One of our AC units had zero power to it when we got home from a softball game at 7:30 at night. I went online and did a claim. That was excellent, easy, and very fast. Within five minutes of putting in the claim, I got a text message on my phone that we already had a provider scheduled to come out. This all happened at 9 o'clock at night. By 8 o'clock the next morning, I received a phone call to schedule a time with that provider. They were able to come out the same day within 35 minutes. This was in the heat of the summer during the day.
I had some special requests because I work and live 30 minutes apart from each other. I have my parents who are one minute away but they're in their 80s. It takes some time to stop what they're doing, get in the car, and drive to my house even though it's one minute away. The service provider was required to call me 15 minutes before they got to the house so that they were not waiting for my parents to get there. Sure enough, they called. They then called back again and they said, "Hey, your parents aren't here yet. Is it okay if I go look on the outside for the AC unit to find out what's going on? I understand your parents will be here." My dad was a little bit late. But they were completely reasonable and they just waited until my parents got there. They found that we had blown something. They had my AC fixed in less than 30 minutes. It was fantastic.
We recommend American Home Shield even though they are a little pricey. Throughout all of the years that we've had them, we've saved money by using them. We used it for the refrigerator, washing machine, water heaters, and air conditioning units several times. We've never had bad service or customer service. It's always been off the charts. Every service provider American Home Shield sent to us has been absolutely excellent. They take care of us 100%.

When I have a claim, I place the call to American Home Shield, talk about the issue, and they take out the $100 from my account, and then they contact a repair company for that particular item. The only one that I had to wait a long time for was on my refrigerator last week, but I understand that their companies are busy, but it was taken care of.
I stay with the techs while they're working and I want to get to know them a little bit. I had a ceiling fan replaced in my bedroom and the gentleman precisely laid out all the materials in a row and knew exactly when they were gonna go on. I commend each tech that has been here because they've been very knowledgeable, professional and congenial, too.
I'm a widow and American Home Shield gives me peace of mind that when something is not working right, I just call them. It's hard to get a handyman and you don't know if you're getting a reliable person or not. So, I would rather have a professional come into my home and take care of anything. It's been all positive and that's great.

The tech fixed one of the problems and another tech had to be referred out due to an appliance issue. I had a hose bibb that was leaking and it was repaired. I have a dishwasher that's malfunctioning and a technician is coming out to look at it today. The claims process went perfectly. But sometimes we dealt with problems because we lived far away and it took a while for a contractor to get in.

I've done three claims so far with American Home Shield. We had a claim for our plumbing when we had our sump pump looked at. A tech came out and explained to us what was going on. It actually was functioning the way it was supposed to function. But the tech had to adjust it. He was good and was a really intelligent young man. He fixed the sump pump quickly and wasn't here for 10 minutes. Everything’s great.
There was also a claim for a shower fixture and there was a little difficulty in getting the part that was needed for the shower handle. There's always gonna be a difficulty in getting parts as it depends on what you use in your home. Outside of that, the technician was knowledgeable and great. He did what he could do. A lot of times these technicians can only do so much. As a homeowner, it's frustrating. We the things fixed right now. But it’s not like they have a plethora of parts and equipment standing by and just waiting for your stuff to break for them to be able to come and fix it. The repair went outside the normal time frame it takes to get things done. But once they got the parts, everything was completed and done properly and professionally. It was clean too.
My experience with American Home Shield has been a good one up until recently. This is for my washing machine and the issue I’m having right now is getting it scheduled and getting it taken care of. I'm still working this issue out. On the whole, I like the flexibility of American Home Shield's plans. They have a lot of options available for consumers. Some of these help. Some of these plans out here for home warranties don't offer as much. For instance, we have a pool and American Home Shield covers everything on the pool. A lot of companies don't cover things that refer to a pool. American Home Shield doesn't charge you an arm and a leg to have the policy or to add additional items that are not under a basic warranty. Each plan costs a little bit more. The gold plan is the one that we have and it covers pretty much everything like the normal stuff that would break in a home. That would be not so expensive to repair.
American Home Shield's customer service also seems to be okay and they respond pretty fast. They get back to you in 24 hours. In 48 hours, they get back to you when trying to set something up. It's just a matter of the availability of the consumer itself. Sometimes that could be a challenge. Sales-wise, they're not too pushy. They don't go, "You need to get the next plan." Instead, they tell you what you need.

My dryer stopped working. The knob head was off. So, we pushed it back on and then the timer came out of its slot, and then it caused some sparks because then the timer went against the metal. So, a tech had come out and looked at everything and then ordered parts, came back and he replaced the entire top panel. So, he replaced the whole top piece that has all the knobs on it, and it still didn't work when he got done. He just couldn't even believe it. He said, "Let's go check your breakers, make sure nothing had popped since it had sparked." I said, "Good idea." So, we checked the breakers, and everything was good. It didn't work. Then he said, "Let me check and see if there's a fuse in here." There was a fuse down on the backside. So, he came back the next day and replaced that fuse and then it was all good to go.
We've had American Home Shield since we bought our house. So, almost eight years. The first year was and we've been pleased with it. I like that I can just call and then they're gonna send a repair person that they trust or they recommend to take care of the problem instead of me trying to call and find someone. They already have a list of people that they use. So, then you feel a little bit comfortable like, "Okay. Then hopefully, these people know what they're doing, not that I just called some random person that, you know, works on stuff and make sure that they're covered and they're insured and all that stuff."
Having AHS is worth it because we're not gonna come totally out of pocket when we have problems with our appliances, our heat, or our air just to get it repaired. I've been happy with the contractors that they've sent. As far as the price, it's a little expensive just because my next year is going up. My new contract starts later this month and it went up a good chunk. I have not reached out and found out why it had gone up so much. I know the cost of everything is going up, but it had gone up last year for $15, and then this year is like $30. I've got the paperwork and I started going through it because there's so many pages of stuff that they cover or don't cover. So, I'm trying to figure out what changed.
The online thing is great because I can just go in, put my claim in, and it's done. You don't call anybody. You just go on there, you can select what's wrong, what you got going, and then everything else is emails or texts. It doesn't matter what time of day it is, you can put a claim in. We've had a good experience overall. We've had to have appliances replaced and it's been covered through our warranty, and then the repairs have been done for us, and so far for us, it's been worth it.

Every time I call American Home Shield, it seems like my claim is not covered or covered fully. I had my garage door repaired and the guy that came out said that there was a little sprocket that needed to be replaced. But it was gonna take two and a half weeks to get the part. So he suggested replacing the garage door opener which wouldn't be covered under the warranty because they could just replace the part.
When our microwave worked intermittently, I called American Home Shield and the guy came out and it started to work at that point. He said that they wouldn't repair it. So we had to wait till it broke and then call them then. But it's $75 for a service fee for the guy to come out for two minutes and say that. It did stop working again and someone was supposed to come out again today to look at it. American Home Shield replaced my refrigerator 20 years ago and they covered that fully, which was great. But they've changed things because now, they have a cap on how much they cover.

The ice maker in my Kenmore side by side refrigerator stopped working. I did a claim through American Home Shield's website. It was easy to maneuver, and they made it simple. When the contractor first contacted to let me know when they were showing up, I was not there but my wife and daughter were. The contractor was very pleasant and informative. They gave step-by-step information on what needed to be done with the refrigerator. They were going to change out the door. But then it was on the point of just getting a new refrigerator.
American Home Shield gave me 100 different refrigerators to view and it was done all online. I could also add money to it and get an upgraded one, or just get what I had for a like for like. Or I could have asked for the money in a gift card and went shopping. I visually did it through Lowe's. But I decided to do it through the internet and just order it that way. American Home Shield has done nothing but good for me. I like the coverage, the ease of use, the responsiveness and the service period. I'm getting a brand new refrigerator, and it cost me $100 on the deductible.

