Complaint: I did a search on Google for the N565 Immigration form and the top ad claims to be the application for replacement and is not. The Ad says: "Citizenship Certificate Form N-565 Immigration Direct‎: Apply To Replace Lost Citizenship Naturalization Certificate Today!" When you click that you go to a page Desired Settlement. Once you go to the site from their ad you go to this page ** where it gives you information about what the document is for and a large button to start the application. From there you fill in log in information and then the next step it asks for payment info to do the citizenship application. The amount shown is $129.

It was less money than I expected to pay so I filled in the billing info and continued. It stated it would need to be filed by mail and when continuing to the document (expecting to print fill out and mail it), it begins asking questions about the application and once finished a screen that gives steps. "1. Read the Filing Instructions carefully.2. Sign and Date your U.S.C.I.S. Form(s) 3. Send your signed U.S.C.I.S. forms, application fees & supporting documentation to the U.S.C.I.S." Thought it was off because I already paid.

So I clicked on print to see the document and more information. The document pulls up and in the instructions is ways to send $345 with the form when mailing it in. I called the number on the same confirmation page and they said I paid the $129 to fill out and print the form. I explained that I can fill out the form myself. I just need the document. The first rep said because I clicked print they cannot refund me. She refused and was rude suggestion that it was written all over that it is a fee for filling out the document and that the page I was looking at states that it is for filling out the document.

After getting off the phone I did more searching and found that the form is free and can be printed and sent in. I also noticed that the receipt sent to me even stated that I was charged for the document and not a service. I searched on their site and found a small disclaimer at the bottom of the page stating they are not affiliated with the government (something not noticed before) and on other pages unrelated to what I was doing. They state they provide a service. But everywhere I was directed from the advertisement to the end of the form there was nothing stating what I was actually paying for. I called back for a refund, again spoke with a supervisor who was rude and told me I was confused and needed to pay more attention. She also told me that it is on the page I had pulled up while talking to her and I "was seeing what I want to see" despite the fact that it is not on the confirmation or receipt at all.

She will give me a refund of only 50% as a courtesy as she called it and stated the money was so I wouldn't report them or do a chargeback. I did not agree to that but did tell her to go ahead and refund it. They are using misleading wording and processes to get people to pay them before realizing what you are even paying for and then insult people and say they are just confused when confronted about it.

I thought this website was an online government service to apply for green card replacement. It appears to look like that down to the color scheme and the look alike government seal as part of a clever (scam), not knowing I registered and paid $149 for an application that is free, free!!! Notice how they make you pay first and by the time you realize it's not US Gov, it's too late. I tried to get my money back minutes later. I called and they connect me to the cancellation department, she said it would be $75.00 for cancellation fee because I click the process button. In reality it's not really process. I told them that's scamming, it's a ripoff. I complained to a so call manager who sounds like the girl next to her (notice how the time estimation to speak to an operator is perfect for every person I've been transferred to) and she told me they can only offer me another 20% off my own money which they stole, so they got me for $50. I mean they can do that!!! Well the government must be getting part of the profit otherwise why would they allow them to keep Scamming people out their hard earned money.

I got my application from immigration direct site and I paid for it. I didn't know there's a site where I can get the form for free and I need to renew my permanent resident card. I filled up the form and everything is ready, all I need is to pay the fee and the call center that works for immigration direct Canada asked me to pay the fee online and I did it 1st time and it didn't worked so I called them again and another call center asked me to put it again and yet again didn't work. I feel like I am being scam. I called for the 3rd time in 2 weeks and the call center female was I found really impatient to me, while I was explaining her about what happened and she told me to stop talking and just listen to her and that is very rude. I got their forms and they gave me a hotline# I can reach them anytime if I have any questions or I need some assistance but they were rude and very unprofessional.

I was expecting more for them since I paid for my application form that apparently I can get it for free in the actual CIC site. I am very disappointed about the service and the way they approached me on the phone. Definitely will not recommend them and will never use the site again.

