We purchase a manufactured home last year in 2018 from Fleetwood Homes, and I wish I would have checked the reviews first. The model home we looked at had differences in what we received. Once the salesman got the sale he was done with us. He was rude, nasty and didn't want anything to do with us. When we had gotten our home the very first thing was the refrigerator started to leak. They never hooked it up. The fridge it just leaned against the wall. When we turned the power on water flooded all over the kitchen and poured out the wall outside. The ceiling connecting to the walls are not taped and muddied. They are caulked causing continual cracks throughout the home. Supposedly this is the new way that they do things.
The kitchen cabinets were cracked. White over spray from paint. Someone took no pride in their work. Everything is poorly put together and the materials used are cheap. It seems like every time we turn around there is something wrong with the home. We have had water leaks, air leaks! I could cry because we made such a poor decision and spent a lot of our hard earned money for this home. If we had known this before we purchased it we never would have bought from this company. We are out a lot of money and are very, very dissatisfied.

Bought a home in Feb 2019. Nothing but problems from the time I ordered it till now. The service people they send out to fix things are a waste of time. Told me my stuff was nickel and dime crap. Hello!!!! What gives them the right to say that crap. Received my home in March and now it needs a new roof. WTH? Fleetwood is refusing to pay for it. Their products are junk and I wish I had researched them before I bought one. I will never recommend Junkwood (Fleetwood) to anyone. Their service and everything else about them suck.

Wish I could give negative stars and seriously wish I would have seen these reviews before our purchase of a Junkwood (Fleetwood)!! It's been one huge let down for sure. Upgrades that we didn't get, so much stuff wrong!! Much of what others have already stated.. Such a cheap piece of junk and it's brand new. We've only lived here a month. We were told by Palm Harbor in Burleson that these were great homes and with the upgrades it would be even better. Such a joke. We haven't even had them out to repair all the things that didn't do plus all the repairs through the only walk through we were allowed to figure out and make note of everything broken or missing...
I'm sorry but there is no way possible to be able to find everything wrong in an hour walk through. Everything just turned into such bs. It's ours though, nothing we can do now, except warn others. Buyer beware. Maybe once upon a time they were decent homes, idk, I just know that ours is not great or even good. It's just livable. Maybe after a few years of us doing repairs and adding the upgrades we've already been charged for but didn't receive, maybe then it will be "good". Again, buyer beware... Don't get scammed into thinking that these are great well built homes.

Cheaply built, falling apart before a year up. All trim isn't solid wood and not stain. It is contact paper. Doorknobs falling apart. Doors front and back needs insulation could feel wind around them. If you mop floors watch out because all the wood close to the floor will start swelling and the contact paper comes off. Would not recommend Fleetwood Homes to buy unless you are a contractor and plan to reduce the inside. Also the outside siding keeps coming down so we just keep the ladder nearby.

I purchased my Fleetwood home in January 2018. Things were falling apart and breaking from day one. 2 cracked ceilings, trim falling off everywhere, broken electrical outlets, creaky floors, and kitchen cabinets falling off. Now 6 months after the one year crappy warranty has ran out my roof is buckling in two places and today I found that water pipes have been leaking between the shower and bedroom wall which saturated the wall that is now sinking in. I’m absolutely livid that all of this has happened after only one year and 6 months. Do not buy a Fleetwood home!!!!

They didn't finish the cabinet under the kitchen sink so there is just subflooring there. Rodents and other animals can get in. Not structural so they don't care. I've taken pictures and sent the broker pictures and Fleetwood just says it isn't structural so they don't, won't cover it. This was something that was wrong coming out of the factory. Evidently they don't cover that. I wasn't aware of it. It looked weird but I've never bought a mobile home so I didn't know what it should look like under the sink. The kickboard is there but behind it is unfinished flooring and huge gaps around where pipes go out. I just want them to fix it. No extra stuff.

I've had several issues with my 1999 model Fleetwood home. Problems with subfloor, faucets, siding, windows, & recently my water heater. My water heater went out and I ended up with almost 40 gallons of water within my home. The reason why is because there was no shut off valve for the incoming water line going to the tank, so I had to shut my water main coming into my house off. Wish I would of known was I was getting myself into when I purchased this home.

Lived in an older Fleetwood mobile home for several years and loved it, with no issues. When looking at a newer model, the price and value seems to be there to go with Fleetwood again! Great value for the budget minded.

Water coming through my window, it’s raining in San Diego County, leaking down the window sill, water in wall, and floor. Company response time is so slow, I assume my broker had it resealed. 2/7/19. Caulking around the edge. The next rainstorm 2/14/19 there was more water leaking in the same window. Raining again in San Diego County, it was not fixed. My broker has repeatedly called for repairs, but received a response weeks after initial complaint. Also cracks need to be fixed, due to settling (normal after you place a new home). Order placed 2/11/19. The customer service is poor, no response for weeks, lies are numerous, and no communication with representative of Fleetwood.
According to research I did and the time it takes for MOLD to take hold behind a wet wall, is 24-48 hr, I now am worried about mold in my bedroom. My major complaints regarding Fleetwood is the lies. And taking advantage of people. Usually older ones (elder abuse). After my old mobile home burned down May 7, 2018, I shopped around for a new mobile home, most dealers told me delivery time would be 3-5 months. The Fleetwood representative promised me 6 weeks. Order June 1-2018. Will be delivered July 15-2018.
My home was delivered October 2018, 5 months later. Lied to me from the beginning of this transaction. While money was already paid, It’s Impossible to work with Fleetwood regarding customer service issues, now leaks in the bedroom, fixing cracks, someone called me today 2/21/19 that did not understand my problem of leaks by the window. Or did he talk about the settling cracks? He did not understand what he needed to do, he had no knowledge of the damage or how to go about finding the leak. Where is the water coming from. I ordered a thermal scan and will pay for this out of my own pocket, to find out where the leak originates. Will pass that onto the real estate broker and hope I will be reimbursed (not counting on it).
My cracks in ceiling and walls are not fixed as of this date. 2/21/19. The quality of the Fleetwood manufactured home is sub-par, pretty cheap, no detail to finishing, some crooked, not level walls, doors not level, to fix the crooked doors was a 4 week dilemma. To get if fixed. I could not close the doors, could not move in. If you read this complaint you are warned about working with a Fleetwood representative. The home is a 24X56 double wide. New cost $81k for the home. Plus side work etc total $119K. Be aware.

The water heater hose was not crimped @ the factory. When the water was turned on 3 rooms were flooded. The pipes under the kitchen sink were not attached to the drain. The cracked ceilings looked worse after being repaired twice. Three corners of the tile shower cracked and had to be grouted. It’s hard to understand how some of the issues we have encountered were not addressed during the inspection process at the factory. Very frustrating when you spend so much money on a new home and constantly finding poor craftsmanship. The above mentioned are only a few of the issues we have been and still are dealing with. Please beware of Fleetwood Homes and be sure to do your homework before you make a costly mistake.

I quit this job after 2+ weeks after finding out that a good number of the employees were illegal immigrants and instead of a paycheck or direct deposit they were given the option of receiving a prepaid Visa card. This company is the root of the problem in America. I won't even mention the horrible quality control and pushing manufactured homes out for delivery that were some of the poorest constructed manufactured homes I have ever seen in decades as a carpenter. Thank God I found a new job with a fantastic company that values quality and honest hard work from legitimate employees. I have no personal or business relationship with this company so, my review is well within the guidelines of Consumer Affairs.

Paid for R-30 insulation upgrade. Parts of our home are hotter in the summer and colder in the winter. We thought there was a crimp in the duct run. After over a year and 1/2 of complaining, Fleetwood finally sent someone to check it out. He removed a section of our roof and to our amazement in some places there was NO insulation, in some places 1 to 2 inches MAX. If there had of been no insulation anywhere, we would conclude that it just got missed on the production line, but the fact that there was SOME tells us that they just didn't care. Which makes us question whether we got the other "upgrades" we paid for that are not in view. Also makes us wonder how many other folks are devoid of insulation, thinking they received what they paid for. Could it be class-action suit time?
There are other issues too numerous to name in this review, but we felt it was important to let folks know about the insulation issue. Even after we sent pictures of the missing insulation, it took a week to get a response. Not an apology. In fact, we haven't received an apology for ANY of the things that have gone awry in our home. The response we got was they "are looking for a company to reinsulate and WHEN they locate one, they'll let us know." That's it. In other words, don't bother us. We'll let YOU know. A year and a half we've been paying for energy in a home devoid of ceiling insulation. How much, if any, insulation do we have in our walls? How would we even know?
So, long story short, if you are thinking of buying a mobile home, think long and hard before you buy a Fleetwood. We love the layout of our home. It's very pretty and gives us what we need. We loved our sales team. Some of the repair subcontractors were very professional and did a good job WHEN THEY WERE FINALLY SENT OUT. Fleetwood company customer service is completely lacking. It's because of the subcontractors that were sent out and the sales team that we gave ONE STAR. The floorplan would get 5 stars. Fleetwood corporation would get NO STARS.

Purchased it (mobile home) in 2017. Right at the start started having problems. Factory would come out fix at it, usually the people that came out were very unprofessional, If it wasn't in the list to fix you could forget it. They wouldn't even touch it, they acted like it killed them to have to work on it. My thoughts, "That is your job, I am expected where I work to do mine." Now they are saying it's been over a year. It's out of warranty.
True but had you fixed all the problems the first couple of times you came out instead of goofing off & half fixing it, I could send an email with a list it would take them months to respond & set up a day to come out. They wouldn't call a day ahead so someone could be there. Me & my husband work so we could not just sit at the house waiting on them just to show up. Sometimes it was 3 or 5 months before they came out, just very dissatisfied with them. Paid so much for a new home & you walk across my floors. They creak like it's a 50 year old house.

Just purchased this Fleetwood March 2018, we have nothing but problems with workmanship. Everything falling apart. Cannot get good people from Fleetwood to fix everything as it should be. Keep in mind this is just my husband & I & we take very good care of this home. They send people out with just a bandaid fix & that's it or they come to fix something & it looks worse. What is wrong with this company. We owned a Fleetwood back in 1995 & it was great. Still have this. They don't do white appliances anymore which I think should be the consumer's choice since you are paying for this.
Just sloppy workmanship, nails, strips falling off the walls. Bad floors & they are not standing by their warranty. We just want what we paid for, no bells or whistles. But not a quick fix, new is new not bandaid fixes. No return calls, nothing. This is factory expo in Lafayette, Tn as well. We do not enjoy this home. It is very depressing because we trusted this company. We either want this home fixed right or we have no choice but to involve an attorney, & that is a shame.

We purchased a new home in 2015. The home had workmanship problems from the start like exposed nails in all the window frames, cracks in the walls in all the rooms, cracks in the ceilings, paint on the floors and on the woodwork, cracked mirror frames in the master bathroom, cracked and pitted granite counters, the molding was not correctly mitered. The list is endless. I called the manufacture and had to threaten a lawsuit to get them to send someone out to fix these things. They never did a walk thru with us after we purchased which was the fault of the dealer. We purchased an on demand hot water that would not furnish hot water to the back of the house and had to fight with them to send a plumber out to fix that. We were told that they had never installed on in a large home like ours. I think that we should have been told that.
After one year and a half years, our roof started leaking. I called and they told me it was on us because our warranty had expired after one year. A roof should last for more than one year. We had a roofer come and re-roof a portion of the roof and they found nails in areas that they should not have been which is what caused the leaks. Most of the nails were put in at the factory.
We were not treated very nice and I would not recommend anyone buying from Fleetwood. We purchased our home with the installation for $195,000. We should have had a nice home for that price. They are disrespectful and do not stand by their product. It is a real shame. It will cost us thousands of dollars to repair everything that is wrong with our new home. The carpet is already in need of replacing as is the vinyl. We purchase this home for retirement. Now we have to work part-time jobs to fix things.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from Fleetwood homes. They just aren't on par with Palm Harbor style homes. When they installed the AC duct in this (2002) double wide it's touching the floor beams and it rotted out all the wood. Almost all the floors have to be redone. I even took pictures to show the laziness of the quality of work. They also use particle board. Useless cheap particle board just to save a couple of bucks. The house completely feels cheap compared to my parents Palm Harbor home. The reason I purchased this house is because I thought it was a Palm Harbor Home in the Google listing. Come to find out during closing time it was a Fleetwood. Seriously you've been warned!!! Even the new models are like this. They cut Corners to save money. Don't be a victim as well. The sunroof in the bathroom leaks water as well. During rain time the roof is caving in.

Purchased a new Double wide Fleetwood in 1998 and had many issues with bad construction, things omitted and lack of quality. Helped my Son purchase another new double wide home in Nov. 2010 and again having issues with bad quality and lack of any warranty backup. These homes are inferior from the plant. Screws under new vinyl, twisted board inside wall, told extra insulation and then no extra insulation or upgrading after delivery, really crappy setup also including skirting with very few screws that blew off the first time the wind blew. Very bad experience both times from the manufacture and from the sales people. Vents from the exhaust fan were not even vented thru the roof and thus ruined the whole ceiling in the laundry room (which they said they would not replace because it was not their fault!!). I will never buy another Fleetwood home and advise anyone considering one to run away and check reviews on another brand.