I called American Home Shield and told them that the AC unit wasn't working. It was pretty easy. I'm not comfortable doing online service request, so I always call in. When the contractor came out, they said it needed a new fan. They had it in their van. So they installed a new fan. But the AC stopped working last night. It just started blowing hot air. So it's not working now. I already called American Home Shield and the contractor has set up an appointment for tomorrow, 10:00 AM to 12:00.
I like the service when American Home Shield actually fixes something and pays for it. But every time they come out here, there's an extra charge and it irritates me. When the downstairs AC unit went out last year, they put a new compressor in, but then they said I had to buy the Freon. I called and it's $60 a pound. At that point, I could have just gotten a new AC unit. Another thing was that I have a two-story house and I got an AC unit and then they charged me for the crane.

The claims process is pretty straightforward. It's online. I give them the information and they send somebody out. We've been pretty satisfied with them so far.

We had a string of 100-degree days and I woke up one morning and it was hot in this house. We turned the AC off, turned it on, checked the breaker and did everything we could do but we're 70 years old so we can't be climbing up in the attic, too. So, I went online and told American Home Shield we need somebody to come out here. It was on a Friday that I put in my request and JKT, the contractor, was here the following Tuesday. We didn't know when they were gonna come out that day and I didn't wanna sit in the non-air-conditioned house all day and wait. So, I called and the rep said she would talk to the technician. She called me back within 30 minutes and told me the two-hour timeframe he would be there. He called when he was on his way so we could just leave the hotel and come over here and meet him. So, it was perfect. I was very impressed. I thought they'd be so booked up and I didn't know if he'd be able to even come out.
The tech got me up and running within 15 minutes. The condensation line that drains all the water out from the humidity here had clogged somehow. It was probably from that windstorm that blew the insulation around in the ceiling. There was a safety that if it couldn't drain, it would turn it off so it wouldn't flood our house from the attic and the switch had flipped and turned it off. So, he turned it on, unclogged the line and we were good to go. They impressed my husband so much. He knew our neighbor needed a new air conditioning unit and he had to go over and talk to the neighbor, and now they're gonna install a whole new unit over at my neighbor's house. So, we highly recommend them.
Our previous air conditioning company that comes out and services the unit every year told us that there wasn't anything else they could do for it. It was on its last leg and the next time anything went wrong, we'd have to have a whole new unit for $12,000. So, we were thinking that was gonna happen this time and this guy from JKT said there was nothing wrong with our unit and they would keep me going. So, we've switched. We're going with these people from now on. You never know who AHS is gonna contract with. So, it was luck of the draw. We were skeptical but now, we love AHS and are very happy with it.

I let American Home Shield know I had a problem with my refrigerator and they arranged for GE to come out. GE determined the refrigerator wasn't any good anymore and I had a choice of either selecting online or buying my own. I had to shop for a refrigerator, which took a few days. I decided what I wanted and sent AHS the paperwork, and they said they had seven to so many days to process the check. But I sent the paperwork online and was approved within that day. So, it was just a matter of getting the check processed and mailing. AHS is gonna send me a reimbursement check.
You can do a lot online with AHS. You put the information in and everything I automated. For the refrigerator, I told AHS the problem online and they contacted GE. And GE took it from there. I called them whether my paperwork had gotten approved or not and the person said it's already been approved. So, it didn't take very much turnaround and was not very complicated at all. I may not need anything for a while but I've had things like the refrigerator, garbage disposal and a furnace that had problems and AHS took care of those. One time I had to have local furnace people check on why my furnace wasn't kicking on. They replaced a part and charged me several hundred dollars. Lo and behold, that didn't fix it. So, they came out again and said it must be a certain part and they were gonna charge me several hundred more dollars. And I said no because it was during a cold spell a few years ago and I needed somebody to fix it right away. I said I would just wait.
I contacted American Home Shield and they sent somebody out and they said the igniter was corroded. When it started happening again, the same people came out with no additional cost and determined that the other people who put in a new part hadn't adjusted to flame it properly. So, it was a one-time payment and I had two visits and it got fixed. I paid only 100 bucks. When I had to have a local person come and look at our furnace and if I had kept going down that path, it would have cost me close to probably $1,000. Something else wore out, which was an electronic motherboard or control panel and AHS replaced that. It was simple. You'll be paying a flat fee unless it's an expensive part. I wanted a better refrigerator than the one they wanted to replace. So, I had to pay extra. But that was my choice.

It's been really hot here and our AC hasn't been keeping up very well. I was a little paranoid that there was something wrong and if there was, I wanted to get ahead of that. Air Control Experts came out and did some tests. They said that everything looks great. The tech was great and the communication was great. He did his due diligence.

Lately, our fridge stopped working and it's been 40 days and it's not fixed yet. In the middle of the summer with kids at home, we have no milk (we have to buy day by day), no food, no cold water, juice.. NOTHING!! They has the technician come check it out, order the parts, took more than 2 weeks for the parts to find out that it did not fix the issue. Now 11 days later and they are still looking for parts!! I asked to speak with a supervisor, 1 week and I get pushed around by supervisors that they are trying to get in touch with the technician and find a resolution!! The biggest load of horse crap!

The air conditioner was not blowing cold and it took three weeks for the part to come in to fix it, which is not unusual. The contractor came out last Thursday and made the repair. The air conditioner worked on Friday and Saturday and stopped working again on Sunday. I called them back and they came out yesterday and looked at it. They said it looks like there’s an electrical issue in addition to the repair they made and they’re looking into what they could do to repair that. They owe me a call back with a timeframe for repair. I like the ease of submitting claims to American Home Shield and they line up contractors to do the work so I don't have to chase folks down and deal with it. I’ve experienced convenience and good coverage for the issues that we've had.

Our dryer stopped working and American Home Shield’s process was probably the most intuitive I've ever had from any company. The person who came out was great, nice and knowledgeable. One person was matter-of-fact and completely 1-2-3. Other people were more engaging. The techs told me what was wrong and what they were fixing. I’ve had to have them come out twice because one thing broke and I don't know if that led to something else breaking later on. Our dryer was working fine three times and then, it stopped again. They came out again for more things. The service went smoothly and was easy. But people should review the coverage because it is too low for the monthly fee and the replacement amount that's covered per item is not high enough. They don't cover enough to actually buy an equivalent model.

Submitting a claim to American Home Shield is easy. I do it online or call them. The technicians are good. If I have any issue, they resolve it. I like that when something breaks down, you call them and within 24 hours, they get back with you. I don't use them regularly, but when I used them, they immediately gave me the person that they assigned the contract to. Then the person got back to make an appointment within 24 hours. So, I haven't have any bad experience with them.

We had an issue in the kitchen sink. The water was returning to the dishwasher, and it looked like it happened to be something with the garbage disposal. So it was changed last week, and so far, no water is going back to the dishwasher, so that is fixed. Everything was good with the plumbing. I did the claim online. It was funny because for the kitchen, I wanted to report the dishwasher and I didn't find dishwasher but I was under the impression that the issue was related with the garbage disposal, so I reported the garbage disposal. Other than that, it was okay. They contacted me to make an appointment and verify the information I submitted. Also, the tech did a great job. American Home Shield is a very convenient service to have, especially with everything that is so expensive, or if you don't have the time to fix it, I would recommend it. I have a great experience. So far, I like it. I’ll keep them.

