U-Haul's process and transaction were fast and exceptionally easy. The salesman was extremely helpful and knowledgeable making my decision to use this company very comforting. Also, there were no delays nor complications. The reliability of the company is as true as their advertisement said.

For my storage needs, U-Haul Storage had all the storage I could possibly need now or in the future. I like that they had clean and climate controlled storage units as well as non-climate control units and either one would fit they need anyone would have. My experience with them was excellent and I would recommend them to any friend, family or colleague as well as use them again in the future for my needs. I like that they were very experienced and very qualified to do the job I needed them to do. I like the way the company made me feel in charge the whole time and everything was done in a timely manner.

I contacted them to initiate the entire process, they gave me a quote, we agreed to it, they hooked me up with a storage space and I have paid monthly. My experience with U-Haul Storage was positive for the most part, and the few problems I had they took care of in a speedy manner. Their customer service was the best. I like it as well as the good storage facilities and the friendly employees. I would definitely recommend to others.

My experience with U-Haul Storage was very easy going and pleasant. They were very easy to work with and are very helpful. They also provide the best customer service. The process of getting a storage unit with them was very easy and simple. I was able to get a storage unit through the website and made my decision by comparing different sizes and rates. They provide reliable storage unit services at a cheap affordable rate. The storage units are also very safe and secure which made them even better.

I went to the U-Haul Storage website. Looked around for a little while then placed an order. They showed up and help load everything after they packed everything neatly in their awesome packing. The packing and packages were top of the line. From the first look at the website to the complete processing, completely happy and more than content. I found the experience to be a great one. They met every need it had and then some. Would definitely recommend to friends and family. The best service from a company I have had in a long time.

The service was great and the customer service was very friendly. Everything is very clean and secure. The process of getting what you need is simple, seamless and pain free. I told them what I needed and poof I had it. The people who work there were so nice and helpful. They were also very knowledgeable so if you have any problems or questions they will be answered. The price is very competitive with other companies and I can get packing, moving, equipment, trucks, and storage all in one place. I wish the price could be a little lower though but then I would not want to compromise on quality to get a lower price.

The experience was pretty decent, not too much trouble with anything or the company. Asking family to help put or move my equipment to the truck and then garage. Usually took the whole day or more or moving as fast as we can without breaking anything to get done. The trucks and garages they offer could be a little bigger though so we can store more stock in them and better place things and not stacked up. There's a high chance you could break things. But good overall. I would recommend U-Haul Storage to anybody that asked about this company if they were planning on moving.

There was something for any need I could have and the employees were nice as well. I would recommend them to others.

Very good experience, I enjoyed the relationship I had with the staff that worked there that were able to help me. U-Haul was an affordable choice for us to use at the time. It's easy to use and available in locations I needed and helpful with shipping need. Very easy to get a hold of someone to schedule any service or if there were questions, they looked up the answer when I needed help and got back to me. I was able to get the right amount of storage I needed. Only thing was customer service and support wasn't the best, wish they had more people working each shift, had to wait for an answer but they did answer the question eventually.

The website is very easy to navigate where you can view and compare over 40,000 storage facilities across the United States. It takes you inside to local facilities near you so you don't have to call around for pricing. The leading company has many partners with "small business, mom&pop" facilities so there are ample possibilities for you to rent in your local area; you know the pricing and can book in as little as a few minutes. You can do your business to find what suits your storage needs on your computer or on your mobile devices with no hassles. I used the storage service and did the packing myself. Once I booked a space was available and upon my arrival the customer support was exceptional. They even had tools available to help me if necessary. A very stress-free event.

We needed storage when we moved from one state to another while looking for a larger place to rent. U-Haul Storage had reasonable prices, ample storage space and many choices of space size. We were showed several spaces so we would know how much we needed to spend for a space that would hold the items we needed to store. They also provided a list of names we could speak to about their service and all the references provided had very positive things to say about them, especially about the safety of the storage compartments so we were not at all concerned. They were extremely professional, helpful and provided reliability and very quick service. We had a very good experience.

U-Haul is a trusted brand for moving, so it makes sense that the company would seek to extend their brand promise into the storage space and they are a first choice versus other local, lesser known companies. The process of deciding to engage U-Haul self and portable storage was smooth sailing and it was easy to find prices, options, terms and conditions, etc. Their staff is sometimes harried but the experience was seamless, from the start all the way to the finish. Customer service support was adequate and representatives were knowledgeable. Also, the items were stored safely.

We were moving out of our apartment into another across town and we got to keep the Uhaul box for the whole weekend and return it in Monday so we had plenty of time to load our stuff and then unpack it. The employee were very pleasant and helpful and answered all our questions. The price was a little expensive but it was worth it. We would recommend Uhaul to anyone looking for a storage box to use it. It was a good experience and we had no problems. The Uhaul was not as clean as expected but when we mentioned it to the manager they cleaned it out. Was mainly just some garbage left from previous renters.

U-Haul Storage/U-Box was very affordable, extremely convenient and exceeded expectations. I called the company and advised them that I was in need of a storage solution. The company then replied the size of the storage unit (approximately a room and a half) & asked me would I come get it or did I need it delivered. They also asked if I would be packing it myself or needed their assistance. I advised I would be packing it myself. I was then asked to schedule a pick-up time & they picked it up during the time they said they would.
I liked the fact that they would deliver & come pick up the storage unit as well as your belongings. However there were a few less-than-friendly employees there but unfortunately that's just the character flaws of some people in my hometown. The actual office that was called was great but the guys who delivered? Not so much. Other than that the experience with U-Haul Storage/U-Box was extremely positive. I got what I paid for and was able to get it set up and running quickly. It was a very easy & seamless process & I would use it again.

When I first contacted them, they were professional, they offered plenty of knowledge, they had local resource for me. I spoke to a very kind receptionist who walked me through everything that I needed to do. This was my first time using such a service and she was such a great help for me and made the process so seamless. They were also able to be available for me when I needed them and in the time frame that I needed them. They offered competitive rates, warranties and insurance that was far better than that of any competitor, they went out of their way to make me feel important. I can't say enough about how grateful I am that they were available with helping out my family and myself. They could not have been a better help than they were. I wish that there were more companies out there that are just as available out there for other people to be able to use. I will definitely use this same company if I ever need these types of services again.

This was the first time I had looked into this type of service and I was a little confused about it the beginning. I got to the place and my truck was ready with gas in it and had no complications. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I like that it's pretty easy to setup, order online and pickup. They have an online truck size chart that is helpful when trying to figure out what size you need so you do not have to make a bunch of trips back and forth. However, there are extra charges for everything. Also, some of the trucks just seem old and hard to drive or wore down. But for the most part U-Haul Storage is fine.

