I just switched to Allstate this year. I just received a notice that my coverage had changed another $60 per year because I chose not to pay via autopay. This was never mentioned when I signed up with Allstate. I am so sick of these hidden fees and practices. I want to report them to whomever has domain over these unscrupulous practices. I would rather go back to Nationwide and pay a higher fee than to have to deal with these types of practices.

Joke of a company. They canceled my insurance with no notification and no explanation. Called to understand what happened and why, and they wouldn't give me any explanation. Furthermore, their records indicated that I haven't been insured since 2024, yet I had an insurance card expiring in June 2025. I have a perfect driving record, and I've been a customer for a DECADE. They literally Treated me like trash. Customer service is terrible. They don't care about you. They're overpriced. Move on.

I'd successfully signed on with agent Matthew ** in Oct. 2024. Automated billing so I wouldn't have to fuss with monthly payments. My policy canceled without warning in April 2025 because of 'non-payment' like Wth. Called the local office to 'be informed' that Matthew left months ago---no email nothing. So my claim was never even properly processed! Had I'd had an accident or what, I'd have been SOL. Total joke. Visited the local office to see it near empty---most of the agents had left! Red flag. The lone agent gave me slackline about 'getting me back into the system' with the $120 cash I paid for "reinstatment" and never happened, as calls to Customer Service "informed" me I'd never been processed, so no record of any account! TOTAL SCAM. AVOID.

I’ve been a customer with Allstate for almost 5 years and their business model is such that each year there’s a rate increase, which the customer knows nothing about and this rate increase automatically wipes out any discount you’ve earned for that year. After the first year with Allstate, they enticed me to leave GEIGO, stating that me adding my car under their umbrella policy; I'd receive a discount and when I phoned a year after adding my car, I was told that insurance went up; that's why I didn't receive the discount. I have discounts with this insurance company, yet I don't benefit from those discounts; Allstate does.
I’ve NEVER got notification of a rate increase, so I don’t know if this transaction is valid. Allstate entices you with various discounts like the “Claim-Free Bonus,” knowing full well the customer will NEVER get that Claim-Free Bonus because it's instantly absorbed by the annual rate increases, that no one knows about. There’s little to no transparency in the insurance industry, which makes it ripe with fraud, and that’s what this is: FRAUD.

Their business model appears to involve harassing people until they give in and buy insurance. I got a quote from Allstate's website last night and this morning I had 7 phone calls from Allstate agents in less than 2 hours. And 3 more since then. This aggressive approach has completely put me off ever dealing with Allstate.

My car was stolen June 11,24. They totaled it, they didn't call to tell me the towing company did. After that they charged my bank for the 3 months I was without a car. It took them two months to payout for my totaled car. I've been calling and trying to get over $500. Back from charges that should not have been charged because I had no car to insure after mine was totaled. I don't trust them. They raised my car ins from $198. To $398. N after 4 months wanted me to pay $876. A month.
I 68 years old, til then I'd had no tickets of any kind and no accidents in over 35 years. You're not in Good Hands With Allstate. I'd stay away. But I'm still calling them after 15 months to get back the overcharged money. I live on a budget, I have tried being nice and Always respectful, but I'm getting nowhere. You pay but if charged for a wrecked car. They don't want to pay that back. "Oh it's in the mail." Or "We'll investigate it." 15 months later I'm still calling.. Would You Give The Your Money. And Forget It. No. I'm not either. They are crooks, no more than a thief.

Recently we moved from one state to another. I requested my insurance to be stopped in Ohio which my car insurance was but not the rental. They corrected the rental and I received a refund BUT I asked them if I had an outstanding balance, the agent said no. This was last week. Today I received a text from collections so I called Allstate. They confirmed that was true. Why didn’t they tell me that last week which I would have paid it? They sent this bills to the wrong address so that was the reason for last week’s call to verify these bills were correct in the first place. The other frustrating thing is they have my credit card due to automatic payment process. Why didn’t they use my credit card for this bill? Now this is on my credit score and they spent extra money to pay a collections company. Not very happy right now.

First, you have to pay for your own rental even if the accident was your fault. 2nd they don't give you all your money back. I paid $700 in dang on rentals and only for $400 dollars back. People don't need part of their money back not half. This economy is already messed up. The accident was already not my fault. They need to make that illegal.

