I had a water softener, but it wasn't large enough. So I went to talk to Kinetico. They had a commercial size, and that's what I needed. So I switched to them. I needed it, and they accommodated me quickly. I had an iron softener. Takes the iron out and the smell. And mine went out. I went over and talked to the rep, and she had one, and they put it in the next day.

I needed a system because we had excess calcium in our water. I selected Kinetico because it doesn't take any power to run it, is efficient, and that is what my family has had for the last 30 years-plus. The location did a great job. We like the quality service. Also, the equipment works sufficiently and flawlessly. Any of the buildup on all of our faucets disappeared within a month and the water quality is much better. We have peace of mind. We shouldn't have to worry about it. Work with a good authorized dealer.

We built a new house, and then our neighbor told us that he had a Kinetico system and how well it had worked for him. So, we went with that. I installed myself. It was fine. Thus far, we've really had no trouble. We have a reverse osmosis system from the same outfit underneath the sink for our drinking water and the filters are way more expensive than some of the other brands. So, I'd tell others to look into those brands. I thought Kinetico is on a higher end price-wise compared to some of the others, but I don't have a lot of experience. We went pretty much off my neighbor's recommendation. He said he's had the same dishwasher for 25 years. With this water, it's almost hard to believe. Without the system in this country, the dishwasher won't last a year.

Two of my friends have Kinetico systems. They were happy with it, so I picked it. The agent who installed it was the same agent who is an exclusive agent for this area. He gave me a good price, and we installed all the filters, and it's been hassle-free. We have hard water so we got the softener system with a water filter for drinking at my kitchen tap. It was based on size and the hardness of the water and the compactness of the system. The water softener part of it works fine, but there's a design flaw in the water filtration system. The cap keeps falling off. It's a thing. Then I had to mechanically fix it myself, and I'm not a plumber, so I fumbled through it. There's a lot of cleanup work. It's not a big deal, but it seems like a very basic design flaw. The system works fine.

I have Kinetico at my home in New Mexico and it sucks. It is at a mountain home, which is at 8,000 feet and is occupied only six months out of the year. It's in an area that is susceptible to freezing. So I shut down the system and it's wrapped with heat wire to keep it from freezing during the winter. But all too often, it bridges during that shutdown period, and I have to have somebody come out and take care of that. It cost me a couple of hundred bucks almost every time I go back and open the system up, and it's a pain in the butt. Other than that, it works fine. Once we get back, I pay them $200, and we get everything straight, it works great until the next cycle and I go through that again. Here in Texas, I have a regular salt use regenerate based on a time basis rather than a use basis. It's a standard water softener and it works great. I never have a problem with it.

I've had problem after problem with the Kinetico in New Mexico and I'm over 40-some odd miles away from the installer and the company that services it. So service is not timely at times. And we got in a pissing contest about whether it had to have pellet salt or the standard rock salt type of stuff. It's been a mess and if I had to do it over again, I would not buy a Kinetico and I would not recommend anybody that lives in the geography area that I live in to buy a Kinetico. It is not conducive to high-altitude areas.

I called Kinetico to have a water softener put into my house. My experience was good. But I've never heard a word from them afterward. Don't even know how to change my filter. I obviously need my filter changed. It's never been changed, because I don't know how. They didn't show me that. They said they would check back with me in a week after it was put in to see if everything was going well. Then, I reached out to them and never heard another word. The system's great. But the follow-up on customer service sucks.

We didn't like the water at our house and we needed a water system. We chose Kinetico because they had a good reputation. We don’t have hard water but there are minerals in it and it has a bad taste to it. You can taste the chlorine. Kinetico added a system under the sink and now, I don’t taste the chlorine. The water tastes good, and that’s all I care about. Everybody should have a water system in their house if they can afford it. It's expensive but it's worth it because water is important. Kinetico does great work. I’m very happy and pleased with all the interactions we've had with them.

We wanted to have water we could drink out of the faucet and Kinetico has a woman in the advertisement who says it helped her hair so much. So, we decided to get the system. But it didn’t make any difference to my hair. They should quit advertising it. We have the kitchen water faucet, and my husband and I were wondering if there’s a filter for it and whether it’s supposed to be changed. We’ve been using the system for three years and Kinetico should have a follow-up program. The techs should come out and make sure that it’s okay. They could follow up maybe a year out to say we’re doing the right thing with the filters and ask if the water is coming through correctly.

But if you pay monthly, the service was included for the lifetime. So, I thought I was saving some money going through GreenSky and they would come service it. Now, my equipment doesn't work and my water is still hard as crap. It is awful. Kinetico's customer service is terrible and when I tried to call, they were rude. They didn't really want to help me or change anything. They sent somebody out who backwashed the system. Also, I have never once added a bag of salt in the two years I've had that thing. So, I hate it and I'm paying money for something that is not working.

