The Kinetico salesman was good enough to answer all of our questions. He was also knowledgeable and helpful. We took his recommendation on the product that best fits our needs. He sent the order in that morning. By the next day, we had gotten an email from the installation group telling us what times were available. It was very easy. The installation of our Kinetico water softener was very easy. The gentleman that came and did it was very knowledgeable and friendly. He clearly knew what he was doing. He wasn't there very long. He was very thorough and asked multiple times if I had questions. It was a very good experience.

We had Kinetico before and we were happy with it. It had been a reliable product and lasted about 30 years. The technology had changed and improved, so it couldn't be repaired. We replaced it with another Kinetico system. The system is a little spendy, but if you amortize it over the period of time you’re gonna have it, it’s not bad. There was a little gap in there of two or three months and you could notice the feel of the water. The system makes a difference. On this one, you can see the filter that's in there because it's in a transparent plastic container. They were saying when I see the thing getting dark, I should take it, rinse it out, and put it back in there.

The company was really good and the products are really efficient. The representative was very informative. He answered all my questions, and he was really good. The technician was really good, but we had some issues. He said that he wasn't told that he was gonna have to go under the house to do the installation. The representative told me that Kinetico has different types of installs. He had made notes and I saw him typing this stuff out, so I don't know what happened. I don't know if it was supposed to be installed differently, but the hoses are on the ground. The installer didn't know that he had to connect the water to the icebox, so they had to come back and do that later.

The outside water was supposed to stay regular, and they connected it to the water softener. We told them about that, so he made a separate line, but he put it into the siding of the house on the bottom. But when they put it in there, it's not secure. So when my wife and I got it watering the grass or plants, it moves around. We complained about that and they said they were gonna come out and fix it, but no one ever came back out. The customer service was not very good. I had to go online to call the 1-866 number. The filters went out on the under the sink system, and for about a week, we were calling the local company here to get them to come out or order the filters, but we couldn't get ahold of anybody. We just kept getting voicemails. When I called back within a day or two, I got a callback. But they didn't have the filter, so I just picked them up yesterday.

I have a full rainwater capture system on my house and I had a water softener put in as a backup system to it. There is very little maintenance. I just have to cycle it once every often. The reps from Kinetico did a good job setting that up and I had no problems with the installers. All was good.

The system seems to be working fine. We now have softer water and we don't have the stains on the glass that we had before.

Everything's been good. I have to call and ask how often I need to be putting salt in because it's been a year, I haven't put salt in. I checked on it a week ago and it's still half full of salt. I hear it go through its cycles but I feel like I should have to put salt in.

I had Kinetico in my other house and I've been a customer for probably 17 years. This latest time, I purchased the whole house system, and I had an RO system for drinking water. The installers were friendly, professional, and fast. What I like about the system best is it recharges only when needed and not on a clock timer. With the system, there's a lot of differences with soft water. You don't have the calcium stains and the problems with plumbing.

Kinetico is a very good product. It's not cheap, but it's probably the best that I know of.

The follow through was good when I was setting up the appointment with Kinetico. We also needed additional new faucets out here that the installers didn't bring with them so the lady from the office brought it right out so we could get it installed on the same day. It worked out well. Dealing with Kinetico reps has always been positive. We have plenty of experiences with bad water from Arizona, Idaho, and Iowa. So, we've always had Kinetico systems throughout all of those different homes. There were all kinds of debris in the water in Arizona and it was significantly improved. The whole house filter would have to be cleaned every three months, and that would be the same color as the ground after what it was filtering out of the water system. Other than excellent service, we appreciate Kinetico and that's the only system we would ever purchase. The experience was professional and it was a terrific installation.

I had hard water at the house right when we moved in. I did a Google research and Kinetico came up. I called them and the rep I had was the best. During the test, we found that we had some iron and hard water, though not terribly hard. We got the 230 model and it's a big one. It’s got a big barrel and two tanks. It's a closed system that's self-cleaning and self-maintenance. Once every two to three months, I just add salt.

Our water now tastes like it had been put through a filter. I've been happy with the system. It’s been pretty good so far and the service was good. The guys did a great installation. Once we placed our order, the installation happened the following week and they installed the system within a couple of hours. They were pretty quick. Give Kinetico a shot and let them come out and give you an assessment.

Kinetico seemed they had more information about their company. They were expensive but a safer bet. They came out the day they said they would. The reverse osmosis itself, I'm not a huge fan of it. Try it out first to see if you like it. Filters are expensive for the amount, since it has almost been one year. The amount of water that I use out of it would require two maintenances. So, it would need two sets of filters every six months. And the maintenance plan that I got with them only covers for one of that. And considering those prices of those filters for the reverse osmosis by itself, it's not worth it. If they extend it to two times a year for that maintenance plan, that would be better. But the products are very high quality. Also, there are a lot less of that pink stains that happen around the toilet rings and showers. So, the iron was reduced. I would recommend Kinetico.

I had my whole bathroom remodeled, and it's custom. The tile was dark. The hard water was leaving a lot of that mineral stuff everywhere. It was making my expensive remodel look bad. I had Kinetico installed and my bathroom is beautiful again. I also got one where it’s installed on my sink. I don't have to buy bottled water anymore. The lady that came out was very knowledgeable and professional. Both my wife and I liked her a lot. She sold the product well.

The rep who did the water test was Patrick and he was great. I've worked with him before and I've been very impressed with him. The installation went really well. There was an issue with a small leak but they fixed and repaired it. There was too much glue where the threads tightened and they had to remove the glue and retighten. There's a huge difference in the water since having the system -- taste, feel, no rough stains.

