We purchased an LG range with convection/double oven and it was delivered in December 2012. I was at my home in Nashville so I never used the stove until I returned on February 12th, 2012. My daughter did use the stove and it worked fine as far as using the burners was concerned. I am a baker (experienced) and so I tried the ovens and they do not work properly. They are not calibrated correctly and bake uneven and spotty. The oven temp does not work properly. The cakes bake/burn on the outside and not in the middle. Now, the 90-day warranty has passed and I do not know what I can do to get this lemon of an appliance replaced. I work in media and you can bet that I will not be telling the public to purchase this stove. Awful, just awful! I will never purchase an LG appliance again!

I bought an LG gas range in 2008! From the beginning, I have had nothing but problems with it. To get anything done about it, you have to spend hours on the phone and literally fight for something to be taken care of. Now, in 2013, I have peeling knobs on the range. The plastic on the stainless steel knobs is warped, cracked and coming off. My goal for a stainless range was to look nice and professional; now it looks **!

I called thinking they would help me. Guess what? Nope! They will do nothing, but they will sell me new knobs at about $70 a pop. Yes, for one knob! Can you believe the insanity and the nerve? We own a restaurant, and I can get a commercial knob for my range for $10. This company is awful. I told the customer service representative I spoke with that I buy a lot of equipment for rental properties and I will never, never buy an LG appliance again. She didn't really care!

I am the same person who reported a problem with a Magic Chef under-the-counter microwave that gave up the ghost after 3 years. I had purchased the Magic Chef microwave oven and an LG Electric Range (LSB5682SW/SB/S) at the same time from Home Depot. Now, the LG Electric Range has a malfunction with an oven sensor. I went to an appliance parts department for a replacement, only to be told they couldn't sell me one because LG will not allow anyone other than their service people to install it. I checked online and the price is $19.35. After I removed the rear cover plate, the sensor, held on with two screws, took me a couple of minutes to remove.

My complaint is twofold. First, what right does LG have telling the home handyman he can't fix his own property after a warranty runs out? Second, why do these more expensive items fall apart shortly after the warranty expires? Mostly, why aren't these companies held responsible until someone with some authority gets involved?

After posting this rant, there is a box to tick asking if I want an attorney to contact me about my complaint. I thank Consumer Affairs for offering me that option, but it would be cheaper to buy a new appliance and that's the problem. LG, Magic Chef, and other appliance companies know this and are counting on it. New technology? Another money-maker for the greedy companies. The one thing I am glad I didn't do was to purchase the two-year extended warranty. Both appliances failed a few days after the warranty expired. Consumer, beware.

After less than one year of owning my stainless LG gas range, the 5 knobs, which are made to mimic stainless, bubbled on the outside and cracked at the attachment spot. LG replaced them as it was within the warranty period. That was February 12, 2011. Less than one year later, 4 of 5 knobs are again bubbled and broken. I have not phoned LG to see their response yet but regardless, clearly the quality is incredibly poor.

I have had an LRG30357ST range for almost 4 years now. All of the knobs have cracked at the base and now we had a gas leak from the burners because they won't shut off all the way. I have contacted LG and they won't do anything because I can't find a copy of the receipt from 4 years ago. You would think that having the stove should be enough proof that it was purchased! Now we are out of a stove until I spend $400 on 5 knobs or buy a new stove! You would think with all of the complaints and the safety factor, they would have a recall and replace the cheap knobs with one that have a metal base. They charge $73.52 plus tax and shipping for each replacement knob on www.LG.com. For that price, they should be able to make one out of stainless steel and not plastic.

We purchased an electric range, model LRE3012ST, on October 27, 2012, a top of the line model electric range. On the second day, we noticed that one burner when turned off did not show the HS indicating the surface was still hot. This is a safety feature to tell the consumer not to go near the burner since it's still dangerously hot. We had two service calls over the next four weeks, and the technician would replace circuit boards. In both repairs the problem became worse, meaning other problems occurred besides still having the original issue.

After the technician left the second time telling us he would call back when he had new parts, I decided to call Home Depot; and to make a long story short, LG called two days later and said they would deliver a new range. We received the new range on Dec. 22, 2012. And today, January 8, 2013, after having used the oven, we are unable to turn the oven off. The only way to turn it off is to pull the range from the wall and unplug it. My next call very shortly will be to Home Depot and demand they take this range; and I want it replaced with another range, but not an LG. I don't know where this range is made, but I will guess it's China or the parts are made in China. And once again, China screws the American consumer.

The stove sensors were broken from time received and never fully repaired. The oven overheats and the temperature is not accurate. The refrigerator’s water to ice maker cracked and flooded the kitchen. They don't make replacements because “they don't break”. The shelves are flimsy and cracks easily. The dishwasher’s motherboard fried after 1 year, and they refused any compensation.

The hot surface lights on my LG range (lde3011st) have not worked and this could be a burn hazard. I did already burn my hand once on it because I did not know that the cooktop had been used while I was outside. LG has failed to fix the problem. I only bought it in August of 2012. I also bought the service contract. I'm not at all happy with LG as they will not even call me back and will not answer my emails. I also found there is an opening between the glass in the two ovens. It burned the top of my hand from condensation building up between the glass when the ovens are on and then drips down onto to your hand when you are puling item out or basting something. LG does not care. They just want your money. I will never buy another LG product again.

Barbara of Mountain View, NY, I couldn't agree with you more. I also had to deal with Willie at LG! The stove was part of my kitchen remodel. Within its first year, the entire motherboard had to be replaced only after they tried to replace a segment of the board only. While the repairman is installing the new board, he notices the oven door has 'unnoticeably' come out of its frame at the bottom and decides to tighten it and alert us to that fact. In its 3rd year, while baking, all we heard from the next room was glass exploding then glass raining onto my new hardwood floor. After picking up our jaws in disbelief, we quickly snapped several pics of the damage and sent it to LG along with the original sales receipt.

At first they wouldn't pay for an 'investigator' to come out but then did so. The 'investigator' turned out to be some subcontractor 'Joe Schmo' who took 2 pics and then left only for Willie to tell me that the board had decided that this was not the fault of the stove but mine! We were left just completely disgusted by their demeanor and their so-called internal investigation with their engineers, not to mention their lack of concern that anyone could have been hurt. So LG products of any sort are now on our 'boycott' list.

They recalled the motherboard and I had that replaced. Now once again, the oven doesn't heat up. Is there a lemon law for these horrible appliances? I was told by the appliance repair service that LG is a high end range. I had GE ranges and they lasted 10 years plus. This stove worked for less than 3 years. Original cost is $1,000, plus repairs of $200 divided by years equals $400 a year. Very expensive for a lousy quality appliance. LG and Best Buy should be investigated for selling lemons.

The sensor has been replaced twice and the brain box once, and last week (11/8/2012), they were back again because of the same problem (sensor). This time, they put goop in the back of it to keep it from making the sensor noise. All I want is to have decent appliances! Luckily for me, this range has an extended warranty! My fridge wasn't so lucky. Well, I should say we are so lucky - $500 in medicine and food wasted! LG doesn't care! They won't do anything! The list goes on and on for ** appliances! The dryer and washer have both had to have repairs to them within the first year; the range, 4 times in 7 months. Now the fridge! Something needs to be done! The only way it would stop was to pull the stove out from the wall. Still sparking, it was unplugged and we turned off the gas. LG came out today and has no idea what caused this and doesn't know what to do about it. I was told to call them if it happens again. That's if we are home and, God forbid, not asleep. I purchased an LG stove less than 5 years ago. Shortly after the warranty of one year expired, the electronic keypad went out. With the keypad out, you are not able to use the stove for anything - burners or stove part. I contacted the dealer where we had purchased the stove for $850 and he got us the part and replaced it. We had to wait a few weeks for the part to come in. Now the electronic keypad has gone out again and after contacting LG, we were told that they will not stand behind their product or the parts past the warranty period. The warranty on the part was 90 days. We have to fix it to do anything with it. Bottom line to this, do not buy LG as their product is not good and they do not stand behind it. After fixing again, we will see about trading it in for a different brand. Our dealer has been wonderful. I feel sorry for them having to face the public for LG's products.

I remodeled my kitchen in 2011 and installed a LG gas range (model LRG3093ST). My range is right at 2 years old. For the last 6 months, the knobs have been splitting and spinning on the posts so that they do not turn the gas totally off. At first I smelled gas and could not figure out what was wrong until one split and lost a chunk of plastic to the point that turning it did not turn the flame off at all. I wrapped wire tightly around the posts to limp along, but now all are broken to the point none will turn on or off the gas. When I contacted LG, I was told they were out of warranty and I would be responsible for the purchase of the knobs.

