State Farm has delivered the worst insurance experience I’ve ever encountered. A contractor insured by State Farm made a clear installation error that caused one of my rooftop HVAC units to burn up. State Farm confirmed the contractor was covered, yet after over ten months, they still claim my file is “under review.” My tenants have no heat, and State Farm repeatedly avoids calls, emails, and accountability. Only after I provided their own certificate of insurance did they admit coverage. Nearly eleven months later, I still have no answers. Absolutely unacceptable company to work with.

Updated on 11/25/2025: Went to pick up my car today after writing the first review and "WOW"! The State Farm adjuster declined to pay the full amount owed to the body shop! I had to pay the difference owed! Over $2,000.00!!! to get my car back! I called State Farm to see what happened and was told the body shop I used wasn't in their network, so any differences are on me! Let this be a lesson for everybody about buying a policy from State Farm! I am now filing a complaint with the Arizona Department of Insurance! Signing up with a better insurance company this week! The cheaper rates will allow me to make up my losses over time if I lose the complaint? FYI

Original Review: Had hail damage on 10/12/25 and made the claim on 10/30/25. Rented a car the same day. Local body shop submitted their estimate and was paid 11/4/25 and 11/7/25 for additional damage found. My car was repaired and ready for pick up on 11/18/25. Local appraiser Daniel was informed via email car was ready for his inspection. As of today's date (11/24/25), Daniel has not responded to any request, leaving me hanging! Needing my car back and the body shop refusing to release it without payment, I had to call the local Police to attempt to get my car back as it was being held hostage for payment! By now, my rental car had ended and was due back! (11/21/25) I made at least 4 phone calls to the Statefarm claims department requesting my case be completed so I can get my car back! Nothing accomplished! Well, time for a new insurer! My two cars are $370.00 a month!!!!! Do your reviews about the claim process before using SateFarm!

Our agent is amazing. But filing a claim is an absolute nightmare. No one returns emails or phone calls. I had to reach out to my agent to get connected every time. The preferred shop that they recommended was awful. They had my car two weeks. No estimate and when I questioned the owner he was extremely rude and said to just come get the car because he was busy. The amazing customer service provided by my agent does not carry over unfortunately.

I paid for 6 month contract. Many things went wrong on their end with payments from my bank account in limbo so There were times I had to pay double. Along with terrible customer service, while being left with no answers as to why certain things were happening with my account. I tried several times to work with them because who wants to cancel their insurance in the middle of a contract plus the consequences of being without insurance when you have a LIEN HOLDER ARE EXPENSIVE!!!

I was hung up on, disrespected when I asked for chain of command so that i could go through the proper avenues to rectify what had been mishandled with my case in turn costing me hundreds of dollars because of what Mike **'s office did to me. So when I decided to no longer continue with my contract to another 6 months after being a customer for about 3 and a half yrs.

In September 16 2025 I asked to finish paying in full to end their services. October 15th was my end date so that would give me enough time to find new insurance. I paid and in retaliation because I was telling them where they had failed to keep me as a customer. They in turn CANCELED MY INSURANCE SEPTEMBER 26TH. But get this they're also claiming it was done the same day. YET I received a refund check weeks after in the amount of $45 because they had overcharged me when I wanted to finish paying off what I owed them for said 6 month contract. So then I get a letter that says I have a policy with them that started September 26th. Imagine my Surprise because I bought new Insurance by Oct 12th. So I called to see if it was an error and to get things straightened out. I was informed that my I had been uninsured since September 16 of 2025!!!!

I am a CNA. I don't make that much money. Now my Bank is Charging me their Insurance lapse fees in the HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS !!!😭😭😭 I don't know what I am going to do to weather this storm until Someone can help me make this right!! I paid everything I was supposed to, did everything right. They messed up and wouldn't help me. Mike ** refused to tell me how to get this problem addressed. He even hung up on me. I no longer wished to address the situation with them. I just wanted to get the help I needed. Posted picture. I am now going through BBB And will possibly be forced to file a civil suit to get the money I have to come up with or the bank will repossess my car. 🤕🥹😭 I did not ask to be left without insurance. They did it on purpose because I complained and wanted to report their actions.

Despite this acknowledgment, State Farm approved a rental van for our use. However, after the claim was filed, State Farm informed us that they would not cover the majority of the rental expenses. Furthermore, the claims representative, Karla, exhibited unprofessional and rude behavior throughout the process. Horrible! Paid extra for roadside assistance. Used it 4 times over a 3 year period d/t battery dying. Received email stating they were dropping me and would no longer insure my cars due to "too many claims". I had no claims other than roadside assistance. They gave me no warning that this would happen if I used the service I was paying extra for. I would have just kept my AAA policy instead of paying for State Farm's scam if I realized they expected you to pay them but not actually utilize their service. Their loss. I will probably buy a new car within the next year or so because of the problems I've had, and I bundle my home and 2 cars, so I switched everything to another insurer. We have been with State Farm for just a couple months and it has been a hassle the entire time. They are refusing to acknowledge that our situation has changed from the previous provider we had, nationwide. They have multiple people listed on our coverage and 4 of those are the same person just a different variation of the name. Even after multiple documents submitted proving the names are wrong and that we only have 2 people that are using the cars they still want to fight us and claim several people on our coverage.