Michael, the salesman, was a nice gentleman. The only complaint I have is he was supposed to come back and test our water afterward and he had not come back to do that. My wife wanted to make sure the RO system was working properly and he's tried to come out once or twice but did not make it. It’s not been a high priority of mine to make sure he’s there, nor has it been his to follow up with me. That's my only disappointment. Other than that, the system is better for us and the longevity of our appliances.

They were very helpful. We built the house on a well, so that was the whole reason for getting Kinetico. They were fairly easy to make an appointment with. They came out the day we moved in. The guy checked our water and explained everything to us. They were very good. The experience with installation was great. The water comes out clear. We have the drinking system too that goes right to our refrigerator. And that water is phenomenal.

They would come out and replace the filter on there and add salt to the tank as needed. Then seven months ago, I started getting a slight sulfur smell in my water. They came out and tested that and told me what the problem was and told me what I should do. I ended up holding off on it because it was so expensive. But then the sulfur smell went away. It's also nice having one of their stores fairly close so that I could just swing by any time to pick up a water filter when needed.

I got a water softener from Kinetico and we're not happy because we still have to use the Brita filter in order to be able to drink the water. Because the water smells like rotten eggs. It also has a lot of particles. They said, "That's just part of your area. You need to use water filter." I was also paying my bill to Kinetico and I paid it completely all off. But I received another bill two months after saying I still owed another month's time. I called them. I said, "No, I paid this off." The rep said, "Yes, you did. I see that here. Okay, so you do not owe it." But then here came the next month's bill cycle again, and I received another bill. I called them up and I said, "No, I've paid this off." The rep said, "You are right. I know I remember you calling me up. No, you do not. I will make sure that this time, it's taken off."

Kinetico response

Hi Julie,

Our records show a water installed for you in 2021. Water softeners are not sulfur treatment systems. We would advise asking your area dealer to identify if the odor is coming from the well or the water heater.

From the well requires treatment. From the water heater requires adjustments to the water heater.

Is your softener performing as designed? Soft, iron free water.

We are sorry for the billing errors from your dealer. We will touch base with the management team of your dealer to help resolve your concerns.

The systems generally works well. However, the one that we have at our current cottage is not the greatest because it doesn't have a digital readout whereas the other system we had did. It told us when it was going to regenerate. This is also more expensive. The thing that’s most troubling are stains in the sinks with rust, which was the main reason for getting the system. It makes me question how well the system is operating.

We live in the farm and on a well, so if we didn't have a water system, then we'd have rusty hard water. Kinetico’s customer service is good. Something wasn't working and the techs put in part of a different type of system.

We have always thought of Kinetico as the top product. We add salt and I put Silica balls in a little tub periodically. Kinetico offered service plans to us. It's not difficult for me to do it, so I do it on my own. I just keep an eye on it.

I had a lot of chlorine in my system and I was concerned about my health and skin. My wife and I are older people. My wife had some health issues in the past and I wanted to make sure that everything was good for her. I had a water system before, which was very good. Now we have Kinetico and our water is softer and cleaner.

Our rep was very good. But I was taken aback by him in the sense that he told me that he was going to bring the lid to cover my system to protect it from the sun and he never did that. Also, customer service needs improvement. I had some problems with the system and it seems that there were some rings around the tank that I saw had some leaking. They had to come out and replace two of the tanks because the water was spewing up from the leaking area. We make upgrades to the system if things like this happen.

One concern I had was they had to send the tanks back to the manufacturing company. I was charged $25 for the fee to send it back and I asked, “Why am I being charged $25 to send it back? I did nothing wrong.” I paid $25 both times because I had two tanks that we sent back. I was not pleased with that. I wasn't reimbursed. When I told the lady that I was going to contact Kinetico and let them know what was going on, she got upset. I told her I was not satisfied. I have called Kinetico before to express my dissatisfaction with what was going on.

Kinetico came and put the system in. It sits in the background. Every three months, I gotta get some salt and throw in it. Other than that, it's nothing going on. Working with the folks has been a very good experience for me. It's expensive when they come out and make a call, but that's about it. It has worked exactly as they said it would. The system is also expensive, but it works. What I bought was a deal to soften the water, and to put some treatment in because I have copper pipes and fittings in the house, and they eat through after a while so Kinetico put an additive filter in. That's the primary reason I got it, and they do the maintenance on it. Originally, it was done quarterly, now it's annually. They service it on time and they send pictures of who's coming to service the thing when it's time to service it.

Kinetico water system was already in our home when we moved here and we continued with the service. I like that the system works and it's simple. I like the whole thing. If I need anything, customer service is right on it. They get there just right away. They are wonderful and I love them. They have been so helpful. I get a text message every time they come to refill the salt or any time they come to the house. Go with Kinetico.

I got the water filter system for the whole house from Kinetico. It's expensive, but it's a good system. It was installed in two different phases and one of the guys who was here was super slow. Then, we had to have another guy come out and do another part. Since we got the system, the water has been much better.

We had a new osmosis system installed because we just had a little kitchen fire. It needed new filters and we tried to put it in but it wouldn't work. So, we called Kinetico and the techs came out and said there was something they had to fix on it. They did it right then, showed us how and made sure we knew how to put the filters in next time. They were all nice. It's been a good experience. The only thing is, Kinetico closes early some days. I get there and it's five till 4:00 and they would be closing in five minutes. I would prefer that they had one in Marion.

Kinetico's rep was knowledgeable. But they make the water filters to where you have to buy them from the actual company, and they're pricey. The closest store is 35 minutes away. So, even though it's a quality product, I wouldn't go with it again or recommend it.