To Whom It May Concern, This letter serves as a final demand for an immediate refund of $651.39, which Allstate unlawfully charged me for coverage from June 1, 2025, through September 10, 2025. Allstate’s actions demonstrate clear bad faith, negligence, and violation of Rhode Island insurance law. When I applied for coverage, I accurately disclosed that my property has 4 units, supported by county tax assessment records. Allstate wrongfully canceled my policy, claiming the property had more than 4 units. The policy was reinstated only after I provided proof. During reinstatement, Allstate unilaterally removed my paperless delivery enrollment, preventing me from receiving any notice of premium changes.
Subsequently, Allstate retroactively increased my premium by $2,345.01 based on an inflated square footage (3,120 sq. ft.) that I never authorized. The original 2,100 sq. ft. figure was never confirmed by me. I demand that Allstate review all recorded calls from the time of application to confirm this fact. Under Rhode Island law (230-RICR-20-20-1.6 and 230-RICR-20-20-1.7), insurers must provide proper written notice of premium increases exceeding 10% at least 60 days before policy expiration. Allstate’s actions — including removing my paperless delivery and mailing notices to a vacant, under-construction property — constitute willful non-compliance, making the retroactive charges invalid and unlawful. I demand immediate refund of $651.39 within 7 calendar days of receipt of this letter. If Allstate fails to comply:
I will escalate this matter to the Rhode Island Department of Business Regulation, Insurance Division.I will pursue all legal remedies available, including claims for damages and attorney fees resulting from Allstate’s unlawful overcharge.
Allstate created this problem entirely through its own errors. I expect prompt and complete resolution without further delay.

Allstate canceled my auto insurance without informing me, never reinstated it, and then when I requested it to be reinstated after paying my outstanding balance, they denied my reinstatement, also without informing, over one late payment, which I paid just a few days later once I realized I missed the payment. When I tell you Allstate has no idea about what hospitality and customer service means this is an understatement. I'm very disappointed.
I ended up going with their competitor and saved $80 a month in auto insurance. So it was a blessing in disguise. But I want other people to know about this because they really put me in a bad position and did not inform me that they had canceled my policy. My family was driving without car coverage since the beginning of the month and no one informed me. Very disappointed in Allstate, I would have stayed with them forever.... I was a big proponent for Allstate, I was getting my friends and family to sign up, but then they canceled me. And made it very difficult on my family. I will never sign up for another Allstate policy again.

I'm writing this to help anyone to not use Allstate Insurance. I was in a car accident, my car was in the shop, Crash Champions, for 6 MONTHS while still paying allstate car insurance on it and the monthly car note, 6 MONTHS!!! When I finally got the car back it was fixed so terribly and things were even spelled wrong. I let Allstate know so they decided to send it to another location with the SAME TERRIBLE BUSINESS CRASH CHAMPIONS, Then they wanted the same amount of money just to fix what their other shop messed up. So the first shop charged Allstate $33,000 and the second one, which is the same shop wants $33,000 more so they finally decided to "Total" out my car. Then Allstate charged me twice for the deductible!
They are all uneducated thieves! They moved me around through five different agents over that 6 months. They were always confused and laughed at me and didn't care! I had to call endlessly just to get a call back! You are definitely NOT in good hands! You are in the devil's hands with them! So since they're going to sue Crash Champions business to get their first $33,000 back that means they "totaled" out my car which is a $100,000 car for only $33,000!!! Someone is getting a $100,000 for $33,000. Crooked thieves!!! So I'm sitting there paying Allstate $700 a month for 6 months on a car that I didn't even have because they had it sitting in a trashy shop. So basically after paying my $2000 car note and paying allstate $700 for 6 months I'm out of pocket about $20,000 without a car for half a year, because they are greedy, lazy, careless, rude, unorganized lying thieves! USE ANYONE BUT ALLSTATE!!!