When we submitted a claim, AHS got someone out in a timely manner. However, the dishwasher didn't get fixed at first. So, AHS sent someone else out but it seems like it still isn't working properly. The tech was very nice. He fixed the stove. There was a problem with the freezer. He fixed that too. With the dishwasher, he said it was fixed, but it still didn't work properly.
So, we put in a survey. I didn't give them a good score because it wasn't working. They got in touch with me and they came back. American Home Shield sent another person from that company. I wasn't home but my cousin was here and he told him what to do, how to set it, and we did it, and it seemed like it still wasn't cleaning the dishes. So, I was gonna call them back and see if they could send a different company.

The garage door stopped working. I called AHS to submit a claim. They gave all the information for the garage door company and said what they'd be looking at. The tech had a high level of knowledge and was professional. However, he didn't fix it. He said his company doesn't work on those types. He said there might be another company, though, that specializes in that type of garage door.
I got an email from AHS saying that another garage door company had been contacted. I just haven't been contacted by that new company yet. But I figured since it's a holiday they might have been closed. My heater also went out. The guy came out and figured out that I ran out of oil. And that was it. I had a roof leak too. The guy was busy, but he popped in, hopped on the roof, and fixed it. I haven't had a problem since.

The claim process at AHS was very good and smooth. AZ Appliance was great, too. I specifically asked the service request to be assigned to them because I used them before. They were called to fix a problem with the dishwasher. The dishwasher was not draining the water properly.

I'm satisfied with AHS. They respond quickly. Custom Climate Professionals came out recently. They were good. They were out here definitely within a reasonable amount of time. The technician, Charlie, was a talker. He wanted to explain everything to us. They're coming back today to do the installation of my furnace.

American Home Shield does what they say. When I call and I need something fixed, they respond and get it fixed or they replace it. Whatever they have to do, they do it. I recently had a claim for my ice maker. The repair man replaced it with a new one, but it was freezing up, so he came out last week and replaced the whole ice maker. He was nice and respectful. They always are.

When I have a service request, I just call American Home Shield and they set it up. It's easy. They choose the contractor and the contractor calls me to schedule an appointment. American Home Shield has been prompt in sending out the necessary person to fix whatever needs to be fixed. However, there's always one little piece missing where somebody else has to come out. I had a draining issue and there's an issue where we don't know where the drain is releasing into the slab of the home and they still haven't gotten to the bottom of it. Plumbing as well as air conditioning people have come out, but the problem still isn't remedied. Also, there's so much American Home Shield doesn't cover. For example, I have mold in the house. They don't cover that, but the mold was a result of the air conditioning unit being faulty. Read the fine print.

My home has some appliances and systems that are getting towards the end of their life, and having American Home Shield has helped to get a few extra years out of those systems. My refrigerator has been repaired a few times. American Home Shield is quick about getting the claim assigned to a contractor based on the contractor's availability. That normally seems to go okay. Where the breakdown happens is when the contractor sends in their report and the approval process on American Home Shield, especially if there's some discrepancy in what the contractor recommended and what the home warranty is recommending. There was also one issue where one of the contractors did some work on my AC system and made the repair incorrectly. That resulted in leaking in my attic and my ceiling fell in, but AHS fixed everything. They made it right.

I've had a number of claims, and American Home Shield has always taken care of it. I don't have to worry about coming up with a lot of money, although I pay more than I spend monthly. Other than that, it helps me to ensure that I'm gonna get any issue repaired, and they've come really quick. I've had no problems. When I had an air conditioning issue, I put in a request over the internet, and the same day, I was told who would be out. The contractor, TexAire, showed up, fixed the problem, and left. The tech had a good attitude. He did his job, and it didn't take very long. He discovered that the AC needed Freon. He went to buy some, showed up the next day to put the Freon in, and it worked. It didn't take very much Freon to completely charge the system, and he didn't charge me for it.

We're in our second month with American Home Shield. When people start with them, they sign up, then they have a 30-day waiting period before their plan goes into effect. Some companies charge people right away, but they still can't use the policy for another month. American Home Shield doesn't charge people until their plan goes into effect, which is nice. The price might be a bit more than some companies, but it seems to cover more and the features that it has are worth the extra cost. The website is very easy to get to as well. Some places have a website, but people have to call them to get any kind of information and to submit the claim.
If I'm gonna submit a claim for some work, it's very easy through American Home Shield's site, and they send someone out. Everything seems to be fine so far. We had them come work on our AC unit and didn't have any problems. A repair guy from Air Control Experts came and there was a part on our AC that was frozen up. He couldn't finish diagnosing it until it had been turned off and thawed, so he said, "Hey, we're gonna have to reschedule." We did that, and we made sure the AC was turned off. He came back, checked it out, added some Freon and made sure that everything was working fine, and it's been working fine ever since.

I did a claim online for an electrical issue and another one for an ice maker. For the electrical issue, the circuit breaker started tripping all of a sudden and the tech just said to unplug some stuff. I tried to tell him that there have been no changes to what we had plugged in, but he said, "Maybe you just got lucky for the first few months." We didn't get any resolution from it, and that was a little disappointing.
On the other hand, the ice maker claim with American Home Shield was a great experience. The ice maker wasn't working on my refrigerator, and the repair man came in and looked at it. He asked me what was been going on with it and if I checked it for ice getting lodged. I told him that we've been doing it for a while. It was sputtering on and on for months, then lately, it never came back on. Usually, we would just turn it off and give it a break. He said, "That sounds like it's a connection problem which is pretty common." He said he had another one and that should fix it. He swapped it out quick and the ice maker has been way better since.

With American Home Shield, I don't have to worry about the appliances. If something happens, I give them a call and I'm worry-free. The process is normally pleasant. I file a claim on the website, then they follow up with me with a phone call. The technicians have always been good too.

My experience with American Home Shield has been good. I had a disposal in my kitchen that they came out and fixed. The repair man diagnosed the problem and fixed it. He was in and out in 10 minutes, and he did a great job. In the past few months, I also had an oven fixed. They did a good job, but that process took a bit longer because the repair people had to diagnose the problem. The control panel was not working, so they tried to fix the control panel the first time. They couldn't fix it, so they came back out and eventually wound up having to replace the entire oven with a newer one.

I submitted a claim for the water heater, and it went very well. The repair man was here five minutes. With American Home Shield, I don't have to worry about finding someone to fix something for me, and so far, the experience has been great. I'd recommend them.

Our garage door was broken, so I put in a case with American Home Shield. They sent someone out a couple of days later, and they took care of it. We keep American Home Shield just in case of something big happening. We use them about twice a year, and we've never had any problems with them. They raised their prices though. We haven't called them in a year, but it used to be 75 bucks and now it's 100 bucks for a service call.

American Home Shield is a good warranty. The price is a little high, but I'm still satisfied with it. I don't have to pay an outrageous amount of money for a repairman, and so far, the service has been good. I just call the phone number, and they take care of everything. When my dryer broke down, I called them and they covered it. It took three days 'cause they had to send somebody else out. The first repairman they sent wasn't able to fix all of it, so they sent another repairman and he got it fixed.

American Home Shield is a great company. They work with my problem, and the techs are really good. When my air conditioner was broken, they helped me. The condenser was leaking and it was not working. AHS had the people from Austin Heating and Cooling come here and they fixed it for more than four hours. Recently, AHS had my plumbing fixed, and now, it's working good. The plumber was on time and professional too. Overall, having a home warranty helps a lot and people are missing a lot if they don't have one.

