Dogs are akc certified. Very clean and organized place to shop for a puppy. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Help me picked up supplies after I bought my puppy since I was the first time owner of a puppy. Very patient customer service every time I go back to shop. Everybody in the store says hi to my puppy since they still remember him. Haha. All in all, if any of my friends looking for a pet I’d recommend them to take a look at this place before they make a decision. Below is my cutie pie. He is 3.5 month old now.

I wanted to write a review to tell people about my experience at Shake A Paw. It started with just a trip to shake a paw to see the puppies. We were greeted by Bryan who was extremely helpful, friendly and a pleasure to talk to. He introduced us to a Mini Australian Shepard who we fell in love with immediately and decided to purchase. We then met James the manager was also extremely nice, helpful and a pleasure to interact with. My experience was 5 star and I recommend shake a paw to anyone looking to bring home a new member of the family!!

My girlfriend and I are in the market for a Puppy. After spending a decent amount of time in the Lynbrook store yesterday deciding which puppy we like best, my girlfriend asked to play with a puppy. We asked a male sales Rep which told us we had to ask another female sales rep. When the female sales rep approached us and we asked to play with the puppy, her response was “are you sure you really want to play with this puppy? They get sick very often so you probably shouldn’t.” I told her that we were seriously interested and finally she let my girlfriend play with the puppy. My girlfriend went in the booth with the puppy and I stood outside looking in. The female sales rep left and the male sales rep came over. I asked him how much a different puppy was and he looked at me and responded “a lot” which I was offended by.
I let the comment slide without saying anything, but then he began to make more demeaning comments which caught me off guard since we had no other previous interactions which would have brought about this behavior and my girlfriend and I were serious about bringing the dog home. At this point I was bothered by his comments so I responded “why wouldn’t you tell me how much the other dog was?”. He responded saying “because I know you wouldn’t have bought it”. At this point I was so bothered that I had my girlfriend give the dog back and we left the store and she was crying the whole way home because of the situation and how badly she wanted the puppy. This was unacceptable and unwarranted behavior by the sales rep and I hope that Shake A Paw fixes this problem.

I have been going to Shake A Paw since they opened many years ago. I purchase all of my puppy (dog) supplies and food from them throughout the years. I have had the pleasure of dealing with Kathy (an employee) for several years now. She always greets me with a big smile and hello. She goes out of her way to assist with any supplies I need. While purchasing supplies, I usually take a few minutes to play and look at the many breeds of puppies on display that day. Most of the time they're on many types and different sizes and temperaments. There's nothing that can change a bad day to good more than the happiness shown from a puppy when you give them a little of your attention. They are very well taken care of by the entire staff.
I have never seen anything but a very clean, organized and well stocked store. One of the best things is it never smell of anything unsanitary. Not just because they obsessively clean the cages but they always have those great smelling candles lit within the store. I would highly recommend this place to anyone that needs or wants a new friend to add to their family or just needs supplies for their existing ones. Great store, puppies, and employees!

They have a great selection of dog breeds, with different ages and types. It's worth it just to see the puppies because of the amazing variety. I got a Shiba Inu puppy, Hachie, there at about 10 weeks old in June 21. (I was so curious of his peculiarly amazing/well-behaved temperament so I got his 5 generation pedigree from AKC and found out he has a bunch of Champion bloodlines.) I love/appreciate that they give health insurance for about a month when you get a puppy there. Puppies are fragile and it can be stressful for their health moving place to place from the breeder to the store and ultimately to their forever home.
Shake A Paw knows this and they have been helpful and assuring since day one when I got my puppy. They went through everything with me, guiding me on the care of Hachie. They told me what to expect, what might/could happen, and what to do when it does. They also have a one year health guarantee on the puppy from conditions that might develop on the time frame. I would also like to mention price tags; there have been mentions of them being pricey but ultimately they're not; they have assurances/guarantees when you buy a pet from them and they're prices are within range of purebred puppies in the northeast.