I’m not sure where the confusion is but we shouldn’t have to give the same information week after week just for them to cover as many people as they can find for no reason. My mom even has her own insurance and they still want to add her to our coverage using different variations of her name and claiming it as multiple people, my grandpa has been deceased for 6 months and they are using variations of his name and claiming it as multiple people. People that don’t even live at our house anymore they are still adding to our coverage when in fact and truth there should only be 2 people on the coverage and right now there is nearly 10.

DO NOT Trust State Farm – They’ve Become a Complete Rip-Off. I’m beyond disappointed with my experience as a State Farm customer. What they advertise and what they actually deliver are two completely different things. Their actions show no honesty, no accountability, and zero concern for the customer. I was involved in an accident and instead of supporting me, State Farm did everything they could to avoid paying for the repairs. They’ve made excuse after excuse, lied, gaslighted, and dismissed my concerns. Their customer service is nonexistent, and they clearly do not honor their mission statement.

As a result of their negligence, my vehicle has been stuck in the repair shop. Even worse, they told the shop to stop working on my vehicle, leaving me without transportation or a clear path forward. Meanwhile, they expect me to keep paying my monthly premium like nothing is wrong. State Farm appears to exist only to take your money, not to support you when it matters. There’s no compassion, no communication, and no justice. I am disgusted, livid, and exhausted by this experience. Please think twice before purchasing any policy from State Farm. They are no longer the trustworthy company they claim to be. If you ever need them to step up and do their part, don’t be surprised when they turn their back on you.

A new policy was set up with my and my mother's name. The premiums were taken out of my mother's checking account. A refund was issued due to the cancellation of the prior policy and this was deposited into my deceased sister's bank account. She had no money in her account and I cannot get access to this money. I have spoken with two different agents about a dozen times. I am told that nothing can be done since the money went into a bank account. This money would help our 85 year mother living on a fixed income. I understand the complexity of the situation but this is horrible customer service.

This entire experience with State Farm has been a never-ending nightmare. Even if it eventually stops, the damage is done — the stress, frustration, and the feeling of being treated unfairly will last forever. The appraisal process was deeply unprofessional and biased. The appraiser was not objective, and instead of doing his job properly, he delayed, procrastinated, and retaliated for being challenged on his conduct. Instead of following manufacturer safety standards, he attempted to pressure me into accepting unsafe shortcuts.

Specifically, the appraiser tried to convince me to accept a used steering gear in place of the brand-new OEM part that BMW itself requires after a tie rod and steering system are damaged in a collision. This is not only unsafe but also impossible to guarantee — a used steering box cannot be programmed properly, and no one can vouch for its integrity after an accident. The appraiser’s behavior created unnecessary conflict, caused significant delays, and placed me in a position where my safety and the safety of others on the road were compromised.

It is clear that the priority was to save money for State Farm at any cost, even at the expense of safety and compliance with BMW’s written protocols. This conduct is unacceptable for any insurance company, but especially for one of the largest insurers in the country. I have been left without a safe repair for months. I have called, emailed, and left messages with no response. State Farm made verbal promises, only to reverse them later. Their representatives contradicted each other, and their lack of accountability has turned this into a nightmare that no consumer should ever face. State Farm has completely lost my trust. Their actions are not only unprofessional, but dangerous. This company does not stand behind its promises, does not respect manufacturer safety standards, and does not treat claimants with fairness or good faith.

Ok, I got that but who will give me my money back for those 10 days. So …. I ended up having double coverage for my cars from 2 different insurance companies for 10 days. I had comprehensive coverage, which should pay for the damage caused by hitting a deer. Beside the dents and scrapes, the only operational damage was a single malfunctioning high beam. State Farm declared the vehicle totaled, and allowed me to retain it, paying me only the scrap value. The value assessment, using comparable (?) vehicles - not a single one of my home state - seemed questionable.

A quick scan of Auto Trader showed a dozen vehicles of similar data with price tags double the ones listed by State Farm. Some of the information provided in this assessment for my vehicle, such as dates of inspections and maintenance performed, was obviously taken out of thin air, because it was stated false or could not have been obtained at all, since the work was done by a private mechanic, not in a shop. More than 3 months after the incident the totaling of the car had not been reported to DMV, so the scrap payout was not justified. The vehicle has been repaired and passed in inspection with flying colors.

