I did a lot of research and thought I was buying a quality product. Nothing could be further from the truth. Maytag is quite literally the WORST dishwasher I have ever had. Not only does it not clean well, but it does not last. I have only had the dishwasher for five years and everything is already rusted. One small plastic bit broke off the basket and the company won’t cover anything because the warranty only covers the basket which apparently doesn’t include the piece stretched to the side of the basket??!! I will never again buy a Maytag.

I have a Maytag dishwasher model #MDB8959SKZ0 that is maybe 2 years old at best. It replaced another Maytag that went out. This dishwasher has already malfunctioned 3 times over that span of time and Maytag will not answer their phones. This last malfunction is a filter part near the pump that basically peeled away and jammed the filter housing. I'm sure they do not honor their supposed 10 year limited warranty but couldn't tell you since it looks like their method of ignoring any incoming calls, and chats is their way of not fulfilling their warranty. Will never buy another Maytag appliance again. Too bad for them since I have a refrigerator, stove and microwave that I plan to replace this year.

I purchased a Maytag model mdb8989shz0. I would not recommend anyone purchase this dishwasher. The dishwasher looks great and the stainless steel stays clean. It also is very quiet and dries well. Unfortunately we have had several problems in the two years we have owned this Maytag dishwasher. First, it did not clean our disabilities well even in the beginning. We ended up having to wash our dishes before putting them in the machine. Also the clay and sand from the soap was still on our dishes after washing. Third, the spray nozzles on the sprayers clogged regularly.

Also after two years the food Chopper destroyed itself, while being perfectly clean. Probably was clean because we had to wash the dishes before putting them in the Maytag. All this is weird to us because this is our third dishwasher and the other two never had any of these problems. We still own the first but it is a role around model and we have a place under the sink. The dishwasher that came with the house worked OK, but was plastic and made a lot of noise, so after several years we replaced it with the Maytag.

This dishwasher broke twice in 3 years. The new repairs would cost $500 and when I called Maytag they said that the “10-year limited warranty”, does not apply. The first thing that broke was the pump and the second one involved the system that contains blades.

We’ve owned our Maytag dishwasher for about 5 years. It’s the worst dishwasher we’ve ever had. It started smelling like wet dog even after a wash cycle. I cleaned everything I could get to. It’s a terrible ordeal to get to the filter and clean it. I’ve never seen a dishwasher with such a stupid design. I tried dishwasher cleaner, still smelled. I tried vinegar, still smelled.

Our dishwasher on the top rack has the adjustable rack. There is a lot of plastic for the shelf adjuster. I took them apart and I about threw up. You wouldn’t even believe the filth in these adjusters. Again, another stupid design. I wasn’t about to put them back on. I used cable ties to just hold the rack up. I have to load the dishes on the top rack so they are completely flat, no stacking of bowls in the middle of the rack like the book shows that you can because food will remain on the dishes. I contacted Maytag about all of this. They didn’t care. Said they would tell their engineers about it. I’ll never buy another Maytag appliance. We have their built in oven too. It takes forever to heat up.

After a lot of research we bought a Maytag dishwasher and hate it already. Despite rinsing dishes before loading and no matter what cycle we put it on, half of the items come out dirty and unusable. It's so disappointing but what do you do? It's not practical or easy to uninstall it and take it back to the store. We are stuck with it and not happy. Maytag used to be a super product but I would never recommend a Maytag now. Plus, today's are only made to last "up to 10 years".

5-1/2 year old Maytag dishwasher is now in need of its 4th repair. 1st problem was top (3rd) rack replaced under warranty within 2 months. 2nd problem after 2-1/2 years the detergent dispenser needed to be replaced. Now a major flood in our kitchen. While taking the middle rack out noticed the rack height adjuster on one side was broken in 2 pieces (we never changed the rack height since purchasing the machine). Service company charged us $100 to tell us it needs a new motor and pump module installed to fix the leak, at a cost of $700 to $800 (I can buy a new one for that price).

I think they might’ve been a good company before Whirlpool bought them, but now they just produce products that are designed to fail in a few years so you have to buy a new one! I bought a Maytag dishwasher 2 years ago. It cost over 800 dollars. Within months I had to have the pabel replaced. Luckily, it was still under warranty. I have since had to pay for that panel to be replaced again, 400.00 with labor. And the damn thing is acting up again. The dishwasher is right next to the sink and if any water drips down from the counter onto the top panel of the dishwasher, whether a spill or drips from Dish strainer, the thing goes crazy blinking and making noises and it won't work for days, if at all. We'll see. I have spoken with the company and they not only didn't have someone in my area for repairs, but told me because I didn't take out an extended warranty they are not willing to do a search for a repair company for me. If the dishwasher needs another repair it is going to the dump. Consumer beware.