After the form is filled and I found I need to pay the $450 fee to government, then I realized this was a scam. I called them and was told they can refund me half of the amount I paid. I said, "I do not need the service and thought it was official. I will go to the government site directly." They then said will charge me $29. I agreed. This place is a scam! Was told I needed to pay $150 for a fee of some sort. I told them I have a low income and needed a fee waiver, so they graciously lowered the fee to $100...wow that's nice right?! NOPE! Those fees do NOT go towards the filing fee! It's a service charge for their "assistance". Taking advantage of poor people is not nice, and not to mention that most of the customers can't speak English as well or can't properly use a computer. I called back for a refund and was given the run around. After much arguing, they reluctantly agreed to a refund...but who knows if they will honor that promise. This company should NOT be allowed to impersonate the immigration website and should make it very clear that they are not affiliated with them!

When I resumed my immigration application about 3 weeks ago, I realized that Immigration direct is not an official us immigration website as their name and all photos on their website suggests. I thought I was filling an electronic application. Then I realized that I paid $219 basically to fill up a questionnaire, not more. This questionnaire won't be electronically transmitted to any official administration as I thought it would. And you can find this questionnaire for free on other websites. We called them right away to get a refund but our claim was dismissed by the associate we talked to. How can we get a refund?

There was no mention that this was a different site. I went all the way through and upon completion realized that I just paid an extra $150. I called the customer service number and asked them why they were charging me extra money, and then at that time they told me that they were a service company that helps provide the forms to the people filing and then helps with filling out the forms and expediting the process.

I told them that the forms are free and that I don't need help filling them out and I would like to get my money back and they hung up on me. I called back and asked that person what they are going to do for me and I got the same answer and that I should have paid more attention to the web page name. It is expensive enough to renew a green card that you don't need any extra expenses.

Try to call and complain without getting any credit for these credit card fees. Besides, paying 2 x $450.00 each to the official U.S. government immigration service. We did not know that we were had until our interview last week by the US Immigration Service when we ask why we also had to pay www.immigrationdirect.com. They charged me $189.00 for nothing. I got some help from my employer/friend recently and that is when I was told that I paid the wrong company, NOT the real Immigration Dept.

When she tried to help me get my money back, they refused. All I want is my full refund back of my money $189.00. I paid thinking I was paying the real Immigration Department. I am a student and have been in the United States since I was a child. I am going to college and don't have money to waste. I went on this website to renew my Green Card thinking this was the official site (they certainly make it look like an official government website), since it was the first thing that pops up when Googling "green card". I downloaded the form thinking the $150 was part of the application process. In the meantime I changed my last name, revisited the website, and also talked to a co-worker who pointed out to silly me that this is NOT an official government website. It does say on the bottom of the site that they are not in very small print which I missed when I downloaded and printed the I-90 form. Unfortunately, I waited more than 90 days to call my credit card, so they could not do anything.

Immigration Direct's initial response to my e-mail requesting a refund was that they do not have my payment information. When I called, the representative just kept saying that the form has already been printed and the website clearly states that I-90 can be downloaded for free on the official government website, and the $150 is for their great services not just for the form. It is not the company’s fault if I don't read the small print. Feeling stupid and angry that these predators can just do whatever they please.

I thought I was on government site. I paid $150 for filing. I thought this was the official filing fee. This website is designed to mimic the government site and to trick the unsuspecting. The official filing fee is $450. With Immigration Direct, I have ended up paying $600. I agree with the gentleman from Brooklyn who was similarly tricked. This government should take this site down. The government site is perfectly straightforward. No one needs to go to immigration direct and pay $150 to file a simple form.

I called and requested a refund, but I was told I cannot receive one, because the services were explained to me. I was not informed that this was not the USCIS, if I had I would have immediately terminated the application process. After googling for "Renew Resident Card", I entered the entry for "Renew Permanent Resident - ImmigrationDirect.com". The site is titled, "Immigration*Direct - U.S. Immigration & Citizenship Form Services" with a US Flag and prominently displayed buttons for "Green Card Renewal, Apply for Citizenship, etc". Unfortunately, I did not read further down the page the statement that "Immigration Direct is not affiliated with the United States government..." Believing to be on an official US Immigration site, I pressed the button for "Green Card Renewal" which leads to an even more official looking page to start the application process for form I-90 and started a questionnaire about the immigration status.

