In May of this year, we had received a call from a Nationwide Sales rep, Crystal, regarding a renewal of our auto policy. After review & subsequent reductions in coverages, we asked Crystal about adding our newly licensed daughter to the policy. She indicated that she would send out quotes for approval & signatures pending on her report card & good student discount. We requested to renew the policy with said reductions for approximately $55 per month. On May 28th, we had sent Crystal an email indicating that we had not received our daughter's latest report card & to renew the policy with reductions as discussed.
On July 6, we noticed that our policy had increased to over $165 & auto payment was deducted from our account. Crystal was unresponsive to emails so after multiple calls to the sales & customer service dept, we were told that any licensed driver in the household would be covered under the policy without an exclusion. We indicated that were were not provided with this unknown policy & non-disclosure of this information & changes to our policy without permission should be taken into consideration. After several more attempts to resolve this issue, we decided to cancel the policy & submit a BBB complaint regarding Nationwide's deceptive, inappropriate sales practices & they were unable to provide a resolution. We have also received a credit for the automatic deduction from our bank which the bank agreed the policy change & charges was inappropriate, especially since they were enacted without permission.
We have now received another bill from Nationwide requesting approx $206 in fees & threats of collection & hope to enlist your assistance in resolving this matter. I have asked Nationwide's representatives to review the recordings that they acquire regarding our conversations with Crystal in our BBB complaint & other phone inquiry, but only receive inaccurate statements & policy requirements in their decision.

I cancelled my car insurance policy with Nationwide and at the same time, opened a new policy with Geico for less money. I received a notice of money owed from Nationwide in the amount of $72, saying that if I could prove that I had a new policy in place prior to the end of my existing policy, this fee would need not be paid. I presented this info and then heard nothing from them until I received a notice of collection from a collection agency. I spoke with a collection representative and he told me that it's not good enough to have a policy in place on the same day, but you must have 2 policies at the same time. This is **! You do all the right things and still get penalized. I'd like to know how I can get around paying this. It is absurd. This country is going to the dogs. These insurance companies are getting away with murder and I refuse to be taken like this.

Total loss of a 2003 Honda Civic EX. Nationwide lowballs the valuation using ccPathway or NADA values or whatever systems that dealers would use for example to lowball you on a trade. Still haggling with them with little success. Their response is very slow, taking more than a week to get back with me for a valuation and then rush me to accept because they don't want the wrecked vehicle staying where it is because they are being charged a storage fee. If I'm going to get screwed on a valuation, it can sit there as long as it takes as far as I'm concerned.

I was in a car accident in April 2009. I was hit by another driver who also had Nationwide, but he had very limited insurance. I come to find out, after I was rushed to the hospital and still continuing therapy today, that I cannot sue for pain or suffering due to the fact of me having limited liability. But when I bought my car back in 2005, the guy who sold me the car called his "friend" from Nationwide and signed me up without physically talking to the agent, or me, and what coverage I wanted. I was 21 at the time. I had no clue on what any coverage was about, nor did I know what limited or full tort was. All I remember was the dealer giving me papers and saying, "Sign here for coverage and you’re good to take the car today!"
Well, nobody talked to me from Nationwide to explain different coverages and gave me the least expensive, least coverage on myself, and now I'm screwed. As far as I know, they just wanted to get paid and took advantage of me because I was a 21-year old female. Yes, I did sign the papers for limited, but this was thrown at me and they pushed me out the door so they could just get a fast sale.
Please, if you read this, don’t be scammed by Nationwide. You should speak to someone about coverage and know what limited and full tort is. Oh, not only that, they low-balled me on my totaled car and refused any receipts to prove the car's value. And they took 2 months to send me my check and only gave me a rental for 3 1/2 weeks. I had to take a bus to my therapy and when I finally got the check after paying my loan off on the other car, I only had 2k for a new car. I could seriously go on more about this company, but I'm just getting upset.

My vehicle was hit by a Nationwide insurance holder. The car was fixed, a rental car was provided but when it came to diminished value, they gave me only $1500. My vehicle was in mint condition. If I were given the choice of a wrecked vehicle or a mint condition vehicle, I would pay more for the mint condition one. It is on CarFax as damaged.