I told MCM Electronics, which they referred me to, that I would buy more knobs if they are better quality - not plastic. However, they are only authorized to sell original (defective) parts and they referred me to contact LG directly. After reading these reviews, how does LG get away with continuing to provide defective parts of any kind that are dangerous? If this were a car, the units would be recalled or new replacement parts would have to be upgraded. Leaking gas and fires can kill as well as car accidents. I will certainly do better research before purchasing any appliance again in the future - I am sure it will not be LG.

If it is repaired again now, there is no guarantee it won’t need repairing again in the near future. As the warranty is coming up, I don’t want to take this chance. I have already been greatly inconvenienced. On 6 occasions, I have had to leave work to meet with the repairer to have the oven fixed. Often I have to wait for the part. Our LG stove has also experienced cracked plastic stems on the SS burner knobs from regular use as others have posted. The problem was discovered when one burner would not turn off as the knob had rotated past the stop. This is a major safety hazard. The cost of replacement knobs is at least $75 to $95 each and not an acceptable option. I have devised a simple fix to reinforce cracked (not broken) plastic burner knob stems. The total parts cost is less than $5 for five burners and can be done using typical household hand tools or tools that cost only a few dollars each. We love the way our stove (LRG3095) looks with its beautiful cobalt oven, but we do not like that two of the burners are weak. I do not need a manufacturer to call one burner a "power burner" while another will barely boil a saucepan of water. All burners should have been equal, allowing me, the customer, to decide how high to turn the heat. Also, the top control panel sticks out more than 2 inches into the space of the back burners, so you can't really fit four pots on the range at once - extremely frustrating and really cuts into the functionality of this otherwise well-designed piece of equipment.

In my humble opinion, there should have been a recall issued a while ago on this; and you don't have to be a NASA rocket scientist to figure that out. I looked at the complaints the customers have made against the LG line, and it's been going strong since 2009. I am not sure what the Consumer Protection Board is waiting on. But I'm hoping to at least use this venue to get the message out. Within few months, one of the knobs cracked at the plastic insert. Now why on earth would you design a knob with a plastic insert to mesh with a metal shaft? I replaced this with a new one costing $80. After a few months, this one cracked again and I had to junk the knob as it was of no use. Now after a year, the rest of the 4 knobs have cracked too and I have to use a Gorilla SuperGlue to hold them together. Not sure how long they last. Calling the customer service is of no use as they redirected me to the parts department.

Why on earth would I pay $400 ($80 times 5) for 4 knobs? I will be junking the gas range once the knobs become unusable. My advice to fellow consumers, be cautious when buying an LG product and make sure you have reviewed thoroughly the comments by other consumers. I will never buy an LG appliance going forward. I would never buy this type of range again. The large burners are in the front, where one would place a large stock pot. It is very dangerous to have such a large pot positioned in front. You have to reach over it to get to the smaller pots. It's very dangerous. The reason I bought this range was because it matches the refrigerator. It looks good, but it is difficult to use. I can manage it, because it is just my husband and myself. If I had a young family, I would get rid of it (even though it is new). It could become a hazard with small children around. They could easily pull a large pot over on them. I am constantly vigilant when I am cooking on it and worried I will tip the front pots over on myself. It's not a pleasure to cook anymore!

I am very disappointed at the integrity of the knobs. They look and feel like good quality, but I am disappointed to find that inside the knob hole is plastic (not good quality). After just over a year (warranty expired, of course), two of the knobs cracked inside the holes and will no longer turn the burners on correctly. Within the first year of owning a new LG gas range, the 5-burner control knobs were breaking where the knob slides onto the shaft of the gas control mechanism. I tried repairing it myself and it worked for a while, but now they are so bad they need replacing. Why can it not be made of metal? This simple solution would solve the problem. While searching various parts replacement sites, the knobs are over $70.00 each to replace, 5 x 70 = $350.00 for knobs? Is this customer service and support after the sale?

I am so disappointed in the quality of these knobs and the expense to replace them that I may replace the whole range on principle and never purchase an LG product again, of any type. What happens when I put the new knobs on and they crack and break? Another $350.00 in today's dollars for knobs? I don't think so. I have checked around and there are no replacement knobs of better quality available. LG needs to get their act together. After almost one and a half year only, now all the 5 valves and burners are bad and thank God I bought the extended warranty which is covering that problem.

The only reason I bought this stove was the look and then I assumed that since it is an expensive stove, it must be good. But beware everybody, do not buy this product! I will keep on saying that until they fix my stove either by replacing it for once and for all. But at least I found a nice rep who promised to send me 5 new knobs as they have upgraded those knobs with metal inserts. Let's see if they'll work or not!

We bought our LG gas stove in 2009. The first problem we had with it was a week before the warranty was up, lucky for us. The problem was that the valves for turning on the stove were too easy to turn on. I had accidentally turned the stove on with my behind as I turned away from the stove and brushed against the knobs. I didn't think much of it at the time until our toddler was working his way around the kitchen and on two occasions slapped at the knobs and turned the gas on in both cases. We immediately called the LG service line and they had the valves replaced. What we noticed shortly after was the knobs themselves getting loose.

When I checked them out, I noticed that the backer was cracking and crumbling away. I contacted company for replacement parts and was shocked at the cost of replacing the knobs, about 30% of the cost of the stove itself. I checked the net and found that this was a common problem with no solution listed. What I did to correct it was to take one of the remaining better knobs and go to a good appliance retailer. I pulled knobs of stoves in inventory and checked to see if the LG knob would fit. When I got one, I asked about ordering replacement knobs for that unit and found them to be of better quality and lower replacement cost. I picked up a set of 5 for under a $100 and I am sure I could have gotten a better deal if I wasn't in such a hurry to get a set that fit. I will never by an LG again and have told everyone I work with my LG horror story. Also, my LG french door fridge has had a drawer bracket crack and my LG dishwasher is experiencing problems as well. They were all bought at the same time.

We have an LG LRE30755ST that we purchased in May of 2007. It was manufactured in April of 2007. On April 6, 2012, while cooking dinner in the oven, a loud humming noise started and we noticed there was a fire inside the oven. I immediately grabbed the kids and ran, and my husband shut the oven down and grabbed the extinguisher. After it cooled down, it appears some sort of wiring between the warming drawer and the bottom of the oven caused the fire and it burned a hole through the bottom of the oven. I contacted LG about this, even though it was out of the 1 year warranty and the only thing they had to offer was to send out a technician to perform a diagnostic test for $89.

I told her there was nothing to diagnose, there is a hole burned in the bottom of my oven, it needs to be replaced. The agent simply said, "I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you". We are furious as this is a very dangerous product and have seen several other reports of the exact same circumstances, yet the product has not been recalled, simply/conveniently "discontinued". If we had been in another room, this could have been a major fire and done damage to our home. LG needs to be held accountable for their poor products.

Eight months in, the front large burner melted then began melting the underside of the cook top. I got it replaced under LG warranty. Another 6 months in, the same thing happened again, only this time the burner was on and could not be turned off. I had to plug the range out for it to go off. The top and the circuit board were replaced. On February 12, 2012, the same exact burner came on by itself destroying dinner. The saving grace was the smoke detector. Once again, the control panel did not respond. I had to turn of the breaker to the stove.

Even after the stove cooled down and the breaker was turned on, the control panel did not respond. I am totally scared for my family's safety with this stove. It finally responded after several attempts. I have to turn off the breaker after each use just as a precaution. What about the warranty, you ask? Talk about the royal runaround. LG denies there is a problem with the stove and won't replace the it. Home Depot won't take it back since LG should be the one who covers it.

The extended warranty company will only replace the circuit board but the glass top is at LG 's discretion. Today is March 15, 2012 and the stove still has not been repaired as yet even with the extended warranty. The LG dishwasher purchased at the same time has had the motor replaced because it burnt out. I would not recommend any LG product my worst enemy. I will be purchasing new stove ASAP. Needless to say, it will not be LG.

The knobs were broken. Originally, I thought it was just my stove. I have since found out that this is an enormous problem for LG. I returned home over Thanksgiving to smell gas. My elderly mother had made some tea while I was at the store. She was visiting for the holiday and was unfamiliar with the stove. She thought she had turned it off, but because the knobs were spinning on the posts, the stove only appeared to be off. It was in fact filling the room with gas. While I was opening the windows, my mother was apologizing while rushing to the stove to turn it off in her embarrassment. Knowing what was about to happen, I lurched across the room and grabbed her hand before she reached the stove.

Of course, if she had turned the knob at that time, it would have passed the ignition point and exploded the gas that was filling the room. Instead, I left the gas on at it's lowest setting while opening all the doors and windows. 10 minutes later, when I aired the kitchen, I crouched down and turned off the stove. I wrote LG six weeks ago and they have not responded. I think many people would do what my mother nearly did and exploded their house. This product is deadly. It is just a matter of time before it kills people. LG needs to proactively seek out every stove with this defect and fix it or recall the product.