Our well on our new property had failed. We got a Kinetico water system, and the sales was great. The service could be much improved. Their communication and their ability to get back into scheduled appointments could be improved. We would make appointments and they'd never show up. Then they would come two hours early and expect that we should be okay with that. There are just some challenges in the service side with the timing, and even just calling back if I would leave a voicemail message.

As far as the installation, the system was not set up in the same format and in the way that the salesperson said it could be. He said it could stay in a very compressed area or a small area, and it was a much larger footprint. The end product was not quite what we envisioned and it took up a lot more of the room downstairs than we had desired. The other thing is, one of the equipment pieces was faulty and it shut down our water system twice. In one of them, we had to pay for them to come out and service. Even though the service guy told us that it was a flaw in the system and they were taking lots of them out.

Kinetico is real expensive. It also goes through a lot of salt every month. I put two bags of salt monthly. I'm not sure how many drain plugs it’s supposed to have. I see one of them that’s not hooked up, but a lot of water comes out of it. It also froze up over the winter. We had to wait for it to thaw out then it came back on again. It needs better insulation. We built this little house that goes around it to hopefully keep it warm, but it didn't work. The lines that go outside all the way down along the side of the house are the ones that will freeze up and prevent water from going into the house.

On our refrigerator that has a water dispenser, if the water drips and it sits on it, it will dry up, and you can see a salt ring. When you put new salt into the system, it is salty for the first gallon. After that, it's okay. Everybody who has come to the house and see how the system works likes the idea. I like it mainly because it doesn't run off of the power system and it only runs when the water is running through it. It saves us money on that part.

The reps from Kinetico have been beyond par. I had to call them up recently, not even for an issue, but just to have a card switched over because I have a payment plan set up with them for the new system that they worked out to get me. The system in itself works out well. It's very easy and maintainable. It doesn't require electricity so, that's nice. I don't have to have it in a spot that has electrical plug and it all runs off water pressure. Plus, the water has been super soft. Kinetico has been awesome. I'd recommend them.

I had a plumber in my house for another reason and I addressed my problems with him. He said I have to contact Kinetico because he said it's because of Kinetico. My Kinetico system is in the basement and anytime I have my laundry done, when water is coming to my sink in the basement, or when in the morning it's scheduled time over there, I'm having tremendous sound coming out from the sink in my kitchen. That bad that actually wakes all house up and I have a huge house. It's really scary.

A couple of times, I just ran downstairs because I thought it was something like a bomb being over there. Another thing that I'm having is the smell of the water never stopped. Anytime I wash my face, I want to puke because of that smell in the water. I already called Kinetico a couple of times but they never resolved that issue, even though I have the additional, very expensive thing installed connected to the Kinetico. I'm not as happy with Kinetico so far. It's a very expensive system. I feel like it's a waste of money. The only thing that works for me is the filter for my drinking water, out of over $10,000 altogether I put into that system. It's disappointing.

We did both the reverse osmosis and the full house system. The install was quick. I was at work, but they were able to get over there and take care of it and be done in a day. Our water definitely has improved. The main things that we saw before we got Kinetico was the taste of the water and showering. It felt like the water was still there when we got done. It felt very hard and dirty. Now, things seem to wash better. It's not leaving marks on the dishwasher with the dishes, and we feel better in the shower. It doesn't feel like we're still dirty afterwards.

I would tell people about our experience and how good it's been. The biggest downside was that Kinetico tended to be the more expensive option, so it would just depend on their budget. Otherwise, we’d let people know that we've been very happy with what we've gotten so far. Kinetico also offered the zero interest loan to help out, but the cost was still the same regardless. It was just spread out over payments.

I like soft water much better. I use less shampoo and conditioner. I grew up with a water softener, so I'm used to the soft slick feeling. I'd recommend Kinetico just because of the salt savings. I've purchased two Kinetico systems. One of them was in Oregon, and the other one was, recently, in Utah. I was in the market for a water softener, and I knew I wanted a Kinetico system for the Utah one. They sent over their salesperson, and I said, "Look, I don't want the sales pitch." I didn't need to be sold on it, and it was a little awkward when they feel like they have to give it. Besides that, getting the system installed was very simple.

Purchased new Kinetico system in 2016 with purchase of new home. Recently had no water pressure, couldn’t figure out why until hit bypass on Kinetico system and it came back. Called Kinetico and couldn’t get tech out for >2 weeks. They came to our home (for $205) and told us we can replace it for $5500 or “change media” $1300. When we were sold this unit it was touted that it would last 10-20yrs and how great the service was, etc. We are a small household and our system is useless after only 7-8yrs. We have to buy new more expensive system or pay all sorts of money for media every few years? It’s not worth it. Very disappointed. Have had cheap softeners last longer and perform just as good.

Working with their reps is good. Our water was really hard. With the first system we had, there was a big difference. It cleaned everything up. I purchased a Kinetico two-tank system in 2014 and got a second one in 2021. It was the same set-up but I added an ice maker that they had at the time. I live in Texas and there's nothing but hard water and extremely hard water here. So it was either that or replace your appliance in every couple of years, so I decided to get a water system to take all that away. The place in San Antonio was the first company that answered my call so I went with them and it was great. In Harlingen, Texas where I live now, it’s absolutely horrible. If I would have had this experience the first time, I would have never bought Kinetico ever again.

There was nothing but lies in Harlingen. They said they didn't have any filters and other stuff, but they would give me a free upgrade. I didn't understand their upgrade because for the first time with the Kinetico system, I was getting a lot of white residue over everything. I asked them why and they said that it's because that filter puts all the minerals and everything back into the water. I asked what the purpose of their water treatment is if they're gonna put the minerals back in. That makes no sense to me so I made the rep take out that new filter that they said was higher-end and replaced it with the filter I had from the past. They don't tell you the full truth. When I bought the ice maker, it was shutting down every six months for them to come out and charge me $200 to clean it. I was there for every cleaning and there was nothing to clean. The system's clean now but I don't trust this company in Harlingen. I buy my filters online.