When I have a claim, I go online, log into my account, and submit what is wrong or what I need looked at or repaired, then American Home Shield makes contact with the repair group. They contact me with the time slot of what will work, and they come out and try and repair whatever is needed. Recently, my AC unit wasn't working very well. I called American Home Shield, and they said the warranty department won't cover it. It was nine plus years old and they'll cover any repairs if it was broken, but since the unit was working, it couldn't be fixed. It just wasn't working at its prime anymore and it was not keeping up with the Texas heat. However, I could keep my AC or pay for a brand new one, which is nicely discounted through their program, and get it updated.
I chose to get sent me into that discount program, and they sent a technician out to see what was needed for the replacement. I talked to that technician, and he submitted a couple different quotes with options on it, then I selected which option I wanted. Everything was ordered, and they came out and replaced it. When my microwave quit working, I also told AHS and they sent a technician out. He looked at it and also said, “It can't be fixed. It needs to be replaced.” He submitted that paperwork to American Home Shield, then they gave me options to choose from. I chose a new microwave option, and the same company came out and replaced it. The new microwave was an upgraded model. They no longer made parts for the one I had, so they gave me a similar matching model that they make today.

Whenever I need a service, I just give AHS a call and they set it up. Overall, the techs they've provided have been pretty good, plus I only have to pay $100 for somebody to come out and fix anything.

The claims process of AHS is online and it's easy. But the cost keeps going up for the service. Also, they should send the same vendor to the same house because if something is not working properly, the diagnosis would be much easier. So far, some of the techs who came out were good, while some were not so good. It's kind of the same bag of tricks that you get with every other one.
We had problems with our heating unit last Christmas and we went for a period of two weeks where we didn't have heat in the house. And I live in Florida, which wouldn't seem bad, except that was the coldest Christmas in Florida. So, we ended up checking in to a hotel. And I know it was over the holiday and everyone deserves their holidays. But I also think they needed an emergency crew, which they did not have. Other than that, I live in a home where things break as in every other house and for the most part, having the techs from AHS come and service has been less expensive than doing it on my own.

I have enjoyed being with AHS. With them, you know exactly how much a service is going to cost you and you know that they will see that the job is done. The coverage is great and the price may be a little high, but I can afford it. Every time I needed them, they came through for me. Right now, I have a plumber requested and they are taking care of me. The plumber came out once and they're going to return tomorrow. I also had a claim for my upstairs air conditioner. About once every year, I have to have service done to it. The past couple of years though, they haven't had to come out. So I've had extensive work done to the upstairs air conditioner and the techs have done well. I hire them to service the unit every change of the season.

I needed a service for pipe backups. I filed a claim on the home page of AHS and it was easy. Then, I got the name, address and phone number of the contractor. The techs who came out provided a beautiful service. When they first came in, they had to snake the pipes and they found out that the pipes were not properly installed. So they had to re-pipe underneath the home, which American Home Shield did not cover, and the whole process took a couple of weeks. They came last week, but because of the hurricane, there was water underneath. So they had to wait for it to dry out and it just got resolved yesterday.
Other than that, AHS replaced the refrigerator and an over the stove microwave for me. They give you the option of a gift card or just take the one that they suggest, and they take care of the install. So, I had the choice of getting my own microwave through Lowe's and I took that one. AHS also fixed my air conditioner. I've praised them since I started and I sent out emails to everybody telling them they were crazy not to get AHS.

Our refrigerator wasn't cooling properly while the front panel of the washer wasn't functioning properly and some of the cycles weren't working. We submitted the claim for these two issues online and the AHS website was good. The submission was a pretty straightforward experience. Initially, American Home Shield assigned us a contractor but that contractor wasn't available for almost two weeks. So we had to request another contractor and that person was able to come in within two days after I filed the claim. The person looked at what was going on, then he ordered the parts and came back in a few days to replace the parts. He ended up replacing the fan of the refrigerator to help with cooling. For the washer, he replaced the panel to fix the problem.
We were satisfied with the service but it would have been better if the contractor would have done a video call so that we could tell him what the issues were. That could have saved him a trip because the only thing he did on the first trip was look at the appliances and order the parts. So if there was an option for them to do remote diagnosis so that they can order the part ahead of time, that would have been better. Other than that, having the warranty has worked well for us. AHS does a good job finding a contractor that we can work with and it reduces the hassle of us finding the right sort of trusted contractor. I also like the ease of getting things done as well as the cost aspect of it. Although we're paying a monthly premium, we don't have to worry about bearing a huge cost in case of a service.

The water and ice dispenser on our refrigerator stopped working and the tech came out and fixed that. Then, one of our bathrooms in the basement had a leak from the back reservoir area. The guy came in, fixed it very promptly, headed out, and cleaned up afterwards. Both techs were great. I submitted these claims with AHS online and their website was fairly easy to navigate. The techs were out rather quickly and they probably had them adjust to our schedule, so they were very convenient for us. Also, their customer service reps were so accommodating and were able to work with us. The cost of having the warranty is reasonable. For our previous home that we had a warranty with, it was the same and that was nine years ago. So, I’m glad the prices hadn't gone up since that, especially considering inflation.

It’s been quick with AHS. They take care of my claims. I had an issue with my garage door opener so I submitted a ticket online. The next day, somebody called me, and they came out the next day and got it fixed. When we had a plumbing issue, it was the same thing. It was the next day they came out. That one was a little bit more involved, and it turned out that it wasn't something that was covered. The plumber told me he double checked with American Home Shield first and made sure that it wasn't covered. They confirmed then he gave me a quote for what it would cost if I wanted to fix it.

American Home Shield works fast. Sometimes during the summer with the AC, it may take longer than usual, but the contractors come. They're good at what they do. I have saved a lot of money having American Home Shield that's why I keep renewing it. I don't wanna lose it, but they're going up on their rates and I ain't getting more pay. That's the only problem I got with it.

It's been hit or miss with American Home Shield. Sometimes, I have amazing experiences. I just had a claim and it went well. They were in there the next day and fixed everything. I'm super happy I have the policy. But there had been times where it took a long time. The people American Home Shield is contracting out with are slow, and I have to be involved in the process to make sure that my stuff gets fixed. I have moved addresses twice and the process of being able to do it online and updating the system is very frustrating. It was so hard to get my old account off and access my new account. I was on the phone for so long just to make a very simple change.

American Home Shield prevents us from having to make unexpected out-of-pocket repairs. They have a network of professionals in place that we don't have to go hunting and pick somebody we don't know anything about. They have gotten somewhat better as the years go by. But sometimes, we have a hard time when we have to call and speak to someone in person because they usually use people from foreign places. They can't understand us, and we can't understand them. But the last few times we've had problems, they've been quick to respond. They found somebody in our area who could do the repair on a timely basis, and the repairs were done well. Recently, the garbage disposal died, and somebody came out and looked at it from Green Day. They determined that it needed a new disposal. They got one, came back and replaced it. The premiums are a little high though, and if I have to call somebody, it's automatically $100.

When something goes wrong, I can call American Home Shield and they can send somebody out to get the issue fixed instead of me or my tenant trying to call somebody. Shields Plumbing came out recently for a dishwasher that needed to be installed. They were outstanding. American Home Shield could stop raising their prices so often though.

With American Home Shield, you have someone to call. You don't have to pay an arm and a leg when you are not ready. You pay your deductible, and you are good to go. But I had an issue with the last contractor. They could not fix the unit until the third time they came out. Every time they went, I had to call American Home Shield to call them back before they would come back again. American Home Shield should make sure the customer is satisfied, and that they agreed to what the contractor was out to do before they could leave. Sometimes they say they're done and leave but the issue is still the same.

