Haven't even had this microwave for 2 years and the clock is already broken, light stopped working inside and it was a expensive microwave to buy. Should have stuck with the one I originally had. Was cheap but never had an issue with it.
We purchased this microwave in 2018, along with the matching refrigerator, dishwasher, and double oven. Spent a small fortune to buy them for our new kitchen. Our kitchen remodel was delayed so the microwave wasn’t opened until just recently. It was opened and installed professionally. During its first use I could hear what sounded like a fan, come to a grinding halt. We called LG and were told that because it’s out of warranty we would have to take it to an authorized repair shop (but would most likely have to pay for the repair ourselves). The nearest shop is about an hour away, and that’s after we take it down from the wall/cabinets. Then we are expected to reinstall it. I’m beyond overwhelmed and deeply disappointed.

Our microwave is 2 years old and has a “10 year “ warranty. It has just stopped working. First it would only turn on for a few seconds. Now it turns on and does not heat. The special Smart Sensor service was only available from 8 to 4 Mon to Friday. When I reached them they basically got me to plug and unplug the microwave and to heat a cup of water. Next, I was told that I would have to transport it to a service center and pay all labor costs. They cannot tell you the hourly rate. The service rep also noted that only some parts are covered. I said no thanks and that I would write this disappointing review. I do not recommend LG microwaves as my previous ones from other brands lasted more than a decade and this one 2 years.

We have had our LG Microwave for about 2 years, but today it started on fire when I went to re-heat up two slices of pre-cooked bacon. Pretty much as soon as it started, the right side wall started on fire! We opened the door and unplugged it. We are very disappointed with the quality of this microwave, model LMC0975ST. We have purchased two LG refrigerators for homes, two LG televisions and they have all been great, but not the LG microwave. I know this is a new technology, "Smart Inverter," LG has claimed to put into these microwaves, so I can only speculate as to whether or not this had anything to do with the fire.

My daughter used a microwave-safe bowl to melt chocolate in my LMC0975 LG microwave. Two seconds after she pressed Start, the interior wall of the oven caught on fire. She immediately shut the microwave oven off and unplugged it. She is staying at my place while I am away. I told her to call LG. She was told by a rep that because the warranty has expired, she has to pay someone to come and see if the issue is the magnetron, which has a 10-year warranty, or take the oven into a repair centre. This is not possible due to Corona, and I don't think we should have to pay to have it checked. This seems like a fire hazard, and I am surprised they had no other support available and did not seem to think their product catching fire was something of great concern. I would like LG to detail how they will take care of this issue for me.

LG stepped up to the plate and authorized a 1-time courtesy repair. Service Technician came to the house and replaced the control module. Microwave is now working as expected. All in all we love it, even the goofy music.
Purchased this LG LMC0975ST Microwave in January 2018. One of the segments of the LCD Time/Clock Display has gone bad. Yes, it's out of warranty, but the display is a component that should last for many years.

Update: LG arranged for service free of charge. The technician did a good job and it's working as expected.
We bought microwave a little over a year ago. Model: LMHM2237ST. This is an expensive microwave costs around $500. We were remodeling kitchen and decided to buy the best hoping it will last longer. After a year of use the display stopped working - timer doesn't work, shows wrong time, goes blank sometimes etc etc. We are a small family of 3 adults. Used as instructed. Very disappointed.

Updated on 07/29/2020: LG response with a classic, there are not the way they treat a customer. The same for everyone because I read other reviews (too late for me, I already bought the oven). The reviews were mixed, but not good enough.
Original Review: I bought it on March 2018, and is not working. No heat. I call customer service saying I think is the magnetron. It has a 10 year warranty. They say I need to call an LG technician. I didn’t buy the extended warranty because it was too expensive. So, I need to pay the labor. So it not worth it. I will not buying an LG microwave again.

I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND LG PRODUCTS TO ANYONE EVER AGAIN. Within 2 years of purchase the handle of our microwave broke right off from natural wear and tear. When it fell off it also bent the metal piece from the cover. Now we have to open our microwave from the bottom and risk cutting our fingers each time we do. Appliances today are not made like they were back in the 80s.

UPDATED ON 1/20/2021: We contacted LG about the problem that we experienced but to no avail. Even though their instruction booklet told us how to cook bacon (which we followed) the microwave caught fire. Apparently there was a problem with the unit. After going back and forth with them about this problem they finally e-mailed us a letter stating they would reimburse us the amount of money we spent for the microwave. The only thing that was required was that we purchase a new LG microwave, which we did.
We had to send them copies of the purchase receipts from both microwaves and the labels off the old one, which we did in order to get the refund. We were then instructed to dispose of the old microwave. Unfortunately they did not hold up to their promise. After many calls on our part with promises of them getting back to us, with what appears no intentions of doing so. Now they are telling us that we were the cause of the problem, and will not refund our money even though they sent us the letter telling us otherwise.
ORIGINAL REVIEW: Purchased a LG microwave about 5 months ago. While cooking food according to their instructions in their manual the microwave started on fire. Either the manual's instructions were wrong or the microwave malfunctioned. LG was called and a service person was sent out. We were informed by their service department that the service person they sent out would determine whether the microwave would be repaired or replaced. According to the service person we had been misinformed in that he does not make that decision, and that is left for someone else. We were told that he would turn in his report and we would be contacted.
An engineer contacted us and said that the microwave did not malfunction and because there was a fire in it LG is not responsible. Why is it that we followed all the directions but yet they don't want to acknowledge that there is something wrong with the microwave? No pictures are available as damage was on the inside top of microwave.

Bought the microwave from Walmart in 2019, used it without issue for about a year. Last night, I put something in to warm for 1 minute. (No metals etc of course.) And no sooner had the minute started I turned away, heard a huge grinding whoosh noise, turned back to see fire coming from the right side panel. It made the sound again, another burst of flame and I shut it off. I had the unit unplugged and set outside. I contacted LG with a pic of a clear burn mark on the right panel, explained what happened and they told me too bad, nothing they can do, try returning it to store. ALSO, they further accused me of "exploding" something in the microwave itself. This was the "suggestion" of a supervisor. I am appalled and surprised at how they handle this situation. I would seriously reconsider buying anything from them. This could have ended up so much worse than $150 down the drain.

I purchased a new LG Microwave Nov, 2018. It stopped heating during the coronavirus. I went to LG who said they might be able to help, but nobody ever called or emailed. They said unplug it and plug it back in thru Facebook. I called their recommended service provider and they said it would be cheaper to just get a new one. I waited a couple of weeks, and still haven't heard so we had to go buy a brand new microwave. DO NOT BUY LG. All they had to do was fix it or refund me. This is absolutely the worst time to go without a microwave and have terrible service on top of it.

Updated on 04/16/2020: As follow up, after I posted a complaint about my microwave, LG posted a reply on ConsumerAffairs which implied that they would look into our complaint. Wrong! We received a call today 4-16-2020 from the next level supervisor who said "you received bad information from our customer service rep but we still cannot honor our warranty". This was the second LG microwave we had purchased, and the second to fail. This last one after about 4 months.
One of the last LG reps we spoke to said there was no problem with our reimbursement paperwork and the warranty reimbursement check would be sent right out. Wrong again! This last supervisor told us that his company gave us bad information on how to file a claim and too bad for us that they made the mistake and now we are out the cost for another LG microwave. Just beware, if you do have issues with your appliance that is under warranty, LG may not honor their warranty even after admitting they were at fault.
Original Review: We purchased a LG microwave to replace the LG microwave that stopped working after 2 years. After 4 months the new LG stopped working. It was under LG warranty so we called and submitted the warranty reimbursement form. After not hearing back for over a week, we called and they advised us that they needed the serial number from the unit cut in half. We submitted both the form and the serial number. After not hearing back again we called and they told us to submit the cut serial number tag on the actual submission form, so we did that and send it back in. After not hearing for two to three weeks we called again and we were told we also needed the manufacturer tag cut in half and submitted on the form. At that point being over two months of dealing with LG, we had already disposed of the unit. We told the rep and he advised no problem they would be sending the reimbursement check to us.
After another week and a half we called in again and we were told without the cut manufacturer tag on the form we would not be reimbursed. We explained that the last rep said there was no issue with this and explained the entire situation again. We called again to be disconnected and called again to be told there would be no reimbursement without the manufacturer tag. After much discussion we asked the rep to send our request to a supervisor. She said it would be another week before a supervisor could look at our request.
Bottom line buy a better brand microwave unless you want to continue to replace them and have LG give you misinformation to file a claim under warranty. Had I known their service was this poor I would have never bought any LG appliances. Had we known we needed more information off the unit we would have gladly supplied that at the time but the representatives gave us bad information. There are too many good quality products on the market to settle for horrible service and low quality from LG.

Updated on 03/24/2020: Well this is just a follow up to my last review. Still no change in the fact that LG has the worst customer service. As stated in my last review I bought the microwave last November and after 10 service calls they still refuse to replace the unit, forcing me to take day after day off work as they try and repair the microwave. DO NOT BUY LG is my advice if you're in the market for appliances. I only hit 1 star because it wouldn't let me put none.
Original Review: Well I wish I could say my experience was good, but if I had to do it all over I would definitely not choose LG. It started in November of 2019, I was deep in the middle of a whole house remodel and it was time to purchase appliances. I chose LG because they had the look I was wanting and seemed to have decent reviews. So I made my purchase at the Home Depot and set up delivery.
They were delivered the next weekend and as they suggested I unboxed everything at once before the delivery driver left and all looked just as beautiful as the ones I had picked out at the store. I was still a week away from actually installing all the appliances so I didn't think to plug each item in to make sure they worked. That's where the trouble started, the refrigerator, range, and dishwasher all worked great and still do to this day. But when I got the over the range microwave installed and plugged in it wouldn't work. I immediately called home depot who referred me to LG direct. I called LG direct and they said since I waited 72 hours that I would have to have it fixed rather than replaced.
Here we are March 1st 2020, 5 service calls, 8 calls on hold with LG, and a pissed off wife, I still don't have a working microwave, and the "part" they say it needs is backordered. I am beyond pissed off with LG and would definitely not recommend them on the sole reason as they do not stand behind their product. I wish I could return all of the stuff and go with another brand. I'll keep you updated if they make it right. But I have lost all faith in their customer service.