I will never purchase another LG product, they are inferior, and the manufacturer doesn't stand behind their product at all! We purchased a French door refrigerator and electric range 4 years ago and we have had nothing but problems. The refrigerator light malfunctioned while still under warranty and could have burnt our house down. Luckily, we were in town and I caught it just as the light cover had melted and warmed up everything in our fridge. The cabinet above the fridge was so hot, we could have cooked eggs in it. The ice maker has always had issues, and the fridge has intermittently frozen our vegetables at will.

The manufacturer did replace the light fixture as this was a well-documented problem and I found hundreds of others online with the same melting problem including a few that actually did encounter a fire. The electric oven we purchased has had issues almost from the time the 1-year warranty was up. At times, we've had one or two burners that wouldn't work, and most recently, the start button on the oven doesn't work. We had this repaired a month ago, only to have the same problem the day before Christmas. In calling the repairman back, it will cost us another $400 after the $80 last month to repair this relatively new oven.

Five minutes into cooking them, I heard glass shatter. I ran to the kitchen thinking a window had broken. I looked at the oven and the inside glass had shattered.

I waited the weekend and called LG service on Monday. A service man came on Tuesday (Granville **). He came late. He trudged through my house with mud and looked at my paperwork for the stove. He poked at the broken glass and tiny pieces fell on the floor. He took pictures, closed the door, took a picture of the serial number, kicked the tiny of pieces of glass off his work boot and proceeded to leave my house. I stopped him and asked if the repair was getting done today. He said something about the LG company. I said, “Could you please tell me if the repair is getting done today?” He said, "Call the company tomorrow." I said, “Tomorrow, I want my stove done today.” He said, "Call the company. When they came back on the phone, they said, “The service man notified us that it was negligence on your part that the oven glass broke.” Was it on my part? I put something in to cook. The glass shattered only on the inside pane of glass and blew apart into tiny pieces that flew all over my floor when I opened it. And I have a small child that could have been badly injured if he was playing near this monstrosity of a product. A service man came, poked his finger at the broken glass and more pieces fell on my spotless floor. He kicked his heel to make the ones on his boot fall off onto my floor and walked away leaving them there. And I'm into day six without a stove and your company is telling me I can get it repaired if I pay for it.

Should I pay for it? I don't even think this stove is safe with new glass. Something caused that glass to blow apart, whether the thermostat let the temperature get too high, the glass wasn't properly sealed, or the complete stove is defective. One thing is certain. I did nothing wrong to cause this to happen. And the replies I keep getting, that are made to make me feel like a liar, are totally sickening. I have LG washer and dryer, dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, stove, and seven wall unit air conditioners. And you mean to tell me that I never made a single complaint. But the one and only time I do, I'm at fault? Did I deliberately or by mistake broke a window out of my oven? Absolutely not. I bought all these products in good faith. They want 70 dollars each to replace and there are five knobs. We will buy a new stove before we pay 350 to replace knobs with cheaper knobs.

Second problem has happened three times in the past two years and 11 months. Somehow, the knob gets turned in the on position either by accidentally knocking it or maybe the knob fully turning the burner into a safe position. We were thinking maybe our body was hitting it when using the above microwave or simply not turning off all the way. Normally, they make a clicking sound when it's calling for gas and not lighting. We shook it off as a freak accident the first time.

The second time really got our attention and we gave the kids a lesson on what was going on. The third time, we both were working and the kids microwaved some popcorn and must have bumped one of the burners. We have no idea how they could not have smelt the gas odor but it was so scary that we made another call to LG. We hope to here back since we have no choice but to get a safer stove.

I bought an LG Range model LRE3981ST from Home Depot in February 2011. On July 2011, I noticed rust spots on the front door of the range; I called service and booked a tech to come out. After waiting for an hour (and now late for work), the technician called me and said he did not have approval for the service call, and it will be a $75 charge. I was also asked why I didn’t read the service contract, so I told him not to bother to come out. I called the customer service and pulled it out of them that there is a service call fee of $75.00.

I called Home Depot and explained the situation. They said they will give me the $75.00 fee back on my credit card, and to go ahead in booking an appointment. I tried today (August 10) to make an appointment. LG said to call back on August 15 since they will not show any available appointments until that date. I was also told that rust spots are not covered. Why did I pay for an extended warranty? I will now never buy another LG product again.

I bought an LG over the stove exhaust hood microwave in September 2009. Less than a year later, the door cracked along the frame. This hood was covered under warranty.

Again, in 9 months, the second door did the same thing. I was referred to Warner Stellian's headquarters customer service. Susan ** dealt with LG, who said "too much time had lapsed since the original warranty expired." She then contacted their sales rep who came back with the same response.

Therefore, Warners Stellian will do nothing about the door. I think the second door should have been under warranty because it was a new door. Otherwise, the microwave should be replaced. The plastic construction of the microwave door is defective; it's failed twice, both times within 9 months of installation.

I purchased an LG electric range in 2008 model LRE30451SW/SB/ST. Towards the end of the first year I noticed at times that things on the touchpad didn't work. As time went on, this happened more often.

I went to the appliance store and was told more information was needed. Several months passed before it "goofed up" again. I reported it. He called to LG but was frustrated with their response.

The stove then worked again for several months when the problems slowly became worse. Sometimes turning off the breaker at the circuit panel would correct the problem. It finally arrived at the point where nothing worked on the stove. I called the company myself and was given the run-around.

Of course, everything was my fault. Don't buy an LG appliance. They don't care about the customer.

When I attempted to self-clean my oven I had to stop before it was done because it started smoking. I called customer service and they told me that there is nothing they can do since the oven is no longer under warranty. I have read many reviews on several different websites about similar complaints from other consumers and wanted to file one myself.

I can not afford to purchase a new oven, especially since this one was just manufactured in 2007. I am scared as to what the cost of repairs would be, especially since I shouldn't have to pay for repairs for an appliance that according to other complaints that I've read has an obvious defect in this particular oven model.

They would not send out a technician and told me to bring it in to the store for replacement, since it was new. I am experiencing multiple problems with my stove. The knobs are not stainless, and discolor and bubble.

The top finish is peeling off. The dishwasher is rusting (absurd!) on the outside stainless" finish. It never dries the dishes. I took out an extended warranty - why, I don't know. They denied, but said LG should take care of these issues with me. Any rusting, peeling, or chipping is not covered by any warranty, even the LG one. LG does not stand by their products.

I purchased a LG gas range model LRG30357ST from HH Gregg on 3/18/09. We put this in a home we were remodeling to sell, as everyone knows what the economy did. After a few months, we decided to move into the home. The first time I used the self-clean oven, the door locked and would not open. I called LG and they referred me to repairman near the home. James, the repairman, came out three days later to unlock the oven door. He stated this would happen every time I used the self-clean as it builds up so much heat that the thermostat has no way to release some of the heat. The heat burns the motor up in the lock of the oven.

The first time he came, I had to pay $80.00 service fee to get my oven door unlocked so I could use it. This is almost three months ago. I was told that I would get a refund for my money. That hasn't happened yet. James ordered the parts needed. This took awhile to get James back to repair the oven so the self-clean would work. I cleaned the oven again in two weeks as it needed it, again I called LG and told them the same thing had happened, I cleaned the oven and the oven door would not open. Again, James comes and unlocks the door to the oven. I called and spoke to a supervisor. He assured me the problem would be corrected with the part they were sending.

When the repairman, James, came again to repair the self-clean function, he told me that this part is just like the one I took off, it will do it again. In the meantime, I have been calling to get approval numbers for these repairs, going through the same thing again. I had to borrow a neighbor's oven to cook. James repaired the oven as he spoke to the tech department at LG and they have told him what parts were needed. As I type this, I am again waiting for James to come and unlock the oven door so I can cook dinner. Also, during this time, I had a dinner party and was going to use the warming drawer, yes, your right, it doesn't work either.

This is Tuesday before Thanksgiving and the oven still is locked. I told James that I was going to use the self-clean as he was coming to repair the warming drawer and we would know if the oven would lock up or was repaired. He agreed. I used it last night and as I stated, it locked again. I called LG this morning and told them about the door locked again and the lemon law. Candis, the supervisor, told me that only applied to a car. Wrong! I am faxing all my paperwork to her plus I am speaking to attorney about getting a full refund for this appliance. I want to also see if I can be reimbursed for all the stress this has put on me.

I was told that it is not within one year of the "original" purchase date.