If you need coverage on your house, go with American Home Shield. You'll be covered for good. They replaced the condenser and coil in my AC unit. I currently have multiple claims out. My dishwasher was not draining. A contractor came out and fixed it. My ice maker also wasn't working, and I'm getting a brand-new fridge from American Home Shield. They emailed me over a gift card today from Lowe's in the amount of what my fridge is valued at and I'm going to pick out the fridge today.

American Home Shield does a good job of getting the contractors. I called them when I needed a new motor on my air conditioning unit. The contractor called within an hour, came out and checked it out. There was no waiting weeks. I'm impressed.

There are a couple of items that I don't want on my American Home Shield policy, but I wasn't told that I'd have to wait till the end of the year to cancel them, which I'm cheesed about. Also, getting somebody to come out here and address the problem usually takes so long. I had my refrigerator poop out on me and had to wait almost a week. That's a very long time to have a refrigerator that's limping along in summer. The last repairman was half an hour late, but he did it that day. I waited 24 hours then I still was having trouble with the refrigerator. I called the service directly and was told I was gonna hear from somebody right away. But it's Tuesday and I haven't heard anything. Luckily, the refrigerator is working correctly in the meantime.
On another claim, I was getting a nasty stink in the house. I had somebody come out and it was a young kid. I had him go under the house and look for something that might be a dead animal or something leaking. He went under the house and did everything to find out where the ghastly smell was coming from. Finally, I had to call another service. The guy who came out asked if I ever use the bathroom in the front hall. I have two bathrooms and I never use the bathtub except when I have guests. I didn't know that if you don't use a bathroom, you have to once in a while run some water through the bathtub pipes because if you don't, that water sitting there will dry up and it will get funky. The kid should have known that. He didn't think to ask how often I use that bathtub. I had to pay $125 and not get anywhere. I had to pay another company.

Last year, we had a dryer issue. AHS sent a company to try to fix it. The issue ended up being the lint trap that goes up through the attic. That was not part of the dryer claim so the techs could not do the job. But submitting a claim has been very quick and nice on the computer. The last one I did, I just went on the website, found the category that I needed, put in what exactly it was that was wrong, and they were able to get me a company to come out within a couple of days. One of our outlets and a bunch of our lights weren't working. The techs were able to find the switch that was crossed. They fixed that so all the lights worked again.

I had an issue with some electrical problems in the house. One was a ceiling fan with a light. The electrician fixed that. The other one was an overhead light in the kitchen. The electrician recommended that the light fixture needed to be replaced. He said, "I'll write it up and turn it in." After five days, I hadn't heard anything. We are living in the dark at night in the kitchen. I called this morning and the rep said the light fixture was not covered. Now, I have to pay for another electrician to come out and buy the thing. Another issue I'd had was there were limitations on what American Home Shield pays for. I had a plumbing problem. They said, "We only pay up to this amount. If it goes over this amount, that's out of your pocket."
I've been pleased with the contractors they American Home Shield has sent out. But I've dealt with a couple of people on their customer service side that I wasn't happy with. They seemed short. I'm also not happy with American Home Shield. I'll be cancelling and going somewhere else. When I told them I'm gonna be cancelling when the contract is up, the rep said they were gonna reimburse me half of the deductible that I paid. That was a plus on their part for that.

If it's just a basic fix, American Home Shield is good to have. You pay one price for their contractor to come visit and 95% of the time, that's all you pay. But if it's not a simple fix and something needs to be replaced, then you have an issue. American Home Shield says they will replace it but that's a lie. They don't replace anything. We recently had that happen with our water heater. We also had an air conditioner issue. That was the second time their contractor had to come and fix it. Both times, it took them three days. The customer service is overseas. There is a language barrier. Sometimes it's hard to understand what they're saying and sometimes they don't understand what I'm asking. They just repeat what they're told to say.
American Home Shield just raised their prices, but it's still not bad. It was $75 each time. Now, it's $100. We pay a monthly fee as well which went up too. When we first started, we were only paying $60 a month. Now it's $99 a month. They do it when the contract is renewed. I do automatic payment with them. Each year, they say, "If you don't wanna renew contract, please let us know." They also tell you, "This is what it was. This is what you're paying. There is an increase." It's been going up a little every year. But it's still a good deal. It's still cheaper than constantly having to call somebody to come.

We don't care for American Home Shield anymore. I plan on switching. When I called one of the times, I got hung up on. When it comes to certain things, American Home Shield is not very good. They take forever to fulfill what they need to fulfill. A part was ordered for my AC unit but it took forever for American Home Shield to order the part and get it out to the right address. The AC unit wasn't fixed for two months which caused my other AC unit to overwork. I had to have them come out recently to fix that. I told American Home Shield not to send me the first company anymore because they had to come out five different times and didn't seem like they knew what they were doing. The second company ended up cleaning out both of the AC units which the other company didn't do. They checked everything and put a couple of new parts in.
American Home Shield did not approve my washer to get fixed. I had to purchase a new one. But it is one of the covered items in my plan. The play button wasn't working. A repairman came over and took it out. The back panel had failed. He said that it needed to be replaced but American Home Shield did not cover it. They said it was not normal wear and tear. It's the button and things are gonna happen if you're pushing a button for the past whatever years. They said that there was detergent in it, but there wasn't.

One thing I like about American Home Shield is that you can put in your request online and it goes much faster. They have a higher quality of service in regards to getting somebody out. Most of the time, they will cover the claim and have somebody out on a good timeframe. I just had three different items worked on at my house.
I had a contractor come out for a toilet issue. I was told there was a hairline crack. American Home Shield sent one technician out. He left the toilet in a much worse condition than it was when he arrived. American Home Shield denied the claim because he said it wasn't normal wear and tear. They would not change their review which made no sense to me. I don't know how you can do anything else to a toilet except sit on it. I was without toilet and water for almost two weeks which was unacceptable.
Even though my last experience wasn't good, I would still recommend American Home Shield. I have compared them to several other companies and they are still better than all the other companies out there. If you're not home or you don't live close to your vacation home, you can always have someone to go out and it's gonna cost you $100 for your deductible. Majority of the time, that's all you're going to pay for your repair. You're not worrying about your refrigerator or major appliances if something goes wrong. We have a pool and pool equipment could be extremely expensive. Our heater went out and they took care of it.

It's been quick and easy with American Home Shield. They've responded to everything that I have requested service on. I go online, submit a claim and get feedback right away. The most recent claim was for my oven that wasn't heating properly. American Home Shield sent an appliance company out. They had to order parts, but it took an extremely long time. They said it would be 7 to 10 days. After 10 days, I called ‘cause I hadn't heard anything from them. The next day, they called, came out and repaired it.
There was one issue that aggravated me. Back in June, our air conditioner went out. We live in Alabama and it was hot. American Home Shield assigned us a company that I had never heard of. They contacted me and it was gonna be over a week before they could get out here. We're older people and we couldn't make it in that heat. I called American Home Shield and talked to a nice, young man in customer service. He reassigned us to another contractor and that contractor was out the next day. Within 15 minutes, they had the issue fixed. I was impressed with the customer service agent that helped me that day.

I've been very happy with American Home Shield. They just replaced the dryer for me. The process went very well and they paid for the replacement. I'll refer AHS to anyone. I like the cost savings. I've had multiple things go wrong with my house. And American Home Shield has been perfect. I like that I can call one number for whatever my problem with my house. So, if I need air conditioning or plumbing, I just call that, and they send somebody out. I just pay the $100 fee and the monthly fee. And I'm still ahead of the game. I send my claims online. And they send me a text. They usually are responsive. They come out right away. The recent tech was fantastic. I had a soil line break. He came out and fixed it fast. I'm gonna hire him for other stuff.