The LG microwave we purchased went out on us after we cooked the first potato. We had the LG microwave no longer than 2 weeks and had troubles. After working with LG for almost a month to have them fix the microwave LG blames A&E and A&E says there is nothing they can do without LG's approval. This went on numerous times and 3 appointments with the tech. so no microwave for Thanksgiving. Now No microwave for Christmas. Warning for whom is interested in this product that buyer beware! Our Sears Technician said that this microwave seems to go out quickly. I am a General contractor and have been building homes for over 19 years. This has been the worst experience I have ever had. Sincerely, Curt with Nail it Down Construction
Newer unit for my home and the outer glass "fell off" in use. It was attached using a black colored adhesive. I called support for correct adhesive information so I could fix it and was told they couldn't help me. It was like they couldn't hear or understand I simply wanted the correct adhesive information. It should have been simple. Then they wouldn't connect me to someone who could help and actually hung up when I said it was "silly".
Buyer Beware: We purchased an LG over the stove 2.0 Microwave middle of Nov 2019. After installation I turned the surface light of the microwave on. When I went back to put a dish in the microwave I found it to be extremely hot inside. We had not used the microwave nor the stove below to generate such heat. We turned off the surface light & checked the interior of the microwave it had cooled down. We then put a thermometer inside the microwave & turned the surface light back on to check if the light itself created the heat. In less than 1/2 hr the interior of the microwave heated to 117 F degrees. When we turned off the light the microwave was cool.
We then called LG to alert them to our experience. The rep first hinted that it could be an electrical problem with our home. I explained our kitchen had been recently updated including all the electrical which was inspected by our local county inspector. They then sent a service tech out to examine the microwave. LG technical support told the service tech not to touch the microwave. They issued us a Claim number & an internal Bulletin about the problem. The tech told us we had to replace the light bulb ourselves despite it being new & under warranty.
My husband is an electrician as well his friend who is a master electrician. They both researched the model. LG changed from the earlier model a 30 WATT incandescent light bulb to a 50 WATT Halogen light bulb in the same lighting compartment & model. The hole for the 30 WATT incandescent light bulb is still in the compartment & next to it is the newly added 50 WATT Halogen light bulb. IT sits just below the microwave box with absolutely NO VENTILATION.
We were advised to notify our State's Attorney's Office as well the BBB. We alerted the store we purchased it from to check the models they have on the floor & beware of the problem. Had we just turned on the surface light & left our home I can't imagine the outcome. If you're seeking to purchase a new LG microwave first check what type of surface light bulb the microwave is equipped with before you purchase it. LG obviously has no solution or will back their warranty on a less than one month old microwave.
The light bulbs on the bottom of my over the stove microwave get so hot that they are melting the plastic cover that surrounds them. A hole has been burnt right through the plastic. I finally just took the cover off as small bits of plastic were falling out of the cover on to the stove. Anyone else having this problem? Let me say that my microwave is about 8 years old but everything else works fine on it, just an issue with the overheating light bulbs.
I purchased an over the range microwave in June 2019 but unfortunately it has already stopped working twice. Both times the microwave turns on and counts down the time but does not heat up. I would like to think it just a faulty microwave but our brand new LG refrigerator has leaked twice and caused thousands of dollars of damage to our neighbor below our condo. LG refuses to replace either appliance and insists on making the same repairs over and over again until it is deemed a "unfixable manufacturing defect". I will never buy LG appliances again.
Purchased a LG 1.5 ft.³ smart inverter microwave oven in August 2019. Three weeks later the unit quit heating. I called LG customer support and was eventually told the magnetron was defective. I was told I could send the microwave back to LG and they would replace me with a brand new one. Not wanting to wait, I decided to return the microwave to Home Depot where it was purchased and was given a full refund. Because Home Depot‘s return policy includes a 90 day exchange or refund, I decided to purchase a different brand. The moral to this story is don’t wait on LG to refund, replace, or repair your appliance if it is newer than three months. Take it back to the store you bought it from instead. Far less stressful.
I purchased the GE LG microwave because of the high ratings given to it by consumer reporting agencies. I paid over $300 for a microwave that began to have operating problems soon after it was purchased. Several times, I unplugged and "rebooted" the machine and it would work fine for awhile. Finally, one month before the one year warranty expired, an F-3 sign and sound told me that something was wrong with the microwave. I contacted General Electric a total of three times and gave them all information requested. I was told that the purchase price would be refunded in full. It never was!
LG countertop microwave oven completely quit working after 3 weeks. Customer Service said I could get a refund but it's now been over 3 months and no refund. I had to write 2 letters and make numerous phone calls - LG is a nightmare to deal with. Their customer service people are barely understandable over the phone, and they never follow up on any of my letters. I just emailed the company again and now they are asking for the same documentation already sent them. I had to file complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the FTC, and the New Mexico State Atty General. The next step will be to sue them in small claims court. This has been a huge waste of time and frustration. I will never purchase an LG product again - a very unprofessional corporation who do not honor their warranties.
Within the first year the fuse blew and was repaired under warranty. I purchased extended warranty and sure enough, I had to use twice within the 2nd year. I have not yet reached the 2nd anniversary of its installation and am currently waiting on parts for the 3rd repair! All three times it appears to have been the fuse that blew and not the circuit board may have been damaged as a result. I warn everyone to stay away from GE appliances. My GE refrigerator was missing parts upon delivery but has since held up.
Stopped heating food 1yr. 5mths. Everything else works and acts fine but won't heat anything. Warranty only good for 1yr. Very disappointed with company and this product. Expected much more from LG, especially with the cost of this oven. Many other reviewers have experienced similar problems. I tried to get parts only to find out this microwave has been discontinued. Wow, I wonder why? Life is NOT good with this product. Definitely would not recommend this product and advise to be cautious with any LG microwaves.
Our LG microwave went out within months. LG refuses to repair or replace (THAT'S WHAT WARRANTY PROMISES) - only offers ORIGNAL WHOLESALE price paid by our designer, no shipping, NOT WHAT IT WILL COST US TO REPLACE even though we explained multiple times that the price was not what came out of our pocket (because of designer add-on) and not what the model costs now with inflation. We custom cut and trimmed for that microwave. We will be out $100 plus to replace it.
This microwave is designed in a genius way! It’s large, you can select the type of food and status (frozen..) instead of choosing strength or time. It’s heavy duty, I don’t think people would survive it. It gives you the feeling it’s a luxurious and reliable product.
I've had my LG for 4 years now. It's over my stove and looks and works great. I was so glad when I was able to purchase to finish up my kitchen. My LG do everything from popcorn to cooking chicken. If you haven't tried LG product do so soon.
Love the sensors that are inside to control the cooking of the unit, great for popcorn and re-heating. This microwave has the ability of re-heating a cup of coffee without giving it that burnt taste. We especially like the increased capacity of the inside of the oven itself, and like the way it fits under the cabinet over the stove and is vented to the outside.
Great microwave for the inexpensive price! I would purchase this product again if needed. LG makes good products at a fair market price. I always consider buying LG products with no regrets. I recommend LG products.
I am extremely happy with my LG microwave. I have not had any problems since I bought it 4 years ago and when the day comes that it no longer works, I will be sure to purchase another LG microwave. I have also recommended this microwave to family and friends.
I was first attracted to this microwave in the store because it's very nice looking, brushed silver and black. Also the size is perfect for my mid-size kitchen. Not too big or small. Turns out this is a very reliable nice microwave. It has good power. Cooks everything perfect. Best one I have owned.
Purchased this microwave February 2015. Have had several electrical problems. Circuit board shorted out, micron blew out, the sliding door for the exhaust fan broke and had to be repaired. It takes forever to receive replacement parts. Will never buy another LG microwave.
Best microwave we've ever owned. The round interior is way better than the usual rectangular interiors on most other models. It's easy to operate, and performs better than expected. If this one ever breaks down, we'll replace it with another similar model.
I cooked below the microwave. The steam and heat from cooking and combined with cooking in the microwave has crumbled the plastic that secures the lower handle. It is now taped on. A new door is 260 dollars. I can't afford that. What good is a microwave if you can't use it? Really!!!!
I like how it's a touch screen. You just drag the bar with your finger. It's more effective than punching numbers. But, the microwave doesn't have a 5 seconds option so it's hard to cook your food at your desired temperature. Also, it's hard to keep it clean since so many girls uses it each day. I wish it was bigger so that more than one thing can be reheated since we eat a lot of leftovers or frozen meals.
We purchased our first one at Best Buy. The capacity is very large. We sold our house after five years. We were so happy with the microwave. When we built a new house we purchased the exact same one. We are still using the same microwave after four years and still love it.
I do like the large clock on front. When I need it to reheat something, and it does the job well enough that I don't have to put much thought into the process. Would be nice for a larger turntable to fit larger items. Also, the controls would be nice to have easier timer operation.
My LG over range microwave oven has an extremely nice appearance. It is medium size and has a turntable. It also has a powerful vent fan with a stainless steel filter. My wife & I use it every day. It is the best microwave oven we ever purchased. I recommend this product.
It’s the best product that has elegance, stability and quality. LG is everlasting machine. Hands down. I will purchase for my family generations to keep using until LG stop making their products. I love LG.
I love the look of this microwave. My daughter bought it to replace my old one. It has so many functions and it works very well. I'm glad she got it for me. It gets the food really hot. I love LG products and this has not let me down. I would recommend this microwave to everyone.
The microwave is very easy to use and installed, love the way it looks. Has a very up to date style to it. It works very well, heats the food or beverage up very evenly. Love the color of the front glass window.
Easy to use, looks and works great. Very easy to keep clean and has delay and lighting features. What else can I say except I love my LG microwave. Hope this works for you as there is just so many words you can use to describe a microwave.
This microwave is economy and the material easy to clean inside and outside. A great buy in price and looks very well in my kitchen. Cooks very well and easy to use. The one that I have the size is right and was easy to install.
When choosing LG products you don’t have to think twice before buying them because you know you are purchasing quality that is at affordable and reasonable prices. The main benefit I think is their quick after-sales service if by chance some problem arises...
This machine works great. The controls are versatile enabling the proper heating method for a wide variety of foods yet are simple and easy to use. It's stainless steel which looks great and is large enough to accept a medium size pizza and still compact enough for our countertop. It has a built-in toaster which is a plus that also saves counter space. I'm very happy with this microwave.
The machine looks great and works well. The only problems we have had thus far is the light inside burned out and it's beginning to develop a hot spot. However, it is 8 years old so that is not surprising.
I love LG products. The microwave works and looks great. I just don't understand why they have to charge so much money for them. I wouldn't recommend buying an LG product right away when it comes out. Wait for them to go on sale. You'll be glad you did.
Purchased our LG microwave about 10 months ago to replace a GE dinosaur. The LG is sleek looking, powerful, loaded with easy features and most importantly, quiet and the alert when it's ready is almost pleasant.
