State Farm’s claims process is tedious and a waste of time. After filing a claim, State farm agreed to pay for repairing our roof but not replacing it. We sent them evidence, including an Engineering report, proving that our roof could not be repaired. They decided it did not matter, even though they had agreed to have the report done. I have been with State Farm for 31 years. They are great until you need them. I would stay away, and now I am going with another insurance company.

I had my house insured since 1992 with State Farm, so several months ago some shingles blew off the roof and I fixed them myself. I have done Construction most of my life, including shingling several roofs myself. They wanted a contractor's invoice as proof that the roof was repaired. I told them I repaired it myself, and I would send pictures, so they said send them at their number, which I did. I thought that was the end of it until I recently got a letter saying my insurance was being canceled because I did not show proof that the roof was repaired, so it's been canceled, and I'm in the process of finding another company. I would not recommend them to anybody. I had been a faithful customer with no claims for all of those years on my house and cars, and they treated me like this, so if you're considering State Farm Insurance, forget it. And in case you're interested, my agent's name is Devin ** in Southern California.

I had State Farm liability insurance and another driver hit my car that has State Farm full coverage. I made a claim even though I only had liability and the other driver made a claim the same day which was the next day after the accident. They call me 10 days later and tell me that they're dropping my claim because I only had liability trying to make me feel as though the other driver wasn't going to have to pay because I only had liability. I had to purchase the crash report to find out that it was their insured that had hit my car, And by their own admission they had knowledge of the incident since the 23rd of February and they try they dismiss my claim on the 5th. The months were February and March. My bad but this is May now and they still are not wanting to pay me for my property.

They claim they did not receive my documents for two and a half weeks and then they said they only received one of the documents even though the documents were stapled together in the same envelope so I had to redo the other document and send it again and they should have received it today but I still have not heard from them. I can't wait to hear what their excuse is and why they cannot pay me to even now. It seems that they are bound and determined to not pay me for my property because I only had liability but the accident was not my fault. I was not even in the car but it was not the driver of my car's fault either. It was their insured but I was insured by them and then they have since then ghosted me, denied receiving documents. They have done everything that they could to not pay me. Worse insurance company to ever exist.

I recently had to deal with a minuscule windshield chip—no bigger than a penny—and the experience with State Farm’s corporate service was a total nightmare. First, I tried using the website to submit the claim, but it kept throwing errors and wouldn’t let me finish the process. When I called customer service for help, I was shuffled around like a number, being transferred 4 different times. To make matters worse, I specifically requested a Spanish-speaking representative, but none were ever available to help me. It took over an hour of phone tag just to book a simple appointment for a tiny chip. The only reason this isn’t a 1-star review is because of Safelite. Once the appointment was finally set, Safelite handled the repair smoothly and professionally, as they always do. State Farm really needs to fix its broken website and provide better support for its customers. A simple repair shouldn't require an hour of my life and four different agents.

I have been with State Farm for 3 years. I have 3 cars, a house and a balloon policy. We were recently told that SF is canceling our Auto insurance due to a recent claim on one of my vehicles. Had I known that claims to have 2 windows replaced from rocks coming off other vehicles, I would have paid the roughly $1000 out of pocket to fix my car. However, I would not have guessed that window replacement would have factored into their decision. Lessoned learned, if repairs are minor, just fix it. I will be moving all of my policies to another company and based on this (and my appeal was denied), I would never recommend this company to anyone.

Greed, manipulation, bully tactics, and complete disregard for customers and their well being accurately describes my experience with State Farm auto coverage. State Farm’s real corporate mission statement is “our #1 goal is to protect State Farm’s financial health and growth, our customers are on their own”. I had State Farm auto coverage for two car accident claims where I sustained serious medical injuries. State Farm handled my first claim with immediate action and frequent communication which reduced my anxiety about need for medical treatment. Unfortunately my relief was presumptuous. State Farm focused their effort on pressure tactics to healthcare providers for immediate bill payment for the Drs. agreeing to large price reductions for treatment. This continued until my doctors made it clear my injuries were catastrophic and would exhaust the full medical insurance money I had.

Following that State Farm made medical payments on anything submitted. This led to my losing half of the funds to get medical treatment due to an unethical Dr. filing obviously fraudulent claims. As The second accident was complicated and injurious to me. State Farm used every tool in their toolbox in order to deny, delay, and intimidate my claim and the medical payments and reimbursements weren't I had paid for over fifteen years.. Long story short their practiced and highly experienced adjusters and legal reps beat me down and caused me major financial,, emotional, and medical repercussions that I am still dealing with. Think twice about hiring this outfit.

We've been dealing with this company for over six weeks following a car accident, and the experience has been an absolute nightmare. They declared our car “totaled” but refused to let us take it to our own mechanic for verification. Instead, they had it towed to the furthest State Fair repair shop possible — clearly a move to make it harder to get independent quotes.

When we provided multiple comparable listings showing our vehicle’s actual market value, all $5–8K higher than their payout offer, they basically shrugged and said, “Oh well.” To make things worse, they warned that if we went to arbitration, the value could be lowered — which came across as a thinly veiled threat rather than a fair process.

After more than 20 years with this company — insuring our home, vehicles, RV, and UTVs — this is the breaking point. Their lack of transparency, fairness, and basic customer respect has completely destroyed our trust. We’ll be taking all of our policies elsewhere and would strongly caution others to think twice before doing business with them.