I don’t know where to begin with Allstate. I had them for a while and they randomly raised my auto premium by considerable margin. I called to cancel this, got my cancellation verification and was already insured by State Farm (much better company by the way). About a month later I start getting these collection agency letters for the month after I’d already cancelled with confirmation emails. I had numerous phone calls with Allstate since verifying that the policy was canceled and to ignore the collection agency letter. I also contacted the collection agency letting them know what was going on. Well, after months and months and months low and behold it once up on my credit. So I reach out again with my verification. They let me know that although my account is canceled, I need to personally sign some documentation which was never mentioned before.
The comical side of the story goes to the outsourcing of the phone calls to foreigners. I kept getting disconnected and every time I called back the same woman I talked to had a different name. I called her out on it and said I just talk to you, and she swore that it wasn’t her, but yet knew me by first name basis, and all the issues I was having. The first time I called her name was Rose and the second time I called her name was Eliza. Meanwhile, here’s Max the supervisor who gets disconnected for me four times. At this point, anyone having issues with Allstate like this are better going to a lawyer. This is the most ridiculous scam trash company I have ever dealt with as far as an insurance policy. It’s illegal to even double charge for auto insurance or carry numerous policies on the same car. I had complete documentation that I already had State Farm for the time they’re trying to bill me for.

As a homeowner we pay for insurance that can be denied. When it’s time to place a claim. In mid August it rained for 24 hours. Water enter my residence, causing damage. Due to weight of the water, and saturated soil, a pipe burst. Shane, the adjuster claimed it was my sub pump, that failed. I explained to him the pump hasn’t failed. Would you like to try it. No test was conducted. I was asked, where did the water come from? I stated to Shane, I do not know. I was asked for the plumbers report. I have it in my email. When dealing with the public. Paying customers. Shouldn’t have to deal with, a condescending attitude.
Furthermore, I am not a licensed professional plumber. No photos were taken. No test. They never spoke with the licensed plumber. Just a quick walk around. I’ve had the pipes serviced twice in 3 years. Along with the grease trap vacuumed. I even had my foundation tested, by water proofing professionals. No cracks were located. I am out of pocket for $11K. And, my insurance was paid in full, for the year. I don’t recommend Allstate. All of my documents were sent. No one took the time to call, or email me. Poor communication. Lack of service. They aren’t even trying to meet me halfway. Canceled!

I always valued being an Allstate customer until recently.... until they attacked my livelihood, credit score and right to prosperity. Customer service and other staff lied, were rude, belittling and disrespectful. They used the state insurance regulatory agent to berate me. While I ask them to refund an overpayment they submitted my information to a debt collector demanding more $$. Of course the debt collector calls at the most inconvenient time evenings, weekends and holidays or first thing in the morning. They even offered to discount the alleged debt.
I was a customer with them for 25 years. Remaining a customer after they carelessly mixed up my account with my maiden family relatives was the biggest mistake. They went on to execute a rider on my account without permission and charge me 10 months of lease car insurance payments thru auto enrollment after they were notified the lease ended. I was apprehensive about approving autoenroll in the first place but needed to take the discount it provided. Allstate swindles their customers when they need it most. This is extortion, blackmail and blatant negligence. I have yet to speak to one agent that took the matter seriously they rebuffed me with sarcasm, condescending remarks, and insincere apologies. They conveniently dispose of or disregard of information that favors my ask and retort with dismissive legal jargon. I did not ask for a court battle... I asked for a refund.

