REDFIN has a horrible online presence. I have been looking for a house to rent and saw several I would have liked to see in person. I left several messages with contact agents and no one called me back. I don't know how REDFIN stays in business. I would not recommend them PERIOD.

Allow me to say Redfin is not a reliable company. Honestly they stink. Their agents seem incompetent. I had one that didn't know what a land lease was and how they work. Which if you are an agent you should be familiar with all the different options are for properties. Last thing is they said they would give us a portion of the sales prices after closing. We closed in September of 2024, and it now December and still have not gotten back the portion of the sales price at closing.

I was lured in by the low buyer’s agent fee. You get what you pay for. I'll explain; My agent didn't suggest one property to me even though I told her exactly what I was looking for. She only followed up after I requested a tour or had not heard from me in a while. I was new to the "used" home buying experience and that was well known. 1st home was known to be undervalue, and we sent a full offer proposal to the seller, and it was accepted. 1 week before closing it came back under appraised value (tidewater) and we couldn't strike a deal with the owner. I was not advised on what any of this meant before the offer was made on the house. 2nd house she was just as, unhelpful finding a property.
Once the property was found we walked it, found some issues and one of them was wood rot. I specifically pointed it out. We went ahead with an offer, and it was accepted on a VA loan! I was not advised at ALL and the seller’s agent didn't advise the seller that wood rot is a non-negotiable must fix for the home to sell/close. The rot was 100% obvious and needed no inspection to be sure. The jr. associate that was on the tour with me the 2nd time pointed this out to me right before the inspection started. He knew the deal was dead already unless the seller fixed the issue and couldn't believe they accepted a VA loan contract. I never made it to closing on the 2 houses and parted ways with Redfin because of the incompetence. My agent never took any responsibility for her actions.
I wasted so much time and money using them. I'm still not sure if it's laziness, incompetence, overworked, or something else about the two agents I worked with. Just go with a local smaller business realtor and pay them 1% more. It was so worth it! ...Oh and I had to do my own comps on the second house... I thought that was weird.
-Pros: Tours are super easy to request and on short notice as well. All of the jr. agents are super helpful. The buyer agent fee is low. The process is pretty smooth after you put the offer in.Redfin's website is the easiest to use in my opinion.
-I could have done more research and saved some heartache as well. I suppose I was just relying on the "experts" and assuming they had my best interest at hand. Screenshots and emails available upon request.

Redfin is listing homes that sold for over $300,000 as sold for 50-60k. I have the screenshot of the houses they have listed for extremely low prices at the correct price SOLD. Not to mention one of the house belonged to my uncle. He sold it for $319,000 they have it listed as sold for $56,000. Now the reason for this one might ask? They are also involved with BUYING HOMES. Therefore they make the price appear to have sold lower to bring down the value on home sales in order to buy at a lower price. My house is appraised at 270k and they have the estimate at 49k. You need to pay close attention at what they are doing and start talking about it EVERYWHERE. Otherwise when you go to sell your house that you know is worth 300k you will be getting 70k. Shine the light on these scam artist and do NOT STOP.

I have had no personal interaction with Redfin, but their website valuation seems inaccurate (at least in the case of my home). My four-bedroom, two bath home (with new bath, new roof and enclosed porch) is nearly twice the size of my neighbor's house. And in better condition! Yet Redfin's valuation has it priced $100,000 less! Curious about this huge discrepancy?

Review of Redfin Concierge Services: A Scandalously Poor Experience**. I recently had the misfortune of using Redfin's Concierge Services, and I can confidently say it was one of the most frustrating experiences I've ever encountered in real estate. If you're considering their services, I implore you to think twice. First and foremost, communication—or rather, the lack thereof—was a major issue. We were completely blindsided when they removed furniture from our home without any prior notification. This not only left us scrambling to adjust but also deprived us of the opportunity to photograph our home properly for the new listing. The absence of courtesy or professionalism in this situation was astounding; it felt as though our home was treated as just another property to be managed rather than a personal space with sentimental value.
To add insult to injury, we were charged an outrageous $11,721 for staging the house twice because of a cash offer that fell through after closing due to it not being a verification of funds at closing. One would assume that a service so expensive would come with some level of competence and respect. However, the staging process was not only poorly executed but also riddled with miscommunication. When we attempted to address our concerns, the concierge manager was short and rude, showing no willingness to remedy the situation.
As a pitiful attempt to placate us for their mishandling of furniture removal, we were offered a mere $250 credit. This token gesture did nothing to compensate for the headache and disruption caused by their negligence. Furthermore, we were promised access to the photographer's contact information to purchase the rights to use the photos taken of our home. When it came time to follow through on this promise, the manager backtracked, leaving us stuck with an additional $500 expense. It’s worth noting that we learned from a previous manager that she was being let go as Redfin was in the process of phasing out their concierge services due to a significant decline in quality. This was painfully evident in our experience, especially during the final stages of our transaction, where we encountered the rude and unsympathetic regional concierge manager.
In summary, Redfin's Concierge Services have proven to be a colossal failure. The lack of communication, exorbitant fees, and utterly unprofessional behavior from staff make it clear that they do not value their clients. If you cherish your time and money, steer clear of this service. A home is more than just a property; it deserves to be treated with respect, something Redfin has clearly forgotten.

I started using one 'old fashion' style realtor service (Keller/Williams) and several on line Realty companies. The Keller/Williams agent was nice, but didn't seem to have any houses we were interested in seeing. We started to use Redfin's website and found and bought a home in just a few weeks. The Redfin lead (in Tampa, Florida) and his team of realtors that show the houses were absolutely wonderful and very helpful. Scheduling a viewing was simple and you always got confirmation from the Redfin team that the request was received and they'd see you at the house at the time scheduled (and they were ALWAYS there). The Redfin website was by far the best site to search for houses (takes a while to figure out all the features and how they work, but you quickly get the hang of it).
I have nothing but positive things to say about the Redfin employees we dealt with to find our current new home. This new way of buying homes via Redfin is WAY better than the old way of relying on an agent to find homes for you to view. Redfin gives full descriptions of the property (pictures are filmed with what I guess is a wide-angle lens so the rooms all look bigger...) Once you know this fact you wait to see the house in person to see the actual size of the rooms and the property. I 'believe' they do this not as a deception, but as a way to give you the biggest view of a room or property on their website. We feel very lucky to have stumbled onto Redfin's website that made it extremely easy to find a new home.