I’ve been with American Home Shield since the early 2000s with my property in Georgia, and I've never had any issues up until recently with the contractor that they originally sent out to my house. I submitted a repair claim for the refrigerator. I was confused with the diagnosis of the issue that they gave me. They said the refrigerator need to be defrosted. It's a frost refrigerator. So, I wanted to speak with the technician. He did not wanna speak with me. I had to speak with a manager. During a heated conversation, I requested a new contractor be sent out to the property because I did not want that same contractor to come out. They were gonna send the same one, just a different guy.
So, CalTek came out, and I was able to speak with the technician. He explained to me what was going on. I'm satisfied with that. CalTek is a good contractor. I've never had any issues with AHS over the years, but it was just hard to get resolution. And when I would call, I get the same technician and they tell me the same thing. Then when you request to speak with a manager, you can't get one. Also recently, they had contacted me saying that my contract was no longer available, so they switched me. So, I was a little concerned with that.

AHS has been very friendly and cooperative. Also, 10 or 15 years ago, it used to take them a day or two to get back with me. Now when I call, I get a response and I get an agent. They set me up a date that somebody's gonna come out and look at whatever is the issue and we move forward. Most recently, we had a tech come out and he was very polite. He looked at the unit and we checked the circuit breaker because I had cut the circuit breaker off the night before because I don't know if it had ice condensation on it. He took the machine out there and tested the Freon and made sure we had everything. The unit has been running fine since then. I've never had a bad experience with anyone coming out and doing any service.

American Home Shield doesn't cover everything. I only used them once. And I needed them to come out and replace some breakers and a kitchen light. They fixed the light. But they didn't cover the breakers because they were bigger than the ones that should have went on there, and I had to come out of pocket $170. And it made me feel like if I have to deal with this kind of stuff, what do I need them for? I almost thought about cancelling them, but I decided not to. There may be bigger problems. Because when they came out to do the kitchen light, it worked. And as soon as the tech left it, it started acting up again. We found out it was the switch. But when I called them to tell them about that, I asked them, "Is it gonna be covered?" Because I couldn't afford to come out of pocket anymore. I paid $170 just for them to change some breakers, and that's ridiculous. I have my doubts about them. But I'll give them another chance.

My hot water heater was leaking. Submitting the claim on American Home Shield's website was easy. I was given the service company's name, address, and phone number. The techs were professional, friendly, and helpful. There was some water spillage, and they cleaned it up. I would recommend them to my friends and family. Unfortunately, the unit was so old that they had to replace it. It did take a week mostly because they were booked out, but that gave us time to deal with getting it approved. The coverage services were taken care of quickly and efficiently. AHS is a wonderful warranty company. It saves you a lot of stress and headaches.

Everything that I've called them for, American Home Shield has come through in timely manner. The air conditioner unit didn't give out cold air. The rep was professional, friendly, and fixed my problem. He said that the condenser went out and he had one on his truck. I told two people about AHS most recently because the service was good. If you have a home warranty, you should switch to AHS.

The compressor was bad in my air conditioner unit and there was a leak from the coils in the basement. It was recommended that they replace the actual condenser, but they just got the parts for the condenser. Plus, it took such a long time. It was in the heart of the heat wave that we had. It was 100 degrees for about three days. But we were without air conditioner from August 2nd until today. The technician was great but I'll have to make a return call to them because the leak is still there.
When my refrigerator went out a year ago, the Sears guy who came by got my order mixed up. He said he was gonna charge me. So I went away from American Home Shield and went directly through the vendor to get my refrigerator fixed. There was another job that was done for me, and I never followed through. The technician took so long to come that I ended up cancelling that job. But American Home Shield didn't refund my $100. Overall, their customer service is pretty good when I call in. But I had to drop my coverage because they raised the price so much.
I gave my son an American Home Shield policy as a gift. I was thinking it was gonna be a year or two. But it ended up being five years. I didn't notice that they were deducted from my checking account all this time. My son thought he cancelled it. But they wouldn't let him cancel it. I had to call in and cancel. But then I can't cancel because it's not in my name, because I gave it to my son and put it in his name. So that was where it fell through the cracks.
My son had repairs done where the American Home Shield would have covered it. But he didn't think he still had it because he said he cancelled it. So I ended up paying an additional $3,000 and I asked for the money back. The same thing happened with my brother. I also gifted him with American Home Shield. I also had to go through extra hoops to get the service discontinued because it was not in my name. The person who pays for the monthly bill should also be able to cancel it when it's done. Otherwise, it could go on and on.

I had an electrical wiring problem. It caused one of my plugs to burn out. So American Home Shield had an electrician to come out the next day and he fixed it. He was very nice. He explained the problem to me. Everything went well. I'm glad I got American Home Shield because I was gonna be spending more for somebody to come out and look at it and fix the problem than what I had to pay for them to do it. So I really like American Home Shield, and I'm gonna keep them.

My particular situation will entail them having to take down the tile in the bathroom in order to get to the shower bath that needs to be repaired. So they let us know that. Then I got a call where they said that if we wanted to, they would provide someone else to come out for a second opinion. So we're trying to decide about that. But other than that, they were very thorough in checking and they tried everything they could to fix it.
American Home Shield has been very good and efficient in trying to take care of our concerns and needs. I haven't had anything that I can recall that we were dissatisfied with. When I first started with them years ago, I got coverage for my home in Tyler but it got to the point where they said they couldn't service me anymore. So I ended up having to go to another company.

I put in a service request for AC and heating and then American Home Shield assigned Quantum Mechanical to me. They came out very promptly. Within two days, they were out. The technician was out taking care of examining and going through troubleshooting as far as my equipment. That was when he informed me that my evaporator coil ruptured and that they could hear a big leak coming from it. So that was why my AC was down. They submitted a claim to American Home Shield. American Home Shield approved some of the work, but not all of the work. So there was something out of my pocket. But I agreed to it. It is what it is. It was over 100 degrees here in Texas, and I have kids. They came out again and installed the new evaporated coil. They did everything they said, what was needed, and the initial followthrough.
When the technician ran a vacuum to make sure the system was holding and that there were no leaks, he told me, "Hey, it's not holding pressure. There might be a leak somewhere. Maybe it might be on my end, on my soldering." He checked it and thought it was there. So he cut it and re-soldered it. He did it two times. At that point, they did another high pressure on it and he stated that there was another leak that he found in my main copper line. But it's leaking inside the wall. They told me that the main copper line needs to be replaced. So they were gonna submit another request for American Home Shield to cover the main line running from the unit to the condenser. Right now, I'm two weeks out with no AC. I called American Home Shield yesterday and they said they haven't heard anything from Quantum about a secondary request.
As far as American Home Shield goes, I love them and the service. I have never had an issue with them. I had several claims in the past and they've always been very prompt. They got me taken care of right away. The day before my AC went out, my daughter's ceiling fan went out. So I went online to my account and made a request regarding the ceiling fan. Within three days, an electrician was out there and he said that the ceiling fan was burnt out. He said they would submit the claim to American Home Shield, wait for the response, and would be back promptly. Then the following week, he came back out and installed my daughter's new ceiling fan.

I like that I can depend on the people that AHS sends. DJ’s HVAC Services came out for the AC and they were fantastic. They came out a couple of days after they called me to make an appointment. My air conditioning pan was all plugged up so the tech had to unplug it and clean it out. He asked me about any questions and checked everything over to make sure everything was working. He did a thorough job.