In late July, 2008, an automobile forced another automobile into my parked truck, which I was away from at the time. My car was driveable at the time but when I started it up, the ABS light came on. I did not know what an ABS light was until the body shop explained it to me. The body shop repaired everything except the ABS sensor, which they were not equipped to do.
They told me to take it to my dealership to have it repaired. I took it to the dealership and they fixed it, but neglected to tell me that the accident was not the cause of its damage. The right front tire where the sensor is located was heavily damaged,so I don't know how they arrived at their conclusion which I did not find out about until May 2009. After repeated calls to my agent at Nationwide, he kept giving me the runaround for the next nine months.
In fact, he wanted me to do the legwork for him. Finally, on May 13, 2008 I got a legal recovery letter from Nationwide stating that I would not receive money for having the sensor repaired, no money for out-of-pocket expenses for car rental, and no money in getting my deductible back. I have been with Nationwide Insurance and the agent for twenty-five years, in which I have had very, very, few claims on the two policies I had with Nationwide,--auto and homeowners.
I paid all my policies on time and usually at six months to a year, at a time. This agent was too lazy to undertake the legwork to get pictures of the accident taken when the accident occurred, or to visit the dealership where the sensor was fixed. In fact, the agent put me off when I told him that I needed more insurance to cover the house since he had not done an appraisal in the past twenty-five years!
Do not believe for one second that Nationwide is on your side! Their commercials are absolute disgusting and untruthful. I was with Nationwide for twenty-five years and was treated like this. How do they treat customers with less time with them? Most assuredly, not too well! Do not buy insurance from Nationwide!

I have been a loyal customer of Nationwide Insurance 20 plus years without a claim of any kind. My insurance lapsed due to an insight. I paid it ASAP when it was brought to my attention. Then, without any warning, Nationwide said since my insurance lapsed and I lose all my benefits. This means my policy was raised about $500. I spoke to a Mr. **, explained the whole story to him, and he sent me a letter basically detailing what I said here. But he did say that my insurance would be the new price. After many phone calls to him, which he did not answer, I’m now trying this method to be heard. I have spent in twenty years over $40,000 with not one claim and now I need to get robbed.

On April 1, 2009, I was rear-ended by a Nationwide policy holder. I went to the ER that night to be checked out. I had a sprained neck and back. I went to my Primary doctor the following week because my arm was still hurting and she sent me to see an Orthopedic doctor. I'm being sent to Physical Therapy for exercises for whiplash so that my arm will stop hurting and I can use it for more than a few minutes at a time without it going numb. My truck was visually inspected by a Nationwide repair shop and the damage assessed at just over $500. The other car was assessed at around $1000. Nationwide sent me a check for the repair of the bumper, but, like I said, it was never hoisted up to check for frame damage.
Today I got a call from Pam at Nationwide, that they will not cover the Physical Therapy, and most likely not any primary doctor visits either. What a crock. Her insured wasn't paying attention. I was stopped at a light. A couple days after the accident, she offered me $500 and then up to $2500 for medical expenses and when I said no, her whole attitude toward me has changed and she has been quite rude. I hate even answering the phone. Everyone says get a lawyer. I don't want to have to go that route if I don't have to. All I want Nationwide to do is pay the medical bills. And they aren't even excessive. I will never ever carry Nationwide Insurance.

I have a complaint against Nationwide Insurance, 27200 Royalton Road Columbia Station, Ohio 44028 440-236-6400. My truck was totaled on 1-30-09 at the fault of their insured. I disputed the Loss Vehicle Valuation provided by CCC for Nationwide. The valuation given to me does not correctly list the model or options of the loss vehicle. Comparable vehicles listed in the valuation do not match the loss vehicle in year, make, model or mileage. This valuation was sent to me after I questioned the first offer given by Nationwide over the phone. While the phone offer was being made, I asked if their valuation included the off road package. I was told that Nationwide had all the correct information needed for the valuation.
After reviewing the Valuation, I noticed that some of the vehicle information looked as if it were added in after the fact. Some options listed do not follow the format on the form on which they are presented. I repeatedly requested a new Vehicle Valuation with no answer. After two weeks with no contact from Nationwide, I called the adjuster in charge of my claim. I asked again for a new valuation. The adjuster told me, no. He stated that he could not do anything as these decisions are made by his manager. I asked for his manager's phone number, and he replied that he was the manager and there was nothing more to discuss. With persistence, I finally got his manager's phone number. I called his manager and requested a new vehicle valuation.
His response was that the valuation stands as is, and if he allowed another valuation, it would certainly show more prior damage than listed on the current valuation reducing my claim. This was taken as a threat. The Vehicle Valuation does not include the snow plow which was totaled with the loss vehicle. I asked Nationwide about the snow plow and the adjuster handling my claim had no idea the loss vehicle had a plow attached to it. When I asked how I was going to be compensated for the damaged snow plow, the adjuster suggested I take the settlement and replace the snow plow. Then Nationwide would reimburse me for the snow plow. This statement was made in Bad Faith as no insurance company would release more money once the loss vehicle settlement is signed. I asked Nationwide to include the snow plow in the new valuation.
Nationwide's response was that there will be no new valuation and all they would offer for the snow plow was a depreciated value based on the original cost of the plow. I then asked why I would not be given fair market value for the damaged snow plow. Nationwide's response was that I was not entitled to fair market value, only the depreciated value. This was another statement made in Bad Faith. Nationwide refused to discuss lost wages, rental fees and lost items in the truck.