This is in front of the motherboard and does not get wet!! Only my husband and I live here using it. I have bought inferior brands before where this has never ever happened. I bought the dishwasher as claims 10 year warranty and Maytag used to have pride with their products. I own a maytag washer and dryer. I am embarrassed as I have referred maytag to many friends and family including my son and sister. I called maytag and the young lady on other end sounded robotic just repeating the 10 year warranty does not cover rust etc and I could qualify for 20% off of a new one???? The rust is not even where the water touches! Picture below.

New Maytag dishwasher (2023) started having error codes 6 weeks after purchase. Went through the arduous Maytag process to have repair done. Same problem occurred 8 weeks later and again went through the Maytag warranty process and again the repair was done. Currently the same error codes have recurred and am going through the same process. Repair tech was here again and verified that it was the same problem codes. Maytag has arranged yet a different repair tech to do the repair. Consequently, Maytag will be spending more money doing repairs than the actual cost of the dishwasher. If in fact the recurring problem can be repaired, the one year warranty will have run out and I am left with a new non repairable dishwasher that I will have to bear the cost of further repairs. In future, I will not be purchasing Maytag products and will advise others accordingly. Maytag does stand behind their product.

I bought stainless steel dishwasher on April 11, 2022. It was model MDB4949SKZO and cost in excess of $800.00 from Lowes. In Dec of 2022 after it was installed, it showed an error code relating to the drain and stopped working. After contacting Whirlpool / The Maytag repairman changed a cheaply made plastic drain pump. Fast forward to early Oct of 2023 just 10 months later from the last repair the same issue happened again that showed an error code relating to the drain and stopped working. This is where it really begins to get bad.

First Their warranty claim line is absolutely flawed. The automated AI constantly stops mid-sentence and says it cannot understand my selection in order to get me to the right department. Even if it's dead silence on my end it just keeps repeating itself. After a very unreasonable amount of time and retrying over and over I finally got through.

After speaking to the Whirlpool customer service tech (Sasha) about the issue, I was instructed to wait 2hrs then call the repair company to schedule a day and time for the repair. This was explained to me this was because she could not see on her end available dates and times and needed a 2hr window for the repair company systems to update/get the work order. 2 follow up calls and 4hs later and the repair company still did not have my info. The Tech I spoke to from the repair company told me she used to work for Whirlpool and instructed me to redo the process but do it directly from Whirlpool's website to avoid the phone issues all over again. Finally, after investing in some serious time because of Whirlpool, I was able to get a date and time for the repair which was scheduled for Nov 2nd.

Here it is, 2 weeks later Nov 2 and the repair tech calls me to confirm he’s coming and states to me it’s a $175 diagnostic fee and a $200 repair fee but the part was covered. What!!!! I explained to him I was pretty sure It was all covered under warranty but of course he’s just the repair man and that I needed to take it up with Whirlpool. What’s very upsetting here is 2 weeks later on the day of the scheduled repair I’m being told it's not covered!!! I get on the phone right away with Whirlpool. Oh, wait I meant to say It took awhile to reach a whirlpool service tech due to the screwed up automated answering system they have but when I finally did reach a person (Brittney) she took care of everything in about 30 minutes.

Then She put me on hold to call over to the service Company to confirm to them to do the repairs to which while I was on hold for that I was texting the actual technician who was on his way to my home when he stated to confirm labor and parts were covered not just the parts. Britney returns to me, I confirmed with her again being very specific about the labor and parts and her answer was yes. Now I personally call the tech who is on his way and told him the story, he called his superiors only to call me back and say nope only the part was covered. WTF!!!! Am I in the twilight zone. Folks I am not exaggerating! I solidly just confirmed it with Whirlpool!

I call Whirlpool back…Yup that automated answering thing again…. Get another Whirlpool service tech (Nameless) who places me on hold for a solid 15 min only to come back and tell me her system/computer was not updating and could not read my file/case whatever that means so I had to explain everything again. She then stated to me that my dishwasher was out of warranty when I begin to remind her the issue was the same issue that happened just 10 months earlier and that should still be covered. She agreed and after being put on hold again for another solid 15 min she comes back and states they are going to cover it.

