I registered my bike as an 'Add-On' and paid a little extra for my insurance with Lemonade. Unfortunately, my garage was broken into, and my bike, helmet, and all the related accessories were stolen after two years with Lemonade. It was a very tough moment because the bike was my daily commute transportation, and I really enjoyed every bit of it. Every moment was smooth and swift after reaching out to Lemonade and starting the claim process, which I wished would never happen. The whole process of my claim was easy via the Lemonade app, and they designated an agent who handled my case professionally with extensive communication. I got full approval on the claim based on the price I paid for the bike two years ago, and even though this doesn't bring back my bike, the silver lining in this incident was that Lemonade helped me, understood my situation, and sought out my help!

I had my bike stolen from my back yard. I filed a report with the police and opened a claim with Lemonade not expecting much due to my lack of proof of purchase. In less than 24 hours the claim was settled and I received a personal phone call from a real person about its approval. It made a crappy situation a bit better.

I had a claim that I filed with the app. Super easy. A claims agent called me the next day and the claim was approved in a couple of hours. I think I got three emails of constant updates during that one day. It could not have been easier or smoother!

They make it very easy to understand what’s covered and adjust what you are paying for when signing up which was super nice. And when my bike got stolen, it was super easy to file a claim, within a day the claim was approved, and within three it was deposited in my bank account!

I have had Lemonade Renters Insurance for the past six years and it is incredibly easy to setup and maintain insurance. You get help easily and quickly every time. Unfortunately we had to file a claim due to an incident and the process couldn’t have been easier. Lemonade has been such an easy insurance company to work with. They absolutely have the best user interface and make the process SO EASY. I've used them at my last 3 apartments and I will continue to use them whenever I can. I recently had to file a claim for a lost piece of jewelry that I had added to my policy. They made such a sad, painful process so much easier. Michael had the claim approved within 48 hours.

When I walked into my living room to the broken sprinkler head pouring water into my living room, I knew the insurance portion was coming and I dreaded the thought. After assessing the damage I opened the Lemonade app and filed a claim and upload video of the flooded area and damaged items, plus receipts for each item. It was remarkably simple to understand and the platform was easy to use. As you know, technology can often be finicky, automated experiences cumbersome. This was not that.
After filing a claim I was called by my rep, Carlos. After missing his initial calls, Carlos emailed indicating he had all the required documents, he just needed to confirm by bank details. I called him, we spoke for 2-3 minutes, and that was that. 1 day later I received payment for my damaged items. AMAZINGLY clean with a quick turnaround.

I was thrilled to actually get paid out for a stolen bike from my apartment. I can only give 4 stars though because previously I had a single tire stolen and it wasn't covered for some reason. Additionally, I had to re-send a lot of info that I had sent it anyways through the app but through a separate online form. Still though, the app was user friendly, the rep was very nice and the fact that they actually paid out instead of finding some reason why my bike wasn't covered was very nice.

Lemonade insurance is basically a rip off. I've had a claim open for four months and have yet to be paid for my losses. My adjuster has been ignoring me and when I do reach him, he sends me emails of required information that I've already sent in. They haven't taken the necessary steps to access the fire report for my fire claim. I've tried to reach headquarters and any individual with authoritative stature and they were no help. Lemonade has recently reached out to let me know that they will be closing my claim now because they haven't received the required documents which has nothing to do with me as I've already provided them with all necessary documents on my behalf.
It seems as though I will not be getting paid for any of my losses and damages to my personal items. They refuse to give me anything and feel it's best to just close my claim without working out any alternative. This tells me that they have no interest in helping their clients. This is so unfair to me and very disappointing. I've read so many good things about this insurance company and their customer service and It's unfortunate that I have to write a bad review because of one bad apple. My adjuster's name is Marcelino (CLX Property Advocate). I hope this review reaches someone important that can help me.