Our experience with a Redfin agent was the worst ever! He was non-communicative and negligent. He gave his word “in writing” that the seller was accepting our offer, and after 3 missed acceptance deadlines we still didn’t get it. We just never heard back from the agent. I had to reach out to him every time. No apologies, no explanations. He let us know (after I called him) after the second failure to meet the acceptance deadline that the buyer needs to sign a disclosure and an addendum before they would accept the offer (information not provided in the listing or anywhere else), and after complying with their goofy rules and submitting yet a 3rd offer, they still didn’t meet the acceptance deadline. And, of course, no word or explanation from the agent. The listing is still active, so it’s not like they accepted another offer. I highly recommend running from Redfin!!

What we have found is numerous problems that the inspector should have caught. Don't buy from Redfin agents! They recommend people they are not knowledgeable and they don't look after the buyer's best interest.

As a listing agent, the service they provided was so problematic. There was always a different person trying to cover for somebody else when issues came up with a buyer's loan approval and they could not remove the appraisal contingency, it became quite stressful. Their piecemeal model is not as effective as working with an agent who is completely invested in the transaction.

I was connected with an agent who rescheduled and had very limited availability but that was not the worst part. The agent was not focused on my home. Instead he told me that there were two other towns that were more desirable. He then continued to say that he could not get $1M for my home which I didn't ask him to do. He was out in left field! I was later left a voice mail message by the consultant or coordinator that I should go find an agent with a different company on my own. It is to say the least terrible customer service and not very ethical!

My perception comes off that Redfin agents do not put out max efforts as much as the other brokers (ex: Remax, Long & foster) brokers have an issue with Redfin because they're taking a lot of business from them. It’s quite possible brokers may even deter their clients from a Redfin listing. In my experience, I met my assigned agent once. It's imperative that a showing agent take safety measures seriously. There are uncivilized buyers that will vandalize your home. Example, a group of family enters make it difficult for the agent to keep an eye on things. Intentional Scuffing of carpets / floors with their shoes. Attempting to turn on dual ovens.. Tampering with ac unit controls, etc. Redfin is a great marketing experience. Just needs more touch on safety protocols.

AWFUL.... Who allows agents to come into a seller's home and stay longer than what was allotted on schedule first. Second, turn our AC unit down far and super cold and left the house that way when finished hours later. We did not find this condition of our home on the following until 3rd day after house was seen from realtor and now have to deal with our energy bills. Fans running, lights inside and out were on. Appliances were run and left on cycles incomplete. Remote to fans moved all around home. Ac turned to 72 in a 2600 sq foot home and left on cold.
I confronted our realtor after this in frustration and dismay and was told that REDFIN allows realtors to come in and act as a inspector. I want to see the legal credentials for someone to come in and act as a inspector and then leave the home in that condition instead of leaving the home in condition they found it at entry. Redfin is not paying for my utilities and has NO RIGHT to do this on a showing. If you want a inspection then pay a legit legal person to come and inspect my home. I am appalled and will not stop at this review to receive a reason this was done to us. If this is the type of agents and business practices they approve of then it is about time they are called out and actions taken that this is NO LONGER being done to sellers. Wesley Chapel FL

Jenifer ** was not communicative. She didn’t know how to answer our questions. She did a video tour of the wrong house, she could be rude sometimes, she wasn’t prepared, she gave a listing agent for a house I wanted to buy the wrong approval notice after I sent her the correct one, she wasn’t responsible enough to remember the financial aspect that me and my lender had discussed with her. I had to continuously remind her of things. I don’t know if she was extremely forgetful or just didn’t care. She didn’t ask questions. She didn’t dot her i’s or cross her t’s. She didn’t double check anything when she knew she was forgetful. She’d rather try to pass blame.
I wouldn’t recommend her to anyone. She lacked experience. Maybe she just never dealt with buyers outside of her own kind before. She even threatened me with a lawsuit, falsely claiming I had signed an agent contract, and used fear tactics to pressure me into accepting a lower deal. Additionally, she collaborated with the selling agent on a house also listed by redfin, a coworker, to ensure I didn't get the house I wanted, undermining the offer I made through another agent. We did both purchase and sale with Redfin and our experience is the worst we have ever experienced. This was our fourth home purchase but this was the first time we were buying a used home. We decided to use Redfin only because on the commission rate but our purchase realtor was a crook who worked behind our back and beguiled us and worked against us which we realized later in the process but it was too late for us to back out. She even made us enter an amount way above asking and told us that the seller will not accept escalation clause and we later found out that no one had bid that high on that house. She was truly a cheat, fraud and an unforgiveable human. Also she promised to give us a credit for closing costs for about 5k but at the time of closing she said that since market was down she cannot give that to us.
Our sell realtor was rude, obnoxious and a bully. Initially we had NOT included our main refrigerator on our sale because we had plans to take it with us to our new home for the garage. However when the buyer was asking us to include it, she came to us saying that if we can spend so much money to buy a house, why can't we give away a $2700 refrigerator. She was so arrogant that we later learnt that because of her attitude a lot of buyers agent backed out. We got cheated from both ends because of our stupidity of using Redfin.