Unfortunately, now the disclaimer was on small print, several pages down, and I proceeded with questionnaire without reading the fine print and then being charged first for a $149 application fee and then for card fee of $450. The application is available from USCIS for free. The whole site attempts to present as an official US government site and then charges for services provided for free by the US government. I have filed a complaint with BBB and my credit card bank. I am looking forward how these complaints will be resolved.

I was sucked into believing this was a Canadian Immigration website. Once I realized it was not, I called their number and spoke to Jon and he said I would receive a refund within 3 days. I called back and said I wanted an email confirming that, which I received within a few minutes. If everyone is scammed by this company, charge back the money through their visa account. The company would soon lose its merchant visa account and go out of business. The word "chargeback" is the one word they don't want to hear. It is the Achilles' heel of credit card scammers. If you phone or email them, make sure you include "chargeback" in the message.

Most credit company already knew this company is scamming. This company just scams people and every time you ask for a refund, they were always quickly willing to give you half of the refund. If you accept their offer, they'll still make money. Do not let it happen! Just dispute the charges like me. You'd get a full refund. It's never too late to dispute and get the full refund!

I went online today to find a printable form for renewing my Canadian permanent residence card. I clicked into a site that I believed to be part of the Canadian government immigration services and followed the directions there. I went through the entire process of paying $49 via MasterCard for a "form navigator service" that I still thought was part of the normal fee charged by the government to implement these kinds of applications. Then I filled out the entire online form and submitted it. This took me most of the morning. Upon completion of the online form, I was charged another $50 and was emailed a receipt with the heading: Citizenship and Immigration Canada. I wondered why I was paying a second fee, but assumed prices had gone up since renewing my card last time around.

Then I tried to print my completed application and couldn't do that. And I couldn't get to the next step in the process which involved filing the completed form. I finally telephoned the number provided on the website and was told by "John" that they were having a bit of trouble with their software and that he would send me my completed form as an email attachment. I waited. Nothing came. I called back and talked to "Jasmine" who said she knew about my case and they were still trying to solve it. She said I should have everything I needed by tomorrow morning. By this time, red flags were everywhere. I searched the company online and found the many negative posts on your website, so am adding my own. Looks as though I'm not the first to be taken in by this scam. I'm hoping somebody out there can do something about getting this company offline!

My page describes my travels abroad, but has NO mention of immigration, so I don't believe a human had actually read my web page and then emailed. A Google search for the emailer's name (Tony ** or Anthony **) has turned up nothing on this person, so I believe that this company has turned to anonymous bot spam technology to attempt to get more Internet exposure. See below email text (with my email address redacted):

"Hello, I wanted to shoot you an e-mail thanking you for compiling so much great information and links on your website. I've been trying to track down some great references and yours helped me out a lot! If you are still updating your page, I have a great link that is related to your site! The site is: www.immigrationdirect.com/foreign-entry-requirements-USA.jsp. This site could help make your page even more helpful for future visitors. I hope you find it as useful as I did. I wanted to file a green card replacement application. When I googled USCIS, Immigration Direct popped up first with the Statue of Liberty and Star Spangled Banner. I thought they were the official website of USCIS and started to file my application. After having answered a few questions, they charged me $149 for Form I-90. Thinking it was part of the application fee, I went on finishing the filing. Until I was charged $450 for the application, I realized I was trapped: I paid $149 to them for redirecting me to the USCIS website. Actually, I could have e-filed on USCIS.GOV for free.

Not having sunk in what had happened to me, I called them right away to ask for refund. The woman answered the phone said they can refund me half of the money. Thinking it was better than nothing, I agreed and didn't insist for full refund. After I hung up the phone, I googled Immigration Direct and found a lot of complaints against this company. What they have done is malice, using your heedlessness to rip off your hard earned money. Please be careful when you e-file any applications to USCIS, make sure you are doing it on uscis.gov instead of immigrationdirect.com.