I did a city water test, and it didn't quite jive with the information that the city was providing. So, I just wanted to make sure that we were drinking clean water, and we're not getting residue and buildup in the dishwasher. I got the Kinetico water softener and the RO system from Gordon Water out of Grand Rapids Michigan. Their customer service is excellent. They installed it and it just started working. The drinking water has a distinctly different taste, and actually to the point where we really dislike preparing anything with tap water, as we prefer to do through the Kinetico system. We put the remineralizer on it, because we noticed that it made the water so clean that it was like almost a little unnatural. So, the remineralizer helps a lot. I replace the salt in the system every couple months. I also replace the filters on the RO system once or twice a year. It's kind of a set it and forget it thing, which I really appreciate.

I did receive a call back that they would be sending someone out later in the day….received a text late in the day with some BS story that they again would not be coming out. Still waiting for service. Buyer beware as Florida is tough on equipment, and if you need service….this company does not value customer service. My suggestion would not buy with Kinetico. When I bought our home and I could afford a water softener system, I heard Kinetico advertised on WHO, so I investigated it. I liked that it didn't have electricity. Plus, if you ran out, it automatically switched over and you still had soft water while the other one was recharging. I don't ever run out of soft water. It does a wonderful job. I spent money and put all-new plumbing in the house and put a new shower and a new bathroom in, and I didn't want it to get destroyed with crappy water. So that's why I put a Kinetico system in. The shower is five years old, but it looks brand-new.

Five years later, the system is still working like it did when it was new. A year ago, I got the Kinetico drinking water system in and I love that. I've had two different Kinetico people come out and they were both great guys. They were very polite and professional. They did a wonderful job. They explained everything to me, what they were doing, and how it works. Kinetico is a great company.

The Kinetico system is a hell of a bargain for what you're getting because you constantly have soft water. There are no headaches or hassles. I don't have to worry about it. I just check it once a month for softener salt and it works great. The biggest thing is that I didn't put the system in until about a year after I put the shower in. So, within a year's time, my shower looked like crap and I had to go in and scrub all of that lime off of it. Now it's been four years and I haven't had to touch it since the Kinetico system. So, for me, it's well worth the money and it works. That's the big thing. I don't mind paying money for something, but I want it to work and I don't want it to be a headache. That's your Kinetico system. It's an investment and it's not going to nickel-and-dime you.

I have a whole house system. While I would rate their water system as fair to good. I would give their service scheduling system an extremely negative review. I purchased an annual service program that’s in excess of $1,000.00. Their scheduling system automatically sets an appointment for maintenance without consulting you for it to be a mutually agreed upon appointment. Additionally they give you a time frame to arrive between 9:30 am and 4:30 pm. My wife has a terminal illness and we spend an extraordinary amount of time with doctors. I have replied to their emails, text messages, and phone calls explaining this and that we have to make mutually agreed upon appointments but it falls on deaf ears.

I’ve also explained this to their service techs who say they will relay the message. But, as well that goes nowhere. Advance Water Systems has a monopoly in our state so I have nowhere to turn. Consequently if I happen to be here when they show up great. If not, oh well. Going forward I’m certainly not going to subscribe to their maintenance program. In fact I’m giving serious consideration to contracting a locally owned company to rip this system out and installing a system that more than one company can service.

In comparison to the Culligan Water Treatment System that my daughter has at her farm, their water is so soft that I feel like it's slimy. And I was adamant that we not have that. I have very hard water and Kinetico gave me a rundown of the water test. Their water softener works okay. It seems a good system. The water is decent. However, it's a very expensive system compared to other ones. We did it because it was a friend of the family type of deal and we wanted one. But we paid twice what we would with a different system. It's all American-made and guaranteed for 10 years, and you can take it with you when you leave. But who's gonna do that? It's just a sales pitch.

Kinetico threatens me with dropping my warranty if I don't use their guys and products. They charge too much for filters. And if I buy them somewhere else, that will void my warranty, which is BS, because it's an actual Kinetico filter. And if I do it, I have to pay them and their service guy big money to do it when I can do it for a third of the price. That will also void my warranty. I use their products, but I don't use their guys. Just to make sure everything is okay is $250. I would look into other options.

    Response from Kinetico Water Systems

    Hi George,

Thanks for taking the time to write this review.

To confirm the warranty information, it has been found that 'Kinetico compatible' filters are being sold on a variety of on line platforms. The Kinetico Limited Warranty will be void if these filters are used.

The filters must be obtained from an authorized retailer to insure Kinetico manufactured filters are being used. This protects the integrity and performance of the product, ultimately, the warranty.

Many Kinetico homeowners change their own filters. This only affects the Limited Warranty if the unit is damaged in this service. This holds true if a dealer services the unit or a customer.