Not a lot of things got done, he didn’t even check the oven and said that it wasn’t work, but when we got there, it works perfectly. He said the dishwasher works, turned out it was molding really bad inside and not working. Kitchen sink was clogged but didn’t say in the report. Finally, we had a video call from Shari, a Redfin agent to show us around the house the day before closing, she stole a ladder at the house because she thought we are out of state and would never come to see the house. Used Redfin (3 times). Twice on the sell side. My experience was very poor. Agents claim that because they are paid a salary they are not biased. However the other aspect is they are not incentivized to really work to sell your home or maximized your potential proceeds. I've had it happen twice in two sales (hence the deduction of stars). Redfin outsources the work on the home seller and the buyer's agent or buyer through the use of their app. So you really only get a buyer through the efforts of others. In a traditional transaction your agent would work to bring you a buyer. They try and improve the odds by pricing your home lower, lower in the comps only looking at comps on their app.
If it were not for the stubbornness of my wife the buyer's agent we would have left 60K on the table listening to our Redfin agent. Do not get me started on their very pathetic efforts at open houses. Again you have to work much harder to bring a buyer because the Redfin team does near to zero. Used Redfin on the buy side too. We had to do all the work to find a home. The only also they promise refunding back a portion of the commission and that is just not true. Also my agent was not paying attention and attempts to negotiate did not go well, they push affiliates, but who doesn't right? Anyway, I got the house I wanted buy. I did all the searching and all the leg work. All Redfin did was have someone who you don't know show up to open the door. Very, very impersonal. My advice go the old fashion way.

After receiving a reply from the owner's attorney via the Attorney General's office, we now know definitively that Jenny ** and Redfin were responsible for us losing the house that we HAD A PURCHASE AGREEMENT ON. As per their attorney, we were to have signed paperwork on or prior to 1/4/2023. This paperwork was never presented to us, therefore, it was never signed. Since this paperwork was not signed, the owners cancelled our purchase agreement and moved forward with another buyer. After Jenny ** found out about the other offer, she asked us if we would amend the price of our house so our buyer could be non-contingent. This was on 1/10/2023. It was already too late, but we didn't know that.
We agreed to amend the price from $345,000 to $340,000 netting us a loss of $5,000 on the sale of our home that we ALREADY HAD A PURCHASE AGREEMENT ON. The inspection on the purchased property had already been done and paid for. Jenny assured us for over a week that we would not be losing the house, and that we did not need to sign the cancellation agreement. The stress during this time was incredible. We looked for our "perfect retirement home" for a year and a half and it looked like we could be losing it. We had ZERO intention of moving until we found the perfect home! After all was said and done, we had sold our home and had no home to move into. We were dividing our belongings into 3 parts.
One part that could go into a POD for storage (things that could freeze), one part that had to go into a heated storage unit, and things that we would have to bring with us into our temporary housing while we started a new home search. This was another highly stressful situation; looking for places to store all our things, pricing it, figuring out how to move it and not knowing how long we'd be without a home. We found a home, but it is NOT the home we would have chosen if we did not need a house immediately. Because we already had a deadline to be out of our home, we did not have time to get an inspection on the new home. Redfin reduced some closing fees by $2500. We are still out $3000 (house reduction price and inspection).
We asked Redfin to pay us the $3,000 that we lost due to their realtor's error. We also asked Redfin pay for an inspection on the home that we had to buy so we would have somewhere to live. We are particularly concerned about radon since this home has a well and a basement. We have gotten NO responses to our requests to get our lost money returned! This was a gross error on her part and we are still in shock that we are in a home that isn't the perfect home for us simply because we needed a place to live. It is unconscionable that we could lose a home and our hard-earned money through absolutely no fault of our own, but due to a professional's error. We are still heartbroken every time we look out a window and see a neighbor instead of the 4 acres of woods and the river that we had originally purchased. User's recommendation: Do NOT use Redfin, especially Jenny **

I have tried to post the review on Redfin's website since last fall but they won't let me because they know it is very negative. We realize that this review is long, but please take the time to read it all. It will be worth it. Last June, we decided to move from our condo in Pelham, NH. Due to the hot real estate market, we decided to buy first & then sell our condo. We hired Redfin, partly based on their low selling commission when you both buy & sell through them. Our assigned agent was primarily a Buyer Agent, but for efficiency, she would also act as our Seller Agent. This turned out to be a poor decision, as you will see below.
Our agent was very hard working. She put in a lot of hours & worked 7 days per week. But she worked under & strongly supported a system which is highly flawed, especially in a hot market. The system is meant to enable Redfin to reduce its commissions by reducing its expenses. This is done by having their agents handle many clients simultaneously. I never found out how many, but for our agent it seemed to be limitless. She was very rarely able to speak on the phone, since she was always busy with another client or property. I think she answered the phone once during the several months of me calling. I was expected to text or email her for everything and she would text or email back, generally avoiding a phone call. On occasion, she would schedule a phone call, but sometimes it didn't happen until the next day!
My wife was out of town for the summer, so I was left to look at the properties for sale. I looked at about 13 condos during June & July but our agent never came with me to see any of them & yet she was supposedly advising me what to do. (As a matter of fact, we never met our agent in person until we put our condo on the market to sell in August. I'm sure that if we didn't have something to sell, we would have never met her!) Other "agents" were sent to view the properties with me. That's all they were allowed to do. I found out later that they are contractors, not actual Redfin employees. They were generally different each time, so there was no continuity. After the showing, they would report to our agent & I was never allowed to speak with them again!
In July, I saw an older condo in Hudson which seemed to have many of the things we wanted. Redfin sent an agent to view it with me. The kitchen & master bath of the unit had been updated, but the rest of the place was in poor condition (mostly cosmetic, but probably about $10k to fix). We decided to make a "must take it now" offer to preempt any other buyers or an open house. Our agent advised us not to require a home inspection (a poor piece of advice for a 34 year old house), to put down a large, non-refundable deposit & to offer a huge amount of money above the listing price ("if the money doesn't make any difference to you, just offer it!", she said.)
The listing price was $385k. I told our agent that no unit had ever sold for even $400k in the community & that the high condo fee ($699) was a big problem for people looking for places under $400k. I was thinking about $405-$410k. She suggested we move it up to $425k. Unfortunately, we took her advice. The buyer accepted our offer. My wife came home & when we did our final walkthrough with our agent, my wife cried because of the condition it was in. Our agent said that the condition was exactly what she expected! We thought about backing out, but we had a big, non-refundable deposit. So we bought it. We estimate that we paid about $40k more than we should have.
When we put our house on the market in August, we finally met our agent. She came over with the photographer. She did a market analysis & came up with a value of $590k to $610k. We thought that was way too high, so we listed it for $559k. Her listing, to be blunt, was poor. We had to rewrite it to make it usable. We were not impressed with some of the photos that were taken, either. We got a low offer, which we were going to counter offer. But our agent said that it was a good offer & to take it. She said to wait for the house inspection & if anything comes up, to use the price reduction to refuse to do any repairs. But the inspection didn't show anything wrong, so we lost the opportunity to counter offer. That probably cost us $7500 & even with that, it was about $50k below the market analysis. Our agent didn't even attend the closing.
That's a summary of our experiences with Redfin. We are very dissatisfied with the way that they represented us, both for buying & selling. We feel that, at the very least they should refund all the commissions they received for both. Our advice to everyone who is thinking about using Redfin is to use someone else, unless you like:
1. Having an agent whom you may never meet.2. Having to text your agent to schedule an appointment to speak on the phone.
3. Having different agents whom you've never met (& will probably never see or speak to again) show you properties to buy.
4. Getting buying & price negotiating advice from your agent who has never seen the property you are considering.
5. Having to write your own listing to have a decent one when selling.
We experienced all of these when we bought & sold our houses with Redfin. Instead of saving money on the commissions, our agent's poor advice for both buying & selling cost us about $50k.

