    I’ve submitted 19 claims for meds purchased through 1800PetMeds over the past 14 months without an issue. Until last month. Now Healthy Paws won’t process claims if the invoice is from 1800PetMeds and they aren’t disclosing what the issue is with the invoices. I’m wondering if they’re doing this on purpose because my dog is older and has a lot of claims. I guess they think if they stall on the claims and don’t reimburse me, I won’t be able to pay for his treatments and he’ll die sooner. Healthy Paws used to be a good company but since they were bought out, their services have gone downhill.

    I have been a customer for over a decade. The process to file claims has always been fast and easy. Repayment has always been pretty quick (a week is slow for them). What is really remarkable is how easy things were when going to multiple vets to discover my dog has cancer. The expensive tests and procedures to determine them at one vet, radiation therapy at another vet, and chemotherapy at another vet. All of this was easy to file and reimbursed without any fighting. I wish people's health insurance was as good and easy as this. Over the years too my dog has had other issues and as promised the rates have not increased due to incidents.

    Overall, my experience with Healthy Paws insurance has been a positive one. Everything has been pretty simple to use and very clear understanding. Only one time did I have an issue with a mistake on my claim but once I made a phone call the individual had it resolved within a couple days.     I have had Healthy Paws for YEARS. In the past I have rated them 5/5 and had claims processed quickly and any issues handled swiftly. Customer service was second to none. Until my pet passed away.... My dog passed away on the 16th of the month, I notified HP right away. I filed a claim for the cremation expenses, as covered by her medical condition. They still took out my premium on the 21st and have not processed my claim. I understand that things happen - however my communications with them have been less than helpful. The first time I emailed, they said it would be taken care of in a timely manner. 7 days go by, so I call customer service. They proceed to tell me that my claim will be processed on the 25th and my account will be closed and they will refund my premium.

    On the 26th I called back and and the gentleman on the other end of the phone proceeds to tell me that no one should have said that and that, "There are a 'lot of other sick dogs' so we will process your request as soon as possible." I have been really nice in my communication with them, as I know things happen but this is a little ridiculous at this point. I also felt it was a little insensitive to say that my claim was being held up because there are a 'lot of other sick dogs'. I really expected better, Healthy Paws... You were a big part of helping us when we needed it. Now I feel like we don't matter because you're not going to get a monthly premium from us anymore.

    So far, I am very pleased with Healthy Paws Pet Insurance. My puppy, unfortunately, was diagnosed with copper storage disease, and has required more extensive testing and care than would typically be expected.     I have had Healthy Paws since 2017 and have had only a positive experience with them. My dog, Faith, was a rescue and came from an abusive situation at just 6 months. Unfortunately as she’s grown older (she’s turning 7 this year) from the trauma and abuse she experienced, she has needed surgeries which were all covered and I never once felt as though my claims would be denied or there would be any issue getting them processed. Communicating with customer service has always been great and I always recommend Healthy Paws to anyone who is adopting a new family member.

    This is the first time I have ever had pet insurance. I’ve had dogs my entire adulthood. I now have three active purebred dogs ranging in age from three to down to nine months. All of my dogs have been adopted or fostered. For some reason after I adopted second one, when the veterinarian asked me if I had pet insurance, and I said, no, I went home and started researching. All of my other dogs have been quiet toy breeds, but these three are pretty wild and crazy. I always thought pet insurance was kind of a waste of money to be honest. I had heard some stories in which pet insurance just didn’t really pay anything or that there was a huge deductible, etc. When I got home from the vet, I started doing some research and landed on Healthy Paws Pet Insurance because of the deductible, premiums and no lifetime maximums.

    Not long after this we decided to foster a puppy. She appeared to be healthy and perfect. But after we had her for a few weeks it was clear she was having some issue. I took her to my vet who sent her to a specialist. She had have surgery. We were devastated. Not only were we so worried about our puppy, but we were worried about the money. Never have I been so grateful as I have been for Healthy Paws! They paid our claim so quickly and it was so easy. I just uploaded the receipt and the doctor's note online and they sent me a check about three days later! I cannot say enough good things about them.     I have a Healthy Paws policy that reimburses 90% of covered expenses after a $500 deductible. My dog ingested something that caused a blockage in his intestines and nearly killed him. It required the services of an internal medicine specialist who performed surgery and was able to remove the blockage. He had multiple complications and was hospitalized for nearly a week. Ultimately, the charges were over $22k. Healthy Paws reimbursed me for 90% of the covered expenses, just like it was supposed to work. If I didn't have Healthy Paws, I would not have been able to afford the care I needed. The company was very responsive throughout the process and the reimbursement is in my bank account before my credit card bill is due.