Thanks for taking the time to provide your feed back.

We live in Colfax, and it’s very well-known for hard water like liquid rock. Where I worked, we use Kinetico for our company. It's a very large nursing home. We have three of your huge ones, and it works beautifully. Our water is perfect all the way across. The house that we had just moved into, they had this junk water filter or water softener hooked up. I had a plumber come in and look at it, and he was like, “Dude, this thing is a piece of shit.”

I was just going to go to Menards and buy one of those $300 ones you can install because our drains, our sinks, everything was corroded. Before I started replacing anything, I wanted to get our water good. One of Kinetico’s reps started talking to me about it, and he explained everything, how they do it, the prices, and I was like, “That’s the perfect deal.”

When he came in, it was a good walkthrough. He was a simple guy. He very much said, “If you want it, we'll do it. If not, this is how hard your water is, which is absolutely bad water.” He said they’ve got many ways to work with me. I didn't have to pay for it all at once if I don’t want to. He said if I want it, I could give him a call and they’d put it in. Two weeks later, I called, and they came and put the system in. They didn’t try to sell me on anything I didn’t want, and it did exactly what they told me it's gonna do.

There were two young installers. My kids were bugging them, because it's down by my kids' room there, and they were really cool with them. They weren't like, “Get the hell away from me.” I ended up putting in all new water faucets, all new shower, a showerhead, and our hair is softer, the shampoo goes further, the body wash goes further. It's all good. I have recommended Kinetico to numerous people in Colfax. We haven't had a single problem with it. I haven't had to do anything except put a couple of bags of salt in.

Two years ago, we bought a new water softener system from Kinetico. It started leaking. So, we needed to get a new one. We got a new one from Kinetico once again. While it's been going on two years now, I called them to set up an appointment for them to come and check the old system out. They made an appointment and they came and took care of it. They talked to us about our choices, what we wanted, and we decided on what we wanted, and that was what they did. Kinetico, overall, has always been really quick to respond and make an appointment. Our water softener is pretty expensive, but we really like. I would recommend Kinetico.

We had our Kinetico system installed by Shiloh Water. I'm a disabled veteran. I have Gulf War Illness. It is a toxic exposure illness. I was interested because I'm trying to eliminate toxin exposure from my life as much as I can. And our water here in Salem is not very clean. It has lots of things in it, including a kind of radiation as well, which is actually concerning. I'm pretty sure the Kinetico system doesn't take that out. I'm sure we're still getting exposed to that. But the system has been pretty good for the most part. The filter exchange is a little expensive since I have to pay to have it done. I prefer to have somebody licensed do it, so it doesn't leak and those kinds of things. But other than that, it's been fine.

We change it about once every seven months or so. It lasts a while. But when I originally purchased, they were telling me every year. Of course, they say different people use different water, which I understand all that. And we use it for everything. We use it to rinse off vegetables, and then we use it for cooking water also. The system seems to be doing its job.

We've had a Kinetico. We're on our second Kinetico softener. I like them ‘cause they're pretty much worry-free. About once a year, you have to clean the tank. But it's not a big deal. I don't have to hire anybody to do that. And that's easy enough. The main thing that we have found, especially when you own your own well, you have to put a filter in front of the water coming into the house, ‘cause most domestic wells tend to suck up a little bit of sand and yuck stuff. It keeps it out of the filtration system on that softener. Makes them last longer.

I liked our original dealer here in town, years ago, the first one we bought from. We had to buy our second one from TLC Plumbing and they did okay. But I just think the other little home-owned one was better, ‘cause they're more personal. We've owned our own home and had our own well here for a long time, almost 50 years. We started with a Sears softener. We had three different brands. We had Sears, Culligan, and something else. But, they just wouldn't hold up. We finally sucked it up and bought a Kinetico, which is expensive. That's the only drawback. But they also do a very good job. I think the expense outweighs what they do.

We use it for drinking water as well. But I have a carbon filter on the drinking water in the kitchen just to help. The potassium doesn't seem to bother anything. I know the salt tends to bother some people, but potassium is a lot gentler on your body. Also, I run the softener out into a fluid tank and water the trees with it. And the bushes and stuff. The system is worth the money, even though you have to pay more.

I bought an old house that was on well water that had no water filtration system at all when I moved in and I had one installed. Kinetico bought out a company that I had done business with, and I am dissatisfied with them. A couple of years ago, around the time my annual service was due, they sent out a flyer that was deceiving. I thought that a technician was gonna come out and test the water. They were gonna pitch the new system to me but they would also service me because they weren't just a salesperson. Instead, the technicians came out and tested the water and told me I got to do this, this and this. They didn’t service me, so I don't even know where I'm at with the whole servicing the line.