One year after the closing, my house was estimated at $741,000 on Redfin, while it was valued at $717,000 on Zillow at the time. I decided to add a deck for $16,500 and wanted to update the information on Redfin, so I created an account. When I created the account, Redfin collected some additional demographic information about me that could help them identify me. However, the same week, they reduced my valuation to $721,000. I believe that being ** cost me $20,000 less on the valuation of my house, even after I added a $16,500 deck to the property.
Furthermore, Redfin continued to downgrade my valuation, while Zillow continued to show the correct valuation trend. Today, twenty months after closing, my house is valued at $716,000 on Redfin, while it is valued at $777,000 on Zillow. I am dismayed by the blatant racist discrimination based on the color of my skin. I hope that one day someone will investigate this issue and hold them accountable.

But still, Redfin turns my account off due to something I am not part of. According to Mr. ** because we are under the same brokerage every Redfin Partner in that brokerage will have their account turned off, which means no more leads. From the emails Redfin keep sending me I do not think I could find a more unprofessional Realty firm than these people and cannot understand why anyone would take them seriously. Those emails show that they have absolutely no understanding of their market. They send out notifications in an attempt to have me give them a listing by stating that now my house is worth around $460,000 despite the fact that it was last appraised at $465000 when I refinanced in 2018 and that recent comparables show it's worth to be closer to $900,000.
In support of their lowball contention they showed a comp which had recently sold for $960,000. That comp happened to be the house next door which was smaller than mine and slightly older and which had previously shown on my appraisal in 2018 as worth $390,000. About a week later, they sent me another notice proclaiming that they would be able to sell for more than the house next door and that they might be able to get $457,000 for mine. What's more they would only charge me a 1% commission! Such a deal.

She had in contract 4% closing commission. 6 months later I am still assigned to this agent, I raised online request to change the agent, I called customer support - the agent is not changed. The result - all my online tour requests go to her and in less than 12 hours all my tour requests are cancelled. I didn't get one single tour confirmed out of 15+ properties requested. Generally speaking, I would not recommend Redfin (and specifically in my setting of searching for a home). Background, I started my home search in the greater Seattle/Puget Sound area with a pre-approval in hand from a reputable local lender. The app will "assign" you to an agent as soon as you create an account, this is fine, but does not allow for a real business relationship - specifically because the initial agent never reached out to me learn more about what I was looking for in a property, etc.
The first agent that was assigned to me was nice enough, but had <5 years in the local market - the last ~5-10 years in the Seattle/Puget Sound market have been intense, but there are pockets of the market (i.e. condos) that still behave in a somewhat more rational way - and long-time residents of the region (such as myself) have some intuitive understanding of reasonable property values (not just what the seller would HOPE to get from the property...). Long story short, I asked my Redfin agent what his advice for an offer would be that I thought was priced too high - his recommendation was to come in ~$3k under asking, I disagreed and wanted to think it over a bit longer. Within the week, the list price dropped ~$25K.
The advice of my agent potentially could have cost me >$20K - therefore, I could no longer trust this particular agent to have his "finger on the pulse" of the market. Additionally, he frequently had the automatic response of "I think the list price is fair" to every request for professional advice/input - without him doing any actual review or critical thinking about the property in question. I requested to switch agents with the Seattle Redfin Office/Lead Broker and was assigned to a new agent with ~20 years experience in the local market.
During our very first call, the very first thing she wants to talk about is that she thinks my lender (who already pre-approved my loan request) may "take too long to close" and put any offers in jeopardy - BUT most strikingly she "kindly" offered to provide her own recommendations of lenders... Although I cannot be sure, the whole conversation struck me as very suspicious - eroding my trust in her as well (from the very first conversation she had with me) - and leading me to believe she was acting in her own best interests, likely had some sort of referral bonus situation, and was neglecting her fiduciary duty to act in the buyer's best interest. To be quite honest, I have gotten more market information and helpful guidance from my loan officer than from ANY of the Redfin representatives.
Again, generally speaking, I am not able to recommend Redfin as a real estate brokerage. They have great, slick marketing that reels you in, and the iPhone app is genuinely easy to use... but once you get SERIOUS about purchasing homes - the real estate agent experience/helpfulness/kindness drops significantly and the brokerage DOES NOT live up to their fancy advertising/marketing schemes. Once you are working with them, it feels like you are working with bad car salesperson...