My name is Brian. We signed on with Lebanon Valley January 31st. Since then it has been a nightmare. Now we do live on the side of a mountain so it was never a perfect situation. Right away we explained that to them that it is not easy to deal with. They started off by saying it was not a problem and that they have many years of experience. We really liked a lot model and they agreed to sell it to us as it sat. It has all upgraded features and it was nice. We bought a plot of land at the base of the Tuscarora Mountain and it had a 20-year-old single-wide trailer. They agreed to pull it off and dispose of it. The purchase was to include all services, delivery set up, footer dug and poured, setting up all the utilities and plumbing etc... There was also a crane available if we needed it. (Their advertisement stated that) We gave them $5000.00.
I pushed on them to send someone up to do a site survey more than 3-4 times. Their response was we will be fine. We expressed that this was not a normal job. They Google Earthed it and we sent them pictures. That being done they still felt it would be no problem. The pictures show 3 trees that we felt were going to be in the way. They said we did not need to touch them. They finally agreed to send someone up. He came to the site did a few measurements walked around and he called back to Dale with an update. I asked the guy if we had to take the 34-foot deck down and he said as long as it wasn't attached to the trailer it would be ok. We had a power box very close to the front of the trailer. He said it was not a problem he has been doing this for 25 years.
So today they came to dig the footers and figured out the property isn't graded and that we need to have 4 tri-axle trucks of dry dirt brought in and graded before that will proceed. We need to pay for that. He never surveyed the land. It turned out to be 9 triaxles of dirt and shale costing us $2100. He called the bank for a draw of $10,000 dollars in order to continue with the transaction. He wanted $3500 for the footers, the rest to pay for the old trailer removal. He never told us we were paying for that. He sold the old trailer and is in a contract for it but the bank holds the title to it. He is a snake, he lacks every ounce of compassion and customer service there is. He doesn't want to do the right thing unless he is getting paid. He actually said everything he has been doing has been for our benefit. That is the short story. There is 2 months of crap I can’t even begin to go into.
It is now April 23rd. No house. They keep changing the delivery of the house due to weather. We had 3 perfect weather days last week, NO house. They said today, we contacted them yesterday and they said Tuesday now, weather permitting. There is a 50% chance of rain Tuesday, Wednesday, and maybe Thursday which would mean yet another week. We mentioned that and their person said "let's pray it doesn't rain". It is has been costing us $10.00 a day to keep our cat in a kennel, it going on a month or more now. Our other 2 pets are with family, costing them money to take care of. We have lived with my mother-in-law. At a hotel, and now with my son and his wife.
4/23/18 Pam called to let them know PennDOT will be blocking the road tomorrow possibly when they bring the house. She offered to meet them and bring them a new way. The driver said he JUST got the PennDOT permit yesterday. He bought and paid for hit. This explains why they kept postponing. They didn't have the permit. Liars. The said they will be here tomorrow. The first pc will be brought and the onsite guys will prep it. He will return for the second pc and it will be completed Thursday.
We received a call from LVMH asking that we sign the checks today Wednesday 4/25. They implied that they will not finish our home unless we sign the checks. We already have an appointment with them Thursday with the bank person. 4/25/18 They showed up on Thursday to work. We gave them a signed check for 90% of the remainder. 10% will be held until all work is done. They told us 2 days tops. Starting the 28th and finishing May 31. We notified them on the 31st that the refrigerator was scratched and dented badly. We sent them photos. We gave them a list of things that we found damaged.
5/2/18 It is Wednesday. 5/2 and the house is not done yet, the inside is a mess the property is all tore up and there is no new fridge, the property is still all torn up and the skirting isn’t on yet. We have waited for 4 months and we spent thousands of dollars in accommodations, storage, and kennel bills. We just want it done.
AGAIN this is the worst experience of our entire lives. Imagine you were homeless although we had living arrangements, we put a lot of people in discomfort. Please know that this has happened and maybe you can prevent it. Read the Negative Reviews on Lebanon Valley Homes Website and Facebook pages, there are many in similar situations. Why will nobody from your company hear this? I have complained several times online. We are stressed, exhausted and tired physically and mentally.

Bought a used Fleetwood home that was full of surprises! Wiring to outlets was 14g wire, not 12g which is code. Nothing in the home is square; interior walls are not perpendicular to the outside NOR the floor. Whoever installed the carpet placed staples at 1" intervals around the perimeter. Removing them took literally days. Flooring wasn't level at joints of the plywood sheets... some were 3/16 of an inch off.
All CPVC plumbing entering the home from beneath was installed haphazardly at angles. NONE of the runs were perpendicular to the floor. Under the vinyl flooring there were places where the adhesive was applied in gobs. Some of it was still not hardened after 15 years! ~20% of the staples holding the Sheetrock were not shot into studs. Studs were not 2x4 but 2x2.5 inches. Plumbing fixtures are of the cheapest plastic variety known to man. Paint on the exterior doors literally peeled off. Escutcheons were not securely affixed to surround walls creating interior wall leaks. Tubs and surrounds are made of extremely thin plastic. Easily punctured.

We purchased a new 2017 Eagle edition back in February of this year, paid cash for it and had it built to our specifications. The mobile home was delivered and set up in April and we were told that we have 45 days to make a repair list and send to Fleetwood and they would send a "crew" out to correct all the issues. So myself and my wife went over everything and came up with a full page list and emailed it to Fleetwood.
A few days later my wife received a call from a Beatriz Martinez out of the Waco, TX plant and was told that we needed to send them photographs of some of the items listed. One of the issues that they wanted proof of was that we had paid an extra $150 to have all the ceiling fixtures braced for ceiling fans because when I installed the first fan in the master bedroom it fell out of the ceiling so I checked all the other rooms and found out that none of the electrical boxes had been attached to the 2 x 4, their idea of bracing, that they had installed above each cut out for the ceiling fixtures.
Well I had already attached all of the boxes myself so I could install the fans that we had purchased, (we didn't want the cheap excuse for ceiling fans that they offer so we bought our own) because I wasn't going to wait to complete our list and go without the ceiling fans for a couple of months. Well since "I" fixed them myself they would not take my word that they were not braced and basically have refused to refund the $150 that we paid to have ceiling fan braces installed which I assumed when you pay $150 for braces you are going to get actual ceiling fan braces not a piece of scrap 2x4.
That's four rooms, approximately 8' of 2x4 for $150, man lumber has really gone up in Waco. The next issue was that the vent above the range had a flapper missing to the outside so you could look up under the range hood and see daylight coming in and on top of that any dust or any flying insect can come into our home, such as wasp and yellow jackets, which we have a lot of those in Oklahoma and of course they wanted photos of that.
The next issue among many others that there is not enough room in this review to list, was that we had vinyl windows installed and one of them in the dining area would not open and after I had examined it I found that the whole frame was cracked and therefore would not open. Oh yes photos was needed of that too. Just a few more items that I will list is that we had linoleum installed in all bathrooms, living room, dining room and kitchen that came with several dents and depressions in it that was obviously done when their awesome building crew was constructing our cracker box and yes photos were needed of that. Well with that all said after list and photos were sent in my wife received a call from some fella named Eric and he told her a date and time that his "crew" would be out to make all the repairs.
So when that date arrived two individuals who spoke very little English arrived with "THE LIST" which had about seven items to repair, nowhere near the forty some odd items we had on our list, in which they stated, "Oh we know nothing about all that. We are here to fix the caulking issues" and some of the cleaning issues that was on our list and that was all they were suppose to do.
So anyway to make a very long story short, this is now September. I still have not received an answer on my $150 I paid for the ceiling braces, the only way that they can fix the linoleum is to cut the sections out that are damaged and splice in pieces which we told them no way we paid for new linoleum not cobbed up linoleum, and my outside vent to the range hood is still missing which they have come out on four different occasions to replace but don't bring the part, can't figure out why this Eric fella would call and say he's sending a "crew", his two non English speaking individuals, to replace an item that they don't have. Oh yes they did replace the window but it took the "crew" two trips because the first trip they brought the wrong size window.
We have contacted the people at Fleetwood so many times that the Beatriz lady will no longer speak with my wife. She has turned us over to some so called manager that I can't recall his name or I would mention you sir and that last time my wife talked to Beatriz she told my wife, very rudely, that we were being too difficult so she could no longer work with us, that is why we contact this manager fella, man I wish I could remember his name so he could get some notoriety also.
Oh yes after we were turned over to Mr.? he wanted photos again. Go figure. Anyway if you are looking into purchasing a Fleetwood mobile home DON'T unless you really like frustration, sleepless nights, aggravation, etc. Customer service is non-existing, and quality well there is none. Appliances were nice, oh wait a minute we purchased those ourselves because we didn't like what was offered so forget I said that.
I hope someday that there will be a class action lawsuit filed against Fleetwood. I would definitely join in on it, don't really care if I got anything out of it but something needs to be done to a company that basically sells you an item and will not stand behind the item they sell. I would get an attorney myself but can't afford one since I have so many repairs to do on this so called home. Again if you are looking at a Fleetwood to purchase run away as fast as you can.

I didn't see any information online about them at the time saying it was a scam so, I did sign up.
It has now been 1 year, I never heard from the company again after signing up with them. I checked in with them in December (6 months), letting them know they were a "scam". I was told that they had a full year and it certainly was not a "scam". Now, no one will return my phone calls or emails. I actually called their "sales" department, if you press 1 for sales someone actually answers the phone. They said the department that issues the credits was "out to lunch". I asked to have them call me within the hour, no one has ever called me back!! And now that they have my phone number they won't answer my phone calls! DO NOT SIGN UP WITH FLEETWOOD... This is a scam!! They will take your $400 and not give you any listings and they will not give you your money back!!! 1-224-534-5010 is their current office number if they happen to call you from this number.

2015 We bought a new Fleetwood home and paid cash {that was a mistake on our part once you give them the money for their junk they don't care} and believe me it is up to HUD standards and if this is HUD standards there is a lot to be worried about. It was the worst thing we have ever done. It is a 2000 sq ft double wide and a piece of garbage, the windows whistle when the wind blows, most of the doors don't shut right, the chamber under the house is bent, the cabinets sag after they have dishes in them for 6 months, the dishwasher is the bottom of the line, the fronts are coming off the shelves in the kitchen cabinet in just 12 months, the A/C is just barely large enough for the size of it, the kitchen counters is buckling and this is all in the first 16 months.
The guys that came to level it were great and they came back and tried again. The house is just plain crooked and there is nothing they can do about it and they showed us what was wrong. We called the Texas housing commission. They sent a guy out. He was a joke either. He didn't know what he was doing or HUD houses are far worst than we got and that is a very sad thing. In closing do yourself a favor and stay away from Fleetwood and don't waste your time reporting bad workmanship. No one cares.

Crappy House. Bought our Fleetwood home in 1998. Their fix for the cracked sheetrock under the windows don't work. They refused to fix the large crack that was forming in the center of the home because they couldn't match the paint (it wasn't painted). They then refused to come out to fix stuff during the warranty period after they were out once. Now 9 yrs later, our roof failed, and we discovered they did not put stops in the eaves at the walls and there was blow in insulation clear out, filling the eaves. We got a lot of snow this year and when it melted it soaked the insulation that was in the eaves and caused water and mold damage on the exterior walls front and back.
We've now been in a hotel while the contractor has pretty much gutted the home. Here's what we found: no moisture barrier... anywhere, no house wrap... anywhere, the walls are not nailed and glued... it's all stapled and they didn't check the plumbing connections so when the tubs were torn out (outside walls) we discovered that one tub had been leaking so there was dry rot in the floor around the drain. We have been in a motel since early February because they put insulation in a place insulation should never go, and now we have to have new flooring, kitchen cabinets, a new roof, new sheetrock, insulation, moisture barrier, new tubs, new surrounds, new faucets.

The reason I want to send this is that we got us a Fleetwood May 2016 and we have had nothing but trouble with it and it take for every to get someone to come look at it and fix it. We first had problems with the front and rear door then the bedroom doors nothing would close. The little wood was coming off the wall. We ended up having to fix all this. The floor in the bathroom is coming up. The guy came out and told us to super glue it down. I mean really. Now the A/C unit that was with the Home keeps freezing up and can't get anyone to come check this out. The people they told us to call gave me 3 phone numbers. I called on who is Hooks A/C repair and they have not got back with me. This has been weeks. Called O'Quinn and said that they do not service units they did not put in the mobile home.
If anyone out there wants another home then do not go for a Fleetwood. They may stay nice in summer and winter but everything else is crap and you cannot get anyone to come out to fix it. Another is the outside roof should hang over 3 in and this is maybe 1 1/2 in. and we did have one guy tell us that he would send in a form telling them that needed to be fixed and that was back in November so it is not been fixed yet.

We have been in our 2013 for over 3 yrs now. I have good things to say and not so good and lots of suggestions to people looking to buy a home and the builders at Fleetwood. To start off on a positive comment, we are well pleased with the insulation. Our home heats and cools on less than $150 a month, sometimes as low as $90. The carpet is low grade, but cleans up nicely when shampooed. The home is very pretty, great color scheme.
From the beginning we are very disappointed in the seller, Discount Homes out of Enterprize, Al. Manufactured in Douglas, Ga. The crew who put the home together did a bad job. Took months to get them to come fix anything, our insurance canceled out on us because the underpinning was still not installed. There were lg. areas where they did not put on the siding. Took them over 3 months to come out and do these things.
This is to the builders in Ga. Why don't you put in better kitchen/bath faucets, all had to be replace, they just fell apart. The kitchen cabinets are horrible. Paint/finishing coming off. They are falling off the hinges. Put on better cabinets and faucets, charge an extra thousand, it would be worth it. Now to the people who are planning on buying a manufactured home. Interest rates are much higher on a manufactured home. As soon as it is set up it starts losing value. Site built homes start building equity. Almost impossible to resale the manufactured home, cause no one will finance a used M. home.

They gave 30 days to report anything wrong with it. Interesting since it started showing signs of problems after the 30 days. The windows and cabinets are trash, the floors were made of cheap pressed like sawdust. We had to rebuild the living room wall to hold anything.
The master bathroom walls are so cheap the toilet paper holder won't stay on the wall, our towel holder either. It has 12's in the dining room and living room we had to build new walls to put decent windows in them and the kitchen as well. This is the cheapest made home I've ever been in. I worked at Oakwood and my cousin also bought an Oakwood home same price. The cabinets and windows are so well made in an Oakwood. We bought a home from Fleetwood in 2015 and had LOTS of problems. Still our Heater/AC is a problem after going back and forth with Fleetwood for over a year. They sent two companies and an electrician, yet no one knows the problem. After the warranty ended the locks jammed and would not work on both entry doors, we had to pay for new locks and insulation. Just last week our second toilet flooded after 16 months! A plumber came out and put in a new toilet. I emailed Shiloh at Fleetwood in OR to complain. This stuff should last longer than 12-16 months and Fleetwood should pay, they won't.
When our home arrived the driver ran the forklift forks though the front of our home. The carpet had a hole, the living room window would not close (it was warped) another toilet had to be replaced as the water ran non-stop, the kitchen sink leaked, when the washer empties the hose to the output leaks, three interior doors would not close tight, both entry doors are off and the daylight comes in, Fleetwood sent a guy out here that made it worse, the bathrooms and kitchen sink had no sealant, the shower wall was coming off and nails should have been cut in the cabinets. I cut my hand on two nails. We were told a mini split would cool our whole home, it does not. We sweat in the Summer, the bedrooms are HOT. We are waiting for a repair company still, 17 months later. I would not recommend Fleetwood.