Honestly an incredible company. Premiums are very low and claims are super fast and easy. I initially added extra coverage for my bike but they reached out without me asking and said it’s not necessary since already covered. No company does that haha

Who would have thought that interacting with your insurance can be easy, efficient and even fun? From setting up my renters' insurance to filing a claim, the whole process is brilliantly optimized, automated and efficient. My bike and a lot of additional add-ons (saddle, lights, ...) were recently stolen which was a big blow because I cycle every day to work and without the bike, life is much more complicated. I remembered that my renter's insurance might cover my loss and it was super easy to find out that indeed it did using the app and also to start filing my claim.
The app asks you a few questions, lets you record a short video of you telling the camera what happened and also allows you upload all invoices you may have (I did not have invoices for all the items but most). I loved that I could take my time looking for the invoices and return to the app days after I started the claim to complete it. Once submitted, my claim was approved in 4 seconds which must be some kind of record. And a couple of days later I had money in my bank account to buy a replacement bike. I am happy to be able to cycle to work again and grateful that this situation was solved so swiftly. I have to see how much my premium now increases a bit, I am hopeful as so far my interaction with Lemonade was hugely positive and I can only recommend them!

It was cost efficient for me when I moved out to get. It was an easy process to sign up for and get everything covered. Then when something happened it was easy to put a claim in and get my stuff replaced.

I have been with this company off, and on. Their system isn't canceling policies; therefore continue to bill you regardless. They were suppose to bill me $5 monthly and they took the amount out for the whole year plus 2 $20 payments saying I didn't cancel them. Then the Representative hung up on me. I have a right to know what you are taking out of my account before not afterwards. You never hang up on a customer; this is your job. Take photo copies of your transactions online. I don't trust doing anything online with them anymore. This company isn't a very honest.

Have had for 3_+ years, the one time I needed them for damage to my property they said it wasn’t covered. What a joke and waste. What’s the point of having coverage if when you need it, it won’t be covered.

**Bad experience, Lemonade does not treat you as a valued customer**. I moved from one state to the other & contacted Lemonade Insurance and purchased renters insurance policy. I provided tentative address. I've had policy 4 years. Recently I noticed the name on street was listed as Buena Vista Way, which was incorrect. In actuality, there is no such address. The correct street name is Via Buena. I wondered why Lemonade did not verify address to ensure correctness for coverage.
I reached out to help@lemonade.com and telephone # (844)733-8666) and requested home address be updated on policy. (Lemonade denied my request stating I must purchase a new policy.) I requested policy to be back-dated due to 4 years of premium payments for address that is nonexistent. (Lemonade denied my request.) I requested a refund and (Lemonade denied request). First Customer Service Representative advised I can be refunded up to 1 year. 2nd Sr. Customer Service Representative advised that I cant receive ANY REFUNDS. Lemonade offered no service recovery, nor am I treated as a valued customer.

Not a customer friendly company. Everything is done online and trying to get in touch with a live person is impossible. No weekend service for general questions. Again, everything is done via text or email and for some issues, speaking to a live person is needed, which is not always possible.

Antonio in Lemonade's customer service refused to cover the water damage in my apartment, intentionally misunderstood my responses, and generally gave a horrible, scammy insurance experience. Avoid at all costs! Worst customer service experience in years.

Updated on 07/25/2024: My house was damaged by a tree and a hole was made at the roof causing all the water from Beryl Hurricane damage 90% of the structure. I lost many furniture. I have not received the funds that were approved by Lemonade into my bank account and this happened several days ago. I am really worried I can’t speak with anyone and feel completely blind here.
Original: A tree fell at the roof of the house and made a big hole causing all the water get in and making all the ceilings go down. Lemonade has already contacted me and sent an email approving my claim and claim amount. Still waiting for it to appear in my bank account. Hopefully it will be deposited shortly.