I've had several things fixed or replaced over the years. I was very unhappy that my sinks weren't under warranty, which they would have been. Because I had water burst out one of the handles on my sink, and American Home Shield said that wasn't covered. I've been with them for 28 years and I could never get somebody on the phone. This time, I did right away who got the people and came out right away and fixed the problem. My air went out, and it's Phoenix. It's hot here. They put a new motor on it.
I asked for a specific company because they had installed my mom's new unit and they had done work for me before, and they were good. They said they would see if they were available. I had called the Arizona Trade Masters, and they said they could take the case, but they said it would be up to AHS. So, they didn't let me have the company I wanted. But the company they gave me did a good job. If my unit went out totally and I needed a replacement, I would go with this company. I've always recommended AHS to people I know because it's stupid to have all these different things and not have a warranty.

American Home Shield is very expensive but I'm in a position where I have to have insurance. If I saved $100 a month, then I could have paid for the repair myself. But you don't always know that. Especially air conditioning. I had a claim for my air conditioner and I was very pleased with that. I'm 89 years old and I've gone quite a while without an air conditioner. I called the company that American Home Shield suggested and the tech said, "I'll be out there in an hour." And he was. I got very good service with that.
It's a very unusual thing for your washing machine and your air conditioner to go out. But that happened to me. The claim for my washing machine has taken me quite a while to get things done. On the whole, American Home Shield is all right. Years ago, I had bad luck with them. I was about ready to quit, but I continued them. This time, they paid off. It got better.

My sump pump went out and submitting the claim online was easy. It just took a little longer than I would like to get a response back from the company, which is totally understandable because they gotta outsource it. The plumber who came out was a hardworking guy. He wasn't sure on why the other one went out and that he was gonna go ahead and replace it. He gave me a little bit of information on the stuff, what I had to look for, and what to look at.

American Home Shield was friendly and professional. They sent me a sample contract before it came into effect because it was 30 days before it became effective. And the rep realized that I didn't read the whole thing. After the 30 days was up, I called about the air conditioner. And it was fixed within 24 hours. It was done right away. The contractor was a local outfit and lives in the same neighborhood as I do. And he was very helpful and offered to help me out with anything else that I needed. Since I'm retired and on a fixed income, it gives me peace of mind that if something goes wrong, it's not gonna cost what a typical plumber or AC person charges. It costs just AHS' fee for sending somebody out, which is fixed.

Our air conditioning unit went out. We did a claim with American Home Shield and everything was good. The guy that fixed it was professional and did a good job. The unit is working so we were happy with everything. I did pay some out of pocket, though. That aside, you save money with American Home Shield. When certain things go wrong, you don't have to pay as much out of pocket. It's worth it.

American Home Shield is a good insurance policy. Whenever something breaks down, we're able to call in a claim and get it fixed within a good amount of time. Recently, we had to have our washing machine fixed. The claims process was fine. I did it on the internet. I love the website. The people called me and they came out. And while they were fixing it, something else broke. So, I had to wait for that part to get in. They came back and they fixed both parts and everything was fine. The repairs were covered. I didn't have to pay anything out of pocket.

My experience with AHS has been pretty good until recently. We had an air conditioning issue. Every time we tried to turn it on, it would trip the breaker. Once I realized that the breaker wouldn't stay on, I filed a claim and had them send somebody out to check it. In the process of checking everything, the contractor took a part of the air conditioner that's outside. The tech said that when he opened it up, there was a dead mouse and the mouse had chewed into the wire that goes into whatever this part is and electrocuted it some. He replaced that part but he still couldn't get the air conditioner to work. He did another part and still couldn't get it to work. The parts worked, but the air conditioner itself was still not working.
He said the mouse shorted out whatever it was but the compressor itself appears to may possibly be bad. He did one more thing and said the compressor needed to be replaced. He told me that from his experience, my warranty would only pay for so much of it and I'd have to pay for part of it, which was understandable. AHS sent me a message saying they were reviewing it.
A few days went by and I tried to get ahold of them to actually speak to somebody. But when I try to contact them or if I have an issue, the only people I can get are foreigners. A lot of times, if you're trying to convey specific things to them, they don't get it. It's kind of pointless. When I first started dealing with AHS, they still had people in the United States and if I had an issue, I could actually speak to somebody. But now, it's impossible.
Then, I got a customer service rep who said they're not paying for the claim and they don't cover it. He said the problem exists because of an animal getting into our thing and they don't cover animals. I'm a little perturbed with that because I pay $90 a month every month and have been for years. This is probably one of the most expensive things that could happen as far as I know. I've only used AHS for anything that's had to do with my AC or heating units and now, we actually need the coverage and they're telling me they're not gonna cover it. They seem to think that this is completely due to this mouse and I feel like that's just an excuse. They're just trying to come up with a reason not to pay it. I can't get ahold of anybody so I can't plead my case to anybody who's actually gonna be more than just somebody who answers the phone.
My wife and I are contemplating if we're continuing with them. In the process of looking things up, I discovered that there are a lot of people who are having problems with that. They're canceling and they're still being charged and having to stop credit cards and stop payments. That's where I'm at with them, which is really disappointing because we've been a firm believer in it because of my parents.

The experience we had with American Home Shield was very refreshing. I called for a washer and dryer issue and they got someone right away. They said, "This person will call and set up a time," and they did. They worked with me on when I could have somebody here. When they showed up for their appointment, it was very timely. They ordered the part very quickly, and it came in quicker than they thought it did, and we got it installed. The tech did his work very efficiently. He talked to me about what the problems were and let me show him what it was doing. He worked on it himself and he told me what needed to be done. When he came back, he was the same way. He also cleaned up after himself. He was a friendly person, but at all times, he was very professional. The girl on the phone was just as kind and very cheerful. It was good customer service.
One person was able to come out and do both the washer and the dryer. They did not charge me for a double thing, even though it was two appliances. I was impressed by that because they could very easily say, "Well, that's two different appliances and we're gonna charge you." But they did not. I was very impressed with these people, and I would very much like to use them in the future.

Overall, my experience submitting a claim to American Home Shield is really good. I just had two claims last week and it was painless. One was a plumbing repair and the other was for a pool pump repair. My pool guy that does the regular maintenance said that the housing of the pump was cracked. He told me what it was gonna cost to fix it, and then I remembered that I had my pool on my Home Shield. So, I went online and filed a claim. The contractor called the next day, scheduled the service, and then came out within 24 hours and they fixed it. Both the technician and the plumber were amazing.
I've had trouble in the past, not with professionalism, but more with not being able to call American Home Shield. If you call them, you're gonna be on hold for three hours. I don't wanna call their customer service. It's usually somebody that doesn't speak English and you're on hold for 45 minutes trying to get through. But with the way that you have to do it, you go online, sign into your account, and you pay before you get a choice. There's no box to give an explanation. It's all just, "Check these boxes." So, if you have an electrical problem, you can't really identify what it is. You just have to click a box, and then you pay, and then they call you. But overall, it's great. I'll recommend it to anyone I talk to.

It's pretty easy to submit a claim. You can do it verbally or within the app. Sometimes, when you do it verbally, they send you a link so that you can do a recording if it's making a noise. So it depends on the appliance. The people that come out for the companies that American Home Shield has have always been great, so I've never had any issues with any of them. They usually try to get out in a timely fashion. However, it's Arizona, and when the air conditioning goes out, it can take a bit if they don't have the parts.
When the air conditioning for the basement was out, it turned out that the compressor completely died. So the contractor ordered a new one. When they submitted it to American Shield, it was a little bit slower than I would have liked. But it is what it is. It took about two days for American Home Shield to approve a part, so that was bothersome to me, especially when it was hotter than hell and the air conditioning was out.
The following week, my upstairs air conditioning unit had problems, so I had to go to American Home Shield and they added it to the deal. When they came out to fix it after they got the compressor, my husband was talking with the guy and the guy said if I didn't have the warranty, we would have been probably paying around 3,200 for that visit. So it was a big positive. If I had to pay $800 a year for American Home Shield and I just covered 3,200 on one visit, then we're golden. The per month and the fee still are less than what one specific thing would have cost.
I've been happy with American Home Shield but they need to be a little bit more transparent. They need to be more clear on what they will cover it replaces. They have a list, but they're not completely 100% clear. When you ask the people on the phone the specific question, they just say, “Refer to your contract.” But the contract doesn't say word for word what people want to hear.