I believe that they just hope that their units last one year but do not build them with any kind of quality to last for a reasonable duration of time. We are so absolutely disgusted, disgusted, disgusted with LG and their total lack of customer service. We will never ever, ever buy another LG appliance. I am searching for an excellent U.S. manufacturer that makes a unit that will last and which they will stand behind, which LG does not. I purchased floor model gas LG stove from Best Buy for a remodel which took 9 months. Finally, I turned on, 3 of the burners didn't light, the other 2 would not adjust. I called LG warranty, sent a technician that said he never repairs gas stoves because 'they hardly break'. He banged around the stove, scratching the enamel and without much troubleshooting, said it was the computer. 2nd visit he changed the computer, same problem remained. Again, without troubleshooting any other part, declared it was the ignitors, it would take 1 week to receive.

3 weeks later, 3rd visit had to be canceled because he hadn't noticed that the box he received was empty, had to reorder the ignitors. 3 weeks later, he took apart the ignitors but had to remember how he removed them so he could put them back together. I had to call his 'home office' for help, the help technician was loosing his patience with the inept technician that could not follow his directions.

Problem was not resolved. He announced, 'he'll take care of me' by replacing the entire innards. 4th visit was canceled (after I left work early to wait for the tech), asked me to call him to read him the part number of the parts already replaced (he had not keep track?), I had not received the other parts yet. 2 weeks go by and I call to check the status. I was told by LG repair that the technician had hurt his back, they would call me with another technician within 24 hours. 4 days later still had not heard. I called again and was told they do not have another technician in the area. I live in Washington DC, not an urban setting, there are a minimum of 6 LG retailers within a 5 mile radius and they had one technician? They made me wait the 5 weeks until his back healed.

In the meantime, I purchase an extended warranty from LG as I could see the one-year warranty was about to expire and I had no confidence it would be fixed. 5th visit, 5 weeks later, he brings more parts, but is having a hard time putting the stove back together once he removes the majority of the parts. in the middle of it, he tells me one of the small screws is stripped and he will have to go to a special machine shop to find an identical one.

2 weeks later, he calls to tell me he's going to record the stove as being 'unfixable' and request a return authorization. Stove has now been in pieces in the middle of the kitchen for months. I call the extended warranty folks, they tell me they can not help me if the stove is in pieces. The original tech must put it back together in order to for the extended warranty tech to service. I decide to pursue the return.

I stop by Best Buy, they set up removal and let me know they will call me the day before to set up a removal time. I get a call from the 15 minutes before they arrive at my home, I run out of work and still miss them by 5 minutes. After 4 calls, I get in touch with someone that can contact the driver (it was still in my neighborhood) and was told they have a 'no turn around' policy, that I would have to reschedule and was given the number to the Baltimore dispatch. I call daily for 1 week, leaving messages, with no return call.

I call Best Buy, they tell me to contact the store I had set up the pick up. I call the location for 4 days and cannot get anyone to pick up a phone. I decide to visit the store to arrange the pick up, they tell me they have to schedule two separate service calls, one to disconnect the stove from the gas, the other to remove the range, 'the computer won't let me do it any other way.' I was told to make sure when the technicians called, that the disconnect folks were arriving before the removal guys. I received two automated confirmations, but neither mentioned their purpose. I called both back (from their 'if you have any questions' phone number) but did not reach anyone the entire day. I called the next early morning and found an assistant at the company that called with the morning appointment. They were arriving for pick up and couldn't reschedule to arrive the same day after the 'disconnect guy'. Of course. I'm scared to think of what's next with this expensive paperweight I now own.

The first time it took 2 1/2 weeks to get the repair finished. It was a relay board that had burned. A little over 3 weeks later, the oven stopped working again right in the middle of making a meal. It appears to be the same issue. I am having a service person look at it tomorrow. This range is only 10 months old.

In 2008 we purchased the LG stove and refrigerator. The stove developed cracks. After 3 attempts to send a new replacement top and 3 defective ones sent, Sears replaced the entire stove. Within a month, the new one also developed a what I call crack; the store owner tells me that I am scratching the top. I can run my fingernail across and it catches in these marks; it seems I would have to be putting lots of force to make this happen. I use Farberware stainless steel pans. I wrote to Sears Corporate office about the second one doing the same thing. Nothing was done because the stove has already been replaced once. The marks, scratches that I am being accused of making by the store manager, stress cracks according to me, are now all over the top, even behind the back burners.

In Washington news, an LG stove top exploded, sending me into Sears where I purchased my stove. It has been 4 days and still no reply, I don't expect to hear one and I need help knowing what to do next. Do I hire another repairman out for their opinion? Do I contact a lawyer? The refrigerator we purchased, the "not energy efficient" was posted on this website. I contacted LG through the link, and the following is what I received. LG sent me a check for $13.29 for past energy over usage and a letter that read: "Pursuant to the Uniform Commercial Code, the enclosed check is offered in full satisfaction of any disputed or unliquidated claims as between LG and the payee regarding any aspect of the purchase of use of any LG refrigerator-freezer to which this payment relates.

See U.C.C. 3-311. By endorsing and cashing the enclosed check, the payee forever releases LG and its affiliates, agents and representatives from any claims, whether or not presently known, relating to the sale, labeling or energy efficiency of the LG refrigerator-freezer to which this payment relates."

I did not cash the check for it sounded more of a threat, than we are here to make right what we did wrong. I am sick of LG or any other company that manufacturers faulty products and are not being held accountable and I want to see something done. Who in their right mind would deliberately abuse their stove?

We had someone come out to repair it, the whole computer unit on the stove went out, and it actually corrected itself which is scary, huh? The burner was replaced. Today, within 6 months of the last problem, I heated the oven to 350 and put in a frozen pie for 60 minutes. I began to have a burning smell after 30 minutes, went to check the pie and it was burnt on the outside. I took it out and turned off the oven. It was very hot and set off our fire alarms.

I left it off for 10 minutes and reset it to 350 again. It immediately beeped to say it had pre-heated to that temperature which I thought was odd. I had left the oven door open. I reset it to 400 and it immediately reached the temperature. I set it to 500 and the oven registered 445. The stovetop on this range is poorly designed and dangerous. The front burners are large and you must reach over large kettles/pans to reach the smaller back burners. And the range has been malfunctioning to some degree since we purchased it. I hate it! For several months, we continued to call this repairman and he said the part was on order but LG had not sent it.

Finally, I went to his place of business and spoke to him personally and he said he was no longer the service rep for LG because they would not pay for service calls made or followup with sending parts. This range is 4 years old and of course, like all other complaints, it is no longer under warranty. But like one complaint I read, the oven is flaking coating off, and the flakes are about half the thickness of a piece of paper, very sharp points and edges. This is occurring along the bottom, top , and where the top grate goes in and is supported . I am a retired marine engineer and I can tell you without a doubt it is out and out poor workmanship and quality control. The coating appears to be sprayed onto a base metal box that expands and should not as the ceramic if is ceramic does not, or very little. It also appears that it must have been in coats or uneven to scale as it does. I have photos if anyone out there would like to see.

I bought it at Sears with whom I have an extended maintenance agreement who examined this and another issue I have which I will get to in a moment. Sears says this is cosmetic. Well, my wife has had an operation for diverticulitus. Has any one else with an LG stove that is flaking had to have this sort of medical procedure? I am not sure whether if it started to flake four years ago and a piece of the ceramic passed through your intestine if it could put a pinhole in your intestine that it could manifest itself in 2 years but hey, they don't acknowledge the problem so I'm asking the question.

This also seems to be a worsening condition and neither Sears nor LG Canada have the integrity to deal with replacing what could become major health issue to users of LG Ranges. The other may address the problems of the switches not working or working when they shouldn't and knobs needing replacing. This is poor design. The vent comes out under a raised control panel and when in use and cleaning, the heat from this vent is directly against the bottom of the control panel so relays, capacitors, switches, wires, etc. inside would be subjected to fairly high heat. And if the components are of the same quality as the oven and design of the vent as to were it is placed, I know ours is right under the Electronic circuit board but have had no switching problems but we do have a beautiful brown streak coming out of the vent spreading up over the top of the soft switches on the dash in a V.

The switches are Brown now and the finish is gone where the heat from the vent comes out and heads up towards the switches which feel as though they are getting heat hardened on the surface. I understand GE is making some sort of a deal with LG. This is a bad move on GE's part. If I had stocks in GE, I would sell them if this is so. I mean if all LG products are of this quality they are in serious trouble.

Would you use this oven knowing that sharp shards of ceramic may drop into it? How many cases of intestinal and stomach problems may be caused by this? I can send samples and pictures of these flakes. As for my wife's intestine, it's been burned as medical waste but if people read this perhaps more people will come forward. I would say that the heat against the bottom of the control panel could if there is anything combustible near the outside surface be a fire hazard. I certainly wouldn't leave it on self clean and leave. Economically, the range is about $1500 and I recently retired and can not afford a new one. The anxiety of further problems is maddening but I will not open up this stove until something happens and I have a witness to my findings.