    This company is the worse. I had nothing bad to say about them until my dog actually needed their insurance. My dog is nearly 12 years old. I have used the insurance a couple of times for minor things (cut paw, etc.) for over 10 YEARS. My dog needed emergency surgery due to crystals that had formed in his bladder and plugged his urethra. He would have died without it. He had to stay in the ICU for 2 days and then 1 more day for observation. Everything cost approximately $6000. I have their 90% coverage and paid $600 for the service.

    I was very happy that I had the insurance and that they were easy to work with and reimbursed me quickly. I wasn't so happy when I received an email 6 weeks later telling me my monthly premium was increasing by more than TRIPLE. When I complained they sent me a canned email explaining how vet costs had increased in my area and it was necessary. I sucked it up and decided to stay with them, especially after paying them for over 10 years. A few months ago I was in CA with my dog and my dog became ill. We ended up going to an emergency vet. The cost for treatment was around $1500. Healthy Paws reimbursed me with no problems. I came to the conclusion that I made the right decision to stick with them.

    However, today I received the EXACT SAME email that they sent me last year that vet expenses in my area had significantly increased and that my premium was going up another $100. The bottom line is that they're great to work with as long as you only need the insurance for MINOR problems. Now that my dog is a senior, they know he is going to start needing their insurance and are quickly making it unaffordable. I absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND Healthy Paws. Go with insurance that states, in writing, that your premium will not increase.

    Healthy Paws Pet Insurance is worth it. It is not that expensive per month and really comes in handy. My 1 year old puppy was very sick, and after numerous trips to the vet and emergency vet room, we found out she would need life saving surgery to remove something from her small intestines. What would have costed us ~$14,000 only ended up costing us ~$3,000. Not only is it worth it for saving money, but the support we received from all who helped was phenomenal. They assisted us fanatic pet owners in submitting our claims properly and fixing what we needed to fix. The claims came through a lot quicker than expected (a few days or a weeks vs a couple months like we expected). After all was said and done, there was a follow up email asking how our dog was doing. They also even checked in on our other two pets. It wasn’t an automated message, but from a real human. That aspect alone makes it worth it. I HIGHLY recommend.

    HIGHLY Recommend!! I have had Healthy Paws for both my cats for 3 years now. I find it very easy to submit claims online to them and their response is very quick for processing and reimbursement. If there is ever an issue or question with the invoice I submit, they reach out right away and it is solved very quickly. They have been extremely helpful and useful throughout my cats lives especially with my Sphynx who has had many unexpected health problems.

    They have covered all of it (according to the plan and policy). Not only all this, but they also reached out personally when they saw my cat stayed in the emergency room overnight to see how he was doing.     If it wasn't for the fact both my dogs have health problems, I'd be switching. They have jacked up my rates so much in the last 4 years. Based off of the insurance needs in my living area.     I was very excited to finally have a dog of my own when I brought home Hercules in January of 2022.     I got pet insurance knowing that I never wanted to make the choice between my dog's health and my finances. Healthy Paws has been so easy to submit claims, quick to send out reimbursements, and coverage was easy to understand. While my monthly premium has gone up (close to double over the almost 6 years of coverage), it has definitely been worth it! Just recently my dog needed TPLO surgery for a torn CCL, which cost nearly $6,000. We were reimbursed at 90% less than 1 week after submitting the claim, with no confusion as to what was covered and no effort beyond submitting the vet's invoice! Even with the monthly premium where it is, it would've taken 8 years to match the cost of that surgery, so it has definitely been worth it! I highly recommend them!

    Boudreaux, 3 1/2 years old, is our 5th golden retriever over the past 40 years. We never purchased pet insurance before this one. The reason, our previous golden developed Osteosarcoma at age 8 and required hospitalization and an amputation - very expensive and heartbreaking. He died 6 months later - way too young. We got Boudreaux as a pup and signed him up for Healthy Paws Pet Insurance. When he was about 4 months old, he developed a bowel obstruction from eating kelp during a trip to the beach. He required emergency surgery which saved his life. The Healthy Paws online claim process was efficient and clearly delineated. Just 3 weeks ago he became lethargic and developed a fever.