I’ve never seen the system being outside and the reps put it there, which I don’t like. They were just lazy. But the water is prime since I’ve had the system installed. There’s no smell in it. I don't like water but I will drink the water out of the RO. My dogs and birds only get RO water. They don't even get the soft water coming out of the regular faucet. So my family and I love the RO system and that RO system is what feeds our ice machine as well as our refrigerator. My wife likes it because it provides a better shower, too. She doesn't have to use as much shampoo and conditioner.

Hi Joseph,

The Kinetico K5 drinking water station significantly reduces chemical, metals and minerals that might be in a water supply. The reduction of minerals, metals and chemicals makes the water a solvent. Many people prefer the ability to add back calcium and magnesium to the water. This returns the water to a neutral pH. The purpose of the unit is to remove the unwanted and Kinetico provides the ability to add back in the wanted minerals. Of course, you do not need to use the mineral filter.

Outside installations are very common through out all the southern states. Regardless of the brand of water treatment used.

We are glad to see your water is 'prime' since having your water treatment products installed. Please feel free to contact Kinetico Customer Support directly at 800.944.9283 or customersupport@kinetico.com with concerns you may have.

The installation went without a hitch. The guys dug a hole and fixed it after they were done. It looks like it had never been messed with. It was great. Since having the system, there's no lime build-up in the showers and no smell in the water.

The installation of our Kinetico system was fine. We didn't have any problems getting the installer here, but he was a little bit disorganized and had to keep going away and coming back because he didn't have the right part or the right tool. We had some difficulty with the original filter that was installed at the point of service system at the outside of the house because that kept flushing carbon particles into our water for weeks. Eventually, it needed to be replaced and that wasn't great. But other than that, we've enjoyed having the system.

We're using it in a different place and I don't have to haul five-gallon bottles all over the place anymore, which is nice. However, it would be nice if there was an option to add a fluoride canister to put fluoride back into the water. Because it's frustrating to have to buy plastic bottles of water. We have a nice, expensive system here. But, I don't want my baby to have holes in his teeth. But I have been very happy with the product.

The installers from Kinetico gave me the whole scoop and they did what they needed to do. The installation was all very efficient and thorough. Recently, I had to have the whole thing worked on and it's been great. It was a combination of filter and the new tech kind of up the ante. I was on a five and they increased the system to seven. And since then, it's been fine. I've also had good response from Kinetico and they've been very supportive.

Gordon Brothers installed our Kinetico water system. They were wonderful. Nicole, the salesgirl that took care of us, put everything in order for us. She was great to work with and spoke with us every step of the way. She sent someone who had been doing th installation for many years. They explained everything to us. They were quick and clean. Our water is much softer with the system. I hate buying bottled water. I like the quality of the water. My husband does, too. He was the more picky one about it, but he has no complaints. I had a little bit of an issue with my skin and I've seen a difference. I would get very itchy after showering and it's not like that anymore at all.

I like the fact that the Kinetico system gives more water pressure than our old one did. The only thing I don't like about it is that I hear the sound of dripping regularly. But this one works better. I also got good service when I requested it. I also liked the people who did it.

Everybody over at the location at Manassas was really wonderful and friendly. I like how the rep, Randy, educated me on the difference between other water filtration systems. Also, I have an RO system and I like having the convenience of an RO system in the kitchen. I had two installers come by and the installation was a quick job. They showed me what to do and what to look for.

I'm not real happy with the system and I wish I had gone with a different one that treated more than just making the water soft. I have contacted Kinetico a couple of times and nothing was ever rectified. It's not worth it.

Kinetico response

Hi Dennis,

We are sorry to read of your displeasure. Your concerns have been reviewed with your area dealer.

Florida is notorious for hardness, tannins and sulfur. A water softener will do as it's named, it softens the water. Using citric acid and tannin resin in the softener, low levels of tannins can be addressed.

Sulfur does require additional treatment. We welcome you to contact Kinetico Customer Support directly at 800.944.9283 or customersupport@kinetico.com if you would like further information.

My water softener was 4 months past their 5 year warranty due to a problem with its control head. Their solution; replace my water softener. Why? Because they only give repair parts to units under warranty. Terrible business model, terrible company.

Hi Jerrell,

This is Jesse, the Customer Support representative you spoke with on Tuesday February 7th. My apologies, my impression when we talked was that you called simply to verify the length of the warranty and what is covered. We were left believing that you were not calling for help and had already made arrangements to replace the unit and all was well. I will call you shortly to discuss what we are able to do to assist with the Sumo softener that you have.

Changing the water filter used to be inexpensive, but now I pay 239 and it's a big job. Also, I used to buy a lot of bottled water to drink and I did the math and it's cheaper to buy bottled water than it is to change this the filter. At the end of the day, I just buy bottled water and I just use that more for cooking and stuff. But the product is wonderful and so are the people that we deal with. They've been extremely nice and always accommodating.

When we purchased our reverse osmosis unit from Kinetico, the sales rep was pretty cool. He came out and spent three hours running lines to our fridge into our sink and fiddling with the machine. He did a really good job. Our system consists of a black box on the wall and we put mineral stuff in it as often as recommended. The unit is in the basement near our sump pump and we go right down there to do it. It comes with the canister with the minerals that you just switch out. So far, the flavor of our water is less cluttered. With tap water, you can taste hoses, pipes, and chemicals. But with this water, you don't get that and it’s more clean.