About three weeks ago I got the same F1 error code again on the front part of the unit. LG will not replace the range or the part. I have to purchase a $125.00 part again for an electric range that was just three years old. They will not do anything for me because I did not purchase an extended warranty. As far as I am concerned, LG does not stand behind their product and has no concern for their consumers once the product leaves whatever store that the poor sap purchases it from. I can not afford to buy a $125.00 part for my stove every 6 or 8 months. You would think that a $800.00 product would last more than just 3 years.

I bought a kitchen range from LG at Best Buy. I have owned this range for 3 years. In these 3 years, I have had to deal with it breaking twice. All I had was disappointment when using this product. Last week, the range broke again. And by broke, I mean it's dead. Dead dead. Now I don't have warranty from anybody, and I don't believe the average range only lasts for 3 years.

My business involves the sale of Kitchen Cabinets, and it is also to recommend Kitchen appliances to my customers, and they expect a good suggestion for something they paid good money for. After this experience I will never, ever recommend LG to anyone! A customer with no hopes. That's all I gotta say.

We have had the convection fan replaced once and am I logging a service call for vibrating fan again tomorrow. The oven vent melts the paint off the control panel enclosure. Once the customer service representative did say that there was an upgrade to the unit paid for by LG. Upon follow up, she denied this and said that my extended warranty through Leon's would be paying for it. Leon's had no record whatsoever. I would never buy LG again. Be warned.

The LG gas range I purchased this past April '09 has poorly designed control knobs that crack and break. 4 out of 5 are broken. I tried to set up a service appointment online. After typing in the problem, the site will not send the info. I went to a chat session. The person said it was under warranty but I had to call in for service. The number was wrong, it was "electronics" and I was transferred to "Home Appliances". A person with broken English finally answered but "Carlos" couldn't hear me due to crackling on the phone and hung up. I tried a second time, a different person with broken English could not hear me. I gave up. I can't afford to do this on my lunch break over and over. I feel I have made a big mistake purchasing this appliance.

1-800-626-2001 is a number that I have come to know by heart, not by choice! You may recognize the number as the number for Customer Service for LG Appliances. We purchased our dream LG appliances - refrigerator, stove, microwave and dishwasher - for close to $8000 back in February 2008 from Bernie's in Waterbury CT and have nothing but trouble ever since! After doing what we thought was research in reference to company and integrity, we found LG was announcing a Cross Licensing Agreement with GE. What better company, GE is a household name that has a lot of history in the United States and one that stands behind their products. GE happens to also be one of the biggest players in the wind power industry that is up and coming.

This information meant a lot to my fiance and me as far as energy conservation goes. We had read a quote by Young Ha Lee, the President and CEO of LG Electronics and Digital Appliance Company. He stated that the licensing agreement would enhance the ability to deliver winning products and move the company further toward the goal of becoming one of the top global brands in consumer electronics and home appliances. This could not be further from the truth as far as we are concerned. We have had a number of service calls on our stove and have had many parts replaced, only to have the stove still not work! I came home only yesterday to find the freezer had flooded my kitchen floor in solid ice chunks. That is a whole different letter so let us only concentrate on the stove, the reason I am writing this letter to begin with.

After the trouble we had, we decided to research complaints on LG appliances to see if we were the only ones out there experiencing these problems. I thought, after all, that since my fiance was a contractor and had some experience in buying quality products for people's homes and referring a number of his clients to Home Depot to purchase the LG products that we had made the right decision when it came time for us to buy new home appliances. We were sadly mistaken, and are extremely disappointed! Needless to say, with the purchase of our second house finalized, we will not be purchasing LG products to furnish it with nor will my fiance be referring clients from his contracting business to purchase any LG products!

In these economic times, you would expect a company like LG to deliver quality items to ensure that customers return. As I stated above, my fiance and I researched the complaints and found that it was not only us experiencing such trouble. Below you will find a number of comments made In reference to LG products. The reputation of LG is on the decline. I only hope that GE is not involved in this. “Life is not good with LG! Oh how sorry I am that I didn't read the negative comments first! Please, please, please, avoid purchasing LG appliances! LG is junk! I should have stuck with American brands! LG should be placed under investigation for defrauding customers! Sid Miller no longer carries LG due to customer complaints! LG sold us a defective machine and is not an honorable company! Whatever you do, do not buy LG! LG is putting out poor quality and not covering warranties!”

I could go on for hours with the extensive number of complaints found online. I will however stop here and say that if we do end up getting the stove replaced at this point, it has been such a hassle. We both work over an hour from our house, and as you can imagine, it has not been easy getting to our house to let the service guys in not once, but 5 times. I have had to take PTO from work to make it to the house for the designated service calls. Not to mention, the meals my fiance and I have had to pay for to be able to eat. Eating out or having to schlep meals to my mother's to cook has been a complete nightmare! The straw that broke the camel's back came on Christmas Eve when finally the stove was said to be fixed. We invited family to our house for 7 Fishes, a family and religious tradition. The oven decided that once again, it was not going to work. So with 15 people at our house and over 150 dollars worth of fish to be cooked, what were we to do? It took over 5 hours to cook (and still wasn't done right) on convection oven with the temperature saying 500 degrees.

Needless to say, Christmas Eve was a disaster and my family went home hungry. We may as well have thrown $150 into the garbage because that is where all the fish went! We did not appreciate spending our hard-earned money on the stove to have it fail us. I thought that my fiance and I had been reasonable when dealing with all of the service calls and time taken off work. I feel that we have been more than understanding. The problem is that at this point, I feel from my gathered information that I would like to receive a refund on this disastrous purchase or to be authorized to purchase a different more reliable brand. I do not want another LG product since LG doesn't stand behind their products. The LG appliances look very good, almost commercial grade, a great addition to your kitchen so long as you don't have to use them. Not only are they dangerous with the turning on and off by themselves, but are the most unreliable pieces of equipment available. I will make sure via word of mouth that none of my close friends, family, and/or co-workers make a purchase from LG in the future!

I called Home Depot where I purchased the appliances and they referred me to the manufacturer who was no help. They said that the knobs were not covered under the warranty and I would need to purchase new knobs at $50 apiece. I purchased an LG gas stove (mod# LRG 30855 ST) and LG refrigerator (LFX2597 1ST) from Home Depot in Virginia Beach on 6/29/08. As of today, none of the gas control knobs on the stove function properly. All of the plastic inserts are cracked at the hub, the foil covers have mostly wrinkled off, and two of the knobs actually look as if they have melted. I called LG to discuss my concerns and was told that my warranty has expired and that I need to buy the five replacement parts at $71.88 + tax each. I stated that I spent over $1,700 for the stove only 16 months ago and that it would be unfair to have to now spend $375 for replacement parts that were obviously defective.

I requested through the LG website and the telephone, and through Home Depot, that I be contacted by a factory representative. I strongly feel that someone at LG needs to take a look at the product that the company put out there and make good, not take advantage. Regarding the refrigerator, the LED light, that we were told would last for over five years, has already burned out, and the ice maker has been a problem since day one (we have had service under warranty on it more than once). Is there something that you can do to encourage LG to respond to, and be fair with their customers? Consequences: cost of the appliances 16 months ago: stove, $1,709.10; and refrigerator, $2,249.10.

In November 2007 I purchased an LG range from Pat Goff's. Three months later I started having problems with it (periodically). Sometimes some of the burners wouldn't come on; sometimes it was the oven and sometimes nothing. Around June 2008 it was happening quite often. I called LG (Pat Goff no longer had a repair tech to service it). I asked at that time for a refund or replacement. I was told they couldn't do that. They had to try to fix it first. I asked what if it happens again. My warranty will have expired. I was told they would take care of me to my satisfaction. It wasn't until December 1, 2008 that it was finally fixed. Well, lo and behold: three months later it starts again (same as previous year). Only this time my oven continues to work, but now I have to unplug the range to turn the oven off. I only have two small burners to cook on (neither of the large burners work). I told the tech from the beginning that the convection wasn't working properly either (it took longer to bake and now makes noise). He never checked it.

In August 2009 a part was replaced (first time 2 parts were replaced). Two weeks later I have problems again. Again, I called. I was given authorization for repair again. The service tech was to come out. He called me mid morning on the day he was to come and said he didn't need to come. He said he thinks it needs the other part. Two weeks later I called him to find out if he has any word on the part and he told me I have to order it. I told him that he needed to. So, finally, on the 29th of September he orders it. I was told it was on back order and would be in November 11. Then I was told by the end of October, then the third week of November, and then they have no ETA and now I am told December 23.