I purchased my new puppy in June 2017. I went back and forth to Shake A Paw Lynbrook several times, each time Chris was so happy to see me and ever so patient with me. I did not know what I wanted to purchase. Since my husband passed away I was very confused if I really wanted a puppy. Well Chris should be recognized for his outstanding help, consideration, devotion and loving care he gave to me. I finally walked in in June and he walked me to the new puppies that just came in and there she was, he stood with me the whole time I was bonding with her then he graciously made sure that I had everything I needed for my new life with my new love, and love her I do.
Chris told me that she somehow will fill the empty void and quietness in my home after I leave my kids and grandchildren, when the door closes and I am alone she is there to comfort me - well we comfort each other. I also go down to Shake A Paw for all my supplies for my little one, because he makes it so easy to get exactly what I need for her. Shake A Paw is blessed to have him as an employee and I/we are blessed to have him in our lives as a part of our family. Thank you Chris from the bottom of our hearts. Keep up the good work. PS, my son also purchased a puppy over the past year and Chris was there to help him also.

Best pet store I've ever been to. Last Monday, 5/15, was our second time visiting this Shake a Paw. My boyfriend, son and I went in to get some new fish for our fish tank. She helped us pick out a new filter, which is still working great. She told us which fish we could get and mix with the ones we had, as well as which ones we shouldn't. She was very polite and professional.
The fish are much healthier than the last time we got some from PetSmart; which didn't last very long. Our tank is still thriving. We also went to see some puppies. I was told puppy (13 week old cavalier King Charles spaniel) was on ** as treatment for kennel cough. I was advised they would bring him to vet for ok for sale. They refused stating he had not coughed for over 36 hours. Two and a half days after sale he was admitted for treatment of pneumonia, worms, and parasites with 5 days of iv antibiotics, nebulizer and three diarrhea meds. Not surprisingly, they refuse to release his medical records to me. Weeks of diligent home care are now necessary to return him to health.

We were looking for a specific type of puppy and Shake a Paw was one of the pet stores that was within our area that had it. So we went to their Hicksville location and the store was very clean and well-kept. We got a Cavapoo, he's delicious and we love him. The reps also gave us all the stuff that we would need to care for him and provided a full week's worth of vet care after the purchase of the dog. They did a nice job and we had a really good experience. As a matter of fact, we're looking into getting another dog from them. I know that their reputation is not the same as the experience that we had but because of the reputation, we felt that we should do our due diligence with our puppy after purchasing it. We brought him right away to the vet to make sure everything was okay with him and that he was healthy.

I adopted a dog from a friend and they got the dog from Shake a Paw Puppies. I was looking for a rescue dog of the same breed which is not that common, so I checked with them if they had any. When I went over there, I liked what I saw in terms of the environment. The dogs were in open pens there. The puppies can be seen in a more natural environment amongst themselves playing and frolicking. Even the ones that were enclosed and in smaller containers, they were clean and well-maintained and the animals looked to be in good health and in good condition. All of their eyes were clear, they didn't spit and there was no smell even when you took the mouth. The animals looking healthy was an indication of having maintained it off-hours as well. My neighbors who have young dogs got their dogs there too and they also had very good things to say.
The staff was extremely helpful, not pushy. They were feeling me out as much as I was looking at the dogs and feeling them out as well. They asked very good questions to get a sense of how I would be as a pet owner and what my experience trouble would be. I was very pleased with the fact that they were questioning me as well. They want to make sure that she got a good home.
They would make suggestions based upon what my lifestyle was and needs for and what I was looking for in terms of a family member of an animal species. They gave me guidance as she got older what her food and needs would be or recommended based on their experience. In addition, the pens were constantly being cleaned while I was there - people mopping the floor and wiping it down. They have attendants there and as soon as one of the animal pets gone to the bath and they were in there changing the paper.
Almost all of the people that worked there are big time animal lovers with multiple dogs or animals in their own household. They shared their best practice tips and different things. A lot of them do training on the side. Even though I didn't engage enough with training, they offered that guidance free just upon having conversations with them. I got that sense from everyone that I dealt with. They were all very engaged and they always ask about the dog. My dog's name is Betty White, an American Eskimo, and they always remembered her name and who I was. They all enjoyed what they do.
They also gave a recommendation about the vet that they work with and they were selective. They didn't just choose anybody. I love the vet so much and I've been using my other vet for over 30 years. I'm now using this vet. The vet said that he sees a lot of dogs from that location that are all in good condition. He said that my dog is another one from that location that didn't come to him with Kennel cough which dogs can get so easily from everywhere. Also, when you get the dog, you get the first three months of free vet visits and the follow-up shots.
The puppy is a year old and she has quite a personality. She's a very happy and well-adjusted dog. I've gone back there since the original purchase for the food and various other items like leashes. They offered a full-service pet store with items that as your dog grows you'd find helpful. I needed to get bigger harnesses and they helped fit the dog with the proper size and also one that would best meet her in entry levels.