The technicians used to come in annually, check the tank to see if it needed salt, dump it out in the yard, and refill it. I never had to buy a single bag of salt or handle that maintenance myself. That was for the main filtration system going into the house, which has two big tanks that look like overgrown oxygen tanks. We also have a secondary system, which is the reverse osmosis system. The technicians were telling me I need to replace it because Kinetico doesn’t make that technology anymore and I have to upgrade to a newer system that will cost thousands of dollars. They said the bladder is going to go bad and that the system is contained, so there’s no way to replace the bladder on the old unit. In the meantime, I bought a water pitcher with a filter. I still use the separate line for things like coffee or watering plants, but I don’t know how filtered that water is.

I've been meaning to get back in touch with Kinetico. I just saw some marketing material this morning and thought about calling them. But then, I put them in the back of the pile because my last experience with them was not good. It could be just my interpretation of how it all went down. It felt like a bait-and-switch kind of a deal. But it may not have been. It may have just been serendipitous that it was right around the time of the servicing and maybe I should have called twice. But it said to call to make an appointment and I did. And I got a salesperson, not a tech person.

We have a community well, and we have very hard water. A lot of people in this neighborhood have Kinetico, and they love it. It's very popular. We got a water softener and a water treatment system, but I didn’t like how they handled appointment scheduling. It was mostly done through texting and emailing, which is very annoying. Their whole system is crazy and the servicing has become more expensive. You need salt and filters and when the techs come out to service the unit, they don’t bring them. While I can buy the salt at Home Depot, the filters have to be ordered, which means paying for shipping. The Kinetico techs should have filters on their truck when they come. But the system itself works well and I would recommend it. The water has become soft, though it doesn’t last very long. At times, it seems hard. When I asked them about it, they had a good explanation. Overall, my experience was good, but occasionally irritating.

I was very pleased with Owen Water Conditioning but my communication with Kinetico was not good at all. When I contacted their office to request technical data sheets on the products we were considering, the representative I spoke with was very rude, disrespectful, and not helpful. If she worked for me, I would have probably terminated her position. I would probably recommend her to go to a Dale Carnegie course and learn some business etiquette. If I didn't already have $20,000 worth of their equipment installed in my house, there's no way I would ever recommend Kinetico from a manufacturer standpoint ever again. I have water softeners, tannin filters, automatic backwashing carbon filters, a multimedia sediment filter, and a reverse osmosis drinking water system, since we pull water from a lake for our home.

The installation and appointment setup were handled by Owen Water Conditioning, and that experience was perfect. They knew what they were doing. The water is great since we had the system installed. We send water samples to a lab every three months for both the reverse osmosis system and the regular water system, and the results consistently come back excellent. For anyone interested in a system, if they’re dealing with the contractors, I would highly recommend. If they're dealing with Kinetico itself, I would look for a Culligan product. I would rate Owen Water Conditioning 5 stars across the board. But I'd give 1 star for Kinetico's customer service.

They finally decided to replace the entire head! Worked great for quite a while but in the last several months my softener salt usage has gone up to a point of 2 to 3, 40 pound bags per month. I called again and they had me take a sample of my hard water in to be tested! Now they are recommending I replace the disc with a #3! Not sure this is going to help!

Owning a Kinetico Aqua Kinetic A200 RO system should be about clean water and peace of mind. Instead, it’s turned into a source of frustration because of how poorly Kinetico manages its replacement filter supply chain. The only way to buy replacement cartridges is through a local distributor who doesn’t ship products. Their hours? Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 4 PM. That means if you work a standard job, you literally have to take time off just to pick up a water filter. Should maintaining safe drinking water really require burning a vacation day or asking your boss for time off? It’s absurd.

In 2025, when nearly every product imaginable can be ordered online and delivered to your doorstep, Kinetico’s refusal to make replacement filters available through modern channels feels outdated, inconvenient, and frankly disrespectful to customers’ time. A water filter change should be a simple task, not a logistical headache. Until Kinetico fixes this supply chain issue and makes filters available online with shipping options, I cannot recommend their systems. The product itself may be fine, but the ownership experience is unnecessarily painful.

    Original Review: Dec. 3, 2025

I had Kinetico come out to look at my k5 drinking water station with VOC guard. No testing was done to see why pressure was low. They changed a part out of the station and put a refurbished part that was sitting in a dirty Home Depot bucket with damp dirty towels on top of it. The filters were put in the sink upside down getting bacteria on the tops. No sanitation was done and no testing to check the water.

On top of it all I was charged $139.00 when I was told by a kinetico admin that if we caused the problem you’ll be charged the service fee of $199, but if we change a part out due to it failing then you won’t be charged. They cut the blue water line with dirty cutters to put a water stop valve there and didn’t ask me. There’s a main water stop already on the system so why create a space for more bacteria.