They offered to build me another home, put me up in a motel but no motels would allow my cat, for another two weeks. I was trying to get settled in a new job, new city, I had already arranged for moving helpers to move my stuff out of storage.
It was all very frustrating to say the least, so I settled for them ripping out carpet & laying matching vinyl, which got forgotten to send on next truck. Another few days, I was concerned that the seams would start coming up. The floor guy assured me, "Oh no, not with this new glue we use..." So after two years, I had to put down strips to cover the seams that started to come up. Now, it looks like crap!

They fixed that with new plywood on outside (great right) wrong I just had the insurance come out to see if my roof was leaking (no). It wasn't but the engineer they sent out found what the problem is my home did not get wrapped with anything that would protect the plywood and none of my windows got protection either so now I know the cause of my interior walls being (soft) and why when it rains water in my kitchen light switch sparks. I am waiting now for my pictures on the wall to fall. I contacted fleetwood and got oh sorry we can't help you. The dealership said they didn't know if the homes are wrapped or not they just sell them. I have had many manufactured homes. One of mine that is 22 years old and has not leaked yet.
I feel if you use the Fleetwood name you made a big mistake. I only spent $42 000 for my mistake. I was planning on trading it in on a $85000 manufacture home and that is not going to happen now. Nobody will want this home. So they lost a sale and I will (never) trust any manufactured home again unless you get it in writing that your home is wrap and window are too. But again think twice and ask questions just because I have all my paperwork that was signed off on saying everything was inspected (means nothing) I can't even look at another home. I purchased a Fleetwood home back in Nov 2015. It took almost 4 months to get it set up before I could start moving in. Part of the set up issue was the weather but 4 months is still too long. After finally being able to move in I sent email after email to the place I bought it from which then was forward to Fleetwood Warranty. It took another 2 months before anyone came out to start the repairs. I had a page of things that needed fixed but yet when the contractor came out the excuse was that it's not on his work order or he can't make the repairs that I had to do it. I kept emailing the place where I bought the home from and another 1-2 months went by before they sent the same person out to make repairs and some things he fixed and other we had to do.
My doors even started leaking really bad so I called them this time. They took 2 weeks to come out for those repairs after it rained for 5 days straight and I sent pics of the waterfalls and door frame damage. Doors got fixed but the water damage did not so I called them again. This time they tell me that they will not fix it because my husband signed off on the work order and he should have said something to the contract. How is a contractor going to fix something that he does not have material for on top of I'm the one sending the emails and talking to them? He was just here to let the contractor in to do the repairs.
The unhelpful Fleetwood service person I talked to said it was my husband's fault it was not fixed because he did not say something even after I tried to explain to her that I'm the one that deals with this since it's all in my name and he was just home to let the guy in. And that my warranty was up since I already had a contractor out for repairs once even though it was past their so-called 90 days and that they had came out for the goodness of their heart the second and third time. That's **. They would not have came out if it was not their issue. Now I still have things not fixed from the first contractor and damage due to a leaking door. I will never recommend this company. They are horrible to get to fix their issues.

We purchased a manufactured home, brand new and custom ordered from them on July 10, 2015. We have had nothing but issue after issue and they either refuse to fix them or they send someone out to fix them who does not fix them or does not fix them properly. They have also had someone forge my husband's name on a work order about work that was completed (which was not) and how many hours were spent in our house that also talked negatively about my family. We have hired Jason Marsh of Foundation Repairs of Western Colorado, Terry ** and Brad Buck A1 Home Inspectors, all independently, to come out and look at our home. Clayton Homes has also involved John Alexander, the State Inspector.
From day one we have had foundation issues. As a result this has lead to cracks and shifting walls, un-level floors and cupboards and counters, all the way to our roof coming apart and tweaking. Clayton Homes contacted John Alexander (State Inspector) to ask him his opinion. He has stated that the problem seems to be an improper foundation and his suggestion to fix it would be press pile piers. John Marsh said the improper foundation was due to the soil conditions (soil not being tamped down under foundation during construction) and that Clayton Homes solution of putting more piers under the house is not the solution (they added more pads and piers on 11 MAY 2016) and within 2 years we will be at the same situation of the piers will just sink again.
When they sink again, we will once again have a large crown in the middle of the living room floor and the sides of the house will be uneven (before they added more piers the east end of the house was severely not level to the west end nor were the exterior walls to the interior). A1 Inspection made a report that the foundation contained numerous loose, leaning, tilted or non touching piers and pads and that the stem wall was constructed from very poor craftsmanship and coming apart, allowing moisture to enter through or around the foundation. Both Clayton Homes and Fleetwood ignored all reports that were provided to them and simply just added a few more piers and tie downs and did nothing to stabilize the soil or fix the stem wall. The reports also stated that due to the foundation issues our kitchen cupboards, both lower and upper, are cracking and coming apart and un-level. The kitchen counters and bar are also not level.
We told them that our stove hood was un-level and also cracked. Fleetwood sent their worker, Trent ** and his son out to fix it. They took it apart and now it is still just as un-level, the wood is still cracked, and now there is also a 1" gap between it and the wall, which allows light from outdoors to show through and also bugs to come in. Not only that, they dropped the cover under the stove and did not tell us. It took us 2 days to find it and we had to pull the stove out ourselves to get it. Every wall in the house has cracks in it. Once again, Trent ** was sent to fix these. He started to tape and mud and my husband asked if he would like him to show him where all the cracks are, since a lot of them are fine hair line cracks. He told my husband no and said he would find them on his own.
He only fixed a couple that day and then got very angry when we pointed out that he had missed literally hundreds of cracks and needed to come back the next day and finish the work he had been sent to fix. When he came back the next day, instead of tape and mud he just slapped some caulking or paint over a few (not all of the cracks) and called it good. In the places he used paint he used brown paint Fleetwood sent with him instead of paint that would match the walls that I have already painted. He knew I had the matching paint. So now I have green walls with brown paint just smeared all over them and the cracks still show through them. In the master bathroom shower, you can tell they did not use green board during build. In the space between the shower head and the shower stall, the shower head dripped on the drywall. My husband used a towel to dry it off and not only did the paint come off but also so did the drywall.
In the second bathroom our children cannot take a shower because of lack of putty around the faucet in the bathtub. That was on the list of things that we had asked for Trent ** to fix but he was in such a hurry to leave it was one of the many things that didn't get done. Also due to the foundation moving, the exterior siding is coming loose and apart and in numerous areas the nails are falling out. Same thing with our metal roof. It has become severely bent from house movement as the building materials are pushing upwards. It is missing screws (which allows moisture) and many are loose. There are areas that retain water and in a couple places you can see the soffit and roof itself.
When we first moved in we also had electrical issues that caused numerous appliances to burn out and a light switch that would burn your hand to the touch. They sent out their electrician numerous times and we eventually insisted on using ours and those issues have since been solved. We did however pay extra to have plugs installed on every exterior corner and more often than not we cannot use them because they were not put on their own breaker. They are connected to the ones inside the house which also run multiple rooms so when you plug even a Christmas light in, you blow a breaker. When we first moved in the sink was not connected to the pipes, causing the kitchen to flood. They sent someone out to fix it who disconnected the dishwasher, who forgot to hook it back up, causing the kitchen to flood again. Then under the sink leaked again.
They were supposed to replace the bottom, sides and back boards of the cupboard. Trent Case replaced the bottom one and in the process cut the back one with his saw. Like I said above, we have had nothing but trouble with this house (this is only a couple out of A LOT of the problems we have had). And as you can see, we have had nothing but problems getting them to work with us. As they play games our house is just falling apart more, rain water is getting in through screw holes in the roof, bath water in the walls through faucets not puttied, windows that won't close all the way, etc.

I bought this pile of junk just 7 months ago and the problems have been nonstop. I started making a list of deficiencies BEFORE we moved in. It started at the delivery, windows where there shouldn't be windows, doors that would not close, ALL of the interior doors would not swing freely because the hinges were misaligned, windows that would not close unless you leaned hard on them. 3 water leaks under the kitchen sink that took 2 months to get repaired, garbage disposal had a screw dropped into it that punched a hole in the body of the disposal and that took 2+ months to get fixed. Uneven floors, squeaky floors, master shower handle that had to be turned with 2 hands because it was so tight (I ended up buying my own shower valve assembly after Fleetwood's contractor told me it would do no good to replace current valve with the same cheap parts).
The cold and hot water in the master bathroom were crossed when we moved in, hot was cold and cold was hot. The toilet flushed hot water. Most of the interior doors still bind at the hinges and do not swing freely. I have asked Fleetwood several times to fix this. The contractors they sent out all told me that in their opinion the door, jam and all should be replaced and installed correctly. All of the windows with the exception of the window above the kitchen sink are difficult to close. I have to "lean" into them to get them to close. I asked Fleetwood several times to do something to fix the windows and the best they can do is to spray a silicon lubricant to the inside of the window casing. Not only does this do nothing to fix the window but we get silicon over-spray on the glass and anything that is close to where the silicon is being sprayed.
Fleetwood's contractor also told me that I should expect more problems in the future because of the low-quality materials used throughout the house. He said he had seen this many times and had heard innumerable complaints from other customers. For the money my wife and I spent for this home I would have expected to be treated like a paying customer is ENTITLED to be treated, with dignity, respect and with maybe just a little bit of appreciation for giving my business to Fleetwood and that my requests for service would be met in a timely fashion. Fleetwood's customer service department from the manager on down is arrogant, rude and just plain condescending. I have been scolded, talked down to, had unreasonable demands placed on me and ignored. The attitude from customer service is offensive at best. Lorie ** and Ana ** in particular.
Bottom line is DO NOT BUY from FLEETWOOD Homes. The bottom line extends to JMS Sales, Inc as well. From the salesman Van ** to the sales manager Vern **, they were happy to take my money but have not supported me at all. They have been told of all the issues we have and they have not done anything to help in dealing with Fleetwood. Run from them as if your hair is on fire.

We purchased a 2014 model home from Fleetwood Homes of Nampa ID. It wasn't delivered until part way through 2015. It was damaged severely during setup. Shortly after moving in we began having electrical issues which injured our children and damaged/destroyed our personal electronics and appliances. We've had numerous plumbing leaks and issues with lots of water damage to the flooring and cabinets. Within 6 months of living in the home the metal roof has come loose, is severely bent up and distorted. It leaks and you can see light through it. There are thousands of cracks in the drywall that are constantly still occurring. All of the kitchen cupboards and cabinets are falling apart (cracked wood, peeling finishes, uneven surfaces) and are coming loose from the walls.
We have windows and doors that either will not shut or have to be pried or forced open. To the extent that during last winter it was snowing inside of our home through the gaps around the doors and windows. The different sides of the home are unlevel and the marriage line is uneven. Fleetwood Homes sent out a contractor Trent ** from ID to make repairs to the home. Trent ** the contractor was here three days with minimal work being done. He caused more damage to the home than he made repairs as well as damaging personal belongings.
A couple days after his departure Steve ** the general manager of Fleetwood Homes Nampa ID emailed me a "completed work order" with a signature that was supposed to be mine. I immediately notified Steve ** that I had never seen the documents that he had sent me and that my signature had been forged. He immediately dismissed that my name was forged and that the work on the work order was never completed. As of now we're stuck in a home that is less than a year old is almost uninhabitable with no hopes of being fixed. Fleetwood Homes of Nampa ID is now refusing to honor the remaining 4+ years of warranty that we purchased on the home. The dream home Shawn ** of Clayton Homes of Grand Junction sold us is nothing less than a nightmare. In which even the dealer is unwilling to help resolve any issues.

Bought a 2015 Fleetwood canyon lake in April of 2015. My home is now out of their crappy 1 year warranty. I immediately realized, after home was put together and trimmed out, that my marriage line was not flush. I was told that this problem could just absolutely not be fixed without busting home apart and jacking it up. Was told this would bust all my drywall. Lol. Even if that were 1000% true, where is that my problem? I have floor boards that are bucked, just wanted for them to try and pull some of the boards down or sand it down. I was told these floors are like that because of the marriage line and nothing could be done about it. How convenient. I was told by salesman that none of these ever go together flush. That's a lie!!! If it wasn't a lie you would think the engineers that spec these would fix that problem. Every time they were called out I got the same answer. Smh...
My floorboards in kitchen, bathroom, utility room, and master bedroom creak and pop and give. I called service tech out for this and told him to pull up carpet and vinyl to fix this. You have to fix this problem from above not below and all he did was put in a few toggle bolts under my house and called it a day. I proceeded in calling them back out to fix it again, same excuse same work was performed, all he was doing was trying to get out of work and wasting time because they were aware at the service office that my warranty would be out soon. I am very disappointed with their service techs. I am now stuck with a home that has an uneven marriage line in the middle of my living room. Don't even get me started on the sorry mess they left with the carpet around that marriage line and was told once again that Fleetwood couldn't fix that mess either.
Well, as far as I am concerned they find an excuse to get out of fixing the crap that they built and sold to me. There is nothing owed on my home, so they got their money and decided they were not going to fix these problems. I don't care how mad I got or how many times I called someone out they were still able to come up with excuse to not completely fix anything. My kitchen cabinets are built horribly, my 5 year old grandson could have done better. I helped my father build many things, houses, barns, additions to homes so I know good work when I see it. And believe me this is the shoddiest cabinetry and flooring job I have ever seen. They put this kind of work in their homes in hopes of running your warranty out and not fixing anything really, unless it is something simple like drywall or a plug.
I bought a single wide 1994 single wide Clayton and it was a better built home than this. I would not recommend Fleetwood homes or quality homes to set up or to even built or set up a dog house!!! I actually had to crawl up under my house recently to tighten a clean out they left loose. How did I find this out? Raw sewage leaking under your house is not a pleasant smell. I would say I wish I had bought from a different manufacturer, not because they are built better, but maybe they would have had a better service for fixing things that are poorly built. There is no telling what problems I will have in the future in my home. It is a good thing that my dad did teach me something and that's how to fix shoddy and poor work, but that's not the point, I wanted Fleetwood to fix these things not me. I am the one that laid down the money for the house. I shouldn't have to fix these things myself.
Formica in kitchen is already cracking and busting. The refrigerator they put in my home has a big indention in the door they would not bring another one said to call whirlpool, whirlpool will not cover because they said dent was put in fridge at Fleetwood, and Fleetwood argued that it didn't happen there. Back and forth, back and forth. Guess who is stuck with a dented fridge! I despise Fleetwood. If you are going to build a product, build it right. I purchased my "brand new 1995 Fleetwood" home in 05/1995 and had problems from the get go! They had a group of idiots deliver my home which they ran it through one side of the ditch of the property. This caused several problems from cracked seams to broken storm windows and somehow the vents were damaged as well. My furnace did not work and come to find out, the walls were so thin I could hear and feel the wind coming up the sides of the walls. After further inspection, these walls were covered by a thin sheet plastic behind a thin layer of insulation on cheap 2X4's.
I called Fleetwood several times to get them to fix the furnace, broken windows and cracked seams, etc. so they came out and did an inspection of all problems I had pointed out. The inspector had me sign an invoice which listed all the problems/damages. He stated that he had to order parts, etc for the repairs. They were suppose to return and fix all these problems. It turned out that they never returned and I was told that once I had signed that invoice, it meant that everything had been repaired! I couldn't afford to move out cause I put whatever monies I had into my down payment on the house and property.
To this day, I spent years trying to fix a lot of these problems. I have mold throughout the home, the vents are detached and have fallen from under the home. The ceilings still leak and now I have come to terms that I am stuck with this home until I get enough money to purchase a real home. I truly believe that the mold throughout this home is the reason for all the illnesses my family has endured. We have developed pneumonia, bronchitis, upper respiratory infections and the list goes on and on year after year. I hope and pray that no one has to ever suffer like several of us have in their own home. Where is the justice in all this? Some of us have no choice but to live this way. So sad.

