 5th payment will be made on Nov 1st. The lender uses TransUnion (TU), but nothing is showing up regarding this positive account. In contacting the lender, I was told that they have submitted the account to TU, but TU has a glitch in their system and is having some system problems, and there is nothing that they can do as TU has to fix their system problem. This account, by the way, would show my current address for TU's records; TU shows a previous address as my current address and I have gone 'round and 'round on that issue with them. (2) In an attempt to dispute some records that TU has on my credit report, I went to the TU website. Had to enter all sorts of information. This seems to be the case on all of the bureau's websites. They sure don't make it easy to dispute something. Anyway, I entered the personal info. Was told that I already have an account. Evidently the "free" 30 day trial that I got to use for only 5 days or so and which was canceled by them (not by my request) and which they charged me $14.95 for anyway.

I wanted to see about getting a VA home mortgage. My credit report came back with numerous discrepancies, and so I wanted to clear them up. Awhile ago I tried to sign up online for TrueCredit by TransUnion (TU).
After going through the subscription process, I get a notice something to the effect of "Your privacy is important to us... we cannot show you your report at this time... please call...". I thought, ok, some sort of glitch, and walked away from it. After sending out certified letters to collections and accounts listed, I knew I would have to monitor this stuff. So I again tried to subscribe to TrueCredit. Same scenario. This time I called the number given. The man I spoke with said that I had the wrong SS #. I'm definite I entered it correctly. He did something, and told me that I would now be able to have my free 30 day trial. Ok, cool. Good to go. Or, so I thought. While looking at my checking account, I saw that TU had debited my account for $1 (verification of checking account) AND $14.95 for the "free 30 day trial" TrueCredit subscription! I called back. Spoke with a man. He said that I have already had my free 30 day trial, so was billed. I explained to him that I could not go past the notice that they could not show me my report, I received NO confirmation of any such subscription or notice that the attempt even went through, I was UNABLE to view any report from any agency, and that I had NOT had any trial period. He said they would credit my account, and that the 30 days trial would continue. Four days later, still no credit. I called again. Spoke with "Sally". Told her the situation. Got the usual "I'm sorry for any inconvenience" and she asked for my credit card number to credit my account. I asked, "Why?? You should already have that information since your company has already used it to debit me for something that was free?". She said that she needs to send it to billing for manual processing because the system does not want to process the return. I gave it to her. She said it will take 5-8 business days to process. I explained that the debit was processed immediately and so should my credit. Didn't do any good though. 15 minutes or so later, I get an email saying that m 3 in 1 credit monitoring subscription has been canceled. What?!? I didn't request a cancellation! I only requested a refund of a debit that should NOT had been processed in the FIRST place! I called them again. Spoke with "May". After having explained the latest rounds of events to her, I heard her "I'm sorry for any inconvenience" even before she spoke it. She said that there's nothing she can do about the cancellation now, but 'can' email me a gift certificate for a free 30 day trial. Wow. Why?? So that they can charge me again?? lol. Sooo crazy. I did file a federal consumer protection complaint against them at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/. But I'm not holding my breath. I see that TU is reporting some accounts that are past the 7 year statute of limitations for both collecting and reporting. I'm awaiting validation of those debts from those creditors/collections. I see some Worker's Comp bills that should had been paid by my employer's insurance, so I need to contend with that issue as well.

I have never had a problem with Equifax. In fact, to the contrary. They are courteous and helpful. Why is it that with two outstanding credit bureaus, we even need a third? TransUnion makes certain that if you dispute even one item in your file, that you are locked out of their system entirely. Their site has double and triple billed me for credit reports and scores and they refuse to refund me! All they say is that "my system shows that you were only billed once." They also "claim" to investigate your dispute but they don't. I know for an absolute FACT that they don't because neither Equifax, Experian or myself could verify ANY of these accounts they've put in my file. I must explain thatthe form letter and disclosure form I received from TransUnion reported 'UNABLE TO LOCATE CREDIT REPORT'. I have had a credit history not for years, but for DECADES. How could they not have credit reports. I received online reports from creditreports.com (from the three agencies) less than a year ago. This was a major problem because each time I requested the report, I had to send in a copy of my ID with a bill; and I was still unable to obtain a report.