I called U-Haul Storage about what the processes was that I would have to go through to use their services. They went over the different sizes and types of storage that they had available at the time for me to use. I then narrowed down the choices based on the number of my belongings that I would need to store and the amount I was willing to pay for a particular container. Then after that I personally visited the facility and after thoroughly inspecting the containers I then made my selection.
It was easy to use this service and U-Haul Storage was very convenient for my needs at that particular point and time. The customer service was very nice when I talked to them and they were helpful and they got me the right sized container that I needed for my belongings. I felt welcomed by the staff. The facility was clean and it was very organized as well. I liked the wide selection of storage containers and the sizes were acceptable considering the portable nature of the containers available. I was moving out of an apartment to another one. It was in the same city, pretty much a couple miles away from where I was living. So I had all my belongings already packed up in boxes. I had a delightful experience with Uhaul. There was no problems. And we even returned the large, spacious truck an hour late and there was no complaints from the employees. The truck was a decent size for the price. It was rather cheap and I got to do what I wanted to do with it. I believe other companies would have charged more for the hours we had it, but not Uhaul. I wish customer service was better though. They were a little sloppy, and it would have been nice for a water or something.

I needed to pack and move in a hurry to go home to take care of my elderly Mother. I was able to order a unit and had it within 48 hours. I was glad to ship everything as soon as I was packed and store my belongings in a local storage building until I was ready to have the unit brought home. I was happy that I did not need to rent a U Haul truck and have my brother drive the load to my Mother's town and find a storage unit in a new town that I was not familiar with.
Staff were kind and helpful. I had a lot of questions that needed to be answered before I decided to use the service. We had the pod delivered to the address we requested and got email confirmations for dates and times. We were able to pay for it over the phone and got the payment confirmation too. The price is higher than I like though. I had the unit delivered and kept it on my driveway for several days. It created a lot of conversation with curious neighbors who wanted it to be moved as soon as possible. Otherwise the unit was very useful, I could lock it up at night with no worries.

Clean facility, no hassle sign up or monthly pay, low rates. My only complaint is that I believe someone kept trying to get into my unit. Definite proof after changing the locks, one with a key, the other a code word. Still, with my own locks, I'd recommend this facility.

I rented a truck and it did not take much time to do paperwork and be on my way to move. It was very helpful and easy. I also bought boxes to pack my belongings into. The company had all I needed. I really like being in and out with all the items I needed to make my move fast. The customer service was very polite and ready to help me with my needs. I also liked the gas tank was full upon pick up of vehicle. It was very convenient to go pick up and also to drop off. I liked how fast it was to pick up truck with hardly any notice to company (U-Haul). And the vehicle was very clean, but the driver's cab had a weird smell in it. Also, there was no coffee when I went in to get my truck and boxes. Coffee and doughnuts would be nice with all the money the rental ended up costing me. The cost was kinda high to rent a truck for half a day.

U-Haul was recommend just because it was the closest thing to me. But the process took a long time. When I went to go do it their computers were down so I had to wait the next day. However, it was the weekend so I had to way 4 days to get anything done. Also, it was pretty basic and I feel like I paid way too much for what was provided. There was also way too many mess ups and took way too much of my time. It seemed like nothing went right. The people that worked there weren't too friendly either. Won't use again.

I choose U-Haul because it is a known company with a good reputation. But the initial person that I dealt with was not personable. Her responses and info that was given to me was either short and misunderstood or she did not have an answer. It seemed as if she was not knowledgeable about her job and did not have enough training. Or it could have been that she just was not happy with her job. If I didn't need the services asap I would have explored other options. But customer service was nice to deal with and all of employees were helpful.
It was convenient for my needs and easy once the long process of explaining was over. I didn't have to purchase boxes, locks, packing paper, hand trucks and blankets. Everything is provided ny the company. I also used my debit card for automatic draft and did not to worry about a monthly bill or making sure I didn't forget to pay it. However I was charged fees that I was unaware of or was not brought to my attention and I was not happy about that. Otherwise I was pleased with the others and U-Haul was an OK experience. Everything an individual may need, U-Haul provides.

The customer service at U-Haul seemed to quite enjoy working for the company and are therefore exceptionally helpful to work with. So that was a delightful thing to experience. Basically, I picked up the truck then drove it to my home. When I arrived I forced my children to load everything into the vehicle. I only wanted to make one trip. Then we drove, arrived and unpacked. However, I didn't like that I had to drive it myself, especially when I am not licensed or practiced to drive large vehicles. It was a fairly terrifying experience, careening down the freeway. But the fun factoids on the sides of U-Haul's trucks are always a delight to read, so having the privilege of driving one was rather a delight as well. Overall it was quite a lovely experience.

We liked that U-Haul locations are easy to find, and that they are one of the best known names in moving and storage. It made the hassle of packing up our home very very easy. But the sign in process was a bit of a hassle. We had registered online and when we went in to the store, they could not find our info. However, once they figured it out, it was easy. Other than the mix-up at the beginning, combined with the higher prices, we did not find other things we were unhappy with. We would use them again in a heartbeat. My experience with U-Haul was good. It wasn't spectacular however it met my needs. I was moving into a new house and I had to store all my belongings and the belongings of my family. I was treated respectfully, the prices were decent and I had no problems with them. I first checked out their website and compared rates with other companies. From there, after deciding I thought that they were the best fit for my needs and at the right price, I called them. This was my first encounter with their customer service and my initial impression of them was great! I spoke with a gentleman who was polite, courteous, and well mannered. He was extremely professional and very knowledgeable as well. He walked me through the storage sizes and prices as well as any deals that they offered. Also, he answered all of my questions clearly and thoroughly.
The customer service was especially good. It was a very positive experience dealing with the U-Haul people in the storage offices. They were helpful and friendly. They were eager to help and they always made sure that my needs were met. Also, I was continually asked if there was anything else that they could do, that they could help me with. I enjoyed dealing with and communicating with these people. It was a very positive experience and everything was good for me whilst dealing with U-Haul Storage. It was kind a hectic situation. We were making a move from Michigan to Florida, and the SAME DAY we got the unit to start packing, my father had a massive heart attack. We had already signed our 'contract', but we needed to get to Connecticut ASAP! We tried pleading our situation to the company, but to no avail... we were 'locked in' to our contract. We packed the unit as quick as possible (because of this, many items and valuables came loose in the back, and were broke beyond repair... we lost a lot.
That was NOTHING though. We left Michigan the very next morning, traveled straight through, no over night stops... it was a mess! We then needed to UNPACK just as quick, and I was heart broke to see that much of my antique glassware was shattered, along with many knick-knack type items (some I had from childhood).
So now, we get one night of 'rest' (which was NOT very restful) and had to return the unit the following morning, and then straight from Florida to Connecticut, because my father in law was not expected to make it. We drove straight through, once again, but we were too late... he passed in the middle of that night. The entire family (although we explained our situation thoroughly, about having to return the unit within a certain period of time) they did not understand, and to this day, do not talk to us. My husband was/is heart broke over the entire situation. If the company had just been a bit more UNDERSTANDING, and allowed us a few more days to return the unit, my husband would have been there to say goodbye to his dad.
It was one of the WORST experiences I have had to deal with, with a company. I thought it was a greedy, unreasonable way for them to handle a situation that was completely out of our control. Just talking about it still upsets me... as I said, some of the family will have nothing to do with us. They think we 'lied' because SURELY a company would more helpful under an emergency... but, they were not. :/
After 'all' we were put through - the RUSHING, the PACKING/UNPACKING, the BROKEN VALUABLES... no, I have no good memories of that incident at all. With all the $ they make, I just thought they could AT LEAST give us a discounted price, so we could AFFORD a couple 'well needed' extra days. As it was, we were flat broke, and borrowed the $ to 'see' my father in law, which was all in vain. I will never forget how hard my husband cried, his Mum wouldn't even talk to him. He is a BIG 'TOUGH' MARINE, but that day, he cried like I have NEVER HEARD 'ANY' MAN CRY. It was a disaster. Their greediness, which led to all our other problems during that move. I won't say I BLAME them... but, they did start what ended up a domino affect.
As far as their rules, pricing and convenience, I must say, they were a good choice. I just wish they could have been more understanding. I wrote them a letter after, along with my father in law's obituary, showing them how wrong they were in their decision to not give us even a small break. I figured, if nothing else, at least it MAY help the next person.