Our LG microwave is a low performer compared to our last. It took much longer to heat foods through. The buzzer letting us know it was done was very quiet, but the microwave itself was very loud and annoying (rumbling, rattling and humming). The biggest set back is the touch panel, it is impossible to see the settings since there is no backlight. Unit seems to get very hot as well.
I bought this to replace a Samsung. I was unhappy with the Samsung but it came with my house. This LG has been a daily workhorse. Never a problem. The only downside is that the keyboard doesn't light up.
LG's black stainless steel microwaves are gorgeous. Functionality and ease of use is great. It also cooks well inside not just top of food hot. Downside is how easy to leave fingerprints. Price is a little high, but when you get a bundle of appliances, it is reasonable.
I really like this microwave. It is great because it allows you to easily set the microwave to multiple power settings and times intuitively. Many microwaves that I see do not allow this, or only in limited capacities.
I love our microwave. The only thing I don't really like is you have to run the potatoes twice in order for them to be done. I think that they have made great improvements since the first one we got. I love it.
I purchased the microwave a year ago and it works great and warms up food evenly. I clean it easily. It looks brand new inside and outside. The color I have is black with some chrome linings and inside it's beige.
LG Microwave Mod# LMC0975ST/01. This microwave came with a very user friendly owners manual, that I like. Unlike my other microwaves this one has a hexagon rotating ring with six wheels for the glass tray to sit on. Plus the glass tray has glass bump outs on the bottom that fit into a bump out shaft on the microwave bottom. No more dislocated dishes falling or sliding off. This microwave has performed better than I expected and I have enjoyed using it from day one. It has all the usual programs like, Smart diagnosis, Auto cook, Auto reheat, Popcorn, Defrost, Power level, Cook time, Stop/clear, Start/enter, interrupted cooking.
There is a beautiful sleek smoke glass full front panel that will match any decor. I found the tip section on what to use, or not to use, when it comes to microwave-safe cookware very useful. There is also a Child Lock safety feature, and the sound signals are very audible on this microwave. There is a clock, Kitchen timer and a easy to use, slide touch timer. Don't forget to read the maintenance section. I found it very helpful. Limited warranty for Canada or the USA, is provided at the back and there is also a 1-800 number plus their website.
The control panel is poorly lit and very difficult to see. The panel is both inside and outside the door. Confusing and literally impossible to see. You finally get used to just guessing what is what it cooks fine but don’t try to read the panel without getting the manual out.
The micro is good. The front of the fan tray is broken because of the heat. It appears as steel but it is plastic. There is no way to fix it without buying a new unit. I called the homeowners insurance. The technician said that nothing can be done. This microwave costs $375 plus $135 for installation. Very disappointed.
On Jan. 18, 2019 we purchased the above referenced microwave. It never worked when we brought it home, and Best Buy stepped up and just let us trade the non-working one for one that did work. Now, less than 3 months later, the machine stopped working overnight--lights and turntable work, but no heat or cooking is generated. Working with LG customer service warranty department is a nightmare.
The customer service staff is very difficult to understand, when you are transferred to another department, there are very long wait times to connect, and instead of having it repaired locally, LG wanted me to pack it up and mail it to them. I have had LG equipment in the past and been satisfied. However, after this fiasco I will never buy another from them. All this hassle on top of not having a working microwave. My hope is that they will just pay me the purchase cost and let me get on with my life with a different brand. The customer service department and website are not user friendly at all.
I picked up 2 LG stainless steel above range microwaves that were both used, very attractive looking models, 1 was purchased 1 week before the other from different places and they both have the exact same cracked door. The door cracks on the side by the handle just below the arm that locks in place exits the frame. This has to be happening to every single one made since I got 2 in 2 weeks.
For all of those who picked out all brand new LG products for their choice of appliances I have to ask if they would have chosen them if the name was Gold Star? Remember that terrible low quality manufacturer from the 1990s that made complete junk? Well it's the same company that changed their name around 2000 to LG! How about that! Did you know this? Of course you didn't or you never would have considered LG for anything especially to be your brand for all your major appliances. Sometimes you need to research companies before you buy them. New names like Samsung, LG, Daewoo, Funia, Symphony, Orion, Oritron, iHome, Emerson, Visio, Trutech, Durabrand, Insignia, etc...
All have some background, while some of these brands may make 1 or 2 good items, Funia is 1 of the largest manufacturers of all products made in China (kinda like a Mitsubishi or Sony in their own right) that actually makes products for dozens of companies including Sony and a long list of their own sub-companies plus for their own brand name as well. You would be surprised to know just how many other brands they provide parts for. Yet most would pick a Samsung over Funai any day of the week, just to pay more for something that's probably not even better or maybe even inferior to a Funai brand item.
Funai has been around forever like Matsushita, Nakamichi, Sony, Yamaha, Mitsubishi, Matsubara, Akia, Awai, Nippon, JVC, and other Asian companies who have all made good stuff at one time but their parent companies have changed as the names are sold to larger conglomerates who names are never shown on their products. Most recently Samsung bought out the Harmon Group which has been making top notch audio gear for generations. Infinity, JBL, Harmon Kardon, Crown and others will no longer be what they once were, this happened 2 years ago and if you haven't noticed yet these companies are not winning any high praise from the groups that once held them as top in their field. This is why it's important to know who really makes the stuff you buy.
Samsung is a maker of junk, plain and simple. They bought Harmon to try and get their foot in the door on car audio electronics and have really no other interest in continuing making high end audio, they will try to phase them out and apply their own brand name audio which will follow along their same disposable electronics junk they have shown to make in the past. You will see nothing impressive coming from them, all flash and bells and whistles. More plastic molded stuff like they're used to making and they will market it for those who will fall for it. Looks definitely aren't everything when it come to electronics, but many will learn the hard way. As most who bought LG did!
I had purchased LG-MICROWAVE MJ3296BFT on dated 9th Nov 2018 from National Videos Sector 20 Panchkula. It's burnt out second time in 3 months. The product itself has some fault but technical team keep sending technicians to fix it. They need to fix the issue rather than fixing the product each month. I raised my second complaint # **. The first time it was repaired on dated 31st Jan 2019. Now they are ignoring my calls and wasting my time. I had a talk with Mr. ** and Mrs. Bhavna **. But they are not interested to resolve my issue because their product is SOLD and now it is a big headache for me.
We bought the LG countertop Microwave (Model LCRT2010) at Best Buy. We usually purchase an extended warranty whenever we buy appliances, but for some reason did not this time. A few nights ago, everything cooked just fine, but when I tried to warm some cooled food, I noticed that it didn’t seem to be any hotter. Sure enough the next day it wasn’t warming the food. It’s two years and 9 months old. For God’s sake! An appliance should work longer than this! I guess those little children in China just can’t make a product like our ancestors used to. LG, never again. How are you even in business??
We purchased LG microwave oven that failed approximately 4 months into the warranty period. The warranty reads that “LG will, at it’s option, will repair or replace the Product“. LG’s policy apparently is not to do either of these things for countertop microwaves. They refused to repair or replace the unit, but suggested that we purchase another unit. They did in fact refund the original price of the unit, but now the unit could only be purchased for $30.00 more. As the request of a customer service agent we submitted the new receipt indicating that a price adjustment would be given.
Long story short, not only did we have to do the leg work and go out and find another unit, we have had to absorb the difference in the price. DO NOT BELIEVE THE WARRANTY! Had we known that we couldn’t trust the warranty and the customer service agent, we would have chosen another brand of microwave. Although we have purchased other LG appliances (TVs, dishwashers etc) we will not make that mistake again!
I received my LG Microwave with Smart Inverter December 2017. My only complaint was that on rare occasions it didn't seem to work at full power. However, one day my son put something in it and turned to walk away and heard a sparking sound. When he turned around there were flames coming from the small metal panel on the right inside wall. He turned it off and took out the food and there seemed to be a hole in the panel. We didn't know if it would work anymore and didn't want to try for fear of fire.
Bought this unit in Feb 2016 from Best Buy for $116.00 and yesterday, 3 Jan 2019, it died. Never again with LG. Quite the appointment as the older ones lasted some 12 years and it was not a name brand unit.
I purchase this microwave for $116.00 at Home Depot. It is 3 days over the 1 year manufacturer warranty and last night it started sparking and there are burnt spots on the inside! Only 2 people have ever used this appliance, it's been kept clean and properly used. I will never buy an LG again!!
I've had this LG model LMV1683ST microwave under 2 years. I had my house remodeled by a contractor and spent $13,000 for new appliances. They choose LG for Refrigerator dishwasher stove and microwave. Then after 2 years later it suddenly started to making sparks and flames from one of the shelf hooks in the microwave started. If hadn’t been there in time, it had all the makings of a major catastrophe and burning down my home. I removed the metal shelf thinking that was the issue, but it was not. It happened again, and this time I unplugged the unit, and I'm at the point of removing it from my wall and tossing in trash. When it comes to LG customer support or Technical support even executive services they’re useless.
I’ve been trying now for weeks to get this resolved and get a replacement but as of yet there’s no resolution sight. I don’t trust this unit even if it’s repaired. Microwaves are not supposed suddenly burst into flames. I asked customer support if they would want this defective unit their home. Reply no. So then they’re saying it’s ok for a consumer to have it their home and risk harm to their family. As stated before. LG says their initials stand for Life's Good. Should be Looking Grievous. Or LNG Life’s Not Good.
Following in quotes is my last communication to LG about the warranty claim for my over-the-range microwave. Following their second opinion mentioned in the communication they finally replaced the unit. Honestly I have a house full of LG appliances and electronics and all in all I’m happy with them all but if my warranty experience is anything like standard, I hope your product never breaks. The following stands as my review:
“I have a warranty claim for a $189 over the range microwave that’s been going on since 7/11 with 6 repair visits and another scheduled for 9/21. Everything has been replaced at least twice and some things 4 times and it still doesn’t work and still, regardless of my begging including a desperate letter to the company president, you refuse to replace the unit. Your last reply was that my request was denied and you were seeking a second opinion. Turns out it’s from the same repair company who have already sent two different technicians. Love your products. HATE your warranty service. Case **. Service costs listed on visit receipts exceed $1,700. Seems a bit much for a $189 unit. PLEASE HELP!!!”
Just removed our kitchen last year. We brought this microwave in Aug 2017. Only lasted 14 months. One day was heating a biscuit, it started popping smell like wires were burning. Now it doesn't heat. Was told $125.00 just to come out. If it took longer than 15 minute to repair it would be another $65.00 up to $175.00. We decided that buying another brand would be better for us. We will never again buy a LG product. Our other microwave is a GE Profile and is over 7 years old and never had any problems. I wish I would have done a better job checking out LG appliances.