    Turns out, despite being on Simparica, he had anaplasmosis, a tick-borne disease that caused his platelet count to drop precipitously to life-threatening levels. Because we had insurance, we didn't hesitate to take him in, and good thing we did when we did. He was accurately diagnosed and responded promptly to treatment. Again - Healthy Paws came through. We received a check in the mail just 5 days after the claim was submitted online. Not only that, but we received an email inquiring about his health. We couldn't be more pleased. We highly recommend not only having pet insurance for your beloved pet, but using Healthy Paws. Without insurance, we might have waited too long to take our boy in.

    After having Healthy paws for 5 years without much of a need for them, my dog began having spinal issues and IVDD surgery twice which I was billed $9k each time! The first time expensing it to Healthy Paws was a little bit of an effort since they do need the official full historical report from your vet before paying anything out. However, the second time was seamless--I had made 5 easy claims up to the point of the surgery and they quickly paid me out each time, all they need is the official invoices.

    Something important things to be mindful of that may result in disappointment--but I think these are the case with any pet insurance:

    1. As far as I know--they do NOT COVER PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS, hence the need for the full medical report before they begin paying out. In our case, they paid out every claim that wasn't a pre-existing issue without issue.

    2. There is a deductible that resets once a year before they cover anything, as well as a % they'll pay after you hit that--but you choose that deductible and the % that pays out.

    3. They DO NOT COVER VISITATION FEES, and they make this very clear. So, you may go to a vet 5 times racking up quite the visitation feeds that aren't covered, but they'll cover any treatment & tests beyond that.

    4. Once you make a claim, you can't change your plan, so you're either locked in, or go somewhere else that won't cover any new pre-existing conditions that occurred.

    Outside of these, Healthy Paws really has great customer service on the phone every time I've called, and they've paid out quite quickly and efficiently on every claim.

    Horrible experience. My pet has had that insurance for 3 years+ and I have never had to file a claim. Had to take her to an emergency clinic because I though she swallowed something and it got stocked in her throat. After all the procedures they did and $5000.00 later she had Laryngitis. Very swollen red throat and had her on steroids and antibiotics. When I sent the bill to the claims dept they kept asking for more information from her regular vet. When you get insurance thru them you have to submit that she did not have a previous condition to get the insurance which I submitted.

    Now they want proof that this virus she contacted was not from a previous condition which is not. So I told them all I had was the invoices of her vaccinations from the last 3 years because she has never been sick. I provided them with her vets information (My Vet at Home) Dr Suzette ** and I was told me they would verify it thru Dr **. Nothing has been done and they are saying they need medical records stating no previous condition. I also called the CEO Rob Jackson and called him twice and left my contact cell # and response from him either. I am a recent widow on a tight budget, I hope this review helps!     I have been with Healthy Paws for many years. My dog is 12 years old and has been insured since she was one year old. The various policies have been bought and sold between companies and we ended up with Healthy Paws many years ago. Two months ago I received an email that my premiums would double from approximately $75 to $150 a month. I see this as a convenient way to price owners out of the market when their pets get older. Notwithstanding they had no problem taking my money for the other years and then simply price you out when you get to the place in time when you are more likely to use the policy. Pretty unethical and shameful if you ask me.

Healthy Paws does require that you pay the vet bill up front, then submit the claim with all the required information and payment receipt, but Healthy Paws has always processed my claims promptly, and within the rules of the policy.     Healthy Paws has not been my first pet insurance company so I do have some experience in the past with other insurance companies. Healthy Paws in my opinion is good with their customer service. They process your claims expeditiously, accurate and efficiently. Although monthly premiums can be high, it all depends on how much deductible you are comfortable with and set the reimbursement level for your claims. This will be calculated to how much your monthly fees are. It's quite customable! My only dislike is that eventually the monthly fees do rise but it's somewhat understandable.     I am so grateful to have chosen Healthy Paws as my dog's insurance policy company. My dog started to limp at a very young age and a few months after extensive imaging was diagnosed with Elbow Dysplasia and needed to get surgery. Healthy Paws and their customer service was and continues to be absolutely impeccable. They always review the claims within 2-3 days, keep you updated with every step of the process, and will let you know once the claim has been reviewed and completed.