Last week In September I went in Shake A Paw and fell in love with my fur baby. When we were about to start paperwork I noticed he had a little cough and snots. They said they had to keep him until he was vet approved to leave. On October 6th they called me. He was cleared to go home. I went with my son and fill out paperwork. I told them I had my own vet. I was told fine. If any issues bring in the bills and they want them in then send me a check.
When I was almost home the puppy sneezed to where green snots came out of his nose. By the evening I had to rush him to the vet. He was coughing up foam and dry heaving. His nose was so filled of snots. He was eating fine and going to the bathroom. No issues. I left spending over 400. I called the store and spoke to James. How he's a manager is beyond me. He yelled at me and pretty much blamed it on me. He said I have to use their vet otherwise they don't do anything. I told him I signed a paper saying that in 14 days I have to take the puppy to the vet and they have to reimburse me the charges. James kept cutting me off and talking over me telling me when a dog leave they get sick. I told him "he got sick within 15mins?" I said "you sent him home really sick." And he said my vet who I have used for 6 plus years is wrong and lying to me. My pet is fine.
I said I'm sending in the bills and I expect a check with my refund. After all my puppy was sick. He's 13 weeks old and I paid over 3500. Now my puppy is more sick and got my other dogs really sick to where they are hospitalized. The puppy has not got better at all. I went to the vet for his check up and they have to change his meds and almost had to stay overnight. Only reason he's not is because he's still eating. His X-rays show how filled his chest is with fluid. He's now on 3 meds along with a breathing treatment every 4 hours. I came home and called but James was not available and I spoke to Anthony who at first thought he was nice but turned nasty just like James.
I explained everything saying how I paid over 1000 in vet bills within 3 weeks and now I have 2 very sick dogs. He told me it's not his issue. "Vet tell you what they want." Their vets tell the truth pretty much and if I don't use their vet oh well. I told him that's not true. I read the contract and the person I did paperwork with said my vet was fine to use. I don't want to use a random vet that I don't know and on top of that as I read reviews it's James' family member that the vet. I called the "Corporate Office" but they can't handle hicksville issues. They just know they get a lot of calls about these issues.
How can a business do this to people? First I was overcharged and I accepted that because I fell in love with this puppy and so did my kids. They don't stand by their word and when there is an issue they want to put the blame on you. I get when dogs are mixed they will get sick but if he was still sick they should have not let them go home. Now I spent about 5000 and we don't know if my dog is going to make it. On top of that my other bulldog is very ill and not getting better. They need to be shut down. My next step is a lawyer and they will pay for everything.