My 21-year-old daughter was rear-ended at a red light by a large dump truck. The rear end of her SUV was smashed in and she was pushed into the intersection. She suffered back and neck pain as a result. They did a quick valuation of the vehicle and determined how much it was worth. There is no way we could replace the car with one for the amount they awarded us. They came up a hair, but nowhere near what they needed to and basically said that was all they could do. They would only give us a few days of rental car.

On September 21 2007, I was stopped in a highway work area by a flagman. I stopped behind two other cars. A young man in his mother’s car plowed into the back of my 1991 Corvette. This young man never touched his brakes as he said he never saw me. It's 10:30 am, the sun is out and the road is dry. I watched him coming from about a half mile and thought he was coming faster than the 35 mph speed limit and he didn't see me.
First off, I'm a Corvette restorer and collector; I have three Corvettes. Now the problem with Nationwide Insurance is they want to give me far less than the value of the car and take the car. They said because the car has over 100,000 miles it's only worth 7K dollars. A Corvette is a collector car that has no set value. I have over $3000.00 in new parts that I bought before it was wrecked to make it perfect in every way. This includes new leather upholstery, new carpet, and some new body parts. As soon as I finish restoring my 1981 Corvette, the 1991 was to be redone.
Nationwide, since I wouldn't take their offer, they wiped it off their books, told me have a nice day. I have an auto repair business, and have told over 300 people what a no good company Nationwide is. Many have told me they're glad to know this and definitely will not own Nationwide Insurance. It is now 15 months later and my car is sitting outside rotting into the ground.

My 16-year-old daughter was killed in a single vehicle fatality. The 16-year-old driver was 100% at fault with many violations. The insurance company contacted us immediately to settle the Wrongful Death Claim that they filed, NOT us. They tried to contact us on numerous occasions and when we could finally talk to them, I told them that we expected the payout to be only policy limits and then I expected them to leave the driver's family and our family alone. They refused to disclose policy limits and made us an unreasonable offer. My daughter was killed 5 months ago and we have now been forced to hire an attorney to sue the driver's family. If this actually goes to trial, the one survivor, who is also a child, will have to be deposed along with all of their friends who were in the other car and who witnessed the crash, along with the parents of the driver, along with us.
What is Nationwide thinking to put us all through this pain and additional grief??? Nationwide is definitely not protecting their insured. We all pay 100% premiums for 100% policy limits insurance but apparently Nationwide thinks that we are to pay 100% for only a portion of the policy limits represented at the time of quote and payment. NATIONWIDE IS NOT ON ANYBODY'S SIDE IN THIS SITUATION. SHAME ON NATIONWIDE INSURANCE AND ALL OF THEIR CLAIMS DEPARTMENT. WHAT HAPPENED TO HUMAN COMPASSION??? NO WONDER WE ARE IN SUCH A WORLD OF HURT.

In early July, 2008 I was on my way home from work and 5-6 cars in front of me came to a dead stop going 50-60 mph, and I was the last of 4 cars to collide. The 3 cars ahead of me drove off but my dream car was totalled. The case was mishandled from day 1, and my complaints made it escalate into the hands of the Master Claims Representative Gairinc. I was blamed for the accident though per the laws of physics that is impossible. Nationwide wanted me to settle for $4K less than trade in, $4,500 less than auction sold prices in so cal between 6/19-7/31, and $6000 less than private party sold prices.
I provided those facts with about 60 pages of documentation proving the actual cash value of my Prius to my adjuster. Yet their final offer was still $2,900 less than trade in and $3,500 less than auction , not to mention $5000 less than private party sold prices in my area. So the adjuster said my only option was Right of Appraisal if I did not except an inaccurate reflection of Market Value of my car. So I exercised my right of appraisal and notified her the first week of August.
The adjusters have all lied to me and tried to mislead me from day one. They almost tricked me into signing over the title in July, but my dad called me and told me not to do that. I'm still responsible for my car payments to Toyota, who they also lied to and told that we came to a settlement agreement in July and they were waiting for title paperwork from me. The lies go on an on. I have so much documentation I am going to file with the Insurance Commissioner. Really this should be a class action lawsuit, becuase they are breaking so many laws and I am almost homeless because of this, and they are doing this same thing to so many people due to refusing to accept their legal responsibility.
It's been almost 3 months and they still refuse to resolve this. They will not allow their appraiser to submit his paperwork - that's what the ins co's appraiser told my appraiser and so much more. He said he had no idea why nationwide gave his name. I still pay $185/mo for auto insurance and $550/mo for my prius, yet they will not settle so I can get a new car (I have no rental coverage) this has cost me $1000s and that does not include the medical bills.