I purchased an LG Easy Clean microwave in 2014. The unit wasn’t exactly cheap but I figured I’d invest in a better quality unit. Recently (2018) I noticed the smell of burning and sparking coming from the unit. I opened the door and noticed that the inside lower left corner was physically melted??? I have never experienced anything like this with any other microwave in my life. Obviously I felt this was a safety issue and an obviously defective microwave.
I called LG and jumped through all their hoops, providing them photos etc. They were supposed to call me back (they didn’t). When I called back I was told that they only offer a 1 yr warranty and the fact that I got 4 yrs out of it was good. Umm, a melted door is good??? Long story short, LG told me I can try to find someone to repair it but it will be costly and recommended I buy a new one. Yup, after only 4 yrs. I asked if a “MELTED DOOR” was particularly concerning to LG? He said no, it’s 4 years old. Umm, well I guess it had a good run in LG’s eyes. I’ll never buy from LG or any affiliate again. WOW!??
I bought an “LG Microwave Smart Inverter Magnetron” at Lowe’s, the higher priced larger microwave. After a few short months it completely stopped working while I was using it to heat up food. Only use is frozen meals, or heat food / drink about once a day. The longest period of use is 8 minutes. I contacted LG and they asked for a receipt before they would refund. I sent the receipt via email as they requested. After 6 weeks, they called and said I would need to go buy another LG and THEN they would reimburse me after I sent them a proof of purchase. The problem with that is, I don’t want another LG because of the chance of breaking and going through all of this AGAIN! Also, what if I get stuck and I am then $600 down the drains. The customer service is in Hong Kong and I had a difficult time communicating. #NEVERLG!
The exhaust fan never worked correctly. One speed- Turbo. Loud. Very loud. Two service calls and three phone calls to the Executive Service Department, along with a dozen to the service provider company, yielded nothing. Bought in June, installed in July, with calls for service starting four days after delivery, have now, in mid-September, yielded nothing. No one calls me back, not even the Executive Service Department fellows, Bryan, Willie and Milton, who each assured me they would call me back within five days. Nothing. No repair, no exchange, no return, no nothing. LG does not stand behind its products. Don't expect any service. Don't buy from Home Depot who says they do not deal with service problems. Avoid a problem with defective products and DO NOT BUY ANYTHING WITH LG ON IT.
I purchased an LG Microwave P/No 3850W2A233P. The handle seems to be made of stainless steel - what a stupid thing to do since 90% of Microwaves are located above ovens. The heat from the stove and the pots and pans heat the handle and no warning label or anything lets consumer knows to be careful. That never happened with my Samsung Microwave and we owned it for 13 years. WHAT A Waste of money. My son got burned so bad we had to take him to the doctor. Horrible product. DO NOT BUY.
On September 29th 2017 we purchased an LG Microwave from AJ Madison. May 31st 2018 The Microwave stopped working. The Microwave is under warranty. It took LG 2 weeks To give us the number to a service tech. We were to call service tech ourselves and set up appointment. The 1st tech that they gave us, did not even service in our area and did not return our call for over a week. Second one didn’t return our calls or answer the phone for 2 weeks. We asked for another service tech. The 3rd was also not returning calls. 3 weeks later we hadn’t even seen a tech. Week 4 we get a tech, they came over with 3 possible parts that may or may not have needed changing. They changed all 3 parts 1) Magnetron 2) door switch 3) capacitor. None of which fixed the Microwave.
Week 5 they decide to replace the Computer board. This also did not fix the issue. Still into week 5 LG asked for a copy of my receipt, which was provided to them VIA email. With that receipt LG was to decide whether to refund my money or give me a new Microwave. Today is July 18th, 2018. LG did not respond to email regarding return or refund. We called LG customer service several times this week and their recording said “We are not accepting customer service calls at this time.” This day 7/18/18 they answered our phone call only to tell us that we are to call another tech for yet a 4th visit to my home, and a month and a half with no Microwave! I replaced my 23 year old GE profile (that was still working) for this! This review is directed towards LG only! Not AJ Madison. This is absolutely without a doubt the worst customer service I have ever heard of. I will never purchase another LG appliance. I am seeking legal advice at this time.
I purchased the LG Microwave Oven (MC2886BRUM) on 16th November, 2017. The above mention product is still under warranty. Within 6-7 months, on 31st May, 2018, the product stopped functioning, and we had no other choice other than lodge a complaint with LG customer care. The Complaint No. is ** dated 31st May 2018. Unfortunately, till date (6th June, 2018) the problem has not been resolved, and LG team is not at all bother about it. Two times service representatives has visited, did enough R&D activity, tried to resolve the issue through lot of trial and error method, but did not able to identify the problem. The product was almost dismantled, and at least 6-7 spear parts has been removed and replaced but still the problem has not resolved.
My home became a free of cost R&D centre for LG. Even if the product gets repaired in future, then also, all of us can understand what will be the situation of a 6 months old Microwave Oven after this heavy trial and error activity. From past 6 days, I am literally begging to LG, but they are not at all bother to resolve the problem. Previously I had some bad experience with LG Service, with some other product, but I thought that is an exceptional incident. Now I am sure that “we are under trap of LG once we purchase their products." Pathetic after sales service. Please avoid LG.
Worst experience I have had as a consumer - ever. I ordered an LG microwave 1/3/18 through a third-party, AJ Madison. It was delayed weeks (not LG's fault), when I finally received it and plugged it in it had a code of death - F11. It never worked, not even ONE SECOND. That was middle of March. It's now May 3, 2018. I have sent in repeated receipts, responded to their letters, requests for more information, taken pictures, cut up serial numbers, signed declarations that I did in fact buy the microwave.
Gotten the third party involved and had them try on my behalf to no avail! They now want me to send them a receipt having bought a second one of these before they'll send me my money back for the January 3, 2018 purchase! I'm on hold again with LG, 26 minutes into it and the customer service wants to 'explain the process to me' - you've got to be kidding me. LG, as a very American, cooperative consumer who has purchased 14 appliances in the last year and done lots of shopping - this is the WORST customer service experience I have ever had!
Purchased top of the line LG microwave. Have not had it (6) months - it got so hot that had we not noticed & pulled it out I believe it would have started a fire. It burned up! NEVER will I purchase a LG product.
We purchased all LG appliances in 2012, I had to replace the microwave in 2015 and again in 2018, they just stopped working. This last one I had stopped working 1/2 thru cooking, the turntable stopped turning and it would not heat. 3 microwaves since 2012... These are not made to last, it's sad, I liked it when it was working, I would not purchase this brand again... And when I complained to LG all I got told was, "Sorry. It's not under warranty." JUNK.
I also had a LG refrigerator that only lasted 5 years. Terrible products. So I saw the Magnetron has a 10 year warranty so I called and they told me on the phone, it would cost me 125.00 right there for the service call and the technician would come out and replace the Magnetron and if it was over 30 min I would pay 35. Extra. When the guy came he looked at the microwave and said, "It is the Magnetron and I ordered it but it did not come yet, and you owe me 35.00. I will be back in two weeks with the part."
I am furious. I asked him what that 35.00 was for and why did he come out without the part and he said, "I charge 160, so are suppose to pay me 35.00 no matter what." 1. Why did he come here without the part? 2. This is not what they told me on the phone. 3. I called them to complain and they said exactly the same thing to me and then when I asked for a manager, the CS person said, we have to review your call and you have to pay him for ordering the part, and then he said you have to pay him for extra time and then he said something else.
When I pointed out all the various things he said, he said, "We have to say these things." He refused to put me through to a manager. He said, "We will call you tomorrow and review your call." Which is nuts since he said the exact same thing to me and the service guy said something different. Also the CS rep said, "Well 70-80% of the time the service tech brings the Magnetron." So I pay extra time because I am in the 20%. Also NO ONE SAID I needed to pay another 35.00 when he came. They said, "If he goes over 30 minutes." So, so wrong.
I had purchased top of the line LG stove in 2009. The very first time using it my house burned out my whole kitchen and half the house. Now this microwave that was replaced in 2009 has once again set my house on fire. My God do they do any quality control testing? Several recall notices too on said stoves. Just unbelievable.
Microwave had a fire in the fan/exhaust area and spread to the cabinets. It could have spread, had I not turned off the breaker. The wiring to the wall had not electrical issues. The fire clearly started from within the microwave. MODEL# LMV1813SW.
I have had to stop using my LG microwave (LMV168OST) as the plastic frame around the door glass and handle has fallen apart. I already replaced it with a new one a couple years ago and the same issue happened again with the replaced one. This seems like a safety hazard and I am sure other users have had this happen. Poor design of the door and frame...
I've had this LG model LMV1683SW microwave under 2 years, and I'm tearing it out of my kitchen and throwing it out. First, the turntable started making this awful rumble. LG said it's crumbs in the track. The track was clean, but I cleaned it anyway. Still rumbled. Then sparks and small flames started shooting out of a vent hole near one of the shelf hooks. I removed the metal shelf thinking that was the issue, but it was not. It happened again, and this time I unplugged the unit, and I'm removing it from my wall. LG says their initials stand for Life's Good. Should be Looking Grievous.
We upgraded all of our kitchen appliances to LG about 5 years ago. Huge mistake! Out of the 4 (refrigerator, oven, dishwasher and stove), 3 have had major, repeated issues. And each appliance was very expensive. In light of all the issues, I have still not ever filed a review or complaint on any site until now. Because I’m hoping my review will help you keep your family safe.
After having it for about 5 years, our LG Extenda-Vent over the range microwave caught on fire! Sure, there were issues before like others have mentioned-the extenda-vent won’t close and the pieces of it broke off due to heat from the oven (poor design clearly as it is an over-the-range unit) but this time, my husband heated something up and the microwave went up in flames! Real flames. Luckily we had an extinguisher and put it out quickly but what if the kids were home alone and tried to heat something up? What if we weren’t right in the kitchen and noticed the smoke??
I have now read many complaints of these microwaves catching on fire—what will it take for a recall? Or for someone to shut down LG completely? All of their products (fingers crossed for the stove) have some major design flaw. And others are right about the customer service, too. I have spent hours of my life on the phone with them, for a variety of recurrent issues, without good results. Who has time for that? Please keep your family safe and go with another brand.
I purchased LG micro oven in March 2017, with model number MC2846BV. But recently it has developed burnt marks on the plastic door and steel door frame. The product is under AMC for three years and paid RS 3000 for AMC charges. We complained regarding the problem to LG service but they haven't replaced or repaired it even though it is in warranty period. Attached are the pictures. I request the concerned office to take necessary justice to me. Thanks.