    The reimbursement checks are sent out within 2 days of reviewal and completion of claims. They are quick, efficient, and very professional. I wouldn't have been capable to afford the all of the medical bills if I didn't have Healthypaws. One CT scan was close to ~ $1,800, not to mention x-rays, medications, Rehab! Having a sick/injured pet is extremely stressful, and even though all pet owners want to provide their fur companions with the best care, finance is a concern when the bills begin to add up to multiple thousands. Knowing that I had Healthypaws, made it so I had one less thing to worry about. I didn't have to worry about waiting for months before getting the reimbursements, I could provide my fur baby with the proper medical care he needed and I can't thank Healthypaws enough for that.

    The only con I feel the need to mention is that there's no regulations in regards to premium change, our monthly premium went from ~ $37 a month to ~$51 a month in 2 years (my dog is 2 years 1/2 years old), there's no telling how high the premium can/will increase. In summary, Healthypaws is an insurance company you won't regret getting.

    As a veterinarian, I would absolutely not recommend this company to anyone. The claims process is as inefficient as it possibly can be; each time I have made a claim, I have had to submit the records three to four times in addition to having my veterinarian submit the records separately. This is a waste of my time and my veterinarian's. The company only communicates with automated emails and do not provide any information specific to my needs. The customer service staff is surprisingly incompetent and incredibly challenging to reach via email or phone. The pricing is unreasonable compared to other insurance companies. I would strongly encourage any pet owner to purchase insurance from another company.

    Healthy Paws is quick with their paperwork and turnaround time. Sadly, after year three, you will begin to see MASSIVE INCREASES $$ in their premiums. Each year after that you can expect to see more added. 6 years ago I was at $34 per month, as of next month it will be $65. I have had two minor claims that were paid for by my deductible. There is no regulation and these people will just get you in, then as your beast starts to age, you won't want to pull out. It is manipulative and quite unfair. But I can't start over somewhere else.

    My German Shepherd Cash has been covered by Healthy Paws for over 6 years now. They have been a great company for years, paying for his monthly allergy medication, etc. Clams have always been paid quickly and fully - based on our coverage. But recently, Cash got very ill with pancreatitis. He was at our vet 2-3 times getting fluids, and tests to determine what was wrong. He had to go to a specialty emergency animal hospital for 3 nights - getting more and more tests, IVs, feeding tube, ultrasounds, etc. We almost lost him and it was so stressful for us. It was very expensive and we had to keep authorizing funds daily.

    I would recommend Healthy Paws to furry baby parents who are looking for good insurance or thinking of getting one. I got my Bichon puppy from an AKC heart-rated breeder and expected him to be healthy. I did the internet search for pet insurance and chose healthy paws when he was 3-month. Now he is 2-year and is diagnosed with luxation patella. A surgery fix was suggested by the vet and the cost was around 3K. I can't tell you how frustrated I'm to hear this news. I did a lot of work to find a well-rated breeder and chose the almost most expensive one, but my baby still suffers from a health problem.

    I talked to the breeder and she said this puppy was the first sick one in her 30+ years of experience. I couldn't tell if she said the truth, but anyway, the accident could happen and I'm grateful that I enrolled my baby in the insurance when he was young so this accident was covered. Going through surgery with your pet is super tough, it's even tougher than getting the surgery on yourself both physically and mentally as well as economically, and the insurance now plays an important role and makes sure you don't need to "give up" therapy due to budget.

    The reimbursement process of healthy paws is very fast, my first claim was processed using around 1 week, and my later claims were processed using 3 days. They also don't increase premiums a lot when your pet gets older compared to other insurance. If you're thinking of enrolling your pet, just do it as early as possible since the insurance doesn't cover pre-existing conditions. There's only 15 days waiting period which is short compared to other insurances.

    Healthy Paws has been nothing short of amazing for our dog Teddy. This was our first pet we had insured and it was mainly only done due to hip dysplasia worries. We enrolled him as soon as we got him in 2015. Teddy is an Akita/German Shepherd mix and past experiences with dogs that big have always had arthritis and hip issues down the road. So we enrolled him in 2015 on the 90% coverage, $100 annual deductible plan. It has been a literal lifesaver for him and our family and likely one of the best decisions I have ever made in my life.

    I tried Figo Pet Insurance with 2 of my other dogs and they have been nothing but headaches and drama dealing with 1 of my dogs who sadly passed due to osteosarcoma spreading to his spine. They take weeks and weeks to look at your claims and in his case it was usually almost always denied or with a problem. Sometimes they would cover bloodwork, sometimes they didn't. It was crazy, a nightmare to deal with and I highly recommend everyone avoid Figo at all costs.