A lot cheaper than others, but I guess that makes up for the lack of customer service. Even with reservation one should double check to make sure it's still available. The Ubox was a cheap plywood box nailed to the pallet that is tossed around by a forklift. Luckly I didn't put any fragile items in the U-Box. But the price I look up suddenly jump a few hundred after a few months. Maybe it was a promotion price when I first looked it up. Overall, the process of the move was smooth for the price I paid. I went there on that day and got the truck which I used for 3 days. When I was finished, I returned the truck. They were great. Everyone I dealt with was very friendly too. Some companies forget customer service and it's a shame. The truck was well-maintained and clean. I was pleasantly surprised. I was also extremely satisfied with the services I received. I will go to U-Haul for all of my packing and moving/storage needs. It was easy and a positive experience.

My former storage unit, door to door was purchased by UHaul and or Ubox. I was unaware of this acquisition and was rather perplexed when I received a two letters on the same day. Both letters are from Jess ** and written a few days apart, however, the date on the back had an accurate date as to when this letter was generated by their system. One was a late notice and the other a Pre-lien, both of these letters arrived on the same day. I called the number listed and after being transferred and spending far too much time on the phone I finally was able to speak to Jennifer in customer service. She assured me this issue would be resolved and either, Jess, Orhan and/or someone from customer service would call me within 48 to 72 hours.
I called again 80 plus hours later and spoke to Ryan a manager in the corporate office, who took my complaint and then once again transferred me to the regional office in hopes once again I would resolve my own issues. I have now left yet another message for the regional manager Laura and James, asking someone to please help me resolve my issues. What kind of company acquires another and doesn't inform their customers??? I have been using the same cc since 2/2/2013 without issues and now they are unable to utilize the same one? If there was an issue with my account, why wasn't I contacted? Why are they sending out letters without calling first and why were these letter generated on the same day? Why did my price change from $60 per month to 93.12 without any notification whatsoever? Even when I called in, my letter stated an incorrect storage number and this alone took a long time to resolve.
I am so disappointed with this company, I even more upset that I didn't choose to utilize their service and my storage unit was acquired by them and they are unable to help me resolve my issues. I hope and pray my things are not sold in an auction, considering I can't even get any person to explain the high increase and or take my CC again. I can't fathom why someone in the corporate office was incapable of assisting me on these issues and once again chose to pass me along to someone else stating, this is NOT his area until the Regional Office is unable to resolve it. What part did he comprehend? I have been trying to resolve this issue since last week and no one and I mean NO ONE returns calls. I would not recommend Uhaul or U-box to any person. This is a horrific company, they lack proper customer service, professionalism and are clueless. Tomorrow I am contacting the BBB to file a complaint.

Payment Harassment. They send an automated email a week before the storage rent is due which is an acceptable reminder. On the due date, they call me to remind me that payment is due (I have 3 days before being charged a late fee). If I don't make the payment, I receive a call each morning of those 3 days. I have rented storage from them since Sept 2012 - and have very seldom been charged a late payment.

I have used the U-Haul trucks. They are spacious, low to the ground for easy access to loading the truck for heavy items! They have loop grommets on the walls to tie items down so they don't slide around or fall down! You can rent blankets for keeping your items from getting scratched. The cab is roomier. I carry three people comfortably and they are automatic for those that can't drive a manual drive. They have plenty of power to climb mountains! The cost is very reasonable to rent!
They have ramps to walk up instead of having to step up or climb up into the back of the truck. You can also add on a towing bar to haul extra vehicles with you! They also have storage areas in some of their U-Haul facilities to store your good in a secure and climate controlled area to keep your items from rusting or getting moisture from your items and destroying them. They rent these spaces for a reasonable price as well! They have U-Haul dealerships in most towns across America for your convenience!

We moved to a new city in September. Rented a one way U-Haul truck which gave us a free storage for 30 days. We had the storage from 9/16/16 to 10/15/16. Closed it out and had a receipt printed that showed our account zeroed out. A little over a week ago my father in law received a couple letters addressed to me (he was our emergency contact). One stating they hadn't received our payment that was due on 10/17/16 so they tacked on a $20 late fee. And another saying that I owed them $1709.25.
We called the location listed which was the location we had our unit. They were rude and snotty stating that they "didn't know why we were calling them because it can from another county". According to them the charge was coming from the county we moved from. We called them because that's the location listed in the letter. They gave us a phone number to call and I was waiting for my fiancé to call, but decided to use their live chat because it's easier for me since I always have my kids around and they're not quiet.
The lady was nice. She asked for a contract number which the letter does not have. It also doesn't list a unit number. It says #reservationnumber when it goes to list the unit. She had her manager look at the file and then told me they are sending it to the local and regional offices and someone would contact me. So I guess we will see if this actually gets resolved. Shouldn't have been an issue in the first place. Where does $1709.25 even come from for a month of storage???

In spring of 2015 I arranged for a ubox in NMB Florida. Unfortunately due to printer problems they couldn't print me a copy of my contract. Nevertheless, it took me several days to pack but by the time I was finished, my circumstances had changed. My partner, and reason for the move, was now employed with Delta which meant I could ship everything for free via the airline. Rather than unpack the box, I made an arrangement with U-Haul to keep it in NMB on a month to month basis. But, 2 days later after I left town I received a call from U-Haul saying they erred and shipped the box via a third party and it was out of their hands and they were unable to track or return the box to NMB.
I asked U-Haul for a copy of the contract but the original file they sent me multiple times via email is empty. It had been deleted from their server. However they have a new copy of a different contact at the destination, near Seattle Washington. Which is where they're holding our stuff for over a year and I've been paying storage fees of approximately $90 a month until I can pay the shipping cost of $2000. Now, it looks like I can't come up with the $2000 so I'll have to default losing our belongings, $1000 in storage fees and risk collections just because they shipped the box when it was supposed to remain in storage in NMB.