Had to replace the dishwasher 10 yrs ago and was told the piping was under recall but could never get ahold of Fleetwood to confirm. Last yr decided to repaint and replace the trim and to my surprise there were many places around windows, doors and the main center seam with gaps over 3 inches and no insulation uneven cut siding boards. In 2006, I bought a brand new Fleetwood. Once I moved in, they had to replace two windows that wouldn't open or close due to them not being set properly, the front door frame was replaced twice because it wouldn't close all the way. I called Atlantis Homes (who I purchased it from) and told them there was discoloration above the window next to the shower in the master bathroom. The lady told me it was just from the condensation from the shower steam and cold from outside. They came and put kills on it and left. About 5 years down the road, I came home to find that same ceiling in a wet ball on the floor. Upon inspection, my entire roof had a slow leak in multiple areas.
My entire roof and ceiling would have to be replaced. I fought with everyone at Atlantis Homes, the guy Randy laughed at me and told me that he knew I couldn't afford a lawyer so he wasn't worried. I contacted Fleetwood who said they filed for bankruptcy and couldn't help. Now I have a 10 yr old trailer full of mold, my credit is going to be ruined when I walk away from it and I have a child who has spent 3 years on and off at Johns Hopkins Hospital with major medical issues that could be caused from the mold in my house. They wouldn't do anything so I split the carpet and found large screws that were left on the floor then the carpet rolled over it, 7 different places. I noted a total of 8 places where it said to vent dryer to the outside of home, guess where they vented it? Yep, to the inside underneath the home. The faucet in the kitchen had to be replaced. I purchased a Fleetwood doublewide back in 2000. Like many of the folks whose comments I have read here, I am experiencing a long-term nightmare. I won't go into details, as you folks have already spoken about many of the problems I have experienced and am still dealing with. What I would like to speak on is what I have learned from researching the mobile home industry. What should be a very simple and easy way to provide inexpensive housing for millions has been turned into a very profitable scam by people who have more money than scruples.
I'm not sure about others, but my "mortgage" is a ridiculous 9%. My home is not on property I own, but my house has just been assessed as being worth MORE than what it was originally. Mobile homes exist in a very grey area somewhere between real estate and automobiles. Questions to the tax assessor are answered with shrugs. Refinancing is impossible, selling is impossible, being just a few days late with a payment gets me harassed by 21st Mortgage company, the company that somehow just "acquired" my loan back in 2003 from Chase. This was done without my consent, and I have signed nothing with 21st Mortgage.
Fleetwood is bankrupt now, well good for them. But do a little research… Who owns Clayton Homes, as well as several of the mortgage companies that specialize in mobile homes, including 21st Mortgage? Warren Buffett. Here's what I'm thinking… When Warren Buffett pays the estimated BILLION dollars he owes the US Government in taxes, I'll make another payment on this overpriced "mortgage"! If 21st Mortgage doesn't like it, they can come drag this piece of crap away and use it for firewood!

The carpet started buckling (I guess it stretches when walked on!) and especially where the double wide is joined together. Furnace is meant for a home in FL and we live on eastern shore of MD. Very loud so you cannot use family room for TV, had to use living room, which is farther away. Windows all have moisture buildup between panes. The entire home is vinyl, even under the carpeting. Fireplaces cannot accommodate a pellet stove or wood insert, as they are not made for such. (We added a pellet stove, freestanding to help with heat costs). Minimal insulation in floor. Large bedroom and bath farthest from furnace very, very cold. Wall crack where home is joined. Ordered bay window but is trimmed out extremely poorly, has gaps. Overspray from ceiling, I guess, along baseboard trim, and on the carpet. Very small shower drain pipes.
We had BathFitters come in and enlarge showers and increase pipe widths. Some electrical outlets are loose and breakers trip when I wash clothes at one end of the house and dry my hair at the other. I bought my new Fleetwood home in August of 2014. The circuit breaker going to the hot water heater continuously trips closed. They put a 20 amp circuit in the breaker box for a hot water heater that says it requires 2500 watts. Obviously a 120-volt line, at 20 amps, will only deliver 2400 watts (Volt x Amp = Watts). But the label on the water heater says it uses 2500 watts. So it trips the circuit every time I wash clothes or take a shower lasting more than three minutes. The circuit breaker inside the panel feels hot to the touch because the circuit is overloaded. And the hot water runs out constantly. I cannot use the dishwasher or run a load of laundry without resetting the breaker.
The wiring to the hot water heater caught on fire a couple weeks after I moved in. I have pictures of the burnt mess. I called Fleetwood many times and they finally sent a "crew" (two semi-literate men from somewhere very very deep in the South) to fix my circuit. I showed them the pictures of my burnt wires and explained that this is a serious fire hazard. They tinkered with the circuit breaker box for about half an hour and said it was fixed. I thanked them and they left, never to return again.
The next day the breaker started tripping closed once again, and I called them a couple days later to complain that nothing had been fixed. This was almost a month ago and they have not returned. I have called Fleetwood a few times and they always say they will send a crew up next week, but they have not returned. I am extremely worried that the wiring will catch on fire again. I would strongly recommend that no one ever buy a Fleetwood home. I paid over $40,000 for a fire hazard and no one at Fleetwood cares. Thanks for reading.

After reading many of the comments listed about Fleetwood Homes I think this has changed our minds about purchasing a manufacture. I WOULD SUGGEST TO ANYONE WHO HAS HAD SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH THEIR HOME TO DOCUMENT IT WITH PICTURES AND PRICE ESTIMATES THAT IT WOULD COST TO TRY AND FIX IT AND TO CONTACT THE HUD OFFICE IN THEIR STATE. HUD IS SUPPOSED TO OVERSEEN THE QUALITY AND STANDARDS OF MANUFACTURED HOMES AND IT IS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY. It sounds like these companies are not being held accountable for their service or work quality.

I purchased a 1994 Sandalwood by Fleetwood Manufactured home and when I toured the home on the sales lot it was gorgeous. The sales staff showed me a interior wall where they had not placed the paneling on to show the 2 x 4 studs in the wall. I was convinced this was a well made home. The home also had beautiful cabinets in the kitchen, with butcher block tops. The problem began within a 2 weeks after I noticed a small bubble in the finish of one of my base kitchen cabinets. I thought this was just a mild defect. However, within 6 weeks another bubble in another cabinet. Then one led to another and then the finish on all the base cabinets started peeling off. I will say I was "took" from the start.
It took the dealer 2 months to deliver my home which, I couldn't understand this. Explanations all the time were weather, they were busy, short handed, you name it. When they did deliver the home, and I was able to go inside I found that my butcher block countertop was just cheap white countertop of some material. I had mix matched furniture. The back door had no deadbolt and it was not the door that was on the home I had viewed. The refrigerator I had seen in the home I looked at was a double and this home had a small refrigerator. The hot water line was run to the commode, the tub faucets cold and hot were switched.
Outlets didn't work and one shorted out causing a small fire. Then one day I heard a gushing from my master bathtub when I let the water out and when I investigated the drain leading into the septic line was on the ground. Come to find out when they set the home up, they used duct tape to tape the drain pipes up to the septic line under the home instead of installing it correctly. The tape let loose and down on the ground it came.
When I contacted the dealer about this, they explained to me that my warranty had run out. I had to fix it myself or hire a private contractor. To say the least this would be expensive. Anyone, who owns a mobile home or manufactured home will testify that it isn't that easy to get a contractor to come and work on one of these homes. They will quickly tell you they are cheap made and they wanted nothing to do with them. So I was left to try find a friend who would take a look and after hours searching for parts etc. finally was able to repair some of the problems but, after a lot had to be modified. Plus, those 2x4 studs in the walls they swear you have? LOL only a few around the door frames and windows you will find them. Then even those are cheap 2x4 studding. Cheap Cheap Cheap, but huge price charged to customer. I advise anyone buying one of these homes, do your homework.

In 1998, my wife and I bought a new 1997 Fleetwood Reflection, 3 BR, 2 baths. In less than 2 years there was a leak in the laundry room that was leaking under the floor, through the walls and into the kitchen. The subfloor became like sponge. I called Fleetwood to complain and see about it being fixed but was told that the warranty on this was over PLUS they said it was my fault for not recognizing it soon. I try not to make a habit of crawling about under my home, especially through the insulation under the sub floor, so no, I didn't find it right away. After replacing the floor and it being uneven because you cannot find the same size plywood or press board as they use, also having to replace the cheap linoleum used (there was nothing underneath it for a moisture barrier - just bare press board), the central air system went out.
Once again, I was told that the warranty went out on it (5 year warranty and it was 5 years and one month when it went out). I was able to repair it myself with a simple $30 part. I discovered that between the wall and master bath another leak came up that I didn't notice until I accused my dog of urinating on the floor and realized it wasn't him. I had to move everything out of the way to get to the water lines between the walls to discover there were no shut off valves (which is the same on all my other water lines to bathrooms, toilets, kitchen sinks, etc). I had to replace and entire 12" of water line that was leaking in order to get the bad part out and put in new shut off valves.
Over a short period of time, maybe the next 8-10 years, there has been mold issues, water leaks, furnace issues, window and door gaps that allowed water in as well as mold and mildew to grow, numerous electrical problems and the list goes on forever. I'm fortunate that I am able to do most all repairs but when someone pays $32K for something, you would expect it to last longer than 5 years before falling apart. Selling this would be a joke, even if I were to restore everything to new. I remember when Fleetwood meant quality. Now it ranks up there with the worst of the worst.

I could not stay in the house to sleep so moved to my porch.
After many health issues continued I stayed with friends & neighbors. I was fine as long as I was not in my house. I called insurance company, every agency I could, then had home inspector come out to check it. They all told me there was no mold. I continued to sleep out on my porch. Could chemicals still leach from my home after 30 yrs.? Is it possible that I am too sensitive for my own home? I have not brought in anything unusual or new. What can I do but sell it & leave. I went back to the doctor & was on steroids during the holidays & now every time I enter my home the symptoms are worse. This is a nightmare I cannot wake up from. Right now I cannot be in the house to get things done. Anyone else out there experienced these issues, let me know. Please help!

Repairs on 2012 Fleetwood Double Wide: Kitchen floors were falling apart and there were numerous weak spots and holes under the linoleum. Repairs were made but the floor now has high spots where the replacement flooring was thicker than the existing flooring. The repairman did not properly clean the decking before laying new linoleum and there is debris under it and is visible. Also no attempt was made at cleaning up the mess that was made while working on the home.

This house has been nothing but trouble. Purchased it in 2005 and really feel previous owners knew what they were selling. House is falling apart! Trimming around all the doors is popping off. Trimming around windows doing same and some of them won't open. Not a leveling issue. Roof is leaking and when we repaired it found a nice comment on one of the 2x4 under shingles. Can't repeat all but person building it wrote "this is a ** house." Outside siding is sunken in. Can't sell it. It isn't worth anything. What a bad investment!!!! Wished I would have had more info about this company. Use to be top of the line. I will be forced to give up my property cause can't fix it without just rebuilding it from the ground up. Shame on you Fleetwood! Oh did call them in 2005 and pretty much tough luck.

Is Fleetwood still in business? Saw some comment that said they might have declared bankruptcy... Other than the above problem, we have had no problem with our mobile home which is located on our farm in East Texas.

We had a contractor look at it and they said the windows were put in wrong. We turn it in on our insurance and they said it was a manufacturing problem, so they wouldn’t cover it. Fleetwood filed bankruptcy so we are very unsatisfied with not getting Fleetwood to fix their mess up...Now we are having to fix it ourselves and it’s very costly...

We bought a 2004 Fleetwood triple wide and had the kitchen skylight leak and the dormers over the living room leak. We finally removed the roof and found that they had used a single layer of kraft paper instead of black roofing paper and had not flashed the valleys at the dormers. Also it appeared that two or three crews installed the shingles as it was installed in different directions and did not match equally. We also found holes in the roof that had not been flashed over.

Cabinets throughout the home are falling apart. Trim is coming loose. Water fixtures leak and had to be replaced in both bathrooms and kitchen. I had to replace the cheap wainscot in the living room and found that they use their fist to knock holes in the sheetrock to install electrical outlets. You could see the knuckle prints. All the electrical fixtures are cheap and if I work on them, I have to replace them with new ones. The marriage line where the roof comes together (Double wide) was not well insulated and they were unable to correct the problem, so two of the bedrooms are like ovens during the summer months. The uninsulated air duct that runs from one side of the home does not cool anything. I replaced myself. The Formica in the kitchen would come loose and they re-glued it three times and still didn't work. Replaced it myself. All the wall studs have been ripped so they are not even 2 x 4's. They use some kind of fiber board on the exterior walls, so the whole house has absolutely no shear strength. I doubt very seriously if this home lasts long enough to pay it off! I would live in a cardboard box before I would buy another Fleetwood home!!!!