    HealthyPaws has never had that sort of problem. They have covered little things like UTIs, monthly glucosamine shots and antibiotic meds. But they also have covered MAJOR life-threatening things without any issues for Teddy. Teddy had a mast cell tumor removed from his chest in fall of 2017 after adopting him. Every penny of that bill which was over $3,000 was covered with no issues at all. In fact, only ONE time in roughly 100 claims have I ever had a issue and all it took was a simple phone call for that to be resolved. The turnaround times are very reasonable and fast, never takes more than a week or two tops.

    In June 2022, Teddy started having severe neurological signs and a brain tumor was suspected. To make a very long story short, he ended up having to have stereotactic radiation and chemo. This is certainly not cheap, his bill was roughly $15,000. HealthyPaws paid EVERY single penny of it except the usual things they do not cover (exam fees etc). I was reimbursed for 90% of that entire bill. They even emailed me to check and see how he was doing. They just spent over 13k on Teddy and still care enough about him to see how he was doing. HealthyPaws is amazing and I won't even consider another pet insurance company moving forward.

    He gets his bloodwork checked almost every week now, monthly chemo meds and other meds. All of this is covered without issue and pet owners know how expensive weekly blood tests can be. HealthyPaws is AMAZING, I cannot stress this enough. I have already recruited a friend to enroll their new puppy with them and I hope this review can help others make the proper choice here also. Teddy is thus far doing as well and roughly 90% of his former self. Our family and Teddy owes this all to the wonderful care he got from the doctors but also HealthyPaws. I will never use another pet insurance provider, HealthyPaws care of Teddy has made me a fan for life.

    Find another pet insurance company. The facts on their website are wrong. They state they cover diagnostic testing and prescriptions, but I just had two claims denied for both of these things. I asked why and emailed FOUR TIMES with no response. They only stated that "exam fees are not covered." Well... testing and prescriptions should be according to their site. The only way to get a response from this joke of a company is to open a BBB complaint. This company is a waste of money and a scam! They do not make good on their policy agreements and will find any reason to deny your claim. I have opened three claims and my experience was the same for all three - I only got a response AFTER I opened a BBB complaint on them.

    DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE AS ME. DO NOT GO WITH HEALTHY PAWS! Claim numbers ** and **. Both claims have things that should be covered under the policy. Both claims were denied. No emails answered when asking for an explanation. A second BBB complaint has been opened. This company is NOT worth the hassle.

    Please, if you care about your pet's health, do not use this company. I've been going back and forth with them for two months trying to get reimbursed for my dog's pneumonia bills.     Our 4 year old beagle somehow hurt his neck. A herniated disc pressing on his spine. We tried medication but it did not work. He was in absolute agony. On the advice of our vet Tom ** we took him to see a neurosurgeon at Blue Pearl Vet. He had surgery and is back to normal. The cost of the surgery was $7553. Our policy with Healthy Pet paid 80%.     I have had Healthy Paws for about 6 years. I have 2 Goldendoodles. Every time I have had a claim, large or small, they review and pay it out within days. No hassles. No denials. My youngest pup ate a toy a couple of weeks ago and had to have it removed at the ER. Final bill was around $4k, and I was reimbursed 90% of that (less my deductible) within about 5 days. I can’t say enough good things about them. Get when your pup is young, though. Made the mistake of waiting until my 2nd pup was almost a year old, and because he has already had an ear infection, any subsequent ear/skin infections are considered pre-existing and aren’t covered. Worth it to get them enrolled early.

    Because of claim **. I signed up with Healthy Paws many years ago for two of my dogs where I paid monthly to make sure that they were covered. I never had to use the insurance until last year or so with my first dog. They made it incredibly difficult to get reimbursed. They want your entire pet's medical history from the time they joined your family, which I wished they had told me this when I signed up. So if you don't have it. it will become a nightmare. Prepare to never get things resolved! You can email them a hundred times and you probably won't get an email back, or you will get one that doesn't relate to your questions or concern. It's really sad.

    Recently, I had to go through this AGAIN with my next dog. It is a nightmare that still has not gotten resolved to the point where I plan to take legal action. I first started by filing a claim. After knowing what I know when I filed a claim for my other dog the first time, I made sure to send them emails (Claim ** to claims@healthypawspetinsurance.com AND help@healthypawspetinsurance.com) to explain the situation from last time and to prevent it from happening again. I included all the medical history that I had on hand AND a timeline of all the vets that my pet had visited including the phone numbers AND addresses in case they want to follow up with the veterinary clinics themselves (in case they needed more).