I have a black stainless over-the-range microwave. After 10 months the touchpad has quit working. I have to have the microwave unplugged because, if I plug it in the fan runs and the microwave appears to be running but none of the buttons on the touchpad work so I cannot shut it off. I first contacted Lowe's service on Nov. 6 and didn't receive a followup call from LG so I called back on Nov. 9. Finally got a call from a service company on Nov. 10 but they could not get anyone out until the following Wednesday and we were going to be gone. The service company canceled the case and I was told I needed to start the process over when I returned home.
I started it again on Nov. 28 and still no call from the service company. Called LG but all they would tell me was that I had to wait until the end of the day. My question to everyone who reads this is: How do we get the big box stores to stop selling LG appliances? LG doesn't seem to care at all about customer satisfaction. Perhaps if Lowe's, Home Depot, Best Buy or one of the other big box stores canceled their contract with LG, perhaps LG would look more seriously at the service they provide. Any suggestions on how consumers could accomplish this?
I bought an LG 2.0 Microwave from Home Deposit. After only 3 months it started making horrible noises each time the glass turntable rotated. I called LG customer service. I was told to submit my invoice by PDF and would receive a refund check. That info was received. Two weeks later a different LG customer service employee wanted me to sign a waiver before they could issue a check. They also wanted photos of the metal serial number even though they were verbally given to them the first time. BTW: They don’t repair microwaves, but supposedly and eventually cut you a check for another LG microwave upon proof of purchase. Of course they never explained that initially as their rules change with every contact. I told the CS rep. after the fourth call to me (forget about trying to contact them) that I use a microwave every day and can’t wait weeks or months for them to reimburse me.
Besides, why would I want to buy the same LG microwave again. I got another brand of microwave the day after the defective one. This is exactly where they want you. You are skeptical of LG microwaves, you bought another brand, so basically you will never be reimbursed for their defective product. This type of deception should result in a class action lawsuit. I believe that stealing $130 is a felony. They didn’t assign any order number to this case, but I have all their correspondence and screenshots of their acceptance of my submitted receipt.
2.5 years and the touch panel dies a slow death. First the #7 button stops, then the #0, and so on. This is our second LG appliance to fail in short time. My first microwave was a Sears and lasted some 15 years, as did my mother's, also a Sears product. I'll NEVER buy another LG product again. Breville will be our next buy.
Needing service on TWO LG APPLIANCES BOUGHT FROM HOME DEPOT. Since Sept. 7 very slow to respond. Compressor on LG went out after 4 years (we are only here 4 months a year). Not acceptable. Microwave vent not working and now no sound for buttons and no signal for end of program. I will NEVER BUY AN LG appliance again.
I want everyone to know how LG handles their "two year warranties". My unit was in use for 9 months before dying. Oh and this is not the first problem I have had with other LG products. So, HERE is the email they sent me today after spending a tremendous amount of time on the phone with them already. Anyone that knows me knows that I DON'T have time.
"We are sorry to learn that you recently experienced a service problem with your LG Product. In an effort to demonstrate our concern, we are offering you reimbursement equal to the original purchase price as shown on your sales receipt. This reimbursement certificate is valid for ninety (90) days from the above date. In order to receive your reimbursement, please carefully follow the below instructions. 1. Purchase a new LG Microwave product from an authorized retailer within the next ninety (90) days. 2. Remove all of the manufacturer's model/serial number label(s) from the back of the old unit, tear/cut in half, and affix each half separately to this letter below. 3. "Once we have received your letter with the copy of the new unit's receipt and attached label(s), we will validate/process your claim and issue a check. You also acknowledge that upon receiving your reimbursement you will properly dispose of the old unit compliant with local law and EPA regulations. Further, you agree to save and indemnify LG of and from any and all expense arising from the use and improper disposal of the old unit."
So, everyone needs to know that THEY WILL GO THROUGH THIS IF THEY BUY AN LG PRODUCT. THEY ARE ACTUALLY TRYING TO FORCE ME TO GO BUY ANOTHER LG BEFORE REFUNDING and if I did do that, which I won't (!!!) I am absolutely sure they will find some error and say they never received it and that will be the end of that. BUYER BEWARE.
Had microwave for around 11 months. Glass started to peel on the inside manufacture defect. Contacted LG numerous times sent pictures. Pictures of receipt and delivery receipt first they were going to send me a box and return it then they change their mind and said that before they could give me a refund because they don't repair countertop microwaves. They said first I had to buy a new LG microwave then send them pictures of the old labels cut or destroyed. Of the old microwave then they would give me refund. I proceeded to tell them that I did not want to buy another LG microwave because I thought they were crap and I should not have to buy another of their products. That didn't go over so well.
All I wanted was the microwave to be repaired or replaced. I will not be forced to buy another one of their products. I already have the stove and refrigerator that had to be repaired five times in the first year. Part of a company's integrity is stand behind their product when something goes wrong and not forcing you to buy their product but instead encourage you to buy their product again by the service you received when something goes wrong. Now all I can think of is going to college for 8 years to become a lawyer to sue LG over their refund and return policies. But in reality will probably just use their piece of crap microwave for target practice to cite in my rifle.
LG over the stove microwave caught fire while not even in use. Flames coming out of vents across the top of unit. l have reached out to LG numerous times. Spoke to liability agent once and was virtually dismissed because I had hired a claims adjuster which had zero to do with LG. All I wanted from LG was my homeowners' insurance deductible. Now that my ins. claim is settled, I have called LG, was given liability agent Tim **'s direct line by a supervisor. I have left him two messages; but he has not returned my calls. I will update this review soon.
I have a LG microwave model SolarDOM. It was not working. Called the technician. Opened the oven and looked at it. That's all he could do. He was not competent or trained to do more. Asked to take it to LG service center in Trivandrum, India. The technician in the center dropped the oven. Called me to pick up the oven. When I took it home, the front glass was again broken. They didn't say a word. I recommend not to buy LG products in Trivandrum, as there are no honest customer service centers.
The unit is 2.5 years old. Over-the-Range stainless model LMV1683ST. All of a sudden, it just stopped working, and the issue is the magnetron tube. I figured somewhere between $75 & $90 for the part and another $60-$80 for a service call. This is not a do-it-yourself project. The unit isn't worth it. This unit gets minimum use - maybe once a day to reheat coffee for a single person. I had a GE that lasted more than 12 years. I never should have purchased an LG product. I always thought they were a quality brand until I read the reviews on this site. Oy! It's clear that the product is marginal at best. Had I done my due diligence and checked this site before the purchase, I could have saved myself this headache.
We are doing a kitchen remodel, I purchased an LG refrigerator (dented), oven, and microwave. The microwave also had a dent so J.C. Penney discounted it. We installed it and the door scrapes horribly when it opens and closes. We called J.C. Penney whose automated service directed us to LG tech support, after about 1.5 hrs phone time they set a service call. The service tech arrived and determined the unit was irreparable, structural damage. I called LG for follow up, the operator couldn't figure out the notes, I had him read them back to me and stopped him where it stated, not repairable. I had to send pictures and a copy of the receipt that were already sent by the repair tech. After multiple hours on the phone I finally got a CNN number For a defective return. They said they will call me to arrange delivery.
A week goes by and nothing. I called back and spoke with Alexander, he re-reviewed, Sorry, nothing we can do. I escalated to his supervisor, Willie who made it clear that I was bothering him and stated, "I will not cover anything on this unit, go back to J.C. Penney." Now the unit is not heating correctly, waiting for the repair tech again. What a BAD!, experience. I will NEVER! buy another LG product.
I have all LG products. Fridge ice maker went out 3 times in a year then 4th time at 18 months. So no ice maker the last year or so. Now today I lost my microwave (lmhm2237st). Just stopped working at 18 months old. LG said pay for an extended warranty for like $360 when the microwave is only like $400. This is by far the worst company I have ever dealt with. My GE honestly last 16 years. My LG a little over a year. What a scam. I will never buy a LG again in my life.
We purchased this LG LMV2031JT microwave along with LG fridge, convection stove, dishwasher around June 2015 as part of a complete kitchen remodel. (sound familiar?) The microwave now won't finish cooking a tv dinner. It will warm something up short duration but after about 3 minutes it just won't heat anymore. Place where we bought it said it might be cheaper to just replace it. :( Wow, bought LG because of supposed quality. LG says to call a service company to repair or buy their additional warranty. I bought it because it should be a quality product, not needing an extended warranty!!! Gal I talked to was nice but foreign. Now I will probably have 3 LG products and an off brand microwave as I will not ever buy another LG product. What a joke.
Made the mistake of purchasing a LG microwave as a Christmas gift. They left the mounting templates out of the box. I called first on 12/26/16 to get them sent out to me. Was supposed to arrive in 7-10 days. Doesn't show up. Call again 1/12/17. Same thing - never shows up. Call back again 2/12/17 - still nothing. Call back again 3/1/17 and was told a simple paper wall template is on back order till 3/17/17. They are a JOKE! If I attempt to install without the templates and mismeasure... It's my cabinets with unnecessary holes. PATHETIC CUSTOMER SERVICE THAT CANNOT SPEAK ENGLISH!
LG microwave dead at 18 months!! I bought an LG kitchen suite. I decided to go with the pricier microwave which looked good and had cool features expecting at least 5 years of function. I bought Model#: LMHM2237ST. It just died one day, no clock, no lights, no power, nothing. Called LG, it is out of warranty period. LG sends me warranty extension offers so frequently for all the appliances but now I understand why. At this point I cannot recommend LG to anyone. Disappointed.
Purchased several major appliances at once from Best Buy. All LG products. The microwave did not work right out the box!!! LG refused to replace it but would send a repair person out. Took a week to get an appointment. Had to take a half a day off to be home during their appointment window. Repair guy didn't show up until 10:00 pm at my house. Replaced a part and left. Next day microwave still broke! Keep in mind it hasn't worked out of the box.
I called LG and once again asked them to replace it and they refused and offered to send the same useless repair service out again. If I took off another half day. I now would have lost more money than the microwave cost! Keep in mind it has never worked!!! I filed a complaint with the BBB and they answered basically that I was not getting the unit replaced. I also filed a complaint with the State attorney general's office which I have not heard back from yet. If you want to know about LG's customer service go to LG Electronics facebook page and read the horror stories posted by LG owners!
Had microwave installed. All went well until we tried to plug it in. The power cord is about a foot shorter than the old microwave and would not reach the outlet. Called LG, customer service, and they had no solution. They even told me told me to not use an extension cord. So now what LG?