They are the worst, I was with one company for 4 years, (Allstate) I would call and no one would answer the phone or if they did, they couldn't answer my question and someone else would call back but never did. They tried to get out of replacing my roof a few years back, and I had to go over their heads to get that done. I've had a lot of comprehensive claims so It makes it so that I can't move to another company. I recently moved to another Allstate company due to not being satisfied.
My new problem is that I had auto draft, and it would sometimes come out before my retirement check did. I called them and asked for the date to be changed which they couldn't do until next month, well they never did it and to make a long story short by the time I did I had two unpaid auto draws due to them not taking care of me. So Now I have to wait a year for auto draft, and I am paying an arm and a leg for their mistake and that it can't be changed in the system, which is bull! I have been with them almost 5 years. Disappointed with Claims Process. I recently had a frustrating experience with Allstate after filing a claim for an accident where another driver rear-ended my vehicle. Although the damage wasn’t severe, it was clearly visible and documented with photos. I contacted the police at the time of the incident, but they refused to make a report, stating that the insurance companies would handle it.
I submitted the claim with all necessary information, including pictures of the damage, but after 15 days, I received a letter from Allstate stating they would not cover the damage due to "lack of evidence." This decision feels extremely unfair and leaves me angry—not only at the officer for not making a report, but also at Allstate for dismissing the clear evidence I provided. You can't collect any rewards if you cancel your policy. All state was going to bill me for an unauthorized quoted amount.
Then the same thing happened with my homeowner's insurance right after I brought in the completed paperwork for having a new roof installed. Agent quoted me one amount and then SURPRISE!!!! All state bills me for nearly 50.00 more. Naw.... Cancelled. These people are supposed to work for ME.... Too many lies and mistakes. Review Title: Extremely Disappointed – Rude and Unhelpful After Their Client Hit My Car. I rarely leave reviews, but my experience with Allstate has been frustrating enough that I feel obligated to warn others. One of Allstate’s insured clients hit my vehicle, and instead of stepping up to take responsibility, Allstate has been completely unhelpful and dismissive. The accident caused my car to roll a significant distance, and shortly after, I began experiencing issues with the transmission—something that was working perfectly before the collision.
Despite clear cause-and-effect circumstances, Allstate has refused to acknowledge or cover the transmission damage. Even worse, the representatives I spoke with were rude, unprofessional, and completely lacking in empathy. Rather than investigate thoroughly or work with me on a solution, they were quick to push blame elsewhere and shut down the claim.
It’s incredibly frustrating dealing with an insurance company that advertises “you’re in good hands” but does the bare minimum when it comes to supporting people impacted by their own policyholders. Based on my experience, you are absolutely NOT in good hands with Allstate. If you’re considering Allstate as your insurer—or dealing with a claim against one of their clients—prepare for resistance, gaslighting, and a complete lack of customer service.

Zip ties! Asked the insurance guy why he didn't fix the damage done by the water and he said the water didn't do that damaged. Really? Does he know anything about cars? He is an adjuster, but has no idea what happens when a car is caught in a flash flood? My advice to you is find a different insurance agency, because this one employs ** for adjusters! I tried to upload the pictures of the flood and what it did to my car and it would not let me.

Absolutely horrible, I have had issues with them for over a month now, I changed my payment date before it was due made sure I’d have no fees or get in any type of trouble, was told multiple of times no I would not have a fee or anything, well the worker did not update the system that automatically withdraws from your account, my prior due date was the 15th, I changed it to the 20th. Well they pulled it on the 18th, it went through and then they tried again on the 29th. I reached out and was told it was due to an error a worker made but they could do nothing to remove the fees even though I had already paid my insurance earlier than the date it was due!! So I called the lady was really helpful so I thought.
After 30 mins she says yes that was on us tells me exactly what they did wrong was told she put a note on my file and I'd be called back within 5 business days, I waited with no call back. Due to this I chose to not renew my policy along with they wanted $100 more a month when I have a clean driving record. They then again are saying sucks to be me, those charges are on me and will not be removed it, doesn’t matter what the others had said and then sarcastically said you’re “polite and humble” and she won’t work with me due to me calling out the negligence and shitty customer service they are providing. Allstate has given me the worst experience and stress on top of my many injuries from the crash. They have been untruthful in way I can prove by their own correspondence with me. They played a game of pay me half call it payment made and rental car is no longer covered yet you haven’t been paid. Could I send in $5 on my insurance and call it payment made? It is a hostile game they played and not a single person aware of what the other has done. It was said I received paperwork on xx day when in fact the esign document would not download on repeated attempts and this co-partner thing they had said they would send me the paperwork by mail XX days ago.
So here I stand with paperwork delivered on XX date proving they are wrong. So they were angry it was all immediately done through a esign that did not function for me and decided they would punish me by paying me half of the agreed upon settlement until they get the paperwork they failed to provide. So I cancelled my policy, why pay for a truck you no longer have and will go back to that green lizard thing.