The water softener is another deal. I love that thing and it is a machine saver. Everybody has problems with mineral buildup in their dishwashers, and their washing machines go out really fast. But ours are solid because the water doesn't have clutter in it. I also noticed that there's less buildup on my hair when I shower. And the soap lathers and washes off so much better. With the way the minerals are in the water in this area, I'd tell everybody to get a Kinetico water softener for the longevity of their appliances, enjoyment of showers, and to make it easier to clean the kitchen and bathrooms.

Thanks Gwen! Glad you're enjoying your water!

The sales rep of Kinetico was very good and knowledgeable. The technician who came out was very good too. I had a couple of follow-ups and it was excellent. The installation was also excellent. The installers were on time and they tested the whole house to make sure that it was connected. We went to six bathrooms and sinks. We noticed that the main sink, which is the kitchen sink, the water’s still coming. We ended up finding out that the main sink was not connected to the water softener. If we didn't do that test, we would probably still have no filtered water in my main sink. I love everything about Kinetico. It's an excellent system. I highly recommend Kinetico and I recommended it to six people. However, only one of them went because it was just too pricey.

I've always had a Kinetico system, and I've been completely satisfied with them, not only with their products but with the local Kinetico dealer as well. I first heard about Kinetico back in 1999 for a water softener for a new construction home. In 2006, I bought my first reverse osmosis system, and I'm on my fourth one now. I keep moving, so I keep having to change it. My system is for the kitchen sink for as far as the drinking system goes. When the filters go, it stops working, and I pick one up. There are two filters in it and I replace them, which is not that difficult.

We had moved into a new house and it's on well water. There was a sulfur smell. In addition to that, we had the normal problems of iron in the water. My wife had done some online research. Then we found Mermaid Water. We called them up and they told me about the Kinetico systems when they came. We needed to get the three Kinetico systems. The installers were great.

The Kinetico system definitely took care of all the concerns with the smell. There's one issue we have every now and then with some dark sediment. We tried to narrow it down. Mermaid has been out a couple of times to figure it out. We can't figure out what it is. I don't know if it's the system or what. But the water quality has been good. It's also easy to maintain. It's convenient and does its job. We've been happy with Kinetico.

I refer all my people who ask me about my system to Kinetico. I had a new system installed and their service was good as always. I also have no issues so far. With Kinetico, I know what to expect. The water will eventually get softer. But all my other homes have been brand new homes. This system is two years old so I can see a little bit change in the dishwasher and the hardness is starting to come off of the side plates of it.

I had a 20 yr old Kinetico system which was great. I replaced it with the same but new system. Shortly thereafter I started having a hard water problem. They tested my system & said it now needed an additional tank as something changed in the water table. Fine, I had that new tank installed. The installer neglected to insert the hose into the drain so when the system cleansed itself the waste water went all over the carpet in my finished basement & also destroyed my new ceiling tiles stored nearby. They came back to insert the hose in the drain (which I already did) & said that they need to anchor it.

After they left, I looked & the serviceman had kinked the hose so no water could pass. I had to go to the hardware, get a new fitting & fix it myself. I called & wrote to the company & they said they'd take care of cleaning my carpet & replacing by destroyed ceiling tiles. I sent them the invoices, called, left VM messages but after weeks of doing so, I'm only getting ignored. This could have been a good resolve but I'm hugely upset with their lack of attention to loyal customers. Looks like I'll have to go to small claims court to get paid back.

Hello Thomas,

We have tried to reach you via email to further discuss these concerns. We are sorry we have not been able to connect.

Your history has been thoroughly reviewed by our management team. We show equipment installed in 1995, 2017 and 2022.

We respectfully disagree with your assessment of horrible service over the course of 28 years. There are many discrepancies in your description of the events which we have no need to air publicly.

Suffice it to say, your 1 service concern over the course of 28 years was addressed properly, the issue was site related and your rating is found to be incorrect and unfair.

Rest assured, Kinetico values you as a customer and will continue to take care of all your water treatment needs for another 28 years.

Best wishes

I saw the sales rep at the county fair and he said that Kinetico has a patented system where they use water pressure instead of air pressure to move your water, so it always flows at a faster speed. That was what I needed so he came over and quoted it for me. He showed me the system and that they could even put it down in the basement so I didn't have it underneath the sink, which gave me a bunch of room. We got the filtration water system for drinking water and dealing with the installation team was good. There was a little bit of a breakdown in communication between the sales guy and the installer. He missed one thing. But other than that, it went well.

The guys did a really good job when they installed my Kinetico system and they explained everything pretty well. It's complicated, so they put as much effort into explaining things to me as they figured I could handle. I wish it didn't cost quite so much though. The system I had was pretty much the same thing but older. Also, they charge way too much for their filters. I've got a reverse osmosis system that they put on, that for just two filters they charged $250. Maybe that would last for a year but $250 for two filters is a lot of money.

I went with Kinetico's water softener and the reverse osmosis. I already had an existing water softener but it went out, and it was one of the big box stores, and I wanted something a little bit more durable, something that was gonna last me a little bit longer. Kinetico is local here in San Antonio. I had about four different companies, but I chose Kinetico based on reviews and friends of mine that also had them installed.

The representatives from Kinetico were horrible. The salesman quoted me a price with everything together, the reverse osmosis and then the water softener itself. Then he gave me a different quote if I were to pay it outright rather than through installments. When I called him back and I told him the price for paying it outright, not having to finance, he changed the tune and told me that that was not the exact price if you paid it outright.