Wow! Too bad I did not check the reviews about this company before they charged my credit card for $149. I see I am not the only one who made a huge mistake by listening to people on the phone who said, "You have less than 9 months left until your green card expires, so you have to fill out the application through us, so this way will be faster." No, it is not faster. My friend sent out an application a week later than I did and had the interview for citizenship the next day! The day of the test, I asked the judge about this website. She said, "We have nothing to do with them. Try to get your money back."

But it is not possible, it is too late. If you call your credit card company, they give you about 90 days to get your money back, but now it is more than 90 days. This company told me that the money I pay ($149) will be a part of the application fee ($680). It was not. I paid $680 in addition to the money they charged. Please be very careful with this website! I hope sooner or later, this website will face the judge, because it is really, really wrong to do this to people who have no idea about the process of application and who they have to pay money to. To get an application, just go on the government website and download it for free.

I would like to repeal a refund of $199 charges that have been applied to my account, from Immigration Direct. I believe that the following business "immigration direct" does not reflect the true immigration website, to apply and fill a form I-130 petition for relatives is free of charge at the immigration web site. To immigrate to USA, after search on Google for INS immigration site, the site of Immigration Direct pops out. Thinking I was dealing direct with immigration website, I started filling the questioner, but before I could proceed with name and address, I had to pay upfront.

Thinking it was the total fee for the form, I went ahead and gave my information, plus paid the fee of $199. After I finished filling the form, I still owe $420 to Immigration. I got suspicious about all these charges and I googled the information about Immigration Direct. This company has nothing to do with immigration. In fact, the forms are free of charge at immigration website. I came to the conclusion that this company is nothing but a scam after reading thousands of complaints about this company.

So I am requesting my refund because this Immigration Direct has nothing to do with immigration, and yes, to scam innocent people, thinking they are dealing with immigration issues at the valid immigration website, governed by the US government agency.

Also, the other thing is that the ImmigrationDirect completely changed its design on the home web page. It is no longer the same, when I filed the forms. It seems they are covering all their tracks, for legal reasons.

This website came on the first thing when I Googled "immigration." I was trying to apply for citizenship and this was what I came into. I was going through the process and thought this was a gov't website. It looked like one. And then it asked me to pay $189. I did not pay and shut off my computer. Less than 30 minutes, it called me and said, "This is calling from the immigration." I thought, wow, they completed things so fast. But I still didn't pay them. However, 2 days later, I called them back and thought I was ready to complete the application. I thought this was a real gov’t website/agency. So I talked to the guy, named Mark. People from this company have a strong accent, something like Indian accent. He walked me through the paying process and started asking for my credit card info. I first started with doubt and asked him, “Can I do this online by myself?” He then said, “It will take 48 hours to process. I can do this immediately.” I fell into that, and gave him the info.

I felt so regret after I hung up. I found out this is a scam. I called my bank immediately but could not stop the transaction. I called Mark again; he would not answer my call. So I used a different phone to call, then he answered! See! He kept asking why I wanna cancel the application. I have not done anything at all. Nothing. (Be assertive when you said you wanna cancel.) He then said he can cancel the service but this will cost me $29 refund fee. Fine, I will give it to them. He said it would take 2-3 business days to get my refund back. I am now scared that they will use my information and purchase other stuff online. So I called my bank and moved everything out of that account. Hopefully they will refund me. Otherwise, I will totally send a letter to the senate and other government agencies to report this company. Total scam. No one should fall into this trap. I hope this review help some people.

I searched by Google and I entered this website. I was misled and thought this is a government website and paid them. When I found this is not paying to CIC, I asked for a refund. They refused. I did not use their service but paid $49 for nothing. Their service maybe useful for a newcomer, but it's no use for me. I am applying my PR card for the third time.

When I did my research about this company, I realized they don't even have attorneys around like they told me they have. Biggest scam ever. I have no idea how this company is still in business. I am so absolutely, irrevocably, completely outraged. This website is such a deception and I am very interested as to how they have the audacity to scam students who barely have the money to give that they so greedily steal. My brother and I are both high school students waiting for the availability of the I-821 deferred child immigrant form. It came out today. I woke up early like an excited kid on Christmas to fill out the form and send it out, hoping to be one of the first applicants. I typed in the form number in the search bar and Immigration Direct came up right away, so I clicked it.