My experience with the Wolter Agency (Owned by Blake Wolter- Atlanta, GA) has been one of the most disappointing and frustrating insurance experiences I’ve ever encountered. After recently purchasing a home in the Atlanta area, I was referred to this agency by my mortgage lender. Initially, I was pleased with the quote provided for my homeowners insurance through Allstate. Unfortunately, the experience quickly unraveled into what I can only describe as predatory and misleading.
Shortly after purchasing the homeowners policy, Mr. Wolter contacted me to say the underwriter required proof of residence, including photos of me having moved in and even photos of clothing hanging in the closet. This request felt not only invasive, but also discriminatory. I felt racially profiled, which made me extremely uncomfortable. As a result, I canceled the policy and secured a new one with a different agency.
However, what was not disclosed to me was that canceling the homeowners policy would affect my auto insurance premiums. My auto policy increased by over $120—a significant and unexpected cost. Additionally, I was misled about my billing structure. Despite being told I was paying for a monthly policy and had to pay three months upfront, I was later billed for an additional three months. This level of miscommunication and misinformation is unacceptable. In my experience, Mr. Blake Wolter was not transparent, forthcoming, or honest in his dealings. I strongly caution potential clients to think twice before working with this agency. Transparency, fairness, and integrity are fundamental in the insurance business—qualities I did not experience here. Buyer beware.

They never Apologized for their mistake and dragged their feet getting me paid for my total loss. They will say and do anything to get out of taking care of their customers. Did some research and they are quick to deny claims far more than their competitors do. They also lie and delay getting anything done.
It took a month for them to before they took my lawsuit seriously and said they would get this taken care of quickly which they did not. Getting anyone you need to speak to is like pulling teeth. ⚠️ Warning About Allstate Insurance and Enterprise Car Rental Practices. ⚠️ I want to share my recent frustrating experience with Allstate Car Insurance and Enterprise Car Rental to warn others about potential unfair practices. I was rear-ended in a car accident and had to bring my vehicle to a repair shop recommended by Allstate. They estimated the repairs would take 3–4 days. Since I have rental car coverage through Allstate (up to $40/day), I booked a rental car through their platform, which directed me to Enterprise Car Rental.
I even received confirmation from Enterprise, along with a confirmation number, that the car I reserved in my price range was available and ready for pickup. When I arrived at Enterprise Car Rental, I was told the car I reserved was “unavailable.” Instead, I was pressured to rent a car at a significantly higher price than what I had reserved. I felt cornered and had no choice but to accept, thinking it was only for a few days. But yesterday, I was informed that my car repairs will take TWO WEEKS instead of the original estimate. This means I now face hundreds of dollars in unexpected out-of-pocket costs for a rental car that I didn’t even.
To make matters worse, I tried to reserve a different car as a regular customer (not linked to Allstate). When Enterprise found out I was affiliated with Allstate, the lower-priced cars suddenly became “unavailable.” It seems like Enterprise is intentionally withholding cars at lower price points for Allstate-referred customers.
When I contacted Allstate for help, they claimed they have no control over what Enterprise does. But how is it fair that Allstate promotes a partnership that leaves customers like me paying far more than their policy covers? Because of this coordinated system between Allstate and Enterprise, I’m now stuck paying hundreds of dollars out of pocket for a rental car I didn’t choose and shouldn’t have to pay extra for. If you’re using Allstate Insurance for a rental car after an accident, double-check everything before pickup.
Be prepared for Enterprise to claim your reserved car isn’t available and try to upsell you. Don’t be afraid to push back or explore alternatives. I believe this is a deliberate setup targeting Allstate customers. The lack of transparency and accountability from both companies is unacceptable, and I want others to know about it. If you’ve experienced something similar, please share your story. It’s time to hold these companies accountable for how they treat their customers.

Allstate no longer direct bills rental car agencies. They sent me a check for $800 for a rental and made sure to say that's all I going to get. My problem is it took over 2 weeks for Allstate to send an adjuster to see the vehicle- and that was with me calling several times. The body shop could not begin work on the car- for good reason. If the car is declared a total loss they would not get paid. So we have used up our entire rental- while waiting for Allstate just to see the car. So a 2 week job will take over a month. I expect better claims service than this.