Typically when you rent something, someone walks you to the car, to show you the vehicle, to make sure there aren't any damages when you return it. They charged me for having used a dolly, due to a broken seal. It seems terribly unethical to charge somebody something when they don't confirm with you the condition beforehand. The man I spoke to over the phone was terribly unprofessional and forced down my throat that I used it. I didn't even touch it - I recall very vividly that the seal looked similar to a clothing tag in a department store, and that I shouldn't even touch it, lest I get charged. The huge poison box they had placed in the corner did not keep out all the critters, as I also found small pellet droppings on my items (mice?).
Upon moving my things out and closing the contract, I requested a prorated refund for the 27 days of the prepaid month that I would not be using. I was informed that they do not prorate under any circumstance, as a policy. The customer pays a full month's rent in advance no matter how many days of that month they occupy the space. This allows U-Haul to rent the unit and receive double income for the space, which seems very unethical to me. Throughout my experiences I received poor customer service and long wait lines. I asked U-Haul if they could cut the lock to gain entrance and they told it wasn't allowed. They said I would have to contact a locksmith or use theirs. At the time I had no money so it had to be put on hold until I could get the funds.
A month or so later they contacted to inform me they had insurance adjusters and were moving things to another unit. They told me they would be taking pics of the things damaged to protect both parties from illegal actions or something of that sort. They had cut the lock themselves to gain access. A few this later I was able to arrange to rent a truck and remove my items from their property, only to find it was in a much smaller unit and 80% of belongings were gone.
I had purchase insurance from them and from a 3rd party. Theirs was included with my monthly charge for renting the unit. The other was a one 're charge that would cover all my belongings in the unit ($20,000). It consisted of the total furnishings of a 3 bedroom home. I am still in court over that claim, but U-Haul never compensated for my stuff. And as for moving stuff without my permission, that is still questionable. We had to go up through the levels for around 3 hours before someone would explain why they wouldn't accept the card. This whole time they kept threatening to take the U boxes back. I was in town only for the week so I really needed them to pack. Then when we offered to pay part in cash and get the rest when it was picked up, they refused and demanded another card (which I don't have).
We finally got that resolved after going through the corporate levels once again and now, a month later we want the pods delivered. Now, after confirming that there would be no more charges multiple times, getting as specific as possible, they refuse to deliver the pods without an additional $200. We had set up ahead of time that we would only store for a month and then they would be taken somewhere else. The rent ends soon, so we had coordinated to have people come and unpack the pods at the new location and paid for a new facility to make sure we were finished before the deadline came. All the work and changing plans to make sure everything would run smoothly and be done with minimum hassle all destroyed because they failed to a) give all the information up front multiple times and b) refuse to try and come to a compromise so we can try to fix the problem.

I will never use U-haul again! I had a need for small moving container to move approximately 500 miles. I called the local rental location and was forwarded to corporate answering services. U-haul was incapable of delivering a container to my location. Despite the fact that I clearly described my needs, I was forced to hire a sub-contractor, Moving Help, for over $250 and rent a trailer to move the box for another $20 per day in order to have the box brought to my location. I clearly stated that my reason for using a container was a desire to do the loading personally and at my leisure.
The sub-contractor failed to clarify my desires upon arrival and could not demonstrate that he was licensed, bonded, or experienced. No one was uniformed. The moving container was a plywood box that was old, damaged, and dirty. The agent had insisted that there was no less expensive way to move the box to my location, and the sub-contractor insisted on packing it for me. In the process, there was significant damage to many personal items. Later I found out that I could have rented a vehicle and reduced my charge to less than $50, but that option had been removed from the U-haul offerings.
The Uhaul systems were not working, and resulted in a 4 hour wait at the office to obtain my container. The sub-contractor's information was not on file, and his pick-up truck was old, rusted, and did not have working lights. Much of the wait was to find a working tow vehicle. The local people complained that the system was new, did not work properly, and they were not trained. When I complained, no one could answer my questions, no one could negotiate or fix the problems, and no one returned any phone calls. The system appeared to be interested in only maximizing U-haul's income. In the end, the cost to move two U-Pak boxes cost me more in both cash and trouble than to move a 16 foot container from U-haul's competitor!

I am a PAYING customer! I pay on time and if I get upset because the service I PAY FOR is prohibiting me from getting my things...Imma be upset! I will post this EVERYWHERE for all to see. I have not been provided with working keys to my lock and the ONLY key (singular) that worked was in the office which they are not 'supposed' to keep customers' keys due to a 'liability'... Where is the other key??? Even the CEO'S secretary said that this didn't seem right. This is a real shame that this happened but gladly I have found someone to help...not U-Haul I want to be clear.
Being an 'outrage' customer is not talking loud because you CAN'T get the things you PAY for. No!! Being an outrage customer is cursing, calling names, throwing things... Need I say more? You guys are literally the worst and according to the FIRST AMENDMENT... I had as an upset but civilized customer every right to be upset! You are a company who needs to put feelings aside and be professional when dealing with a customer you KNOW whose lock NEVER works. I don't have to be e-listed to NEVER do business here.

As the months have gone by, we have been made aware that our truck rental from U-Haul on 28th Street in Grand Rapids, MI will not be reimbursed. After the first service call with a latch hung up in the top of the truck preventing closure, we had a second service call within three hours of a blowout on the highway which resulted in a three-hour wait for service in 104 degree weather. Only to find out that we would have another blowout had the service tech not caught the fact that all the tires were ready to blow. U-Haul authorized the tech to replace all the tires. Soon we had a third problem... A fast fuel leak along with a roof leak. On the fuel side, it amounted to $130.00 for every 90 miles. As for the roof leak, all of my just purchased leather was all wet!
Promises to pay from U-Haul and to pay for everything became stark cold when the manager refuses to pay. Mind you, we even took out the additional insurance. The worst part of this whole issue is that Michael says this could happen to anyone. Corporate.... Not any better on customer service. It's been a runaround since day one! We are frustrated and speaking out.

I have two pods with U-Haul in Lorain, OH. I have moved across the country to the West Coast nearly and have continued to pay the storage payments for almost two years now. I have had financial difficulties and have been behind on the payments but never over 30 days and always pay the late fees. **, the manager, calls or has someone call every single day. In the last month he has become very snotty and unprofessional.
Now I go to pay for my pods and find out that he has added a 50.00 "pre-lien" charge to both units. The problem with this is that according to the contract I originally signed they must be over 30 days past due. The latest email says that it is the "4th step" in the lien process. The payments were due Oct. 14, 2013. I sent an email last month and asked to be sent the cost of having the pods brought out here, and he refuses to give me the numbers unless I call him and discuss my past due rent. Really?
I need to know who I contact about this because although I will do what I have to in order to keep my stuff, I have every intention of making the company honor their rental contract. Nowhere in the contract does it say that I have to call ** before I can find out what to do to have the pods sent to me. Also, I was home in June of this year and wanted to rent a trailer to bring the pods back with me and was told that "they didn't do that because they didn't allow anyone else to haul the pods." This is a lie. If you go to U-Haul's website it is right on there that you can rent the trailer and haul them. I would most certainly like to be contacted by an attorney to move this to the legal forum.