When I read that there was a $100 fee just to fill out the application for me and $100 for my brother, I was completely disheartened because we were short on money. So, I decided not to go through with the process until I had enough to pay for the fee. I had already logged out of the website when this thieving, conniving con artist who went by the name of ** called me, convincingly posing as a government immigrant official. As I replay the conversation ** and I had, in my mind I realize now that it was quite naive of me to fall for any of the slime slithering out of his mouth. But you have to understand that I am senior soon to be graduating and this form was my ticket to college, a job, a driver's license - a future. All of which was attainable to me before.

My hopes and excitement was elevated and I wasn't thinking clearly. I finally decided to ask for my mom's credit card (who knew exactly what was happening except that she doesn't speak English so she wasn't fully aware of his lies). We paid the $200 and he told us to wait for 48 hours just in case the application changes and we need to fill out some more questions (such ** I know). The conclusion, nothing happened. He lied. This company needs to be sued, the website taken down and guys like ** fired because he doesn't deserve to earn money by manipulating people's hope and trust. Nobody usually expects to be so openly robbed. I just hope that no one else has to deal with those, for lack of a better word, **.

I got a call from a rep named Roger who told me he would help me get a new green card which was lost in the mail. He told me that he's a USCIS official and even had my alien number. He said it would take 30 days to replace the card and gave me a quote amounting to $120, no additional fees. They charged my credit card $120. He told me not to worry; no other fees will apply as all fees were already taken care of and that includes the biometric fee. He did not tell me that they charged only for their service. Guess what? They charged me $120 for files that they sent to my email that you can get absolutely free from USCIS.gov. They charged my credit card faster than a rabbit. I want an attorney to look into my case.

Besides misrepresenting themselves and committing fraud by introducing themselves as government officials, they still have my files for a potential identity theft. What they are doing is federal offense. I hope that they do not sell it to terrorists, would not surprise me though. I have now reported them to three federal agencies. Someone has to shut them down to protect people from incurring damages. I have all the emails that this fraud sent me to suck all the money out of me as evidence.

And let all your friends and neighbors know about them. Be smart, don’t fall into this trap. I took the bait, you be smart.

I'm trapped like the other complainers. When I finished the application, I saw the scam. It was too late. The first thing I did was a stop payment on the transaction and filing a dispute with Visa. This scam must stop. It is a great idea to promote freedom of entrepreneurship. Freedom is the best way to create value. However, when someone uses his freedom to cheat publicly honest people, we can understand that more regulation and enforcement is needed. Please, shut this company down.

When I printed the forms and reviewed all instructions, I then realized that I had to send a processing fee of approx $800! I thought I had already paid a fee of $189. This was apparently for the form only which should have been free! There was no service provided for this fee; a terrible misrepresentation (con). I can only now warn everyone to not use this site.

Earlier this month, I wanted form I30 and when I put it in the search, Immigration Direct popped up looking exactly like a US Government site with US flag. It is very deceiving and misleading. It asked for credit card which I thought was for the filing fee so I put in the info. Halfway through, I realized that it was not what I wanted. I called Immigration Direct and asked for a refund which they refused. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was asked to leave a contact phone number and somebody would call me.

They did call back to say that they clearly state on their website 'no refunds'. I said I did not see it and I did not need their help filling out the forms which I had received from USCIS a few days prior. I was told they would give me back half of what they charged to my credit card. I refused and told them I would alert and dispute it through my credit card company. The dispute is still going on. How can this be happening in America? This company needs to be shut down and if possible, prosecuted. All the people that have been stolen from by this company should send a complaint to BBB. I will fight you Immigration Direct with all I have.