You are definitely not in good hands with Allstate. I've been with them for 18 years and had two claims that were just horribly handled. I am so frustrated and can't understand how they are still a viable option for anyone. I plan to leave them in the new year and am shocked at how much I can save at just about any other vendor. Even if money was not the issue, their service on these claims was so frustrating that I have considered suing them and I've never wanted to sue or have anything to do with courts or anything related.
On the first claim, they rewarded a huge sum to a driver I hit at 2 miles an hour with zero visible damage to either car. The driver was alone when hit, yet they rewarded damages and totaled their car and medical for her and her four children. I was shocked by the obvious fraud and provided them with evidence (photos from the accident). They said they would look into it, but nothing changed.
On the second claim, my son hit and scraped a rear bumper at a right-hand merge at a traffic light. The victim tried the very same, claiming 10K in damages and medical. Again I provided photos. Again they communicated very little with us but did investigate. In this instance, they investigated for over a year. In that time, my son lost his license and received huge consequences from the untimely resolution of the case. It was a travesty.
I have used Allstate for auto because they offered to bundle it with my homeowners. Their homeowner's insurance is also a complete sham. Never Ever use any Allstate products if you want anything other than an insurance card. They were always timely with sending cards and certainly have never missed an opportunity to communicate about billing. If you are looking for a place to spend your money and receive incomplete complete or absent representation and communication, but high billing, then Allstate is maybe the best pick. If you need insurance to actually be by your side and communicate through the claim process and resolve matters in a reasonable and coherent fashion then Allstate is the worst choice possible.

In our perspective, we experienced a hostile encounter with an employee who was very abrupt, disrespectful, and made false disparagingly comments in our opinion. If there is an issue with customers' policies, that should be communicated in a respectful tone and to attack the customer in a hostile negative way is incredibly disheartening. Unfortunately, we were left truly shaken with the encounter. It is more upsetting though that our agent seemed to handle this exchange in a passive way as if this treatment to paying customers was acceptable. The most demeaning aspect to this encounter was our money was happily accepted at the same time. It is because of this treatment, we will be replacing our insurance needs with another company as soon as possible.

I paid for a year of homeowner's insurance at closing. A month later, they sent me a letter stating I owed them over $3,000 more. My account said I was paid in full. Speaking with the customer service, they said my account was paid in full and it must have been an error. A few months later, I get a letter stating they were going to cancel my policy due to non-payment, but didn't receive it until after the cancellation date. I got on a three-way call with my lender and Allstate, and they said my account was still in good standing and I simply owed an additional payment. So my lender sent them the money.
A month later, I received a check in the mail for the payment made on the already canceled policy. I called Allstate, no answer. I called my lender and we did an analysis on payments and discovered Allstate had charged 250% the contracted and signed amount, attempting to change the terms of the contract after it was signed and payment was made. This is illegal except in a few scenarios. I knew of none that applied, however, was still willing to hear their side of things and see if it was an error or if I had missed something. Going back through all correspondence they sent to me, they sent a letter with the changed amount but did not provide an explanation.
I called Allstate again, and received no answer. I used the chat feature on the website and was told the policy was not able to be reinstated (not what I asked), but would I like to speak to a licensed agent to increase my auto coverage or sign up for text messages? I asked to speak to a licensed agent as mine was not returning my calls. He said he made a typo and no licensed agent was available. I had to file a complaint with my state department of insurance.
This was not even to file a claim; it was to give them money for a policy I have not yet used. I decided if this was how they were going to treat me before even needing to use the insurance, how much worse would it be if I did! I promptly moved all coverage to another company and would not do business with Allstate again if they offered me coverage for $0.

One rep claimed it could not be done and gave me an incorrect number to a third party sales company. When I called the second time finally a rep told me I would have to speak to the licensing department. So I called. They told me I would have to call back in two days because my plan is in pending status. I called back on 9/3. The agent had to go through the back office so they did indeed change my date for my policy and they sent me new insurance cards and an outline of my plan to have as proof of insurance. So all was said and done. On the 9th, 5 days after the plan was made they sent me an email with a new policy number that I just saw yesterday. I only discovered it because a notice came to me about reviewing my billing statement.
When I opened the document there was a bill for a monthly premium for a lot more than what I was originally quoted and a much higher monthly payment along with an earlier billing date. I wanted to know what was going on. I called and they claimed because I changed the date I lost a discount causing the plan to change in price and it incurred a new policy number. I was not made aware that by changing the start date that would create a change in the price of the policy due to losing a discount. If I had known that I would not have changed the date at all and just ran the risk of driving the car uninsured. So I'm waiting to see if their licensing department is going to have a resolution for me or not. If not they will be losing a customer which I'm sure they won't miss. I now understand why they have a 1.5 rating out of 5 on Consumer Affairs.