I have been a customer of U-Haul for the last 5 years for moving and storage. I had no issues with them at all until now. I had mine and my children's belongings in storage for quite some time because we lived in a place where there was not enough room. I had my things in a storage room in Niagara for close to two years and not once did I have an issue. I had to move to Toronto and move my things to a storage room there. I didn't seem to have any issues until about a year after my stuff was moved in. I went to my storage room to find most of my belongings were destroyed by rats. I had to throw out 90% of what I owned. I was devastated because a lot of the stuff in there is irreplaceable - like photos, my children's first outfits, important paperwork, etc.
I put all of my trust in the U-Haul employees to ensure my things were well taken care of like they were in the storage in Niagara. But it was not taken care of at all, and I feel like I have been used by that company. I paid my storage fees every month, which I was being overcharged for. I had a 10x10 storage room in Niagara and I paid $125. When I moved to Toronto, I had to downsize to a 5x10 that I paid $129. I was not pleased with the change but I dealt with it. What I can't deal with is the damages. Not to mention I called the insurance company because I paid for safestore. Go figure Vermin is not covered. I don't know what to do next. The money value is not my issue. It's the fact U-Haul should be making sure their employees take care of the customers’ belongings because people put so much trust in these people. I want that to be heard. What do I do?

Up front, bottom line: U-Haul Moving & Storage at York St in Denver, Colorado is a sketchy company staffed by rude, lying, incompetent and vindictive lowlifes. The worst of which is their store manager, **. How U-Haul manages to stay in business with "managers" of their franchises is nothing short of astounding. My fiancé has gotten the runaround from U-Haul for the past 9 days (and counting) trying to ship our things from Denver to Virginia. They told us their U-Box instead of PODS is a better price but really sold her too little space. We had notified the local mover we were likely short a box because and her stuff would not fit. The office was unresponsive. The movers confirmed there were not enough boxes.
A representative, **, who had a nasty disposition, first blamed her for not ordering another box beforehand (despite the fact no one picked up the phone when she tried for days to inquire about another box) and even yelled at my fiancé about how he hated his job, etc, and had the movers wait 5 hours (which the movers were never paid for the extra time) for them to get another U-box. She was yelled at over the phone when they did pick up (some of this recorded), blamed again for the snafu, and even hung up on more than once. After this, we filed a complaint with U-Haul corporate customer service who just passed it back to the same local U-Haul who was giving us grief. They finally picked up the boxes and took them the local U-Haul storage place to be shipped out within 7-10 days, or so we thought.
Seven days go by and we get the runaround on any status or update. Nothing in writing on estimated shipping dates. The few times we get through, we get times they say they will ship which never ends up happening. They wouldn't even allow her to confirm her boxes were actually there until 2 days ago. (It's now May the 28th, 10 days after they picked up her stuff.) They wouldn't even answer the phones to process payment so we had to go through corporate to do that. They then charged us $100 more for the third box (compared to the other two boxes) and another $200+ in strange storage fees. And now, her stuff is still sitting in Denver while we get the runaround and are orally quoted shipping days and times they never honor.
We are convinced that the manager of this place decided to retaliate for her calling customer service (after they screwed up) by dragging their feet, purposely ignoring her phone calls, and overcharging her for storage fees (the longer it sits at their location and doesn't ship, they more they can charge). The Regional Manager ** hasn't been any help thus far who the corporate customer service in Arizona keep referring us back to. Today (May 28th), we were again told her things would ship today, but judging by the past comments and deception of the manager **, I seriously doubt that.
These guys are simply bullies who use deceptive business tactics, outright lies, and even verbal abuse to take advantage of people during an already stressful time of moving. On top of that, they retaliate against customers who complain about their terrible service and nasty attitudes. The cost of this move has almost doubled since we ordered U-Box online and her stuff hasn't even shipped yet. 11 days and counting!

The email below detailed my horrible experience at U-Haul Storage located at 2215 5th Street, NE Washington, DC 20002. To make this worse, I received a call today (04-12-13) from Meg ** (800.528.3066) who was arrogant enough to inform me that I am not likely to collect any damages as I opted to be self-insured. I will need your help to find a good lawyer to work with. Please see the letter to the manager below:
I am writing to you about the problems that I encountered with U-Haul storage located at 2215 5th Street, NE Washington, DC 20002. Mr. ** provided me with your email. Please read the following email and advise me on what to do. At the end of October 2010, I brought my things (mainly a queen bedroom set, living furniture - a custom-made matching tan leather sofa and love seat), kitchen accessories, Teflon cooking set, a set of fine china (eight serving set of Noritake Legacy Splendor no. 4267), another set of non-stick pots, baking wares, cutlery, lots of cups, bedding covers, bed sheets, towels, and lots of books.
My things were packed in sealed boxes with the exception of very big items such as mattress, living room furniture and bedroom furniture. These items were wrapped up in storage wrapping materials. On March 30th, 2013, I decided to take out my things from storage. It was then that I first noticed some of the destruction made to my property by rats. To be exact, there were rat droppings, eggs, and pee all over my property. It was embarrassing and hurtful to see the state of my property. In many cases, the rats ate through my boxes and wrappings to get into my boxes where they left droppings, eggs, and a horrible stench from pee all over my pots, dishes, boxes of napkins, towels, etc.
The rats even destroyed my living couch and love seat by leaving gaping holes on the couch and a horrible pee stench that refused to go away. Even after getting a professional company in Atlanta, GA to clean both the sofa and love seat, the pee smell will not go away. I had to throw away four boxes of kitchen paper towels, two boxes of fabric napkins, a box containing my dishes, at least three sets of bed sheets and two extra large towels, a box of baking pan and bed room set that I can no longer use due to the stench.
Currently, I am sleeping on an air mattress as I cannot use my bedroom set. I paid Brown ChemDry of Atlanta, GA (770-577-2259) a sum of three hundred and twenty-five dollars ($325.00) to clean my living room furniture so as to kill any eggs that might be hidden in the furniture as well as take care of the smell. However, the smell is still here. As such, I am reluctant to waste another three hundred dollars or so to have my bedroom furniture cleaned and still have the smell. I need to replace the living room furniture, my bedroom set, my dishes, bed sheets and towels, as well as many boxes of both paper/regular napkins.