I replaced a whirlpool microwave with the LG. Had to have repairs after the warranty ran out. The whirlpool was 14 years old and never had a problem. Only thing good about LG service is that the quoted price was what I paid even though they replaced 3 major components. Oh, if you haven't had stainless steel appliances, they show every little fingerprint and spatter. If I had known this I would have stayed with painted surfaces.
Door is hard to open/close. The vent light went out quickly and the part that the bulb screws into, crumbled so I am lightless. The glass rack that slides sideways is hard to replace after washing and it bangs and rattles until after 20 tries you get it right! You have to be sooo careful when open/closing to not spill because of the jarring. I quit taking the glass tray out to clean and spot wash because of the difficulty resetting it. I really NEED a light over my stove and this microwave has a bad fixture on it, so no light!
My LG died after barely a year of light service (one person household). It was not easy to use: no automatic 30-second or one minute button. It was impossible to see what was inside while operating. It was black (which I thought would not show wear) but it actually highlighted fingerprints. Also, it was noisy. There were no redeeming features. I bought it because it had a high rating on a list online. I replaced it with a GE and have been delighted. None of the difficulties I experienced with LG are present with the GE. LG should be ashamed of their product. It is substandard in every way.
Microwave light randomly goes on and I have to climb up and unplug it to stop the light from randomly turning off and on. The same goes for the fan. Had a GE before that had many more features for less money. LG overpriced for what you get.
I haven't had the microwave a year yet. Started smelling an electrical smell inside the microwave. Any food or liquid starts to smoke with a bad chemical smell. This was not steam! Unplugged for fire hazard and biohazard reasons. No longer using. Not worth repairing. Junk!
Purchased OTC convection oven and I am on the second one with issues. This one comes up with codes F1 after 1st use. 1st unit did not operate at all. Today is 12/29/2016. I am now awaiting a repair response from LG. I will not buy another LG product.
I purchased a LG Microwave, Model# LCS2045WBK/00, Serial # 509TAPEA7432 about a year ago. Always heard great things about LG products, so I spent the $200.00 and bought it. I loved it, but just yesterday it starts, then shuts off and after about 30 seconds it will start up again and shut down. I wouldn't mind if I only paid 80.00 dollars, but I paid 200.00 and expected I wouldn't have a problem considering all the good things I heard about LG's products. Is there a recall on this model??? I'm so disappointed and will never buy another LG product again. I will also tell anyone who needs any kind of appliance to not buy LG.
We had this microwave for a few months and it started tripping the breaker. We had the breaker and all the electrical parts checked - nothing. We called to have it checked and repaired. They replaced a couple of parts in the unit - it still would trip the breaker. Called again and told them to replace the whole thing. Got a new microwave - and every now and then it will trip the breaker. Our old microwave NEVER tripped the breaker or had any issues with it, we only replaced it because we were remodeling our kitchen with all new appliances.
The handle broke on the built-in microwave making it virtually unusable. Came with the house, only 5 years old and can't get a replacement handle. I would never buy any LG appliance because they are **. Very unhappy. The fridge we have has had a problem as well.
I purchase my old LG Microwave Oven Model MVI680ST at Home Depot 2 years ago. The door handle broke. The frame is falling apart in pieces. Have pictures and I immediately contacted LG Customer Support. A representative named Mike was very nice but he's just following orders from chief of command. He said I should contact a service place to have this fixed because it's over a year old of purchase so no warranty. He gave me Ref# ** and case would be submitted to tech. I'm completely unsatisfied after my experience and my neighbor too with her refrigerator she purchase within 9 months started giving her problems. Why would I buy another LG product? LG does not stand behind their warranty! DO NOT buy any LG product! They simply want your $ and they do not care about customer satisfaction!!! After this experience will go back to appliances GE, Whirlpool, Frigidaire.
The control panel will not light up. Only the time clock and cooking time. Customer service was very nice in helping me, but the Microwave is not made for you to see the panel. Even with bright kitchen light it is difficult to use. I was told only about 4 models light up. I will go back to other tried and true companies. It does not make sense if you can't see to use it.
Our two month old LG Microwave Oven Model LCS1112ST "bit the dust" yesterday and I immediately contacted LG Customer Support. After jumping through all the hoops sending them a receipt, proof of damage, etc., I was expecting my $ back since it had a "one year warranty". I received an e-mail saying in order to process my claim, I had to buy another LG microwave before they would consider any refund. Completely unsatisfied with this nonsense, I called and spoke to a gentleman that passed me on to supposedly the supervisor. She said that we were to send a letter explaining why we bought a GE microwave instead of an LG microwave along with additional documentation. Why would I buy another LG product? LG does not stand behind their warranty! DO NOT buy any LG product! They simply want your $ and they do not care about customer satisfaction!!!
The microwave has lost power twice within the last several months, making it so we could not cook because we depend on the FAN for EXHAUST. The microwave is 10 months old and every time I call LG, I am transferred out of country - impossible to understand or communicate. NEVER AGAIN! Please save yourself the headache and find another brand - one where the company stands behind its product and actually cares.
I had my LG microwave for three years or so and my wife was cleaning it gently with Windex (to get the grease off of it since it was also a range hood), when it stopped working completely. Be aware, LG and other uncool companies are making products that cannot be cleaned. It's sort of like buying a car that can't be waxed. It pretty much makes you never want to give their lousy company a dime again. I then bought a touch strip from an appliance repair site for cheap and repaired it myself. We now keep it in the garage (it's huge!), but at least we didn't lose the whole $1000 investment. There are videos on YouTube that will help you do that. However, my main point is that you should never buy LG products. I know I never will again. I won't even buy parts from them. That's what they want you to do!
We have lived in our house for 36 years and have had several micro-waves. Never had a problem reading the control panel before. With this LG, we have to keep a flashlight next to it so we can read the control panel. This is UNBELIEVABLE that they could design something with a flaw this bad. This is model LCRT1513. If they design something this bad, I will never buy an LG product again.
I purchased an over the range LG microwave from Home Depot. It was a reduced price display model, which I guess should have told me that it was a waste of money. Within a year, it stopped working four times (two of these times were within two days of each other). Since it was covered by the one year warranty, it didn't cost me anything, but it was frustrating to be without a microwave while waiting for it to be serviced. THEN... after the warranty expired, it stopped heating on two more occasions. Now, LG state that it would be $160 to have a technician come out to diagnose the problem.
I think a microwave that needs servicing six times in such a short period should have been replaced, but LG thinks I should just start paying the $160 per call out for the same, reoccurring problem. I spoke to a supervisor at headquarters who was very unhelpful and told me that the company should not have helped me as much as they did because it was a display model and its history was unknown. She was very combative and arrogant and probably doesn't even realize that she lacks even basic customer services skills and is in need of training. My only consolation is that she is a consumer too, and the same way she treated me, she will be treated at some point in her life. Further, I know now not to purchase another LG product. Hopefully I can save someone else from wasting their money on LG products like I did.
We did a remodel and purchased the microwave LMH2237, stove, dishwasher and refrigerator (ALL LG) - purchased in August 2015. All of the appliances were stored in the garage while the kitchen construction took place so nothing was installed until November 2015. These appliances are basically less than 7 months old and the microwave went out last night as I was defrosting and then turned on the fan. We checked our electrical panel but it was not the issue. I cannot believe I have to take a day off of work to wait for service to fix an item that has barely been used. DO NOT, and I repeat - DO NOT purchase the LG Microwave hood with fan - this model was made in China in July 2015. In fact, ALL AMERICANS should STOP buying crap made overseas and show these corporate greedy monglers that we will not buy crap!!!
Few days after purchasing LMHM2017ST, we would hear a squeaky noise from the turntable when on. It seemed just slightly bothersome then and so live with it.
A few months later, numbers on the touch keypad stopped working one by one. Now most of them don't work. Also many other buttons are not working. The fan and light buttons are also not working causing these features not be available anymore. Next, another issue cropped up - the microwave switches on, on its own, as soon as the door is opened. So there are now multiple problems in a short duration of gentle use.
I called LG customer service but they offered to send someone to fix these issues for a charge of $185 + tax. They would give only 60 days warranty and only on the services performed. They will not guarantee on anything else. It seems they know that there can arise even more problems in future. I bought this microwave because it looked good but other than that it turned out to be a crappy and expensive unit (over $500). I will not buy anything LG in future.
We purchased a microhood at Menards on 04/16/2016. It was to replace a GE microwave which had been over the stove for a number of years. This LG microhood worked for 3 weeks and when I put vegetables in to reheat one day it just didn't heat. I talked to Menards and they said it was up to me to contact LG warranty issues. Trying to understand foreigners is extremely aggravating. Why doesn't anyone keep the jobs in the USA anymore? He had me unplug the microhood to reset it and when that didn't work, tried to find someone to repair it. He was unsuccessful finding a business to work on this product. So now I am stuck waiting for repair scheduling to contact me in a number of days. I need this microwave now!
As far as I am concerned this company no longer exists. I am looking at having to purchase a new washer and kitchen range within the next little while and it will not be an LG. My husband works at a car manufacturer where hundreds of people work and we are going to make sure other employees are forewarned about this company. We certainly never expected to get less than a month's use from an LG product.
DANGEROUS MICROWAVE! Not even a year old and some interior paint chipped after approx. 6 mos. of this brand new LG Microwave. It caused sparking and smelled like something was burning. It more than likely could have caught fire if I didn't catch it right away by pressing "Stop" on the control panel. There was exposed metal inside around the door area where the paint chipped. I didn't return it cause I lost the receipt (I have bank info cause I paid with my Debit Card). I never purchase insurance cause I have been ripped off so much with that. I can't afford to buy another microwave so I put some appliance paint on the chipped area let it dry overnight. It did work, however a few months later it chipped and again MORE SPARKING in a different area. Repeated the process with the appliance paint and again it worked. Shouldn't have to worry about this. I don't walk away when using this microwave cause it's DANGEROUS!
I was also unhappy with this LG Microwave due to it being LOUD, HARD TO SEE CONTROL PANEL, COOKS VERY HOT (OVERCOOKS USING THE CONTROL PANELS TIMED COOKING & TEMP eg... Potatoes, Popcorn etc. I did read reviews prior to purchasing and some of the issues can be overcome, however not the FIRE HAZARD ISSUE! I was surprised to see 4-5 star reviews. I truly believe they are filtered cause I tried to place this review on LG's site and it was not posted? Consumers need to know "Buyer Beware".
On 3/5/16 while cooking a potato in my microwave, the unit started on fire. The microwave shut off and I needed to wait for the fire to burn out before opening the door. It was obvious the unit was irreparable. I contacted LG Customer Service in 3/7/16. At first, they tried to tell me I was to blame. "Misuse of an appliance" because I placed the potato on a paper towel. The manual states a paper towel, paper napkin, paper plate are ALL acceptable. The CSR refused to believe me until she read it herself. Finally, she agreed I was NOT at fault and told me someone would be in touch with me within the next 10 business days.