I stumbled on Immigration Direct thinking it was an official government site. They make it look that way and then claim that they don't. I clicked on forms and then on the I131 and the only option it gave was to file online for $90. You had to pay before you even saw what the form looked like. I paid with a credit card and it made the form available. I filled out the form and submitted it and all it did was return an incorrectly filled out form for me to download and print. It wasn't filing online at all. And the form had two mistakes that I noticed, maybe more. On one, it asked the question of how long you intend to stay out of the country and the answer was put in a different question when the form was returned for download and printing. Another was a misworded question on the date and it returned an incorrectly written date.

The form could not be filed in that state, so I got the original forms from the USCIS and filled them in myself and sent them off. I called Immigration Direct and got no answer. I emailed them and told them what had happened and that I couldn't use the forms they generated. I got no answer. Then, I submitted a complaint to my bank and Immigration Direct really came alive and sent in all kinds of lies and misleading information. They sent my bank a packet of material meant to mislead. Case in point. They sent a crappy faxed black and white image of their home page to prove that they were not trying to look like a US federal site. But the reality is the home page is a slickly polished and colored patriotic masterpiece. What a sham. They told the bank that I never tried to contact them and that is a lie. I could go on, but they are not worth it and you get the idea. Don't ever use them and warn people about them like I am doing.

I thought that this would be more convenient and proceeded with the process. Without realizing that the charges for the renewal are $149.00 plus the current government charges for the processing of an expedited passport renewal. I called the next day because the paperwork that I requested still had not been sent and they said to just be patient. It was 4 days later that I received it and then it said to include an additional check or money order for the renewal of $170.00.

I feel duped and also in review of other individuals on the consumer complaints that are similar there web site is very similar to government sites and i have filled out government forms before without this type of situation happening. I think that they are trying to get people into the process without full disclosure of the costs that will be charged and that additional charges will have to be met in the end.

After phoning them to ask for a refund, I knew it was a scam when they didn't even ask for any identifying information from me (it was my husband that made the online transaction). However, I then realized that I had to complete the true form and pay $480. That was when I realized I had been scammed. I called to ask for the money, my $149, back. They told me that they can only refund me $120, not the full $149 as they were charging a cancellation fee. I was surprised and I said that I barely started. They said that it is in the terms and conditions that I agreed when I started. I was to see a reimbursement within 5-7 days. Now its over 2 weeks and no refund yet.

Hence, I called to ask for the money ($289) back. They told me that they can only refund me $199, not the $90 for I130. I was surprised and I said that I barely started. They said that it is in the terms and conditions that I agreed when I started.

We looked up the terms and it did say that the money for I130 can't be refunded once started. Then, I said, "Okay. Then, please give me the form I130 since you, guys, are charging money for it." Yet, they said that they can't. What the **? So, they charged you $90 for nothing! Nothing! Not even a I130 form! I was like, at least, you gave me what's finished in the I130 form! I have just stupidly fallen into the same hole, wrongfully believing that this was an official government web site. It is not, but it is obviously set up and designed to look like one in my opinion. I blame myself also for stupidly trying to get this done in a hurry and not conducting the proper research.

I am going to be charged $130+ for the completion of a I90 form that was freely available on the government web site, which they will not even e-file on my behalf (you have to print and file it yourself in any case). This site seems to be deliberately set up to confuse people and I can't believe the INS hasn't got something to say about it. Even more concerning is that this company now has my INS #, my SSI #, my credit card details, all my INS details, and even my mother and fathers first names.

I have sent them a mail to cancel the service which I believe was advertised deceptively (I have no intention of being on hold for 1 hour like a previous poster), and if the charge hits my account, I will dispute it as much as I can with the credit card company. I will also lodge a complaint with the BBB.

Many clients of the official Immigration Services will not speak and read English as their first language and will be easily sucked in by Immigration direct (their website comes at the top of the Google list and looks very official).

One more thing, they have posted on their website and they state clearly that they are not a government website. This is obviously not the case according to me or the other posters on this page. I will add to these comments to let you all know how it worked out, but right now I am considering opening a LifeLock account. I wasted $130 on this issue.