I rented a U-Haul Storage Unit (Gettysburg Rd, Mechanicsburg, PA) on Sept. 7, 2012; the first month rent was "free". Every month thereafter from Oct. 7 on, my rent would be $153.65 (PA tax incl), to be paid on the 7th of every month. On or about Mar 31, 2013, I called U-Haul in Mechanicsburg to let them know I would be moving out of state on Apr. 12, 2013 and would not need the storage unit from Apr 12, 2013 on. Since I was paid up till Apr 7, I asked if I had to pay my Apr. 7-May 7 rent or would U-Haul prorate it? The guy I spoke with said that U-Haul doesn't prorate the days but that they would "settle" everything up when I moved out on Apr. 12. He said he would note this conversation on my account.
On Apr 10, 2013, I got an email from U-Haul stating that because my rent was not paid on Apr. 7, I will get charged a $15 late fee. Right away, I called U-Haul and talked to ** who saw the note in my account but said there was a miscommunication since the guy I talked with previously thought my rent was payable on the 11th of each month. I told him that I had clearly stated my rent was due on the 7th each month and since I was told it was okay to not pay the rent since we were talking about 4 days (Apr. 8-11, 2013), I shouldn't be charged anything plus, the fact that my account was pulled up on the U-Haul computer screen!
He disagreed and said that all that is written in the contract that I signed when I first rented the storage unit. He then said that if I could pay my rent today (Apr. 10), they would deduct the $15 late fee but that there was nothing U-Haul was going to do to prorate the 4 days I would need the storage unit. So I had to pay it or they were going to put one of their locks on it and I wouldn't be able to get my stuff out on Apr. 12!
My questions/comments to all:
1. How many people take the time to read all the paperwork's fine print? Usually the U-Haul is packed with people and there's no place to sit and actually read it. And secondly, how many people are going to understand all the legalese terminology U-Haul uses?2. I remember being told that the rent was due on the 7th, but do not remember being told that "If you decide to leave on any day after the 7th, you have to pay the next month's rent". Your loss, our gain!
3. What happened to the policy of "prorating"? Apartments still prorate when you move in/move out; insurance companies prorate your policies; when you buy a home, your mortgage payment, taxes and insurance are prorated! Why does U-Haul get to pocket the additional money?
4. By having to pay for the whole month from Apr. 7-May 7, 2013, I am losing $133 and change because of 4 days. Is that fair? Is U-Haul actually pocketing that extra money for the "free" month of rent I got when I first rented the storage unit? In other words, I got nothing for "free" because I still paid for it! This is very deceptive advertising!
However, I have taken official steps to help future users of U-Haul services - I filed an official complaint on the U-Haul in Mechanicsburg, PA, to the PA state Attorney General's Office. I've also sent in a complaint form to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) in PA. I suggest many of you should do the same! File complaints to your state Attorney General and the BBB. Someone somewhere needs to be aware of these issues! Only then will U-Haul get the official word that the public is sick and tired of these egregious acts against us!

I have filed a complaint with the NY AG's office. This was after dealing with the CEO of U-Haul directly for over 6 years to try and resolve my situation (U-Haul stole over 1/3 of my belongings from my storage unit and ruined the rest - water and excessive heat damage). I was contacted by the NY Attorney General's office yesterday: ** (his name is Joel). I was told that the AG can't sue U-Haul because I am the only complainant. I was told that 5 people needed to file complaints with the NY AG for the AG to sue.
I noticed that there are lots of people from NY who have actionable complaints on this site. I would urge everyone in NY to contact the AG's office and get the complaint form. It is only one page and very easy to fill out. And should anyone on this site want to talk to ** directly, his cell phone number is: *. His cell's voice mail is often full though. There were droppings on and in everything, eggs attached to our mattress, bugs everywhere. We filed a claim and it was denied. I will not give up on this because U-Haul should hold up their end of the contract in saying to keep a clean, pest-free facility. Please help my husband and me.

My daughter asked U-Haul’s Mr. ** if it would be okay, before she rented the spot with them, to pay on payday of every month, which is Friday, so it may fall on a 4th or 3rd of that month. Now, she has paid every time as said, but now they sent me a letter about her (Elaine **) not paying when I said to use me only as an emergency contact if things are stolen, etc. I told them not to send me some letters about my daughter’s bills as I have nothing to do with that. Take me off your list now. Furthermore, my daughter is in bankruptcy and she told them that’s why they are breaking the law - by contacting her. Don't call me or mail me no more. I'm not paying it - it’s her bill, so deal with her! Please let them know.
Hi, this is Elaine ** now. Mrs. ** has been nice to me about payment plans and there were days that she worked with me, but I need them to take me off text the list. There are many times that I get 4 to 5 text messages, but I'm a good customer and pay all the time as agreed upon as my mom said I am in bankruptcy. My mom is upset about this because she told them to call or mail only on break-ins or fire - after all, I pay all the time on time. As agreed, Friday, on payday, the same is going in. They knew that upfront. If this is how all U-Hauls are, I don't want anything.

I rented a storage unit and everything was fine until I moved out. I moved everything out but I forgot to take the locks off. I was mailed a bill for another month's rent so I called to see what was going on. I was told that if the locks are on, we can still be charged. I knew this was my mistake so I paid the month I owed and told the manager that she could charge me to cut the locks as well. She said, “okay,” and “thank you”. Two months later, I got a bill in the mail for $300.00. I called outraged and the same manager said that she did not remember speaking with me and that I had to pay for the months the locks stayed on. I called the corporate office and they forwarded me back to her. Apparently, no one can hold her or the location responsible - or even look into it. I will never use U-Haul again as I did not realize this was how this company is run. To be this large of a company, there is no excuse not to have a system in place for complaints.

I am in need of your help, and advice. My husband and I rented a storage unit at U-Haul, 11202 Antoine Dr. Houston, TX 77066, (281) 444-8028. The unit was $105 a month. The biggest storage units available were 10x10. We were struggling to pay that amount monthly. We couldn't afford to pay $124 plus fees and taxes. We had to move our things suddenly and fast with a low budget. We thought, with U-Haul, we should be getting quality service. We went to check on our things in early March and found that our furniture had been molded: our kids' toys, our brown sofa set, dressers, kids' mattress, and dressers. We informed the general manager of this matter via telephone. His tone was nasty. He argued with me, questioned whether our things were really damaged, and cut me off as I tried to ask questions.
After an unpleasant conversation, he told me that I needed to file a claim with their insurance company. I was told that even if you haven't purchased insurance, there is a chance you will still be compensated. My husband signed a contract that gave the option to buy insurance, or say, you would be self-insured. There was no other option. I asked the manager if we would still have to pay for a storage unit that damaged our furniture and he snapped at me, cut me off mid-sentence and told me that was a question I would have to ask the insurance company. I told him that it seems that he, being the general manager, would be the one to give me that info. He cut me off again as if irritated and kept repeating the number as I attempted to ask the question.
I learned from the insurance company that it certainly was up to the general manager, **. I was assigned an adjuster by the name of Kathy **. I received only one message from her since March. I called her several times and left messages and was never contacted. I assumed that she must be busy and tried to give her time to handle my case, but after weeks of waiting, and April coming to end, I called again. I had to speak with another agent to find that my case was closed and denied. I have no way of replacing my damaged furniture. Kathy never even called to discuss the case. I was floored.
I was transferred from agent to agent, supervisor to manager, and not one person answered. The agent who informed me that my case was closed gave me the nastiest attitude, basically giving me the "I don't give a **!" tone. After leaving a message for the supervisor (Laura **), the manager, and Kathy asking to be treated like a human being, I finally got a call from my original adjuster. She sounded annoyed as soon as I answered the call. She gave the same attitude. She interrupted me while I attempted to ask questions. She avoided answering questions, i.e., "Is it correct that I have a chance to be compensated whether I purchased insurance or not correct?" She answered yes. "So why was I not given the chance to be compensated? Why were we not eligible?" She answered, "You were denied. I can't help you."
The general manager told me he sent pictures of the damaged furniture, and holes in the unit that may have caused the damage. I talked to an agent and was told there were no pictures on file. An agent also told me that they were waiting for U-Haul to send pictures and that was the cause for the long delay. I feel like I was being treated like a criminal, as if they thought I was trying to do something sneaky. I lost my things. I can't afford to buy a whole new living room set, and dresser/nightstands for my bedroom. My son has asthma. I can't bring that furniture into my home. I didn't call with attitude, and given the situation, I would expect a person working in customer service to be courteous, not treat me as if I have done something wrong. I felt low after dealing with this company. No one would help me. I had to fight for the help that I got. Now I am starting from scratch.