I uploaded photos of the damage as requested. 10 days later a rep from LG Property and Liability contacted me. "Please upload more photos," which I did. "Was there any other damage?" No. "Any loss of life due to the fire?" No. "Okay, well there's nothing I can do. You'll have to go back to Customer Service." Now I'm back to where I started again facing questions about misuse because of the paper towel. I was advised I would need to pay for an LG technician to come to my house to determine if it was repairable or a total loss. I didn't think I should be expected to pay for the technician since I already knew it's a total loss and the photos support that.
I asked for a manager. Theresa got on the line and told me the same thing except she said I would need the microwave receipt to show the technician. I explained this microwave along with a refrigerator and stove were purchased by the former homeowner just prior to my purchasing the home 3 years ago, so I did not have the receipt. "Well, there is NOTHING I can do for you. You're not the original owner." So after their appliance starts a fire, and 3 weeks of answering their questions, uploading photos, waiting for their assistance, I was advised I'm on my own. They will do nothing for me.
One and done is my motto now when it comes to LG appliances/electronics. This was the first and only time I will ever purchase ANYTHING from this manufacturer. We purchased an LG kitchen suite consisting of a refrigerator, stove, and microwave. All are on the fritz. Over half of the buttons on the microwave do not work which almost makes it unusable; the 1, 2, 3, and more. The "vent," "power," "light" and even more. The largest burner on the stove is gone and the refrigerator makes an odd noise (not the icemaker). We've had the appliances for only about 5 years so no more LG for me. It's just outside the warranty - how convenient for them.
I would give zero stars if I could. We bought all LG kitchen appliances less than 3 years ago. The oven and microwave are terrible. We are on our second microwave with them. I rarely use the microwave and while it was heating, it just shut off. It was most likely the circuit breaker and when that happens no reason to try to repair. We tried to buy another brand but we wanted to match and the sizes were off, so we spent another $300+ on an LG microwave and are crossing our fingers. The oven I never use because the temp is off. It's too hot and I either undercook or burn everything. I've even tried thermometers something is off. My old oven and microwave (not LG) lasted over 10 years and I had no complaints, none! These new products are expensive and terrible.
I will never buy another LG product again. This microwave needed major repairs within 18 months of my purchase. The first repair happened when it was still under warranty but I had to pay for service and when the second repair was needed, the warranty had expired. I called LG to ask for a warranty extension with the argument that a relatively new appliance should not need major repairs twice. In fact, the microwave I had replaced with the LG was over 10 years old and had never needed a repair. I replaced it because it was old looking and I was remodeling my kitchen. LG would not extend the warranty and the repair with service would cost more than replacing it. I argued that they should replace my microwave but was denied. Again, I will never buy an LG appliance again.
I bought LG model# LMV1683ST in 2012 from Best Buy. I pay around $250-$300 for my microwave. It was very loud and on 2016 it just stop working without a warning. This is a very bad product. I never overload it and it was only used by 2 people. I never overheat it, Max time heating was 10 min. Very short life product. This is a product to only buy for looks and nothing more.
Put food in microwave, pressed the EZ ON BUTTON which will heat food for 30 seconds. The microwave started for about 1 second and then immediately just died. After about a minute it powered on was asking for the clock setting. It acted like it does when the power goes out. This microwave did this one time yesterday also. I entered and set the clock time and then input 1 minute time and, almost as soon as I pressed the start button, the microwave died again only this time it did not revive. It appears to be completely dead and is only about 16 months old (purchased October 2014).
This is the first LG appliance I have ever owned and likely will be the last. I paid good money for this appliance and wish I hadn't thrown out the old one. It was rusted some inside but had been working for almost 20 years!! This stainless microwave model number(s) listed on instruction booklet: LCRT2010ST, LSRM2010ST. So very disappointed. Made in China. Maybe that's why.
Microwave is 2 years old and the mag tube, diode and cap have failed. Over $250 for repair. This microwave has had limited use. Only warming and reheating. I was told that microwave ovens are now disposable. If it was on the counter, I would throw it away but since is mounted, it would cost more to replace it. I will never buy LG again. Model lmh2016st/01.
On April 2012, we purchased an LG over-the-stove microwave Model LMH2016ST for $320. The warranty was only good for one year but we thought we were buying a good product so went ahead and purchased it. On August 2015, the Primary Interlock Switch on the door broke so we called a recommended appliance repairman who replaced it for a total of $170.75. The same switch broke again on February 2016, one year later, and the same repairman told us he has to order a new part and this will cost another $170.75.
I called LG Company and registered a complaint about this happening twice and they told me I should have paid attention to the one year warranty at the time of purchase. They do not stand behind their products. We will not repair this microwave because we have already put $237 into this product that appears to be a lemon. This is the last LG product of any kind that we will purchase. We also had a brand new $3000 refrigerator break down the first week we purchased it. Luckily that very expensive part was covered by the warranty at the time. So far, our LG Range is still working. We have lost all confidence in LG products and will not buy anything else from this company.
Microwave LMV168SW, SB or ST this morning gone. Hardly used. We bought Smart TV, range top line, dryer, Refrigerator top line, (super bad), washer bleach didn't work with white but damage light colors, 3 X new washer. Now the Micro. Not help. BESTBUY.
I purchased a LG over the range microwave in 2012. Within a year, the magnetron failed and microwave quit working. Warranty repaired it. Now the door switch has failed, microwave again does not work. Has been repaired but no longer on warranty and LG will not cover the cost. My microwave is mid range in cost approximately $500 and now it has cost me another $171. This is within 3 years. Pretty expensive I would say. I may as well have bought a low end generic model for a few hundred dollars. I would have had the same amount of use but without the cost. I will not be purchasing another LG appliance.
We bought an LG microwave model LMV1683ST. It was manufactured in December 2012. The top of the microwave caught on fire near the light inside. This is very dangerous to say the least. We purchased the microwave at Home Depot. Avoid this model at all costs. It looks good but it's also very loud.
Very clean looking microwave with many features that my previous microwave did not have. I like the different auto selections and the fact that this microwave has a rack as well as a turntable.
I've had this unit for about 15 years and am planning on upgrading to convection/microwave. But only because I'd like convection too, it's a great unit and has never let me down. It is an LG Intellowave Sensor, and has extremely useful settings for both cooking and defrosting.
It was to replace our old one, which we loved. This one doesn't have as many features as that one, but it does what we need it to do, so we are pretty happy with it.
I had to get this microwave because it was the only silver microwave of its size for my mini kitchen. I read reviews before I purchased that said it was an average microwave. That is exactly what it is. It's very loud and has very basic features but it matches my kitchen and looks good.
Bought a microwave in Canada in November to bring south for the winter as we are Canadian snowbirds. Arrived in Yuma, Az and about 2 weeks after arrival the microwave quit working. There is a manufacturing date of July 2015 stamped right on the microwave but all my paperwork for purchase is in Canada. I phoned LG and without the paperwork they will do nothing. I tried desperately to get some paper work from Canada but was unable to get. I therefore have to go buy another microwave to get me through the winter. I can get the micro repaired when I get back to Canada in April and produce the paperwork but then I'll have 2 microwaves which doesn't make much sense. I asked the LG person that I phoned how they could not just repair it when the manufacture date is stamped right on it. NO EXCEPTIONS he said. This to me is absolutely ridiculous. I will never buy another LG product as long as I live.
After 1 year, 5 months of light use, microwave broke. Could be the Magnetron, which has a 10 year warranty, but the service call to see if it is the Magnetron costs almost as much as the microwave and if it isn't the Magnetron, well? All microwaves that I have purchased in my life have lasted until I moved or gave them away. LG Microwave? PITIFUL!!!
We bought a Microwave Model LMS1190ST on May 2014. When I'm using microwave it will turn on and stop for 10-15 seconds. Then it will turn on again and you can hear a hissing sound inside the oven. Scary crap. Don't buy any LG product.
Purchased an LG LMV1813ST/02 microwave on 26 June 2013 for about $250. This over the stove model stopped heating on 9 Nov 2015. The warranty was 1 year, except magnetron that was 10 years. Contacted LG and went through steps to restart MV. Was then told it needed a tech to repair it. I was given two local authorized LG shops. One did not work on microwaves, and the other wanted a bench charge of $95 plus parts and labor to fix it even though I dismounted it and brought it to their facility! It is almost cheaper to buy another microwave. I equipped my home with all LG products. I hope they did a better job on the washer, dryer, dishwasher, and stove. I am sorry I went with LG.
We purchased an LG microwave from Home Depot less than two years ago Model LMV1683SW/SB/ST. It stopped working. Everything worked on it, but would not cook anything. I called customer service, they said they would take care of the problem for $165.00 with no other options. No way. I called Home Depot and they said they might do something for us tomorrow. Will see. No more LG anything.
I bought a LG Over the oven Microwave about two years ago. It just suddenly started to burn the roof of the microwave after normal use. The is a hazard and this product should have been recalled as when I called they knew all about it. I've been trying to work with LG Customer Support to get a service provider to fix it as they will not replace it. It's been about a month now. Very incapable Customer Support. I will never buy another LG product. And I will also tell everyone not to buy their products.
Oh boy!!! Thank goodness i read these reviews. A few weeks ago i cooked spaghetti and the lg micro above the stove stopped working - control panel out except for : showing. Inside light still on. Left it alone and next morning i played around with door. Voila - number 8 came up on its own. Then one by one things began working again. Last night i cooked spaghetti again. Yep - did it again. Mind you - i am NOT using the micro to cook. But the micro gets so hot from the oven and i believe overheats the micro panel. Again, i unplugged it and went to bed.
This morning it again took some fiddling and eventually a beep. So i was able to turn on the light (my main purpose in needing it to work - i need a light on that side of the kitchen). So i reset the time, etc. But as i am reading these scary reviews, the number 2 just popped onto the screen. After reading these reviews, i know it will eventually stop all together. But why i am SO glad that i read these comments is that i will now unplug it whenever i go out or go to bed at night. LG needs to step up to the plate and do a mass recall with a free replacement of another brand until they can get it right. Obviously no one wants another one of these. Who is with me on a class action suit?
Thank you all for taking the time to report the extreme dangers of this unit. You probably just saved my house from burning down!!
I bought a LG Over the oven Microwave about two years ago. It just suddenly died on me after gentle use. I went to heat up a small meal and realized the thing was totally dead. It did not show the time, the inside light was not on - nothing. I checked my house power outlet to make sure it was ok and it was. So, it was the microwave that was not working. I will never buy another LG product. And I will also tell everyone not to buy their products.