I lost a substantial amount of valuable vintage and designer clothing to mold after an appliance leak in my apartment, and it took me a long time to notice the effects of the leak due to how the items were stored. My rep at Lemonade was incredibly helpful and made the claim process really painless. A lot has been going wrong in my life recently so it was genuinely such a relief that this didn't have to be another thing!!

We had mold/water damage from a leaking pipe reported 3 weeks ago. Contractor and property management advised us to leave during remediation and construction. We filed a Renters Loss Of Use claim immediately and got a cheap hotel for 3 kids and 2 adults. Lemonade did not get back to us for 5 days, we had to move back in (can’t afford a hotel for this long) and it’s now been 3 weeks of “we’re determining your coverage”. Meanwhile our 9 month is crawling on concrete floors and our kids are playing around construction equipment because we have nowhere else to go. Ridiculous.

I have been a customer since 2016 when I moved to California. When I bought a house in 2019, I had them under a new home. On April 5, I received a notice to provide a home inspection and photos or they would not be able to renew my policy, I explained I was on a three-month out of work assignment and would not be able to provide that I return home in 90 days.
30 days after the notification they canceled my policy after five years and no claims. I believe they are dumping California homeowner policies due to the inherent risks of underwriting in the state. I was most happy with the renters insurance, but I am shocked as this is the fourth home I’ve owned and I’ve never had an experience like this disconcerting.

I never thought one could have such a positive experience with insurance (especially in the wake of a tragedy like a fire) but Lemonade’s commitment to their customers shines. The resolution felt faster than lightning speed. Everything was settled in like 1-2 business days. Beware of this insurance company. Fraudulently charging my credit card and does not respond. I requested in writing to cancel my policy since July of 2023. It's now April 2004 and they are still charging me!

Initially I was pleased with Lemonade. It was very easy to sign up, and it wasn't very spendy for renter's insurance. Things were great, then I had to file a claim. My house flooded due to a burst water pipe. The whole main level of my rental had standing water. I filed a claim with Lemonade, which was a little cumbersome, but I did it, and they sent out an adjuster. Because the pipe burst in the garage to the water heater, it was pretty high up in the garage, and also ran down the wall causing water in the whole main level. Water got all over in my tools and the house smelled pretty bad.
Unfortunately, Lemonade would only provide a small amount of money for all of my tools that got rusted, and failed to provide any money for several things that got damaged due to soaking up water. Because I didn't have a lot of money due to having to move as a result, I had to bring some of that furniture with me to my new place, which I ended up having to get rid of because it brought the bad smell over to my new home. Even though the claim amount they paid was way under the amount of insurance I had, they unfortunately didn't provide enough for me to replace my damaged property. They expected that I only clean the area rugs, which had shrunk and become rippled due to the water, and just generally not looking as crisp as they had, kind of like how old carpet starts to look even if you clean it.
As I have started using my rusted tools after cleaning with CLR as they had proposed I do, they all have broken on the next real use because the rust damaged their integrity. Some of the power tools that got wet initially functioned, but after the next use under normal operating conditions they have overheated and generally not provided the strength they used to.
They essentially asserted that a whole lot of my stuff that got wet and damaged wasn't in need of replacement because it was only cosmetic or still was operational based on just plugging it in and turning it on. Unfortunately, the water damage resulted had lasting effects that made the property unusable for its intended purpose. Much like a car that gets flooded can work, there are a whole bunch of problems with them when you actually try to use them normally, which is why insurances pay to replace them and consumers are cautioned against purchasing cars that have been subject to flooding. I don't use Lemonade. I do not recommend them anymore.