Redfin lists home earlier than Zillow which is a huge plus, and Redfin also has photos for older listings which gives great consumer insight into the market (this might be due to lack of user activity to remove photos). However, a MAJOR weakness for Redfin is within their mobile app, where Google Maps is not integrated well. Clicking on the map takes you out of the Redfin app which is not the case for Zillow. The selling agent's communication was less than desirable. He only communicated when it came to closing and for him to receive his commission. His failure to communicate with us and with the contractor his client hired continuously caused delays in our move. Redfin only cares about receiving their money and has no interest in helping people. It took numerous attempts to get any answers from him if he answered at all. Part of the purchase agreement required the seller to replace all the plumbing. After a contentious discussion about finding their own plumber, the seller decided to go with our choice of plumbers but refused to close until after the work was completed. The contract was between the seller and the plumber and therefore we were unable to effectuate any discussions regarding the work and timing. The agent was given all of the time frames, updates etc and failed to disclose any of the information to the plumber.
This caused us delays in being able to move and undue stress. Part of the contract also required the seller to pay for five days rent back, $300 for paint and to pay for the sheet rock repair. It took numerous attempts to finally get a response from the agent that the money was at the title company. We were told after business hours on a Friday before a long weekend.
One more issue. At the time we were supposed to receive keys to our home, he provided the wrong code to the lock box and then did not respond to my agent for several hours, again causing delay. The only time the agent was responsive was during the time to confirm closing which leads me to believe Redfin only cares about getting their money and they do as little work as possible to facilitate the transaction. I would highly recommend against buying or selling a home with Redfin. This process is stressful enough and with the COVID 19 additional stress, the entire process was difficult. It was made even more difficult because of the lack of professionalism of this selling agent at Redfin.

What she didn't know is we've had two actual foundation professionals look at the crack and say our house does not have foundation issues, one was during a foundation inspection just three weeks prior. I'm not sure what qualified her to make these false accusations about our house. She could have picked up the phone to ask our realtor if that had been looked at, but instead she decided to present her uneducated opinion as fact.
I did escalate this issue within Redfin and asked for an apology from Nora **. The “apology” I received from Nora ** was “forgive the conversation you heard between me and my customers”, not “I’m sorry for the bold faced lies that I spread about your house without thinking about the repercussions”- like she should have said. The site showed that there was available time at 3 that day to see the home. I got a message that I would be contacted to confirm the time was available for showing. This was around 9am when I did this. After setting up the appointment I called a lender to get a preapproval. After getting approved I called my fiance and my mom to let them know that I found the house. So 2 o'clock rolls around and I email customer support. I asked if I should assume that the 3 o'clock time slot was not available and should I let my family know not to come. I was then emailed back saying "Good morning! It looks like the tour coordinator texted you at 12:37 pm to reschedule for 5 pm today. Did you receive the text?".
To make sure I wasnt missing anything I checked my messages and there was nothing. I checked my phone number on my redfin account and it was correct. So I replied to the email saying no I didnt get a text but the 5 o'clock time was fine. I didnt hear anything back and 5 o'clock rolled around and my family and I met at the house. No agent there to show. I called customer support and was on hold for almost 30mins. Finally got an answer and they forwarded my call to the agent. No one picked up but I copied the number from the voicemail. I called back to leave a message and a text. A few minutes later I got a call back. The agent told me since I didnt answer the text earlier I wouldnt be able to see the house that day. Which tells me she lied about texting me or text the wrong number and the customer service agent that I was emailing ignored or did not relay the message that the 5oclock showing was a good.
Fed up with them I called the agent on the sign in front of the house. He notified me that it was too late to see the home that day so I got an appointment for late Sunday. The home was beautiful on the outside and from pictures looked like exactly what we wanted. Sunday comes and the agent from other company texts me and says the buyer accepted an offer from someone who saw the house Saturday. I am 1000% sure if I saw everything looked good in the home on Friday when I was supposed to see it. An open house was held, and a few showings. We had no communication from our agent on how things were going, however a week after listing we reached out and she said we should lower our home $5K. We were not happy but took her advice. We had agents wanting to show the house, but they had difficulty with the lockbox not opening. I asked our agent to fix that. She assured me it would be. We were out of town and received a call from a family member that the lockbox was left open with our key exposed. We called our agent (very difficult to reach) who assured us this wouldn't happen again.
Another few weeks went by and our agent listed our neighbor's house for 36K less than ours. I asked her why so low and she said they had another property they wanted and needed to sell quickly, she suggested we lower our price another 5K. We did, we had more traffic, and 1 offer. The person couldn't afford our house, however we did lower a little in the end. They wanted a lot of our person items thrown in plus closing cost and we said no. Our agent suggest we remove our furniture to show better, we have a spotless home that is in no way crowded. I told her no, that we were still living there.
In the end, we realized the only way Redfin was going to sell our house is if we kept lowering the price. They did not communicate well, they kept asking us to lower the price and the only showings we had were by other companies. We decided to part ways with our agent. The listing by our neighbor hurt our listing and our agent was just flat rude to us. It was a horrible experience.

Fortunately I did some research before signing with a Redfin Agent. Unless you're in dire need to sell your home as quickly as possible stay away from a Redfin Agent! They will give you a listing price that is WAY lower than what your home is worth. You see.... they don't make commission, merely a bonus off each house they sell. Therefore, it's more advantageous for them to sell your house quickly, hence a lower price, and they get their bonus. The agent we met wanted to list my townhouse at 269,900, when I said I wanted to list it at 274,900 she was rude. Saying we can try but I'd have to be ok dropping the price if it didn't sell quickly.
I was surprised knowing what other units went for. Well I called her on her ** and she tried saying because my unit didn't have vaulted ceilings (although it had a MUCH more desirable floor plan, totally updated and a half bath more than other recently sold units) it would be less desirable than other units in my complex and worth less. Well.... I went with another realtor, my place sold in 5 days at 285k... which was $3,800 less than asking. Bunch of con artists! Don't work with them!