On September 23, 2009 I was told I wouldn't have to go one more day with a stove that didn't work properly; then I'm told if it wasn't repaired by October 2, 2009, they would review my case. It wasn't repaired and the part had not arrived to the service center yet. On October 2, 2009 I'm told I have to wait for the part because all they can do is service my range because it is under an extended warranty. Today I called for their address and I'm told they will review my case again. I don't believe they will do anything. I told them I want my money back or to be authorized to by any brand range I select. I don't want another LG product because LG doesn't stand behind their products, they don't care about their customer and also there is only one service center in town authorized to service their product (through them) and I don't want them in my house again. The service tech is rude and doesn't communicate with his customer to let them know what is going on.

LG Range model #LRE30451SB/03: My husband and I purchased a brand new set of LG appliances from Best Buy in 03/2008. Approximately one and a half years later, I used the self-cleaner on my oven. This was the first time I had ever used the self-cleaning option because I was usually able to wipe out any food or debris. I only ran the self clean for 2 hrs, you can run it for 4hrs, but it was late and I didn't want to stay up waiting for it to finish. The very next morning, I noticed that my control panel was flashing a code that read F-1 as if the power had gone out, but our power hadn't been off.

I looked in the owner's manual and it stated that an F-1 code meant shorted keypad, and it suggested that you unplug the stove. I tried to reset the controls by flipping the breaker but that did not work. The code just simply reappeared. I called LG Customer Service and they told me that the range was no longer under warranty for that specific problem. I then called a local repairman who came and charged me a $55 service call only to tell me what I already knew - that the keypad had shorted. He said I would need to buy a new keypad assembly.

So I called LG Customer Service back and they gave me a # to call for parts. I called the # they gave me and ordered the part ($247.72). They stated the part was not in stock and that it would take several weeks for them to get it and ship it to me. Several weeks passed and I still hadn't received the part, so I called the parts department back to check the status of my part. To my disbelief, they told me that the part was no longer available and that I hadn't been charged for the part. I told the lady I had been given a confirmation # and that they had taken all of my credit card info. She said yes, that she could, she had that on my account but that I was not actually charged.

The good news is that after reviewing my bank statement, I hadn't been charged, but at the same time, I had been waiting 3 weeks for a part that wasn't coming. I asked the lady why no one had called me to let me know that the part was no longer available and all she could say was that she didn't know. So I called LG back, and yes, it was true the replacement part was no longer available for my stove that wasn't even 2 years old. I was extremely upset by this time, so I told customer service that something had better be done to get my stove working or get me a new one. The man in Customer Service told me if I would fax him a copy of my Best Buy receipt he would give it to his supervisor and see if a replacement could be issued.

So as asked, I faxed my receipt along with a letter stating my information. However, most of the print on the receipt had faded away, I guess just from being folded away. So I received a call back from LG stating that the receipt was illegible. I offered to read off any #'s from the receipt that they might need but this was still not acceptable. They said in order to help me, they would need to see an actual copy of the receipt. So I drove an hour away to the closest Best Buy for a duplicate receipt, which I faxed to them today. I then tried calling them to make sure they had received a fax of the duplicate receipt, but they said it would take up to 48 hrs for it to show up in the computer system. So for now, I am waiting to hear back from them and hoping that they do the right thing and replace my range. Needless to say, I will never buy another LG product again.

We bought all LG appliances for our new home. We have already gone through 3 microwaves, 2 dishwashers and 2 refrigerators, all with manufacturing defects. We moved into our home on April 30, 2008. I am 63 yrs of age and have been cooking for 43 yrs. I know how to use a range. However, after 15 months of washing my LG oven after each use (I have never had to use the cleaning cycle), I noticed that during cooking one evening, the bottom of the oven floor was cracking and chipping. In my panic to protect my food (I had company for dinner), I put heavy duty foil on the bottom.

The next day, I noticed the foil melted into the bottom of the oven. I called LG with the initial problem of cracking and told them that I put foil to protect myself and my food. I was given a complaint number and told to call the local LG Appliance service man. It was checked out, recorded as defective oven floor and deemed unrepairable. When I called LG again, I was told it was a manufacturing defect and the range would be replaced.

A few weeks later, we did not hear from LG so I called again. This time, I was told that the warranty would not be covered because I put foil in the bottom of the oven. I am not concerned about the foil on the oven floor. I am concerned with the initial problem of cracking and chipping on the oven floor. I already cut my finger because of this problem. It is now impossible to wash the bottom of the oven by hand or trying to protect my food from this flaking of the oven material. The supervisor then told me that it would not be replaced. They just keep repeating about the warranty. However, I do believe the warranty is already off and the problem of the defect should be addressed.

The aforementioned electric range is inoperative. The range has an F-1 code and the needed part is not expected to be in until October 14, 2009. This consumer moved into a new home in March 2008, whereas the builder purchased the electric range in the consumer's home and the consumer paid for the upgraded model, which was placed in the consumers home in March 2008.

The electric range started having problems in June 2009 and a service call was placed for the range. The range was found to have a faulty part, which needed to be replaced. The consumer spoke with Bryant (service representative) on August 7, 2009, about 3:11 PM. Bryant stated that the part would be in sometime around the end of August 2009. The consumer requested to speak to a supervisor - eventually spoke with Natasha ** (supervisor), who did nothing to assist the consumer. She only apologized for the back ordered status on the part and stated nothing else could be done.

The consumer requested an exact date for the back ordered part and was told (this time) the part would be in on October 14, 2009. The consumer requested the LG corporate office telephone number and address and was denied the telephone number and given an address in Huntsville, Alabama. The consumer requested to speak with the supervisor, but was denied the opportunity and placed through to a voice mail system to leave a message. The consumer called back to LG to voice a complaint. The consumer spoke with Renee who took the consumers complaint and said someone would call back within 24 hours of receiving the message.

I purchased an LG Range Model LRE30955ST at Best Buy on 2/28/2009 along with the French Door refrigerator. Both appliances were delivered several days later and seem in perfect working order. Within several days, the range started having small issues; touching the electronic control pad would not generate a response for things like turning on the oven light, the warming drawer would turn itself off on its own, and every once in a while the oven (during preheating cycle) would sound an alarm and show a "Heating Error" on the control panel. I had to turn the oven off and then reset it in order to get the oven to preheat. It’s a minor annoyance, but workable.

Then in April, less than 6 weeks after purchase, the oven decided to start run-away heating. I had cooked dinner, pressed the “Off” button and sat down at the table to eat dinner. During dinner, I noticed a slight burning smell (there was a pizza stone on the top rack) and looked at the oven. The convection fans in the rear of the oven, which I could see through the glass doors from the dining room table, were glowing red. I went into the kitchen, opened the oven door, and was blasted with tremendous heat from the oven, even though the control panel was off. I pressed the off button. I tried setting the oven and then hitting off, neither worked to stop the oven elements from staying on. In order to stop the oven from continuing to heat, I had to throw the breaker in the fuse box on the wall for the range.

I immediately called LG Customer Service, who then arranged for a repair company to come to the house and check the oven. After discussing the issues the oven was having with the repair person, he called LG Technical Support and they decided to replace all three controller boards in the oven. The parts had to be ordered and I had no range to work with for a full 5 days from the date of the original incident. The boards were replaced on April 18th, 2009.

On Saturday, June 13, 2009 (again less than 8 weeks after the first repair and less than 15 weeks after original purchase), it happened again. I preheated the oven, placed a cinnamon loaf in the oven to cook, and took the dogs outside for a bathroom break while dessert was cooking. When I returned, there was a burning cinnamon bread smell in the house. I looked toward the oven. The loaf inside was completely blackened and the convection fans were again glowing red. I removed the loaf (again, lots of heat coming out of the oven) and hit the off button. The loaf was completely blackened on the outside, uncooked at all on the inside and the elements in the oven again did not respond to hitting the off button on the control panel (the panel itself did go dim as it normally does when the oven is off, but the elements stayed powered). I threw the breaker again and within a minute, the convection fans started to cool down. I immediately called LG Customer Service again. I was told that they would have to send a repairman again and neither of the two companies in my area that are authorized repair people was available for approximately a week. That didn't sit well either.

The next morning, I received a call from one of the two repair companies. They in fact did have an opening to be able to come to look at the oven. I described the issues to them as well (different company from the first repair). They immediately called Tech Support (Bill) and the support group at LG immediately told them to replace the Relay Controller Board and gave the repair person a Part Number. The repair person then reiterated to Tech Support that the board replacement had already been done in April and it was failing again. Tech Support still insisted on a board replacement.