DO NOT GET. We live in San Diego, and the recent rainstorms flooded many parts of the city to a point where people were paddle-boarding on the streets (was all over social media). Our (rented) house flooded. The water damage was a lot more severe than expected, so our Property Manager asked us to vacate for 3 weeks up to a month for repairs. They’re going to have to gut all the floors and partial walls. THE PROBLEM IS: I am 7 months pregnant (yes, I had just finished my nursery when this happened) and we need to vacate ASAP, not just for the workers, but for my and my baby’s health. We started a claim with them, only to find out a few days later that they don’t cover flood/rain damage. So here, we are, trying to figure out where we are going to stay for a month with our 3 dogs while my baby is measuring in the 98th percentile and is looking to arrive several weeks early.
Why do we even have this insurance if it doesn’t cover us when we need it? When our house IS considered unlivable due to mold, sewage from the flood, etc? We don’t have family in this state: we thought we COVERED ourselves by getting this supposed amazing insurance. Now here we are, both my husband and I are extremely stressed out and running out of time.

BUYERS BEWARE!!! This review is for their renter's insurance product as of AUG-2023. My car was recently broken into and the thieves stole a bag full of electronics and personal belongings. I have a police report and a video of the robbers who smashed by car and removed items from my trunk. When it came time for me to file a claim I noticed that the app kept "crashing" when I had completed the answer form. They then told me to reach out to their team, but their website only mentions their app for claim submission. A bit of an annoyance, but the bigger issue is around their policy details.
Their "coverage" and application process is quick to say that theft and vandalism is covered, but if you read the fine print you're not really all that covered. The deducible is $2500 but the kicker is that they IMPOSE A CAP for electronics which is $1500!!! You HAVE TO LOOK OUT FOR THIS IN THEIR POLICY as is isn't really called out anywhere besides the fine print.
The word for word email I received is "Additionally before we move forward, I unfortunately need to remind you of the Special Limits of Liabilities (SLOL) on renter's policies. Your renters policy has a SLOL of $1,500 on theft of portable electronics, including laptop computers, mobile phones, and earbuds. This limit can be found on page 5 of your policy document (Section 1, A, 3, j), and is explained as: "$1,500 on portable electronics, which include: (1) Laptop computers; (2) Mobile phones, including smart phones; (3) Tablets; (4) E-readers; (5) Handheld game consoles; (6) Personal navigation devices; (7) Electronic health or fitness monitoring devices; (8) Portable media players, including wireless devices designed to be connected to the internet; (9) Headphones, earbuds and other audio peripherals designed to be used with the equipment listed in j.(1)-(8)."
This means that if you're to get anything back from a theft, the thieves would have to steal $1000 worth of non-electronic goods. What is the point of insurance at that point?! To make matters worse, and at the risk of me seeming like an Allstate plant, I got a quote from a competitor (Allstate) and they offered me a policy at HALF the price, with a fifth of the deductible, and electronics are covered up to $2500. Don't waste your time and money with this 3rd rate company.

I bought Lemonade renters insurance and extra coverage for loss of use for several months. I've trying to get help with this claim. Unfortunately my leasing gave incorrect information to my renters insurance. I notified several times both in writing and verbal and lemonade did as well. I was told by my landlord That they would follow up with the correct information but they continued to provide incorrect details and even though I was by child protective services and Denver police that is unlivable and I advised them of this information your claims denied my claim and did not want to help in my matter so I'm left large hotel bill because I did not have anywhere to go. I'm so disappointed allowing a slumlord to blame me for causing the situation and not offering to send adjuster after I was advised you would.