John, whom is a manager for the Las Vegas branch, said, "the kinetico installers installed it wrong to begin with there should have been a water turn off valve put on the blue line". He blamed his own service techs for installing the system wrong yet he saw no problem with how the service tech handled the filters and the main part for the VOC system in not the proper sanitary method as the owner manual states. Also found John found nothing wrong in not doing a water test or a sanitation rinse. So there’s a big disconnect between the employees, Management and corporate in Ohio.

Customer service is dead. I just wasted ten grand! Kinetico does not stand behind their products, their service and the Kinetico owners manual. When a business gets too big they no longer care about their customers. In the end you have to be more educated in kinetico systems because management doesn’t and will not listen to what you are telling them. A simple you got it that is not how we handle the filters for the VOC and we will run a sanitation through it for your peace of mind. Instead I got from John, "If we tested your water and ran a sanitation we would have charged you. Every 30 min we are there so you were only charged $139, so would you rather a bill for $400 or $500"? This is the service now folks. I can’t in good conscience ever recommend Kinetico K5 drinking water station.

I purchased what I was told was a full Kinetico dechlorination and softening system. What I actually received was a modified, substandard setup that even their own staff later admitted will require expensive “rebedding” every few years — about $700 each time. That is not normal maintenance; it’s the consequence of them cutting corners and selling a system designed to fail prematurely.

When I contacted Kinetico corporate, they initially agreed the system should be replaced with a proper dual-tank setup — exactly what I paid for. Then the local dealer backtracked, insisted that “rebedding” is fine, and claimed it’s just part of ownership. Corporate later deferred right back to the dealer, leaving me stuck between two entities pointing fingers at each other.

This entire experience has been deceptive, exhausting, and costly. I now have zero confidence in this dealer or Kinetico’s oversight. Selling customers “modified” systems that don’t perform as represented — then expecting them to pay hundreds every few years to fix the resulting damage — is unacceptable. I will be leaving this same honest review on every major platform so other customers don’t get hoodwinked the way I was.

I had a 14 year old Kenmore water softener which I replaced. My Kinetico Premier water softener is installed and looks great. l also had chlorine and sediment filter which I did not have before. They used the pex lines to go above a sheet rock ceiling and get the one water line in the house added to the water softener (that my old system did not cover) without making any additional holes in the sheet rock. There is also a pressure gage by the system that shows 60 PSI in the home.

The setup by Martin was great and it is working like it should. They removed and disposed my old Kenmore water softener. They reviewed how to replace the sediment filter and they gave me a couple extra filters and several bags of salt. Very professional and they cleaned up after themselves. They will come back in a month, check the system and water free of charge. Very happy with my new Kinetico system and Martin service. It is expensive compared to some other brands that rely on electricity and have circuit boards that could get damaged in a brown out, nearby lightning strike or power outage. This American made product should last at least 20 years. I highly recommend it if you want a higher quality water softener.

We have both water softener and reverse osmosis systems. I like that it uses absolutely NO electricity or natural gas. It is its own entity, working by itself. We purchased the extended maintenance plan soooo worth it cause after 3 years no bill for a company man (that installed it) to come out every 6 months. And it also comes with a 10 year warranty. We received 2 filters using 1 at a time (which get really filthy, our water here in Binghamton NY; in my opinion; is harsh/ hard and just nasty and the dirty filter we change out every 4 months proves it) BUT... the filters are completely cleanable. I run them in hot water 1st, then soak it in a sink or bin in hot OXY for a few hours and they come out white as new. I find with the scent of the oxy and soapy-ness of it the filters need to be rinsed out several times til no scent is left.

The reverse osmosis system (that is under our kitchen sink cabinet) filters (there are 4) so far only 2 of them have needed changing every 1 1/2 years. Because we have the softening system the reverse osmosis is low maintenance. Also as all softeners, it uses salt in a large bin (which is 1 part of the whole cleaning/filtering water system). The salt bin needs salt added about every 6 months (we buy the 40 lb bag of "Morton" softener salt) at 1/2 the bag each time. So..one 40 lb bag will last a year and at about $7.50 a bag that's not bad.

OH, and I bought a water (battery operated) measuring guage. It measures the "parts per million" contaminants in water (it's for the reverse osmosis drinking water system) and it gages at 0 (that's ZERO) contaminants in our water so.... we are drinking pure clean water. I use the water also to cook with (like boiling pasta etc) and coffee, tea, lemonade etc. I totally would recommend this system. And lastly. Yes it is pricey, (I'm sorry but I cannot remember how much we paid cause we had a package deal with this, a furnace and tankless hot water heater altogether) but a no interest plan possibly is available if you ask.