    I can bet 100% that they did not read this email or any other emails of me asking for an update until I called in to talk to Jennifer. She was nice and helpful but, and said that I will not get automatic emails anymore asking for medical history... moments later, I got another one. It's just sad. I figured I will wait a few days. They closed out my claim stating that they will not reimburse anything (Explanation of Benefit). I had emailed asking if they can educate me on why none of it was reimbursed. Someone responded a few days later saying they were missing medical records... OH MY LORD... I don't know how many times I have sent it over to them. NO ONE BOTHERS READING ANYTHING. They ignore it until they can close out your claim and not have to pay you back a dime! To me, that's fraud. I called in and this time, I spoke with Sharon, and she said they are going to reopen my claim and that they have all the records on hand. Still... nothing...

    The staff are not doing their jobs. No one reads anything, cares about anything, or know what is going on. So if you are looking for insurance for your pets, please please please do not get pet insurance through Healthy Paws and look elsewhere. I plan to seek legal action. At the end of the day, the amount they owe to me is practically junk change, but it's the principle of it and I want to hold them accountable even if legal fees surpass what they would owe me.

    I have had insurance with Healthy Paws since 2018. Be warned, your rates will go up and up and up even if you never file a claim. I would estimate I have had approximately 8 increases since 2018 (it is 2022), and my rate has about doubled. For the first time in 2022 I had to file a claim. What a mess. The incompetence of this company is beyond any I have experienced. They are trying every way to deny the claim. I had to send all vet records of my dog, even from prior to having this insurance as they searched for a pre-existing condition, (obviously this underwriting was already done when we first got the insurance).

    I had to send all records several times because they didn't receive them or lost them. They have tried to process 1/2 the claim and then hold the other 1/2 until my policy deductible reset! It has been a nightmare and the claim is under $1000.00! As I write I am currently on hold for 28 minutes. I have filed two complaints with the State Insurance Department! This company is about 1 thing, MAKING $$$

    I was a client of Healthy Paws Pet Insurance from 2019 till recently. When it came time for me to submit valid claims, I was given an extreme run around about information. I submitted ALL requested documentation for my Toy Pomeranian, was told they didn't have everything and would close out the claim if they didn't receive the requested medical records. I contacted customer service. The 1st representative I spoke with told me that I didn't need to be concerned that was just an automatic email that was sent while my information was under review. Well, my claims were closed. I called back, spoke with another representative for 45 minutes, after going over everything in detail my claims were reopened. Only for them to reject them again for not having the complete set of Medical Records.

    Very Poor Customer Service, and scammers. I called a 3rd time and spoke with another representative who convinced that she would be able to submit my claims for at least 50% return if I agreed to make so that my policy was now starting from this new date of 2022, which would make all previous claims list as pre-existing conditions. So the 1st claims was rejected. The 2nd which I should've received reimbursement for, in turn they said my policy was being renewed, my fees were increasing and now the money I should've received was going to applied to my deductible. This was an extreme scam, I never saw a dime of my money. Everyting went right back into their pockets. I strongly advise not signing up with Healthy Paws Insurance.

    It’s very clear from my experience with Healthy Paws that they are more than just an insurance company. They do what you expect: processing claims quickly, paying claim amounts that you’re entitled to under your policy, and sending payments quickly. But beyond that, it’s evident that they care about you and your pet as more than just a policy number. They have sent me personalized follow up to check in about how my dog is doing after an injury or surgery, and when our second dog passed away last year and they saw that we put in a claim for the ER bill when he was euthanized, they sent me a heartfelt condolence letter and even checked in a few weeks later to see how we were doing after losing our pet.

    My dog Daisy was in need of ACL surgery after giving her a month with medication in hopes she’d get better on her own but did not happen.     I had been enrolled in Healthy Paws pet insurance since I adopted my dog Polly from the shelter in 2018. In all of that time, I had never needed it, but continued on. A few weeks ago, our sweet girl started to show bruising all over her belly and groin. She had developed a life-threatening auto-immune disease called ITP and had to be in the emergency vet ICU for several days. While there, in order to get her platelet count up, and save her from spontaneous internal bleeding, she was treated with chemo drugs and other medications that saved her life.