Two months ago, I had already visited the USCIS site and knew that the I-90 forms to renew the green card could be filed online for a total cost (including biometrics processing) of $370.00. On July 16, I decided to do it because my green card is expiring next month. The most visible Google entry for "green card renewal" announces: "US Immigration Services" and below, in smaller type: "Prepare green card forms online. Complete all US Governmental Forms." I made a terrible mistake of assuming that www/ImmigrationDirect.com was an office of the USCIS to "directly" deal online with applicants. Inside, the ambiguous style continues, you have to go to the bottom of the page, in quite small letters, to read that "ImmigrationDirect.com is not a law firm or affiliated with the United States government."

They ask you to pay $129.00 as a "Preparation Fee" and warn that "Additional Government Filing Fees Apply." I interpreted the text as meaning that the $370 payment to the USCIS was split in portions, and that this initial payment was to start the procedure of renewing my permanent resident card for the second time (I have been a legal resident for 23 years). Only when the USCIS told me, afterwards, that they were withdrawing $370 from my VISA card, my suspicions grew. But that was too late.

What immigrationdirect.com does is to duplicate the task of filing a form, including a clear and straight one such as I-90. They get a form from the real governmental agency using your name (they do not claim to be attorneys or representatives, so getting and filing a form for me is a sort of impersonation) and fill the fields according to what I was answering to them. A completely useless and parasitic intermediation in handling forms that any person with a minimum literacy is able to complete by him/herself. They say that you may make errors which can delay the approbation of your application by the USCIS. Baloney!

The I-90 is perfectly clear. Not only that, as I explained to an employee, when I tried to answer question 4 of part 3, a drop-down menu appeared with closed answers. The applicant was prevented to type-in an alternative to the pre-established values. However, on the list for Florida, I was unable to find Miami, in spite of the fact that the headquarters of both the old IMS and the current USCIS for the state of Florida are located in Biscayne blvd, North Miami. The Biscayne place was the actual office I used for the adjustment of my status.

As a result, these genial advisors forced me to enter the closest geographic point in the list: Fort Lauderdale (20 miles to the north). And I still wonder how come other applicants may enter their answers if their adjustments of status were granted by a consulate outside the U.S. But forget it, this was not my experience.

In my case, I was prevented to change the "Fort Lauderdale" choice. At my complaints, Immigration Direct told me: "Don't worry, for this reason the USCIS is not going to delay the application process." It's wrong, boy, but no matter. Then, these guys made me to "review" my answers (and they displayed the real USCIS form) and had to sign online (for which they used my data). The form was filed to the USCIS under my name.

On my Visa card, two charges popped up, one for $129 (the garbage of Immigration Direct), another for $370 paid to the USCIS. And Immigration Direct has not accepted any of my complaints: "Your application is in proper course, we did our job." I fell in their trap as a stupid. I write this in hopes that more people may read and learn what these legal swindlers do, taking advantage of innocents or people too hurried to read the small letters and reaping lots of money in exchange of redundant tasks with zero added value.

ImmigrationDirect.com deceives and cheats applicants for US citizenship, specifically US permanent residents (those holding "green cards") into paying an exorbitant $149 fee by substantially representing the $149 to be a US Citizenship and Immigration Services (a government entity) application fee associated with the submission to the U.S. gov't of form N-400 "Application for Naturalization". For example, images such as an American Flag are depicted next to the ImmigrationDirect.com URL. The application fee is not clearly marked as being a fee to a commercial company for the service of generating an application form (rather than the U.S. gov't fee for processing the form). Applicants are misdirected to the ImmigrationDirect.com website after seeking the legitimate dot-gov URL.

At the end of the lengthy Q&A process, a long (26 pp. in our case) series of pages is presented to be printed. Buried in this is an N-400 application form completed with the private information that had been provided to the website -- for the highway-robbery sum of $149. The applicant only realizes (to his or her chagrin and indeed mortification) at the completion of the process that the "application fee" is fraudulent and will not cover any of the legitimate expenses involved in having the N-400 processed.