She’s at least seven and a half to eight pounds. She’s healthy and her name is Bailey. We got her when she was just four months old.
Their Lynbrook location is clean and since we bought her, they’ve redone the store so it’s even nicer now. Their consultants were all helpful and knowledgeable. If one didn’t have the answer, they would go to the other to find the answer, which I thought was nice instead of giving us a fake answer. Every time we need a new toy we go there. I used to live in Plainview and all my kids would always go there just to say hello to all the puppies. Now, they're all grown up and I wanted another one. The store was very, very clean and they took care of everything like when one of the dogs made a mess, they were there cleaning it up. It was very nice and the dog is clean. We could tell when we took the dog out that the dogs were very much taken cared of. Overall, they were very friendly, accommodating and a really all around sweet experience.

Shake A Paw is A++. I've been in Oceanside for 50 years and I know of them, and a couple of my friends got dogs there too. My white Goldendoodle puppy was three and a half months when I bought her at the Lynbrook location. The store was clean, the dogs were well taken care of, the salespeople were fabulous, and they groomed the dog before I took it home. There was a lot of people in there too.

Shake a Paw Puppies in Hicksville was closer to us. We went there and they're great. The guy that helped us recommended what was going to be perfect for our kids. We got two puppies, the first one is a Yorkie and the second one is a Poodle. The puppies are healthy and they're good.

About three weeks ago, I got a white and beige colored puppy from the Shake A Paw Puppies Hicksville location. Everything was pretty good. Although it was disappointing that the products for the puppy were for 15 or 20 ounces and above while the puppy is only 4 pounds. But still, everything else was excellent.

I have a very good experience with Shake a Paw. It's local to where I live, and we were looking for a puppy. We visited before but did not buy puppies, and later on, we happen to stop there, found the type of puppy that we want, and purchased her. She's a Havanese Shih Tzu mix and was four or five months when we've had her. The Hicksville store was very good and looks wonderful. My only complaint was that they were expensive. Otherwise, the person who helped us and sold us the dog seemed like an expert. He used to be a trainer. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and accommodating. He has a good personality and did the best he could do which I appreciate.

I lived a couple of minutes from the Hicksville, Shake A Paw store and their store is very clean. I buy all my supplies there. I had one or two of the dogs from them, they had a little cold there and they were good. We went to the vet and it was all taken care of. I got my fifth dog from there and I’ve had a good experience with them. The people that work there are friendly, knowledgeable, take their time to try and help you out. I’m happy with them. They're nice people.

I bought my first dog from Marc at Shake A Paw in Lynbrook many years ago. And by the time he was 4 months old, he won his first ribbon in the show ring. Now I am not saying that Shake A Paw dogs are all show quality, but the fact is, they are not being sold as show quality. My Akita passed away at the ripe old age of 14 and was a great dog since day 1. Next I bought my Golden Retriever from him a few years ago. He was not show quality but he was always healthy and beautiful. I have read other reviews. My dog was sick... etc. So here is the kicker. I bought my female from the top breeder in the United States; knowing I wanted to breed her, and I paid ten grand for her. Her parents were national champions, so I figured she had to be worth the money. There were four out of eight pups left in the litter when I chose her at three weeks old. I brought her home at 10 weeks. By twelve weeks I was back at the vet, paying a ton of money.
When I contacted the breeder, they refused to cover anything. They said she is mine now, therefore my responsibility. Five years ago when my sister wanted a dog for my niece and nephews, I went back to Marc to get them one. Now granted, I am a professional trainer and I also do dog boarding in my home, and I trained her and worked with her, but she is now a certified TDI dog (Therapy Dogs International) and works as a service dog for one of my nephews who is special needs. I highly recommend them over at Shake A Paw. The place is always clean, and the staff cares about the dogs and their customers.
Do pups get sick? Absolutely! Especially when people think the place is a petting zoo to entertain their kids, and want to take out every pup just to play. Would a human baby fare so well if people constantly woke it up from a dead sleep just to play? I think not. Sorry rant over. Just frustrates me when I go to the store for supplies or whatever, and see it going on and those are the same people who come online and want to bash the store with bad reviews. I have never had anything but positive interactions with the staff at the store, and therefore, will continue to recommend them to my clients, family and friends.