The claims process with State Farm is completely unfair. I was rear-ended by one of their insured drivers while slowing down to safely turn into my home. Despite this, I was told by their agent that I am partially at fault. Their reasoning? A so-called “witness” who was driving behind the insured (and could not have possibly seen what actually happened) claimed otherwise.

The reality is simple: I was slowing down for a legitimate reason, and their driver was following too closely and not paying attention. I cannot control that. Yet, instead of holding their driver accountable, State Farm is trying to minimize what they pay by blaming me. I will never use State Farm, and I will warn everyone I know to stay away. So my car insurance went from $100 to $70 with $25 in life insurance. So it seemed like a good deal. However when I cancelled my car insurance they didn't cancel the life insurance. And when I tried to cancel the life insurance I had to submit a cancellation form in person, which was denied 3 times for various reasons. I have had a very disappointing experience with State Farm and will never be using them again. When I first signed up, their rates were competitive, but over time, my premiums were repeatedly increased without a clear explanation. In addition to the rate hikes, I received frequent, persistent calls from my agent trying to sell life insurance. After months of these calls, I finally agreed to a policy. However, due to an error on the agent’s end, the paperwork had to be amended. The amendment form was supposedly mailed to me, but it never arrived. Despite multiple calls to address the issue, I was simply told it “must be stuck in the mail.” A couple of weeks later, I received a letter stating my life insurance policy was canceled for not signing the amendment — something I couldn’t do because I never received it.

Not long after, my auto rates went up yet again, so I switched to another company with better rates and service. Upon canceling my auto policy, I was owed a refund of approximately $248. State Farm claims they mailed the check on July 16, but as of August 5, it still has not arrived. When I called my agent about it, he was rude, dismissive, and told me he “can’t control the mail.” Instead of offering to promptly resolve the matter, such as canceling the original check and issuing a new one, he refused to look into it further.

It is concerning that the only mail I seem to be “missing” in such a short timeframe has been from State Farm — once regarding my life insurance and now for my refund. Between the unexplained rate increases, unprofessional behavior from the agent, and failure to ensure I receive funds owed to me, this has been one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. I've been loyal for 6 Years no claims and 1 accident and 1 windshield claim they dropped me and Lied about me being at fault for a rear end accident while I was waiting at the traffic light to turn green.

Does not honor their word; do not care about patient wellbeing; back tracks and refuses to pay for services approved. The first agent (Lachadsyde **; fax **) will approve after months of delaying pt care, stating did not have paperwork yet a week later states has a lot of documents to go through yet. The documentation she had requested had been sent in the first two faxes that she did not read. Finally after months of delaying vital pt care I had to follow up and she clearly stated payment is in route. Patient was treated and then get denials for codes that had been listed and defined. When calling the adjuster was switched to another agent (Alex ** ext **). When I spoke to him I was informed there was nothing he would do as it was another adjuster that had approved.

This is my second homeowner's insurance claim. Due to all the recent rainfall, I filed a claim because parts of the slat foundation my house is on are damaged. I contacted a company that specializes in leveling foundations. My house is four inches off from another part. I received a quote approximately $11,000 to $12,000. I have sent emails and taken pictures; the corner of my living room floor has water damage. I contacted a plumbing company and they fixed 2 spigots and the pipe. I paid $869 that I didnt really have. Now some bills will be late getting paid.

I kept checking the claim status online. My husband mentioned that they have tried contacting him, but he works long hours, mostly seven days a week, and cannot answer calls. Since I cannot get someone on the phone, I emailed claims asking them to contact me, as I am the one who filed the claim. However, it has been weeks, and today I received a call from Brandon ** who left me a message. I called him back, but he didn't answer, so I left a message. I called him again later in the day and left another message. He has not returned my call. Now, when I go online, my claim is closed. I called him towards the end of the day wanting to know why it's closed, but there was still no callback.

The first homeowner's insurance claim I submitted years ago was due to a severe storm, possibly with a tornado warning in Rome, GA, which brought powerful rain. It damaged the fiber cement siding; some cracked, some fell off. I submitted the claim with pictures, and the next day, I received a phone call from a claims representative. He asked if this was my first claim, and I said yes. He stated that he had reviewed my claim but it could not be approved. I asked why, since my siding is damaged due to the weather, and he said that unless a tree falls on my house, then they can do something. I was infuriated. I had to get financing to pay for the siding, and I did my roof at the same time. I am still paying for it. In summary, the homeowner's insurance with State Farm is unsatisfactory. I'm going to look for another company. They are eager to take your money but when you need help, they seem indifferent.