I said, "Well, you have it written there on the pamphlet. Why would you have written it here? And I have it here." He started telling me, "Well, if I give it to you at that price, I'm gonna wind up losing my commission. And I'm not gonna get that much commission." So, that told me Kinetico employees work off commissions. He said, "If I give it to you that price, I'm not gonna wind up with a good commission." I said, "Okay. I can only give you another $100 off of what you offered me." He was upset, and he said, "That's fine, that's fine. I just won't get a commission." We left it at that.

I have not heard from Kinetico since I purchased the system. I thought somebody, as much as I spent, would have called and said, "Hey, how's everything been? How's the machine? Do you like it?" There was nothing. When the tech brought me the system, I said, "Is this a new water softener, or is it one of the used ones that y'all had in other people's houses that y'all letting me try?" He looked at me and he wouldn't talk to me at all while he was installing. After he installed it, he said, "Do you have any questions?" He was a little upset. He may be kind of offended but when you're paying $5,100 for a system, you wanna know what you're getting. I don't see how hard it was for him just to explain that it was a new system. I didn't bother talking to him at all throughout the whole process, and I was just glad he left.

Overall, Kinetico is an expensive water softener system and their customer service was really horrible. They could use maybe some training on that. As far as hearing the guy complain and cry about he's gonna lose his commission, I don't care. I was out here to get me a system and that's what I was trying to do. As far as recommending them, I told people I'd probably go with Culligan or Alamo Water Softener systems rather than Kinetico because of the experience that I had.

There was nothing wrong as he was given options including an K5 at no charge (promo) with the purchase of a water softener. I use a lot of softening water when I spray in the farm, so I want a heavy-duty unit and that was what I was doing. I've had Kinetico for 20 years, and Dick, my agent, was great, but then he retired. The guy that is now handling it, the only guy in this area, put in a Kinetico, and it was poor installation. The guy is unqualified to do that service. He didn't even check the unit till four months later, then he discovered it was leaking water. It cost me 75,000 gallons of water. I finally called corporate to get my money back for that softener and get the guy to take it out. He came slamming, banging out here mad that I called him. He was rude, inconsiderate and bad.

I like Kinetico's product, but I will not have anything to do with it because I took the softener out. I still have the RO unit right now, and I'm concerned about service for that because the way Kinetico's sales things do, they won't let me go to another dealer. I would get Kinetico, but I won't with the dealer that's in Fargo. The service guy hasn't even bothered to call me about my RO unit, which will need some attention sometime later. If my RO unit fails, I will not go back to Kinetico. I will buy another one somewhere else.

Kinetico response

Hi Jerry,

The next nearest dealer that can assist with providing you service is Aquarius Home Services. They can be reached at 888.741.9025. They are located in Alexandria.

There are no Kinetico policies stopping you from using another dealer. Please note that we are not the dealer's corporate office. The dealers are independently owned companies.

While we facilitated conversation between you and your original dealer, we did not refund money to you. That was a transaction that you completed with your original dealer.

Unfortunately, service providers do rely on customers to advise them if a product malfunctions. We are sorry that in a 4 month period, presumably 75,000 gallons of water was lost without notice. Documentation shows that the unit was repaired in 2019 and functioning as designed, but the dealer accommodated your request for a refund and the softener was removed. Most municipalities notify customers when their water bill increases beyond the normal usage to check for leaks. We are surprised you were not notified of 75,000 gallons being wasted.

We are sorry that this remains a bad taste for you. Perhaps you will be more comfortable with Aquarius Home Services. Please feel free to reach Kinetico Customer Support at 800.944.9283 or customersupport@kinetico.com with further questions or concerns.

We have the system for the whole house, and I like the fact that we’re charged by the gallons used instead of by the time of day. If I had to do it over though, I'm not sure I'd do it 'cause it's too expensive. It started out really good. It was in a brand new home, and I had no water spots on anything. I also had good soapy water in the washing machine. I keep salt in it and it keeps going through the salt, but it's not doing like it did five years ago. Now I get water spots on almost everything and shower curtains get ugly. It's not worth it. Service has not been all that good once I paid for it too. The system should have some maintenance now, but I'm two and a half hours away from the closest guy that is a Kinetico dealer that it's a pain. I have to change filters quite a bit on the reverse osmosis system. Otherwise, it's not so bad other than just putting salt in it.

Kinetico response

Hi Jerry,

Thanks for sharing your experience.

We see that your equipment was installed in 2016. We will contact your area service provider to let make them aware of your concerns with the performance of the equipment. Sometimes, water supplies change and the equipment needs to be adjusted to accommodate the change. Being a mechanical product, sometimes they will malfunction and need corrected. Have you had the carbon in the de-chlorinated changed? That should be done every 3 - 7 years depending on site related variables.

We'll have FM Water contact you to review the service history and discuss regaining your confidence. Please feel free to contact Kinetico Customer Support with additional concerns or questions at 800.944.9283 or customersupport@kinetico.com

I got a Kinetico water softener. I keep the salt in it. I put a 40-pound bag of salt in it every three months and a half. It doesn’t use a whole lot of salt. Where I live out here in Mesquite, Nevada, we have really hard water. So, I'm really happy with the system. Our clothes wash better. We don't feel quite scummy when we got out of the shower. It was hooked up to the dishwasher, and our conditioners are cleaner and didn't seem like it was quite as spotty. What I liked about it is it’s not hooked up to our power system. It’s just on demand. It's the one that recycles.

Setting up an appointment with Kinetico was pretty good. I didn't have any issues and I had a really good sales rep locally that did a great job. American Water Company did the installation, and they did a great job as well. As far as the system, I ran out of salt once and had to purchase it myself at Home Depot. Then another month went by, and I went and bought some more. Then, they came and dropped some off. So, I needed salt a little sooner than their scheduled visit. It would be good if they would call once a quarter and say, “Hey, how are you doing on your salt levels?”