I’m Put on hold again while she does what she needs to do to get this done and all of a sudden…. Yup, you guessed it, cut off/hung up who knows but all this is under my phone number so you think you would get a call back….nope. Guess what? I have to call them back!!! The ** automated answering machine made me insane at this point. Now I get another Whirlpool tech (Jacinda) who put me on hold and was able to read my file comes back and states my dishwasher was out of warranty so again I reexplained my case how I purchased my dishwasher in April 2022, had a repair made in Dec 2022 only for that repair not to hold and broke again just 10 months later.

She come back with they will cover the part and labor cost of $200 but not the diagnostic fee of $175.00. I told her that was unacceptable for me and was told that she would forward it up higher in the chain and someone will call me tomorrow. I don’t expect a call back and will update this if someone actually does call me back. Btw don’t be fooled by that nice, thick, shiny 10 Year Warrant Sticker they put on all their appliances. Some here have said it right, Maytag was a reputable company. Not anymore.

Dishwasher stopped and beeped obnoxiously and continuously mid-wash with error code F8E4, apparently a common problem (water collecting somewhere it shouldn't). I called the Maytag service number and got loud hold music for an hour plus a repeated message that it could be done online--obviously they do not want to talk to us. Went online to schedule service, but when Sears (their contractor) called, it had been listed as out-of-warranty, so the call was cancelled. When I tried to call or text the message was, "Call back EST" (we're PST). From other reviews it seems this problem cannot be fixed permanently, but I will keep trying just to get a service call before the warranty expires.

This happened 2 more times (every 3 or 4 months). The repairman finally changed the control module and it stopped working again 3 months later. I have to remove tiles every time they repair it and that is costing me a fortune. So, after 1 yr 3 months of constant repairs, I am sending it to the junk and I’ve just bought a GE. Bought a Maytag SBD4949SKZ dishwasher 4/11/2021 from Lowe's. On 4/7/2023 while doing some general cleaning in the kitchen I pulled out my stove to clean behind it. Discovered a puddle and as the stove is directly beside the dishwasher I checked it for leaks. Found the heating element to be the source of the issue. Had apparently been leaking for some time and the floor must slope slightly towards the wall since I didn't notice the leak. The rubber washers where the element enters the wash tub had completely deteriorated allowing a slow leak for quite awhile. The wall had black mold, floor was squishy, lots of damage to deal with.

I contacted Maytag customer service, provided proof of date of purchase and cost of repairs for the dishwasher and got a reply that basically although they hate it for me, I'm on my own. I was taught that if possible buy a $500 item that last 20 years is better than buying a $250 Item that last 10. Apparently these days nothing is made to last past 2 years, everything is disposable, so I will skip the repairs next time and get a cheap appliance instead. Pros, it's quiet and cleans the dishes great. Cons, within 2 years you need another and several K'$ in home repair. Buy a leak detector for $12 on Amazon when purchasing Maytag dishwashers.

We have a Maytag Dishwasher: Model MDB7759SAS4, serial F41306161, purchased from Camden Appliance Niles, MI on 12/30/16 but put in service 11/14/17 due to a delay in whole-house restoration. On 7/7/2022 at 8:30 pm after starting the dishwasher about 20 minutes earlier, we heard what sounded like fireworks going off in our kitchen. Dark gray/black smoke was rolling out of the dishwasher. Even after throwing the breaker, the crackling continued. My husband and I quickly unscrewed the front of the dishwasher door and cut the wires with scissors. We pulled the controls and foam out and took that out of the house. At that point, our entire house stunk of burnt electronics. I called Maytag customer service at 800-544-5513 only to be directed to call back in the morning. My husband called back and was told by the CSR (Janice?) that she would send a safety team to our home and that Maytag “will definitely do something for you”.

Adam from Diamond Appliance showed up at 3:45 pm on 7/12/22, knew exactly where the fire started, indicating that he had seen this many times before, took pictures and called Maytag customer service back. At that point, Maytag said they would do NOTHING for us. No explanation, NOTHING. My husband took the burnt controls and door foam to Camden’s to see if they would do anything. Nope, they have scaled back their selling of Maytag products due to ongoing quality problems.

If we had not been home, awake and quick thinking, we would have have hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage to our extensive fine art collection, which is irreplaceable. So now we have a burnt shell of a dishwasher in our beautiful home. The dishwasher has been used gently (two people, run twice per week). Previous house had two dishwashers in 30 years, only replaced first one because it was loud. In response to your attitude regarding our problem, rest assured that we will let everyone know, in person and online, the quality and SAFETY concerns with Maytag appliances.