After he got off the call with Tech Support and told me they were going to replace the controller board again, I told him this was a dangerous situation, a fire hazard, and that throwing the same part at the oven again as was done in April was not an acceptable approach. I also said that at this point, and based on the amount of heat, I couldn't be sure that there hasn't been wiring insulation, oven cavity insulation, or element damage done by the oven itself that would shorten the overall life of the oven. Unfortunately, his hands were tied.

Later that evening, the repair company called me to confirm whether my range was Electric or Gas. I said it was electric and confirmed the model number for them. They said the part number given to them by Tech Support comes up as being for a Gas Range and there was no similar part in the system for an electric range. I called Customer Service at LG again at this point to complain about this. Their response was that the part applied to both the Electric and Gas ranges, which I find suspect since you would think an authorized repair person could find the part for an electric range if that was the case and one existed.

The next morning, I called LG Customer Service and asked to be connected to the Escalation Department. I described the hazard involved in an oven that uncontrollably heats itself and does not respond to the “Off” button being pressed and that the repair was already done in April that was supposed to correct this issue. Her response was to tell me this oven wouldn't qualify for anything but another repair and then put me on hold for 3-4 minutes. When she returned, she said that she tried to do additional research to find information on this particular problem, and found none, but the oven would still only qualify for a repair since there's been no damage. I then asked "Are you saying my house has to burn down in order for you to replace my oven?" "That's not what I'm saying, sir!" she said. I specifically said if the oven elements weren't working or if the convection fans didn't spin or the clock didn't keep good time, and then I could agree another repair would be fine. But in the case where an oven uncontrollably heats and does not turn off without throwing the breaker is a fire hazard. Not only could there be damage to the oven and surrounding cabinets, but a fire could result or even bodily injury of someone trying to remove food that might catch on fire from an oven that's heating up that much. I asked her specifically what policy she was relying on that said a run-away heating oven only qualified for a repair and she said that the LG Policy is when an appliance has to undergo 3 major repairs, it then qualifies for a replacement. I told her if I suffer property damage, a fire or injury to a guest in my home as a result of this oven, the next time I contact them will be through an attorney. She asked me to have a nice day!

I consider it completely irresponsible when a global corporation is willing to risk the property and potentially the lives of their patrons in this way. Beyond the short-sightedness of this company, what annoys me is that this is the 5th LG appliance I've bought in the last year and a half (dishwasher, washer, dryer, fridge, and oven) as all of my appliances were old and I had heard such good things about LG. After this, I won't make the same mistake again of buying anything from LG that I don't also buy an extended/premium store warranty for, if I ever buy another LG product again at all. It appears that I'm going to have to simply keep very close eye on this expensive appliance going forward to make sure nothing happens with it as far as destroying my house. If nothing else, perhaps other consumers in the market for purchasing appliances will read this and get something out of it. Have you seen the GE and Whirlpool appliance lines?

When the range cooled down, I was wiping out the ash in the interior oven with a paper towel. Pieces of ceramic were coming off the interior sides. They were sharp and jagged. If these were to fall into food cooking in the oven, it would pose a definite health hazard.

I have called Home Depot, the extended warranty people (which is a div. of GE) and LG several times in order to get this resolved. I have been bounced around to a different customer service person every time I call. No one ever calls you back although they say they will within 24 to 48 hours. An appliance service rep of their choosing has looked at it and deemed it a manufacturing defect but I still have not received an approval for either a refund or a replacement. The last person I spoke to was Carla, a supervisor at LG who gave me her direct number. If I do not receive a call back from her by Monday afternoon (5/11/09) as promised, I would like to proceed with a claim.

Also, the light on the stove panel was real dim so I called for service. However, the repairman won't come out on the same problem because they only pay once for a repair. I called another serviceman and he said that he will not service LG products. Now, the light on the range is so dim you can't read the clock at night, let alone daylight. This complaint concerns an LG Model LRG30855ST gas range. Specifically, during the course of cooking, oil spilled on one of the burner heads and caked on. The user's guide directed the user to soak burner heads in a solution of mild liquid detergent and hot water for 20-30 minutes and to use a toothbrush for stubborn stains. The guide specifically notes: Do not use steel wool or scouring powders to clean the burners. Concerning other components, such as the cooking grates, the manual specifically calls for soaking in ammonia.

When my burner did not come clean with the liquid detergent and hot water mixture, I added a small amount of bleach. A few minutes in this mixture caused the burners surface coating to dissolve, making it unusable. LG refuses to replace the burner head suggesting that I have misused their product. Bleach is a common ingredient in many household cleaning products. It is not foreseeable by a consumer that bleach would dissolve a part for a kitchen range.

However, if, in fact, LG was aware that bleach could damage their product, then they had a duty to warn the consumer in just the same manner that they warned against using steel wool. Moreover, it was foreseeable to LG that consumers would use ordinary cleaning products that contained bleach. It must be stressed that this concerns the burner of a range which undergoes high temperatures and assorted product spills; i.e., we are not talking sensitive materials like the fabric on a couch. LG needs to take responsibility for this design defect, and also to prevent similar circumstances from happening in the future.

They sent me a check for $17, modified it, and will send me checks for the next 14 years to supplement the energy usage. As for my $2,000 stove, I rarely cook so when I do, it would be nice if it worked. I turn on the oven and every 10 degrees or every 10 minutes, it shuts off. Same with the cooktop. LG came and replaced the motherboard. Same problem again. LG came a second time and said that's the only thing that they could do. I'm waiting to hear back from someone today. LG appliances look very good, almost commercial grade. It's a great addition to your kitchen as long as you don't have to use them.

I called LG regarding a problem with an electric range I purchased in 2/2008. It was a model LRE30451SB and has a black glass cook top. In early March 2009, I noticed a section of the cook top turning white. I tried cleaning, but the discoloration was in the glass, not on the surface. At first, I made calls to Customer Service and kept getting a recording of heavy call volume and put on hold forever. I began emailing and explained my problem. I kept being told it was not a defect, that was without anyone even seeing my unit. They also told me to call CS, but I repeated that I couldn't get through.

When I finally talked with someone, I was given an authorized service provider who never returned calls. I called another repair company they gave me, but they didn't service my area. Finally, I got the original company who stated they didn't service my area either. With no authorized service providers available, LG insisted they would not take any report from anyone other than an authorized LG provider - I couldn't get one! Finally, I agreed to pay extra for one to come out. LG still says the discoloration is not a defect without anyone seeing it. They even tell me that if you leave spills/food on the cook top (which I do not), the glass heats and food will become merged with the glass. It sounds crazy to me. Not only is the product a huge disappointment, but the service from LG is deplorable and that's reason enough to never purchase an LG product again. There is no support and no service.

We purchased the LG electric stove Model # LRE 30451SB in Oct. 2007. In Nov./Dec. 2008, the oven would not maintain temperature. We changed the thermostat and control board on Mar. 7, 2009. It worked fine until April 16, 2009 when we self-cleaned the oven. The control board went haywire. We can't broil, use convection oven, use numbers 2 & 7 on the keypad, set clock. The heat from self-cleaning is so hot and close to the control board that it must have damaged the board. Damages are: the cost of the stove - $647.19, sales tax - $54.20, thermostat - $20.00, control board - $136.20 for a grand total of $857.59, not to memtion labor, delivery and restaurant meals. This stove should be recalled.

We too purchased an LG range and since the day that we got it, it has never cooked, say, a frozen pizza in a decent amount of time. It takes over 25 minutes, way longer than it should. We have replaced the control board once and will probably now have to replace it again. I will be calling Best Buy to get a service person out here. This totally stinks due to the fact that we paid good money for this range and it matches all of our other appliances.

I purchased an LG Range Model LRE30955ST and an LG Refrigerator (French door, drawer freezer) Model LFX25960ST on Jan. 13, 2008 from Home Depot.

The large 3-ring burner started going out in September 08 (small inside element went out). I can't really determine the exact date that it went out before it was first noticed, because as most people would do, I place a pot on the burner before turning the burner on. I didn't see the inside burner not working because the pot covered it entirely. The only element visible is the outside element while cooking. I did, however, notice that food cooked on that burner took a little longer than before. When I discovered the malfunctioning burner, I immediately called the LG service center to schedule repair or replacement of the burner. To shorten my complaint, after repeated documented calls to LG, I was informed that a repairman could not be located in my area and I was offered a replacement unit or a refund. (It took months of calls before we got to that point!)

I bought the range on sale, with an added rebate, and I would not be able to purchase an exact replacement with the refund I was promised. I requested a replacement range. At the time of purchase, I had a kitchen remodel budget to work with. With this budget in mind, I purchased the range when it was on sale, at the Home Depot advertised price. I reasoned that I paid the price that LG and Home Depot asked and I shouldn't be penalized for buying a product on sale. At the time of purchase I would have cut back on something else in the remodel process to purchase this range if it had not been on sale.