Kinetico response

Hi Brandon,

Thanks for sharing your experience!

Great news! Kinetico has launched the Kinex Salt Monitor. It's a very simple installation that allows you and American Water to be connected to your salt levels via an app. The Kinex Salt Monitor will notify you and/or American Water when your salt levels are dropping and should be replenished.

Please contact American Water for additional information on the Kinetico Kinex Salt Monitor and never run out of salt again!

The Kinetico sales rep came out, and he did a great job of explaining everything coming up with just dollar amounts and explaining the difference in systems. So, we really liked that aspect. In sales, they try to do pairings, and we got somewhat of a discount with the pairing that we went with, which was kind of nice. Then it just led to the appointment for installation. The guy that came out was very quick, explained everything pretty well, and then kind of gave me the parameters on when I would need to look at replacing filters and what levels to keep in my salt tub. So, that was really nice. It's been a great experience.

The installation was great. They came back, did quality checks and made sure everything was still good. Everything's softer and cleaner with Kinetico. I've already told others about them and other people have installed. The only thing I have to do is make sure the salt and the pebbles are filled. When the filters for the osmosis machine go away, there's a bar that tells me to replace those. The replacing of those is a couple hundred dollars.

The salesperson knew what he was talking about and did a good job promoting the product. And he was at the local trade show here. Also, the installers have done a good job. They knew what they were doing. I'm pleased with the water. Anybody should have one of those systems.

I checked out a few different providers and the thing that I like about the Kinetico system is that I don't need to plug it in. In the event of a power outage, it's still going to be effective. The first couple of times I showered after having it in, it felt weird. Because of the difference between hard water and soft water, I kept feeling I was still soapy. It'd be nice if Kinetico could have a saltless system.

The installer of our Kinetico system knew what he was doing. He did a really clean job. The system works great. We have our own little way of doing things with the salt. It's pretty easy. It uses a lot of water through the washer, though.

We purchased the soft water and the RO system from Kinetico. It seems to be performing well. We like the system, but it is really expensive. We also had to replace the filters on the RO, which was also expensive and a lot sooner than I anticipated. But, that would be the only thing. We definitely appreciate the taste of the water more so than we realized we would. Now, whenever we go somewhere, like our friends’ houses and drink water from their “filtered water”, it just doesn't taste as good as ours at home. The ice is also clearer. However, we were getting a whole lot of dry skin. We've called and talked to someone. They said that it was probably because the system was softening it so much and most soaps contain so many salts, that when you add that on top of softened water, you end up getting really dry skin. So, we switched to more natural soaps without the salts and seem to be doing better. But those are difficult to find.

Don't buy the water softener of Kinetico. Ours didn't work at all, or one tank would work and the other one wouldn't. It was going through salt like crazy and for three months there, it would only run on one side. So every time, I knew I'd have to bump it over so we'd get soft water at all and it was nothing but a mess. Every time they tried to fix it, it got worse. The drinking water thing works pretty well. It's just when you get towards the end of the life of the filters, there's some black stuff that comes through it from somewhere.

I like the excellent reviews of Kinetico and the fact that it does not use any electricity and has two tanks. It’s more environmentally sound by not backflushing on a timer, only backflushing when it's needed. The installers were also remarkably good. The price was high but acceptable. They were exceedingly professional and did everything properly. There were no leaks. It all went very well. Kinetico also makes much higher quality products than Culligan. You will not be disappointed with choosing Kinetico.

The installation of our Kinetico took half a day. It was not complicated. But there were some guys that were being trained. So that process didn't go as smoothly. They probably weren't as clean as they should have been. But I'd recommend Kinetico. The hardness of our water was gone and the smell was gone, too.

We've had the Kinetico system for four years now. That's the only water I drink and use for cooking. I wanted it so much that we even put the spigot in the kitchen for drinking water. So they hooked it up to my refrigerator. If I want water out of the refrigerator or against it, it's filtered. Then it's also filtered to the sink. It was a little more complicated for them to hook it up that way. But that's what I wanted. So that was what they did.

Your business model is terrible for the end user. Dealers in Houston are terrible. Infinity Installed system incorrectly. During a warranty repair this was identified. Replacing an in warranty broken bypass valve the attempted to remove it and install cheap ball valves. Warranty is to replace with same or better parts. This is theft. Had I not caught them they would have done this. Not until I showed them the warranty paperwork did they put in the correct parts. The other dealer in Houston will not come to North Houston. So your end users are stuck with Infinity. We have 2 of these systems. I also have referred this to a local friend who installed this system. I can no longer recommend this product or your company.

We are sorry we were not able to bring this matter to a satisfactory resolution. These concerns were born during the height of supply chain issues and employee shortages through all industries.

Setting up our appointment with Kinetico was very well done and the rep was good. I’ve been working with them to have a yearly inspection. Plus, there was an issue with a valve that, when the system would activate, it would hum and vibrate. The reps were able to figure out what that was. But it took quite a number of trips to figure it out because it didn't happen all the time. We were using the water and it would hum and you could hear it all through the house. Then, it would subside. We recorded the noise and sent it to them and that helped in isolating the issue. The reps found out that something was improperly installed when it was done in October 2019. The installation team was good but the guy was supposed to leave an owner's manual or get us one and he didn't. I had to go online and get it. But other than that, they did a good job troubleshooting that problem.