This concept of Kinetico was genius to us, and we were like, “Wow, this really works,” so we decided to give them a call, and we don’t regret it. I have been with Kinetico Water Systems since 2014

I have a basic water softener from Kinetico which goes all through the home except for the outdoor faucets. The guy who came out to do the presentation was very pleasant. He didn’t push anything, and basically, left it up to me to decide. I was satisfied with him. The installation took two hours to get everything done. The technicians had to reroute some water lines to basically eliminate the outdoor faucets. That was a little time-consuming.

It's been two years with Kinetico. It’s the top-of-the-line water treatment. I like the equipment, it’s good, and better than the old traditional ones.

Upkeep is effortless, so far. Everything's working fine. We’re waiting for the fellow to come out and service our system. They're gonna change the filters and try to find that little leaker on our salt tank. It's not right but I don't think it's a big deal.

When we bought the house, a different company had something in there that was $80 a month. We bought a Kinetico unit so we wouldn't have the monthly fees. Water before had high iron. It was ugly. Now we don’t have calcium or other residue anywhere in any of our water system.

My skin is rough, so I can’t tell if it’s softer, but I’m not going to complain about it. It’s hard to say because we always had city water. But the drinking water is very good. My teenagers like it.

I would get bottled water, but not water and ice, even from my office. My water cups for work, I only fill them up from home before I leave the house because my water tastes really good.

I have no issues or problems with it. I actually took a picture of the machine and sent it to the guy who did my water system outside. He wants to know what it was and get it for his well water.

I’m 93 and inclined to accept people as honest, to begin with. A teenager was sent here as a Kinetico salesman. His name was Michael and he told me a bunch of lies. The initial salesperson was a kid. He was frivolous and cocky. They sent out a bad salesman.

He said the water I had was a 12, and I later found out it was an 8. He told me my skin problem would be taken care of by soft water, and it wasn’t. He also said they would come twice a month to put salt in my receptacle and take care of everything, and that it would only cost $100. He said it would be about $200 or $300 for a year, and that I would have to have my water filters changed. None of that turned out to be true. You have no idea how angry I was, and still am.

I did some research and found out that if you want to know whether your filters need changing, you just look at the water coming out of the faucets. Does it have a different color? Does it smell? Does anything seem wrong? Then it needs changing. Well, two and a half years later, I still haven’t had any signs that the system needs a filter change.

I was worried that maybe I was wrong, so I called the water company. They sent a technician who was very nice and did a good job. There was nothing wrong with the system, except that I had a bathroom renovation and the guys who installed the bathtub had turned the soft water to bypass, and it wasn’t set correctly. He said the salt was fine. He took out the main filter, it was pretty dirty, but after checking the minerals in the water, he said there was still nothing wrong with my water. It cost me $450.

The filters themselves are not $300. I can go online and buy them. I watched the technician do it, and they’re not hard to change. The main filter looks ugly, but it’s just a screw in. When the Kinetico technicians came, they also broke a pipe and put in the wrong valve. When they broke the pipe, I didn’t wait for them to call their plumber. I called the plumber I knew. The pipe they broke cost me $2,000 to replace, and another $2,000 to repair the patio that had to be torn up.

The owner of the business came down, and he was a very nice man. But I wasn’t impressed with how much they charge to change the filters. I have all the filter numbers now, so I may just change them myself. Or I can call my plumber and have him do it. I also told Corey that the water system didn’t cure anything, and he said Michael should never have claimed that. He said he tells his people never to say that the water is going to cure someone. But did it leave a bad taste in my mouth? Yes, it did.

I think the last thing Michael told me was that if I had them come every week, it would cost around $10,000. People need to know what the actual costs are. I certainly did. The system itself is good. I have no problem with the system. The only problem I had was Michael. Corey, the owner, was very nice. I had considered going on Yelp and reporting it, but I didn’t. If I ever have a big problem, I want to be able to call the Kinetico company directly and hopefully get a reasonable estimate for whatever I need done.

Two years ago, I had trouble with some of the gears inside. It got to the point where with the age of it, it was time to upgrade. I got the same size, just a newer version. It's two tanks and the newer head for the whole house. I had everything plumbed in and ready to go. All they had to do was hook it up and run the drain line. I see no difference in my first Kinetico compared to the second one. Everything still cycles the same. I have recommended it to about three people that have gotten them installed. My son got one a couple of years ago, too. So, I've been pleased with it.

There was a local office in Indianapolis, so I purchased that water softener. I purchased one for an old house, and when I bought a new house, I bought one there, too. We did the one that takes the salt, and then we also did the filtration system for my drinking water.

We have four bathrooms, so we use a decent amount of water, and it seems to work really well. The upkeep is not too difficult. I will get it serviced every so often with a new filter, and then I add my own salt. I have Kinetico to service it once a year just because I want it done right, and it’s been great. The installation was seamless and the actual performance of the softener has been top-notch.