So now we are gone and will be changing our homeowner's policy too.

If I could share my experience so people stay clear of this company, I have beyond full coverage. I submitted claim last month and everyday a advisor tells me one more business day for estimate to be complete. It's a lie. I was hit by an Allstate customer and now I'm without a car because the rental company is asking me to pay upfront a $300 deposit. I just paid my rent and other bills so I have no extra money and now I'm about to miss work tomorrow due to lack of funds. Then I usually drive for Uber on the weekends to make my extra money and I can't even do that. The staff does not care at all. The last time someone hit me the rental was completely covered. I didn't pay a deposit. This is absolutely ridiculous. I was told over the phone twice that the deposit would at least be $50-100. I don't have $300 lying around. This is the worst experience ever.

Horrible chat service. Unable or unwilling to assist. Unable or unwilling to transfer to a supervisor who can assist. Allstate emailed advising my policy renews on 8/7/24 and my card would be charged on 8/1/24. I logged in on 7/31/24 to update the policy and payment, only to find out they processed the payment early. Their chat agent advises this is normal behaviour. As a result, I've lost the minor discount available for paying in full which is necessary because my NEW policy (from 2/1/24) has increased over 25% in less than 6 months - with no change to my driving, my vehicle, or my policy.

Warning to all about Allstate's fraudulent claims handling process. I was recently a victim of a rear-end collision. I submitted a claim through my insurance (Allstate). The other driver accepted responsibility and the other driver's insurer, The General, established liability on their policyholder. I visited two different body shops within Allstate's "Good Hands Network" for repair estimates. The first collision center, O'Rielly Collision Center, was advised by Allstate that I was looking for a payout. Coincidentally, O'Rielly wrote a fraudulent and an incomplete low-estimate after receiving notification from Allstate that I was looking for a payout.
I visited a second body shop, also within the Allstate's so-called "Good Hands Network", Caliber Collision. The Caliber collision team was honest and reliable and took the time to inspect my vehicle and provide a reliable estimate for repairs. The estimate was sent to Allstate. Given that the estimate was real (unlike O'Rielly's) and provided for an accurate figure for repairs, Allstate refused to honor and approve of the estimate.
In essence, Allstate is trying to force me to accept a payout for the lowest and inaccurate estimate. It's obvious there is some fraud and conspiracy going on between the insurance companies handling the claim and the collision centers that they partner with. Thankfully I have all of this documented in writing. Let's get the legal teams involved and we will let a judge decide who is correct.

I had Allstate for my homeowner's insurance for ten years. I was an exemplary customer, paying my dues and making no claims. A couple of months ago, I made a very minimal wind damage claim on my policy. Shortly after, Allstate terminated my policy based on me having trees on my property. I asked what I could do to remedy the problem, and Allstate had the nerve to tell me that I needed to remove all trees from at least 1000 feet from my home, after which, Allstate may reconsider insuring me. In order to comply with their request, I would have to also rip out all of my neighbors' trees as well. I easily secured superior coverage with another company for about the same price. In my experience, Allstate took my money for literally a decade and then dropped me like a hot potato after I made a small claim on the policy. I do not recommend Allstate.