Purchased doublewide from Fleetwood in late 2012. It is now Aug of 2013 and three months ago I noticed the floor sagging in the kitchen. I placed a call to the Rocky Mount, VA plant and reported the issue and was told that their service men were back logged and it would take 3 weeks for them to look at it. It's been well over two months and all I have gotten is the runaround. The service man came and looked and wanted to do spot work, I didn't want it to be pieced together as I paid for a new house. I asked to have someone else to look at the issue. I had to call the home office in Riverside California to get someone else to come look at the floor and was told it was the fault of the set-up and that they would spot fix the floor. They cut the insulation and just left it hanging. So now I do have the possibility of condensation damage. All in all I am very unhappy with the quality of the home and the service provided by Fleetwood Homes. I will advise that anyone buying a home stay away from Fleetwood Homes. Home probably won't last ten years...

We bought our Fleetwood in 2004. In 2011, a spot in the kitchen floor warped overnight. Our insurance did pay to have it repaired as well as a small spot where the a/c pan had overflowed in the hallway. One year later, we woke up one morning to find humps all over throughout the entire home. We immediately contacted our insurance company, and by the time the agent got here, the humps were running throughout the home, with the exception of the bedrooms where carpeting was. They sent an engineer out to check it out. We were denied by our insurance company because the engineer said that the warping was caused from condensation beneath the mobile home, and the fact that we had vinyl floors, and he also said that the skirting that we had was not good quality skirting for allowing proper air flow.
I don't understand how you carry the proper insurance coverage which is required, but yet they refuse to cover anything. I am also confused how this has turned out to make us responsible for what happened when we had the skirting that was required to have also. As for having vinyl floors, we had vinyl in the home when we bought it. We replaced the carpet in the living room with vinyl when we had the section replaced by the a/c, but other than that there was vinyl originally in the home. We contacted the insurance commissioner after being denied, and the only response that we received from them was a copy of our policy, and a nice letter basically saying, "This is your policy, and this is what it covers. So sorry." The company where it is mortgaged doesn't care either. To think that we had a mobile home that was almost 28 years old, and we sold it before we had any problems with it, to buy something brand new, where we wouldn't have any problems with it for a very long time.
I also told the insurance agent that the other older mobile home was on this very same lot, for over ten years, and the floors never warped in it. We feel so lost, and don't even know where to turn from here. I am disgusted with Fleetwood, our insurance company, and the mortgage company. The sad part is that they are continuing to throw these homes together, and sell them for top dollar. It might be a mobile home, but it is our home, and I just don't know where we go from here.

I bought my Fleetwood home in 2004 and have had nothing but problems. Part of the ceiling was replaced in the kitchen shortly after I purchased it. I also had a tear in the ceiling in my living room that was not repaired properly. Someone came in and stapled it up and painted over the staples. Needless to say, a year later the ceiling started sagging again and now has a bigger tear in it. I also bought to the repairer's attention that I had a leak under my bathroom sink that was completely ignored. The latch on my storm door broke off and it wouldn't close properly. The wind caught the door and slammed it up against the house and busted the glass out.
I have mold growing in my bathroom window and on the wall under the window. The house is very poorly insulated and I'm constantly sick with sinus infections and frequent headaches. The ceiling lights don't work right. It takes 2 bulbs in the fixture, but only one side of the bulb works. These people at Fleetwood are nothing but crooks. Can't believe a country like America lets crap like this go on. Goes to show you that as long as you have enough money, you can treat people anyway you want and get away with it.

We purchased our home in 2000 and had it built the way we wanted; plywood floors should be a must for every mobile home, period. Then, 16" on center floors roof and exterior wall is the second must; and because I insisted on this, my problem took longer to manifest itself to me – mold and mildew around my entire window and door openings. Then, we discovered the problem upon tearing out a wall – poor quality roofing paper that was used down the seams of the windows. And the fact that the home was built without much overhang, provided water an easy travel right down the sides of the window channel behind the vinyl siding and down the paper.
Twelve years later, every stud has rotten out from the outside and could not be seen without tearing it out. Now, it will cost me half as much as the home originally cost to repair it. I believe that Fleetwood should have to warrant the mobile homes for the life of the note and especially the items that cannot be seen, at least materials that cannot be seen. In our state of SC, in order to get your home repaired and have a legal ground to pursue if not done right, it has to be done by a licensed mobile home contractor and that's expensive.

I purchased my Fleetwood double wide mobile home in 2006. I live alone so I love the space (approximately 1500 sq feet). Trouble started immediately. One side was about 2" longer than the other. Extra repairing had to be done to join the end of the double wide sides but the center seams will never join.
I have two major complaints. First, the dining room receptacles do not work. I have had three electricians over that simply want to check the outlets and put in another breaker and, of course, charge me. I finally got the third electrician to go under the trailer and check out the wiring. He said there was a kink in the wiring where the electric line plugs in and the receptacles still do not work. They always work temporarily, then stop working again. It is a real inconvenience at times. Plus, I worry about fire in the back of my mind if there is a short.
Next, I hate what they call crown molding. It is so cheap and is popping off all over the house. One day, I hope to have real crown molding put in. Also, all the cabinetry is very flimsy. I have done several repairs. The soya foam front door was kicked in by burglars so I had a special steel door made and installed. I am going to have to do the same for the other door when I can afford it. Of course, I had to have gutters added and the roof repaired. My dog got under the house and laid the ductwork on the ground so I had to have the section of the ductwork replaced. I also, as someone else had mentioned, had to have the air conditioning unit motor replaced with another part last summer.
Most things I consider normal upkeep. Although my mobile home dealer totally disregarded my wishes for my home, like a single sink in a dual cabin and linoleum instead of carpeting and other miscellaneous things, I did pay for extra installation and my home does seem to hold heat and air fairly well. I do also make sure the underneath part of my home stays as dry as possible to try to help keep the floors up. I know with a major plumbing problem that would be in vain. However, I did supposedly pay for better underneath flooring also. Did I get it? Who really knows? But I have known many mobile homes to need new flooring and that was my original concern. Oh yes, I also had to replace the faucets in the kitchen and laundry room because they kept popping off. I hope to get new flooring and carpeting soon. The vinyl is good but the carpet has always been a cheap grade.
I don't know from the flimsiness of it all, the wiring and the shoddy manufacturing if I would recommend Fleetwood. However, if the place doesn't burn down from the wiring and I can do repairs and upgrades, I do like my home and the layout. I am about 45 to 55 percent happy with my home. In the back of my mind, I always wonder if I could have done better going with a different dealer and manufacturer.

My husband and I purchased a brand new single wide from Fleetwood Homes in February 2011. We have had issues with the flooring since we moved in. One of their "contractors" has come down twice and "fixed" (he said) the problem with the flooring primarily in our kitchen where the actual boards under the kitchen flooring actually "give" and shift in front of our dishwasher. This stayed a little more stable before the glue came apart that he fixed it with and now it is worse. There is also a very large soft spot in our den under the carpet in front of the vent that we have to step around for fear we will further damage it. Of course, we were advised by the plant that they could not do anything about it because, they said, "It was so far out of warranty."
What a joke! It is only six months past warranty and a floor is not something that should even had to be covered by a warranty! It is because of poor construction and workmanship. And as others below have stated, the floor boarding is very cheap and runs length wise and not width wise. It is also not glued or nailed together in place. After raising enough fuss with the owner of Fleetwood Homes here in Elizabeth City, NC, he came out to inspect our flooring and was quite concerned. He went back and typed a letter to the plant manager and in it said that the damage of the floor was through no fault or negligence by us but because of poor construction. After 1 and 1/2 months of him coming out and inspecting our flooring, still nothing has been done and he seems to have dropped the ball on us too.
After I found this complaint site last night, my heart sunk as I read the many complaints especially about flooring and the other issues we have had such as the doors leaking during rain, the trailer "settling", the screws popping out, shingles, cheap dishwasher, etc. We were given inside information that if the manufacturer did not fix our floor, we could turn them in to North Carolina Department of Insurance. After playing this "card" with the manufacturer this morning, suddenly we received a call from a supervisor who said they would come down and fix it. Had they not, we would have contacted the NC Department of Insurance and possibly a lawyer too. For those of you with similar complaints, contact the NC Department of Insurance and see if they can possibly help you. Meanwhile, we will see if Fleetwood will come through this time if not, we will also be contacting them.

We have replaced the master shower and toilet, repaired the water heater, faucets, walls and doors. Currently, we need to replace the back door deadbolt and knob, one of the front windows, and the kitchen sink and cabinet. The moisture and mold are now becoming unbearable. Some of the sockets in the kitchen do not work and never have. For the last year or so I have had black mold on the ceilings and walls. I have cleaned with everything including bleach. The mold keeps coming back. I use a neutralizer now due to breathing problems.

It has been brought to our attention that the Fleetwood Home that we purchased brand new, and was deemed faulty manufactured, and full of black mold in only seven years, has caused our child and us all that within the home, even our dogs, severe health problems. Our daughter was just diagnosed with a mass in the back of her head, near her right optic nerve. We truly believe that the mold within our seven year old home caused this, as well as all of our other health problems.
Saydey will be getting the testing done to prove that her severities have in fact come from the mold, mold that was in our faulty manufacturing Fleetwood Home. Fleetwood files bankruptcy to remove themselves from the damages that their homes have caused, rest assured in knowing that I will not stop to prove our case against them. They are at fault. Their homes are poorly constructed, and not seemed together properly. A structural insurance came into our home and claimed faulty manufacturing. What more does it take? In 2006, I bought a brand new Fleetwood Home from Statewide Homes, in Grass Valley, CA. The house was delivered in October or November, and sat vacant through the first winter, while we finished the rest of the construction project. Both doors leaked, and warped the sub-floor, and the response I got from Fleetwood was, "it's economical housing, live with it". After the manufacturer's warranty ran out, the extended warranty company said they would come and seal the door, but refused to fix the rotten floor, floor molding, carpet, cracked tile floor, or do any thing about the mold growing behind the wall.
Now, after only 4 years of living in the house, I need to replace the improperly installed roof, reseal all the seams in the siding, fix many cracks in the drywall, replace cracked siding, and repaint the entire outside of the house, plus rip out both doors, replace the sub-floor, carpet, and tiles. It may have been economical then, but it sure is going to cost me a lot to fix it.
The other thing wrong with my house were the spa tube drain was broken. I bought a new one, but the handyman they sent to fix it made it worse, and then said it was to difficult to fix. I had holes in the ceiling were someone decided to throw a pen or pencil through it. I can still see where the paint doesn't match, and the dimple is still apparent. When the house was delivered, the two halves did not line up correctly, due to the layout on one unit. That took 9-10 months, before someone decided they could fur out the exterior wall, so the siding would line up. All the walls inside have a nice bend in them. Do yourself a favor, don't buy a Fleetwood home. I would have given them zero stars but Consumer Affairs would not let me.