Redfin agents don't work for you. Make sure you know that. They are the person that is going to relay information for you but not really fight for your demands. If you're okay with that then go for it. Also want to add, that the information on my listening as to what kind of countertops was wrong, the HOA fee was wrong and some other small items. Just be careful of that too.

I was attracted to the streamline process with good rates Redfin had to offer. 1% fee for most of what you would need to sell a property that is in good condition. Isabel ** was my agent. For the most part I like the idea of Redfin. I unfortunately was sent an agent who primarily worked in the San Fernando Valley and my home was in the South Bay. I was told she was an expert yet she messed up on so many levels. She did not know the house needed to have an inspection approval from the city to sell the property. We didn’t find out that until we were ready to close.
She thought it best to list my property right away in March and never disclosed that there may be an issue with selling the property shy of 2 years of ownership. I actually found that out from an agent that was doing an open house on another property. She became easily frazzled and stumbled over her words when situations became a little difficult or had some challenges. I felt like she represented the buyers and was trying to appease the buyers agent over me. She was incompetent and therefore would never ever use her. I would negotiate with an agent over services. You get what you pay for!

Dealing with Redfin mortgage was the most unprofessional experience in my history of working with mortgage companies. I know how this process works given my background in both retail and corporate banking with over 10 years of experience along with prior experience of purchasing property. I was assigned to Brian ** who at first seemed very pleasant. Shortly after meeting him, he went on vacation during the preapproval without giving me a heads up. He left a detailed out of office email with three of his partners' contact info. While he was out, I had a difficult time reaching his backups and when I did I denied a preapproval. I have excellent credit, great income, down payment in hand and had been approved by four other lenders. They gave me no reasons as to why but sent me an email saying "sorry we can't approve you". I politely responded that I didn’t agree but appreciate their time and that I will move on to another lender.
A few days later, I got an email saying "I agree with you, my manager, I don’t agree with". I was so confused. My realtor who works at Redfin followed up with Brian up his return to voice her concerns and he reached out. He reached out because she suggested it, not as a professional courtesy to say "hey, my apologies, I wanted to follow up….". Brian was able to preapprove me of which still interested me for their offer. Along the underwriting process, I was challenged at every turn. Bear in mind I was going through the same process with other lenders to keep my options opened so when something will come with Redfin and no other top lenders I would question it. Each time I questioned Brian, I would be reminded of "his years of experience" or "how much he knows" with as much bravado and a macho attitude as you could stand.
After a while, I grew tired of dealing with his ego to the point where our conversations became unprofessional. To top it off, he admitted his team is incompetent in which I agree, their process is slow and kept running into questionable "system issues". The cherry on top of the cake, I found a professional lender with raving reviews that offered a better deal. I have received my clear to close in under 3 weeks and will be moving soon. It would be best to move on from this option as they are just too new in the game. My realtor amazing, but their lending service is severely lacking.

The underwriter was very unprofessional and continued to ask for documentation that should not be part of this process.
For example, even asking why I received mail at my parents home 25 years ago! We would provide documentation that would then lead to more documentation needed. We began to fear for our financial security. They would also state all of these deadlines at the last minute. We were suppose to close on our house in 2 days and they stated that we no longer providing the loan. I have been to a dozen properties listed to put a home on that was advertised as cleared, utilities such as electric or plumbing/septic available, and NONE of them held true as to what is being advertised. While it's the seller themselves that's not properly listing the truth about the properties that is listed for sale, Redfin or Zillow or whomever should at least have these lands examined, or have at least documented proof that what is being sold is held true in the ad. I spent 6 hours today for example, looking to buy land in TN, and went through all of the proper channels only to find out the listing of plumbing and other items on the list that we're advertised as available, was not, and would cost over 15 grand to install.... I had also sent an email requesting a male realtor which the woman on the phone said I couldn't do, but that she would connect me to her supervisor. Then a woman with the voice of a little girl (seriously, I thought that a female child picked up the phone and was messing with me) came on line and asked why I wanted a male realtor to which I answered that I had worked with several female realtors in the past and had nothing but bad experiences and that I wanted to use a male realtor as I had much better experiences with male personnel.
She told me that was not a good enough reason, so I told her that I had allergies and that often times women realtors used way too much perfume which exacerbated my allergies and that I have olfactory sensitivities which are often times associated with allergies and some female realtors have offensive vaginal odors that make me feel ill. She flat out refused me a male realtor to which I stated that if I was a woman asking for a female realtor that I would have no problem getting a female realtor to which she replied: "that's different".
I then told her that I would use another realty company that is owned by a man and that I would insist on working with a male realtor and then I hung up my phone. I have since reviewed Redfin's reviews online and the reviews are horrendous with an average of appx. 1.5 stars, so evidently this company is even worse than what I thought it was. The experience listing our home with Mike at Redfin was very frustrating. Their professional home photography was horrible. When I complained about that, our agent Mike got very angry telling me to back off and allow them to tell a story about our home using the pictures they took. Well, they told a pretty horrible story. As a result, the home hardly got shown.
At our 3 hour public open house scheduled by Mike, he managed to only only show up for a half hour of it. I was on hand for the remainder of the time to help people look through the home. Because of the poor photography and lack of marketing Mike kept recommending lowering the price significantly. We agreed to a couple of price reductions, and then cancelled the listing. We felt anyone can sell a home lowering the price to get it to sell. We hired another agent a month later who quickly sold our home for $175,000 higher than the price Mike wanted us to drop to. Our new agent used excellent photography and good marketing skills.
I subsequently learned Redfin loses money. Millions of dollars per year. I have to wonder if there is a relationship between Redfin’s attractive 1% listing fee, their buyer rebates, and losing all that money. The millions of dollars they save consumers over the years seem to be perhaps the same millions of dollars they lose. How good can that be for their investors? I recommend buyers and sellers use a profitable real estate brokerage. We ended up doing that. There’s a better chance the company will still be around if you need them down the road.