Now, this N-400 form can easily be completed by the same applicant without any cost whatsoever. The N-400 is available electronically, with detailed instructions, at the US CIS website where it is provided as a most-frequently-searched-form in Adobe Acrobat format, and can be electronically filled out at one's PC. Pivotal to this fraud, the actual application fee for the U.S. CIS to process the N-400 form is $675 (i.e. $526 over than the fraudulent $149 suggested by the ImmigrationDirect.com website).

Upon completion of the lengthy ImmigrationDirect.com dialog, it immediately becomes apparent that the $149 earlier remitted by credit card is being charged not to submit, but merely to print, the N-400 form. The consumer at this point becomes dissatisfied. He or she wants his or her money back.

In our case, we were deceived by the ImmigrationDirect website at about 11:25 EDT on a Sunday evening. Upon completion of the above-described process, we immediately attempted to rectify the situation. I emailed ImmigrationDirect. An e-mail reply was sent at 5:26 AM EDT. The email instructed me to call 1-415-, ImmigrationDirect's "Customer Care Number" during 9:00 am - 5:00 pm PDT.

Later that day, I telephoned, at 3:21 pm PDT. Immediately being placed on hold, and unable to reach a live operator at the ImmigrationDirect telephone number, I was told by a recording that I was the 7th caller in line. I was patient by any standard. Sixty minutes later, I was the 2nd caller in line. By that time, at 4:21 pm PDT, it was apparent that ImmigrationDirect was not planning to answer the line. Having devoted a full hour, I felt I had no choice but to terminate the telephone connection after a full hour.

I contacted my credit card company which indicates that ImmigrationDirect has placed the charge on a "pending" status, but has not yet "posted" the charge. The bank agrees that ImmigrationDirect is a scam. Once the charge is "posted," they will assist me in disputing the charge. It is abundantly clear that the ImmigrationDirect.com business model is based on deception. Applicants for adjustment of status from United States Permanent Resident to United States Citizen are "trolled" on the internet. Apparently, and this is true for us, it is possible for an internet user to be misdirected after correctly entering "uscis.gov" into the URL space in his or her browser to ImmigrationDirect.com.

If one is not extremely careful, as I regret to say, I was not on this particular occasion, it is not apparent that one has been redirected to a dot-com from a dot-gov website. How this occurred I cannot say, because we definitely went to uscis.gov to start with. The sly, underhanded, and deceptive web design employed by ImmigrationDirect.com is obviously meant to convey an impression that it is a US government (dot-gov) website, not a commercial (dot-com) website. The request for a $149 so-called "application fee" is intentionally deceptive in two ways.

Firstly, the legitimate fee for a US CIS application is also termed, per se, an "application fee. " So the putative applicant has no terminology to distinguish a bonafide application fee from this fraudulent application fee. Apparently ImmigrationDirect.com intends, as it were, the meaning of "application fee" as "a fee paid to fill out and provide a consumer with the form required to file an application. " Whereas the commonly used meaning of the term "application fee" in matters such as immigration (and other matters) is "a fee paid to the processor of an application, such as the US government, to cover the expenses associated with carrying out the legitimate tasks required to accept, review, authenticate, cross-check, verify, record, and issue the resulting documents associated with an application."

Secondly, the amount demanded $149 for this fraudulent "application fee" is large enough to seem to be in the proper range of what the US gov't might charge for processing the N-400 form. At the same time, the applicant might have heard elsewhere that the application fee is actually much larger than $149 (as stated above, it is currently $675) but not have studied the material he or she might have seen to this effect. Therefore, the applicant is induced subliminally to feel relieved that the fee is more affordable than originally suspected to be and be more willing to complete the payment forthwith. Were the fraudulent fee to be in the range of, say, less than $50, the applicant would realize that this could not possibly be the actual fee charged by the US CIS for processing the N-400 form. Alas, the legitimate cost is much higher than $149.

I would strongly advise any potential customer of ImmigrationDirect or FormsDirect (another name under which they apparently do business) to "abandon any hope, you who enter here." Do not remit funds or share personal identity-revealing data with the company. We are waiting for the ImmigrationDirect.com $149 charge to post to my credit card account. We are concerned regarding private identity data that was revealed to ImmigrationDirect.com, but no damages so far.