This estimate includes Allstate's quoted 9.5 hours of labor and the part ($250). I don’t know what janky shop they want me to use, but any good shop won’t charge less than $100 per hour for labor, and the part from Ford is just over $1400. They are happy to charge $300+ a month for poor car insurance, but when they have to pay, you need an act of God to get your money. Rather than accept full liability for their customer's negligence, Allstate opted to take 80% liability and hold us responsible for the other 20%. They had no police report - police refused to come out. Neither vehicle had a dash cam, and witnesses weren't available. Since we couldn't provide either, they decided to go the cheap route. The repairs were $6,000, and they begrudged 20% because they could.
There's not enough policing of insurance company practices. However, after only one year, I watched my rate rise from $550 per 6 months to $650 per 6 months. The next year, it rose to $733 per 6 months. I contacted them and asked why my rate was so high. I’ve never been in an accident and my driving record is clean. The agent told me that all market rates were rising with inflation, and that if I wanted to sign up for Drivewise (from what my friends/family told me, they install a monitor in your car to watch your speed/driving habits), this could decrease my rate by 10% or so. I declined, seemed a little invasive.
The next year, my rate spiked to $962 per 6 months! That’s almost double what I had signed up for just 3 years earlier!! I contacted Allstate again and they gave me the same explanation and told me I could sign up for Drivewise to save 10%. I did a little research and easily found other companies (Progressive and Geico) who could put me back in the $500 - $600 range per 6 months. Again am not blaming the reps. But these "departments" have no contact information (sneaky).
At least the manager of the rep from April 3rd gave some response, but as they continue to "review" I am still stuck paying for a higher premium for an accident I was not ever present at not was anyone that is covered by my insurance. Victoria had absolutely no customer service skills, was not competent in her job duties, and refuse to escalate the call to her supervisor. I can imagine how much money All State lose out on due to a worker that’s only at work for a check.

Allstate - you are not in good hands. I was not at fault for my accident - they would not pay my medical bills - they would not pay for $2K of my car to be fixed and I had to pay that out of pocket. Luckily the collision center had a heart and gave me back that $2K. Allstate is cold and will not have your back. My father has been a member since 1991 and I got him to leave this awful insurance company that does nothing to help when they are at fault.

Avoid Allstate. So bad company. They are so expensive and they do not support your claims at all. One of the claim was not at fault. They said it is at fault. Avoid them please. Also they take money for nothing.

The customer service deserves 0 stars. My auto insurance rate with my current company kept increasing so I called Allstate to see if I could get a better rate. Allstate was able to offer a much lower rate so I initiated a new policy. However once I compared the coverage side by side, my current company provided superior coverage. I called the same day (probably within an hour) the policy with Allstate was initiated to cancel the policy. A couple of days later I noticed a charge on my account from Allstate for $119.25. I must have called Allstate 7 or 8 times in a row regarding this charge and I either got disconnected or was told to call the roadside assistance number to get the refund. Apparently the roadside assistance is a separate policy from the auto policy.
When I called the roadside number they denied the charge was from them. This was by far the worst customer service experience. Finally after multiple calls I called as if I was going to get a new quote and the agent was kind enough to connect me with customer service and remained on the line to ensure that the issue was resolved. Miraculously during this phone call I was told that the amount would be refunded within 10 business days. For a number of reasons I would never use Allstate, nor would I recommend them to anyone.

Long story short they misrepresented themselves on their rental policies. I was told by the All State representative I'd only have to pay a 50 dollar reimbursable fee for a security deposit. Enterprise put me in a vehicle within my limit and is charging me over 100 a week claiming it's taxes and not covered by the insurance. This is all the way around fraud to charge outside of a pre-negotiated fee and hit the end user with this fee... with no form of notice that they are going to charge you. When my claim is over so is my use of this company as well as Enterprise. Poor customer service when you call to inquire on it as well.

If I could leave less than one star for this company, I would. Allstate is by far the worst company I've ever worked with. I was in an auto accident, which the other party was found to be 100% at fault for, so I had to work with his insurance--Allstate--to get my car fixed. Allstate was super cryptic throughout the whole process, leaving me to ask them lots of questions (via email) which the agent then replied snarkily that "it wasn't that confusing." Um, sorry, I don't get in a lot of traffic accidents. Also, the entire month it took of going back and forth to finally get my car fixed, the agent promised me many, many times that they would pay for all the repairs and not to worry and to just leave it between them and the shop. Well, I get the car fixed and am supposed to pick it up when the shop calls to tell me that Allstate won't pay.
Long story short, I ended up having to pay $680 out of pocket, for an accident that I was in no way responsible for, and Allstate's response was along the lines of "sucks to suck." I have filed a claim with my state's Department of Insurance because it is FRAUDULENT to say you will pay for someone's car, have them get the work done, and then renege on that promise.