I like the fact that it doesn't have to have power to run. That's a plus. But the people who come into the home to put the system together should talk to the homeowner about how they want the system set up, like where they want it to go instead of just doing the little diagram picture of the triangle thing. It would have made a hell of a lot more sense if they had moved it down a little bit.

I've had the system for two years and maintenance is simple. You just change the filter then you add the salt whenever it's needed. It drains really fast when it's doing the system flush. Our basement drain can't keep up so sometimes, it floods my basement.

We have a lot of iron and sediment in our water and we have to have a filtration system. We had an existing one that went bad. Kinetico did a good job getting it out and hooking up a whole water filtration system. They were in and out very quickly, explained the system well, and even hooked it up to where I can turn it on and off to be able to use it on my water line if I wanna wash my window or for the outside if I want to.

With my system before, our water tasted better. But with Kinetico, I do notice a lot less staining. I also still have a smell in my water, which I told them was a concern. It comes and goes. It's not horrible, though. It was worse with the other system. Also, with what I paid, my water should be a little bit better. It wasn't a cheap system. I’ve seen some better systems, but they are more well-known. I don't have to worry about three years from now, my system breaks down, but the company is out of business, so I went with Kinetico even though they were more expensive.

Upon installation, because I have to change out the filter every six months, I wish they had shown me how to do that or left a detailed instruction sheet. It's harder to change out the filter than my last system, because I have an extra sediment filter. I also tried to do it myself without any instructions and I accidentally bypassed the system. I thought it wasn't working, but I couldn't get the plug things out. They end up coming out and getting the system running, but I had to pay a service fee. It's something that I could have done myself if they had shown me in the first place then left proper instructions, something I could keep by the unit. Overall, I am satisfied with the product and customer service. Even the guy who came out to help me get it back running was nice.

I just happened to call him up and told him what I was looking for, and he took care of me. That was my old house. And then I just built a new house, and he put one in my new house.

Installation took a couple of hours. I didn’t move in for probably a month after that, so it sat. It was hooked up and it was just that the bypass was turned on because I was not in the house yet, so I didn't really worry about making soft water until I knew I was in the house.

We have glass shower doors, and cleaning it is a lot easier with soft water. it's much more improved, because out where I'm at, we have very hard water.

Just overall, it’s a better experience with Kinetico. How it operates is so much better than what it was before. The other one was on a timer. This one's based on water usage, and it doesn't regenerate unless it needs to be regenerated, so you're not wasting salt in a sense. If you go on vacation and stuff like that, it's not gonna be regenerating because it's not going through that system.

As for the price, it's a lot more. No doubt about it. It's three times more than the other one I replaced on the old house. I believe you get what you pay for. If you want quality, you have to pay for it.

We started doing a little bit of research and Kinetico sounded like it would be one of the leaders, and that was good by us. We weren't going to compromise on that. We know that we have hard water and a lot of calcium where we live and my wife was really interested in it. The salesperson was very thorough and did a wonderful job. We knew what we were getting into. We've got the water softener system, and then we've got an add-on for our drinking water, a separate cylinder in the wall space. Installation was very smooth. We both immediately saw the difference with how the water felt, so we were pleased with that. Fortunately, we felt like we could afford it and went ahead and proceeded with it. It’s not cheap. Cathy was also very particular about her drinking water and that's why we got the other system. We pay a fee for the salt to be reloaded or optimized. I'm just not clear on what to expect longevity-wise with what we have. I don't know at what point that the hardware would become obsolete.

I had an old water system that was giving me a lot of trouble, like it tasted like salt. It was old. So that's when I called Kinetico to get an estimate, and they came in and they talked me into doing a brand new system and then adding the one under the sink too. I've always been of the belief that the main system that we have should be enough to purify it to clean the water. But my wife says, “No, let's get one for under there so we can drink from that.” So that's why I purchased it.

I've already had my brother-in-law install one over in the rental property that he's got. I’ve recommended them.

The purifier under the sink all of a sudden slowed down. There was some kind of an indication that was supposed to come on, but it's not coming on. It's just dripping really slowly. I've been waiting to see if it gets any better. We use it to drink. Other than adding salt to the other system, everything was good prior to this issue.

Kinetico is the best in class and that they are well worth the money. And when it comes to your home and your health, you need to go for what's the best product available, and it's Kinetico. My prior system stopped working and I was looking for a replacement. I chose Kinetico because of their reputation, and I looked at their website, and they are top-of-the-line. And since I was going to make that kind of an investment, I believe in buying the best you can get. I had the water softener system and the reverse osmosis from them.

Their team was really good. First, John came out and tested the water. He was very thorough. He talked with us about the results and made a recommendation for what we needed. They sent two technicians and did a really good job. I noticed a tremendous difference in the quality of the water.