My car was broken into and my laptop was stolen. After a quick search, I realized that Lemonade would be able to cover the expenses for my stolen laptop. I called and they had me file a claim through the app, a process that couldn't have been easier. Within 20 minutes, I received a call from Savannah who was so understanding and helpful and let me know every step of the process. She also told me my receipts looked "fantastic!" - when you go through something traumatic like a break-in, words of encouragement and assurances of "you did a good job, you did the right thing" are so helpful and that's exactly what Savannah did.
Savannah let me know the best ways to get in touch with her and if I needed anything to just call email or call. I also got an email from Lemonade that week letting me know my claim was being processed. No lie, y'all, in a WEEK, my claim was approved. Exactly a week, from Friday to Friday. What a relief! I purchased a $90 renters insurance policy from Lemonade November 2021 because a policy was required for the property rental. My assumption at the time was that this would cover any damage done to the property.
I am a cycling enthusiast. I've been building high end custom Mountain Bikes for many years. In September 2022 I had just completed a 6 month custom Yeti ARC build; an $8k build. This bike and another I had just built were stolen from my garage. This was a seemingly premeditated burglary based on the surveilance. I anticipated a total loss but, I did call Lemonade to see if my policy covered personal property and to my surprise IT DID! The matter was resolved and I was paid in full for my loss. The customer service demonstrated empathy for a 6 month build that was taken, provided reassurance, and followed through. I am taking the time to shred these keystrokes because Lemonade and the agent I worked with was the best customer service experience likely in my experience. I am grateful. As a note, ensure full documentation on all assets - this is key.

I first want to start by saying thank you after my house was burglarized and a lot of my possessions that were stolen were sentimental and I was kind of a loss for words having a bad year as it was this just kept getting worse. The initial process of filing the insurance claim was a little different because you don’t talk to a person. It’s all done online. It’s very little interaction with people besides that. When I got a claim adjuster it was amazing.
Kristy was the most nicest, reliable, hard-working adjuster ever! She was understanding, she’s caring, she’s sympathetic. Any extra documentation she needed I will get her. We had a great communication skills that and it took me to go very smoothly. Anything I asked she would get for me in a timely manner. She worked very hard on the claim and I appreciate it. I do also want to say that the reason why I did chose Lemonade is because it has a big impact on the extra funds go to a charity of your choice. Unfortunately I lost my partner to suicide this past year and that is what I chose the charity to go towards. I just wanna say thank you to the company for all your help!

I claimed my accident and it took more than 45 days to process my claim. The person who got assigned my claim never provided me any status update and reached out to me after I asked for the update. In addition to that, I‘ve asked her multiple times that let me know before she process the claim because I wanted to review it and make a decision whether I want to proceed or not. I had many valuable things stolen from my car outside the condo that I am renting. Lemonade renter's insurance approved my claim and gave me cash to replace my belongings. I worked with Nathan for my claim. He was fantastic. I had a lot of trouble getting the NYPD to share my police report (they were being non-responsive). I had items stolen from a rental car that I paid for with AMEX platinum, so insurance is included. I spent 20+ hours on the phone and on email with them over 3 months and they kept asking for more information and being incredibly vague. I then found out that Lemonade also covers this. I've been a customer for about 2.5 years with Lemonade, without ever needing to make a claim, until my storage unit at my apartment in Denver was broken into, and thousands of dollars of stuff stolen. Lemonade made it quite straightforward to make a claim, and I'll be honest, I expected to have problems, as I've always heard that dealing with any kind of insurance can be a pain, and I've thankfully never needed to use my auto or renters insurance before. That said, submitting the claim was easy enough, and both of the Lemonade team members I interacted with, Stephan K and Kaitlyn S, were both very friendly and professional. I was very detailed in my claim and police report, and it maybe took a 3-4 hours total to compile everything needed and speak with the Lemonade staff. I have home insurance plan with Lemonade for 3 years now and didn't need to use it before. Last week my e-bike was stolen from my garage during the night. After filing a police report, I used the Lemonade website and was able to file the claim and get it approved within an hour. I received payment in my bank account the next day. The best thing for me was that the process was completely automated and easy, I did everything from my phone and it was a very simple and convenient experience. Before filing the claim I contacted the Lemonade support team using their website contact form, and Sam was able to get all my questions resolved very quickly. Stephanie is very nice and patient with a swift response time. However, before her, the experience was terrible. When I tried to reach out to the Lemonade, I cannot get a response in time which causes me panic. I called the customer line and also upload my claim, but no one care about what is actually happening. They just send me that the loss is under $250, so nothing can help. Besides, when I called the customer line, the receptionist just paltered around and stall the time to kill my patience. TERRIBLE experience at the beginning.