As my first home, I purchased a 1978 triple wide Festival by Fleetwood Manufactured Homes in March 1979 from the park it was set up in. The house was manufactured and set up in the fall of 1978 and sold as new, as it never had been lived in. The saleswoman told me that the square foot cost of the home was middle-of-the-road for manufactured homes. I was told there was a one year warranty on the house and on the appliances, but I never received any paperwork regarding any warranty nor did I receive any registration cards for the appliances. I did receive instruction booklets on the dishwasher and on the furnace. The saleswoman told us to contact the park manager regarding repairs if there are any problems with the house during the warranty period and to contact a service technician if I had problems with any of the appliances.
Before I purchased the house, I noticed that the roof had leaked where sections B and C were joined on the south side of the house. When I inquired about the leak, the saleswoman told us the leak had been fixed. The saleswoman also told us that the section C of the house had been too large for the lot, so two-feet of section C had been removed on site with a chain saw. In 2010, I found out that the two-feet removed from the section C had not been cut straight across, resulting in one side being longer than the opposite side of that section. The first time it rained, I found out that the roof still leaked where the alleged repair had been made. The second time it rained, there was a stream of water running down the inside wall where sections B and C were joined on the north side of the house.
At that point, roofers working for Fleetwood came out and re-roofed the section of the roof where section B and section C were joined. One of the Fleetwood roofers told us that the people who had set up the house had roofed the connection incorrectly. The third time it rained, I found rainwater dripping between the exterior wall and the interior wall above the window in the master's bedroom. Within the following few years, I found out that rainwater had been leaking between the exterior and interior walls around most of the windows in the house. The roof in the living room continued leaking off and on for the next several years. Re-roofing where section B joined section C only slowed down the leaks. It didn't stop them.
After moving in, I noticed that the back door didn't close properly no matter how many adjustments were made to it or how many times the house was re-leveled. Also, the stall shower door in the master's bathroom did not fit properly, causing water to leak out when taking a shower. The first time I attempted to use the furnace, I found out it had a defective part that needed to be replaced before the furnace would work. The forced air furnace failed to heat the master's bathroom at the south end of the house and the two front bedrooms at the north end of the house. I purchased space heaters in 1986 in order to adequately heat the front bedrooms. The heating air duct tubing underneath the house began coming loose and falling off during the third year I lived there. Tired of repeatedly reattaching them, I finally had them replaced in 1990.
Also during the third year, I noticed that the toilet in the master's bathroom was leaning into the wall. Upon examination, I found that the sub-floor beneath the toilet had rotted out and needed to be replaced. I replaced both the sub-floor and the toilet. Additionally, all the bathroom faucets needed replacing after only three years of occupancy. The wrought iron railing on the back walkway loosened up the fourth year and in spite of numerous attempts to permanently remedy the problem, the railing began falling off during the sixth year. Within six months of moving in, the brand new GE refrigerator broke down twice. I ended up replacing it with a Whirlpool. I didn't have any warranty paperwork, so I bore the replacement cost. The exhaust fan in the guest's bathroom has never worked properly rendering it unusable. After the first year of occupancy, water began leaking off and on through the bathroom vents when it rained. Our attempts to permanently remedy the problem had mixed results.
In 1990, I found out that no moisture barrier had been installed between the bathroom tile and the wall before installing the ceramic tile enclosures. That same year, I found out that water had leaked between the ceramic tile and the wall in the stall shower and in the tub/shower combination bathrooms causing the tile to separate from the wall. The drapery rods in the front bedrooms came out of the wall or ceiling and fell down during the first few months of occupancy, and the wall molding in the front bedrooms, in the living room and in the dining room started coming off during the first year of occupancy. Ten months after moving in, the built-in drawers in the master's bathroom, the drawers in the built-in dining room hutch, the drawers in the built-in desk in the second bedroom and the built-in drawers in the kitchen began breaking apart. After the drawers broke, I found out that the bottom of the kitchen and bathroom drawers had been put in upside-down and attached together with lightweight staples.
The water pipes broke in four places within 15 minutes of each other during the fourth year. Also during the fourth year, the dishwasher and the guest bathroom toilet began leaking underneath the floor covering. I didn't find out about the leak until the black mold growing underneath the vinyl floor covering in the kitchen was noticeable on the kitchen floor vinyl. At that time, I found out that no moisture barrier was placed between the sub-floor and the floor covering in the guest bath or in the kitchen, and the kitchen sub-floor had rotted out from water damage and needed to be replaced. It was when the kitchen sub-floor was being replaced that I found out that the house floor joists run the length of the house, instead of running the width of the house and have no cross bracing, which has caused the particle board sub-floor to sag in certain areas.
The fifth year, half of the frame on the built-in wall oven door came off where it was crimped onto the oven door. I taped it together with a duct tape. The knobs on the cooktop fell apart during the fourth year. During the sixth year, I found out by accident that the cooktop had been recalled due to a fire hazard. I was never given notice by the manufacturer or by Fleetwood of the recall. When I looked into the recall, Fleetwood denied knowing anything about it. During the seventh year, the alleged thirty-year roof needed replacing. When I contacted Celotex, I was told the composition shingles on our roof were not manufactured by them. When I contacted Fleetwood, I was told that they weren't liable. I later found out that no roofing felt/moisture barrier was laid down between the roof sheathing and the roof shingles. About the same time, I noticed that the fiberboard siding was disintegrating and bowing out, leaving the insulation exposed to the elements.
Half of the electrical receptacles in the kitchen and all of the electrical receptacles in the dining room stopped working during the eighth year. The windows in the living room, the third bedroom and in the master's bedroom began literally falling apart sometime during the ninth year. In 1989, I found out that the electrical wiring in section C of the house didn't have its own breaker in the breaker box and as such, was overloading the electrical system. In 1990, I had an electrician install a breaker switch specifically for section C. The furnace also stopped working in 1989 and neither the manufacturer, Coleman, nor the two repair services that came out could figure out what the problem was. In 2006, I noticed a small water stain in the southwest corner of the family room ceiling. When I investigated it, I almost fell through the sub-floor. When I pulled back the carpet, I found a two-foot square area of moldy rotting sub-floor. Apparently, rain water had been leaking between the exterior and interior walls for sometime without our knowledge.
In 2009, I found out that the house was set up with a three-quarter to one inch wide gap extending for approximately 36-feet where sections B and C are joined. Once that section was exposed, it revealed extensive water damage in the ceiling and walls, black mold in the ceiling and walls, and rot in both the living room and in the master's bedroom ceilings, walls and sub-floors. The seller was the Mobile Home Park. The saleswoman was a licensed manufactured home sales agent, with an office inside the Park's clubhouse. She ordered the house from Statewide Homes and hired the setup company that set the home up once the home was delivered to the site. I believe that I was told by the seller that the Park owner had some type of interest in either Statewide Homes or in Fleetwood Enterprises or both.

Fleetwood Homes is the worst business I've ever seen! We ordered a $39,900 model home and we're charged $87,741.61 and got nothing but a model home! We were told we would have wood paneling and cabinets, Scotchgard carpeting and all ceramic amenities in the bathrooms --they're plastic! Everything is going on it and we had problems with the house on the first day we moved in. The electric is all over wired and now, one room is totally burned out. All the red lights are, on constantly, at their plug-ins and there are no window casings or door jambs --it's all filler in between! The mold and mildew comes in despite trying to winterize it myself for the winter months.
I also lost both of my parents due to breathing problems and I, myself, now have to use a nebulizer because of the horrid air I breathe inside of this home. I live in the New York state in the snow belt region and my roof load is only 30lbs sq. ft. I'm afraid the roof will collapse from the weight of the snow and there is a huge amount of other problems with this house. I'm afraid I'll come home one day and find it in ashes as the electric is so bad. Everything is wrong with this house. There is no wood to be found in this home, it's all clapboard and corrugated wood. There are hardly any studs in the walls and the clothes shelf in the master's bedroom ripped through the entire wall.
I had an attorney working on my case for over 3 years and accumulated a $50,000.00 bill from them. They pulled out because there are four other companies all involved in this, so they have been afforded protection. Now, I'm in so deep that I'll never get out of the financial disarray I'm in. What a mess. I only draw SSDI! The monthly mortgage payments were over $600.00 and I'll tell you one thing, they will never get that money from me for a piece of junk that I can't even sell for $20,000.00. Not only all of these, but can one imagine the irony for Fleetwood Homes of Pennsylvania trying to charge me for an electrician who came to fix their own problem? I have a claim against them over their bankruptcy, but I doubt I'll ever see what I've spent out for this piece of junk of a home! Thank God I have all of these on DVD!

First of all, we cannot track down our title showing we have paid the house off and the title was never sent to me. I purchased the house from American Homes that was located in Uniontown PA and now it's just shut down and gone. The salesman was big Jim and I purchased the upgrades that was not put in. Now with noticing shingle grit in my gutters, I noticed that the roof is all buckled only on the one side of the house. They are only 7 years old and the roof needs to be replaced. The cracks in the ceiling had been repaired and repaired but I can show you all the cracks and seams that were fixed are back and look terrible.
The fixtures on the tubes showers and sinks have all been replaced along with the toilets from leaks. Trim is coming off on all rooms on the inside. The electrical plugs in the kitchen stopped working and keep shooting fuses. Vinyl coming apart on the sides. Carpet has been getting spots on it all over and it must be from the light dye job. The upgrade of the carpet was not an upgrade. I am just very upset with the house with the amount of money that was spent on it. The floor joists squeak and from looking and reading what others have experienced, I am afraid to even look further. This is truly upsetting as well the company going out of business and just gone. I have nowhere to go and talk to anyone.

We bought our home in September 2010 and the warranty is going to expire in Sept. 2011.
I placed a service call with Debbie ** in Waco Texas for three areas where the boards in the flooring were making a noise when you step on them. Dale (a contractor) came out to fix them. Also, I told her that there were holes on the floor around the plumbing, we've killed four or five mice coming in those holes. Dale said that he was not supposed to fix those, that it would entail too much work.
Three days later, three more areas were making noise when stepped on--one that he initially, supposedly fixed, and two others. I placed another service call to Debbie because our warranty is running out and I wanted to be sure they were fixed before it does. About a week later, I get a reply back from her stating that after "careful review" of our file, that the boards on the flooring was not a "structural warranty" but cosmetic, which of course had already run out (90 days only. These boards were not making noise during that 90-day period). She said that it was normal for the boards to do this after settling.
That it's normal for the floor to make noise when you walk across it? Why did they agree to fix them the first time? So they are refusing to fix the loose boards on our floor. The flooring is "structural", it helps hold the house together. As for the holes around the plumbing, no buyer is able to look at all the underneath of the flooring to see if there are holes around the plumbing fixtures before they buy.
We had no idea the holes were too big for the plumbing pipes until mice started getting in. Fleetwood Homes are just thrown together with people that don't care and take pride in their work. Fleetwood does not stand behind their product. They are only interested in making the sale and afterwards, they will not help you. I do not recommend anyone buying a Fleetwood home. After you sign the papers, you have no one to help you. They don't care!

First of all, I would like to say that I am amazed with what I am seeing here. We purchased our 2004 Fleetwood Manufactured Home from Wells Manufacturing of Evansville Inc. in Feb of 2004. They delivered our home in June of 2004. And we moved in to what was thought to be our dream home on June 27th of 2004. We too have had nothing but issues with this home, since the day we were handed our keys.
Where to even begin… We have had door leaks, windows that don’t seal and leak etc. Within the first year of having our home, numerous contractors were sent in from Fleetwood. And usually, it was never the same contractor. So, the new contractor was simply trying to repair the last contractor's mess ups. Our leaks caused more severe problems. However, our youngest daughter Saydey became very ill. Rather than get into all of that, I will be posting the link to the campaign that we started this very day for her and others like her. As one voice we may be small, yet united. We can raise our voice and be heard!
We too purchased a 2/10 warranty. And might I just say that I truly feel that that warranty is but a way to get more funds from the purchaser. It covers nothing! We have had a recent storm that came through and caused over $80,000.00 damage to our home. Our shingles were stapled on, which clearly became illegal several years ago, because they were stapled. They ripped and tore off with the winds that we had with our storm, with the shingles gone when the rain entered the roof. Water causes mold. The layers of my roof, between my popcorn ceiling and shingles, are full of black mold. Water entered the home when the gutters were blown off. And every exterior wall of my home was flooded with rain water, causing the water to run down every exterior wall and even the interior walls. Sub floors and the interior walls have been damaged, none of which was covered by my insurance. It was because the engineer claimed faulty manufacturing of our home. Our home is only seven, I repeat seven years old.
I know I have a home that is not covered by the insurance, my Fleetwood warranty, 2/10 warranty, my seller (Wells Homes of Indiana), Congress, HUD ( I have a HUD approved home), the attorney general or the BBB. Now, my case continues and has become far worse. Our daughter was almost two years old when we moved in our home. She became ill. After doctor appointment, we were sent to a pulmonologist/allergist for pediatrics, where it was determined that our daughter was allergic to mold. Indianapolis is about 5 hours from our home. As the years gone by, Saydey’s condition got worse. The six, I repeat, six medications that she was placed on didn’t seem to be improving her condition. And after a severe attack and almost losing her, I decided it was time to find a doctor willing to take on her condition that was closer. There was no way that I could get her to Indiana quickly. Upon our first visit, it was apparent that she needed a blood test done immediately. Upon watching my daughter go through the pain of this test, we were scheduled for a follow up appointment. We got the news that she had high traces of mold in her blood. Not only is she allergic to the mold, but it was killing her, causing her very sickness. Our Fleetwood Entertainer series home has no vapor barrier or OSB on the exterior of our home! None! Literally inside our home, when you remove the drywall, you can see studs and roll insulation. When you remove the insulation, you can see a 3/8 piece of board insulation and then siding. That’s it. No membrane or wrap of any kind.
Now I have a personal injury case, a very sick child and a condemned home, with no one willing to accept our case. I just today started a campaign for Saydey. It’s called “Saving Saydey, Raise Your Voice & Make a Difference!” This campaign was started for Saydey and any other with her condition. It is apparent now that there are others in the same shape as we are. And I truly feel that as one voice, we may not be heard, yet with many, we will! Please feel free to add your stories there. And together let’s get this taken care of. Please be advised that our health is at stake here. I am not willing to sacrifice the life of my 8 year old daughter for any home, let alone a home that wasn’t built to code and was faulty manufactured.

In August 2002, I purchased my home from Fleetwood Homes in Elizabethton, TN (which is now gone and bankrupt!) I had nothing but troubles since then.
First, the wiring was all wrong for my dishwasher. My father, who is an electrician, had to come over and assist the Fleetwood homes electrician in solving the problem.
Next, a mysterious wet spot started to appear on my carpet in the middle of my living room near the area where my house was put together. This went on for months and Fleetwood would send someone out and blame it on the fish tank, me spilling something, the dog, kids, etc. By this time, the small water spot that started in November of 2002 has grown into a "river" of wet/damp carpet from the living room all the way into the back bedroom. Fleetwood finally sent out a carpet cleaning crew.
The company (I don't remember the name) came and thoroughly examined the carpet and confirmed that it was not fish tank water, pet accidents, or something spilled and I had a genuine leak somewhere. They also confirmed that my carpet and padding was ruined and needed to be replaced. Not long after, Fleetwood went bankrupt. Eight years later, I still have the leak, I have pulled up the carpet and padding and the sub-flooring which clearly shows the path of the water and it is much worse in the summer.
Also, my septic tank lines were not hooked up properly under my house so my father had to rerun the septic lines (this was after numerous calls to Fleetwood and nothing were done!). Now, the toilet in the master bathroom does not flush properly and is unusable at times.

We bought our home new in 2003. It is a 2002 Fleetwood Entertainer. Since we have purchased it, we have had multiple problems with it. I'll post all I can remember on this but so much has happened that it's hard to remember it all. Well, the front half of the roof blew off soon after we got it so we replaced that. Then the plastic roof vents they put on the rear part of the roof all cracked and leaked, so we had to replace them. The the fireplace leaked and caused major ceiling damage behind the built in TV so we had to repair that. All of the windows leak air around them where they are installed so poorly so every winter we have to put plastic over them so we can keep warm.
Now comes the good part (or bad). The dishwasher quit, so we called them and they came out and discovered they had driven a staple through the electric wire when they put the siding on. So they fixed that. Lucky we didn't have a fire. Then while I was trying to figure out why the blower in the fireplace wouldn't work, I discovered they had cut a hole in the outer wall as an access point for the fireplace but they cut it in the wrong place. Well, when they cut the hole they cut through the electric wire that feeds the plugins. So instead of fixing it where they cut it, they just crossed over the wires and hooked them to another plug that still worked. So I called them back for that and instead of just fixing the wire where, they cut it they just took that wire out and left it hooked the way it was which was wrong. Now I have 5 plugins in the kitchen that don't work and 2 bedroom lights that won't work and numerous plugins throughout the home that won't work.
I have had to replace 5 light switches. The fireplace is loose in the wall. All the flooring throughout the home pops and squeaks when you step on it. Most of the trim around the doors has fallen off. I'm sure there are things I am missing, but by now I'm sure you get the point that I am very disappointed with Fleetwood and will never buy another one. I emailed Fleetwood and complained but as you can guess I never received any response. The only thing that has continued to work in this home is the appliances and they have nothing to do with Fleetwood. If there is or will be a class action lawsuit against Fleetwood I will be the first one on the wagon.