Working with Rosie ** at State Farm Total Loss Department has been one of the most upsetting and frustrating experiences I’ve ever had during an already stressful situation. From the beginning, the communication felt dismissive and careless. I was given a strict February 6, 2026 deadline to accept the total loss settlement — which I met. Only after complying was I informed that there was no agreement in place with the repair shop and that additional days were needed to “figure out” storage and vehicle release. That failure to disclose critical information caused unnecessary delays and mounting storage fees. Throughout this process, I felt unheard, disregarded, and treated as though my time and financial burden simply didn’t matter. There was no urgency, no ownership, and no proactive effort to resolve issues that were entirely within the company’s control.

When someone is dealing with a total loss, they are already vulnerable and stressed. The way this was handled added avoidable anxiety and financial strain. Professionalism, transparency, and basic accountability should be standard — but that was not my experience here. If you expect clear communication, follow-through, and respectful treatment during your claim, be prepared to advocate aggressively for yourself. Extremely disappointing and unnecessarily distressing experience.

My husband and I have been with State Farm since 1974 and I can tell you right now they have become one of the greediest companies ever. They don’t care that you’ve been a great customer with minimal claims. The only thing they strive to achieve is to give their CEO a 27% increase Bonus at the end of the year. In order to do that, they raise individual rates every 6 months even doubling coverage. They use scare tactics to keep you from reporting minor claims with double cost of coverage or cancellation. It’s very discouraging to know when you do everything right someone takes advantage and brutalizes you.

This has been the most horrible experience I’ve had in any situation. An uninsured driver totaled my vehicle and State Farm left me with 0 transportation after all was said and done. I pay for several thousands of dollars in coverage and not only did they total a drivable vehicle with rear body damage, which was salvageable per the mechanic, they are leaving me without transportation until I can purchase a new vehicle. I attempted to negotiate and explain it takes more than a week to get a vehicle, they will not allow me to keep the rental another 3 days despite my coverage being up to 1500 for a rental. Their policies are predatory and I ended up having to hire an attorney for the bodily injury claim as I am afraid State Farm will deny the claim.

I am now having to pay even more money to get to work because State Farm is refusing to provide reasonable accommodation on a rental vehicle. This does not include the numerous problems I’ve had with their brokerage a. Not running payments when authorized resulting in us paying 2-3 months of the insurance upfront b. A card declined and no notice being given except a policy cancelation with an additional $97 fee tacked on and c. Not running the payment that was given in December resulting in yet another double charge in January.

I have had severe neck and head pain since this accident and I will now be losing 3 days of work because this insurer refuses to grant another 3 days on my rental ahead of my replacement coming in. I pay a significant amount of money for this protection and assurance if the worst should happen and it did. I have paid 150$ a month for 5 years for this company to turn around and total my vehicle and tell me to figure it out myself when I require another 3 days with a rental even after expressing the need to have a vehicle to get to my job and seek treatment. They simply do not care.

After 15 Years with State Farm, I’ve Never Felt More Disrespected. If there were a zero-star option, I’d choose it. I’ve been with State Farm for over 15 years, and I used to speak highly of them — but the way they’ve handled my recent claims has been appalling. I’ve now had two separate claims — one for my totaled car and one for a life insurance policy payout — and both have been a nightmare.

The auto claim has involved constant runarounds, misinformation, and flat-out falsehoods. I notarized and signed all required documents in person, even had the mileage entered with the notary present, and was later told the forms were “incomplete” or “not received.” Then they said they needed a second set of Power of Attorney forms — something they never disclosed when the process began. Their own agent admitted it was an internal communication failure, yet I was the one penalized for it. They’ve had multiple agents working on the file, and no one seems to communicate. I sent in my ID promptly, yet was later told it hadn’t been received — only for the agent to call back and admit they just missed it because too many people were working on my case. That’s not an excuse — that’s disorganization.

As for the life insurance policy, that’s even worse. I was never informed that one of the forms wasn’t accepted. No follow-up. No phone call. No urgency. I had to chase them down for updates, only to be treated like a nuisance — like I was asking for something that wasn’t mine. This is money owed to me, and yet I’m being made to feel like I’m the burden for daring to follow up.

At this point, I feel like they’re just holding my money hostage, hoping I’ll stop asking. It’s deeply disrespectful — not just to me, but to anyone trying to navigate grief, a loss, or a financial hit after an accident. Their claims department is either completely overwhelmed, undertrained, or just doesn’t care. And after years of paying them faithfully, this is what I get?

I would seriously urge anyone reading this to think twice before signing up with State Farm. This company has gone downhill fast. The customer service is disjointed and dismissive, the claims process is filled with delays and finger-pointing, and if something goes wrong — even when it’s their fault — they’ll make you feel like the problem. You’re better off looking elsewhere. I say that as someone who genuinely used to believe in this company. Not anymore.

Along with terrible customer service, while being left with no answers as to why certain things were happening with my account. I tried several times to work with them because who wants to cancel their insurance in the middle of a contract plus the consequences of being without insurance when you have a LIEN HOLDER ARE EXPENSIVE!!!

In September 16 2025 I asked to finish paying in full to end their services. October 15th was my end date so that would give me enough time to find new insurance. I paid and in retaliation because I was telling them where they had failed to keep me as a customer. They in turn CANCELED MY INSURANCE SEPTEMBER 26TH.