I have the Kinetico water softener and reverse osmosis system. The water is nice to wash clothes and take showers with. The soft water gives a little bit more suds when washing hair and it doesn't leave the skin feeling dry. Also, with reverse osmosis, it’s really good drinking water without having to purchase bottled water. It saves money in that regard but there are expenses for upkeeping it. There are some intricate filters that have to be changed one to two times a year.

I've had Kinetico for five years now. First of all, I've got a carbon filter on my entire water system. Subsequently to that, a year later, I bought a soft water system. The Kinetico rep was excellent. His first name is Troy. He was a nice guy and explained everything to me. We had a leak, and he came back on a Saturday and fixed it right away. I was impressed with that. As far as the carbon filter goes, it's hard to notice a difference. But we didn't have any cloudiness in the water. You also didn't taste anything and that didn't take that long. Then, the soft water was almost immediate. I'd recommend Kinetico.

Some of our maintenance issues have decreased compared to our old water. So the system must be working okay. But my biggest complaint is the salt. Somehow it turns into one big rock in a tank and we're constantly having to do maintenance on it.

Kinetico response

Hi Geoffrey,

We are sorry to hear of the issues with the salt bridges. Unfortunately, this is really more site related than it is brand related.

If it's possible to keep the temperature and humidity around the salt tank consistent, that helps. You can also fill the tank just 1/2 way rather than full.

Please check back with your installer for other tips they may have found to be of value based on their experience in the area.

I got Kinetico back when I bought my home from the neighborhood association. The home had a water softener in it. The water was soft but they tested the water. Hi Sandra,

In my first home in Rockford, I did my research about water softeners and systems for reverse osmosis and I came across Kinetico. I liked the fact that it did not require any electricity and that it was highly effective. There was a price that you have to pay extra but the system worked like a charm. It was worth it and I'm highly satisfied.

When we were building our first house, the builder wanted to place a different system for water softener. But after he installed everything related to Kinetico, that was the system he had been trying to use for every single deal he made. He was impressed with our system. When I moved to the area where I live now, I didn't have any doubt and I just got a new Kinetico system for drinking, reverse osmosis as well as water softener.

The people from Mohr Soft Water here in Red Bud, Illinois have a good reputation for the products that they sell and they recommended Kinetico. Red Bud, Illinois is notorious for having subpar water. We got the whole shebang from Kinetico. We have the drinking water carbon filter business and the whole house water softener treatment system. Our water is clean now that we have Kinetico. It doesn't have an odor. It's just what you want. It's soft. Previously, we had a system that took electricity from the whole house system. Kinetico's customer service is very nice and they’re right on the ball. They do everything they can for you. I have to drink an awful lot of water because I have kidney problems. So, I love my Kinetico. I wouldn't be without it and I just had a new one put in the garage. I feel safe when I can drink my water. I had the system serviced every year for a long time and the guy who owned Kinetico here in St. George came and told me that I don't use water for cooking and I don't have a house full of people, so I only need to change the filters for the one in the kitchen every two years, which was very good of him because he was honest. He could have said that I need it serviced every year and charge me to do nothing.

I just had the system in the kitchen serviced a couple of months ago. But the one in the garage didn't have to be serviced. It's a brand-new one. The system was quite expensive but that's okay. It doesn't need filters so, I'm set there. But I keep up on servicing everything. If they say a year, I have it done every year. People should get the Kinetico system if they can afford it. It's an investment. When the guy came two years ago, he said the one in the garage was kaput. I told him to put in a new one. I didn't even think about it. It has been here 20 years. It has lasted a long time.

When they tested our water, they said it had such high levels of both sulfur and iron. When you first turned the faucet on, it smelled like rotten eggs in the whole house. But that's been gone ever since the Kinetico system was installed. The best part of the system is it's maintenance free. You put some salt in it and it's good to go.

I've got a water softener system and an iron removal system from Kinetco. They don't require a lot of maintenance on anybody's part and I like that. There was initially a problem with the iron filter but the engineers looked at the issue, designed a new spring, and fixed it. So, they're very responsive. We purchased a system, and installation was very easy. They sent a technician to the house and they took care of it all. I like that it's self-powered so you don't have to have electricity to the system, and it softens the water. My wife's skin is very dry, so she has soft water. We got the system that has no downtime to it, because it has two processing tanks. It would swap over whenever the other one is rinsing. It's a great system, and I will always have a Kinetico in whatever houses I own. We've had a system for so long, I don't know what it's like to live without one. We feel cleaner, and our clothes are cleaner coming out of the washer. We don't get any calcium buildup on our showerhead or any of our faucets anymore. Those are the main things.

We've had several Kinetico products, and we keep buying them. It’s a good service. The techs show up when they say they would, and they do their testing. It’s great. The last one we purchased was a unit for a 4,000 square-foot home, under air, in Guilford Connecticut. And we have two filtration systems under the sink. There’s one for the house, which is based on a sodium ion exchange. It seemed to make a lot of sense that we didn’t waste a lot of salt, and we didn't have periods of time where we wished we had soft water. And they never break. They just do their job. I love it. It’s a great system and worth every penny. But I wish it wasn't so expensive. We're having another house built in Florida so we talked to somebody down there. That would be a whole house RO system that would cover six different outlets in the house.

I liked the people who came and brought the system because they showed us things about it. I had to call one time about something and the reps were so nice about it. I would recommend Kinetico. It makes you feel secure that you're not drinking something that will make you sick.

The rep did a really good job of explaining everything and showing us what the difference would be and how everything worked. It's been over two years since we got a Kinetico system installed and we wouldn’t have anything else. It’s amazing. My wife says it makes better tea and coffee, and our ice cubes are amazing too. We're very happy with it. We also got a coupon for free filters for one time after our two years was up, and I have used those.