Unfortunately, I was informed that a replacement range could not be located in any of their warehouses. A downgrade range was offered again. Again, I explained that I could have initially purchased a downgrade for $500 less than I paid for their top of the line model and I wanted a replacement of the product I purchased, not a downgrade.

After many, many calls to LG without success, I called Home Depot, and a call to LG was graciously placed on my behalf. Amazingly, later that afternoon, I received the first return call from LG! Unbelievably, they located a replacement stove. It was delivered on December 30, 2008, less than two weeks after my call to Home Depot! The replacement range worked perfectly until last week. The oven shuts off before it heats to the programmed temp. Both convection and regular heat shut down during the preheat time and a heat error is displayed. Occasionally, it will shut off during baking.

Is it surprising that I am reluctant to call Home Depot for repair? The manufacturer's one year warranty has expired by one month and we are now in Home Depot's warranty period. Home Depot was extremely helpful when the problem was initially reported to them. Their expeditor went above and beyond her duty to help us with this problem. I only wish now that I had the foresight to take the refund when it was offered and purchase a range from a different manufacturer.

Now, on to the LG refrigerator I purchased! I have learned that the LG Refrigerator (French door with a drawer freezer) Model LFX25960ST had a posted energy rating that was lower than the DOE's (Department of Energy) rating. I received a letter from LG on 12/20/08 informing me that due to the DOE's energy testing, LG had to change the energy rating on this model, along with others. The energy usage is higher than it was labeled to be. This letter informed me that someone would call me to schedule a date to modify the refrigerator by adding a part to make it more energy efficient.

I did not receive that promised call. I called the toll-free number listed and was assured that I would receive a call from a repairman and a date to service my refrigerator within 24-48 hours. I never received that call either. On 1/28/09, after a month of waiting for a return call, I called back. I was informed that the modification parts were back ordered and I would be contacted as soon as the parts were in. Today is February 23, 2009; I will again call the toll-free number to attempt to schedule a repairman.

NOTE: LG did send a $33.00 check to cover the energy cost difference. LG is providing this one-time cash payment to cover the energy difference, calculated from the date of purchase until November 14, 2008, between the energy usage of your refrigerator measured pursuant to DOE's new guidance for the product and the amount listed on the original Energy Guide label at the time you purchased the refrigerator.

Will I ever purchase another LG product? Not in this lifetime. I will politely inform anyone who is the market for any appliance of my concerns; hopefully, my experience with LG will help a potential customer make a better decision than I did on purchasing an LG appliance.

Now, the thing is acting up again; the oven won’t work and the large burner. One cannot control the oven heat when it does work. When we first purchased the thing, we asked if we could not get another stove, but they did nothing or would not. The first problem was the paint, where the oven vents, peeled off due to the fact they did not use high heat paint where the oven vents. Then the oven temperature began to fluctuate, where you have to watch whatever you are cooking very closely. Then the door started to fall apart. Finally the control panel is messing up, sometimes not allowing adjustment of the heat, sometimes not allowing you to turn burners and oven on and off. Life's Good - ya for the ones that are taking our money and giving us junk. Home Depot doesn't want to help and I just get the runaround at LG, no return calls, etc.

In Feb. ‘08, an entire panel control was installed. LG's response to my concern about this stove was to extend my warranty by three months.

The next day, I had it on 350 degrees cooking a casserole that was supposed to be for 30 to 45 minutes. I smelled smoke after 15 minutes and looked inside and the casserole was completely burnt. I purchased the LG range model #LRE30955ST on June 27, 2008 from Appliance Direct, Merritt Island, FL. Within 1 week, the left front burner turned itself off after 2 minutes. I called LG. A service technician was sent out and 2 parts were ordered. The technician returned within 1 week to replace the burner elements and a computer board. The problem worsened, now my oven would shut off during baking. Another part was ordered. The technician returned with parts that were incomplete that were ordered directly from LG.

The service technician phoned LG technical support from our home and was told that some of the parts were incomplete and that a new part would be sent out. So now I am on my 3rd service call. After 7 more visits to my home over a span of 4 months, the range was finally deemed unrepairable - it basically took an act of congress to do so. So, a swap out range came. It was brand new from the same Appliance store I purchased the first one from. And to no avail, the same problem started as soon as it was plugged in. So now I am going through the same laborious process to get this range removed from my home.

It's Thanksgiving in 2 days and I am down to using only 2 burners. When the service technician came out (keep in mind this is now my 13th visit from a technician for 2 different LG ranges), he called LG technical support. The very unfriendly man named Charlie was completely unsympathetic to my need for a stove for the holidays. He wanted to replace another part! I couldn't believe it because last week the service technician and myself were told that the stove would be deemed unrepairable if this part wouldn't solve the problem. The technician left and I got on the phone with an LG customer service supervisor named Adrian. Basically I told her I wanted my money back. We are waiting until next week to have another part installed and then I am to call them back. She said she would document it in the computer that I will be requesting a refund.

I am skeptical considering it took 4 months to get a swap from my appliance store. So, since October 19 when the second stove arrived, I have been dealing with the same problems and getting nowhere with LG. This has been a long process and numerous hours of my time spent waiting for service technicians - don't forget when they come next week it will be my 14th service call since June 27th. I would like to request my purchase price, and then extended warranty price due to all the problems and time I have spent waiting for answers and repairs that will never make this range work again.

Unfortunately, they have now decided that this range is "discontinued". I believe it is LG's way of "recalling" a horrible stove. They are lucky that the burners turn themselves off and not on. Although when I travel out of town, I will turn my circuit breaker off to the range, just in case it decides to malfunction. I have zero confidence left with LG products and strongly advise others to beware.

On 6/1/08, I purchased an LG LRE30955ST which was delivered on 6/10. On 6/28, I called LG Customer Service and advised them of the problem and requested a repair. I told them that after using the range for a short time, the range automatically went into Oven Lockout locking the oven door and disabling the burners - and trapped a turkey breast in the oven. I even told the CS rep that I suspected the problem was a circuit board. The (contracted - they don't have their own) repair person showed up without the circuit board; looked at the range; said it's a bad circuit board and said they'd have to order it and didn't know how long that would take.

When I hadn't heard anything, I called LG again and was told the part would be sent to the repair people and it would take a couple of days. I asked why they couldn't send the part overnight and was told (get this) Because of security since 9/11, they couldn't send electronic components overnight. I told them that was [false] since I had just ordered and received an entire computer from Dell. I asked to speak to a supervisor - who wouldn't get on the line, but would call back within 1/2 hour. No call - of course.

I called a couple of hours later and was told the supervisor left for the day. The second supervisor gave me the same story - security. . .9/11 and that I'd just have to wait until they located the part WHICH IS NO LONGER BEING MANUFACTURED (it's a new model and the Serial number tag says it was manufacturered in January 2008 - not some left over dent and ding special - it cost $2000) - there's got to be a law that requires manufacturers to make replacement parts available.

I went through the same response (Dell computer) and told them we are in the Automobile Extended warranty business and that our companies ship engines and transmissions overnight all the time and that if our companies handled claims the way LG does, that both we and the companies would be out of business. I went to the LG website and sent an email describing my problems to their Contact Us address. The following day I received an email back saying that they were trying to locate the part. Later that day, I received a second email telling me to disregard the previous email and that I needed to fax a copy of my receipt to them and that they were going to replace the range. I faxed the receipt and sent a return email saying that I had faxed them.

When I hadn't gotten a response, I called again and spent an hour on the phone - mostly on hold while they tried to track down my fax and that the person I had sent them to wasn't in. I faxed them again to their team leader who told me he had them and would sent them to their Replacement dept for authorization and in a couple of days, they would forward the replacement authorization on to Best Buy who would then contact me in a couple more days to arrange the replacement.

Since I've already gone without a working range for 16 days that a couple more days with them and a couple more with Best Buy wasn't acceptable. I asked for a supervisor - who got on the line and gave me the same old BS - that there was nothing they could do to expedite the replacement. The supervisor then told me that the authorization for replacement had been approved and that it would be sent to Best Buy Corporate and I'd have to wait to be contacted by them. Fortunately, within a half hour of hanging up from LG, a young lady from Best Buy called with the authorization number and all I needed to do was contact the store and arrange for the delivery and pick up. I called the store and am now waiting for a call back about the delivery.

I eventually was able to get the turkey breast out of the oven and finished cooking it on our grill. It turned out like shoe leather. For 16 days now, we've had to eat out or order in our dinners. I spent HOURS on the phone - mostly on hold - with my blood pressure soaring each time I had to hear their recording telling me how much they appreciated my patience and that they understand that my time is valuable. HA! I'd return the oven and get something else but I also purchased a matching microwave and it's already installed.