I have been at the same location for close to 22 years. It used to be a private mini storage, never a problem with them. Then U-Haul bought them out and changed a lot. One needs to make an appointment to put a bag of trash in the dumpster, probably paid over the years $50-$60 thousand to both companies. I went to pay my rent early, end of May, and told them I would be moving out in a few days or maybe a week, selling my boat. They never told me that they would not refund me any money back. I checked out today, May 3, 2012. Also, I have had a gate clicker for 12-15 years that has a $50.00 deposit when you get one and then they program it to your storage area to open the gate. If you do not pay your bill, the computer will not let you in the gate. They said I had to come up with a receipt. Hello? Even the IRS does not require me to keep receipts for 12-15 years.
These people are not only liars but downright crooks. Anybody reading this should find another company to do business with. I hope they need the little amount that they screwed me out of because I will tell all my friends and contractor friends about the very poor service that this company does to people. Take your business to someone who wants to treat you like human beings.

On February 4, 2011, I moved all my stuff to Georgia, because this landlord, whom I was corresponding with over 5 months, told me that she had a place for me. But when I went to Atlanta, the house was not in good condition. So I put my truck out of the way to find somewhere to stay for the night, because the drive was long and I was tired. I was going to get my truck the next day. But it was gone. I was told that it was towed by this company, but after talking to several people, I was able to to get a key for my storage.
On February 6, I talked to a lady by the name of Stacy who assured me that she will take care of me and that I would not have to worry about my stuff. So I believed her, because at this time, I was crying, scared that I was going to lose all of my stuff. But with this big bill of $600, I was not thinking right, and especially after finding that I had kidney stones and needed a operation to remove.
So after a week of being unable to move, my friend and I move a whole storage by ourselves in my Suburban truck for weeks before April 9, 2012. We move all of my stuff out of storage, because I asked if U-Haul would take the payment of $187 that I just made that Saturday (March 10, 2011) and if they would transfer the fund onto a truck. I was told no, so we move every week, sometimes three times a day or two times a day. We did, but it caused me a great deal of pain that someday I could not get out of bed.
So on April 8, 2010, I noticed that my 32-in TV would not come on and that I could not put my cable on it. I was upset, because after opening all of my boxes, some of my items were broken. I was not going to say anything, but when my TV was broken, I well felt that Ms. Stacy knew about this. So I called on April 8, 2012 and spoke to Tammy **. She told me that she had nothing to do with that and to call Ms. Stacy on Friday, April 8, 2012.
So I did went to see her, but when I got there, the lady told me that she was not there and to put in writing what has happened. So I wrote a letter to Ms. Stacy on April 8, 2012. When Ms. Stacy came to work on Monday, April 9, 2012, she called me, talking loudly over the phone telling me that she helped me out and that she was professional and that I was going to lose if I try to take U-Haul to court about my stuff being all broken. She also said that she did not hire the men on the street but that she hired Labor Ready. I told her that I was coming to see her with in a hour, so I did.
When I got to her building, she asked me to walk outside and talked to me about going after the funds for my stuff being broken. She told me again that I was going to lose, because U-Haul has a lawyer and that it is a million-dollar business. Also, she said that the towing company broke my stuff first. And when I asked her for copies of the picture she showed me, she gave a copy. I then asked for a copy of the order of Labor Ready that she hired them to move my stuff into that storage. First, she said okay, but then she said no. She said that if I am going to go after Labor Ready, I was coming after her also. So she would not give me a copy and told me to get my lawyer to get them. So again, after all I have been through, here it is; I have found help for my stuff that were broken.

I recently had one week in between apartments and needed to store my belongings for only a few days. I actually had to use 3 different U-Haul sites to accomplish this. Two of the sites I used were absolutely fabulous - great customer service, friendly people and very helpful. I found out that these two sites are subsidiaries of U-haul and not a 'corporate' store.
The third site was awful. They would not let me pro-rate my storage unit, they were very unfriendly and in all honesty their employees looked 'high'. The owner was very rude when explaining why he could not pro-rate my unit. Not even a sorry. If I ever have to use U-haul again, I will make sure I use an independent contractor. Apparently they are concerned about repeat customers and building their business. Consequently, having to pay for a month of storage instead of a week has left me with very little money for gas, groceries or my prescriptions.

U-Haul sold my staff on auction. Everything that I have and now, I have nothing. It started like this: I was moving from my apartment and I had to use the nearest one, so I did. I would be late from time to time, but I always pay any amount of money they ask me. On October, I was late two months. One month was over and the other was at the beginning. I was out of town, but I stayed in touch with them. Before that, I went to their office to pay the 74 dollars plus late fees. They told me to pay $349. I started to ask them why and they told me I have to pay both month. I didn't have the $349, but I offered to pay $247, the amount of money I had with me. They refused. I had to go back to work the following day, so I left the the money with my friend and asked him to go over there with the money and see if they would take it.
He went twice and nothing happened. One day, they called me asking me to call the manager. I did, I explained the situation to him and he said that I'm not supposed to pay $349, but $289. Now I called my friend and let him know. He went over there and they refused to take the money by telling the guy "if the manager asks her to pay $289, he is the one who's supposed to take the payment". The thing is, when I spoke with the manager, I told him that I heard there was going to be an auction. His answer was, "don't worry, your staff is not going to be put on auction because it's not time yet. In fact, I'm going to put a code on your staff so they would not touch them". this is more of a comment, in reference to the huge amount of complaints I've read here about U-Haul storage. I'm very surprised at some! In my opinion, when an individual/family pays for storage, what they're paying for are space, to store valuables, and security and peace of mind; and a safe environment for your personal property. In my opinion, controlling the vermin population falls into, the safe environment category.
Whether insurance covers this issue or not, U-Haul, a big as they are, as long as they've been in business, should have had this problem licked decades ago. I myself work for U-Haul, however, on the other end of the spectrum, I am a rental agent for the moving trucks/equipment side. It' so hard to believe that U-Haul is so lax in their storage department, because the truck rentals are quite different. Me, my immediate supervisor, and our district area manager, all address complaints, mistakes etc, quickly, and in a friendly, helpful to the customer, manner.
I will work endlessly, to resolve an issue, as do my superiors. My manager always makes a point to stress to me, the importance of friendly customer service. Satisfied customers do, after all, provide my paycheck. My name is Chris, and I work at the Midland, TX U-Haul rental center located at **. If you ever need to make a move in my area, I will take care of you, with your needs in mind. I'm so sorry about all these folks on here's heartache.