I was rear ended by a hit and run driver. Since I carry uninsured motorist, my insurance company Nationwide became the responsible party to me. After taking 19 days to make a decision regarding my car (repair vs. total) they offered my $15k for a fully loaded 2005 Prius (with car pool stickers) that has under 30k miles and is still under warranty. This is $8k below the dealer trade in value! This car sells for $32k (if you can even find one...)
I interviewed several repair shops and was told repeatedly that Nationwide is the absolute worst when it comes to repairs - they insist on used or after-market parts and routinely intimidate repair shops into doing sub-standard work!! I also found out that Farmers allow for a $5000 premium on Prius' with the HOV stickers - Nationwide won't even acknowledge that there is market value associated with the stickers. (documented by many news stories including the Wall Street Journal, and quoted from KBB and other car resources) When Nationwide says Fair Market Value they really mean sucker, we got you.
Additionally they do not acknowledge diminished value (reduced value of a car in an accident) I might understand them telling me it is not covered under my policy, but to disavow any knowledge of these subjects what-so-ever is certainly not negotiating in good faith. They also refused to extend my rental car beyond a few days even though they took 19 days to make a decision! This company has taken every opportunity to nickel and dime me, consistently negotiated in bad faith, stalled and hedged and insisted on sub-standard repairs. Nationwide is NOT ON YOUR SIDE!
My out of pocket expenses are still growing. It's now been two months, the medical bills are growing, the car rental is adding up and I believe when it's all over I may be $5-10k in the hole. Please publish this on your website to warn anyone else who may be the next victim of this horrible scam called Nationwide.

They even tried to hire a re-constructionist to blame me. The accident was ruled no fault due to weather. It took the Deputies 6 months to issue him a ticket for no insurance. And everyone states he was drinking. So Nationwide has yet to pull his BAC , as well as the police haven't requested it yet, either.
I am till waiting on his BAC to be pulled from the hospital. This will go a long ways in resolving this.

We had a rear-end wreck that totaled our car. They were rude and unwilling to look at our comps. The comp they gave us had been sold nearly a year ago. We were unable to escalate the claim , as Heather's boss was on vacation for two weeks, and the agent covering for him was out for two days. They had poor customer service. I will Never consider that Nationwide is on your side.

I recently had my vehicle stolen in a parking lot while I was at work. Nationwide Insurance Company procrastinated in handling my claim. The vehicle was found by the police and it still took 30 days to have my vehicle fixed. After picking up my vehicle when I was called, I noticed quite a bit of things that were not fixed that were in the estimate and some things that I had specified I wanted looked at that were not either. After taking my vehicle back for a second time, it is still not acceptable to me in regards to the safety and quality of the work, and yet the Nationwide insists that they have done everything they can do.

I was trying to get a quote from and book transport of my car from Ohio to CA. The agent, named Adrian was very "unique". After a week of trouble, I found out that he misquoted me and then ridiculed me. He was very rude, sarcastic, and insulting. I had never seen such a deplorable person.
Tried to get help from the customer services, but to no avail - they were even worse. Not only I did not get any help from them but also I was put on hold for no reason, hanged up on, and was insulted.

I hit a deer and brought my car in for an estimate from Nationwide Insurance, through whom I have full coverage insurance. There was a small crack in my bumper from a prior accident that I did not enter a claim for, but my bumper was damaged by the deer as well. It is actually hanging off the car. Nationwide refuses to replace the bumper because of the crack that was not caused by this accident. I find this to be ridiculous. The bumper needs to be replaced, as it sustained damaged from the deer...and if the crack were not there, the bumper would be replaced. Makes no sense to me, what do I pay my premiums for? I thought Nationwide was ON MY SIDE?
Well, my car will not be fixed correctly, and I will always be at risk for the bumper to just come off at any time. I will probably just have to pay to have it fixed correctly since my insurance company is leaving me hanging.

I was in a car accident over 2 months ago and my car is still not fixed. They tell me that they are having a problem locating a part because the car is new. How long do the insurance company have to fix a car before they have to total it? I'm paying for a car that I can't drive.

I was in a crosswalk on August 3rd, 2004 and I was hit by a car. The police report indicates an officer asked me while i was unconscious if i was aware the light was red, and I responded yes. The police report also indicates 2 witnesses confirmed it was my fault. Since this is my fault, according to a police report, I have to pay Nationwide over $5000 and I told them to go stick it somewhere and let a judge and jury decide.
Now, they have sent it to 2 collection agencies and they are expecting to collect it. They are more worried about this person's car repairs and rental car than a person's life. I barely survived. I suffered a tire rash, bruises, severely sprained ankle and a broken pinky finger. I never got a ticket for this and they are still saying I am at fault and I owe them over $5000.
I have tried to contact an attorney and they stated they could not help me because they already have witnesses that can say it was my fault, etc. I was unconscious and I am not a suicidal person.