    If I had not had Healthy Paws, there was no way I could afford it. I honestly was worried that maybe it wouldn't be covered or something, because it seemed to good to be true that it would be.     I've had Healthy Paws for my Jack Russell Terrier (JRT) since 2015, basically when he was almost a year old. They have always been fair and processed claims quickly.     I highly recommend Healthy Paws Pet Insurance!!! I have been a customer of Healthy Paws for 10 years, insuring my dog and 3 house cats over this period. I have always gotten great service. My dog has idiopathic epilepsy diagnosed in his second year. Recently, one of my 6 year old cats required medical care and hospitalizations for 2 life-threatening conditions, seemingly unrelated, that occurred about a month apart. The second illness required 6 days of 24/7 care in an emergency clinic in addition to multiple follow-up visits and testing with my veterinarian.

    Without my young cat's Healthy Paws Insurance coverage, we would not have been able to do all we could to help him survive when there was any possibility of treating his condition.     I’m so pleased with the service that I received from Healthy Paws insurance and I highly recommend this company. I selected Healthy Paws insurance six years ago when I brought home a new puppy.     My dog had two TPLO surgeries in a year and a half. I chose a plan with 80% reimbursement. The plan covered the surgery, meds and rehab expenses including acupuncture.     I'm very pleased with my experience! I have to admit I was skeptical about insuring my cats at all as they're usually pretty low maintenance after their kitten phase.     I have been using Healthy Paws since I adopted my first cat in 2018, and they always provide the quickest response and claim processing. All you need to do is to provide the invoice and the medical records that you get from the vet. They usually process within 10 days, and if you have provided enough documents, there would be no back and forth on the coverage.     I work for the largest corporate veterinary hospital in the US and as a perk, they subsidize the cost of Trupanion for four pets. Well, as most others in the animal industry know, sometimes you own more than four...     I cannot say enough good things about Healthy Paws. We have had 3 French Bulldogs and knowing the issues they tend to have we were advised by our vet to get pet insurance. I cannot recall what initially made us choose Healthy Paws, but I am so glad we did! The submission process is simple, the reimbursement is quick and every employee we have ever dealt with has always been a pleasure. We have been through some rough times regarding health issues with our melonheads and Healthy Paws has always made things a bit easier and less stressful, knowing that we didn't have to worry about financial concerns when doing whatever was needed to care for our four legged sons. Our first major issue sold us for life with Healthy paws.

    Our first Frenchie, Rommel, was stricken with encephalitis when he was less than a year and a half old. He went from being a happy, healthy puppy to passing away in just two weeks. He was the love of our lives and as you can imagine, we were completely devastated. We were prepared to do whatever it took to save him, but it was not to be. We racked up about $15,000 in bills trying to save his life and at that point had not really needed to use our pet insurance so we were not sure what to expect. I submitted the bills to Healthy Paws and within a week or so we were reimbursed 90%, no hassles, no red tape, no runarounds. It really helped not having to deal with any insurance issues while struggling to accept our sweet boy was gone in the blink of an eye.

    I've heard horror stories from other friends with different pet insurance and couldn't imagine dealing with that on top of grieving as we were at the time. But that isn't even the part that really sold us! About a week after he passed, I finally got around to calling Healthy Paws to cancel his policy.     I've used Healthy Paws for about 3 years, during that time I've contacted their customer service department 2 times and each time they were extremely rude and dismissive. In less than a year they raised their prices over 30% without contacting me or changing the policy. Their explanation was "Other people are using the insurance in your area so they are raising the premiums." When compared with other insurance agencies, I would say Healthy Paws has been by far the most frustrating.

    Our Sugar-Bear is an American Akita. Last summer he tore his ACL and dislocated his knee cap so he required surgery.     I want to share my positive experience for the past 9 years having 2 small Havanese fur babies. Periodically I have needed to submit claims. I have not had any difficulty with the process which is very simple. I have used manual mail in and more recent three years online and phone app. Process. My Buddy 9 years of age this summer has had two major surgeries unexpected. In 2020 he had a soft tissue sarcoma and aggressive type of cancer.     Even if I lose you somewhere while reading my review, please purchase a Healthy Paws pet insurance for your pet now. This is not like deciding whether to purchase your baby a duck toy or a squeaky ball. For the past 8 years Healthy Paws has saved us money we sometimes didn't have. It has allowed us to focus our energy and time on providing Mossi the best vet-care, rather than worrying about money. You don't want to avoid a visit to the vet because you cannot afford it. There is a lot of information online and in social media, which can be very overwhelming. It can also be very misleading, but the go-to for many people because it accessible, and cheaper. I do not recommend this at all.