I had to look on their website, pick a house and go through the automated process of scheduling a date to tour the home. Once the date was confirmed, there was another realtor that showed up at the house. In one instance, I was scheduled to tour the house.
When I got there, there were three other realtors there and NOT my realtor. When I proceeded to tour the house I got harassed and felt very uncomfortable as they were asking me a lot of questions in which I feel that my assigned agent and I should have discussed. I think that Redfin is great for Millenials and not too much for other generations. First of all, the Millenial generation (like me) use the internet heavily and like to do things by his/herself. Redfin has no hand-holding and mostly does all the paperwork for you. You can go on practically unlimited homes and tour them without feeling pressured. Why? Because they have separate Touring Agents that handle the touring for you. Then you have your assigned agent who does the negotiations and paperwork. Your assigned agent, however, does not do any hand-holding so be prepared to do a lot of research yourself on buying a home. Meaning, you should be hyper aware of what to look for when you purchase a home, because no one will tell you.
The role of a traditional real estate agent is someone that will talk to you, get to know you and your goals, almost like a financial advisor, and figure out your tastes. Then the agent usually takes you around in his or her car (may differ in some cities/states) and become almost like your friend or business partner. They will look at a home and immediately advise you whether this home is a "bad purchase" or a "good investment" because they can spot the problems right away that a non-professional cannot, like if there's a slight bulge in the ceiling they'll know there was a roof leak. That means you should discount the purchase price or avoid it altogether. A traditional agent will do a lot of hand-holding like this.
A Redfin agent is more like a secretary and you won't hear much from him or her, let alone the person advise you or even go see the home you are about to purchase (no kidding). So if you are good at doing your research and know what to look for before purchasing, know how to negotiate, then go with Redfin. Possible dangers are that, due to your lack of experience, you may buy a home that you don't really like. You could make an argument that the Inspection Report should tell you everything.
But sometimes, there are things like noise that you didn't anticipate (living next to a freeway), or perhaps the home was facing east-west and there's a lot of sunlight which raised your energy bill twofold than a north-south facing home. These are problems not listed in the Inspection Report but more of a Lifestyle Choice Problem that a Traditional Agent would've caught on early and advised you not to purchase such a home, that a Redfin agent would NOT tell you. If you're using Redfin because you want to save a $1-2k for that commission, which is <1% or 0.5% of the list price, it is NOT WORTH IT. If you are an experienced investor or have a family member that's a real estate agent in another state that can't help you in the paperwork because they're not licensed in that state but can help you with advice, then go with Redfin.
To put it simply, it's like you have to diagnose whether a patient as a cold, a flu, or something more serious like cancer by using the internet and no experience. Redfin is like the secretary working at the hospital that can help you order the lab tests and get the syringes and call the nurse, but cannot diagnose or help you diagnose the patient. A traditional agent is like a medical doctor. He will come look at the patient, and instantly know based on his years in medical school and as a doctor, what tests to order to figure out the patient's problem. So you are taking a gamble. If you misdiagnose, the patient may die. In terms of real estate, if you didn't do your research well or had any experience, you may have purchased a home you will end up not liking.
So go with Redfin if you have some real estate experience, trust in yourself to do the research, or have a friend/family member in real estate and save some $$... or go with a traditional agent that can handle everything for you. I went with Redfin and it was fantastic. Was able to get tours in all the time, even same day, or 3 hours from now. Had no pressure whatsoever because the Redfin agents DO NOT work for commission but work for GOOD REVIEWS. So you know they are representing you the most, not making you put in a higher offer so they can get a higher % of the commission.

The locations of their square foot comparison houses are known for violent crime rates, and our 7,000+ lot was also unimportant. Redfin has no plan of incorporating our current VA appraisal, home improvements and lot size into their comparative model. After spending a lot of times I found out Redfin does that with a lot of customers. I'm collecting emails so we can file an action lawsuit. If this happened to you please email me at **.

The Redfin realtors put a lock pad on your door with keys in it, then they give the access code to random "realtors" who just show up at your house with people and go through your home. First 3 appointments for showing we clean entire home, get the family out, wait 1-2 hours and then go home, the first 3 times turns out no one even showed up, but our Redfin realtor does not even tell us this because he is NOT EVEN AWARE IF THEY DID OR NOT? Then to really top this off, there was another "no show" and it's extremely frustrating.
We never were even made aware, but guess what, 2 hours later someones beating on the door??? Nicely tell them you had a scheduled time earlier today you did not show up, I'm sorry to turn you away but my family and I are home and we are doing dinner, shower, work tomorrow all that. I get met with extremely rude "OH SO YOU DONT WANNA SELL YOUR HOUSE THEN?" The people they must be letting in your homes, something is NOT RIGHT with this entire situation. Please God stay away or stay home when people show up.