I am writing in regards to the mistreatment of my grandparents by the Fleetwood Company. I was recently made aware of the problems that they had with this company. I feel that Fleetwood see them as elderly people living in the country, with nobody to fight for them. After needing a new home for 15 years, my 74-year old grandparents bought a Fleetwood home. It was delivered to their property in February 2010. It took four weeks for the company to finish the installation. This meant that my grandparents could not move in and yet they were making monthly payments.
They made calls to Debbie ** at Fleetwood several times a week, and they were ignored. Critical issues like leaking toilets and sinks were finally resolved, and they were able to move in after waiting for 28 days. With the help of my mother, a list of issues was sent to Debbie within the 90-day window, as specified by the warranty guarantee. On the top of the list was the carpet that was not installed properly; it had several rolls and humps in many of the rooms. The next item on the list was two of the three toilets were cracked around the rim.
Finally, after several more calls to Debbie, a man named Dale was sent to the home. He fixed a few other items that were on the list, leaving the carpet and the toilets because they were not on his repair list at the time. He was curious as to why they were not repaired, and he said he would ask Debbie. He came out a second time for more repairs, but again the carpet and toilets were not on his list. He informed my grandparents that he was going on vacation, but would again check with Debbie regarding the issues. He did not return to their house.
My grandparents continued to call Debbie. She told them that they were beyond their 90-day warranty period, and no repairs would be made. Since that time, the kitchen sink began to leak again. They had to repair it themselves. They continued to call, trying to get someone to fix the carpet because it was a safety issue. The humps in the carpet could cause a fall. Given the fact that my grandmother had four back surgeries and is awaiting a knee replacement, a fall would be very detrimental to her health.
I got involved after a recent visit. I asked them why no one fixed the carpet. They told me about the problems that they had with Fleetwood customer service. I became enraged when they told me about a hateful letter that they received in January from Debbie that told them not to call her anymore because she was not going to return their call. I called Fleetwood on March 25 and left a message for the service manager, Jim **. I received a return call from Jay **. He said that he pulled the file. The carpet was mentioned, but it was a retailer problem. My response to him was, "Are you not the retailer?" He again told me that nothing would be done because it was beyond the 90-day window. He stated that the toilets were not mentioned. I explained to him that I know for a fact that they were mentioned because my mother wrote it down and their associate, Dale, mentioned them during his repair visits. I again asked to speak with the manager.
I did receive a call from Jim **, the service manager. He stated that he reviewed the file and nothing would be done. I discussed with him that Dale, the repairman, was curious as to why he had not received an order to repair the carpet and toilets. He said that he was not aware of this person, even though Dale was sent by their company. I expressed my concerns regarding the mistreatment of my grandparents to Mr. **. He did not seem concerned until after I mentioned that I would be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). The customer service department of this company seemed to not care about the safety of their customers. Once they had their money, my grandparents were left to fix problems on their own. There is molding that is nailed back in place because it was pulling apart, sinks that they had to repair on their own and much heartache. These concerns were verbalized and ignored by the company during the warranty period. They have conveniently misplaced the handwritten list of issues that was presented to them during the warranty period.
Their associate, Dale, seemed to have a copy. However, now that their lack of customer service is being questioned, no one can seem to find the list. In regards to the document certifying “warranted repairs were satisfactorily completed and acknowledged via signature on applicable work order", the company did not give a copy of any signed warranty repair documents to the homeowner, as they were signed electronically. My grandparents stated that it was not explained to them what they were signing, and they were completely unaware that the repairs to the carpet and the toilets would not be completed. They assumed that the repairs would be done at the next visit, which never happened. They are very trusting people, and they did not think that the company would swindle them the way that Fleetwood did. My regret is that my grandparents did not involve “the homeowner's relative" in the initial decision to purchase a Fleetwood home. I would have researched the company before allowing them to spend their hard earned money on an inferior product like this company produces.
After reading all of the complaints about this company online, it seems that the only people still purchasing their product are elderly people who do not have a way to read all of the scathing reviews of the product and the customer service. It is truly a shame that they feel they can take advantage of trusting elderly people the way that they did. I hope that potential buyers of their homes read all of the reviews before purchasing. The company refused to repair the problems, even after a complaint was filed with BBB. I discovered they are not a member of the BBB-- big surprise. Their work it shotty style at best. They would not be ranked highly in the BBB due to all of the complaints.

All of our front windows are also covered in mildew from the trailer not being built correct. Our windows fill up with water. This is ridiculous. We do not have the money to repair this all ourselves. Our wall under our window is completely rotted out. Our wall paper is sucked in. There is black mold behind the wall paper. My son just had to undergo surgery for his tonsils, adenoids, and tubes in his ear from the chronic problems. which I feel is caused a lot by the mold. My daughter also has asthma and has to take inhalers and nebulizer treatments. My husband has chronic sinus infections and I too have bad asthma.
This I feel is mainly in part from all the mold/mildew in our home. We have tried and tried to talk to the place we got it from our house insurance and fleetwood but so far nothing is happening. We had a fire marshal come out and inspect it and they deemed it the manufacturer's fault but I have yet to hear anything. I am so distraught. We still have 11 years to pay on this and between doctor bills and medicine, we are drowning. I don't see how it's safe for us to live in this and no one fix it. I purchased my Fleetwood triple wide 2400-plus sq. ft. home in 2002. It was approximately 7 years old when I purchased it. I learned very soon that these types of homes are not built as well as a regular Stick Built homes. I bought this to retire in.
The former owner had sheet rock work done before I viewed it and fresh paint as well. Everything was carpeted even around the shower and toilet. I’ve been here 8 years now and the work hasn’t stopped. I have literally replaced every floor in the house from linoleum to laminates and tile and new carpet. Last summer, I replaced the entire roof! I’m a DIY guy and all material was purchased at Home Depot.
The nature of these structures is they don’t stay level, causing doors and windows to not close. I observed that the cabinets and hardware throughout the house are of inferior quality and do not hold up to any type of ware. I will be replacing the kitchen cabinets soon along with the counter tops. However, I feel that I am just throwing my money away with every project due to these structures are not sound. These are disposal homes, not meant to last the 30 years promised. To top it off, try doing a re-fi or home improvement loan. No mortgage company will touch you because these are classified as trailers!

I purchased a Fleetwood Manufactured Home in 2008. We moved in on December 24 2008. There also formed a huge crack down the center of the home. When we went to inspect the roof, there seems to be nothing noticeable to the eye as damage such as blown off shingles or cracks.
However, when my husband looked at the plans of how the shingle roof was to be constructed, it appears that the rood was not built to code specifications by Fleetwood Homes. We believe this home was not built as intended by the manufacturer and although the warranty for the home was for a year and has now expired, we believe that since they didn't build correct that FleetWood Homes should still fix this leaking ceiling. I purchased my Fleetwood home brand-new in 2008 and was given a 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty which only offers full coverage on the home for the first year. Sure enough, just after a year, my roof started leaking in the master bathroom. I'm not sure for how long, since I didn't know until I started seeing water damage on the ceiling.
I called 2-10, and they told me that since it had been over a year, they would not cover it since the roof is not considered a structure. Really? So, I called Fleetwood; they told me that I needed to seal my roof vents with tar every year. So I did. A few months later, I noticed the water spot getting worse. So, I called Fleetwood again, and they implied that I didn't know what I was doing when I sealed the roof vent and that I needed to have a professional roofer come and do it.
Fast forward to this past July, I came home from vacation, and it was storming horribly. I was not home 5 minutes when my smoke alarms started going off. I went to the one in the spare room first to turn it off (since there was obviously no fire). And water was pouring out of the hole in the ceiling where the smoke detector was in. Now, over the last several weeks, we've gotten a lot of rain. So now, I have 3 leaks--in the master bathroom, the spare room, and the master bedroom.
When I contacted Fleetwood, they gave me the runaround that they got bought out by a company in Arizona and that the plant that built my home was now closed down. The guy I talked to (can't remember his name) pretty much alluded that it wasn't their fault and there was nothing he was going to do and that it must have been the fault of the people who actually set up my home on my property.
He also refused to give the number of the corporate office of the company that supposedly bought them. So I called them, Florida Home Masters, and they came out and couldn't find anything wrong or where it could be leaking. So they threw some tar on the roof and said that if it started leaking again, I should call them. So it did again, and I called again. They said they would come out yesterday, but they never showed up and never called.
Now, I have water damage in 3 rooms and most likely, damage to the insulation which is probably causing mold to grow. And everyone I talked to blamed someone else. And no one offered a solution or even advice on what I can do. I refused to pay a $2500 insurance deductible to get my roof fixed when my house is not even 3 years old!
This is so obviously a manufacturing defect or lack of quality control when building these homes or they just don't care, so they cut corners wherever possible. The stress of this is literally causing my hair to fall out; I have bald patches, because I don't know what to do! I'm getting nowhere, and I cannot afford a $2500 deductible or $5000 for a new roof! I want the people at fault to take responsibility for this and make it right!

We have now noticed that the 3 windows in our kitchen, in the front of the house are leaking and not small --I mean pouring. The window in the front of the house in the hall way is also pouring. Our carpet is completely soaked and the wall under the window is worse. I just pushed my finger through, when all I was doing was seeing if it was wet. You can see the mold and mildew all in the windows. Every single one has condensation on them. This is awful. We bought this home to raise our kids in and this is what we got. My wife and I bought our Fleetwood in 2001 after a year of having work crews come back to our home to fix everything from kitchen cabinets hanging loosely from the wall, moving walls that were three inches out of square to bulging outside walls. That's when I watched the crew take the siding off, then the Celotex, where they quickly removed a green twisted stud. That's when I asked them why there was only three feet of insulation in that wall and their reply was that it was all we needed for this region of the country! What a load of **.
Fast forward a few months because I have a contractor building a dormer over my stone porch. He left a piece of Celotex and siding to show me how he tied the porch into the house and also to let me see I only had two inches of insulation in my attic! It was not even enough to cover the rafters. Now I see why Fleetwood won't let watch your home being built like they used to.

My wife and I bought a new Fleetwood double wide 32x80 straight from the manufacturer's yard. We picked the one we wanted and done some interior changes. We changed it from a 4-bedroom to a 7-bedroom. Come straight from the builder's lot up around Waco, Texas. We got our 1 year warranty and started right away finding things wrong with it. We started calling in the warranty items to be fixed. The first visit took them about 3 months to get someone out to do the work. They showed up around 10 or 11 o'clock and then left around 4 or 5 o'clock, not even making a full day. Not nowhere completing the list. We would call and have to reschedule them to come out and complete what they had left, plus more that we found. We had them out several times during the year, never completing their assigned tasks and never working more than 6 or 7 hours a day.
Some of the problems we were having was there was a water line under the house they didn't glue together, spraying water on the floor causing the particle board to get wet and warp. They fixed that but now, in the same exact spot, it is doing it again. After I spent an additional $1,200 putting down the laminated hardwood flooring in the kitchen, there is a spot in the master bath where the tub is that was replaced originally that I believe if it wasn't for the floor joist, the tub would probably go right through the floor. The whole bathroom floor is also like that.
There is a spot in the living room that they had to replace due to condensation from the air condition vent, so they say. That was done/gone through again. To do this repair, they had to pull the carpet up and then repair. When finished, they laid the carpet back down and stretched it back out. For some reason, it was too small then. They could not seam the carpet back together where they needed to re-seam, so now I have gaps in the carpet where it ties together with the hallway carpet and one of the bedrooms.
My fire alarms are always chirping, never stopping. I wish I could just yank them down (very irritating). Every 4 or 5 minutes (beep beep beep). Damn things. Sometimes they will just go off and not stop for minutes. This is one of the things on our list that was supposed to be fixed on the warranty. But it just so happens the warranty ran out before they get to this problem. So, I have to call and do some major complaining, telling how this was on the list and was never done. They said as a courtesy call, they would have someone come out and fix this. They sent someone out, they pulled some shingles off in about 5 or 6 spots on both sides of the house and supposed to have rewired these irritating things (beep beep beep), but this problem still remains the same today. Very irritating.
2 weeks ago, my 12-year old daughter's room had a radio plugged in to the wall socket and the socket caught on fire. It had flames coming from the socket. Yesterday (Sept. 2, 2009), my 13-year old son's room caught on fire from a wall socket causing a call to the fire department and tearing out sheet rock and insulation on the whole end wall. Not knowing whether or not the fire alarms are just giving us the irritating beeps or not or something is really wrong, or not? I have 3 bathrooms, 1 master bath (done about it), one in between 2 of my boys' rooms and one connected to my daughter's room, which is the guest bath. The one next to my daughter's room wall started getting mushy and finally fell apart. We found out that the water line from the spicket to the shower head had never been glued together. When I finished tearing it down, you would not believe the amount of black mold that I found back behind the sheet rock. Now the same thing is happening in my boy's bathroom.
I have mushy walls all through the house. No telling how much mold is behind the walls here. When they moved the house in, somehow or another they broke the top plate 2x4s over the studs at the doorway and was supposed to have fixed this. They did to a point, I guess. The door still does not sit square or level. The storm door will not close without banging the door jam. All kinds of trim has fallen and broken due to the nails they used. I have a second ceiling in the living room now because one of the first things I noticed when we walked in for the first time is that the ceiling tiles did not match up with the other side of the house. So they came in and fixed it by placing new ceiling tiles in the ceiling, but now they are falling.
I am as well just about ready to walk away from this whole deal and say to heck with the credit because I don't want to pay on a house for 30 years that I honestly don't think will last for a total of 5 years.

We purchased this Fleetwood home in 1996 and the siding on the house is rotting off. We have contacted Fleetwood about this with no response. We were told the siding had a guarantee of 20 years. We have owned the home for 13 years and this started about three years ago (we noticed it at that time) when we had the house painted. The front side of the house is mushy. The siding manufacturer Cladwood (not sure if that is correct spelling) had filed bankruptcy and is no longer in business. What can we do?