Enjoyed the auto prompts and how seamless it was. The input of items was a bit off. Emailing wouldn't connect and it was a little frustrating inputting a single item at a time. Cons: You must use the app to file a claim and answer multiple questions as if you were chatting with a real agent. Only then you'll be forwarded to a real person. Initial submission should be simplified to submit claim on a single form online.

After surviving Hurricane Ian, I needed assistance. I was lucky that my residence had minimal damage compared to others, but there was no power and temperature in the afternoon reached up to the 90s. This was a really bad water leak coming from under my sink. Water was fishing from behind the wall of a apartment I just moved into. I will say I just started my policy with them and after of course verification with my landlord of the issue. They put me right up in a hotel but they sent me 250 bucks right away for my troubles. Recently, Hurricane Ian forced me and my family out of our home. We contacted Lemonade about our claim. Marques handled our claim professionally and promptly. After only a few days passed, we already had received an advance from Lemonade. It made a world of difference. My stuff was stolen while I was traveling, including the engagement ring I was planning on proposing with. Lemonade made it SO easy for me to generate a claim and get reimbursed. On September 21 I opened a claim with your company. Baylee was my claim adjuster. She was very hard to get ahold of. She preferred email and I preferred phone which I stated in the email. October 5th I was told claim was settled and scheduled to arrive October 7th. I was told if it didn’t come October 10th to call. For whatever reason my payment wasn’t processed because you needed my fiancés ID to verify. I am an authorized user on OUR POLICY. You have my direct deposit information. Why did you need her ID but don’t need mine? This has delayed payment. You said you needed her ID to send payment to MY direct deposit.
Makes no sense. Nevertheless I could have given you both our IDs on October 5th or 7th but here it is October 10th and still no payment. Communication has been horrible. There’s information that you can’t just email you need to be able to communicate with your client via PHONE. Especially when the matter is urgent and you’re delaying the original payment schedule you gave to your client. Explanations shouldn’t be given on the email.

We got robbed. I'm saying to myself - "Well I have insurance - now what." My car insurance agent told me - "Lemonade is just a tech company pretending to be an insurance company." Now I have concerns - "I really need to use my insurance as I had over $5k in items robbed. How is this going to go." In short - amazingly smooth. I had to provide receipts and a police report. I got a money transfer for our loss the next day. I'm a big fan of Lemonade and would recommend to all. And, a big thumbs up to Carly.

Hurricane and destroyed a lot of my belongings. And it left our area with nothing for miles. I had no way to take my family anywhere to be safe away from our torn up house. But Morgan from Lemonade went above and beyond to not only help me. But to show that she cared and would help us when we needed most. Thanks again Morgan and Lemonade!

The adjuster took time to explain things to me, and was a good listener. I appreciated the empathy and compassion for my loss. More importantly, the attention to detail about my claim. So hopefully they will go after that moving company and get my deductible or some of that money back, but overall, my experience was great!!!

I was awed! As MOST Insurance Co will give you a VERY HARD Time with CLAIM’s and frustrating (Airlines, Product & Service Warranties etc etc). The theft claim took less than a month and I could not believed it! KUDOS to a Company who Delivers!!! And shopped for the BEST RATE! I’m transferring my Home Insurance to LEMONADE. ;)

I have a pretty busy schedule and was having trouble finding time to take care of a claim after having my car broken into. After I finally found time to file the claim, customer support was prompt in answering my questions to simplify the process for me. When my claim handler, Kaleb, took over, he was kind and understanding and made the whole thing so much easier than I could have anticipated. My claim took 20 days to resolve, which is significantly faster than I'd expected it to be. Lemonade truly came through for me and Kaleb's fast responses and proactive solutions were incredible. He really respected my time, as well, and I appreciate so much how he handled my claim.