    Make sure your pet is covered with Healthy Paws, take them to the vet, and every other source of information should always be confirmed by your vet. Before I do lose you (as you may think I am long-winded) think of surgeries and cancer, which are very common. Waiting until a sickness or odd-bump passes or goes away because it is not “big deal,” or avoiding routine examinations because “what if they are too expensive” - should never be the decision-process regarding your pet’s health. Pet insurance removes that financial obstacle. Your pet/baby's life may be short, but you can extend them and make the more comfortable with the proper veterinary care.

    As soon as we welcomed Mossi Banana into our lives, we purchased a Healthy Paws policy. It came to use right away! Two of the best decisions in our lives! My precious Yorkie, as is the case with the breed, has struggled with allergies, food sensitivities, osteoarthritis, and an incessantly curious and excitable personality that cannot be cured. Our journey with her tummy issues, food and seasonal allergies that change from year to year and as she ages, two surgeries for ruptured ligaments on her hind legs, a fractured tooth (she is a hard chewer, avoid plastic or antlers), have all been very stressful for Us and Her. However, the stress fades away after the visit to the vet when she starts feeling better. We do not have to worry any more than needed because she is covered. I can’t imagine feeling conflicted about foregoing a veterinary visit or treatment because of the cost. You do not want to, either.

    Mossi takes various medications and supportive treatments for her gastrointestinal health and bone & joint health, which are covered by Healthy Paws. The surgeries for her hind knees, as well as her rehabilitation program did not have to be optional because we had Healthy Paws. You can decide not to do them, but without them you would be seriously and negatively affecting the length and quality of your pet’s life. When her recovery sessions needed to be extended, Healthy Paws covered them - no questions asked. I submit my invoices the day of the treatment, and I can have the money in our bank account within the same week, sometimes within couple of days – this is a life saver!

    Preventative care and food is already expensive, but often doable if you have Healthy Paws to cover the rest. We have a tight budget, and can cover the preventative and food, but beyond that we would struggle and have to make difficult choices about our pet's health. You do not have to! As she ages, some of her health conditions are becoming more easily aggravated, which require more specialized care. Because we have Healthy Paws, we can afford an Internal Medicine Veterinarian that specializes in small dogs. Yes, there are veterinarians that specialize in many fields, but are usually more expensive. Specialized medicine can extend and even save your pet's life. It is more expensive, but it will not be an issue because you have Healthy Paws to cover your pet. I am amazed that Mossi's veterinary care and HP coverage are much better than my own human health care care and insurance coverage!

    If you have a breed that is known for great health, get an insurance with the lowest deductible and/or lowest reimbursement. Later, you can change them! Cancer and accidents can be very indiscriminate no matter the breed. You will regret not getting a policy, you will NOT regret getting one because you will need it. If you have a breed that is prone to health issues, get a HP pet policy immediately – and instead, spend the time and energy working with their vet, and doing your own research to learn about your pet’s predispositions and conditions so that you can provide them with best holistic care possible.     I have been a client of Healthy Paws Pet Insurance for many years now and I am so happy with my experience.     I have been so impressed by how Healthy Paws has come through for us over the years but especially recently. My 3 1/2 year-old dog Jack has had a couple of minor incidents over the years and they were always quick to process his claims and send a check in the mail, but they recently came through for us in a major way when he was suddenly diagnosed with Intervertebral Disc Disease and had to have major emergency spinal surgery and a hospital stay with a dog neurologist. Others discouraged me from going to a specialist because of the high cost of the diagnostic MRI and surgery but my dog was in incredible pain and suddenly lost control of his back legs and clearly needed emergency care.

    The total bill came out to be about $14,500 and Healthy Paws covered just shy of $11,000, so I only ended up paying about $3,500 myself. Jack is now happily recovering really well and expected to be able to run and play like he used to. The plan has already more than paid for itself, and the health and comfort of my most cherished companion is priceless. I was also touched that they wrote me a kind note after processing my claim to see how Jack was doing. So happy!

    My dog Logan had a surgery (splenectomy and thyroidectomy). We are thankful that we have Healthy Paws insurance, because otherwise we will spend a lot of money for his surgery and ER visits. We were able to extend our dog’s life and give him quality life because of our pet insurance!