I had a very terrible experience with Matt **, real estate agent with Redfin. There are several problems with him. First of all, he never picks up his phone and most of the time his voicemail is full and you cannot leave a message. Secondly he does not have your best interest in mind. Thirdly, you will never see him after the initial contact. Fourth, don’t count on him on any help or suggestions to sell your home faster or at best price.
I recently sold my home through Matt ** and had a terrible experience. It took 7 months to sell my house while neighborhood houses sold in less than a month’s time. To begin with he listed my house $10K above market. My neighbor’s house similar to mine was listed at 10K less expect that mine had a few upgrades but not worth more than 5K. I told him that I wanted to list my house at same price as my neighbor but he insisted that my house is worth more and listed it for 10K more. My neighbor’s house sold within 2 weeks after I listed and then too he did not let me drop the price. Finally, after a month dropped the price by 10K and then another 10K after 3 months when I had no offers. He wanted me to drop another 5 to 10K which I refused.
I asked him time and again what can I do for the house to get an offer and he just suggested dropping the price. I had a real estate agent friend visiting from California and he suggested if I have new appliances and make small changes to the house, it will sell like quickly. I heeded his advice and made small improvements and got the offer for the house within 2 weeks. I did not have to get new appliances. After the offer, we negotiated and Matt told me to accept a low offer and threatened me that if I did not accept the offer the buyer will walk off. I did not accept the price Matt wanted me to accept and finally got better price.
Week before the closing Matt sent me an escape clause document to DocuSign, I refused to sign an escape clause document a week before closing when all paperwork was already done and he yelled at me to sign the escape clause document. Very unprofessional. And during closing I gave him the power to represent me during closing and he gave $600 credit from my money to buyer without taking my permission. I would not recommend anybody to hire Matt **. My recommendation get an agent who would work for you and not against you. Matt does not care about you. During the entire 7 months listing I saw him only once and he was never ever available when I needed to discuss.
Redfin agents do not get commission so they do not care how much your house sells for and do not have your interest in mind. They just want to do more turnover than getting property sold for optimal price. My advice don’t go with Matt **. If I had the option I would give him 0 stars. I tried to put the review on Zillow and Zillow is not accepting review since I gave it 1 star.

Of course anyone can sell houses when you slap a giant take my house because it is so low sign on it! I had a superb experience with Redfin. I bought a townhome in Seattle's Central District with agent Grant **. Since I was still working in San Francisco before starting a new job in Seattle, the Redfin website allowed me to zoom into the exact location where I wanted to be. As soon as a property showed up, I was able to gauge its quality. Luckily, the photos on the property I was interested in were not very good (the sellers had not staged it). But Redfin had photos on other townhomes in the same development and I was able to see the high quality of the construction. Even without visiting the place, I made an offer, and flew a few days later for the inspection (as I had kept this contingency). The Redfin agent recommended an inspector who was very thorough and who commented on the good quality of the home and also stated that the two car garage on the property was unusual for the neighborhood.
I bought it, lived in it when I moved to Seattle weeks later, and have obtained a 30% asset appreciation in 3 years. Now, I am using their services again to buy a house a bit farther away from downtown with agent Kathleen **, and am in the closing stage. She has been superb so far. One thing to note is that Redfin is so popular here in Seattle that an agent might be representing more than one client for the same property. In this case, it is better to be clear as to which house you are really interested in, and how far you are prepared to go to win the ensuing multiple offer battle.

In late 2017, we explored having Redfin list our home. The Agent said, she could only sell our home for 699k - we thankfully passed and went with a traditional agent who has been marketing our home for 175k more. And it appraised for that value. We took our house off the market for several months and now it’s back on the market. Redfin will schedule a tour and do what they call an “insight review” - an insight that is not solicited and done in such a way that you would think they are a potential buyer. Sound tricky, yes, we think so.
We read their, mechanically illwritten “insight” and know that the agent was only at our property for less than 10 min! And we are flabbergasted with what it says. Redfin is intrusive and known price lowballers all in spirit to make a sale. No collaboration with the customer and quite honestly, that’s why they only charge 1% for their terrible service. If you want to fantastically waste your time, do contact them and find yourself in the end, switching to a traditional real estate agent.

There were many people on our "team" which made it feel very disjointed. I complained to the "manager" and he basically told me that my seller's agent (non-Redfin) probably only has 2-3 clients, while Redfin agents have 10-12 so they simply don't have as much time to devote to each customer. That was all I needed to hear. Will never be using them again or recommending them.

I started to look for home in New Jersey with Redfin when I came to know that they pay some of the commission back to buyer. But the home buying experience has been adequately unsatisfactory. Matt ** was my agent who was always willing to show the home, and also appeared sharp dude. But once I offered on the home, he did not put much effort in identifying the issues of home. As a novice home buyer, I relied on him too much. I went with the home inspector recommended by him (Redfin). Matt never told me that if home inspector does not go on roof is a BIG red flag. I came to know on the day of inspection that inspector does not go on roof. I asked Matt what to do… he said, “No worries, we will get a roofer.” Roofer came referred by Matt (Redfin)… found out couple of holes which are not big issue and roof has 5 year age left, which I said is acceptable to me.
There was garage issue which Matt said he will fix. On the final day of walkthrough, I found a crack in spindle of the staircase which was meticulously pasted together, not easy to figure the crack unless someone is specifically looking for it. After closing, lots of issues were uncovered with home starting with roof leak, windows crack, bathroom leak behind dry walls. If I fix all these items today will easily cost 20 grands. I am repenting why did I go with Redfin? A big rip off, and no way to recover the cost. Please think twice before going with Redfin. There seems to be a lack of communication between staff - they did not know their "marketing team" (a person who does the copy/edit and layout) has relocated to the east coast. I was told by 2 different people he was on the west coast. The language and photos used in the draft of the brochure were sub par. Redfin does support its sellers, however I'd say when my aunt recently purchases a house she did not use the sellers provided on the site. She had her own real estate agent help her in the buying process. We contacted a seller from the site but they did not help us right away therefore we stuck with her agent. The quality is good but there is something outdated about it. The website is boring in a way. Sometimes, I just go to Zillow's website because their search is more preferable to me and the way their website and app are organized and laid out feels so fresh and new.
The home that my aunt bought sold for 555,000 and the Redfin website says it sold for 575,000 which is a lie. That is extremely inaccurate and I don't know where they got those numbers from. Unless that number was the home's current estimate, which if it is was a very unclear way of putting it there on the page.