After one year and 4 months of gentle use, my LG over the counter microwave's magnetron failed. When I contacted LG, they said the magnetron part was under a 10 year warranty but that they would have to charge my labor by only their certified technicians. The cost amounted to the purchase of a new microwave. Therefore I and many others will be dumping even more cheap Chinese made appliances into our diminishing landfills. Scandalous!
I've read plenty of horror stories about LG's microwaves on this website, to include how bad the customer service is. I purchased my LG LMV1683ST /00 over-the-range microwave in 2014 (product was manufactured June 2013). Since then, we have had the control board (LED's burnt out) and the turntable motor (really bad squeal) replaced (in the first year!), and I just had the control board replaced again, today (when you close the door the internal light turns on, and turntable spins, even though I didn't command them to). I was able to get the warranty work done by contacting Lowe's (where it was purchased), and they sent out repairmen in a timely manner. For the latest repair, I had to contact LG directly.
After reading reviews of other people's experiences dealing with customer service, I decided not to deal with them, and instead, requested to be immediately transferred to a supervisor. I explained (in a calm, not demanding manner) how this unit has already had 2 repairs, and now needs another one. He understood my concerns, and setup an appointment for a repairman to come out, at no charge. I stated that I thought the issue was the control board again. The repairman came today (LG repairman), was very personable, and had a new control board in hand. Microwave was repaired in 10 minutes, and we're back up and running. In summary, the customer service experience was good (because I spoke directly with a supervisor), but the quality of the product is substandard. Let's see how long it takes for something else to fail.
I purchased an LG microwave for nearly $250.00 and it's been replaced twice by Home Depot, making this the third unit to electrically fail with smoke coming from its internals after only a 45 second operating cycle. LG was contacted and initially stated that I would be responsible for taking the faulty unit to their authorized repair center in Chino Hills, Ca. - about 15 or 20 miles from my home - and pay for the repair.
I informed them that I had taken the liberty of visiting this website and discovered that there appears to be some sort of electrical defect in their microwave considering the number of failures, the description of the failures and the short period of time between its purchase and the apparent electrical collapse of their product. In my experience, an item with a record this poor should be on some sort of safety recall list before it causes an injury or fire, but I've not been advised of any such recall by either of the two customer service personnel I contacted during the course of our conversations on August 21, 2015.
After being placed on hold for an eternity, and refusing to be blown off with what I can only describe as double speak, I informed the initial customer service person and the subsequent one that here in California there are regulations in place to protect consumers against abuses by big corporations with a bait and switch approach to consumer sales. According to this customer service contact, LG boasts their Magnetron has a 10 year warranty but to capitalize on this claim, the consumer must first pay for the "labor" involved which usually is a large portion of the initial cost of the unit!
I have opened a claim or "case" # of ** with the assisting personnel who now report that there will be either a refund/credit or replacement within 6-8 weeks but they could not elaborate on which. In the interim, I'm left without a microwave for the duration. If LG does the right thing, I'll report it, if not I'll provide that information as well.
I purchased a microwave for 250 dollars a year and a half ago thinking a big company like LG would not put out garbage. Let's face it 250 today for a microwave is a lot considering they go for like 90 dollars. Well anyway the whole thing blew out, I call LG and they me it has a one year warranty so I would responsible to fix it. The hell with. I will never buy a LG product again. I will throw this piece of crap out and buy another one from a company who stands behind what they sell
I have had 4 LG microwave ovens and always had the same problem with transformer overheating and smoke coming from unit which sets off the fire alarm. I think a recall should be done as I find this is a main fault which should have emergency recall before a fire is caused to homes.
I have an LG microwave that I bought in 2013 at Sears. Yesterday I was using the timer when I heard it turn on. I tried turning it off but nothing worked until I unplugged it. The unit was hot to the touch. If I had not been home when this happened I'm sure it would have started a fire. The other thing that scared me was I was able to open the door while the unit was running which left a funny taste in my mouth for a few hours. I'm not sure I have a receipt but if I can find one how would I submit it?
LG Microwave Model # LMH2016St Serial # 212 AQP3 X244 purchased on 2/13/2013 from HHGregg costing $338.99 with installation costing $149.99 plus taxes at $16.95 has blown a fan and melted the cover on the fan. It seems to me that a microwave that cost that much should last longer than 2 and 1/2 years. I would not recommend an LG product from my experience. The company offers no help at all in regards to this problem.
Our LG microwave was manufactured in Feb 2013. We purchased and installed it in April of 2013. Power Board failed in 2014 just out of warranty. Like previous writers, charged a service fee and replacement part fee. One year later (2015) power board failed. The service people were good but the LG product is bad. We will not purchase another LG Microwave.
Our unit is about a year and a half old, we have not used it much, it is the type that mounts over the stove. I noticed a piece of black plastic on the stove top, it came from the microwave's door, after further inspection I see many hairline cracks on the bottom segment of the door, just a matter of time before it falls apart. The door of a microwave is very important, it prevents microwave radiation from getting out of the microwave. There used to be very strict guidelines on the way the doors were constructed and life tested, just for this reason. I do not know how LG's door could have passed any life test.
The LG over-the-range microwave MODEL LMV1683ST caught on fire. This appliance was manufactured in December 2014 and I purchased it at Lowe's in March 2015. On July 3, 2015 the unit started sparking and smoking and then flames started shooting inside the unit. 4 months old and LG thinks it might be repairable. I don't want that unit in my house. I have spend several hours cumulatively on the phone trying to get a new unit. The unit only cost $200, yet they have sent repair people to my home. The cost of the repair time has exceeded the cost of goods and out of frustration, LG has created a consumer that will never buy another LG product. The poor Customer Service Reps must hate their job. They are not empowered to really help the consumer. It seems to me that LG has a lot to learn about customer satisfaction.
This microwave caught fire while steaming vegetables. We heard a snapping sound followed by the entire inside space bursting into flames. I was able to extinguish with no damage except to the microwave. Since the unit was only 10 months old and still under warranty I called LG. Their response was immediate and a technician (tech) was at our home the next day. Upon arrival and inspection he made a few comments: (1) Why did we clean up the damages inside the unit? (2) What happened? (3) I need to call home office to talk to inside Tech.
He made the call as we stood there and a Tech on the phone asked him to send a video from his phone with instructions from the Tech on the phone. Once completed he hung up and said this unit is fried and needs to be replaced but two Techs from home office had to review. Ten minutes later they called back saying it was customer error due to GREASE FIRE and they would not repair or replace.
My only choice was to escalate the claim to LG management which I did. After sending them store receipt I asked for the denial and reason in writing which they absolutely refused to give me. The next day they emailed me to say they set up a "Return Authorization Review" and I should hear from them within 2-3 business days. It is now five business days with no response!
I went to the store where I purchased the LG microwave, gave them my notes and asked for help. Once reviewed by store and they seen what LG was putting me through they said they would replace the unit. Would you buy another LG product after reading about this runaround? I would not but I certainly will purchase again from Best Buy as they stood behind a product that the manufacturer, LG in this case, would not.
The microwave cracked pieces went into food I was cooking. I made at least 5 calls to LG co. They said they would send someone out to fix it, no one came. This happened every time I called. I called Best Buy where it was bought, they wanted us to take it down and deliver to their geek squad. I only own this microwave for 6 months when it cracked. To this day I'm stuck with a microwave that is still cracking and LG will not help us out to either fix this one or give us another. I also bought an LG double oven range the same day, it also has a peace of oven glass chip, and still LG will do nothing on that issue.
LG microwave quit working 1 1/2 years after purchase! I also bought a refrigerator at the same time!! Called LG support and was given a number for a repair service. Called Tarheel Appliance and Repair and was quoted $70 for someone to come out plus the cost of repairing the microwave which was going to put the cost well over $100! Tarheel Appliance suggested that I call LG back to see if they would extended the warranty since the microwave was just out of warranty. I was told that the warranty would not be extended!! Do not by an LG microwave! Quality is not there!! My previous microwave I had lasted over 15 years. I also bought a wireless LG headset that has quit working in 6 months too!!
On 9-27-13 bought microwave oven model lcrt201st. Have 7 months it would trip surge strip shut off completely. I warm my coffee for 70 seconds but it would shut off after 30 seconds. I like my coffee hot. It kept doing this so I called LG support. Was told malfunction in keypad and to take it back where I bought it. I DID this on 4-23-15, model # same. All ok till today 7-17-15 it DID it again. I again called LG support and was told I would have to take it to one of their service centers all pa, North Jersey, Delaware. I shouldn't have to drive around the world to get a problem solved. I am not getting another LG product. I was told I can take to Best Buy and they will give me a new one. Ok but then in 3 to 7 months I'M going to go thru this again. No way.
My wife and I bought all LG appliances for our kitchen remodel from Lowe's. After only 3 1/2 weeks and about 12-15 uses the microwave died. No display nothing. I verified power to the microwave but display is just dead. After a scathing call to Lowe's they agreed to pick it up and deliver a new one when they get their order in a couple weeks.
The LG over the range microwave MODELLMV1683ST stopped heating. This appliance was manufactured in April 2014 and I purchased it at Home Depot in May 2014 and in June 2015 it no longer heats. Can I get some help?
Purchased LG appliance package from Home Depot 11/12/11. June of 2015 the microwave blew up and will not function. Contacted a repairman who was told by LG service this microwave was no longer manufactured and no parts available. I purchased a new microwave only to find out that I can no longer get a microwave with the dimensions of 29 1/2"L x 15 1/2"H x 15"D. Unfortunately, we have previously installed new glass backsplash tiles which will have to be cut to fit a new microwave. These were special order tiles! When I contacted LG, I was told, "Sorry, we now have a throw away society." This was after 3 different calls to customer service and being told my case was in for review! Also concerned about larger dimensions leaving only 13 3/4" clearance between stovetop and microwave.
Lg microwave model # lcrt2010st - Stopped heating 1 yr. after purchase date. Call customer service and it was like calling a bush in my front yard.. No help at all. Miraculously stopped working 1 year after purchase. NEVER BUYING LG ANYTHING AGAIN!!!
To: The Manufacturers of Over-The-Range Microwaves. PLEASE, downsize. They keep getting bigger and bigger and bigger, to the point where I have to replace my beautiful expensive cabinets in order to accommodate the darn microwave. And from what I've read on the internet, I am not the only one. It definitely looks like there is market for them that is NOT being fulfilled. Can one of the manufacturers please step up to the plate on this? Why is it that I can find a counter top microwave that is only 10-14" high, but when I look for an OTR it's 16" and up.