On March 4, 2008, our manufactured home was damaged by high winds and heavy rain which destroyed our roof and several rooms in the home. I filed a claim with the insurance company and was told that there was nothing they could do because it was normal wear and tear and it wasn't in the perils of the policy. The adjuster came out and stated that there were multiple staples and holes on the roof that allowed the rain to seep though. We have been in this home for 15 years and out of all the bad weather that we have endured, rain has never seeped through. There is supposed to be a twenty-year warranty on the roof. I contacted several people for this and have been given the runaround by all.
I have even written to the Insurance and Fire Safety Commissioner, who came out twice along with the dealer who we purchased the mobile home from, and a Fleetwood manufactured home representative from Auburndale, FL where the home was built. The representative from Fleetwood stated that the home was not put together properly and had several other problems as followed: the tie-downs were not in place, the air condition unit wasn't installed properly, he saw how the rain had destroyed the ceiling in two bedrooms and where the water had seeped through other parts of the home.
With all these problems that have been discovered, nothing has been done and I keep receiving letters from the Insurance Commissioner's office stating that the case is closed. They have seen these damages and have done nothing but give me the runaround for the entire issue. All I want is for my roof to be replaced and the other damages caused by water in other parts of the home. This has been an ongoing situation since March 2008 and I feel like something needs to be done. No one wants to take the blame and I'm just fed up with them not owning up to responsibility.

Back about 19 years ago, my wife and I bought a double wide Carriage Hill Home. The dealer specified that the roof would be 2x6 and the walls 2x4. The home he showed us was built great so we ordered the home. When it arrived, he said he was sorry, but there was some changes made like windows and rugs. Much to my surprise, I think the home that my wife and I bought was not new and it was a model on someone else's lot. When the plumber came to install the piping from Fleetwood, he said that it was unusual that the bathroom toilet would have water in it since the water was not even hooked up yet to it! I let that slip by. I am preparing to install a new roof on the home and found out that the roof is not even 2x4s and I went on a chart that Fleetwood put in the master bedroom closet to see about the pitch of the roof.
On the chart, it states that this home is made for southern states such as Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Georgia, etc. I live in the north and my wife then said no wonder this house is cold in the winter because it is not properly insulated enough. So, it was an important lesson to me not to trust anyone and buyer beware on what you pay for and what you actually get.

My husband and I bought our Fleetwood home (the entertainer) in December of 2007. We immediately found several cosmetic problems that were addressed multiple times. I also complained about the way our house was put together. You can see in the middle of the house that the two pieces are not connected correctly. It is very obvious and the carpet is very loose in that area. You could put your whole hand in an area between the wall and floor in the master bedroom. We also paid a lot of extra money to upgrade the wood so it would last, but I don't even think the stuff in our house is wood. It's more like cardboard. I am so dissatisfied with this home. I would never recommend Fleetwood to anyone! To put the icing on the cake, Fleetwood has gone bankrupt and there is no one to handle our problems anymore. Thanks, Fleetwood, for the wonderful home buying experience you have given my family! We are pretty much stuck because no one will even look at our house with the first thing being seen is the gap in the middle of the house.

Now, Fleetwood says the guarantee on the trailer was up in one year and Budget is out of business. Is there a minimum standard on mobile home floors? My floors are uneven, my marriage wall has a gap, my shingles keep coming off and there is a baseball-sized hole in the floor of my bedroom. A HUD inspector came out and said that my home was set up improperly and would not pass an FHA inspection (even it did somehow). I contacted Fleetwood and they sent someone out to repair the roof and the floors, but it still isn't right. I am very disappointed and I have 30 years to pay. If I tried to sell it, it will not qualify for an FHA loan.
When my home was first put here, we realized after 4 months, something was wrong with my roof. They left bare wood exposed and we had a very rainy winter. They came and fixed this twice and still when the winds blow as little as 5 mph, shingles come off. They say I have to go through my insurance company now. The shingles don't have a warranty? My floors are getting worse, not better and it's only been 14 months. How bad is it going to be in 5 years? DO NOT EVER PURCHASE A FLEETWOOD HOME. They lie, cheat and just plain suck!!!!!!

My husband and I bought a brand new manufactured Fleetwood homes in a town close to us in Fl. After it was setup we had people come out to fix some problems one of them being our floor in our kitchen was slanting they said oh it is just settling they then were supposed to fix the installation underneath the home. They duct taped it and went on their way!
One year after owning our home we called Fleetwood because our floors started to cave in, in the main bathroom, closet and laundry room they told us there was nothing they could do about it because our warranty was up. We told them that we had it inspected and found out that the shower faucets were not put on properly and the duct work was not fixed properly so the moisture from both areas and the leaking of the faucets from the inside panel took all this time to warp the floors. They did nothing for us.
Now my kitchen floors are caving in too. We spent alot of money to fix the bathroom, closet and laundry room out of pocket and now we have to fix the kitchen and we have no money left. We then found as we were fixing the bathroom that the studs in the walls were 1x3's instead of 2x4's that we were told it was made of so we had to drywall the walls. That costed even more money out of pocket!
The physical damage of all of this is all my floors are sinking in on a 2 1/2 year old home. There was mold in all the floors when they got ripped up so that had to be fixed also. Guaranteed there is mold under the kitchen floors. My floors in my kitchen are sinking in and working it's way into the livingroom and the side of the house that the children's bathroom and bedrooms are. All the insulation was put in wrong and that is why the condensation is running through the floors throughout the home. Please help us if possible with any information thank you.

We just bought a Fleetwood this year. We were told it would take 6-8 weeks. It actually took 3 months before they delivered it. Then they just sat it there for 2 weeks before the even pulled it onto the house pad. Some of the shingles had come off the roof. Instead of placing plastic over it, they left it with the wood part of the roof exposed. It rained on it twice. You could see where it was swelling up already. They don't want to fix it. When we looked inside there were a bunch of cosmetic problems. The wood strip that runs long the seams has 1/2 inch gaps, or overlays where one strip would end and another start. This is all through the house. On the side of the fire place you can see the 2x4s through the concrete, and at the mouth of the fire place there are concrete drips that hang down.
My master bed has a large crack in the wall. On the bottom of the cabinets in the living room and bathroom are all jagged. The shelves inside the cabinets are the same. The door frames all were damaged in the move. They all have rub marks, and the framing is coming undone. In one of the bedroom closet there is a 1 inch gap between the door frame and the sheet rock. In the same closet there is a 1/2 inch gap in between 2 pieces of sheet rock. Plus in one of the corners the walls pulled apart making a gap. In the bathroom where the shower meets the wall there is a gap, and where the shower panel meets the tub. Plus it is bubbled out.
In our second living room the wood on the bar has a cut about a 4th of the way across. One of the cabinets have a pretty good knick out of the corner. In the kitchen as well as both bathrooms there is a very ugly rubber runner they placed between the back of the counter and the wall. It doesn't match, and stands out. I hate it. One of our up grades are missing. I hate it already, and we haven't even got to move into it yet. Just today they finished putting it together on the outside. They haven't even started to work on the seam on the inside. They say that might take another week or so. Also we payed extra for them to do the septic, and run water lines. Which still have to be done.
We were renting and gave a notice when we were told it would only be 8 weeks at the longest. Since it has been longer we have had to bunk in with family. We were so excited for it to be done so we could move in. Now we hate it and wish we could get our down payment back and get something else. They haven't kept one promise they made to us. Now we have to pay for, and live in this thing that looks like it will fall down around us if, and when we actually get to move in. If everything goes as planned we should be able to move into it in 3 weeks. It will probably be more like 5 or 6. By the time we can actually move in, it will have taken then about 5 months.

We purchased our Fleetwood Home in December of 2006 and actually got to move into it in January of 2007. From the first day we moved in we noticed problems, big & small, but were told a contractor would come out to take a look & fix all the problems on our work order, which ended up being about 3 pages long. The first contractor started coming out in February and would come once a week for about 3 months, until one day we noticed every time it would rain, our living room floor would get wet.
The next time that contractor was out, he pulled the outside siding off & the wall on the inside & we discovered a hole the size of a soccer ball all the way through. You could see outside. It had been leaking water for 4 months, and our boards & floor was moldy. Finally we called Fleetwood & they said they would send out another set of contractors from Texas to fix all the problems. They came out & stayed approx, 4 days, fixing things. My kitchen floor had to be replaced, my cabinets were not in line, my walls had holes in them, my carpet was mildewed, My doors, windows, light switches, and electric outlets leaked air (& still do), just to name a few problems.
When they left everything appeared to be ok, however, within a month I noticed everything was back to the same. My windows & doors (etc.) still leak air, my house creaks, I now have dishwasher problems, my battens won't stay on - they continue to pop off, the marriage line in my home has pulled apart to the point there is a big gap, noticable to the naked eye, my trim doesn't match up, & looks awful. My carpet is tearing apart. I could go on & on, but I will stop. All in all I will say I am not pleased with this home purchase and now I'm stuck with a 30 year mortgage on a home I can't fully enjoy because it's falling apart every day more & more. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE A FLEETWOOD HOME AGAIN!
Because of the fact my doors, windows, light switches etc leak air, my pocket book has suffered. My electricity bill has topped out at $400.00 this winter, not to mention, we still cant keep it warm in our home!

I bought a new double wide fleetwood in 3/05. I had many problems with it. I would have thought that by 1/08 (3 years later) that my problems would have finally stopped but not so. This was my 1st mobile home purchase and my 1st time living in the suburbs and having well water supply instead of city water as I was used to. One day while I was at work, the property owner decided to work on the well pump and shut my water supply off (no advance notice). As it turned out, he had a problem and did not get the pump fixed until 16 hours later! Little did I know that when he turned off the water supply that my hot water heater drained itself back into the feed line and emptied. All the while the electric power was on. Finally when the water was turned back on, I noticed that we did not have any hot water. I noticed that the circuit breaker was tripped and I looked around and did not see any problems and turned it back on. We had hot water for a while but later I noticed that the circuit breaker was tripped again.
I was not sure what to do or who to call so I started calling electrical contractors to come out to check my electric panel. I had to call several as a lot of them said they did not work on mobile homes!! Finally when one came out he took the cover off the side of my water heater and his first comment was did I turn the water supply off. I said no but the landlord had his contractor working on the pump house and he turned it off. He said the problem was that the water heater was empty and the power was on and it was trying to heat water that was not there, and burned up the heating element. The circuit breaker kept blowing because it was trying to tell me that something was wrong. Finally after replacing the part and handing me a hefty bill for emergency service he said to me that didn't they tell me when I bought the home that if I had well water, that I should get a one-way valve put on the water supply? I said no one ever told me that but now I know what I needed to do to prevent this from happening again! If only Fleetwood or Clayton homes would have told me I would have done it, as I did read everything that came with my home. Hopefully from reading this some other folks can keep from having the same problem as I did.
I lost time from work, damaged heating element, a hefty repair bill and an expensive lesson learned that could have been prevented if only someone had told me.

And from then on other cracks have appeared. The first thing we did was to contact Fleetwood. They sent someone out. The contractor scraped, re-puttied and resprayed the ceiling. We went through 5 contractors. The cracks still came back. I have every contractor that Fleetwood ever sent out here on video. Every repair made has been a waste of time.
I hired a structural engineer; he found more things wrong than we ever knew about. I sent out the necessary papers of complaints to the dealership and Fleetwood. Hired a lawyer almost 3 yrs. ago and can't seem to get any further. My lawyer said for me to get 2 contractors and have them give estimates on what the damage is and what it will cost to repair. He is trying to find an appraiser for us, but no one will give us the time of day. According to my lawyer, without estimates I have no case on this home. I'm trying to file a complaint with BBB and now Consumer Affairs. I have contacted the Manufactured Housing Authority and am waiting to hear from them. I'm totally disgusted with the whole thing. We purchased a Fleetwood home after a house fire in Nov 2004. We were finally able to move into it in April 2005. Immediately we were having problems with bowed/uneven floors throughout the house. A number of cosmetic defects, like the stucco ceilings were not right. You can see the connections of the sheetrock every 4 foot (looks like ribs running down my house). They did try to fix some of them, but just made it worse. Now I have ribs AND bright white patches. The family room ceiling (14x30) is totally messed up where they tried to reblend/repaint the ceiling.
They have have now informed me they do not have to fix cosmetic defects and are not going to do anything more about the family room ceiling. The dining room light is not center of the room, so you can't use the patio door if you put the table under the light. I was told to swag it over to where I want it. It looks stupid. Cosmetic defects are not covered by anyone's warranty and therefore you are just out of luck getting them fixed. I contacted HUD and they have been working for 1-1/2 years to get the structural problems fixed.
In Feb/Mar of this year (for 3-1/2 weeks), Fleetwood had a crew come out and redo EVERY floor in my home. In April, the problems were back, but with a new twist. An I-beam had twisted and broken one crossbeam welded to it and bent the crossbeam on the other side and my walls were now bowing throughout the house. Anywhere from 1/2 inch to almost 2 inches. In July 2005, HUD performed an inspection and witnessed/found my ductwork was leaking cold air inside the belly cavity and it was causing condensation which was causing the floors and walls to bow. They also found mold under my home.
They requested Fleetwood to repair the ductwork, then the floors and walls and have the inside of the house tested for mold. Fleetwood refused to have the interior of the house checked for mold. Fleetwood sent a crew out. They refused to work under the house with the mold, so Fleetwood sent someone to clean up the mold on the very underside of the house. Not inside the belly cavity, just the outside. They said their crew inspected the ductwork and they said it did not leak. Fleetwood sent a letter to HUD stating they are going to fix only my kitchen floor, not the bowed walls throughout the house, or the leaking ductwork nor the I-beam. They said the walls being bowed were within Fleetwood tolerance. HUD has stated they will have to repair these things. This is a nightmare with no end in sight.
Fleetwood states on their website they only use the best quality materials in their homes. I have pictures of the 2x6 exterior walls in my family room. They used 2x6's that were the edges of trees. You can see where they are skinned back where the bark was. They also state customer satisfaction is their goal. Somehow it does not seem that telling someone they do not have to fix cosmetic defects or bowed walls is wanting their customers to be satisfied. I have filed a complaint with HUD and the Illinois Attorney General's Office and am still waiting. I believe something needs to be done about this kind of thing. Not just for me, but for everyone. More and more people are buying these homes thinking that since the government regulates them so they must be good. No one tells us they only regulate structural non-conformities, not misrepresentations, deletions, or cosmetic defects. You're on your own for them.