CLEAN DRY STORAGE...NOPE
Rented a storage unit in Ayer Ma. Got a free month from using a truck. BIG MISTAKE, they kept billing me for that month and screwed up my checking.
Next up tons of mice poo everywhere.
The other day went to get some items and the front of the unit was soaked along with all my items. A flood on the floor. I took pics and video. The guy was useless. Gave me a tarp and taped up the tons of holes in the ceiling.
Called today and the marketing director Scott Chase said "too bad, you should have bought the insurance". So clean and dry is not what you get. You get sopping wet.
Awful.

The storage units are infested with mice. Our belongings are saturated with feces, urine, and blood. There is negligence on management's part to correct the problem. Windows are open, and holes on the floor; it's like having your most prized possessions in a barn, and paying for it! Insurance is a fraud. They know they have a rodent infestation problem, and sell you insurance that does not cover "vermin". How honest!
U-haul is a $2.047 billion company, that apparently does not care about their customers, or their lives. Soldiers who fight for freedom for this country, so that U-haul has such opportunity to be a Fortune 500 company, are going to come home to trash! Wow, what a way to treat our protectors. Pregnant women and children, working people, disabled people, are all being exposed to diseases, which can and will kill them. Heather **, general manager, said, "nobody ever gets sick from the mice". Well, for Heather: "That is because they die!" U-haul will not help, and will charge $500.00 to use the dumpster!

I have rented a storage unit, a 10 x 10 for more than two years. I was from time to time I would be late paying on my unit. For two years, their auction dates were on the 16th of the month. I know this because I would receive a letter and several phone calls to inform me of the auction date. I always managed to pay the late fees and current fees before the auction. The auction date changed in October 2012. I did not know this.
They sold my unit the morning of October the10th. I have been paying on my storage for more than two years, I have communicated with each new management; two weeks before they sold my unit, I had communicated with a female manager. I was not notified about the auction date being moved up. I lost a lot of money and some precious items that I will never be able to replace. I will never use U-Haul Storage unit again. The loss was that great.

My storage locker, C3, got broken into in Mesa Arizona and everything's gone. I had 30 years of my life in there and they didn't care at all. I had 40,000 in tools; that was my life and career, plus all off a 3000ft house of stuff and a collection of high dollar ham radio equipment. I didn't have insurance on the locker cause I didn't think I needed any with all the cameras. They even saw people in my locker that didn't belong there. I had tried to check on the locker on the worst phone system and even they e-mail their branch over and over to find out what happened. It took 2 weeks to find anything out. I called police for help and they said they could not help that the cameras were not working. Here, we paid $122.00 a month for this a year and I was never late on payment, and I am totally devastated. I moved to Michigan to help my parents who had health problems and trusted U-haul. I made a bad choice. U-haul is like the worst company on this planet.

I have rented storage from this location since 12/15/10 and have always paid in advance. This month I paid online as always on 9/10/11 and it appeared to go through fine. However on 9/16/11, I received a call from UHaul that they have not received payment. I called my credit card company and for some reason it hadn't gone through, so I immediately paid it which was no problem, no late fees.
However when I paid online, it took payment for the following month as well which it wasn't supposed to. I called the manager 3 times that weekend and Monday, 9/19/11, and left messages (with the agents) for him to call me back. I also sent 2 emails to him, and never got a response. I called also to reserve a truck for 9/22/11 to move my things out of my unit to West Palm Beach and mentioned that I wanted to talk about reimbursement for the rest of September and October. The agent told me to ask when I came in the 22nd.
Here's the problem, the manager said I had 5 days from the 15th to get my stuff or I don't get any money back. The unit was $132.45 and I had it for 6 days in September and I should have gotten $102 back as far as I'm concerned. I was told UHaul does not pro rate. Now, had the agent told me this at the time I called to reserve the truck and the manager what I wanted to do, I could have done things differently to not pay $102 for absolutely nothing. Had the manager responded as requested, to any of my 5 attempts to talk to him I could have there again done things differently to keep from getting screwed out of $102.
I'm unemployed and that's a lot of money to me. May I also say that when I called customer service at the 1-800 number, they were of absolutely no help as well as the regional manager. I was extremely upset.

This is a dangerous place to store personal items. New owners or managers have moved in and the lady refuses to call me to collect payment as I worked out with the original management team. This was what sold me on the space. Immediately before I was even aware of the new owners, they dinged my credit not even informing me in any way. Most companies at least will give a call before resorting to collections, but not Laura. Last month, she assured me that she would call before collections would happened, but then didn't.
When I called her today, twice she wouldn't tell me storage fees were due and I think they might be; but in both conversations she was more interested in putting a lien on my items than to tell me if I owe them yet so I could be responsible and pay them on time. I am now doing what I can to move my things out from this particular place since Laura is there, but that's a huge expense. I am really upset to have to take the time to do it just because this lady is so awful. Can't you get someone better? Becky was great and the lady after her was fine but this Laura is a wreck!

I rented a storage at this location in which I wanted a 10 by 10 and was given a too small storage which had not enough capacity for me to put my belongings. I then had to purchase another lock and get another storage which was also more money. Also at the time of renting the storage, I notice that locks have been cut off of storage units and the storage area was very dirty and storage units were open with people belongings in view. Also customer service is very poor and the manager is rude and makes sexual remarks of the female customers.
Also, they lock your storage before your payment is due, so you cannot have access to it. They locked my storage unit up twice once on July 2 and again on July 19. I have had no access to my storage unit. Since then I've been in two pair of shorts. Since then my father has passed away, I couldn't even get my insurance documents or clothes. This is very bad service. Also I saw roaches. There is never nobody around on the outside. Workers have their friends there with them talking to them when they are working. I even got locked in the gate for 15 minutes because no one answered the speaker and their card did not work, so on the 19th, there was no access to my storage until this day. Then they want there first month fee which is outrageous at 260.00 dollars and couldn't have access to it when the month was free at the time.
I think this is totally wrong. I found an apartment on the 20th and wanted to move out before then, and i couldn't because they wanted a payment, and the free month they advertise is not a true statement because they lock your storage 11 days before the first payment. Now they're talking about putting a lien on my personal belongings, and no letters or anything in the mail, this is said to me verbally.
I called customer service desk and it wasn't pleasing. I waited for a response back and no one ever called back. I had to call them and still no good response. This issue is really stressing me, which could lead to health problems. I need clothes and my personal paperwork.

Yesterday, IDES deposited a check on my debit card, and today I discovered U-Haul had made two unauthorized withdrawals from my debit card. I don't have any other money. Now, I realize I owe them for my storage space. However, what I have in my storage space is worth twice (or maybe even three times) the amount of money owed. I went to their office and not once was there an explanation on how they illegally withdrew money from my account. He went on to say that if I took the items from storage, he would refund the money minus late fees. While I do not mind paying those fees, the time he stated when I had to remove the items (which I do not have anywhere else to store) was by the end of business today and still there's no explanation as to why they illegally withdrew money from my account. I am now left with $5.00 in my account. If I had money to remove the items, they would have been removed a long time ago. Bottom line: I did not authorize money to be taken from my debit card.

He even said that another customer had the same problem and that the company did not help them because in the insurance you purchase, it states that it does not cover vermin.