I sent in a claim for a leaky pipe. It was causing a puddle on the floor in the basement. The contractor got out here in two days. The tech was very nice. But I had a concern because the appointment was supposed to be between 9:00 and 1:00, and I had to leave at 1:45 to pick up my granddaughter. I wanted to make sure that he didn't come at 1:00, and then he would be here later than 1:45. So I called the day of the appointment, and they got me in quicker. That was nice of them. He fixed the issue. I had a water heater replaced some years ago, and it cost me more than I thought it should. I thought it was all covered but it wasn't. Since they were replacing the unit, they had to get it up to code. They had to put a drip pan. Other than that, the claim submission is always very good.

The plumber that came out was professional. He knew what he was doing. He got things done and realized he couldn't fix it. So he got the replacement water heater for us. The claims process went fine. They had a little problem with scheduling it. But other than that, everybody was busy. So they got it done. I like American Home Shield. I like the way that they process things. They promptly replaced equipment that failed and couldn't be repaired. So everything's okay.

I've seen American Home Shield's website change over the years and currently, it's okay the way it is. It's working a lot better than in the past. I had a plumbing problem and after I submitted the service request online, I received a text and an email letting me know which vendor would be answering, to expect within 24 hours, and to schedule and hear from that vendor. The vendor was very professional and efficient. They diagnosed what the problem was and resolved the problem in a timely manner.
Since we've been a client of Home Shield in '94, there were some vendors that were very suspect, and they did not resolve the problems that we had. With Home Shield's policy that they had in place, we didn't get our issue resolved. For instance, many years ago, the plumber that they brought in cut into the wall and replaced some lines. We also had to install a water pressure thing in the yard. So that was an additional $400 that we had to do. After it was all said and done, we still had the problem of the drip out of the faucet and sink. So it never got resolved. Home Shield wouldn't call in another plumbing company. It has to be the same company to resolve it.
We've had lots of claims over the many years with Home Shield and some of the vendors were really professional. They knew their stuff, and as they talked and resolved our issue, it all worked out. The issue gets resolved. But then I've had others that were on the other end of that spectrum. I noticed it was always these companies that we never heard of before. For whatever reason, they try to oversell us on there. They're aware of what's not covered by Home Shield. So they would then make money on that part and we had those types of experiences numerous times. But overall, I would definitely recommend American Home Shield because it's definitely a good option to not having any home warranty insurance. There are more positives than negatives that I found in working with a home warranty system.

We pay for a service, and American Home Shield delivers it. I like the safety in knowing that if something happens, you can call someone and they can be there. We always started out with the top tier coverage. But I don't like that our monthly fees go up, but the coverage has gone down. When we had an electrical issue with one of our sockets, the tech came in but did not test the socket. He just told us he would have to tear out our wall to trace down the wire, and it wouldn't be covered. The only thing that would be covered would be the electrical.
When we had an issue with our gas cooktop, it took about two and a half months to resolve, and we had to cook on hot plates. Two months without a cooktop was tough. When we got the hot water tank replaced, it's in the attic and they made us take out the stairs, so we had to get someone to take the stairs out and then put it back in. We had to pay extra for all of that. When the breaker tripped, the person that came out checked everything before he left and we appreciate that, even though it was just a breaker and he flipped it and it came on.

I had a very pleasant experience with American Home Shield. This was my first time using them, and I was impressed. One issue I had was with my garbage disposal. They took my call and had someone to promptly call me back, which amazed me as well. DrainGo was very polite when they came out, and handled my situation. They had to replace that garbage disposal. My next call was my icemaker. It had stopped making ice. I called American Home Shield and they were true. They said they would get back, and they did. That's what I liked about them. They followed up on what they said. The tech said it was a sensor, so he had to replace it. The technicians that came out let me know that whatever the issue was, it would be resolved. And they were true to their word, too, so I appreciate AHS. I would happily tell any of my friends AHS is the way to go.

When I called in the claim for the air conditioner, American Home Shield said that somebody would contact me to schedule the service. We set up the schedule and then the service technician called prior to arrival at my request. They originally gave me a time frame of between 1:00 and 5:00. The technician called to see if we could come earlier and we made that arrangement. He said, “Five minutes.” I told him to give me 15 minutes. Then he showed up. He looked at the thermostat. He went around back to reset the breaker and the system started again. He went to his truck, got a capacitor, shut the system down, and put in the new capacitor. Then he restarted the system and checked the temperatures inside the house. I was very satisfied with the service. For someone who could not afford to pay for some of these repairs, American Home Shield or a home warranty company is the way to go.

I've had them for years and they've gone up in price. Also, it's $100 for someone to come out here and they used to wait until the tech fixed the issue before taking the $100 out. But now, they take it no matter what, whether the tech fixes it or not. That's the only part I don't like. That's kind of unfair. But I used them the other day for my water heater and it was fine. I called them and they gave me the person who's going to fix it. The tech contacted me and let me know what time he was coming. He showed up, looked at the water heater, did something to it, and it was fine. Usually, the service people that they deal with can fix the issue.

My furnace was not working. I called American Home Shield. They booked an appointment for somebody to come and have a look at it. I was given the name of the company and that they would contact me. They got in touch, and the guy came. But he came even before the scheduled time that he said he would arrive. He said it was the capacitor. So, he changed it. The air condition is functioning, but the furnace is yet to be replaced. The contractor hasn't done that because it's a process. AHS has to order it before they can do that. But if I didn't have the insurance, I would have to pay maybe 6,000 or over. It's good when I need it most. When I'm paying for it, I don't like it, but when problems come, I see the importance of it. And they've been prompt with their response and with their process. The only negative feedback is there were times when I called and wanted to talk to someone and it was long holds. This last incident, American Home Shield said it was a 10-minute hold, which wasn't bad. But there were times when it was four and six-hour wait times and there was no option to leave my number and have them call me back. That has been a couple of years, but that was poor customer service. If I needed to talk to a live person, it was almost impossible. But if something breaks, it's convenient to have somebody that can find a repairman come instead of me trying to find someone to do it. I had a problem with a valve in my shower and the contractor repaired it. The contractor notified me they were on the way, they got here, diagnosed it and had to get AHS' okay to do the repair. I referred AHS to several family members that now use them.

I'm having trouble right now. I have a claim I put in a few weeks ago and another claim last week. They've come and fixed the dishwasher but I haven't heard back on my washer. It's been a few weeks. But overall, the service is pretty good and I have peace of mind.

I've submitted three claims. The first one was the refrigerator would not get cool. American Home Shield sent a professional out. He repaired it where that problem shouldn't happen anymore. We also had a problem with our air conditioning upstairs, and submitted a claim. The guy came out. He didn't see anything wrong. When he came out, he got it working. Three months later, we had the same thing happen. And we had to submit another claim because that one had timed out. But this time the guy came out, and we had a faulty thermostat. So, he changed the thermostat out and got that squared away for us. We're pleased with the effectiveness of the repairs.