After I had the system for over a year, I gave them a call to tell them that they needed to come and check the filters and do a yearly maintenance. The lady asked me how many people are in the household and if there was a decrease in the water pressure. And what the indicator is saying. She said I did not need the maintenance yet. That was amazing for me. If Kinetico was out to just make money, they would charge me for something I may not even need.

I've had it now for a couple of years, and the cost of having them come out to replace the filters is pretty high. It was $500. And I know you can do that yourself in theory but I'm a wheelchair user and doing that sort of replacement isn't possible for me. I spent $8,000 on the system, and it'd be nice if you knew you got a few perks going forward to keep the filters up to date.

It's really simple to run. It doesn't really use that much salt, because that was a concern from other people I talked to. They were saying how cumbersome it was to have to deal with the salt, and it's not that big of a deal. My fixtures in the house look better. My dishes look better and I feel the difference in having soft water on my skin and my hair. It's great. I should have done it years ago.

When we moved to Peoria from Michigan, the water was a concern. We looked around and they said everybody has a water softener. I was looking for a water softener, water purifier as well as an RO system with minerals backfilling which is why I went with Kinetico.

Their people were prompt. I had a good experience with them. They installed everything. They connected my refrigerator with a new system so it was helpful. They also did a water test before leaving. We installed it in the first two weeks and I definitely see the difference.

They should, however, setup time to go over how filters are replaced and a hands-on session would have really helped. I had to look up videos and struggle to get it installed or replaced for the first time. The hands-on tutorial would have helped me replace RO system filters and also water softener filters.

Other than that, the product is good. It's a robust product. Their price may be on the higher side compared to the competitors, but the trade-off would be the customer service. So, I was okay with paying a little bit extra upfront. I have already recommended them.

I'm on a well and that water is about 40 hard, so to have any kind of water softener is a must. I was building a brand-new home in 2000 and I saw an ad on television about it and called. He came down and installed my water softener and my RO system. We have to rebuild the water softener once every 20 years and I'm still using the same RO system.

The thing I liked about the Kinetico is that it doesn't require electricity. Electricity goes out pretty regularly around here, so I don't have to worry about that system getting fouled up or anything like that. When we lived in West Jordan, we had one that was electrically powered and it was a nightmare.

We just have to keep putting the salt in. Other than that, it just keeps on keeping on like it's supposed to. Even if we're showering or something like that, it doesn't seem to affect the water pressure too much.

I've told several people about it. The thing that is discouraging to people about Kinetico is the price. They just can't see themselves spending that kind of money. You can buy others for $300 to $500. But we're happy with the service we get. When he put this new one in, it wasn't softening the way we thought it should. And he came back down and adjusted it at no charge and we feel good about it.

When I bought my house, it already had a rented unit, but I decided to get my own system instead of paying a monthly fee. There was also an RO system, but their system seemed better. It’s expensive, though, which is my only complaint about the overall system.

They came out and did the water test. A guy came over, the same salesman I met at the home show. He’s basically a salesperson. The installation went fine, I had no problems. They do a good job with service, and I had them out to change my filters.

The only improvement I’d suggest is a lower price. I told the salesman that I like their product but it’s definitely more expensive than others. Still, I get what I pay for. As an engineer, I can appreciate the quality and engineering that went into it.

I really like the company. When you call for service, they’re professional and reliable, they answer the phone, schedule the appointment, and follow through, which isn’t always the case with other companies. I had never heard of them before the home show, but I recently found out my neighbor across the street also has one. I guess they ask around to see what brands people have, and he said he got theirs after seeing the Kinetico truck when they were changing my filters.

I would definitely recommend Kinetico. The price is a bit higher, but I get what I pay for. From the start, the installation was poorly done, and it was clear that the system recommended to us was not the right fit for our home’s needs. Despite raising concerns, customer service was unhelpful and dismissive. We also paid for maintenance visits that never happened. Every time we reached out, we were either given the runaround or ignored entirely. The lack of professionalism and accountability has been incredibly frustrating. For the price we paid, we expected much better service and reliability. I would not recommend Kinetico to anyone looking for a hassle-free and properly supported water system. Look elsewhere if you want a company that stands by its products and values its customers.

    Response from Kinetico Water Systems

    Hello Sofi,

We are sorry to read of your concerns. We do not see that you have contacted Kinetico Incorporated to request mediation with our team and your area installer.

Unfortunately, your identity is anonymous enough that at this time, we are not able to connect with either of the Houston dealers for their service history.

Can you please contact us at customersupport@kinetico.com so that we can try to assist? We'll email you directly, also.

My experience with Kinetico has been excellent. I had the Kinetico system from the previous owner. It was still working after 30 years, but I upgraded my system. But I never rebuilt the softener. I am very satisfied and happy with it.