The last time I called, I was still told that I had an online account (which I never setup) and that was the only I could obtain the report, but I still had to send in a copy of my ID with bill just to get that information. Here it is, 9 months later and I still have not been able to get the credit report. I finally got a customer service person to give me access to an online account that I never setup, which had an email address that I no longer had (this was explained 9 months ago) and I still can't get the report.

All the site does is give address where it can be requested, which this information could have been given out the first time I called. Yet, every time I try to get my free report from TransUnion, they can't seem to produce it online. But if I want to pay for one, they can produce it in a hot second. If I printed something about you or made a statement about you that was not factual then there would be consequences. But not for these guys, nope. First, if you can actually talk to a person and not a recording, it's a miracle. And when you do, it's like filling out a government form in triplicate to get them to consider reviewing your complaint. If they do review your complaint, how long does it take for them to take action? Pretty much when they get around to it.

What ever happened to getting a letter of recommendation from your bank or God forbid, you actually having a savings account, showing that you have the means and ability to earn and save money. These companies have basically no responsibility for what they report about you, and worse yet, to see what they are saying they can charge you a fee to see. Isn't that like extortion? At a bare minimum, you should be able to call a real live person during normal business hours in your time zone and talk to someone who can tell you what your credit score is; tell you how that value was derived; and if there are issues, tell you how to resolve them. If the report is factual then tell the client how to contact the creditor in question. These companies, in my opinion, are the reason we have a credit crisis at this time. I would bet that they are profiting from these high loan rates that they help manufacture by their report techniques.

I enrolled in triple advantage to monitor my credit score. I noticed my score dropped with Transunion (My score was 667 in Feb '09) and Experian (649) to 576 for both in May. I am currently trying to reach them both, since my credit reports so no new negative information, charge-offs, liens, and my last late payment was in 2005. All I want is someone to tell me why my score dropped.

I discovered recently that TransUnion/TrueCredit had been double-billing my account for quite awhile. After contacting them via their 800 number, and being given the runaround by a customer service rep (he couldn't find the account to cancel it), I filed complaints with Consumeraffairs.com and the Better Business Bureau. Within two weeks of filing the complaints the TransUnion customer service manager called and offered to reimburse us for the double-billed amount. She also confirmed that the account had been cancelled. And said she would issue a memo to their customer service reps to check ALL the tools available to them when searching for a customer's account. Of course, I will have no way to confirm that the memo goes out, but I would hope that TransUnion would make sure their customer service reps are properly trained.

A few years ago I subscribed to a TransUnion credit monitoring service by the name of True Credit. For a fee that is debited quarterly they will alert you when your credit bureau is accesses and will provide credit reports and scores from the three major bureaus. In late 2007, I canceled the subscription but continued to be billed. I called the toll free number and the company apologized and refunded my money. The next quarter I was again billed. I began calling the toll free number provided by the website and the agents had the records of my calls but still my bank account was debited, only this time they would not refund. I wrote letters with no success. Finally, in late Feb-early March I called and advised that I was closing my account to avoid further charges for a subscription that I did not want. The service representative stated that I had 2 subscriptions (potential fraud) and only one had been closed. He assured me that he would cancel the the second and that there were no other products in my name. I closed my Regions Bank account and they agreed to flag that particular debit as fraudulent if it should occur again. In April, 2009 the company again attempted to debit the closed bank account, but were blocked. Yesterday, 5/1/2009, I received a collection notice attempting to collect the subscription plus fees with the threat that Telecheck had been contacted and I would no longer be able to use my checking account for purchases. I need help and do not know where to turn. When consumers subscribe to a service, there must be a way to cancel that subscription. And if that cancellation process fails, there must be a way to escalate. I have been trying for over a year to cancel this and according to the representatives I have spoken with in their call center, the records show the calls. I do not believe that I will be able to resolve this without assistance.

Since May 2007, TransUnion/TrueCredit have been double-billing my credit card. When I called to cancel the account (you can't do it online), I was told that it could not be found, using either SS# or log in ID. An 800 number is the only way to contact customer service and they are totally clueless. If Customer Service can't find the account to cancel it, why can accounting find it to double-bill?
